- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You.
- 0:16Shut it off. Do not twist my words.
- 0:19Do not make me a victim. Sweetie, Just look at the
- 0:22mountain. That's what you saw that day.
- 0:25Just the knife in the kidneys.
- 0:27All these. Years and the sacrifices that I
- 0:31made to love you. The season finale of Season 4.
- 0:50Finally. Finally.
- 0:52Finale. Finally is happening to me.
- 0:58We are leaving the nest. Leaving the nest.
- 1:02Exciting stuff. Yeah.
- 1:05I believe we are going to start with a little bit of an update
- 1:07from something that someone shared with us a comment.
- 1:12We have a little corrections. Course Yeah, from a Patreon
- 1:14listener. Yeah, who shared what with us,
- 1:17darling? Kody perhaps is not wearing a
- 1:21Prada shirt. Perhaps it is.
- 1:24Guess the brand logo looks pretty much exactly the same.
- 1:30However, Prada is the one that
- 1:36triangle logo on things and I think that guess puts the metal
- 1:42logo on like purses and certain items but not on everything
- 1:46like Prada does. So it's still up in the air.
- 1:50But either way, it's a more expensive shirt than what he is
- 1:54used to wearing. Right.
- 1:55Used to see him in SO. Yeah, and when I did a Google
- 1:58search for men's shirts with guest logos, it was big, like
- 2:04graphic tee kind of vibes, like a guest T-shirt.
- 2:08Like gaudy in your face, giant
- 2:12metal emblem, yes. I don't know.
- 2:16Who knows, but I mean I can see why someone would say that.
- 2:20It's probably most likely not Prada and it probably is
- 2:25something different like guess
- 2:29look up the shirt and did not find it.
- 2:31So if anyone does, we share because I would be very curious.
- 2:37Going back in time to find a tan
- 2:42shirt. I don't know, it looked like a
- 2:44Banana Republic. I am probably going to go on a
- 2:46jungle safari type of shirt, but.
- 2:51So back to Leaving the Nest, which is the title of the 11th
- 2:56episode of Season 4. 1 Flew out of the Cuckoo's Nest Alana
- 3:02Logan is flying out of the cuckoo's nest.
- 3:05Definitely a cuckoo nest with the Brown family.
- 3:09They start the episode with an
- 3:11graduating this year. He had been interested in five
- 3:15different schools and had narrowed it down to two, being
- 3:20Southern Utah University Suu, which I struggled with following
- 3:24a little bit because of the way they were saying Suu.
- 3:27It sounded like there was AC in there to me.
- 3:30It sounded like there was AC in there because they said it was
- 3:32Southern city, Utah at 1st and
- 3:36somewhere. I don't know.
- 3:39It was very hard to understand
- 3:42V's sounded kind of similar during all of this, so it got
- 3:46complicated. There's that Utah accent, much
- 3:49like our Minnesota. Accent.
- 3:53And so he's looking at Southern Utah University, Suu and UNLV,
- 3:58which I believe is University of
- 4:02We're at Janelle's house and the
- 4:07Logan graduating and they just want him around still because
- 4:11they need that big bro energy.
- 4:15They need that Big Brother energy around them.
- 4:18Yeah, they totally do. What?
- 4:19Are we going to do without one
- 4:22Oh, no, the pressure they're putting on this kid because they
- 4:28need this around, like this good
- 4:31influence around the little kids, it's just not even fair.
- 4:35Yeah, it's just so unfair. There's other Big Brothers now
- 4:39in the picture that have never
- 4:43energy or step up. And so I don't think that
- 4:46they'll be able to take on or take over the same role that
- 4:49Logan has done. But to be putting that on him
- 4:53and he's looking for his future and all excited about this is
- 4:56just yucky to me. Yeah, luckily it doesn't seem
- 4:59too intense in the sense that we
- 5:04throughout the episode that they
- 5:07letting him make his own decisions and blah, blah blah.
- 5:09So at least the narrative for the whole episode isn't them
- 5:12being like don't leave because
- 5:15Well, they're not coming out and
- 5:21talks about it and he says that his family is a distraction.
- 5:24We'll get into Logan's view on
- 5:28basically escape. So it's like, OK, they might not
- 5:32be coming across and saying it
- 5:38he's feeling some sort of pressure for some sort of
- 5:41reason. Kody is worried that the other
- 5:44big kids, the older kids are going to convince him to go to
- 5:46Utah because they're about to go
- 5:51he is worried they're going to
- 5:54Yeah, Logan and some of his sisters are going to tour
- 5:57Southern Utah University, and it's just such a great
- 6:00opportunity to take a road trip.
- 6:02Road trip, road trip. Janelle and Kody are telling
- 6:05Logan that they're looking to get a big house, a big home, a
- 6:13Oh, there might be 6 bedrooms. There might be an office.
- 6:16There might be place for you. Logan.
- 6:18Meanwhile, you're right, he's trying to plan his escape from
- 6:24talking a little bit here in the first few minutes.
- 6:28And he seems so dejected, like I wrote down yeah, that he just
- 6:34seems very like he's kind of calculating what to say cuz he
- 6:42But I just get this energy from him that he's like super nervous
- 7:03instilled the religion in him enough and that he will cut ties
- 7:10we've heard this from Janelle. And, you know, it's interesting
- 7:13to come from her because she doesn't seem to be very, like,
- 7:23know, he's a blink kid. So, you know, in Utah, we were,
- 7:27like, ostracized for being polygamous.
- 7:28So if he goes to a school that is heavy Mormon, he might be an
- 7:33outsider there as well. I don't really know how to gauge
- 7:38And I do know what it's like to feel like an outsider, but I
- 7:43don't know how real that is on, like, a university campus.
- 7:46Like I don't know what that means.
- 7:48Not sure I can see in grade school and high school feeling
- 7:55plague kids at this college though, so there might be a
- 7:59separate community for someone who is like coming from a family
- 8:05Well, also when you go to college, I'm just imagining
- 8:07like, it's not like when I went to college, I was like, here's
- 8:13whatever. It's like you just you, you're
- 8:21into the world. And that's what Logan says.
- 8:23As soon as I'm 18, it's my life. And I was like, yes, right.
- 8:28Amen. Power to the people, power to
- 8:30Logan. They show the kids driving to
- 8:34Suu. Logan has a little bit here
- 8:37where he talks about how he is up in the air about being
- 8:43plagued himself and he says that people just assume that since
- 8:48he's from a plague family and he's the oldest of the kids that
- 8:57instilled in him completely. Then they cut to Kody again
- 9:01saying that he has anxiety about his religious teachings.
- 9:04So Kody is saying that he agrees with Janelle about having a
- 9:09little anxiety about this. And then Logan in a separate
- 9:12clip is talking about how he's up in the air about being a
- 9:16plague. So we are getting a wishy washy,
- 9:23aspect. On this road trip to go visit
- 9:27Southern Utah University. Joining Logan on this adventure,
- 9:34So it's fun to see Aspen actually participating because
- 9:40Aspen was nowhere to be seen. None of Christine's kids went.
- 9:45It was kind of fun. I always like seeing Aspen and
- 9:54Well, and as we come to find out, she was basically being a
- 10:01know. She's having a step up.
- 10:03Yeah, she was the built in babysitter, just like Logan.
- 10:06Just like all the older kids, apparently.
- 10:08Yeah, they get to Suu and Sydney Perky Sydney is going to take
- 10:17them on a tour. Oh, Sydney Logan mentions that
- 10:24It's very apparent that she likes the school and has a
- 10:27conviction for it based on the tour and her attitude.
- 10:30Got this language they use it was.
- 10:33Logan starts in with the My family is a distraction
- 10:40sometimes my family is a distraction sometimes.
- 10:43He literally said that he is saying that if he stays around
- 11:01much. This just put a bad taste in my
- 11:04mouth. And you can tell he's trying to
- 11:07temper what he is saying. He's trying to be respectful and
- 11:18I don't have a normal childhood. I've grown up too fast.
- 11:24But that is, it's like, read between the lines, like what's
- 11:30Cut to a moment where they're asking some of the siblings
- 11:35about their thoughts about Southern Utah University, and
- 11:38Leon says I think it's nice. And Aspen says it's boring.
- 11:43It's a little Hick town. A little Hick town.
- 11:47Which I love. It's like, Oh my gosh, Aspen, so
- 11:54thing or two about Hick towns. And yeah, you know, if you have
- 11:56an opportunity to go to school not in Hick town, I would
- 12:00suggest taking it. But I also went to school in
- 12:03Hick town, so you know, it's OK. Logan talks about the benefits
- 12:13It is God, it is far away from Vegas, so he's not mad about
- 12:18that. Far away that he wouldn't be
- 12:21able to, like, drive back there at a moment's notice and be
- 12:26expected to do things, yeah. Make the kids breakfast before
- 12:30And Oh my gosh, we are having a character return, a character
- 12:35return for the season finale. The revival of Mona.
- 12:40Mona is back with us. So we have returned to Vegas.
- 12:45The camera crew, the producers that brought us back to the Sin
- 12:49City. The adults are going to meet
- 12:52with Mona and look at a model home in the sub development
- 12:55where they're interested in these properties, where they've
- 12:57told their kids they're getting these properties.
- 12:59They haven't done that yet, but there's the sub development.
- 13:02They're meeting Mona, going to look at a model home now.
- 13:05This was an interesting scene because this is the first time
- 13:12Grandiose.
- 13:12Yeah, very grandiose. Very grand for for this
- 13:16polygamist family. You know, I do look back on the
- 13:19Lehigh home fondly with kinder
- 13:25Then, then I would have in the
- 13:28But yeah, it's kind of a shithole.
- 13:30So these homes are literally not, they're like, you know, I
- 13:34mean new builds, they are cookie
- 13:38So when they go in, it's very interesting because there's a
- 13:42lot of light. It's like well lit big spaces.
- 13:44The foyer's like 2. There's like a two floor room in
- 13:47the family room and like a staircase and all these things.
- 13:51Now mind you, it is you can tell
- 13:54grade so everything looks cookie
- 13:56Bright, very open compared to the Lehigh home which was very
- 14:00closed off, low ceilings, darker, like just naturally
- 14:06darker. Not as much natural light coming
- 14:08in. So I had to laugh.
- 14:12Christine says that she can hear
- 14:16like. And that is a very important
- 14:20point because that comes up again later in the show, years
- 14:23down the road. She hears angels singing again.
- 14:27She hears them again. And I don't really want to say
- 14:33too much out loud. It's like when they buy property
- 14:35in the future, she's like, Oh my
- 14:37And I got there and the angels
- 14:38It's like this is. Something she says.
- 14:41It's she's, she's brainwashed.
- 14:45excited. I have enthusiasm too.
- 14:47The angels are singing. Like, OK, there's not really
- 14:50angels singing. You're just, I don't know,
- 14:53there's ways to show enthusiasm without saying the angels are
- 14:56singing like my God. It makes me think of like a
- 14:59Christmas ornament with a little
- 15:03wings and the trumpet and then
- 15:08It's like me on Christmas morning.
- 15:09Yeah, oh boy. This house is so big that
- 15:13they're looking at and when they're going around there's
- 15:16some voice overs blah blah blah.
- 15:18Meri is getting into a bathtub to check it for the size, which
- 15:22I love because that's me. I'm getting in the tub Like I
- 15:25want to know is this standard tub?
- 15:27Which tub option is this? Is there a bigger one would be
- 15:32It look perfectly adequate. A nice little garden soaker tub.
- 15:37you know, I don't know, someone says something, someone else
- 15:39has something. Nobody cares.
- 15:40And then Kody's like, has a voice over or a couch moment
- 15:43where he says, yeah, Meri. She's always had expensive
- 15:46taste. Which is a little foreshadowing
- 15:49for what we get to experience with Meri in the near future.
- 15:55She is just sitting in that tub going I could totally live in
- 15:59this house. Yeah, you could, girl.
- 16:04Like I could live in that house.
- 16:05Yeah. Janelle Oh my gosh, Janelle,
- 16:08this one's too much. This house is.
- 16:11Too much my budget, can't afford this house.
- 16:13And Janelle, I mean, you know, you got to admire her, her
- 16:19desire to want to stick to a budget, to not want to spend
- 16:24money she doesn't have. Those are admirable qualities.
- 16:31into wanting to do this. So it's like, right, Like, can
- 16:38We're going to get into this. They don't know if they can make
- 16:43all looking around, bright eyed, bushy tailed, oh,
- 16:46everything so great. And then there's no being like,
- 16:48I don't know that my budget can afford this.
- 16:50And it's like, yeah, I mean, true.
- 16:53Debbie Doubter, I see where she's coming from.
- 16:56And somebody has to be practical in the family.
- 16:59Somebody has to bring it back down to earth and shut those
- 17:02angels up. Shut those angels up, you know,
- 17:05Angels, a punch in the throat and say quit your singing, you
- 17:11mouths and said shut up. We gotta get real here.
- 17:14We gotta get real angels. Angels out of here we got.
- 17:16No place for angels. I got a budget.
- 17:20Yeah, she isn't wrong, though that it is a little.
- 17:26It's it's very nice compared to what they had.
- 17:30And then you get Kody going on this little rant about how if
- 17:35you don't believe it, if you don't see yourself and envision
- 17:38yourself there, it'll never happen.
- 17:40And he says that he's trying to move their psychology to where
- 17:49What a dreamer. He wants, he wants the angels to
- 17:54keep singing, keep singing to sweet Christine.
- 17:57Lol Janelle. Yeah lol leaving entice her with
- 18:04Someone start playing the harp. That's all Janelle nudes.
- 18:08Janelle just needs to be touched by an Angel, Mona.
- 18:12Mona is here to remind us of how they need to move quickly.
- 18:19We need to move quickly because if only one lot sells of the
- 18:23four that are right next to each other, then they won't be able
- 18:29But we do need the reminder as a viewer that they're trying to
- 18:32buy 4 lots right next to each other and even if just one gets
- 18:36swooped up, their dreams are shattered.
- 18:38Those angels will be crying instead of singing.
- 18:42Who weeping? Who weeping?
- 18:45Angels weeping. Weeping I love how you at is
- 18:48there an ancient weeping no. Weeping.
- 18:50Weeping. It's like Will Wheaton.
- 18:53Yeah, Wil. Wheaton weeping.
- 18:55It's kind of like how they forget some letters in Destiny.
- 19:00In Destiny, yes, they're that
- 19:02beautiful Utah accent. And now we're going to
- 19:06transition to a new scene where we're all gathering at Robyns
- 19:09House. All of the parents, all of the
- 19:11adults are gathering at Robyns
- 19:13They're going to go see prototypes of their jewelry for
- 19:17my sister wifes closet. Oh, now I have to admit, Robyn
- 19:22was talking here and I kind of
- 19:26So eventually we find out that
- 19:31jeweler. I thought the jeweler was coming
- 19:33to them. Like in the first time we get
- 19:34introduced to Baldy, Psycho freak, loser.
- 19:38But Brandon, it turns out, is his name.
- 19:40Brandon. But no, they're going to go to
- 19:43his store. Yep.
- 19:45They're going to go and check the prototypes out, and we find
- 19:48out from Christine that she is
- 19:52will look, and she's worried that she's going to have to lie
- 19:56and say that things look good when she doesn't think they
- 19:59actually do look good. While Christine is giving us
- 20:03this update into her deep, deep psyche, they're showing us a
- 20:07sketch from Robyn on the graph
- 20:11AW, which if no one told you this, you would never get from
- 20:16the sketch on the graph. Paper never you would never the.
- 20:19Squiggly The squiggly lines on
- 20:22Well when you look at the W put together it looks like 2
- 20:27exaggerated use with like loops on the ends put together.
- 20:31So it looks like 2 U shapes connected with like swoops,
- 20:37loops downward off the edges of the U's.
- 20:40So it's hard to imagine what it would be, how it will be 2 s s,
- 20:44but it's almost like 2 U's on their sides that end up kind of
- 20:49loosely looking like s s. Yeah, she's playing Liberty with
- 20:52her letters once again. You know, someone probably had
- 20:55to say Robyn. This is what an S looks.
- 20:59Like this is how you. Robyn, this is how you spell
- 21:02Sister Wife because that bitch
- 21:06Christine's just, I don't know
- 21:14this. Well, rightfully so.
- 21:16It shows me that at least one person thought those sketches
- 21:22looked like bullshit and was kind of willing to say it.
- 21:27And Janelle said that she thought one of some of them were
- 21:29trite. Yeah.
- 21:31So like, you know. You're right, she said that.
- 21:34And then we've got Christine putting in a little sliver of
- 21:38doubt here. So yeah, they kind of were on
- 21:43the fence about this. Meri's being, I believe,
- 21:46strategically quiet because she's like, of course I need to
- 21:49support this. And so it's just what we're
- 21:51doing now. Yeah.
- 21:51And that's that I. Mean I'm we're matching jeans
- 21:54with her so. I'm still trying to be friends
- 21:57with Robyn. Like, oh, girl, you should not.
- 21:59You should not. Yeah.
- 22:01So they get there to see Brandon
- 22:06prototypes that we get to see is
- 22:12bands that is this W but when you take the bands apart it's
- 22:182S S and then when they come together it's AW sister wives,
- 22:25sister wives. Yeah.
- 22:27And Robyn, Robyn, Robyn. Robyn.
- 22:31Oh, she's talented. She's touched.
- 22:34So I know you wrote down this quote, honey.
- 22:36She's gifted, she says. Now I don't know if everybody
- 22:40wants a sister wife's ring. Really.
- 22:46Really. What I love is this is the kind
- 22:48of question you posed to yourself well before you have
- 22:53someone make a prototype for you.
- 22:54Like that's the entire fundamental flaw with their
- 22:57business is that there's only so
- 23:00going to buy sister wife jewelry?
- 23:02Part of me wanted to look up like what is the percentage of
- 23:05people in this country that are actually living plural
- 23:10marriage? Because I don't know when what
- 23:18logo was the way to go. We said this before.
- 23:21Maybe hearts, maybe hearts that connect that you could be like
- 23:34And then they make some stupid
- 23:37the ring and thinks it's so cool.
- 23:39Oh, could we get like brother brother bands like this?
- 23:42Cause Brandon says I could make it bigger in a men's size.
- 23:45And then they yuck it up about
- 23:49bands and then Kody get serious.
- 23:51Brother. Husband.
- 23:52Bands brother husband bands and Kody gets very serious and goes
- 23:57no, no, that wouldn't work like don't even bring it up.
- 24:00Shut up. No shutting that out.
- 24:03It's. Like you were just joking, the
- 24:09align with sister wives. And so then they start talking
- 24:15but without the husband. So it's like they're pricing
- 24:18this together but then not connecting the dots that hello,
- 24:21why would anyone want a sister wife ring?
- 24:24They just come up with it like in that moment, like, oh, sister
- 24:32And she's trying to sell it like
- 24:36know when you don't have a sister wife or when you don't
- 24:38have a husband, maybe then you look to your girlfriends like
- 24:43a sister wife because they help take care of your kids and
- 24:46they help do this. I'm like, no, motherfucker, they
- 24:48do not. Right.
- 24:49And you don't ask for that anyway.
- 24:52I, I came back to in my mind here just thinking about the
- 24:58stereotypical polygamist like Mormon family, and I am so
- 25:05sorry, but they're notoriously
- 25:09Do you think that they're going to be like, oh, I have got an
- 25:13extra like $250, whatever these rings are going to go for,
- 25:18which is probably going to be stupidly expensive for what
- 25:21they are, two little pieces of just plain metal.
- 25:25Do you think that they're going to be taking that money to buy
- 25:27themselves sister wife rings? No.
- 25:33No, they are getting the $15 blue light special ring at
- 25:36Kmart. That's what they're.
- 25:38Getting the Cracker Jack box ring so that they can give their
- 25:40kids the popcorn and then that
- 25:43box for some storage later. They're not going out and
- 25:46getting a sister wife ring for
- 25:49And it was a birthday present from the husband, the cracker.
- 25:51Exactly. I'm just imagining the sister
- 25:55wives of the world coming together.
- 25:58Like what was that cartoon where
- 26:01were like the saviors of the planet?
- 26:04How? Yeah.
- 26:05And then they would put their rings up Captain Planet and they
- 26:08would put their rings up and like call calling all sister
- 26:11wives. And then they're all like, we
- 26:14need to collect our EBT to like,
- 26:17together and buy a real piece of
- 26:20Meanwhile they all like literally just fucking hate each
- 26:22other and are in constant competition but whatever.
- 26:25Yeah, right. I wouldn't buy my sister wife a
- 26:27piece of jewelry if my life depended on it.
- 26:29Yeah, Oh my God, I wrote down.
- 26:37and I felt horrible writing that
- 26:40But I have done a little deep dive lately myself into FLDS,
- 26:46which I know that they're different from them, but yeah,
- 26:50the the poor thing. And then these rings and then
- 26:55what we find out about some of
- 27:00it costs and how there's like,
- 27:04of the bands. Come on, cut the fuck on.
- 27:09These guys are nuts. Nuts.
- 27:12We go back to the Suu campus. Yes, I wonder what their mascot
- 27:19is. I know we don't find that out.
- 27:21We're going to say it's the Roaring Roosters.
- 27:24We're going to make it up for them.
- 27:26I was going to say the rule followers considering the
- 27:29contrast to our other school later, but the rule following
- 27:33Roosters. Which would make sense because
- 27:38the Roosters rule the roost. Listen many levels.
- 27:41Oh my God. If you need a marketing team,
- 27:44hit us up. We're just coming up with this
- 27:47on the fly, just like they came up with sister wise best friend
- 27:50rings. Oh my God.
- 27:51Sister wise means super women.
- 27:53My God, we can do, brother. Husbands, no, we will not.
- 27:58So dumb. Oh, Madison very cutely says
- 28:01that Logan is her best friend and that she would miss him if
- 28:04he goes back to Utah. Yeah, but she wants him to be
- 28:08happy, which is so sweet. And I Love Actually getting
- 28:11moments like that from Maddie because how do I say this?
- 28:17I'm just not a fan. Not a fan.
- 28:19So whenever she shows like I'm a
- 28:23empathy for others, God that sounds terrible.
- 28:28She's got a touch of her dad in her.
- 28:30It's so interesting because I haven't watched the later
- 28:33seasons and I've been avoiding
- 28:37that would normally maybe be fed
- 28:40down there little rabbit hole every now and then, right.
- 28:43And I stopped doing that because
- 28:46this fresh perspective of watching it like in the moment
- 28:48for the first time. So I don't know that side of her
- 28:51and everything that I've seen of
- 28:55now has been her kind of in these cute moments or her being
- 29:00silly and funny. But then also being like a
- 29:03little jokey and I see so much
- 29:06such as pulling the prank on Leon, for instance, and then
- 29:11moments where she talks very highly of her and Logan's
- 29:15childhood memories together. So I will be curious when this
- 29:20flip happens because I know you and I are very similar and that
- 29:24I'm not going to disagree with
- 29:27So when is this going to happen and when am I going to start to
- 29:30notice it? I'm so curious.
- 29:32I'm also curious to see if any
- 29:35this because it's hard to put your finger on it even.
- 29:40It's not like she's just like a blatant asshole or something,
- 29:43she's really not. But there's just elements of her
- 29:47that I just find unlikeable and I can't put them into words.
- 29:51I will put them into words. As the seasons progress, we will
- 29:54see it and I will be like talking about it.
- 29:57Oh, and I'm sure I'll notice it too, because just from little
- 30:00like bits that you've told me and like her lifestyle, those
- 30:04people like. Those those people.
- 30:08People that you've described similarly, in my mind they are
- 30:14annoying and self-righteous. Yes.
- 30:16So obviously at some point I'll see it.
- 30:20I think self-righteous is a phrase people would use.
- 30:23Yeah when describing her. Yeah, not me.
- 30:26And I feel like Leon is like that.
- 30:28Yeah, I feel like Leon is very
- 30:32At least that's what I've noticed about Leon.
- 30:35And continues with Leon as well.
- 30:37It gets even worse. So yeah.
- 30:39I'm intrigued. The teens all grab a sandwich.
- 30:48You know, in a food court at Suu?
- 30:50Yeah, Somewhere on the campus,
- 30:52Yeah, it's funny because they're
- 30:54there's this overhead shot. So I'm like, oh, there's
- 30:56surrounds on a second floor. There's balcony.
- 30:59Balcony front, Sir. Yeah, but the flooring disagreed
- 31:04with the fancy, so anyway, it's fine.
- 31:06The teens are grabbing a sandwich.
- 31:07They're sitting around talking
- 31:10stay at home until they're done with school becoming a which is
- 31:14so funny to hear this from them considering that we just had a
- 31:18Brown family confessions where
- 31:23Aspen Aspen says we don't even
- 31:28And that comes up again. In this episode.
- 31:30So it's like there's this duality of him saying things
- 31:35like, well, you know, if I have my way and it's very, it's so
- 31:37reminds me of like religious people that are not spiritual.
- 31:41They're like dogmatic, right? Where it's like, if I you know
- 31:44you, I want you to never leave
- 31:47you find a husband. It's like territorial and
- 31:49ownership vibes, you know? And they very much so are.
- 31:52Seeking his approval. And does this man deserve that?
- 31:58Does does he deserve for his children to be scrambling for
- 32:02his approval when he doesn't have the time of day for them?
- 32:05But that's why they're trying to
- 32:09he's an absentee father at this point.
- 32:11So it is really sad when you get
- 32:17Is that what they say? I don't know.
- 32:18Well, let's go with yes, but yeah.
- 32:21Oh God, like wouldn't be the first time that I messed up
- 32:23this. Saying on this podcast,
- 32:25desperate for approval. From a man who ultimately
- 32:28doesn't care, he's just doing a trope thing he just wants the
- 32:32control over. Them he doesn't really want them
- 32:35there other than just to have his little minions to control
- 32:38right. Yeah, you need to be here and.
- 32:40I'll never see you, but you need
- 32:43Yeah. Weird.
- 32:44Yeah, I feel like. Everybody, like every child from
- 32:47our generation possibly had that
- 32:51where their dad tried to exert
- 32:55struggle. And you're like, but why?
- 32:57Yeah, why does this even matter to you?
- 33:00Because I said so. That was my dad's class because
- 33:03I said so this is my. House and it's like.
- 33:06I understand that if someone's
- 33:09back and just being irrational
- 33:11done with this because I said so.
- 33:13I can actually understand that.
- 33:14It just sucks when that's a default to being like, I
- 33:17actually am not going to critical think.
- 33:19I am not going to actually explain to you a person why I'm
- 33:23concerned about what you're doing or why I'm saying you
- 33:26can't do this thing. You're just going to listen to
- 33:29And it's like God, because I'm just the leader of this.
- 33:33Family. And that's the way that it is.
- 33:38Yes. The Prophet, yeah.
- 33:40Because each. Father is the prophet of his
- 33:43household, right? Yeah.
- 33:44The leader of his household. Yeah.
- 33:46I mean he. Leads sermons in the family room
- 33:52Literally made himself the judge and executioner of his family by
- 34:00that can preach to them and making himself the prophet that
- 34:03everyone has to listen to. He is so fucking self-centered
- 34:11Logan says that he'll. Do church for his mom.
- 34:17So he's considering Suu because of his mom and to make her
- 34:23happy, but he's not super into it right now.
- 34:26And all of them kind of laugh a little bit along about the
- 34:31religion, and they kind of all seem like they're over it and
- 34:36separated from it. Didn't it come across that way?
- 34:40Yes.
- 34:42Well, except for Leon. Except for Leon like.
- 34:44It's just weird because I think,
- 34:47attention to Leon's reaction at this point, to be honest.
- 34:50Yeah, I was paying attention. To Maddie and Aspen, and when
- 34:54Logan says that he would continue to do the church aspect
- 34:59of his life for his mom because he knows it'll make her happy,
- 35:04they kind of Chuck a butt it along.
- 35:05And I got the vibe that they're checked out.
- 35:09Like they're like, OK, cool, like.
- 35:10God, you said that it'd be like if you're if a sibling said
- 35:13something where you're like, OK,
- 35:15you're going to do that. OK, Yeah, the.
- 35:18Adults get to a Mexican restaurant of some sort.
- 35:21I did not catch the name. It was hard to read, but I
- 35:24didn't. They get to a restaurant.
- 35:26And of course, it's all of the
- 35:29It's Kody and Robyn, Janelle, Christine and Meri.
- 35:36Thank you for telling us. Who the parents are in this
- 35:39family we're at the end of season 4 I'm.
- 35:43Just saying, I love it, I love
- 35:46In case you don't know who these
- 35:48parents like in this family well.
- 35:51So good they do parentify some
- 35:54So true. No, yeah, Logan is not.
- 35:56Actually a father, he just has
- 36:01Oh boy, they go to this Mexican restaurant to have a discussion
- 36:06about the homes. Yes, they're going to have a
- 36:09they need. To have a talk a.
- 36:10Serious talk, and my guess is that they're doing it at a
- 36:13restaurant so that they're out
- 36:16around. They can have this serious
- 36:18discussion and not have eavesdropping ears.
- 36:23Oh, little one's listening. Little one's listening, OK.
- 36:26Yeah. So they probably.
- 36:28Each have one of the older children at a home.
- 36:31Robyn has a. Babysitter Robyn couldn't ask
- 36:34any of the other kids. Well, she could ask Mckelty, so
- 36:37at. This point, Yeah, Mckelty was
- 36:39probably watching her kids pretty frequently still.
- 36:41Yeah, so Janelle says we can put
- 36:47day contract to hold the homes
- 36:51But she got some news from Mona that they basically need to do
- 36:56this or they're going to end up losing one of the properties
- 37:00because the builder is getting
- 37:05getting some earnest money down or something, some sort of
- 37:08promise from them since this is 4 lots that he's holding.
- 37:12Yeah, so we got to get serious.
- 37:14Janelle does not say the. Term finite resources here, but
- 37:18it's still popped into my head because Janelle loves to say
- 37:22finite resources. We have those finite resources.
- 37:24We only have finite resources
- 37:25and this is a continued theme for her.
- 37:28We are going to talk about their
- 37:32make sure to let us know that they have finite resources we
- 37:35get into. Conversation about why the homes
- 37:40are so important. Yet again.
- 37:43Kody in his interview on the couch, looks burnt to a crisp.
- 37:48Yeah, yeah, he is looking. Fried.
- 37:51Yeah, he's still and he's got those.
- 37:53The sunglass eyes, Yeah, and his
- 37:56Burnt to shit? Yeah, and his nose.
- 37:58Is still peeling. In red and.
- 38:02He says that. He is anxious about not seeing
- 38:05the kids. He's super anxious about how
- 38:07much, how little he's been seeing the kids.
- 38:12I think he's straight up says.
- 38:15for a long time. 5 days which is
- 38:17Later find out is. Five days or he's volunteers 5
- 38:20days. But at first he just says, I
- 38:22haven't seen some of the kids for a long time.
- 38:24And I was like, Oh my gosh, like, how do you refer to your
- 38:27own children as people you don't
- 38:31they might live a mile away? 2 miles.
- 38:33I mean, Meri's only like a mile away from the furthest person,
- 38:36I think, if I remember correctly.
- 38:38So we're not talking about like, you know, I got to drive an hour
- 38:45road. Plus the way they've been
- 38:46selling. It this entire season is that,
- 38:51children are still going from house to house.
- 38:53So the children have to tell them where they're going to be
- 39:00away. So that's where the issue has
- 39:02been with the kids, is that they still want to be going house to
- 39:06house, but the parents need to keep track of the kids more.
- 39:10They're here, they're there. So in my mind, I'm like, how are
- 39:23Because Meri would basically be the outlier, right?
- 39:25Like Meri lives the furthest away from these houses.
- 39:28She has one child who is driving.
- 39:32I'm not sure if Leon's driving, but you know, I can see how the
- 39:37kids would be Bob Brown. More between Janelle and
- 39:39Christine's house for sure. Maybe even Robyn's at this
- 39:41point. We have our suspicions.
- 39:45We have had suspicions confirmed
- 39:48that Kody's already spending the
- 39:53Robyn's house. So the kids I'm guessing are not
- 39:58going over to Robyn's house. I feel like it's.
- 40:01Important to mention Christine's
- 40:06because we're trying to harken
- 40:09And for people who haven't watched these for a very long
- 40:12time and are still watching the show currently, maybe we can
- 40:17shed a little light on where they're at right now and moments
- 40:21from her book specifically where
- 40:29special time in their lives, Special time in their lives.
- 40:33Time where they're disconnected.
- 40:34And and how when Kody's not seeing.
- 40:38His kids for a long time. I just can't even imagine saying
- 40:44your children by a long distance.
- 40:46I travel for work. I'm gone half the month.
- 40:48I haven't seen my kids in a long time.
- 40:50That's a real sentence to say. You live a mile away at the
- 40:54most. I mean, yeah.
- 40:57So in Christine's book, she talks about how her house is
- 41:03spitting distance from Robyn's and she can see Kody's car
- 41:08constantly at Robyn's. And she is telling Meri and
- 41:12she's telling Janelle. He's always over there.
- 41:16He's always over there. But obviously the wives aren't
- 41:24Meri's. Janelle knows he's not at
- 41:26Christine's. They aren't communicating
- 41:28enough. It's like a bad sitcom because
- 41:35he's here, he's here. I can see him there.
- 41:38And they're not believing her. They're literally not believing
- 41:42her. They're gaslighting her at this
- 41:44point. And she says that she wanted to
- 41:48get closer with Robyn, but she felt like she couldn't even just
- 41:58And she would feel like she was intruding on their time, just
- 42:01popping over and then your husband is there.
- 42:05It's so weird when he's talking in this interview saying he
- 42:10hasn't seen his kids in so long. I could tell looking at
- 42:15Christine's face that she is worked.
- 42:19Yeah, yes, because she. Knows what's?
- 42:21Going on right now, Oh my gosh, so many moments of.
- 42:25That or adjacent to that in this episode, not even getting into
- 42:34But just like the wives averting eye contact, the wives are
- 42:37looking different places. The almost like I'm not going to
- 42:45anything with my face right now because it would probably be
- 42:47negative. So it's like that struggle to do
- 42:49nothing in a sense it's. Yeah.
- 42:53Well, in the interview like. Q&A episode that we just had,
- 42:57and who knows what order that's in.
- 42:59Who knows if that's before this or after?
- 43:01Who knows when that's shot? Yeah, but there was so much
- 43:05tension in that room and so much
- 43:12the wives. And that happens again in this
- 43:15episode while they're having this discussion.
- 43:19Yeah, we definitely get some more of Kody's.
- 43:20True colors in this upcoming conversation he's been.
- 43:24Pretty it's. Not, I'm not going to say he's
- 43:26done extraordinarily well, but
- 43:30He's done OK. He's met expectations when it
- 43:35comes to misleading everybody about who he is.
- 43:39You know, like he's very much,
- 43:41showboat. He's putting on his thing, he's
- 43:43putting on an act. And we're seeing more and more
- 43:45of the cracks and more and more of The Who he really is and how
- 43:48he speaks to these women is very
- 43:52He's been able to pull the wool over people's.
- 43:53Eyes until these last two episodes, you're like.
- 44:00There's no wool over my eyes. There's no wool over my eyes
- 44:02anymore. And I, I knew that this was
- 44:04coming. I knew he spoke to them this
- 44:05way. And there have been moments
- 44:08throughout, you know, the first Four Seasons now where you're
- 44:11like, Oh my God, this guy's an
- 44:13But it comes across as just a foolish man making innocent
- 44:19mistakes because he's a man. And dirt der, he's a dopey man
- 44:23that just doesn't get it right
- 44:26But now we're seeing him be a little talk down to Mansplain,
- 44:33literally talk to them like their children.
- 44:36The faces he makes in this episode when speaking to them or
- 44:41behind their backs. The facade is crumbling.
- 44:46Yes, absolutely. Kody says yes.
- 44:49Let's put an offer in on the home and tell the kids we're
- 44:53putting in an offer on the home.
- 44:55Who's in? And then the wives draw him back
- 45:06It's it's a little hard to go through this conversation
- 45:10because as they do in so many episodes, there's so many cuts
- 45:16conversations where it's just like, Oh my God.
- 45:19Kody says at some point, like we need to keep doing our marketing
- 45:26moment, including This is why we need to get my sister wife's
- 45:30closet live to make money for the new houses.
- 45:33And it's like, OK, that transitions into him referencing
- 45:41then they should. Like vacations is one thing that
- 45:47they be house poor, straight up. Yeah.
- 45:50And Christine says. That she is nervous about being
- 45:53mortgage poor because they have been mortgage poor before and it
- 45:58she was going to put food on the table in those times.
- 46:00And you can tell she's very nervous here.
- 46:03But they get to the restaurant and the whole point is to have
- 46:10And then it's like drawn back in and then they start the
- 46:13discussion. Yes, that is true.
- 46:15It's so fucking weird. Like, he just wants them all to
- 46:18agree with him right away. And then when Christine brings
- 46:26It is true. It's like he's like, I'm going
- 46:29we're going to vote. It's very chem centric.
- 46:31Of course, the discussion is for them to sit there and listen to
- 46:34him for 20 seconds and then agree with him.
- 46:37Like, OK, we're actually here to talk.
- 46:40And when you're in, you said Christine talks about how the
- 46:43finances scare her. They make her nervous.
- 46:45She gives us an example about how when they were broke living
- 46:49in Lehigh because they couldn't actually afford that house,
- 46:53like, they barely could make it work.
- 46:55And she says she didn't get to visit her dad for years because
- 46:59they didn't have any money. And, you know, she was at the
- 47:03time. I mean, she gives examples in
- 47:04her book. And I, I'm not sure if they
- 47:06discuss her like moonlighting on the show, but she would work
- 47:09like nights or week, like, you know, when she wasn't watching
- 47:17She was working like these people had no money at all.
- 47:21They sell her in this. Show as the one who has always
- 47:27Yeah and that is bullshit. She has had jobs and just worked
- 47:34It's weird and to be in that place.
- 47:36Where you're 9:00 to 5:00 as a responsibility is to raise these
- 47:43these people's children during the day because they're out
- 47:46earning money. OK, cool.
- 47:47But then after that to go out and work because there's not
- 47:50enough of it. And, you know, I can't say that
- 47:53it's not necessarily part of her fault because at the
- 47:55beginning, there's times in the show where she's like, you
- 47:57know, bring home the bacon and I'll fry it in the pan.
- 48:00Like she plays into the role. Like, she doesn't make it sound
- 48:03like, no, I worked like she doesn't stand up for herself in
- 48:06that way. But it's still just weird that
- 48:11that. Out for her and make the trope
- 48:22it. When honey, she was
- 48:25homeschooling, she was working beyond 9:00 to 5:00.
- 48:29That's the thing. When you are a stay at home mom,
- 48:3824/7, right? Because you don't get time off.
- 48:41Just because your spouse comes
- 48:42home doesn't mean that they take
- 48:46the evening without you. No.
- 48:49So she's working on top of working and they sell her as the
- 48:55stay at home mom that has never worked and they do her a grave
- 48:59injustice and she does not stand
- 49:02You are right. She lets the trope play out.
- 49:04I wonder so many times. Throughout this show, how much
- 49:08of the element of them having the show rules some of these
- 49:12decisions? You know, it has to be so
- 49:14significant because the way they
- 49:18relationships down the road, we have to say, look at what we
- 49:21have and it's like all you have is a show.
- 49:24Like at some point all they have
- 49:27They don't even have relationships anymore.
- 49:30It's hard to know how much is danced and revolved around them
- 49:33being on a show at this point.
- 49:36this point it's like we're getting glimpses into their life
- 49:39and like we're following their
- 49:40It doesn't there's, I mean, a Meri's pregnancy bed is totally
- 49:44a show thing. I don't know.
- 49:47It's just something to point out.
- 49:49I don't think that this conversation.
- 49:50Is a show bit I think that they have such poor communication
- 49:55that it does play off like a bad
- 49:58Yeah, because you're like how could you not talk to each other
- 50:01about this? How could you not know that he
- 50:04is at this persons house? It's so baffling when you're
- 50:08watching it and it's just like
- 50:12the coyotes coming up on them and you see it from a mile away
- 50:15but they don't see it. And Kody here says that they
- 50:21could cut vacations out. And like you said, Christine
- 50:24talks about how she wasn't able to go and visit her dad for at
- 50:28least a couple of years when they were house poor before.
- 50:32And so she's worried about not
- 50:35again, like her dad, for instance.
- 50:38And Kody flips the script and he
- 50:46commitment of being next to each
- 50:50Does that make sense? Right.
- 50:53So at this. Point the line that you're
- 50:55talking about, we have once again gone from the restaurant
- 50:58to like a couch moment and so it's like they're reflecting
- 51:02back on this as we know it as viewers, right.
- 51:04So they're talking about something that's already
- 51:06happened and Kody does say, you know you're scared of the
- 51:09commitment. Does that make sense in the way
- 51:12that you're saying that like does that make sense?
- 51:15But it's, and I feel like to me as a viewer, it was another
- 51:18layer of awkwardness because it wasn't even in the moment at
- 51:21the restaurant. It's like, once again, he's had
- 51:24time to marinate on this. He he doesn't have to even do
- 51:27this, but he sought this out. How can I twist this to make it
- 51:33a her problem, not an us or a me
- 51:35That she's being selfish and that she can't make this
- 51:38commitment to the homes. Not what indication.
- 51:43Is there that Christine is scared of a commitment to live
- 51:47next to her sister wives? Not at all like that is.
- 51:50Insane if if. Anything she might not want to
- 51:52literally live below them. She was a basement wife in
- 51:55Lehigh. She might not want to share
- 51:56walls and be in the basement. But there has been no indicator
- 51:59that Christine's like I could never live at the end of a
- 52:02cul-de-sac in a separate house
- 52:04Like that is not. We as a viewer have no inkling
- 52:07that that's a thing. No, he's trying to manipulate
- 52:09her. And looking at his face during
- 52:11this time on the couch where he's speaking at her, she's
- 52:16looking at him with this, like, blank stare on her face.
- 52:23Like you're totally manipulating
- 52:25Like I think in her mind, the wheels are turning.
- 52:28Like this motherfucker, he is twisting my words right now and
- 52:33making it into something that's totally not true.
- 52:36Yeah. He's gaslighting her in front of
- 52:40everybody and it's so obvious.
- 52:45And for him to say, does that make sense?
- 52:47Like I'm explaining your own thoughts to you and does it make
- 52:51sense? Right.
- 52:53Utterly bizarre. God.
- 52:54Yeah, tell me how I feel to. Watch Tell Me How I Feel They
- 52:57get back to the restaurant scene
- 53:01a vacation to save her grocery
- 53:05What the fuck? Kody also has a habit.
- 53:08Which we will discover later in the show of referencing anytime
- 53:11anyone goes somewhere as a vacation.
- 53:13OK, so visiting family sure can be a vacation.
- 53:16But sometimes we all know visiting family is more of an
- 53:18obligation than a vacation. Like you're going to see someone
- 53:21and if you're broke especially, it's probably not a vacation.
- 53:26It's more of a burden. So to even phrase it like if you
- 53:29need a vacation, you want to take a vacation, save your
- 53:32grocery money. Well my God it's so insensitive
- 53:37you piece of shit. I got your.
- 53:39Kids to feed and I need to save my grocery money and not feed
- 53:43my kids if I want to do anything.
- 53:46Fuck off Fuck off. That comment was so dirty to me
- 53:52and gross. And then Robyn actually stands.
- 53:57Up for her.
- 53:59And this I will say this line that Robyn says she looks at
- 54:03Kody and says all you needed to do was assure her right now and
- 54:07say, I understand your concern.
- 54:10This is how we can fix it or this is what we can do.
- 54:15And all you needed to do was assure her more.
- 54:18And he looks shocked and does like a clutches his pearls that
- 54:24Robyn said something to him and then we cut to a commercial.
- 54:28But what I love about this? Is our interpretations of this
- 54:36Because I viewed this as an example of Robyn coaching Kody.
- 54:43Like, this is what you're
- 54:45supposed to do in these situations.
- 54:48She speaks Kody. She feels like she needs to
- 54:50translate for people. So when she's saying this is
- 54:54when you say, I know it's scary,
- 54:58it? It's like, OK, so you're just
- 55:01trying to get him to say a nicer
- 55:06And he looks at her with some kind of way.
- 55:08I don't even know how to describe how he was looking at
- 55:10her. But I think it's interesting
- 55:14that you were seeing it as like that she was positively
- 55:16coaching or, or telling him what he should say that would be
- 55:19more nice or palatable or something.
- 55:21And I viewed it as like, Oh my God, this girl is so kind of
- 55:27twisted. Like, this is what you should
- 55:29have said. And I don't think he needs the
- 55:35It's a little weird. Well, and I looked at it more.
- 55:42say to your wife. Because like, if if we were out
- 55:46somewhere together and if my husband said something stupid or
- 55:54Or if I was like, do I look fat in this outfit?
- 55:57And if he was like, yeah, you look like a heifer, you'd
- 56:00probably smack him and be like, this is where you tell her she
- 56:13quiet. And Christine has this like
- 56:16checked out vacant void look on her face and he's speaking at
- 56:20her or like she is a dog that needs to be put in her place.
- 56:25And then Robyn, in my mind, it felt like piped up and stood up
- 56:29for her. Like, hey buddy, that's not what
- 56:35nervous or scared about something.
- 56:37Sure, that's how I. Viewed it.
- 56:40Now, I think if I knew all the manipulative stuff she'd done
- 56:45down the road, I might be viewing it as you're viewing it.
- 56:51started out with good intentions
- 56:54Sometimes when I see things like
- 56:58dialogue between them like this,
- 57:02disingenuous. I think she's trying to do the
- 57:05right thing by them sometimes.
- 57:09This is it. I I wouldn't say that my
- 57:11interpretation, I wouldn't back it up with some adamancy.
- 57:14It's just observing this discussion in this conversation
- 57:18happening. I just had the like little hairs
- 57:20on the back of my neck stand up being like this bitch.
- 57:24If I was married to someone, This is a whole nother dynamic.
- 57:27How do you sit with your husband
- 57:30this with his other spouses and another spouse jumps in to say
- 57:34this is how you should be talking to Chris.
- 57:36I would be like what is happening right now, like
- 57:40because I can see what you're talking about.
- 57:43It's interesting. And it's we have Robyn Robyn's
- 57:46intentions. It's a mystery.
- 57:49It's all just a mystery. I feel like if I were Christine.
- 57:52And nobody had said anything. And he just spoke to me like
- 57:56that. I would be more offended than
- 57:58somebody saying this. I think I'd be like all right,
- 58:02good to know that literally nobody has my back and they
- 58:05heard him twist my words and repeat a different thing back to
- 58:10me than what I actually said. Good to know that you all are
- 58:14seeing this too, huh? Like I would be pissed.
- 58:18Even as you're saying this, I.
- 58:22I've had with someone in my life
- 58:27to tell me how I feel. They really like to tell me what
- 58:30I think and it would be like, well, I know that you're just
- 58:34blah, blah, blah, blah. And I would be like, I'm not
- 58:36even knee jerk reaction upset that you're telling me how I
- 58:38feel. That's not even true.
- 58:41Like I can tell you how I'm feeling.
- 58:43I can tell you what I'm thinking.
- 58:44I haven't even volunteered that you think you know me so well.
- 58:49You do know me really well. This person did know me really
- 58:51well and half the time could probably tell you what I would
- 58:53think about a situation, but that doesn't mean you just get
- 58:56to tell me what I'm thinking as in this kind of manner.
- 59:00It's manipulative and I don't know about all the terms, but
- 59:04you don't get to tell someone this is how you feel and this is
- 59:07how you think. It's fucked up.
- 59:09I don't need you to be my mouthpiece.
- 59:10Like when you open your mouth,
- 59:13Like shut the fuck up. Hate that it's gaslighting.
- 59:16This is like the. Definition of gaslighting.
- 59:18Yeah, I mean, it's not a lot of people use that word now and
- 59:23like, they misuse that word. But this is the definition of
- 59:26gaslighting. What he's doing to her, you
- 59:27know, I try to avoid. Gaslighting and narcissists and
- 59:30things because everyone thinks, you know, someone wronged me,
- 59:32they're a narcissist. It's like it's just not true.
- 59:34It isn't true. Like OK this.
- 59:37Is a very good example. Of gaslighting though.
- 59:40He's literally twisting something that she said and
- 59:42making it into something completely different and then
- 59:45trying to convince her of his way and that that's what she
- 59:48really thought. So weird.
- 59:50It's. Gross and.
- 59:52As a viewer, and like, how could
- 59:57is fucked up that he is doing this?
- 59:59Yeah, I know it was so. Blatant.
- 1:00:01Yeah, Well, OK. Now let's.
- 1:00:04Cut to the vote. OK, so we've had this little
- 1:00:06moment and then we go back to the restaurant and we've got
- 1:00:10Robyn, Janelle and Christine. They say that they would support
- 1:00:14making an offer on the homes, on
- 1:00:17earnest money to hold them. It's almost like a little round
- 1:00:20Robyn thing, but I feel like we didn't even get a good start to
- 1:00:24it. It's just like Kody's just like,
- 1:00:25what do you think? What do you think?
- 1:00:26What do you think? And so they say they would not a
- 1:00:28lot of details. Then it gets to Meri.
- 1:00:32Meri's like, I don't know. It's like, Oh my God, of course
- 1:00:37Meri oh mayor. It's like production is going
- 1:00:41wife. To wife and with each wife's
- 1:00:42issue as to why they haven't agreed yet.
- 1:00:45So first they go to Christine.
- 1:00:50And then they cut back to the restaurant and Christine, will
- 1:00:53they go around? And Christine reluctantly says,
- 1:00:56yes, I get, I am in. And then Meri's turn to put up a
- 1:01:01fight. I don't know.
- 1:01:03I don't know. Well, now we're going to go to
- 1:01:05the couch. And what do you have to say,
- 1:01:07Meri? Why don't you want to do it now?
- 1:01:09And Meri's crying. Again, more tears from Meri.
- 1:01:15I shouldn't be making fun of Meri.
- 1:01:16I cry all the time, but you know, it's just so funny when
- 1:01:20this is like, we're at the restaurant then literally cut
- 1:01:22too and she's literally crying
- 1:01:24a ease in. There wasn't even any foreplay.
- 1:01:26We're just like deep, balls deep
- 1:01:31I noticed that her eyes look very very bright blue and it
- 1:01:34made me wonder if she has colored contacts.
- 1:01:37Yeah, I've thought that. A couple times about her too.
- 1:01:39Yeah, she's crying. Because she's worried about
- 1:01:43people judging her for the size of the home that she wants with
- 1:01:46the one kid that she has and the
- 1:01:50be leaving for college. Yes, the judgement she.
- 1:01:53Feels like she'll get from many people including her family
- 1:01:57which is very important. Including the family, the.
- 1:02:00Family's going to judge her. Meri explains how she feels like
- 1:02:03she's been punished in the past because she only has one child.
- 1:02:08And this is obvious. This is family history going
- 1:02:10back a long time. It's about more than just marry,
- 1:02:13having one child. There's a whole bunch of shit
- 1:02:15which Janelle will bring up and we'll get into.
- 1:02:19But you know, I don't really know how to read Meri sometimes
- 1:02:24because she's starting with this
- 1:02:26punished because I only have one
- 1:02:28And I feel like she almost like volunteers the thing that she
- 1:02:30feels will be disarmed or will
- 1:02:34going to say, this is what they're going to say.
- 1:02:35And it's like, oh, I think you
- 1:02:37people might really say, which
- 1:02:41a big house. They think you want nice shit.
- 1:02:44Janelle thinks he can't budget
- 1:02:47And we'll get there. We get Meri.
- 1:02:49Saying that oh this like, woe is
- 1:02:53the past. They think that I don't deserve
- 1:02:54as much as them because they have more kids than me and so
- 1:02:58why should Meri have as much as we have?
- 1:03:01And she doesn't deserve all of
- 1:03:03And then Kody says he doesn't want her filling the void.
- 1:03:08The lack of children with more
- 1:03:12Well, Meri says. I feel like Kody thinks I just
- 1:03:15want a 7 bedroom house. That's all I want.
- 1:03:18And it's like, OK, I mean, it's also funny with this show
- 1:03:22because of the examples, Like why are we talking about a seven
- 1:03:25bedroom house for a woman who has one child and a quarter of a
- 1:03:29husband? Like, I just, this is just
- 1:03:31ridiculous. But also, you know, then Kody
- 1:03:34tries to jump in with his reassurance and I'm putting
- 1:03:37reassurance in quotes. He wants Meri to recognize that
- 1:03:40he also has a say. And he's doing this as a gesture
- 1:03:43of like, listen, Mare, I, I want
- 1:03:48deserve, you know, and I'm your husband.
- 1:03:49And I should get a say too. And it's like police.
- 1:03:52Police have a say, too. And then she says that she, she
- 1:03:57kind of does this like thing where she maybe like like puts
- 1:04:01her crying a little bit. Well, I might just want a wet
- 1:04:05bar or a deck. Like I didn't want 7 bedrooms
- 1:04:11but perhaps a wet bar or a deck would tide me over.
- 1:04:15Very important to. Emphasize the wet bar and a
- 1:04:18deck. And then I thought to myself.
- 1:04:21Did you just throw a temper tantrum?
- 1:04:24Did you just pretend that this
- 1:04:28problem so that people would cave to you so that you could
- 1:04:32have your wet bar in your deck?
- 1:04:35Meri, Wow. She would never do anything like
- 1:04:47have to conserve more because Meri has spent money that they
- 1:04:56mindset behind why she thinks that Meri should taper back on
- 1:05:07kids are going to be spending more money.
- 1:05:09So if you can, you know, live within your means a little bit
- 1:05:14more so that they can have a little bit more.
- 1:05:15If you are this big family that you say you are, then yes, you
- 1:05:19would want to give to those that
- 1:05:23less than you because they have more needs.
- 1:05:26But then I get her side where it's like no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:05:29no. She is putting in all of the
- 1:05:33effort and the time and has worked and is on the show and
- 1:05:38deserves to get paid the same as
- 1:05:41And just because they have more kids doesn't mean that they
- 1:05:44deserve more. So I get both sides here before
- 1:05:48Meri talks about. How she might want a wet bar in
- 1:05:50a deck, which is gold. It is gold.
- 1:05:55It is precious, precious gold,
- 1:05:58I want to have the conversation to Kody about the house.
- 1:06:02But only with you, not with other people's input and their
- 1:06:06opinion of what I get with less children, which is setting us
- 1:06:09up for this whole the number of children talk and like ushering
- 1:06:14in Janelle's, you know, points
- 1:06:18whatever. And Meri has the interesting
- 1:06:20rebuttal where she says yes, but
- 1:06:22things so they last longer. And it's like, you can tell this
- 1:06:25is a long time. This conversation has probably
- 1:06:28been happening for 20 years or
- 1:06:31It's been going on for a long time.
- 1:06:33Like Meri has her bullet points on why she should have a nice
- 1:06:37coffee table because it gets taken care of.
- 1:06:40The kids don't spill on it. The kids don't do whatever.
- 1:06:42I take care of my things, which is, you know, basically a, I
- 1:06:47don't know. Is it a masked insult to
- 1:06:48Janelle? I don't think it's very masked.
- 1:06:50Like, you don't take care of your shit, which she doesn't.
- 1:06:52I mean, Christine's house, Yeah.
- 1:06:53She was busy raising some kids and working.
- 1:06:55She wasn't busy cleaning. Let me tell you, like, that
- 1:06:58house was a disaster. So, you know, Meri's probably
- 1:07:00like, I keep my shit nice, so I spend money on things and it's
- 1:07:04To her in this moment though, and she says, I have thought
- 1:07:08that in the past. I have had those thoughts in the
- 1:07:13Yeah, I have had those thoughts before.
- 1:07:14And you're right. You don't deserve less than
- 1:07:17because you have less children than us.
- 1:07:19And then Janelle kind of backtracks and says that she
- 1:07:23doesn't want her to feel judged for having one child and that
- 1:07:26she doesn't think that she deserves less just because she
- 1:07:34Savin Robyn. But before we go into Robyn.
- 1:07:37I just want to point out that in this exchange somewhere, I, I
- 1:07:41don't remember exactly where, is when Meri apologizes to Janelle.
- 1:07:46talking about the like, we had
- 1:07:48whatever and you didn't. And Meri's like, I'm sorry,
- 1:07:50Janelle, that you thought that I
- 1:07:53to you and it was. So these people have such, these
- 1:07:58wives, these people have such deep hurt and things that have
- 1:08:04not been addressed for so long.
- 1:08:07Because even Meri's apology to me didn't read like a, it didn't
- 1:08:17thought were yours. Like, Oh my God, like people are
- 1:08:25it's almost like isn't, aren't these moments to actually have
- 1:08:28some real vulnerability and to build some real connection in
- 1:08:31your relationship and mend some things and move forward.
- 1:08:34And it's like they're all just kind of Christine does
- 1:08:38apologize. It did seem legitimate.
- 1:08:40She has a way of talking that's a little like a little almost
- 1:08:44too matter of fact for the time. It almost seemed a little
- 1:08:48insensitive, like I'm sorry for thinking you needed a smaller
- 1:08:50house. And it's like, oh God, you could
- 1:08:57whole like, sorry that you thought I took things from you.
- 1:09:00It's like, Oh my God, it's so
- 1:09:02all over the. Place this conversation is so
- 1:09:04back and forth between everybody
- 1:09:11defensive but also crying. And you can tell some of these
- 1:09:16things they've been thinking about.
- 1:09:18Oh, well, they're washing their hair in the shower.
- 1:09:20This is what I should have said.
- 1:09:21And next time when I get a chance to say this, this is what
- 1:09:26Of when someone apologizes for like, well, I'm sorry if you
- 1:09:29feel like I blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and it's like you're
- 1:09:33Like that's not what you need to
- 1:09:36Like no, when somebody says that
- 1:09:38Apologizing. I'm sorry that you feel that
- 1:09:40way. They're not apologizing for
- 1:09:42their behavior. They're saying, well, your
- 1:09:45reaction isn't what I expected.
- 1:09:47And Nah, that sucks. Yeah, and that's what she did
- 1:09:51here. So true.
- 1:09:52Okay, sorry for interrupting you when you were talking about the
- 1:09:55Robyn point, because that is what we're coming up to.
- 1:09:58Robyn. Robyn Sabin cry brows.
- 1:10:00Here we are rather yuck moment from.
- 1:10:03Robyn She brings up the surrogacy, of course, because
- 1:10:06why not? It has to be brought up.
- 1:10:09Robyn And then Robyn starts a Sabin.
- 1:10:11So she brings up the surrogacy and then she goes.
- 1:10:16I just wonder what her life would be like if she'd had more
- 1:10:21kids, and would it be more fulfilling?
- 1:10:23And what if she had a little boy that was running through her
- 1:10:27house and then scratched his name into some of her nice
- 1:10:30furniture? Maybe her furniture wouldn't be
- 1:10:33so nice if she'd had more kids running through her house.
- 1:10:37No? Your reenaction right now.
- 1:10:40Is oh, it's so precious. It's literally making me cry.
- 1:10:45She is crying. When she's talking about this
- 1:10:48and she's putting her hand down and she's I just.
- 1:10:51And that's why I brought up the surrogacy, because I know how
- 1:10:55important my children are to me and how much they mean to me.
- 1:11:00And for me to bring up when I got her to Meri and I just love.
- 1:11:06Idea of the visual. I had of a little boy running
- 1:11:10through a room and like scratching his name into a
- 1:11:12coffee table. I was like fuck yes, what child
- 1:11:16scratches. Their name into their parents
- 1:11:19like kitchen table or coffee table.
- 1:11:21It's so good you do. That like a normal child.
- 1:11:24And you crawl under your bed and
- 1:11:26you motherfucker. Or in a closet.
- 1:11:29But I. Can't see it, it's so.
- 1:11:31Silly, I mean. It's so great because even when
- 1:11:34watching this, like Robyn's working herself up, She's
- 1:11:36getting herself upset by sharing
- 1:11:40wants this for Meri. Meri does not get any more
- 1:11:45emotional. I noticed if you, I mean, I
- 1:11:48shouldn't say that I looked at
- 1:11:51breakdown and then at the end,
- 1:11:56Like she doesn't look any more
- 1:11:59She's just kind of like watching.
- 1:12:01No, because I'd be offended. If I were her, I'd be like, cuz
- 1:12:05I have less love in my heart because I only have one
- 1:12:07childhood bitch. Because you know how it feels to
- 1:12:10care about children more than I do just because you have more
- 1:12:13kids than me, right? That doesn't track.
- 1:12:17That's not fucking true. It's so bad.
- 1:12:19It's like, yeah, not. Only is this mildly offensive
- 1:12:22EPS? It is, but like what the fuck
- 1:12:27you're just saying to her. Everything that she fears, she
- 1:12:30fears that the family thinks that she doesn't have as much,
- 1:12:35you know, love in her life or as
- 1:12:39doesn't have children. And you're basically saying
- 1:12:42she's never going to know what
- 1:12:44she only has 1, not 5, right? Like and she's been integral.
- 1:12:49In all of these children's lives
- 1:12:52has plenty of children that are not her bio child.
- 1:12:56And yet she's, you know, she's
- 1:12:58And it's all a continued thing
- 1:13:01Like, can't we just get over this?
- 1:13:03Do we have to keep talking about
- 1:13:04Yeah, It's just offensive at this.
- 1:13:06Point and they don't get it. She doesn't fucking get it.
- 1:13:10She doesn't get it. No yuck.
- 1:13:12Shut up. Wow.
- 1:13:13OK, so my face. Hurts from laughing and your
- 1:13:17theatrical presentation. Your version of Robyn crying.
- 1:13:21Thank you for that. Oh boy, I think right now would.
- 1:13:23Be a great time to. Take a break.
- 1:13:25Yes. There's still so much left of
- 1:13:26this episode to get through. Yeah.
- 1:13:28So what we're going to do, ladies and gentlemen, Ladies,
- 1:13:30gentlemen, theys, themes, boys, girls, and others, we are going
- 1:13:35to take a break. We're actually going to take a
- 1:13:37break right now. I'm probably going to go to the
- 1:13:39bathroom and then we're going to
- 1:13:44episode as a bonus. Bright and early Thursday
- 1:13:47morning, 2 episodes in one week.
- 1:13:50A titillating little appetizer. Here, a little loose sushi roll
- 1:13:54appetizer. When you saw loose sushi, I was.
- 1:13:58loose tool again. I don't have any loose stools.
- 1:14:02We'll be right back. Yeah, Hopefully my.
- 1:14:04Stool's nice and firm, OK? Oh God, we'll see you on the
- 1:14:09flip side.
