- Brad Peters: Welcome to the Recipe for Results. This is your podcast extra for certification in the hotel, restaurant, and bar industry, brought to you by HRB Universal. This is the brief on the Augusta Georgia Serve Safe Food Protection Manager exam and course. Think of this August 25, 2026 HRB Universal event as your ultimate VIP pass to keeping your restaurant legal and your customer safe. First, let's talk about the standards. Its National Restaurant Association developed an ANSI CFB accredited, perfectly meeting the strict FDA Food Code Section 2.102.12 mandate, requiring a certified manager on duty at all times. So, is this just textbook fluff? No way. It's actually based on real-world job tasks from industry experts meant to build a lasting culture of food safety. Now that we know why this certification is absolutely crucial. Let's look at how the actual training day is structured to get you there. Second, expect a pretty fast-paced schedule. Check-in is at 8:30 a.m., your review lecture runs from 8.45 a.m. to 1 p.m. You grab an hour for lunch, and then the exam runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. But here's a massive warning: you can't just show up cold. The morning is only a review, so self-study using the HRB Universal Online Training Portal beforehand is absolutely required. Since you've put in the self-study and sat through the review, what exactly does taking the exam look like? Finally, let's hit logistics and cost. It's an electronic exam offered in English, Spanish, Chinese, and French Canadian, though paper exams require a 20-day advance request. Worried your old laptop might crash mid-test? Don't stress, they literally hand you an Amazon Fire tablet if you need it. It costs $179 for the full combo or $129 if you just drop in at 2 p.m. for the exam only. Dedicating just one day to this course is the ultimate investment in your food service career and your customers' well-being.
