• 0:01
Speaker 1: Did you see these people on my right the way
• 0:03
Speaker 1: that you said some of them? How about Omar screaming, screaming,
• 0:09
Speaker 1: screaming like a lunatic.
• 0:11
Speaker 2: You looked at her, bulging eyes. She's crazy. Get it
• 0:14
Speaker 2: the hell out of here, the Omar and her friends
• 0:18
Speaker 2: and her little friends.
• 0:20
Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
• 0:24
Speaker 4: Good Saturday morning. Nice to have you with us on
• 0:26
Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Update. And we've got one big
• 0:28
Speaker 4: story for you. President Trump Say the Union, Well, we
• 0:31
Speaker 4: now know if it connected with voters. And the big
• 0:34
Speaker 4: question is did the president get a real bump in
• 0:36
Speaker 4: the polls, the data. We've got it all for you.
• 0:39
Speaker 4: It's the forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
• 0:42
  Speaker 3: Story number one.
• 0:43
Speaker 4: We've got new data out about the performance of Donald
• 0:47
Speaker 4: Trump as president United States of America and the State
• 0:50
Speaker 4: of the Union address. And the numbers, well, they're exactly
• 0:54
Speaker 4: what I expected. Donald Trump's post Stay the Union approval
• 0:59
Speaker 4: rating has now jumped to fifty one percent. That isn't
• 1:04
Speaker 4: a poll taken entirely after the President's triumphant say of
• 1:08
Speaker 4: the Union on Tuesday night. The new survey that came
• 1:12
Speaker 4: out was more than one thousand likely voters between February
• 1:17
Speaker 4: the twenty fourth and the twenty six and had found
• 1:19
Speaker 4: that forty seven point one percent of those polled strongly
• 1:23
Speaker 4: approved of the job of the president was doing well.
• 1:26
Speaker 4: Three point seven percent said they approved. Trump's disapproval ratings
• 1:31
Speaker 4: sits at forty eight percent, not surprising because we're a
• 1:34
Speaker 4: very divided country. The number, by the way, is made
• 1:37
Speaker 4: up of thirty nine point one percent who strongly disapprove
• 1:41
Speaker 4: of President Trump and what he's doing. That's your radical left,
• 1:44
Speaker 4: the socialist, Marxist and communists. Well, eight point five percent
• 1:48
Speaker 4: merely disapproved. Now, this poll is one that is significant
• 1:54
Speaker 4: because it shows that the present obviously did what he
• 1:56
Speaker 4: needed to do at that speech, talking to Americans and
• 2:01
Speaker 4: making sure that he feels like Americans have pride in
• 2:04
Speaker 4: their country. Part of what the President talked about.
• 2:08
Speaker 1: Two hundred and fifty years is a long time in
• 2:11
Speaker 1: the life of a nation, But in other sense, it's
• 2:14
Speaker 1: really a mere moment in the eye of history. Two
• 2:18
Speaker 1: of the gentlemen we met in the gallery this evening
• 2:21
Speaker 1: took their first breaths one century ago. One hundred years
• 2:25
Speaker 1: before that, on July fourth, eighteen twenty six, the author
• 2:30
Speaker 1: of the Declaration of Independence, brilliant Thomas Jefferson, to his
• 2:36
Speaker 1: last breath. Just a single long human lifespan separates the
• 2:41
Speaker 1: giants who declared and won our independence from the heroes
• 2:46
Speaker 1: who stand among us tonight. Everything our nation has done,
• 2:50
Speaker 1: everything we have achieved, has been the work of those
• 2:53
Speaker 1: few great lifetimes. In those brief chapters, Americans built this
• 2:58
Speaker 1: nation from thirteen colonies into the pinnacle of human civilization
• 3:04
Speaker 1: and human freedom, the strongest, wealthiest, most powerful, most successful
• 3:08
Speaker 1: nation in all of history. Americans ventured out across the
• 3:14
Speaker 1: daunting and dangerous continent. We carved, passed through an unforgiving wilderness,
• 3:21
Speaker 1: settled a boundless frontier, and tamed the beautiful but very
• 3:25
Speaker 1: very dangerous wild West. From empty marshes and wide open plains,
• 3:32
Speaker 1: we raised up the world's greatest cities. Together, we mastered
• 3:37
Speaker 1: the world's mightiest industries and shattered histories monstrous tyrannies, and
• 3:43
Speaker 1: we liberated millions from the chains of fascism, communism, oppression,
• 3:48
Speaker 1: and terror. Americans lifted humanity into the skies on the
• 3:52
Speaker 1: wings of aluminum and steel, and then we launched mankind
• 3:56
Speaker 1: into the stars on rockets powered by sheer American will
• 4:01
Speaker 1: and unyielding American pride. We wired that lobe with our ingenuity,
• 4:08
Speaker 1: We captivated the planet with American culture, and now we
• 4:12
Speaker 1: are pioneering the next great American breakthroughs that will change
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: the entire world.
• 4:19
Speaker 2: All of this and.
• 4:20
Speaker 1: So much more is the enduring legacy, unmatched glory of
• 4:25
Speaker 1: the hard working patriots who built and defended this country,
• 4:30
Speaker 1: and who still carry the hopes and freedoms on all
• 4:34
Speaker 1: of humanity's backs. For years, they were forgotten, betrayed, and
• 4:39
Speaker 1: cast aside. But that great betrayal is over and they
• 4:42
Speaker 1: will never be forgotten again. Because when the world needs courage, daring,
• 4:47
Speaker 1: vision and inspiration, it is still turning to America. And
• 4:53
Speaker 1: when God needs a nation to work his miracles, he
• 4:57
Speaker 1: knows exactly who to ask. There is no challenge Americans
• 5:02
Speaker 1: cannot overcome, no frontier too vast for us to conquer,
• 5:07
Speaker 1: no dream too bold for us to chase, no horizon
• 5:12
Speaker 1: too distant for us to claim. For our destiny is
• 5:16
Speaker 1: written by the hand of Providence, and these first two
• 5:20
Speaker 1: hundred and fifty years were just the beginning. From the
• 5:24
Speaker 1: rugged border towns of Texas to the heartland villages of Michigan,
• 5:29
Speaker 1: from the sun kissed shores of Florida to the endless
• 5:32
Speaker 1: fields of the Dakotas, and from the historic streets of
• 5:37
Speaker 1: Philadelphia to right here in our nation's capital, Washington, d C.
• 5:42
Speaker 1: The Golden Age of America is upon us. The revolution
• 5:46
Speaker 1: that began in seventeen seventy six has not ended. It
• 5:51
Speaker 1: still continues because the flame of liberty and independence still
• 5:56
Speaker 1: burns in the heart of every American patriot. And our
• 6:00
Speaker 1: future will be bigger, better, brighter, bolder, and more glorious
• 6:04
Speaker 1: than ever before. Thank you, God bless you, and God
• 6:09
  Speaker 1: bless America.
• 6:15
Speaker 4: It was that type of messaging during the City Union
• 6:18
Speaker 4: that made so many Americans remember exactly why they voted
• 6:21
Speaker 4: for Donald Trump in the first place. The President talking
• 6:24
Speaker 4: about so many of his successes and what is happening
• 6:27
Speaker 4: right now with no tax on tips, no tax on overtime,
• 6:31
Speaker 4: getting rid of regulations that will over the costs of cars,
• 6:34
Speaker 4: for example, all major things the President is talking about.
• 6:38
Speaker 4: He also spent time talking about how important it is
• 6:41
Speaker 4: that Americans aren't having to compete with massive corporations for housing,
• 6:46
Speaker 4: standing up for so many Americans, and the way that
• 6:50
Speaker 4: President Trump talked about. It was clear he was putting
• 6:53
Speaker 4: Americans first, ahead of corporations who were buying up so
• 6:57
Speaker 4: many houses and making it unaffordable for many Americans to
• 7:01
Speaker 4: get in the home buying process for the very first time.
• 7:05
Speaker 4: Just take a listen to President Trump talking about this
• 7:07
Speaker 4: issue at the Say of the Union.
• 7:09
Speaker 1: Make that band permanent because home is for people. Really,
• 7:14
Speaker 1: that's what we want, homes for people, not for corporations.
• 7:17
Speaker 2: Corporations to doing just fine.
• 7:19
Speaker 1: Racel, Thank you very much, Good luck with you home
• 7:22
Speaker 1: You'll get one, sir.
• 7:32
Speaker 4: Now, this wasn't just a line that the President wanted
• 7:34
Speaker 4: to deliver in the Say of the Union to check
• 7:36
Speaker 4: a box. This is something the President is actually working
• 7:39
Speaker 4: very hard on. The President saying this at the World
• 7:43
Speaker 4: Economic Forum back at the end of January.
• 7:46
Speaker 2: Home ownership has always been a symbol of health and
• 7:50
Speaker 2: vigor of American society. But that goal fell out of
• 7:54
Speaker 2: reach for millions and millions of people in the Biden
• 7:57
Speaker 2: ear because interest rates went up so high. Today, I'm
• 8:01
Speaker 2: taking action to bring back this bedrock of the American dream.
• 8:05
Speaker 2: In recent years, Wall Street giants and institutional investment firms,
• 8:09
Speaker 2: many of you are here. Many of you are good
• 8:11
Speaker 2: friends of mine. Many of you are supporter. Sorry to
• 8:13
Speaker 2: do this, I'm so sorry, but you've driven up housing
• 8:17
Speaker 2: prices by purchasing hundreds of thousands of single family homes
• 8:20
Speaker 2: and it's been a great investment for them, often as
• 8:24
Speaker 2: much as ten percent of houses on the market. You know.
• 8:27
Speaker 2: The crazy thing is a person can't get depreciation on
• 8:30
Speaker 2: the house, but when a corporation buys it, they get depreciation. Okay,
• 8:34
Speaker 2: that's something we're going to have to think about too.
• 8:36
Speaker 2: I don't know if too many people think about that.
• 8:38
Speaker 2: You buy a corporation, they buy five hundred houses, they
• 8:42
Speaker 2: buy hundreds of thousands, they buy five hundred houses, they
• 8:45
Speaker 2: can take depreciation. A person sweats and works and buys
• 8:50
Speaker 2: one house, they can't. But homes are built for people,
• 8:54
Speaker 2: not for corporations. And America will not become a nation
• 8:57
Speaker 2: of renters. We're not going to do that. That's why
• 9:00
Speaker 2: I have signed and executive order banning large institutional addresses
• 9:04
Speaker 2: from buying single family homes. It's just not fair to
• 9:07
Speaker 2: the public. They're they're not able to buy a house.
• 9:12
Speaker 2: And I'm calling on Congress to pass that band into
• 9:15
Speaker 2: permanent loan and I think they.
• 9:16
Speaker 4: Will it's clear the President Trump has made this a
• 9:21
Speaker 4: priority for the midterm elections. It's exactly why he's campaigning
• 9:24
Speaker 4: on this issue, and it's exactly why, by the way,
• 9:27
Speaker 4: his approval rating went up in a significant way after
• 9:30
Speaker 4: the State of the Union, because not only is President
• 9:33
Speaker 4: Trump saying we want to put Americans first, he's also
• 9:37
Speaker 4: saying it's time to stop having Congress make it harder
• 9:40
Speaker 4: on you to buy a home. Donald Trump putting out
• 9:43
Speaker 4: a true social tweet saying quote, for a very long time,
• 9:46
Speaker 4: buying and owning a home was considered a pinnacle of
• 9:48
Speaker 4: the American dream. It was the reward for working hard
• 9:53
Speaker 4: and doing the right thing. But now, because of the
• 9:56
Speaker 4: record high inflation caused by Joe Biden and the demicocrats
• 10:00
Speaker 4: in Congress, the American dream is increasingly out of reach
• 10:04
Speaker 4: for far too many people, especially younger Americans. It is
• 10:09
Speaker 4: for that reason and much more, that I am immediately
• 10:12
Speaker 4: taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more
• 10:17
Speaker 4: single family homes, and I will be calling on Congress
• 10:21
Speaker 4: to codify it people live in homes, not corporations. I
• 10:25
Speaker 4: will discuss this topic, including further housing and affordability proposals,
• 10:30
Speaker 4: and more at my speech in Davos in two weeks,
• 10:34
Speaker 4: and then he did it again in the State of
• 10:36
Speaker 4: the Union. Trump also going after the US housing market
• 10:40
Speaker 4: and talking exactly about why these corporations need to be watched.
• 10:45
Speaker 4: A great example of this is after President Trump announces
• 10:48
Speaker 4: banning single family home purchases by institutional investors. Within minutes,
• 10:54
Speaker 4: Blackstone Stock erased as much as seventeen billion dollars because
• 11:00
Speaker 4: I will realize that the presence onto what's happening with
• 11:02
Speaker 4: his institutional investors and now calling on Congress to ban
• 11:06
Speaker 4: investment firms buying homes is exactly what the American people needed.
• 11:12
Speaker 4: They need it to make sure they can take care
• 11:13
Speaker 4: of themselves and become first time home buyers. That's why
• 11:18
Speaker 4: this is such an important conversation and again why I
• 11:22
Speaker 4: think so many Americans are like Donald Trump is my president.
• 11:26
Speaker 4: I'm proud of him, and he's standing out for all
• 11:29
Speaker 4: of us and trying to make it easier for us
• 11:32
Speaker 4: to live in the greatest country in the world.
