- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello, Jennifer Canfield here, Laughs Unlimited. We are here today
- 0:19Speaker 1: with Ryan Irwin. Hey, Ryan, how you doing?
- 0:22Speaker 2: Hi, doing great.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I get so jealous because I see everybody else's backgrounds
- 0:28Speaker 1: and I'm like, you have cool stuff in your background.
- 0:31Speaker 2: This is my dad's office.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Oh, that's fine. It's okay. We can pretend. Mine is
- 0:38Speaker 1: a hodgepodge of whatever is behind me right now. Ryan,
- 0:44Speaker 1: where are you from?
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm from Utah. It's where I am right now. But
- 0:49Speaker 2: I am originally from a small town in Utah called
- 0:51Speaker 2: Brigham City. And my parents retired and got a new home.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And so I'm helping them out while I'm in between
- 0:58Speaker 2: spaces right now.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Nice. I have no problem with living with parents. That
- 1:03Speaker 1: is the way of the future with housing prices being
- 1:06Speaker 1: what they are. Oh, yeah. No.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And my parents want me here because I was like, oh, like,
- 1:11Speaker 2: I'm going to look for an apartment. And they're like,
- 1:13Speaker 2: you can stay for like another six months if you want.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yeah. That's so awesome. That's awesome. Okay, Ryan, how did
- 1:21Speaker 1: we meet? Did I meet you at a festival? Is
- 1:24Speaker 1: that what it was?
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it was Big Pine 2021.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, okay, yes.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so we did that when it was at the
- 1:36Speaker 2: House of Comedy location.
- 1:39Speaker 1: In Flagstaff?
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it was in Phoenix.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Oh, oh, oh, yes, in Phoenix. Yes, yes, okay. And
- 1:47Speaker 2: then I.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Did comedy catch in Chattanooga and you're friends with Danielle.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And then you reached out to me and we're like, Hey,
- 1:59Speaker 2: do you want to come to my club?
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yes. Danielle is great. She, she definitely messages me and
- 2:09Speaker 1: she's like, if you have a book with this person,
- 2:11Speaker 1: you for sure should. She's great.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Over the TV show, big brother.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Oh, and now the secret is out.
- 2:23Speaker 2: It was during Big Brother season. I was like, hi,
- 2:25Speaker 2: I'm not going to be disrespectful. There's a lot going
- 2:27Speaker 2: on in this house. And she goes, oh, are you
- 2:28Speaker 2: talking about Big Brother? And I was like, oh my gosh.
- 2:31Speaker 2: The whole weekend we just chatted about who we thought
- 2:34Speaker 2: could win. It was great.
- 2:36Speaker 1: That's hilarious. See? And we talk about that at the
- 2:39Speaker 1: festivals that you can always bond over something other than comedy.
- 2:43Speaker 1: In fact, industry members prefer that. I went to a.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Different comedy festival and I talked about how much I
- 2:53Speaker 2: love the TV show Survivor. And then two of the
- 2:55Speaker 2: industry members are like, we're going to have lunch because
- 2:57Speaker 2: we have to talk about this season. And I was like, great.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Right, for sure. It's a great way to get to
- 3:05Speaker 1: know and to get into a club is, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 1: because we get tired of talking about comedy. Even though
- 3:11Speaker 1: it's what we do, it's not always who we are.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I mean, some of us live, breathe, and work it.
- 3:16Speaker 1: But I have other interests, I'm pretty sure.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 1: How long have you been doing comedy.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Um eight years this summer so I'm excited about that yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Okay new this is my thing yes that's awesome that's
- 3:33Speaker 1: awesome and you get do you have you been out
- 3:35Speaker 1: of the country yet with it or just just national.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah I did a couple cruise gigs and then last
- 3:42Speaker 2: fall I went to Canada with the board teachers comedy
- 3:46Speaker 2: tour so we did a little Canada run it was fun.
- 3:50Speaker 1: That's right. I forget that you are a teacher. Yes.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Or I was a teacher.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:56Speaker 2: And I'm doing comedy full time.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yes. Are we very happy about that? Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 2: So it's been, it's been good. It's been a fun adjustment.
- 4:04Speaker 2: It was a little rough at first, but I think
- 4:08Speaker 2: we found a good spot where we landed.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yes. Do you miss the classroom?
- 4:14Speaker 2: There are, when I first left, I was like, Whoa.
- 4:17Speaker 2: And then I got through a year. I was like
- 4:18Speaker 2: hankering to go back. So I actually did go back
- 4:21Speaker 2: to a school for a little bit and I was like, no.
- 4:24Speaker 2: And I left before the end of first quarter and
- 4:26Speaker 2: I was like, no. And I slept a little bit
- 4:29Speaker 2: a couple of years ago and I was like, no,
- 4:31Speaker 2: but now it's starting to creep back in being like,
- 4:33Speaker 2: I do kind of miss it. Just the camaraderie, the
- 4:36Speaker 2: day-to-day routine. I taught theater. So there was always something
- 4:40Speaker 2: different and fun to work on. But yeah, I think
- 4:44Speaker 2: I'm going to be fine because this summer I'm directing
- 4:47Speaker 2: a teen production at a local theater company.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Oh, fun.
- 4:51Speaker 2: We need to do their summer show, which is great
- 4:54Speaker 2: because then I can like do it for a couple
- 4:56Speaker 2: hours a day, but it's not like my full-time job.
- 4:59Speaker 2: So it's a nice little round.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah. What's the production of?
- 5:03Speaker 2: They haven't told me yet. So you don't get to pick?
- 5:08Speaker 2: We've got two really fun options. One, we can't tell
- 5:11Speaker 2: you about. We really hope we get it. It's hard
- 5:12Speaker 2: rights to get. But if we don't, we have a
- 5:14Speaker 2: great backup plan. And I'm just like, just tell me
- 5:16Speaker 2: the two options. I want to start planning. You're right.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I want something in my head at least.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:22Speaker 1: That's so funny. Um, uh, theater would be theater would
- 5:26Speaker 1: be fun to teach. I think if you, if you
- 5:28Speaker 1: teach something niche like that, like my daughter's very much
- 5:31Speaker 1: into music and she loves, loves, loves her band teacher
- 5:36Speaker 1: and her, you know, like her band friends and stuff
- 5:38Speaker 1: like that. And I think it's the same with theater.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Like that's something that kids really have passion for versus,
- 5:44Speaker 1: you know, math or social studies.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Definitely form a community in these like performing arts classes
- 5:52Speaker 2: because They have to rely on each other and work
- 5:55Speaker 2: together to accomplish things. So they definitely make stronger friendships there.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Right, yeah. And I've been super grateful that my daughter
- 6:02Speaker 1: has had that through high school because high school is
- 6:06Speaker 1: tough without that community.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I taught middle school for 10 years. So if
- 6:13Speaker 2: you got someone, you can get through. If you don't
- 6:15Speaker 2: have anyone, it's a long haul.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. um anything exciting coming up for comedy
- 6:23Speaker 1: other than obviously coming to laughs unlimited.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yes um yeah i've got a few like projects i'm
- 6:30Speaker 2: like okay like i need to work on either producing
- 6:33Speaker 2: a half hour or an hour special i just have
- 6:35Speaker 2: a lot of material that i haven't recorded in a
- 6:37Speaker 2: bit like i have two dry bar specials and i
- 6:40Speaker 2: have a special that's out on amazon prime but i'm
- 6:43Speaker 2: like i kind of like want to work on my
- 6:45Speaker 2: next project. So the next few months are kind of
- 6:47Speaker 2: figuring out what that project is, which is exciting. Cause
- 6:50Speaker 2: I'm like, it could be anything. And like a lot
- 6:54Speaker 2: of the stuff that I'll be performing in Sacramento is I,
- 6:57Speaker 2: I just was in Raleigh. I was at good nights
- 6:59Speaker 2: comedy club last week. And a lot of my newer stuff,
- 7:03Speaker 2: like my sister who lives there was like, I love
- 7:05Speaker 2: all your new stuff. Like I love this story.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:08Speaker 2: So I'm like, I have a lot of fun, exciting things.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I'm like, how do they all fit together? What direction
- 7:13Speaker 2: do I go? So, My exciting project is like, I
- 7:15Speaker 2: don't know what it is yet, which is like the
- 7:17Speaker 2: fun stage. It's like the musical, I don't know what
- 7:19Speaker 2: I'm directing. But I'm like, it's like once I figure
- 7:23Speaker 2: it out, then I can like start writing more bits
- 7:25Speaker 2: into that like frame of reference. Because my last special
- 7:28Speaker 2: is called Full-Time Quitter. And it's about, basically it's my
- 7:32Speaker 2: employment history, like all the jobs I've quit.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yes, okay.
- 7:37Speaker 2: There's a big teacher chunk, but there's also like all
- 7:39Speaker 2: my high school jobs, my college jobs, the jobs I've
- 7:41Speaker 2: had as a comedian, like I've had different day jobs.
- 7:44Speaker 2: And so it was just like an employment history. And
- 7:47Speaker 2: I realized after I'm like, I have like a good
- 7:49Speaker 2: 35 minutes about my resume. Let's, let's focus on making
- 7:54Speaker 2: that a thing. So it's kind of like, that's great.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah. That's a great idea. That's awesome. I love that.
- 8:02Speaker 1: What was it called again? Professional quitter.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Full-time quitter.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Full-time quitter. Yeah, no. I think everybody has to go
- 8:10Speaker 1: through that in life, though, so that's very, very relevant.
- 8:13Speaker 1: That's very... We've all had to figure out what we
- 8:16Speaker 1: wanted to be.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, like, it's like, as, like, no, I'm a clown.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm a storyteller, but, yeah, as it, like,
- 8:26Speaker 2: took shape, it was really fun to be, like, I
- 8:28Speaker 2: need to link these two together. How do I, Oh,
- 8:30Speaker 2: I can write a call back here. And like, that's
- 8:32Speaker 2: fun for me. Like I like writing jokes. I like
- 8:35Speaker 2: writing a show.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah. That makes sense. That makes sense.
- 8:40Speaker 2: So excited.
- 8:42Speaker 1: That's very cool. Well, we talked a little bit. You
- 8:46Speaker 1: have a relation to trivia. Can you talk to him? Yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I was recruited for a trivia game show that never
- 8:54Speaker 2: ended up seeing the light of day. So I, was
- 8:57Speaker 2: tested once a week on my trivia. Like the casting
- 9:00Speaker 2: producer would call me and I would do so bad.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I don't think I ever got above 50%.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I wonder why they kept calling though. They were like,
- 9:08Speaker 1: we really like you, but.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I think it's my shimmering painting personality.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:14Speaker 2: You gotta be.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Better at knowing something though. Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 2: But like part of the game was like, you bet
- 9:20Speaker 2: on how much you would know.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 2: So like if you bet that you wouldn't know a
- 9:25Speaker 2: lot in this category and you were right, you got
- 9:27Speaker 2: X number of points. I never actually, the game never
- 9:30Speaker 2: actually got on its legs, but how they were explaining
- 9:33Speaker 2: it to me was that it's like, you don't have
- 9:35Speaker 2: to be good at trivia. You have to be good
- 9:36Speaker 2: at knowing yourself. And I was like, well, I know
- 9:38Speaker 2: myself very well.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I would bet against, I think that would be hard though,
- 9:43Speaker 1: because what if you bet against yourself? You're like, but
- 9:46Speaker 1: I bet, I don't know. And then you really didn't know.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Would you just take it and be like, well, I,
- 9:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:52Speaker 2: No, because then I would be proud about myself. I
- 9:55Speaker 2: actually got 10 of these right. I'm so proud of myself,
- 9:58Speaker 2: even though it means I lost the game.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Right. you have negative 500 points though you're like yeah
- 10:03Speaker 1: i know but i knew something it's fun yeah well
- 10:08Speaker 1: uh you know not to bring back any ptsd moments
- 10:12Speaker 1: but do you want to try some.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Trivia Let's go! The goal is 50%. I don't know
- 10:17Speaker 2: how many questions there are, but that's my goal.
- 10:19Speaker 1: There are 10 questions, and they are of a variety
- 10:23Speaker 1: of topics, so 5 out of 10 won't be bad.
- 10:27Speaker 1: And there is at the end, the last question, you
- 10:31Speaker 1: can wager however many points you have if you want.
- 10:34Speaker 1: So there is still that little final gem for this situation.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Will there be a category? The final question is about
- 10:47Speaker 2: I don't want to break the rules for me.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I can give you a category. I don't really think
- 10:54Speaker 1: there are rules. I think we make it up as
- 10:55Speaker 1: we go.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:00Speaker 1: All right. Ready.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Question one.
- 11:03Speaker 1: What does the SWV stand for in the 90s R
- 11:08Speaker 1: & B girl group?
- 11:15Speaker 2: My first thought is sex, want, and attraction.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Well, that's S-W-A, but.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Well, what did you say?
- 11:24Speaker 1: S-W-V. V, nevermind, vehicle.
- 11:28Speaker 2: That's what I meant.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Sex with vehicles. No, that's not it either. Okay. All right,
- 11:38Speaker 1: it's sisters with voices.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, not even close.
- 11:45Speaker 1: All I wanted to do was start singing it, but
- 11:47Speaker 1: I'm not singing one of their songs, but I am
- 11:49Speaker 1: not going to embarrass myself on this podcast today.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Do it. Do it.
- 11:54Speaker 1: No. I don't know what it is that you've done
- 12:00Speaker 1: to me. Yes. Shush it, Carlos. He's such a bad influence.
- 12:07Speaker 2: All right.
- 12:10Speaker 1: All right, Whitney Houston went to the top of the
- 12:13Speaker 1: music charts in 1992 with which Dolly Parton song? Oh, no.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And I will not sing this one.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I don't know if this is right. I Will Always
- 12:28Speaker 2: Love You. You said Whitney Houston. That's the first thing
- 12:30Speaker 2: that came to my mind. Am I right? That's the one, yes.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I just think it's good. And I.
- 12:38Speaker 2: That's what I remember.
- 12:41Speaker 1: If I'm not going to sing it, he'll sing it.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I love this. I hope they're all song questions now. Oh, look.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Another one. Okay. Before embarking on a solo career, Beyonce
- 12:54Speaker 1: was a part of what R & B group?
- 12:57Speaker 2: Destiny's Child.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:01Speaker 2: All right.
- 13:02Speaker 1: See?
- 13:02Speaker 2: I would have to return my gay card if I
- 13:04Speaker 2: didn't know that. They would kick me out.
- 13:08Speaker 1: You're already two to one. You're winning. Okay, I think
- 13:13Speaker 1: we're out of the music category now. What is California's
- 13:18Speaker 1: state animal?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Oh, is it a golden bear?
- 13:24Speaker 1: I'll take that, sure. It's a grizzly bear, but it's
- 13:27Speaker 1: a bear, all right.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I was thinking of Cal University. They're the golden bears.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I didn't know if that was like homage.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Right, right, right, right. Well, I mean, I think it's
- 13:35Speaker 1: golden on the flag is... what it is. So yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 1: it makes sense. So I'm going to.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Give it to you.
- 13:41Speaker 1: See, three to one, you're already winning. 75%.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:45Speaker 1: All right. How often are the Summer Olympics held?
- 13:51Speaker 2: Oh, every four years.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yes. You're almost to your goal. We could just quit
- 13:58Speaker 1: while we're ahead.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 14:01Speaker 1: The Hollywood sign originally spelled out what word?
- 14:08Speaker 2: Oh, it was Hollywood Land.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Ryan, where is that producer now? That's what we need
- 14:17Speaker 1: to know. Ryan knows his stuff. Okay. This actor notably
- 14:25Speaker 1: starred in the TV sitcoms How I Met Your Mother
- 14:28Speaker 1: and Doogie Howser, M.D.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Neil Patrick Harris.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I was going to say, you might lose your gay
- 14:35Speaker 1: card on that one, too.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I don't know. I was like... David Burka's husband is....
- 14:43Speaker 1: I'm not in charge of handing out or taking away
- 14:45Speaker 1: gay cards, but that just seemed like one.
- 14:48Speaker 2: You'll write a stern letter to the committee.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yes, right, right, right. It'll be like, he did not know.
- 14:55Speaker 1: All right. After Jim Carrey first made a name for
- 14:58Speaker 1: himself on what Kenan Ivory Wayans sketch comedy show? Oh, God.
- 15:08Speaker 2: In Living Color?
- 15:09Speaker 1: We can do what we wanna do. In Living Color.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I was like, I couldn't decide if it had In
- 15:17Speaker 2: Living Color or if it was just called Living Color.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Is it In Living Color?
- 15:19Speaker 1: It's In Living Color. Yeah, you got it right.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I wanna get it right.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Yes, yes. Look, now you just have extra points to
- 15:27Speaker 1: wager at the end. That's what this is. Yes. Yes. Okay,
- 15:33Speaker 1: what do you call a group of porcupines?
- 15:43Speaker 2: Let's go with a barrel.
- 15:49Speaker 1: It is called a prickle.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Oh, that's smart. That's really smart. I don't even know
- 15:57Speaker 2: if it's real. I was trying to think of something.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It seems too cute to be real. Like, is that
- 16:03Speaker 1: really it? We would have to.
- 16:05Speaker 2: It's like a flamboyance of flamingos is great.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And a crash of rhinos. Mm-hmm.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Which also is great. But yeah, Prickle of Portugal.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But what's the plural of moose? Have we ever figured
- 16:19Speaker 1: this out?
- 16:22Speaker 2: Moosen. The iconic Brian Regan bit.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Isn't that the... What's the plural of moose? Is it
- 16:30Speaker 1: mooses or meese? Meese? Never mind.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It's just such a strange word, meese.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Right. Well, because... the plural of goose is geese. So
- 16:45Speaker 1: the plural of moose should be meese.
- 16:49Speaker 2: But you know, the English language doesn't make any sense.
- 16:52Speaker 1: That is correct. That's why we didn't teach English. That's
- 16:54Speaker 1: why we shot theater. Yes. Okay.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yes. English is actually the subject I taught for a
- 17:00Speaker 2: few weeks before I quit. Oh, you're creative background. You
- 17:04Speaker 2: like have a lot of fun, like making, and I
- 17:06Speaker 2: was like, great. And then I show up in there.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Here's the district prescribed curriculum. And here's the day by
- 17:10Speaker 2: day lesson plan. I was like, Oh, where's the creativity
- 17:13Speaker 2: I was promised? So, yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Well, it's called English. You're creative every day, but creative
- 17:20Speaker 1: in the way of whoever made it creative in the
- 17:22Speaker 1: first place, which isn't creative at all. It's just a
- 17:24Speaker 1: little scary. Yeah. Okay, question number 10. It is a
- 17:32Speaker 1: sports question.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Great.
- 17:35Speaker 1: How many points would you like to wager?
- 17:40Speaker 2: If it's about Three different sports I'll fail miserably, but
- 17:46Speaker 2: if it's about the rest, I should be fine. Let's
- 17:49Speaker 2: risk it for the biscuit. Let's go six.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Oh, okay. All right. What number does every major league
- 17:59Speaker 1: baseball player wear on April 15th? My goodness.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Is it.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I mean, this seems so obvious. Is it 15?
- 18:22Speaker 1: No.
- 18:23Speaker 2: It's going to be 23, isn't it?
- 18:25Speaker 1: No, it's 42. Jackie Robinson's number.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Okay, 45 was going to be my third guess. Oh,
- 18:31Speaker 2: is it Jackie Robinson's number? And that's Jackie Robinson's name.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Shoot.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's okay. I had no idea. And how confusing
- 18:43Speaker 1: does that get on... for scorekeepers on that day.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I'm just curious. Yeah, no, dang it. My three guesses
- 18:51Speaker 2: were gonna be, I was like 15, 23, and 45.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I don't know where 45 came from, but I was like,
- 18:56Speaker 2: I was like, maybe it's Babe Ruth, maybe it's something else.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And then when you said 42, I'm like, that's Jackie
- 19:00Speaker 2: Robinson's number. Dang it.
- 19:02Speaker 1: So what's 23?
- 19:04Speaker 2: Wasn't that Babe Ruth's number?
- 19:06Speaker 1: I don't know. I think it's Michael Jordan's number, but.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I knew it was Michael Jordan.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Is it Babe Ruth's number, Carlos? Is that significant?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Checking on it now, right now.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I figured, I guess I see you both Googling.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Just three. Nope, then 23 was Michael Jordan.
- 19:25Speaker 1: It's just three. Well, I was like, he did play
- 19:30Speaker 1: baseball for a minute, so.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I watched the last dance. You know a bit about sports,
- 19:37Speaker 2: but that, dang it.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I watched The Last Dance, the Michael Jordan documentary
- 19:45Speaker 1: about the last season with the Bulls, and it was
- 19:47Speaker 1: pretty interesting. but it wasn't significant to baseball. So I
- 19:52Speaker 1: was like, I don't know that all of MLB would
- 19:55Speaker 1: change a number for a day for him.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Is that where the and I took that personally meme
- 20:02Speaker 2: comes from? And I took that personally. He's sitting in
- 20:06Speaker 2: the interview chair.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, probably.
- 20:09Speaker 2: From a documentary? Yeah, probably. I've seen clips of the documentary,
- 20:13Speaker 2: but I haven't watched the full thing.
- 20:15Speaker 1: It's actually really interesting because it was like, you know,
- 20:18Speaker 1: they fired Phil Jackson and Michael was like, I'm not
- 20:21Speaker 1: playing for anybody else other than Phil Jackson. And then
- 20:24Speaker 1: they'd won all these championships. And now I'm not even
- 20:28Speaker 1: a sports person, but for whatever reason, I love sports documentaries. Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 2: You love learning. You're a lifelong student, Jenny. Well, that's true.
- 20:39Speaker 1: As long as I don't have to do it in
- 20:40Speaker 1: a group setting. That's really why I stopped going to college.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I mean, I just ended at AA. I was like, yeah,
- 20:47Speaker 1: three AA is enough. I don't need any more. Because
- 20:50Speaker 1: I'm really tired of being in a class with other people.
- 20:56Speaker 2: What degree could you get just a one-on-one class all
- 20:58Speaker 2: the way through?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's... we won't date myself, but it was
- 21:03Speaker 1: back in the day. I was like, Oh, I'll just
- 21:04Speaker 1: do school online. Cause then I can just at my
- 21:08Speaker 1: own pace. And as soon as I looked it up,
- 21:10Speaker 1: they were like, Oh, and you have to do group sessions.
- 21:13Speaker 1: And I was like, well, that's exactly what I'm trying
- 21:16Speaker 1: to get away from.
- 21:18Speaker 2: On canvas.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Right. Right. Right. I don't want to, I don't want
- 21:26Speaker 1: to read their papers for the teacher to let the
- 21:28Speaker 1: teacher read these things, papers themselves. What was that, Carlos?
- 21:31Speaker 2: I was going to say, I love the fact that
- 21:34Speaker 2: we had a bear question and his shirt is amazing. Ryan,
- 21:38Speaker 2: I love it.
- 21:42Speaker 1: He is just a big California bear right now, right?
- 21:48Speaker 2: I have so many fun shirts and I'm buying a
- 21:51Speaker 2: few more. So hopefully they come in time before Sacramento.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Now, where do you get them from? Just all over
- 21:57Speaker 1: or is there a specific place?
- 21:59Speaker 2: There's a site that I have many shirts from. A
- 22:03Speaker 2: lot of it is like, my friends will be like,
- 22:05Speaker 2: I found this on, you know, Timu or like whatever.
- 22:08Speaker 2: But this shirt, along with many of my others, is
- 22:11Speaker 2: from a site called harddaddy.com and they sell shirts. Yes, yes, yes.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Oh my God, do you know that it's so funny?
- 22:26Speaker 1: I was going to guess Bear Daddy, but....
- 22:30Speaker 2: No, my duck shirt, this, and then I have like
- 22:34Speaker 2: three others or whatever. My duck shirt is one of
- 22:36Speaker 2: the ones that's on my Amazon Prime special, but they're
- 22:38Speaker 2: from harddaddy.com. All right. We're all right.
- 22:42Speaker 1: We're going to have to check that out.
- 22:43Speaker 2: I always tell them like, don't look it up on
- 22:44Speaker 2: your work computer. Just look it up on your phone.
- 22:49Speaker 2: That's literally the tag. Let me, I don't know if
- 22:53Speaker 2: it'll flop out.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I was going to say, now he's going to.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Strip on the camera. I don't even know if we
- 22:57Speaker 2: can see it from here. Yes. Oh, yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 1: That's so funny.
- 23:04Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I know where to get every gift for any guy
- 23:08Speaker 1: I know. I'm going to that website.
- 23:10Speaker 2: It's over. What are you getting me for Christmas? Something
- 23:14Speaker 2: from harddaddy.com.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yep, exactly. Sorry, Carlos. I know your birthday just passed,
- 23:20Speaker 1: but next year.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I'm ready.
- 23:25Speaker 1: You can have a bear shirt just like this.
- 23:28Speaker 2: That's on the website.
- 23:31Speaker 1: So let's see you're coming up here in what less than.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Two weeks you'll be here April 24th 25th yeah 24.
- 23:40Speaker 1: 25 yes I'm very excited it's gonna be fun hopefully
- 23:43Speaker 1: it's not monsoon rain here anymore because we've been having
- 23:46Speaker 1: some thunderstorms but.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Oh have you been having lots of rain.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yes only for a few days in California lots of
- 23:53Speaker 1: rain is one day of rain and that's like oh
- 23:56Speaker 1: it's so much.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I was in, when I was in Raleigh, apparently it
- 24:05Speaker 2: snowed here in Utah while I was gone.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Oh.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Like the mountains, like I was like, oh, and I
- 24:12Speaker 2: left the mountains and have snow and they did when
- 24:13Speaker 2: I came back. That's crazy.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I wouldn't have thought of Utah as being a lot
- 24:17Speaker 1: of snow, but yeah, it does. There's a major snow
- 24:21Speaker 1: place in Utah that I can't think of right now
- 24:24Speaker 1: that I've visited. Where they had the Olympics.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Was it Park City, Snowbird, Solitude, Alta, yeah.
- 24:31Speaker 1: You're like, we have all the places. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:35Speaker 2: I mean, we hosted the Olympics and we're set to
- 24:36Speaker 2: host them again in 2034. Oh, how exciting.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Okay, something to look forward to.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but we're worried about the water and snowpack because
- 24:45Speaker 2: this was the driest summer we've ever had with the
- 24:48Speaker 2: least amount of snow.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Oh, really? Welcome to California. That's what we do.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Well, hopefully we don't have to worry about any of
- 24:57Speaker 1: those problems. That's why we have comedy because we just
- 24:59Speaker 1: make jokes and not worry about the future. Yeah.
- 25:03Speaker 2: And I'm excited. I actually know one of my openers, Ritu. Oh, yeah.
- 25:08Speaker 2: She is friends with Amber Autry. And I've known Amber
- 25:11Speaker 2: for years. And when Amber was here in Utah, I
- 25:14Speaker 2: picked her and Ritu up from the airport and we
- 25:16Speaker 2: went out to lunch together. when then I dropped them
- 25:18Speaker 2: off at their hotel before their show. So I was like,
- 25:21Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, we know each other.
- 25:22Speaker 1: That's how I met her was she was the opener
- 25:26Speaker 1: for Amber here. Yeah. And so I was like, Oh,
- 25:30Speaker 1: I actually, I really love you. So I brought her
- 25:33Speaker 1: back and I was so awesome. Yeah.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I love it when we, when we fall into a
- 25:38Speaker 1: good plan.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Yeah. We have great taste in comedy.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Right. There you go. Perfect. Well, very excited. We'll see
- 25:49Speaker 1: you in like 10 days.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm excited. Thank you for having me.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Of course. Thank you for taking the time.
- 25:55Speaker 2: We're going to have so much fun and I have,
- 25:59Speaker 2: I'm restocked on stickers.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Oh, perfect. Yes.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I will have plenty for everybody.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Oh, good, good, good. Don't run out this time.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Last year was at the end of my run and
- 26:10Speaker 2: I was like, I'm out. I'm so sorry.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I know, but you were so sweet. You mailed a
- 26:14Speaker 1: bunch of them to us.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Oh, they came to you?
- 26:16Speaker 1: Great.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. My post office when I lived
- 26:22Speaker 2: in New York City, I just got my roommate stuff
- 26:24Speaker 2: that she mailed me back in March of my W-9s.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's stamped the day she went to the post office
- 26:31Speaker 2: and I got it four weeks later. I just send
- 26:36Speaker 2: stuff off in the mail and just hope it gets there.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's how the mail goes now. It
- 26:40Speaker 1: is what it is. Good luck. Well, very cool. See
- 26:45Speaker 1: you in a few days. Awesome.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Thank you so much for having me.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Thanks, Ryan.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Bye.
