[SPEAKER_01]: Five, six, seven, eight, Loukey.
0:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about Loukey.
0:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And Suckey.
0:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.
0:08
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, here we go.
0:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Hi everybody.
0:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to Gilmour to say with Terran Haley.
0:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Terran.
0:19
[SPEAKER_00]: This is Haley.
0:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Haley.
0:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Terran.
0:22
[SPEAKER_00]: You hate it.
0:23
[SPEAKER_00]: It's Thanksgiving time.
0:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Almost.
0:26
[SPEAKER_02]: It is almost Thanksgiving time.
0:28
[SPEAKER_02]: But, but you hated that.
0:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Luke, you hate Luke.
0:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Luke is just so funny.
0:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to say every time it's because that's what the episode is about.
0:38
[SPEAKER_02]: The episode is about, but literally Tara hates Luke.
0:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see it.
0:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Luke, you think it's cute?
0:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Luke, you maybe it's the way I say it.
0:46
[SPEAKER_02]: She's always like, no, I don't guess.
0:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't tell kids, but it is almost Thanksgiving.
0:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Next week is the Thanksgiving time here in the U.S.
0:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I know that Canada already had it.
0:59
[SPEAKER_02]: We have some Canadian listeners.
1:00
[SPEAKER_02]: They already had their Thanksgiving and there's not one in England because
1:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they don't like to have any fun, but, well, it is Thanksgiving fun.
1:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what it is.
1:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Be grateful that we're not Native Americans who had our land stolen and exchanged for smallpox-infested blankets.
1:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Amen.
1:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Amen.
1:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:24
[SPEAKER_02]: No, but I love Thanksgiving because I feel like it's more so just about like your family coming together, making good food Yeah, and just just all having a great grand time maybe fighting with an on goal or something Yeah, maybe the standards maybe maybe maybe your crazy family members all come in and you find out They haven't changed since last year.
1:46
[SPEAKER_02]: There's still crazy
1:48
[SPEAKER_00]: It's true.
1:49
[SPEAKER_00]: It's true.
1:49
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I love Thanksgiving.
1:50
[SPEAKER_00]: It's really it's one of the only times during the year that I know I'm going to see my family Which I think is Really rich a lot of people feel that way.
1:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure.
2:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Fortunately or unfortunately.
2:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever.
2:02
[SPEAKER_00]: What other side of that you exist on
2:04
[SPEAKER_00]: That is true.
2:04
[SPEAKER_00]: For me personally, I love my family.
2:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I know you do too.
2:07
[SPEAKER_00]: You spend a lot of time with your family.
2:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
2:09
[SPEAKER_00]: I spend as much time with my family as I can.
2:11
[SPEAKER_00]: It's also Brett's favorite holiday.
2:14
[SPEAKER_00]: So, that is so Blair Waldorf of him.
2:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I owe him a lot of gossip girl recently.
2:19
[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of gossip girl.
2:21
[SPEAKER_02]: But like that is so Blair Waldorf.
2:22
[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm talking about Thanksgiving.
2:24
[SPEAKER_00]: It really is.
2:25
[SPEAKER_00]: And he loves gossip girl too.
2:27
[SPEAKER_00]: So,
2:28
[SPEAKER_02]: So it really, it really just, like if there's one person I think of when I think Blair Waldorf, I think, breathed you.
2:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
2:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Why wouldn't you?
2:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Why wouldn't you do anything for Thanksgiving this year?
2:37
[SPEAKER_02]: What do you guys have planned?
2:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, well, I'm coming back.
2:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in Florida right now.
2:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, by the time the Sarah's, I will not be in Florida anymore.
2:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I'll probably be on my way back down.
2:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I'm coming back down because my sister and my brother both lived down here.
2:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and their kids.
2:51
[SPEAKER_02]: So I am like, in charge of Thanksgiving dinner, where we do like early after noon, late evening or, I know, we call it dinner, but it's happening at like 2 p.m. Yeah.
3:02
[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually whatever time of day I've done I finished cooking like that's really what it is.
3:08
[SPEAKER_02]: It's me and my sister and mommy and me and my brother-in-law.
3:11
[SPEAKER_02]: We all wear the chefs of Thanksgiving.
3:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And I make a little plan.
3:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I make a little list.
3:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Some my brother-in-law's family is coming.
3:18
[SPEAKER_02]: So we're having an even bigger Thanksgiving this year.
3:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
3:21
[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm really the sukiya.
3:21
[SPEAKER_02]: at all.
3:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm making a schedule, making sure that everyone's dietary needs are met, but then making too much dessert and making too much mashed potatoes.
3:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So that the next day, the day after, you can have a leftover Thanksgiving sandwich, which is maybe my favorite meal.
3:38
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a favorite part, I feel.
3:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like literally put in hours and hours of work to make a Thanksgiving dinner so that I can have a Thanksgiving leftover sandwich.
3:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I have a I already started my schedule for the day what we're going to make what we have to put into it, who's going to make what And yeah, that's that's really what things giving is a marathon not a sprint.
4:03
[SPEAKER_00]: It is a Korean marathon not a sprint speaking of the New York City marathon just happened here yesterday all the time that we're recording this and hunter of my and hunter
4:13
[SPEAKER_00]: ran the marathon.
4:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I had so many friends who did it.
4:16
[SPEAKER_00]: He did it in three hours and 16 minutes.
4:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I was so I think it was three hours of 14 minutes.
4:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Was it?
4:21
[SPEAKER_00]: It was three hours and a team team in a time.
4:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so unbelievably proud of anybody who can do it in any amount of time.
4:30
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're talking about yesterday because I was at death because her one of her dressers was running the race and she ran it in like
4:40
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just so impressed with people who can do it in general, but can also do it in a time like that that's so impressive and mean So that consistency.
4:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like, oh, I could never I could never can I tell you something funny?
4:52
[SPEAKER_02]: So I got Hunter's number.
4:53
[SPEAKER_02]: So I was tracking him along the course while I was sitting in my couch and floor Oh, love you're a little sweet.
4:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And I saw there was like a little sim ahead of him that said pro men group and I was like
5:05
[SPEAKER_02]: What?
5:07
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a whole group of like pro men, like pro men?
5:11
[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, I was like hunter speed up.
5:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Go talk to those guys.
5:14
[SPEAKER_02]: We're not pro men.
5:15
[SPEAKER_02]: And then it got a little closer and it said pro women.
5:18
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, oh, that's the professional men.
5:21
[SPEAKER_02]: And the professional women.
5:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
5:24
[SPEAKER_02]: No one's pro men.
5:26
[SPEAKER_02]: We're not doing pro men groups.
5:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, I was like,
5:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Are you in my scene marathon is making a it's it literally said it was like a little circle that said pro man and I was like Not no we're why we're not protesting them We're not we're not because they're super fast and they're super great arounding and so funny.
5:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I like you realize like how I'm speed up.
5:45
[SPEAKER_02]: You need it up ahead of mile nine
5:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I love it.
5:50
[SPEAKER_02]: So anyone's going to help them at Tim, but I just was like, oh, wow, I don't think my brain's awake.
5:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
5:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It was really when I saw pro women that I was like, oh, yeah.
6:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, well, I can, I can go with that one and I was like, why is there too?
6:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, the professional professional, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
6:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Good job, everyone.
6:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Good job.
6:15
[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite thing is seeing everyone's videos of how everyone showed up for people, one of them that I loved so much as this guy was running and his friend kind of stepped out into the course and exploded a confetti bomb in front of him so that when he ran through to his family he was like confetti was raining down on him and they were just all like cheering his name and like I sort of crying because I was like it's so scary.
6:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so we're at the finish line last year with Nancy and Tim because Scarlet and Dave were running the racer Right, and it was such an emotional experience.
6:52
[SPEAKER_00]: We met so many people who had family members loved ones friends It's et cetera in the race and or in the marathon.
6:58
[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's a race, but it's a race for some people Yeah, it's exactly for the pro men everyone ever the pro men.
7:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly
7:05
[SPEAKER_00]: So it was just such a wonderful experience and a very emotional one because you're yelling for people that you quite literally do not know There are absolutely strangers people come from all over the world to do this and like we were just yelling I mean like you've got this because we were right at the finish line and we could see some people who were just Storing and crying like so relieved it was it was in a ray of emotions.
7:29
[SPEAKER_00]: It was really cool
7:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, really cold.
7:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, emotional.
7:32
[SPEAKER_02]: And that anyway, I'm just excited to get on Instagram later today.
7:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's true and see everybody's priorities.
7:38
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, Thanksgiving similar to the New York City marathon and any marathon for that matter is a marathon not a sprint.
7:44
[SPEAKER_00]: You got to pace yourself out the day.
7:45
[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to pace yourself.
7:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't skip the roles.
7:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but pace yourself.
7:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not having four dinners.
7:52
[SPEAKER_02]: But I am having, I'm having one in some leftover.
7:55
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's like two.
7:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
7:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's pretty.
7:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
7:59
[SPEAKER_02]: What about you?
8:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Are you going to have some of your or not your Brett Skumbo?
8:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh for sure for sure.
8:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so Brett is actually working with Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade this year.
8:08
[SPEAKER_00]: So he or he, oh my gosh, that's the last part.
8:11
[SPEAKER_00]: He's done like an adjacent event.
8:13
[SPEAKER_00]: But this time, I'm actually doing the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
8:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, no last year they did the parade.
8:18
[SPEAKER_00]: It was pouring rain.
8:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And I ended up going home.
8:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And he was slipping.
8:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
8:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Dick, the dancers were so slim and slim.
8:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm slim.
8:28
[UNKNOWN]: I'm slim.
8:29
[UNKNOWN]: I'm slim.
8:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm slim.
8:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was very rainy.
8:30
[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully, better weather this year, I will be going home to see my family.
8:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I think we haven't talked about what the plans are.
8:37
[SPEAKER_00]: This weekend is my cousin's wedding.
8:38
[SPEAKER_00]: So I will see all of them and we will probably, once we're through the wedding, we will probably have a lot of conversations about what they're going to be on six weddings this month.
8:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I have three weddings and they're all taking place in less than two weeks.
8:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, one of the things we're doing today, after we were putting in the morning.
8:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
8:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And then we have a wedding this Friday, and then a wedding the following weekend in Florida.
8:59
[SPEAKER_00]: So things are literally three week, three weddings in two weeks, which is crazy crazy.
9:05
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited, but it's gonna be a lot of that.
9:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Three weddings should have Thanksgiving.
9:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Three weddings and a Thanksgiving.
9:11
[SPEAKER_00]: That is the sequel to four weddings in a funeral.
9:15
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, something more fun.
9:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I know, it does, does something more fun.
9:19
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so we'll see what things giving brings for our family.
9:24
[SPEAKER_00]: But I know that at some point I will be coming home and Brett and I will have gumbo and cornbread.
9:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not a little tradition for us.
9:32
[SPEAKER_00]: So...
9:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited.
9:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I love November.
9:35
[SPEAKER_00]: It's great month.
9:35
[SPEAKER_00]: We get the marathon.
9:37
[SPEAKER_00]: We get to gap about, you know, all of the fun things that transpire on Gilmore girls that have to do with Thanksgiving and fall.
9:44
[SPEAKER_00]: And then it's brought to us.
9:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And then it's Thanksgiving.
9:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, the holiday season, which I know a lot of people start in November.
9:50
[SPEAKER_00]: We wait Brett has a hard time at school.
9:53
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not until Santa Claus comes out at the Thanksgiving Day parade that it is Christmas time for him.
9:58
[SPEAKER_02]: see rules rules don't apply here my my sister is fully decorated for Christmas.
10:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm sure and listen I got a very beautiful feeling and I understand that there are people who want to bask in that feeling as long as they can.
10:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of
10:13
[SPEAKER_00]: straddle the line.
10:15
[SPEAKER_00]: I support people who want to, you know, start decorating for Christmas, but I, we tended to really leave November open for Thanksgiving and then after, honestly, it wasn't until after my birthday.
10:25
[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about this on the pod that we would start decorating for Christmas, but that's such a short period of time.
10:29
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I give people their graces to do what they wish and to spend their holiday on it.
10:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Like,
10:35
[SPEAKER_00]: do whatever you like yeah it's your last Thanksgiving as an unmarried lady it is it's crazy we're now in the territory of like i keep thinking about that i'm like it's my last Thanksgiving is an unmarried lady it's gonna be my last birthday is an unmarried lady it's quite crazy and yeah the countdown is begun it's like we're doing a lot of elasts before we get married which is really cool
11:02
[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, it is Thanksgiving time.
11:06
[SPEAKER_00]: We wanted to do a food episode of course because it's Thanksgiving and what's screams Thanksgiving more than food and something that I've been really excited to talk about and I was really excited to pitch this episode to you last year when we were kind of configuring our entire year.
11:20
[SPEAKER_02]: No, you guys, Tara has been so excited about this episode for years.
11:24
[SPEAKER_00]: My years.
11:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Tara's been dying to do this episode and we're here today to do it.
11:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I feel her dream.
11:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that like a food fights episode is so fun, especially between the two characters that we're going to talk about today, Luke and Sugey, because they are the representation of food on the show that really centers food, centers summer girls, of course, but there
11:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Relationship also centers around food in a lot of ways.
11:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I feel like a lot of people family time means like family meals Right in eight dinners, but it's also like it's how a lot of people around her Express their love for her because like I mean well, they go to Luke's diner.
12:01
[SPEAKER_02]: That's not really expressing love as much as That's what he does at his practice.
12:06
[SPEAKER_00]: It is true, but they're in some level of love and
12:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, for example, you know, he does not exchange goods and services from money.
12:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
12:25
[SPEAKER_02]: But no, he definitely like will acquiesce to whatever he wants.
12:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Like he brings her chicken noodle soup for breakfast.
12:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I'm not imagining that everyone in Star's Hall, it was able to order that, he probably tell them, very gently, what is it, what is it, Dean says, buck off.
12:40
[SPEAKER_02]: When I imagine he wants to say something very different, but very very very different, I feel like then yet.
12:48
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's almost the same.
12:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that would be Luke to anyone else, but he really provides for them.
12:54
[SPEAKER_02]: And Suki, she's like always ready to make whatever you want, because that's just Suki's love language in general.
12:59
[SPEAKER_02]: But it's really that those two characters quote-unquote were putting them like in food fights together This moments where they're pitted against each other, but it's really because they're like those are the two people who are giving Boralai They're love via food.
13:14
[SPEAKER_00]: It's true.
13:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Is there love language in something I mean I would say for suki more than Luke Luke is more of an active service guy, but sometimes in he delivers the act of service through the service industry
13:28
[SPEAKER_02]: No, wait, okay, I actually do think it is love language to a certain degree because suki is like so just willing to love everyone, you know?
13:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Like she just is so open, she has such an open heart and she's just so like such a fun loving person.
13:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Luke, I wouldn't call him fun loving.
13:48
[SPEAKER_02]: he's fun, maybe, loving, seldomly.
13:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And it reminds me of the parties over in season five, when Liz comes, and she's like, oh, make him make you her's a gumbo, or he made Luzon, like a hundred Luzonias, trying to get his Luzonias right?
14:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And Lord, I didn't know this about him because we really, like, the expansion, the expansion touki of Luke's culinary expertise isn't until they start dating, and so it feels like it's like this level of Luke that gets unlocked that is only offered to his.
14:23
[SPEAKER_02]: partner to your life.
14:25
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like you had to level up from burgers and pancakes and omelets to stuffed tomatoes with breadcrumbs and goat cheese and everything that he does in season five.
14:37
[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel like it's his love language, but it's his love language and that he doesn't give love.
14:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Very much.
14:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Just to the one person.
14:43
[SPEAKER_00]: No, but we start to see sprinkleings of that in season one like when he makes the coffee cake for worry when he makes that just specifically for her and then later a couple episodes after that in season one and forgiveness and stuff when he makes the Santa burger for Laura like they all do that for just any
15:01
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, and so as it starts to see that as the we've made that for his enemy.
15:06
[SPEAKER_00]: But you start to see that as kind of the vessel for him showing affection for the Gilmple Suspecialian season one.
15:15
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I know you.
15:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I know what you like, which he does say to them at one point, which I'm excited to talk about later.
15:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And I know what you need when you need cheering up or when it's a special day for you.
15:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think that he does use that as an avenue to show that he cares.
15:30
[SPEAKER_00]: He is more of an acts of service guy, but to see that kind of sprinkled throughout.
15:34
[SPEAKER_00]: the series leading up to this kind of big moment in season five when Luke and Laura later dating and all of a sudden his culinary expertise just kind of comes out of him via Liz being like, oh make her this make her that and it's like, I'm sorry.
15:48
[SPEAKER_00]: What?
15:48
[SPEAKER_00]: What?
15:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Where are you going to know this?
15:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Where have you been hiding it?
15:51
[SPEAKER_02]: It feels like like from the coffee cake to the Santa Burger.
15:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just this like path that we're going along and then they get together and it's like new level unlocked and it's like gourmet
16:04
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that cookie is an acts of service because it's like 100% you're having to put your time into this thing to provide for someone because I know that's that's really like a way that I express love for people like your your tired.
16:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to make dinner.
16:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to make exactly all of a sudden.
16:20
[SPEAKER_00]: When Brett makes me dinner, it's just so so sweet.
16:23
[SPEAKER_00]: It does feel like a true act of service.
16:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And it is.
16:26
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's not a good lot of time to this.
16:28
[SPEAKER_03]: And I hope it tastes good.
16:29
[SPEAKER_03]: And if it doesn't, don't say anything.
16:34
[SPEAKER_00]: But because these are two characters that really show their love, their care, their affection, especially for the Gilmore girls, but in general, I thought it would be really cool to talk about the ways in which they're pitted up against each other during the show because they are more separated than they are put together on this.
16:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
16:55
[SPEAKER_00]: given their proximity to lower life with emotionally and physically, it's very shocking that they aren't pitted up against each other more often.
17:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that when we started the series, maybe that was a path that they were hoping to take.
17:07
[SPEAKER_00]: But I know they were trying to figure out a lot of things in season one.
17:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so it didn't quite take shape outside of the first episode where we really see it, which is cinnamon's wake season one episode five.
17:19
[SPEAKER_00]: But I love the ways that they sprinkle it throughout personally, I kind of love that wasn't like a true rivalry.
17:27
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just it's always lingering in the background and it is a through line because we see it in seasons one three five and six.
17:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I don't even know that it's like a rivalry, like I'm glad that they didn't go that route.
17:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's just personalities clashing against each other.
17:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
17:46
[SPEAKER_02]: But if they had kept sort of like the rivalry going, I honestly don't think it would have made sense location-wise because it makes sense because they're proximity to Lorelei, but this is like Lorelei's like breakfast spot.
17:58
[SPEAKER_02]: sometimes her lunch spot, sometimes her dinner spot, and then it's like where she works, and it's like suki kind of they, if they lay crossed over too much, one of the things that always confounds me, confuses me, but fuddles me, if you will, is that Laura lay just leaves work, and ends up at Luke's so often or just goes off to do something else with Luke.
18:16
[SPEAKER_02]: So if they were also doing that with suki, I'd be like, okay, who's running that in?
18:19
[SPEAKER_02]: who's doing anything over there.
18:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, totally.
18:22
[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel like logistically it makes sense that they're kind of separated, but I like that it's just like two of lower-lies, like main spots, has someone who cares for her in that way.
18:33
[SPEAKER_02]: But when they do,
18:35
[SPEAKER_02]: combine crossover, combined storylines.
18:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I do like what comes out.
18:41
[SPEAKER_02]: That it's like suki, fun-loving, super-controlling.
18:45
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, loop kind of acquiesces to that.
18:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes.
18:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, but I think that, you know, especially in cinnamon's wake in season one, you can tell that they're kind of grading up against each other in the ways that they present their food.
19:00
[SPEAKER_00]: both on a presentation level like the way it's plated, but also in how it's presented to the public.
19:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because it starts out, I think that we start to see this quote unquote rival rear, at least the budding of heads, the clashing of personalities and of culinary styles in the diner, in that scene where L'Oralai and Suki are talking about Max are kind of deep refing,
19:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because she had just gone to coffee with him and now she's doing the download with Suki.
19:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and so they're sitting at the counter.
19:36
[SPEAKER_00]: They're eating burgers, which we don't see Suki eat at Luke's time.
19:40
[SPEAKER_00]: We're very often, but she does like there.
19:42
[SPEAKER_00]: She does like it.
19:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I think she does respect what Luke does because Luke forgets the onions.
19:48
[SPEAKER_00]: He goes into the back room, that little side room, and so Suki goes behind the counter to get onions, but then she starts garnishing and adding things to the people who were already playing everybody's plays who are already eating at the counter, which is really fun.
20:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I know what she takes this salt shaker, just like dashes it onto someone just late.
20:07
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like garnish, lemon, a little salt.
20:10
[SPEAKER_00]: But I love that she gives Kayan to the He-Hawman.
20:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I love that that is his He-Hawman.
20:16
[SPEAKER_00]: He-Hawman.
20:16
[SPEAKER_02]: It's so dash of lemon and some Kayan.
20:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're going to plop.
20:22
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's so interesting to see her behind the counter because
20:26
[SPEAKER_00]: for a couple of reasons.
20:28
[SPEAKER_00]: One, she feels so out of place there because she and Laura like tend to have their honesty hours in the kitchen.
20:32
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like kind of natural, but not really because Laura like has her honesty hours with Luke as he's behind the counter.
20:39
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's also interesting and I didn't think of this until literally just now because Amy originally wanted the character of Luke to be Daisy.
20:46
[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of us know, yeah, a woman.
20:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And so to
20:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Really interesting because I was like, oh, I guess this might have been that dynamic a little bit.
20:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it's very short-lived because Luke of course comes out and he's like Sookie, what have I told you?
21:03
[SPEAKER_00]: So you can tell that this has been a thing both.
21:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she has come behind the counter.
21:07
[SPEAKER_00]: She's inserted himself into her
21:11
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, into his job into his livelihood.
21:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's funny because she's fine to do that, but then when it happens to her, she's like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
21:18
[SPEAKER_00]: She, she loses her mind.
21:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
21:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not just because of the hormones.
21:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's just like how she would have behaved no matter whether she was on the press and pregnant or not.
21:27
[SPEAKER_00]: but we'll get there.
21:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So I love it.
21:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Dude calls it his sacred space.
21:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is my sacred space.
21:34
[SPEAKER_00]: The counter is his sacred space.
21:35
[SPEAKER_00]: You do not come behind my counter ever.
21:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And then he tells Laura that she needs to be on a leash.
21:39
[SPEAKER_00]: But Suki is like, that's me.
21:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Good burger.
21:42
[SPEAKER_00]: He does make a damn fine burger, you know?
21:44
[SPEAKER_00]: So like she has respect for the things that he makes, despite the fact that it seems to me that Luke's cooking really comes from
21:53
[SPEAKER_00]: his upbringing, his mom, you know, leader in the episode, he makes meatloaf and suki comments on the fact that it's made with ketchup and he's like, oh, so you're going to make fun of my mother now too.
22:01
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that his cooking came from like just like a natural ability to maybe like you take care of their his family and cook for his family and then it just kind of became a thing because we don't really find out why
22:13
[SPEAKER_00]: he decided to take the hardware store and turn it into a diner.
22:16
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's not like he went to the culinary institute like no.
22:20
[SPEAKER_00]: He did.
22:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And it was like, oh, I found my calling.
22:22
[SPEAKER_00]: This is my passion.
22:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's do it.
22:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he does say in, I was a call that damned on a read when they're on the floor.
22:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
22:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And all that is happening.
22:32
[SPEAKER_02]: He thought it would be more fun.
22:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
22:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And he didn't want to, he didn't have the passion for the hardware store that his dad had.
22:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
22:39
[SPEAKER_02]: He wanted to work there.
22:41
[SPEAKER_02]: And so he thought it sounded more fun to open a diner.
22:44
[SPEAKER_02]: But he doesn't have any like, there's no background that offers us to why he can cook.
22:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't necessarily take it that like, the meat loafers, his mother's recipe.
22:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was like, oh, you're going to insult my meat loaf and I, you're going to insult my mother.
22:57
[SPEAKER_02]: But it could have been his mother's recipe.
22:59
[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know much about his mom other than that she passed.
23:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that was what else do you think she meant?
23:04
[SPEAKER_02]: He meant but that.
23:05
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like you're gonna insult like You know, you're just gonna insult my mom now, too.
23:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's I I took it more as like she's just gonna insult core things about him that he values You know, like people was like, oh, you're gonna insult my mother now, too.
23:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh Oh, I took it as like that's his mother's recipe
23:30
[SPEAKER_00]: It could be.
23:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but like I would like I would love to know more about Luke's mom and like that journey and like maybe she loved to cook but like the thing that I took from Liz is that like his Cooking style was developed through obsessive need to get things right and like figuring out why it's like for Luke
23:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and so it's like making a hundred lasagna, it's like figuring out what his gumbo recipe was and like going through that trial and error, it feels like, of course, he's like very self-taught, but like it feels like he put a lot of effort into learning and getting it right.
24:07
[SPEAKER_02]: So like, I felt like his schooling was kind of just like his own passion for it, whether or not that existed when in that damn Donnery, when he said,
24:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so it's like who who actually knows what what the background there is And an ordini also gives us some context because she had just like started the diner when They were dating so it's like seemingly like around like the early 90s like 92 93 that he would open the diner
24:43
[SPEAKER_02]: So we haven't been doing it like super long since, uh, from like the time the series starts.
24:48
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like seemingly eight issues.
24:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so yeah, I guess like from season five it would been like 1997 the first time that Laura Lai went into Luke's signer, which feels insane.
25:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
25:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, that she would have waited that long to go in, but maybe she couldn't afford it.
25:04
[SPEAKER_02]: So she never went in.
25:05
[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of like, yeah, assume.
25:08
[SPEAKER_02]: But you said that Suki went to the Culinary Institute.
25:11
[SPEAKER_02]: She never actually says that she did because she talks about the CIA.
25:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
25:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And so she was like, I know people there.
25:19
[SPEAKER_02]: But she never actually says where she learned to cook.
25:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
25:24
[SPEAKER_02]: What her history is.
25:25
[SPEAKER_02]: We get a little bit of history with Joe.
25:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Joe, the dear girl.
25:29
[SPEAKER_01]: She have gone.
25:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
25:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And so I saw him somewhere.
25:33
[SPEAKER_02]: One of famously, we meet Charlie Swan who's real name.
25:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm forgetting right now.
25:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Alex, who's real name, my name.
25:41
[SPEAKER_00]: No, he's real name.
25:42
[SPEAKER_00]: The actor, Billy Burke, Billy Burke.
25:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Billy Burke, thank you.
25:46
[SPEAKER_02]: When he's like, I know it.
25:50
[SPEAKER_02]: But so like we know that she like, there was a lot of history of her cooking elsewhere, and some crazy days.
25:58
[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, we never get like a strong history of her.
26:01
[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know what she was doing before she ended up in Star's Hollow So yeah, I think that their history of cooking is kind of vague, but it's very clear that she definitely Learned somewhere to cook.
26:15
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't seem self-taught based on like the techniques and things that she uses, but yeah, who knows?
26:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it sounds like she's been very professionally taught how to do this.
26:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I do think that that is sometimes especially later in the series as a series unfolds like why she and Luke kind of great against each other specifically and but I'm going more but we'll get there.
26:38
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get there.
26:39
[SPEAKER_00]: We will.
26:40
[SPEAKER_00]: But going back to Cinnamon's Wake, I do really like that.
26:44
[SPEAKER_00]: They're both asked to bring food for this Wake that they're having
26:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Possibly it's very like everyone just brought things the way that Laura like greets them I assumed that maybe she asked both of them to bring food but who's to say but they come in and they go to go in the door at the same time And I love that shot of them and then they come in and we're like that upward shot
27:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
27:10
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so interesting to watch Gilmore Girls this morning, season one, like early, early seasons, the camera shots and the lighting and everything I was like, wow, love it, so vintage.
27:23
[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, I love that when they come in in the world, I was like, okay, how should we do this?
27:27
[SPEAKER_00]: And Suki has, has it mapped out, she is like, okay, we're going to do this.
27:31
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do that, leaves one free, one hand free to greet the people and then this and then desserts and then the mouth dishes.
27:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yes, and then Luke just flops everything on the table goes digging and you can tell even by the ways like the mechanisms of bringing things in He's got paper bags.
27:48
[SPEAKER_00]: It's very diner.
27:49
[SPEAKER_00]: She's got the chafing dishes and you know, she is ready to set up something very like culinary Just call it a cool and really about the process
27:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she thinks about the aesthetic, the flow of the room, like the way that it's going to, like, how someone would want one hand free, totally, get their bad fridge, like she really is considering the entire experience.
28:10
[SPEAKER_02]: I think like the culinary experience is sometimes just beyond the food that, like, it's everything that, like, how it's painted, how everything is going to be.
28:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what is it?
28:19
[SPEAKER_02]: You're experiencing it.
28:21
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's really what she thinks about.
28:22
[SPEAKER_02]: And then when he's just like dig in, I would have felt the same sookie.
28:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, I had like this is gonna get backlocked.
28:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's just gonna be like, I don't think that Luke's method was necessarily the right one because I would just that stresses me out.
28:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Good no one knows what's in any of those boxes like come on exactly but I'm so I do I do love where it gets to because he's she's talking about you who's catch up in your meatloaf I don't think she's insulting him.
28:50
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that she's just asking him she's curious her face kind of Insignuates a little bit of like you a little bit
28:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
28:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I just catch by my meatloaf, personally.
29:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's nice.
29:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm at a meatloaf.
29:03
[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't remember if we use it.
29:05
[SPEAKER_02]: I make a nice, um, turkey meatloaf.
29:08
[SPEAKER_02]: For my family, I don't personally like it, but my family really likes it, so I make it a lot.
29:14
[SPEAKER_02]: But I like that Suki's like, hey, I have these things that would go good on that, and he's like,
29:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of against it, but then she she kind of recoils a bit.
29:23
[SPEAKER_02]: She like she like chastise and he's like put him on Yeah, oh, I could do it in this fun design.
29:28
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like two key Tossing them on tossing them on yeah, you He's trying to like use it for up and he's kind of like okay.
29:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll let you play
29:37
[SPEAKER_00]: the playground and the sandbox a little bit.
29:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it feels like a little bit of like a foreshadowing to their next situation that they end up in a quote unquote food fight of a tail and pose and fire, because I like that they start off a little bit rough, like a little bit of a rough patch between the two of them trying to figure out a work together and by the end of it.
29:58
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, oh, okay, we can do this, but then it escalates in season three a tail and pose and fire.
30:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love this moment between the two of them.
30:08
[SPEAKER_00]: So of course, in a tale of Poz and Fire, it's when the Poz society comes in to Star's Hollow and the independent saying catches on fire and they don't know what to do.
30:16
[SPEAKER_00]: So Laura, life course assumes that Luke will be fine with Suki just moving in with her entire staff.
30:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I love what she wants to do.
30:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't even ask, she bursts into the diner.
30:25
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, all right, phase two.
30:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, what the fuck is phase two?
30:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Can you imagine someone walked into your business and was like, phase two?
30:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like so.
30:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Where the, like, what?
30:36
[SPEAKER_02]: It's, I love these interaction.
30:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't too much.
30:39
[SPEAKER_02]: The way you two tell him about this.
30:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
30:41
[SPEAKER_02]: And like, if there was a fire, there was a fire at Westend.
30:44
[SPEAKER_02]: There was a fire at Westend.
30:45
[SPEAKER_00]: They'll have a fresh, fresh, fresh blueberries.
30:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, why not do, see, he's market,
30:49
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
30:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
30:50
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
30:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
30:51
[SPEAKER_00]: And then I love that she's like, just move all of Luke's stuff aside.
30:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't bet.
30:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't bet.
30:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have any plates that are cracked?
30:58
[SPEAKER_00]: You're the one that's cracked.
30:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Nice thing to say to a pregnant lady.
31:00
[SPEAKER_00]: You're pregnant.
31:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
31:02
[SPEAKER_00]: You're behind.
31:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Keep up.
31:05
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so cute.
31:05
[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, Laura likes as like, all right, just see the word and we're out.
31:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's going to do that.
31:09
[SPEAKER_00]: This point.
31:10
[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, you've already moved in.
31:12
[SPEAKER_00]: But I've already already, he's not going to do that to you.
31:15
[SPEAKER_00]: That's just not Luke's style.
31:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And so I will say when she announces, it's like, hey, every like, because they're saying that they can't have Luke's.
31:23
[SPEAKER_00]: They can't be serving two different.
31:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they can't do that.
31:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And so in L'Orealia announces that they're going to have blueberry lemon pancakes, waffles, and waffles.
31:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Belgium.
31:33
[SPEAKER_00]: The name is foster.
31:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
31:34
[SPEAKER_02]: bananas foster and everyone's like yeah that sounds great i think i'd be like actually i'd like exactly what i ordered from blue i'd like my omelette my loop special omelette please yeah as it turns out i was very specific with what i ordered and i don't want whatever whatever that is so it does come to mind i know this was not the intention but it does kind of insinuating like are you willing to cancel whatever loop had prepared for you for these elevated
32:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I actually ordered exactly what I wanted to ask.
32:08
[SPEAKER_02]: So he had pancakes too and I didn't want them.
32:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the thing is, is that...
32:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, you didn't give me any savory options.
32:17
[SPEAKER_00]: These are all sweet options.
32:19
[SPEAKER_02]: And my sauce browns need a potato, you know?
32:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I need a potato.
32:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I need a bacon piece and you know, it's just one with the G. Yeah, you know, I'll be in a moment.
32:31
[SPEAKER_02]: So I was, whenever this happens, I'm like, I'd raise my hand, be like, actually no.
32:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not okay but I need to leave.
32:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go to Alice Pancake one.
32:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'd like hopefully there's something back this.
32:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
32:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, but it's it's just so funny that Suki is like get rid of it dump it.
32:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see it.
32:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he acquiesces to it for lore lie, not for Suki, but I do love the by the end of the episode when they do get back into the diner and it's been maybe a day.
33:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I am happy with the next day.
33:02
[SPEAKER_00]: The next day.
33:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, all right, I guess that Luke and Suki have seemed to work things out and they are having the time of their lives.
33:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, like this podcast I want to exactly.
33:15
[SPEAKER_00]: They're doing Cajun Eggs Benedict.
33:18
[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to win the Nobel Together.
33:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Like they are having a silly silly time.
33:23
[SPEAKER_02]: They're having a silly time, but the way that the Cajun Ex Benedict came about is because he accidentally knocked the cayenne into her Holendase sauce, and it seems like a process of events, like a turn of events that would
33:40
[SPEAKER_02]: prevent them from being able to get along, but it would cause some friction, but they just ran with it, and they had their cage and eggs Benedict, and I was like, oh my gosh, you guys are laughing, and having a good time.
33:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, things that I thought you would find about totally 100%.
33:56
[SPEAKER_00]: So,
33:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I was surprised, but like I love it.
33:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I love that they have this little bonding moment if you will about all of the food that they do and then Suki she's gonna go to see the in they've been alerted by me shallow that they can go back and she gives him this like long list of instructions on what to do with everything Oh, yeah, don't let it burn us in the list Yeah, don't burn it.
34:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't burn got it
34:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's just classic Luke.
34:22
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, all right.
34:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And now we're back.
34:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Not that we're fighting.
34:24
[SPEAKER_00]: But now we're back now.
34:26
[SPEAKER_02]: But I also low key think that he got all of that down his little ordering brain new immediately didn't need to write anything down.
34:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's going to tend to everything the exact way that she asked for it.
34:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that's so Luke.
34:39
[SPEAKER_02]: So
34:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I think that like of the quote unquote food fight episodes that we have here that one might be my fav just because of like the way that they get to work together in that capacity and that like kind of come around like in cinnamon's wake it's like that that version light we're like they a little bit of friction by the end of it they're like plating their foods together but then in this one they start lots of friction there's a fire
35:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to see it.
35:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And by the end of it, they're creating new dishes together, which I think is fine.
35:12
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think those are kind of two similar episodes, but they'll post them fire, just escalate to it.
35:18
[SPEAKER_02]: And just, like, such a good up.
35:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Did we bring that episode on top 25?
35:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's so good though.
35:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I take that back.
35:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we did.
35:29
[SPEAKER_00]: You know who should know that?
35:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
35:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Literally, either one of the two of us, but our best friends are screaming at us on the other end.
35:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're like, it wasn't.
35:36
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it wasn't.
35:38
[SPEAKER_02]: But the thing is, is like, if we just stopped this episode right now and read it, our top 25 episode, it'd be so different.
35:45
[SPEAKER_04]: I won't remember.
35:47
[SPEAKER_02]: The only thing I do remember from it is that they shoot Gilmour's is number one and 25 was you jump.
35:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, wedding time number two.
35:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
35:57
[SPEAKER_00]: See, and the deeper that thing's giving us number three.
35:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, see you remember a lot more than I do.
36:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think partying system were six.
36:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
36:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I could go on about this all day.
36:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but this is a fantastic episode.
36:11
[SPEAKER_00]: A tail of Poz and Fire is a guess.
36:12
[SPEAKER_00]: We I think we did because we talked about the worries going to Yale.
36:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's so see it.
36:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it's so good.
36:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And then we do it in the sock.
36:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Plus all of it.
36:23
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a town event.
36:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I just great up a town meeting.
36:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's on a town meeting.
36:29
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not something just like the town has assembled.
36:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
36:34
[SPEAKER_01]: For the meetings of the
36:46
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, oh, that would have been fun.
36:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Something that I want to point out that's not on the list, but I think, and it's not even necessarily a food fight's moment between Luke and Suki, but something that I think, I don't want to say could have been, but is kind of a representation of Suki's culinary instincts, not always aligning with localized wants and needs.
37:08
[SPEAKER_00]: If we're kind of centering that a little bit in this episode is in
37:12
[SPEAKER_00]: the hob at the sofa and digger silos.
37:15
[SPEAKER_00]: She has no idea how to take her skill set and apply it to something like a kid's birthday party.
37:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas I feel like Luke would be really great at that.
37:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Burgers, boys, mozzarella sticks, like things that are very like...
37:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
37:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like you get that out of the day.
37:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like he would.
37:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that.
37:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
37:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Mac Cheese, you know, and so.
37:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
37:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I was just thinking about that when we were talking about Cinnamon's Wake.
37:45
[SPEAKER_00]: That like, you know, Luke's style of like, dig in and suit you with the chafing dishes.
37:51
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, yeah, maybe that's good for something like a cat's funeral.
37:54
[SPEAKER_00]: But for a kid's birthday party.
37:58
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't think really elegant, something really, you know, that the buyers that level.
38:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was just thinking about that because I know that Luke was not centered at all in that episode.
38:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
38:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but I think that he could have been, I'm glad he wasn't.
38:15
[SPEAKER_00]: It was about Suki and it was about Lourlay and it was about Suki freaking out about becoming a parent.
38:28
[SPEAKER_00]: something like a kid's birthday party, and that just goes to show that like Suki's, like I said, her culinary instincts are always the best choice for which depending on the circumstances.
38:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I, okay, we talked about this and revisited.
38:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I always think that Suki would actually like slay a kid's birthday party.
38:51
[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
38:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
38:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Like she would have cake pop, she'd have mac and cheese balls.
38:56
[SPEAKER_02]: She'd have kids eating vegetables and wouldn't even know that they were vegetables.
39:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
39:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Like she would make them taste like Tater tots.
39:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Like yeah.
39:03
[SPEAKER_02]: She would, she would slay a kid's birthday party.
39:05
[SPEAKER_02]: I like the idea that she didn't.
39:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Tater top like come on, please like some is number one food group like you know what I mean I just feel like she would have done so well like she would have made such a good vanilla cake with their face on it You know like she would have known she would have done really well at a themed birthday party So like I understand the instinct of like we quite have done it better But suit you would have just like everything would have been in the shape of up, you know Lord of the Rings character For sure, no, I think no
39:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I love it that they really did it for the plot in that they did it for the plot and I I do like when Suki's pregnant that she gets a little bit What is the word that I'm looking for?
39:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Tense I feel like is right like holding on my mail or she has at same tense Feeling about her kitchen and feeling very What is the word I'm looking for territory really she's very she's not real for sure and I think that that's no matter
40:06
[SPEAKER_00]: What?
40:06
[SPEAKER_00]: That's very cool.
40:07
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot escalated.
40:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but a lot of the episodes that we get Luke and Suki like pitted up against each other are when she's pregnant because you're so pregnant.
40:18
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
40:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I had a thought last night and then I forgot what it was and I remembered having the thought but couldn't remember what the thought was and he just reminded me of it because because the Hobbit, the sofa and digger styles, not Jason, the Hobbit, the couch and Jason, if you will, that one is like a definitely a suky focused and I was trying to remember what episode it was but it's in the in the Lorelai's graduation day when suky becomes the breakfast breakfast spot
40:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And so like that one is like interesting too because like I was trying to remember I was like when do they have like a trade-off when does she know you're talking about how wanted Is that how how yeah, do you realize graduation debt?
41:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm sorry.
41:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I was getting it confused with voice graduation day
41:05
[SPEAKER_02]: You're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right
41:27
[SPEAKER_02]: like the hungry diner, and that's how we discover that, and there are teeny tiny little coffee cups, but just kind of like going outside of Luke's having to find alternative breakfast, which sometimes they have breakfast at home, but I guess they didn't want to.
41:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Guess it's like a sad when you can't go to your normal breakfast spot.
41:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I know Poptart instead.
41:47
[SPEAKER_02]: See for Suki to make you breakfast.
41:49
[SPEAKER_02]: which she's so happy to.
41:51
[SPEAKER_02]: She loves it.
41:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Suki's, if you will.
41:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Suki's diner, Suki's kitchen.
41:56
[SPEAKER_02]: But that just reminded me of that, because I was trying to remember what episode that they like had a crossover, but they weren't together, and it was that one, where she was their looks for the morning.
42:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, speaking of having a crossover, but not really together, and this doesn't necessarily, I don't think this is necessarily intentional within the narrative or by the writers per se, but in Norman Miller and pregnant, they find out that the dragonfly is going to cancel lunch temporarily because they are losing money on lunch and when somebody doesn't shit and yeah, and hates me.
42:31
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't.
42:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't I guess she's like their financial advisor.
42:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but it just like and hates me.
42:38
[SPEAKER_02]: I know I don't I don't hate her.
42:40
[SPEAKER_02]: That's like what are like grabs me I remind of me of in the revival when Michelle was interviewing people what was her name your name is?
42:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Enter here.
42:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
42:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
42:51
[SPEAKER_02]: I've got about that.
42:55
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what it felt like hilarious.
42:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, but they have to cancel lunch because no one's coming to lunch and they're a new business trying to save on money and having a full kitchen staff for no one coming to lunch It's just not tough.
43:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she's furious though because you're taking away her thing Why can't they take away something for me?
43:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Shall you say what my desk?
43:20
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's funny because Suki is in denial about it.
43:23
[SPEAKER_00]: She's furious, but she won't accept it.
43:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And so Laura, like it's a call in the middle of the day from Luke, she doesn't know what's going on.
43:31
[SPEAKER_00]: And she arrives to Luke's diner to see Kirk dressed as a hot dog outside the tag center.
43:37
[SPEAKER_00]: The tag center, the tag center, a giant winner.
43:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Passing out flyers to get lunch at Dragonfly and Luke is incensed because obviously he serves lunch.
43:48
[SPEAKER_00]: So Kirk do that, too.
43:49
[SPEAKER_00]: That's why he went.
43:50
[SPEAKER_00]: That's why he said, where did everyone get lunch?
43:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Luke's Luke's Luke's.
43:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing is, is that like, he has good instincts, because that is true.
43:58
[SPEAKER_00]: So true.
43:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Tell him to do that.
44:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Sookie told him to pass out flyers.
44:02
[SPEAKER_00]: She didn't tell him to dress up like a giant hot dog.
44:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think she told him to go to Luke's, but none the last.
44:07
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't deny that.
44:09
[SPEAKER_00]: She said, I didn't tell him to dress up like a hot dog.
44:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
44:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And so what did you expect?
44:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Hello.
44:16
[SPEAKER_00]: So that is kind of a food fight.
44:20
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like food fight light.
44:21
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's like Luke's place where people go for lunch.
44:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Suki is jealous of that.
44:26
[SPEAKER_00]: She wants to have as much business as she can back to the dragonfly.
44:29
[SPEAKER_00]: But the reality is she's just really emotional and really upset and yells at Norma Miller because she's pregnant.
44:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And
44:38
[SPEAKER_00]: As the title says, love that.
44:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I love that that kind of is like the through line that Suki gets insensed about food and territorial and she and Luke have some sort of spa whether they're together or they're not when Suki is pregnant.
44:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I feel like Suki gets the final word on that because, well, she does yell at Norman Maylar for being in her dining room, just drinking iced tea.
45:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Realize that she's pregnant comes back up and tells them, and he says, congratulations, what a nice- I was laughing.
45:06
[SPEAKER_00]: So hard.
45:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Norman Maylar was doing such a great job.
45:09
[SPEAKER_00]: I was laughing.
45:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I was late that.
45:11
[SPEAKER_02]: So grads Norman.
45:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
45:14
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just she's just missing their dinner in Norman.
45:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right, Mr. Maylar.
45:18
[SPEAKER_00]: All of the clothes up front on him just kind of looking around.
45:23
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a method actor that one, but what I find so funny and why I say that I feel like Suki gets the final word is because Luke's annoyed at the end talking the lower line just again, I'm sorry about that and he was like, no, it's two guys over here just sitting ordering nothing but iced tea and Normaela has found a new place to sit and drink his iced tea So Suki got her revenge in the end
45:44
[SPEAKER_02]: She got her revenge in the end, so I felt like that was a, it was kind of a disconnected food fight between the two of them, almost one that other people were having for them.
45:55
[SPEAKER_02]: But they, but two of that hers in the end, it's true.
46:00
[SPEAKER_02]: She got, she got what she, what she, what she needed, it's true.
46:04
[SPEAKER_02]: But I do want that iced tea.
46:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Two of these iced tea sounds really good.
46:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Which we'll get to in a minute.
46:08
[SPEAKER_02]: We have some dessert that's.
46:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I, this brings me to my favorite food fight between the two of them.
46:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I, I will say this one is also my favorite.
46:20
[SPEAKER_02]: The, I tell a person fire it was my favorite like collab.
46:23
[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, this one is a true food fight.
46:27
[SPEAKER_02]: No food was thrown.
46:28
[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like it could have been.
46:30
[SPEAKER_02]: It could have been.
46:31
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like if we were going to throw food, it was going to be in this one.
46:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say it was a throne, but it was definitely taken off the premises.
46:38
[SPEAKER_02]: It was, and then on the premise of this, I just remember us recapping this.
46:43
[SPEAKER_02]: This one was like one of our longest recaps from Gilmorey visited.
46:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know if we said the name of it, but I'm a Gilmore, we loved it.
46:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, because of the title,
46:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I never thought that I would really enjoy this episode because the title comes from Rory going to the Hunsburgers.
47:01
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't think she's good enough to be a part of the family.
47:04
[SPEAKER_00]: She's a major Gilmore.
47:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I always think of that A plot.
47:10
[SPEAKER_00]: This plot is so delicious.
47:13
[SPEAKER_00]: No pun intended.
47:14
[SPEAKER_00]: It is so good.
47:16
[SPEAKER_00]: It is so good.
47:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
47:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I love this storyline between it's Luke and Soutine.
47:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that this is kind of where I was like we need to do an episode about these two.
47:25
[SPEAKER_02]: 100%.
47:27
[SPEAKER_02]: It was totally from this episode that I think that it was born because we were covering this one last year.
47:31
[SPEAKER_00]: But I was like we need to do a food fight episode because this is incredible.
47:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and so this plot, like of course the main, like thought from this episode is the Rory and Logan, getting together, going to his parents.
47:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of Anne Hatesme, Rory could say, sure Hatesme and she'd say, for sure I do.
47:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, definitely.
47:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Very different set up.
47:54
[SPEAKER_02]: But on the other end, in Star's Hollow, Suki has been put on bed breast by her doctor.
47:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And so she cannot come in to cook dinner.
48:02
[SPEAKER_02]: And so, Laura Lai starts kind of freaking out because Michelle takes her into the kitchen, and she's like, okay, what does everyone do?
48:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, who touches the ducks?
48:10
[SPEAKER_02]: No one touches.
48:12
[SPEAKER_01]: No one touches.
48:13
[SPEAKER_02]: And who does the sauce?
48:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Suki.
48:15
[SPEAKER_02]: And so, they find out that without Suki, all they have is salads and desserts.
48:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, she says something along the lines of like, we can't have a restaurant with that.
48:26
[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite thing is Michelle just being so unhelpful.
48:29
[SPEAKER_02]: He said, I would not go to eat.
48:31
[SPEAKER_00]: He's so unhelpful, and she's like, he's like, I don't.
48:37
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, great.
48:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much.
48:39
[SPEAKER_02]: But I just love when he's pointing out who everyone is and what everyone does.
48:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And he goes, I don't know what that guy does.
48:44
[SPEAKER_02]: But I would check his trunk before he leaves.
48:47
[SPEAKER_02]: And then we're not seeking.
48:49
[SPEAKER_02]: He wouldn't realize introducing Luke because she calls him.
48:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's how he gets involved in this.
48:55
[SPEAKER_02]: As she said, how pretty do you think I am?
48:57
[SPEAKER_02]: he asks is there a certain day that we're thinking about did you get a sleep that I before yeah exactly and she says no one will touch the ducts and me shall want to order or hopey and I'm hyperventilating and I'm not wearing a very shorty fabric so he comes over she introduces them to all the kitchen people and she's a truck she calls him check his trunk before he leaves guy yeah it's really good really all it's guys are guy tongs guy check his trunk before he leaves guy it's
49:26
[SPEAKER_00]: So, good.
49:28
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so unremitted.
49:30
[SPEAKER_02]: It's so, did we bring this one?
49:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, no, no, no.
49:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Someone needs to check.
49:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Someone needs to do a fast check for us.
49:36
[SPEAKER_00]: No, we don't have somebody to steer.
49:37
[SPEAKER_02]: It could be us, but when it comes to the Luke of this, we actually referenced this moment a lot that we wished later on in the revival that this could have been true because Luke is just like furious at this whole situation, which we will get into, of course.
49:53
[SPEAKER_02]: But he's doing it because he loves Laurel I.
49:56
[SPEAKER_02]: And so when he hears that she's in distress, he has a whole diner, which famously no.
50:01
[SPEAKER_02]: It's called Luke Steiner.
50:02
[SPEAKER_02]: He has a whole business.
50:04
[SPEAKER_02]: But does he stop everything he's doing to come cook ducks for Laurel I?
50:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Of course he does.
50:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Because she's not wearing a stretchy fabric.
50:11
[SPEAKER_02]: And like what's an emergency if not hyperventilating and Michelle wanting to order a hogey?
50:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
50:19
[SPEAKER_00]: It's true.
50:19
[SPEAKER_00]: And so he comes over, Suki has a whole like menu notes packet for him, and he's like, great.
50:27
[SPEAKER_00]: This all looks good.
50:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And as he's doing his thing, he seems to be doing great.
50:33
[SPEAKER_00]: He gets familiar with the staff.
50:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Suki calls the kitchen and Mani answers the phone.
50:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Hands it over to Luke.
50:41
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, just wanted to check in and she says, hi, what'd you do in?
50:46
[SPEAKER_02]: And he says, cooking.
50:47
[SPEAKER_00]: It was great.
50:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Great answer.
50:48
[SPEAKER_00]: That's good.
50:49
[SPEAKER_00]: That's good.
50:50
[SPEAKER_00]: That's good.
50:50
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the test.
50:52
[SPEAKER_00]: But she asks if he's straining the duck sauce twice.
50:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Twice.
50:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Twice says no.
50:57
[SPEAKER_00]: She goes, okay, you really should be straining it twice.
50:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, okay, fine, I'll strain it twice.
51:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Three times if it'll make you happy.
51:02
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, no, don't strain it three times.
51:04
[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to get money.
51:07
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, okay, all right, sounds good.
51:09
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll see you later, talk to you later.
51:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Have a good day, have a good rest, hangs up the phone.
51:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Next, we see him truly in his element, like he's cooking.
51:18
[SPEAKER_00]: He's really getting along with the staff, everybody's doing great.
51:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, gets another call from Suki.
51:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you put Walnut's in your best female?
51:25
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, what?
51:26
[SPEAKER_00]: You put walnuts in the best fashion.
51:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's such a specific way that she says it.
51:33
[SPEAKER_02]: That's like walnuts in the best smell.
51:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Like she like, like he's an idiot.
51:38
[SPEAKER_02]: It's filling it out for him.
51:40
[SPEAKER_00]: But she's the best part of the taste of walnuts.
51:41
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, what are you talking about?
51:43
[SPEAKER_00]: You thought that you tasted walnuts.
51:45
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, if you want to get fancy, you can do that at your own time.
51:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Or he's like, you know what people bring you food?
51:48
[SPEAKER_00]: She goes, okay, now you've lost it.
51:50
[SPEAKER_00]: You're going crazy.
51:50
[SPEAKER_00]: And then Pedro walks in with this.
51:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And then we'll talk about container, a little, a little, a little tougher wear, which did you know that people think that it's Tuber wear, some people in the past, if thought it's with bees, you've seen videos of this?
52:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it the man that wears Tuber wear?
52:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Go say it again, Tuber wear, slower, smell it, I forget those guys names, but they always come up on my wheels, they're so funny.
52:18
[SPEAKER_02]: hilarious so much of this is taking place over the phone because there's like really no other way for them to like communicate Yes, Suki's not here yet But poor Pedro and his Tupperware
52:34
[SPEAKER_02]: But I just love that like this moment when he gets so incensed and like two keys on the phone listening to this He speaks in English and it's banished to the staff But this is like some of my favorite Scott Patterson work because it's when his Brooklyn slips through
52:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like New York accent kind of slides right in when he gets a little irritated.
52:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and you're like, you've never been stars hollow your whole life My dude.
52:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Where's that Brooklyn coming from?
53:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
53:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
53:03
[SPEAKER_00]: So he says no food will leave the premises and he tells them the same exact thing in Spanish and says you can run day.
53:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you can run day on the phone to see it?
53:13
[SPEAKER_00]: That's my kitchen looking he's like, yeah, and it'll be waiting for you when you come back But until then I am doing this and you need to rest
53:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
53:23
[SPEAKER_00]: So Laura like comes in in the next scene where they're at the dragonfly says that he got a comment card saying it's the best meal that they've ever had and asks if the shuffle marry them.
53:34
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, I don't know what do they look like.
53:36
[SPEAKER_00]: But he's a slam shop.
53:37
[SPEAKER_00]: The last minute edition.
53:39
[SPEAKER_00]: So this was not on the menu.
53:40
[SPEAKER_00]: He is making his slam chops.
53:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And he was like he was like he was getting going like he hasn't he was just like burning with this desire to just like continue He've got really passionate.
53:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean having so much fun.
53:54
[SPEAKER_00]: He loves Mani so much He's like I would take Mani overseas or in a minute.
53:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like oh The cutest thing about this moment.
54:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I hope Caesar hasn't seen this episode like Like security footage of this is a weird cutest thing is like I love Mani
54:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I wish we got more, manny, because this darling actor, I don't know his name, but when he said he'd kick, he's around on his ass for manny, manny, he hears his name, he looks up, and it's like, he has this look on his face, it's like, oh, shucks, and you're just like, manny.
54:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And knowing that Mani is going to be the one that takes over for Suki, while she's on maternity.
54:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because the whole, the other thing that's going on here is that Suki never accepted really any applications to.
54:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because no one was good enough, she felt like she had three more weeks to find someone and Laura like ends up suggesting Mani and all as well.
54:49
[SPEAKER_00]: But that is not before we get possibly one of the best scenes between these two.
54:53
[SPEAKER_00]: That is ever.
54:53
[SPEAKER_02]: This is a famous famously on Gilmouray visited the adored, this portion of this episode, the the back of fourth between
55:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Because as all of this is going on, yes, Luke notices that Pedro is taking a ladle out of the kitchen, because where's Peter going with that ladle?
55:23
[SPEAKER_00]: And he follows him upstairs.
55:24
[SPEAKER_00]: As if Pedro doesn't know Luke is right behind him, he knows.
55:28
[SPEAKER_00]: He knows, but he has to record.
55:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Miles and his face.
55:32
[SPEAKER_00]: and low and behold, they're a suki with so much food on her bed with her.
55:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, I don't believe this.
55:40
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, what?
55:41
[SPEAKER_00]: You said that the food couldn't leave the promises.
55:43
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not leaving the promises.
55:45
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, yeah, or you've lost it.
55:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And Pedro has no idea where to give this ladle and they're going back and forth back and forth.
55:51
[SPEAKER_00]: You're scaring Pedro.
55:53
[SPEAKER_00]: You're scaring Pedro.
55:54
[SPEAKER_02]: You are scaring Pedro.
55:56
[SPEAKER_02]: That's like one of our like top 25 favorite lines in the show.
56:01
[SPEAKER_02]: It's the finger point.
56:03
[SPEAKER_02]: You're scaring Pedro.
56:05
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so...
56:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Good.
56:08
[SPEAKER_00]: And so he basically is like, you cannot do this.
56:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, no one is going to come up here and give you any more of this food and then he leaves and he goes it comes back and grabs the ladle out of Pedro's hand right before he's got to taste it.
56:19
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so he just caught in the middle.
56:23
[SPEAKER_00]: But then speaking of someone who's in the middle, we get Jackson coming in to absolutely
56:28
[SPEAKER_00]: just lay into Luke, even though he's terrified of Luke.
56:31
[SPEAKER_00]: And do you think that this is part of the reason why the two of them have friction is because Luke and Sukey are kind of the food providers in the town?
56:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I would say like they're the food providers in town.
56:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, outside of the owls and the peats and the westerns, but like for the most part, I'd say that these two are at the top of the list for people who are like the chefs in town.
56:57
[SPEAKER_02]: And mostly because they're like main characters on the show that we're watching you know I'm I'm inclined to say yes, but I actually think no because I don't think that Jackson's client Say I actually it's a no
57:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if anyone ever proposes to me, that's the answer, but you heard it here first, folks.
57:21
[SPEAKER_02]: But it's a no, um, no, but I just don't feel like Jackson's that deep.
57:26
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't think he's holding grudges, necessarily.
57:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think that like it reminds me of Davey's a fresh baby.
57:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I forget when this happens, but he like, when Jackson like stands up and he's like, hey,
57:37
[SPEAKER_02]: and he kind of loses steam in the diner.
57:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember that?
57:41
[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of how I feel of like he gets in Jackson, rather gets in Luke's face.
57:47
[SPEAKER_02]: And as they drive off in the stolen cart from the end, he was like, we're not talking a Luke.
57:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
57:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that he gets over it quite quickly.
57:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't think that he holds that.
58:00
[SPEAKER_02]: And the reason I say that is because I don't think he's written to hold the grudge.
58:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
58:04
[SPEAKER_02]: When we get later on, um, when, uh, Laura Lye and Luca are having the little spat when suki and Jackson come over for dinner.
58:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And he was like, was it the rub and suki like, yep.
58:16
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what it was.
58:17
[SPEAKER_02]: That's why everyone's upset.
58:20
[SPEAKER_02]: that I don't think that he is like holding on to that, or when they go to dinner at Tsuki and Jackson's like turn that TV off, Davey.
58:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that he's holding on to that within the narrative.
58:32
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that if they were like real people or we're sinking into this world, I think Jackson would hold a little grudge thinking that Tsuki was better.
58:42
[SPEAKER_02]: But when he gets it, especially when he gets in the space about it.
58:44
[SPEAKER_02]: But
58:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's why I'm in Colline to say yes because I think in their world.
58:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but the answer is no because I'm right like that.
58:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure That's fair and that that's a touch-grass moment for all of us.
58:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like is it written like that touch-grass?
58:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thank you
59:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but as you mentioned, they are driving home in the golf cart in Jackson's like, we're not talking to Laura like we're not talking to Luke.
59:08
[SPEAKER_00]: And so he's like, I'm talking to Laura like, hi.
59:11
[SPEAKER_00]: And Laura like ends up jumping in the cart with them.
59:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, I need you to tell me what Luke puts in his lamb chops.
59:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's no home to study.
59:19
[SPEAKER_00]: She took them home to study because it's driving her crazy.
59:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's interesting because Laura like kind of switches her frustration by telling her like, listen, Luke, like, he's okay at this, like, you are a master at this.
59:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And Suki is going to be like, um, he's pretty good at what he does.
59:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he's like, I can't see him because he's home to study here.
59:40
[SPEAKER_02]: It comes about because she kind of forces her to admit there were never any applications and yeah, and she thought she had more time And she was like you have to pick someone.
59:49
[SPEAKER_02]: No one is as good as you like not even Luke, and she's like Luke's not bad Yeah, actually find out what was in these lamb chops, which I love later on when they're on the couch together him and Laura I she's like, what do you put in your lamb tracks and then he's like forget it I love that moment
1:00:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but yeah, she's she's like, no, he's not that bad because she loves it.
1:00:10
[SPEAKER_02]: I think she would agree with that person.
1:00:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe she left the comment garden about maybe Meal of her life could be very now because he wasn't he wasn't double straining the ducks also.
1:00:19
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's true.
1:00:20
[SPEAKER_00]: She was she was insensed, but it's because she gets territorial and yeah, especially her kitchen Absolutely, she does everything except for sounds and shirts.
1:00:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I get it.
1:00:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
1:00:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I really do, but at the same time like you got to let people just
1:00:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I got to let people help you and you don't let really bad at that.
1:00:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well the other thing that looped it is he put goat cheese in the final salad.
1:00:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, you did.
1:00:45
[SPEAKER_02]: You put goat cheese and cheese in the salad salad.
1:00:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Just love the way that Melissa, like really emphasizes those.
1:00:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure.
1:00:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Fantastic.
1:00:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
1:00:55
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that when we get to the point when they're like, what about manny, you keep it in the family, he knows all your secrets and just like, yeah, good with manny.
1:01:03
[SPEAKER_02]: I want more manny.
1:01:04
[SPEAKER_00]: More manny.
1:01:05
[SPEAKER_00]: more than any hammer time.
1:01:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, mucho manny.
1:01:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, please.
1:01:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I just want that.
1:01:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I know me too.
1:01:12
[SPEAKER_02]: I want that for us because he just was such a cutie.
1:01:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree.
1:01:17
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's probably my favorite episode because it is a B plot with them all of this and it's really focused on it's funny It's so well written.
1:01:25
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just absolutely absurd that she goes from having people bring food to her at our house All the way to like someone snuck her in and how they got her this soon.
1:01:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like how they did it without Laura I noticed saying she didn't know any of this was going on.
1:01:40
[SPEAKER_00]: She was like, yeah, she got it.
1:01:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know So Jackson's here.
1:01:44
[UNKNOWN]: What's going on?
1:01:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's just it's very very funny and so good if you guys haven't seen that episode in a while I highly recommend it because it's tough so we've got And like I would never recommend this, but if you're like feeling if you're feeling on the ups and you don't want to be on the downs Maybe skip through the Hunter burger dinner maybe do a little bit The yeah that dinner is not going as well as the one at the dragonfly, but I just true
1:02:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I just love that one.
1:02:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a really interesting episode set up too, because the A plot really is worry, but like the B plot of Lorelie is really Luke and Suki.
1:02:22
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a little bit of like a Lorelie worry crossover when Rory tells her she's getting back together with Logan or she's getting together with Logan and she's like shoves her face in a pillow.
1:02:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because she's told not to say anything.
1:02:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but really it's it's Suki and Luke it's really her storyline.
1:02:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she's kind of in and out of it a little bit, but it's true.
1:02:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
1:02:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
1:02:44
[SPEAKER_02]: They kind of take over her her storyline her spot in the in the episode.
1:02:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's such a good one.
1:02:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Go watch it today right now.
1:02:52
[SPEAKER_00]: The last episode that I want to talk about, which isn't really necessarily a food fight, it's very different from the other episodes we've talked about because, yeah, no one's fighting in this episode, at least Sukey and Luke are not fighting in this episode.
1:03:04
[SPEAKER_00]: There are a lot of people fighting.
1:03:07
[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually building fights.
1:03:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like sitting in the foundation for fights.
1:03:13
[SPEAKER_00]: No one's not in anyone else yet.
1:03:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they should be, though.
1:03:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, by the end of it, absolutely, because of what happens with Heppelian.
1:03:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Heppelian breaks up in this episode.
1:03:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is he's flipping him right there.
1:03:23
[SPEAKER_00]: This is right after the prodigal daughter returns, Rory is home.
1:03:27
[SPEAKER_00]: She's reacting to the town to lower life's life.
1:03:30
[SPEAKER_00]: She Laura likes keeps doing the drum roll, tongue thing, which is like, bruh, yeah.
1:03:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, what was that?
1:03:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, reintroducing Rory to Luke Signar to the Dragonfly Inn.
1:03:42
[SPEAKER_00]: But with that comes,
1:03:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Luke and Suki, both separately, showering Rory with her favorite foods.
1:03:51
[SPEAKER_00]: So Luke says to her, I'm gonna bring you everything you like.
1:03:55
[SPEAKER_00]: I know what you like.
1:03:56
[SPEAKER_00]: And when he drops it off and when he drops their food off, he says, first wave only, second wave in five minutes.
1:04:02
[SPEAKER_00]: So he's bringing her all of her favorite things from the diet.
1:04:05
[SPEAKER_02]: And then later at the end, when she has her different like, tough minute and tremendous.
1:04:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was thinking about it today.
1:04:12
[SPEAKER_00]: That's so funny that you said that.
1:04:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, then they go to the Dragonfly Inn and Suki flips out over Worry being back and she's like, okay, like drows me down.
1:04:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, very weird.
1:04:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but she's basically like drop everything we're making lunch and the next shot.
1:04:31
[SPEAKER_00]: of Rory and Lorelei is them at this table that's just this absolute feast of foods that they love.
1:04:36
[SPEAKER_00]: That specifically, Rory loves.
1:04:38
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's less about it being a food right.
1:04:41
[SPEAKER_00]: It's more about juxtaposing the two people who whose love language is cooking and food and sharing the Gilmore girls with that food that they love.
1:04:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:04:50
[SPEAKER_00]: and putting them back to back.
1:04:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And then by the end of the episode, when it is Thanksgiving, this is the second Thanksgiving episode.
1:04:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Last notable, obviously a deep red Korean Thanksgiving is the most notable, but Suki cooks Thanksgiving dinner at the Dragonfly, and she needs help carving the turkey.
1:05:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Luke comes in.
1:05:08
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't eat help, but they say that Luke likes carving.
1:05:13
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, yeah, I bring him in and then she's like, yeah, all right.
1:05:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, she said I could use some help carving maybe send Luke in and so she welcomes it But then she's like tooth and tooth and tooth.
1:05:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, too thick too thick too thick crooked crooked.
1:05:26
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like all right.
1:05:27
[SPEAKER_02]: He'll take the knife Yeah, that's like one of my favorite things when she goes good idea
1:05:32
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just like your cooking, like, hey, you need to be fair.
1:05:36
[SPEAKER_00]: He was crooked when I was watching those.
1:05:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, method acting.
1:05:40
[SPEAKER_00]: He was really, really funny.
1:05:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the last one I had on here that feels like it's the most prominent of the quote unquote food fight episodes between Luke and Sugi.
1:05:50
[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't super qualify, but there is some criticism.
1:05:54
[SPEAKER_00]: There is some juxtaposition of their food.
1:05:56
[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought it was worth mentioning that.
1:05:58
[SPEAKER_02]: that like rivalry as we had called it early on the episode kind of comes back just a little bit of like their warring culinary techniques.
1:06:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I also like this episode because Lou kind of has like no real interest in preparing Thanksgiving dinner.
1:06:14
[SPEAKER_02]: He's not going to be it's not going to be a deep fried Korean Thanksgiving style because Liz is coming in.
1:06:22
[SPEAKER_02]: She's going to make Thanksgiving for
1:06:24
[SPEAKER_02]: to make like a Martha Stewart Thanksgiving.
1:06:26
[SPEAKER_02]: She loves Martha Stewart.
1:06:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Like she thinks she's everything.
1:06:30
[SPEAKER_02]: And she even asks like if the little pin in the turkey if they're born with that or it's put in afterwards.
1:06:38
[SPEAKER_02]: And listen, well, but Martha would know.
1:06:40
[SPEAKER_02]: but she burns everything, it explodes, all the roles explode, and so they end up taking them in at the end, and Suki has like an extra 12 people from the Renaissance fair there, and she just takes it in shite, and she just takes in Luke's family, so I feel like that's like an element of it, of like kind of like a full circle of like bringing him his family to the end and to you.
1:07:04
[SPEAKER_02]: What she has made because she's made too much obviously if there's enough for 12 people to continue to eat She's made quite a bit that one totally.
1:07:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so I like that.
1:07:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I like that.
1:07:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I like that Luke kind of had no plans.
1:07:15
[SPEAKER_02]: His plans were like probably Should just do whatever Laura I was doing Versus deep-fried Korean Thanksgiving where it was more broken up throughout the day.
1:07:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm totally
1:07:27
[SPEAKER_00]: So those are all the kind of quote unquote food fight episodes, the Luke versus Suki, which I love.
1:07:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I just love any moment where they kind of are either pitted up against each other or come together to bring about this beautiful culinary masterpiece, melding of the mines.
1:07:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I love it, melding of the pots, melding of the pot.
1:07:50
[SPEAKER_00]: It's true.
1:07:51
[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm gonna go more as my favorite.
1:07:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Barnon, but I might go more.
1:07:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It is my favorite.
1:07:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I also love a deep fried Korean things giving which we didn't talk about much, but they're not worrying.
1:08:00
[SPEAKER_02]: They're just not having very different experiences because to love a Gilmour Girl is to feed a Gilmour Girl to feed a Gilmour Girl is to love a Gilmour Girl.
1:08:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and I feel like that episode really showcases that, but I'm going to go more less so, but it's still my favorite of like the luki, the luki, the luki, the luki boring of the spatula, as if you will.
1:08:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's so true.
1:08:23
[SPEAKER_00]: But now that we've kind of talked about all of the episodes to kind of bring the food fights of at all home, we'd love to put suky and Luke's dishes up against each other because they have some really, really famous iconic dishes throughout the entire series and we asked our besties you posted on Instagram to see kind of like this or that what people prefer.
1:08:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know the answers.
1:08:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited to hear.
1:08:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this is like the true fight of it all.
1:08:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like ding ding up against each other.
1:08:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:08:51
[SPEAKER_02]: And I try to put similar dishes up against each other.
1:08:54
[SPEAKER_02]: So we're not like putting like the Sandberger against like squash blossoms.
1:09:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's just like that that wouldn't really make sense.
1:09:03
[SPEAKER_02]: So I tried to give some sort of like category to it.
1:09:05
[SPEAKER_02]: And something you're like.
1:09:06
[SPEAKER_02]: It's almost like you're on a menu and you're picking between these two things.
1:09:09
[SPEAKER_02]: You have your your courses of These are all your courses and you can have half minutes to eat them.
1:09:15
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a tasting menu.
1:09:16
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a tasting menu of you.
1:09:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, okay, and so this is like the true fight of it all Nothing will be thrown especially because if I did throw it I'd just be throwing it at my computer because Tara is such a Friend's statement.
1:09:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, famously.
1:09:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't wear too well
1:09:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I'm not sure how many of them I did, but I will start with the first one and I did a novelty because this one felt like both of them having very iconic, but like kind of off the wall sort of items and for Suki it was the bit of basket pretzel basket and for Luke it was the Santa burger, which one of them would you pick?
1:09:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the pretzel basket.
1:09:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Barnon.
1:09:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I love the Santa burger.
1:09:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
1:09:55
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I like the sentiment.
1:09:59
[SPEAKER_00]: the symbolism of the Santa Burger for sure.
1:10:02
[SPEAKER_00]: The pretzel basket sounds absolutely divine.
1:10:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, the fact that it's an edible basket for somebody to love a pretzel.
1:10:10
[SPEAKER_00]: So the fact that the basket is one of us at a soft pretzel, please.
1:10:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Or sourdough pretzel.
1:10:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, I love a pretzel.
1:10:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Seriously.
1:10:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I cut your Sarah.
1:10:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Tara, do you know what you're talking to Sarah?
1:10:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know who Sarah does with?
1:10:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I actually know so many facts about Tara's personal life through specifically like your numbers and identifications and things like that.
1:10:35
[SPEAKER_02]: So I do know.
1:10:36
[SPEAKER_02]: But I just blended Sarah.
1:10:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Tara, my gosh, Tara and sourdough, which I said, Sarah, but Tara loves a pretzel as well as I'm trying to say now that we've got nothing on that out of the way.
1:10:48
[SPEAKER_02]: No, but that seemed to be an incentive.
1:10:51
[SPEAKER_00]: But in execution, execution, that thing looks disgusting.
1:10:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, even the moralized says, nobody's ever made me something that's disgusting before it.
1:10:58
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's the cream cheese.
1:10:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know what I would have accepted if it was like match potatoes and it was like the side and I could kind of like reassemble The burger from it because like all also doing like mayo or even like an aioli like too much sauce too little burger You know what you mean?
1:11:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I think I need something that like supplements it and is more like a side dish that I can kind of like move aside Because someone was like, oh, I would do it like cottage cheese and I was like, okay, why?
1:11:28
[SPEAKER_02]: tell me why tell me why that because that sounds awful yeah and the any kind of iteration of it has always sounded bad so I'm also the the pretzel basket yeah 72% of the poll because how many people voted in this um almost 5,000 people voted in this poll and uh 72% of them agreed with the pretzel basket
1:11:50
[SPEAKER_02]: which I was very proud of y'all for.
1:11:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, I, those, now did you pose the question of like, which would you eat?
1:11:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Which would you order?
1:11:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
1:12:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's on a menu.
1:12:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
1:12:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I was like, are you, are you basing it off of, you know, which, which,
1:12:09
[SPEAKER_00]: is more creative, which is more, you know, of a sentiment, I don't know if you're okay.
1:12:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I got it.
1:12:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Love.
1:12:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Because Santa Barbara, I would say, is arguably more sentimental, just because of like, she doesn't get to go to Thanksgiving.
1:12:23
[SPEAKER_02]: She doesn't get to go to Christmas and have that like apple tart that she wants, and so he does something little festive for her.
1:12:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:12:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So the next one he did was pancakes.
1:12:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And we talked about Suki's version of this early in the episode, which was blueberry lemon pancakes from a tale of Pozenfire that she overrides the diner with.
1:12:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And then of course Luke's is his pumpkin pancake.
1:12:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon butter.
1:12:47
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon butter every time for me every time.
1:12:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm every time lemon sounds good.
1:12:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I'm not I'm not a citrus in my baked.
1:12:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Good lady.
1:12:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what you're.
1:12:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I do think that Suki would do a great Great pancake like if I was going to have
1:13:07
[SPEAKER_00]: that it would be from Suki.
1:13:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I think she would do a really fine job.
1:13:11
[SPEAKER_02]: But I can't like a cream with it.
1:13:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Like a whipped cream of sorts.
1:13:16
[SPEAKER_02]: But Pumkin?
1:13:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Love it.
1:13:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:13:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:13:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Give pancakes this weekend.
1:13:20
[SPEAKER_00]: It's cinnamon butter.
1:13:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have cinnamon butter.
1:13:23
[SPEAKER_02]: But someone did say this would be really good with cinnamon butter and I was like, okay,
1:13:28
[SPEAKER_02]: but they all really liked it, even Hannah who doesn't really like pumpkin.
1:13:32
[SPEAKER_02]: She tasted it and she goes, oh, she got a second one, surprised.
1:13:36
[SPEAKER_02]: That's really the biggest compliment.
1:13:39
[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I know.
1:13:40
[SPEAKER_02]: When you go out for seconds, let's when you know.
1:13:42
[SPEAKER_02]: But this one was a little bit closer, but not too close.
1:13:45
[SPEAKER_02]: It was 63% of people said the pumpkin pancakes, 37.
1:13:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Blueberry, okay, pretty close though.
1:13:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty close.
1:13:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Now this one is extra close.
1:13:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It is the omelet edition.
1:13:57
[SPEAKER_02]: And this is Suki's omelet, which is three egg omelet with pinchetta and goat cheese cooked in a cherry olive oil.
1:14:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Luke's is the special omelet, which I had to rewatch the episodes like this scene several times just to get it right.
1:14:10
[SPEAKER_02]: It's three eggs with bits of bacon cubed
1:14:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Which one would you go for?
1:14:18
[SPEAKER_02]: I would go for sukis.
1:14:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I would also go for sukis, ask for it when no go cheese, but we are in the minority on that one.
1:14:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
1:14:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
1:14:28
[SPEAKER_02]: 56% of people said, looks, I'm a special omelette.
1:14:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's then go off.
1:14:33
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a cubed tomatoes girl.
1:14:36
[SPEAKER_00]: It was the cutest tomatoes.
1:14:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the cubed tomatoes really threw me.
1:14:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Nor am I a Swiss cheese person?
1:14:42
[SPEAKER_00]: If I get an omelette, it's usually cheddar cheese.
1:14:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or the dash that you reckon how it go or yeah, me too, my little bit she's sounds really good I just yeah, I think I'd go for that.
1:14:55
[SPEAKER_02]: You know Sukey loves a panchetta, Sukey loves a goat cheese.
1:14:59
[SPEAKER_02]: She does it's true
1:15:02
[SPEAKER_02]: So the next category is a nice bev and this was Sukey's iced tea from Norman Mailer, of course Against Luke's coffee.
1:15:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man.
1:15:11
[SPEAKER_00]: That's tough because I'm inclined to say Luke's coffee I'm inclined to say it, but it's just like hot coffee, but I love nothing.
1:15:19
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing.
1:15:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I Obviously famously no longer drinking coffee, and I love iced tea
1:15:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I love iced tea.
1:15:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I got iced tea.
1:15:28
[SPEAKER_00]: So you need to make me a turkey sandwich, iced tea, and you know what I mean?
1:15:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:15:33
[SPEAKER_02]: But like, I like a plain, unsweetened iced tea, maybe a little lemon, probably not, just the iced tea.
1:15:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
1:15:41
[SPEAKER_02]: So I did go with that.
1:15:42
[SPEAKER_02]: But this again was not as close as I thought it was going to be, and it is 67% of people said Luke's coffee.
1:15:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:15:51
[SPEAKER_02]: And I just was like, I wanted to challenge all of them.
1:15:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, are you doing this sentimentally, like, is there something about it to, like, having a loose coffee, but, like, let's sit down.
1:16:00
[SPEAKER_02]: You're at a diner.
1:16:01
[SPEAKER_02]: You're having black coffee.
1:16:02
[SPEAKER_02]: You can put a sugar in it.
1:16:03
[SPEAKER_02]: You can put a cream in it.
1:16:05
[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people are going to do that.
1:16:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that is what you say.
1:16:08
[SPEAKER_00]: More ice tea for you, me and Norman.
1:16:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Me, you and Norman, what a table, what a trio.
1:16:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Three peas in a boat.
1:16:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, wait, wait.
1:16:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Just stuff the extra peon.
1:16:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but weird thing to say.
1:16:29
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, sometimes I was telling my sister to this day we were driving back from Florida.
1:16:33
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, you know what's weird?
1:16:35
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you don't listen to yourself talk that often.
1:16:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, people who don't have podcasts, they like, hear themselves talk and usually just like floats off and you know you're done.
1:16:45
[SPEAKER_02]: But like, I replay in my mind sometimes what I said.
1:16:49
[SPEAKER_02]: So I can like think about like how you're gonna respond or like, it's just a different sort of flow of the conversation or like I'll stop myself in the middle of the sentence to kind of like
1:16:59
[SPEAKER_02]: And that was one of those moments where I heard it back and I was like, I know I'm going to listen back to this and be like
1:17:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
1:17:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
1:17:06
[SPEAKER_02]: And both of you just kept going?
1:17:07
[SPEAKER_02]: That's so real.
1:17:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I do that all the time.
1:17:13
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like a different kind of relationship with like your own, yeah, thought process.
1:17:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:17:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, thank you guys.
1:17:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of what thought process though, I love this about us because if you were watching this on YouTube, you kind of recognize at some point in this, our background's changed, things changed.
1:17:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I was just gonna keep going and not address it.
1:17:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I want to address this because it's cracking up because we famously have podcast and if there's really loud noise is happening in the background we kind of had stop and for some reason all of the bushes were being cut down in the neighborhood right as we are about to finish and so we this is the next day and I was like I need to wear the same shirt that I wore yesterday for continuity which you did too like you wore the same sweater you had on yesterday is if the background didn't
1:18:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, he didn't change.
1:18:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was like my hair looks probably very different.
1:18:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm a different same spot, my sweater is good.
1:18:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Luna's laying in the same spot she was laying.
1:18:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I love that.
1:18:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in an entirely different way.
1:18:16
[SPEAKER_00]: You weren't completely, yeah, literally.
1:18:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in a different room.
1:18:19
[SPEAKER_02]: The crossed state lines, but but you best believe I'm still in the same shirt.
1:18:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
1:18:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's because I, it's as thank you for the level of bouquet, which they have, which is giving deep Broadway things given.
1:18:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, of course, but I just had to stop bringing me flowers, yeah.
1:18:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
1:18:35
[SPEAKER_02]: No, so I, I did have to dress up, you had the same thought process about that, but it's different.
1:18:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, mac and cheese.
1:18:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about mac and cheese.
1:18:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Suki's was mac and cheese in a jalapeno japonli cream sauce while Luke's was moocho mac and cheese, which just brings in there's the rub.
1:18:55
[SPEAKER_02]: And Suki's of course is from the Hobbit, the sofa, and digger styles.
1:19:00
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I just love a classic mac and cheese, but
1:19:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to try soupies then.
1:19:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to try it.
1:19:09
[SPEAKER_00]: I love a classic mac and cheese.
1:19:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure Luke does great with it.
1:19:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:19:15
[SPEAKER_00]: I want like a gourmet.
1:19:18
[SPEAKER_00]: jalapeno to politely cream sauce mac and cheese.
1:19:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to at least try it.
1:19:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it sounds good personally.
1:19:25
[SPEAKER_02]: I can't go with either, but I know you can't but I did I did figure out a recent recipe for like a vegan like a sweet potato mac and cheese taste delicious.
1:19:34
[SPEAKER_02]: My family loved it.
1:19:36
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's on the Thanksgiving menu, but can't skip on both of those, but what do you think the bestie said?
1:19:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I think you've probably said Luke's they did it was 60 40 though.
1:19:47
[SPEAKER_02]: So I felt like that one was pretty easy for me.
1:19:49
[SPEAKER_02]: It's the closest one of the closest it's been The next category is sauce.
1:19:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
1:19:55
[SPEAKER_02]: It is Suki's peach sauce.
1:19:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I was hoping this one would be on the menu.
1:19:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, or and I had to think about what Luke sauce would be but it is from our favorite episode But I'm gonna go more and it was walnut and the best smell sauce the duck sauce
1:20:11
[SPEAKER_02]: It could have been the duck sauce, but it was just like walnuts in the bashramel.
1:20:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Like Larry, of course he did.
1:20:17
[SPEAKER_02]: She tasted it.
1:20:18
[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like he was denying it.
1:20:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like it was true.
1:20:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:20:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
1:20:22
[SPEAKER_02]: This one was kind of hard because like I assumed everyone was going to say peach sauce.
1:20:27
[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't know.
1:20:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
1:20:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was 72, 28.
1:20:31
[SPEAKER_00]: 28 for who?
1:20:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Which one do you think the walnuts in the best smell?
1:20:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:20:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
1:20:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I'm sorry.
1:20:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:20:40
[SPEAKER_00]: The peach sauce for me, like, I think every single one of us has had a vision of what that peach sauce tastes like because of what Laura lives as.
1:20:48
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to take a bath in that sauce.
1:20:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah.
1:20:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I have had dreams of what this sauce tastes like and I want to know.
1:20:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:20:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not always a peach, peach girl, but this one said always.
1:21:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not always, the Georgia page, but I'm not always a peach girl, but I do usually like it.
1:21:07
[SPEAKER_02]: I think maybe, as I'm saying, that I'm not really sure.
1:21:10
[SPEAKER_02]: I am confused about the bathing in it.
1:21:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Would you want to bathe in a sauce?
1:21:18
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
1:21:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
1:21:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not immediately know.
1:21:21
[SPEAKER_02]: You would hate it.
1:21:23
[SPEAKER_02]: What?
1:21:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Imagine like spilling a sauce on your hand.
1:21:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Be honest, sticky that is.
1:21:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but that's the thing is that Laurel, I make it sound like it's like smooth and silky and, like, would feel really good.
1:21:34
[SPEAKER_00]: It's sticky.
1:21:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:21:38
[SPEAKER_02]: 72% of people did say peach sauce.
1:21:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if the peach sauce does win.
1:21:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, this one, I believe is our closest one.
1:21:45
[SPEAKER_02]: And that sweet treats is actually several variations of sweet treats.
1:21:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and I put Suki's Rocky Road cookies to kill Dean up against Luke's Danish Day.
1:21:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, which one can you pick in?
1:22:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Can I be honest?
1:22:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I've never had a Danish.
1:22:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't this like, Baffles me about.
1:22:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I've never had a Danish.
1:22:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I still don't love a Danish.
1:22:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I would do this.
1:22:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Be darling together.
1:22:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm, I'm apt to pick the Danish because I'm not really a rocky road girl.
1:22:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I like the marshmallow aspect of it.
1:22:22
[SPEAKER_00]: That's actually what I don't love about it.
1:22:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
1:22:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
1:22:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I love a smur, but I don't know.
1:22:29
[SPEAKER_00]: Marshmallows in anything else hit or miss for me.
1:22:32
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I'm going to pick the Danish.
1:22:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go with Danish too.
1:22:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:22:40
[SPEAKER_02]: We just slightly lost this one.
1:22:42
[SPEAKER_02]: 51% of people said the Rocky Road cookies.
1:22:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, they sound really good.
1:22:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I would probably eat anything
1:22:51
[SPEAKER_00]: probably that she cooked.
1:22:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I trust her not just like off the street but like that she cooked.
1:22:57
[SPEAKER_02]: That she has cooked.
1:22:59
[SPEAKER_02]: She's just acquired.
1:23:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:23:01
[SPEAKER_02]: We're continuing with dessert.
1:23:03
[SPEAKER_02]: We are doing blueberry shortcake which is from Kill Me Now from The Wedding which I was thinking about this and I love that like Suki could have gotten strawberries from somewhere else but she wouldn't.
1:23:16
[SPEAKER_02]: She used Jackson's blueberries which I find to be.
1:23:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Quite cute, but that one's called Use dessert from Komi now.
1:23:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Of course.
1:23:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Against Luke's apple pie.
1:23:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, I'm sure Luke's apple pie is really good.
1:23:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And I love apple pie.
1:23:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I also love strawberry shortcake.
1:23:33
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I would love blueberry shortcake.
1:23:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm going to go with the blueberry shortcake.
1:23:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh man, this one's a tie for me.
1:23:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what is really close.
1:23:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, what a little slice of both.
1:23:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we can pick both.
1:23:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, we made that like both.
1:23:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Both.
1:23:51
[SPEAKER_02]: But that was one of the options though.
1:23:53
[SPEAKER_02]: I would pick both.
1:23:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I'd most like both.
1:23:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Probably a bigger slice of blueberry because like I do.
1:23:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I like a fruit dessert.
1:24:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I need it to be predominantly fresh fruit, admittedly, but Apple Pie is more, you know, cooked, cooked, so a bigger size of blueberry, but definitely a size of Apple as well.
1:24:12
[SPEAKER_02]: But this one was 53% of people said Apple Pie.
1:24:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
1:24:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Apple Pie is classic.
1:24:18
[SPEAKER_02]: It's classic, it's apple pie.
1:24:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like, what's the answer for things?
1:24:21
[SPEAKER_02]: He's a jiggle-ow.
1:24:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
1:24:23
[SPEAKER_02]: We're Luke things just as a jiggle-ow, obviously.
1:24:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
1:24:26
[SPEAKER_00]: But this is also assuming that Luke bakes the apple pie himself.
1:24:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
1:24:32
[SPEAKER_00]: That's fair, getting it frozen or anything.
1:24:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Or he's not buying it, like he doesn't have a good, yeah, dessert.
1:24:38
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's why I'm I'm more inclined to say the the very short kick because I know it's being Because you know she made that.
1:24:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, hmm.
1:24:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he doesn't make his brownies.
1:24:49
[SPEAKER_02]: He does.
1:24:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I also leads makes everything he sells, but I don't fully know.
1:24:54
[SPEAKER_02]: yeah well he doesn't make his bread he's a bread supplier we know that so maybe he has pastry supplier as well to make all his daynishes i don't know i don't know who's to say
1:25:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, speaking of brownies though, that is the next one.
1:25:08
[SPEAKER_02]: The category was just more sweets.
1:25:11
[SPEAKER_02]: It is more.
1:25:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Suki's muffin bottom pie versus Luke's triple cocoa powder brownies.
1:25:17
[SPEAKER_02]: This one was really surprising for me.
1:25:19
[SPEAKER_00]: And the pie love a brownie.
1:25:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Triple though of a brownie, but triple the chocolate makes me one of them.
1:25:26
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm gonna go with the muffin bottom pie, even though I would take Luke's regular brownies,
1:25:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like a brownie that has like a nut or something in it or something like a wall nut or something like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut, like a wall nut
1:25:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but 63% of people said the brownies.
1:26:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm surprised, but I was like triple cocoa.
1:26:02
[SPEAKER_00]: No, again, we're talking about apple pie, we're talking about brownies, like, it's a chocolate cocoa.
1:26:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so no, I totally, so I was like, on a vote and I wasn't sound good.
1:26:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it is.
1:26:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, in truth, I don't really know what it is.
1:26:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Either again.
1:26:17
[SPEAKER_00]: But I want to try it.
1:26:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd love to try it.
1:26:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:26:21
[SPEAKER_02]: But sometimes when people click something, I want to be like, hey, but you have to eat it with triple the cocoa powder.
1:26:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:26:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Not triple.
1:26:27
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot.
1:26:28
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot.
1:26:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:26:31
[SPEAKER_02]: That's a lot.
1:26:31
[SPEAKER_02]: If it was double, maybe.
1:26:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I'd like a single triple.
1:26:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Triple is a lot.
1:26:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I could do triple with a scoop of ice cream.
1:26:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that's fair to give it to balance it out.
1:26:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, maybe a little vanilla sauce.
1:26:46
[SPEAKER_02]: that'd be good.
1:26:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, the next one is their critiqued dishes.
1:26:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
1:26:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And so of course we have Sikis Magicrazotto, which got a bad review, not a bad review.
1:26:55
[SPEAKER_02]: It was critiqued.
1:26:57
[SPEAKER_02]: And then I think it was fine.
1:26:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it was perfectly fine.
1:27:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:27:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:27:03
[SPEAKER_02]: And then of course we have Luke's turkey burgers, which are critiqued by none other than famous food critic.
1:27:09
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a very dry, very dry.
1:27:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Now I love a turkey burger.
1:27:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
1:27:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I, however, think I would prefer a regular beef burger from Luke's.
1:27:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I might try a turkey burger, but I want to try that magic risotto.
1:27:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I want the magic risotto.
1:27:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to live longer.
1:27:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I do too.
1:27:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:27:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I got fame.
1:27:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:27:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
1:27:33
[SPEAKER_02]: That is what
1:27:38
[SPEAKER_02]: But I also just feel like it's so easy to mess up a turkey burger.
1:27:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Who's just say bootsies wrong?
1:27:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they are very dry.
1:27:44
[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, do you think Luke, Suge is saying Luke makes a damn fine burger?
1:27:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And his brother always jins it to turkey burger.
1:27:52
[SPEAKER_00]: No, not always.
1:27:53
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's why I kind of will like a regular beef burger from Luke's.
1:27:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I want to know what these burgers are all about.
1:27:59
[SPEAKER_02]: So fair, so fair.
1:28:01
[SPEAKER_02]: What about the apple side?
1:28:02
[SPEAKER_02]: The people do you want to guess?
1:28:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Probably the risotto.
1:28:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, 76% of our besties are going to order the risotto.
1:28:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder how that would measure up against an actual, like just Luke's dyno looks or a burger.
1:28:21
[SPEAKER_02]: We could do that.
1:28:21
[SPEAKER_00]: We could do another cheeseburger, you know?
1:28:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:28:25
[SPEAKER_02]: We could check back in.
1:28:27
[SPEAKER_02]: We could check back in.
1:28:27
[SPEAKER_02]: But I specifically was doing their critique food because he is known for his burgers.
1:28:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I probably should have included their iconic dishes.
1:28:34
[SPEAKER_02]: What would be iconic from Suki, though?
1:28:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's like Luke's first pretty.
1:28:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but like no one, we don't really see anyone eating it, right?
1:28:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess she makes so much that she doesn't just have like, she has a lot of variety.
1:28:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and she prefers that.
1:28:51
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't like to make a lot of the same things twice.
1:28:54
[SPEAKER_00]: We saw that in the ends and out of ends.
1:28:55
[SPEAKER_00]: She was like, I mean, yeah, I made this last search day and this is Thursday.
1:29:00
[SPEAKER_00]: So, therefore, if we get the same people, I don't want to think and Laura is like, okay, it's me.
1:29:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but she really like, she really heavily considers those things.
1:29:08
[SPEAKER_02]: So, I don't think she likes to be a dish repeater.
1:29:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do like the idea though of like a chef being like, well, if someone comes every thirst I hear for dinner and I'm serving the same thing, they're getting the same dishes.
1:29:19
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I like about her.
1:29:21
[SPEAKER_02]: The next category is stuffed in the parties over when we discover that Luke has a repertoire of gourmet meals.
1:29:31
[SPEAKER_02]: He makes more like tomatoes, stuffed with bread crumbs, and goat cheese, and I put that up against
1:29:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what a squash blossom tastes like.
1:29:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be like squash.
1:29:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
1:29:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of opposed in general to the idea of a stuffed tomato.
1:29:54
[SPEAKER_02]: As I am, I.
1:29:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It just feels like the wrong vehicle for a stuffed.
1:29:59
[SPEAKER_02]: If you do like stuffed peppers, if you will.
1:30:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Bye.
1:30:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
1:30:04
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say the squash blossoms, mostly because it'd be intrigued to try them, but I'm not big on tomatoes personally.
1:30:14
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's a good answer.
1:30:15
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good answer.
1:30:15
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a harder phrase.
1:30:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Same, I agree.
1:30:18
[SPEAKER_02]: To eat.
1:30:19
[SPEAKER_02]: But I do like a roasted tomato so like I imagine whatever's in it is cooked in like that sounds quite nice but I am going stuff squash blossoms which is different than what the best he said 56 percent are going to eat a stuffed tomato 44 percent will eat a stuffed squash blossom.
1:30:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I also believe the squash blossoms are fried
1:30:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so my last one is actually them fixing each other's recipes.
1:30:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
1:30:52
[SPEAKER_02]: The first one is from cinnamon's wake with the open face turkey, where she adds lemon and cayenne, and then from, but I may go more when he put goat cheese in the fennel salad.
1:31:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go with goat cheese in the fennel salad.
1:31:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Are you okay?
1:31:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Or are you going to have a salad?
1:31:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Salad with fennel in it?
1:31:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola.
1:31:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I love goat cheese.
1:31:17
[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, do you love it to a lot of things?
1:31:20
[SPEAKER_02]: So did the Paladinos?
1:31:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Everything always has goat cheese in them.
1:31:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
1:31:24
[SPEAKER_02]: What their decision was for a lot of these dishes.
1:31:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And they came about because so many things have goat cheese in them.
1:31:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Great question.
1:31:30
[SPEAKER_02]: and I want to do that too.
1:31:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Did they consult like a professional corner?
1:31:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, or just someone who knows flavors.
1:31:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, are they, did they cook?
1:31:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think that a lot of the time you have to think about that.
1:31:45
[SPEAKER_02]: That is so cool.
1:31:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I was talking to author Julie Olivia and she one of her beta readers loves to cook and she was like What's happening in the kitchen here because they've got like flower out, but they're like boiling water And I don't know what you're making here like this doesn't make any sense and so like I feel like when you do that You have to kind of step back and be like if you have a chef in your story Yeah, like if with Amy it has to make some of the flavors and like what they like to make So I feel like I want to know now
1:32:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was thinking about how old I was doing this because they have a lot of I want to go cheese on the show.
1:32:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
1:32:22
[SPEAKER_02]: They love pop-tarts and go cheese as well, you know, so so true.
1:32:27
[SPEAKER_02]: But you're going with the fennel salad.
1:32:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Me.
1:32:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm going with the goat cheese and the fennel salad.
1:32:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go with the open face turkey.
1:32:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
1:32:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I love an open face sandwich.
1:32:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:32:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
1:32:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure she contains really good some lemon.
1:32:40
[SPEAKER_02]: What are the people's thoughts?
1:32:41
[SPEAKER_02]: The people did agree with me.
1:32:43
[SPEAKER_02]: 62% of people said open face turkey.
1:32:47
[SPEAKER_02]: And I wonder if it's because most of us do not know what a fan of salad is.
1:32:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Fennel.
1:32:54
[SPEAKER_00]: You're looking at first.
1:32:55
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Sarah.
1:32:56
[SPEAKER_00]: A fennel salad is a crisp, refreshing dish made with thinly sliced raw fennel bulb and to
1:33:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they put anything else in there.
1:33:09
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the fennel.
1:33:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, fennel bulb chopped, fennel fronds.
1:33:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what that means.
1:33:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Have a small red onion, lemon juice, fresh ground pepper, one fourth of a cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese, optional.
1:33:25
[SPEAKER_00]: OK, OK.
1:33:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, I'm seeing an recipe for shaved apple and fennel salad.
1:33:31
[SPEAKER_00]: That sounds really good.
1:33:32
[SPEAKER_00]: That would also be great with goat cheese.
1:33:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Apple and goat cheese are you joking goes go hand in hand very well I don't know I don't know But see I think it's like a like shave Brussels sprouts that sort of thing.
1:33:45
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like the the fennel salad is the salad.
1:33:47
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a salad with fennel It is the salad
1:33:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Copy, I got you.
1:33:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Well now that we've educated you on Fennel or you're sitting here listening to us being like girls.
1:33:58
[SPEAKER_02]: This is, this isn't, this is not it.
1:34:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
1:34:02
[SPEAKER_00]: This is not a Fennel salad.
1:34:04
[SPEAKER_00]: I still stand by what I said.
1:34:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I think you still cheese.
1:34:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't even like it.
1:34:09
[SPEAKER_00]: The Fennel salad.
1:34:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'd be intrigued by.
1:34:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very particular about my salads.
1:34:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Dressing on the side, Sally all bright, but, uh, yeah, I think that's what I get.
1:34:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd also like the open face turkey.
1:34:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think they'd be nice together.
1:34:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:34:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, funnle salad on the side, but the little, like a, you choose to, Peniris style.
1:34:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you picked too.
1:34:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Love, love you picked too.
1:34:33
[SPEAKER_00]: but thank you for doing all of that for our besties so that they could be part of it and love one of our besties our part of it, me too.
1:34:41
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's Luke and Suki, God, Luki, Luki, if you will.
1:34:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I love the way that they used the writers used to their characters vehicles for
1:34:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Really different styles of cooking, implementing food into the show, which I was thinking about as we were preparing to do this episode and I just don't feel like there are a lot of shows out there that have this much variety in the way that food is centered in the show as Gilmore Girls does.
1:35:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we talk about coffee a lot, but like food is such a central focus because it literally is it touches on so many different locations that they spend their time in.
1:35:24
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a way that they, you know, bring people together in the form of Friday night dinner in the girls going to eat at Luke's and like reconciliation that happened there, fights that happened there, big dramatic moments that happened there, conversations, bigger small, you know,
1:35:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Really cool the way that they use it to tell the story in ways that I Really realize until we started preparing for the stuff.
1:35:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but like I'm saying that's a really interesting piece of the story in all regards Like it really matches each of it each of the characters.
1:35:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good characterization because like when we go to Friday night dinner It's prepared by a chef.
1:36:00
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a made there that's serving it.
1:36:01
[SPEAKER_02]: It's very formal
1:36:02
[SPEAKER_02]: like they're feeding them, but it's like in a very different way of loving them than Luke, who like, it's like he works at a diner.
1:36:09
[SPEAKER_02]: He's making very different food until we access that different part of him as a romantic interest to see that he has like, you know, a reptile of gourmet meals, suki, who is like more culinary inclined, who is so controlling when it comes to her food, but like open and loving.
1:36:24
[SPEAKER_02]: But then we turn over to the Kims, and
1:36:26
[SPEAKER_02]: and Lane is always like, I can't whatever is happening in her home in terms of food in terms of eating and is always trying to get like sneak food from the Gilmourers at loose diner, etc.
1:36:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Like when Keon comes in and she eats fries for the first time and she has the devil's starchy fingers.
1:36:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's just like so many different aspects of it of
1:36:48
[SPEAKER_02]: how that all comes together and I think that's like a big cozy aspect of it.
1:36:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I will say I'll say I think it's one of the reasons that the revival was kind of lacking in I agree various regards because we lost that and I'm just not thinking about that that like we lost those like communal meals and like the the kitchen conversations but specifically with Suki because like we had so many
1:37:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
1:37:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Literally, yeah.
1:37:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
1:37:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Literally, yeah.
1:37:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah.
1:37:21
[SPEAKER_00]: It was different.
1:37:22
[SPEAKER_00]: It was definitely different.
1:37:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I never thought about that before.
1:37:25
[SPEAKER_00]: You're so right.
1:37:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:37:27
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of things that are missing.
1:37:29
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that like kind of that like simmering in the background, if you will, pun intended of like having that cozy aspect in every person's storyline was really important.
1:37:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I missed it.
1:37:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Totally agree.
1:37:41
[SPEAKER_00]: But with all of that said, we hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving next week.
1:37:44
[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't airing the week of Thanksgiving.
1:37:46
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the week before, but it could be the week of Thanksgiving if you listen next week.
1:37:51
[SPEAKER_00]: That's so true, depending on when you're listening to this.
1:37:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but we hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving.
1:37:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, regardless of what you do, so about.
1:38:00
[SPEAKER_00]: food and fun and friends or family, maybe both, we're excited and all these have a really good one.
1:38:07
[SPEAKER_00]: We do have Thanksgiving merch this year, which I am so excited about, so head to WWW.com where to say dot com and get yourself a Thanksgiving shirt in preparation for the holidays.
1:38:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't skip the rolls.
1:38:19
[SPEAKER_00]: They're very important.
1:38:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, as always, if you enjoy listening to our show, feel free to leave us a five-star review on Apple podcasts.
1:38:28
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't even have to leave a review just a rating, and also be sure to subscribe to us wherever you listen to your podcast, whether that's Spotify, Apple, or even YouTube, if you're watching us, you got to see us change backgrounds and kind of change.
1:38:42
[SPEAKER_00]: a little bit.
1:38:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, but we did just talk about a year in the life and some things that were maybe missing from the revival, like Suki and her food kind of bringing people together in a way that we saw throughout the series but didn't get to see when they revived the show.
1:38:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Also last week we had a Richard episode where we talked about Lorelie and Richard's relationship towards the end after doing a deep dive on him and the things that Lorelie could have said about Richard when her mom asked for a nice lovely little Richard anecdote after his funeral and she of course stuck her foot in her mouth and said some
1:39:18
[SPEAKER_00]: told not nice story about Richard.
1:39:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
1:39:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And we said that we wanted to talk about that in our year in the life GTC because the next week is going to be the anniversary, the nine year anniversary of a year in the life airing, which is sentimental because it is the same amount of time that passed as the revival airing from the finale of season seven of Gilmore Girls airing in 2007.
1:39:38
[SPEAKER_00]: So it feels a little symbolic, which is kind of crazy.
1:39:41
[SPEAKER_00]: It's been the same amount of time.
1:39:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And so if you guys have thoughts on things that Lorelei should have said, could have said you wanted her to say, or if you really liked that she said something not so nice about Richard, that prompted this whole blow up between her and her mom at the beginning of the revival, call us, be bus, if you want to reach us, and if you want to reach out to your voice mail next week, and we'll have more to sound that in the next episode.
