- 0:00Speaker 1: Say like six or seven and they have always had
- 0:04Speaker 1: that those kind of fruits in their life from their
- 0:06Speaker 1: parents and they've always kind of had that Christian values
- 0:11Speaker 1: already kind of set in them and there's not a
- 0:14Speaker 1: humongous dramatic change once they have received salvation and what
- 0:17Speaker 1: do you think about that because there's not a dramatic
- 0:20Speaker 1: change does that mean it wasn't really.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Genuine or actually what what you're talking about you know
- 0:28Speaker 2: how people say I've heard people say that We know
- 0:30Speaker 2: I was saved really young. I was saved really young
- 0:34Speaker 2: and I don't have that dramatic a testimony. No, that's
- 0:37Speaker 2: what we're shooting for. That's the dramatic testimony. That's what
- 0:40Speaker 2: Vody's getting about talking about with the family. I would
- 0:45Speaker 2: want my son. At six years old to be converted
- 0:49Speaker 2: and to walk all the days of his life before
- 0:51Speaker 2: the Lord in fear. That's the goal. We don't want
- 0:57Speaker 2: this idea of, you know. We were drunkards and whoremongers
- 1:01Speaker 2: and this and we've got to say the great work
- 1:03Speaker 2: of grace.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Is when someone's never gone through that.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And can God save a child?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely. But but let me give you an example.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Most children today, when they make a profession of faith,
- 1:19Speaker 2: are many times led to that profession artificially. You know
- 1:24Speaker 2: how many times I mean, we know this is true.
- 1:25Speaker 2: A Sunday school teacher says, how many of you children
- 1:28Speaker 2: love Jesus, you know? I'll raise their hand how many
- 1:31Speaker 2: want to go to heaven pray this prayer and they
- 1:34Speaker 2: get baptized you know it's like the one big southern
- 1:36Speaker 2: baptist church down there I think in Texas you know
- 1:38Speaker 2: they have a fire truck baptism thing where the kid
- 1:42Speaker 2: gets baptized in a fire truck and it shoots up
- 1:44Speaker 2: graffiti and I mean the whole thing is designed to
- 1:47Speaker 2: lead children to do something that's not a genuine work
- 1:51Speaker 2: of God I'll give you an example about a month
- 1:55Speaker 2: ago a month and a half ago my little Ian
- 1:58Speaker 2: Just started weeping hysterically. During the worship. And I said Ian.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Ian what's wrong? And he said he died daddy. He
- 2:07Speaker 2: really really died.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Now.
- 2:11Speaker 2: My son's not converted. I found him crying on his
- 2:14Speaker 2: pillow one night. I said Ian what's going on? He
- 2:17Speaker 2: goes I don't want to die daddy. Now he's not converted.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Most people would have already had my son baptized.
- 2:26Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Here's the way I deal with a child. Ian comes
- 2:30Speaker 2: to me and says, Daddy, you know, what do I
- 2:32Speaker 2: have to do? And he's done that many times. And
- 2:34Speaker 2: I said, son, son, you have to believe in Christ.
- 2:39Speaker 2: You have to recognize the sin in your life and
- 2:42Speaker 2: there'll be a brokenness over it, and you have to
- 2:44Speaker 2: trust in Christ. And you know, he tells me because
- 2:48Speaker 2: he's a little boy, he says, I'm doing that, Daddy.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Now.
- 2:53Speaker 2: As a man who spent many years in Scripture. I
- 2:56Speaker 2: know my son is not converted. But I am not
- 3:01Speaker 2: going to say to him, no, Ian, you're not doing that.
- 3:05Speaker 2: You're not believing.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I'm not going to crush the light that is in
- 3:08Speaker 3: my son. Not at all. I will tell him when
- 3:12Speaker 3: he says, Daddy, I'm doing that. I'm believing. I say,
- 3:14Speaker 3: wonderful son.
- 3:16Speaker 2: You keep believing in him. You keep seeking to do
- 3:22Speaker 2: his will. And son, if you truly are believing. Then
- 3:27Speaker 2: you are saved. But son this is going to be.
- 3:30Speaker 2: The further evidence. As you grow. If you're truly believing.
- 3:35Speaker 2: You're going to continue. Walking with him. Growing in him.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Knowing more about him. Your passion is going to increase.
- 3:43Speaker 2: And one day it's going to come to a point.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Where in my own heart is your father. I can
- 3:49Speaker 2: look at you and say son.
- 3:50Speaker 3: There is solid biblical evidence. That you've really come to
- 3:54Speaker 3: know him. And so.
- 3:56Speaker 2: We don't want to crush that at all. Treat it tenderly.
- 3:59Speaker 2: It's like when a person comes forward in a church.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Have you ever noticed that comes forward in a church,
- 4:03Speaker 2: a church that has invitations? He goes and talks to
- 4:07Speaker 2: a counselor. The counselor talks to him for max five minutes.
- 4:12Speaker 2: The cards presented to the preacher and the preacher says,
- 4:14Speaker 2: I want to rejoice because Frank's got saved today.
- 4:16Speaker 3: I want to ask you a question.
- 4:19Speaker 2: There's got to be some serious supernatural revelation going on.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Some extra biblical, you know, angels coming down talking to
- 4:26Speaker 2: preachers for that preacher to know that.
- 4:28Speaker 3: And right there is set in course.
- 4:32Speaker 2: The possibility of sending this man to hell with false assurance.
- 4:36Speaker 3: The preacher just said he saved.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It's better to say if you do have invitations and
- 4:41Speaker 2: people coming forward like that, it's better to say if
- 4:44Speaker 2: you want to present them to the church.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I don't have a problem with that. Just say this.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Folks, we need to rejoice today because Frank has come
- 4:52Speaker 2: and he has professed faith in Jesus Christ. And that's
- 4:55Speaker 2: absolutely wonderful. Now, because we love Frank, because it's our responsibility,
- 4:59Speaker 2: we're going to be spending the next several weeks and
- 5:02Speaker 2: months with Frank so that he can come to a
- 5:04Speaker 2: biblical assurance of whether or not he's truly believed.
- 5:08Speaker 3: You changed everything. And that's what I would do with
- 5:11Speaker 3: young kids.
- 5:12Speaker 4: There's a great time.
- 5:25Speaker 5: On? Okay. There's a book that we give to families,
- 5:30Speaker 5: Your Child's Profession of Faith, which really kind of helps
- 5:34Speaker 5: think through some of these things. And you may want
- 5:38Speaker 5: to get that. The problem, here's a lot of times,
- 5:40Speaker 5: a lot of times here's the difficulty. When we ask
- 5:44Speaker 5: questions about, you know, theoretical questions about a person's salvation,
- 5:49Speaker 5: And we go, okay, if a person was saved, this,
- 5:53Speaker 5: and then this happens. Usually what we mean is, if
- 5:57Speaker 5: a person went through the unbiblical, heretical practices that we
- 6:01Speaker 5: currently call salvation, and then show evidence that they weren't saved. See,
- 6:06Speaker 5: we start with a false premise. So we go, okay,
- 6:10Speaker 5: a six-year-old, what does that mean? That means that they
- 6:13Speaker 5: were in a Sunday school class or they walked down
- 6:15Speaker 5: the aisle and You know, somebody said, well, where is
- 6:17Speaker 5: Jesus right now? And they went, in my heart. And
- 6:20Speaker 5: everybody goes, oh, you know, can't even stand up in
- 6:22Speaker 5: the baptistry. That's what that means. You can't start the
- 6:27Speaker 5: question with that false premise.
- 6:30Speaker 3: You see?
- 6:31Speaker 5: Our problem is not that salvation is confusing. The Bible
- 6:37Speaker 5: makes it clear. The things we went through last night
- 6:38Speaker 5: and this morning, it doesn't make it confusing at all.
- 6:41Speaker 5: The problem is that our unbiblical, heretical practices of declaring
- 6:47Speaker 5: somebody saved because they've gone through something that we've created
- 6:52Speaker 5: and that's not even anywhere in the scriptures that's what
- 6:55Speaker 5: makes it confusing for us you know because we say
- 6:59Speaker 5: salvation equals asking jesus into your heart that six-year-old says
- 7:03Speaker 5: i asked jesus into my heart that's nowhere in the
- 7:05Speaker 5: scriptures you won't find it anywhere in the bible but
- 7:08Speaker 5: that's what we say salvation is asking jesus into your
- 7:10Speaker 5: heart so this six-year-old says i asked jesus into my
- 7:14Speaker 5: heart and that's why all of him You've been in
- 7:16Speaker 5: the ministry any length of time. You've heard this. You know, well,
- 7:20Speaker 5: I got saved when I was six. But then, you know,
- 7:22Speaker 5: when I was a teenager, I kind of went astray
- 7:24Speaker 5: and I did this and I did that. Or, you know,
- 7:27Speaker 5: the teenager who comes up and says, I'm just really
- 7:29Speaker 5: confused about, you know, my salvation, if I've lost it.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Why?
- 7:34Speaker 5: Because when I was six, I got baptized and this
- 7:36Speaker 5: and that and the other. But I'm struggling with this
- 7:38Speaker 5: and I'm struggling with that and I'm struggling with the other.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Why is that so common?
- 7:44Speaker 5: One of the reasons it's so common is because we
- 7:46Speaker 5: have a heretical understanding of what salvation is in the
- 7:48Speaker 5: first place. And we've projected that heretical understanding on impressionable
- 7:53Speaker 5: young children. And they believe they've got something that they
- 7:57Speaker 5: really don't have. And oftentimes, their spiritual lives, they're crippled
- 8:01Speaker 5: beyond that. Because if praying the prayer when I was
- 8:04Speaker 5: six didn't work, how do I know it took this
- 8:08Speaker 5: time at 16? Or at 26? Or at 46? And
- 8:13Speaker 5: you got people who've been in church forever who still
- 8:16Speaker 5: wrestle with that all because they started from a false premise.
- 8:25Speaker 4: This is a question for both of you, but from
- 8:28Speaker 4: your understanding of the women these days living in the
- 8:34Speaker 4: bondage of being aggressively competitive with one another, what kind
- 8:37Speaker 4: of lies are we believing and what kind of lies
- 8:40Speaker 4: do are before us and keeping us from loving someone
- 8:43Speaker 4: that's younger than us or from not being competitive like
- 8:47Speaker 4: all around with women.
- 8:52Speaker 5: I think that goes back to this idea that we're
- 8:53Speaker 5: not raising women anymore. We're raising these females to be
- 8:59Speaker 5: men with the biological capacity for giving birth. And even
- 9:06Speaker 5: beyond the competitiveness with women, we also have this competitiveness
- 9:10Speaker 5: with men That really bothers me. You know, when our
- 9:14Speaker 5: kids were little, a lot of people take their kids
- 9:16Speaker 5: and they're little and they put them in these leagues
- 9:17Speaker 5: where their boys are competing against girls. I won't let
- 9:20Speaker 5: my little boys compete against girls in those settings. No, son,
- 9:24Speaker 5: I'm trying to teach my son to protect women, not
- 9:26Speaker 5: to see them as opponents. I'm not going to do that.
