Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: What's up guys, guy here, coming up, what I saw at 49ers practice on Thursday that I think is great, great news for the 49ers defense.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: But first, a prediction.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's not too early for a, we haven't had our first preseason game, but it's not too early for a prediction.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: And my prediction is something that you may have heard if you listen to Nick Wagner's podcast that we did a couple days ago.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think of it until I started talking to Nick at the end of it.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: I said, I think that I can, yeah, be the best red zone offense.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, that's the prediction.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think the 49ers are going to be the number one touchdown scoring offense in the red zone this year.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: They were number five last year and they've got a chance to be the best.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: Shannon, maybe the best of the Shannon era period.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's had two offenses that led the league and touchdown percentage, including in 2023, when not only were the number one, but they scored 45 touchdowns on the red zone, which is more than the 43 touchdowns.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: They scored the red zone last year.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we know they lack explosion.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Josh do vow the AP told me that he ran the numbers in the foot honors average distance for a touchdown was eight yards.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's the shortest in the lead.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think they John Stribling can help that get better and my heavens can help that get better and Brock pretty through a deep all in practice on Thursday that opened my eyes.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully that gets better.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think Debo and short yardage and McAfrey and short yardage.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe there's just more missed direction on second and short.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: That can help that get better.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: But even if it doesn't, I think this is going to be the number one touchdown scoring offense in the right zone.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: So let's get into the reasons why some of them are obvious, but the numbers can be pretty eye-opening.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: And what the Niners have on their roster once George Kittle
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: is the number one goal line receiver in the NFL in the last five years in my heavens.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: And the number one goal line tight end in the NFL in the last five years in George Kittle.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: For those of you watching on YouTube, you can see the graphics.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: What I did was I, and I spent this offseason building a database using the free NFL API data that's out there, and I can just ask it a question, and it'll give me an answer.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I asked it a question, and it gave me not red zone touchdowns against targets, but opportunities are not against touches, which is what I thought was like, give me touches.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: It actually gave me opportunities, which includes targets.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: So last five years, Mike Evans, even last year was down for him.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: If you had 21 touchdowns in 31 opportunities in five years, 68% of the time, he's going to touch down when you gave him the opportunity.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Last five years, number one, the league amongst receivers.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's fine, Jason Smith, number two.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: Tight ends, Kittle, 11 touchdowns.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: This is within the five.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think I might have said within the red zone.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: But these stats are from the five yard line and in.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: So this is goal one.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: Kittle, 11 TDs and 18 opportunities in that stretch.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you go back, you go and look at the Niners team and they're stats last year.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think when you take those two guys, you had Debo who was really good in the red zone last year.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: You had Christian who was a machine totally changed them in the red zone last year.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you also have to consider even when Kiddled is out that Jake Tanjas was really good in the red zone last year.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: Last year, Christian McCaffrey.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're watching, it's in the red box.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you can read it.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: But if you can't, Christian McCaffrey last year had a hundred red zone opportunities, which is crazy.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: He had more red zone touches than Debo, Kittle, Evans, Tanjus, Perti, combined.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: If you're talking design runs for Brock.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: And again, Evans numbers were down last year.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: But he still had 17 red zone touchdowns.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: Now 100 opportunities means he only scored a touchdown quote unquote only 17% of the time, which was still 26 than the NFL, but his following was just crazy high.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think when you have all these guys out there together, some of their individual numbers might go down, like Christians individual number might go down.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: But it did just going to be so much harder to cover.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: And then I think you had dribbling to that.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: And Mac Jones had a great complement of day John's dribbling.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: He said, dribbling is fast through the ball, through the catch.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: He said, some guys are fast, but the second they start looking for the ball, they slow down.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Stribbling is fast and keeps that speed up all the way to the point where he meets the ball.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a unique talent.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: That was Mac Jones inside on Thursday.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was a very interesting insight.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans didn't play much, didn't really qualify, but in the red zone last year, nine opportunities, three touchdowns.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: So even in a down year, pretty good.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: But in 2024, he was six in the NFL.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: Um, cattle last year, second, six touchdowns in 14 opportunities.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's fantastic.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: Debo, five touchdowns in 17 opportunities in the red zone.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's not catches.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's just, that's not touches.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's targets and carries.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: So don't, like those rates are so good.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: Perty had three.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: Tanjas had four in the red zone.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: And what's when you dig in just to the goal line, I think they're gonna be goal line monsters between Evans and the at 65 and he looks it and the height is dribbling and Debo and Christian.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: And Kittal and Perty's legs.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: Last year, Kittal Tanjas and Perty combined were a perfect eight for eight.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: inside the five yard line.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: So basically on the goal line, when you try to get in the opportunity to score.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I think there's things that Tom just can't do that George can do, like block at the rate George blocks, but there's one thing he can do, which is be a weapon in the red zone.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think it's going to be, I think they're going to be, once they get down there, I think they're going to be impossible to stop this year.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: Now,
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: Will they be explosive?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: Will they score from outside the 20 yard line?
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: Here's how bad it was last year for the 49ers.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: They have five touchdowns.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: This is a little trivia.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, I won't show you that one first.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the trivia question.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers had five touchdowns from outside of the red zone.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: They're great in the red zone.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: But only five touchdowns from outside of the red zone last year.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, that is the fourth lowest in the NFL.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: Minnesota had three Arizona and Kansas City each had four.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: The 40 that has tied with Atlanta and Tennessee five.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: Not great.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: That is not an impressive list of teams.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: The night is scored so much that when you scored 40 touchdowns, you take the percentage.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Only 10% of their touchdowns were from outside of the 20.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: That is the lowest percentage in the NFL.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: So the trivia question, I asked intern Micah who's behind the scenes right now.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: If he could remember, how many of the five touchdowns that the nine are scored from outside of the 20?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Can you remember?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll give you a hint, that there is one that I,
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: can't forget.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably my favorite touch down of the year selfishly and not selfishly.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: So here's your hint while you think of the other four.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Here's one of them.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: that does more work than my third coffee that day for me.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fired up.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the list.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: The five touchdowns that I have scored from outside the 20.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: Juan Jennings that touched down 38 yards from purdy against the bears.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: Purdy to democracy Robinson against the cults was a 22 yarder.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Purdy at the Cardinals had a 30 yarder to kiddle.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: Jake time just had a 21 yarder against the jags.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: and week two, Mac Jones had a 42 yarder against the same.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: So then I was just didn't do it last year.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think this number, it's critical that this is better.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's the beauty of my Kevin's.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, you know, if Mike Evans is ever out for a game, it's the pain of my Kevin's is that he helps you everywhere.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: He helps you in the red zone where you're all ready better.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: And he really helps you from outside of the 20.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Were you like to get?
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, I'm so tired, I want to see this that ever again, but you can't, it's not going to go away.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: It shouldn't go away yet.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's, you know, the fact that it's hard to come from behind that I just don't come from behind.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: In the fourth quarter, trailing by more than the touchdown.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I've always felt like it's because they don't hit.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, like the true go ball, the one on one, it's Mike Evans against your number one corner and it's not about scheme.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's not about Kyle getting somebody open loopen over the middle of the field.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's just model a model players beat players.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: And your guy goes and wins like Julio used to.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and like that in crunch time.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you quick strike and it's great to be able to take the air out of the ball and put a 15 play drive together and then punch it in the red zone.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's not great if you're down 10 in the fourth quarter.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's not great if you're down 14 with 10 minutes to play.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's when it's not great.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's like to me.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: When you look at that stat for Kyle, people think like what's wrong with Kyle, I think it's that they've lacked that they have lacked the combination of a receiver that can do it and or a quarterback that can hit it.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: They've never really, I mean, a manual Sanders, I guess it's with Danny Gray who's supposed to be supposed to be as too strong, but that's what they've been trying to find.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, it's, there was never debos thing.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's not John's thing.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even really IU's thing.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Are you old enough to remember Brandon IU?
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm old enough to remember Brandon IU.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, so Mike Evans solves a lot of those problems.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, other news, things that stood out to me Thursday's practice, I said it, I keep saying it.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody asked me about it.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: The stock continues to rise every day.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: There's a couple of guys who stock rises every day.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: We just talked about Ronaldo in the conversation with Nick Wagner.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: That was his guy.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's my guy.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: My stock couldn't have been lower on Ronaldo green after the last season.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he did not have the second year jump that so often you expect players to have and that was actually second year guys, Pune because the injury of Stoffa, a lot of the guys everyone was fired up about after the rookie years did not take big steps forward last year, Pune was hurt.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a big factor.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm going to Stoffa's hurt, but it feels like Renardo Green is primed now.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: I articulated a little bit talking to Wagner, I'm not going to do it all again here,
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: It was interesting that Mac Jones, he brought up an art over it.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: And Mac's great because he's a comfortable, he talks in a press conference like he would just talk if you were talking to him the whole way insightful.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so it is now a list.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: of at least four or five people that have mentioned Renardo Green or Nautos Improvement.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: And you can tell when they're talking, then I just talking about technique or strength training or drop the couple pounds.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: They're talking about the total person.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I think even most importantly, when Renardo stood up there into the press conference, I was really impressed.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you don't get to have success without adversity,
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the question is never, you know, how do you perform in a perfect situation?
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's how do you perform with things go wrong?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: It Kyle Shanahan, screaming at you on the field over one thing, missed assignment.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: And you had a, you lost your cool and had a personal foul penalty in another game.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just, the energy's bad.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: The vibes are bad.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: The performances that just not what it's supposed to be, and you get smacked in the face with, with life.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: And it feels like the question with Rado's not been talent.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not been, you know, when he's on the field, the desire to play.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think it's, I have done a 180 on him, not from last year to this year, but like between the end of the regular, the end of the playoffs last year and the start of this season, right?
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: Which almost never happens, like you rarely do you ever see a player end of season with the aeropointing way down and then before you've even played a game, I or anybody, you will and I say like, oh, it's gonna be totally different this year, but it's just, it's undeniable.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel very confident, I'm not waiting, I'm not hedging.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need to see it, right out of green turn to corner.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: And it's going to pay off for him.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing Matt Jones said, and this is the thing I mentioned at the top of the video, he said it feels like our defensive backs are making more plays on the ball and campus here.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's true.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones is a name who, this is a guy when the Titans game is on next week
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was the preseason, some of you may remember, and it wasn't a big part of the year, but to get through a year, you need in a moment somebody here, somebody there out of nowhere to make a play.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: And last year, there was a guy who I thought had no chance to make the team in this time, Chase Lucas.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: And he just kept making plays in practice every single day.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then he made plays in the preseason.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then he was just around on practice.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then he finally got a shot.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: And he made a couple of plays.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: Now, ultimately, he get overexposed.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: He played probably too much.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think Jack Jones is proven to be.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones has a better NFL resume than Chase does.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I just thought Chase was an inspiring player last year.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones is that version this year.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: But I think with a higher ceiling, he's played a lot.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: The last two years entered Micahs.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's a writer fan, I'll tell you.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones played a lot the last two years.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: He had three picks two years ago.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Sixth year in the league, he is he's not the main point of guys get their hands on the ball, but the Niners were they were awful for most of the year getting interceptions last year.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: They they thank God for the jets because the Niners you remember said a record last year through seven weeks, going back to the previous season, 14 straight games without a pick, they broke the record.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: of interceptionless games set by the 2018 Oakland Raid is they finally got a pick I think we'll re-gate against the Texans the 49ers finished with six interceptions which was the tie which was tied with the titans and the cowboys for the second fewest the team
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: And so the jets now hold the record for most consecutive games without an interception, thank God.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: But look, everyone always says it, the past rush and your coverage go hand in hand.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not going to get pressure on the quarterback, it's going to be hard to get picks.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: So true, but even without a past rush, you shouldn't go 14 straight games without a pick.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: And so it does feel like these guys are just, you know, I think having Fred Warner around
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: feel like the corners up to the start of his second year is they're just so like I was coming up with a field talking on Thursday to Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Baria and we're talking about Fred Warner and just like how aggressive he is and I noticed because there's almost like a little dust up in practice not really I mean not really but like just one guy said something and one guy said something
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, you know, it feels like Fred Warner's presence and the way Fred practices and talks has given up and stout the license to just be himself and kind of be a jerk like in the best it's a compliment in the best in the way that Fred is and she said and this is great reference by her she has the same thing that Kwan Alexander did for Fred Warner when he showed up he just encouraged him to just
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: don't back down for anybody, be yourself, go mix it up, Fred did, it's worked.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if Fred and Upton has talked about it.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: I have talked about it, but it just, that was the feeling I got watching practice today.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's like watching Fred be that way, has given up in license.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know what?
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have to back down for anybody.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna slap the ball, just like Fred does.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: And so I thought that was pretty cool.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that was, it does feel like these guys feel like.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I think watching practice, it does feel this way that they're going to get their hand on the ball more.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody asked a question in the comments, and maybe we get some comments together, Mike, and do a Mel Bag, and maybe go through a week's worth of comments and answers some questions.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: But somebody asked how much practice do we get to watch?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: The answer is all of practice.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: In camp, you get to watch all of practice.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: So through the pre-season games, you get to watch all of the practice.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then once camp technically ends, you only get to watch like the first 20 minutes.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: So you don't see as much.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: But right now, when you see your favorite reporter,
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: or YouTuber, or broadcaster, talking about the 49ers, practice, they're watching the whole thing.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: And just like a lot of these are open to fans, some of them are not.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Dave John's dribbling was back on Thursday, not fully back, but back enough to look good.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: So check that off.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: Another guy who's trending, Grayson Hulton, the fourth round pick from Oklahoma.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: He has made plays in practice.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: Brock, I mentioned the deep ball.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's made a couple great throws.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: He made a couple really good.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Brock's been really good.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like the way a franchise quarterback should look in a practice.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like not just steady, not just consistent.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: But in control, and really good.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: And he's been in control, and really good.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: He threw a deep-old on the left side line that was very pretty.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: He layered a ball, the tangest, over Fred Warner, that was ridiculous.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: He just looks so locked in.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: And it's great to see.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: Underrated, we don't know yet how long cow use check is going to be out with his broken finger.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, that's one, I think, really worth monitoring.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: It will be back soon enough.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's serious, dribbling, same, you know.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: But Kyle breaking his finger is a big deal.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like that guy, he knows everybody's rolling the offense.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Especially without kiddo, he takes on some of the blocking responsibility.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, like, it's a big deal.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's a big deal.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: I asked Rahim Morris today, our Thursday.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: How much time he spends?
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: I said, do you have much time in the off season and now in the preseason to think about which Sean McVay thinks about what Raheem Morris thinks about what Sean McVay thinks?
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, and there's a quote every day coach.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, okay.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think we can get so caught up in the day-to-day camp stuff.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: This guy was this and it could good rap against this guy and and that's stuff matters.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not pooping it at all.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: It matters to the coaches.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: It matters to the players.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: So it should matter to us.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: But What I'm thinking about is week one the Rams.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: That game is so big.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, the whole, we spent the whole off season talking about like, oh, the Rams at 13 personnel and the last year everyone's trying to 13 personnel like the Rams and blah, blah, blah, blah, who knows what McFaz got cooked up, who knows what Rehears got cooked up, who knows what Kyle's got cooked up.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like these guys, they know each other so well.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: There is a curveball or 10 curveballs coming.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: They've had all off season, the game's such a big deal.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: If this game wasn't an Australia, it'd be a big deal.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: But then you add to it that it's an Australia and the nanners are going more than a week before and the Rams are flying in the day of, which is, like kind of gutsy.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, McVay talks about like, we're like CTL team six and it worked.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: And like it's just, it's a,
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, both these teams just have so much to gain and lose.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: And if you go out there and lose, because you flew in the day before, everyone will have an opinion.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: If you flew in the week before and you get beat by the team, that just flew in the day before, that's not going to feel good.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to feel like two.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be a stomach punch.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if the game's 27, 24, somebody just wins at somebody loses it.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's like, well, if you had flown in a week ago, you would have made that kick, you know, I don't.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: But if it's 27 to 10, then it's going to be hard not to take the travel.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: And if 10 30 AM, Australia time, I'm going to have where I'm going to have to get where the Apple, I don't wear an Apple watch usually except for when I sleep because I want the silent alarm.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I can wake myself up and not the baby of my wife.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm going to have to wear that thing every day with both time zones on it.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: 10, 30 a.m.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: The old Larry Scott didn't try that in the pack 12.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think Kyle Whittingham was willing to play in a 11 a.m. game once upon a time.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe her, I don't know, maybe herm didn't.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: Feels like Utah was willing to play 11 a.m. No, no, no, there was talk about doing, I think there was talk about doing 9 a.m. kicks once a part of time in the pack 12.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: That the old pack 12, that never happened.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: By this 1030a, so I'll be out there with the team.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: The Wednesday before, the Wednesday before the game.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll be there, taking it in.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're going Australia or you're in Australia,
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: great, let me know.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: Also, as you did in the last video, it seemed like guy football focus is in the lead over guys football focus.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: I've had some high profile people weigh in on that.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: So it's in the lead right now.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: And it will be an upset at this point.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: If guys football focus wins out over, guy football focus, but we'll see.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, on that note, that's it for Friday.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Saturday, 49ers are open practice again.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: And next week is joined practice with the Titans.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Salas return.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for hanging everybody.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: Hit that like button.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk to you.
