The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is investing $53 million to overhaul the north jetty at Indian River Inlet, aiming to stabilize and upgrade the aging structure with stone reinforcements and a rebuilt ocean-facing end. Site prep begins March–April 2027, with construction in the water starting May 1, 2027, weather permitting. Before ground breaks, the Corps will collaborate with Delaware State Parks and the contractor in fall 2026 to plan visitor access.
