- 0:07[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to the Dog's Podcast with your hosts, Lake Renaker, Justin Charles, and Josh All.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, what's up, Browns fans?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to another episode of the Dogs Podcast presented by Manly Bands.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: Josh, all your host has usual during the week here just coming to you with this little mid week of day.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: We are right between the disappointing loss to the Vikings in London on Sunday and what I believe will be the eventual loss in Pittsburgh on Sunday against the Steelers, but we will do the preview show on Thursday afternoon.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: 3 PM Eastern in the discord discord dog pack episode live so if you want to be a part of that if you want to get in there get your thoughts your questions your opinions on the show head over join the dogs dot com become official dog pack member on the patreon page think up with the private discord that gets you access to everything that we do behind the scenes
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: in the discord is where the dog the dog pack community lives i mean lives thrives we're in there every sunday talking about the game right now things are getting spicy every week and there seems like because there is a huge differing of opinion and it's largely one sided but
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's a differing of opinion on what the Browns need to do in the future with their head coach, which is what, again, I'm going to talk a little bit about today.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I'm beating the dead horse here every week coming in, talking about how this team is poorly coached, is unprepared.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm trying to drive that point home because when you're watching the game and, you know, I've been
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: paying attention to Jake Burns at Browns Film Breakdown.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: I've been texting with him talking to him on the side, just trying to figure out like, what are you seeing on the all 22 on your film break down, because Jake isn't a film expert.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you don't follow Jake on X, if you're not a member on Substack for Browns Film Breakdown, go check it out, give it a shot, see if it's for you.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: It might not be.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe film, study, and all that.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's not for everybody.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: but it is very interesting when he breaks it down and a lot of the stuff he was showing from the game in London is the same story we've seen repeated over and over and over it feels like with Kevin Stephansky and that is
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: unpreparedness players don't know what they're doing.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: They don't know where to line up.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: There was the one playing the fourth quarter of what Dylan got.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan Gabriel had to tell Harold Finn and who was trying to line up.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think was on the right side of the line like dude get get back here.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: You're on the left side of me in the backfield and you know, Finn had to jump back there real quick.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: I say a bond a couple plays.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: Jake was pointing out like was blocking linemen or something like he wasn't really sure what he was supposed to be doing
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: David and Joe Koo had a past Russia on one play that got absolutely blown up.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan Gabriel had to ditch the past almost immediately because and Joe Koo missed his block off the left side.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not just rookie's not known what they're doing.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's veterans as well.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Missing assignments, making mistakes.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: There was the one play that went around Twitter where Wyatt teller I think it was a quenchon juggins run play.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm not mistaken, I should have looked this up first.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: Wyatt teller that I forget who posted it said, what is 77 going on his excursion?
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: The entire play was like going to the right side forward, obviously, and Wyatt teller was like bailing out as if it was like a screen pass or something behind the line of scrimmage.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: super weird and you know we've argued if you guys watch the show obviously after the games you know Blake and I argue a lot about whether this whole situation with the Browns and why we're foreign 20 since last time we've won back to back games.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: is a result of, you know, the ground's not having good players on offense because a lot of times Blake and other people will say, well, there's no good players on this team.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, there's phenomenal players on this team.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: They're on the defensive side of all.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: So we do have good players on this team.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's the offense that's terrible and is that 100% the record?
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: Is that all on the players?
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: Or is it on the coaching and I'm definitely pointing at the coaching for this because I don't care
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: how inexperienced the players are.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, it's all the way from rookies to season vets, our miscommunicating, making mistakes, mental errors on the field.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know what the play is, don't know what they're doing.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: And that to me is just a major concern.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a tweet that I saw today that I really just wanted to hone in on.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: for this and again this probably won't be a super long episode like I keep saying I don't want to beat the dead horse but I think that this is important to take a look at so this tweet comes from KFC so this is at KF Christian on X so this is breaking down the browns offense through five weeks okay so just for the first five weeks
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: From 2017, when Hugh Jackson was the head coach running the offense and the team went o and 16.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: So for the first five weeks of 2017 compared to the first five weeks of right now, 2025 under Kevin's defense gig, again, this is just on the offensive side of the ball.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: In 2027, the Browns under Hugh Jackson average 14.68 points a game through the first five games.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: What are the Browns averaging this year?
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: 14.6 points per game.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: In 2017, the Browns averaged 309 yards per game through the first five weeks, 309 yards per game.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Right now in 2025, the Browns are averaging 288 yards per game.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: So, less.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: Then the Brown's offense averaged in 2017 under Hugh Jackson points per play.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: The Brown's are averaging 0.22 points per play in 2025 back in 2017.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: They averaged 0.232 points per play.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: So better than this year's offense.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: In 2017, the Brown's offense was 33.8% on third down.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: And this year, they are 34.2% on third down.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: So a little better this year, but not great.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: Not a whole lot better.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: In 2017, the Brown's offense averaged 1.7 touchdowns per game through the first five weeks.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: 1.7 touchdowns per game.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: This year, 1.6.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: so less.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: And finally, in 2017, Hugh Jackson's offense through the first five games averaged 4.9 yards per play this year, 4.3.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: The Brown's offense, this season statistically through the first five weeks, under Kevin's defense, he is worse, slightly worse.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: Not a whole lot, but still, it's not better than Hugh Jackson's offense through the first five weeks back in 2017.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the numbers.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the stats and the record reflects it.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: The record reflects it because if you think about through the first five weeks, the Browns are obviously own five in 2017 because we didn't want to game that season.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: What are we right now?
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: One and four.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Not much difference.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we argue about it a lot.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: Blake says it's all about the personnel.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: The coaching is fine.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: There's, you know, nothing wrong with the coaching.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: Everything goes to the players.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I wanted to go back.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Let's look at who the players were in 2017.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: For this huge action offense, that was, again, slightly better through five weeks than the Kevin Stephansky offense this year.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Quarterback in 2017 was rookie, second round pick, does shown Kaiser.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: Okay?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Who's better to Sean Kaiser or Joe Flacco slash Dylan Gabriel?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, think about that.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Running back, Isaiah Crowell.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: K. Hugh Jackson had a better offense through five weeks, statistically, with Isaiah Crowell as his running back.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Who the Browns have right now?
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Quint Sean Judkins, who's better guys?
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the better running back?
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Quint Sean or Isaiah Crowell?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about why receivers shall we?
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: Why receivers?
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: No, let's just go with the like your top two here because I don't have the full.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't I not have the full list here?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I see it now.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's just go through the full list then.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Why are receivers in 2017 compared to 2025?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about Corey Coleman.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Kenny Britt.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: How about that.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Sammy Coats.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Josh Gordon, who didn't play because he was suspended, but he was on the roster.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: Rashard Higgins a young, I think is either rookie year or second year Rashard Higgins.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Leslie, Ricardo Lewis, Bryce Triggs, Cason Williams.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your wide receivers from 2017.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: Let's roll through again.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: Kenny Britt, Sammy Cotes, Corey Coleman, Rashard Higgins, Jordan Leslie, Ricardo Lewis, Bryce Triggs, and Cason Williams.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: and Hugh Jackson had a better statistical offense through five games than to Kevin's to fans again, those were his wide receivers.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a Hugh Jackson support show.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I hated Hugh Jackson, hated him, hated him, wanted him gone so bad.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Couldn't believe they brought him back, hated Hugh Jackson.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Just so you guys understand where I'm at right now, without this Brown's offense is performing.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Who are Kevin's to fans these wide receivers?
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: Why would say, and I would argue that Jerry Judy for his bad as he's been, for as many drops as he's had is better than anybody on that huge Jackson offense.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: Is he better than Corey Coleman?
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, don't be stupid about it.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he's better than what Corey Coleman ever was.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Is he better than Kenny Britt?
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need to talk about this.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Again, this was second year Rashad Higgins.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he really did a whole lot.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: There was nobody.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: There was nobody on that 2017 offense for Hugh Jackson at the Widersy Reposition.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll say, after Jerry Judy, there's nobody on this team, okay?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: Cedric Tillman, I don't, I think Cedric Tillman's, I don't think there's anything going to be there, guys.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: I just, I'm not optimistic about the future for Cedric Tillman because the present and the past have not been great at all.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: And this is your three.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so then it's what, to my thrash.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: Isaiah Bond, like, these names that the Browns have at the Widersyver Corps right now, we're going to look at them 10 years down the road.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: The same way we're looking at this 2017 roster going, who the heck are these Widersyvers?
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: This is all we had.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is all we had.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: So let's look at Titan for Mr. Hugh Jackson back in the day.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: At 2017, we had David and Joku, rookie David and Joku.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: So again, David and Joku as our rookie was not David and Joku.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: What he is right now for Kevin Stephanski.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: And if you guys are kind of, if I'm not leading this along well enough for whatever, because I probably should have another cup of coffee here this morning.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin's the feast, he has a better offense, better personnel right now than what Hugh Jackson had back in 2017.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: Hugh Jackson had slightly better statistical output through five weeks of the NFL season.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: I had something I wanted to say there, I'll get 10 minutes, other tight-ends Seth devolve.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Randall Telfer.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: These are the guys for Hugh Jackson.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Let's look at the offensive line.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Joe Thomas.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that was the year Joe Thomas got injured and his career was over.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: So that would have been, yeah.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: So Joe Thomas ended up getting replaced by Spencer Draingo at left tackle.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of sounds like the left tackle situation we have going on right now.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: And then all, let's see, the left guard.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, gee, it's the same dude.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's Joel Betonio.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then you've got J.C.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Treader at Center, Kevin Zitler at Wright Guard, and Sean Coleman at Wright Tackle.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: So Spencer Drando and Sean Coleman at your tackles for Hugh Jackson in 2017.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: Very similar to the tackle situation, the chemist of fancies dealing with right now, with the Brown's offense here in 2025, the interior of that O line, Jolbetonio, JC Trader, Kevin Zitler, pretty good.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, those are those are your solid interior of your O line, just like we've got Jolbetonio, Ethan Posick, and White Teller right now.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: What I'm pointing to here is the offense is being run poorly.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: There's no excuse for Kevin Stephansky to have a worse statistical offense than Hugh Jackson had in 2017 and what I was going to say, a couple of minutes ago, I know there's people that are going to point to the schedule.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Well, look at the schedule we opened with.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: We started out with a gauntlet.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: It was the hardest schedule in the NFL.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, two of our games so far were against the Bengals and the Ravens.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: The Bengals, we only scored 16 points against the Cincinnati Bengals defense, which is terrible, terrible defense.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: That game does not belong as part of this gauntlet schedule to open the season.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: And then we played the Ravens.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, guys, think about the Ravens defense.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: We have a sample size now.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: So we can look back and say, what we thought was a tough team.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Week two against the Ravens was not.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns offense scored three.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I want you guys to think about this.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: I've said it before, I'm gonna say it again.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: three legitimate points, competitive points against the Raven's defense.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: The late garbage time touched down by Dylan Gabriel doesn't count because the game was over.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking that off the, yeah, I just am because they were playing back up.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: The game was done.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: That was it.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, we're there only win this season.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: They're one and four just like we are.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then the other touch, the only touch down the brown score during the competitive portion of that game was a blown in his hand's interception by I think it was Marlon Humphrey popped up in the air and maybe it was Kyle Hamilton behind him.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: There were like two ravens defenders that should have picked off Joe Flack was past.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Fulfill flipped in the air, landed in Cedricilman's hands in the end zone for a touchdown.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: So it was a fluky touchdown.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I say the Brown scored three because we kicked a field goal.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Three legitimate competitive points.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: against the Ravens defense who in their other four games this season are averaging 40 points.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not I didn't say four.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't say 14.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: 40 40 points given up.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: They gave up 41 to the bills 38 to the lines 37 to the chiefs and 44 to the Texans.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we scored three.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Three.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: what what gauntlet what gauntlet I know we had to play the packers and guess what we beat them we beat them on the back of our defensive grandelpa doesn't get that interception take it down to the goal line we don't win that game well also if we don't block that field wall times at the end too like
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: We won that game, and I'm happy we won that game, but it was not on the back of our or any offensive output whatsoever.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then, yes, we had to play the Lions, they're a great team.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: So that was a very tough matchup, and then we go and play the Vikings in London.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: And this is, so I posted this on X the other day and it's funny because then Blake tried to contradict it and it didn't go very well.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: So you had Kevin O'Connell versus Kevin Stefanski in London on Sunday and I said, Kevin O'Connell had three backup offensive linemen.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: He had a backup quarterback
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: his starting running back Aaron Jones was on IR for this game.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: He benched.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: He coaches decision benched his second best wide receiver for the first quarter.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: KOC was going against the top defense in the league.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Kevin's to fansky and the Brown's offense was going against the top three past defense in the league.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: KOC and the Vikings were going against the number one overall defense period in the league.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: KOC's offense fumbled twice to that great defense.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: His kicker missed a feel goal that would have tied the game.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: The Vikings committed seven penalties for 50 yards and KOC's quarterback was sacked three times Owen Carson once by the way, had to leave the first half early.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Right before halftime to go get a shot in his shoulder because he got banged up on a run,
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: Vikings found a way to win.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: So just this whole gauntlet schedule thing I don't buy it.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't buy it.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: Vikings were down like they were if you should win that game.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: Should have won that game.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: Should have won that game.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: Should have won the Bengals game.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: No excuse to get beat by the Ravens.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: No excuse.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: No excuse looking back now after five weeks.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's no excuse to lose the bangles if you have any what of a good offense because you can move the ball and you can score points on the Ravens defense and we have this high flying elite number one defense or whatever.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I think we're looking at a case of the 2023 situation where the Browns defense at home is the elite defense

- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is the same story we saw on 2023 just kind of switching gears to the defensive side of the ball for a moment.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like that in 2023.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: The browns defense at home.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think was like the number one defense in the league.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: on the road, I forget the number, they were like 26 or 27.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: They were bottom of the league, bottom 10 defense on the road.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: This year on the road, you saw Lamar Jackson dice this up for four touchdowns, you saw the lions on the road, just do whatever they want with us.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I consider, and I know it's gonna be tough looking at box score splits and things like that.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: With this London game technically being listed as a home game for the Browns.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: This was not this was a road game for everybody involved again on the road Not in Cleveland the Browns defense once again Not a leat gave up what 305 some yards or something like I forget what the number was they they they they moved the ball on us pretty well on the ground and through the air and you know a lot of people Who are
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: Against my argument here with chaos here like well, you know, yeah, sure they're quote-unquote starting quarterback was out But you know Carson once is better than JJ McCarthy guys.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's still Carson once.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's still Carson once This guy was basically out of the league He's been through half of the half of the teams in the league over his you know the last several years of his career can't stick anywhere.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do anything anywhere But who's he paired with now Kevin O'Connell and he looks like a competent quarterback
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people will say, you know, that this is your two-time head coach of the year you're talking about here.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Kevin Sifansky, two-time head coach of the year.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's one head coach of the year, two times.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: Guys.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: Two head coach of the year awards when you're 4 and 20 and in your last 24 games, don't mean dilute to me, okay?
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot of coaches who have not won head coach of the year or definitely not two head coach of the year awards who you could never argue are better than Kevin's or worse than Kevin's to Fansky, ever.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Sean McVay has won head coach of the year once, Kevin O'Connell just now won it in 2024.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, Andy Reed has not won head coach of the year since 2002.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure he's doing very well with the chiefs.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: John Harball, let's see, was head coach of the year in 2019.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Tomlin, interesting.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Tomlin, Mr. never been below 500 in his career, has never been head coach of the year.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: And he's definitely a better coach than Kevin Safansky.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying that the two-time head coach of the years thing, the cool, that's great.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's great accolades, great to put on your resume from when you're looking for that next job.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't do anything for me whenever you're 4 and 20 in your last 24 games doesn't do anything for me.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, by the way, 2022 Brian Dable with the giants one head coach of the year.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's long for the ride in New York with the way they've performed over his tenure there.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just, we got to look at this, how it is.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: This team is poorly coached.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: The penalties every, I mean, every year we lead the league in pre-snap penalties over all penalties were among the league leaders.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: Every year we lead the league in turn, others, which by the way, if you're looking for a positive
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: out of this podcast that I just realized has been extremely negative and I apologize.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: Team sucks right now.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: What do you want for me?
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: If you want a positive, Dylan Gabriel is the first Brown's quarterback to not commit a turn over, at least I think I saw something about that on next.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I didn't bring up a lot of notes for this.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: I just kind of went into this thing talking about what I'm feeling here.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: The Brown said no turnovers.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't throw an interception.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that was the first time the Browns have not thrown an interception since I was like early last year.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was before like before Watson got hurt.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: There were some games where he didn't throw a pick.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: And since then, every game we've had at least one interception with.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: James, with DTR, with Zapy, with Flacco,
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, good job.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan Gabriel taking care of the ball again, going back to that game on Sunday, thought, you know, I agree with Blake.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: There was nothing that wowed me with Dylan Gabriel, but if you guys watched the preview show last week that I did, I wasn't expecting to be wowed by Dylan Gabriel.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: I was expecting, honestly, exactly what he did.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: you know, a limited game plan, a limited playbook, take care of the ball, you know, rely on the run game, all that kind of stuff.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought Dylan played well.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously, Quint John Juddkins is that dude.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: So we got a voicemail here.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to go through this real quick.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: This one is from Devante.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: There it goes, this is Devante here.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: So, for years, I said it was Baker, said it was the online, which is 100% correctional, the lack of weapons, the lack of unadulting the room, the official lack of DTR, James, Jacobian, the official lack of again.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: Bill and Gabriel.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: We have to look at this from the top to bottom.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: It seems not a bad halit team.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: They are a bad coach team.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's often sustained.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's very predictable.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's no body that scares you.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_00]: So buckle up a next two months it is three months.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: So go brown.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: Go Browns indeed, Devonti, you know, he said there this is not a bad talent team.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: I already went through the offensive side of the ball for Hugh Jackson's 2017 winless team and Kevin's defense team this year and made the argument obviously.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys don't agree, let me know in the comments, I think that Kevin's offense, while it's not loaded with talent by any stretch of the imagination.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: is still better than the Deshawn Kaiser Isaiah Crowell, Cory Coleman, Ricardo Lewis, you know, Randall Telfer offense, I think, having David and Joe Koo in his 8th or 9th year right now being what he is, having Harold Fanon, having Jerry Judy's obviously better than Ricardo Lewis and Cory Coleman.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: Quint Shawn Judkins is obviously better than Isaiah Crowell.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: You guys, let me know what you think about Kaiser versus Flacco and Gabriel.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: But the point is Kevin definitely has, he's got better stuff than what Jackson had back then.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: But if you look at the defensive side of the ball, the Browns have such a good defense right now.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: Such a good defense with Miles Garrett with Denzel Ward with Grant Delpid.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: You got Malikons, Mason Graham and Carson Swesinger and all these guys.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: I know Greg Newsom was getting burnt again up and down the field and all that kind of stuff the other day, but I mean, he's still a decent cornerback.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: This is who we had in 2017.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is Hugh Jackson had this defense.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: that I'm about to list in 2017.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: So on the edges, there was Miles Garrett rookie, Miles Garrett, remember that?
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: Because this is not the same Miles Garrett that is the elite future hall of fame or that he is now.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is rookie Miles Garrett.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: And on the other side, it was Emmanuel Agba.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: In the middle, Trevon, Coli, and Danny Shelton.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, Malik, I mean, I don't even want to compare.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: I hate doing this because obviously our defense is a million times better than what the defense was back then.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: Linebackers, Christian Kirk, ski, Kirksea, Joe showbird, and James Burgess, cornerbacks, Jason McCordy, old, Jason McCordy, and Jamar Taylor, and your safeties were Gibberl peppers and Derek Kindred.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: So with a worse offense and a significantly worse defense in 2017, Hugh Jackson's offensive statistical output was slightly better than what Kevin's is and his record was only one game worse than what Kevin's record is right now.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: Now, can things turn around?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to bring in some positivity here.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: Try to bring it into the show because we've got a long season.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: We've got 12 games left to go.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, of course, things can turn around for the Browns.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, I've been on record here on this show's talking about how it's just, I don't like to schedule watch, way down the line, especially before the season because you just don't know.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: You just don't know what any of these teams are actually going to be.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we were to thought the ravens would have been way better than what they have shown that they are through five weeks now.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: We have some data.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: We have some sample size, five weeks of the NFL season and all that kind of stuff.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I will do it.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: I will go through the schedule right now.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: And let's see what we got going on on what you guys, they are coming along with me in the comments wherever you're watching or listening because I just want to hear what you guys have to say.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: So Steelers this week, again, we'll do our preview show on Thursday, 3 p.m.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: Eastern in the discord live.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: Make sure if you guys want to get in there, go to join thedogs.com.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the Steelers game
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I will say this on Thursday, they are, it's the Steelers.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's Mike Tomlin, at home, coming off a by week against the Browns.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin Stephanski traveling back from London, Miles Garrett has already said that they were tired and exhausted from the travel to London.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: They just got their butts embarrassed over there and now they're coming back from London short week for practice and all that kind of stuff to get ready for the Steelers who have had two weeks to rest and prepare.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: I give us pretty much zero chance in this game.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's just me.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys have a more optimistic output or outlook, let me know.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: but then next week, the Dolphins at home.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's an interesting game.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's a game where if Kevin Sophia wants to write the ship and get this team an impressive win.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like if we come out and we beat the Dolphins 13 to 10 or 17 to 16, that's kind of be disappointing.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is a game.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: If you are any bit of a competitive good football team,
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: You should lay one on the dolphins, but I don't think they will.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that there's a chance they win.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I'm not going to predict wins for this team until they show me wins.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: Just the way I roll.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: At the Patriots after that, my variable, this Patriot's team, is picking up steam.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: That could be tough.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's at the jets.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: Again, the jets are not a good team.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: They're own five.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's a road game, and we've talked about how the defense is just not elite on the road.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: That could be interesting.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: Then we're at home against the Ravens, we'll save Lamar Jackson's back for that.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: The Ravens' defense is so bad our offense should be able to do something.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: And each of these weeks, each of these games, Dylan Gabriel, has another week under his belt, another week of experience, hopefully the playbooks expanding a little more.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: And he's getting a little bit more under his feet and all that kind of stuff.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: So things could definitely change for the Browns and their offense specifically.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: You got then you're at the Raiders right there before I think that's before Thanksgiving.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: another road game and then the 49ers come in here and the 49ers are good and and they're well coached.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: I've made that point.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: Then you got the Titans at home.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: I can't lose to the Titans.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot lose to the Titans.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then you go to Chicago and play the Bears and then you're back home against the Bills.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: The Steelers and then you wrap it up against the Bancels.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: There are wins.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: There are wins on this schedule that are coming.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns are not going to
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: At least I don't think so.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now again, I said I'm not going to go through and predict which games these guys are going to win and declare to at least say that's a win.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: They need to prove it to me.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: They need to show me and do it.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: But just the odds, the odds of the NFL and a football in general say there are some games in the next 12 we or next 12 games next 13 weeks to finish out the season that the Browns are going to win.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: So let's see if this team can get things back on track, especially on the offensive side of the ball, because it's pathetic guys.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: This is sad.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: Very sad.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: So let me know what you guys think about the comparisons between, you know, the first five weeks of the season for Hugh Jackson in 2017.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin Stofingski here in 2025.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: All that kind of stuff.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: I want to make it clear right now while I am fully on board with moving on from Kevin and AB and this entire regime.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: After this season is over, I am on board after the season is over.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: I want to make that point.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not advocating for anybody to get fired now.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: That makes no sense.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: That would not be good for the team.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: It would just it wouldn't help anything.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: It wouldn't help anything.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see how the season goes.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Kevin can get things back on track.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we can catch lightning in the bottle the way we did.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: The second half of 2023 and a season that looked like it was going to be lost completely and then unpredictable, unforeseen things happened.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: We got an easy stretch of games down the back end of the season.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Flacco came in.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody was expecting the Browns to do what they did.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe that happens again.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: I just wouldn't predict it.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: with this team is let's watch these rookies let's watch Harrell fan and continue to develop let's watch the quarterbacks let's watch Dylan Gabriel and see if he holds on to the starting job or feet you know seeds way to should or Sanders here at some point in the season let's watch Quinshawn Judd can continue to hopefully can he's
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think right now, he's the best, I think he's eighth in the league in rushing yards.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's the best of all the rookie running backs.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Marion Hampton for the Chargers just went on IR.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to miss at least four games with an ankle injury, Ashton Jente and the Raiders suck.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: really they suck and bad.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: So a Quintion Judkins has a clear path here to finish the season as the top rookie running back rusher from this class.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's exciting.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: Isaiah Bond is a great young, wide receiver talent.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: I want to talent that needs to be developed and that's another whole other issue with this coaching staff is developing players especially.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: wide receivers, but let's continue to see what Isaiah Bond can show on the field, because we're going to need to overhaul a lot of positions next year.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we need to know which guys we can rely on and bring along for the ride.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, one last thing I wanted to, I want to make sure I talk about this.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: David and Joku.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let me know what you guys think in the comments again about all this stuff, but especially David and Joku.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: For me, there are two possible outcomes for David and
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: either David and Joke who is going to be traded within the next, what is this?
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be weeks six, the trade deadlines in week nine, so in the next three weeks.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: Or he will be extended.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I'm not saying he'll be extended within the next three weeks.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying he will either be traded.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: And if the trade deadline comes in passes,
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: Then we know he's getting extended at some point, probably later in the season or definitely well, I guess you can even say in the off season because he'd be a for agent, but definitely later in the season, you will see an extension come down for David and Joku.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: this team is like one in six or one in six two and six something like that when we're looking down that week nine trade deadline maybe they trade David and Joker and I'm not saying I want them to that's I would love to see David stay here and you know be a Cleveland Brown for the rest of his career actually I would I would advocate strongly for the Browns to keep him extend him because if you get rid of David and Joker if you trade David and Joker
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: One, you're saying we really don't want to be competitive on offense this season because he is your only playmaking weapon in the receiving game, like he's it, he's it, I mean, Harold Fannon, yes, again, rookie, has shown well so far this season, but it's still rookie.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: Can't rely on Jerry Judy at all like at all and after him the wide receiver core is I mean, it's it's 2017 Hugh Jackson team bad
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: If you get rid of David and Joke, what are you telling Dylan Gabriel should or Sanders?
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we're going to get rid of your best offensive weapon.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, these two, it's either going to be Dylan and or slash the door next year, or pencil in whatever rookie quarterback we draft to come in here to compete, whatever the situation is next year.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're telling those guys, hey, we're getting rid of your best weapon.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think they need to keep David and Joku as that security blanket as that, you know, go to Targenot.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: He drops the ball to a lot and things like that, but he's better than anything else we have.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's clearly that guy that weapon right now in the passing game.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I think they need to extend him.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: Will they?
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: Or will they trade them?
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see, like I said, let me know what you guys think, but I just wanted to talk about David and Joe Kuhu.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen some things on social media people talking about how they wouldn't be surprised if he gets traded.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't be surprised if he gets traded either, but I don't want them to.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see what this team, what the, what the record is, how they're performing, and what things are looking like as the trade deadline approaches here in the next few weeks.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: So let me know all your thoughts and opinions on this again.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: if you are fully on board with Kevin Stephansky and you think it's all on the players and all that stuff that's that's totally fine I I like Kevin I said this before I don't think he's a bad coach
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think he's a great coach.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think he is a different-making coach.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: His offense is bad, it's still, it's unimaginative, it's just, it's never going to be what we need it to be to go anywhere or do anything special.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: in the National Football League.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's just my opinion.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you have a different one, let me know.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: Give me a reason thing.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to hear your arguments, your point of view, your side of things, and why you feel the way you do.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: And if you think I'm wrong, tell me why.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: Just let me know because again, I've said it a million times and I'll say now, I hope I'm wrong.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: I hope so.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: I hope I look back at these videos a year from now and say,
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: I really hope that's the case.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: But I hope.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's enough.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get out of here.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'll see you guys on Thursday for the dog pack discord live show.
