- 0:00I know everybody. I'm an absolute fucking menation of society and it's very hasty
- 0:05back in your country again. Thank you, beautiful Paul. Thanks for joining
- 0:09us so saty today. Brothers A right, So we just caught in two
- 0:18days ago. I'm absolutely fucked. I forgot how long it takes to get
- 0:22back over here. I'm absolutely dying. So yeah, we get it again
- 0:28a little bit. But this is the question, when I long to go
- 0:31back to Sydney. You still be family. Twenty six hour flying and I
- 0:35feel like a piece of dogs anyway, all right, so far mate.
- 0:41Now you're here touring Austray for a rundom shows starting January the sixteenth in Perth.
- 0:46Then you had to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, finishing Sydney on January
- 0:49the twentieth. Mate, So are there's going to be your first shows for
- 0:51the year. Not no mindy oh, can't keep up. We just done
- 0:58a British tour, done a few European festivals. It's sucking in this wheelchair
- 1:03because I'm I'm just got to get the video done. I'm start walking again.
- 1:07But that's non existent. Why on the roads? You know, it's
- 1:11just so hard to do but now after this we've got to go soon.
- 1:15It's done here in Australia and going Astralia and South America and Chile, uh
- 1:21by the way, Tina, and then I go back and then I'm taking
- 1:25a couple of months off getting this together. Then I'm straight back. I'll
- 1:27bucking still on birthday. Well, well I live most of the time and
- 1:37I'm based in Brazil anyways, or back in England, so we're backing of
- 1:42my birthdays. It's going to be a part give me the day I booking
- 1:47in Now the shows you do an inarmaate like it's a straight run of five
- 1:56shows in five days, Like how do you prepare yourself mental in did you
- 2:00p for something like that so far from home, especially at the moment now
- 2:02you're in a wheelchair. Enough matter. But now I just got used to
- 2:08it. Really, I'm probably five days straight off to but maybe three and
- 2:15then stop day off and that whatever. But it is what it is.
- 2:19You just got to get on with it, you know. The only problem
- 2:22I'm having is since I've come over here and I'll get this back in England
- 2:24in the Europe and all that stuff with the with the allergies of the warm
- 2:29weather. I've got it now I'm not got you know, hopefully we're geet
- 2:34cleared up the next couple of days. But apart from that, it's just,
- 2:38you know, it's the toughest part is not being on stage. It's
- 2:42the toughest part. He's getting on airplanes and about and all that stuff.
- 2:46And I said, I should be fucking walking over a year ago now,
- 2:49but I'm doing myself in by kick going on to it because I can't elm
- 2:53sitting un scratching me. It's better while since I'm sorry, man, what
- 3:00work didn't Australian fans expect from your shows? We've finished it up. As
- 3:06I said, it's a I've not been able to play love. This is
- 3:09my first time back in say eight years, nine years now, because basically
- 3:13can with this, but they want let me flying and some of the sexist
- 3:15and all that ship. Uh So, basically what we're doing is saying a
- 3:20big thank you and a fair well not from touring but doing nine Maiden stuff.
- 3:24So this is the whole Maiden heavy shows. It's the songs for the
- 3:29first two albums. We've been rather good, quite successful and quite surprised actually,
- 3:34So we're doing that because I'm amazing. I've got to play the fucking
- 3:37songs. You know, well Bruce song, I am mm hmmm quite right,
- 3:59a fro you know. So that is doing stuff. So it was
- 4:01just getting over there. I've lost ye can you hear about? So what
- 4:09did you say? This shows you're doing. You're doing both made and my
- 4:13maiden albums and the shows. That's what it is, nothing else. And
- 4:15then next year we come out there should be coming out very soon. It's
- 4:21like a greatst hits of mine, great hits whatever that means. But it's
- 4:27like tracks from my battle Zone killers. Uh, the punk bandies like about
- 4:34we put the white breads and stuff and no man, we've got a couple
- 4:38of tracks of me. He's coming out on this album called The Book of
- 4:41the Beast. So once that's done, Uh, then we've got the movie
- 4:45coming out in a couple of months. Well, it's like a rocky momentary
- 4:48we're doing. Uh. I went from New York and that's that's all coming
- 4:55out. We've got all that stuff to do. Then I've gotta go back
- 4:58in the rehearsals to learn all the stuff of mine, which I can't remember
- 5:01any of it now. I'm not saying this to myself because we're looking at
- 5:10you. I know you're going to fucking deliver the goods. But there's going
- 5:12to be people out there that are going to say, he is in a
- 5:14wheelchair, the show is not going to be that good. But said,
- 5:17he's funds straight for us? Are you, yeah, fucking ship that you
- 5:21need to come up what? I'll surprise myself sometimes because I didn't know had
- 5:30difficulty it was going to be in a wheelchair. Everyone comes up and said
- 5:33me how to do it? And I thought, well, I don't know,
- 5:35because but I'm laughing in the hours of watching the Simps episode where Homers
- 5:42Dirt is back and he's flat on the fucking trolley and he's singing like a
- 5:46like you know, an opera singer, and IoT by me. This is
- 5:49working for me. So what happens with stand up against ship, determination to
- 5:58be pissed off with all sorts of you know, I'll work on I think
- 6:03I've bought the things that kissed me off all through the week and be out
- 6:06there and do it. You know, it's quite agressive good and if may
- 6:11life, if may life can do it, you can fucking do it.
- 6:14Yeah, he would have done right going back in to it, like you
- 6:21first started performing in nineteen seventy eight with Iron Maiden, So what do you
- 6:25remember about your early days as a vocalist all because ah, I mean I
- 6:36grew up in the punk here a year and even before that, you know,
- 6:43with the David Bowie and you know, t Recks and all that stuff.
- 6:47I was able to ship my bedroom and I couldn't sound like I'll mimic
- 6:50them pretty well, you know, really really well. And then when the
- 6:56punk thing came out, fucking maybe maybe I can sing you know what I'm
- 6:59doing it and it goes he didn't really matter who punching fuck up anyway,
- 7:02So there you go, and the boys came on from there, and this
- 7:06is getting better, getting older, you know, it's still you know,
- 7:11I said that I bothered myself now and I'm saying that that was probably saying
- 7:15like, fucking what far when we go out of stage, like I forgot.
- 7:23Of course I've recording. The two albums been made and you left in
- 7:25nineteen eighty one, mate, So well, you would have been young and
- 7:28impressional back then. Made like we're a bit disillusioned with the music industry.
- 7:30After En and his army maiden. No, No, I've always be I've
- 7:36got that trusting these fucking people that you know, like, I know I
- 7:40shouldn't say that, but yeah, you've got to look at it and us
- 7:43and them. Yeah, I've never been too, you know, even the
- 7:48second management and stuff like that. You should keep a separation there, you
- 7:51know what I mean. Uh, well, I'll see what's going on and
- 7:55there I'm under no illusions and stuff like that. As I said, I've
- 8:00got no regretsing you know, me and maidens will fit part in ways because
- 8:05that's what that's one. You know, you move on lessons learned. Even
- 8:09though it's sounds like a lot of booms about back and doing this again.
- 8:15But I'm disillusioned with the way things aren't musically now because kids are sitting in
- 8:22their own with a computer and they're not getting the experience. The really experience
- 8:28is getting out of fucking road playing every ship in the world, and that's
- 8:31what we call can you do? You know, And that's how you get
- 8:35it up, you know, and get on with this. So yeah,
- 8:37that's it, but that's that's that makes it a bit pissed off, and
- 8:41our kids all nowadays all believes that they're entitled to be fucking rock stars.
- 8:46You ain't decided to fuck all making out does and work, you know damn
- 8:50straight. Since then, you've front of many bands including I can't even say
- 8:58God Magarget you're praying and says killers, Who how have you grown musically over
- 9:03that journey with all those bands? What how did you grow growing musically over
- 9:09that journey better? That's sure, but that listen, some of these things,
- 9:15I just did it just to fucking get a bit of money in here.
- 9:18And then like the God God thing to get the supergroup yeah, which
- 9:22we found later on put together by something radio personally called Jonathan King back in
- 9:30and in the sixties he had to hit the one Gone to the Moon,
- 9:33Uh, and you know po he went to Perrison and everything, you know,
- 9:37the things you want him and Rod Argent, who've got this thing together
- 9:43when and I replaced they covered that singer. Yeah, And the original band
- 9:50was John and twistl on bas Cozy Powell on drums, uh and a cup
- 9:58of under like sort of well known fucking you know, big musicians. And
- 10:01he's asked something like about eighty million fucking pounds to sign this supergrouth and all
- 10:05got dwindled down. So I haven't placed covered our U. We've got Neil
- 10:09Murray and from White Snake came into play place, Clay Burr on drums,
- 10:15Yanny Girls on guitar, and uh from that Paper on guitar as well,
- 10:20which is pretty awesome. But they were said there was writing his sons,
- 10:24we bought their sons crap. So you know, that was just the project.
- 10:30Someone wasn't that bobbed about, you know either way. All the other
- 10:33stuff, you know, like the stuff they doubled Dennis and all that.
- 10:35That is my old managing trying to be as clever come putting everything together.
- 10:39And it's not me but the only stuff I'll take it right. With battle
- 10:45Zone and with Killers, the same sort of band, you know, we
- 10:48just sort of changed the name a little bit of contractful reasons and that.
- 10:50Yeah, quite good. Sure, And you've been referred to as a heavy
- 10:56metal icon with the heart of a punk rock rebel, like was you agree
- 11:00over that? Yeah? Pretty much basically just like crashing with heavy metal head.
- 11:05Yeah. I don't ask this question of many people, mate, but
- 11:16you're probably one of the few people in the world qualified to answer it.
- 11:18So what would you put as your top three commandments of heavy metal? It's
- 11:26not three commandments of heavy metal. Ah, don't suck up, keep the
- 11:35trying for the people who playing money for the tickets to come and see you.
- 11:39H That that's one of one. That's that's the one number one for
- 11:43me. I can't stand that. You know, like, you come into
- 11:46a show and now can I have an all? You know, I can't
- 11:50do that. You know. I respect people who you know you can come
- 11:56and seeing it's amazing. Uh, treat them all with respect that It's all
- 12:01about respecting that, you know what I mean. I know some people do
- 12:07it and be ip ship and all that. I think, shut up because
- 12:11I'm not involved in that. You know, I signed are anyway. You
- 12:16know. That's another thing I really don't like. But my commandments are pretty
- 12:20much, try and do the best you can every night. Uh. Be
- 12:24respectful to the audience as well. Don't go to slave in the world.
- 12:28Uh, and just do the best you can. Yeah, alright's all drugs,
- 12:37but you can you can. I will thank your time, mate.
- 12:46I know you hungover from last night, so I appreciate it. This course
- 12:48kicks off on January sixteenth in Perth. I'm gonna come along in the prison,
- 12:52show mate, so it'll be good to catch up. Revere. Good
- 12:56oh good, excellent time.
