- 0:01Speaker 1: Big 98.7.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Now the NDSU Bison take on UNLV tomorrow at 6 p.m.
- 0:11Speaker 2: We're actually going to hear wham, bam, thank you, Sam,
- 0:13Speaker 2: coming up at about 8.41, which is brought to you
- 0:14Speaker 2: by Gateway Chevrolet. And if you don't know this about
- 0:17Speaker 2: our Angie here on Big 98.7, she's from Las Vegas.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Yep, I went to UNLV, and I was back in
- 0:23Speaker 3: my hometown a couple of weeks ago, fully knowing that
- 0:27Speaker 3: the bison were going to hit town and then, you know,
- 0:31Speaker 3: stomp on the, what are they called, the rebels?
- 0:34Speaker 4: The rebels.
- 0:34Speaker 5: How did I forget my own mascot? The school I
- 0:38Speaker 5: went to.
- 0:39Speaker 3: So I wanted to know, actually, what do even people
- 0:43Speaker 3: in Las Vegas think when they hear Fargo? Like, do
- 0:48Speaker 3: they even know anything about Fargo?
- 0:50Speaker 6: No.
- 0:50Speaker 3: And so I did my little man on the street
- 0:53Speaker 3: thing and I got to asking the questions.
- 0:56Speaker 5: So let's take a listen.
- 0:57Speaker 3: See if anybody in Vegas actually knows anything about Fargo.
- 1:00Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:01Speaker 6: Here's the first one.
- 1:02Speaker 1: What do you think of when you hear Fargo? Woodchipper
- 1:06Speaker 1: from the movie, which I've never seen.
- 1:09Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 1:10Speaker 1: No, no worries.
- 1:11Speaker 3: And then do you know what state Fargo is in?
- 1:14Speaker 7: North Dakota?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Anything else come to mind? You hear Fargo. Someone says
- 1:18Speaker 1: they're from Fargo. What do you think? I think of
- 1:20Speaker 1: those hats that cover your ears, like square.
- 1:23Speaker 6: Oh, like the Snoopy?
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know why. Would you ever, do you
- 1:30Speaker 1: think you would ever go to Fargo just to visit?
- 1:32Speaker 8: No.
- 1:35Speaker 7: No. Sorry, I don't.
- 1:38Speaker 6: That actually wasn't bad, though.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Although every answer was with a question at the end.
- 1:43Speaker 4: That was probably my favorite. And also, no, like, I'm
- 1:46Speaker 4: so sorry. No, girl, you don't need to be sorry
- 1:48Speaker 4: about it.
- 1:48Speaker 6: It's fine. Instead of North Dakota, it was North Dakota.
- 1:53Speaker 4: I'm not sure.
- 1:54Speaker 2: All right. We have another one here for Angie's mission
- 1:57Speaker 2: on the street in Vegas.
- 1:58Speaker 6: What does what do what would it be?
- 2:00Speaker 5: Las Vegas?
- 2:01Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 6: What do they know about Fargo? Here's the next one.
- 2:04Speaker 3: When you hear Fargo, what do you think? an fx
- 2:10Speaker 3: show an fx show okay do you know what state
- 2:14Speaker 3: fargo is in.
- 2:16Speaker 1: North dakota oh you got it right.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Okay excellent um.
- 2:22Speaker 5: What if i had to ask.
- 2:23Speaker 3: You what you think goes on in fargo north dakota
- 2:27Speaker 3: what would you.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Say whatever happened in that fx show.
- 2:31Speaker 7: Fair enough.
- 2:32Speaker 1: He never sighed.
- 2:33Speaker 3: So, like, the question mark always when they guess the state.
- 2:37Speaker 5: North Dakota?
- 2:38Speaker 4: They're not quite sure. Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 6: There's a common theme, yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 5: It's always the, it makes me sad that it's always
- 2:44Speaker 5: just the show, the movie.
- 2:46Speaker 4: He knew nothing.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Wasn't Chris Rock in that show?
- 2:48Speaker 5: I don't even know.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I think he's like, yeah, I think so. Anyway, that's
- 2:54Speaker 2: probably what most people saw. They're like, oh, Chris Rock, Fargo?
- 2:57Speaker 6: Yeah, let's see what it is. All right, we have
- 2:58Speaker 6: one more for Angie's mission on the streets of Vegas.
- 3:02Speaker 6: So what do we have here?
- 3:03Speaker 5: Do you know what state Fargo is in?
- 3:06Speaker 7: No.
- 3:07Speaker 1: If you had to guess, just give me a guess. Carolina, maybe.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Carolina, maybe. And couldn't even pick a Carolina.
- 3:16Speaker 6: Didn't give us a North or a South.
- 3:17Speaker 5: One of the Carolinas.
- 3:19Speaker 4: And what's funny, even though there was no question mark,
- 3:21Speaker 4: he was the most confident, maybe.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I do love the honesty from that gentleman at the beginning.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Do you know what state Fargo's in? No.
- 3:28Speaker 7: No.
- 3:29Speaker 6: Great honesty there.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Here's the thing.
- 3:31Speaker 3: So everybody who, because I know there are a ton
- 3:34Speaker 3: of people who are heading out to Vegas to support
- 3:37Speaker 3: the Bison.
- 3:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 3: So my request as a Las Vegas native, please show
- 3:43Speaker 3: Las Vegas what Fargo.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Is all about when you head out there. Let them
- 3:48Speaker 5: know it's not just wood chippers.
- 3:50Speaker 2: In a movie.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Celebrating life's little victories. Victory. Every morning, we practice gratitude
- 4:00Speaker 1: on Big 98.7. If I could, I would.
- 4:02Speaker 6: Keep this feeling in a plastic jar. Bust it out
- 4:05Speaker 6: whenever someone's acting hard.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I just really needed to win, you know. Share your
- 4:09Speaker 1: little victories with us at 701-280-1987.
- 4:11Speaker 2: All right, Megan, do you have a little victory for
- 4:16Speaker 2: us on this Friday?
- 4:17Speaker 6: I know what it should be.
- 4:19Speaker 4: What?
- 4:20Speaker 6: I'll tell you at 641. Oh, okay, okay.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Well, so.
- 4:25Speaker 4: planning my outfit. I've been getting better at trying to
- 4:28Speaker 4: figure out the night before what I'm going to wear.
- 4:31Speaker 4: And so we'll get into, again, part of my outfit.
- 4:34Speaker 4: But I have this purple t-shirt on because it is
- 4:37Speaker 4: Purple Pride Friday. That's right. And I got to wear
- 4:39Speaker 4: my Vikings somehow, someway every Friday. Like, that's been kind
- 4:43Speaker 4: of my thing.
- 4:44Speaker 6: However.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Without thinking, I was like, oh, yeah, this T-shirt, I'm
- 4:48Speaker 4: going to wear it. And then this morning it dawned
- 4:50Speaker 4: on me the T-shirt I'm wearing is the Minneapolis Miracle play.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Beautiful.
- 4:56Speaker 4: And we're playing the Saints this weekend. And that's the
- 4:59Speaker 4: team that the Minneapolis Miracle happened.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Oh, that's.
- 5:02Speaker 1: It's cool.
- 5:03Speaker 4: I was like, oh, my gosh, I couldn't have planned
- 5:05Speaker 4: that better if I tried. And I didn't.
- 5:06Speaker 6: But it happened.
- 5:07Speaker 4: And I feel like that's the win of the day.
- 5:09Speaker 4: And that is like manifesting. We are going to win
- 5:12Speaker 4: this weekend.
- 5:12Speaker 6: Yes. That is an aura boost if I've ever seen it.
- 5:15Speaker 5: I love that. Even I know about the miracle place.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Like, thank you. Thank you. OK. And your little victory.
- 5:22Speaker 5: You know what? I have been wanting to start. a
- 5:27Speaker 5: solo show to watch.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Like, you know, you have your shows you watch with
- 5:30Speaker 3: your family, your shows you watch with your partner. But
- 5:34Speaker 3: I needed one that's just for me. So yesterday I
- 5:37Speaker 3: started East of Eden. On Netflix, and it stars Florence Pugh. Oh,
- 5:43Speaker 3: that's all.
- 5:44Speaker 6: We need to know.
- 5:44Speaker 3: No, I'm just kidding. The guy who, I never know
- 5:48Speaker 3: this guy's name, but I think he looks like he
- 5:50Speaker 3: could be Kit Harington's brother. Like if Kit Harington was
- 5:54Speaker 3: Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, this guy would be
- 5:56Speaker 3: Jon Reign.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Like that actor, I don't.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Know his name, and then there's a few other people
- 6:03Speaker 5: in it.
- 6:04Speaker 3: But it's already so good, and I'm only an episode
- 6:08Speaker 3: and a half in.
- 6:09Speaker 6: They're long episodes.
- 6:10Speaker 3: But I'm really excited to watch East of Eden, and
- 6:13Speaker 3: that's like my– My own little show that I can
- 6:15Speaker 3: watch on my own time, and I don't have to
- 6:17Speaker 3: ask anybody else if they're, are you ready to watch
- 6:19Speaker 3: another episode?
- 6:20Speaker 5: Like, I can just do that myself.
- 6:21Speaker 6: You can just burn through the episodes.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Yes, I'm very excited. I think I'll binge it by
- 6:25Speaker 5: the end of this weekend.
- 6:26Speaker 4: I was wondering about this show, so keep me clued in,
- 6:28Speaker 4: because I might have to.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Put it on my list. Already, I'm hooked.
- 6:30Speaker 5: You have to watch it.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Okay, I'm in.
- 6:32Speaker 6: I love that.
- 6:33Speaker 5: What about you, Gabe? Thank you. What's your little victory today?
- 6:37Speaker 2: You know, my little victory is, for the first time in,
- 6:40Speaker 2: it feels like about a month, I will be spending
- 6:42Speaker 2: this weekend at my very own house that I pay
- 6:48Speaker 2: rent to live in. I don't even know what my
- 6:50Speaker 2: house looks like on a Saturday.
- 6:52Speaker 5: You really have been doing so much traveling lately.
- 6:54Speaker 6: Everywhere.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I've had bachelor party, and I guess we didn't have
- 6:58Speaker 2: to bring Kaylee to Grandma and Grandpa's.
- 7:00Speaker 6: But we did. Yeah, you got to go at some point.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yeah, you do.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And then to a wedding, I have driven across the
- 7:06Speaker 2: northern part of the state. the central part of the state,
- 7:09Speaker 2: the southern part of the state. There should not be
- 7:11Speaker 2: a single mosquito left in all of Minnesota because they
- 7:15Speaker 2: are all on my front part of my car. OK,
- 7:18Speaker 2: so I could not be more jacked to wake up tomorrow,
- 7:22Speaker 2: roll over and do nothing for six seconds before I
- 7:25Speaker 2: got to go change a baby diaper.
- 7:27Speaker 5: I love this for you.
- 7:28Speaker 4: That is so that's like the best feeling I get
- 7:30Speaker 4: to be home.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Home.
- 7:32Speaker 6: I get to be a home.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I wonder if it like smells different on Saturdays. Actually,
- 7:37Speaker 2: I don't even have a clue on the way. We've
- 7:39Speaker 2: got Taylor Swift. We'll also have the big scroll coming
- 7:41Speaker 2: up on big 98.7. And if you are aware today
- 7:45Speaker 2: is flannel Friday, so get your flannels on and celebrate
- 7:48Speaker 2: and enjoy.
- 7:49Speaker 6: And we'll talk a little bit more.
- 7:50Speaker 2: If you don't know the lore of flannel Fridays about
- 7:53Speaker 2: why they begin in October and why I have been
- 7:56Speaker 2: doing this for Quick math, like 18, 17 years or
- 8:00Speaker 2: something like that. Yeah, we'll have that later on in
- 8:03Speaker 2: the show. And today is the first Flannel Friday of.
- 8:12Speaker 6: The season. Yeah, the season.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I was almost going to say the year, but that
- 8:15Speaker 2: wouldn't work because we were doing them in January, February, March.
- 8:18Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 5: This is the new season. This is the season premiere
- 8:22Speaker 5: of Flannel Friday.
- 8:24Speaker 6: That's right.
- 8:25Speaker 4: And it's the right fall is... All about the premieres.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Yes. That's right.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And Megan, thank you so much for joining in today.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Round of applause to Megan.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Get used to this flannel because if I don't find
- 8:36Speaker 4: another purple one, this is about all I'm going to
- 8:37Speaker 4: be wearing.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And it's not like you've never worn a flannel on
- 8:41Speaker 2: a Friday in this building before you've done it.
- 8:44Speaker 6: But now you're like inauguration to the big 98.7 flannel Fridays.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 6: It's official.
- 8:49Speaker 4: I'm happy to be here.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Thank you so much.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And we've seen texts and messages asking about Flannel Friday,
- 8:56Speaker 2: which I find, A, very sweet and hilarious at the
- 8:59Speaker 2: same time.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Quite literally, our buddy Eddie, he listens to the show
- 9:04Speaker 3: from Chicago, but he messaged a couple.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Of weeks ago and said, hey, wait.
- 9:08Speaker 3: When does Flannel Friday start again? And I was like, oh,
- 9:11Speaker 3: October 9th. We have a couple weeks.
- 9:14Speaker 2: And they've always started in October. And the lore of
- 9:17Speaker 2: Flannel Friday, if you've never heard this story, when I
- 9:19Speaker 2: was 17 in chemistry class, my professor, not professor, my teacher,
- 9:25Speaker 2: his name was Mr. Crabtree. And to this day, I
- 9:28Speaker 2: still remember him. And once in a blue moon, we'll
- 9:30Speaker 2: message each other on Facebook. And he had a flannel
- 9:33Speaker 2: on in class on a Friday. And I did as well.
- 9:37Speaker 2: And we joked around about doing it again next week.
- 9:39Speaker 6: And we did.
- 9:40Speaker 2: And then we just continued to do it for the
- 9:43Speaker 2: rest of the school year. And this would have been
- 9:45Speaker 2: in October. And, you know, by December, January, February, my buddies,
- 9:50Speaker 2: other kids in the school started hopping in on it.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I brought it to the radio station when I was
- 9:55Speaker 2: in Winona, Minnesota. I brought it to the radio station
- 9:58Speaker 2: when I was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I've now brought
- 10:00Speaker 2: it to the FM area. So it's very funny to
- 10:03Speaker 2: think that regionally there are a gajillion people. Maybe not
- 10:07Speaker 2: a gajillion, but there are a ton of people.
- 10:09Speaker 6: You let you believe that. I'd like to hope a gajillion.
- 10:12Speaker 2: There are a ton of people wearing flannels going, oh, yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 2: there's flannel Fridays today.
- 10:18Speaker 6: Which is wonderful. I love this.
- 10:19Speaker 5: What a true influencer you are, Gabe.
- 10:22Speaker 1: That's right.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Now, I don't remember anything on the chemistry table from
- 10:26Speaker 2: that class.
- 10:27Speaker 7: Well, no.
- 10:27Speaker 5: The periodic table?
- 10:28Speaker 6: That's the one, yeah. K is potassium, right?
- 10:32Speaker 4: I was thinking desk.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I was like, the desk?
- 10:35Speaker 7: The book?
- 10:36Speaker 6: Like, I don't know. All I remember, K is potassium. Well,
- 10:40Speaker 6: you got that. At one point, I had them memorized.
- 10:42Speaker 4: You don't know oxygen?
- 10:43Speaker 6: What's that, O, X?
- 10:44Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 6: O-X? Ox?
- 10:50Speaker 2: Either way, I learned a lot in that chemistry class.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I was really paying attention to what was going on
- 10:56Speaker 2: on the board. Or I was just figuring out what
- 10:58Speaker 2: flannel to wear to school on that Friday. A big
- 11:01Speaker 2: shout out to Mr.
- 11:02Speaker 6: Crabtree.
- 11:02Speaker 2: He's one of the coolest dudes of all time. And
- 11:06Speaker 2: I'm so glad flannel Friday season is back.
- 11:08Speaker 4: You know what we need? We need to take it
- 11:10Speaker 4: to the streets one of these Fridays and just see
- 11:12Speaker 4: who out is wearing a flannel and make Gabe go
- 11:15Speaker 4: up to them and be like, thanks for listening big
- 11:17Speaker 4: and wearing your flannel.
- 11:18Speaker 6: Yeah, I would do that.
- 11:19Speaker 5: And then we'll follow you.
- 11:20Speaker 3: We'll take pictures.
- 11:22Speaker 6: I would do that.
- 11:22Speaker 2: If you are driving your car right now and you
- 11:24Speaker 2: have a flannel on, do me a favor.
- 11:26Speaker 6: Just honk your horn on the count of three. OK, one, two, three.
- 11:30Speaker 6: Did you hear all that? Silence.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Crickets.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I feel like there are a ton of people who
- 11:45Speaker 2: have the first time I ever heard my voice on
- 11:48Speaker 2: the radio story. And we were doing stuff for bras
- 11:52Speaker 2: on Big 98.7. And there's this guy over at Corwin
- 11:56Speaker 2: Toyota that I know, Jeremiah. And he was telling me
- 11:59Speaker 2: about the first time he heard his voice on the radio.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And it is such a cool story that I actually
- 12:03Speaker 2: had him record it and send it to me.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 12:05Speaker 2: He was in this Wiz Khalifa, like, laugh impersonation contest.
- 12:11Speaker 6: What?
- 12:13Speaker 2: Okay. That alone is like, oh, wow. And supposedly he
- 12:19Speaker 2: had the best laugh. And here was the story.
- 12:22Speaker 7: I was fourth grade, about nine years old. My dad
- 12:25Speaker 7: picks me up from school. He's like, hey, son, we're
- 12:28Speaker 7: going to go to this Wiz Khalifa concert. And they
- 12:30Speaker 7: have a competition going on to win front row seats.
- 12:33Speaker 7: And I'm like, all right, like for sure. I'll go
- 12:36Speaker 7: to a concert. It's for Cinco de Mayo. I'm just
- 12:39Speaker 7: excited for this to happen. It's my first concert ever.
- 12:41Speaker 7: So he takes us to the Robo Bank Arena in Bakersfield, California.
- 12:45Speaker 7: And before we get out there, we spend about 15
- 12:48Speaker 7: minutes in the car. I'm warming up. I'm listening to
- 12:51Speaker 7: Wiz Khalifa music, trying to get his laugh down. And
- 12:54Speaker 7: we walk out there and long story short, I win
- 12:58Speaker 7: the competition and we get in there. We have a blast.
- 13:01Speaker 7: The competition was actually on the radio and I get
- 13:04Speaker 7: on there and it was a blast.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And I never heard it actually, but So, Jeremiah, if
- 13:10Speaker 2: you've never heard the contest, you've now heard your voice
- 13:12Speaker 2: on Big 98.7 for the first time.
- 13:14Speaker 6: But what a cool story.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Wait, wait.
- 13:16Speaker 5: He didn't do the laugh for you?
- 13:18Speaker 1: No.
- 13:18Speaker 6: That's disappointing.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I tried to get it. He couldn't do it. He
- 13:21Speaker 2: wasn't in fourth grade anymore.
- 13:24Speaker 4: You know how long ago that was? It was like
- 13:26Speaker 4: 10 years ago now.
- 13:26Speaker 6: Yeah, right, right, right. Do you remember the first time
- 13:29Speaker 6: you ever heard your voice on the radio? Let us
- 13:31Speaker 6: know at 701-280-7000. one, nine, eight, seven.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I know Angie has a pretty cool, like, I think
- 13:37Speaker 2: is it the first time or is that just how
- 13:39Speaker 2: you got into it?
- 13:39Speaker 3: No, the very first time I heard myself on air
- 13:43Speaker 3: on the radio was the way I got into radio
- 13:45Speaker 3: in the first place was that I won a contest
- 13:48Speaker 3: to co-host the morning show.
- 13:50Speaker 5: And so I did it.
- 13:51Speaker 3: And then, you know, they replayed audio on the website
- 13:54Speaker 3: because people had to like, you know, chime in and
- 13:56Speaker 3: be like.
- 13:56Speaker 6: She's great.
- 13:57Speaker 5: Or she's the literal worst. And so I, hit play
- 14:01Speaker 5: on the thing.
- 14:01Speaker 3: And I heard my voice for the first time and
- 14:04Speaker 3: it was very surreal. And also like, that's what I
- 14:07Speaker 3: sounded like this whole time.
- 14:10Speaker 5: I think, isn't there Megan something in like, you think
- 14:13Speaker 5: you hear yourself, your voice in your head sounds different
- 14:16Speaker 5: than I think what you sound like on there.
- 14:18Speaker 6: It does.
- 14:18Speaker 3: 100%.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Like, you know, you think you don't sound that high
- 14:22Speaker 4: pitch and then you're like, Oh, but you do to
- 14:24Speaker 4: everybody else, but not my head.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 4: My voice is so deep on the air.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 2: And if you have never heard your voice on the
- 14:31Speaker 2: radio and would like to this morning, why don't we
- 14:34Speaker 2: just go ahead and make this the first time for you?
- 14:38Speaker 1: 701-280-1987.
- 14:38Speaker 6: The first time I ever heard my voice on the radio.
- 14:40Speaker 6: You're so right. It sounded like this. This is Am
- 14:44Speaker 6: I the Problem?
- 14:54Speaker 8: We'll hear one side of the story and with your help,
- 14:58Speaker 8: decide if it's right or if maybe you're the problem.
- 15:02Speaker 1: That's right. I am the problem. On Big 98.7. Cora
- 15:05Speaker 1: wrote in to us. Good morning, Big 98.7.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Hope you're well this morning. I'm emailing you to get
- 15:15Speaker 3: your opinion on a mom decision I recently made that
- 15:19Speaker 3: is upsetting my daughter. She's having a sleepover party for
- 15:23Speaker 3: her 11th birthday party, and she wants to invite five
- 15:27Speaker 3: of her friends. And I said, of course, so long
- 15:30Speaker 3: as she doesn't invite her very, very, in all caps,
- 15:35Speaker 3: chatty and loud friend, who kept the whole house up
- 15:39Speaker 3: the last time she slept over.
- 15:42Speaker 5: I'm not the only mom who feels this way about
- 15:44Speaker 5: this girl.
- 15:45Speaker 3: She is very sweet, but just so, in all caps, loud,
- 15:51Speaker 3: that you can expect.
- 15:53Speaker 5: No sleep if she's over.
- 15:55Speaker 3: My daughter is bummed and is begging me to reconsider.
- 15:59Speaker 3: But my work week starts on Sundays very early and
- 16:02Speaker 3: I'm already sacrificing some sleep to let the girls stay
- 16:06Speaker 3: up late for my daughter's birthday. Am I being a
- 16:09Speaker 3: mean mom like my daughter suggests?
- 16:13Speaker 6: Yes. We'll get this up.
- 16:16Speaker 3: On the Big 98.7 Facebook page. But what are your
- 16:19Speaker 3: thoughts on this? Is Cora being a mean mom?
- 16:22Speaker 7: 701-280-1987.
- 16:22Speaker 5: Let us know.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Megan, you immediately think that this is mean mom behavior?
- 16:31Speaker 4: Well, that poor girl. Her friends need to have a
- 16:35Speaker 4: chat with her and be like, hey, you know what?
- 16:36Speaker 4: Our moms don't want to have you over if you
- 16:38Speaker 4: don't shut up. Your daughter needs to have a chat
- 16:41Speaker 4: with her.
- 16:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I mean, I was probably the chatty kid growing up.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Maybe not that bad. I wasn't loud, but I mean,
- 16:48Speaker 4: I still chat. There's a reason I'm on radio.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Right.
- 16:52Speaker 4: But I mean, to punish her to not be able
- 16:54Speaker 4: to come over for the sleepover, like. That's harsh.
- 16:58Speaker 5: I know that makes me kind of sad.
- 17:00Speaker 6: What do you think, Gabe?
- 17:02Speaker 2: I feel bad for this poor girl because I'm sure
- 17:04Speaker 2: that was also me growing.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Up.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Gabe can come over, but he's leaving by nine is
- 17:11Speaker 2: probably a conversation that many of my friends heard growing up.
- 17:15Speaker 6: I feel bad.
- 17:16Speaker 2: And honestly, I just feel bad for me because in
- 17:19Speaker 2: 11 years, I'm going to have to make decisions like this.
- 17:22Speaker 5: Oh, that's right.
- 17:22Speaker 6: You're learning.
- 17:23Speaker 5: You are a golden after all.
- 17:25Speaker 6: Also, side note, shout out to dad who's going to
- 17:28Speaker 6: be there Sunday morning. What's her name, Cora?
- 17:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Cora's going off to work early Sunday. The kid's got
- 17:33Speaker 2: to be there with someone. So big shout out to
- 17:35Speaker 2: that dad. That's a whole slumber party of girls he's
- 17:38Speaker 2: going to be with.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Cora, I don't know that we were the ones to
- 17:42Speaker 3: email because I, well, obviously I'm a chatty Cathy, also
- 17:47Speaker 3: in radio, but also I'm Cuban B.
- 17:50Speaker 5: Loud is in my DNA.
- 17:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I definitely was this kid, the super loud one. Like,
- 17:56Speaker 3: couldn't help myself. And I would feel miserable if I
- 17:59Speaker 3: wasn't invited to something just because I can't shut my trap.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Right?
- 18:04Speaker 4: Like, you don't want to, like, make it so that
- 18:06Speaker 4: girl doesn't have friends anymore. Like, that would be the
- 18:09Speaker 4: hardest part of all. But is there some, like... If
- 18:13Speaker 4: you have your husband there, can you put on, like,
- 18:15Speaker 4: noise cancellation, like, headphones for the night to sleep so
- 18:19Speaker 4: that you get some sleep and your husband wakes you
- 18:21Speaker 4: up or the alarm or something? Is there some way
- 18:24Speaker 4: that you can find?
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like there's got to be something. Because
- 18:27Speaker 3: the thing is, I understand, you.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Know, if you work or, boy, do we understand working early.
- 18:32Speaker 1: So well.
- 18:33Speaker 3: If you're working early and so you want to be
- 18:35Speaker 3: able to get some sleep, but it's your daughter's.
- 18:38Speaker 5: If this was a regular old sleepover, fine.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Sleepover?
- 18:41Speaker 5: But this is your daughter's birthday sleepover.
- 18:44Speaker 6: Once a year.
- 18:44Speaker 5: So I feel like, yeah, maybe you got to.
- 18:46Speaker 6: Make the sacrifice. Yeah, all right.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Because the loud friend, the loud chatty friend, I bet
- 18:51Speaker 3: you she's the most fun.
- 18:53Speaker 4: That's what we're going to go with. I mean, somehow
- 18:55Speaker 4: we want to help you. Like, how do we get
- 18:57Speaker 4: you sleep and her to still have her way? So
- 19:00Speaker 4: maybe that's really, like, how do we help her out
- 19:02Speaker 4: to make that happen?
- 19:03Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:04Speaker 6: Well, if you were.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Likely not the chatty friend at the sleepover. What would
- 19:08Speaker 2: you do?
- 19:09Speaker 6: 701-280-1987.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Let us know this morning.
- 19:20Speaker 3: We had Cora write in to us asking if she
- 19:22Speaker 3: was a mean mom for banning one of her daughter's
- 19:27Speaker 3: friends from the birthday sleepover.
- 19:29Speaker 5: The thing is, the friend is.
- 19:32Speaker 3: So unbelievably loud and chatty that whenever she does spend
- 19:35Speaker 3: the night, no one gets any sleep. No one in
- 19:38Speaker 3: the house, not the kids, not the family, nobody. And
- 19:41Speaker 3: so she wants.
- 19:42Speaker 5: To know she's mean for making that ban. And you
- 19:47Speaker 5: have some thoughts.
- 19:48Speaker 3: I love everyone who's chimed in. in as three really
- 19:52Speaker 3: chatty loud radio hosts. We're team the kid on this one.
- 19:57Speaker 4: I'm like, we should know this kid's name because they
- 19:59Speaker 4: probably have a future in radio that we should introduce
- 20:01Speaker 4: them to right now.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Do we need an 11-year-old intern? I've kind of gone
- 20:08Speaker 2: back and forth on this a little bit. I think
- 20:10Speaker 2: there's a good opportunity here. For a learning lesson for
- 20:13Speaker 2: sadly chatty friend that like, hey, you just don't get
- 20:16Speaker 2: to do sleepovers if we don't learn how to calm
- 20:18Speaker 2: down at a certain time. You're a monster, Gabe. That
- 20:21Speaker 2: is a good life lesson. Good life lesson, but also
- 20:25Speaker 2: I wouldn't have the heart to do it.
- 20:28Speaker 4: I love that there's some good advice already coming because
- 20:30Speaker 4: that's kind of like, okay, what's some advice? How can
- 20:32Speaker 4: we navigate around this? How about this coming in in
- 20:36Speaker 4: our chat club? Have a sleepover on a Friday night
- 20:38Speaker 4: instead of a Saturday night. You don't have to worry
- 20:41Speaker 4: about getting up to go to work the next morning.
- 20:43Speaker 4: And then they write back as an added bonus.
- 20:46Speaker 6: Kids are usually.
- 20:47Speaker 4: More tired on a Friday after being in school all
- 20:49Speaker 4: day than a Saturday night. It's a win-win. I love this.
- 20:52Speaker 5: That's actually really smart. I love that.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Leanne.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Leanne.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Leanne chimed in on Facebook. How about no sleepover and
- 21:00Speaker 3: have a different kind of party? Then the loud girl
- 21:04Speaker 3: can join in and you can get some sleep.
- 21:08Speaker 6: The loud girl. The loud girl is my favorite. This
- 21:11Speaker 6: is kind of funny.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I might want to, I'm going to leave this guy
- 21:13Speaker 2: anonymous just in case he is talking about this girl.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:17Speaker 2: So I don't want to say his name, but he said,
- 21:20Speaker 2: my daughter had that friend. I don't know if this
- 21:23Speaker 2: is the same girl or not. My daughter had that friend.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I ended up waking, uh, walking her home at one.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Her parents were in the morning. Her parents were not happy,
- 21:34Speaker 2: but the rest of the girls were.
- 21:36Speaker 6: Oh, wow. Oh yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 5: She can't be the same girl.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Cause this daughter wants the girl to come to the sleepover.
- 21:44Speaker 4: She's the fun one who keeps us. She's how we
- 21:46Speaker 4: stay up late.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 5: She serves her purpose.
- 21:52Speaker 6: 701-280-1987. Your thoughts. How do you deal? I mean, in
- 21:57Speaker 6: like an overall umbrella aspect.
- 21:59Speaker 2: How do you deal with maybe a kid's friend that
- 22:02Speaker 2: maybe you like or just kind of sort of tolerate?
- 22:06Speaker 4: That girl does need to have, somebody needs to have
- 22:08Speaker 4: a conversation with that girl, whether it be her friends
- 22:10Speaker 4: or maybe her parents.
- 22:11Speaker 5: You know what?
- 22:12Speaker 3: Maybe the move is, Cora, talk to, I hate to
- 22:17Speaker 3: call her the loud girl, but I do like that.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I mean, I would take that as a compliment. Maybe
- 22:21Speaker 3: talk to her parents and be like, hey, we would
- 22:24Speaker 3: love to have Laudica, come over for the stuff.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Laudica, keep over. But she really has, she's got to
- 22:32Speaker 5: be quiet.
- 22:32Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 22:33Speaker 3: And then have her parents talk to her about it.
- 22:35Speaker 3: But I just don't want her to be excluded.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Or expect that 1 a.m. we're going to be dropping
- 22:40Speaker 4: your daughter back.
- 22:41Speaker 6: That would definitely start a convo, that's for sure. Drop it,
- 22:45Speaker 6: drop it. Big 98.7.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I need some good.
- 22:50Speaker 8: Starting off the day with something good. This is Gabe's
- 22:54Speaker 8: Good News on Big 98.7.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Gabe's Good News of the day has got to be
- 23:00Speaker 2: the first flannel Friday of the season. There have been
- 23:04Speaker 2: so many fun messages and texts to us here at
- 23:07Speaker 2: Big 98.7. Julia took a picture of the flannels in
- 23:10Speaker 2: her closet, asked which one to wear.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Oh, I said the blue and white one.
- 23:14Speaker 3: So if you put that on, Julia, please drop another
- 23:18Speaker 3: picture in the comments.
- 23:19Speaker 6: That's right.
- 23:20Speaker 2: We also had and of course, I forget the name
- 23:22Speaker 2: off the top of my head, but someone who worked
- 23:23Speaker 2: at Target or works at Target and can't wear Marissa.
- 23:27Speaker 2: She can't wear her red and black flannel because it's
- 23:30Speaker 2: against company policy or whatever. But you know what you
- 23:33Speaker 2: thought about us?
- 23:34Speaker 3: I know.
- 23:35Speaker 6: Right.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Like, girl, we love your spirit for that.
- 23:37Speaker 6: That's right.
- 23:38Speaker 2: So you get to participate today, even while at work wearing,
- 23:41Speaker 2: I'm going to guess, like a red polo or hoodie
- 23:43Speaker 2: or something.
- 23:44Speaker 6: Right, yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 2: All right. But thank you so much for all the
- 23:46Speaker 2: flannel Friday love and joy I think we've seen this morning.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Megan hopping in. And you have worn a flannel to
- 23:52Speaker 2: work on Fridays before. But your first time on the
- 23:55Speaker 2: Big 98.7 Morning Show.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Big deal.
- 23:57Speaker 2: With the flannel. So thank you all for participating here
- 24:01Speaker 2: in studio. And thank you if you're riding in your
- 24:04Speaker 2: car and you went, oh, I need to grab a
- 24:05Speaker 2: flannel before I head to work today.
- 24:07Speaker 6: How old are you? How old are you? How old
- 24:12Speaker 6: are you when you're 17? I've been.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Doing this for that long. So 19 years, almost 19 years.
- 24:19Speaker 5: Every Friday.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Is that like a half a year then?
- 24:22Speaker 5: Almost.
- 24:23Speaker 6: Well, my birthday is coming up when I'm 36. So
- 24:24Speaker 6: it'll be 19 years. So, Pretty crazy that it's been
- 24:30Speaker 6: going that long.
- 24:30Speaker 2: And it's so cool that there are, I know there's
- 24:32Speaker 2: people in Iowa and Winona, Minnesota doing it right now.
- 24:35Speaker 2: So very, very cool to see happen. You know, my
- 24:38Speaker 2: favorite quote, if you don't hear it is the world
- 24:39Speaker 2: is full of nice people. If you can't find one,
- 24:41Speaker 2: you got to be one and never forget that broken crayons.
- 24:44Speaker 2: They still color.
