- Lucas: Luna, welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo. Ready for another tiny lesson? Luna: Always ready, Lucas! What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to talk about temperature. Two very useful adjectives: panas and sejuk. Luna: Panas and sejuk... I think I've heard those before. Let me guess — panas is hot and sejuk is cold? Lucas: Exactly! Panas means hot. Sejuk means cold. Say them with me: panas. Luna: Panas. Lucas: Good. And sejuk. Luna: Sejuk. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's use them in simple sentences. If you have a glass of hot water, you say: Air ini panas. Luna: Air ini panas. The water is hot. Lucas: Right. And if the water is cold: Air ini sejuk. Luna: Air ini sejuk. So air is water, and ini means this. Lucas: You've got it. Let's practice a scene. Imagine you're at a kopitiam, and you order a coffee. The waiter brings it. You touch the cup and say... Luna: Air ini panas! Because it's hot coffee. Lucas: Exactly. But if you order an iced tea, you might say: Air ini sejuk. Luna: Air ini sejuk. I love iced tea. Lucas: Me too. Now let's talk about the weather. If it's a hot day, you say: Hari ini panas. Luna: Hari ini panas. Today is hot. Lucas: And if it's cold: Hari ini sejuk. Luna: Hari ini sejuk. So we can use panas and sejuk for both things and weather. Lucas: Yes. Let's do a quick drill. I'll say a phrase, you translate. Air ini panas. Luna: This water is hot. Lucas: Hari ini sejuk. Luna: Today is cold. Lucas: Great. Now you try saying the Malay. 'This water is cold.' Luna: Air ini sejuk. Lucas: Perfect. 'Today is hot.' Luna: Hari ini panas. Lucas: You're a natural. Luna: I think all that practice is paying off. Hey, can I ask you something? Lucas: Sure, go ahead. Luna: If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with this language... Honestly, if today was worth a coffee to you, that's the link — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Yeah, it's a small way to keep the show ad-free and coming every day. We really appreciate it. Luna: Totally. No pressure, but if you feel like it, it helps. Lucas: Okay, back to panas and sejuk. Let's try a little conversation. I'll be the waiter, you be the customer. You order a drink, and I'll describe it. You respond with either 'panas' or 'sejuk'. Ready? Luna: Ready! Lucas: Selamat pagi. Ini teh tarik. Luna: Oh, teh tarik is pulled tea. Is it hot or cold? Lucas: It's hot usually. So: Air ini panas. Luna: Ah, so I say 'Air ini panas' if I'm confirming it's hot. Lucas: Exactly. But if you wanted iced teh tarik, you'd say 'Air ini sejuk'. Luna: Right. So for a hot day, I'd want the sejuk version. Lucas: Yes. Let's do one more round. I'll say a sentence, you tell me if it's panas or sejuk. Kopi ini panas. Luna: That's hot — panas. Lucas: Ais krim ini sejuk. Luna: Ice cream is cold — sejuk. Lucas: Sup ini panas. Luna: Soup is hot — panas. Lucas: You did it. Now you can describe temperature in Malay. Luna: It feels good to use these words. I'll definitely use them when I order drinks or talk about weather. Lucas: That's the goal. Thanks for learning with Fexingo. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time. Luna: Bye bye! Selamat tinggal!
