Latest / Unlocking The Paradigm Portal / Light In The Dark: When You're Too Tired To Feel
Transcript
- 0:00Hi, it's Sarah. So if tonight feels heavy in a
- 0:05different way, maybe not sharp or frantic, but just deeply
- 0:09tired, I'm here with you. And I'll sit here in the dark
- 0:13and hold up a Lantern. Just enough light to help you
- 0:16see the next few steps. This is light in the dark, a few
- 0:20quiet minutes for when the world goes still but the inside
- 0:23doesn't. So emotional exhaustion.
- 0:27It doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like staring
- 0:32at the ceiling because even scrolling feels like too much.
- 0:36And sometimes it can be that answering messages with one word
- 0:40replies because you just don't have the energy to explain
- 0:45anything deeper. And sometimes it's feeling
- 0:48nothing at all and wondering if something inside you is broken.
- 0:54But I'm here to remind you nothing is broken.
- 0:57This is just what happens when a heart and a nervous system have
- 1:01been carrying too much for too long and it feels heavy.
- 1:07Imagine you have a battery that's been running on low power
- 1:11for days. It's not dead, it's just dim,
- 1:15and you keep watching the numbers drop down and down as
- 1:19the battery runs lower and lower.
- 1:22The light's still on, but it's softer.
- 1:26There's less power to it. Everything is functioning, but
- 1:30it's functioning slower. You don't recharge a battery by
- 1:35demanding that it works harder. You recharge it by letting it
- 1:39rest. And tonight doesn't need to be
- 1:44about productivity. It doesn't need perspective.
- 1:48It doesn't need you to turn this into a lesson.
- 1:51If all you did today was survive something invisible, that
- 1:56counts, because emotional exhaustion comes after caring
- 2:02deeply for a long time without enough space to refill.
- 2:07It comes from holding things together and being strong when
- 2:10you didn't want to and staying steady for other people while
- 2:16you're probably quietly unraveling inside.
- 2:20And no one sees the weight of that while it's happening but
- 2:23you. You feel it, but your body keeps
- 2:27the score of every ounce of energy that you expended.
- 2:34And if you feel numb tonight, that's not a failure.
- 2:38It's like a protective dimmer switch trying to remind you that
- 2:42your battery needs to be recharged and your system keeps
- 2:47lowering the volume so that you don't burn out completely.
- 2:52And there's nothing you need to process right now.
- 2:55There's nothing you need to push through.
- 2:58There's nothing you need to understand before you're allowed
- 3:01to rest. So now imagine just setting that
- 3:06weight down beside you for a moment, not solving it, not
- 3:10organizing it, not making sense of anything, just placing it on
- 3:15the ground and letting your arms hang loose at your sides.
- 3:20And notice how that quiet feels. You don't have to pick it back
- 3:25up until you choose to. And tonight you don't have to
- 3:30choose anything. So if tears come, let them.
- 3:36And if they don't, that's OK too.
- 3:39Crying isn't the only way exhaustion releases.
- 3:42And sometimes the most honest thing that you can feel is
- 3:46emptiness. And emptiness isn't avoid its
- 3:50space. And it might feel scary.
- 3:54It might feel like you need to grip on to something.
- 3:58And that's why I'm sitting here with you to say you're safe and
- 4:01it's OK. Because space.
- 4:03Space is where something new can eventually return, and space is
- 4:09where new things can grow. And right now, nothing needs to
- 4:15fill it. So if sleep comes, let it come
- 4:19gently. And if it doesn't, let your body
- 4:21rest anyways. So close your eyes, unclench
- 4:26your jaw, maybe let your shoulders drop a little bit.
- 4:32Because even this just lying here breathing is repair
- 4:36happening in real time. It's choosing you over the
- 4:41weight, and that is the most important thing that you can do.
- 4:46So we're going to pause here for tonight.
- 4:49And now I'll leave the Lantern beside you, as I do every time,
- 4:53not to light the whole path, but just to remind you you're not
- 4:56walking it alone. And you don't have to be strong
- 4:59right now, and you don't have to be OK right now.
- 5:03You just have to exist until the energy slowly returns.
- 5:09So rest if you can, and if not, just stay here in the quiet and
- 5:14I'll be here when you come back.
