- 0:08Hey, welcome to another exciting episode of Two Shot Tuesday.
- 0:11Hardly feels like 7 days past Barry.
- 0:14It feels more like 2 days have passed, maybe 3.
- 0:17That's just how good it is when we get together.
- 0:19Yeah, three at the most. At the absolute most, in fact,
- 0:23let's just come clean. We're recording this a few days
- 0:26early, and this ties into something I wanted to touch on.
- 0:29You're not aware that I wanted to touch on this.
- 0:30It's because I think some of our listeners and viewers might be
- 0:35suffer from the some of the same affliction is, shall we call it,
- 0:38absolute terror of technology. And so we're getting ahead of
- 0:41that. Barry, how would you describe
- 0:43your absolute terror of technology?
- 0:46Am I describing it correctly? I think you're using a little
- 0:49bit of hyperbole. I'm not terrified of technology.
- 0:52I embrace. It do you OK, Because I know we
- 0:55wanted to get this in because there's a certain computer you'd
- 0:58like to use, and this is the one that we're using.
- 1:01And executive producer Linda Lebrun will be stepping away
- 1:04with said computer, which would put you onto a different
- 1:07technology. And that has caused some angst.
- 1:11Let's let's dig deep into that. Yeah, it's true.
- 1:13Well, when you have an older machine that's not being afraid
- 1:16of technology, that's like not wanting to go back in time for
- 1:20something that is much just sluggish.
- 1:22It's not a good machine, you know.
- 1:24I want to get deeper into this first though.
- 1:26We have a format on the show and that is to do shot #1.
- 1:29What have you got for us today? Well, I'm doing a sober show,
- 1:32Jay, because I just finished, as you can tell from my sweaty
- 1:34appearance. Pardon me.
- 1:36I just finished a massive session with Andre.
- 1:39Friend of the show. Friend of ours.
- 1:41Yeah. So I'm keeping it clean with
- 1:43just some nail gene water my friend.
- 1:45Wonderful, what about you? In total support of you, I am
- 1:49keeping it clean as well with water in a glass.
- 1:52Classy. Cheers.
- 1:56Let's dig into this technology a little bit because I think
- 1:59that's really important for us. As you know, technology is
- 2:01changing all around us. AI has become a fixture now in
- 2:06our society. And so I want to hear your
- 2:09story. So what kind of technologies are
- 2:11we talking about? Is this like a Mac to PC?
- 2:13What? What are you working with over
- 2:14there? It's a it's all PC, but it's
- 2:17just an old machine, so that's why I don't want to use it, Jay.
- 2:20And we used. To nor would I expect you to
- 2:22just like use a machine from say 7 to 10 years ago.
- 2:25You'd be like. I don't want to use that.
- 2:26Was it that old? It's 7 to 10 years old, yeah.
- 2:29What's he been doing around The Newsroom?
- 2:30Well. That's what I'm saying.
- 2:31It just is sitting dormant and then to plug it back in after
- 2:34sitting around dormant is probably not the move.
- 2:37I tried that last time and you may remember on a on a previous
- 2:40episode and it was disastrous. Was that wasn't good the.
- 2:44Infamous, we didn't get the sound in and yeah, OK, so now I
- 2:48see. The bottom of the sea.
- 2:49Yeah, now I see where this is coming from.
- 2:51OK, Yeah. It's never does produce a bit of
- 2:54anxiety. I wouldn't call it crushing
- 2:56fear, but I would call it, I don't want to do that, you know
- 2:59what I mean? So yeah, it's not like sound
- 3:02planning. I just really.
- 3:04Yeah, it's more sound planning on your part.
- 3:06So we are coming a few days a little bit ahead of a Tuesday,
- 3:09which is always exciting. It's exciting for a catch up to
- 3:12host A2 Shot Tuesday not being recorded on a Tuesday, but of
- 3:15course being released on a Tuesday.
- 3:17So our audience is well receiving this right when they
- 3:20should. Yep.
- 3:21Hey Barry, anything that you wanted to talk about before we
- 3:24dive into a heavy ripped from the headlines?
- 3:27Yeah. So, well, we can do a progress
- 3:29report on a little thing that we like to call around the two Shot
- 3:32studios. Jack Summer #26 OK, how's it
- 3:36going for you? I know where I'm at.
- 3:38How you feeling about Jack Summer 26?
- 3:40I'm wearing a thick sweater that should tell you right where I'm
- 3:43at. I'm wearing a nice thick grandpa
- 3:45laden sweaters. But that could just be it's
- 3:47chilly in the mini mansion. It is chilly in the mini
- 3:50mansion. Yeah, So.
- 3:51So nowhere near as far along as you.
- 3:54But your passion for the pump, shall we say?
- 3:57Yes, far exceeds my own. I do my part to kind of keep
- 4:01going and keep fit. But I would not, I would not
- 4:04describe my passion as deep as yours.
- 4:07What did you do today to help move you incrementally, further
- 4:11perhaps and leaps and bounds towards Jack Summer?
- 4:13And so, well, all of these are incremental gains when you stack
- 4:17them up over years. But today was a little bit of
- 4:19yoke training and that's this area right along here is the
- 4:22yoke. So you, you want to get that a
- 4:24little bit bigger. It makes T-shirts look better,
- 4:26just makes every piece of clothing that you pop on look
- 4:29better. Yeah, it's shoulders this area
- 4:32that the the traps and the rear delts that is a particular focus
- 4:37of mine for 26. Why?
- 4:38What made you think of that? Is it just next on the agenda?
- 4:42It's just, it's not just aesthetic, but it's also just
- 4:45like, well, it's mostly aesthetic, but I was going.
- 4:47To say in case you have to lift a horse or something.
- 4:50How many fire? How many?
- 4:52Yeah. What do they call those farmer
- 4:53carries am I doing? Not that many.
- 4:55But, you know, I do carry cases of beer home from the from the
- 4:58LCBO, and that's 600 meters, Jay.
- 5:00And I usually carry a 24, so I don't know how much that weighs,
- 5:04but it's whatever I need to have a strong yoke.
- 5:06Yeah, you do. You need a strong yoke.
- 5:09So what are your you go to exercises to get that, to get
- 5:12those traps where you want? To tonight we were doing some
- 5:15shrugs. So you take a dumbbell in each
- 5:17hand, a heavy dumbbell. You just, it's just a simple
- 5:19movement up and down. You're not really doing anything
- 5:21more than that Lateral raises, you know that one, the straight
- 5:24arm out with a lighter weight of course.
- 5:26And then some reverse kickbacks, which is you are bended forward.
- 5:30You have a dumbbell in each hand and you just your arm like this
- 5:35out that way. I can't see me.
- 5:38But it's hard. It's hard to do this little
- 5:39square that I have to show you anyway.
- 5:41You're you're bent over and you're exactly and you're just,
- 5:46it's more, it's kind of a tricep, but you're also hitting
- 5:47the rear delt. And so that's all part of the
- 5:50the yoke chain, as as Andre likes to call it.
- 5:53There you go, there's the passion you've got for it.
- 5:55Perfect. It's cool.
- 5:56Nice. Yeah.
- 5:57These are the things I never thought of when I was not in
- 5:59shape. But when you, when you get to a
- 6:00certain point, you're like, what else can I work on?
- 6:02Because there's always things to work on.
- 6:04As we have discussed many times on the show, there is no end to
- 6:07it. There's no finish line.
- 6:09The finish line is when you pass away.
- 6:11That's when it's over. But until then, keep going.
- 6:13I love it yeah, inspiration, okay.
- 6:16I'm ready. I am looking forward to our
- 6:18long-awaited, hotly anticipated coming sometime this summer.
- 6:22We don't know when, but sometime this summer you, me and our
- 6:25executive producers are going to be spending a day at a pool.
- 6:29Okay, you seem very determined that that be the location.
- 6:33Just us together is not enough. It has to be by a pool, it has
- 6:37to be at a place, right. Perhaps my body image is not as
- 6:41comfortable, but you are insisting on taking me out of a
- 6:44comfort zone and putting me in an uncomfortable position.
- 6:47That's. Fine, I'm not insisting.
- 6:49I'm just. It might be insistent,
- 6:51enthusiastically encouraging. That's insisting.
- 6:54That's actually. When you can condense that, it
- 6:57becomes insisting. And shit, well, you know, what
- 7:00you wear to the pool is entirely up to you.
- 7:02If you decide to wear the grandpa sweater, it's completely
- 7:04that that's that's your call. You can do whatever you want.
- 7:08It's not about nudity. It's about just enjoying the the
- 7:11rays of as we know in this country, summer is so short,
- 7:15Jay, and some of it really should be spent poolside anyway.
- 7:18OK, yeah, let's move on with the.
- 7:21The same sun, the rays reach you just about anywhere.
- 7:23But that's fine. I hear you, I hear you on that.
- 7:26We'll have plenty to discuss, perhaps on an upcoming episode.
- 7:29Let's air our dirty laundry right in front of the audience.
- 7:32It's wonderful, I love it. Our fans, Hey, why don't we do
- 7:35shot #2 and then we've got some RIP from the headlines that we
- 7:37need to get to that are begging us to get to.
- 7:40So I know you're drinking, but why don't you let our fans know?
- 7:43This is all about hydration after a serious workout.
- 7:46Yeah, so the cold water from an LG bottle is what I'll be
- 7:50sucking on right now. Jay, what about yourself?
- 7:53Water from a glass. Keeping it classy.
- 7:55Cheers. Cheers.
- 7:58So you got some headlines. Yeah, you sent them over.
- 8:01I have not looked at them yet. So I'm going to open my phone.
- 8:04I'm going to go to my text based message app and I'm going to
- 8:07open the one from you and I'm going to scroll back and I see a
- 8:10few here. I'm going to scroll up and down.
- 8:12I'm not even looking. And now I'm going to look.
- 8:13I'm going to pick #3 Hey, Barry, Inside the world's best airport.
- 8:18Yeah. Why does Changi keep winning?
- 8:21Changi. Changi.
- 8:23Yeah, in Singapore. In Singapore.
- 8:25OK, Well, why does it keep winning, do you think?
- 8:28Well, I did go a touch beyond the headline just to see a
- 8:31picture of the interior. It looked like a crazy atrium
- 8:35filled with lush plants. So it looked like something that
- 8:37of a like a Jurassic Park exhibit.
- 8:41Yeah, I see it there from just what you sent me.
- 8:42So I will share that with anybody who's got YouTube.
- 8:44You can have a look at it there. Yeah, it does.
- 8:47This is like an outdoor adventure indoors.
- 8:49And this is the airport in Singapore.
- 8:52Yeah, pretty classy. And you were just in, you know,
- 8:55developed Asia. Do they have anything like that
- 8:57at the in Japan? No, I was at the older airport.
- 9:01The neuron. Why am I forgetting it?
- 9:03It starts with an N as opposed to Haneda.
- 9:06Haneda is the newer airport. I was there last time.
- 9:08Yeah, it's a fine airport, but you wouldn't get it confused
- 9:11with anything other than what it is.
- 9:13An airport. It's exactly how you would
- 9:15imagine an airport. They all seem to have that exact
- 9:18same feel no matter where you go, except apparently in
- 9:21Shanghai. Yeah, it's not Shanghai that's
- 9:26in China, but I hear you. It's.
- 9:28Sorry, where is it? Where is this?
- 9:30It's in Singapore. Singapore.
- 9:31Sorry. Yeah.
- 9:32Changji. Changji.
- 9:33Is that what it's called? OK.
- 9:34I think so. I think you're right there.
- 9:37Sounds right. So how about you?
- 9:39What would be your favorite? What's What's the one thing
- 9:41missing from most airports that you would love to see?
- 9:44I would like to see exactly what I saw in that picture, which is
- 9:47some likes greenery versus just depressing fluorescent lighting
- 9:51and sad looking shops and just people mostly like, I don't know
- 9:56whether you noticed this, but a lot of airports are just filled
- 9:58with people that are just they don't look very happy.
- 10:00And maybe part of it is just because it's just like a not a
- 10:03nice. It's like a like, it's like a
- 10:04bus terminal. Nobody wants to hang out in the
- 10:06bus terminal. It's, but in Singapore, look at
- 10:09they actually made some kind of effort to, you know, have the
- 10:12guests that are flying through to feel like, hey, this is kind
- 10:14of kind of cool. And Singapore's they're big on
- 10:17innovation. And they also built like this
- 10:19crazy building that looks like a, it has like a plane on top of
- 10:22it. It's wild.
- 10:23Like they they're they're known for innovation.
- 10:25And it's kind of like you've already arrived at your
- 10:27destination by giving you that kind of thing.
- 10:29It's like you're already there. Yeah, it's kind of cool.
- 10:33I think I would like to see in an airport and maybe they have
- 10:35it, this there is like other activities that are free of
- 10:38charge, like some kind of big screen, you know, big
- 10:41interactive screen where you can kind of play video games or like
- 10:44even like, I don't know, ping pong tables.
- 10:46Just like fun things you can do. Because it seems like when
- 10:49you're at the airport, you're just sitting, you're waiting and
- 10:51you're buying and it's overpriced.
- 10:53No matter where you go, everything is overpriced.
- 10:55Just feels you're getting ripped off and you're delayed.
- 10:58So you're forced to be ripped off even more.
- 11:00Even the lounges are demands. Yeah, lounges, they're kind of
- 11:04you got your little buffet and like it's nice to kind of be
- 11:06wait. But I'm with you.
- 11:07The airport experience is not a great experience.
- 11:10It's not. Maybe you and I should go to
- 11:12Changi and we can compare. Like we'll just fly in.
- 11:15Yep, walk among the trees and then fly back.
- 11:18Fly home immediately. Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 11:20What? Do you think?
- 11:21It's not a bad idea. OK, well, did we get to the
- 11:24bottom of that one? I think we did.
- 11:26I think enough that we can move on, I think, to our next
- 11:29headline. Anyone in particular if you say
- 11:31I there's 1-2 and four rest available which is a 1/2 or 4.
- 11:35How about 1-1? All right.
- 11:37Let's do it, OK, Meet the 19 meter octopus that may have
- 11:41prowled. Ancient seas.
- 11:43Now this is kind of cool. Yeah, you.
- 11:45Didn't go behind that beyond the headline on this one, I hope.
- 11:47I didn't OK, because I think it all, it says it all in that in
- 11:50the whatever the headline, it's not the tagline headline.
- 11:53Headline ripped from the headlines.
- 11:55That's the name of the segment. It says it says it all.
- 11:58So he may have prowled the ancient seas.
- 12:00This one in particular, I wonder.
- 12:01Or perhaps this is the offspring of the lineage of this 19 meter
- 12:06octopus. Well, I wonder if, like, this is
- 12:08where the story of the Kraken came from, you know, so people
- 12:11from back in the day, maybe there were because there wasn't.
- 12:14I mean, mankind wasn't dominating the planet the way
- 12:17they are today. And so there might have been
- 12:20creatures that would have been able to grow to crazy sizes
- 12:24undisturbed maybe, right? Could be.
- 12:26Yeah, exactly. So maybe that's where that
- 12:28legend came from. I wonder why he was just
- 12:30discovered recently. Like we seem to have mapped a
- 12:33bunch of the sea floor, like, yeah.
- 12:35But I think those guys, like they're, they're known also to
- 12:38be highly intelligent. Really.
- 12:39Those. Yeah, the octopus.
- 12:41And why did you say that? Well, I read another headline.
- 12:44This is a separate thing, but they was somewhere in Asia.
- 12:47They, they wanted, there was some outcry about having octopus
- 12:50farming because they're thought of as intelligent creatures and
- 12:53so they let people were saying you can't just keep them penned
- 12:56up and then eat them so. But did they?
- 12:58Is there anything that you've witnessed or read about like
- 13:00specifically? I've never.
- 13:01Actually seen one, thankfully. They're kind of creepy, but they
- 13:05are cool as hell. Some of them can change color at
- 13:07will. You know they can whatever.
- 13:09They don't have any bones, right?
- 13:10So they can get down and they can squeeze through little
- 13:13openings and whatever. It's wild.
- 13:15OK, so you haven't you're like personally haven't heard of
- 13:18anything that would say they're intelligent.
- 13:20I've witnessed it. I I've.
- 13:21I've not witnessed. Math but I've they've operated a
- 13:24complex farm equipment. OK, good.
- 13:27You believe what you're reading. They've driven cars.
- 13:29Yeah, they're they're great parallel parkers, That's one
- 13:32thing. They would be, I think, because
- 13:34they've got the 8 legs. So I think the sensing and then
- 13:37they could spit ink at you. I think that's that's kind of
- 13:40cool. It's a good disc that they got.
- 13:42Yeah, which I think is nice, I think.
- 13:43What about you? Have you ever had any up close
- 13:45and personal experiences with the octopi?
- 13:47I did not. But I will tell you one time,
- 13:49similar experience, at least in my mind, as a youngster, I was
- 13:53in Florida. I was probably 10 years old.
- 13:54I was with my parents and I went into the ocean and I vividly
- 13:58remember screaming jellyfish has got me, a jellyfish has got me,
- 14:01a jellyfish has got me. And I went running, screaming
- 14:03out of the water and it was a leaf.
- 14:06There was a leaf on my leg, just a leaf, like one of those
- 14:09floating leaf or or. Yeah.
- 14:11So I remember my father. She just started to like, you
- 14:14can be quiet now. Like, yeah, she was.
- 14:16They rescued me from the leaf. But I was, I don't know why I
- 14:18was so terrified. I was always very terrified of
- 14:21these. I saw Jaws at a young age.
- 14:23Yeah, and. You know, that ruined the ocean
- 14:26for everybody. Like just hearing about Jaws,
- 14:28just seeing the poster feels like I may not have even seen
- 14:30the movie, but I saw the poster of that shark coming up and, and
- 14:34she's on the paddle there. She's swimming, rather the woman
- 14:37swimming, Yeah. Yeah, there is something scary
- 14:40about not knowing what's underneath.
- 14:41The water it really is to this day.
- 14:44Could you even go into the ocean and swim without just thinking
- 14:47about Jaws? I like to go into the ocean.
- 14:49I don't swim in the ocean. I go about maybe waisted deep.
- 14:53I just like to play in the surf, you know, I like to jump into
- 14:56the into the waves, but I don't swim.
- 14:58There's no going dunking my head under and working on the
- 15:01backstroke. Now there's none of that.
- 15:03Do you not like to swim? Do you not swim or?
- 15:06I can swim. Yeah.
- 15:08But it's not the same thing. I just don't like the salt
- 15:10water. It's it's nice to to play around
- 15:12in and you know, if I'm in the in the water, it's kind of like
- 15:16fun just to sort of move with the waves.
- 15:18But I don't like going out too far because I also think about
- 15:21that something, something like grabbing onto your leg or
- 15:23whatever, I don't know. It's creepy.
- 15:25No, I'm with you. I have gone swimming, but I'm
- 15:27like, you're always thinking about it.
- 15:29Especially there have been times when I kind of gone swimming and
- 15:31then like I'm like, oh, I'm out here by myself kind of away from
- 15:35the pack and then you gotta make your way in.
- 15:37Cuz yeah. Anything.
- 15:39Even even in the lakes, I would think of Jaws being there, even
- 15:41though I know it's completely impossible.
- 15:43It's always up to you never know what's below there.
- 15:46There's a lot below the surface. There is.
- 15:49I think we're just, we're just scratching the surface of, of
- 15:52this. I also remember being in like in
- 15:55Mexico and like Cancun and stuff and when I was younger, like
- 15:58going out of those really strong waves and they would come like
- 16:00they would like pick you up and slam you down.
- 16:02Like there were a few times I would be being slammed.
- 16:05I don't think I would like that anymore.
- 16:06I don't think I'm as bendy as I was.
- 16:08And Yep, there's just, there's a certain, I think I'm just at
- 16:12that age where I'm not so excited about like great, like
- 16:15those crazy waves that sucked you back in when you're trying
- 16:17to get out of the water. Yeah, the undertow, yeah.
- 16:19What are you? What are your thoughts on that?
- 16:21I'm with you. When I was in Florida in
- 16:23February, there was a couple of times where like I got, I mean,
- 16:27I was also consuming alcohol on the beach, right?
- 16:30Which I highly recommend, by the way.
- 16:31It's a lot of fun. It's makes the beach a lot more
- 16:33enjoyable. But when you're going into the
- 16:35water, even though I wasn't going out very far, you're kind
- 16:38of farting around in the waves, but then you kind of turn your
- 16:41back and then one hits you. And there was a couple of times
- 16:43where I actually got bowled over and trying to get up when you're
- 16:47like in a seated position, your ass is touching sand and you're
- 16:51not deep, like you're not deep at all.
- 16:53But then the, the waves just continue to roll on you.
- 16:55It's like, and it hits you in the face and you're like, fuck,
- 16:59you eventually get up. But it's, it's a little
- 17:02embarrassing. And I'm like, I'm not small.
- 17:04I'm like, you know, over 200 lbs.
- 17:05But it, the wave doesn't, it didn't matter you you still get
- 17:08thrown to the, to the ground with equal force.
- 17:11So I was like, yeah, you can't mess around with Mother Ocean.
- 17:14That's true. One time I remember being stuck
- 17:15kind of in the middle and I wasn't far from the from the
- 17:18bottom, but you couldn't see and I remember going, I don't know
- 17:21which way to swim. I don't know which way up is.
- 17:23And then I immediately put my foot down like the ground.
- 17:26I was like, oh, OK, I'm that close.
- 17:28I was for a second because I was floating.
- 17:29I was like, which way is up? And then I discovered it.
- 17:33Yeah, it can be deceiving, but in Fort Lauderdale, like the the
- 17:36beach is like the it's not very deep.
- 17:38Like, you can actually walk out of a fair distance without
- 17:41feeling like you're going to get swept away.
- 17:44Nice. Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
- 17:46That's great. All right.
- 17:47Well, we've talked technology, we've talked airports, travel,
- 17:51we've talked being on the beach, being in the water.
- 17:53I think that's a complete show, isn't it?
- 17:54Feels like a complete show. I don't think there's any
- 17:57possible way we could shoehorn anything else in, and nor should
- 18:00we because let's not be greedy. That is amazing, Jay.
