- 1:55Speaker 2: I know I've already asked you, You got 54 minutes
- 2:01Speaker 2: in today. You were six minutes shy, but you had
- 2:04Speaker 2: to be on the air. You would have had an
- 2:05Speaker 2: hour walk in a new asphalt-infested parking lot. That's pretty
- 2:11Speaker 2: good considering you had to brave those elements. Yeah, and
- 2:14Speaker 2: it really smells out there. We talked about that asphalt smell. Man,
- 2:20Speaker 2: it's been a crazy couple days with them doing that
- 2:22Speaker 2: out there. Yeah, they are redoing the entire parking lot
- 2:25Speaker 2: around the facility. And it's a pretty big facility if
- 2:28Speaker 2: you've never seen it over there off Pear Orchard Road.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And they've, you know, segmented this thing like they do
- 2:33Speaker 2: all projects. So they're right in front of our building
- 2:36Speaker 2: right now. And it just smells like one big asphalt
- 2:38Speaker 2: plant right now in this heat. But we'll get by it.
- 2:43Speaker 2: East Mississippi is looking to get by it. Reported a
- 2:45Speaker 2: couple days ago. Of course, we were off the air yesterday.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We're with you through the rest of the week. We'll
- 2:49Speaker 2: be off on Monday for Labor Day. But as Zach
- 2:52Speaker 2: Barnett prophesied, Points out after blasting the school and conference
- 2:56Speaker 2: officials in a local paper on Thursday, longtime East Mississippi
- 2:59Speaker 2: Community College head coach Buddy Stevens has been fired. And,
- 3:03Speaker 2: of course, we'll be in East Mississippi tomorrow for Hines
- 3:06Speaker 2: versus East, which you can hear right here on 105.9
- 3:09Speaker 2: The Zone. And that will kick at 7. We'll be
- 3:11Speaker 2: over there doing a show from 3 to 6 tomorrow.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So I'm sure we will be talking about that a
- 3:15Speaker 2: little bit coming up tomorrow. Also, the– Well, the athletic
- 3:21Speaker 2: is too. On3. com reporting several SEC programs are exploring adding
- 3:26Speaker 2: former NFL players and 2022 recruits ahead of the season
- 3:30Speaker 2: despite the focus on LSU. It's more than just LSU.
- 3:33Speaker 2: It's other teams in the conference. They're just not saying
- 3:35Speaker 2: a whole lot about it. SEC rosters must be finalized
- 3:39Speaker 2: 24 hours before kickoff. So, I mean, if you're kicking
- 3:43Speaker 2: off on Friday, if you're Oklahoma, you've got to have
- 3:45Speaker 2: that thing buttoned up tomorrow. And Mississippi State and Ole Miss, well,
- 3:49Speaker 2: State's got to have it buttoned up on Friday, Ole
- 3:51Speaker 2: Miss on Saturday. So the clock is ticking on these
- 3:55Speaker 2: SEC rosters. And, of course, the SEC meets in court
- 3:59Speaker 2: tomorrow with all the NFL stuff. Amazon Prime continues to
- 4:04Speaker 2: add to its sports output. And what it's going to show,
- 4:07Speaker 2: Prime Video is adding six NHL teams as local streaming
- 4:11Speaker 2: partners this season, giving Amazon exclusive local streaming rights for
- 4:15Speaker 2: several NHL clubs. and increasing its influence in the post-RSN era.
- 4:22Speaker 2: So Prime is ripping off into the hockey side, so
- 4:27Speaker 2: they're bringing that to Prime. Beaver, did you see this
- 4:30Speaker 2: post from Ryan Pagnetti on the New England Patriots and
- 4:33Speaker 2: Bill Belichick?
- 4:34Speaker 3: No.
- 4:35Speaker 2: This is fascinating, and you can find it on my
- 4:38Speaker 2: XFeed at Jake Wim, or I can send it to you.
- 4:40Speaker 2: This is pretty interesting. For all of the negativity that's
- 4:45Speaker 2: been around Bill Belichick since he went to North Carolina... And,
- 4:47Speaker 2: of course, they beat TCU this past week. They're 1-0.
- 4:50Speaker 2: They'll try to get to 2-0 coming up this week
- 4:52Speaker 2: or whenever they play. I can't remember if they have
- 4:53Speaker 2: an off week or not. Man, the Patriots were so good.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And the Patriots, it was the little things. And Pagnetti
- 5:01Speaker 2: points this out. It's getting a lot of run nationally today.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And just for reference, Ryan Pagnetti on X, at Ryan Pagnetti,
- 5:08Speaker 2: he's a Super Bowl-winning NFL strategy and analytics coach, former Eagles, Jaguars,
- 5:13Speaker 2: and Raiders. And he's got a pretty large following on X.
- 5:16Speaker 2: He says, Much has been made of the Patriots' mysterious
- 5:20Speaker 2: pink stripes. How about yellow ones? He said, I went
- 5:23Speaker 2: through more than a decade of TV broadcasts and uncovered
- 5:26Speaker 2: a diabolically clever piece of Patriot gamesmanship. He said, when
- 5:31Speaker 2: opposing kickers lined up at Gillette Stadium, the video board
- 5:34Speaker 2: displayed a reverse view of the kick, placing a second
- 5:39Speaker 2: offset of yellow uprights directly behind the real ones. And
- 5:45Speaker 2: he puts pictures here, and it is pretty fascinating. And
- 5:47Speaker 2: I never noticed this in all the years of watching
- 5:50Speaker 2: the Patriots and, of course, on TV and seeing it.
- 5:52Speaker 2: But when a kicker lined up to kick an extra
- 5:56Speaker 2: point or a field goal at Gillette Stadium, the video
- 5:59Speaker 2: board would show an inverse picture of what's going on
- 6:03Speaker 2: on the field. And it would show an extra set
- 6:06Speaker 2: of goalposts just kind of offset from the other goalposts.
- 6:09Speaker 2: So really, if you looked at it from a field view,
- 6:11Speaker 2: it almost looks like two sets of field goalposts. which
- 6:15Speaker 2: was pretty darn clever. It says, in windy conditions, even
- 6:18Speaker 2: though orange streamers on the video board appeared to point
- 6:21Speaker 2: in the opposite direction from those atop the physical uprights,
- 6:24Speaker 2: it made an illusion, and it got even more disorienting
- 6:28Speaker 2: if you were on field level. He said, I found
- 6:30Speaker 2: dozens of examples in the same games. I reviewed 52
- 6:33Speaker 2: Patriot field goal attempts. The illusion appeared on Patriot kicks
- 6:37Speaker 2: exactly zero times. So when the Patriots were kicking a
- 6:41Speaker 2: field goal or extra point, the video board cut off.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Psh.
- 6:44Speaker 2: And when the opposing team was on there and they
- 6:46Speaker 2: ran their kicking unit on, they cut it on. He
- 6:49Speaker 2: went on to say that we actually tried copying the
- 6:53Speaker 2: idea when I was in Philadelphia, but the location of
- 6:55Speaker 2: the video board and Lincoln Financial Field made it nearly useless.
- 7:00Speaker 2: It is a perfect encapsulation of the Patriots dynasty. No
- 7:05Speaker 2: detail was too small and no possible edge was left unexplored.
- 7:09Speaker 2: He said we talked about the tactic and more. He
- 7:12Speaker 2: has a podcast that's out. So I just thought this
- 7:16Speaker 2: was a pretty fascinating read. I never picked up on it. Obviously,
- 7:20Speaker 2: a lot of people never picked up on it because
- 7:21Speaker 2: several big national outlets are talking about it now in
- 7:27Speaker 2: Ryan Pagnetti's excerpt on the New England Patriots and what
- 7:30Speaker 2: they were doing. Tennessee football has signed a jersey patch
- 7:34Speaker 2: sponsorship with First Horizon. The 10-year deal is worth more
- 7:37Speaker 2: than $ 120 million over the span of the deal. So
- 7:41Speaker 2: I would think they would color this thing differently. because
- 7:43Speaker 2: it's the same color as the jersey. It's orange outlined
- 7:47Speaker 2: in white. So it's kind of hard to see, but
- 7:49Speaker 2: it is a first-round. It's hard to believe it'll be
- 7:50Speaker 2: a patch like that, $ 120 million. Also, Georgia Southern quarterback
- 7:55Speaker 2: Max Johnson, we talked about him a few weeks ago.
- 7:58Speaker 2: On three, did a one-on-one with him. Four schools, five
- 8:02Speaker 2: head coaches, seven offensive coordinators in seven years. Quote, thank
- 8:06Speaker 2: goodness for the portal. Let me say that again. Four schools,
- 8:10Speaker 2: five head coaches... seven offensive coordinators in seven years for
- 8:14Speaker 2: Max Johnson, who started at LSU. He went on to
- 8:16Speaker 2: Texas A & M. He went to North Carolina. And
- 8:20Speaker 2: now he is at Georgia Southern. Also, Archie Manning raves
- 8:24Speaker 2: to Chris Lowe about Mississippi State's quarterback, Camario Taylor, and
- 8:28Speaker 2: his performance at the Manning Passing Academy. He said he
- 8:33Speaker 2: was impressive or as impressive as anybody we had this summer.
- 8:36Speaker 2: He was just a flat-out good-looking kid, built well, athletic
- 8:39Speaker 2: as hell, and could throw it all over the field.
- 8:41Speaker 2: He said, you don't see many kids that big that
- 8:44Speaker 2: can move that way and that can throw it the
- 8:46Speaker 2: way he can. So Camario Taylor getting a lot of
- 8:49Speaker 2: love from Archie Manning. Also, one more nugget or note
- 8:55Speaker 2: here real quickly. Georgia Tech is a big favorite courtesy
- 8:58Speaker 2: of Poly Market tomorrow night. Can Deion Sanders and the
- 9:00Speaker 2: Buffaloes pull off the upset? Right now the betting public,

- 11:21Speaker 2: to you by our friends at ameristar casino all right
- 11:28Speaker 2: let me move some stuff over here there we go
- 11:30Speaker 2: all right back over this way all right let's get
- 11:32Speaker 2: some more notes shall we john talty reporting quote you
- 11:36Speaker 2: must or you got to quote keep lane away from
- 11:38Speaker 2: the girls that are in college nick saban said according
- 11:41Speaker 2: to one former coach lane kiffin's chaotic alabama era saban's
- 11:45Speaker 2: frustrations and nights um at uh a uh Innisfree Irish Pub.
- 11:53Speaker 2: So Vanity Fair posted this on Lane Kiffin. This is
- 11:56Speaker 2: very interesting. They did this a few days before the season,
- 11:58Speaker 2: but really kind of outlining how Lane Kiffin allegedly was
- 12:03Speaker 2: at Alabama, which some of these stories have been going
- 12:05Speaker 2: on for years and how Lane Kiffin acted in Tuscaloosa.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And then if you talk to some people, some of
- 12:12Speaker 2: that might have been going on in Oxford, allegedly. So,
- 12:15Speaker 2: you know, I have no idea. But typically where there's smoke,
- 12:18Speaker 2: There is a little fire, and I think most everybody
- 12:21Speaker 2: knows that, you know, based on the tea leaves, Lane
- 12:23Speaker 2: Kiffin fancies himself as a ladies' man. All right, let's
- 12:27Speaker 2: move on. So that is out there. Clemson has named
- 12:32Speaker 2: Christopher Vazinha as its starting quarterback. Dabo Swinney has reported.
- 12:36Speaker 2: So I know nothing of this Christopher Vazinha. I will
- 12:41Speaker 2: tell you this. He will probably be pulled for in,
- 12:46Speaker 2: you know, most of the country when LSU plays. Clemson
- 12:50Speaker 2: on Saturday night on Tiger Stadium. So we'll all have
- 12:52Speaker 2: to check out Zinnia and see what he's doing. Going
- 12:56Speaker 2: back to this NFL-SEC deal where several SEC programs are
- 13:00Speaker 2: exploring adding former NFL players, there was one source that
- 13:04Speaker 2: told Brett McMurphy, quote, I can't believe we have to
- 13:07Speaker 2: run through all these hoops to keep NFL players from
- 13:10Speaker 2: playing college football. Texas Tech quarterback Will Hammond tells Brett McMurphy, quote,
- 13:17Speaker 2: What's the fun in competing when no one's hating on you?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Joey McGuire, the head football coach at Texas Tech, said
- 13:25Speaker 2: that Will, told Will Hammond, said people are doubting you.
- 13:28Speaker 2: If you don't know who Will Hammond is, that's the
- 13:30Speaker 2: guy that was supposed to be the quarterback until he
- 13:32Speaker 2: took an injury last year, late in the year for
- 13:34Speaker 2: this year, and then they signed Brendan Sorsby from Cincinnati.
- 13:39Speaker 2: By all accounts, he is healthy. But McGuire, the head
- 13:43Speaker 2: football coach, has been giving him the business saying, hey, look,
- 13:45Speaker 2: people are doubting you. People don't believe in you. If
- 13:47Speaker 2: Sorsby was still our quarterback, we'd be a top five
- 13:49Speaker 2: team in the preseason rankings. But because it's you, we're
- 13:52Speaker 2: number 12. So a little reverse psychology there in the
- 13:56Speaker 2: locker room of Texas Tech. And Hammond tells, Brett McMurphy quoted,
- 13:59Speaker 2: just fires me up, dude. He said, if people think
- 14:01Speaker 2: this team's going to be any different than it was
- 14:03Speaker 2: going to be before, that's where we're not going to be.
- 14:07Speaker 2: We're going to be better than we were before. He
- 14:09Speaker 2: said people are wrong. So we'll see. Again, you talk
- 14:12Speaker 2: right up to kickoff, and talking season is about to
- 14:15Speaker 2: come to an end. Also, Clemson head football coach Davo
- 14:19Speaker 2: Sweeney on preparing for LSU and potentially former NFL players.
- 14:22Speaker 2: He says, honestly, it's embarrassing. That's where we are. He said,
- 14:26Speaker 2: I don't blame the kids, but people trying to take
- 14:28Speaker 2: advantage of the system, it's embarrassing. But we've been there
- 14:32Speaker 2: for a while. Quote, no pun intended, but we're just
- 14:35Speaker 2: going to stay in our lane. So that's a Davo-ism
- 14:39Speaker 2: right there, trying to play on words. As McMurphy says,
- 14:43Speaker 2: put it on a T-shirt, stay in our lane. Ross
- 14:46Speaker 2: Dillinger reporting today the SEC filed a brief with the
- 14:49Speaker 2: Louisiana court ahead of Thursday's injunction hearing, including an affidavit
- 14:53Speaker 2: from Commissioner Greg Sankey. The brief outlines why the SEC
- 14:58Speaker 2: should hold authority to enforce its rules against a member
- 15:01Speaker 2: school and that Sankey should not be held liable. And
- 15:05Speaker 2: I'm going to read the whole deal. Sankey says, quote,
- 15:07Speaker 2: each roster spot filled by a former pro athlete is
- 15:10Speaker 2: a roster spot that becomes unavailable to a high school
- 15:13Speaker 2: student athlete or another less developed athlete who would benefit
- 15:17Speaker 2: from the educational and athletic growth opportunities and available through
- 15:22Speaker 2: college sports. And he's absolutely correct. I mean, that more
- 15:27Speaker 2: than anything, outside of the fact that we've never lived
- 15:29Speaker 2: in a world where pro players come back to play a, quote,
- 15:32Speaker 2: amateur sport, and I'm putting that in air quotes, because
- 15:35Speaker 2: college sports are supposed to be amateur. We know that
- 15:38Speaker 2: they're not. They're no longer amateur sports. They're all professional
- 15:42Speaker 2: sports because you're getting paid. But that's who it hurts.
- 15:45Speaker 2: It hurts the high school guys and the high school girls,
- 15:49Speaker 2: and then it hurts those that have not yet been
- 15:51Speaker 2: able to be developed. Maybe it's a young person in
- 15:54Speaker 2: basketball or football or baseball. They've got a lot of potential.
- 15:58Speaker 2: They need to be developed. It may take a year
- 15:59Speaker 2: or two. They may have to redshirt. It hurts those
- 16:01Speaker 2: people as well. Also, Sankey details the penalties afforded to
- 16:06Speaker 2: him and presidents, says no president voted against the penalty's
- 16:10Speaker 2: Released in memos last week, LSU's Wade Rousseau abstained, clarifies
- 16:15Speaker 2: SEC is not an NCAA agent, and says permitting pro
- 16:19Speaker 2: players would create unfairness for high school athletes. And I
- 16:23Speaker 2: do like the fact that Sankey's leaning into the high
- 16:26Speaker 2: school side, not that this is a play on words.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I mean, it is absolutely true. The high schools, again,
- 16:33Speaker 2: are the ones, the high school guys and girls are
- 16:34Speaker 2: the ones that's getting really, really dinged in this. I mean,
- 16:38Speaker 2: think about this. You go to the judge and you say,
- 16:41Speaker 2: you're really going to rule in favor of a pro
- 16:43Speaker 2: player coming back who's already played college to play college
- 16:46Speaker 2: again in lieu of a high school guy that maybe
- 16:49Speaker 2: doesn't have any means to go to college. They don't
- 16:51Speaker 2: have money. Their family doesn't have money. And this is
- 16:55Speaker 2: an opportunity for them to grow, you know, mentally, physically, spiritually, everything,
- 17:00Speaker 2: and their craft, their school, and you're going to take
- 17:02Speaker 2: that away from them for this, really? I mean, I.
- 17:06Speaker 2: That is interesting when you look at it from that way.
- 17:10Speaker 2: On a two-hour call today, college football playoff leaders did
- 17:13Speaker 2: indeed discuss implementing participation rules that disqualify programs rostering former
- 17:20Speaker 2: pro players. They also explored expansion towards the 2014 playoff,
- 17:25Speaker 2: another meeting to deeper examine the issues that are expected
- 17:30Speaker 2: later this month. And Nick Saban, if you haven't seen it,
- 17:34Speaker 2: it's out there on X. They've already put it out there.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Nick Saban will be the subject of a TV commercial
- 17:40Speaker 2: airing during college football's opening weekend that is supportive of
- 17:43Speaker 2: the Protect College Sports Act. He told participants today on
- 17:47Speaker 2: a call of more than 200 college sports stakeholders and
- 17:50Speaker 2: congressional lawmakers. Here's the problem with putting Nick Saban as
- 17:55Speaker 2: the face of this video. Remember, this is the same
- 17:58Speaker 2: college sports act. that just basically died and it never
- 18:02Speaker 2: got voted on. So now they're trying to put logs
- 18:06Speaker 2: under the fire, put gasoline on it, and light it again.
- 18:10Speaker 2: So they're going to put Nick Saban as the face
- 18:11Speaker 2: of this thing. Well, when you hear Nick Saban talk
- 18:14Speaker 2: about equity and fairness and all this, and you can
- 18:18Speaker 2: go read the comments. It's everywhere. Most people aren't buying
- 18:21Speaker 2: what Nick Saban's selling because most people are going to
- 18:24Speaker 2: say this exact same thing, what I'm fixing to say,
- 18:27Speaker 2: in one form or another. How can you preach to
- 18:29Speaker 2: the rest of us about fairness and all this stuff
- 18:33Speaker 2: in college sports when you were allegedly running a rough
- 18:37Speaker 2: shot pay-for-play program before anybody else in Alabama? There's no
- 18:42Speaker 2: way that you can really do this with a straight face.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I mean, a lot of people feel like outside of
- 18:47Speaker 2: his age, Nick Saban got out of coaching because he
- 18:51Speaker 2: saw the writing on the wall. He knew the advantage
- 18:53Speaker 2: that he had. And look, that doesn't mean... The reason
- 18:57Speaker 2: Alabama won is because they were allegedly paying players. But
- 19:01Speaker 2: that was a big part of it, if that alleged
- 19:04Speaker 2: accusation is true. Which, again, how many Dodge Chargers really
- 19:09Speaker 2: do people drive in Alabama? Because half the team always
- 19:12Speaker 2: drove Dodge Chargers. And we're talking half. That's like 40-something players.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know that it was just a
- 19:18Speaker 2: coincidence that every year when they recruited players, those guys
- 19:22Speaker 2: really all loved Dodge Chargers. Maybe they did. I don't know.
- 19:26Speaker 2: or other things that were going on in Tuscaloosa. So
- 19:28Speaker 2: a lot of people are looking at it going, Nick,
- 19:30Speaker 2: come on, you can't be the face of this because
- 19:33Speaker 2: you were doing this before everybody else was doing it,
- 19:35Speaker 2: and now you want to talk about spreading the love
- 19:37Speaker 2: and being fair. It's not going to happen. It's not
- 19:40Speaker 2: going to happen. People aren't buying it. But that is
- 19:42Speaker 2: happening coming up this weekend. The call with commissioners and
- 19:45Speaker 2: presidents and university board members featured Saban, Randy Levine, Cody Campbell,
- 19:50Speaker 2: and Senator Eric Schmidt and Maria Cantwell, lawmakers updated stakeholders
- 19:56Speaker 2: on the legislation ahead of a possible vote when Congress
- 19:59Speaker 2: returns September 15th. We're brought to you by our friends

- 22:29Speaker 2: Ole Miss with a big week one matchup coming up
- 22:31Speaker 2: this weekend against Louisville. Katz, welcome in, brother. How are
- 22:34Speaker 2: you doing?
- 22:35Speaker 5: I'm just happy there's almost football here because I swear
- 22:39Speaker 5: every day the news cycle gets crazier with some stuff
- 22:43Speaker 5: happening in Baton Rouge. So I'm just glad that we
- 22:45Speaker 5: are almost there.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, we've seen– before we get to Ole
- 22:50Speaker 2: Miss and Louisville, let me get your take on this.
- 22:52Speaker 2: We've seen times where, you know, like when the U
- 22:54Speaker 2: was coming up and there was issues and you knew
- 22:56Speaker 2: there was issues or Florida State and, you know, Shoe
- 22:59Speaker 2: Gate or Tattoo Gate at Ohio State, you know, things
- 23:01Speaker 2: just kind of burned and churned and then things happened.
- 23:04Speaker 2: And then programs maybe because of culture just kind of collapsed. Man,
- 23:08Speaker 2: they went in down there and they have just lit
- 23:10Speaker 2: the whole place on fire in like four months down
- 23:12Speaker 2: in Baton Rouge.
- 23:14Speaker 5: I mean, it's just something new every day and it's
- 23:18Speaker 5: not even always stuff that like– actually like happened recently.
- 23:22Speaker 5: I mean, the latest stuff today from, you know, the
- 23:25Speaker 5: excerpt of a book coming out, uh, was backing from
- 23:28Speaker 5: stuff in Tuscaloosa and, uh, yeah, it's just, it's, there's
- 23:33Speaker 5: always something and it's, you know, I, you gotta, it's,
- 23:36Speaker 5: it's wild because, you know, this is a, an LSU
- 23:39Speaker 5: program that is, uh, you know, they're a national power
- 23:42Speaker 5: and then they take themselves really seriously and they don't accept,
- 23:46Speaker 5: you know, bad seasons. We just saw that with Brian Kelly, uh,
- 23:49Speaker 5: They fired him after eight, nine win seasons. If the
- 23:56Speaker 5: shenanigans keep happening and they lose some games, it'll be
- 24:01Speaker 5: interesting to see how long everyone puts up with it.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Michael Katz on your radio. Get him on X. Check
- 24:08Speaker 2: him out at the Northeast Mississippi Daily and, of course,
- 24:11Speaker 2: on Facebook as well. Wednesday edition of the program. I
- 24:14Speaker 2: totally agree. I would say that most of the country...
- 24:17Speaker 2: is pulling for Clemson on this weekend on Saturday night.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Most people probably don't even know who Zanini is, the
- 24:23Speaker 2: new quarterback. They'll be pulling for him. If Clemson takes
- 24:26Speaker 2: this thing into the fourth quarter, boy, there's going to
- 24:28Speaker 2: be a lot of eyeballs on that ballgame come Saturday night.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, it was automatically going to be a
- 24:37Speaker 5: very highly viewed game, just with it being an LSU
- 24:40Speaker 5: game and an LSU home game and obviously Lane's first
- 24:43Speaker 5: game there um all eyes were going to be on
- 24:46Speaker 5: it but man if this thing is close like you
- 24:48Speaker 5: said in the fourth it's going to be really really
- 24:51Speaker 5: interesting to see how uh to see how that goes
- 24:54Speaker 5: because you know when he was at Ole Miss uh
- 24:57Speaker 5: sometimes the close games didn't go Ole Miss's way last
- 25:00Speaker 5: year they did and I think that was a big
- 25:02Speaker 5: reason why uh you know they were able to um
- 25:05Speaker 5: have the sort of season they did they won those
- 25:07Speaker 5: close games but that has not always been the case
- 25:10Speaker 5: you know, we might see right away what, you know,
- 25:13Speaker 5: what LSU is, what they have in store.
- 25:17Speaker 2: All right, let's move forward, Ole Miss, with a big
- 25:19Speaker 2: one coming up this weekend against the Louisville Cardinals. And
- 25:22Speaker 2: you're looking at a team who's, you know, had some success,
- 25:25Speaker 2: nine wins in 2024. In 2025, they went nine and four.
- 25:30Speaker 2: They had a three-point loss to Virginia. They had a
- 25:32Speaker 2: three-point loss to Cal, a one-point loss to Clemson. I mean,
- 25:35Speaker 2: you know, Jeff Brom has had this team, you know,
- 25:39Speaker 2: Right there in the ACC, the line in Vegas, depending
- 25:42Speaker 2: on where you're shopping around, is anywhere from six to
- 25:44Speaker 2: seven and a half. Just your initial thoughts on the
- 25:47Speaker 2: opponent before we get into some specifics.
- 25:50Speaker 5: I mean, they're really good. I mean, this is a
- 25:53Speaker 5: really consistent program under Jeff Braum. It seems a little
- 25:58Speaker 5: bit different because, you know, they've had new quarterbacks, each
- 26:03Speaker 5: Braum's first three years, or different quarterbacks. But they all
- 26:07Speaker 5: at least had some experience, you know, going back to
- 26:10Speaker 5: Tyler Shuck and Miller Moss and guys like that. This
- 26:13Speaker 5: is a little bit different because Lincoln Kienholz, you know,
- 26:16Speaker 5: doesn't really have a ton of reps despite being, you know,
- 26:21Speaker 5: a three-year guy at Ohio State. But he's super talented,
- 26:24Speaker 5: and it always seems like the quarterback position is in
- 26:27Speaker 5: pretty good hands there. They play good defense. I think
- 26:30Speaker 5: that always gets sort of, you know, we always think
- 26:33Speaker 5: about bomb teams in the offense. they always play really
- 26:37Speaker 5: good defense, and then they run the ball really well.
- 26:39Speaker 5: They've got two electric running backs, Isaac Brown and Keywon Brown,
- 26:44Speaker 5: who would be 1A and 1A on most teams in
- 26:48Speaker 5: the country, but you've got maybe as good of a
- 26:51Speaker 5: duo as there is in the country, and you've got
- 26:53Speaker 5: a quarterback who, yeah, there's not a lot of tape
- 26:55Speaker 5: on him, but he runs. He's a good runner. He's
- 27:01Speaker 5: going back to high school. He ran for 1,400 yards
- 27:03Speaker 5: his senior year, so This is a really good team.
- 27:06Speaker 5: This is not a gimme by any stretch. I mean,
- 27:10Speaker 5: it's a top 25 matchup, so I don't know if
- 27:13Speaker 5: anyone is expecting this to be like an easy game
- 27:16Speaker 5: or a game where someone cruises. That could happen, of course.
- 27:22Speaker 5: But as of right now, I think this is going
- 27:24Speaker 5: to be a really, really good game. You know, first
- 27:26Speaker 5: games of the season are always a little bit weird.
- 27:29Speaker 5: Knocking off the rough, you've got new coaches and people–
- 27:33Speaker 5: and new positions, new players, all that sort of stuff.
- 27:37Speaker 5: I think there's a chance this is a really good one.
- 27:39Speaker 2: No, I agree with you. I think it has a
- 27:41Speaker 2: chance to be a good one. And, you know, this
- 27:42Speaker 2: would be, you know, if you're talking about college football
- 27:45Speaker 2: playoff aspirations, which Ole Miss obviously has, to get a
- 27:48Speaker 2: win like this right out the gate, I mean, that's
- 27:50Speaker 2: a good look for the committee, is it not?
- 27:53Speaker 7: Absolutely.
- 27:54Speaker 5: You know, non-conference, you know, with the nine-game SEC schedule,
- 27:58Speaker 5: you don't get a ton of opportunities now.
- 28:00Speaker 7: In the non-con, and when you do have non-conference games.
- 28:04Speaker 5: A lot of teams have opted to, you know, play,
- 28:07Speaker 5: I hate to use the term, buy games. But, you know,
- 28:11Speaker 5: and Ole Miss has a couple of those on their schedule.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Games that, at least at first glance, look like they're
- 28:16Speaker 5: going to be fairly anticlimactic in, you know, Charlotte and Wofford.
- 28:22Speaker 5: But to have a game like this on the schedule,
- 28:24Speaker 5: I think, is really big. And then if you look
- 28:26Speaker 5: at it from Louisville's perspective, too, this is huge for them.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Even if they aren't able to win the ACC, if
- 28:35Speaker 5: you're able to get a win over a top-ten Ole
- 28:36Speaker 5: Miss team in a non-conference game, I think you're feeling
- 28:39Speaker 5: really good. Let's not forget, I know every year is different,
- 28:43Speaker 5: but this is a little team that beat Miami last
- 28:46Speaker 5: year in Coral Gables. There's a lot at stake in
- 28:50Speaker 5: this game for sure.
- 28:52Speaker 2: What about injuries? Any updates on injuries or things of
- 28:56Speaker 2: that nature?
- 28:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, as you know, I know it's a
- 29:01Speaker 7: new guy in charge, but trying to get a precise
- 29:04Speaker 7: injury update is akin to trying to get the nuclear codes.
- 29:08Speaker 5: But at least as of now, I don't think there's
- 29:12Speaker 5: anything particularly serious. Obviously some camp stuff, guys getting banged up,
- 29:20Speaker 5: but it sounds like the spots that they're not concerned
- 29:26Speaker 5: about But they were having to kind of work through
- 29:29Speaker 5: some depth issues at corner and at offensive line. But
- 29:33Speaker 5: none of those sounded like they were going to be long-term.
- 29:36Speaker 5: So I think all things considered, this should be a
- 29:39Speaker 5: fairly full season.
- 29:40Speaker 7: Team.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Let me get you on your way with this. There
- 29:43Speaker 2: was a report earlier today that I can't remember who
- 29:46Speaker 2: put it out that said basically not only LSU, other
- 29:49Speaker 2: teams are looking at possible players to return. There might
- 29:52Speaker 2: have been one or two, maybe not. I can't remember
- 29:54Speaker 2: that Ole Miss had or even Mississippi State or other
- 29:56Speaker 2: teams in the SEC. rosters have to be finalized 24
- 29:59Speaker 2: hours prior to kickoff so Ole Miss gets an extra day.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Is there any guys lingering out there if things go
- 30:05Speaker 2: the way of the teams at the SEC court hearings tomorrow?
- 30:10Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I think at least from what we've
- 30:16Speaker 5: heard and from what Pete Golding has said, you know,
- 30:19Speaker 5: unless there was a major injury and They needed to
- 30:24Speaker 5: kind of go on the free agent market, and this
- 30:27Speaker 5: was him talking about some of the Ole Miss players
- 30:30Speaker 5: who were trying to come back for another year. It
- 30:34Speaker 5: sounds like they don't want to change the construction of
- 30:40Speaker 5: this roster. I think they would like this roster. I
- 30:44Speaker 5: think that they're confident in the pieces that they've put
- 30:49Speaker 5: together and You know, again, I know it's hard to
- 30:53Speaker 5: tell what's going to happen if you bring in new pieces. But,
- 30:55Speaker 5: you know, listen, I do think there is something to
- 30:58Speaker 5: be said for chemistry. And if you're bringing in new guys,
- 31:01Speaker 5: you know, the week of a game, you know, who
- 31:05Speaker 5: knows what that does to a team. So I know
- 31:09Speaker 5: coaches are always trying to get the best players that
- 31:11Speaker 5: they possibly can on the rosters. And that's never going
- 31:14Speaker 5: to be– that's never going to change. But at least
- 31:17Speaker 5: as of now– it seems like Ole Miss is pretty
- 31:21Speaker 5: confident in what they have. But, of course, that's famous
- 31:24Speaker 5: last words.
- 31:25Speaker 2: No doubt about it. He's Michael Katz. Get him on X.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Check him out in northeast Mississippi. He'll have you teed
- 31:29Speaker 2: up for Ole Miss and Louisville coming up this weekend. Katz,
- 31:32Speaker 2: have a great Labor Day weekend. I know you're going

- 31:36Speaker 2: talk to you soon.
- 31:37Speaker 5: Appreciate you.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Thank you, brother. Appreciate it. Michael Katz jumping on your
- 31:41Speaker 2: radio talking Ole Miss. Louisville coming up this weekend. It's
- 31:43Speaker 2: one of the biggest ones of the weekend. Should be
- 31:45Speaker 2: a great football game in Nashville, Tennessee. I know several
- 31:48Speaker 2: of you guys and girls are going to be headed
- 31:49Speaker 2: up to Nashville this weekend as well. We're brought to
- 31:52Speaker 2: you by the Gurkha Cigar Lounge. Get out and grab

- 32:03Speaker 3: Do you stay up at night thinking about the lack
- 32:05Speaker 3: of push from your team's offensive line? Do you spill
- 32:07Speaker 3: your Dr. Pepper arguing with your TV because pundits are
- 32:10Speaker 3: torching your defense?
- 32:12Speaker 1: You're not crazy.
- 32:13Speaker 2: You're a fan.
- 32:14Speaker 3: And no college football fan can fan to their fullest
- 32:16Speaker 3: without the bold, one-of-a-kind.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Taste of Dr. Pepper.
- 32:19Speaker 3: It won't fix any of.
- 32:20Speaker 1: The problems we previously.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Stated, but it's delicious.
- 32:23Speaker 3: And drinking it at a tailgate will make you look
- 32:25Speaker 3: like a ball knower, which is a great consolation prize
- 32:28Speaker 3: for the lack of push your offensive line gets. College football.

- 33:32Speaker 6: 601-885-3776.
- 33:32Speaker 2: And let me get some more notes here. The athlete
- 33:33Speaker 2: rev share cap of $ 21. 3 million. for 26-27 has increased. Remember,
- 33:44Speaker 2: it's going up 4%, somewhere around 4% every year. It's
- 33:49Speaker 2: now increased to $ 21. 58 million after an audit of power
- 33:54Speaker 2: of conference revenues. The cap last year, year one of
- 33:57Speaker 2: the House settlement, $ 20. 5 million. So there was an automatic
- 34:01Speaker 2: 4% boost plus an additional one-time increase. So they increased
- 34:05Speaker 2: it just a little bit. Now, again, that's the money
- 34:08Speaker 2: allocated to the universities. That doesn't count private funds. That
- 34:11Speaker 2: doesn't count nil deals and all that i mean because
- 34:14Speaker 2: remember that goes across the entire athletic department now most
- 34:19Speaker 2: of that money is going to be housed in the
- 34:20Speaker 2: football building but they segment out some of that for
- 34:24Speaker 2: basketball and baseball and you know the non-aq sports you
- 34:28Speaker 2: know your your soccers and tennis and golf and all
- 34:31Speaker 2: that track and field and all that stuff but uh
- 34:34Speaker 2: that is that is up there all right so we
- 34:35Speaker 2: were telling you uh earlier about the patriots in this
- 34:38Speaker 2: ryan pagneti uh stores, you know, kind of excerpt on X,
- 34:42Speaker 2: which was fascinating about the Patriots and the way just
- 34:45Speaker 2: one of the many things that they used to do
- 34:47Speaker 2: with Phil goalposts on the, on the video board. And
- 34:50Speaker 2: if you look at it from a kicker's point of view,
- 34:53Speaker 2: it does look really, really weird. Um, I mean, you
- 34:57Speaker 2: look like you got two goalposts kind of intermingling there
- 35:00Speaker 2: with a video board and you've got the, uh, flags
- 35:03Speaker 2: going one way at the top of the uprights on,
- 35:05Speaker 2: on the real goalposts and they're going the opposite way
- 35:09Speaker 2: on the others. Um, Yeah, this is just fascinating, absolutely fascinating,
- 35:13Speaker 2: what the New England Patriots was able to do as
- 35:16Speaker 2: an organization. Texas A & M quarterback Marcel Reed has
- 35:20Speaker 2: called out Texas as if we need more talking before
- 35:23Speaker 2: football starts. He says, we don't like Texas. I don't
- 35:25Speaker 2: like Texas. It sucks that we've lost to them twice,
- 35:28Speaker 2: but they're coming here this year, so they're going to
- 35:30Speaker 2: have to pay. I've got something for them for sure.
- 35:33Speaker 2: All right, mark it down. Highlight it. Let's see. Maybe
- 35:37Speaker 2: he does. Maybe he doesn't. but Marcel Reed has said
- 35:42Speaker 2: they've got to pay, and he's got something for them.
- 35:46Speaker 2: He better not mess around and throw like three picks
- 35:49Speaker 2: in that game. So they just, I mean, I don't
- 35:52Speaker 2: know why some guys want to add bulletin board material,
- 35:54Speaker 2: especially on a rivalry game. Not that, you know, that
- 35:56Speaker 2: matters through the whole game, but the buildup to the
- 35:58Speaker 2: game is there. So Marcel Reed calls out the University
- 36:03Speaker 2: of Texas. Also, we told you Auburn is a big
- 36:06Speaker 2: favorite over.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Baylor.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Courtesy of Polymarket. 73% of the money is coming in
- 36:13Speaker 2: on Auburn for the weekend.
- 36:15Speaker 5: D.J.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Lagoway returns to the SEC footprint as a Baylor Bear.
- 36:20Speaker 2: So it'll be Baylor versus Auburn coming up this weekend. Again,
- 36:23Speaker 2: another pretty intriguing matchup that is out there. Also, yesterday
- 36:28Speaker 2: or a few days ago, Texas Tech head coach Joey
- 36:31Speaker 2: McGuire called out USC in their home opener because I
- 36:33Speaker 2: remember last week in week zero there was a couple
- 36:37Speaker 2: thousand people 5,000 people, whatever it was in the stands.
- 36:40Speaker 2: He says not to take any shots. And, you know,
- 36:43Speaker 2: you can throw that in the wording. You know, when
- 36:45Speaker 2: somebody says, hey, with all due respect, you know what's
- 36:48Speaker 2: coming next. Or, hey, I don't mean to be rude. Well,
- 36:50Speaker 2: they're fixing to be rude. Well, if he's saying not
- 36:53Speaker 2: to take any shots, he's about to take a shot.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Because I have a lot of respect for USC and
- 36:58Speaker 2: Lincoln Riley, but it's really awesome to be playing in Lubbock, Texas,
- 37:00Speaker 2: knowing we're going to be playing in front of 60,000.
- 37:02Speaker 2: It's going to be warm. It's going to be every
- 37:06Speaker 2: bit as warm as it was on Saturday. There's not
- 37:10Speaker 2: going to be any excuse of why the fans are
- 37:13Speaker 2: not going to be here for us. Well, Lincoln Riley
- 37:16Speaker 2: has responded to that, and Lincoln Riley pushes back on the, quote,
- 37:20Speaker 2: false narrative surrounding USC's crowd size versus San Jose State.
- 37:24Speaker 2: He says, this is USC, right? People are going to
- 37:26Speaker 2: pay attention. People are going to have an opinion. It's
- 37:29Speaker 2: part of being a blue blood school. I don't buy
- 37:32Speaker 2: into the false narratives. I think that comes from a
- 37:35Speaker 2: lot of people who don't follow our program. Most of
- 37:37Speaker 2: them have never stepped foot into the Coliseum, reality is
- 37:41Speaker 2: during my years here, attendance has gone up every year. Now,
- 37:46Speaker 2: all that sounds really good from Lincoln Riley, but Lincoln,
- 37:49Speaker 2: there's pictures of your game on Saturday. There was nobody
- 37:53Speaker 2: at your game. Nobody. But we know this because of
- 37:57Speaker 2: history and, you know, everything with USC. It's a very
- 38:00Speaker 2: weird place because it sits right in the middle of
- 38:04Speaker 2: Los Angeles, and there's so much other, you know, so
- 38:07Speaker 2: many other, I mean, there's, The Lakers, the Dodgers, the
- 38:11Speaker 2: Giants aren't far from there. I mean, there's, you know,
- 38:13Speaker 2: the 49ers, you know, the Rams. I mean, all these teams,
- 38:18Speaker 2: USC has to be really, really, really good for people
- 38:22Speaker 2: to really just buy in and want to go there,
- 38:24Speaker 2: like for ballgames. And, you know, if they play a
- 38:26Speaker 2: big matchup, obviously, if they win, there'll be more people there.
- 38:28Speaker 2: But long gone are the days of the Pete Carrolls
- 38:31Speaker 2: of the world. Pete Carroll, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart went
- 38:34Speaker 2: every weekend. That place was full. but it was more
- 38:37Speaker 2: like a pro environment than a college environment. So you've
- 38:41Speaker 2: got a little war of words there on stadiums. Also,
- 38:44Speaker 2: we told you Georgia Tech is a big favorite, 68%
- 38:47Speaker 2: of the money coming in versus Colorado. And Archie Manning
- 38:51Speaker 2: raving about Mississippi State's Camario Taylor. It says, quote, he
- 38:55Speaker 2: was as impressive as anybody at the Manning Passing Academy,
- 38:58Speaker 2: talking about his size, his arm, and the athleticism that
- 39:03Speaker 2: he has. 601-885-3776 if you want to give us a call.
- 39:07Speaker 2: 601-897-1059 if you want to give us a call. John Talti, quote, with, again,
- 39:15Speaker 2: a piece out here on this weekend and everything going on, quote,
- 39:20Speaker 2: he can't handle Ole Miss being successful. And latest Lane
- 39:23Speaker 2: Kiffin excerpt, CBS Sports, multiple sources accuse Kiffin of feeding
- 39:28Speaker 2: Dabo Sweeney information for tampering, the tampering case against Ole Miss.
- 39:33Speaker 2: So that would be a twist of fate, wouldn't it?
- 39:36Speaker 2: That Dabo Sweeney, who has gone after Ole Miss for tampering,
- 39:44Speaker 2: and Pete Golding has responded that Lane Kiffin, when he left,
- 39:49Speaker 2: fed Dabo Sweeney information about the school that he was
- 39:52Speaker 2: at that was tampering about tampering. But that's kind of
- 39:56Speaker 2: right in Lane Kiffin's wheelhouse, right? I mean, anything you
- 39:59Speaker 2: tell me about Lane Kiffin, I'm going to almost believe it.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Penn State has announced it is opening the Paterno Family
- 40:07Speaker 2: Football Experience Room. That sounds very weird. A, quote, permanent
- 40:12Speaker 2: museum experience to celebrate Penn State football history The exhibit
- 40:15Speaker 2: will open over 14 years after the school removed Joe
- 40:20Speaker 2: Paterno's statue following the Jerry Sandusky crimes on the campus
- 40:25Speaker 2: of Penn State. Also, if you haven't seen him, I'm
- 40:31Speaker 2: going to share this on X, at Jake Wim, courtesy
- 40:33Speaker 2: of Clinton Body Shop, Polly Market Football. Meet Ball State's
- 40:37Speaker 2: quarterback this year, Keldrick Luster. Keldrick Luster is a 5'10,
- 40:41Speaker 2: 250-pound quarterback, year four, and he is almost like a
- 40:52Speaker 2: miniature version of Jared Lorenzen. I think we can go there.
- 40:58Speaker 2: I mean, he's not quite Jared Lorenzen size, but he's
- 41:01Speaker 2: dadgum close. He's dadgum close. So let's pay attention to
- 41:06Speaker 2: big Keldrick Luster, 5'10, 250-pound quarterback at Ball State. And honestly...
- 41:14Speaker 2: If you look at this guy in this picture, he's
- 41:16Speaker 2: in a football uniform. He looks like some average dude,
- 41:19Speaker 2: big guy, comes off the street. They're going to put
- 41:22Speaker 2: him in a uniform and put him out there to
- 41:23Speaker 2: play quarterback. Obviously, this guy likely can flat get after
- 41:27Speaker 2: it as far as football is concerned. He's another one
- 41:32Speaker 2: that we'll watch. Also, former Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers
- 41:36Speaker 2: is now officially on the Oklahoma State coaching staff. He's
- 41:40Speaker 2: working with quarterbacks and a part of that offensive staff.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Will Rogers is at Oklahoma State now as a football coach.
- 41:47Speaker 2: We're brought to you by A1 Guarantado, your hometown vehicle specialist.
