Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Celebrity news like that.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Guards remember ray Gun from the Olympics, that b girl.
- 0:07Speaker 2: So the twenty twenty four paras Olympics, she got out there,
- 0:09Speaker 2: she did a breakdancing thing and it wasn't very well received,
- 0:13Speaker 2: we could say. So she did like the jumping around
- 0:16Speaker 2: like she was a kangaroo, the weird on the floor
- 0:19Speaker 2: wiggling and stuff like that. I honestly thought like it
- 0:22Speaker 2: was a piss take sane, which when I first saw it,
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'm like, she's gone out there and taken the piss,
- 0:26Speaker 2: which you know, a lot of people were pissed off about. Yeah,
- 0:28Speaker 2: like you're representing our country because she got zero points,
- 0:32Speaker 2: like zero not. One of the judges thought, you know what,
- 0:35Speaker 2: like she rocked up and.
- 0:36Speaker 3: She tried like just zero because it's not breakdancing what
- 0:40Speaker 3: she did.
- 0:41Speaker 2: What's bizarre about the whole thing is that outside of dancing,
- 0:45Speaker 2: she also holds a PhD in cultural studies, which focus
- 0:48Speaker 2: on breaking culture. So she's basically dedicated her whole life
- 0:52Speaker 2: to breakdancing and she sucks. I mean, it's just weird anyway.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So then our Relie sing a Netflix documentary about Raygun.
- 1:02Speaker 2: It's called Untold Raygun, Breaking Badly, which is coming out
- 1:06Speaker 2: on September first. The trailer has been released over nine
- 1:09Speaker 2: I want you to have a little listen to it.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Right before the Olympics, I went to my therapist panic.
- 1:15Speaker 3: She was like, what's the worst that could happen?
- 1:18Speaker 1: The whole world could laugh at me. So do you
- 1:20Speaker 1: think that's reasonable?
- 1:22Speaker 3: I was like, oh no, it was this frenzy, it
- 1:25Speaker 3: was this growing monster.
- 1:27Speaker 4: I mean, it would be interesting to see how it
- 1:29Speaker 4: all came about and what her deal is.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Surely she has friends in the industry, like let's say
- 1:35Speaker 3: the breakdance industry, or like other friends who are dancers.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Who have said you, so, hey, that doesn't kind of.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Represent you know what, you know, the breakdancing culture.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It reminds me of there's always that kid whose parents
- 1:50Speaker 2: haven't told them they suck at singing, and they just
- 1:52Speaker 2: try and they get up in front of everyone, they
- 1:54Speaker 2: audition for talent shows, and you're just like someone needs
- 1:57Speaker 2: Like if your kid came to you, Amy, one of
- 1:59Speaker 2: your three children, and said I, Mum, I really want
- 2:02Speaker 2: to be a professional singer, and then gave it all
- 2:04Speaker 2: they've got to you and Ryan, your husband, and you
- 2:07Speaker 2: sat there and you're like they are tone deaf. Would
- 2:10Speaker 2: you tell them to avoid this?
- 2:12Speaker 3: I would let them go and work on themselves.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Here's what I wouldn't let them do.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I wouldn't let them go into like a.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Live TV show and audition where Olympics all the Olympics. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 3: if they were singing at the Olympics, I would put
- 2:24Speaker 3: a stop to that before they got there.
- 2:26Speaker 4: See, you know what you've got to do that. I
- 2:28Speaker 4: remember my old man. I'm in the living room, I
- 2:31Speaker 4: was singing. This got to be all right, all right,
- 2:36Speaker 4: all right, he goes to your tone deaf, stop singing.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Also tell you that you can't dance.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Nah, No, he hasn't got that.
- 2:43Speaker 2: So he discovered that is literally.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I remember headphones on in the living room.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Remember, you've got to be cruel to be kind.
- 2:51Speaker 4: I respect him for it. I am to deaf, I
- 2:52Speaker 4: can't sing. Yeah, problem solved.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Didn't try and be a singer.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Tough love. Now Jojo, and I'm not talking about Jojo.
- 2:59Speaker 2: See why I'm talking about the original Jojo. Remember this
- 3:02Speaker 2: huge song leave Get Out. She had all the makings
- 3:09Speaker 2: of being the next big pop star back in the day.
- 3:11Speaker 2: She had that song. She had too little too late,
- 3:13Speaker 2: a couple of other ones. Then she disappeared off the
- 3:16Speaker 2: face of the earth. Now, the reason that happened, if
- 3:18Speaker 2: you didn't know, she actually signed a really bad record
- 3:21Speaker 2: deal at the age of twelve. She was signed really young, obviously,
- 3:24Speaker 2: got bad advice, and then she was locked into this
- 3:27Speaker 2: deal where she was blocked from releasing music for ten years.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So that's why she just disappeared, because she had a
- 3:33Speaker 2: disagreement with her record label and they just stopped allowing
- 3:36Speaker 2: her to put music out and she couldn't go elsewhere.
- 3:38Speaker 2: She was locked into this deal. She also had a
- 3:40Speaker 2: kind of Taylor Swift situation where she also didn't own
- 3:43Speaker 2: the master recordings of those songs like her big songs
- 3:46Speaker 2: that she had early on, So if you look up
- 3:49Speaker 2: Leave on Spotify, for example, it sounds completely different because
- 3:52Speaker 2: she had to re record it much later. So anyway,
- 3:55Speaker 2: she disappeared, But now she's kind of come back and
- 3:58Speaker 2: on her socials she's doing a bit of an educational
- 4:01Speaker 2: thing where she's teaching people about the music industry. She
- 4:04Speaker 2: did one on like talking to people about the difference
- 4:07Speaker 2: between owning your master recordings and all that kind of thing,
- 4:09Speaker 2: and her latest video is all about the fact that
- 4:12Speaker 2: she thinks that no real singer, no singer is really
- 4:16Speaker 2: singing live anymore because of how advanced technology is. Even
- 4:19Speaker 2: when they're singing live, it's auto tuned, and like when
- 4:22Speaker 2: you go to concerts and you're like, oh, her mic
- 4:24Speaker 2: is on, Sure it might be, but it's not actually
- 4:27Speaker 2: what they sound like. Take a listen.
- 4:29Speaker 1: But I find it really interesting is that most people
- 4:31Speaker 1: don't even realize that their expectations have changed, because every
- 4:34Speaker 1: concert sounds flawless. I've been in an audience and I'm
- 4:36Speaker 1: watching a show and I'm like, you'll see what's going on, right,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and they're like, yes, the mic is on. I'm like,
- 4:41Speaker 1: it's literally not. But then if they weren't using this stuff,
- 4:45Speaker 1: A misnoe, a human moment, a run that doesn't quite land,
- 4:48Speaker 1: all those things start to feel and sound like a
- 4:50Speaker 1: failure when it used to just feel like.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I'm not bothered by people auto tuning. What's that thing
- 4:57Speaker 4: where they're not really singing butlepsy bother me. I know
- 5:01Speaker 4: people are real purists for it, but I'm like, well,
- 5:03Speaker 4: if it sounds good, it sounds good, you know.
- 5:05Speaker 3: I just remember going to a Rihanna concert and I
- 5:07Speaker 3: used to love her.
- 5:09Speaker 4: I still do.
- 5:10Speaker 3: But her on the radio or on you know, Spotify
- 5:14Speaker 3: versus her in real life, it's not pretty different.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 4: No, Right, so if they fake it when they're up
- 5:19Speaker 4: on stage and it sounds like it does on the radio,
- 5:21Speaker 4: then what's the problem. Yeah, well they're a fraud. Is
- 5:24Speaker 4: that what you're saying? You call them Rihanna a fraud
- 5:26Speaker 4: live on It.
- 5:27Speaker 3: No, I'm just saying she sounded different to Also, you've
- 5:30Speaker 3: got to remember, just like a game of footy, right,
- 5:32Speaker 3: your favorite player has an off night.
- 5:33Speaker 2: You could go to a concert. They could be just
- 5:35Speaker 2: having an off day. Yeah, that can happen, but there's
- 5:37Speaker 2: no room for error anymore. That's what JoJo's saying. She's
- 5:40Speaker 2: like one off note with phones on the internet, and
- 5:42Speaker 2: you're basically gone viral for being a shit singer. Yeah,
