- 2:57Speaker 2: just an amazing weekend. Before we take a dive this morning,
- 3:03Speaker 2: I want to say I want to say this, being
- 3:07Speaker 2: that it is Monday. Some of us come out of
- 3:10Speaker 2: the weekend and we've got the rain and the clouds
- 3:15Speaker 2: and we're a little down. Maybe we had kind of
- 3:18Speaker 2: a crappy weekend. Just remember this. I want to give
- 3:21Speaker 2: a plug to one of our presenting sponsors, and they
- 3:25Speaker 2: have been for a long time, Washington County Mental Health.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Just remember this on a Monday morning, whether you've had
- 3:31Speaker 2: coffee or not, that it's going to be a better day.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I hope it will be for you anyway. Better mental
- 3:41Speaker 2: health is achievable. It's possible. If you're going through a
- 3:44Speaker 2: rough patch right now, and by god, we all do.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Just take it one hour at a time. Maybe give
- 3:52Speaker 2: a phone call over to Washington County Mental Health two
- 3:55Speaker 2: two nine five one. Here's the deal. They're open twenty
- 4:00Speaker 2: four hours a day, seven days a week. That means

- 4:05Speaker 2: They don't have to open up a case file on you.
- 4:07Speaker 2: They don't have to find out your name. You can
- 4:09Speaker 2: be anonymous. Just share your thoughts, your feelings. It's that simple.

- 4:23Speaker 2: They have been for over sixty years, serving almost ten
- 4:30Speaker 2: thousand Vermonors every single year, directly and indirectly. And I
- 4:36Speaker 2: want to say that first thing on a Monday morning
- 4:38Speaker 2: because I think it's important, especially when it's kind of
- 4:40Speaker 2: crappy out and it's cloudy and rainy. Birthdays today Reggie Brown,
- 4:44Speaker 2: Jen Metcalf Shallow, Emily Gibbs, and a Clare Bell Ball
- 4:50Speaker 2: Rather these are all local birthdays. Daniel Wilder Junior, Michael Flynn,

- 5:08Speaker 2: Jeff Daniel, Donna Gile Coasty, Kathy Robinson all on the
- 5:14Speaker 2: list today. Forty degrees right now. Some localized downpours earlier
- 5:19Speaker 2: this morning across Central from att Rain's going to be
- 5:22Speaker 2: off and on today going to be mild fifty seven degrees.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Enjoy it? Why because we're gonna get down to thirty
- 5:29Speaker 2: tonight with the rain, great authritis weather right there, and
- 5:33Speaker 2: then tomorrow back to the cold thirty four in cloudy,
- 5:37Speaker 2: thirty two with sun and clouds on Wednesday, Thursday snow
- 5:41Speaker 2: showers and forty same story on Friday. At least we're
- 5:45Speaker 2: not in the Upper Peninsula Lake Superior right now, fifty
- 5:53Speaker 2: to sixty mile an hour winds now with a blizzard.
- 5:58Speaker 2: How much snow is going to be fallen up there
- 6:01Speaker 2: over the next seventy two hours four feet that's four
- 6:06Speaker 2: right there, one two three four. At least we're not there.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Sitting next to me on the curvy couch is this
- 6:15Speaker 2: guy is in? And I refer to you, Gabe, as
- 6:20Speaker 2: the real deal because I feel that way. Man. You
- 6:24Speaker 2: know what you're talking about with a lot of stuff.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Host and let's give you a shameless plug here of
- 6:30Speaker 2: the Abundance Agenda. That's your podcast. Tell me about it.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Yeah, So I launched the Abundance Agenda. You know, if
- 6:38Speaker 3: you think of we've had a lot of conversations about affordability,
- 6:42Speaker 3: and the Abundance Agenda is based on an idea, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 3: kind of came out of some work by the Vermont
- 6:46Speaker 3: Futures Project. There's a great book that's been published by
- 6:49Speaker 3: as Ara Client on abundance. You know, the idea is
- 6:52Speaker 3: we're competing between ideas of scarcity, which is like, hey,
- 6:56Speaker 3: let's tighten our bel let's like cut spending. Let's we
- 6:59Speaker 3: just can't afford stuff anymore. But the challenge with that is,
- 7:03Speaker 3: you know, the more you cut, the more we're in
- 7:05Speaker 3: a downward spiral.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Like we need to make investments.
- 7:07Speaker 3: So the abundance agenda is about where can we make
- 7:09Speaker 3: smart investments in our community to try to make something
- 7:12Speaker 3: awesome for the next generation.
- 7:14Speaker 2: RIGHTA.
- 7:14Speaker 3: We got to we got to turn something over that
- 7:16Speaker 3: was better than we were handed.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what it's all about.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Fertilizer on the plants, man, We need to we need
- 7:22Speaker 2: more growth and sustainability here in front of for sure.
- 7:26Speaker 2: And you and I've chatted about this a little bit
- 7:29Speaker 2: on the air, and I look forward to having you
- 7:31Speaker 2: back and taking a deeper dive on it because here
- 7:34Speaker 2: we go, I mean, springtime's right in front of us,
- 7:36Speaker 2: and we're breaking ground on some really exciting new projects.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Oh, there's a lot of really good stuff going on. Yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 3: I'll tell you, Barry has a lot going on, a
- 7:45Speaker 3: lot going on. But you know, all of our communities
- 7:47Speaker 3: they're working hard. People are working hard, They're rolling their
- 7:49Speaker 3: sleeves up. There's some exciting stuff going on. I'm on
- 7:51Speaker 3: pilliure sure. I mean a lot of the communities are
- 7:53Speaker 3: trying to figure out how can we tackle the housing
- 7:56Speaker 3: crisis right? How do we tackle affordability? How do we
- 7:58Speaker 3: create an environment where people can afford to live and
- 8:01Speaker 3: want to be?
- 8:01Speaker 2: Right? So and literally I could talk with you about
- 8:06Speaker 2: this all day. I could sit down and go four
- 8:08Speaker 2: or five straight hours with you about this. I mean,
- 8:10Speaker 2: look what they're doing over in Berlin with the with
- 8:12Speaker 2: the the mini homes over there. I mean that was
- 8:15Speaker 2: so cool. That's I love that stuff adyus. That are
- 8:19Speaker 2: pretty good things.
- 8:19Speaker 3: And a lot of good people out there are trying
- 8:21Speaker 3: to make a difference.
- 8:22Speaker 2: So yeah, good stuff, man, And so let's do this again,
- 8:25Speaker 2: yeah soon doing not listen? I have First of all,
- 8:32Speaker 2: you are your local guy. Where'd you go to high school?
- 8:37Speaker 4: I grew up night.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Here, No, I grew up in New Hampshire, all right,
- 8:39Speaker 3: I we we landed in Vermont. It's been fourteen years.
- 8:43Speaker 3: All right, I'm sure you want to talk about my
- 8:45Speaker 3: background a little bit. But I was an Air Force
- 8:47Speaker 3: officer and my last post was over at Norwich Teaching RTC.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Wow.
- 8:50Speaker 3: So I landed there and then launched a financial advisory
- 8:53Speaker 3: practice and you know, I've been here ever since.
- 8:55Speaker 5: So we live in a Montpelier Air Force. Air Force Yeah, wow,
- 8:59Speaker 5: thank you for your service. You you have spent a
- 9:04Speaker 5: great amount of time in the Middle East. Tell us
- 9:09Speaker 5: about what that is. We're talking about a couple of
- 9:13Speaker 5: decades in the Middle East.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Well, I mean I've spent I spent you know, outside
- 9:19Speaker 3: of my first two years, probably the rest of my
- 9:21Speaker 3: career was focused on the Middle East. There's a lot
- 9:24Speaker 3: of touch points, you know, like think about it, like
- 9:27Speaker 3: just think of where the world was, you know. I
- 9:29Speaker 3: got commissioned in ninety four, my first post overseas was
- 9:33Speaker 3: in ninety six in Turkey, and then pretty quickly after
- 9:36Speaker 3: that we ended up nine to eleven. Just think of
- 9:39Speaker 3: everything that happened after that, right. I retired in twenty fifteen,
- 9:42Speaker 3: So yeah, everything was touched by the Middle East. I
- 9:45Speaker 3: got a master's in Middle Eastern studies, and yeah, I
- 9:47Speaker 3: probably have like about six years of living overseas and
- 9:51Speaker 3: then you know the rest of my career was you know,
- 9:53Speaker 3: I did a bunch of staff work at the Pentagon
- 9:56Speaker 3: on the Middle East. I mean, you know I've done
- 9:57Speaker 3: a lot of Middle East stuff.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Let's just say that six years.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was five ish.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, I had well, so I had a year
- 10:04Speaker 3: on the Yeah, it's it's complicated, but yes, I was
- 10:07Speaker 3: on the Joint staff for three years. I was actually
- 10:08Speaker 3: the Iranian desk officer for part of that, working over
- 10:12Speaker 3: at the White House and all that kind of stuff.
- 10:14Speaker 2: So you were you were literally briefing the White House.
- 10:19Speaker 3: So the way that works, right, Like I was just
- 10:22Speaker 3: at that time, I was a major. Yeah, there's you
- 10:24Speaker 3: got staff officers that are like supposed to be expert
- 10:27Speaker 3: in a lane. Right, So I was there on desk officer,
- 10:30Speaker 3: and so I would meet with other sort of mid
- 10:32Speaker 3: level people, Like if we went over to the White
- 10:34Speaker 3: House situation room, We're meet with other mid level people.
- 10:36Speaker 3: But I would brief the chairman and the vice chairman
- 10:39Speaker 3: when they would go over to brief the president, right,
- 10:41Speaker 3: so we'd get them ready for the bigger meetings, and
- 10:43Speaker 3: we'd attend sort of they call them working groups. We'd
- 10:45Speaker 3: be in the working groups sort of hashing out, you know,
- 10:47Speaker 3: making the sausage right. And then and then we'd provide
- 10:50Speaker 3: our bosses with what they needed to inform the president.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Holy moly, that's a lot. That's that's crazy impressive. Man.
- 11:00Speaker 4: I prayed every day.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, Like, I think everybody that was
- 11:03Speaker 3: there just felt like we have the whole you know,
- 11:05Speaker 3: we got the whole country in our hands. We've got
- 11:07Speaker 3: all of our service members in our hands.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:09Speaker 3: I was there, you know, like most of the folks,
- 11:12Speaker 3: they were coming out of Iraq. It was a pretty
- 11:14Speaker 3: tough time in Iraq. I started on the Iraq desk.
- 11:18Speaker 3: A lot of folks had seen a lot of friends die.
- 11:21Speaker 3: These are the people that I was working with, rubb
- 11:23Speaker 3: and shoulders with every day. People would just come out
- 11:25Speaker 3: of command in really tough, tough places, and so yeah,
- 11:30Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know that I was alone and
- 11:31Speaker 3: praying every day. I felt like, boy, we really need
- 11:34Speaker 3: to do good for our people, Like how do we
- 11:36Speaker 3: make the best decisions?
- 11:37Speaker 4: And really complicated situations.
- 11:38Speaker 2: So what was going through your mind a couple of
- 11:42Speaker 2: weekends ago? What do we into the third week? I
- 11:46Speaker 2: think now of the war and I ran what was
- 11:49Speaker 2: going through your mind on that? I think it was
- 11:52Speaker 2: a Saturday, maybe an early Sunday morning when you learned,
- 11:58Speaker 2: and maybe you learned like so many others who just
- 12:04Speaker 2: turned on their phones and saw all these World War
- 12:06Speaker 2: three memes that were everywhere that just saturated social media.
- 12:12Speaker 2: But what was going through your mind when you heard
- 12:14Speaker 2: that we were pam and Iran and took out Kamyani.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I was not surprised. I mean, you know, I
- 12:22Speaker 3: was more surprised in January. I mean, you know, we
- 12:25Speaker 3: had probably thirty some thousand Iranians killed and the protests there.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I was more surprised at how little coverage that was
- 12:33Speaker 3: getting in the press, right, Like that was sort of astounding.
- 12:36Speaker 4: You know, you could get it.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Actually, the best reporting on it were being done by
- 12:40Speaker 3: Iranian expats on social media if you wanted to know
- 12:42Speaker 3: it was actually happening. They were in communication with their
- 12:45Speaker 3: families in Iran and they were putting out the best
- 12:48Speaker 3: and it's like, what's the conspiracy here that the Western media,
- 12:51Speaker 3: frankly of the world media didn't want to tell that story.
- 12:54Speaker 4: So you know, you were watching it and there's a lot.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Of people having again, and if you're in sort of
- 12:59Speaker 3: national security, if you follow those feeds and stuff, there
- 13:01Speaker 3: were a lot of people.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Talking about it.
- 13:03Speaker 3: There was a clear build up of forces, you know,
- 13:06Speaker 3: because of the stuff that happened in Venezuela. We clearly
- 13:08Speaker 3: were not positioned well enough to address that when it happened.
- 13:12Speaker 4: And so, yeah, I was not surprised. I think we're all.
- 13:14Speaker 3: In fact, I had thought it was going to happen
- 13:16Speaker 3: several days earlier. But no, I'm not surprised at all.
- 13:21Speaker 2: How long do you think this Operation Epic Fury is
- 13:26Speaker 2: going to last? I mean, initially, within the days of
- 13:30Speaker 2: the beginning of the bombing, President Trump was saying a
- 13:34Speaker 2: couple of weeks, four weeks, A lot of people were
- 13:39Speaker 2: saying wishful thinking. I mean, here we are into the
- 13:43Speaker 2: third week, and it looks like this isn't going to
- 13:46Speaker 2: be even slowing down anytime soon. I mean, we're ramping up.
- 13:52Speaker 2: What do you think about that?
- 13:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm somewhat concerned.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I mean I read a you don't know, like there's
- 13:57Speaker 3: all kinds of leaks, right, who's got the real info? U?
- 14:01Speaker 3: There is an article on the Wall Street Journal over
- 14:02Speaker 3: the weekend that sort of implied that Trump didn't realize
- 14:05Speaker 3: that the straits of horror moves might get jammed up,
- 14:07Speaker 3: Like are.
- 14:08Speaker 4: You kidding me?
- 14:09Speaker 3: Everybody who follows the Middle East knows that's Iran's plan.
- 14:12Speaker 3: If you threaten us, We're going to jam up the
- 14:14Speaker 3: oil like that's been their game plan.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Forever, so, which is twenty percent of the oil distribution
- 14:20Speaker 2: in the world.
- 14:21Speaker 3: It's just it's like, it's that accurate that his advisors
- 14:25Speaker 3: never I mean, I just don't know, right, but I
- 14:28Speaker 3: would say this, like, no, this is you know, when
- 14:31Speaker 3: you when you look at there's been some good reporting
- 14:34Speaker 3: on how Iran pivoted after you know, the attacks last
- 14:37Speaker 3: year on the nuclear facilities, right that they recognize that
- 14:41Speaker 3: they're they were incapable of really defending themselves against Israeli
- 14:45Speaker 3: an American air power, and so they gave directions to
- 14:49Speaker 3: the IRGC, who are sort of their paramilitary they're the
- 14:52Speaker 3: really bad dudes that sponsor all the terrorism. To Hey,
- 14:55Speaker 3: whatever happens to us. You operate independently. You are sort
- 14:59Speaker 3: of a gorilla for you have authority to do whatever
- 15:02Speaker 3: you need to do wherever you are. You don't need
- 15:05Speaker 3: higher level command. And they switch their game plan. And
- 15:08Speaker 3: so when you look at that and you say, okay,
- 15:10Speaker 3: even if the majority of Iranians wanted this regime gone,
- 15:14Speaker 3: the guys that have the guns have been told you
- 15:17Speaker 3: don't need any orders.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Carry on, like do your thing.
- 15:21Speaker 3: And I don't see how in an environment like that
- 15:24Speaker 3: that we think this is over in two or three weeks.
- 15:26Speaker 3: You know, I think best case scenario, what we really
- 15:28Speaker 3: ought to be advocating for is something more akin to
- 15:32Speaker 3: like a containment situation we had in Iraq if you
- 15:35Speaker 3: sort of think of like the Iraq invasion into Kuate
- 15:38Speaker 3: and then you know desert storm and US pushing them back.
- 15:40Speaker 3: We just said, look, you're going to tie them out.
- 15:43Speaker 3: We got we're flying your airspace. You can't kill people
- 15:46Speaker 3: like you're you're under massive sanctions. Nothing is coming in
- 15:50Speaker 3: or going out without our permission. So Tom, you do
- 15:52Speaker 3: whatever you want. We don't care. We're not going to
- 15:54Speaker 3: go in and police you guys. We don't have the
- 15:55Speaker 3: energy to do that, but you're not going to do
- 15:57Speaker 3: any more terrible stuff. That's that's basically where we need
- 16:01Speaker 3: to get to. These other kinds of things, like two weeks,
- 16:03Speaker 3: like are you maybe two weeks we're done all We've
- 16:05Speaker 3: hit all the targets that we can hit from the air.
- 16:08Speaker 3: We're not gonna be done in two weeks. And then
- 16:10Speaker 3: the reality is like there's finally some good reporting on this.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Are we gonna just leave a bunch of nuclear material
- 16:16Speaker 3: in Iran with a bunch of terrorists, Like that's going
- 16:19Speaker 3: to be a major operation. There's gonna be a lot
- 16:21Speaker 3: of special operation. We need to get that nuclear material
- 16:23Speaker 3: out of there.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Where is this uranium rich material right now that apparently
- 16:32Speaker 2: Iran was saying they had enough to make eleven nuclear bombs? Yes,
- 16:39Speaker 2: where is this uranium?
- 16:40Speaker 3: So ostensibly it would be under you know, some bombed
- 16:43Speaker 3: out sites right that we did a lot of damage to,
- 16:46Speaker 3: But there's also reporting that they've moved things, that they've
- 16:48Speaker 3: got covert sites, They've got a lot of stuff. The
- 16:50Speaker 3: reality is we don't know, like I don't. We don't know,
- 16:53Speaker 3: like how good is our intelligence? Clearly Israeli intelligence is
- 16:58Speaker 3: pretty good based on their targeting. How good is our intelligence?
- 17:01Speaker 3: Like we haven't we don't have a significant presence in
- 17:04Speaker 3: Iran and so how good is the information we have?
- 17:06Speaker 3: But certainly, like you think of those major sites like
- 17:08Speaker 3: Naton's and other you know, we need to get in.
- 17:11Speaker 4: Yeah, and we need to clean that place up.
- 17:12Speaker 3: And that is not like a small even if it's
- 17:15Speaker 3: you know, a couple thousand people, it's it's gonna take
- 17:18Speaker 3: a couple of weeks.
- 17:19Speaker 4: You're gonna I mean this, I don't.
- 17:21Speaker 3: I just don't see like the people who are this
- 17:23Speaker 3: is gonna be done in a second, I don't. I
- 17:25Speaker 3: don't see how that how we let that stand. How
- 17:28Speaker 3: we're gonna let physile material just float around?
- 17:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's something I'm wondering. And when I hear this,
- 17:36Speaker 2: I what are the same thing? I mean? Right now,
- 17:39Speaker 2: I think the focus, the the concentration is that we
- 17:44Speaker 2: are taking out or trying to take out, some of
- 17:47Speaker 2: the missions manufacturing units so that they're not able to
- 17:57Speaker 2: continue to shoot. But still we have a much bigger
- 18:00Speaker 2: problem that's in front of us. And look at what's
- 18:04Speaker 2: going on with Russia. Now there's been word for at
- 18:08Speaker 2: least a week now that Russia is providing intel to
- 18:12Speaker 2: why Iran on what America's plan is here.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yeah, if you're an adversary of the United States, this
- 18:20Speaker 3: is such a great opportunity to just jam us up. Yeah, right,
- 18:24Speaker 3: just be like and frankly, look, what have we been
- 18:26Speaker 3: doing with the Ukraine. We don't have any boots on
- 18:27Speaker 3: the ground in the Ukraine. We're training, we're advising, we're
- 18:30Speaker 3: giving them a ton of ton of weapons. Right, We're
- 18:32Speaker 3: causing problems from Russia. I mean, what would you expect
- 18:36Speaker 3: them to do?
- 18:37Speaker 2: Sure?
- 18:37Speaker 3: Right, Like, we're providing targeting information to the Ukrainians, I'm
- 18:41Speaker 3: sure right Like you don't think there's fair play in
- 18:43Speaker 3: that when they turn it around? So, yeah, are there
- 18:46Speaker 3: and there's a lot of danger there right, more from China,
- 18:49Speaker 3: I think necessarily from Russia.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Right, I'm going to ask you about you look at China.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Like the majority of their oil imports coming from Iran
- 18:57Speaker 3: and the relationship that they have there with the Iranian regime.
- 19:02Speaker 3: You know, again, we had we've for some reason, we've
- 19:05Speaker 3: charted out a course of confrontation with China. And you know,
- 19:09Speaker 3: g seems like he's got I'm not an Asia expert
- 19:12Speaker 3: by any means, but he seems like he's got a
- 19:13Speaker 3: path that he's on that he wants to see in
- 19:15Speaker 3: his lifetime to leave his legacy, and we're creating an
- 19:19Speaker 3: I'm just saying, we're creating an opportunity for them. You
- 19:22Speaker 3: think of proxies, like we've always talked about Iran and
- 19:24Speaker 3: they've been happy to use proxies all over the Middle
- 19:27Speaker 3: East to cause problems for US, China and Russia. If
- 19:30Speaker 3: they want proxies, they've got happy proxies right now, you know,
- 19:34Speaker 3: with the IRGC and the besides.
- 19:36Speaker 4: You know, like these.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Guys are so happy to get whatever support they can get, right,
- 19:40Speaker 3: So if you want to cause problems for the United States,
- 19:42Speaker 3: you got an instant place to do it.
- 19:46Speaker 2: What do you uh, what's your thoughts about hamas Hespola,
- 19:54Speaker 2: the who thies that are role that haven't really committed
- 20:00Speaker 2: to jumping into the mix here just yet or as
- 20:05Speaker 2: much as they could. What do you think about?
- 20:08Speaker 3: Oh, I don't I don't know if that's accurate. I
- 20:10Speaker 3: think the reality is that they are decapitated in large
- 20:16Speaker 3: you know matter right that what happened after October seventh,
- 20:20Speaker 3: And you know, the reality is so like back in
- 20:23Speaker 3: the day, and I think there's plenty of public not
- 20:25Speaker 3: the details of the war games, but there was plenty
- 20:27Speaker 3: of public information about war games. Like when I was
- 20:30Speaker 3: when Obama came into office and was trying to figure out, hey,
- 20:32Speaker 3: do we do a negotiated settlement, do we do a strike?
- 20:36Speaker 3: Like everything was on the table, right we had Bush
- 20:38Speaker 3: policy was sort of like kind of containment, and Obama
- 20:41Speaker 3: was like, what do we do?
- 20:42Speaker 4: Right?
- 20:42Speaker 3: The reports are these guys are actively pursuing you know,
- 20:45Speaker 3: a nuclear weapon.
- 20:46Speaker 4: That's the info that we have. What do we do
- 20:48Speaker 4: about that?
- 20:49Speaker 3: And so everything was was sort of looked at and
- 20:51Speaker 3: the wargames just showed a pretty terrible you know, just
- 20:56Speaker 3: a conflagration in the Middle least a regional war because
- 20:59Speaker 3: of all the proxies that Iran had, right, they had
- 21:02Speaker 3: this sort of sunny or she accrescent, you know, they
- 21:05Speaker 3: called it like, you know, just look from Yemen all
- 21:07Speaker 3: the way across into Syria, like this massive amount of
- 21:10Speaker 3: minorities that are all supported, you know.
- 21:12Speaker 4: By the Iranian regime.
- 21:14Speaker 3: But what happened after October seventh was that Israel went
- 21:17Speaker 3: on the offensive, right and you know, just crushed the
- 21:21Speaker 3: moss crushed as well. You know, there's a resurgence and
- 21:23Speaker 3: is wella you always have to be concerned about that.
- 21:25Speaker 3: The who Thi's you know, certainly have shown a capacity
- 21:29Speaker 3: to to you know, create problems for shipping all of
- 21:32Speaker 3: that is like when you look at what Iran has
- 21:35Speaker 3: done over the years. I mean, you know, you're talking
- 21:37Speaker 3: probably you know, one point five to two million people
- 21:41Speaker 3: have been killed by these these proxies that they've used
- 21:44Speaker 3: over time. Do they have the capacity to do that
- 21:46Speaker 3: kind of stuff in the in the moment?
- 21:49Speaker 4: I don't know that they're very strong.
- 21:51Speaker 3: I mean, you know, again, that war gaming that we did,
- 21:54Speaker 3: I think part of the rationale, I don't you know,
- 21:56Speaker 3: we'll find out someday, right all the the conversation that
- 22:00Speaker 3: happened with the president in this decision making process will
- 22:03Speaker 3: come to light. But I think the reality is they
- 22:07Speaker 3: couldn't do what they could have done in the past.
- 22:09Speaker 3: And if you want to do something, this is the moment,
- 22:13Speaker 3: this is the time right to do something. So you know,
- 22:17Speaker 3: I'm not saying they're not going to continue to cause problems.
- 22:19Speaker 4: They will.
- 22:20Speaker 3: It's not what it was, you know, two or three
- 22:24Speaker 3: years ago. Right, They've just been pretty seriously neutered.
- 22:29Speaker 2: There's some pretty calm water, quiet environment right now in
- 22:34Speaker 2: the Strait. I think China has got some boats moving
- 22:38Speaker 2: through there. India has had some movement through there without
- 22:43Speaker 2: any kind of warnings coming from Iran, but they've made
- 22:47Speaker 2: it very clear that the United States is an Israel
- 22:53Speaker 2: It's not going to be moving any containers through there
- 22:56Speaker 2: at all. What do you think is going to happen
- 22:57Speaker 2: to the price of gas? It's already spiking.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Well, I mean, you know, you got all kinds of speculation.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I mean, I think one hundred and fifty dollars a barrel.
- 23:04Speaker 3: We've seen it before, right, can it go there?
- 23:07Speaker 4: People? I saw some economists say two hundred. I mean,
- 23:10Speaker 4: you could it go there?
- 23:12Speaker 2: Eight bucks a gallon is what I'm hearing.
- 23:15Speaker 3: You just think the reality, like whatever you paid on
- 23:18Speaker 3: heating fuel right now, like this year, Like if that's
- 23:22Speaker 3: up a third, it's pretty traumatic to just the average
- 23:26Speaker 3: Vermont or the average American. Right you paid three thousand
- 23:30Speaker 3: dollars for heating fuel and that goes to five thousand
- 23:32Speaker 3: next year. That's a lot of money, right, So I
- 23:34Speaker 3: think there's tremendous pressure on the president try to, you know,
- 23:38Speaker 3: get some resolution. I'm not really confident in the things
- 23:41Speaker 3: that we're seeing. Like, Okay, so we kind of broke it,
- 23:44Speaker 3: and now we're asking international partners to come in and
- 23:46Speaker 3: provide security. I mean, they probably will have to do
- 23:49Speaker 3: it for their own ships, right, Like what are they
- 23:51Speaker 3: going to do? Like sure, but but it's like, wait,
- 23:53Speaker 3: we created this massive problem and then we're not going
- 23:55Speaker 3: to like clean it up, Like to me, you broke it,
- 23:58Speaker 3: you own it. Yeah and again, And I don't quite
- 24:01Speaker 3: understand how we weren't aware that this was probably their
- 24:04Speaker 3: easiest you know, like what you drop some lines, you know,
- 24:08Speaker 3: you send some low cost drones, you know, you catch
- 24:10Speaker 3: a commercial ship on fire, like, yeah, you know, nobody
- 24:14Speaker 3: wants to forget it, like nobody wants to go there.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Insures won't ensure you, Like, it's just got all these
- 24:19Speaker 3: cascading effects, right, right, So yeah, I hope we can
- 24:22Speaker 3: get it cleaned up and cleaned up quickly. But I
- 24:23Speaker 3: think I think trying to pass the buck on everybody else,
- 24:27Speaker 3: I don't think that's going to work. I think we're
- 24:28Speaker 3: gonna have to unfortunately. I think we're going to have
- 24:31Speaker 3: to do some work in there to secure the shipping lanes.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Interesting, And maybe in the meanwhile, get on the
- 24:38Speaker 2: exercise bike and get in shape in and maybe get
- 24:41Speaker 2: a bicycle for a little while this summer, because who
- 24:43Speaker 2: knows what's going to happen. Man, who knows what's gonna
- 24:46Speaker 2: happen at the price again. And I'm not trying to.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Freak remember this, right, like you think back when we
- 24:50Speaker 3: had you know, we had sort of because of the
- 24:53Speaker 3: issues in in Iraq, we had sort of shut down shipping.
- 24:57Speaker 3: I mean you know that's yeah, all those you know,
- 24:59Speaker 3: millions of barrel of oil that were kind of shut
- 25:01Speaker 3: down for a couple of years until they got back
- 25:03Speaker 3: to capacity. And we all, you know, we all remember
- 25:06Speaker 3: what that was like.
- 25:07Speaker 4: And what do we do. We didn't take the trips
- 25:09Speaker 4: we took.
- 25:10Speaker 3: People were doing staycations, right like people start looking at hey,
- 25:13Speaker 3: maybe you set your thermostat at sixty five instead of
- 25:16Speaker 3: sixty eight, right, you just start thinking.
- 25:18Speaker 2: To think about carpooling. The list goes all of it. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I want to ask you about Colmaney's son. Please don't
- 25:28Speaker 2: ask me to pronounce his name, because I've got three
- 25:32Speaker 2: or four different versions and I'm butchering it. There's speculation
- 25:36Speaker 2: that he was taken out in that initial blast with
- 25:39Speaker 2: his dad. There's speculation that he was injured from that
- 25:45Speaker 2: hit and that he's recuperating, still live. We haven't really
- 25:51Speaker 2: seen his We haven't seen his face at all, at
- 25:55Speaker 2: least on our networks anywhere here in America. We've alleged
- 26:01Speaker 2: I'm not sure if we've heard his voice or what
- 26:03Speaker 2: it's we presume is his voice, but we've had a
- 26:07Speaker 2: statement from him that has finally come forward acknowledging that
- 26:11Speaker 2: he is taken over as the leader of Iran, which
- 26:16Speaker 2: his dad did not want him to be at all. Yeah,
- 26:22Speaker 2: for a number of different reasons, one of which there
- 26:25Speaker 2: was a great question of his of his mental health,
- 26:28Speaker 2: he had been through a lot of personal stuff, and
- 26:32Speaker 2: that he was not fit to be the next leader
- 26:34Speaker 2: of Iran. I know that it's kind of default here,
- 26:39Speaker 2: but I wonder what you have to say about this.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I wonder if this is going to stick and if
- 26:46Speaker 2: the Iranian people are satisfied.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Oh I don't.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's fifty six years old.
- 26:52Speaker 3: By the way, I think the reality is, it doesn't
- 26:54Speaker 3: it doesn't matter at this point. You know what it demonstrates.
- 26:57Speaker 3: So you know, if you go back to the ir
- 27:00Speaker 3: Revolution and they were you know, so the Iyahtolahmeni had
- 27:04Speaker 3: written before he ever came to power, had written this
- 27:07Speaker 3: book on political Islam, which you know, he was the
- 27:10Speaker 3: supreme jurist, right, like the top is you know, Shia
- 27:13Speaker 3: Islamic cleric around the world that's sort of revered as
- 27:17Speaker 3: like the pope right for Shea Islam and had advocated
- 27:21Speaker 3: for what you know, a state could look like should
- 27:23Speaker 3: look like according to you know, their interpretations of the
- 27:26Speaker 3: law of God, and so in that formulation, it should
- 27:31Speaker 3: be the top jurists that would assume that role. Right,
- 27:34Speaker 3: that's you know, again that sort of pope type figure.
- 27:37Speaker 3: What you have in moshtab or again however you pronounce
- 27:41Speaker 3: his name, what you have in the sun is somebody
- 27:44Speaker 3: who's propped up by the more radical extreme elements. The
- 27:48Speaker 3: IRGC not did not go through the normal process of
- 27:52Speaker 3: you know that you would come as an iotolo its
- 27:53Speaker 3: to sort of work your way through the ranks and
- 27:55Speaker 3: achieve that sort of prestige and you know that you
- 27:58Speaker 3: have judicial opinions are well reviewed and respected, that you're
- 28:01Speaker 3: a holy man, that you have you know, the following
- 28:03Speaker 3: that it takes right to be at that rank. So
- 28:06Speaker 3: he's you know, basically, what it says is the illergy
- 28:09Speaker 3: seas in charge, the extremists, the radicals are in charge,
- 28:12Speaker 3: and whoever comes after because we could kill a thousand
- 28:15Speaker 3: of them, and they're just going to put somebody else
- 28:17Speaker 3: in charge. That that's I think that's what's relevant, is
- 28:20Speaker 3: that what came out of this is that that idea
- 28:25Speaker 3: that was put forward originally by hominy is not what
- 28:28Speaker 3: exists anymore. What now exists as sort of a police state,
- 28:32Speaker 3: and frankly, it's a lot more dangerous. You know, like
- 28:34Speaker 3: if you think of you know, like when we grew up,
- 28:37Speaker 3: like it was all about all Cada and you know,
- 28:40Speaker 3: sunny extremism and that sort of thing. You know, Iran
- 28:44Speaker 3: was happy to work through proxies and be sort of
- 28:47Speaker 3: you know, have low attribution to what they were doing
- 28:49Speaker 3: as a state, right, they wanted to maintain a state.
- 28:52Speaker 3: If they're in a place where there they are, they
- 28:55Speaker 3: are happy to become the primary.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Actor because they're at war with everyone.
- 28:59Speaker 3: That's super danger that's way more dangerous than al Kada,
- 29:02Speaker 3: way more dangerous than al Kada. You're talking about like,
- 29:04Speaker 3: you know, a couple thousand people that train in some
- 29:06Speaker 3: mountains Afghanistan. No, this is you're talking like hundreds of
- 29:10Speaker 3: thousands of train military folks with hundreds of thousands of
- 29:13Speaker 3: additional guard and you know, would be followers.
- 29:16Speaker 2: That are hundreds of thousands.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Yeah, their whole, their whole, you know, just think of
- 29:20Speaker 3: you know, they're there, they've got regular standing army. But
- 29:24Speaker 3: you know, you think of the IRGC and these are
- 29:27Speaker 3: all people that are true believers in sort of that
- 29:31Speaker 3: radical interpretation.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Of Islam.
- 29:34Speaker 3: And again, there are people have access to physile material,
- 29:37Speaker 3: There are people that have access to war machines. They
- 29:39Speaker 3: have there are people that have alliances with Russia and
- 29:42Speaker 3: China right way more dangerous.
- 29:46Speaker 2: I would say, I before I forget, and I'm sure
- 29:50Speaker 2: you're paying attention, probably already know this, but now we've
- 29:52Speaker 2: got North Korea saying no disrespect Kim. If you listen
- 29:59Speaker 2: in this morning, hey, don't forget about us. We're over here.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Let's hey, guys, let's just fire off a couple of
- 30:06Speaker 2: missiles out into the ocean, just to let everybody know that,
- 30:09Speaker 2: you know, we're still here, pay attention to us. What
- 30:11Speaker 2: do you say about that game? I know it's kind
- 30:13Speaker 2: of a blanket statement, but.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Well, I you know, I think I'm just gonna turn
- 30:17Speaker 3: it maybe just a little bit to talk about, you know,
- 30:19Speaker 3: what has been said about the Iran conflict, which is
- 30:22Speaker 3: you know, and I think it's what gives rise to
- 30:23Speaker 3: people like, you know, whatever vagabond state wants to create,
- 30:29Speaker 3: whatever sort of chaos is that we've gotten into this,
- 30:33Speaker 3: and we've seen it before. We've got into a partisan
- 30:36Speaker 3: situation in domestic politics where it's like we've got one
- 30:40Speaker 3: party like, oh, this is an illegal act of war,
- 30:43Speaker 3: like what are you doing. We've got another party like,
- 30:45Speaker 3: oh no, We're gonna just kill everybody.
- 30:47Speaker 4: I mean, I can't quite.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Understand the extreme positions of either of these, right, But
- 30:51Speaker 3: when you look at what statesman behavior, statesman like behavior
- 30:55Speaker 3: has always been in the past, has always been come
- 30:58Speaker 3: out and explain what you're doing, right, like declassify some information.
- 31:03Speaker 3: I actually have no idea, and I follow this really closely.
- 31:06Speaker 3: There's some reporting that, hey, they were getting ready to
- 31:09Speaker 3: move their phssile material to sites that we were never
- 31:12Speaker 3: going to be able to get to because they're way
- 31:13Speaker 3: too deep and way too secure.
- 31:15Speaker 4: I don't know if that's true or not.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Like they haven't told us the story, right, so come
- 31:19Speaker 3: out and tell us the story. Tell us what the
- 31:21Speaker 3: objectives are, like, what are the objectives?
- 31:24Speaker 4: When is it going to end? Right?
- 31:25Speaker 3: Get some international partners on board. And when you don't
- 31:28Speaker 3: do any of that, when you just come out and
- 31:29Speaker 3: do whatever you want to do and you don't explain
- 31:32Speaker 3: that and you don't do that regular political process, what
- 31:35Speaker 3: it does it allows what you know, again, can Russia
- 31:38Speaker 3: do whatever they want?
- 31:39Speaker 4: We just did.
- 31:40Speaker 3: We didn't feel like we needed to explain ourselves, well,
- 31:43Speaker 3: can China? Can North Korea? Can any rogue regime? Just
- 31:46Speaker 3: do what they want? And say what do you mean? Like,
- 31:49Speaker 3: we didn't need to take this to the UN. We
- 31:51Speaker 3: didn't need to have this conversation. So I think unfortunately
- 31:54Speaker 3: our political system is trying to make this about an
- 31:57Speaker 3: election that's happening this fall and not a about what
- 32:00Speaker 3: it should be. These things are should be non partisan. Look,
- 32:03Speaker 3: it's in nobody's interest for O Run to have a
- 32:04Speaker 3: nuclear weapon. It's in nobody's interest. Again, couple million people killed,
- 32:08Speaker 3: like the entire instability that this regime has caused. Nobody
- 32:12Speaker 3: should be any kind of fan for the Iranian regime. Right.
- 32:15Speaker 3: The fact is this should have probably been done a
- 32:17Speaker 3: lot sooner, but maybe the moment didn't arrive until it arrived, right,
- 32:21Speaker 3: But we should be like, how do we hold the
- 32:24Speaker 3: administration accountable to give US information that we need to understand. Why, right,
- 32:29Speaker 3: I mean, frankly we should. If this is going to
- 32:31Speaker 3: continue as long as I think it will, there should
- 32:33Speaker 3: be a War Powers resolution, right that the Congress puts
- 32:37Speaker 3: forward to have that they need information and they need
- 32:40Speaker 3: to understand the end goals. And this should be non partisan,
- 32:42Speaker 3: Like what do we want? We want free trade? You know,
- 32:45Speaker 3: we'd love to have the run and people free. That's
- 32:47Speaker 3: that's a pipe dream. Like we like, we're not really good.
- 32:51Speaker 3: You know, this thing that you see in Venezuela, that's
- 32:54Speaker 3: probably the only model that the US can pull off.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Take somebody out, Let another strong man. Just lead it,
- 32:59Speaker 3: strong woman, just lead it. Yeah, Like trying to say
- 33:03Speaker 3: that we're gonna there's gonna be some kind of democracy,
- 33:05Speaker 3: Like you know, look how long did we occupy Japan
- 33:08Speaker 3: and Germany after the war? Like are we prepared to
- 33:12Speaker 3: do that? No, we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- 33:15Speaker 3: We are not prepared to do that.
- 33:17Speaker 2: I see some of the comments on Facebook, why is
- 33:21Speaker 2: why is our oil going to be spiking up? Let's
- 33:23Speaker 2: just tap into some of those Venezuela and oils that
- 33:26Speaker 2: we've got.
- 33:29Speaker 4: I mean, it's I mean, I don't know.
- 33:31Speaker 3: It's also applying to man, right, And isn't it funny
- 33:33Speaker 3: that the oil prices all went up like as soon
- 33:35Speaker 3: as things happen. It's like, seriously, did you buy did
- 33:38Speaker 3: you go buy that one hundred dollars barrel of oil
- 33:40Speaker 3: yesterday and just refine it?
- 33:42Speaker 2: Now? All we need is headline for All we need
- 33:45Speaker 2: is say the media controls everything. All we need is
- 33:47Speaker 2: a headline for the price of oil to change. I mean,
- 33:50Speaker 2: we all know that, is right.
- 33:51Speaker 4: It's crazy, right, Yeah.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I shit you a text on March fourth that I
- 33:56Speaker 2: want to read here, and I know you've already kind
- 33:58Speaker 2: of uncovered a little bit of this, but I sent
- 34:00Speaker 2: you text saying did Trump undermine our national security by
- 34:04Speaker 2: not seeking approval from Congress? First? Do you think Congress
- 34:08Speaker 2: would have approved the strike? Do we really believe that
- 34:13Speaker 2: these strikes will ultimately have an effect on the regime
- 34:17Speaker 2: in the ideology in the Middle East? Or is this
- 34:19Speaker 2: just to prevent a nuclear strike from Iran? And that's
- 34:24Speaker 2: been kind of the million dollar question that's been going
- 34:27Speaker 2: around and it's created a lot of divide too, Yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 2: a lot of divide.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Well again, this is you know, we have an election year, right,
- 34:36Speaker 3: and so people unfortunately it's being used to garner votes.
- 34:40Speaker 3: I mean that's the reality. And you know, like, look,
- 34:43Speaker 3: it's the system we live and we understand how it works.
- 34:46Speaker 3: But if we just looked at we all just stepped
- 34:47Speaker 3: back and just said, look, I mean, you know, as
- 34:50Speaker 3: freedom loving Americans, as Vermontors, you know, as people who
- 34:54Speaker 3: care about the human race and also care about our
- 34:57Speaker 3: local community, what do we really need done? We need
- 35:00Speaker 3: we need some accountability, right, and that's really the role
- 35:03Speaker 3: that Congress should be playing.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Yep, Congress, do you feel that Congress also needs to
- 35:11Speaker 2: understand that these windows can suddenly open and close so quickly,
- 35:21Speaker 2: and sometimes we just need to respond for our national
- 35:27Speaker 2: security as quickly as possible without sitting around and having
- 35:31Speaker 2: sitting around the campfire and having a little kumbayad discussion
- 35:34Speaker 2: about this.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Oh, they understand.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I mean, look, you know the reality is you can
- 35:37Speaker 3: look at you know, when you look at partisan politics,
- 35:41Speaker 3: part you know, presidents of every party have done this
- 35:44Speaker 3: kind of thing, right, Like, you know, you look at it,
- 35:47Speaker 3: whether the Balkans or you know, Panama or you know
- 35:49Speaker 3: whatever it is, Like there's all kinds of instances of
- 35:52Speaker 3: presidents using their authority as commander in chief to carry
- 35:55Speaker 3: out limited, short term actions that they think are in
- 35:59Speaker 3: the interest of the United States. Right, so you know
- 36:01Speaker 3: whether that's lawful or not, what's happened is, you know what,
- 36:05Speaker 3: basically nobody wants it to go to the Supreme Court.
- 36:08Speaker 3: So they never really pushed the issue, right, like everybody
- 36:10Speaker 3: can ply. So you texted me that and my answer was, Look,
- 36:13Speaker 3: they brief the Gang of Eight, which is what's required
- 36:16Speaker 3: to do whatever COVID activity was required before. Within forty
- 36:20Speaker 3: eight hours they went in brief Congress, Right, that's what's required.
- 36:23Speaker 3: And again if it's if it's what the President describes
- 36:25Speaker 3: that it's limited, then okay, we did it for this reason, right,
- 36:29Speaker 3: for the weapons program and for you know, the missile
- 36:34Speaker 3: you know, launches into great capability, and you know, whatever
- 36:37Speaker 3: those things are, there's been a lot of them. Actually
- 36:39Speaker 3: the administration is thrown out there, but those those criteria, right,
- 36:43Speaker 3: and then it ends, right, and then it's sort of done.
- 36:44Speaker 3: But I do believe it's gonna this is going to need, uh,
- 36:48Speaker 3: you know, some kind of resolution to allow more whatever
- 36:54Speaker 3: that is. That containment strategy keeping the straits of horror
- 36:56Speaker 3: moves open. I think Congress is going to need to
- 36:58Speaker 3: get on board. And that's going to take briefings to Congress, right,
- 37:01Speaker 3: it's going to take declassification of information. It's going to
- 37:03Speaker 3: take a lot of conversation. And we're not there yet.
- 37:07Speaker 2: And unless Congress science off, troops can only be there
- 37:10Speaker 2: for up to sixty days plus another thirty days to withdraw.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and they've got they do have.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I mean, you know, the Supreme Court has their levers, right,
- 37:18Speaker 3: We're actually seeing it right now with Homeland security. The
- 37:21Speaker 3: lever is we're not funding that, right, that's all I
- 37:24Speaker 3: have to do. We're not passing your defense budget, right,
- 37:27Speaker 3: I mean Gulf of Tonkin resolutions that was decided by
- 37:29Speaker 3: the Supreme Court. Like, you know, you can just do
- 37:32Speaker 3: whatever you want. You're not going to Cambodia. That is
- 37:34Speaker 3: not what we supported. Right, You're not moving on beyond.
- 37:37Speaker 4: What we've said. You can, you can move beyond. So
- 37:39Speaker 4: you know, Congress certainly can do that.
- 37:40Speaker 3: I don't Again, I don't see a lot of accountability.
- 37:44Speaker 3: I see a lot of you know, garnering support for
- 37:48Speaker 3: an election. That's that's kind of what I see.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Interesting. Interesting, you know, I've also seen and heard, and
- 37:55Speaker 2: we're getting a couple of comments here this morning. Someone
- 37:57Speaker 2: to bring this up, you know, And I'm improvising here.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I ran, didn't have their finger on the red button.
- 38:07Speaker 2: This is just an Epstein distraction in Epstein cover up. Look,
- 38:14Speaker 2: I mean, I know that's a big exhale right there
- 38:16Speaker 2: from Cabe.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Look No, I mean, look, I'll tell you, like I
- 38:20Speaker 3: never was a conspiracy theorist about this Epstein stuff. But yeah,
- 38:24Speaker 3: I will say I don't think that's what this is, Okay,
- 38:27Speaker 3: But I will say there, I think there is clearly
- 38:31Speaker 3: an effort by the administration to not release the information
- 38:35Speaker 3: You've had Representative Luna and some others who have I
- 38:38Speaker 3: think the Epstein files really represent probably an operation by
- 38:43Speaker 3: Mosad to compromise you know, senior you know, elites that
- 38:48Speaker 3: have impact, and to put them in compromising situations.
- 38:51Speaker 4: I mean, even from the Clinton I don't know if
- 38:53Speaker 4: you follow any of that.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Right, they got Bill Clinton, you know the story he says, Look,
- 38:57Speaker 3: they invited me to this hotel. Right, they got pictures
- 38:59Speaker 3: of him with getting massage. They have pictures of him
- 39:02Speaker 3: like just taking a swim, and he's like, like, I went
- 39:03Speaker 3: out to the pool for twenty minutes and took a swim.
- 39:05Speaker 4: I don't even know who is there?
- 39:07Speaker 3: What is that about? Why do you have these photos?
- 39:09Speaker 3: You have these photos so you can try to blackmail somebody?
- 39:12Speaker 2: Okay, right, Like but people could could make some AI
- 39:15Speaker 2: stuff of you and I together right now, Yeah, that
- 39:19Speaker 2: same situation. I get it.
- 39:21Speaker 3: But there is a reason that you know, the president
- 39:23Speaker 3: in his campaign was like, we're going to release this stuff,
- 39:26Speaker 3: and then all of a sudden he's like, yeah, you know,
- 39:29Speaker 3: putting the brakes on, and you know, Marge Marjorie Teller
- 39:32Speaker 3: Green and like, there's something there, There's there is a
- 39:34Speaker 3: there there. I don't think that has anything to do
- 39:36Speaker 3: with I think the moment was. I mean, again, the
- 39:39Speaker 3: leaks are, and however good the leaks are, the leaks are.
- 39:42Speaker 3: Israel came and said a couple of things. You know,
- 39:45Speaker 3: probably a couple of weeks prior to look, this is
- 39:47Speaker 3: what we know. They're getting ready to move, like we're
- 39:49Speaker 3: not gonna if we don't do something now, we're not
- 39:51Speaker 3: gonna be able to do it. And then I think
- 39:53Speaker 3: once all the forces were moved in, they had that
- 39:55Speaker 3: critical meeting where it's like, with one strike, we can
- 39:58Speaker 3: take out all these key leaders.
- 40:00Speaker 2: We have to move.
- 40:01Speaker 4: I think that's actually what happened.
- 40:02Speaker 2: It was at like forty leaders something like that. Yeah,
- 40:05Speaker 2: I mean all that we got intel that they're all
- 40:07Speaker 2: getting together in the big House. This if you're gonna fire.
- 40:11Speaker 4: If you're gonna do it anyway, this is the day
- 40:13Speaker 4: to do it right now.
- 40:14Speaker 3: And I think that's the reality of Probably again, we'll
- 40:16Speaker 3: see someday this will all come out, right, But I
- 40:19Speaker 3: assume there's some fact on some.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Of those leaks. Congress hasn't officially declared war since World
- 40:26Speaker 2: War Two? Do you think they will? Oh?
- 40:29Speaker 4: I don't.
- 40:30Speaker 3: I mean, I don't see why they would declare war, right,
- 40:34Speaker 3: I mean, you know, generally what they do is they do,
- 40:36Speaker 3: you know, some kind of War Powers Act, right, they
- 40:38Speaker 3: give some kind of authorization for the use of force.
- 40:42Speaker 3: And I think that's what we appropriate here, and I
- 40:44Speaker 3: think they're going to need to do. I mean, the
- 40:46Speaker 3: Trump administration doesn't seem to want to indicate that this
- 40:49Speaker 3: is gonna be a long term operation. I really do
- 40:51Speaker 3: think that that's a fantasy.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Do you So you don't think this is World War
- 40:57Speaker 2: three in the making?
- 41:00Speaker 3: Again, I think had this happened before all the actions
- 41:04Speaker 3: of the Israelis over the last couple of years. I
- 41:06Speaker 3: think it certainly could have been. I don't think in
- 41:08Speaker 3: the moment it is if there if there's ever a
- 41:11Speaker 3: nuclear weapon, you know, yeah, that would be pretty terrible
- 41:16Speaker 3: to put you know, and even even like a dirty bomb, right,
- 41:19Speaker 3: to put that in the hands of these people. You know,
- 41:21Speaker 3: where could they go? They could destroy New York City,
- 41:23Speaker 3: they could destroy Washington, d C. They could destroy Boston, right.
- 41:26Speaker 2: And we've heard we've heard rumors of of I mean,
- 41:30Speaker 2: Gavin Newsom is talking about this over in California that
- 41:34Speaker 2: there's some possible rumored threats of attacks into California. You've
- 41:40Speaker 2: heard about that.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I've seen I've seen the reporting.
- 41:43Speaker 3: I mean, I you know, I know Trump was asked
- 41:45Speaker 3: about this over the weekend, and I mean, you know,
- 41:48Speaker 3: his indication was, what we've got all that covered, like
- 41:51Speaker 3: we're watching all those people.
- 41:52Speaker 4: We kind of have it.
- 41:53Speaker 3: You know, that puts a lot of confidence in the
- 41:57Speaker 3: FBI that we really know everything that's going down in
- 42:00Speaker 3: the United States. I'm sure we know. I'm sure we
- 42:02Speaker 3: know a lot. Do we know everything? Like I mean,
- 42:05Speaker 3: I you know, that's a little bit of hubris. Again,
- 42:08Speaker 3: I don't think they're at a place. I don't think
- 42:09Speaker 3: they were at that place where they have that sort
- 42:11Speaker 3: of nuclear device. Yeah, can they cause other kinds of chaos? Yeah,
- 42:14Speaker 3: Look we're soft targets. Look at what they're doing in Dubai.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Look what they're doing or you know, like right, yeah, hit,
- 42:19Speaker 3: you hit a you know, think any soft target? Right, Oh,
- 42:23Speaker 3: we we have you know, the Final four. Let's just
- 42:27Speaker 3: launch it, you know, let's just kill ten thousand people.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Like they could do that, right, could they do? We
- 42:32Speaker 3: think they couldn't do that if they wanted to. I mean, again,
- 42:35Speaker 3: hopefully our borders are tight enough. But I think it's
- 42:37Speaker 3: a little hubris to think that we I mean, we
- 42:38Speaker 3: need to be vigilant.
- 42:39Speaker 4: I think is the bottom?
- 42:40Speaker 2: Are we ducking and dodge in this whole girls' school?
- 42:43Speaker 2: Tom Hawk hit?
- 42:45Speaker 3: I don't know, like that's a really good question. I mean,
- 42:47Speaker 3: you know, you're always gonna have collateral damage. It was
- 42:50Speaker 3: so early, like if this had happened now, you know
- 42:53Speaker 3: you could say, oh yeah, maybe you know, maybe it
- 42:55Speaker 3: was just an error, right, maybe we made a big
- 42:58Speaker 3: mistake being as it was. You know, when you think
- 43:01Speaker 3: of early moments in a campaign. The priority is is
- 43:06Speaker 3: air superiority. You need to take out all of the
- 43:09Speaker 3: capability so that you can fly unrestricted airspace, right and
- 43:13Speaker 3: so being so early, I imagine that that school is
- 43:16Speaker 3: adjacent to somewhere nearby something that was a valid target.
- 43:21Speaker 3: How it ended up going into the school If that's
- 43:23Speaker 3: the case, right, I mean again, they have tons of propaganda.
- 43:25Speaker 3: There's all kinds of things that can happen. I don't
- 43:28Speaker 3: think we have the facts on it, so I hate to,
- 43:30Speaker 3: you know, really make a judgment.
- 43:31Speaker 4: We don't even know.
- 43:32Speaker 3: That it was us, but you know it if it was,
- 43:35Speaker 3: it's you know, it's a terrible tragedy. But again, these
- 43:37Speaker 3: kind of things happen if if there was a legitimate
- 43:40Speaker 3: defense target that close to a school, like, shame on
- 43:43Speaker 3: Iran for you know, you basically have human shields.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Is that what you're did? Yeah, Like, I don't know,
- 43:48Speaker 4: pretty terrible it is.
- 43:50Speaker 2: This morning woke up all of the phone and in
- 43:54Speaker 2: my ear about the new targets that Israel, mostly Israel,
- 44:02Speaker 2: but some support from the United States are going to
- 44:04Speaker 2: be focusing on today. Do you ever hear stuff like
- 44:10Speaker 2: this and say, God, you know, this is a no brainer.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Can we talk about this after the targets have been hit?
- 44:17Speaker 2: Do we have to make this known in our media
- 44:23Speaker 2: that these are the targets we're going to be going
- 44:25Speaker 2: after today? I mean, wow, it just seems like I
- 44:31Speaker 2: don't know, man. You know, I know, back in the
- 44:33Speaker 2: seventies and eighties, before the cell phones and the information
- 44:36Speaker 2: age was exploding, you know that we could do stuff
- 44:41Speaker 2: like this and in the news, it seems wasn't as
- 44:51Speaker 2: over zealous as they are today on creating spin and
- 44:58Speaker 2: getting ratings and to be in the first to report
- 45:01Speaker 2: and so on and so forth. But man, it's like,
- 45:04Speaker 2: that's scary to here stuff like that. It just makes
- 45:08Speaker 2: me think, why are we blasting that all over the
- 45:11Speaker 2: media of what our intended targets are first thing in
- 45:15Speaker 2: the morning on a Monday.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I certainly New cycles. I mean, look
- 45:20Speaker 3: at what you're doing, right. You got an amazing show.
- 45:22Speaker 3: By the way, JD. We're so grateful for the work
- 45:23Speaker 3: that you do. You got amazing sponsors. I mean, this
- 45:26Speaker 3: is a great program to have something something like this
- 45:29Speaker 3: in central Vermont that really is talking to the needs
- 45:31Speaker 3: that we have here. But you're an example of the
- 45:35Speaker 3: kind of there's voices out there, right, There's people that
- 45:37Speaker 3: are out there, and what we're seeing is that people
- 45:41Speaker 3: are you know, we're sort of all in our own
- 45:43Speaker 3: echo chamber because of algorithms, right, Like whatever it is
- 45:46Speaker 3: that we want to know about, and here it just
- 45:48Speaker 3: cycles through. And so I think certainly governments are in
- 45:52Speaker 3: a position where they feel like they need to communicate
- 45:54Speaker 3: information into those echo chambers so that their messaging is
- 45:57Speaker 3: getting out. But at the same time, there can be
- 46:00Speaker 3: legitimate military reasons for declaring targets. I mean I had
- 46:02Speaker 3: seen some reporting like over going that they had dropped
- 46:04Speaker 3: some leaflets saying just evacuate this city, right, And I mean,
- 46:09Speaker 3: you know that's a humane thing to do, isn't it,
- 46:11Speaker 3: Like if you know that, hey, we don't know what's
- 46:13Speaker 3: and they did that all. I mean, I have other
- 46:16Speaker 3: feelings about what happened in Gaza, but you know, to
- 46:18Speaker 3: the extent that they did some of that, they sent
- 46:20Speaker 3: leaflets out saying you need to evacuate the city because
- 46:24Speaker 3: tomorrow is going to be really ugly, right, And so
- 46:27Speaker 3: there are human reasons for doing telegraphing some of that
- 46:29Speaker 3: kind of stuff. I mean, the reality is those targets
- 46:32Speaker 3: if you're looking at humans, move right, But if you're
- 46:35Speaker 3: looking at fixed stuff, does it matter, Like it's not
- 46:39Speaker 3: moving and we have air superiority and it's all gonna
- 46:43Speaker 3: go down, you might as you know, like, does it
- 46:44Speaker 3: matter that we reveal the targets? We can do whatever
- 46:47Speaker 3: we want when we want. Does it matter that we've
- 46:49Speaker 3: told them? I don't know that it matters.
- 46:51Speaker 2: I'm seeing so much coming up about it for some reason,
- 46:55Speaker 2: and I'm trying to plank. Haven't that enough coffee? These
- 46:57Speaker 2: bombs that they go up, they go up high four
- 47:01Speaker 2: or five miles, they explode, and then all these little
- 47:03Speaker 2: mini pops come down in cluster cluster, cluster that was
- 47:07Speaker 2: the word that I was trying to think of that
- 47:10Speaker 2: I ran as using those and that Israel is returning
- 47:16Speaker 2: with cluster, which is really ugly stuff. And I was
- 47:21Speaker 2: reading about these cluster bombs and how small they are
- 47:26Speaker 2: and what are they like four or five pounds each?
- 47:29Speaker 2: And when they come down, I mean they they they're
- 47:31Speaker 2: they're not targeted to anything other than let's be honest, civilians,
- 47:36Speaker 2: Am I am? I right? Or just anything anything? Well,
- 47:39Speaker 2: I mean they're not directed it depends on you.
- 47:41Speaker 3: No, they're not direct, they're not. So we have the
- 47:44Speaker 3: ability to do precision strike today, right like we can
- 47:48Speaker 3: go right through the roof of a car and take
- 47:50Speaker 3: out a terrorist leader.
- 47:51Speaker 4: We've demonstrated that. Obama demonstrated that.
- 47:54Speaker 2: The cluster stuff is ugly.
- 47:56Speaker 5: Dude.
- 47:56Speaker 3: You know the I don't know, I don't know enough
- 47:59Speaker 3: about what their target that's our. But you know, if
- 48:01Speaker 3: you had again, if you had the infantry base or
- 48:03Speaker 3: iergy C base, is that that's that's probably legitimate use
- 48:06Speaker 3: of those. Obviously dropping those indiscriminately in places where you'd
- 48:09Speaker 3: have a lot of civilians. I would think that violates
- 48:11Speaker 3: the law of war, right, and so I think, you know,
- 48:16Speaker 3: we look.
- 48:20Speaker 4: Geneva, well, look like we have to be.
- 48:21Speaker 3: This is another place I think where Congress can really
- 48:24Speaker 3: help provide some accountability, right like statements that are made
- 48:29Speaker 3: that sound like we don't care about the lav war,
- 48:31Speaker 3: Like Geneva Conventions, human rights conventions. All these things existed
- 48:35Speaker 3: because you know, eleanor Roosevelt, other great leaders from America
- 48:39Speaker 3: got international partners on board.
- 48:40Speaker 2: All of the.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Things that we appreciate are here because post World War two,
- 48:45Speaker 3: America realized we never wanted to cluster bombing like all us,
- 48:49Speaker 3: you know, blanket blanket attacks on cities, like we don't
- 48:53Speaker 3: want to go there again, right, we want to do
- 48:54Speaker 3: things differently, and so we have lav of war and
- 48:57Speaker 3: we need to, you know, we need to remind people
- 49:00Speaker 3: of how important that is. And again I think that's
- 49:02Speaker 3: a great role for Congress. Those are the kinds of
- 49:04Speaker 3: conversations that I think we should be having.
- 49:06Speaker 2: What do you think Mark Karney, the Prime Minister in
- 49:11Speaker 2: Canada is thinking these days when he gets up and
- 49:13Speaker 2: begins his day with this morning coffee, what do you
- 49:16Speaker 2: think's running through his mind?
- 49:18Speaker 3: I have no idea, you know, really, I think all
- 49:22Speaker 3: of our partners, you know, And I'll just say this, like,
- 49:24Speaker 3: as you know, I was in Iraq, I was in Afghanistan.
- 49:27Speaker 3: I've done a lot of combined, you know, sort of
- 49:29Speaker 3: multinational operations. Our partners are really really important to what
- 49:35Speaker 3: we do. But particularly, and this sounds terrible, but our
- 49:37Speaker 3: Anglo partners are really important.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Right, NATO is cool. It is sort of true, like.
- 49:44Speaker 3: You know, and I'm not I'm not belittling the losses
- 49:47Speaker 3: of somebody like a France or a Germany or whatever,
- 49:49Speaker 3: but they kind of when they come with us, they
- 49:51Speaker 3: kind of protect their own interests. They don't like the
- 49:53Speaker 3: objectives of the campaign and stuff. Ah yeah, maybe they're
- 49:57Speaker 3: sort of on board. Their government voted them there, they
- 49:59Speaker 3: send them there, like we're here. Our Anglo partners are
- 50:03Speaker 3: all in. It's just the way it is.
- 50:05Speaker 4: They are. They're joined with us at the hip. And
- 50:09Speaker 4: so the problem with.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Being a bad partner is will we have that trust
- 50:15Speaker 3: when we need it in the future.
- 50:17Speaker 4: And I do.
- 50:18Speaker 3: I think, you know, Canada and the UK and Australia, like,
- 50:21Speaker 3: we just really need to recognize these are special relationships
- 50:25Speaker 3: that are essential to our security and whether it's economic policy.
- 50:30Speaker 4: I mean, you know again, I'm not.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Saying that we don't have a right to have conversations
- 50:34Speaker 3: about trade barriers and make sure that we have fair
- 50:36Speaker 3: trade or any of that kind of stuff.
- 50:38Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, Carney's pretty ticked off still
- 50:40Speaker 2: about the tariffs man.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I you know again, I think all of us,
- 50:43Speaker 3: we can have our position as the United States, we
- 50:45Speaker 3: can talk about those things. I you know, I do
- 50:48Speaker 3: believe that trade hasn't been super fair for the United
- 50:52Speaker 3: States for a long time, and so I think those
- 50:54Speaker 3: things are worth addressing. But if we just abandon our
- 50:56Speaker 3: partnership and belittle people and are unkind right, like, are
- 51:00Speaker 3: we going to be able to rely on each other
- 51:02Speaker 3: in the future in the way that we're going to
- 51:04Speaker 3: need to?
- 51:04Speaker 4: I worry about that.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Look at all of the countries here that are weighing
- 51:11Speaker 2: in interest vested interest in this show, and they're watching
- 51:18Speaker 2: so carefully and maybe polishing up some of their own
- 51:24Speaker 2: munitions here. There's a lot of countries, a lot that
- 51:30Speaker 2: are concerned and drawn lines in the sand right now.
- 51:35Speaker 2: You really don't think that this is going to turn
- 51:38Speaker 2: into World War III.
- 51:45Speaker 3: I mean again, I think Iron has no capacity to
- 51:48Speaker 3: create that kind of problem without some sort of aid. So,
- 51:51Speaker 3: you know, like we can look at you can look
- 51:52Speaker 3: at Vietnam as an example. If China started backing right
- 51:58Speaker 3: like that, we you know, or did we want to
- 52:01Speaker 3: go to war with China? We didn't, clearly or we
- 52:03Speaker 3: would have won in Vietnam, right We didn't want to
- 52:05Speaker 3: go to war with China.
- 52:06Speaker 2: So China, we still don't want to go to war with.
- 52:08Speaker 3: China providing support China providing support to you know, North
- 52:11Speaker 3: Korea if you have you know, one of these nuclear
- 52:16Speaker 3: adversaries that got involved supporting Ron.
- 52:19Speaker 4: Could that lead to something.
- 52:20Speaker 3: I think what you point out though, is everybody has
- 52:23Speaker 3: an interest in this, and as much as we all
- 52:25Speaker 3: want to like power brokers have wanted to shift focus
- 52:28Speaker 3: to Asia forever. I don't know why we feel like
- 52:31Speaker 3: we need some kind of confrontation with China. But the
- 52:33Speaker 3: reality is the Middle East is really still pretty darn
- 52:35Speaker 3: important to all of us culturally, but still over energy, right, like,
- 52:39Speaker 3: there are some good you know, probably this will cause
- 52:41Speaker 3: some rethinking about conversion to renewables, right that. As energy
- 52:46Speaker 3: prices go high, people are going to start thinking, hey,
- 52:48Speaker 3: should I switch over? Is the cost of switching worth it?
- 52:50Speaker 3: It's cheaper? Is the cost of switching worth it at
- 52:53Speaker 3: this point? So there could be some good things. But
- 52:55Speaker 3: I think it's an opportunity now we actually, you know,
- 52:58Speaker 3: like I really like Mark Rubio. I feel like he
- 53:00Speaker 3: is a really good Secretary of State. It'd be a
- 53:03Speaker 3: great opportunity for him to start gathering like minded peers
- 53:07Speaker 3: like we've had in the past, to build a coalition
- 53:10Speaker 3: to say, look, this is what the future state looks like.
- 53:13Speaker 3: It looks like some kind of containment, it looks like
- 53:15Speaker 3: protection of the trade routes, and these are all the
- 53:18Speaker 3: willing parties who are going to be involved in that
- 53:20Speaker 3: kind of thing. I think it's a great opportunity for
- 53:22Speaker 3: us to do something like that and maybe step beyond
- 53:25Speaker 3: the noise of the moment, right and do something that
- 53:28Speaker 3: looks American like lead, let's lead.
- 53:29Speaker 4: I think there's a good moment to do that.
- 53:31Speaker 2: You have heard comments from family friends, I'm guessing or
- 53:36Speaker 2: if at least read them. It's one thing if we
- 53:40Speaker 2: think we're going to go in there and take out
- 53:43Speaker 2: all their ballistic capacity and so on and so forth,
- 53:50Speaker 2: and maybe we still have to find this uranium where
- 53:55Speaker 2: it's hiding out and maybe take out their nuclear capability.
- 54:00Speaker 2: But it's a whole nother thing to try to blow
- 54:04Speaker 2: up and permanently kill the regime. And that'll never happen.
- 54:09Speaker 4: It'll never happen.
- 54:11Speaker 2: This war has been going on for more than fifty years.
- 54:16Speaker 3: It's not you know, we don't have the ability to doe.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Look you look at serious amazing example, right. I mean
- 54:22Speaker 3: they had the Arab spring was about like two thousand
- 54:24Speaker 3: and eight or nine somewhere in there. I mean they
- 54:26Speaker 3: just if the civil war's over, like it just like
- 54:30Speaker 3: maybe in November, like when they finally kind of got
- 54:32Speaker 3: the Kurdish territories on board. Yeah, that's a long time,
- 54:37Speaker 3: that's a lot of people dead, and Iron was partly
- 54:39Speaker 3: responsible for that. But you know the bottom line is like,
- 54:43Speaker 3: we can't fight somebody else's civil war. It's not our
- 54:46Speaker 3: fight to fight. And I think in a large measure
- 54:49Speaker 3: that to some extent, that's what this is. This is
- 54:52Speaker 3: somebody else's civil war. There is a you might fight
- 54:55Speaker 3: digress for a second. So I'm just gonna go back
- 54:57Speaker 3: to nine to eleven. Before nine to eleven, well shortly
- 55:03Speaker 3: after nine eleven. Actually Eric Edelman, who later became Under
- 55:07Speaker 3: Secretary of Defense for Policy, he wrote this article called
- 55:10Speaker 3: somebody Else's Civil War, and what he was explaining was
- 55:13Speaker 3: what al Qada was trying to do is they were
- 55:15Speaker 3: trying to drag us into a conflict so that they
- 55:20Speaker 3: would garner more support for their solifie this sort of
- 55:23Speaker 3: extremist view of Islam.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Right.
- 55:25Speaker 3: They were trying to draw more popular support, and their
- 55:27Speaker 3: their hope was that by attacking the United States right,
- 55:30Speaker 3: they would sort of stir the hornet's nest, and by
- 55:32Speaker 3: doing that it would unify all the people behind this.
- 55:35Speaker 3: You know, this idea of a political you know, regime
- 55:38Speaker 3: right that they're going to take you know, sort of
- 55:40Speaker 3: Islam is gonna take over the world. It's a very
- 55:43Speaker 3: good point, and to some extent, I think this is
- 55:46Speaker 3: what we're seeing in Iran as well. I there are
- 55:50Speaker 3: no there are no intelligence reports, and in fact, what's
- 55:53Speaker 3: been told to US declassified reports is there's no connection
- 55:56Speaker 3: between October seventh and Iran.
- 55:59Speaker 4: That's what's that they did green lighted. They didn't know
- 56:01Speaker 4: about it.
- 56:01Speaker 3: I find it incredibly hard to believe that Iran, who
- 56:05Speaker 3: has sponsored Homas, who's the lifeblood of Hamas, that nobody
- 56:08Speaker 3: there knew that they were going to carry out this attack.
- 56:12Speaker 3: And I and I suspect that part of that. I
- 56:14Speaker 3: think probably what was going on was there probably was
- 56:17Speaker 3: a debate. This is this is my conspiracy theory. Guys
- 56:20Speaker 3: like you just blame it on me. Nobody else has
- 56:22Speaker 3: said this. This is just Gablige and s Okay, some
- 56:24Speaker 3: guy that was at Montpelier, so don't worry about it.
- 56:26Speaker 3: But my conspiracy theory is that that there was a
- 56:29Speaker 3: debate inside the regime about whether they should get it.
- 56:32Speaker 3: They were ready to break out to get a nuclear weapon,
- 56:35Speaker 3: there was a debate about whether they should have one,
- 56:37Speaker 3: and that's very similarly that the hardliners wanted to push
- 56:42Speaker 3: the Supreme Leader or whatever needed to happen so that
- 56:45Speaker 3: they could weaponize. They wanted to prove the fact that
- 56:47Speaker 3: they needed not just the breakout capability, they actually needed
- 56:51Speaker 3: the weapon right now. I don't think they recognized that
- 56:53Speaker 3: Israel was going to be able to go and do
- 56:55Speaker 3: what they did, like or willing, had the political will
- 56:57Speaker 3: to do what they did, right, They didn't expect dismantling
- 57:00Speaker 3: of Hamas and Hesbela and the kind of ferocity that
- 57:04Speaker 3: that generated from the state of Israel. So I think
- 57:07Speaker 3: that they, you know, they sort of overplayed that. If
- 57:09Speaker 3: they were involved, they overplayed their hand. But the result
- 57:11Speaker 3: of that today is what we see is that IERGYC
- 57:16Speaker 3: is in control and if they want to do it,
- 57:18Speaker 3: if they can ever get themselves to a breakout, I
- 57:20Speaker 3: think they will, Like why would they not. We've just
- 57:23Speaker 3: demonstrated we're willing to do whatever it takes to destroy
- 57:25Speaker 3: the regime apparently, right, Why would that? Is that not
- 57:30Speaker 3: good logic for why you should have it? Why does
- 57:32Speaker 3: everybody else have nuclear weapons deterrence? Why would they not
- 57:36Speaker 3: want deterrence right, Like to me, that makes total sense
- 57:39Speaker 3: if you're a hardliner. And I'll say this too, like
- 57:42Speaker 3: for people that don't know, it's complicated right Middle East?
- 57:45Speaker 3: Is anybody that claims they're a Middle East expert, Look,
- 57:48Speaker 3: they may be an expert in one little thing there,
- 57:50Speaker 3: that is is such a crazy complicent I mean cities,
- 57:53Speaker 3: individual cities have tribes and stuff that go back thousands
- 57:57Speaker 3: of years. There's nobody that's an expert. Okay, but but
- 58:02Speaker 3: what what you know, what you can say looking at
- 58:04Speaker 3: the entire situation is that you know, we really are
- 58:09Speaker 3: in a there are opportunities. On the one hand, I
- 58:12Speaker 3: saw some stuff over the weekend. Some of the folks
- 58:15Speaker 3: are saying, look, we're gonna have you know, sort of
- 58:17Speaker 3: another uh piece and Versailles, like how do we redraw
- 58:20Speaker 3: the maps of the Middle East?
- 58:21Speaker 4: There are some opportunities there.
- 58:22Speaker 3: But I think there's you know, we just need to
- 58:25Speaker 3: be realistic that there is uh, there's a lot of
- 58:27Speaker 3: danger in the moment ahead.
- 58:31Speaker 2: I had a friend tell me that Omiane's that Holmane
- 58:37Speaker 2: is no more dead than Elvis Presley, implying that he's
- 58:46Speaker 2: very much still alive. What do you believe. Do you
- 58:55Speaker 2: believe the Aye of Tola is? I mean, I still alive?
- 58:58Speaker 4: Israel says he's like injured and barely alive. I don't.
- 59:02Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 59:03Speaker 2: We're not talking about we're not talking about his son.
- 59:05Speaker 2: We're talking about oh many.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Many, how many?
- 59:08Speaker 2: How many?
- 59:08Speaker 1: Oh?
- 59:09Speaker 3: No?
- 59:11Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that's crazy. No, I mean I don't know.
- 59:15Speaker 4: Why would why would that? You know, if they're all
- 59:17Speaker 4: in a building.
- 59:18Speaker 3: So the way this stuff works, right, like, you got
- 59:21Speaker 3: you got sources on site who are telling you, verifying
- 59:23Speaker 3: who's even if you don't have DNA, right, you got
- 59:26Speaker 3: sources on site who are telling you in real time
- 59:28Speaker 3: everybody's in the room. And then if you drop the
- 59:31Speaker 3: bomb and there's nothing left of the room, like I
- 59:34Speaker 3: don't need DNA, right, there's we saw them go in.
- 59:37Speaker 3: They did not come out. Yeah, and we dropped the
- 59:40Speaker 3: bomb and there's nothing left.
- 59:42Speaker 2: My wife said, how helted we did we get that intel?
- 59:46Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's fascinating to me. Who was who
- 59:50Speaker 2: was it that was there that connected in with the
- 59:56Speaker 2: United States and said we're all in this Uh, here's
- 59:59Speaker 2: the address, We're in this room right now. I'm getting
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: the hell out of here and going to the bathroom.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: Now it's the time to hit go.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we I mean, you know, we've got
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: obviously between us or these relies, there are some intelligence
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: assets there, and I think given given, you know, like
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: I don't think we should be that surprised that we've
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: got good access to it, given you know, when you're
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: brutalizing your own people, right, there's going to be people
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: that have even come up in the system, but are
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: going to start questioning why are we part of this?
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Like my son's friend got killed when he went out
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: and walked the streets the other day because he was
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: in the wrong place.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: So the fact that we have people that are willing
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: to get paid.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Dress dress the part, look the act, the part have.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: The promise of we're going to get your family out
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: of here. When they're saying what I was actually hoping,
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: like when this all kind of kicked off and there's
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: a lot of uncertainty, what I was hoping is, boy,
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: I hope we have some assets there that are ready
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: to be the Venezuelan equivalent of a strong man. I
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: hope that there's like an IRGC leader or in a
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: regular army leader or somebody that's already on our books
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: that thinks they can, you know, that they can step in.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: And when that that clearly hasn't happened yet, that gives
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: me pause and concern. It's like, Okay, we got into
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: you know, at some moment, Trump's talked about, you know,
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: the secretary of war. We've heard people talking about regime
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: change as a potential goal of this thing.
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: That could only really be.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Possible if you knew that you had a strong person
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: that was going to be able to wield those hundreds
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: of thousands of militarize people and get them behind. And
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: if we don't have that, then it's it's again it's
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: sort of like you know, yeah, maybe there's millions of
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: people that would rise up. They're all going to get shot,
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: like like you can't expect, you know, these are not
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: This isn't France in the eighteen hundreds where they're going
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: to throw the barricades down right and fight.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: What was your your reaction when Kamanie was was hit
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: in that that first strike. Were you what were you doing?
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Were you popping popcorn? Where you calling your buddies? Were
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: you saying I told you so, I knew this was
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: going to happen again.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I think people in the community were watching this. I
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: don't think any of us were surprised. I mean again,
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: I the leaks, like I thought it was gonna happen
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: four days earlier. The fact that they were able to
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: get everybody out, like all at once, take everybody out
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: at once, I mean that was like, Oh, they've got
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: some their intels better than I thought. It was right
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: that they could have that kind of access to that meeting.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: That's pretty that's you know, that's somebody high up, right.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: I mean it could be the tea guy too. You
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: don't know, right, the guy delivering tea. It could be
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: that guy. But to have you know, the tea guy
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: wouldn't know the details of all these people all you know,
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: these are all the names, this is all the stuff.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: They seem to have known every that have the list, right,
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: they seem to have the list, So that indicates somebody
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: that's you know, has some access.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Anyway, if you were the president of the United States,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: would you have buzzed into Congress and said, Yo, we've
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: got to three minute window here or a one hour window,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: or would you have just rallied the troops and aimed
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: your target.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: No. I think he did what every president has done,
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: which is which is, you know, you do your attack,
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: you have your element of surprise, and then you come
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: out and you do you know, you do a public statement,
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: which is what he did, and then you go in
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: and you know, they came in within forty eight hours
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: and they brief Congress and stuff.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: I don't you would have done the same?
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: I think that's what you do. Like what again before
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: about target list? Well, maybe at this moment it's fine
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: to tell everybody because you're just hitting fixed.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: Materials and stuff.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: But at that moment, when you're taking out part of right,
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: the command and control, is the leadership. Right, So when
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: you're like, well, we're gonna we're at least going to
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: create confusion because we're going to take out the core leaders,
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: that is part of this initial in addition to the
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: air defense capabilities, taking out those core leaders is part
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: of that initial campaign. Sure, yeah, I mean I think
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: every it doesn't matter party, this is what anybody would do.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: What about We'll wrap up here, but what about the UK?
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: What do you have to say about Germany? What do
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: you have to say about France? They're all saying, Hey,
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: we'll do whatever we have to do. But they seem
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: like they're pardon the lack of verbiage here, but on
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: our side.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there is Within the UK in particular,
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: I think there were a lot of internal debates that
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: were actually worth having for them, Oh yeah, to figure
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: out like what's going on. This is the longest part.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: You know, it's a special partnership, like what kinds of
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: things do we want to say and kind of holding
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: their prime minister accountable, you know, like having some conversations
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: about that kind of thing. But I think it is
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: a really great moment for us to lead and I
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: hope that we'll do that. It's you know, I'm sure
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: from you know, like again coming off of the Venezuela,
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: you know, change like in that being so successful and
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: so fast and so quick and something apparently he wants
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: you know, that's come out now right, that he wanted
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: to do that in the first administration, but he kind
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: of got yep, his advisors kind of tucked it away, yeah,
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: and didn't really follow out his his guidance or something, right.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: So I think when you when you look at all
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: those you know, when you look at that situation, you
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: can say, oh, it's great to go it alone. This
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: is not a go out your own the long term again,
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: whatever the targeting that we're going to do, like, hey,
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: we get the final you know, two hundred and two thousand, whatever,
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: the number of targets is sure, we can hit all those.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: But once we're done that, the sort of peace operations,
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: the stability operations, right, the the containment operations. Let's let's
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: get a big coalition on board, because we all have
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: interest in the region, we all have interest in energy,
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: we all have interests in the Iranian people. These are
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: like amazing, wonderful people, right, we all have an interest
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: in this. How do we do that and to get
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: the more partner the more partners we have on board.
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: The better.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Right. Wow, Gab, it's been just fascinating hearing you talk
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: about this and breaking it down for us. Man, it's
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: this is one where I just got to go back
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: and give it a re listen and make sure that
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: this one is shared with as many people as possible
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: because this just brings fantastic perspective. And I appreciate your
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: time so much. Man, you you really know what you're
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: talking about.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Well, thanks for having me on again. You just have
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: a great show, and hopefully I didn't. You know, this
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: is all controversial. I hope people do make their own conclusions.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: But I do think it's important that we don't get
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: stuck in an algorithm telling us everything. Right, I think,
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: you know, if you're a Fox News person, get onto
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: MSNBC and read some.
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: Of their perspectives.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: Are Wall Street journal person read the New York Times occasionally, right, Like, Yes,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: we just get stuck in all our own headspace, and
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: it's just it's reflecting on us the same things we
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: already think. We need to hear some alternative views. And
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: you're not probably going to get persuaded completely, but you're
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: gonna here's some other things. This is we have a
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: responsibility here, there is an election, right, we do make
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: a difference.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: Right Again, I think.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: If you look at the Homeland security is a really
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: really awesome example. The American people were not happy that
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: they were seeing in Minnesota, right the Vermont our our
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: delegates did an awesome job of holding people accountable. Right,
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: we had no you know, was fired reason?
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: Whatever it is?
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: Right, she's out of the picture, right, some like there's
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: still probably more accountability.
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: That it needs to be hauled.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: But this is what we as citizens, this is what's important,
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: is that we write our Congress right that we but
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: to do that, be informed, don't just get stuck in
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: what the algorithm has told.
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: You to think.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Yeah, man, that's that is so so important. Listen to
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: as many different networks as you can, and you know what,
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: also shut it off. Yeah, and go out and play
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: with your kids.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: That's right, that's right.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: After a little while, some of the best perspectives going
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: go for a long walk, go for a run.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Like exactly, Gabe, thank you so much for coming in. Man.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: Thanks Jadi, the.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: Host of the Abundance Agenda. Where is that It's right
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: on Facebook?

- 1:08:36Speaker 2: you're talking about on the abundance agenda, which affects us
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: locally right here. That's so so important. And as I said,
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: we're breaking ground on some really big things coming this
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: spring and this summer when it comes to housing right
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: here in central Vermont. This process concerts all kinds of
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: stuff I wanted. I wanted.
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: Let's do it. Let's do that, Let's do it, all right,
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: thanks Jadi.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: Yeah, man, Gabe Latchins right there, I said before, and
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: say it again. That's the real deal. The guy knows
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: what he's talking about. Fascinating stuff this morning here in
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: the aired out podcast, listen, take good care. Don't worry
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: about the clouds in the rain and the dreary and drizzly.

- 1:09:15Speaker 2: fifty seven degrees later today. Do what you can because
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: we're snapping back into the thirties immediately after this. So
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: spring's coming. Gang, it's gonna start greening up out there
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: real soon. Be good, Take good care. We'll catch it
