- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily Pad production.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hello, Lee Progs, Welcome back to Fandemonium. I'm so excited
- 0:07Speaker 2: to share this episode, and as a result, I'm not
- 0:10Speaker 2: going to talk for too long up top.
- 0:12Speaker 3: We can do plugs at the end. Instead.
- 0:14Speaker 2: All I want to do up top is say a
- 0:16Speaker 2: huge thank you to our very own Drew Shulman, who
- 0:20Speaker 2: wrote this episode, hosted this episode, led us down a
- 0:25Speaker 2: hilarious path of games and comedy, and it was fantastic.
- 0:30Speaker 2: You can already tell the theme is going to be
- 0:32Speaker 2: a silly one. You can maybe tell from the title
- 0:34Speaker 2: of the episode that a couple of fan favorite guests
- 0:38Speaker 2: are returning. When it's the five of us hanging out,
- 0:41Speaker 2: it gets pretty silly. Dane and Nile of No Quest
- 0:44Speaker 2: for the Wicked and Fuck Buddies joined us for this
- 0:48Speaker 2: episode All About Canada. Drew, thank you so much for
- 0:51Speaker 2: putting this together. I hope everyone has as much fun
- 0:54Speaker 2: listening to this episode as we had making it. And
- 0:57Speaker 2: I'll be honest, I want to see more Drew hosted episodes.
- 1:00Speaker 2: If we're opening the doors to countries as fandoms, if
- 1:04Speaker 2: we can do anything as a fandom. This podcast is
- 1:07Speaker 2: literally limitless. I mean it already kind of is. That's
- 1:11Speaker 2: the nature of podcasting, but even more limitless. Thank you
- 1:16Speaker 2: so much for tuning in Leap Progs. Thank you for
- 1:18Speaker 2: choosing us as your comedy entertainment distraction for the day.
- 1:22Speaker 2: I now leave you in the very capable hands of
- 1:25Speaker 2: Drew Shulman for this Fandomonium all about Canada.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Hello, and welcome to Fandemonium, the pop culture game show
- 1:51Speaker 4: that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your
- 1:54Speaker 4: games master and local Canuck Drew Shulman. No, I know
- 1:58Speaker 4: I'm not the normal host, but yeah, the lines sounds
- 2:00Speaker 4: good enough as it is.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Now.
- 2:02Speaker 4: A games master needs games and a game needs players,
- 2:05Speaker 4: so please welcome. First, he produces shows at the Peak
- 2:08Speaker 4: Improv Theater, runs a successful podcast, and normally sits in
- 2:12Speaker 4: the seat on this very show.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Matt Watson, Hello, Hello, I enjoyed that opening copy. Whoever
- 2:19Speaker 2: wrote that is a genius.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Aw and she is our resident panelist, a podcaster, and
- 2:24Speaker 4: a comedian who works in STEM, which today stands for Smarties, Timbits,
- 2:28Speaker 4: elbows up, and milk in a bag.
- 2:30Speaker 5: It's Oudre Stevenson.
- 2:31Speaker 6: Hello, Hello. I recognized some of those references surprisingly hard
- 2:39Speaker 6: to put together for this one.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Tough right, I'm so glad you went through with it.
- 2:44Speaker 4: I couldn't let the joke slide. But welcome to your podcast.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it's always weird being this way around. I need
- 2:52Speaker 2: to get to acclimatized to it. But also I always
- 2:55Speaker 2: feel like it's supply teacher modes of like I just
- 2:58Speaker 2: want to be a naughty student.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Hey, show of hands. Who knows what a supply teacher
- 3:02Speaker 5: isstitute teacher? Oh? Really?
- 3:06Speaker 7: Wow?
- 3:06Speaker 5: Am the only one out of the loop on this one? Great?
- 3:09Speaker 1: I live with him.
- 3:11Speaker 5: I was gonna say that.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Makes sense, you would have figured it out by now,
- 3:13Speaker 4: but I'm like, I've ever heard that before, So now
- 3:16Speaker 4: I'll be button your connection to Europeans out of the way, Audra.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Do the two of you have any major connections to Canada?
- 3:22Speaker 4: Have you visited before or besides me, know any Canadians.
- 3:28Speaker 6: I had a Canadian roommate for a couple of years,
- 3:30Speaker 6: but other than that, I don't think I know a
- 3:32Speaker 6: single Canadian.
- 3:36Speaker 5: You've actually done mental damage to Dane watching that happen.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I've met wonderful Canadians online over the yeas such as
- 3:49Speaker 2: Dane Andrew. But I don't think I've ever had like
- 3:54Speaker 2: an IRL Canadian friends who I've been friends with in person,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and I don't think I've got any Canadian family, and
- 4:03Speaker 2: I've never been to Canada.
- 4:04Speaker 3: So this is gonna go great.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Fix the bases. You're allowed to fail now, but yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 4: I know you're coming down. We're gonna make a Toronto
- 4:11Speaker 4: or halifacture of having for all of us. Yes, yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 4: Now these two will need some opponents, so let's get
- 4:16Speaker 4: our sticks on the ice for some two B two
- 4:18Speaker 4: verbal street hockey. We have here a podcaster games master
- 4:22Speaker 4: on No Quest for the Wicked, one half of the
- 4:25Speaker 4: sex and advice show Fuck Buddies. It's Dane Miller. I'd
- 4:29Speaker 4: like that you killed fuck, but he's a sex and
- 4:32Speaker 4: advice show, which makes it sound like we are having
- 4:35Speaker 4: sex while giving advice and not advice about sex.
- 4:39Speaker 6: It's on. Only fans know why that was the.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Wording I chose for that, But now do you stay
- 4:45Speaker 5: it out loud? I think I hear what you mean.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Eh, well, I'm not changing the copy because the next
- 4:50Speaker 4: is he's also a podcaster, a writer party member on
- 4:53Speaker 4: No Quest for the Wicked, and the other half of
- 4:55Speaker 4: funck buddies.
- 4:56Speaker 5: It's Nile Spain. Yeah, come listen to us. Have said
- 5:00Speaker 5: give advice. Amen, you can't tele if I'm joking until
- 5:04Speaker 5: you come listen.
- 5:05Speaker 4: So I.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Use because there's no subtitles.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Well, if you ever actually manual addub titles, Matt, you
- 5:18Speaker 4: have to like like like the.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Slash slash car. Yeah, what is the thing like the
- 5:23Speaker 5: in square brackets like S I C in italics. That
- 5:25Speaker 5: means like, I don't know it's spelled.
- 5:27Speaker 6: Yeah, it means that the original thing was misspelled.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Oh, it's like an editor not like we didn't fix
- 5:34Speaker 5: this on purpose. We're allowed to make this mistake.
- 5:38Speaker 6: It's my favorite sassy editorial thing. I read a book
- 5:43Speaker 6: about James Bond and Ian Fleming kept misspelling like Japanese words.
- 5:50Speaker 6: So it's just like this long thing where she would
- 5:53Speaker 6: just be like s I C s I C s
- 5:55Speaker 6: I C about like twenty times in the same paragraph.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Sick.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Bond really love that. It really checks out for Ian Fleming.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Those books are hard to read.
- 6:05Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I read a book about film fashion and
- 6:09Speaker 6: feminism in the Bond like books and movies. It was interesting.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Yeah. I read a book by him and it was
- 6:17Speaker 5: startlingly racist, like two levels I didn't I scarcely believed,
- 6:22Speaker 5: and then the misogynyt yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Sorry here Yeah dude, my great uncle Ian Fleming, I.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Would not be shocked to find out that you were
- 6:34Speaker 5: somehow related.
- 6:35Speaker 2: To him, if not that one of the Queen's Corgies show.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Well that is true on your father's mother's uncle side.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Yeah, Dan Nile, welcome to their show.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I mean, I'm gonna say, I think you're both a
- 6:49Speaker 4: little closer to Canada, but what is your connection to Canada?
- 6:54Speaker 4: I'm currently geographical. I have been born and raised in Canada.
- 7:01Speaker 4: You are standing in it right now, and I'm currently
- 7:04Speaker 4: in it. I'm here.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm such deep inside Canada currently. I was actually
- 7:10Speaker 5: born here, but went home when I was like nine
- 7:13Speaker 5: months old to Ireland and grew up there until I
- 7:15Speaker 5: was like twenty one. So I've been here again now
- 7:19Speaker 5: for like a while, over a decade. So when my
- 7:25Speaker 5: Canada knowledge sucks later, I shouldn't have said all this.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Just all the questions are going to fall in that,
- 7:31Speaker 4: like twenty one years if you were in Ireland, Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Yeah, those are the formative years and I did not
- 7:36Speaker 5: form into it.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Yeah, because I like if someone asked me to draw
- 7:43Speaker 4: a map of Canada, do it, it would suck terribly
- 7:47Speaker 4: and I can't. I can't even say confidently that I
- 7:50Speaker 4: would get it right. And it's funny because, like I know,
- 7:51Speaker 4: in America, like labeling the States is like a big thing.
- 7:54Speaker 5: You guys got a lot of them. We've got I
- 7:57Speaker 5: don't even want to say a number of con I
- 8:01Speaker 5: will got a few. I will say I had to
- 8:05Speaker 5: I like writing copy for this. I looked it up
- 8:07Speaker 5: because I wasn't one hundred percent sure I up. So
- 8:11Speaker 5: save boat, Save boat. We're good.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Okay, teams, get your brooms ready and slide that rock
- 8:17Speaker 4: into the house. But your curling squads are gonna need
- 8:20Speaker 4: some names. So can I have each team come up
- 8:22Speaker 4: with a Canadian themed team name?
- 8:24Speaker 5: Please? I'm gonna have a Nylon dang start this time,
- 8:28Speaker 5: Canial Danon's.
- 8:31Speaker 4: I knew I was. I was trying to think of
- 8:34Speaker 4: how you were gonna make that quite easily. Actually, yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 4: that wasn't bad. I've got a I've got a list,
- 8:42Speaker 4: and I feel like this none of these are gonna
- 8:45Speaker 4: hit for a lot. Well, there's a lot that aren't
- 8:47Speaker 4: gonna hit for people don't live in Toronto, specifically.
- 8:52Speaker 5: The the easy one was the A Team E A
- 8:55Speaker 5: or whatever.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Then I went to CN Boyer, which is C Tower,
- 9:05Speaker 4: which is what about.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Big tim boys like Tim Bitts but with boys, and
- 9:10Speaker 5: the Poutine Pooh Team.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Lost in the Path, which is again if you've never
- 9:17Speaker 4: been to Toronto, the path is an underground uh like
- 9:21Speaker 4: shop in like under under the it is the back
- 9:27Speaker 4: rooms it is. It is a nightmare healthscape.
- 9:29Speaker 5: You can never get where you want and the only
- 9:31Speaker 5: shops that exist down there are shops that have no
- 9:34Speaker 5: point shot. It's like, oh, are you looking for a
- 9:38Speaker 5: boutique like Polish handbag? Hey, the path got you? Yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 5: three stories underground, unfindable. No one's in there. They're making money,
- 9:48Speaker 5: but yes, they have been there for sixty five years.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Though the other one was the t t seamen oh
- 9:56Speaker 4: TTC of course the Toronto Transit Commission.
- 9:59Speaker 5: Yep, see I know something about Canada public.
- 10:04Speaker 4: The Toronto Man's, which is again I don't know how
- 10:08Speaker 4: much of this translates, but famously Toronto Man's is like
- 10:13Speaker 4: a It's almost like a Florida man. Okay, but for yes,
- 10:19Speaker 4: And then the last one, this is a stretch and
- 10:21Speaker 4: I feel like it's not good because I have to
- 10:23Speaker 4: explain it, and I feel again, unless you know what
- 10:26Speaker 4: I'm talking about, it doesn't make any sense. But this
- 10:31Speaker 4: last one is Ryan a tobacco, which which Ry is
- 10:38Speaker 4: Canadian whiskey, and a tobacco is a town or like
- 10:42Speaker 4: a city in the g t A.
- 10:43Speaker 5: But it's spelled a Toba coke. It's look, guys, it's
- 10:48Speaker 5: not great. No, it's got to really not only explain the.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Writer which one of the Grand theft as is set
- 10:56Speaker 2: in Canada.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Actually all of them. That's what the GTA stands for
- 11:01Speaker 4: greater trying to figure out how to get the g
- 11:04Speaker 4: t A connection.
- 11:08Speaker 5: GTA boys.
- 11:09Speaker 4: But I feel like, for for ceremony and tradition, we
- 11:14Speaker 4: do have to go with Niles.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Can you can you repeat Nile Nile? How that was?
- 11:19Speaker 5: So I can try to assume a spelling for it.
- 11:21Speaker 5: Canial Danon's Conile. It's gonna suck in our buzzing round boy.
- 11:30Speaker 5: It only takes us solid two seconds to say the
- 11:33Speaker 5: name and hurts.
- 11:36Speaker 4: You take psychic damage upon each use. Every five of
- 11:39Speaker 4: our being will repulse against it. But Canile Dayden's that?
- 11:43Speaker 5: Even I'm yeah, No, I what I have to say now, great,
- 11:47Speaker 5: I didn't actually know the teams going into this, so
- 11:49Speaker 5: I had canoed Drayns, which I don't know is better,
- 11:54Speaker 5: you know.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Yeah, And if we'd have been on the same team Nile.
- 12:00Speaker 5: It would have been no Matt. I'm like, which is
- 12:07Speaker 5: a denail a deep Canadian reference? Oh yeah, that deep
- 12:12Speaker 5: Canadian lore Matt. Yeah, there naked Nile and Matt was
- 12:26Speaker 5: Oh my god. All my ones for you, Matt were
- 12:28Speaker 5: too x rated. I'm sorry.
- 12:30Speaker 3: That's okay, we'll save them for the Patreon.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Yeah. That's that's where that that's where the this is
- 12:35Speaker 5: the advice half, that's where the sex half happens. Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 4: So the canil Edadiens will need some opponents. Aldra, Matt,
- 12:42Speaker 4: do you have any Canadian themed team names thought up
- 12:44Speaker 4: or ready to go? Or where is this gonna co?
- 12:48Speaker 1: We talked about this earlier.
- 12:50Speaker 6: I did forget all but the main one.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I wrote, I wrote a few down you.
- 12:56Speaker 2: I figured that we'd be like the kind of the
- 12:59Speaker 2: villains of this being like representing us in the UK,
- 13:03Speaker 2: and so we had a few names that were in
- 13:05Speaker 2: that vein where we've got blame Canada.
- 13:09Speaker 6: Pretty good, especially since we're in Colorado. It has a
- 13:14Speaker 6: double the double connection.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Bad neighbors, because that's currently being based in the US.
- 13:22Speaker 2: That's currently what we are, the special relationship, because that's
- 13:27Speaker 2: sometimes what we refer to our relationship as diplomatically at restaurants. Yes,
- 13:33Speaker 2: and then the other ones I have are just like
- 13:35Speaker 2: pop culture references specifically to things I enjoy.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I enjoy professional wrestling a lot.
- 13:40Speaker 2: And there's an independent Canadian promotion that's popping off right
- 13:44Speaker 2: now called Maple Leaf Pro, so the Maple Leaf Pros.
- 13:48Speaker 2: It could be a good name. I like a lot
- 13:51Speaker 2: of Canadian music. I was trying to do riffs on
- 13:54Speaker 2: bands I like. So I've got the new new pornographers
- 14:00Speaker 2: because that's what fans do sometimes. And that's all I
- 14:02Speaker 2: have written down. Do you have anymore?
- 14:04Speaker 6: I didn't have any more, But I do love the
- 14:06Speaker 6: Special Relationship.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty I do.
- 14:11Speaker 5: I think it's I think it's very adorable.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Because it has nothing to do with Canada. It's just
- 14:17Speaker 6: politically what they refer to the US and the UK as.
- 14:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm very okay with that. I love this hand
- 14:24Speaker 5: thing going on.
- 14:25Speaker 2: We're teaming up diplomatically against the nation of Canada.
- 14:28Speaker 6: Our hands are so sweaty, so it's so hot in
- 14:31Speaker 6: this room.
- 14:32Speaker 5: Hey, Ireland's neutral, every inch of it.
- 14:39Speaker 3: I'm not going to say anything because from.
- 14:44Speaker 5: I feel like it's a common theme in this category
- 14:46Speaker 5: going forward. Well, Island could be whatever it wants to be.
- 14:49Speaker 5: I'm not going to say anything, and it damn well
- 14:51Speaker 5: will be. Yes, what about law?
- 14:56Speaker 4: If I recall correctly, you had your fish and chip
- 14:59Speaker 4: fingers all over.
- 15:01Speaker 3: We certainly did.
- 15:03Speaker 2: But you know, for the next ninety minutes, fuck Canada?
- 15:09Speaker 5: All right?
- 15:10Speaker 4: If you are listening to this and you're thinking Canada,
- 15:13Speaker 4: don't you mean the fifty first state? Yeehawk, gun sound,
- 15:15Speaker 4: gun sound. Don't worry. Here's Paula, a pass player of
- 15:19Speaker 4: this game, with a little segment we like to call
- 15:21Speaker 4: passing knowledge. Canada is the second largest country in the
- 15:25Speaker 4: world by area, and its people spend ten provinces and
- 15:28Speaker 4: three territories. Canada is a country that many associate with
- 15:32Speaker 4: hockey beavers saying sorry, a bunch French speakers, maple syrup,
- 15:36Speaker 4: and colorful money. Sorry this one off for a bit long.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Due to being such close neighbors to the US of A,
- 15:42Speaker 4: most Canadians often each to remind folks they meet that
- 15:44Speaker 4: they are not, in fact Americans. We're different in so
- 15:47Speaker 4: many ways. Spelling words like favorite or color with a U,
- 15:51Speaker 4: we use the metric system mostly we say Z instead
- 15:54Speaker 4: of Z, and we still buy Tim Morton's coffee, despite
- 15:57Speaker 4: how bad it's become over the years. On that note,
- 16:00Speaker 4: let's cut our elbows, up our sticks on the ice
- 16:02Speaker 4: and play some pandemonium.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yes, paula excellent phenomenal. I like the sound of this Candada.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Actually maybe I am a fan.
- 16:15Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 16:15Speaker 4: We can give you by the end of this episode.
- 16:17Speaker 4: We see, but we'll see what happens.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Say.
- 16:21Speaker 5: We also spell things the way you spell things with
- 16:23Speaker 5: the correct number of news.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I was very excited to hear that.
- 16:28Speaker 6: The passing knowledge did remind me that I did have
- 16:30Speaker 6: one team name that I had forgotten That isn't so
- 16:33Speaker 6: irrelevant now, but it was just the Beaver Wars.
- 16:38Speaker 5: We don't talk about that, Yeah, we don't, sir. A
- 16:44Speaker 5: second Beavers hit the damn good, it would build it
- 16:50Speaker 5: up more. The damn keeps drawing.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Just before we get to today's games, I've asked each
- 16:58Speaker 4: player to bring in a news something that inspires them
- 17:01Speaker 4: or something they love that has something to do with
- 17:03Speaker 4: our great northern country. Canada is inspiring to me because
- 17:06Speaker 4: it's my home and I'm proud to show it off
- 17:08Speaker 4: and share with those who come from far away to
- 17:10Speaker 4: visit it. But let's find out what our panelists have
- 17:13Speaker 4: to say. Dane, this is tough for me because again,
- 17:18Speaker 4: like you know, Canada's my home and I love a
- 17:20Speaker 4: lot of the things about it, and having just kind
- 17:24Speaker 4: of Canada Day just kind of passed. It's also Canada
- 17:29Speaker 4: has a not great history of things that we have
- 17:35Speaker 4: done to groups of people.
- 17:36Speaker 5: That are not great.
- 17:37Speaker 4: So it's like, you know, there's that bittersuite of like
- 17:39Speaker 4: being like fully fully on board with a country and
- 17:44Speaker 4: like where you're from and being proud of it, but
- 17:45Speaker 4: also acknowledging that kind of stuff. But that being said,
- 17:50Speaker 4: Canada is a beautiful country and it is It is
- 17:54Speaker 4: pretty easy to go anywhere in this country and find
- 18:00Speaker 4: pretty like beautiful natural wonder Like even in you know,
- 18:05Speaker 4: a metropolitan city like Toronto. We have places like High
- 18:08Speaker 4: Park and Riverdale and like all these places that you
- 18:10Speaker 4: can go and just be like I'll feel like I'm
- 18:12Speaker 4: in a city right now, Like I feel like I'm
- 18:15Speaker 4: kind of just out in the wilderness. And then the
- 18:18Speaker 4: second you go like an hour north of a major
- 18:20Speaker 4: city like Toronto, you're like, you're in beautiful uh, just
- 18:25Speaker 4: country uh. And it's it's easy to remember that, like,
- 18:30Speaker 4: oh yeah, the world is kind of nice and very
- 18:32Speaker 4: pretty and very beautiful and we're very lucky to be
- 18:35Speaker 4: surrounded by it.
- 18:37Speaker 5: I love that. Thank you.
- 18:39Speaker 4: That's a be awesome nile onto you what what is
- 18:43Speaker 4: inspiring to you about Canada?
- 18:46Speaker 5: Shawarma raman, please elaborate. There's a place down the road
- 18:52Speaker 5: that's selling Shawarma rama and like, what could be more
- 18:56Speaker 5: fucking Toronto than that? You know what I mean? It
- 18:58Speaker 5: is such a multicultural, beautiful city in that like everybody
- 19:03Speaker 5: is represented and like you could get literally what like
- 19:06Speaker 5: someone did a Reddit thread recently where they were like,
- 19:08Speaker 5: try to find fusions of everything, and it just the
- 19:12Speaker 5: list just kept going. You know, there's a Korean next
- 19:14Speaker 5: who plays down the way that's unbelievable. To be fair,
- 19:17Speaker 5: I haven't had the Schwarma Roman. I cannot speak to
- 19:20Speaker 5: its quality and it's not necessarily from a good place. However,
- 19:24Speaker 5: it's the spirit of that that is carrying me through.
- 19:30Speaker 5: That's what it stands for yeah, the food and the
- 19:32Speaker 5: multiculturalness of Toronto and a lot of Canada. Fuck yeah,
- 19:36Speaker 5: that's what's carrying me through.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Hell yes, the next time I have a multi hour
- 19:41Speaker 4: day long layover in Toronto, if you surprise last second
- 19:45Speaker 4: bargain to your home, we'll go to a tour of
- 19:47Speaker 4: like weird fusions. Hell yeah, okay, moving to our next team.
- 19:52Speaker 4: And also, I guess, in like distance from Canadian connection,
- 19:55Speaker 4: let's go to Audre next.
- 19:59Speaker 6: I think my muse for Canada is that I think
- 20:04Speaker 6: I might like people are like, oh my god, I
- 20:06Speaker 6: was born in the wrong era, Like there's just a
- 20:11Speaker 6: calling to me from Canada. Like I when I was
- 20:16Speaker 6: in high school, I got to go to Italy and
- 20:18Speaker 6: Greece and every person I spoke to was like, oh,
- 20:20Speaker 6: you're Canadian, right, And now I realize it was just
- 20:23Speaker 6: because I wasn't very rude and I was very quiet.
- 20:27Speaker 6: But now on my Instagram, I just keep getting these
- 20:31Speaker 6: forced ads of like, here's how to move to Canada.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Call our law office.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Yes, totally random ads that no one paid for.
- 20:43Speaker 6: But gosh, there there is a law firm or two
- 20:48Speaker 6: or twenty that just really thinks that I should call
- 20:53Speaker 6: their office to try to immigrate to Canada. And gosh,
- 20:59Speaker 6: if we weren't in the middle of immigration now, we'd
- 21:04Speaker 6: think about it.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Well once once Matt's a pro and immigrating to another country,
- 21:10Speaker 4: you guys can do it as a co op job
- 21:11Speaker 4: next single player than the two player mode.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Yes, perfect.
- 21:16Speaker 6: You've never seen chain immigration where it's just like you
- 21:18Speaker 6: move to one country and then you immigrate to the
- 21:21Speaker 6: next country, and then you immigrate.
- 21:22Speaker 3: To the nationalities like Pokemon, Jim Badges.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Get your combo up immigration.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's what we're doing.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Amazing. I look forward to helping you get your papers here.
- 21:39Speaker 5: And speaking of immigrants, Matt, yes, wow, saying that what
- 21:44Speaker 5: Canada is inspiring to you.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't surprise you that I don't often refer
- 21:48Speaker 2: to myself as an immigrant, given the amount of privilege
- 21:51Speaker 2: I have. I can I have, can I have two?
- 21:55Speaker 2: I know players sometimes ask me for two and I'm like, I.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Will, I will. I'm a benevolent games master, I will
- 22:02Speaker 5: allow it.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Okay, thank you.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Well, First, I'm gonna say my first news is my
- 22:07Speaker 2: favorite Canadian who is hosting this episode right now.
- 22:10Speaker 3: It's Drew Shulman.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Drew has supported this podcast so much throughout the last
- 22:16Speaker 2: several years and is now in a position where he's
- 22:20Speaker 2: able to flawlessly host. At least We'll wait and I'll
- 22:24Speaker 2: change that in post by the time to the end
- 22:26Speaker 2: of the session.
- 22:27Speaker 5: It's the kind of host to just cut host.
- 22:33Speaker 2: But Drew, I just wanted to to thank you because
- 22:36Speaker 2: you are You are my favorite Canadian, and I also
- 22:39Speaker 2: want to commend your bravery in making the first nationalist Fandemonium.
- 22:44Speaker 2: This is the first time we've we've deld into nationalism
- 22:47Speaker 2: as a fandom. I guess it is a fandom, but
- 22:49Speaker 2: you've opened the door to some some much more toxic
- 22:51Speaker 2: kinds of nationalism.
- 22:52Speaker 3: So I hope you're proud you.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Say, I'm just saying I won't host it, but I
- 22:58Speaker 4: want to be on the IKEA episode.
- 23:03Speaker 2: You know, if we keep doing this, we'll do a
- 23:05Speaker 2: Sweden episode. You know, your fifty seven of this podcast
- 23:09Speaker 2: will do Sweden.
- 23:10Speaker 5: We'll get the chef on as A as a guest
- 23:12Speaker 5: host that time.
- 23:14Speaker 6: He'll do the passing knowledge.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Very good.
- 23:18Speaker 2: My other he would be so good. My other muse
- 23:22Speaker 2: is something that I would like. Dana Niles thoughts on
- 23:25Speaker 2: having seen some stuff on on social media the past
- 23:28Speaker 2: couple of months. I'm nominating as my muse Canada's hosting
- 23:33Speaker 2: of the World Cup just because. My very quick explanation
- 23:43Speaker 2: as to why it's inspiring is because all of the
- 23:46Speaker 2: games that took place in the US were marred in
- 23:49Speaker 2: like corruption controversy, so much embezzling. It's like the whole tournament,
- 23:54Speaker 2: it's like a money laundering scheme. And there was a
- 23:56Speaker 2: real spotlight on that with the figures who were there
- 23:58Speaker 2: for the US games. There was lots of reports out
- 24:01Speaker 2: that the cartel were threatening players of various teams to
- 24:05Speaker 2: ensure the certain outcomes of certain games. So that's why
- 24:09Speaker 2: the Mexico games didn't feel that great, whereas the Canadian
- 24:12Speaker 2: games were just pleasant. They were just no drama, just
- 24:16Speaker 2: fall and yes, pleasant from our sofa. But what was
- 24:21Speaker 2: it like dealing with horrible, horrible drunk Europeans.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Uh yeah, I like, yeah, it was bad. It was
- 24:31Speaker 4: some of the worst shifts I've ever had as a
- 24:33Speaker 4: bartender in in my life. I kicked a dude out
- 24:39Speaker 4: of my bar for not wanting to pay for a pepsi.
- 24:41Speaker 4: So that's that's where I was mentally at one.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Point I just start pepsis should be free, you know,
- 24:46Speaker 5: you get to go to other countries and decide that. Yeah.
- 24:50Speaker 4: The worst thing is he he wasn't he like he
- 24:53Speaker 4: seemed to have been from Canada, Like he didn't seem
- 24:56Speaker 4: like a oh a tourist, Like he fucked that guy.
- 25:01Speaker 4: But it was, Yeah, it was. It was a challenging
- 25:03Speaker 4: time for me mentally and physically.
- 25:07Speaker 5: It's funny, I will say I thought it was gonna
- 25:09Speaker 5: be a lot worse because Toronto is famous for having
- 25:11Speaker 5: horrendous like traffic all the time, like you cannot get anywhere.
- 25:16Speaker 5: It's fucked. And on top of that, just like the
- 25:18Speaker 5: city doesn't make allowances for things. It'll be like, oh,
- 25:21Speaker 5: we've got like eight concerts in the one area and
- 25:23Speaker 5: we're not gonna change anything. Wait, people can't get anywhere.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Who would have thought? So I was miserable leading up
- 25:29Speaker 5: to it because I was like, it's all gonna be
- 25:30Speaker 5: fucked and the city didn't do anything. But the people
- 25:34Speaker 5: of the city just said I'm not going down there.
- 25:37Speaker 5: So it was like empty. It was like actually empty
- 25:39Speaker 5: apart from people who were down for the games, like
- 25:42Speaker 5: for the most part, which judging by ours working mornings
- 25:45Speaker 5: and not nights. It was like a weirder vibe because like, yeah,
- 25:48Speaker 5: some days we had like two thousand Germans coming in
- 25:50Speaker 5: the front door who were pretty chill because it was morning.
- 25:53Speaker 5: But like a lot of the time I was just
- 25:55Speaker 5: like where is everybody? And it was kind of like
- 25:56Speaker 5: we were in a ghost town. It was very weird,
- 25:58Speaker 5: but overall like much better than I thought it was
- 26:00Speaker 5: going to go.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Okay to two stories that two different there.
- 26:06Speaker 6: Are the night in the morning.
- 26:13Speaker 5: I have no on this because we're nowhere near that ship,
- 26:19Speaker 5: and I.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Will say I just want to I want to give
- 26:20Speaker 4: a quick shout out to Croatian fans because they are
- 26:24Speaker 4: absolutely insane but incredibly nice. Yes, at one point in
- 26:28Speaker 4: time we had Croatians scaling our bar like the outside
- 26:32Speaker 4: walls of the but they were incredibly nice and tipped
- 26:37Speaker 4: very well. So yeah, the heroes in my book of
- 26:40Speaker 4: the World Cup are the Croatians.
- 26:43Speaker 2: I'll second that every Croatian I've ever met has been
- 26:46Speaker 2: lovely and polite, and so yeah, Croatia for the next
- 26:50Speaker 2: World Cup.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Let's let's bring it home to if they want.
- 26:54Speaker 4: No, here's the thing, I don't ever want the World
- 26:57Speaker 4: Cup to go anywhere. That's good because it's terrible for them.
- 27:02Speaker 4: It costs so much money and there is no return
- 27:05Speaker 4: for it. But we're gonna I'm gonna get into some
- 27:08Speaker 4: crazy ship if we can get the.
- 27:10Speaker 5: Way for our World Cup pandemonium. Yeah. I was gonna
- 27:15Speaker 5: say when when they'll host it? In four years?
- 27:17Speaker 4: That's when they do the World Cup every four years, right,
- 27:19Speaker 4: that's okay, cool, I knew that clearly.
- 27:22Speaker 6: Uh.
- 27:22Speaker 5: And then we'll do a Croatia fandom when they host.
- 27:25Speaker 5: That's how this works because I've decided I'm setting the
- 27:27Speaker 5: rules for nationalist episodes. Yep. It's really cool that that
- 27:32Speaker 5: they've changed the rules to let us choose the host country,
- 27:35Speaker 5: you know what I mean? Like that was kind of
- 27:37Speaker 5: you know specifically, yes, Yeah, Like I know we complain
- 27:40Speaker 5: about all their like corruption and stuff, but like when
- 27:42Speaker 5: it's in our favor, like right now, it's pretty cool.
- 27:46Speaker 5: Corruption tastes good when you're the one corrupting. I can't
- 27:49Speaker 5: get it. Wait, wait, I get to keep all this
- 27:53Speaker 5: money and fissed off? Wait?
- 27:54Speaker 4: Is this is this what we've been fighting against this
- 27:56Speaker 4: whole time? Because what we protesting.
- 28:00Speaker 7: Is that.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Oh god, alright, teams, Uh let's grab our tuks and
- 28:07Speaker 4: let's slid on in to round one.
- 28:13Speaker 5: Round one, which I like to call five for lying.
- 28:16Speaker 4: This round is a classic Pandemonium staple, which, as I said,
- 28:20Speaker 4: I'm calling five for lying. Each team will be presented
- 28:22Speaker 4: with a list of five Canadian things. It is up
- 28:25Speaker 4: to them to lock in the three real entries and
- 28:28Speaker 4: avoid the fakes. Lock in a fake and your round
- 28:30Speaker 4: is over. And for this game, I'm gonna have us
- 28:35Speaker 4: start with the special relationships.
- 28:39Speaker 5: That's just because it's the only one.
- 28:40Speaker 6: You can say you want to give yourself a running
- 28:44Speaker 6: start for the other one, and I respect that.
- 28:46Speaker 5: I mean, also, my penmanship is so bad. I looked
- 28:48Speaker 5: down and I was like, what the fuck I write again? Yeah?
- 28:52Speaker 4: I wrote it down to kind of help myself, and
- 28:54Speaker 4: it's it's like scrawling. I feel like I'm going fuckings
- 29:00Speaker 4: saying every time letters keep moving and telling you need
- 29:02Speaker 4: to like, you know, like summon the great One.
- 29:04Speaker 5: I don't know what's going on, do it. It was
- 29:07Speaker 5: just a weird amalgamation of me and dang, it's just
- 29:12Speaker 5: a giant Trudeau.
- 29:15Speaker 4: So for our first round, in your first list, each
- 29:18Speaker 4: we're gonna be doing Canadian foods. So I have here
- 29:22Speaker 4: five Canadian classic dishes. It'll be up to you to
- 29:25Speaker 4: find the three reel and skip the two fakes. Your
- 29:29Speaker 4: list is beaver Tail, Antler Bark, Bloody Caesar, Cochamp, and
- 29:37Speaker 4: don't air.
- 29:39Speaker 2: No, I've not heard of any of those. Yeah, I
- 29:44Speaker 2: think I've got all three.
- 29:46Speaker 4: Yeah, just to really rub it in, don't worry, your
- 29:50Speaker 4: list is intentionally harder.
- 29:52Speaker 1: You fuck me again.
- 29:55Speaker 4: You have beaver Tail, anteler Bark, Bloody Sees, and donaire.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Are there any that you feel remotely good about?
- 30:09Speaker 2: So?
- 30:10Speaker 6: I questioned myself and then I double questioned myself. But
- 30:13Speaker 6: I feel like, uh one, I feel like there's a version.
- 30:18Speaker 6: I feel like there's a version of a bloody Mary
- 30:21Speaker 6: that could be a bloody Caesar. I feel like, Okay,
- 30:25Speaker 6: I feel like that's a thing.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I could go with that. The only other because I
- 30:29Speaker 2: like that one. It's ant Ler Bark is the other
- 30:32Speaker 2: one that this sounds like something I've heard before. Yes,
- 30:35Speaker 2: beaver tails seems too. If that's real, I think.
- 30:40Speaker 6: The vegetarian and me doesn't want that point if that's real.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Because I was gonna say there's nothing to it. It
- 30:47Speaker 2: seems like it would be like tough and leathery. But
- 30:50Speaker 2: then Antler bark.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That's what I feel about beavertail.
- 30:56Speaker 5: It's weird that you just had a beaver tail on
- 30:58Speaker 5: hand to slip against.
- 30:59Speaker 6: The esque to just like bring out.
- 31:02Speaker 4: You'll have you'll have your like selection of beavertails besides
- 31:05Speaker 4: you at all times for slapping needs.
- 31:06Speaker 6: That's not Canadian. We haven't immigrated yet, so we don't
- 31:11Speaker 6: have our beaertails. I'm cool to go with Antler bark.
- 31:14Speaker 6: That was one of the ones. I don't know why.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I just think of it feels like it'd be a
- 31:19Speaker 2: candy or something. Yes, ant La bac, that's.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Your first one. You should have gone with the Bloody Caesar. Guys,
- 31:27Speaker 4: I'm sorry that is that is no points right away.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I'm so sorry. I am breaking the special relationship.
- 31:34Speaker 6: Oh god, I need to be.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I need to put myself above a man.
- 31:42Speaker 6: What you need to do. Toxic masculinity is fun when
- 31:45Speaker 6: I do it. And we're gonna go with my answers.
- 31:48Speaker 4: There we go, So the bloody season. You're right, it
- 31:50Speaker 4: is a cocktail here. It is made from clam juice
- 31:52Speaker 4: and tomato juice, tomato juicemato or clamato, climato tomato. You
- 32:00Speaker 4: say clemato, I say clemato. I didn't apply them.
- 32:03Speaker 1: That's a thing that's called the whole thing off.
- 32:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Beavertails are a dessert item that is shaped like a beavertail.
- 32:10Speaker 4: It is a fried thing of dough, usually with some
- 32:12Speaker 4: cinnamon sugar. And I got those ballots, okay.
- 32:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:16Speaker 4: And then donair is the Halifax classic. It is some
- 32:19Speaker 4: spicy meat served in a peanut with a sauce made
- 32:23Speaker 4: from sweet and condensed milk and garlic.
- 32:25Speaker 5: Wait, so all three of them are delicious.
- 32:30Speaker 2: A donna kabab, yes, yeah, so just because you said
- 32:33Speaker 2: it with an accent, I didn't pick up on it.
- 32:35Speaker 5: I've never heard it called the way you said it.
- 32:36Speaker 5: It's a donair. Wow.
- 32:38Speaker 2: As if I didn't pick up on the fact that that.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Would just be a kebab.
- 32:42Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure doner kebab is do o n e
- 32:44Speaker 5: r versus donaire is do n ai r. I believe
- 32:47Speaker 5: they're different. I'm just not sure why. And I've actually
- 32:51Speaker 5: never put them wish together because I know donner kebabs
- 32:55Speaker 5: back home are like a thing. Yeah, we're breaking barriers, guys,
- 33:00Speaker 5: were doing the same thing.
- 33:02Speaker 4: Justic we don't do extra vowels. Oh my god, I can't.
- 33:10Speaker 4: I'm so bad that I actually got caught up with
- 33:11Speaker 4: that one. That is brilliant. Well, unfortunately, no points, but
- 33:15Speaker 4: some education. I will definitely make you a really good
- 33:18Speaker 4: beavertail and a bloody caesar when you're here, and we'll
- 33:20Speaker 4: find you some good don't air. But the caniled Adians,
- 33:25Speaker 4: I'm saying as fast as I can, so I don't
- 33:26Speaker 4: have to worry with the pronunciation.
- 33:29Speaker 5: Canile. It's the d a d a thing that's getting me.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Which ye yeah, I have your list of Canadian foods
- 33:37Speaker 4: that I'm hoping are a little more challenging.
- 33:39Speaker 5: Are you ready? That's all five of them?
- 33:46Speaker 4: You have juzuph Tortierre putting, show mere Nanmo bars and steamers.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Okay for sure? And then I'm right away Tortier is
- 34:01Speaker 5: a meat pie. All right? Well the night of bars
- 34:03Speaker 5: locked in? You got it?
- 34:04Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, you're locking in Tortier. Yeah, that's that's two.
- 34:08Speaker 4: You're up two points already, right there? Did you give
- 34:10Speaker 4: me the other three again? Other three were Duzev putting,
- 34:15Speaker 4: Chomer and steamers. I steamers sounds right, Steamers is my frog.
- 34:22Speaker 5: There's something weird.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Steamers either are like a mini hot dog, muscles or
- 34:28Speaker 4: clams or somethingh it like, or you might be right,
- 34:31Speaker 4: they could be the fucking little hot dogs.
- 34:34Speaker 5: I think it's like a little hot dog. I feel
- 34:36Speaker 5: like Steamers because I don't know cher is.
- 34:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. Both of the other ones I've
- 34:44Speaker 4: never heard before. Yeah, so we're locking in Steamers. Unfortunately
- 34:50Speaker 4: you were thinking of Steamy's the Montreal hot dog. Putting
- 34:52Speaker 4: Shaw is a delicious basically bowl of like bread soaked
- 34:57Speaker 4: in caramel.
- 35:01Speaker 6: Was the other one? Just two eggs?
- 35:03Speaker 5: Twelve eggs?
- 35:05Speaker 3: Eggs?
- 35:05Speaker 6: Sorry, sorry, it's been a while.
- 35:10Speaker 5: When you said that, I thought it was like a
- 35:11Speaker 5: Middle Eastern thing. Yeah that's yeah, Yeah, I love that.
- 35:16Speaker 5: Aught my random French. I'll have two eggs, please, damn it.
- 35:23Speaker 5: Oh my god.
- 35:24Speaker 4: Off to it off to a good start. I like
- 35:26Speaker 4: where we're going to. The guys are in steamrolling. You
- 35:29Speaker 4: guys are in steamrolling, which is good. Give a give
- 35:32Speaker 4: the special relationship a chance to catch up in our
- 35:34Speaker 4: next category, which is Canadian slang.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Okay, okay, So hope.
- 35:40Speaker 4: You've heard in media or I've made views on a
- 35:42Speaker 4: show who knows.
- 35:43Speaker 6: I watched Letter Kenny for a few of the few
- 35:47Speaker 6: of the seasons. It's the most genuinely like set in Canada.
- 35:52Speaker 6: It's the most accurate representation of my hometown I've ever seen.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Canada is calling me to be fair.
- 36:00Speaker 5: You've got big Canada energy. I will say that.
- 36:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm gonna see how I'm gonna process that later.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Well, let's see if that will pay off your list
- 36:14Speaker 4: gooser A mini Looney t and double double.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Okay, I fucked it up for a So I'm just
- 36:24Speaker 2: gonna stand in the background showing off what I think
- 36:27Speaker 2: is it.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Is this a Canadian tuxedo?
- 36:30Speaker 5: Are you wearing a.
- 36:34Speaker 3: I'm just gonna stand here and muddle this while.
- 36:37Speaker 4: I think it's gonna be t So you're locking into Yeah,
- 36:40Speaker 4: I'm gonna lock in to you were locking in the
- 36:42Speaker 4: point you were good.
- 36:44Speaker 6: And then I feel like I've heard the I've heard
- 36:47Speaker 6: double double.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I feel like I've heard that.
- 36:51Speaker 5: So we're locking in double double.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Yes, Well you've just double doubles your score r okay?
- 36:57Speaker 6: And then can you read me the other three? Because
- 36:59Speaker 6: I was so excited about those.
- 37:01Speaker 4: I'm so happy if you speak, so proud of you
- 37:04Speaker 4: everything else.
- 37:06Speaker 5: So your other three are gooser, a mini, and looney.
- 37:15Speaker 6: You know I've already won, and so I'm just gonna
- 37:20Speaker 6: go right in the middle. A mini.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Unvirtually it'll be stopping at two points, but still a
- 37:28Speaker 4: very impressive round. Thank you your mother. Real one was
- 37:31Speaker 4: a one dollar coin or is with a lune on it,
- 37:33Speaker 4: which we call a looney.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Oh but yep, the Canadian Wolfbirds, it's recently become known
- 37:42Speaker 2: from a certain queer hockey show is a sey, usually
- 37:48Speaker 2: with a pomp pop mump story.
- 37:51Speaker 4: The other gay hockey show and double w right is
- 37:56Speaker 4: two cream, two sugar, and a Tim Horton's coffee. Okay, hey,
- 38:00Speaker 4: I again, hope this list is more challenging, because this
- 38:03Speaker 4: is more fun this way. Canal Dadians, your list is Keener, Giver,
- 38:10Speaker 4: depp Rippers, and snow Monkeys. I mean Giver definitely, Yeah,
- 38:18Speaker 4: that's for sure, hardly newer, so we're locking in Giver.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:25Speaker 4: I wasn't sure how widespread that one was, so I
- 38:27Speaker 4: thought I would trip you up with that one. But yeah,
- 38:28Speaker 4: that's one point. I mean, you trip me up with
- 38:30Speaker 4: everyone else I haven't heard. I mean, like I've heard Keener,
- 38:33Speaker 4: but not yeah, I wouldn't say it's Yeah, sounds like
- 38:39Speaker 4: also Ripper.
- 38:40Speaker 5: It's like I've heard that, but I think it an
- 38:44Speaker 5: Irish since so over the other people two.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Yeah, so the remaining ones are Keener, Depp Rippers, and
- 38:54Speaker 4: snow Monkey.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Snow Monkey just sounds so racist like that. It does
- 39:02Speaker 5: have big slur energy.
- 39:06Speaker 4: That's like there's a company in Toronto called roof Monkeys
- 39:11Speaker 4: and they're like they're a they're like eaves trough like
- 39:15Speaker 4: roofing company. But every time I see it, I'm just like,
- 39:19Speaker 4: you shouldn't have done that. You should Yeah, you should
- 39:21Speaker 4: have done anything else.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Like we will clean your eves?
- 39:28Speaker 6: Is a better name for your company?
- 39:30Speaker 5: Yeah, climbers anything literally anything, Yeah.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Roof climbers doesn't if you think about it, it doesn't sound
- 39:37Speaker 2: great either.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:39Speaker 5: Right now, well let's not pick that one just in
- 39:43Speaker 5: case it is a slur.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Drews trying to trap the two white guys. Yeah, to
- 39:50Speaker 4: be like, oh, we've definitely heard that one. Got him boys,
- 39:54Speaker 4: we got them?
- 39:56Speaker 5: Do we want?
- 39:57Speaker 4: Like I think I I think Keener probably is. Yeah,
- 40:03Speaker 4: I've just only ever heard it from people or either
- 40:07Speaker 4: Irish or yeah, like you know, people not from here
- 40:11Speaker 4: but I can also hearians saying that.
- 40:18Speaker 5: So sorry, what does the one that isn't rippers or keener?
- 40:23Speaker 5: Depth is depth like French like god dip. I was
- 40:30Speaker 5: really hoping we'd get like a Tabby knack or something. Yeah,
- 40:36Speaker 5: I'm thinking it's gonna be deap. I think that's gonna
- 40:39Speaker 5: be a secret Drew one that he's putting in. But
- 40:42Speaker 5: let's go keener first. Maybe.
- 40:44Speaker 4: Yeah, my two choices would either be keener or rippers.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Cappers for sure. Rippers it's what people call strip clubs.
- 40:51Speaker 5: Yeah, that's but I thought that was an Irish thing.
- 40:54Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, I know a lot of shitty white
- 40:57Speaker 4: dudes who call it the rippers.
- 40:58Speaker 5: Okay, well that's Irish people.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I shouldn't laughter that.
- 41:06Speaker 5: Else. Goddamn that we're locking in rippers.
- 41:10Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I have it as not Canadian, but I will.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Let's let's take this to the internet real quick and
- 41:17Speaker 4: double check, because what I looked it up is Canadian
- 41:19Speaker 4: slang and nothing came up for it. Literally, everyone I
- 41:22Speaker 4: know from Barry calls it the rippers. And I'll bring
- 41:26Speaker 4: them in here, Drew, I'll do it.
- 41:28Speaker 5: Want a bunch of boys from Barry and want a
- 41:30Speaker 5: bunch of boys from Barry. Yeah, I'm getting peelers the
- 41:35Speaker 5: ballet ripped clubs, but I'm not seeing rippers anywhere. For
- 41:40Speaker 5: Canadian slang, sepers is a natural progress progression from rip
- 41:46Speaker 5: club obviously.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Who works at a rip club exactly?
- 41:52Speaker 5: Now go to a strip club? Rippers?
- 41:57Speaker 4: How how official do we want? Because I'm on urbandictionary
- 42:00Speaker 4: dot com and rippers says abbreviated form of strippers, usually
- 42:04Speaker 4: in the form of the rippers, possibly an Ontarian Anglo
- 42:08Speaker 4: saxon or Anglo Canadian slang term.
- 42:10Speaker 2: I am also seeing that, and they're my opponents, but
- 42:14Speaker 2: I do consider Urban Dictionary to be the official slang source.
- 42:18Speaker 4: It never came of my searches, but I realized I
- 42:20Speaker 4: didn't use that as a source. So I will say
- 42:22Speaker 4: the point is yours on that one. I will then
- 42:25Speaker 4: leave it to the other team. Do we want to
- 42:27Speaker 4: let them try for the other two and if they
- 42:30Speaker 4: can get both?
- 42:30Speaker 5: On another point?
- 42:31Speaker 2: I think recent precedent says that it would be they
- 42:35Speaker 2: take the point and they're frozen out, or they continue
- 42:38Speaker 2: but don't take the point. I think it's like pick
- 42:41Speaker 2: pick your poison kind of either.
- 42:42Speaker 5: Oh, I think we take the point. Take the point. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:46Speaker 5: one point just for the fund.
- 42:48Speaker 4: Do you want to guess the two that I actually
- 42:50Speaker 4: had on that list that were still real? Well one right,
- 42:53Speaker 4: because we got one well as a fake.
- 42:56Speaker 5: There was one of the two fake one is supposed
- 42:58Speaker 5: to be a fake one. I think he was one
- 43:02Speaker 5: of them.
- 43:03Speaker 4: So yes, Keener, According to everything I could find, is
- 43:05Speaker 4: a Canadian slang term, it's where it originated from and
- 43:07Speaker 4: is a Canadian thing in spread beyond us, good for us.
- 43:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I could have sworn, like that's such a thing
- 43:14Speaker 5: we say in Ireland. Yeah, it's literally like a person
- 43:16Speaker 5: who's right to me? It is like watching the Amazing
- 43:22Speaker 5: Race Canada.
- 43:22Speaker 4: It's like the cash phrase for every team from the Maritimes,
- 43:25Speaker 4: Like it's all they fucking say.
- 43:27Speaker 5: Well, what does it make sense? Like just being over eager,
- 43:32Speaker 5: like over eager, energetic, I want to get this done. Like,
- 43:36Speaker 5: but is it like derogatory because we use a very
- 43:38Speaker 5: derogatory thing here.
- 43:40Speaker 4: Oh no, we usually like you know what I mean, like.
- 43:48Speaker 6: Like someone who's like really excited about gym class exactly. Yeah,
- 43:52Speaker 6: so excited to the point where it's like.
- 43:55Speaker 5: Well not even gym class, because at least then maybe
- 43:57Speaker 5: they're sporty, but like if they're really excited about math class,
- 44:03Speaker 5: you're key.
- 44:04Speaker 4: This is like surfer dude who's like getting everyone jazzed
- 44:07Speaker 4: up to go on a road trip or like to
- 44:08Speaker 4: a music festival.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Kind of. It's funny that the Irish twist tont is
- 44:12Speaker 5: to make it miserable at me. Oh, I'm not going
- 44:17Speaker 5: to go there with thank you, thank you, uh.
- 44:21Speaker 4: And I will just say the last one you were righted.
- 44:23Speaker 4: As a Quebecer term, it is Depth, which is short
- 44:25Speaker 4: for Deppener, which is a convenience store in Quebec. You
- 44:29Speaker 4: go to the Depth pick up some booze. That's what
- 44:31Speaker 4: you do every night of the week. Okay, I mean Quebec,
- 44:38Speaker 4: like most of the world, is a big drinking culture.
- 44:42Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 44:43Speaker 4: Okay. Last, I'm so excited for this one. I have
- 44:46Speaker 4: here a list for both of you of some amazing
- 44:49Speaker 4: Canadian cities.
- 44:52Speaker 5: Special relationship. Are you ready?
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yes, we specialize in geographic diplomacy.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Dildo.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Okay, I wasn't ready for that.
- 45:04Speaker 4: I'll restart for safety, Dildo, ox nerd white Horse, Pound Cove,
- 45:12Speaker 4: red Wood.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 45:16Speaker 5: Reading my search history the Rippers for.
- 45:25Speaker 2: I feel like some of the silly ones have some
- 45:28Speaker 2: of the red ones have to be real, otherwise they
- 45:30Speaker 2: wouldn't remotely be there.
- 45:31Speaker 3: So I feel like Dildo or pound Cove are real.
- 45:34Speaker 6: Dildo or Yeah, I feel like one of those has
- 45:37Speaker 6: got to be real.
- 45:38Speaker 2: There's an Oxnard in California, Yeah, but that could also
- 45:42Speaker 2: be one in Canada.
- 45:44Speaker 6: There's a Springfield in every state, so there there simply
- 45:49Speaker 6: must be two ox Nerds.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Dildo seems insane to just put on the list as
- 45:55Speaker 2: like a fake noun if it's not the name of
- 46:00Speaker 2: a city.
- 46:01Speaker 5: Uh huh.
- 46:02Speaker 2: But I don't want to lead with dilta, I'll lead
- 46:05Speaker 2: with dildo.
- 46:06Speaker 5: Okay, that's your right as a woman.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Yes, thank you, Dildo.
- 46:14Speaker 4: Dilda Newfoundland is a real place. I will be there
- 46:17Speaker 4: in a few weeks.
- 46:18Speaker 5: Exact. There's there's a brewery in Dildo that I'm pretty
- 46:23Speaker 5: sure make more money just selling their merch than they
- 46:26Speaker 5: do selling beer, because like globally, people are like yes,
- 46:29Speaker 5: Dildo brewing.
- 46:30Speaker 4: They have put so much money into like their town signage,
- 46:35Speaker 4: because it keeps getting stolen, they have to make it
- 46:37Speaker 4: more elaborate and harder to steal.
- 46:40Speaker 8: Go to bolt those dildos down, Colorado has to their
- 46:45Speaker 8: four twenty road signs where it's like mile four twenty,
- 46:49Speaker 8: they now have to do it's four nineteen point nine
- 46:52Speaker 8: to nine because they just really.
- 46:55Speaker 5: That's more what I want that. It's far funnier.
- 46:58Speaker 6: That's a lot cooler. One of those surprisingly worked.
- 47:03Speaker 2: You could open up a seventies trouser store in way.
- 47:08Speaker 2: I'm working on this, a seventies trouser store in Dildo
- 47:12Speaker 2: called flat Bass.
- 47:16Speaker 3: I like that word.
- 47:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:20Speaker 3: I pinted halfway through and was like, white.
- 47:23Speaker 5: I appreciate that. You you knew you had something.
- 47:26Speaker 4: You just had to get your hands on, hands on
- 47:31Speaker 4: the flared base, a vacuum store.
- 47:38Speaker 6: Business blow.
- 47:43Speaker 5: Oh you still have foest cities. I needed to figure
- 47:45Speaker 5: out the two more.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Could you repeat the list please?
- 47:47Speaker 4: I feel like that's pretty warned. That would be Oxnard,
- 47:50Speaker 4: white Horse, Pound Cove, and Redwood.
- 47:57Speaker 6: I feel like, once upon a time can't have probably
- 48:00Speaker 6: had the same big trees that we have. Okay, so
- 48:04Speaker 6: maybe Redwood, maybe Redwood. I just feel I just feel
- 48:09Speaker 6: like they must have had some big old trees.
- 48:12Speaker 2: It's true we've gone with one phallic one already, but
- 48:15Speaker 2: maybe it's a very phallic country and we just didn't realize.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I connect with Canada. Let's go with Redwood.
- 48:24Speaker 5: Walk it in Redwood.
- 48:25Speaker 4: Yeah, you should have gone for Pound Cove, Baby, No,
- 48:30Speaker 4: Redwood is made up. Ox Art is in California, but
- 48:33Speaker 4: there is no Oxtart in Canada. And then the capital
- 48:37Speaker 4: of oh my god, the territories. Sorry is a white horse?
- 48:44Speaker 5: Oh oh?
- 48:45Speaker 4: Also a Taylor Swift song coincidence? But yeah no, also
- 48:51Speaker 4: this game, this game was purely for dildough. Ye yeah, happy,
- 48:55Speaker 4: I got it, I got I got it in.
- 48:58Speaker 5: You are correct, though, we do have massive redwood forks,
- 49:01Speaker 5: so you're not wrong. And you're thinking.
- 49:04Speaker 6: Certain that you.
- 49:07Speaker 5: Treasure Yeah, my canial dadians, I think I'm butering every
- 49:14Speaker 5: time I say, even more than the last time. Do
- 49:16Speaker 5: you want to see how a phallic your list? Yets,
- 49:18Speaker 5: I can't wait. Your list is Moose Factory, Saint Louis
- 49:25Speaker 5: the haha, Moose depot plug and climax that this is
- 49:34Speaker 5: a bullshit list you've given us jokes. Can we go
- 49:38Speaker 5: with Moose Factory because I want that to be real?
- 49:40Speaker 5: With every grain responded to. That was so fucking flit
- 49:46Speaker 5: from uh no quest right there was chattled it perfectly
- 49:49Speaker 5: for a moment. Yeah, there's a moose jaw, which is
- 49:54Speaker 5: far more understandable than a moose factory and a moose depot.
- 49:59Speaker 5: Moose depot, Yeah, that sucks. Which one? It's got to
- 50:02Speaker 5: be one of them unless they're both there to fuck
- 50:05Speaker 5: us up.
- 50:06Speaker 4: I feel like the whatever the haha? Yeah, that's a
- 50:10Speaker 4: weird one. But then it's maybe it's just Drew laughing
- 50:12Speaker 4: at us. Look at his face right now.
- 50:17Speaker 5: What do you think is the most realistic? Fuck? Man?
- 50:20Speaker 4: These all suck. There's one on forgetting time I needs, Like,
- 50:27Speaker 4: I'm going to go into the map, like the Canadian
- 50:34Speaker 4: version of Dora's Monkey has brought you a map and
- 50:36Speaker 4: you're gonna final that map. Moose factory, Saint Louis dahaha,
- 50:42Speaker 4: Moose depot plug, Climax. Moose depot is a d E
- 50:50Speaker 4: p O T. That is the spelling I have here, Okay,
- 50:55Speaker 4: factor like d E p A yeah something like that.
- 51:02Speaker 5: Yeah it's French French moose, but moose and French is.
- 51:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Man, I feel like I feel like I have heard
- 51:13Speaker 4: of climax, but I don't know if it's Canadian.
- 51:17Speaker 5: I'm assume imber seeing jump into my mind pals with me, Drew.
- 51:22Speaker 5: Drew is fucking with us with two of the categories, right,
- 51:25Speaker 5: because there's a moose depot, moose factory. I refuse to
- 51:27Speaker 5: believe there's both, so one of them is correct. Right
- 51:31Speaker 5: then plug and Climax are similar, you know, short sexual names,
- 51:35Speaker 5: so one of those is correct, leaving us the third
- 51:39Speaker 5: correct one, which is, of course Saint Louis to haha.
- 51:42Speaker 4: Okay, thet's if that's if you think that that's for sure?
- 51:48Speaker 4: Should we lock it at him first and try to
- 51:49Speaker 4: whittle down the I think, I think, I think so
- 51:52Speaker 4: that was seemed to be your first Yeah, let's do
- 51:56Speaker 4: Saint Louis de haahatigan.
- 52:00Speaker 5: As a dangerous game boys, but it paid off. You're good.
- 52:03Speaker 4: That is a real place. I will remind you. It
- 52:05Speaker 4: is spelt with exclamation marks. It is actually spelled ha
- 52:08Speaker 4: exclamation mark space ha exclamation what this is a real fucking.
- 52:12Speaker 5: Points Damn that sounds a joke, low hanging fruit the
- 52:19Speaker 5: kind name light there. I'm betting.
- 52:22Speaker 4: You still have moose factory, Moose depot, and then plug
- 52:25Speaker 4: in Climax, which you have decided it has to be
- 52:27Speaker 4: only one of each, apparent.
- 52:28Speaker 5: Yes, I'm assuming I'm assuming. I'm worried that it's both moose.
- 52:34Speaker 5: I was thinking it might be no moose.
- 52:38Speaker 4: I if I have to, if I have to guess
- 52:40Speaker 4: between plug and climax, I'm gonna go plug, because I
- 52:43Speaker 4: really do.
- 52:43Speaker 5: I'm looking.
- 52:44Speaker 4: I remember seeing a map and there's like a there's
- 52:47Speaker 4: like a trail of somewhere that is like it's like,
- 52:50Speaker 4: you know, squirt Island and like what you know what
- 52:53Speaker 4: I mean, and it's like it's like a very sexual
- 52:55Speaker 4: path through somewhere.
- 52:56Speaker 5: I feel like, yeah, I think I was in squirt
- 53:02Speaker 5: Lake because I think I remember taking an Instagram picture
- 53:06Speaker 5: and being like neck deep and squirt. So there is
- 53:11Speaker 5: a squirt lake. I don't know, man, And sometimes you
- 53:15Speaker 5: plug it squirt you pick the mon okay, well look
- 53:23Speaker 5: it with me on this desion. One of us always
- 53:27Speaker 5: has to go sex. The O don't has to go moose.
- 53:30Speaker 5: Do you think depot depot is weird? Do you think
- 53:34Speaker 5: he's saw weird? Do you think he saw a Moose
- 53:36Speaker 5: factory and thought home depot Moose depot hahaha? Or did
- 53:41Speaker 5: moose depot which came first? The deepot or the factory.
- 53:45Speaker 4: I'm gonna have to retail factory. I'm gonna lead towards factory,
- 53:49Speaker 4: and I lead towards plug. Those are where I stand.
- 53:51Speaker 5: Wait, is depot a French word, even if it's spelled normally,
- 53:56Speaker 5: I mean, I imagine probably from.
- 53:58Speaker 3: Yeah, say moose depot.
- 54:03Speaker 2: What do you?
- 54:04Speaker 5: What do you think? You see it? Do it? Do it?
- 54:06Speaker 5: Do it?
- 54:06Speaker 2: Do you?
- 54:06Speaker 5: You picked the sex one first, though, I think.
- 54:09Speaker 4: Yeah, plug, I think it's plug, So we locking in
- 54:12Speaker 4: plug first? Ye, let's do it, Okay, locking the plug in,
- 54:15Speaker 4: that's uh, I'm securing the plug.
- 54:18Speaker 5: The plug. The plug is secure before the Moose gets here.
- 54:21Speaker 5: It's locked. It's too late.
- 54:25Speaker 4: We can't take the plug out. You haven't and even
- 54:28Speaker 4: if you could, you'd have been wrong either way. Moose
- 54:31Speaker 4: depot is not a real place, nor is plug, but
- 54:35Speaker 4: is real, and Moose Factory has an old navy.
- 54:37Speaker 5: My wife hast shipped package is too before. Wow, double
- 54:42Speaker 5: bluffed me with your factory depot bullship.
- 54:45Speaker 2: But at least Moose factory, Yeah, you've you've made me
- 54:50Speaker 2: very happy. At least we can move Moose Factory now.
- 54:55Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, we could start a compound.
- 55:00Speaker 4: Whatever we would do for a living moosesnis. Oh, that
- 55:06Speaker 4: is the end of round one. Let's ask the trailer
- 55:09Speaker 4: park boys to calculate the scores. Oh, they just grabbed
- 55:12Speaker 4: the points and traded them to some guy for smokes
- 55:14Speaker 4: in a cheeseburger.
- 55:15Speaker 5: Final. Do the math myself.
- 55:17Speaker 4: The special relationships are on three points, but the Canial
- 55:21Speaker 4: Dadians are on a nice set of five.
- 55:25Speaker 3: That checks out. That makes sense.
- 55:26Speaker 5: This tracks there, you go. Oh, closer than it probably
- 55:30Speaker 5: should be.
- 55:31Speaker 4: But I'm very happy. How closest was. I'm glad I
- 55:35Speaker 4: worked this out up. Next is round two. If you're
- 55:38Speaker 4: listening on the public feed, it'll be after these ads,
- 55:41Speaker 4: but if you head to patreon dot com slash kate
- 55:43Speaker 4: Leapers you can listen ad free now for our French
- 55:46Speaker 4: Quebec wall listeners la who Patreon point com gate Leapers.
- 55:51Speaker 5: But snack there. It is.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Back to round two. Round two is called Hosers and
- 56:06Speaker 4: the Beast. In this new game, each team will be
- 56:09Speaker 4: presented with a classic Canadian event or festival and they
- 56:13Speaker 4: will need to come up with a mascot for said
- 56:15Speaker 4: event or festival. Teams will describe said mascot going back
- 56:18Speaker 4: and forth one word each. They will earn up to
- 56:21Speaker 4: five points based on their creation and a bonus point
- 56:24Speaker 4: may be earned if they get close enough to the
- 56:26Speaker 4: actual mascot of said event.
- 56:29Speaker 5: Does that make sense?
- 56:30Speaker 3: Hmmm, I think so.
- 56:32Speaker 2: One word at a time. Pitch you a mascot for
- 56:35Speaker 2: a in a Canadian event.
- 56:38Speaker 4: Yeah, nothing happened. There were no sudden cuts in the video.
- 56:40Speaker 4: What are you talking about? Everything's fine?
- 56:42Speaker 5: Shut up.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Uh.
- 56:44Speaker 5: That's a good hosting right, that's a weird way to
- 56:46Speaker 5: insure the segment.
- 56:48Speaker 3: No, I can use that.
- 56:49Speaker 6: I can that.
- 56:50Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, So in the first round of round twos
- 56:54Speaker 4: Hosers and the Beast, we will have the special relationships.
- 56:57Speaker 4: Give me the mascot for the Quebec Winter Carnival.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Our mascot for the Quebec Winter Carnival is a big
- 57:10Speaker 2: snow man.
- 57:12Speaker 9: With a even bigger hat. That special hat is magic.
- 57:24Speaker 2: And revitalizes the local community using the power of.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Maple syrup. Made us say it you like?
- 57:41Speaker 5: Doing a second letter is perfect. I love it. I
- 57:47Speaker 5: genuinely love it, and I will reveal to you now
- 57:49Speaker 5: the actual winter Carnival. What hat.
- 58:00Speaker 3: The little sash?
- 58:02Speaker 6: You were gonna say, okay, out of the sash, we
- 58:10Speaker 6: don't have to talk.
- 58:10Speaker 5: About okay, Well, like I'm not gonna lie. This festival
- 58:14Speaker 5: probably does stimulate the local economy. It really does. It's
- 58:18Speaker 5: why it was revitalized. The biggest thing this this part
- 58:20Speaker 5: of Quebec has I guys, I think I have to
- 58:24Speaker 5: give you the full five points and sixth the bonus
- 58:27Speaker 5: point for nailing the mascot. Yes, in our next round.
- 58:32Speaker 5: Now it's gonna be sabotaged only it is the thing
- 58:37Speaker 5: I saw. Let's see what you get. I should also
- 58:42Speaker 5: add this was the original mascot.
- 58:46Speaker 3: That's a scary white dude.
- 58:52Speaker 5: Point of order. Yeah, they get six points. Maybe they shouldn't.
- 58:55Speaker 5: They said, snowman, this is a snow ultra horror. And
- 59:00Speaker 5: they did say the hat was even bigger than even bigger. Yeah,
- 59:04Speaker 5: it is a big hat, but it isn't bigger than him.
- 59:07Speaker 5: I'm a big hat. I never said it was that big.
- 59:11Speaker 5: They said even bigger hat. Yeah, bigger than a regular
- 59:17Speaker 5: sore loser.
- 59:20Speaker 6: That hat is big in the community.
- 59:23Speaker 5: I mean his hat's pretty big too. Oh okay, even
- 59:28Speaker 5: bigger is in like it has more fame. Okay, right,
- 59:31Speaker 5: that's not knowing who the guy in the photo is.
- 59:34Speaker 5: He's probably something like prime minister. I don't know. Let's
- 59:38Speaker 5: see the Quebec.
- 59:39Speaker 4: He's done some crime, mister Quebec himself, the man who
- 59:43Speaker 4: invented maple syrup and hockey.
- 59:46Speaker 5: Someone.
- 59:48Speaker 4: Okay, the Canial Dadiens, you will be giving me the
- 59:52Speaker 4: mascot for the Halifax Oyster Festival.
- 59:55Speaker 5: I do know the answers to this because I can
- 59:58Speaker 5: see the future. So I'm gonna say, ah, rippling thing
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: made of muscles and beautiful pieces of pretty hair that
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: listens wetley in the son.
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: When the Halifax Oyster Festival end, I'll call time.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: There is it a giant pearl? Perhaps true? So I realized,
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: I'm like, what did you? Oh I have I know
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: what's written there? That is not what it is at all.
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: That's that is. That is her name. Her name is Pearl.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: A massive, wriggling, wet hair and muscle damion could still
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: be in.
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: Get it right, anatomically correct multi eyed oyster. Jesus an
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: eldridch fucking horror, Jesus Christ. That's a dark soul's boss.
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: What that looks like a biblical angel of the sea.
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: I do see wet, glistening hair coming out the back
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: of that thing. Yeah, and muscles.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Mullish definition to those likes.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: Is it like a shellfish Clinton, Yeah, I can definitely
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: say that is a solid three points.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: Take it, maybe even four because Dane's ominous ends has
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: a certain you know, Eldridge fear to it that this
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: thing also brings right.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Yeah, even looks as the usual host. I've got to
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: say that felt like point Yeah.
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: That was Oh yeah, no, that was You are too
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: kind hair. The hair is it's crazy. Yeah, no, I'm
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: giving you that one because she is one.
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: Oh my god, look at the gams.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: Little sucks. We couldn't it's still been right. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: those lips.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: It's.
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: God, don't by me. I just got to find out
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: if there's any romance novels about the mascot of the
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: Halifax Oyster Festival.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: Well, judging by the look on your face, there soon
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: to be one.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: If there's gonna be any competition in the market.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Time is going to be.
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: The Pearl slash Vic. Okay, back to the special relationships.
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: Your next round is going to be just for laughs.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: Comedy festival. One order a time. You have roughly thirty seconds.
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: I'm not being super lean on the clock because this
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: is fun. Go ahead when you're ready.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: The mascot for the just for laughs comedy festival is
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: going to be.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: Ok.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: The Ricky.
- 1:03:14Speaker 10: Yours because he is technically French, I think, or maybe
- 1:03:26Speaker 10: he is rich.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Yes, that's it, he's rich, I.
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: Keep going.
- 1:03:39Speaker 11: That means he has power and can influence what we
- 1:03:48Speaker 11: decide is correct comedy.
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: I will cut you both off there. I'm gonna say,
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: not close at all, but there is something. There is something.
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: You have something going there, and I'll tell you what.
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: I can give you points for this.
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: Oh, it's an idiot with a big mouth, so we
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: were right.
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: I was gonna say, it's a creepy monster who thinks
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: it's funny.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: I think that's all six points, right, true.
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: I think you misheard them, they said, Vicky Gervas, Vicky
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: Victor Gervas. Sorry, did you not hear them?
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: No, I mustn't have heard them.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: I also was busy thinking of his wife Rose, because
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: there's a girl one too.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: Why wouldn't there be Why is the girl on a
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: different material? I think I think I just couldn't find
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: any other photos in the same costume. But it's the
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: different they're usually animated on screen, and.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Ricky Gervas likes that there's one boy one and one
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: girl one. Then that's it, that's what he likes.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Mm hmmm.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: Also they're married. Uh, canonically, that's a fact. That's all
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: they're wiki.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: I like that they're happy.
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: I can definitely say we don't know they're happening. We
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: just know that they're married. I'm smiling.
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: That's fair. We know he's Oh god, we could delve
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: into this.
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: We know he's happy, he's really happy, and she seems
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: like she's just kind of getting by.
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: This is this could be performative. This is like Instagram.
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: This is every couple that looks this happy is miserable.
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: Don't no one clip right eye right now?
- 1:05:23Speaker 6: Her her little face going, I'm spying.
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: Smiling with teeth. Yeah, you were doing a real victor
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: right there. Oh that is that is the clipper getting
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: for this episode, isn't it. I'll be honest.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: I was starting this with two points one four thinks
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: it's funny and two for being a monster. But I
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: think I think there's something something is giving me, like
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: the pull of a third point. I can't put my
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: finger on it, but there's something about the two of
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: you right now. I think I think I can do
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: I do a solid three on that one can I
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: heal dadians. I was afraid this is being easy games.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: I wanted to give you a real curve ball the
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: World War One Canadian Army Veterinary.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Corps, veterinary.
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: Veterinary Okay, not that, okay, okay, okay. I also read
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: that wrong. For a hot second, I was like, yikes,
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: maybe it's a clue. This Dalmatian is so hot, uncomfortably hot,
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: in sparse but flattering fatigues. It won't bite, but will
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: if you ask. I think I'm okay in there with
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: the Dalmatian and army fatigues who will bite you if
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: you asked you to? Yeah, weirdly hot, let's be sure. Yeah,
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: I'm thinking like, you know, the animated like Robin hood Fox. Yeah,
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: if that was a Dalmatian that looked after World War One,
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: a kind of slutty fatigues. Yeah, I'm thinking clothing spars, fatigue.
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: We all knew they were slutty.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: I'm meant to reveal first and explained my points afterwards,
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: because you touched on something very weirdly.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: Specific about it is Dalmatian.
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: No, this is Winnipeg Bear, a young female black bear
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: cub purchased for twenty Canadian dollars and a string stop
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: in Ontario, eventually finding a home and living out the
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: rest of her days in the UK at the London Zoo.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Are nicknamed Winnie for short, and was the inspiration for
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: a certain popular.
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: Bear which I said sparse clothing, spars clothing, and you
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: referenced a Disney animated project. M I'm saying minimum mirrors
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: two points. I would say maximum is six.
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: Getting to those points, I just wanted to yell about
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: the fact that Winnie the Pooh is a fucking Canadian
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: icon and was basically stolen by Brits like Pokahontess.
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: You can.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: You can take all land that we took, but you'll
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: never take our best.
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: She was our bear. First he had to go fight
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: the French, so we left the bear in the UK
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: for you. Okay, some child called it Winny, and some
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: dude wrote a book about it, and then Disney made
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: billions off copyright. Now I was expecting a like mascot style. Yeah,
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: I don't know. You didn't get it. No, but you're
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: still getting two points for it because you did touch
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: on some very interesting things.
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: I'm gonna say even a third point.
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: I think one point for the solid character you created,
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: because I think in Dalmati and Fatigues, who's weirdly hot,
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: it was kind of a goodly different mascot back then
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: would have been yeah, yeah, I'll be honest. I forgot
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: I had another slide now that was over, so I'm
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: just gonna say yeah. I was gonna say he's crazy
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: that you put this up and then said us, yeah,
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: I see solid moment where I forgot to say, Now
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: to Woody with the scores and of course everything's fine,
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: nothing can go wrong here. This is a perfectly normal
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: Tree see the new versions a lot better, and has
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: nothing wrong about him at all that we have to
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: worry about. Maybe we'll get someone else to do the
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: scores for us, real quick, guys. Tree removed and scores counted.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: The Special Relationships find themselves on twelve points and the
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: Canal Datians find themselves on twelve points.
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: It's a tie game, baby.
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: Special Relationship Round three is next, after a message from
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: concerned children's advertisers featuring tiny hippos that live in your
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: closet and a song about not putting face in your mouth.
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: Round three we'll see our teams take some classic pulp
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: culture media of their choosing and reboot it for Canadian audience.
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: In a game that I am calling a boot a reboot,
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: each team will get two minutes to pitch me the
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: head of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation their idea for a reboot.
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: Not sure what makes a TV or film more Canadian?
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: Just do what America does and play up some stereotypes.
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: What could go wrong?
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: I will have the Special Relationship go first. If they
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: would like, you can pick any piece of media U
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: see fit, give me the Canadian version of it. I
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: don't have an on screen timer, so you'll have to
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: just believe me when I tell you I'm doing a
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: timer on the side over here.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: We will believe you.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: You will have two minutes, and as classic gate liber
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: twists go, I will tell you when to switch.
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: Are we ready to start? Yeah?
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: Why not, let's do it.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: There's no time like present.
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: Well, the present is.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Now, okay, So we are pitching a Canadian reboot of
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: the hit ABC drama series Lost, because if that flight
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: had gone between Canada and Australia compared to the US
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: and Australia, it would have been an entirely different story switch.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: And it would have been genuinely a lot kinder.
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: But also I think that maybe they would have maybe
- 1:11:28Speaker 6: they would have built a beacon, maybe they would have
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: built a bigger fire to get like some ah, some recognition.
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: Actually they wouldn't have because of all the things that
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: happened later and.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Lost Switch and all those things that happened later in
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Lost include still the polar bear that stays, because Canada
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: has a lot of polar bears. But one thing that's
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: got to change is that giant smoke monster, because that
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: reminds us too much of the Canadian wildfires, and we
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: cannot be putting that in front of a Canadian audience
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: right now.
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: It might it might cause uproar in the community, as
- 1:12:04Speaker 6: it should. A valid and very democratic and very strongly
- 1:12:11Speaker 6: worded letter could be written to ABC if we include
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: a smoke monster. Now, some things that we could include
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: is a big moose.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Switch, and a big moose is terrorizing John Locke who's
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: called John Locke a and also Jack Shepherd who's called
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Jack Shepherd ah, and the big moose is terrorizing them
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: around the forest until they find a mysterious hatch in
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: the middle of the second and.
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: In that hatch is all of the secrets that the
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: English government has been keeping to prevent Canada from becoming
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: an independent nation until surprisingly recently. Let's be real and
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: in that hatch there's just a lot of English officials
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: and maybe.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: That is your time. But when I ended I lost
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: with the most pandering ass names you can come up with.
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: I think I lose my mind in this heat.
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I felt myself going crazy.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: I was just thinking, I've seen a lot of Canadian
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: media but flights going down mostly in Newfoundland. So I
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: mean like you were onto something there with that one. Okay,
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna give that a good three points.
- 1:13:30Speaker 6: I like this.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: I think lost in Canada where it's just it's not
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: nearly as traumatic. But there's just a big moose, which
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: is those supernaturally scary as ship They're huge.
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: Oh yeah, they like they will kill you. Get if
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: you didn't fuck you up? A moose once locked me
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: in the bathroom.
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: Whoathing else they'll saything else. I wonder, I wonder how
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: this round's gonna go. Uh, if you want, I just
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: think I'll quickly because it sounds insane. We saw moose,
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: my first moose ever, I was like, holy shit, that's
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: a fucking moose moose in the water. Oh my god,
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: the moose is huge. This is amazing. The moose walking
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: up there. Oh my god, the moose is a baby. Wow,
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: let's be responsible and walk away because you know, I
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: go to the bathroom. I go back to the front
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: of the park where we were hiking, walk into the bathroom.
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: Bathroom is really smelly, it's awful. It's like a single
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: stall bathroom, like at the edge of the car park.
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: As I go in, I hear wha wha and like commotion,
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: and then my partner goes no. I'm like, yeah, don't
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: go out of the bathroom. What the baby moosa outside?
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: So the baby moose stood right outside the bathroom where
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: if I had come out, I would be in massive
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: ramming range because the mom would have been like, oh,
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: get the fuck away. So I had to sit in
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: this bathroom. Why didn't said? I stood? Because it was
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: gross until the moose went away. And it sucks because
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: everyone got to have that. I could hear everyone having
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: this transcendent, beautiful moment. I was like, Wow, it's so cute.
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: Mother Nature's amazing gets beautiful. I'm just standing in a
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: dark stinky toilet waiting to not die when I leave.
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: That is so good. Yeah.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: Oh, let's see how that your your reboot compares. Yeah,
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: you follow it. The naighty is, I can't do this.
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: You have two minutes on the clock to pitch me
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: your Canadian a fied reboot of a thing.
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: Your time starts now, I've got a Canadian reboot. It's
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: breaking bad.
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: A teacher gets cancer and gets free healthcare and is
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: immediately cured of cancer. Uh, it completely removes the drama.
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: It's a sitcom now about a teacher bonding with his
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: former student who's like a troubled troubled youth. It has
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: nothing to do with drugs. It has nothing to do
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: with meth. It is just a fairly wholesome, like male
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: role model show in which Walt begins mentoring Jesse Pinkman
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: Switch sorry, I got so entholic and switch guy.
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: Yeah. Without the outlet of crime and danger and desperation,
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: Walt has to find healthy and positive ways to kind
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: of like reclaim kind of like control over his life
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: and like all the ways in life in which he
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: feels like emasculated and dealing with them in a healthy,
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: positive way, working forward with his marriage and then re
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: kind of like switch.
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: He you know, ends up realizing that, oh, his time
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: is short. He gets a second cell phone in order
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: to sort of write love letters to Skyler from like
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: an anonymous source to kind of like pretend like reinvigorate,
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: act like they're just meeting for the first.
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: Time, and he asks her does she like pinaclaudas does
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: she like getting caught in a toilet when a moose
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: outside blocks the exit, And it actually leads to this
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: like really beautiful love story between the two of them,
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: and Jesse Pinkman is waiting in the back of the
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: bar when they meet. He's actually the DJ. He plays
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: their song when they walk in. She actually kind of
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: comes on board, becomes friends with him too, and they
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: really just twenty seconds.
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: The song that they fall in love to is Mister
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: Blue Sky Again, going back to the name of the meth.
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: It all ties up really nicely. It is just a
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: absolute loving story. It's kind of like Shit's Creak at
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: the end of it, where it's just like it becomes
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: this wholesome Canadian story of finding your family and time.
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: But I cannot, in my good can just give you
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: less of the full five points for that. That was
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: fucking splendid. Yeah, that was a masterclass.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: I really enjoyed Drew how which you forgot about the
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: fallmat point of switching because he was so enthralled, like.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: Taken aback, whole was still I was so ready to
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: jump in there was like, give.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: It to me.
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: You had a captive Canadian audience. You fucking did the homework.
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: He's saying all the good ship true, which is pretty
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: much impossible for a Canadian TV show. So we're doing
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: edd Raffer did pretty good.
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: Ice. I was thinking of reboot, which is another Honestly,
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: there was a part was like if someone doesn't reboot,
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: reboot all a good laugh, but it's already Canadian exactly.
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why I was like free on YouTube now,
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: nake it, fuck it. I'm planning to rewatch one of
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: these days. Oh boy, those ideas were so good that
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: our other markets want in on the Canadian cash cow.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: Let's get some more pitches, one more from each team,
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: but this time for another product outside of media properties.
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: Go wild.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: Anything and everything is on the table. What is Canada lacking?
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: And how are you gonna bring it to them? I
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: will flip things around.
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: Let the start this one off.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: Thank God, you can pick anything your heart desires, you
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: can think of and give me the Canadian version of
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: it to make things a little bit tighter. I'm only
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: giving you one minute and I'll be a little better
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: on the vigilance of the switching. And you're let me
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: know you ready to go. Your time starts now.
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: Guns. Our neighbors have them. Why can't we? You see
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: how well it works down South? Everybody's armed, and you
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: know what, and the only stopping bad people is good
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: people with guns. And so the bad people already have them,
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: So why shouldn't the good people have them?
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: Which, sure, we don't really have any school shootings, but
- 1:19:38Speaker 5: you know what, if we do, we're gonna want to
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: have the guns to prevent that them. That's how it.
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: That's how it works. There's also other things we could
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: make sure that it feels really Canadian. They could be
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: maple syrup scented. They could be red and white. Instead
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: of bullets, they could shoot maple syrup. Also, I just
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: make people sticky, which some might are you is worse
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: than getting shot with a real bullet.
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: Blood sticky. Also, when you pull the trigger, it says.
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, and so already you've made the
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: situation better.
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: Sure, you shot a dude, but at least you've apologized.
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: That is your time. I'll be honest you. This was
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: what I expected from some one of the teams. I
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: was like ready to say, nope, I'm not cool with this,
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: but you really, you you sold me.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: Up how it happens, you.
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: So fucking down.
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: I can't give you them full five because I don't
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: approve guns, but I think I think I can let
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: Forrest slide on this one for the sorry.
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: I think really sent to the d end there for me.
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: Oh wow, that one. I knew it was coming. I
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: knew it was coming. Guys, I was great. I'm so sorry.
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: Special relationships. I hope you have something in mind outside
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: of guns.
- 1:21:02Speaker 5: Please. Yeah, And God knows, I'm gonna regret this one
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: in a moment, but you ready.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: I'm so ready.
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: Your time starts now.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: You can rest easy. It's not guns.
- 1:21:14Speaker 6: I think Canadians are too reckless because they don't have
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: to pay for healthcare. So I think that Canadians need
- 1:21:21Speaker 6: incredibly expensive healthcare.
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: Oh that healthcare is going to be so expensive.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: If you just say, fracture your toe, that's gonna cost
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: one million billion Canadian dollars, which I think is about
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: the same as.
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: At at least forty five double doubles tis. I have
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: no idea how much those cost, but I just think
- 1:21:47Speaker 6: that if we increase the price of medical care in Canada.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: They'll be more careful.
- 1:21:52Speaker 6: Maybe they won't, maybe they won't slip on the maple
- 1:21:56Speaker 6: syrup that comes out of their new guns.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: Switch ten seconds, and after they slip on the maple
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: syrup guns, they're gonna break all of the bones and spleens.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: And then they're gonna go into the hospital and the
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: hospital will be like, Hey, we're for profit. Now, that's
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: what we do because it's fun, because rich people exist.
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: That is your time.
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: Oh, it's amazing that it's legitimately talking point for the
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: rite out here and then the thing they're actually fucking
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: pitching fun.
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: That's crazy. I'm so sorry.
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: Oh yeah, the privatized healthcare is the thing they want
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: because it'll be better and more efficient clearly for their wallets.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: Yep, that's their only argument, and I just made it,
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: but very solid.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: Referencing Niles injury and bringing us back to the double
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: doubles is the point of reference. What is the double
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: double nol like for four or six bucks horns? I
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: don't shop there.
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: Oh yeah, horns their partner with jk Rowling, and that's
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: the ship.
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: I hate him. I like to miss gender jk Rowling.
- 1:22:56Speaker 6: I think it's funny.
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: Important.
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: We need to find their their actual name and use
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: that because jk Rowen is a chosen name.
- 1:23:03Speaker 5: Clearly.
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: That is the end of round three. Let's have an
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: authentic Newfoundland fisherman calculate the scores. Oh, he's thirty minute
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: late due to the time zones and sounds like he's
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: speaking an entirely made up language despite claiming it's English.
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: So I'll just do it for him. The special Relationships
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: are on twenty points, but the coniledadiens have creeped up
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: ahead with an extra point at twenty one. I did
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: write a next line here. I was like, I didn't
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: write a transition line. Fuck, And then I your scrolled
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: down and I had done it.
- 1:23:34Speaker 6: That's true Matt fashion.
- 1:23:35Speaker 5: If you would have been like, oh yeah, I was like,
- 1:23:38Speaker 5: I'm about to have a moment, like I pull a
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: Matt and we're gonna write a thing.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: Damn things and just copepasteed. How can I then he
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: must have forgotten that one too. Science exactly. It's not
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: all fake, Yes, no, but it's but this is real.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: We are going into the final round, but before we
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: get to the quick fire round to end this show,
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: we do have to talk prizes this episode, Star Prize
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: is the concept of cross border friendships. No matter where
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: you're from, we're all human beings and we all want
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: the same thing to watch two hot men play a
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: bit of hockey, fall in love, and have the hottest
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: sex that television will allow them to show on TV
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: for free. But our winning team will also receive a
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: date with Pearl the oystercre mask nod. I mean, look
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: at those gams. Heated rivalry has got nothing on what
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: you two could get up to.
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: Did you have to look at those gams in the copy?
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: I had to look at those legs, But gams is
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: so much better.
- 1:24:30Speaker 6: They go all the way down to the floor.
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: Up next is our crucial quick fire round after the
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: last set of ads, unless you're listening on Patreon, in
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: which case, grab a poutine, some ketchup chips, or a
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: beaver tail to munch on.
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: We'll be back soon.
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: This quick fire around will test your broader pop culture knowledge,
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: and this time it's called I Know them A. In
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: this game, I will give our players clues to some
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: famous people from Canada, real or fictional, in the style
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: of a stereotypical East Coast Canadian. It's fun and of
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: course there's a classic gate Leapers twist. You need to
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: give me your answer in your best Canadian accent and
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: end it with an A. Of course, it's on fire,
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: so buzz in by yelling your team names. Let's practice
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: that now special.
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: S Canaldanians. I mean, I'll hear them, I'll know him.
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: I just want to apologize to the entirety of Canada,
- 1:25:36Speaker 6: all ten providences and three territories, the accents, all the.
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: Providence, every providence.
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: Yep, all of the providence. Get out here. I want
- 1:25:54Speaker 6: to apologize to.
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: Was that your Canadian accent? There was.
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: No my Canadian accent?
- 1:26:02Speaker 4: Is more of you? Sounded like a real key and
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: I'll give you that much. I would like it was
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: an example round. Here's an example round for us on
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: no point here. Uh So, for example, if I said, oh, hey, there,
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: did you see that guy in the crazy long drench
- 1:26:16Speaker 4: coat and sunglasses minus fifteen?
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: Yes, oh a is that uh Keu Reeves?
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: That would be Keanu Reeves, a noted famous Canadian. I
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: knew that there we I want like if this is
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: the edit later, just that line with Niles, like the
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: Zuba Lyle's faceless eyes were like a like a like
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: a baby moose in the headlights. I wouldn't know. I'm
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: in the toilet.
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: Okay, if we're already, we will get started. Hey, buddy,
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: you can't spark that thing here. The plow might hit
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: your bug shaped spaceship. Now you can use yours green
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: magic ring of yours to.
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: Crack open my green lantern.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: Special. Yes, Matt, oh, is that Ryan Reynolds? A?
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: That's not who I'm looking for. Anyone else want a
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: buzzing for this one? Is it Nathan Fillion? I can't
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: give you the point.
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: You didn't give me an a there, buddy, fuck, but
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: it was Nathan Philly and I was looking for No.
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: Sorry, I included a.
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: Transcript it will say, no, we need to get competitive now,
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: oh ship, No.
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: It's sires. I'm not gonna stop again. But that's your
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: point five. That's your point five point for typring.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: No, okay, okay, fat fat okay?
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I called because clearly my place is haunted, and
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: while you're here, you want to grab the stick and
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: jam with John Belushi.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: For a bit.
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: Oh canil Dane. It's a dan Ackroyd though, is it? Hey?
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: Eightian enough, I'll give it to you. That is dan Ackroyd.
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: Shirley Dane can just speak. I still leave the as.
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: Though, all right, can you stop flirting with your own
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: mom there for a kick and run down to the
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: shoppers for some snacks? No speeding now, last time you
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: went over eighty eight, we lost a few.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: Matt oh fuck uh oh a, it's Michael J.
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: Fox. Hey like you'n gotta Italian. It's Michael J. B.
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: It's Michael J.
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: One.
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: You've seen that hotty out there? Look smooth as a dog?
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: La la. I scribbled his name of my notebook, Gonile. Yes, Dane,
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: you know you know who it is? Is it Ryan Gosling? A?

- 1:29:07Speaker 4: I was gonna say death. Oh you see that hotty
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: out there? I proposed to him in a second. Even
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: if you just worked at a local pizza place. He's
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: dropped dead gorgeous? Oh canile?
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: Yes, Dan Ryan Reynolds. Ay, that is Ryan Reynolds.
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: Was it was a set up there? Uh oh yeah
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: see that. Yes, like at least that face is horrible.
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: At least he's funny and he's taking over from here.

- 1:29:43Speaker 4: skit about me? That's Dane Seth Rogen No, I'm just
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: gonna go this one.

- 1:29:58Speaker 3: adjacent people.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: Uh no, Unfortunately it is Ryan Reynolds to Jason. That
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: would be Deadpool canonicals. Okay, Oh man, i's got this crush.

- 1:30:15Speaker 4: is Avril Vin a nice Oh watch out, guys. I
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: think there's a supernatural horror around the cottage. Oh no, wait,

- 1:30:46Speaker 5: Hey, somebody stop him. The guy in the mess answering.
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: Everyone, Hey, is it Jim Carrey?

- 1:31:00Speaker 6: You're so sweaty.
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: I don't know any.
- 1:31:04Speaker 6: I know, but not the fastest.
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: Hey, shorty, watching those things there either put them away
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: or using to carve up the don air meat for us. Jesus,
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: smell like you've been living in the woods for the
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: last hundred years.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: A Bob special, Yes, is it the Is it a sasquatch?
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: As you close you were? Is the wolverine or logan? Hey,

- 1:31:39Speaker 2: deal with the ladies, even them green ones. Now let's
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: get your rocket man and go boldly, go even wherever

- 1:32:27Speaker 5: The Canadian New Canadian guns.
- 1:32:33Speaker 6: Anyway, born the Buzzer just because.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: He was stolen he chows the UK. Yeah, I'm not
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: having if you try and come for Paddington. I swear

- 1:32:59Speaker 6: I'm my money's Paddington.
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: The Pooh was part of World War One and the
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: Veternory Corps.
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: Yeah, and have you been to London?
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: Yes? What means London is a guy to World War

- 1:39:43Speaker 2: just say thank you is just be polite. Okay, let's
