- 2:29Speaker 2: to the conservation organization of the winners choosing and for
- 2:33Speaker 2: the stat of the Week this week, we're looking at
- 2:35Speaker 2: what might be my favorite stat yet. Here it is
- 2:38Speaker 2: we are going to donate one dollar from every board
- 2:41Speaker 2: game sale to conservation projects. That means that your purchase
- 2:45Speaker 2: of Meat Eater Trivia will help fund things like land
- 2:48Speaker 2: access and wildlife habitat. We wanted to make sure that
- 2:51Speaker 2: the product lived up to its name. Is the only
- 2:53Speaker 2: board game where conservation always wins, and this is how
- 2:56Speaker 2: we're doing it. By the end of the year, between
- 2:58Speaker 2: the donations made on the show and the donations made
- 3:01Speaker 2: through board game sales, will have given nearly fifty thousand
- 3:04Speaker 2: dollars to projects that benefit hunters, anglers, and wildlife. So
- 3:08Speaker 2: it's truly the only game show and the only board
- 3:11Speaker 2: game where conservation always wins. Mediater Trivia, the board game,
- 3:14Speaker 2: will be available this fall. Whow one dollar per sale
- 3:19Speaker 2: fantastic conservation.
- 3:21Speaker 3: That's sweet.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Here's our zero percenter question of the Week, which tests
- 3:24Speaker 2: how much knowledge players have retained from previous games. This
- 3:28Speaker 2: question was from episode three eighty six. The topic was cooking,
- 3:31Speaker 2: and nobody got it right. What day of the week
- 3:34Speaker 2: is Thanksgiving in Canada? Who knows it? Monday? That's right now?
- 3:41Speaker 2: How did we know it now? But not like six
- 3:43Speaker 2: months ago?
- 3:45Speaker 4: Well you read the answer six months ago.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Sure you remembered it now? Okay, got some Canadian friends.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't even know Canada had to thank Did
- 3:53Speaker 3: you miss it last time or did you know it
- 3:55Speaker 3: and you didn't play?
- 3:56Speaker 4: I think I missed it last time. I think I
- 3:57Speaker 4: was here.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Well it was a zero percenter, so everybody missed it.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Who was playing? Again? The correct answer was Monday. The
- 4:04Speaker 2: incorrect answers were Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Do you know if Thanksgiving is as big in Canada
- 4:11Speaker 1: as it is in the US?
- 4:13Speaker 3: I don't.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I think they celebrate similar similarly, a lot of family
- 4:17Speaker 2: and a lot of food, and it's always the second
- 4:20Speaker 2: Monday of Is it October?
- 4:23Speaker 3: But that was my question, so it's not the same
- 4:25Speaker 3: time of year. No, I mean kind of close, but
- 4:27Speaker 3: a different month.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think it's even in November. It might
- 4:29Speaker 2: have based on the same you're asking me too many
- 4:33Speaker 2: things about.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Acer.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Come on, we'll find out that'll be a future housekeeping. Now,
- 4:42Speaker 2: for the housekeeping portion of today's show, I want to
- 4:45Speaker 2: talk about our schedule for the next few months. By
- 4:47Speaker 2: the middle of October, I hope to have nearly every
- 4:50Speaker 2: episode recorded that we'll release through the end of the year.
- 4:53Speaker 2: That means that future Housekeeping maybe on a significant delay.
- 4:58Speaker 2: If there's a correction to be made, I promise I'll
- 5:00Speaker 2: get to it, but in some cases it may not
- 5:02Speaker 2: happen until twenty twenty four. Now, this also means that
- 5:05Speaker 2: we've already recorded the med Eater Trivia Championship. It's a
- 5:09Speaker 2: four episode tournament that will be released in November and
- 5:12Speaker 2: December where we crown a champion of med Eatter Trivia
- 5:15Speaker 2: for twenty twenty three. There are forty questions and twenty players,
- 5:19Speaker 2: and by the end of the tournament there will be
- 5:21Speaker 2: just one winner. Everyone in this room participating in the
- 5:24Speaker 2: tournament some way without spoiling anything, What can we say
- 5:27Speaker 2: about the tournament to make people excited?
- 5:30Speaker 5: Dude comes down the last question.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Okay, there's a lot of shouting.
- 5:34Speaker 2: There was Episode three, well potentially had the most tension.
- 5:38Speaker 4: That it might have been shouting the most shouting.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Of There's lots of ups and downs for some people.
- 5:44Speaker 1: The championship was just such a blast.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Uh huh, it was a blast. All your corrections, I
- 5:50Speaker 2: bet in episode two.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I hope not.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I hope. We talk about it on the tournament. In
- 5:58Speaker 2: the intro, we had some fact checking that went in
- 6:01Speaker 2: beforehand to make sure that all of our ducks were
- 6:04Speaker 2: in a row. The tournament comes out later this year.
- 6:08Speaker 6: Spencer, can you tell everyone what you told me? Why
- 6:12Speaker 6: you need to have all of.
- 6:13Speaker 5: The episodes recorded so.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I can go hunting?
- 6:15Speaker 4: That's right?
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah. The Shelby Index for today for today's round is
- 6:20Speaker 2: a four, so our winner should get eight correct answers.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And with that we're onto the game of trivia. Play
- 6:26Speaker 2: the drop, Phil, Look, I need to know what I
- 6:32Speaker 2: stand to win everything?
- 6:35Speaker 4: How's that? Just tend to win everything?
- 6:44Speaker 2: Gamon Suckers. Question one. The topic is woodsmanship, and as always,
- 6:49Speaker 2: this will be multiple choice. This first great question comes
- 6:52Speaker 2: to us via Chris Blair. According to the Colorado Parks
- 6:57Speaker 2: and Wildlife, ninety five percent of barry that are this
- 7:01Speaker 2: color or poisonous? Is it red? Green, white, or blue. Again.
- 7:09Speaker 2: This information is via the Colorado Parks and Wildlife. They
- 7:13Speaker 2: say that ninety five percent of berries that are this
- 7:17Speaker 2: color are poisonous. Is it red, green, white, or blue?
- 7:24Speaker 2: The room has been slow to answer Yanni, and Yanni
- 7:29Speaker 2: fashion wants to get a read on the rest of
- 7:31Speaker 2: the room before he comes up with his own answer.
- 7:33Speaker 2: What did you gain from watching the faces of your competitors?
- 7:37Speaker 4: Yanni?
- 7:37Speaker 3: I actually was, and I was just going just going
- 7:40Speaker 3: through the colors, ok ahead, and thinking of berries that
- 7:42Speaker 3: I know in those colors. Now I've got it narrowed
- 7:47Speaker 3: down to two.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Okay, you're gonna ask me something I don't have the
- 7:51Speaker 2: answer to, Randal. You're gonna be like, is this in
- 7:53Speaker 2: the world? Is it North America? No?
- 7:55Speaker 4: I was whether the ninety five Yeah, ninety five percent
- 7:59Speaker 4: of barry species, number of species that have berries of
- 8:02Speaker 4: this color.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I don't know this is It was just it's not
- 8:05Speaker 2: going to change my answer.
- 8:06Speaker 4: I just wanted to.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I think it's safe to assume that this is definitely
- 8:10Speaker 2: in the Rocky Mountains and probably just in North America
- 8:13Speaker 2: in general. But they say ninety five percent of berries
- 8:16Speaker 2: that are this color are poisonous, red, green, white, blue.
- 8:21Speaker 2: It's a high percentage, very high percentage. Does everybody have
- 8:25Speaker 2: an answer? Red? Green, white, blue? We're waiting on. Brody
- 8:34Speaker 2: and Yannis are two competitors who have lived in Colorado,
- 8:38Speaker 2: where this information comes from.
- 8:40Speaker 5: A lot of berries out there.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Berries.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Red, green, white, or blue? Is anybody confident? Does not appear? So? Uh? Yes,
- 8:58Speaker 2: Seth the answer to it quickly, kind but not really
- 9:00Speaker 2: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Trusted saying red,
- 9:03Speaker 2: Maddie saying red, chest you're saying white, Randall saying white,
- 9:08Speaker 2: Seth saying white, Cory saying white, Yanna saying white, Brody
- 9:12Speaker 2: saying white. They got it. The correct answer is white sweat.
- 9:18Speaker 2: In that one, they say that you should avoid almost
- 9:20Speaker 2: all berries that are white or yellow, with ninety five
- 9:24Speaker 2: percent of them categorized as poisonous. About fifty percent of
- 9:28Speaker 2: berries that are red are poisonous, but only fifteen percent
- 9:31Speaker 2: of berries that are black or blue are poisonous. And
- 9:35Speaker 2: of that fifteen percent, about one third of them can
- 9:38Speaker 2: be fatal and the other two thirds will just make
- 9:40Speaker 2: you sick.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Can anybody name a white berry?
- 9:44Speaker 2: No, that's probably that's.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Good poison Ivy, Yeah, that's what I was. That's what
- 9:48Speaker 3: almost made me not pick it, because I was thinking,
- 9:50Speaker 3: we'll snow.
- 9:51Speaker 5: You're still around right now.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Can't be poisoned.
- 9:53Speaker 2: No, because there's not a ton of them. That's probably
- 9:55Speaker 2: why ninety five percent are poisonous. Question two, The topic
- 10:00Speaker 2: is hunting. The eight top selling shotgun shells from shields
- 10:05Speaker 2: are all in this gauge. Again, the topic is hunting
- 10:11Speaker 2: the eight top selling shotgun shells from shields are all
- 10:16Speaker 2: in this gauge.
- 10:20Speaker 7: Shotgun shells from shields. That's a good theater warm up
- 10:23Speaker 7: and you can try that one out.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go, red leather, yellow.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Leathers selling shotgun shells from shields.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Phil, do you have any theater updates for us?
- 10:31Speaker 7: It just started rehearsal for the next show.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 7: Yeah, comes out when October twentieth.
- 10:36Speaker 4: It opens and auditions are closed.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Is this?
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 10:39Speaker 8: Sorry, Randall good. I put a good word in for you,
- 10:41Speaker 8: but they didn't see you got you shared my tape
- 10:44Speaker 8: with them I did.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta tell you what the pizza bagels saw.
- 10:48Speaker 2: That was his audition.
- 10:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:49Speaker 8: So it's not a musical. It's an old like nineteen thirties,
- 10:52Speaker 8: like Screwball. Comedy that still holds up pretty well called
- 10:55Speaker 8: you Can't Take It with you.
- 10:57Speaker 2: But Phil's leaving out the coolest detail. There are only
- 10:59Speaker 2: two people in the whole show.
- 11:00Speaker 8: Oh that's that's a different one, a different one. That
- 11:02Speaker 8: one's in February.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Sure, okay, open for that.
- 11:07Speaker 8: One and I never will a one show one man. Oh,
- 11:12Speaker 8: nobody wants to see that, Phil.
- 11:14Speaker 3: How big of a part do you have?
- 11:16Speaker 7: It's it's pretty big. I mean there's but there no.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Smigger small part, bigger than what you did for what
- 11:22Speaker 3: did we come to, Carl?
- 11:24Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, it's bigger than it's two people.
- 11:26Speaker 3: You said no that February. Sorry, I'm money big, huge,
- 11:30Speaker 3: great cast for this, at least fifty. Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Here's the question one more time. It is question to
- 11:39Speaker 2: the eight tops selling shotgun shells from shields are all
- 11:42Speaker 2: in this gauge? Does everybody have an answer? Yes, go
- 11:45Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Tresa saying twenty,
- 11:48Speaker 2: Maddie saying twelve, Chester saying twelve, Randall saying twelve. Everyone
- 11:54Speaker 2: else in the room said twelve. They got it. The
- 11:56Speaker 2: correct answer is twelve.
- 11:58Speaker 5: I was waiting for a surprise.
- 12:00Speaker 2: According to a twenty nineteen article, the three most popular
- 12:04Speaker 2: shotgun gauges in America are twelve, twenty, and four to
- 12:07Speaker 2: ten in that order. This is reflected in the AMMO
- 12:10Speaker 2: offerings from Midway USA, with three hundred and seventy two
- 12:13Speaker 2: offerings in the twelve gage compared to one hundred and
- 12:16Speaker 2: thirty six and twenty gauge and thirty nine in four
- 12:19Speaker 2: to ten. Question three, the topic is public lands. This
- 12:23Speaker 2: next great question comes to is via Tony Estrada. What
- 12:26Speaker 2: state is home to Sam Houston National Forest and Davy
- 12:31Speaker 2: Crockett National Forest? Question three topic is public lands? What
- 12:38Speaker 2: state is home to Sam Houston National Forest and Davy
- 12:42Speaker 2: Crockett National Forest? Spencer, did you tell us what the
- 12:45Speaker 2: uh Shelby and Lby four winner should get?
- 12:49Speaker 3: Eight?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Lately? Few times in the last couple months, we've had
- 12:54Speaker 2: some players flirting with perfect games, but it has not
- 12:56Speaker 2: happened yet this year. Maybe this is a round that
- 13:00Speaker 2: we get one.
- 13:02Speaker 4: It would be nice.
- 13:04Speaker 2: What if it's not you, though, No, that.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Wouldn't be okay.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Randall just wants to.
- 13:10Speaker 4: I would I would have lost.
- 13:12Speaker 2: He just wants conservation to win. Oh yeah, so then yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 2: we double the donation. Here's the question again. What state
- 13:18Speaker 2: is home to Sam Houston National Forest and Davy Crockett
- 13:21Speaker 2: National Forest. Brody and Yannie, Seth and randall appear to
- 13:26Speaker 2: know at Chester, how about you.
- 13:27Speaker 6: I don't know about that, Okay, gave them too much credit.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Chester, What do we have for lunch today?
- 13:38Speaker 5: Muscles? Rock muscles? It at.
- 13:44Speaker 1: It's not that great.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Last time Chester had to leave the room to release
- 13:48Speaker 2: a burp because he had canned muscles with blue cheese
- 13:52Speaker 2: for lunch.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I mean, if Seth wants to tell it, he can
- 13:55Speaker 1: tell it.
- 13:55Speaker 2: But story, wait, there's a different good story.
- 13:59Speaker 3: I went to launch. I think we need to blank
- 14:02Speaker 3: that out today.
- 14:04Speaker 2: This could be just a couple Yeah we might under.
- 14:07Speaker 9: An hour ago, okay, but on the way home he
- 14:12Speaker 9: almost I think, yeah, I think we will bleep that
- 14:17Speaker 9: out to the point where I had before parking.
- 14:20Speaker 3: I had to stop and let him out at the
- 14:24Speaker 3: front and then and then I went and parked my truck.
- 14:28Speaker 3: And you're pretty sure.
- 14:29Speaker 1: It's from the It happens to the best of us.
- 14:32Speaker 3: It does.
- 14:33Speaker 8: So that took like a what of solid twenty minutes
- 14:35Speaker 8: or maybe not solid, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:38Speaker 2: There's something amazing I saw that the owner of this
- 14:41Speaker 2: place we're talking about that Phil is going to bleep out.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Was recently posting in like a community Facebook group saying
- 14:47Speaker 2: something like, we're under new ownership. We're looking forward to
- 14:50Speaker 2: working with you. Would love to cater events, but I
- 14:52Speaker 2: think I'll avoid him now.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Well, yeah, just Chester, is this just an.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Everyday thing only when we played trivia?
- 15:00Speaker 6: It is home to Sam Houston.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I'm just I'm fine, So it's not.
- 15:08Speaker 5: I don't think it's just.
- 15:10Speaker 2: You know, I we do Chester.
- 15:13Speaker 1: You don't hide anything, sure.
- 15:14Speaker 2: You know in high school, the like a football game day,
- 15:19Speaker 2: like I would get sick to my stomach. I think
- 15:20Speaker 2: that was a common sentiment that other players had. Maybe
- 15:23Speaker 2: it's what trivia does to you, just makes you nervous. Nokay,
- 15:28Speaker 2: does everybody have an answer?
- 15:30Speaker 3: Gonna change mine?
- 15:32Speaker 7: Oh?
- 15:32Speaker 5: Last minute change.
- 15:33Speaker 2: From the honest Our coach straight up told this Chester
- 15:36Speaker 2: that he would get diarrhea every game day. Really, yes,
- 15:39Speaker 2: So maybe maybe that's what we're working with here. It is.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 15:45Speaker 2: Tresta saying Texas, Maddy saying Texas, Chester saying Mississippi, Randall
- 15:50Speaker 2: saying Texas. Seth saying Tennessee, Cory saying Texas. Yiannis saying Arkansas.
- 15:56Speaker 2: He crossed out Texas, Brody saying Texas. We have a
- 15:59Speaker 2: correct to answer in the room. It's Texas. So folks
- 16:03Speaker 2: did pretty.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Well took the clue of Houston, right, that's right.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Both National forests are about one hundred and sixty thousand
- 16:11Speaker 2: acres and are located thirty miles from each other in
- 16:14Speaker 2: East Texas. Each forest was established in nineteen thirty six,
- 16:18Speaker 2: and he's used for logging, grazing, hunting, fishing, hiking, and more.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Each man played an important role in the Texas Revolution,
- 16:24Speaker 2: which explains why towns, cities, counties, streets, and public lands
- 16:29Speaker 2: are named after them in the state.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Got to remember pretty remember the Alamo.
- 16:33Speaker 2: There you go. They got to be pretty small national
- 16:36Speaker 2: for one hundred and sixty thousand acres combined, so maybe
- 16:41Speaker 2: it's sizable in the Alamo. Question four the topic is cooking.
- 16:45Speaker 2: The Food Network describes this as quote Japanese breadcrumbs made
- 16:50Speaker 2: from steamed, crustless loaves of bread. Some quick answers in
- 16:58Speaker 2: the room, the most confident our players have looked. The
- 17:01Speaker 2: Food Network describes this as quote Japanese breadcrumbs made from
- 17:06Speaker 2: steamed crustless loaves of bread. This maybe a one hundred
- 17:10Speaker 2: percenter crustless loaves.
- 17:12Speaker 1: So they cut off the crust.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I don't know if it's they bake it and prevent
- 17:18Speaker 2: crust from forming, or if they cut across.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Suff's possible?
- 17:21Speaker 6: Would that be possible baking something that didn't have a crust?
- 17:24Speaker 1: Right?
- 17:25Speaker 3: Well, if it's steamed.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Maybe?
- 17:27Speaker 6: So?
- 17:29Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 17:35Speaker 2: We have Tressa saying panko. Maddie's saying tempora chess. You're
- 17:39Speaker 2: saying panco, Randall and Seth and Corey and Giannis and
- 17:44Speaker 2: Brody saying panco. They got it. The correct answer is pinko.
- 17:48Speaker 2: The Food Network says the benefit of using panco is
- 17:51Speaker 2: that it's flakier, crunchier, and lighter than traditional bread crumbs.
- 17:55Speaker 2: This makes it a popular choice for fried foods. If
- 17:58Speaker 2: you want to learn how to cook with panco, then
- 18:00Speaker 2: check out Steve Burnelle's recipe for turkey schnitzel or Jenny
- 18:03Speaker 2: Wheatley's recipe for Walleye tacos on the meat eater dot com.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Corey, I hope You're not looking at pictures of breadcrumbs
- 18:09Speaker 4: on that phone.
- 18:11Speaker 5: He's looking at some panco crusted elk.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yeah, looking at pictures of the giant bull he just killed,
- 18:17Speaker 2: which he thinks might go over three hundred inches by
- 18:20Speaker 2: one inch. Oh a different Okay, Yeah, well done, Corey.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Question five, the topic is fishing. This next great question comes.
- 18:27Speaker 2: It is via Chris Blair again, what fishing brand is
- 18:32Speaker 2: known for? Products like the flicker shad and power bait? Again,
- 18:38Speaker 2: a very confident room. What fishing brand is known for?
- 18:42Speaker 2: Products like the flicker shad and power baits? Seth, Chester
- 18:46Speaker 2: Brodie already have their answer. Giannis just joined them.
- 18:49Speaker 7: That flicker shad is the one of Chester's favorite baits.
- 18:52Speaker 6: I like that one too, Sure is a good one.
- 18:56Speaker 1: It is.
- 18:58Speaker 4: He's always like, got to stop and get a couple.
- 19:02Speaker 1: In power boat too.
- 19:06Speaker 2: What fishing brand is known for products like the flicker
- 19:09Speaker 2: shed and power bait? Tresa and Maddie, I think we're
- 19:17Speaker 2: waiting on you. Ready go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 19:27Speaker 2: We have Tresa without an answer, Maddie saying Rapaula Chester
- 19:31Speaker 2: and Randall and Seth saying Berkeley. Corey without an answer
- 19:36Speaker 2: Jannis and Brody saying Berkeley, they got it. The correct
- 19:39Speaker 2: answer is Berkeley. Berkeley was founded in nineteen thirty seven
- 19:44Speaker 2: in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The company began when sixteen year
- 19:47Speaker 2: old Berkeley Bedel used money from his paper route to
- 19:51Speaker 2: start the business. His first products were hand tied flies
- 19:55Speaker 2: that he made out of the hair from the family
- 19:57Speaker 2: dog and feathers from the family chickens.
- 20:01Speaker 7: Did you catch that big wallet on a flicker?
- 20:02Speaker 3: Shed?
- 20:03Speaker 10: I didn't, Oh what color was it? It was like
- 20:05Speaker 10: a purple and white with a little chartruse in it.
- 20:09Speaker 3: If you would have had.
- 20:12Speaker 9: Measured in wait, it would have been a potential Montana
- 20:15Speaker 9: state record?
- 20:16Speaker 2: Man Chester? What size flickershad?
- 20:18Speaker 4: Was it?
- 20:19Speaker 2: Do they go like the three, five seven round?
- 20:21Speaker 10: Is that how they sized their I honestly, I don't know, Okay,
- 20:26Speaker 10: I just look at the caught the big one though, Yeah,
- 20:29Speaker 10: I don't know what one I was.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Phil. We are halfway through the game of trivia. Give
- 20:34Speaker 2: us a scoreboard update.
- 20:35Speaker 7: Yeah, we've got Tresa and Maddie with two points a piece,
- 20:38Speaker 7: and then Chester, Corey, Jannis and Seth All have four
- 20:41Speaker 7: points and tied up. Two perfect games are Brody and
- 20:45Speaker 7: Randall can you believe it.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Sons of bitches.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Brody and Randall perfect game.
- 20:51Speaker 4: On a game show where Randall and.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Always win.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Question six, that's funny, se The topic is how This
- 21:11Speaker 2: eight letter word is a synonym for tadpole and describes
- 21:14Speaker 2: a frog that's in a larval stage. Oh, man, this
- 21:20Speaker 2: is not going to break up the perfect game for Brody,
- 21:23Speaker 2: But Randall doesn't look confident. The topic is biology. Here's
- 21:27Speaker 2: the question. This eight letter word is a synonym for
- 21:31Speaker 2: tadpole and describes a frog that's in a larval stage.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Brody is the only person that's come up with an answer.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Brody, how'd you know it? Oh?
- 21:44Speaker 5: I feel like when you when you hear the answer,
- 21:48Speaker 5: you're going to know it.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Okay, Like.
- 21:54Speaker 5: I can't say anymore.
- 21:55Speaker 2: When you see Brody's answer, you're gonna know it. That's
- 21:58Speaker 2: that's all. He's all he's got. He may be the
- 22:01Speaker 2: only one that comes up with an answer. This eight
- 22:03Speaker 2: letter word is a synonym for tadpole and describes a
- 22:07Speaker 2: frog that's in a larval stage. This is question six.
- 22:16Speaker 2: The room is stumped, baby frog.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Man.
- 22:22Speaker 10: I feel like when you read this question, I was
- 22:25Speaker 10: like I have to know this, but uck.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Huh you do you do? It's in there, and when
- 22:32Speaker 3: he reveals it, you can.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Like every question ever, Spencer, these are.
- 22:38Speaker 6: The ones where are like you to move on to
- 22:40Speaker 6: Does everyone have an answer?
- 22:44Speaker 3: You don't enjoy the chit chat.
- 22:45Speaker 2: There's a real lack of answers in the room right now,
- 22:49Speaker 2: or the only one to write something down?
- 22:52Speaker 5: I have?
- 22:53Speaker 4: I have an answer written down? Not confident?
- 22:55Speaker 2: Okay, does it have eight letters?
- 22:57Speaker 4: It does?
- 22:57Speaker 2: Did you have to misspell it to get there? You think?
- 22:59Speaker 4: Or en the best of my knowledge, this.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Eight letter word is a synonym for tadpole. He describes
- 23:06Speaker 2: a frog. It's in a larval stage.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Chester just can't have something.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Balance is taking a hangman approach. He is gritted out.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Where each letter go? Okay, I might steal his.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Answer to.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Eight letter word that's a synonym for ted.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Is this a technical or a cloak wheel?
- 23:30Speaker 5: Come on, let's go.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Not giving you any help?
- 23:34Speaker 4: I don't even know not it.
- 23:37Speaker 1: It's not eight letters.
- 23:40Speaker 2: The people without answers? Are you going to come up
- 23:42Speaker 2: with an answer?
- 23:44Speaker 3: No? Not in the time that we have.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Maddie and Tressa are writing. When they're done, we will
- 23:50Speaker 2: reveal answers. Seth Are you ready? Yeah, Maddie, Tresa, go
- 23:56Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Tresta saying, Minow
- 24:01Speaker 2: saying tadpole, Chester without an answer, Randall saying pollywog, Small Guy,
- 24:10Speaker 2: Corey saying little fella be honest without an answer, Brody
- 24:14Speaker 2: saying poly wog. They got it. The correct answer is
- 24:17Speaker 2: poly wog.
- 24:19Speaker 6: I feel like if you had asked that in a
- 24:21Speaker 6: kid's version of the Trivia the whole room.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, how would that go?
- 24:25Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 24:26Speaker 4: I just feel like it's a rhyming. It's like in
- 24:28Speaker 4: a nursery rhyme or something.
- 24:31Speaker 7: Also, who can forget the pokemon polywag?
- 24:33Speaker 2: Thank you Phil the Merriam Webster. The Merriam Webster definition
- 24:43Speaker 2: of poly wog is just tadpole. You can spell poly
- 24:47Speaker 2: wog with either an e.
- 24:49Speaker 8: Or a y.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Both of our players who got it right with the
- 24:51Speaker 2: why route. Western Oregon University describes the four stages as
- 24:56Speaker 2: of a frog is being an egg, then tadpole or polywog,
- 25:00Speaker 2: then froglet then frog. Question seven. The topic is public lands.
- 25:05Speaker 2: This is our listener question of the Week, which was
- 25:07Speaker 2: won by Elena Watts for sending this great question. Elena
- 25:10Speaker 2: is going to get a book signed by Steve. If
- 25:13Speaker 2: you want a chance to win our listener question of
- 25:14Speaker 2: the Week, then send your question to Trivia at the
- 25:16Speaker 2: medeater dot com.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I feel like earlier he had some submitted questions, but
- 25:21Speaker 3: they didn't get any prizes.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Oh, there's only one question of the week. Oh and
- 25:26Speaker 2: that person is the only person who gets a prize.
- 25:29Speaker 3: So earlier when you said we got this question from
- 25:31Speaker 3: Brian so and so.
- 25:32Speaker 2: They just get a shout out that is their prize, Yanni,
- 25:35Speaker 2: uh huh. Don't have enough prizes to go round for everyone,
- 25:37Speaker 2: but we appreciate everyone who sends in questions. If you
- 25:41Speaker 2: send in a great one, you may win, like Elena.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Here's a question. Located in Maryland's Katoctin Mountain Park. This
- 25:48Speaker 2: place has served as a secluded presidential retreat since nineteen
- 25:53Speaker 2: forty two. Brody has an answer, Randall, do you have
- 25:57Speaker 2: an answer as well?
- 25:58Speaker 4: I do?
- 25:59Speaker 2: Okay in Ryd will know it. The rest of the
- 26:02Speaker 2: room does not. The topic is public land, located in
- 26:08Speaker 2: Maryland's Katoctin Mountain Park. This place has served as a
- 26:12Speaker 2: secluded presidential retreat since nineteen forty two. Seth is joining
- 26:20Speaker 2: Randall and Brody with an answer, Seth, do you know it?
- 26:26Speaker 3: Maybe?
- 26:26Speaker 2: See Corey? Do you know it?
- 26:28Speaker 3: Yeah? Phil?
- 26:29Speaker 2: What have you gotten that last question?
- 26:31Speaker 7: Right?
- 26:31Speaker 2: Because of the Pokemon Polywag. Yeah, you would have gotten.
- 26:35Speaker 7: It, Pollywag. It's got the very distinct kind of like
- 26:39Speaker 7: tadpole looking chair.
- 26:40Speaker 8: But when it evolves into polywhirl, it loses the tale
- 26:43Speaker 8: and gets like weird gloved hands for some reason.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Doesn'tmorphosis.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it metamorphosis. Here's the question again. Located in katoctin
- 26:53Speaker 2: Mountain Park, this place has served as a secluded presidential
- 26:57Speaker 2: retreat since nineteen forty two. Is everyone who's going to
- 27:02Speaker 2: come up with an answer? Have an answer? Yanni, let
- 27:08Speaker 2: me write something down, Okay, Chester, Tresa, Okay. When Yanni
- 27:15Speaker 2: is done, we will flip over the boards. Go ahead
- 27:18Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have trusted without an answer,
- 27:21Speaker 2: Maddie without an answer, Chester without an answer. Vanda's saying
- 27:23Speaker 2: Camp David, Seth saying Carnegie Estate, Cordy saying Camp David,
- 27:29Speaker 2: Giannis saying Monticello. Brody's saying Camp David. The correct answer
- 27:35Speaker 2: is Camp David.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Camp.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Randall would have been good.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Camp Randall Stadium.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Yeah, every president since Franklin D. Roosevelt has used Camp
- 27:46Speaker 2: David as a place for rest and relaxation. Although it's
- 27:50Speaker 2: within park boundaries, the presidential retreat is close to the public.
- 27:54Speaker 2: The camp has a presidential cabin, a dozen guest cabins,
- 27:57Speaker 2: a pool, hot tub, fitness center, bowling alley, pool tables,
- 28:01Speaker 2: horseshoe pits, ski range, tennis court, basketball court, chapel, golf hole,
- 28:06Speaker 2: and more. Question eight. The topic is conservation, which state
- 28:12Speaker 2: that touches the Pacific Ocean has the most endangered species.
- 28:19Speaker 2: We'll get a scoreboard update from Phil after this. Again,
- 28:22Speaker 2: the topic is conservation, which state that touches the Pacific
- 28:26Speaker 2: Ocean has the most endangered species. Seth, What enabled you
- 28:33Speaker 2: to come up with Camp David? There long after our
- 28:36Speaker 2: other two players? Who got it right? I'm sorry, Corey?
- 28:40Speaker 2: Did Corey you got that right? How do we know
- 28:42Speaker 2: Camp David?
- 28:43Speaker 5: This is a hard one.
- 28:44Speaker 4: I think I've answered this a couple of times.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I watched the news.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Okay, that's you're right. That's that's a good way to
- 28:49Speaker 2: get questions. Right.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Do you watch Big NPR guy? There you go, that's
- 28:59Speaker 3: can't watch that one? Though, can you well, you listen
- 29:04Speaker 3: to NPR, right, oh, yeah, you know, watch Okay. I
- 29:09Speaker 3: just feel like watching the evening news is not a
- 29:11Speaker 3: thing anymore. Like when I grew up hanging out with
- 29:14Speaker 3: my grandparents, like that was a thing. Every night, I
- 29:16Speaker 3: have to sit through the evening news until we could
- 29:18Speaker 3: watch something entertaining. The wheel fortune comes on, yeah or whatever,
- 29:22Speaker 3: and now this is like not a thing.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Here's the question again, which state that touches the Pacific
- 29:27Speaker 2: Ocean has the most endangered species? Brody has declared this
- 29:31Speaker 2: a hard one. Does everybody have an answer? Randall, how
- 29:38Speaker 2: do you feel about your answers? We're not supposed to
- 29:42Speaker 2: talk about a perfect game, but we're gonna talk about
- 29:44Speaker 2: a perfect game. You and Brody both have a perfect
- 29:46Speaker 2: game going.
- 29:48Speaker 5: That's why I might roll the dice on this.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Could separate them. Which state that touches the Pacific Ocean
- 29:55Speaker 2: has the most endangered species? Random is changing.
- 29:58Speaker 3: That's the one on the left side of the map.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Right, depends which way you're holding the map.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Be honest, I've seen that lately. There's like this new
- 30:08Speaker 3: thing in cartography, like popular cartography, where they like to
- 30:12Speaker 3: like spin the world and make you look at continents
- 30:17Speaker 3: and places in you know, from different angles, which is good.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Why do we always look at it with north up?
- 30:22Speaker 9: What you know?
- 30:23Speaker 3: Why is that spenser weird? Think about that? Does it
- 30:27Speaker 3: bother you when you see a map that's south up?
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah, of course that would bother me.
- 30:32Speaker 5: Wouldn't that bother.
- 30:35Speaker 3: I don't know. There's I've been seeing it around.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 30:42Speaker 2: We have Tresta saying California, Maddy's saying California, Chester is
- 30:47Speaker 2: saying California, Randall saying California, Sets saying California, Corey saying Hawaii,
- 30:52Speaker 2: Yana saying California. Brody's saying Hawaii. The correct answer is Hawaii.
- 30:59Speaker 2: God got it right as well as Corey.
- 31:03Speaker 4: I just changed it.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Hawaii actually has the most endangered species in the country
- 31:08Speaker 2: at four hundred and eighty four. For the other states
- 31:11Speaker 2: that touch the Pacific, California has two to eighty seven,
- 31:15Speaker 2: Oregon has forty seven, Washington has thirty two, and Alaska
- 31:19Speaker 2: has eight. Phil We have two questions left. Give us
- 31:23Speaker 2: a leaderboard update.
- 31:26Speaker 7: Sure thing. We have Tresa, Maddy, Seth Giannis, and Chester Well.
- 31:32Speaker 8: They're all out of the game. I don't know where
- 31:33Speaker 8: I was going with that. But then we've got Corey
- 31:37Speaker 8: with six points, Randall with seven, and Brody with eight.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Question nine, the topic is still say Corey. This next
- 31:47Speaker 2: great question comes to us via Jared Hatcher. Mike, what
- 31:50Speaker 2: is the name of a landlocked sakey salmon? This is
- 31:56Speaker 2: question nine. The topic is fishing. What is the name
- 31:59Speaker 2: of a landlocked sak guy salmon? Randall? How close were
- 32:03Speaker 2: you to putting Hawaii on that last time?
- 32:04Speaker 4: I had Hawaii on my board for about ninety percent
- 32:08Speaker 4: of the the time between the question and the answer,
- 32:12Speaker 4: and I erased it at the very last moment and
- 32:17Speaker 4: changed to California.
- 32:18Speaker 2: And Brody, how close were you to not putting Hawaii
- 32:21Speaker 2: on that question? Why? From the beginning?
- 32:24Speaker 4: For you?
- 32:26Speaker 2: Here's the question again, It's question nine. What is the
- 32:29Speaker 2: name of a landlocked socky salmon?
- 32:32Speaker 3: Randal? I see you're hosting an episode coming up here
- 32:35Speaker 3: pretty soon.
- 32:36Speaker 2: That's right, that's correct.
- 32:37Speaker 3: How's that coming?
- 32:39Speaker 4: Uh? It's going very well. Just coming up with questions
- 32:44Speaker 4: that I would know the answer toe so that I
- 32:47Speaker 4: can have a smug sense of self satisfaction at the
- 32:50Speaker 4: very end of the episode, provided that no one else
- 32:52Speaker 4: gets a perfect game?
- 32:54Speaker 3: Got it?
- 32:55Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer? Any bones in there for
- 32:58Speaker 2: the normal?
- 33:00Speaker 5: Oh?
- 33:01Speaker 4: I might put in a couple of weird ones.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yeah. The random episode is about a month away. But
- 33:06Speaker 2: we're going to do the second every second ever episode
- 33:10Speaker 2: where I'm not hosting. It's everybody ready, I'm going to play.
- 33:14Speaker 2: That's right, Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 33:16Speaker 2: Tressa saying Atlantic salmon, Maddie saying coho, Chester saying cocany,
- 33:22Speaker 2: Randall saying cociny, Seth saying King, Corey saying cociny, Giannis
- 33:27Speaker 2: saying Cocainey, Brody saying cociny. The correct answer is cocony.
- 33:32Speaker 2: It's believed that the divergence between sake salmon and cociny
- 33:36Speaker 2: salmon happened about fifteen thousand years ago. Biologists speculate the
- 33:41Speaker 2: newly formed lakes and rivers from Glacier Water convinced some
- 33:45Speaker 2: groups of salmon to quit migrating to the ocean. Although
- 33:48Speaker 2: sakes and cocony sometimes spawn in the same place at
- 33:52Speaker 2: the same time, they will not inter breed. Who's caught
- 33:55Speaker 2: a cociny in here anyone? Were they all in Montana
- 33:58Speaker 2: or somewhere Elsedo?
- 34:00Speaker 3: Oh?
- 34:01Speaker 2: Are there a lot of places in Colorado that have them?
- 34:04Speaker 2: Are they native?
- 34:05Speaker 6: Noa has those things?
- 34:08Speaker 2: Antena has a few places though with native cocaine. I
- 34:10Speaker 2: think right, feel like a far northwest corner. Maybe question ten.
- 34:17Speaker 2: We have Brody with the perfect game. Randall is one
- 34:21Speaker 2: question behind him. They're the only players left, right, Phil, Yes,
- 34:25Speaker 2: perfect game on the line. The topic is cooking. According
- 34:29Speaker 2: to a twenty twenty two study, this store sells the
- 34:33Speaker 2: second most groceries in America. What's wrong the honest.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Doesn't seem to quite fit in the cooking question?
- 34:46Speaker 2: Did we always talk about knowing where your food comes from?
- 34:49Speaker 2: This is according to a twenty twenty two study, this
- 34:51Speaker 2: store sells the second most groceries in America. And this
- 34:54Speaker 2: is based on dollars, not weight or something like that.
- 34:59Speaker 2: It's based on dollars. According to a twenty twenty two study,
- 35:04Speaker 2: this store sells the second most groceries in America. Perfect
- 35:11Speaker 2: game is on the line for Brody, it would be
- 35:14Speaker 2: the first perfect game I think since our Christmas episode
- 35:19Speaker 2: of twenty twenty two. See if he can pull it off? Brody,
- 35:23Speaker 2: how do you feel about your answer? No, I not
- 35:26Speaker 2: great cheering for you. I want it to happen. Normally
- 35:28Speaker 2: i'd lean towards having a tiebreaker, but I would like
- 35:31Speaker 2: to just double our donation instead. Does everybody have an answer,
- 35:35Speaker 2: so you you have a preferred outcome? I do have
- 35:38Speaker 2: a preferred outcome right now? Yes, I would like.
- 35:41Speaker 3: When's this episode gonna air? Sure?
- 35:43Speaker 4: I feel about that.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Like literally next the next episode that's airing.
- 35:46Speaker 6: Yeah, the host should remain impartial, right, that's my understanding
- 35:50Speaker 6: of how these things work.
- 35:51Speaker 4: The best practice.
- 35:53Speaker 3: If you win, you got to donate it to the
- 35:55Speaker 3: veil Bakehorn because that you hear they finally got a
- 35:58Speaker 3: number for the land and they got a big two
- 36:01Speaker 3: point five million dollar fundraising thing that's gonna kick off
- 36:04Speaker 3: here about it in the next couple of days.
- 36:06Speaker 5: But I don't want to jinx myself.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Yeah, let's get there first.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Everybody having any I'm feeling really good about my answer.
- 36:13Speaker 1: You can know it doesn't matter.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Trusted saying
- 36:17Speaker 2: Whole Foods, Maddy's saying Walmart, Chester saying Costco, just sang Walmart,
- 36:23Speaker 2: Seth saying Walmart Corey saying Walmart, Yanna saying Walmart, Brody
- 36:27Speaker 2: saying Walmart. The correct answer is Costco. Damn chester Chester
- 36:34Speaker 2: got it right. Brody wins the game. He doesn't get
