- Lucas: Ciao Luna, bentornata! Ready for another episode of Learn Italian with Fexingo? Luna: Ciao Lucas! Yes, I'm so excited. What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to the football stadium. Italians love calcio, so these phrases will come in handy. Luna: Oh, perfetto! I've always wanted to cheer at an Italian match. Let's start. Lucas: First phrase: 'Chi gioca?' It means 'Who's playing?' Repeat after me: Chi gioca? Luna: Chi gioca? That's easy. Chi gioca. Lucas: Exactly. Now, you're at the stadium and you want to know the score. You ask: 'Quanto è il risultato?' — 'What's the score?' Try it. Luna: Quanto è il risultato? That's a bit of a mouthful. Quanto è il risultato. Lucas: Great! And when your team scores, you shout: 'Gol!' Just like in English, but with an Italian accent. Gol! Luna: Gol! That's fun. I can imagine yelling that with the crowd. Lucas: Then you can cheer: 'Forza Italia!' — 'Go Italy!' Or for your favorite team, say 'Forza Juventus!' or 'Forza Milan!'. Luna: Forza Italia! I love that. And after the match, you might say 'Che partita emozionante!' — 'What an exciting game!'. Lucas: Perfect! Let's practice all five. Repeat after me: Chi gioca? Luna: Chi gioca? Lucas: Quanto è il risultato? Luna: Quanto è il risultato? Lucas: Gol! Luna: Gol! Lucas: Forza Italia! Luna: Forza Italia! Lucas: Che partita emozionante! Luna: Che partita emozionante! Lucas: You're doing great! Now imagine we're at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The teams are coming out. You ask me: 'Chi gioca?' Luna: Chi gioca? Lucas, who's playing? Lucas: Roma contro Lazio. It's a big derby! Now the match starts. After a few minutes, you ask: 'Quanto è il risultato?' Luna: Quanto è il risultato? What's the score? Lucas: One to zero for Roma. Then suddenly, a goal! You shout: 'Gol!' Luna: Gol! Yes! And then 'Forza Roma!'. Lucas: Exactly. And at the end, you say: 'Che partita emozionante!' Luna: Che partita emozionante! I can't wait to use these. Lucas: You know, Luna, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Italian, a small gesture from listeners is what keeps these episodes ad-free and coming. Luna: Yeah, totally. Even a couple of dollars a month genuinely makes a difference. Lucas: If you've gotten something out of these lessons, consider heading to buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It really helps. Luna: Absolutely. And now back to the stadium! Let's do a quick role-play. I'll be the tifosa, you be me. Lucas: Okay. I'll ask: 'Chi gioca oggi?' Luna: Gioca la Juventus contro il Milan. E il risultato? Quanto è il risultato? Lucas: Due a zero per la Juventus. And then, gol! Forza Juve! Luna: Gol! Che partita emozionante! Forza Juve! Lucas: Perfetto! You're ready for the stadium. Practice these phrases and you'll sound like a local. Luna: Grazie, Lucas! I'll practice shouting 'Gol!' in my living room. My neighbors might think I'm crazy. Lucas: That's the spirit! Until next time, arrivederci e forza Italia! Luna: Arrivederci! Forza Italia!
