- 3:15Speaker 7: Guard her by the name of Abbot called in day
- 3:16Speaker 7: before yesterday Chester. Abbot said his wife disappeared from their
- 3:19Speaker 7: home out in the valley Thursday night. He says she
- 3:21Speaker 7: thinks she left him. Happens every day, Not this way,
- 3:24Speaker 7: it doesn't. Walsh and I went out to talk to
- 3:26Speaker 7: the man yesterday. A story doesn't make too much sense,
- 3:28Speaker 7: how I mean?
- 3:28Speaker 4: Now?
- 3:29Speaker 7: None of his wife's clothes are missing, none of her luggage.
- 3:31Speaker 7: She even left her pocketbook behind full of money. We
- 3:33Speaker 7: found out from the neighbors. The missing woman has a
- 3:35Speaker 7: seventeen year old boy by a former marriage.
- 3:37Speaker 6: Does that mean anything?
- 3:38Speaker 7: He's an only child, mother dotes on the kids. She
- 3:40Speaker 7: didn't even say goodbye to him.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Well, how'd this? Chester?
- 3:43Speaker 7: Abboit impression pretty groutchy with Walsh and made no cooperation.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Wants to find his wife, doesn't he? I don't know.
- 3:48Speaker 4: I'm not sure. He's no help. I can tell you
- 3:50Speaker 4: that much.
- 3:50Speaker 6: Could I see that report out?
- 3:51Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 3:52Speaker 6: Here you go, Thank you. Florence Trumble abbitt Age thirty nine.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Abbot's your second husband. Persman died a little after the
- 3:59Speaker 4: boy was born.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Disappeared Thursday night from the home five forty six Plasco
- 4:04Speaker 5: Road between sevente eight o'clock.
- 4:06Speaker 6: Well, when did Abbot call in to notify you?
- 4:08Speaker 7: Monday afternoon told us he thought his wife might have
- 4:10Speaker 7: been spending the weekend with her sister.
- 4:12Speaker 4: When he found out she wasn't, he called us. You
- 4:14Speaker 4: meet the boy when you were out there? Yeah, that's
- 4:16Speaker 4: another thing.
- 4:16Speaker 7: How do you mean a kid came riding up on
- 4:18Speaker 7: a bike when we were talking at one of the neighbors.
- 4:20Speaker 7: They tried to talk to him, but the old man
- 4:21Speaker 7: came out and hustled the boy into the house, and
- 4:23Speaker 7: then he started chewing us out.
- 4:24Speaker 6: What's his trouble?
- 4:25Speaker 7: Told us it was our job to find his wife,
- 4:27Speaker 7: not to go prying into his stepson's affairs.
- 4:29Speaker 4: That's a new slat.
- 4:30Speaker 6: Well, how about the woman's friends and relatives. They've been
- 4:32Speaker 6: checked out, you know.
- 4:33Speaker 7: Well she's on it now. I don't think he's had
- 4:35Speaker 7: much luck contacting him so far. I'll tell you the truth.
- 4:37Speaker 7: I don't like the looks of.
- 4:38Speaker 5: It, Missus Abbott have any other relatives here, I mean
- 4:42Speaker 5: besides his sister two lands?
- 4:44Speaker 7: Yeah, I got the list right over here. Sure, wish
- 4:46Speaker 7: we had a chance to talk to that boy. Noticed
- 4:49Speaker 7: anything else out of the way about mister abbit Owl?
- 4:51Speaker 4: Well, I don't know.
- 4:53Speaker 7: There's that list, Joe, Oh, thank you. Abbot was upset
- 4:57Speaker 7: all right. I don't know though he didn't exact me.
- 4:59Speaker 7: Strike me as reacting way a normal man reacts when
- 5:01Speaker 7: his wife's disappeared.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Well, how about a copy of this report? You got
- 5:04Speaker 6: one to spare?
- 5:04Speaker 7: Yeah, sure, just a minute now, missing person's spaghetti.
- 5:09Speaker 4: That's right, this is spaghetti speaking.
- 5:12Speaker 8: Was that?
- 5:13Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, yeah? Sure about what? All right? Good? Four o'clock? Fine,
- 5:22Speaker 4: all right? Signed, goodbye?
- 5:25Speaker 7: Well that was the boy I was telling you about,
- 5:26Speaker 7: mister arabbit stepson, what do you want? He wants to
- 5:28Speaker 7: talk to a sounded worried about his mother. He thinks
- 5:31Speaker 7: something's happened to her.
- 5:35Speaker 5: In police work, missing persons detail is not a department
- 5:38Speaker 5: separate in itself. It's organized is a part of homicide division.
- 5:42Speaker 5: When the possibility of homicide arises in the course of
- 5:45Speaker 5: handling a case, missing persons immediately turns the matter over
- 5:48Speaker 5: to homicide officers for investigation. When we got the call
- 5:52Speaker 5: from the Abbot boy, we automatically took over. According to
- 5:55Speaker 5: al Barghetti, the boy said he suspected his stepfather and
- 5:58Speaker 5: he didn't want him to know of any meeting between
- 6:00Speaker 5: him and police officers. At three point fifteen, Ed and
- 6:04Speaker 5: I left the office and drove to the meeting place.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Designated by the boy the Dairyland Fountain and Coffee Shop
- 6:09Speaker 5: near the corner of Fairfax in Hollywood Boulevard. We got
- 6:12Speaker 5: there at three point fifty pm. At eight minutes past five,
- 6:15Speaker 5: the Abbot boy still had not arrived. We waited another
- 6:18Speaker 5: fifteen minutes, and then we left and drove out to
- 6:20Speaker 5: the valley and pulled up in front of the main
- 6:21Speaker 5: gate to the Abbot.
- 6:22Speaker 6: Nursery on Belasco Road. The house itself was set.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Well back on the property, which covered about five acres
- 6:28Speaker 5: of ground. The entire nursery was surrounded by a six
- 6:31Speaker 5: foot chain link fence, and it looked like every available
- 6:34Speaker 5: foot of ground inside was planted with some kind of
- 6:37Speaker 5: flower or shrub. Mister Abbot met us at the gate.
- 6:40Speaker 5: He had three full grown mastiffs with him. He held
- 6:42Speaker 5: him on a chain.
- 6:44Speaker 9: Yes, what do you want, blase officers you chesterrabbit, that's right,
- 6:48Speaker 9: what do you want?
- 6:48Speaker 6: Well, didn't get those dogs by if you'd asked some questions?
- 6:51Speaker 9: Pretty bid you now if you come back tomorrow, it's important, Abbot.
- 6:54Speaker 9: We like talking. Now, all right, you have to past
- 6:56Speaker 9: time you down you two quiet? That's a quiet all right? Now,
- 7:01Speaker 9: what do you want?
- 7:01Speaker 6: Mind?
- 7:02Speaker 4: If we come inside soon.
- 7:03Speaker 9: He's what, dog and mind are pretty vicious. We can
- 7:04Speaker 9: talk here at the gate, all right.
- 7:06Speaker 5: We've been assigned to look into your wife's disappearance, Abbot.
- 7:08Speaker 5: That's my partner, Sarge Jacobs.
- 7:09Speaker 6: My name's Friday.
- 7:10Speaker 9: Mm hmm. Find out anything about my wife?
- 7:12Speaker 10: Had nothing definite, no thought. Maybe you could help us
- 7:15Speaker 10: mine telling us exactly what happened to night she disappeared.
- 7:17Speaker 9: What do you mean what happened?
- 7:18Speaker 4: Well? When did you see her last? When did you
- 7:20Speaker 4: first noticed she was gone?
- 7:21Speaker 9: We had dinner at Thursday night, about seven o'clock. Then
- 7:23Speaker 9: I laid down for a nap. Florence went out on
- 7:25Speaker 9: the front port for some are I woke up a
- 7:27Speaker 9: little four eight o'clock, went outside to look for her.
- 7:29Speaker 9: She was gone.
- 7:29Speaker 6: No one saw her leave, mister Rabbitt.
- 7:31Speaker 9: Not that I know of. Maybe one of our neighbors.
- 7:33Speaker 9: You can ask them. They seem to know everybody's business.
- 7:36Speaker 6: How about your step son. Wasn't he on Thursday night?
- 7:38Speaker 4: Ruce?
- 7:38Speaker 9: No, he went out to a show with some other kid.
- 7:40Speaker 4: When'd you get back from the show?
- 7:41Speaker 9: You remember ten o'clock? I think, why where's the boy now?
- 7:44Speaker 6: Abbot?
- 7:44Speaker 9: Who are you looking for my wife or stepson, both
- 7:46Speaker 9: of them. Where is he gone? I took him over
- 7:48Speaker 9: to my sister's in Nelhambur. He've been feeling bad and
- 7:50Speaker 9: his mother disappeared. Figure the chance to do him good?
- 7:52Speaker 9: And when did you take him over to your sister's
- 7:54Speaker 9: this afternoon? What's that got to do with It'd like
- 7:56Speaker 9: to talk to him. No, you can't. One allowed the
- 7:57Speaker 9: boy's to upset right now, and I can't allow it.
- 7:59Speaker 6: Afraid you're gonna have to allow it.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Abbot.
- 8:01Speaker 9: Listen, mister, you can get off this property right now
- 8:03Speaker 9: if you want to get FRESI with me. No cough,
- 8:04Speaker 9: you're giving me any fast. He's down there, honey, quiet.
- 8:06Speaker 6: Nobody's given you sass.
- 8:07Speaker 5: We want to talk to your steps on that so
- 8:09Speaker 5: all he might be able to give us a lead
- 8:10Speaker 5: on the whereabouts of your wife.
- 8:11Speaker 9: Now, I say, you can't see the boy. You've been
- 8:12Speaker 9: looking for Flarge for a week and you haven't found
- 8:14Speaker 9: a thing. I guess somebody else will look for it.
- 8:16Speaker 9: It's my business anyway, nobody.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Else is our business. If anything happened to her, what
- 8:19Speaker 4: are you talking about?
- 8:19Speaker 6: You better get your coat, Abbot, like to talk to
- 8:21Speaker 6: you out of town.
- 8:21Speaker 9: Come through that gate and I'll let these dogs go.
- 8:23Speaker 6: We hate to shoot him, mister.
- 8:25Speaker 9: What do you find to prove anyhow? But I have
- 8:27Speaker 9: to go on tone for I'll tell.
- 8:28Speaker 5: You when we get there, I'll get your coat. Jester
- 8:32Speaker 5: Rabbit turned, made his way up the path and into
- 8:34Speaker 5: the house. A few minutes later he came out, closed
- 8:37Speaker 5: the gate behind him, and got into our car. On
- 8:39Speaker 5: the way back downtown, he talked pleasantly about the weather,
- 8:42Speaker 5: the nursery business, and his dogs. When we got to
- 8:45Speaker 5: the office, we found out the reason for his sudden
- 8:47Speaker 5: change and temperament. His lawyer was waiting for us at
- 8:50Speaker 5: the door. We tried to interrogate Abbot, but the lawyer
- 8:52Speaker 5: objected to just about every question we asked. It was
- 8:54Speaker 5: hopeless and we knew it, and so did the lawyer.
- 8:57Speaker 5: We released Abbot, but not before we got the name
- 8:59Speaker 5: and address of his sister in al Hambra, where the step son,
- 9:02Speaker 5: Bruce was supposedly staying. After Abbot and his lawyer left,
- 9:06Speaker 5: ed and I signed out of the office and drove
- 9:08Speaker 5: to al Hambra to check on.
- 9:09Speaker 4: The boy or get you sure had this one a
- 9:11Speaker 4: real sleeper? Yeah?
- 9:13Speaker 6: I like know how the step son missed that date
- 9:14Speaker 6: with us. This afternoon, the.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Boy called us from the house. Stepfather could over hurt him.
- 9:18Speaker 5: That's possible. Sister's house ought to be along this block.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Shudn't Let's see fourteen oh eight I was six?
- 9:26Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, there at is great cottage fourteen oh two.
- 9:28Speaker 6: Okay, let's pull up here, all.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Right, nice looking place, well, captain.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Nice neighborhood. Wonder how the lot prices run out here?
- 9:43Speaker 6: I'll get the bell.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Yes, what is it police officers, ma'am you miss Abbot, Yes,
- 9:53Speaker 4: Helen Abbot.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Why well, we talked to your brother earlier today, Miss Abbot.
- 9:57Speaker 5: He said he brought his step son Bruce over here
- 9:59Speaker 5: to stay a while, see him if we could Bruce.
- 10:01Speaker 11: Well, yes, he was here until about an hour and
- 10:03Speaker 11: a half ago.
- 10:04Speaker 4: I went to the store, and when I came back
- 10:05Speaker 4: he was gone. Any idea where we can find him
- 10:07Speaker 4: a habit?
- 10:07Speaker 11: Well, I tell U phone my brother Chester just before
- 10:09Speaker 11: you came to the door.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Bruce isn't there?
- 10:11Speaker 4: Yes, master mind, if we came and looked around, the
- 10:13Speaker 4: sabbath won't take long. Well, why I told you Bruce
- 10:17Speaker 4: isn't here. It's the truth.
- 10:18Speaker 11: There's no reason to lie about it is there.
- 10:20Speaker 6: Well, no, ma'am, it's not that.
- 10:21Speaker 9: Well then what is it?
- 10:22Speaker 11: No reason for me to lie to you?
- 10:23Speaker 5: How about your brother? We went in and looked the
- 10:28Speaker 5: house over from one end to the other. It wasn't
- 10:30Speaker 5: a trace of the boy. We drove back to the
- 10:31Speaker 5: Abbot nursery and satisfied ourselves the boy wasn't there. Meantime,
- 10:35Speaker 5: the home of Chester Rabbit's sister in al Hamber was
- 10:38Speaker 5: kept under constant surveillance. No one came or went. The
- 10:41Speaker 5: next morning, when Ed and I checked in for workers
- 10:43Speaker 5: usual at eight a m. We met with Sergeant al Barghetti.
- 10:46Speaker 7: Well, I had have an idea there might be something wrong.
- 10:48Speaker 7: What makes you so positive.
- 10:50Speaker 10: Though I just did it Holm, We're not positive. It's
- 10:51Speaker 10: the whole setup, I guess, smelt Bed.
- 10:53Speaker 4: How do you mean, for instance.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Well, Abbit's lawyer for one thing. If a man's innocent,
- 10:57Speaker 5: he doesn't have his lawyer sit with him and tell
- 10:58Speaker 5: him not to answer any question.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:00Speaker 6: Number two, the kid's phone call. He didn't show up
- 11:02Speaker 6: for that date you figured.
- 11:04Speaker 7: I don't know, could be doesn't get along with his stepfather.
- 11:07Speaker 7: Happens you know, maybe he's trying to get back at
- 11:08Speaker 7: him for something or other.
- 11:09Speaker 6: Yeah, that could be. Why is Abbot hiding him out? Then?
- 11:12Speaker 4: Pretty sure he's hiding him out. Well, the thing's been
- 11:14Speaker 4: going an other way.
- 11:15Speaker 7: To take it, Missus Abbot walked away from her home
- 11:18Speaker 7: last Thursday night. Nobody saw her. She took nothing with her,
- 11:20Speaker 7: No luggage, no clothes, no money.
- 11:22Speaker 4: That's it. You check with her family.
- 11:24Speaker 10: Doctor yesterday told us missus Abbott was in perfect health.
- 11:26Speaker 10: Checked her bank statements, double checked the name for Wanders
- 11:29Speaker 10: file repeaters found missing persons, couldn't find it in neither one.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Her relatives too, How you talk to that some of them?
- 11:34Speaker 6: Yeah, got a few more to check out this morning.
- 11:37Speaker 7: One thing's certain. No clothes, no money, no luggage. She
- 11:39Speaker 7: couldn't have gone very far. He checked all the angles.
- 11:42Speaker 5: Out, the sheriff's office, the jails, the hospitals. Sent out
- 11:45Speaker 5: a teletype and an APB. She's been gone almost a week.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Nobody's seen her. Now, how's that add up to you?
- 11:50Speaker 5: I got an idea. Yeah, I hope I'm wrong. Eight
- 11:55Speaker 5: forty five am ed and I left the office and
- 11:58Speaker 5: continued making the rounds of the missing woman friends and relatives.
- 12:01Speaker 5: We checked at the Western National bank, where missus Abbot
- 12:04Speaker 5: maintained another account. Her saving statement showed a total balance
- 12:07Speaker 5: of thirty one thousand, five hundred and sixty four dollars
- 12:10Speaker 5: and seventeen cents. Her checking account had a balance of
- 12:13Speaker 5: eight hundred and forty two dollars and seventy one cents.
- 12:16Speaker 5: At the Farmer's mutual we found the record of an
- 12:18Speaker 5: insurance policy issued to Florence Trumbull Abbot. There was a
- 12:21Speaker 5: twenty pay life policy covering the insured in the amount
- 12:24Speaker 5: of thirty thousand dollars. The beneficiary was listed as the
- 12:28Speaker 5: insured son, Bruce Trumbull Abbot, if living upon receipt of
- 12:32Speaker 5: such due proof, if not, the insured's husband, Chester j Abbot.
- 12:36Speaker 5: By the time we finished checking the missing woman's financial status,
- 12:39Speaker 5: we figured we had a fair suspect in the husband,
- 12:41Speaker 5: Chester Abbot. From casual reports, we knew he was a
- 12:45Speaker 5: frugal man, almost to the point of obsession. If he
- 12:48Speaker 5: was greedy as well, if he wanted or needed money
- 12:50Speaker 5: badly enough to kill, then he had all the motives
- 12:53Speaker 5: necessary to murder his wife, maybe his stepson too. Six
- 12:57Speaker 5: forty p m ed Nidrove back to the office.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Go ahead, A long day out of minage.
- 13:05Speaker 6: Wonder fowl still around? Hey, Bargetti.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Helt Yeah, here, that's you Friday.
- 13:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:13Speaker 4: How'd you do get anything?
- 13:14Speaker 7: A few things? Pretty predock good. I got some more
- 13:16Speaker 7: for you. Just walked in here ten minutes ago. Bruce
- 13:18Speaker 7: savd he's waiting in the next room.
- 13:23Speaker 5: We went into the next room and met the Abbot boy.
- 13:25Speaker 5: He was small for a seventeen year old, dark haired, thin,
- 13:28Speaker 5: a little on the sickly side. He seemed nervous and upset.
- 13:31Speaker 5: He told us that he wasn't able to keep the
- 13:33Speaker 5: date he made with us on the phone because his
- 13:35Speaker 5: stepfather did apparently overhear the conversation and drove the boy
- 13:38Speaker 5: immediately to his sister's place in al Hamburg. We asked
- 13:41Speaker 5: the boy what made him so sure that his stepfather
- 13:44Speaker 5: was responsible for his mother's disappearance.
- 13:46Speaker 11: Well, for one thing, all three of us usually go
- 13:47Speaker 11: to the early show on Thursday night, Chester, Mom and me,
- 13:50Speaker 11: but last Thursday we didn't go.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Why was that? Son?
- 13:52Speaker 11: Chester said he wasn't feeling too good and he wanted
- 13:54Speaker 11: Mom to stay home and take care of him, and
- 13:56Speaker 11: he told me to go on ahead of the show,
- 13:57Speaker 11: So I did.
- 13:58Speaker 6: For what times you get home, Bruce.
- 14:00Speaker 11: About a quarter to ten ten o'clock.
- 14:01Speaker 6: Did you know anything unusually when he got home?
- 14:03Speaker 11: Some not so much. No, Mom wasn't there. I didn't
- 14:06Speaker 11: think much about it. Then I thought maybe she was
- 14:08Speaker 11: over to one of the neighbors.
- 14:09Speaker 4: You ask your stepfather where she was?
- 14:10Speaker 11: Uh huh? He said he didn't know. He said he
- 14:12Speaker 11: thought she was over at one of the neighbors too.
- 14:14Speaker 4: What was your stepfather doing when he got home?
- 14:16Speaker 11: Just sitting in the living room reading the paper. I
- 14:18Speaker 11: usually don't talk to him too much. I just asked
- 14:20Speaker 11: him where Mom was, and he told me, and then
- 14:22Speaker 11: I went back to my room and went to bed.
- 14:23Speaker 5: He noticed anything unusual about the way he acted, anything
- 14:26Speaker 5: different about him at all?
- 14:27Speaker 11: Well, I'm not too sure. He did seem a little nervous,
- 14:30Speaker 11: though jumpy.
- 14:31Speaker 6: More than usual. I think anything else.
- 14:34Speaker 11: Well, when I came through the front yard, I noticed
- 14:36Speaker 11: that dogs had mud all over their paws. Read Heimi
- 14:38Speaker 11: and George, all three of them. They must have been
- 14:40Speaker 11: out in the nursery plots.
- 14:41Speaker 6: Anything unusual about that.
- 14:43Speaker 11: In a way? Yeah, you see, the dogs don't go
- 14:45Speaker 11: out in the plots unless Chester's with him. He doesn't
- 14:47Speaker 11: want him to trample the seedlings. I noticed Chester had
- 14:50Speaker 11: mud on his shoes that night too.
- 14:51Speaker 10: When you figure your stepfather was out digging somewhere in
- 14:53Speaker 10: the nursery plots that night.
- 14:54Speaker 11: Yeah, that's right, digging somewhere he must have been. You
- 14:58Speaker 11: can't figure out why though what he means. My stepfather
- 15:01Speaker 11: never works at night.
- 15:12Speaker 3: You are listening to dragnet authentic stories of your police
- 15:16Speaker 3: force and action.
- 15:25Speaker 5: Thursday September sixteenth, seven oh five pm, we continued talking
- 15:29Speaker 5: to the missing woman's seventeen year old son, Bruce Abbot.
- 15:32Speaker 5: As the interview went on, it became more and more
- 15:34Speaker 5: obvious that the boy and his stepfather, Chester Abbot didn't get.
- 15:37Speaker 6: Along at all.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Apparently the boy was jealous of him, and he was
- 15:41Speaker 5: jealous of the boy. Besides his prejudice, Bruce also contradicted
- 15:44Speaker 5: himself during the course of the Questioning seven fifteen pm,
- 15:48Speaker 5: the interview went on.
- 15:49Speaker 10: I understand that, all right, son, But you say you
- 15:51Speaker 10: can't think of any reason why your father would be
- 15:53Speaker 10: out working the nursery plots that time of night.
- 15:55Speaker 11: No, sir, I can't. I don't know how I'd get
- 15:57Speaker 11: any work done. None of the plots are even light
- 15:59Speaker 11: at only the greenhouse.
- 16:00Speaker 5: As well as possibly could have gotten that muddy and
- 16:02Speaker 5: his shoes working in one of the greenhouses.
- 16:04Speaker 11: No, sure, I don't see how all the peasant the
- 16:06Speaker 11: greenhouses are graveled, so my job to see they're kept gravel.
- 16:09Speaker 11: I know they weren't Mouddy because I fixed him the
- 16:11Speaker 11: day before.
- 16:13Speaker 6: Well what do you think it means, Bruce?
- 16:14Speaker 11: I don't know. I don't want to think about it.
- 16:17Speaker 11: I just know he's done something. He's done something to.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Her after your father, that is, your stepfather.
- 16:21Speaker 10: Give me any reason for keeping you away from the
- 16:23Speaker 10: police officers he came to your house?
- 16:24Speaker 4: I mean the first two officers we showed up.
- 16:26Speaker 11: No, he said people were getting nosy, that's all.
- 16:28Speaker 4: He said.
- 16:29Speaker 11: It might be better for me over at my aunt
- 16:30Speaker 11: Helen's place.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Do you think your aunt Helen might know where your
- 16:33Speaker 4: mother is?
- 16:33Speaker 11: I don't think so. We hardly ever see Aunt Helen.
- 16:36Speaker 11: We don't know her well at all.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Well, do you know if your mother and stepfather argued
- 16:40Speaker 6: very much? Son?
- 16:40Speaker 11: I mean big arguments sometimes, yeah, mostly about me. What
- 16:44Speaker 11: do you mean Chester's pretty tight? You know, doesn't like
- 16:47Speaker 11: to spend money at all. He and Mom used to
- 16:50Speaker 11: argue about whether I ought to get paid for the
- 16:51Speaker 11: work I did around the nursery. Chester didn't want to
- 16:53Speaker 11: pay me. That's so yeah. When I started working, he
- 16:56Speaker 11: promised he'd pay me. I was saving up to buy
- 16:58Speaker 11: a thirty one model A. After a couple of weeks,
- 17:01Speaker 11: when he didn't pay me, I asked him about it.
- 17:03Speaker 11: He told me I ought to be glad to work
- 17:04Speaker 11: for him for nothing.
- 17:05Speaker 4: And your mother argued with him about that.
- 17:07Speaker 11: Sure, she got good and mad too. She should have
- 17:09Speaker 11: gotten mad. It was her money that bought the nursery.
- 17:11Speaker 4: Anyway, how'd you happen to get away from your aunt's place?
- 17:13Speaker 11: Bruce wasn't too hard. Helen had some shopping to do,
- 17:16Speaker 11: and she left me alone. She locked the door to
- 17:17Speaker 11: my room. Even the screen over the window was nailed down,
- 17:20Speaker 11: but I kicked it out and got away. I stayed
- 17:22Speaker 11: at a friend's house last night.
- 17:24Speaker 6: You thought much about where you're going to stay to night?
- 17:25Speaker 11: Son, Well, I don't know. Sergeant Burghetti, I was talking
- 17:29Speaker 11: to him. He asked me if I wanted to go
- 17:31Speaker 11: out and have dinner and then stay at his house
- 17:32Speaker 11: to night, And I don't know.
- 17:33Speaker 6: It sounds like a good idea.
- 17:34Speaker 11: To me, I don't know sure. Nice of him to
- 17:37Speaker 11: ask me.
- 17:37Speaker 10: I think it'd be a lot better for you, son.
- 17:39Speaker 10: Why don't you check in next offic see if Bargetti's
- 17:41Speaker 10: ready to leave.
- 17:41Speaker 12: Huh yeah, okay, Sergeant, thanks Joe, what do you think?
- 17:50Speaker 12: Harrd to say he might be lying. Before we signed
- 17:56Speaker 12: out of the office.
- 17:57Speaker 5: That night, we met with Captain Warman and outlined a
- 17:59Speaker 5: plan to bring in the husband of the missing woman
- 18:01Speaker 5: for questioning alone. We figured it had served two purposes,
- 18:05Speaker 5: clarify the boy's position in the case and determine, one
- 18:08Speaker 5: way or another if the stepfather was withholding information about
- 18:11Speaker 5: the disappearance of missus Abbot. The big problem was to
- 18:14Speaker 5: bring in Chester Rabbit for interrogation without the knowledge of
- 18:17Speaker 5: his lawyer. As we'd found out more than once it
- 18:20Speaker 5: was impossible to get anything out of Abbot with his
- 18:22Speaker 5: lawyer present. We set up a plan to call at
- 18:24Speaker 5: the Abbot home early in the morning, get the suspect
- 18:27Speaker 5: out of bed, and bring him in before his lawyer
- 18:29Speaker 5: could be notified. At three point thirty the following morning,
- 18:32Speaker 5: Ed and I met at the office and started for
- 18:34Speaker 5: the Abbot place. We brought along a couple of pounds
- 18:36Speaker 5: of fresh horse meat to keep the dogs quiet if
- 18:38Speaker 5: they raised a fuss. At ten minutes past four am,
- 18:41Speaker 5: we parked our car a few hundred feet down the
- 18:43Speaker 5: road from the Abbot Nursery and made our way toward
- 18:45Speaker 5: the gate.
- 18:45Speaker 6: I reached in and tried the latch. The dog started.
- 18:48Speaker 10: Out, how about it, joll hope, No, it's padlocks.
- 18:52Speaker 5: We're gonna have to climb the fence. Task some of
- 18:54Speaker 5: that moat over them. When okay, there, that does it?
- 19:03Speaker 6: All right, let's climb the fence.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Keep an eye on the hounds. Looks like to take
- 19:05Speaker 4: a leg off or.
- 19:08Speaker 6: Take it easy?
- 19:08Speaker 4: Ed? All right, watch.
- 19:14Speaker 6: It comes out of the dog and get somewhere of that.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Moat right there. You're right, boy, go get it.
- 19:17Speaker 11: Go on?
- 19:20Speaker 6: All right, that's fine. Come on, let's hurry.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Yeah, have a little chalk when's alongside of the house.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Fights just went on?
- 19:29Speaker 6: Come on?
- 19:32Speaker 4: Who who's there?
- 19:34Speaker 8: Who'sh it?
- 19:35Speaker 4: I'll take the dogs on.
- 19:36Speaker 6: You police officers, Abbot, Friday and Jacobs.
- 19:41Speaker 9: What kind of business is? What are you doing out
- 19:44Speaker 9: here this time of night?
- 19:44Speaker 4: You're under arrest, mister rabbit.
- 19:46Speaker 9: What are you talking about?
- 19:46Speaker 4: I think you heard me. You're under arrest.
- 19:48Speaker 9: What kind of crazy thing is this?
- 19:49Speaker 4: You're gonna pay for this? I'll have your job.
- 19:51Speaker 6: How do you want to get your coat?
- 19:52Speaker 9: Your cops are asking for a pack of trouble. You
- 19:53Speaker 9: know that I get your coat. I'd like to know
- 19:55Speaker 9: what you think you're doing. Where's my steps on?
- 19:57Speaker 4: Anyway?
- 19:57Speaker 9: What have you done with him?
- 19:58Speaker 6: I got a better one for you, mister. You done
- 20:00Speaker 6: with your wife?
- 20:05Speaker 5: Four am ed and I drove the suspect chester Abbit
- 20:08Speaker 5: back downtown to the office.
- 20:10Speaker 6: He was quiet and sullen. We headed down the hall
- 20:12Speaker 6: for the squad room.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Right still burning in the office.
- 20:15Speaker 6: Yeah, probably by Getty's standing by all right, Abbitt in there.
- 20:19Speaker 4: You are going to pay for these.
- 20:20Speaker 9: You can take my word on that head.
- 20:21Speaker 6: You want to take him in, the officer and stay
- 20:22Speaker 6: with him. I'll check with al.
- 20:23Speaker 4: Okay, all right, Joe, you bring him in.
- 20:32Speaker 6: Yeah, he's next door. Eds with him.
- 20:34Speaker 4: It's tough for somebody must have seen you.
- 20:35Speaker 6: No, I don't think so.
- 20:36Speaker 4: I must have. Why what do you mean Abbot's lawyer?
- 20:38Speaker 4: He's sitting in the next room.
- 20:43Speaker 6: How the lawyer had been notified? We couldn't be sure.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Again, we tried to question Abbot and again on the
- 20:47Speaker 5: advice of his attorney. He refused to answer frantically every
- 20:50Speaker 5: question we put to him. We released him that day.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Captain Mormon assigned two men to stake out on the
- 20:55Speaker 5: nursery and report on all.
- 20:56Speaker 6: Of Chester Abbit's movements.
- 20:58Speaker 5: A little after sevent p just after ninth fall, we
- 21:01Speaker 5: tried again to bring the suspect in for questioning without
- 21:03Speaker 5: his lawyer's knowledge.
- 21:04Speaker 6: It didn't work.
- 21:06Speaker 5: The men assigned to stake out on the Abbot place
- 21:08Speaker 5: reported definitely that someone was tipping off the attorney. Whenever
- 21:11Speaker 5: unknown visitors showed up at the nursery and drove off
- 21:13Speaker 5: together with mister Abbot, there was nothing we could do
- 21:16Speaker 5: about it. The following morning, al Barghetti came up with
- 21:18Speaker 5: a lead.
- 21:19Speaker 7: Had a long talk with the boy last night. I
- 21:20Speaker 7: think he came up with a pretty fair lead. How's
- 21:22Speaker 7: that the old man's responsible. We know there's only one
- 21:24Speaker 7: way we'll get a conviction. Yeah, find the body and
- 21:27Speaker 7: enough evidence to tie him in. Where do we start looking?
- 21:29Speaker 7: In a new rose bed. It's next to one of
- 21:31Speaker 7: the greenhouses in Abbot's nursery. Boy tell you this, Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 7: seems to make sense. We know all man Abbot's crazy
- 21:37Speaker 7: about saving a dollar. We found that out from the
- 21:39Speaker 7: neighbors and the relatives on the nursery trade, especially in
- 21:42Speaker 7: the limited area Abbot has to work in. You cultivate
- 21:44Speaker 7: every foot of ground you have, you plan every foot
- 21:46Speaker 7: of soil with something.
- 21:47Speaker 6: Well yeah, what's the point.
- 21:49Speaker 7: Well, Rabbit's not the type to waste anything. He wouldn't
- 21:51Speaker 7: let ground lie fallow when he could plan something that
- 21:53Speaker 7: might bring in a few dollars next spring. Bruce tells
- 21:56Speaker 7: me his stepfather has every inch of the property planet
- 21:58Speaker 7: was something everything except a six i ate plot of
- 22:00Speaker 7: ground on that rose garden.
- 22:02Speaker 6: Well, what did the boys say? A plot been vacant
- 22:04Speaker 6: for a long?
- 22:04Speaker 11: Why?
- 22:04Speaker 7: He says, his stepfather got al ready for planning a
- 22:06Speaker 7: week and a half ago. It's still vacant. Be worth
- 22:08Speaker 7: checking out. How do we do it? We can order
- 22:10Speaker 7: up a crew from the crime lab. They can take
- 22:11Speaker 7: probings to the plot all around it. They ought to
- 22:14Speaker 7: be able to tell us how deep the ground's been
- 22:15Speaker 7: worked over lately.
- 22:16Speaker 6: Okay, what do you figure tonight?
- 22:18Speaker 4: I think so? Yeah, maybe eleven twelve o'clock.
- 22:20Speaker 6: What about old man Abbit? You think he's gonna sit
- 22:22Speaker 6: still for.
- 22:23Speaker 4: The hunch pays off. He's gonna sit still a long time.
- 22:29Speaker 5: It was ten minutes past eleven that night when we
- 22:31Speaker 5: got to the Abbot nursery, Lee Jones and the crime
- 22:33Speaker 5: lab crew Al Barghetti, Ed and two other men from Homicide.
- 22:37Speaker 6: The men on.
- 22:37Speaker 5: Steakhout told us Chester Abbot, along with his attorney, had
- 22:40Speaker 5: left the house a half hour before.
- 22:42Speaker 6: In his car, a dark blue coop. They hadn't returned.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Ed brought along another supply of fresh horse meat for
- 22:47Speaker 5: the dog, so we didn't have any trouble their We
- 22:50Speaker 5: located the vacant plot of ground in the rosebed next
- 22:52Speaker 5: to one of the greenhouses, as Bruce Abbott had described
- 22:55Speaker 5: it to Barghetti. The crime lab crew started probing the ground,
- 22:59Speaker 5: obviously had been working over recently, into some depth.
- 23:02Speaker 6: They started digging.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Anderson, get that light over here with you. Thanks, Chelsea. Anything, No,
- 23:13Speaker 4: let's keep digging.
- 23:18Speaker 11: Try it over here.
- 23:19Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, this is it.
- 23:21Speaker 5: He wasn't taking any chances down a good four or
- 23:24Speaker 5: five feet now, wuldn't you say?
- 23:25Speaker 4: Yeah, at least that Anderson more light.
- 23:27Speaker 6: Huh, All right, let's go at it.
- 23:33Speaker 13: Wait a minute, yeah, woman, shoe here, Yeah, come on,
- 23:45Speaker 13: just a matter.
- 23:48Speaker 6: Yeah, that's it. Shoulders there, it's a body. I look
- 23:53Speaker 6: paid off al the boy had it figured.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Yeah, too bad. He was right.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Ed, and I went back to our car and notified
- 24:03Speaker 5: communications to broadcast a want for murder on Chester Rabbit.
- 24:07Speaker 6: His description, together with the description of.
- 24:08Speaker 5: His car and license number, was rebroadcast every fifteen minutes.
- 24:12Speaker 5: The attorney was contacted and he stated that mister Abbot
- 24:14Speaker 5: had dropped him off at his home more than an
- 24:16Speaker 5: hour before, he knew nothing of his whereabouts. Ed and
- 24:20Speaker 5: I went back to check the Abbot home and found
- 24:22Speaker 5: the front door unlocked.
- 24:23Speaker 6: We went inside and looked around.
- 24:25Speaker 5: In one bedroom, we found clothes scattered over the bed
- 24:28Speaker 5: and on the floor. There was only one old soup
- 24:30Speaker 5: left in one closet. On the table next to the bed,
- 24:33Speaker 5: we found an airline's timetable. We got to the phone
- 24:36Speaker 5: and notified communications to alert all special details at railroad stations,
- 24:40Speaker 5: bus terminals and airports, and then to get out an APB.
- 24:43Speaker 5: After that we checked with the airlines. One of them
- 24:46Speaker 5: told us a man answering Abbot's description of book passages
- 24:48Speaker 5: to Mexico City that night under the name of Charles
- 24:51Speaker 5: Frasier the plane was scheduled to leave at one fifty
- 24:54Speaker 5: two am at the Burbank Airport. We called the detail
- 24:57Speaker 5: at the airport and alerted them. Then we drove over
- 24:59Speaker 5: to the field to follow through on it. It was
- 25:02Speaker 5: one thirty two am when Ed and I took up
- 25:03Speaker 5: our positions just inside Gate three, where passengers were boarding
- 25:07Speaker 5: flight seventy two for Mexico City. There was no sign
- 25:10Speaker 5: of the suspect, either on the plane or in the
- 25:12Speaker 5: waiting room.
- 25:14Speaker 4: I think you, sir, I don't know.
- 25:16Speaker 8: Walk your bag over here.
- 25:17Speaker 10: Where Sparghetti over there by the cocktail, I say him.
- 25:21Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, what time he got? Now?
- 25:24Speaker 4: One?
- 25:25Speaker 6: Eight planes do to take off another four minutes? Isn't it.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Any sign him? Now?
- 25:32Speaker 11: No?
- 25:32Speaker 7: Nothing, just made the rounds check with Stevens and Cummings.
- 25:35Speaker 7: If he got and he came in somebody's suitcase couldn't
- 25:37Speaker 7: have possibly gotten through without one of us seeing.
- 25:39Speaker 6: It, Well, well he hasn't got much more time. Maybe
- 25:42Speaker 6: it's a dead end.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Huh, don't see how he could have gotten the whis
- 25:44Speaker 4: do you over there? No? No? By the ticket count
- 25:47Speaker 4: of there, assume.
- 25:48Speaker 6: Yeah that's him. Come on, huh right, just a minute, abbot.
- 25:54Speaker 9: I haven't got time now, I missed my plane. Do
- 25:56Speaker 9: you have anything more to say to me? If you wait, like,
- 25:57Speaker 9: get back? It's right, not of it and take it
- 25:59Speaker 9: up my lawyer. I'm in a hurry.
- 26:00Speaker 5: We find your wife's body. I was that from the
- 26:02Speaker 5: rose bed next to the greenhouse.
- 26:04Speaker 4: I don't know what you mean. You must be mistaken.
- 26:05Speaker 4: No mistake, hands behind your back. What's it's all about?
- 26:08Speaker 9: I haven't done anything?
- 26:09Speaker 6: All right, let's go.
- 26:10Speaker 9: No, just a minute. You've got it wrong. I don't
- 26:12Speaker 9: know anything about it.
- 26:13Speaker 6: We think you do?
- 26:14Speaker 9: Now, come on, wasn't my fault. I didn't know what
- 26:17Speaker 9: I was doing. I pleaded in sanity. She drove me
- 26:20Speaker 9: to it. We were allaing about the boy and you
- 26:21Speaker 9: slapped me. I didn't mean to do it.
- 26:22Speaker 4: All right, let's go, Abbitt.
- 26:27Speaker 9: Can you wait just.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Two minutes more?
- 26:29Speaker 6: What four?
- 26:30Speaker 9: I cleaned one from Mexico City? Funny, isn't it?
- 26:34Speaker 4: What's that?
- 26:36Speaker 9: I was so close, just missed it. I'd buy more
- 26:39Speaker 9: than one minute. No, you're wrong about that, Abbot, just
- 26:43Speaker 9: one minute, that's all.
- 26:45Speaker 6: You missed it before you ever bought your ticket. How
- 26:47Speaker 6: do you figure when you first decided to kill your wife?
- 26:50Speaker 6: Come on.
- 26:58Speaker 2: The story you have just heard was true. The names
- 27:01Speaker 2: were changed to protect the innocent.
- 27:03Speaker 3: On December nineteenth, trial was held in Superior Court, Department
- 27:06Speaker 3: eighty nine, City and County of Los Angeles, State of California.
- 27:09Speaker 3: In a moment the results of that trial, Chester Vernon
- 27:20Speaker 3: Abbott was tried and convicted of murder in the first degree.
- 27:24Speaker 3: The jury failed to recommend clemency. Abbot was executed in
- 27:27Speaker 3: the lethal gas chamber at the State Penitentiary San Quentin, California.
- 27:41Speaker 3: You have just heard Dragnet a series of authentic cases
- 27:44Speaker 3: from official files. Technical advice comes from the Office of
- 27:48Speaker 3: Chief of Police W. H. Parker, Los Angeles Police Department
- 27:51Speaker 3: Technical advisors Captain Jack Donahoe, Sergeant Marty Wynne, and Sergeant
- 27:56Speaker 3: Vance Bracer. Heard tonight were Barney Phillips and herbella script
- 28:01Speaker 3: by Jim Mosic, music by Walter Schumann, Hell Gifney speaking.
- 28:13Speaker 6: Now, It's Counterspy on NBC.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Welcome back. Well, if this episode sounds familiar, you've been
- 28:26Speaker 1: paying incredible attention because this is pretty close to a
- 28:33Speaker 1: complete reenactment of the script for the episode commonly known
- 28:38Speaker 1: among fans as Eric Kelby. It is the second nineteen
- 28:44Speaker 1: forty nine Dragonet episode to be restaged within about a
- 28:51Speaker 1: four month period. Well, the Big overtime made some important
- 28:56Speaker 1: changes from the nineteen forty nine version. This story is
- 29:02Speaker 1: pretty much straight up in terms of every single plot point,
- 29:07Speaker 1: the tone, everything, as far as I can tell, is
- 29:10Speaker 1: the same. Other than the names of the people involved.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I'd be interested to know the reason for the changing names.
- 29:21Speaker 1: It's a bit of an odd decision. Script for uses
- 29:24Speaker 1: are certainly quite common, but just tweaking names when you're
- 29:29Speaker 1: on the same series and you're redoing a script from
- 29:33Speaker 1: two years ago or two and a half years ago,
- 29:37Speaker 1: seems like an odd choice. All right, Well, listener comments
- 29:41Speaker 1: and feedback now, and we have some comments regarding the
- 29:46Speaker 1: big phone call, and we start on Patreon with Jeff,
- 29:49Speaker 1: who writes, why is there no attorney with the alleged
- 29:52Speaker 1: thief during this rather hardcore interrogation? Because this episode predates
- 29:59Speaker 1: Miranda Rights, I think that's part of it. Now, this
- 30:03Speaker 1: episode illustrates that you could have a lawyer present, but
- 30:11Speaker 1: you needed to plan for it. So in this case,
- 30:15Speaker 1: I think it's fair to say that the big phone
- 30:17Speaker 1: call and arrest wasn't expected. And he also didn't have
- 30:21Speaker 1: anybody watching out or any plan that he would ever
- 30:26Speaker 1: be caught, who would clue in a lawyer. As we
- 30:30Speaker 1: heard in this episode, it could still be quite a
- 30:34Speaker 1: challenge for the police, even if they don't have to
- 30:37Speaker 1: notify people of their constitutional rights and make sure a
- 30:44Speaker 1: lawyer can be present during questioning. If a suspect is prepared,
- 30:50Speaker 1: they can have a lawyer ready to go. Dawn ask,
- 30:55Speaker 1: do you have to call dial nine to call outside?
- 30:59Speaker 1: And and this is from Spotify, A random Spotify user replied,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I'll listen to the episode again. I'm not sure that
- 31:07Speaker 1: he's said. Well, that was definitely a point, and I yeah,
- 31:14Speaker 1: I don't know the reason for it. If it was,
- 31:16Speaker 1: you know, just kind of to increase the pressure by
- 31:21Speaker 1: continually having that reminder. But we did learn that lesson now.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I have never had, and hopefully never will have in
- 31:30Speaker 1: occasion to have to make a call from police headquarters
- 31:37Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. If I do, I expect I will
- 31:41Speaker 1: have to dial nine to get an outside line. And
- 31:44Speaker 1: if I don't, what are we even doing here over
- 31:49Speaker 1: on YouTube? I want to thank James for hitting the
- 31:52Speaker 1: hot button on the episode The Big Honeymoon. Truly appreciate
- 31:57Speaker 1: that and that's another way to help the YouTube channel
- 32:03Speaker 1: episodes get out there, and Cuthbert writes, Dragnet never gets old,
- 32:08Speaker 1: indeed it doesn't. Well, now it's time to thank our
- 32:12Speaker 1: Patreon supporter of the day, and I want to go
- 32:16Speaker 1: ahead and think I want to thank Peter, Patreon supporter
- 32:20Speaker 1: since April twenty twenty, currently supporting the podcast at the
- 32:25Speaker 1: Shawmus level of four dollars or more per month. Thanks
- 32:28Speaker 1: so much for your support. That'll do it for today.

- 32:40Speaker 1: the podcast wherever you download it from. We'll be back
- 32:44Speaker 1: next Thursday with another episode of Dragnet. But join us
- 32:47Speaker 1: back here tomorrow for yours truly. Johnny dollar ware.
- 32:52Speaker 8: Ah, what's the big problem?
- 32:53Speaker 14: A little matter of a liquor star holder. Well, I'm
- 32:56Speaker 14: afraid this one wasn't so little. Then tell me on,
- 32:59Speaker 14: Yes you do, Johnny. For some reason or another, these
- 33:04Speaker 14: places that sell bottle goods are a pretty frequent target
- 33:07Speaker 14: for stick ups here in Los Angeles.
- 33:09Speaker 8: There have been quite a few of them over the years.
- 33:11Speaker 14: I'm surprised you insure them, and needless to say, premiums
- 33:14Speaker 14: are pretty high, and at least as far as our
- 33:16Speaker 14: company is concerned, the policies are somewhat limited. That is,
- 33:19Speaker 14: in so far as maximum allowable coverage is concerned, makes sense.
- 33:23Speaker 14: And the whole we've been pretty lucky. But that I mean,
- 33:25Speaker 14: we've had to pay off relatively few claims. But now
- 33:29Speaker 14: in the case of Willie Layman, whose lam his stories
- 33:32Speaker 14: are in West Los Angeles at one out ninety two
- 33:35Speaker 14: to one Santa Monica Boulevard, and that's only about a
- 33:37Speaker 14: mile from where I'm staying. The old man opened up
- 33:40Speaker 14: his place late in nineteen fifty one. Huh yes, sixty one,
- 33:44Speaker 14: very nineteen fifty two. He had his first hold of it.
- 33:47Speaker 14: The bandit's got away with something over nine hundred dollars,
- 33:51Speaker 14: so he bought some insurance from us.
- 33:53Speaker 11: We'll go on.
- 33:54Speaker 8: Since then there have been seven more attempted stick ups
- 33:56Speaker 8: there a total of eight in as many years. And
- 34:00Speaker 8: your company must be getting of a tie of pan off. No,
- 34:03Speaker 8: because after the second time he know how to use it.
- 34:06Speaker 8: He certainly did.
- 34:08Speaker 14: He had a lot of metals from some germanis that
- 34:10Speaker 14: he was in during the last war. Anyhow, he suffered
- 34:13Speaker 14: no more losses, that is until last night. Ah, how
- 34:16Speaker 14: much good money?
- 34:18Speaker 4: What else?
- 34:19Speaker 14: Something like over four hundred dollars out of the cash
- 34:22Speaker 14: register as nearly as the police can figure it from
- 34:23Speaker 14: the register.
- 34:24Speaker 8: Slip or couldn't Layman tell you how much? No, because
- 34:27Speaker 8: you see Johnny, he also lost his life.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I hope you'll be with us then in the meantime.
