- 0:00Speaker 1: Now I was scolded when I got back from Hawaii. Yes,
- 0:04Speaker 1: because I was at a grocery store and I saw
- 0:07Speaker 1: a can of Macadamian nuts that were spam flavored, and,
- 0:12Speaker 1: like I thought we were supposed to do these days,
- 0:15Speaker 1: I just took a picture of it and sent it
- 0:19Speaker 1: and brought it to work to show you guys.
- 0:21Speaker 2: But you guys were mad. I didn't.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Well, yeah, well, I mean a photo of something that's
- 0:26Speaker 3: edible is not really.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Yeah, you know you need to taste it.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So I ordered from the Hamakua Macadamian Nut Company in Hawaii.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I ordered you each your own private pouch of spam
- 0:44Speaker 1: flavored Macadamian nuts.
- 0:46Speaker 4: There.
- 0:46Speaker 3: They are right there, and it sort of got the
- 0:50Speaker 3: spam logo on it. Now, Hawaiians love spam. I love spam.
- 0:56Speaker 5: I do.
- 0:56Speaker 3: There's a can of spam in my cupboard, and I'm
- 0:59Speaker 3: not sure who bought it and how long it's been there,
- 1:02Speaker 3: but by god, I'm gonna eat it. It's there in
- 1:04Speaker 3: case you need it, uh so so and then and then,
- 1:08Speaker 3: of course, Macadamian nuts is traditionally delicious.
- 1:11Speaker 1: See I thought it sounded horrible, but you both were like, no,
- 1:15Speaker 1: that sounds great.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I would like to try that.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah, well again, Gina, you don't know until you try it, right.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You'll notice I didn't buy myself a pouch of spam
- 1:27Speaker 1: flavored Macadamian nuts.
- 1:29Speaker 4: They're just nuts because Gina has no sense of adventure.
- 1:34Speaker 2: When they smell spammy food or anything.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Else, they don't really sell smell spammy, not really good.
- 1:42Speaker 4: I'm not strong enough to open these packages anymore. Do
- 1:45Speaker 4: you want me to get it? Let's see, you.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Have spam dust on your hands now, m m.
- 1:54Speaker 5: I'm not getting a lot of spam flavor.
- 1:56Speaker 2: No, they're not spammy enough. Is that what you're saying.
- 2:01Speaker 4: I don't think they're spammy at all.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Yeah. There, it just tastes kind us healty.
- 2:07Speaker 4: You're dissplanded.
- 2:09Speaker 2: You're disappointed in the spam.
- 2:12Speaker 5: I am macadamia nuts.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I mean the Macadamian nuts.
- 2:18Speaker 5: Or you can never go wrong there?
- 2:20Speaker 4: No, not my favorite nut.
- 2:24Speaker 2: What's your favorite nut?
- 2:28Speaker 4: I really like brazil nuts.
- 2:31Speaker 5: It's in my top five favorite nuts.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Mmm.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So, So the verdict is, know I went to all
- 2:40Speaker 1: the trouble of ordering well am shipped.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Now we know.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Now the next time I go and don't bring you
- 2:49Speaker 1: some back. You won't be sad.
- 2:51Speaker 5: No, well, because we tried to.
- 2:53Speaker 4: We know it's that's healthy.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Work's okay, thank you, thank you for the nuts.
- 3:01Speaker 6: Exter says, I used to eat spam with peanut butter
- 3:04Speaker 6: when I was pregnant.
- 3:05Speaker 4: That's horrible. No, it doesn't.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I've had, you know, I had spam and bacon sandwiches
- 3:10Speaker 3: and those are good.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So the reason spam is so popular in Hawaii because
- 3:14Speaker 1: it was a canned.
- 3:16Speaker 3: No, it's no, it's because it tastes most because it
- 3:19Speaker 3: because they were cannibals originally, and it's almost thing that
- 3:22Speaker 3: human flesh. That's that's really what people have said for years. Yeah,
- 3:27Speaker 3: they like spam because because it's to the cannibal, but
- 3:33Speaker 3: it's not true. Especially during World War Two. Yeah, they
- 3:36Speaker 3: couldn't get fresh meat at all.
- 3:38Speaker 2: So it's interesting.
- 3:39Speaker 1: So I told you I went to that cattle ranch
- 3:42Speaker 1: on the Big Island, one of the biggest cattle ranches
- 3:45Speaker 1: in the country, not just in Hawaii, in the country,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and the cattle were first brought there as a gift
- 3:53Speaker 1: for King Kamehameha, who treated them kind of like you
- 3:58Speaker 1: treat them in India.
- 4:00Speaker 4: He didn't he didn't eat them because they were eating people.
- 4:03Speaker 1: The cattle said no, the uh the cattle or sacred,
- 4:10Speaker 1: don't eat them. But eventually somebody said, you know, these
- 4:14Speaker 1: are really delicious and you should try. So they have
- 4:17Speaker 1: this huge cattle wrench there, but no processing facility on
- 4:22Speaker 1: the Big Island at all.
- 4:24Speaker 5: So noat process, no meat process.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So every every one of those animals has to be
- 4:30Speaker 1: put on a ship and taken somewhere like California. They
- 4:37Speaker 1: have a processing facility in Maui, but I guess it's
- 4:41Speaker 1: not that big of a place.
- 4:43Speaker 2: So you want no? No?
- 4:46Speaker 5: Why not not even one?
- 4:48Speaker 4: Why not?
- 4:50Speaker 3: Do you like maceadamia nuts? Well, they just taste like
- 4:54Speaker 3: macedamia nuts. I just no, I don't want to try it.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It's a spam on it hm.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I just tastes like salty nouts.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Do you ever eat spam?
