- 0:08Speaker 1: But I invited you here, thought I made myself perfectly clear.
- 0:17Speaker 2: But you're a guess to my home.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You gotta come to me empty. And I said, no,
- 0:26Speaker 1: guess your own presences, presence enough that I already had
- 0:33Speaker 1: too much stuff.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So how do you dare to surbey mean, welcome to?
- 0:50Speaker 3: I said, no gifts. Temperature wineger, We're in the backyard.
- 0:56Speaker 3: The temperature is tolerable.
- 0:58Speaker 4: For now.
- 1:00Speaker 3: What's happening. I went to Costco yesterday and used my
- 1:04Speaker 3: Costco card for the first time, bought a chicken, bought
- 1:09Speaker 3: some waterloo, bought you know, a few items, and I'm
- 1:13Speaker 3: feeling I'm riding that high. And uh, that's about as
- 1:18Speaker 3: high as I'm going to get, you know. And so
- 1:20Speaker 3: let's get into the podcast. I adore today's guest. It's
- 1:23Speaker 3: Mono Agapion Mono. Oh, welcome to, I said, nod.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Oh my god, thank you for pivoting. You just did
- 1:30Speaker 4: this lovely, as if I wasn't in this.
- 1:34Speaker 3: It's kind of a news anchor urn. It's time to
- 1:37Speaker 3: get serious.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 4: You delivered the beginning to almost to the wall and
- 1:42Speaker 4: then turned. It was really dramatic.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I'm imagining an entire arena of people in front of
- 1:48Speaker 3: me just screaming and chanting and on where you're That's
- 1:52Speaker 3: why I'm a pro. That's why people say Bridger is
- 1:55Speaker 3: a pro. If he's nothing else, he's a professional pro.
- 1:58Speaker 4: You're talking about Waterloo and I had something to say
- 2:01Speaker 4: about Waterloo Waterloo, and everyone said, shut up, we have
- 2:04Speaker 4: to record this.
- 2:05Speaker 3: On only's got very mad.
- 2:08Speaker 4: I've never seen so much anger in a person.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Rage. Yeah, but yeah, we were saying.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I was saying, flavor forward.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Flavor forward probably the most of any sparkling beverage, I
- 2:20Speaker 3: think so. I don't and I don't understand how they're
- 2:23Speaker 3: able to maximize flavor in that way. Without it, it's still,
- 2:27Speaker 3: you know, like a sugar free drink. Why are the
- 2:29Speaker 3: rest of these companies following suit? They're cowards, They're cowards. Ultimately,
- 2:34Speaker 3: people have no backbone.
- 2:35Speaker 4: They've been given a choice and they took the road
- 2:39Speaker 4: most travel.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Lacroix is cowering. Yes, absolutely, what other brands are there?
- 2:45Speaker 3: There's what's your favorite Waterloo flavor?
- 2:46Speaker 4: Though?
- 2:46Speaker 3: I gotta know that. Oh that's a great question. Now
- 2:49Speaker 3: see now I'm so on the spot that I'm going
- 2:51Speaker 3: to panic. I have mine, Okay, but I don't want
- 2:54Speaker 3: you to say it because I'll just copy it. I
- 2:57Speaker 3: feel like I've had a peach that I really enjoyed.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I have three in my fridge right now. There's lemon lime,
- 3:04Speaker 3: there's one that I'm suspicious of, orange vanilla, I'm not tried.
- 3:08Speaker 3: And then maybe ay, yeah, it seems like a creamsickle,
- 3:12Speaker 3: which we'll see how that goes. Yours could go well,
- 3:15Speaker 3: black cherry. Oh see, that's a great flavor. It's just wow,
- 3:20Speaker 3: wall and you're not seeing that in other sparkling waters,
- 3:27Speaker 3: crying cowards, spineless, bobbly, bubbly. There's the Target brand.
- 3:35Speaker 4: There's the Target brand. Aha.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Aha, I recently learned has gone out of where they've
- 3:40Speaker 3: shut it down. And the only reason I know that
- 3:42Speaker 3: they shuttered the business. The only reason I know this
- 3:45Speaker 3: is because they had it on some airline and anytime
- 3:48Speaker 3: I would order it. It's like such a hard thing
- 3:50Speaker 3: to say loudly, like the flight attendant would never hear
- 3:54Speaker 3: what you're saying. But then you say sparkling water and
- 3:56Speaker 3: they're not quite sure. But aha, like the roar of
- 3:59Speaker 3: a plane, it's a very hard work. Like coke, though
- 4:02Speaker 3: they were coke, so I think they're probably gonna turn it.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Hopefully will be something with a harder consonant.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Maybe a Maha pep pep that's too close to pepsi.
- 4:14Speaker 3: But an interesting move on cokespart. You know, they could
- 4:16Speaker 3: really take over the.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Searchers cock situation. Yeah, and Coke is a cock. Coke
- 4:23Speaker 4: is the cock brand like Pepsi probably. What do you
- 4:26Speaker 4: think about a spin drift? Because I enjoy spending, but
- 4:29Speaker 4: it's a different category for me.
- 4:31Speaker 3: It is it's a juice.
- 4:32Speaker 4: It's well, it's a bubbly juice.
- 4:36Speaker 3: It definitely has a real thing in it. Yeah, they've
- 4:39Speaker 3: got some sort of pulp, They've got flavor, and that's
- 4:43Speaker 3: why it's always going to win out.
- 4:45Speaker 4: It's going it's it's really lovely. Do you have a
- 4:47Speaker 4: favorite flavor there? Yeah? I think so.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember. The lemonades are not my favorite.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Oh the like iced tea lemonade. That one's okay.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Actually they did like a strawberry and a cherry lemonade
- 4:59Speaker 4: that didn't white work for some reason.
- 5:03Speaker 3: I think my favorite is pineapple pineapple. Oh, I see,
- 5:05Speaker 3: I haven't tried that, but I've had the grapefruit. I'll
- 5:08Speaker 3: go crazy for that.
- 5:09Speaker 4: You crazy.
- 5:10Speaker 3: I go crazy for a grapefruit up Teryl mad cherryl screaming, crying,
- 5:19Speaker 3: tears running down my face. No. The spin Drift, I
- 5:23Speaker 3: do believe is a different but you run into people
- 5:25Speaker 3: who don't like it. Yes, and that's baffling to me.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, I agree. I think it's pretty delicious
- 5:33Speaker 4: and yummy.
- 5:34Speaker 3: And there are so many flavors. How can you write
- 5:36Speaker 3: off the whole brand and such a specific amount of calories?
- 5:40Speaker 4: Yes, really tickles me when they're like, this kid has
- 5:42Speaker 4: eleven cal Yeah, they really want.
- 5:47Speaker 3: You to know they thought about it. They thought about
- 5:48Speaker 3: because they're obviously competing with the zero col sparkling.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Yes, sector you're right, and envy those people who taste
- 5:56Speaker 4: test them to go, this is enough juice, or the
- 5:59Speaker 4: people who go, this is not enough cu.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I would love to be in the Spin Drift kitchens. Yeah,
- 6:05Speaker 3: what is that like?
- 6:07Speaker 4: I don't know. I bet it's great.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I bet it's extremely clean. It's probably so futuristic juicers galore. Yeah,
- 6:15Speaker 3: but it's gotta be more of a chemistry situation, right, Yes.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Let's let's let's not fool ourselves. There's it's not some
- 6:22Speaker 4: sort of orange grope situation.
- 6:25Speaker 3: They've got beakers, they have the eye droppers.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Now, when are they going to start like some sort
- 6:31Speaker 4: of like drink delivery service, such as you like a
- 6:36Speaker 4: bubbler like a water fountain of spin drifts?
- 6:39Speaker 3: Okay, do you enjoy to have a tea?
- 6:42Speaker 4: Oh?
- 6:42Speaker 3: Yes, of course the strange tall bottle. Love to have
- 6:46Speaker 3: a tea.
- 6:46Speaker 4: But that, to me is also a beverage that's so addictive.
- 6:48Speaker 4: They need to start putting it in.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Like a high up space behind glass.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I want, I want some sort of delivery like vehicle
- 6:57Speaker 4: that's going to replenish reply my tajava's or my spin drift.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Are you ordering the tehava in or buying it in
- 7:04Speaker 3: the like single serving thing or you're getting it in jugs?
- 7:08Speaker 3: Ooh ooh oh, I don't even know if they offer
- 7:10Speaker 3: a jug. It seems like you're drinking so much that
- 7:12Speaker 3: I'm just assuming your home is flooding.
- 7:14Speaker 4: I love it so much, but that's kind of the
- 7:16Speaker 4: to me, the cachet is that they're always in the
- 7:18Speaker 4: glass bottle. They have the small plastic ones.
- 7:20Speaker 3: No, gross, I'm not drinking icedy out of a plastic
- 7:22Speaker 3: bottle in any situation. But the big glass bottle.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Ta Haava to me is like, uh, especially after a hangover,
- 7:29Speaker 4: it's like, oh, you're gonna be okay.
- 7:30Speaker 3: It's I love an ice green tea. But my problem
- 7:35Speaker 3: with ice green tea is if you go to like
- 7:37Speaker 3: your typical convenience store, they have all the sweet ones.
- 7:40Speaker 3: I want it to taste purely like grass. Yeah, I agree.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I don't want it to be sweet in any way.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I agree, just crisp grass.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Have you been to Japan by any chance?
- 7:49Speaker 3: This is what I was just thinking about. You walk
- 7:51Speaker 3: into a seven to eleven there, Yeah, and it is
- 7:53Speaker 3: a it's like a Library of Congress level of green tea. Oh,
- 7:58Speaker 3: they have every green tea you could possibly.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Grass plus grass minus all grassmax. No, but I love
- 8:04Speaker 4: I also love that. I find it really gratifying to
- 8:07Speaker 4: drink and non sweetened.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Oh, it's so nice. It feels like you're doing something
- 8:10Speaker 3: even if you're not. It tastes like you're warding off cancer.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Yes, it does. It feels like you're like truly like
- 8:16Speaker 4: filtering something out, like you're liquid plumbering your body.
- 8:21Speaker 3: And in Japan Florida ceiling options, Oh my gosh, the option.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I don't know how people that even keep track of
- 8:27Speaker 3: the different ones. But I guess when you live there,
- 8:30Speaker 3: you have time to sort through. I also like that.
- 8:32Speaker 4: I find that. Okay, let's talk about it. Wait, when
- 8:35Speaker 4: you went to Japan, were you able to avoid the
- 8:39Speaker 4: jet lag or did you live the jet lag life?
- 8:41Speaker 4: I was able to avoid it completely.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Me too, because it's so it's so extreme, you kind
- 8:47Speaker 3: of you. I feel like your body has no choice
- 8:49Speaker 3: but to be like this is my new reality. Yeah,
- 8:51Speaker 3: Whereas like I think, if you like go to two
- 8:55Speaker 3: to six hours difference, that's.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Where you really have a hard time. I agree.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I agree.
- 9:00Speaker 4: And what I was gonna say about the Green Tea
- 9:01Speaker 4: is I love Green Tea because it's like it's such
- 9:04Speaker 4: a steady caffeine delivery device that you're never crashing or.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Right, kind of just pushing along. I mean, I'm currently
- 9:12Speaker 3: drinking my second cold brew. I've been awake for probably
- 9:14Speaker 3: two and a half hours. Gray, I will probably have
- 9:17Speaker 3: six hundred milligrams of caffeine in my body before the
- 9:20Speaker 3: end of this podcast. You don't have a caffeine limit,
- 9:23Speaker 3: it sounds like I do. Okay, my body, It's interesting,
- 9:26Speaker 3: my body really tells me where like, yeah, coffee starts
- 9:28Speaker 3: to taste like poison, where it's like, oh, you can't,
- 9:31Speaker 3: you can't keep doing this, You're going to die.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Yeah, my threshold's pretty low on a I love cold brew,
- 9:36Speaker 4: but it is low, like you're like eighty No, you're
- 9:40Speaker 4: like eighty three percent done with that coffee. I think
- 9:42Speaker 4: I would be like, oh that's enough for me.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Wow, that's just a tablespoon. I can have so little.
- 9:49Speaker 3: So how after are you drinking coffee?
- 9:51Speaker 4: I literally is I pretty often, but it's it is
- 9:56Speaker 4: like a little drug for me where I'm like, okay,
- 9:57Speaker 4: I'm doing tea. Tea is good for me. Tea is
- 9:59Speaker 4: good for me, but then like coffee is so sexy.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Oh, and it tastes so good. When it's good, it's
- 10:05Speaker 3: as good as it can.
- 10:06Speaker 4: And the high is oh, euphoria, absolute euphoria. So like
- 10:13Speaker 4: it's like a dark maiden that keeps calling my name.
- 10:16Speaker 3: But then it'll it'll get me good. Yeah, it's I
- 10:20Speaker 3: should say I got this. I'd like to just always
- 10:22Speaker 3: advertise found coffee on this podcast. It's a place an
- 10:25Speaker 3: eagle Rock. Have you ever been to found coffee? Oh,
- 10:27Speaker 3: I'm probably gonna go after this. Now they're not a sponsor,
- 10:29Speaker 3: but I love the place so much. I just like
- 10:31Speaker 3: to say their name on the.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Coffee, good pastries or something.
- 10:34Speaker 3: They have a small pastry case that's almost always empty
- 10:36Speaker 3: because I think people must love them.
- 10:38Speaker 4: And by the time I get there, it's always gone
- 10:42Speaker 4: online video that's like, go to Found coff Oh interesting
- 10:45Speaker 4: for some sort of pastry.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Oh well, they might. Today they had some sort of
- 10:48Speaker 3: breakfast sandwich being made in the parking lot, some sort
- 10:51Speaker 3: of group of men meeting.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Wow, what what are you saying?
- 10:56Speaker 3: I don't know. It was very busy there today.
- 10:58Speaker 4: There's a group of men meeting.
- 11:00Speaker 3: And I thought my initial thought, whenever you see a
- 11:02Speaker 3: group of men meeting, alarm bells are going off.
- 11:04Speaker 4: I was gonna say one of two ways.
- 11:07Speaker 3: But I know Found so well. I'm sure that they
- 11:11Speaker 3: were probably planning to, I don't know, do some community
- 11:13Speaker 3: service or do something nice for the world. They're probably
- 11:16Speaker 3: going out to rescue dogs.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Maybe maybe that was it. Maybe, but maybe they were
- 11:20Speaker 4: huddling up though for nefarious reasons. Not it found, not
- 11:25Speaker 4: not at Found Maybe at Panera.
- 11:27Speaker 3: At Panera. If you see a group of men meeting
- 11:30Speaker 3: at a Panera exit turn around, exit call nine one.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Once you're in the car and the car is locked.
- 11:37Speaker 4: What do you do when you're in a group of
- 11:38Speaker 4: like a bunch of straight men. Do you panic?
- 11:40Speaker 3: Do you play a part? Do you lean into yourself?
- 11:43Speaker 3: I think I that's a great question. I think I
- 11:45Speaker 3: kind of just meld in. I mean, I was closeted
- 11:48Speaker 3: until I was thirty, so it became very easy to
- 11:50Speaker 3: just belong in a straight group of men. Sure name, sure, sure, sure.
- 11:55Speaker 3: But then there's a good chance that every straight man
- 11:57Speaker 3: I'm around is like, wow, Bridger is so gay.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Maybe, but also I feel the same way. I'm like,
- 12:04Speaker 4: I don't. It scares me how quickly I can like
- 12:07Speaker 4: code switch around straight.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Man because I did it so long, right, it's almost
- 12:10Speaker 3: like you don't have a choice, even Yeah, you're just
- 12:12Speaker 3: flipping into Well, I guess I'm part of this conversation.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I just as a cousin at a cousin's wedding,
- 12:20Speaker 4: and I had no code switch a bit.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Oh and was it a straight wedding. It was straight wedding,
- 12:24Speaker 3: but with good people, very good kind people.
- 12:26Speaker 4: But around some of my straighter cousins, I found myself
- 12:28Speaker 4: saying things like, what's good I don't say it all.
- 12:32Speaker 3: No, I don't, so I take it back what I said.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I guess I'm just absolutely flaming around everybody. I would
- 12:39Speaker 3: never say what's good?
- 12:42Speaker 4: I said what's good? But like this, what's good? That's good?
- 12:46Speaker 4: What the hell is that?
- 12:48Speaker 3: What's good?
- 12:49Speaker 4: What's good? Nothing's good? I'm lying to you and me.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Nothing's good. Oh no, I would leave the wedding. Yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 3: did you get responses for people like, oh, this was
- 13:00Speaker 3: that of character?
- 13:01Speaker 4: Or yeah, I was talking to I have.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Some cousins who just don't talk a lot, or I
- 13:05Speaker 3: talk way too much.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Okay, sure, two things can be true, but I just
- 13:11Speaker 4: got to talk. Someone's got to talk.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Have you ever talked to someone who's Okay, I'm talking
- 13:16Speaker 3: a lot.
- 13:16Speaker 4: I know that much.
- 13:17Speaker 3: But you're on a podcast.
- 13:18Speaker 4: There you go.
- 13:19Speaker 3: If you would just quiet down and do this reaction
- 13:21Speaker 3: through the rest of the episode, No, what were you
- 13:24Speaker 3: going to say?
- 13:25Speaker 4: I was gonna say. I met a man who was
- 13:26Speaker 4: tall and handsome in LA and he was like, I'm
- 13:28Speaker 4: having a hard time making friends, And I was like, oh,
- 13:30Speaker 4: of course, being LA is actually kind of challenging in
- 13:32Speaker 4: that way, very hard to make friends. You have to
- 13:35Speaker 4: drive places and be out going, and frankly, some people
- 13:39Speaker 4: are scared when you're like hi, I'm I'm pretty sure
- 13:42Speaker 4: they're not used to it. I mean that's every response
- 13:44Speaker 4: I get, but they're like whatever. He was like, I'm
- 13:48Speaker 4: having hard having friends. So I'm asking him questions, I'm
- 13:50Speaker 4: engaging with him, and he's answering every question with a
- 13:54Speaker 4: period and and and nothing else, just like yeah mm hmm,
- 13:59Speaker 4: West Hollywood.
- 14:01Speaker 3: And I'm like, motherfucker, I know why you're not making friends.
- 14:05Speaker 4: You're bad at talking.
- 14:07Speaker 3: It's it's very surprising to me how difficult it is
- 14:10Speaker 3: for a lot of adults to hold a very basic
- 14:13Speaker 3: conversation of like, you know, it's just tennis. You're just
- 14:16Speaker 3: someone asks you a question, you answer, then you ask
- 14:18Speaker 3: it back. Yeah, it's doesn't I mean you can and
- 14:21Speaker 3: then you work from there. It's just but you run
- 14:24Speaker 3: into I mean, I think, because we're both in comedy,
- 14:27Speaker 3: I do think you run into a certain type of personality.
- 14:30Speaker 3: I don't know if this is true for you. And
- 14:31Speaker 3: you can speak to you can speak to your own experience.
- 14:33Speaker 3: But I am surrounded by people I was scared.
- 14:37Speaker 4: It's a scary.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I'm surrounded by people that I will go out to
- 14:40Speaker 3: dinner with them, and it just turns into an interview
- 14:43Speaker 3: where I'm just asking the question, do you have that
- 14:45Speaker 3: at all? Yeah, certainly, certainly that happened. Do those people
- 14:49Speaker 3: do you say, oh, I want to see them again?
- 14:51Speaker 3: Or is it like, okay, now I don't need to
- 14:52Speaker 3: see them for three years. That's a good question. It
- 14:56Speaker 3: can go a number of ways.
- 14:57Speaker 4: It can depend on if if they're just not as
- 15:02Speaker 4: good at talkie talkie as me, or or if it
- 15:05Speaker 4: was truly painful. That can run the gamut, right, But yeah,
- 15:10Speaker 4: I would say probably to be honest. More often I
- 15:13Speaker 4: feel the countier response, which is I don't I don't
- 15:16Speaker 4: need to hang out with you. I'm a blast and
- 15:19Speaker 4: if you can't keep up, I'm so sorry, Like truly, yeah, Unfortunately,
- 15:24Speaker 4: do you do the same were you're like, I'm sorry,
- 15:25Speaker 4: I can't. We can't hang out if you're not going
- 15:27Speaker 4: to talk to me.
- 15:28Speaker 3: That yes, And I feel like those people are often
- 15:30Speaker 3: people that reach out the most where it's like, yes,
- 15:33Speaker 3: you're not getting I guess they're I guess they are
- 15:35Speaker 3: getting a great deal. They're getting there.
- 15:39Speaker 4: They just bought a house at auction for five bucks
- 15:42Speaker 4: they're they're getting the best deal and we're getting a
- 15:45Speaker 4: shit deal.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Yes, I'm going out to dinner with them, bored out
- 15:48Speaker 3: of my mind. Yeah, finding out about their boring lives.
- 15:51Speaker 3: And then this tell you me, if you do this,
- 15:53Speaker 3: I do this horrible thing.
- 15:55Speaker 4: I am such a talker that then I'll say something stupid,
- 15:59Speaker 4: even stupider that I shouldn't have even said, because I'm
- 16:02Speaker 4: trying to fill this emptiness.
- 16:04Speaker 3: I mean, you have to. You will say several things
- 16:06Speaker 3: you regret. I think that's their strategy. They just leave
- 16:10Speaker 3: you to just flail and you're just saying whatever you
- 16:12Speaker 3: possibly can. Eventually you're gonna say something wrong. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:16Speaker 3: that happens to me all the time. Totally Okay, you
- 16:18Speaker 3: want to hear this awkward interactually happened. I was also
- 16:21Speaker 3: at the wedding and I was talking to a gay
- 16:23Speaker 3: gentleman and it was lovely.
- 16:24Speaker 4: And great until his partner came up. So his partner
- 16:30Speaker 4: came up and was like, you're flirting with my man.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Oh, and I'm so irritating.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Immediately it was immediately like, oh cool, I'm now in
- 16:39Speaker 4: your relationship.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I would be so mad.
- 16:41Speaker 4: I am now part of your throttle and I didn't
- 16:43Speaker 4: ask to be.
- 16:45Speaker 3: And I was like, oh ha ha ha ha ha.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Let's let's like, let's divert. Let's let's divert from this
- 16:51Speaker 4: like kind of couple tension. But he did not. He
- 16:54Speaker 4: leaned deeper into it. He's like, that's why I can't
- 16:56Speaker 4: leave him alone.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Oh okay, so maybe something has happened. Something happened, and
- 17:00Speaker 3: something's going to happen.
- 17:02Speaker 4: He's going to happen. Yeah. It felt like a mixture thing.
- 17:05Speaker 3: That's not it, because that's happening to every man that
- 17:09Speaker 3: he talks to. Yeah, that's not That's a relationship that
- 17:12Speaker 3: is absolutely crumbling in real time. It's disintegrating for everyone's
- 17:16Speaker 3: eyes fully, and I felt.
- 17:19Speaker 4: The man I was talking to. I felt his light
- 17:21Speaker 4: dim like I felt his soul leave his body. And
- 17:24Speaker 4: like when the more aggressive partner was being like, oh, yeah,
- 17:28Speaker 4: he flirts with everyone, you do you flirt with everyone?
- 17:31Speaker 4: And then I felt him go the other one go
- 17:35Speaker 4: like you know what I mean, because there's nothing he
- 17:38Speaker 4: could do in that moment.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Right, of course, there's no coming back from that. If
- 17:42Speaker 3: my boyfriend did that to me in a social situation,
- 17:44Speaker 3: I would turn to him and say we are breaking up.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yea one hundred percent, you can leave the wedding.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Here's a hot tip for anyone. Just don't don't bicker
- 17:56Speaker 4: with your partner ever in public.
- 17:58Speaker 3: I'm kind to them, Well, you're speaking to the wrong
- 18:01Speaker 3: I mean, my relationship is built on bickery.
- 18:03Speaker 4: I've absolutely bickered with my partner. But there's a fine line.
- 18:06Speaker 3: There's a line, there's a there's a difference.
- 18:09Speaker 4: There'thing like bickering and then like getting something out emotionally
- 18:13Speaker 4: in the presence of someone else. Yes, it's like and
- 18:16Speaker 4: even if you do that, because I've done that with
- 18:17Speaker 4: my partner and then afterwards I've been like, hey, I'm sorry,
- 18:19Speaker 4: that was stupid, Like that was not cool. I love you.
- 18:23Speaker 3: I'm your biggest cheerleader.
- 18:24Speaker 4: I need to be mindful about how like a joke
- 18:27Speaker 4: can be sharp and shitty, right, yeah, yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 3: It's an it's an interesting Uh, you have to be
- 18:33Speaker 3: very careful. Like in my relationship, we're very different people,
- 18:37Speaker 3: so we just always have different opinions basically, but that
- 18:40Speaker 3: there's occasionally a situation where we ended up in a
- 18:43Speaker 3: huge fight afterwards, where like it just happened to go
- 18:45Speaker 3: too far. Whatever, thinking we were working within the boundaries
- 18:50Speaker 3: of what we do totally and then it's you know,
- 18:53Speaker 3: a lot of crying and then we get through it.
- 18:56Speaker 3: But I mean the fact that you're like doing it,
- 18:58Speaker 3: You're like, okay, we need to right. Well, I won't
- 19:01Speaker 3: be the person that says that because I can't communicate.
- 19:04Speaker 3: He'll say I know something's wrong, and then we get
- 19:06Speaker 3: through good.
- 19:07Speaker 4: It sounds a very good balance.
- 19:08Speaker 3: It's yeah, I think so me and my partner are
- 19:11Speaker 3: very different people as well. Is are you the communicator
- 19:13Speaker 3: or is he?
- 19:14Speaker 4: I am the communicator?
- 19:16Speaker 3: You know what, We're both different style of communicators. He
- 19:21Speaker 3: is he?
- 19:23Speaker 4: How do I put this?
- 19:24Speaker 3: Yeah, we're different.
- 19:25Speaker 4: He's like, he's better at having tough conversations and I'm
- 19:29Speaker 4: better at emotional low stakes connection if that makes sense, right, right, So,
- 19:36Speaker 4: like I'm good at like the everyday connection and he's
- 19:40Speaker 4: good at the okay, we need to kind of have
- 19:43Speaker 4: like a talk about something of substance, right, which is
- 19:46Speaker 4: a little harder for me to do, right, but.
- 19:48Speaker 3: It's good for long term exactly relationship. Yeah, Yeah, I
- 19:51Speaker 3: guess that's probably well. I think I'm probably worse at
- 19:54Speaker 3: communicating on every category compared to my boyfriend, but he's
- 19:59Speaker 3: helping me through I like this. Were you raised in
- 20:02Speaker 3: a communicative family?
- 20:05Speaker 4: Yes? And no. It's so funny you because it's like, yes,
- 20:08Speaker 4: I grew up in a family with like a ton
- 20:10Speaker 4: of feelings okay, but also a lot of lies, do
- 20:13Speaker 4: you know what I mean? Like, so it's like, on
- 20:17Speaker 4: the one hand, people were extremely clear about their feelings,
- 20:20Speaker 4: but on the other hand, the amount of lies is staggering.
- 20:24Speaker 3: So like, were you contributing to the line? I don't.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Well maybe as a closeted little but that's a different
- 20:30Speaker 4: type of No. I think my therapist would say. No,
- 20:34Speaker 4: there's like no because my my narrative is taking more
- 20:38Speaker 4: space in my family.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Oh okay, I grew up being like the least.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Explosive personality, So my role now in life is taking
- 20:49Speaker 4: space and being like feeling my own feelings. That's opposed
- 20:53Speaker 4: to being like it's okay, I can fit in this wedge,
- 20:55Speaker 4: like you know, I can fit in my liver.
- 20:59Speaker 3: No, it's fine. I know the I'm stuck between the
- 21:01Speaker 3: couch and the wall, but it's fine. That's my thing,
- 21:05Speaker 3: right how about you? Zero, I mean, there's absolutely no communication.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I think that is clear among every member of my
- 21:14Speaker 3: family where essential silence. God bless all of us. But
- 21:19Speaker 3: you know, coming into a relationship with somebody who came
- 21:22Speaker 3: from a family that is everything they've ever felt to
- 21:24Speaker 3: each other, it's an interesting It's been a learning curve
- 21:28Speaker 3: for me. It's like, oh, you can just say what
- 21:30Speaker 3: you're feeling whenever you want. Yeah, that's not a big deal. Yeah,
- 21:35Speaker 3: it's probably the healthier way of handling things.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Are things evolving in that family front or it's kind
- 21:42Speaker 4: of like we're going to let the family do what
- 21:43Speaker 4: they do best.
- 21:45Speaker 3: When we're all together, there continues to be an almost
- 21:48Speaker 3: a near silence. But individually, I think we can communicate
- 21:53Speaker 3: with each other going on one phone calls, that kind
- 21:56Speaker 3: of thing. If somebody's cornered and we you know, something
- 21:59Speaker 3: has to be said. I get that.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Do you feel this like with my family? I feel
- 22:03Speaker 4: frustrated because like the near how do I put this?
- 22:06Speaker 4: My family is almost like an episode of a sitcom
- 22:09Speaker 4: that resets every thirty minutes. So it's like there's.
- 22:13Speaker 3: A huge fight, everything's crazy, everyone hates each other. Then
- 22:17Speaker 3: there's a resolution, but that resolution lasts not but ten
- 22:22Speaker 3: seconds until the next episode streams. Like and I actually
- 22:26Speaker 3: find it more exhausting than if they were incredibly boring
- 22:30Speaker 3: and had nothing to offer. There's just like, I'll watch
- 22:32Speaker 3: what you wish for. There's exhaustion in both the categories.
- 22:37Speaker 3: I would say, sure, do you see your family often?
- 22:40Speaker 4: Ish? I would say a couple times a year, So
- 22:42Speaker 4: that feels like often to me.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's about where I am at this point. Yeah,
- 22:46Speaker 3: do they come here or do you go to them?
- 22:48Speaker 3: I always go to them, Okay, it's probably.
- 22:51Speaker 4: I kind of prefer it. Yeah, you have a little
- 22:53Speaker 4: more control.
- 22:53Speaker 3: They never come here, But I kind of love that.
- 22:56Speaker 4: I'm like butt hurt on one on the one end,
- 22:58Speaker 4: because I've lived in LA since two thousand and eight.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Right, they've never come here.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Never.
- 23:03Speaker 3: My brother has come here.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Okay, but but it's also like I but it's also
- 23:08Speaker 4: do I want them to come here? Kind of No,
- 23:10Speaker 4: certainly not some characters. There's characters who.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Are a little more work right, Yes, I can definitely
- 23:17Speaker 3: speak to that off podcast.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Members of them I love having here. They listen to
- 23:22Speaker 3: your podcast, some of them do, yea.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Some of them.
- 23:25Speaker 3: My mom listens to a decent amount. My sister listens
- 23:27Speaker 3: to it, and then it's unclear who else is listening
- 23:31Speaker 3: at all times. So I think my family listened to
- 23:33Speaker 3: any of my podcast, Thank God, God, bless God, bless no.
- 23:36Speaker 3: I you know, I appreciate. I'm glad the people who
- 23:39Speaker 3: listen are the most understanding members. Yeah, patient, you know.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Letting you live authentically right without being censored, right, right,
- 23:47Speaker 4: it's important.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Have you seen Long Legs?
- 23:51Speaker 4: No, I haven't seen it, and I love horror.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Okay, I love horror. I haven't seen it, so we
- 23:56Speaker 3: could because talk about it there. I mean I want
- 24:00Speaker 3: to lower your I want to lower your expectations. Okay, okay, okay, okay,
- 24:05Speaker 3: we're yeah, they're low. I was not scared by this movie, okay,
- 24:08Speaker 3: but I think something might. About halfway through, I thought,
- 24:11Speaker 3: am I broken? Why is this not frightening? The very
- 24:14Speaker 3: beginning's frightening and then almost not scary at all for
- 24:17Speaker 3: the rest of the movie.
- 24:18Speaker 4: I do get that, I mean, aren't we We've all
- 24:20Speaker 4: been broken in a way like horror, and so many
- 24:23Speaker 4: horrible things have happened in life and in the world
- 24:26Speaker 4: that Horror is has never been more camp.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Right, extremely camp and almost comfort Yeah, just like well, it's.
- 24:34Speaker 4: At least you know, there's a murderous clown trying to
- 24:37Speaker 4: shove me into a suer grade who.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Will eventually be contained by the end of the movie,
- 24:41Speaker 3: will hopefully be contained.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Yeah, so at least at least we know he goes
- 24:45Speaker 4: away for twenty seven years. That's comforting. No, but yeah,
- 24:50Speaker 4: I very much relate to what you're saying. It's like
- 24:52Speaker 4: a weird gift of having a traumatizing family. Is he
- 24:57Speaker 4: is like becoming such a stronger version of yourself. And
- 25:02Speaker 4: horror does feel like comedy to you? Did you watch Maxine?
- 25:06Speaker 3: I haven't seen. I just recently watched Pearl and X. Okay, okay, okay,
- 25:10Speaker 3: which I enjoyed but was again not scared. Yeah, okay,
- 25:14Speaker 3: were you scared by those movies? No, certainly not Pearl
- 25:19Speaker 3: No X. It's interesting. They're interesting movies. They're not so
- 25:22Speaker 3: much scary, right, They're more like tone or I'm not
- 25:26Speaker 3: quite sure. Like I enjoyed watching them, but I was like,
- 25:28Speaker 3: I don't even know what to describe that as VI. Yeah,
- 25:31Speaker 3: very vibe, very I guess kind of gothic or something.
- 25:35Speaker 3: It's just darkness. Mea gothic, be a gothic. Yeah, that's
- 25:38Speaker 3: her full name.
- 25:40Speaker 4: No, but yeah, it's kind of a vibe. So I'd
- 25:42Speaker 4: be curious to see if you like it or not.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I mean the trailer definitely sends off an enormous vibe.
- 25:48Speaker 4: The vibe is immaculate. Okay, but quote my niece, no,
- 25:53Speaker 4: but like the vibe is viby. But that's people are
- 25:55Speaker 4: bringing up the point that is it a movie?
- 25:57Speaker 3: Oh interesting?
- 25:58Speaker 4: Is it a movie or is it a vibe? Wow?
- 26:02Speaker 3: That far?
- 26:03Speaker 4: People go that far, And I mean that's really a
- 26:05Speaker 4: fair question. But I got trick because I watched it.
- 26:07Speaker 4: I was like, that's a movie, and then someone was like,
- 26:09Speaker 4: I don't think it was. And then I went, oh,
- 26:13Speaker 4: maybe it wasn't.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Were you entertained? Yeah?
- 26:15Speaker 4: I was entertained for sure.
- 26:16Speaker 3: That's all I ask for at this point. Yes, give
- 26:19Speaker 3: me an hour and a half of me feeling something.
- 26:21Speaker 3: You're gonna feel something, okay, and you're gonna feel gay
- 26:24Speaker 3: when you watch it. Okay, you're gonna be like, yes,
- 26:26Speaker 3: I'm gay. You know it's right. I mean the trailer
- 26:30Speaker 3: makes that. That makes sense from the trailer.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Yeah, is there's some real Hollywood inside bullshit too?
- 26:35Speaker 3: Is it scary? Is there any like attempts at being scary.
- 26:38Speaker 4: Mmmmm. I would think it's more of a thrill here
- 26:41Speaker 4: and there than truly scary. Okay, what's the scariest movie
- 26:45Speaker 4: you've seen ever? Yeah?
- 26:47Speaker 3: The Strangers.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 26:49Speaker 3: It was awful. I mean it is such a The
- 26:52Speaker 3: first time, the feeling was so terrible. Yeah, I mean,
- 26:56Speaker 3: in a obviously effective way. It wanted me to feel scared.
- 26:59Speaker 3: And the first time I started watching it about twelve
- 27:04Speaker 3: forty five am alone. By the time they were knocking
- 27:08Speaker 3: on the door, I had to turn it off. Yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 3: I had to wait for someone else to be with
- 27:12Speaker 3: me to.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Watch the maker Gosh, you know, I have a huge
- 27:14Speaker 4: criticism about that movie though. What the ending sucks? I
- 27:17Speaker 4: can't remember the ending spoiler.
- 27:20Speaker 3: One, two, three, four.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Okay, they kill them and to me, oh, they kill
- 27:26Speaker 4: the people who live in the house. Yeah, they live
- 27:28Speaker 4: Tyler and Scott Speedman, Right, how rude? They're hot. People
- 27:34Speaker 4: don't kill them, No, but they deserve to They deserve
- 27:36Speaker 4: to live. But I mean, I argue, it's so much
- 27:38Speaker 4: scarier to let them live.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Oh, you think it's scarier to let them live? Yes,
- 27:43Speaker 3: let them live the trauma.
- 27:44Speaker 4: Let them live, because that's their whole ethos They say,
- 27:47Speaker 4: why did you do this? Because you were home and
- 27:51Speaker 4: their whole thing is the game. So it's way scarier
- 27:54Speaker 4: to let them live. It's like killing them is completely
- 27:56Speaker 4: anti climactic.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Well do you know why. I think the reason they
- 27:59Speaker 3: say that is because this is my criticism of the movie.
- 28:02Speaker 3: It says based on true events, and you know what,
- 28:05Speaker 3: it's based on.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Exactly the Sharon Tate murders, which yeah.
- 28:10Speaker 3: I mean, it's just like, oh so it's just based
- 28:11Speaker 3: on a concept of murder, like just it has nothing
- 28:15Speaker 3: to do with the Manson family, right, But the reason
- 28:18Speaker 3: Sharon Tate that situation unfolded, the reason she was killed.
- 28:21Speaker 4: She wasn't the target, she.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Was just there. They thought the Manson group thought they
- 28:28Speaker 3: were going to kill somebody else. I didn't know this
- 28:30Speaker 3: part of this, huh, So I think that that must
- 28:32Speaker 3: be why I like at the end of it. And
- 28:34Speaker 3: that is a scary thing to say.
- 28:35Speaker 4: That's a very scary thing to say. That's my my
- 28:37Speaker 4: favorite part about the Manson family.
- 28:40Speaker 3: We all have a favorite isolate that just that.
- 28:47Speaker 4: The reason I will defend the Manson family till I die.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Creepy crawling, you're familiar with creepy.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Of course, what a scary thing to call it scary?
- 28:56Speaker 4: And if you're not familiar with that, that thing that
- 28:57Speaker 4: they did where before they killed, they would sneak into
- 29:01Speaker 4: people's homes, move something in a person's home, very obviously,
- 29:06Speaker 4: just to un just to unsettle the people living in
- 29:09Speaker 4: that home. Oh, and to me, that's that's the core
- 29:12Speaker 4: of the scare. It's like, killing isn't scary. Letting them
- 29:15Speaker 4: live with this, living in a world where people creepy
- 29:18Speaker 4: crawl is scary.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it just becomes torture because you can never escape. Then, yeah,
- 29:22Speaker 3: creepy crawling. And what a great branding of a thing.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Right, it became way I'm thirty eight, right, did you
- 29:28Speaker 4: grow up with the creepy crawler?
- 29:30Speaker 3: Oh?
- 29:30Speaker 4: Yeah? Oh?
- 29:30Speaker 3: Interesting, creepy crawlers. They must creepy crawlers must not have
- 29:35Speaker 3: been aware of the Manson connection, were they? What's worse?
- 29:38Speaker 3: Was it a trade or didn't know? I think it
- 29:42Speaker 3: was a secret training device for children somehow trying to
- 29:45Speaker 3: breed the next generation of Manson's. Manson's the next generation.
- 29:50Speaker 4: And one of my favorite thing about that, the next
- 29:53Speaker 4: generation of Manson's.
- 29:54Speaker 3: No, that's interesting. I wonder, I mean, creepy crawler. I
- 29:59Speaker 3: wonder where that did that come? Pre Charles? Did he
- 30:04Speaker 3: take that from somebody else?
- 30:06Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 30:07Speaker 3: Probably probably creepy crawling. Another favorite thing about the Manson
- 30:11Speaker 3: family is I believe that night they went to Denny's. Okay,
- 30:17Speaker 3: amazing Denny's would embrace They should.
- 30:20Speaker 4: They should do a Manson family menu, just blood splattered PAMs,
- 30:24Speaker 4: you know what I mean, some ligament.
- 30:27Speaker 3: Burrito's over Manson or something.
- 30:30Speaker 4: Okay, Manson's. How do you feel about Shirley Manson Garbage?
- 30:33Speaker 4: Of course, we love Shirley Manson. We Scottish Chiro hero.
- 30:38Speaker 4: I love her so much.
- 30:39Speaker 3: I you know, I've never really gotten into garbage that much,
- 30:41Speaker 3: but I love the band name of course, Yes, I
- 30:43Speaker 3: love I feel like they put out. Isn't an album
- 30:46Speaker 3: called absolute garbage?
- 30:47Speaker 4: Yes?
- 30:48Speaker 3: I mean incredible, incredible to call an album of your
- 30:51Speaker 3: music absolute garbage is genius. Nothing better than that.
- 30:55Speaker 4: I love them.
- 30:55Speaker 3: I love her. I met her twice.
- 30:57Speaker 4: You met her twice when twice the first time was
- 31:00Speaker 4: I was creepy crawling. This is true. I was walking
- 31:04Speaker 4: by the Hollywood Tower. Okay, and Hollywood Tower used to
- 31:08Speaker 4: do these rooftop radio shows, and I knew my friend
- 31:14Speaker 4: lived there, so I was able to sneak into the
- 31:16Speaker 4: Hollywood Tower because I knew the door code. Okay, okay,
- 31:20Speaker 4: they were I was like, is someone playing garbage really loud?
- 31:23Speaker 3: I was like, it sounds stunning.
- 31:25Speaker 4: No. It turns out they were doing the sound check
- 31:28Speaker 4: on the roof of the Hollywood Tower, and everything in
- 31:32Speaker 4: me said, oh, I'm this is a real moment. Am
- 31:36Speaker 4: I going to crash their soundcheck? Or am I going
- 31:39Speaker 4: to be a normal person? Yeah?
- 31:41Speaker 3: You really find out how normal you are in this situation.
- 31:44Speaker 4: And I failed the test or I passed the test,
- 31:46Speaker 4: I don't know, but I creepy crawled up there. They
- 31:50Speaker 4: were sound checking and kind of singing songs, and I
- 31:53Speaker 4: lied right to her face and said, oh, I just
- 31:55Speaker 4: I was. I'm a huge fan, but I live here
- 31:57Speaker 4: in the building and I just heard heard you singing
- 32:01Speaker 4: when I grow up from my apartment, so I thought
- 32:03Speaker 4: I had to come see what's up. So I just
- 32:06Speaker 4: she assumed I was a normal person right living there?
- 32:08Speaker 4: And how was she delightful? Oh that's great, sweet, thoughtful,
- 32:12Speaker 4: asked questions I told her because also I had a
- 32:15Speaker 4: funny history with her.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Where it was the first concert I went to.
- 32:19Speaker 4: Uh huh, and my sweet mom drove me to Myrtle
- 32:22Speaker 4: Beach to the House of Blues Wow, to watch Garbage
- 32:27Speaker 4: when I was like thirteen.
- 32:29Speaker 3: That is incredible. Was your mom at the show with you? Yeah? Incredible?
- 32:32Speaker 3: I know, just watching from the sidelines. That is so lovely.
- 32:36Speaker 4: It was really cute. So I told her that, and
- 32:39Speaker 4: she's and I can't do her gorgeous Glasgowegian accent. Sure,
- 32:43Speaker 4: she was like, oh, I love your mom, And how
- 32:46Speaker 4: sweet that you have that memory.
- 32:49Speaker 3: That was the first time I met her. Okay, and
- 32:50Speaker 3: let me ask one thing. Was she's sporting a red
- 32:53Speaker 3: lip at the time. I associate her with a strong
- 32:55Speaker 3: red baby. I want to say yes, I have a
- 32:58Speaker 3: picture of it somewhere, but I want to say yes, Okay,
- 33:00Speaker 3: I feel like that's true. Right she rocks around? Okay, yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 3: that's kind of her signature.
- 33:05Speaker 4: That's the hair phase is you know that's short, the
- 33:06Speaker 4: short hair face, right, we don't remember the red What
- 33:09Speaker 4: color was it when you saw her? What are they blondish?
- 33:12Speaker 3: Oh? Interesting? What is she naturally? What's you're running from?
- 33:16Speaker 3: That's the big question?
- 33:18Speaker 4: Is she a real natural redhead? And when you see
- 33:20Speaker 4: other natural redheads, do you go do you wink at them?
- 33:24Speaker 3: I think I have a blindness. Okay, I think I'm
- 33:26Speaker 3: easily fooled by a hair dye, a wig with hair.
- 33:30Speaker 3: I just maybe I just see too much goodness in people.
- 33:33Speaker 3: I feel like no one's willing to deceive me, and
- 33:36Speaker 3: so wigs, hair color. I'm just like, I guess that's
- 33:38Speaker 3: the real thing. I mean, the most, the most famous
- 33:41Speaker 3: is Christina Hendrix. Oh, she's fake blonde.
- 33:45Speaker 4: I pulls it off.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I'm aghast she pulls it off incredibly.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Does pull it off. Some people are meant to be red.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Yeah. I think she something went wrong universally. She was
- 33:55Speaker 3: born blonde, but was able to locate what colors she
- 33:58Speaker 3: actually needed.
- 33:58Speaker 4: I have another dear friend who was like running from
- 34:01Speaker 4: her redness her whole life, and then finally leaned into it.
- 34:04Speaker 3: And obviously everyone around her.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Was like, oh, you're beautiful, and she was like, you know,
- 34:10Speaker 4: almost frustrated. She was like, I know, why have I
- 34:13Speaker 4: been running from this?
- 34:14Speaker 1: Well?
- 34:15Speaker 3: The thing is is you can't run from red. Red
- 34:18Speaker 3: hair is one redheaded people are the one people who
- 34:20Speaker 3: can't dye their hair without it looking strange or like, oh,
- 34:23Speaker 3: something's off. Yeah, you can go red. Yeah, you simply
- 34:27Speaker 3: can't go from red to something else. It's just unless
- 34:30Speaker 3: you're like going into I mean, the only you have
- 34:33Speaker 3: to go darker, sure, or you look sick and I'm
- 34:38Speaker 3: you know, I've never had a gothic phase or any
- 34:41Speaker 3: time where I felt like, oh I need to be
- 34:42Speaker 3: a darker version of myself.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, let's get back to Shirley Manson.
- 34:50Speaker 4: That's She's great. I feel like I've derailed yourself. I've
- 34:52Speaker 4: derailed your entire podcast. I feel this podcast should be
- 34:56Speaker 4: called derailed the entire there's I've never been an episode
- 35:00Speaker 4: of this podcast that was on rail. Okay, but I
- 35:04Speaker 4: need to hear the second surely. Okay. This that one
- 35:06Speaker 4: was more funny because.
- 35:08Speaker 3: This time you were in her home.
- 35:10Speaker 4: I wish I wish.
- 35:13Speaker 3: It was in her smelling her hair.
- 35:15Speaker 4: No, but her goddaughter, who's a lovely comedian named Ruby.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Her goddaughter took.
- 35:21Speaker 4: My improv class.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Oh my god, and came to an improv class of
- 35:25Speaker 3: mine wearing a garbage sweater and I was like, oh,
- 35:27Speaker 3: I love garbage.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Oh. And then she said, oh, my dad's in the band,
- 35:31Speaker 4: And I said, and of course I tried to I
- 35:33Speaker 4: didn't I didn't even play it cool.
- 35:34Speaker 3: And I was like, what the fuck are you saying
- 35:36Speaker 3: to me? Are you fucking kidding me?
- 35:38Speaker 4: This band that like actually raised me, you're the offspring
- 35:43Speaker 4: of the band that raised me.
- 35:45Speaker 3: And then she was like ha haha. Yes.
- 35:47Speaker 4: I was like that's amazing, that's so cool, and she's like, yeah,
- 35:49Speaker 4: surely man said my godmother. I was like, wow, lucky horror.
- 35:53Speaker 3: How many people have a godmother with merch?
- 35:55Speaker 4: I know, the big question, I know. And then she
- 35:59Speaker 4: was like, oh, yeah, she's gonna come to my improv
- 36:01Speaker 4: because I was teaching improp one to one. She's like,
- 36:03Speaker 4: she's gonna come to the improv one on one grad
- 36:05Speaker 4: show and I was like oh, and I it took
- 36:08Speaker 4: everything in me to be like, because the other thing
- 36:10Speaker 4: is like that day is not about me, well, sometimes
- 36:14Speaker 4: it has to be. It's not it has to be.
- 36:16Speaker 4: It wasn't about me, and and because it was about
- 36:20Speaker 4: everyone else, and I was very selfless and but then
- 36:24Speaker 4: one of the assholes someone in the audience recognized her
- 36:26Speaker 4: and gave the improv suggestion garbage.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Oh You've got to be kidding.
- 36:30Speaker 4: Which was and I saw Shirley Manson go like touch
- 36:35Speaker 4: her brow in frustration of like, can you fucking please
- 36:37Speaker 4: leave me?
- 36:38Speaker 3: And I live my life and.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Then let me enjoy my lovely goddaughter's improv show and
- 36:43Speaker 4: let her enjoy her performance without you being a creep
- 36:46Speaker 4: all those things.
- 36:47Speaker 3: And I met her after the show again and it
- 36:49Speaker 3: was really nice. I mean, unless Ruby planted that. I mean,
- 36:52Speaker 3: I think Ruby wants garbage to be She's wearing the merch.
- 36:55Speaker 3: She is out there kind of trying to promote the
- 36:58Speaker 3: band Ruby.
- 36:59Speaker 4: Ruby has a secret Ruby shout out to Ruby, Wow.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I wonder what your third meeting will be.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Like, Oh god, I hope it's why, Oh my god. Okay,
- 37:08Speaker 4: here's my dream. I've successfully cast Shirley Manson in my
- 37:12Speaker 4: comedy pilot, where she gets to play a dismissive, rude
- 37:17Speaker 4: boss of some kind.
- 37:19Speaker 3: She would be so good at that. She weirdly did
- 37:21Speaker 3: in the Terminator TV show. I didn't know she acted.
- 37:24Speaker 4: She acted, Yeah, she was in this Terminator TV show
- 37:27Speaker 4: from the early mid odds. Well she goes strange. Yeah wow,
- 37:31Speaker 4: oh yeah she was. I'm biased.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Did she play a Scottish person?
- 37:35Speaker 4: I don't remember. I want to say she used her
- 37:37Speaker 4: natural accent. Okay, okay, yeah, Scottish terminator, Scottish Terminator's nothing
- 37:42Speaker 4: worse than when an actor with quite a thick accent
- 37:46Speaker 4: goes American.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Well do you think it's uh? I feel like they're
- 37:50Speaker 3: able to pull it off again. But maybe this goes
- 37:53Speaker 3: back to me just believing anything anyone ever does.
- 37:56Speaker 4: I think you're kinder than me. Whereas okay, it's and
- 38:00Speaker 4: specifically I need to shut up. But I was in Canada,
- 38:03Speaker 4: I was on set. I was on set, and this
- 38:07Speaker 4: is a show that's supposed to take place in the South.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Okay, well we have Canadian actors. Oh, I mean you
- 38:12Speaker 3: can't run from a Canadian accent. That will there will
- 38:15Speaker 3: always be a peek into a Canadian accent.
- 38:17Speaker 4: Yes, And part of the job was just being like, no,
- 38:20Speaker 4: shut up, don't say that. Like they're like, I love
- 38:23Speaker 4: me a glass of water, and so partly I was like, no, no,
- 38:27Speaker 4: you love water, you love water, like and it was
- 38:31Speaker 4: like so that. So I don't know, I'm biased. Sometimes
- 38:34Speaker 4: I think running away from an accent is hard.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like there has been recently a British
- 38:39Speaker 3: person trying to do an American accent.
- 38:40Speaker 1: That.
- 38:40Speaker 3: It was the first time that I've really been like, oh,
- 38:42Speaker 3: you shouldn't have tried. We should have just hired an American.
- 38:45Speaker 3: That part, but for the most part, I feel like
- 38:47Speaker 3: British people are better at doing an American accent. That
- 38:50Speaker 3: Americans are able to do a British accent.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that that is a hund oh a
- 38:54Speaker 4: million percent true.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Why is that?
- 38:57Speaker 4: I don't know, they're smart, it's stupid.
- 39:00Speaker 3: And I feel like maybe because American accents are it's
- 39:03Speaker 3: just like a flattening that all you have to do.
- 39:06Speaker 3: There's less work.
- 39:07Speaker 4: You just essentially just crush everything, every word into the
- 39:12Speaker 4: blandest version. Yeah, it's whereas the various British accents there's
- 39:17Speaker 4: I mean, vowels are going in every possible direction.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Absolutely, it's a little they've it's a more complicated version
- 39:25Speaker 3: of it.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Oh my god. Scottish accent Scottish, I would say, if
- 39:30Speaker 4: this is right?
- 39:31Speaker 3: Sometimes is for me indecipherable. Have you had a Scottish accent?
- 39:36Speaker 3: Do you to our Scottish listeners?
- 39:39Speaker 4: So sorry, have you heard that thing of like Scottish people,
- 39:43Speaker 4: it's really hard for Scottish people to say purple burglar alarm.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Oh you're kidding, what do they what ends up happening?
- 39:48Speaker 4: It's they implode Purple burglar alarm incredibly hard if you
- 39:52Speaker 4: have a Scottish act.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Psycho came up with that.
- 39:54Speaker 4: I mean, I don't try. But if you are at
- 39:57Speaker 4: home safely and you feel safe doing dialect, say purple
- 40:01Speaker 4: burglar alarm three times in a Scottish accent, you'll you'll
- 40:04Speaker 4: actually implode.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Well, look, I mean we've got to talk about something else. Yeah,
- 40:10Speaker 3: it's time. We're bordering on the offensive here. The Scottish
- 40:14Speaker 3: listeners are turning down the dial, they're leaving negative reviews.
- 40:17Speaker 3: We have to move on. There's something else I have
- 40:20Speaker 3: to talk to you about. Okay, I was really excited
- 40:23Speaker 3: to have Mono on the podcast today. How could I
- 40:25Speaker 3: not be a beam of light? Will have a wonderful time.
- 40:30Speaker 3: You know, I'm hanging by a threat emotionally. I need this.
- 40:33Speaker 3: I need to have a nice episode of the podcast.
- 40:36Speaker 3: So I was a little surprised. I was, I'll say
- 40:39Speaker 3: a little disappointed. The podcast is called I said, no gifts,
- 40:43Speaker 3: and here you come trotting into my backyard holding what's
- 40:46Speaker 3: obviously a gift for me. I mean it couldn't be
- 40:49Speaker 3: what you brought could not be more clearly a gift.
- 40:53Speaker 4: It's gorgeously packaged. It's gorgeously packaged, it's addressed to me,
- 40:58Speaker 4: it's already been opened.
- 40:59Speaker 3: It has a huge warning label fragile. Thank you. Yes,
- 41:05Speaker 3: it's a gift for me.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I had to get you something. I knew you
- 41:08Speaker 4: to be upset. I hate to hear that. I know,
- 41:11Speaker 4: I know. But it's small. It's small. It's small. It's
- 41:16Speaker 4: incredibly personal, but it's also small, okay, and it means
- 41:19Speaker 4: a lot to me. But it was tiny, okay. And
- 41:22Speaker 4: also it's an heirloom. But it's nothing.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I mean, we're at a crossroads. We can stop recording
- 41:29Speaker 3: or I can open it here on the podcast.
- 41:31Speaker 4: I think you should open it because you're gonna see
- 41:33Speaker 4: it's it's minuscule.
- 41:34Speaker 3: It's tiny, Okay, I'm gonna take your word for it.
- 41:38Speaker 3: It's and you'll be glad to know.
- 41:40Speaker 4: It's deeply self serving. So it has nothing to it
- 41:44Speaker 4: almost has nothing to do with you, Okay, And once
- 41:47Speaker 4: you see, you'll really understand how it has nothing to do.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Sort of medication for you. Pull this out.
- 41:53Speaker 4: I do need you to open that. Oh, I mean
- 41:58Speaker 4: you're off the podcast, get out of here. It's it's lipstick, yes,
- 42:04Speaker 4: drag her lipstick, Yes, drag her.
- 42:08Speaker 3: You can go ahead and just tell everybody.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Guess if you insist.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Uh.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I have a the Only drag Race podcast, much
- 42:15Speaker 4: like you, I also do a bit where I host
- 42:19Speaker 4: the Only drag Race podcast.
- 42:21Speaker 3: You kind of send seasoned desist letters to other people
- 42:23Speaker 3: trying to start them.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Thankfully, Yeah, no one, and I know one I know
- 42:27Speaker 4: talking about it on the internet, which is a shock
- 42:29Speaker 4: to me. No, but a lovely, the lovely, amazing Tyler
- 42:33Speaker 4: Sparr sent me these, who is an amazing creator who
- 42:37Speaker 4: makes personalized drag Race style lipsticks. Wow, and sent me
- 42:44Speaker 4: literally was just like, hey, like, you always make album
- 42:46Speaker 4: artwork for your for your podcast with little lipsticks that
- 42:51Speaker 4: are fashioned after the ones on the show. Can I
- 42:54Speaker 4: send you some that say drag Her? And thankfully he
- 42:57Speaker 4: sent me two sets.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Okay, so you've got some. I have them at home
- 43:00Speaker 3: and I gave you the ones I liked less.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Wow.
- 43:02Speaker 3: This feels sort of like, uh, you know, the like
- 43:05Speaker 3: cursed objects where one person has them and another person
- 43:08Speaker 3: has them. Yes, they can never come back together again.
- 43:11Speaker 3: What are they?
- 43:12Speaker 4: It's but it's like turtle doves from home alone too?
- 43:15Speaker 3: What what turtle doves from home alone too? I mean
- 43:19Speaker 3: not in years?
- 43:20Speaker 4: So remember the kind of ghost man who runs the
- 43:23Speaker 4: toy store gives little McCully culkin.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I guess I haven't seen it in a very long time,
- 43:28Speaker 3: the ghost man who runs the toys.
- 43:30Speaker 4: I think it's like alluded to that the man at
- 43:33Speaker 4: the counter, like was never real what in home alone?
- 43:37Speaker 4: I don't recall any of this.
- 43:39Speaker 3: There's an evil spirit, a trickster spirit.
- 43:42Speaker 4: Way wrong. There's like a sweet old man at the
- 43:45Speaker 4: counter who when McCully culkin is running away from the
- 43:49Speaker 4: sticky band, it's it's like, take these these little ornaments that.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Are turtle doves.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Turtle doves always like come back together. You'll keep one
- 43:57Speaker 4: and you'll give another one to someone meaningful, Okay, And
- 44:01Speaker 4: then he ends up giving one turtle dove to the
- 44:03Speaker 4: bird lady.
- 44:05Speaker 3: I remember her, Yeah, I mean she was frightening. I mean,
- 44:09Speaker 3: I mean scarier than long legs. Imagine her smell. Oh boy,
- 44:13Speaker 3: I mean she should have shared that hotel room with
- 44:16Speaker 3: Kevin Shower. It is the winter in New York and
- 44:20Speaker 3: that rich.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Horrible little boy rich, horrible little boy stayed in a
- 44:24Speaker 4: presidential suite.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Got all sorts of dessert pizza, their filthy.
- 44:28Speaker 4: Piss covered child, His piss covered brother had a king
- 44:31Speaker 4: bed to himself. They didn't once think about this unhoused
- 44:35Speaker 4: woman who lives in Central Park during the winter of New.
- 44:37Speaker 3: York, the oldest place in the world.
- 44:40Speaker 4: Mong girls.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Wow, there have died on their watch.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Yes, they're worse than the Succession family.
- 44:46Speaker 3: They are essentially there's a reason Donald Trump is in
- 44:48Speaker 3: that movie because those little boys have the spirit of
- 44:51Speaker 3: Donald Trump.
- 44:52Speaker 4: They endorsed devils. They endorsed him fully. They penned Project
- 44:57Speaker 4: twenty twenty five. Kevin McAllister is the author behind Project the.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Ghost, behind that entire operation, The Devil the Wow, You've
- 45:08Speaker 3: really uncovered something about that movie that I think people
- 45:11Speaker 3: need to take a look at.
- 45:12Speaker 4: I think so. I think so, And that's why I've
- 45:15Speaker 4: got you. This will be linked forever. You'll be glad
- 45:18Speaker 4: to know that they're lip bombs. Oh, they're lip balm.
- 45:20Speaker 4: They're lip bombs. Soreible, dramatic lip b it's a dramatic
- 45:24Speaker 4: lip To pull this out of my bag.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Yes, Oh, I'm thrilled about this.
- 45:28Speaker 4: I'm happy for you too, and you'll always remember that
- 45:30Speaker 4: there's only one drag Race podcast, drag her.
- 45:34Speaker 3: How why are lip bombs not more often put in
- 45:37Speaker 3: a dramatic lipstick container?
- 45:39Speaker 4: Homophobia?
- 45:40Speaker 3: Unbelievable. It's time to drop the uh, you know, the
- 45:44Speaker 3: little round tube.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Can I be so forward as to ask you to
- 45:47Speaker 4: apply some now? Of course?
- 45:49Speaker 3: On at least we can record me applying. I hope
- 45:52Speaker 3: it is just a deep dark Shirley Manson redy dude,
- 45:57Speaker 3: you immediately start crooning. I'm on that hap wing it.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, Wow, gorgeous packaging. What a thoughtful gift.
- 46:07Speaker 3: I think you just pull out.
- 46:10Speaker 4: I don't know, okay what what?
- 46:16Speaker 3: Okay?
- 46:17Speaker 4: Oh my god, oh my god. One is empty.
- 46:19Speaker 3: I'm so sorry.
- 46:20Speaker 4: One is empty.
- 46:22Speaker 3: Let's try the other one. Drugs.
- 46:29Speaker 4: Let's see if the other one is okay, good, good good,
- 46:33Speaker 4: it's just alone, just a single bullet. Okay, Let's see
- 46:36Speaker 4: if this one hasn't.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Empty.
- 46:41Speaker 3: I've been given to Oh my trick, lip Baltons. This
- 46:46Speaker 3: is maybe the greatest I can this is my mind work,
- 46:51Speaker 3: This is the great this is somehow the meanest. Is
- 46:55Speaker 3: this the meanest gift you've ever gotten? This is cruel.
- 46:58Speaker 3: This is cruel because the listener was excited. I was excited. Yes, unbelievable.
- 47:03Speaker 4: This is ridiculously I think I brought you the worst
- 47:07Speaker 4: gift in the history of the show, because not only
- 47:10Speaker 4: is it self serving, it's self promotional. I opened it already.
- 47:15Speaker 4: It was a it was a prank on top of
- 47:17Speaker 4: all of this. I am this is so sorry.
- 47:21Speaker 3: How does this even happen?
- 47:22Speaker 4: I don't know. I can tell you I again, I
- 47:26Speaker 4: want to plug the lovely person who gave me these
- 47:28Speaker 4: for free. And I'm guarantee this is a once in
- 47:32Speaker 4: a lifetime mistake.
- 47:34Speaker 3: I hope there are two naked lip bombs at your
- 47:37Speaker 3: home right now in just a ziploc bag. You couldn't
- 47:40Speaker 3: couldn't part with the ball itself.
- 47:43Speaker 4: If I just if I on, oh my god, if
- 47:47Speaker 4: I basically neutered the lip bombs by myself and then
- 47:52Speaker 4: just brought you the case, I remembers, this is actually perfect.
- 47:58Speaker 3: I can put a vial of poison in it.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Yes, this is very When your partner, when I'm ready
- 48:03Speaker 4: to kill my partner, ready to kill your partner if
- 48:05Speaker 4: he starts getting if he starts towing the line of
- 48:07Speaker 4: over bickering at dinner.
- 48:09Speaker 3: I pull this out, I open it. Yes, tap tap
- 48:13Speaker 3: tap into the water and then wait, this is actually
- 48:16Speaker 3: an incredible spy device. This is a great spi device.
- 48:19Speaker 4: If you ever, if you ever start doing drugs like cocaine,
- 48:23Speaker 4: you could put some cocaine in there.
- 48:24Speaker 3: I guess absolutely, just snort it right out of the top,
- 48:27Speaker 3: death immediately. But I truly feel like if James Bond
- 48:32Speaker 3: would just not be deeply homophobic, he could have this
- 48:35Speaker 3: in his little purse.
- 48:37Speaker 4: Yes, oh my god, you can put some little pills
- 48:39Speaker 4: in there. Maybe pills give me like hills Cyanai anthrax, anthracks. Jewelry,
- 48:46Speaker 4: tiny tiny jewelry, you know.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Like a light necklace, a light chain. Yeah, gold chain
- 48:52Speaker 3: in case you don't want to wear it. I'm excited
- 48:54Speaker 3: to see what you do with this. There's simply nothing
- 48:56Speaker 3: I can well won't be going on my.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Lips, won't be going on your list.
- 49:01Speaker 3: This is incredible. I've never seen something like this happen.
- 49:04Speaker 3: I mean, either that is like what manufacturer.
- 49:07Speaker 4: Now I'm gonna say, Tyler, now, this is not Tyler
- 49:11Speaker 4: spar Is is you is a craftsman among among men,
- 49:16Speaker 4: and this is not usually in fact, I blame me,
- 49:19Speaker 4: I blame no.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Everybody should trust Tyler Sparr. I don't know him, yes,
- 49:24Speaker 3: and I've never had a good experience with him, Let's
- 49:26Speaker 3: just be very clear, being my one experience has been bad. Yeah,
- 49:30Speaker 3: but we all make mistakes, and he may have known
- 49:32Speaker 3: what you were going.
- 49:33Speaker 4: To do with these.
- 49:34Speaker 3: He may have known he didn't want to wasted on this.
- 49:36Speaker 3: You know he thinks bridge of wininggger sucks. Don't give him.
- 49:40Speaker 4: Lip bull or he knew you didn't want gifts.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Oh, interesting, So it was carrying a move of, you know,
- 49:45Speaker 3: deep caring.
- 49:46Speaker 4: This is a Max Original doc series that we're gonna
- 49:50Speaker 4: have to get deep into. This is at least six episodes.
- 49:53Speaker 3: I know someone's asked you this, but have you always
- 49:55Speaker 3: hated gifts?
- 49:57Speaker 4: I always?
- 49:58Speaker 3: I do deeply, Just like opening gift in front of
- 50:00Speaker 3: another person, I think I get from my mom to
- 50:02Speaker 3: the like, oh, I can't believe you did something for me.
- 50:06Speaker 4: I realized this.
- 50:07Speaker 3: I'm like realizing it's not a healthy attitude. Well, I
- 50:11Speaker 3: get it, though, I certainly get it.
- 50:12Speaker 4: I get why it's like you should you we as
- 50:16Speaker 4: humans should evolve to maybe feel worthy of a gift, right,
- 50:20Speaker 4: but maybe you're all you're it sounds like you're more
- 50:22Speaker 4: so saying the expectation of the reaction is too much.
- 50:27Speaker 3: That's tough. Yeah, both things are difficult for me. I'm
- 50:33Speaker 3: I'm good at reacting well, uh what, regardless of what
- 50:37Speaker 3: the gift is. But I almost always feel bad that
- 50:40Speaker 3: the person did something for me. Yeah what about you?
- 50:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I share this unfortunately, Like it's so weird that
- 50:49Speaker 4: I mean, I am attention seeking person. I'm comedian right.
- 50:53Speaker 3: You're asking for things emotionally all the time.
- 50:56Speaker 4: Yes, But then when it's my birthday, I get pretty
- 51:00Speaker 4: I get pretty uncomfortable that people are giving me attention.
- 51:04Speaker 4: And I couldn't exactly pinpoint why that I want attention
- 51:09Speaker 4: in so many ways. I want so much attention, I
- 51:11Speaker 4: need so much validation. But when it's someone says, okay,
- 51:14Speaker 4: it's actually an appropriate time for you to get attention today,
- 51:17Speaker 4: I go.
- 51:18Speaker 3: A curl up. Do you throw yourself birthday parties?
- 51:22Speaker 4: I do? But even those birthday parties, I feel like
- 51:24Speaker 4: a pressure to make it a fun time for everyone else.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Uh huh. I ruined birthday parties for myself.
- 51:31Speaker 4: Yeah, what do you do?
- 51:32Speaker 3: I feel bad because I'm like oh, I didn't get
- 51:34Speaker 3: to give everyone the amount of tension they deserve exactly exactly,
- 51:37Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh so now I night being like,
- 51:40Speaker 3: oh now, everyone's mad that I was only able to
- 51:42Speaker 3: talk for a couple of minutes.
- 51:43Speaker 4: I know, I know.
- 51:45Speaker 3: Do you do something at your home do you do
- 51:46Speaker 3: it outside? I usually do it here. I send a
- 51:50Speaker 3: very I've started sending emails with very strict rules. I
- 51:54Speaker 3: like a party to end at eleven PM, and I say,
- 51:57Speaker 3: I will ask you to leave. I love that.
- 51:59Speaker 4: I love that.
- 51:59Speaker 3: I love that, and eleven across. Maybe it was eleven
- 52:02Speaker 3: thirty last year, but the time, the moment that happens,
- 52:05Speaker 3: I'm showing people away, I'm saying it was clear in
- 52:09Speaker 3: the email, We've all had a good time, go home.
- 52:12Speaker 4: I love that.
- 52:13Speaker 3: I do that all the time.
- 52:14Speaker 4: Well, that's why I like throwing a party at David
- 52:16Speaker 4: Buster's because hey, you can stay right I'm going home.
- 52:20Speaker 4: I'm leaving David, Dave and or Buster will be here.
- 52:23Speaker 3: But I've been day in the back room for years.
- 52:26Speaker 4: But I agree. I love that my husband does something
- 52:29Speaker 4: that is actually genius, where when he's done with people
- 52:32Speaker 4: at the at at our house, it's both rude but
- 52:35Speaker 4: also deeply real and funny where he'll just get up
- 52:39Speaker 4: and go, ah, I'm going to bed, and it's that
- 52:44Speaker 4: thing of like, it is funny, it is honest, but
- 52:48Speaker 4: it is rude, right, and you just have to be
- 52:50Speaker 4: like and bute. Always he always gets the same response.
- 52:53Speaker 4: Everyone goes huh okay, like, okay.
- 52:58Speaker 3: I think people, but it is a show talk to people,
- 53:00Speaker 3: and I think they appreciate at least having a new
- 53:02Speaker 3: feeling at a birthday part. I also think people, you know,
- 53:06Speaker 3: flourish with boundaries. I do too, you know, especially at
- 53:10Speaker 3: our age. Right. Yeah, it's just like I need to
- 53:12Speaker 3: know what's going to be happening. I need every detail,
- 53:16Speaker 3: so there's no guessing, no guesswork on my part. I'll
- 53:19Speaker 3: be comfortable when it ends. I know when it begins.
- 53:22Speaker 3: I know who's there. No wild cards for me. So
- 53:26Speaker 3: what is your sex life like? Non existent?
- 53:31Speaker 4: It's been decades, that's my partner. No, No, I know
- 53:35Speaker 4: what you mean. I actually I agree. I am also
- 53:38Speaker 4: like I like, I am a pretty risk averse person.
- 53:43Speaker 4: I like some expectation.
- 53:44Speaker 3: This is why I'm scared of drugs in general.
- 53:46Speaker 4: Right, I like to know when the plane is landing,
- 53:50Speaker 4: and so many times people say, we get on this plane,
- 53:53Speaker 4: we don't know when it could.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Be hours, yeah and day. I don't think that's for me.
- 53:58Speaker 4: I would almost rather not get high then have a
- 54:02Speaker 4: wonderful time getting high.
- 54:03Speaker 3: Right, How do you the small bit of like, oh,
- 54:06Speaker 3: this high has lasted for nine hours and I may
- 54:09Speaker 3: never be sober again.
- 54:10Speaker 4: How do you feel about drinking or like that? Does
- 54:14Speaker 4: that sort of thing? Are you like, oh, yeah, I
- 54:15Speaker 4: can do a thing and no i'll land or do
- 54:18Speaker 4: I avoid? Do you avoid it because you don't know
- 54:20Speaker 4: when you'll land?
- 54:20Speaker 3: That for me, drinking in particular that it scares me
- 54:24Speaker 3: of being out of control, because that's sort of out
- 54:26Speaker 3: of control, is you know, the axhilearation aspect of it.
- 54:30Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, that feels truly out of control. Whereas
- 54:33Speaker 3: with like we it's just somebody gets really sleepy. Yeah,
- 54:37Speaker 3: they're out of control as well, like they're a little goofy.
- 54:39Speaker 3: Then they fall asleep. So that is. But as far
- 54:43Speaker 3: as drinking goes, the idea of being drunk around other
- 54:45Speaker 3: people terrifying, really absolute terror.
- 54:49Speaker 4: So do you then you don't?
- 54:50Speaker 3: No, I'll like, I'll have a drink at a Christmas party,
- 54:53Speaker 3: you know, just a glass of wine or something. But
- 54:55Speaker 3: outside of that, I'm just like that, what about you?
- 54:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm so coach, I really, I'm so god I'm
- 55:03Speaker 4: boring you, no, But my biggest thrill is having two
- 55:08Speaker 4: point two five drinks. For me, that's heaven because I
- 55:13Speaker 4: know I'm tipsy, just a little bit loose, just a
- 55:16Speaker 4: little bit loose, But I know I haven't lost control.
- 55:19Speaker 4: I know I won't. My plans to go home won't
- 55:21Speaker 4: be altered significantly, right, So for me, like people like
- 55:26Speaker 4: you could get drunker, and I find very little joy
- 55:30Speaker 4: in getting drunker.
- 55:31Speaker 3: The other fear for me is that people will like
- 55:34Speaker 3: that personality better. Oh my god, I'd be like, well
- 55:36Speaker 3: we like this version of Bridger way more? What do
- 55:39Speaker 3: we do? What do we do? That's a lifetime. I've
- 55:43Speaker 3: been committed to that personality. I'll be drunk from the
- 55:45Speaker 3: moment I wake up.
- 55:46Speaker 4: I got that's fun to see. As an anxious person.
- 55:48Speaker 4: I never thought about that, And now I've given you
- 55:50Speaker 4: a whole new thing to be.
- 55:51Speaker 3: Afraid of, anything to freak out about. There could be
- 55:54Speaker 3: a much better version of you. One drink more, what
- 55:58Speaker 3: tool do you? I don't I'm assuming you have. We
- 56:01Speaker 3: all live with anxiety. What's one of your favorite.
- 56:04Speaker 4: Pop psychology tips dealing with anxiety?
- 56:07Speaker 3: Interesting? I mean, I think there's the being in the moment.
- 56:13Speaker 3: There's the especially right now, of everything feels so unbelievably
- 56:18Speaker 3: out of control, and there's always something in me of like, oh,
- 56:21Speaker 3: I need to fix this. I can fix this. And
- 56:23Speaker 3: then if I can just focus for a minute and
- 56:25Speaker 3: be like, what is my actual reality right now? It
- 56:29Speaker 3: seems to be okay, yeah, which is not like, oh,
- 56:33Speaker 3: now I'm not going to do anything, but it's like,
- 56:35Speaker 3: at least I'm not completely spiraling, and I can control
- 56:39Speaker 3: things totally. I mean, and the more recent help I've
- 56:42Speaker 3: had in my brain. I mean, let's not get too
- 56:46Speaker 3: into the weeds with how horrible it is, but I'm like,
- 56:49Speaker 3: if the worst happens, if this country is so stupid
- 56:52Speaker 3: that they allow Donald Trump to be president again, my
- 56:56Speaker 3: friends will still be my friends, my reality will continued
- 57:00Speaker 3: to exist in some way mm hmm, and then we'll
- 57:03Speaker 3: start from there.
- 57:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not gonna just be obliterated immediately. Your life
- 57:07Speaker 3: will still be your life, and if you live here,
- 57:09Speaker 3: your life will probably still be your life. For the
- 57:11Speaker 3: time being, For the time being, what is your what's
- 57:14Speaker 3: your coping mechanism? Yeah, that's a good question. It's similar.
- 57:18Speaker 4: I usually when I have anxiety, I usually let myself
- 57:22Speaker 4: go like, Okay, you're tremendously anxious, so guess what the
- 57:26Speaker 4: next sixty minutes, free pass. Next sixty minutes, you can
- 57:30Speaker 4: watch YouTube, you can eat chocolate, you can like I
- 57:35Speaker 4: I that really helps me to go free pass. Like
- 57:39Speaker 4: you are, You're just going to be anxious for a
- 57:41Speaker 4: little bit. Nothing's gonna change it. So you're gonna need
- 57:44Speaker 4: to be like really nice to yourself, maybe all day,
- 57:48Speaker 4: but maybe it'll pass in an hour two hours.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Yeah. See, for me, free pass just means free past
- 57:55Speaker 3: to worry about other things.
- 57:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:56Speaker 3: I'm not even able to this point to be like okay,
- 57:58Speaker 3: now I'll just lock onto something I enjoy because the
- 58:01Speaker 3: anxiety is like am I enjoying this? And I'm like, oh,
- 58:02Speaker 3: I've kind of I have to make sure that I'm
- 58:04Speaker 3: enjoying the thing that I allowed myself to enjoy. Inescapable.
- 58:07Speaker 3: It's capable.
- 58:08Speaker 4: Let me ask you this question, how because this is
- 58:11Speaker 4: you talking about your life and life changing and we'll
- 58:14Speaker 4: see how stupid the country is when when someone says
- 58:18Speaker 4: I'm moving to Canada, does that is that triggering for
- 58:24Speaker 4: you in terms of like, and I'm actually almost asking
- 58:27Speaker 4: all your listeners because someone basically was like, that's a
- 58:30Speaker 4: really stupid thing to say because my partner's Japanese, and
- 58:33Speaker 4: lately I've been like, it's fine, I'm moving to Japan right, right,
- 58:36Speaker 4: And people have been bringing to my attention they're like, ah,
- 58:38Speaker 4: that's kind of like a gross, nasty, little privileged thing
- 58:41Speaker 4: to say. Uh huh when you say, like, I'm leaving countries,
- 58:45Speaker 4: what do you think of that?
- 58:46Speaker 3: I don't know that I you know, there's the part
- 58:49Speaker 3: of it where it's like for me when I'll have
- 58:51Speaker 3: those thoughts, it's like, yeah, but I'm in a position.
- 58:54Speaker 3: I'm very fortunate to be in a position where like,
- 58:57Speaker 3: if I stay here, I can at least change things
- 58:59Speaker 3: for the at least in my immediate surroundings for the good.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Try to do good things here rather than just running
- 59:04Speaker 3: away from the problem. But I also am like people
- 59:08Speaker 3: leave their countries for I mean, to come to the
- 59:10Speaker 3: United States because things have gotten so bad in their country,
- 59:12Speaker 3: Like when things get so bad in your country, Yeah,
- 59:16Speaker 3: that's why people become immigrants because they need to get out.
- 59:20Speaker 3: And fortunately this place hasn't become a total health scape.
- 59:24Speaker 3: I mean there's a huge chunk of people that want
- 59:26Speaker 3: it to be that, right, But give them. I mean
- 59:30Speaker 3: like I don't want them to win. I don't want
- 59:32Speaker 3: them more.
- 59:32Speaker 4: I don't want them to win. Yeah, this is a
- 59:35Speaker 4: really good thing because it's like I do not want
- 59:38Speaker 4: them to win. And I mean we're due for some immigration.
- 59:43Speaker 4: It's like, you know, people move to this country roughly
- 59:46Speaker 4: two hundred one hundred years ago depending on when you're talking.
- 59:49Speaker 4: But like for quote unquote a better life. That's not
- 59:53Speaker 4: americacause America doesn't get to own that.
- 59:55Speaker 3: No, no, no no.
- 59:56Speaker 4: If this country gets bad, I get to find another say,
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: oh look there's America.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: There's a better country. America has become the empty lip ball.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: I don't want no scrubs. Yes, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: A scrub is a country who thinks it's fly. It's
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: also known as a fascist place. But as I'm saying,
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: is like why we exercise great personal strength when we're
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: leaving bad relationships? Can't we leave bad countries?
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: And that's where like I guess it gets complicated because
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: it's like there are so many elements of this country
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: that are still good and I don't want the worst
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: of it to I think for me, it's just like
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: a spike thing out of this at this point where
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: I'm like, those people are the worst. No, I'm not
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: letting you run over me. Eventually you might literally run
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: over me, but until that moment, I will be doing
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: everything I can to make your life a living hell. Totally.
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: I think that's also incredibly valid. It's like this place
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: was supposed to be like a promise of a really
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: cool time, everyone being.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: Equal, and now it's getting scary scary. I don't know
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: the answer.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: I'm literally it sounds so weird, but like I want
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: your listeners to chime in and talk to me or
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: you of like, yeah, how socially responsible is it to
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: scream leave this country right? Or is that actually like
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: something only a privileged person says and and something incredibly
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: like politically inactive to say right?
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: And then of course there will be the people who'll
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: be like, well, this country has this problems and the
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: blah blah blah blahlah. No, no country is perfect.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: It's like, of course, Yeah, can you believe I'm inviting
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: podcasts people to scream at me? Inviting them my monos
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: Instagram and you can find me at drag Her podcast
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: available anywhere you find fine pods.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: But yeah, what was the point I was trying to make. Yeah,
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: it's just like every country has its problems, but I
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: feel like America is leading the world in new problems.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Like we've we found the worst version of a president
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: that may be elected again, and he's the devil. He's
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: like not even hiding it from people. He did a
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: horrible job from twenty sixteen to twenty twenty, led us
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: into the worst thing in American history.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: Yeah, or at least modern America. Did edricate us on
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: the problems, knew about the problem.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Kind of just rubbed our face in it.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: He held us to eat bleach. Right, Let's see, he's
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: had classified documents, led a violent insurrection.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: It's the sort of thing where it's just like, what
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: sort of thing don't you like? He will offer it
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: to you. He's done one of the things you don't like.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: Just p it's a buffet of horrible things.
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: And I would also not even say like I remember
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: even as early as two years ago, thinking like the
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: Supreme Court will always be a beacon of objectivity.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: Oh so naive? Ooh, I was so naive.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: I was like, look, everything can be crazy, but those
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: people mean what they.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Say, right, those will be the adult sider.
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: It was wrong.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, it's just I was wrong. It
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: wasn't true. I was wrong. Okay, but I stick around.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Let me stop being a bummer America for a little longer.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: I'll stick around for a little bit more. Hope. There's
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: there's always hope. Have you been to Portland?
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: There's hop. I don't know. I thought Portland was really
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: cute when I went.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: When were you in Portland last?
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: Only only a couple months ago.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: I've heard good things that I haven't been in about
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: fifteen years. I thought it was really really fricking charming.
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: Good food, good queer vibes, kind of an and not
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: like you know, every demographic of queer people. I felt
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: were represented in mixed spaces, which always makes my heart
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: very happy.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Of course. Yeah, good food, not far from nice beaches,
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: nice beaches, male strip clubs, incredible male strip club What
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: more could you ask for?
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: Where the men say, hey, can I take you to
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: the champagne room, which was like have you ever had
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: a hat?
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: I've never been to a male strip club meet. Yeah,
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: this was my first time. But it wasn't just go
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: go boys.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: It was men dancing and then coming to do the
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: fake flirt with you and then saying can I give
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: you a dance?
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: That's an incredible he's kind of interest, very forward thinking.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: It was a little bit of both. It was both
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: like it felt like Disney World because like it was like, well,
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: I I fundamentally understand that you do not want to
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: sleep with me, but it also feels rude to deny
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: that fantasy.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: Right, this is your job exactly, so it's rude for me.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: I'll just say like fuck, you don't fucking want to,
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: It's like I have to. It's like Mickey Mouse, you're
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: looking at the take a picture with Donald Duck Exactly,
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: That's exactly it. You have to take the picture because
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: it's actually like better decorum.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: There's a teen sweating in there.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: Yeah exactly. He's getting man very little slap his package
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: in your face.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: No, Portland seems to be a beacon of hope. No,
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: everywhere has a little pocket of there's people, there's hope,
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: that's hope.
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: That's hope.
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: There's absolutely we can't give up. Can't let Katya Callister
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: run the country? No, no, no, no oh. I think
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: it's the listeners an absolute ball of ang idea at
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: this point. If so, sorry, I don't know how this happens.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: I know the point of this podcast is to always
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: avoid talking about the devil, but you know, times are tough.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: Times are tough, Times are tough. Before I let you go,
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: what's who's your personal devil? Well, we have to play
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: a game. We're gonna we're going to turn this around. Okay, good,
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: I'm ready.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: We're playing Gift to a Curse. I need a number
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: between one and ten from you. Eight. Okay. I have
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: to do some light calculating. I mean, you've already done
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: some disgusting self promotion. But you can continue, you can
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: recommend something, do whatever you want. I'll be right back.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: Okay. I don't know if you'll have heard of this yet,
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: but there's a podcast that talks about drag Race, and
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: since I am doing the Gaylord's work, you might want
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: to hear this podcast. Whether we're talking about drag Race,
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: or whether you're watching drag Race or not. You can
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: tune in because it's always just a good gay time.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: Go listen to drag Her wherever you get podcasts, and
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: you know, I want to hear you chime pipe off
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: in those comments, pipe off on the Apple podcast because
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: whether you like it or hate it, I will read
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: your review on the air. Wow.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it takes a lot of guts.
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: It does its kind of liberating.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: Yeah, like just saying this has no power over me.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really liberating just to read the meanest comment
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: about yourself. It's like hack, unfunny, not interesting, should die?
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: Should die? Thank you? And then it feels also good
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: to just say thank.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Thank you for that, thank you for thinking of me.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: It takes a lot of work to go give it
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: Apple to of course, you've got to have an account,
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: You've got to get this app open. It takes a lot. Yes,
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: you got to think about what you're gonna write. Yes,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: and you know that's what I like. I welcome it.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: And democracy.
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: Everybody register to vote, democracy, register to vote. Your voice
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: is valid, her vote. I'll probably mail in my vote.
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: Feels great.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to mail in my vote for sure.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: Then I don't have to go anywhere on election day.
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: Yeah, can just remain as calm as possible watch Pixar movies.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: Yes, eat cool Whip, I'm not eating it. I'm not
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: a cool whip person.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: Really. I like a real whip cream. Yeah, I agree,
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: But I also like a premium dessert. So I don't
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: know why I am at cool Whip.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Cool Whip has its fans, and I understand what. It's
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: just not my cup of tea.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: Baking with Ish. I'm gonna give a plug to baking.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: This awesome baker in the SGV area who is at
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: Blossom Market Hall, Okay whatever, He's an awesome baker. You
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: can follow his Instagram. He makes really awesome delicious treats.
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: Oh like that have like a lot of times they
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: have like a Filipino fusion twist, but not always. Sometimes
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: it's just like sometimes it'll be like an ube lemon
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: meringue tarts.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: Oh that sounds lovely.
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: Or sometimes it's just the best damn chocolate chip cookie
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: you've ever had. You've got a variety, Yeah, you have
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: a variety. Baking with Ish, Baking with Ish, everybody baking
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: with Dish.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: Go there, go there, I'm gonna go there. What can
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: I recommend Cassandra Jenkins. You know who this is. She
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: has a new album. Oh, everybody go look up Cassandra Jenks.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: She's unbelievable. You would like her, Okay, it'd be into
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: her for sure. Okay, here's my trash recommendation. Do you
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: like the new Kesha song joy Ride?
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: Haven't heard it yet? Okay, should probably listen to it?
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: You should.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: It feels like gain is Okay, you know what I mean? Right,
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: of course it's good. It's insane, but it's also good. Okay.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: It's up against the Katie Perry thing that everybody immediately
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: was like.
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: No, hilarious.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: I call her pop Karen.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: Um. She is problematic, she's not in control. He makes
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: it very clear what she's about. Wow, Katie, Katie pop Karen. Okay,
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: this is how we play gift to a curse. Okay,
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: I'm gonna name three things, so you're gonna tell me
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: if there are a gift or a curse and why? Okay,
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: and then I'll tell you if you're right or wrong,
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: because there are correct answers.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: You can be wrong. I fail. Oh, boundaries, boundaries were
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: setting clear boundaries for you to succeed or fail, and
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: it will be entirely your fault if you fail.
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: I accept this.
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: My hands are clean.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: I accept this.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Okay, First stup, This is from a listener named Jessica
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Gift or a curse moody slashed slow down covers of
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: pop hits.
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: Wow, curse.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: Why this was?
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: I was torn because I've certainly enjoyed some of these,
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, it's a curse
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: because this is a plague upon new pop music. Like
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: it's like we're so music is like music is suffering
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: right now, Like everything is so derivative of sampling and
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: the nineties. It's like there's no new music. So at
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: the end of the day, I have to say, curse. Okay,
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: what do you think? What was the correct answer?
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: You're correct? Oh, the dumbest thing you could possibly do.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: If you need something moody or slow, pick one of
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: a billion other songs.
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: Yeah, remember when every horror movie did it for their trailer.
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: It's so ridiculous.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: Yeah, there's like a choir of children singing the song, Yes,
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: acquiring Children.
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say, or a slowed down version
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: of a Gautier's Now you're just somebody that I used.
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: To know, do you know what I want to hear
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: slowed down in moody is uh, what's that song Blue Babadida?
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: Hell yeah, what's that one? Apost sixty five is Blu
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: Dabadi dabad If you slowed that down from their hit
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: album Europop, put that over a horror trailer now that
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I'm on board with, Yes, you gotta pick the right
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: upbeat number. It would be about vampire people or would it
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: be about aliens, maybe corpses rising up the blue corpses
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: of maybe they're from the ocean, their frozen.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: Come on, it writes itself, that's hot. Okay, until that
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: has been done, it's it's a curse. But I mean
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: the genre is could turn things around. So hopefully there's
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: some trailer editor somewhere listening thinking I've got my song. Okay, okay,
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: so you've gotten one right so far, that's very good.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: Number two This is from someone named Robert Gift her
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: a curse Audience Q and a's curse.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: Why I one time saw an audience Q and A
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: with the very, the very genius Amy Sedaris. Oh and
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: you know Amy Sidarius. Unfortunately is her her Her fans
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: run the gamut, and some of her fans suck. And
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: I was at one such Q and A where people
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: kept asking weirdo questions like one person and she's asking,
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: she's answering thoughtful questions about her childhood, her brother, her
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: relationship to comedy, and people kept raising their hands. One
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: guy in particular, I'll never forget, raised his hand to ask, uh, Jerry.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: Said, Jerry or Amy whatever.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: But he was like, how do you spell fandango?
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: How do you spell victory?
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: No? And she was like what He was.
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: Like, victory? How do you spell victory? Oh my god?
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: And she was like, oh, oh, fandango, fandango. And then
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: he was like, oh, so that would be mortified.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: I wouldn't be able to leave my seat. I would
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: just be ash. The secondhand embarrassment for that person that
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: is mortifying.
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: It was awful. So that's when I and you, literally
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: just you saying that went took me back.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: To that moment and you took me there. I took it.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: That's why I think it's a curse. Oh that poor woman. Yeah,
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: to be hounded by that sort of person, that.
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: Kind of person who is just like, I'm actually being
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: a real person and talking to you can Yeah, I
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: get it.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: I said my TV show. Yeah, so humiliating. I mean, look,
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: I've given it the answer away. Yeah, they're the worst
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: thing in the world.
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: All.
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: I don't care if it's the creator of the universe.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: I don't want to be stuck in an audience where
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: strangers are going to have a microphone. No, I've never
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: enjoyed one. It always goes way longer. There's always the
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: ten second pause where it feels like we get to
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: go home, yeah, and then somebody traps you again.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: Yep. Yes. Also someone recently with Elizabeth Berkeley at the
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: Academy Museum, huh, because they were showing show growth at
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: the Academy Museum. Guess what that also attracted shock the
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: unique people.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: There's always someone trying to prove something that they know
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: about the person exactly. It's rarely like an intelligent, interesting
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: question that you'll get a good answer. There's nothing good
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: about them. I wasn't one recently, kind of against my will,
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: so that's even worse. Yeah, but there were no questions
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: being asked because no one was interested in what was
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: being shown, and it felt like we were going to
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: get to go home, and then the creator said, come on,
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: ask some questions. If you have to say that to
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: an audience a few, that's a pretty clear sign that
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: no one is interested in asking questions. Oh, agony, absolute hell.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: Like the creator last I'm sure I didn't like him
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: to begin with. I was there against my will, amen,
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: and I really sealed the deal on this person.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: Can't wait to hear this is lat But yeah, audience
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: Q and A is nothing good comes from them except
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: for an extended period of time after whatever you just enjoyed.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: It's like watching two people masturbate. Yes, you're watching the
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: question ask for masturbate. You're watching the man answering the
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: question masturbate.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: No, it's like watching the person on stage get trapped
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: in an alley and with the person masturbating.
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: Yeah. Awful, awful, horrible experience, disgusting, vile piece of human culture.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Okay, so you've gotten too right. That's very nice. Yes, okay.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: Final one This is from someone named John Gift to
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: a curse when someone uses your driveway to back up
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: and turn around because they got lost. I really like
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: that suggestion. A.
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: I mean, we were talking about the strangers today. I'm
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: gonna I'm just my gut says curse. I don't see
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: how it could be a gift. I mean those again,
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: those ten seconds of anxiety is no, I'm so sorry,
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: but it's a curse.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: Oh mono, Oh what a shame to see you fall
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: on your face in the final it's a gift, Tell
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: me more gift. You get to do a little piece
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: of you know, charity work with nowhere you don't have
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: to lift a finger. Oh, my driveway is your driveway.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: That's really baseline. We get that. Remember, you get a
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: little maybe you do get spooked. An old pickup truck
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: rambles into the backyard. You're like, what's gonna coming? What
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: is happening? Why are they backing in? What do they
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: have planned?
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: Your heart is pounding, your sweating, you're watching.
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: Just you and let me get this right. They're backing
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: in or going forward because one is scarier.
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: Well, it seems like they can do well. This is
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: specifically uses your driveway to back up and turn around.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Even scarier.
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: Even scarier if someone was going into my driveway butt first,
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: as if they're ready to load the cargo bay of
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: their truck with my body, that's even scarier. But I
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: accept that I'm wrong. I do accept that.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a I mean, there's no question that it's
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: a gift, and for you to just kind of stupidly
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: say that it's a curse is embarrassing. Yeah, we can't
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: edit that, Aisle. It's now part of the public record.
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: And yeah, unfortunately, now you're kind of solely as a podcaster. Yeah,
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: that's people can't trust you anymore.
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: Before this, everyone was tuning in subscribing to drag her,
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: and now they're like, wait a second, this guy's a
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: fucking moron.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: I've been duped.
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: Well, you got two out of three. I feel good
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: about that. Not too bad, No, I feel great about that. Well, look,
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: don't run away like that. You're like, it's sixty six percent.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: It's a failing.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: Yeah. This is the final segment of the podcast. It's
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: called I Said no emails. People write into I Said
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: no gifts at gmail dot com. Okay, every one of
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: them is just howling and begging for answers about something
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: in their life. Will you help me answer a question?
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: Absolutely, one of these banshees. Let's let's let's let's silence
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: one of these creatures.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: Okay, let's get into the dog here. Okay, this is dear,
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: completely correct oh this is nice, dear, completely correct bridger
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: and always entertaining guests. That's for debate, but I don't
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: know about today. Let me start by saying, I try
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: to respect other people's time and apologize for taking up
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: your valuable time with this dilemma. Wow, just immediately apologizing, Yeah,
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: I appreciate it. My problem is I am always vexed
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: with someone when someone calls without texting first, many friends parentheses.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: Most x mostly ex friends now only call when it's
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: convenient for them while walking the dog, standing in lines,
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: or when needing something. I respond by always being respectful
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: of their time and texting first to ask if this
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: is a good time to call. I can always ditch
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: disrespectful friends, but it's harder to ditch a sibling. Over
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: the years, my sister continues to call only when it
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: suits her schedule, when driving in cars, waiting in the
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: Starbucks lines, or hauling multiple horses on a busy. For you,
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: we'll have to take a look at whatever that means.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: Of course, I have asked her to text first before calling,
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: but she is somewhat adhd and never really listens. My
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: question is this, Do I let go of this generalized
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: annoyance and wrath or is my rage justified such a
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: big fan and always listening Lisa from Seattle or maybe
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: Liza from Seattle. I think those are the two options.
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: With an l I Z A l I. I guess
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: it might be Liza, Liza with a Z, Liza Liza Losa,
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: Laza Lazza.
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: And sometimes Liza with a Y. I really think it's
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: okay to call.
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: You think it's okay to call without a text?
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: Okay, here's my I think there are two etiquette rules
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: in the year of twenty twenty four, text before you
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: call or text after you call? Oh?
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: Interesting? And what is the after call? Text?
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: If you do if you call them they don't answer,
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: go hey, no big deal, but call me back. I
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: just wanted to catch up, okay, So that then sets
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: an expectation for the person just called, so they're not
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: on edge of like, oh, fox, someone just called me.
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: Right, what's the emergency? Right?
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: Who's hurt? I think both were call text before or
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: text after in the year of twenty twenty four.
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: Okay, interesting, and you know I think no text is
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: needed okay for me? If someone texts can I call you?
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: It actually makes the call seem more serious.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: I agree.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: Actually, then there's like, oh god, what do they have
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: to talk about? Yeah, awful feeling. Yeah, I would rather
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: just give me a buzz I'll answer or not leave
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: a voicemail, feel free, text after, do whatever you want,
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: don't leave just a mist call. Texting after is good,
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: voicemail is good, But to text beforehand. I'm not on
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: your side at all. Lisa, Liza Lisa. I think this
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: person is actively trying to remove friends from her life.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: She's deeply unpopular. Now she's going to lose a sibling
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: who she's diagnosed with ADHD on a podcast, which to
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: me is I mean, it's such a line cross. It
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: seems like, I mean, what is Liza Lisa doing that's
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: so important that she can't just get a call?
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: I have to agree. I have to agree you can
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: get a call.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: Appreciate that there's somebody out there with your phone number.
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: I wonder what their age is, because I think that,
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: you know, obviously the younger and the younger. Younger and
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: younger people find calls more and more obtrusive.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: You think, so, I feel like there's a turnaround happening.
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: Maybe maybe, But I mean, I'll be honest. I still
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: when I get a call like I usually get excitement
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: unless I it is one of the two, excitement or dread,
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: not right in the middle.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: That's kind of how I live my life at this point,
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: checking the absolute best thing to happen or the absolute worst.
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: Not able to moderate my feelings in any way. Absolutely, Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: I can't.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: I can't. I'm unreliable, I'm topsy turvy. But okay, I
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: think we can both agree. Text after a call is nice.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: Yes, leave a text or send a Do you like
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: a voice note? Voice message?
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: I would love that.
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: I love those.
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: A voice memo is even better than a voicemail. We
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: can agree on that.
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: Oh that's what I was talking about. H Yeah, I
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: think that's kind of the future. Yeah, just send your thoughts,
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: record your miniature podcast for whoever.
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: Why and that that you just yeah, because voicemails are
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: more aggressive than voice memos.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: Right, because the voicemail feels like, oh, you've wounded me
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: and now I'm going to leave you with something, whereas
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: the voice memo is I'm just thinking of you. I'm
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: sending you, yes a message. Maybe I'm driving a little gift, right,
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: maybe you know, they're more entertaining. Yeah, gotta keep the
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: time limit down.
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: I agree.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: So just call or call then text yes, or send
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: several angry voice memos that too, one after another. Don't
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: complete thoughts, just keep recording and sending.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: Mid scream, ending a voicemament mid scream is great. You what,
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: That's fantastic if you can.
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: Do that, Lise, Eliza, I think you've got your answer there.
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: Take some phone calls, enjoy the spontaneity of just your
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: phone ringing, see what's on the other end, even if
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: they're just using you emotionally.
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: Absolutely, you can be used. My God, be glad that
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: anyone's calling you.
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: You could be very lonely.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: You could be very lonely.
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: You could, you know what, Liza, don't write back, man, No,
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: I've had such a wonderful time, man, I mean, despite
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: being given to trick lipsticks absolutely worthless to you, to
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: kind of just empty little boxes.
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: I do hope you'll throw them away.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: They will not be thrown away. Oh, these will be kept,
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: to be kept and to be displayed.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: That's very kind of you to say. But it's okay
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: if you change your mind.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: I won't. I mean, there's a chance at a live show.
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: At some point I give one to an audience member.
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: But you know this could have a utility and being
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: a container.
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: You know there are women who want to make their
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: own lipsticks oh interesting and put them in cases.
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: Maybe that's what I do my pivot. That's what this
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: is to lipstick manufacturing.
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: It's really funny. No, it's been such a damn tree.
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: Thank you so much for.
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: Having Thank you for being here, listener. Podcast is over.
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: I hope you've been able to just pull yourself together.
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: I know that we've been had some real lows on
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: this episode talking about the world. But everything's fine. The
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: podcast is over. Try to remain calm. We're all trying
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: to remain calm. I love you, goodbye. I said, No
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: Gifts is an exactly right production produce by our dear
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: friend Analise Nelson, and it's beautifully mixed by Ben Holliday.
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: And we couldn't do it without our guest booker, Patrick Coottner.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: The theme song, of course, could only come from miracle
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: worker Amy Mann. You must follow the show on Instagram.
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: At I said no Gifts, I don't want to hear
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: any excuses. That's where you get to see pictures of
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: all these gorgeous gifts I'm getting, And don't you want
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: to see pictures of the gifts? And I invited you, hear.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Funa man myself perfectly clear. When you're a guest to me,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: you gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guests,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: your presences presents enough and I'm already too much stuff.
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: So how do you dare to survey me? The n
