- 0:09Speaker 2: Welcome to this very special episode.
- 0:12Speaker 1: So you can see we have another third amigo here,
- 0:14Speaker 1: but he is a third alle. He is the executive
- 0:18Speaker 1: producer of the podcast as well as the head of
- 0:23Speaker 1: WV Sounds WV Sound which happens to be the podcast
- 0:27Speaker 1: division of our company as well.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So thank you, Leo Clam, Leo Clam in the house.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Thank you for your tire of this work.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Thank you for making this possible for not only just us,
- 0:38Speaker 1: but also for more better and you know Da and
- 0:43Speaker 1: you know a bunch of other podcasts that you've been
- 0:45Speaker 1: working on.
- 0:45Speaker 2: So we were very grateful for your work and for
- 0:48Speaker 2: everybody behind the scenes too.
- 0:49Speaker 3: You left out one descriptor a friend.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Oh yes, yes he is a friend. You're actually a
- 0:56Speaker 1: brother to me. And you had a really fun idea.
- 1:00Speaker 1: We had forty amazing episodes where in these such episodes
- 1:05Speaker 1: we have explored not only our friendship, not only our careers,
- 1:08Speaker 1: our past, our families. We'll also opened the door for
- 1:11Speaker 1: a third amigo or amiga at times, and they have
- 1:16Speaker 1: given us invaluable memories and moments so that those Amigos
- 1:21Speaker 1: Podcast is doing a very special episode to pay tribute
- 1:24Speaker 1: to those who have made the trip over and sat
- 1:27Speaker 1: down with us and have some great conversations.
- 1:29Speaker 2: But a lot of great memories, right, that's right, a.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Lot of great memories, a lot of great guests, a
- 1:33Speaker 4: lot of great conversations. Some were more energetic than others, right,
- 1:39Speaker 4: Some were more insightful, some were And so I think
- 1:43Speaker 4: we're sort of exploring unexpected confessions. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so
- 1:48Speaker 4: we're exploring the different varieties of conversations.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 1: So in this final big segment of those Amigos, you
- 1:56Speaker 1: had a great idea, you want to explain it?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah, drum roll please, Editor or Wilmer and Freddy and
- 2:04Speaker 3: Ryan and Aaron to me GOO Awards.
- 2:11Speaker 1: This is a look back at all our departments and
- 2:14Speaker 1: the anecdotes and where we what was left here in
- 2:19Speaker 1: the studio.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm going to mention different categories and each
- 2:23Speaker 3: of you are going to tell me what is you know,
- 2:26Speaker 3: a moment or an individual with third amigo that comes
- 2:29Speaker 3: to mind for that specific category. Okay, we threw in
- 2:33Speaker 3: a bunch of different categories that are kind of all
- 2:36Speaker 3: over the place, because you know, we had so many
- 2:38Speaker 3: different guests to speak to, friends, family, people we barely know.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I so excited to dive in with y'all.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Awesome. So the first one is its most energetic.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Guests, most energetic guests, So okay, yeah, who comes to
- 2:54Speaker 3: mind that? Like that energy was so high that it
- 2:57Speaker 3: kind of brought everyone.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Had a very different level of energy. They're all enthusiastic
- 3:03Speaker 1: and all stuff. But I think I don't know one
- 3:04Speaker 1: comes to mind for me?
- 3:06Speaker 5: Who's that?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Melissa Ah, Melissa Fromaro, Yeah, Melissa Fromaro or Terry Cruz right,
- 3:12Speaker 1: they were.
- 3:13Speaker 4: They were very energetic and and gave us a lot
- 3:16Speaker 4: to play off of.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But yeah, I would I personally named Melissa Fromato because
- 3:21Speaker 1: she came here.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, she did her Shimi dance. You know, she had
- 3:25Speaker 2: a lot of energy.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Telling her stories, and she was also very vulnerable, very
- 3:29Speaker 1: open with everything she was talking about. I think that,
- 3:31Speaker 1: you know, she brought such likeness and charm to it,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and she's just a beautiful person.
- 3:36Speaker 5: She is agreed all right.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And with Terry, I feel like he brought so much
- 3:41Speaker 3: table I didn't even know about, and so like that
- 3:45Speaker 3: conversation was all over place because we were learning. I
- 3:47Speaker 3: was learning so much.
- 3:48Speaker 2: From But that's not energetic. That's where a different category.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I'm jumping category. Let's go to the next. Biggest laugh. Oh,
- 3:55Speaker 3: the biggest laugh, biggest laugh? Who comes to mind?
- 3:58Speaker 2: What do you think? For you?
- 4:00Speaker 4: I have to say to Yeah, I mean, he's he's
- 4:03Speaker 4: that that dude that sometimes I think like he doesn't
- 4:06Speaker 4: realize how naturally.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Funny he is.
- 4:09Speaker 2: He's so dry and sarcastic and also so creative. He's
- 4:12Speaker 2: a really talented dude. But yeah, I would say toll
- 4:15Speaker 2: for too.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I give him tofer because that dude just knows how
- 4:18Speaker 1: to make me laugh. And and actually in that conversation,
- 4:21Speaker 1: he you know, he really surprised me with a lot
- 4:23Speaker 1: of his uh thoughts about me. And you know, we
- 4:26Speaker 1: we in this podcast gave us in his keys to
- 4:28Speaker 1: say the things we would never have the courage to
- 4:30Speaker 1: say to each other.
- 4:31Speaker 2: When we're alone in the dinner, you know.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So it was it was kind of a nice to
- 4:35Speaker 1: to see myself through his eyes and and vice a verse.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I hope it was nice for him too. But but yeah,
- 4:40Speaker 2: he was hilarious.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And I think that the feedback from all of you
- 4:42Speaker 1: at home is that you know that that was one
- 4:46Speaker 1: of the funniest episodes we've had.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Yeah, funny and for me endearing to to see you
- 4:52Speaker 5: two together.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Oh cool, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Just kind of seeing your history together. I can just
- 4:57Speaker 4: see it in both of your eyes, and it was
- 5:00Speaker 4: really wonderful to see you too.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Yes, moving on most unexpected confession.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Oh interesting.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I don't know if it's a confession as much as
- 5:14Speaker 1: it is like I would say, I don't know. I
- 5:19Speaker 1: think Terry Cruz had such insight and such personal storytelling,
- 5:25Speaker 1: Like you know, he he was born enough to be,
- 5:29Speaker 1: you know, to be emotional with us, and it made
- 5:31Speaker 1: us really live and put on his shoes for a
- 5:34Speaker 1: minute and tell us some of his darkest moments. And
- 5:39Speaker 1: it also allowed us to kind of feel the sunshine
- 5:42Speaker 1: as it entered his story and his life. So I
- 5:44Speaker 1: think for me, I think that was unexpected confessions of
- 5:49Speaker 1: his past and where he was in his life. I
- 5:51Speaker 1: know that he's been candid with it in other interviews,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but I think it felt like because of you and
- 5:56Speaker 1: your connection with Terry and the familiarity that we all
- 5:59Speaker 1: have with him, you know, he was really allowing your
- 6:02Speaker 1: himself to be an extra level of vulnerable with the stories.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I felt with Terry. He had such a
- 6:09Speaker 4: specific journey and it was wonderful for him to share
- 6:13Speaker 4: even those those parts of your journey that some people
- 6:16Speaker 4: may find embarrassing or or may find private, and he
- 6:21Speaker 4: was very open about it.
- 6:22Speaker 5: And I think that that not.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Only was that wonderful for us, but other people who
- 6:27Speaker 4: are going through the same journey and the same struggles.
- 6:29Speaker 4: It definitely was information that somebody could could listen to
- 6:34Speaker 4: and and and could apply to their own lives as well.
- 6:37Speaker 1: The big I guess the biggest confession also would have
- 6:40Speaker 1: come from you when you admitted that you had leather pants.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I think that that's when we really dropped the mic.
- 6:47Speaker 2: And yes, fun intended. You know, You're like, I don't
- 6:50Speaker 2: know if I were them.
- 6:51Speaker 4: You know.
- 6:52Speaker 1: By the way, for all you guys at home, maybe
- 6:55Speaker 1: two days later, I got a picture from Freddy wearing
- 6:58Speaker 1: leather pants.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Uh, let you guys do your own research, but look
- 7:03Speaker 2: out me.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Yeah, he outed me, you're out of yourself on the way.
- 7:08Speaker 5: I was like, I know a lot of those, dude.
- 7:11Speaker 5: I went home and I was like, did I wear
- 7:12Speaker 5: another pants? I looked it up and I was like, damn,
- 7:15Speaker 5: I did wear pants?
- 7:16Speaker 2: Alright, We're all right.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Uh, deepest moment, most heartfelt moment.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Hm hmm. I mean, I guess what would it be
- 7:27Speaker 2: for you? Let's go with you first.
- 7:30Speaker 4: I know I kind of said this earlier, but it was, uh,
- 7:35Speaker 4: you know, it was just I found your in toe.
- 7:38Speaker 5: For his relationship to be really deep, and I love that.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Here we are twenty something years later and you still
- 7:44Speaker 4: have that sort of same relationship.
- 7:47Speaker 5: There was so much that was said.
- 7:49Speaker 4: I mean, was there anything in there as you as
- 7:52Speaker 4: you just said, Man, we said things on this podcast
- 7:54Speaker 4: that we would probably not say to each other, Like,
- 7:56Speaker 4: was there anything that he had said to you in
- 7:58Speaker 4: the podcast that that struck.
- 8:00Speaker 5: You as really deep? It's something that he wouldn't say
- 8:02Speaker 5: to you normally.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Yeah, he said that that day.
- 8:05Speaker 1: He said something in the in the in the in
- 8:08Speaker 1: the form of that I somehow had, you know, a
- 8:12Speaker 1: contribution into his discovery of how to have fun, how
- 8:17Speaker 1: to allow yourself to have fun and not take everything
- 8:20Speaker 1: that was happening to us, which was a lot, you know,
- 8:23Speaker 1: for our age, and not look at it scary or
- 8:28Speaker 1: influential or or or any other way that somehow would
- 8:33Speaker 1: trade you away from the simplicity of just like enjoy
- 8:36Speaker 1: right now, and and we both kind of embraced that.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I think that was there was I think probably one
- 8:42Speaker 1: of the most the things that kind of you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: comes to mind. I would say also, I think, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 1: I think that you and I have been very vulnerable
- 8:54Speaker 1: with each other, and the conversations were allowed to kind
- 8:57Speaker 1: of tap into some of our deepest you know, if
- 9:00Speaker 1: it is not insecurity, it's it's like those dark moments
- 9:03Speaker 1: where you're like, Okay, what happens next, you know, and
- 9:06Speaker 1: uh new sharing starting a family that really in your life,
- 9:10Speaker 1: you know, that was also something I think that was
- 9:12Speaker 1: really deep for me.
- 9:12Speaker 2: So I would probably nominate you and and probably to
- 9:15Speaker 2: for for that.
- 9:19Speaker 3: How about the quote of the season.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Also, I guess for me.
- 9:26Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, you know, lou you know Lewis Howell's right,
- 9:30Speaker 4: is that how you pronounce the name Lewis House. I
- 9:33Speaker 4: got to be honest, man, Like, he had a profound
- 9:35Speaker 4: effect on me. There was a lot that he said
- 9:37Speaker 4: that that really stayed with me.
- 9:40Speaker 5: I really loved how.
- 9:42Speaker 4: When I asked him what motivated him to start doing
- 9:46Speaker 4: what he was doing, and he said that it was
- 9:48Speaker 4: this journey to heal that that that started him on
- 9:53Speaker 4: this journey to become the public speaker in the in
- 9:56Speaker 4: the public persona that he is, and how and how
- 10:00Speaker 4: healing is at the foundation of everything that that he
- 10:04Speaker 4: talks about, right, and when he talks about success, when
- 10:06Speaker 4: he talks about anything, starting a business, what have you,
- 10:10Speaker 4: he talks about the importance of healing first so that
- 10:12Speaker 4: you have a solid foundation. And he gave this analogy
- 10:15Speaker 4: about about squeezing when when when someone is squeezed in
- 10:20Speaker 4: a in a stressful situation, whatever is in you is
- 10:24Speaker 4: what's going to come out. That's why it's important to
- 10:26Speaker 4: heal what's inside, right. It's like it's like when you
- 10:29Speaker 4: when you when you squeeze an orange, orange juice comes
- 10:32Speaker 4: out right. When you squeeze a grapefruit, grapefruit juice comes
- 10:34Speaker 4: out right, and and so whatever's in you is what's
- 10:37Speaker 4: going to come out, and so it's important.
- 10:39Speaker 5: To heal you.
- 10:41Speaker 1: H I think that that episode personally was also impact
- 10:44Speaker 1: for for me because you know, he said something that
- 10:47Speaker 1: I was like, don't cheat me of treating you.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I remember that.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I was like, what, he goes, let me pay for
- 10:55Speaker 1: your dinner. I want to do that for you, you know,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and and that that kind of stayed with me in
- 11:01Speaker 1: many levels because you know, I always want to pick
- 11:03Speaker 1: up the check. I wanna do that, and he goes, well,
- 11:05Speaker 1: that's how selfish are you to not let me also
- 11:09Speaker 1: give you that, you know, And I never heard it
- 11:12Speaker 1: that way before, because it's it's it's uncomfortable for some
- 11:14Speaker 1: of us to.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Not take the lead and be like, it's uncomfortable to
- 11:17Speaker 2: ask people to play the check. So I'm just gonna
- 11:19Speaker 2: pay the whole thing, you know what I mean.
- 11:21Speaker 1: So so that was you know, I'm grateful for him
- 11:23Speaker 1: and that, and since then, I'll report that I've led
- 11:26Speaker 1: a few friends of mine split the check.
- 11:30Speaker 3: It was next, all right, next best story time?
- 11:35Speaker 5: Oh man.
- 11:35Speaker 4: I thought it was hilarious when Tofer talked about when
- 11:40Speaker 4: you would sleep over his house on bunk beds right,
- 11:46Speaker 4: like I can't imagine like like wolver.
- 11:48Speaker 5: And Tofa on bunk beds parents house. I think that
- 11:53Speaker 5: was a wonderful, endearing.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I love the Terry Crews training day story, like hey, dude,
- 11:58Speaker 1: they're shooting the movie and then like you know, come
- 12:02Speaker 1: out and uh, you know, just check out the shooting
- 12:04Speaker 1: and they're like, Okay, why don't you just stand here,
- 12:06Speaker 1: you know, and all of a sudden, it's like he
- 12:08Speaker 1: had one of the most iconic close ups of all time.
- 12:11Speaker 4: You know, Yeah, he just kinda just goes to show
- 12:14Speaker 4: how life happens, right, Like that story was, Yeah, when
- 12:18Speaker 4: something's gonna manifest from that?
- 12:29Speaker 3: Moving on family vibe or family vibes? Who brought the
- 12:35Speaker 3: family vibes?
- 12:36Speaker 2: I mean, I mean I nominate Adam Rodriguez.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, we were in the living room just talking at
- 12:42Speaker 1: this point, right, Adam is great because we were able
- 12:46Speaker 1: to Here's the thing when the audiences hear names they've
- 12:49Speaker 1: never heard of before, but then all of a sudden.
- 12:51Speaker 2: We're like, yes, yes, all three of us.
- 12:53Speaker 1: It's like that's when it becomes like more family driven,
- 12:57Speaker 1: like this is you're really in the insight of our
- 12:59Speaker 1: friendship at that point.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I felt that with Roy as well.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Yes, yes, his his story about his mother, how she
- 13:07Speaker 4: used to pack up food and and put it in
- 13:09Speaker 4: the backpack and go out and sell it like that.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I mean that was all that stuff really worked for me.
- 13:14Speaker 2: It's beautiful.
- 13:16Speaker 3: And I mean Amanda.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Oh Ama, yes, of course, Amanda, I guess doesn't she
- 13:25Speaker 1: is family.
- 13:26Speaker 5: I thought that was cool though. I thought it was
- 13:28Speaker 5: great interviewing her and all the great stories.
- 13:30Speaker 1: You gotta kick off if we get a next season.
- 13:33Speaker 1: We gotta we gotta kick off with your wife next.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Let's see we get the next season, Leo.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I don't make the calls, all right, crossover moment.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Man?
- 13:45Speaker 3: So, like, who is connecting all the dots for this life?
- 13:51Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 13:52Speaker 5: Yeah? Like, like you know Gabor Luna being here.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I had posted something, uh, and I was like, and
- 13:58Speaker 4: I had named each of our characters from each of
- 14:01Speaker 4: the Robert Rodriguez projects that we had.
- 14:03Speaker 5: All did, and Uh, my character was l Ray. What
- 14:08Speaker 5: was your character?
- 14:09Speaker 2: Uh?
- 14:10Speaker 1: I was Ca So I was in and from Dusto
- 14:16Speaker 1: DLSA Down, I'm l Ray from Planetari.
- 14:18Speaker 5: And Gabriel was matter Door.
- 14:21Speaker 4: I don't remember the name of his character, but I
- 14:24Speaker 4: remember we we took a photo together and I posted that,
- 14:27Speaker 4: and I posted all of the names of the characters
- 14:29Speaker 4: in each of the projects and to and to just
- 14:31Speaker 4: see how we've all worked with this incredible Latino director
- 14:36Speaker 4: and and how we've all created these memorable characters from
- 14:39Speaker 4: his films.
- 14:41Speaker 1: That yes, I'll leave it at that, because is so
- 14:45Speaker 1: insightful and and he's the way he also you know,
- 14:49Speaker 1: articulates the story. And by the way, he probably is
- 14:51Speaker 1: one of the few guys that I've seen he remembers
- 14:54Speaker 1: first and last name, color, hair, what time of the day.
- 14:58Speaker 5: You know.
- 14:58Speaker 2: His stories were like, you know, they were really detailed.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Yeah, well let's just go the next page.
- 15:05Speaker 2: And then.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Spoke and behind the scenes Hero.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Yes, Leo, yes, uh, they always came build it bailed
- 15:19Speaker 1: us out, you know.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I mean, well, we had a great team and Aaron,
- 15:22Speaker 2: you know, we had Ryan. You know, we had Ryan too.
- 15:25Speaker 1: They're always uh, you know, they're always staying, Sophie, they
- 15:28Speaker 1: always standing, stand on their toes and.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Catch would be like what was the name of that
- 15:32Speaker 2: movie or what year was that thing written?
- 15:34Speaker 1: You know, and so you guys definitely build us out.
- 15:36Speaker 1: It made us sound very informed.
- 15:40Speaker 3: I didn't make up that award. I didn't know to
- 15:43Speaker 3: be sitting here.
- 15:43Speaker 1: So I mean, big flowers, big flowers for all of
- 15:50Speaker 1: our those amigos team. You know, this is it's been
- 15:53Speaker 1: a you know, an interesting and challenging but at the
- 15:57Speaker 1: same time, after this experience to to do this podcast
- 16:00Speaker 1: us you know, we're all incredibly busy individuals, but we've
- 16:04Speaker 1: made this little healing hour, you know, always rewarding for
- 16:11Speaker 1: all of us to who come to this chamber and
- 16:14Speaker 1: and and and voice.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Are and by the way it's flown and to me,
- 16:17Speaker 2: you know, to.
- 16:17Speaker 1: That point, I would say that everyone has made a
- 16:19Speaker 1: beautiful team and and I think we get a great
- 16:22Speaker 1: response from the fans, and and.
- 16:25Speaker 5: You know that also feels really really good.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Cool.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Yeah, a couple more, did we just become best friends of.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Isn't that a line from step Brothers?
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yes?
- 16:37Speaker 5: Did we just yes, yes.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yes, let me just become this friend.
- 16:44Speaker 4: The guests that we clicked, Yeah, Angela Johnson was she.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Was, Oh yeah, she was so real, hilarious, so hilarious,
- 16:54Speaker 1: so real, and also her whole story about being a
- 16:57Speaker 1: cheerleader and the whole thing. She's like, I guess I'll
- 16:59Speaker 1: be a cheer waters, you know, and like randomly like, yeah,
- 17:03Speaker 1: I made the squad, now what you know?
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, she's awesome.
- 17:07Speaker 1: She's definitely we're definitely closer for that moment, for sure,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I think, and so definitely was was great on.
- 17:14Speaker 3: That last one season MVP. Who's Who's got the MVP?
- 17:21Speaker 5: Season MVP? I nominated daughter.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I kind of so I know you're gonna say that.
- 17:30Speaker 4: I love that we don't edit out her running upstairs
- 17:37Speaker 4: or coming in or it's just it's the way it
- 17:40Speaker 4: should be.
- 17:41Speaker 5: That's the way that life works.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's the soundtrack of my life. So
- 17:45Speaker 1: I'm able to share share it with you guys, so
- 17:47Speaker 1: you know, really on the show and sometimes it'll be
- 17:50Speaker 1: like someone And I'm actually really surprised that some of
- 17:53Speaker 1: our guests were stay so focused with that.
- 17:58Speaker 2: You know, it's very funny. But well, hopefully also like
- 18:02Speaker 2: your flight.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Hopefully if if we get if we come back here
- 18:06Speaker 4: for a season two, we'll have two sets of uh
- 18:09Speaker 4: footsteps from will sound like a horse?
- 18:12Speaker 1: Yeah, four steps for for for a set of four legs,
- 18:16Speaker 1: you know running.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I got a last question for y'all. How do you
- 18:28Speaker 3: feel like your relationship has changed from like episode one
- 18:31Speaker 3: to now?
- 18:34Speaker 5: That's a great question.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think it has deepened a lot of our roots.
- 18:38Speaker 1: But I will say like our roots were very, very
- 18:41Speaker 1: deep and unspokenly we had a brotherhood for you longer
- 18:45Speaker 1: than this season. So I think if anything, it gives us,
- 18:49Speaker 1: it gives us an accountability, an accountable schedule to make
- 18:54Speaker 1: sure that we don't stray from one another, like like
- 18:56Speaker 1: sometimes we've had to you know, you do a job
- 18:59Speaker 1: and there from plays. You know, I do a season
- 19:01Speaker 1: for a whole season, and sometimes you could go a
- 19:03Speaker 1: couple of months with us checking in with one another.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I think it give us an excuse to really just
- 19:07Speaker 1: making sure that we're checking in with one another, and
- 19:10Speaker 1: then we're president into those lives and and and I
- 19:14Speaker 1: love that.
- 19:14Speaker 2: That's that's my favorite.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I think for me, you know, you and I
- 19:20Speaker 4: have always had this great instant relationship.
- 19:23Speaker 5: There's always been a relatability.
- 19:24Speaker 4: There's been a number of things, a number of reasons
- 19:27Speaker 4: why we've been friends for so long. I was in
- 19:30Speaker 4: Chicago recently and I was talking to one of my
- 19:33Speaker 4: uncles and I asked him, you know, you know, we
- 19:37Speaker 4: had this conversation about both of our families came from
- 19:40Speaker 4: a background of agriculture, right, and I was asking my uncle,
- 19:43Speaker 4: I said, well.
- 19:44Speaker 5: What did you what did y'all grow in the.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Finca in the you know, however you translate that into
- 19:50Speaker 4: farm on the farm, and he was like, oh, we
- 19:53Speaker 4: used to grow you know, your mother and I and
- 19:55Speaker 4: our family grew tobacco.
- 19:57Speaker 5: That was our main thing that we grew and to.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Bacco and coffee and vegetables, and we had a really
- 20:03Speaker 4: long conversation about what they grew on the finca.
- 20:07Speaker 5: And I was surprised to learn that about you when.
- 20:09Speaker 4: We in the first few episodes that your family came
- 20:14Speaker 4: from a very similar background where your family also had
- 20:18Speaker 4: a finca, your family also grew vegetables and tobacco and
- 20:23Speaker 4: the same And so after that episode, after even talking
- 20:27Speaker 4: to my uncle in Chicago, I was like, Oh, that's
- 20:29Speaker 4: why Wilma and I always got along so well right
- 20:33Speaker 4: from the beginning, because there was a familiarity there that
- 20:36Speaker 4: I don't think that you and I even realized was there,
- 20:40Speaker 4: but both of us having parents that grew up in
- 20:43Speaker 4: different countries, and there's certain nuances that come with that
- 20:48Speaker 4: that I don't usually get with other friends that their
- 20:52Speaker 4: parents were born in the States.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:54Speaker 1: No, there's definitely a level of awareness that is very rare. Right,
- 20:57Speaker 1: So as the configuration of our stories, I think that's
- 21:02Speaker 1: one thing that I offer is it will never take
- 21:04Speaker 1: for granted, is the idea that we have to keep
- 21:08Speaker 1: that story of your past, of your parents, of your
- 21:11Speaker 1: grandparents alive, because it's what we pass down to our
- 21:15Speaker 1: children next, right, it is how they get their prototype,
- 21:18Speaker 1: that's how they get their blueprint, you know, and those
- 21:21Speaker 1: stories have to live and in this moment in history
- 21:24Speaker 1: more than ever, we have to be outspoken about what's
- 21:27Speaker 1: really special about our culture, you know, making sure that
- 21:30Speaker 1: those that spirit or who we are as Latinos you know,
- 21:34Speaker 1: is a solution, is a secret sauce, you know, and
- 21:38Speaker 1: it's the other color that makes this beautiful country.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Right. So so I'm proud of that.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I'm proud that, like you know that, you know that
- 21:47Speaker 1: this show has also allowed us to heal and being
- 21:50Speaker 1: community and making sure we're gonna straight away from what's
- 21:52Speaker 1: important and talking to people about the things that we
- 21:55Speaker 1: all should keep in mind. I know that there's been
- 21:57Speaker 1: subjects where we talked about raising awareness for or you know,
- 22:01Speaker 1: for the lack of you know, medical forward thinkingness, for us,
- 22:06Speaker 1: for for our you know, for our community, and really
- 22:09Speaker 1: kind of raising awareness for the different things that our
- 22:11Speaker 1: culture unfortunately, you know, looks as a secondary you know, mandate.
- 22:18Speaker 1: And I think it's it's a really important time for
- 22:20Speaker 1: us to remind ourselves that we got to take care
- 22:22Speaker 1: of one another. We have to change biologically somehow what
- 22:28Speaker 1: you know, what we be taught when it comes to prevention,
- 22:31Speaker 1: when it comes to taking care of our elders, our parents,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and ourselves.
- 22:35Speaker 2: And I'm proud of that.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I think there are a lot of this podcast have
- 22:38Speaker 1: been a healing journey, I think for both of us.
- 22:41Speaker 5: And a lot of stuff is happening in this podcast.
- 22:43Speaker 1: You know, a lot of a lot of life altering
- 22:45Speaker 1: moments have happened to both of us during this podcast
- 22:48Speaker 1: and in between recordings, uh, and there is a kind
- 22:51Speaker 1: of and in between recordings, you know, we've been able
- 22:55Speaker 1: to check in and make sure that we hold each
- 22:56Speaker 1: other up in this process. So you know, I love
- 22:59Speaker 1: you and stalk that we still you know, to make
- 23:04Speaker 1: this possible.
- 23:06Speaker 2: And here we are, you know, forty plus episodes later.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and okay, so this is Uh, this was
- 23:16Speaker 1: a great look back at all of our episodes. I
