- 0:00Speaker 1: You win an oscar and it's all downhill from there.
- 0:02Speaker 1: It's one more thing.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'm strong and getty, one more thing.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Charlie Sheen won an oscar when he was like twenty
- 0:18Speaker 1: And which movie was at full middle jacket? Is that
- 0:21Speaker 1: the one he was in one of those war news
- 0:25Speaker 1: platoon that's it.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I can't swear that's right, for the sounds right.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And then he was, at the time of his crack up,
- 0:34Speaker 1: or right before it, the highest paid actor in all
- 0:37Speaker 1: of television, back when people still watched television, as the
- 0:40Speaker 1: start two and a half Men, which was a hilarious show.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Then he went off the rails with the drug addiction
- 0:46Speaker 1: and all kinds of different stuff and waring, hooring and
- 0:50Speaker 1: being crazy online. He's got a memoir out and he
- 0:56Speaker 1: is he's our age sixty and he did a big
- 1:00Speaker 1: documentary for Netflix, and he sat down with Good Morning
- 1:02Speaker 1: America and didn't interview with Michael Strahan And here's a
- 1:05Speaker 1: little bit of that.
- 1:07Speaker 2: What do you think when you look back there, do
- 1:09Speaker 2: you recognize yourself?
- 1:10Speaker 4: Don't know who that is? And that's not a cop
- 1:13Speaker 4: out or I don't know what part of me that
- 1:15Speaker 4: came from.
- 1:17Speaker 3: It's weird.
- 1:17Speaker 4: It's like there's a possession going on. I'm like, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 4: compleading with that version of me to just dude cat stuff.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Wow, that's interesting.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it was funny because so many voices were telling
- 1:32Speaker 3: him that at the time. But that's the nature of addiction.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I guess, roll on, do you have any regret?
- 1:37Speaker 1: I do, but I can't.
- 1:40Speaker 3: There's no value in them, you know.
- 1:43Speaker 4: I guess the only way to deal with it is
- 1:45Speaker 4: just to not ever do anything or allow myself to
- 1:51Speaker 4: wind up in a situation where that's a message I
- 1:54Speaker 4: want to send to the world in that capacity, because
- 1:58Speaker 4: there's probably a lot of people out there that's don't
- 2:00Speaker 4: only know me from those viral clips a guy screening
- 2:04Speaker 4: Tiger Blood and winning and all this other nonsense, right,
- 2:08Speaker 4: and not set the record straight, but say no, no, no,
- 2:11Speaker 4: that was a moment in a really long career where
- 2:15Speaker 4: things just went off the freaking rails.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I would imagine in the Netflix special they play a
- 2:21Speaker 1: lot of those viral clips that we played the heck
- 2:23Speaker 1: out of back in the day, when every day he
- 2:26Speaker 1: would release like a video that would be on YouTube
- 2:29Speaker 1: of him just completely out of his mind.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Yeah, well, obviously he was complicit in it and enthusiastically
- 2:38Speaker 3: participating in it. But can you imagine your most out
- 2:41Speaker 3: of control moments and days being broadcast to the world.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I can see why he looks and wants people to
- 2:50Speaker 3: know I'm not that guy.
- 2:53Speaker 1: He talks about the section the drugs.
- 2:55Speaker 2: And you say sex went hand in hand with your
- 2:57Speaker 2: drug use. It did, yeah, and and wanting to try
- 3:01Speaker 2: as you you framed it quote other side of the menu,
- 3:06Speaker 2: which for some people out there and mean, what's the
- 3:08Speaker 2: other side of the menu that's sleeping with men and you?
- 3:12Speaker 2: But you said you've been honest about it now, But
- 3:16Speaker 2: why did you keep a sequence for so long? Sure?
- 3:21Speaker 4: Yeah, because there there was another element to it that
- 3:28Speaker 4: it did come with with it with a tremendous amount
- 3:34Speaker 4: of extortion. And so at the time I was just like,
- 3:38Speaker 4: all right, let's just just just pay to keep it
- 3:40Speaker 4: quiet and then just hope it just stays over there
- 3:44Speaker 4: and make it go away, you know, just make it
- 3:46Speaker 4: go away.
- 3:46Speaker 2: And then you were just paying people not to yeah.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Because they they would have they had video things or
- 3:52Speaker 4: whatever and had stuff over me. So that was kind
- 3:57Speaker 4: of held hostage, you know, And it's just the that's
- 4:00Speaker 4: a bad feeling.
- 4:01Speaker 1: That's interesting. I don't remember. Did he get himself into
- 4:05Speaker 1: financial trouble because he was making insane money obviously as
- 4:09Speaker 1: the highest paid actor in off television. Did he like
- 4:13Speaker 1: even remember? I don't remember either, because my question anytime
- 4:19Speaker 1: celebrities do these sorts of things where they reveal all
- 4:23Speaker 1: these past this and that, you know, why are you
- 4:25Speaker 1: Why did you keep it a secret for so so long?
- 4:27Speaker 1: The better question is why are you telling anybody now
- 4:30Speaker 1: other than maybe a therapist. I mean, you don't need
- 4:32Speaker 1: to tell me that you were sleeping with dudes for
- 4:34Speaker 1: a while when you were.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Out of your mind on drugs.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I don't need to know that. So are you telling
- 4:39Speaker 1: this just to make money off of a Netflix special?
- 4:41Speaker 1: Did Netflix give you fifteen million dollars to tell this story?
- 4:43Speaker 1: Is that why you're doing it?
- 4:45Speaker 3: You could make the argument that, I mean, if you're
- 4:48Speaker 3: a straight guy and you're so effed up on crack
- 4:51Speaker 3: and meth, which in particular make you want to horn
- 4:55Speaker 3: out with whatever person or object or beast happens to
- 4:59Speaker 3: be handy, it's worth telling this story. I think. I
- 5:03Speaker 3: don't think that's out of line. I see your point,
- 5:06Speaker 3: and generally I agree with you on that stuff, but
- 5:09Speaker 3: he's just talking about how he was out of control.
- 5:11Speaker 3: And also, I think you know, now, I'm sure I'm
- 5:14Speaker 3: I agree with myself because there's a real element of
- 5:18Speaker 3: laying down with dogs and waking up with fleas because
- 5:21Speaker 3: he was with the hardcore druggy party sex crowd and
- 5:25Speaker 3: they all tried to extort him.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Well, I suppose if he didn't mention that part in
- 5:34Speaker 1: the documentary, one of these probably scumbag He's probably hanging
- 5:38Speaker 1: around with some really low life people. Oh yeah, one
- 5:41Speaker 1: of them would have come forward and said it, so
- 5:42Speaker 1: they need to had to answer to it, So why
- 5:44Speaker 1: not just get it out?
- 5:45Speaker 3: Well, yeah, and I just like him saying, hey, this
- 5:47Speaker 3: is part of it. By the way, all of your
- 5:49Speaker 3: friends who are just fellow druggies, we're gonna screw you
- 5:53Speaker 3: and steal from you every way they can think of.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I do have one semi important thing to say this,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think, but one more clip.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Twenty fifteen, she publicly revealed that he was HIV positive.
- 6:06Speaker 2: That that was a tremendous relief.
- 6:08Speaker 4: That felt like, okay, all right, there's that not now
- 6:11Speaker 4: I can focus on some other things.
- 6:12Speaker 2: That was ten years ago. That was twenty fifteen. You're right,
- 6:17Speaker 2: how you feeling now? I felt pretty good. She says
- 6:19Speaker 2: he stopped using drugs in twenty fifteen, and that he
- 6:22Speaker 2: has now been completely sober for nearly eight years. What
- 6:26Speaker 2: was the final straw? It was, well, my body was
- 6:31Speaker 2: starting to reject it.
- 6:33Speaker 4: I talk about that in the book, you know, literal
- 6:35Speaker 4: really like turning inside out.
- 6:37Speaker 2: That was a mess.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Oh. I remember what his teeth looked like when you
- 6:41Speaker 1: got some of those close picture his teeth.
- 6:44Speaker 3: That's bad.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Oh, that was horrible. There's a clip, oh, we don't have,
- 6:48Speaker 1: but I read it yesterday where he talked about how
- 6:51Speaker 1: he'd really felt like his dad had betrayed him because
- 6:53Speaker 1: his dad actually signed off on some legal something that
- 6:58Speaker 1: allowed the police to go into Charlie house, which ended
- 7:02Speaker 1: up in his arrest, and which led to him getting
- 7:06Speaker 1: off drugs, which led to him being able to get
- 7:09Speaker 1: sober and stay sober. And he really really thought his
- 7:12Speaker 1: dad had betrayed him, and he now knows that it
- 7:15Speaker 1: was the dad doing what he should do for his
- 7:18Speaker 1: son and.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Thanks him and all that sort of stuff.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yeah, And the thing I was going to point out
- 7:24Speaker 1: is Charlie Sheen sounds to me like a guy who's
- 7:28Speaker 1: legitimately sober and can stay sober, as there was no
- 7:31Speaker 1: blaming anybody but himself any of those clips, as opposed
- 7:35Speaker 1: to Hunter Biden, who every time gets asked a question anything,
- 7:38Speaker 1: it's a yeah, but what would you do if the
- 7:41Speaker 1: if people had done this to you? I mean, it's
- 7:43Speaker 1: always that sort of angle, which I'm I'd be shocked
- 7:46Speaker 1: if Hunter's actually sober, and I don't see how he's
- 7:48Speaker 1: going to stay sober with that attitude. He's still blaming
- 7:51Speaker 1: people for his behavior.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely true. Wow, that is a contrast.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Because Charlie is saying, yeah, lots of regrets. I don't see,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I don't know if it's going to be do me
- 8:02Speaker 1: any good to dwell on them. But whereas Hunter never
- 8:05Speaker 1: has that sort of tude.
- 8:07Speaker 3: No, No, he has people who drove him to it.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll watch. I will actually watch this documentary.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Probably I will too, just because of the beloved catchphrases.
- 8:19Speaker 3: It came from his off the rails, almost dying, getting aids,
- 8:23Speaker 3: et cetera period.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's amazing HIV anyway, it's amazing that he lived through that.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yes, winning.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Living.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Most people who do that do not live. I wonder
- 8:35Speaker 1: how much of that was just maybe he had enough
- 8:38Speaker 1: money that he could get the right medical help at
- 8:43Speaker 1: the right time. Of course, so did Matthew Perry. And
- 8:45Speaker 1: Matthew Perry's dead as I am or well, and fentanyl
- 8:48Speaker 1: didn't exist at the right He missed the fentanyl thing,
- 8:51Speaker 1: or he would be dead. That is exactly right. Because
- 8:54Speaker 1: he was doing so much drugs with so many different people,
- 8:57Speaker 1: he would have come across ventanyl just by uh, you know,
- 9:02Speaker 1: sure randomness.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Yeah, and I got poetry at my fingertips. That's you
- 9:10Speaker 3: got that going for you. Well, I'm not Thomas Jefferson.
- 9:13Speaker 2: He was a pussy.
- 9:15Speaker 1: There you go. Those are the days.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Man's opinion.
- 9:17Speaker 1: We had good times back then. Every day the Charlie
- 9:19Speaker 1: Sheen update, it was fun times. Well, I guess that's it. Well,
- 9:24Speaker 1: we all have to sit in here and touch ourselves
- 9:26Speaker 1: and frown.
