- 10:40[SPEAKER_10]: A lot of snow down there.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_10]: Lot of snow down there and in Syracuse and everything, not as much up here.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_10]: I knew he was even, old man, winter kind of ruined New Year's Eve a bit up here with an afternoon storm and another one in the evening kind of kept people from going out as much.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_10]: But they were still out and about having a good time and hopefully hopefully you've ushered in the New Year in a good way.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_10]: Okay?
- 11:05[SPEAKER_10]: All right, there you go.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_10]: We got a lot of news stories here.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_10]: A lot of news stories.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_10]: tragic snowmobile accident down at worth a fifty-five-year-old liverpool man.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_10]: That's not good.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_10]: We don't like that at all.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_10]: Good afternoon, Ronnier.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_09]: Happy New Year, Mayor.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_10]: Hey, what's up?
- 11:23[SPEAKER_09]: Everybody, I just got a couple of phone calls within ten minutes claiming to be quite the money for a police organization.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_09]: I just want to let the old people know don't take the call.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_09]: It's a con game.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_09]: I helped online because I wasn't in the book for it.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_09]: I've been through
- 11:40[SPEAKER_09]: So the guy goes, I'll send you a, you know, we could put you down for this or that.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_09]: I said, so I mean, a letter, I'll take a look at it.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_09]: I think I was talking to an A, I call, I'm not sure the first call.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_09]: So I said, I mean, a letter.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I'm going to transfer you to another woman.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_09]: So I got a turn on the line and I gave her a few walk words that she hung up a line.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_09]: She got a call five minutes later.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_09]: Pull my guy with a silver axe and a different organization to say anything with the police.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_09]: Some of the people will fall for this.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_09]: I have a friend of mine got burned for $5,000.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_09]: Home call where they got your grandson in jail.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_09]: Oh yeah.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_09]: He got burned.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_09]: A lot of money by it.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_09]: He fell for it.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_10]: The other one is your power bell that we're coming over to shut it off.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_09]: I heard that before.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_09]: I got the IRS call.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_09]: We're sending the police to you.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_09]: I said, send them down.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_09]: I said, what are they out of the meat?
- 12:40[SPEAKER_09]: So go ahead and order me, I haven't got that in a while, but this police call every couple months I get it, but it's something like an AI call for a funeral.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_10]: Put it back, put it back.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_10]: I go, here we go with this again.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_10]: I never got two calls on a roll like that, but... Well, the big change in city.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_09]: Why the hell the AG officer doesn't put out notices on each kind of phone calls for people?
- 13:06[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, you would think they would get for it, Mayor.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_09]: He will.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_10]: Is that a fact?
- 13:11[SPEAKER_10]: That affects people all over New York, all ages, all races, and political parties.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_10]: And they're more interested.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_10]: I saw it.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_10]: Tis James was down at New York swearing in the new mayor.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, you see what he did the first thing?
- 13:24[SPEAKER_10]: What?
- 13:26[SPEAKER_09]: Put a gay guy in his fire commissioner.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_09]: So here we go with the walker agenda.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_09]: Put an X-Con in his security, head of his security detail.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_09]: So this is the kind of stuff Trump's trying to put a stop to, you know?
- 13:38[SPEAKER_09]: Right away, first thing you did, ex-con, you're telling me there's no quite five people you could put in there, besides the next con, so I don't know how the guy's going to work out, but it's going to be the same, he's going to have to have the governor in his court if he gets anything done, if he wants to give it, but put it to you three right, she's going to have to back up on all the
- 14:04[SPEAKER_10]: I would think so.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_09]: He is a smart, he is a good talker or I got to get in that.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_10]: I watched a speech yesterday, I thought he was delivering it very well and there's an enthusiastic crowd and all of that.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, he's got a little forer to him, there's no doubt about that, but I don't agree with his, you know, not a good idea, but it's going to cost money, that's what that's going to be the problem.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_09]: When he goes along with him or not, I don't know.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know either.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_10]: What do you think of the sheriff of Lewis County there?
- 14:36[SPEAKER_10]: Did you see that?
- 14:37[SPEAKER_10]: What's that?
- 14:38[SPEAKER_10]: He was at a New Year's Eve party at the hotel Oceola, which is out in the middle of nowhere.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_10]: And apparently some thugs from O'Neighbeth County had come.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_10]: They had unplugged the security cameras at the hotel with the intention of starting a fight which they did.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_10]: And he had to go out to his car, get his service weapon, and fire off three warning shots.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, well things happen when alcohol's involved, you know, well, yeah, but I mean, that's it.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_10]: And of course, you know, way out there, it took an hour for a backup to get there.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_09]: So I mean, it, uh, wow, you know, yeah, things happen to your Z. I don't go out anymore.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_09]: I used to, but I don't, it's too dangerous now, you know.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_09]: you got the cops block and rolls looking for revenue.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_09]: They say it's a safety issue.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_09]: I'm sure a lot of it is, but it's also always a way to raise revenue.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_09]: A lot of people.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_09]: The reason to point on your license here I see next year too.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, I know.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_09]: You got to tell why that tail light out.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_09]: There's another point on your license.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_09]: You know, things like that.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_09]: Just a matter of getting more money out of your damn pocket most of it.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_09]: Well, there's a couple of city things.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_09]: It's a drink.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_10]: Got a couple of city things, uh, as you know.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_10]: that ethics thing came to a screeching halt last week and uh... uh... counts of former councilwoman regiro has submitted her legal bills that he she has eight seven hundred dollars worth she says they should be paid because the uh... other council members were able to use city resources legal resources to formulate the charges all of that's going to come up again when uh... who if only septic charges are considered will the three incumbents now get
- 16:18[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I just paid off.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_09]: It's not a lot of money to worry about Mayor, you know.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_09]: 8,000,000,000, some dipping a bucket for a minute's penalty right now.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_09]: Well, pretty much worth the half, so you know what I mean?
- 16:29[SPEAKER_10]: But remember earlier in the year, when Cliff only had an ethics complaint, they said, oh no, the city won't pay for that.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_10]: So we each had a dichotomy there.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_10]: Hey, one other thing, I know, I'd raise the issue a few times.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_10]: The old lock-and-hour plaza fountain, remember that?
- 16:51[SPEAKER_10]: It looks like a big gear.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_10]: I thought it looked kind of nice, bit of sculpture.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_10]: Well, the planners took it down when they we did court street and read it the corner.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_10]: And the corner came out nice.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_10]: And it was placed down on the ground next to the hydro plant.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_10]: As you recall recently on the show, I suggested to the city manager, we put it back up instead of that garden hose that he paid $2,500 for that's in there now, and apparently the city sold it, and I'm told, for $400 for scrap metal, a piece of art.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_10]: Well, what if this guy was in charge of the Louvre, he'd be selling the Mona Lisa out of Yard Sale?
- 17:28[SPEAKER_10]: Come on.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I don't like the city manager made a statement that the council people can't talk
- 17:37[SPEAKER_09]: You've got a question you should be able to quote it with the parma head without the city manager no one about it.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if you realize he works for the council.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if he understands that or that's what I understand.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_09]: Am I wrong on that?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_10]: Well, he tactics me guys, but.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_09]: But he doesn't want anybody talking to the parma head as well as he knows the parma apparently.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_09]: So, you know, I don't agree with the guy living outside the city.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_09]: I tried to call the day he was in, but I couldn't get to.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_09]: You know, that's still bothers me a little bit there.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_09]: You know, you want to, as you want the head guy in this city, I think, any way.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_09]: You want you to farm a hedge here in the area, not 11, 20 miles outside the area, you know?
- 18:18[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_09]: But whenever we're going to do anything about other facilities, I don't know.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_10]: Hey, I saw some of those Styrofoam coolers, the old Styrofoens sitting at a store for sales.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_10]: Should I turn the store in?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_09]: Well, they got, well, I think they're illegal now, yeah, first shit.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_09]: like to see you get a take-off from a restaurant they put them in starry phony cage does that anymore and do any part of mentalless war odds and worry about everything it's amazing when you think about the nonsense it goes through you know i was also i was thinking of that horrible fire in switzerland the nightclub fire over forty people dead over a hundred injured and it was a basement nightclub that that
- 19:04[SPEAKER_10]: soundproofing material and the ceiling carry in the you know what ever pain that was on fire on what that was about what I mean and the thing is and we used to have that here where the fire department every year would inspect public places and if there was something a miss you know clutter in the basement or
- 19:25[SPEAKER_10]: You know, you didn't have the proper crash bars or something they say something, but they don't do that anymore.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know what they do, but they don't do that anymore.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_10]: And I think that's too bad because that kind of stuff could save lives.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_10]: You know, that, that you can't eliminate every fire or catastrophe, but you can mitigate the results and have it up.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_10]: You know, a nightclub in a basement with limited exit and all of that, you're asking for trouble.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, it takes a couple of people to panic and all everything goes to hell.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_09]: That's happened before in places like that that rock show where they had the lasers.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_09]: Mm-hmm.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_09]: After I came back to where it was, that could occur.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_09]: Well, again, people panic, you know, that's a problem.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_10]: You know, you can open a nightclub now and you don't even have to have an occupancy permit.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_10]: Now, it's just, it's incredible.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know how many.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_09]: It's always supposed to hold about 200 people on a how many with their, probably a lot more than that.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_09]: nothing more than a fairies.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, you know, nothing more than that.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, Mayor.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_10]: Okay.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_10]: Thank you.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_10]: All right.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_10]: Bye now.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_10]: Alrighty.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_10]: Well, that, uh, good to hear from the angry man there.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_10]: It wasn't really angry today.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_10]: Was he?
- 20:31[SPEAKER_10]: No, not at all.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_10]: Okay.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_10]: Well, why don't we do a little commercial break.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_10]: And then we'll come back and do more in just a moment.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: This is a Denado at Bob Johnson Dodge Jeep Ram in Watertown.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: Right now you can lease a 2026 Dodge Durango GT all-wheel drive for just 3.69 a month.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: For only 36 months, the bold sporty 3-row Durango GT for only 3.69 a month.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: Stop in today and ask for me Ed Denado at Bob Johnson CDJR on Outer Washington Street in Watertown and have a great holiday season.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_29]: L.A.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_29]: Glory.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_29]: Crushed limestone is what they do, and all their crushed limestone is 100% locally sourced from their own quarry at Lafarsville.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_29]: They deliver locally, many times on the same day.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_29]: L.A.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_29]: Glory also does driveways and stone foundations.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_29]: They have the limestone to improve your property.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_29]: Located at 19309 Grove Cemetery Road in Lafarsville, just watch for the huge sign next to the cemetery, proudly owned by the Thompson family for 35 years.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_29]: Call L.A.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, here we are in the hotline here.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_10]: I'm Jeff Graham.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_10]: This is America's favorite noon time talk show.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_10]: And we're here to provide whatever you want to listen to talk about, okay?
- 21:54[SPEAKER_10]: Alrighty, I think I hope I didn't get in trouble.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_10]: I told the lawyer I was coming in, but I'm working around the log issue here.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_10]: I think I'm doing it right.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_10]: Let's see.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_10]: Well, there's a house fire at Ogdensburg.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_10]: Are there any houses left in Ogdensburg?
- 22:13[SPEAKER_10]: This one isn't anything left for this one.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_10]: I'll tell you, saw some pictures on the news.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, the news.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_10]: I watched it the first five minutes of channel seven news.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_10]: Mackenzie Pie out was on today.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, let's see.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_10]: I think that thing about the sheriff having a squeeze off rounds, you know, I think that's kind of a big story.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_10]: Um, the fact, what made it big is not that some people acted stupid and we're fighting.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_10]: It's that these people from O'Night Accounty, um, had apparently, according to the owner of the Otsiola hotel.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_10]: Now, Otsiola isn't Lewis County.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_10]: It's way out in the middle of nowhere.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_10]: You probably never been there, but they had a New Year's Eve party there.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_10]: And anyway, um, these people from O'Night Accounty had apparently disconnected the security
- 23:10[SPEAKER_10]: At the hotel, indicating that their intention upon arriving was to start trouble.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_10]: You know, people get in fights, I get it.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_10]: People act stupid, I get it, and we don't like to see that happen.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_10]: But you don't try to disable security.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_10]: Upon arrival, figuring you'll get in a fight later.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_10]: And it got scary for the sheriff, Carponelli was surrounded, they were punching at him.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_10]: He had to retreat to his car, get his side arm.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_10]: He was not there at sheriff, but he identified himself.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_10]: He squeezed off three rounds.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_10]: And the people stopped fighting, and maybe they caught on at the law was there.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_10]: But wow.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_10]: Sheriff Carponelli says there will be arrests uh... but i think that's kind of a big story i've been heard of a sheriff have been to do that it's kind of like in uh... you know blazing saddles or something i mean it's uh... pretty wild west i guess it is wild west out in osteolah were you know i went there once in my life years ago i think it was outmothers i think i was just kind of wondering
- 24:29[SPEAKER_10]: You know, try seeing what the rest of Louis County looks like.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_10]: So I went over there because that's over in a red field.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_10]: They think in that area.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_10]: Um, for those of you who are very wintry area too, very wintry.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_10]: So whatever.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_10]: So anyway, should Lisa Vajero get her $8700 back?
- 24:51[SPEAKER_10]: I say yes.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_10]: Now, I know there were some council members who have to
- 25:00[SPEAKER_10]: that whoever we don't know wrote them, but and said, oh, you don't need a lawyer.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_10]: Well, wait a minute.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_10]: She was about to enter into a period to be a kangaroo court, and she was, she did need a lawyer because her reputation would have been solid.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_10]: You don't go to jail because of what happens at the board of ethics.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_10]: But yeah, I think she should get her $8700 back.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_10]: And I'm a city tax payer.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_07]: and i think we should get you back to four hundred dollars and get our sculpture back but sell it off everything but after you're on the air hey man how are you today uh... you're going good could see the new year start out and demand is a quite a very kind of nice yes hey and this is capnelli up uh... uh... county you think you'd be a good candidate for uh... police chief here
- 25:54[SPEAKER_07]: You don't have to live in the city, right?
- 25:55[SPEAKER_07]: We already established that.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_10]: Right, he could be a sheriff, and he could be police chief here.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_07]: Well, it's kind of like it's, it can work out.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I think we need someone with some, you know, I guess the word would be, uh, coolness, you know, something to really take hold of this area.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_07]: We need someone like that around here that we don't have.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_10]: That's right, yeah.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I guess there's not to be said when you don't even know what, you know, the police chief's name has.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_07]: Not in this case, anyway, there.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_07]: There he is, and done anything wrong, and he's sticking out.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_07]: But I tell you, it's just to have someone that break up a party like that, I like the idea.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_07]: And such not to live in the city, I think we've established that.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_07]: Well, we've also established those that we don't pay for lawyers for anyone.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_07]: We've already established that with Quifted Way.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, but I bet you they pay for ones for the other three there.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know how far they'll probably do with all these ethics complaints filed last Tuesday or Wednesday, they'll probably just quickly dismiss those and hope nobody says anything.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_10]: But I don't know if that's the case, you know, there has to be some kind of consideration of those charges since we've made weaponizing the ethics board sort of a thing to do in city government.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_07]: before he has just, you know, a judge would just sit back and say, you are out, especially a nuisance, and you can't be doing that anymore.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_07]: Well, nobody's suing me.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_07]: No, we broke that threshold.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_10]: Well, nobody has sued the city over this.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_07]: Well, no, not yet, but, uh, Mr. Only himself has sued the city in the past.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_07]: How many times do you think you get to suit the city?
- 27:36[SPEAKER_07]: Sometimes you're checking the Christmas tree with the net bulk, you understand?
- 27:40[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I, what I kind of get there with that happy day's analogy.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_10]: Right.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_07]: you know finally sitting around the Christmas tree is chuckle is the brother that was only there for one season he is trying to see why the Christmas student work and he's using a bad ball took someone from outside to walk and go ahead you're checking that Christmas tree with a bad ball I think you know clip only might be the bad ball that could be yeah that could be not even stir things up then you know power to him for you know being a ten-of-on that thinks he was interested in but
- 28:10[SPEAKER_07]: You know, do we need someone else fighting back against the city and against city council anymore?
- 28:15[SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_07]: Can't we have like a judge step up and just say like, you know, if this isn't working for you, go somewhere else?
- 28:22[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_07]: If it's clear water.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_10]: Well, that's fine.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_10]: That's fine.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_10]: It's over with.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_10]: It's over with.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_07]: It is.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, why can't we all just say this is over with waste enough time and enough?
- 28:32[SPEAKER_07]: It's kind of big nothing burger right for the beginning.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_07]: Cityman is palli.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_07]: Regardless, this happened or not.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_07]: overpay as an all-government overpay on everything they do it's because they cause a lot of red tape and that's the way it is and in this right here regards to how it's that golf course sold for there's been a lot of red tape for a while you know what I don't care about that I what I do care about is the
- 28:56[SPEAKER_10]: efforts to deny and delay and obfuscate on every freedom of information request, I'd like to know what was spent on this latest round of ethics complaints because they hired an outside attorney from Hancock and Esther Brook to advise the council so they did incur legal bills and frankly they forced the situation where Ms. Rujero had to as well.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_10]: because we all know what the output outcome would have been otherwise.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_10]: So no, I think they're reaping what they sow in this regard.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_10]: They could have just left after the election, let this year run out, but they had to get the last word in.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_07]: There's one word that you're using in there.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_07]: And you're using the word today.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_07]: Now when you say day, don't you mean we as in we the people?
- 29:46[SPEAKER_07]: We the people as in you and I don't want anything more to do with that.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_07]: want someone living in the area where they, you know, not necessarily where there's an invisible line, but I would just say, like, hey, if you were, you know, the city manager or the mayor or the chief police or the chief fire department, shouldn't you be, you know, 15 minutes away.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_07]: I don't care if it's a imaginary line, you live in front of that red, you know, right guy to downtown.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_07]: You shouldn't be that far away.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_07]: I think that's a reasonable thing to say.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_07]: We're still mad out the window.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_07]: We've also throughout the window, we know longer at any time.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_07]: have to do any type of a survey to figure out how much something's worth.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_07]: We can just pay it.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_07]: So we've got that established now.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_07]: We've also, I think, established that we aren't just paying a legal fee for someone who is going against the city policy.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_07]: They feel they've been single now.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_07]: I think we've already established that.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_07]: And I don't think we can step back on it.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_07]: I just don't think we can step back.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_10]: Well, I don't know.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_10]: Okay.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_10]: Well, listen.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_10]: I got to run.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_10]: I got another call.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_10]: All right.
- 30:43[UNKNOWN]: I know.
- 30:43[UNKNOWN]: I don't know either.
- 30:44[UNKNOWN]: That's what we're doing.
- 30:45[UNKNOWN]: We're discussing it.
- 30:46[UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_10]: YouTube by now.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_10]: Good afternoon around the air.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_10]: Good afternoon around the air.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_14]: Happy New Year, Jeff.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_14]: Yes, I would agree with you that the sheriff's carbon alley in Oceola over the weekend there is a big story.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_14]: You know, my carbon alley has always been a no nonsense type of guy.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_14]: And I was very sad to see that he was put in that
- 31:14[SPEAKER_14]: scary situation there with people punching them in the back as reported in a local media.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_14]: And I'm glad that nobody ended up getting hurt, at least that we know of, but I hope that the perpetrators are all attended to and pay the fines or I hope so, I mean, they assaulted an officer.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_10]: and just because you can say I didn't know he was an officer doesn't mean anything I mean he identified himself at all so you know if they set up that fight came there with that intention that's that's a serious issue all i i would agree with you that's why i say i think it's a it's a big story uh... he's a he's a good man uh... he's got a lot of experiences and no nonsense type of guy
- 32:03[SPEAKER_14]: And I'm glad he was able to stop it when he did because everyone he was quoted as saying in the media, he was quoted as saying that he was fearful.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_14]: It takes a lot to scare that guy and so it was probably a could have been a very, very nasty.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, what about Lisa Regero's legal bill, you want to pay it?
- 32:25[SPEAKER_14]: That's all I wanted to say.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_14]: Oh, you don't have an opinion about little Mike Carbonelli.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, thank you.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_10]: All right, thank you.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_10]: All right, didn't want to weigh in on that.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_10]: Well, you weigh in.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_10]: All right, we got the issues out there.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_10]: Was Jero's legal bills, selling the fountain as scrap for $400.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_10]: The sheriff sent them straight down in Oceola.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_10]: And here's one, because it was in Punchbowl, which is one of these DC news sources and so on.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_10]: Like the Hill and other so.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_10]: that Congresswoman Stefanik, who is retiring at the end of this term, but she is being watched carefully by Republican leadership along with two other members of Congress, a Congressman Bacon and Cory Mills.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_10]: Mills has ethical problems and bacon and Stefanik are retiring.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_10]: They are watching these three to see if they're going to resign out of
- 33:32[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, M-T-G, we love her.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_10]: Um, yeah, so anyway, um, if she did get out early, like Green did, that would prompt a special election to fill the remainder of the term.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_10]: Now, if she stays into the end of the term, it's a normal election cycle, there has to be
- 34:00[SPEAKER_10]: Currently you've got that small and fellow assemblyman small and then you've got the sticker mule and maybe somebody else we don't know about And But a lot of people, you know, they're not looking they don't want to get involved in that So if it was a special election Then the 13 or so county chairs decide who the nominee is there is no primary And Then you might see other people
- 34:30[SPEAKER_10]: of these joy you could see a that don't any you could see uh... you know other people i don't know pick a name uh... johnny spazano who knows it could be anybody so that's a reported in punchball and again uh... one of those little stories here here and this is why we need diversity in media this is why we need we shouldn't be a news desert up here
- 34:57[SPEAKER_10]: And we need lots of sources of news, so these little things like the, you know, the story and punchball, you know, the story and about the fountain being sold for $400, illegal bills being demanded.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_10]: All of those stories, in many cases, come your way and alternative media.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_10]: Doesn't mean I'm a great journalist or any better than anybody else.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_10]: It just means that we live in a news desert and we have to, you know, cultivate all sources.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, all right, you know, the first thing I did when I was picking up a few items the other day just a couple days ago at a store and I won't see which one I saw that styrofoam cooler and I said I heard about that on the news.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I was gonna call 911.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, get the DEC down there.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_10]: Yep.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_10]: They got a styrofoam cooler.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_10]: There's a traffic jam in Harlem that's backed up to Jackson Heights.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_10]: Anyway, that would be something, wouldn't it?
- 36:07[SPEAKER_10]: That would be something.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_10]: Now, those are our chosen stories for the day.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_10]: You might have something else you want to talk about, and that's fine.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_10]: The new anchor on the CBS evening news, Mr. Daccopiel, is that his name?
- 36:35[SPEAKER_10]: He says people don't trust old media.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_10]: Well, you're old media?
- 36:39[SPEAKER_10]: You're a great lady.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_10]: No, that's the New York Times.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, whatever, all of the Tiffany network was CBS.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_10]: Well, that was a long time ago.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_10]: When Roger Mudd was there, Mike Wallace and those people.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_10]: Well, as a photo, it shows a woman on shoulders with sparklers and champagne bottles before the fire and switcherlin.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_10]: So, that pretty much says it all, pretty much says it all, pretty much says it all.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_10]: More snow coming for a three-go-county, you've got city council meeting Monday, first one of the year, they're going to learn that hydro revenue is down, sales tax is done better in the past few months.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_06]: and um... it's about it but after noon you're on the air i don't have a day on they had a happy new year you too you'd be late happy you're anyway everybody audience uh... here is a new year of twenty twenty six so a lot of things will be happening including mid-terms this year from congress which is a deal uh... but locally even though it's a new year uh... new city council is sworn in to new people
- 37:58[SPEAKER_06]: Sadly, we keep talking about old issues that don't ever seem to get resolved.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_06]: And I like to discuss one of them as my personal opinion, but I think it's a logical one.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_06]: That's regarding who should live in the city, if they work for the government.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_06]: That's a key word, if they work for the government.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_06]: Where should they live in the city?
- 38:17[SPEAKER_06]: I think the only one that's required to live in the city within my opinion, would be the people that are involved
- 38:27[SPEAKER_06]: regarding taxes, codes, whatever, whatever issue it is for the city, if they are involved in the policy and procedures of doing that, they should be required to live in the city and be just like everybody else regarding those topics.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_10]: Well, the council, the council, thanks otherwise.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_06]: City manager, I don't understand why they can't accept that to me, that's a very
- 38:55[SPEAKER_06]: you wouldn't have the president united states uh... living in his home out in his kind of sort of government more cc you know as a silly things like that so well but the city manager makes policy recommends policy he doesn't vote for it re-recommend it lays out the budgets and all of a sort of a couple of it the implement it yet pretty much runs everything and can't be now it should be required to live in the city and and it's not a say so for the consequences
- 39:25[SPEAKER_10]: right i agree with that but i mean you make decisions from a different perspective when you're elsewhere i i've said it for and i i i i know they're gonna hate me for it but you know if you've got a major fire let's say one like over in Switzerland you expect the fire chief to be there well not just say well i got good people on the scene you know
- 39:54[SPEAKER_06]: public safety people across the police and bar they should live in the city to show like get to get to the site if there's an emergency in our hurry that's no doubt I totally agree with that but that's what I was getting at but this thing on the policy the taxes property you know whatever whatever it got to deal with taxes and money for the city make decisions based going and vote on this decision obviously should live in the city and take it that it be just like
- 40:24[SPEAKER_06]: that they're interested in here's a policy for you, but I'm not going to live here so more effectively.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_06]: That's that's cool.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_06]: That's the bottom line as far as I'm concerned.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_06]: But to new year, I think we should be talking about some new ways to do.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_10]: Well, we had the new council members in, Mr. Garrett Branton, Mr. Eisenborn, got sworn in yesterday.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_10]: You know, one of the big decisions they're going to have to make first right out of a date, unfortunately, the issue has been framed for them is on picking a city of attorney.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_10]: I still think we should consider the idea of an in-house attorney, but these, you know, the old council put out these requests for proposals that generated two proposals, apparently, Harris Beach, although I guess they're not going to use Todd Belard, they're going to use somebody else, probably that Stephen Miller guy does the IDA work.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_10]: this mister clapper who another lawyer in town says he doesn't live here in town he just maintains an office in an apartment over behind best by and that he's a former bond employee so he might be the way for bond to keep all the litigation work which if uh... if Harris beach takes over the counsel chambers
- 41:37[SPEAKER_10]: you know side show they're going to want all the other work too so this is really it just about billable hours and it's unfortunate uh... and unfortunately this new council uh... is being boxed in and i've got a feeling they're going to be they're going to try to bully them in the going with her speech yeah i don't i don't know how they how they put up the proposal for
- 42:08[SPEAKER_10]: Well, I don't think any firm, there's no firm who's going to want just to go to the council meetings and listen to the nonsense and get themselves in the news.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_10]: They want all the other work.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_10]: And so I'm very doubt, you know, seriously doubt that Harris Beach wants to do the stuff in the council chambers without all the other stuff too.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_10]: So we'll see what happens.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_10]: But I think that's an important first.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_06]: they should try to get somebody locally if they can.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_06]: We may not have that many skilled people in law firms in the area.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_06]: It would not help us if I could be represented to say, I don't know what this situation is there, but it seems to be like it is a good question.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_10]: You know, it's a funny thing.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_10]: There's a lot of lawyers in this area, but it's a funny thing they keep saying, there's nobody up here who could do it.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_10]: And yet there's a ton of
- 43:04[SPEAKER_10]: But it's like they're insulting themselves, well, there's nobody up here smart enough to sit at a council meeting.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_10]: And no, I could do that and get it right 98% of the time.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_06]: That's another issue.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_06]: As to exactly right, and the decision should be made on this by the city council probably post-case two.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_06]: And the first, it should be one of the major, major policy issues that should be coming up pretty soon.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_06]: And you mean with me?
- 43:37[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, exactly, yeah.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_06]: Usually by name.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_06]: But anyway, happy new year, everybody else, and I hope everybody got through the new year, so if we want to have you, you'll start with those people's whistle, and that was a terrible thing, yeah?
- 43:50[SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, anyway.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_10]: No, I thank you.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_10]: Bye now.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, well, nightclub fires.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_10]: What are the causes?
- 43:57[SPEAKER_10]: So remember the coconut growth?
- 43:59[SPEAKER_10]: Some of you probably do in Boston in 1942.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_10]: they had a lot of people dead in that.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_10]: And I think that had to do with the doors where they didn't want people going in and out so they had the doors like barricaded or something.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_10]: You're supposed to have in a place of public assembly like that, doors that open out and with crash bars.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_10]: In other words,
- 44:25[SPEAKER_10]: crash bars are the thing on the inside where you push it whether the door isn't locked or not from the outside you can like over my place you can go outside and lock the doors or people can't get in but if there's people inside they can still get out because it's got a crash block you need that kind of stuff you need adequate exits you need to make sure there's no flammables in the room apparently there's a flammable noise suppression tiles on the ceiling
- 44:50[SPEAKER_10]: And that's where, you know, some kind of, um, standards and we don't seem to do that anymore.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_10]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_11]: Hey, Jeff, um, this whole sheriff might carp an Ellie stuff.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_10]: Yes.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_11]: It seems very, uh, now I like the guy.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_11]: I was excited when he announced he was the one for governor, but he backed down to Lee's album.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_11]: But I mean, I like the guy as a sheriff.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_10]: Right.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_11]: But there's some odd things.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_11]: But they have missing video, okay?
- 45:23[SPEAKER_11]: And the claim is that they unplug the cameras.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_11]: Okay, maybe that's true.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_11]: But since I've heard this, all I can think about is that did somebody delete the video?
- 45:39[SPEAKER_10]: Well, I don't know if the video camera system was unplugged.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_10]: That's the assertion made by the hotel owner.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_10]: I really don't know.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, and it's just odd because I think this does need to be investigated probably by the, you know, the state or somebody or I like the sheriff to be cleared, you know, I hope it comes out.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_10]: But you know, they're kind of lucky.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_10]: He was there because God knows what would have happened.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_10]: You're talking about a fight in the middle of nowhere where it takes an hour to get a police officer there because of the now location and the weather.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_11]: or a into a field or something I don't know where what direction or whatever I'm kind of you got to be careful there's that guy who uh... you don't go home got a new gun for christmas and was testing it out and kill the lady couple blocks away sitting on her porch so i mean you got to be careful we're sure there's that so we're saying this is a fight at another bar out in the dunes and the owner this time it's not a sheriff but the owner went
- 46:50[SPEAKER_11]: and fired a few rounds off.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_11]: I think that person would probably maybe be charged if they were, you know, going by the book.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_11]: You know, they were her nose pleased as well.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_10]: Probably because if you get that gun out and you're squeezing off rounds, you better be prepared to shoot at somebody.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_10]: Now, it's not just a warning device.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_10]: So, because once you take it out and pull that trigger, you've escalated the battle.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_10]: Now, he's a police officer, a sheriff, so you know what he's doing.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_11]: Right.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_11]: So, right.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_11]: I mean, it just seems to have a lot of unanswered questions.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_11]: And what I'm saying is, like, I hope there isn't a deletion of the video.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_11]: That's what I keep thinking about.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_11]: We got three rounds that were fired that were told.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_11]: We got a deleted video.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_10]: Well, no, wait a minute.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_10]: They did not say deleted video.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_10]: They said the system had been unplugged.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_10]: Okay.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_10]: That's different.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_10]: No video.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_11]: Right.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_11]: You know, there's, you know, the think of the extreme stuff, you know, there was video that it was on part of it was a working event, don't know.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_10]: Well, the question also is, you know, and the licensee could be in trouble if the sheriff sent a referral to Albany on this.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know if he will.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_11]: Right.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_11]: Well, I hope for the sheriff's part, everything's true, which, I mean, I don't really want it down to.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_11]: But I think it's, I just can't help thinking that,
- 48:18[SPEAKER_11]: Maybe a video was deleted because that's all I could think about since the story came out because You know, it's not too far fetched this thing.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_11]: If you were to investigate it as a detective There's not it's not too much of a hard thing to think well He's a sheriff.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_11]: He's got friends.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_11]: He knows the honors.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_10]: You know this Okay, sounds good.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_10]: Well, thank you
- 48:42[SPEAKER_10]: I just got to text somebody says the city manager of new the fountain was sold when you were asking of questions when he was in the studio recently for the water thing I'm sure he did and well at $400 that'll help lower our taxes I bet but but my understanding is they haven't been able to get the
- 49:11[SPEAKER_10]: The first one in there was literally just like a, I don't know, something they got at A-Sardware, then they paid $2,500 for some kind of special fountain head, it still looks terrible.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_10]: When they couldn't have had this thing, I couldn't have had that thing chip shape, and the welder would have done it, made a bracket for it.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_10]: could have got to put it in there without the engineering cartella would have looked great it would have been a bit of history and a you know it's great when you can take things and tie them into the past we got a new court street which is great and they did a nice job cleaning up that whole lock-in-hour plaza getting all the bushes out of there and all that crap so it looks nicer but they dropped the ball in that one it's because
- 50:01[SPEAKER_10]: I remember when we were talking about that aviary up in the zoo and ended up coming down but yet these people and you know people who think they know everything or like, well, you're just hitting misty over that, that's just a blah blah blah blah.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_10]: You know all of these things have some historic value, there are people who would sit there and say, well, you know, let's build a new library and knock that flower library down.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_10]: I mean, there are people like that.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_10]: And that would be unfortunate, unfortunate.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_10]: That's why I'm glad we spent a lot of money a few years ago to fix up the library.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_10]: So it looks nice inside.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_10]: I got no problem with that kind of money.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_10]: And the fact is, could I have that fountain up for virtually nothing?
- 50:46[SPEAKER_10]: But you didn't have anybody on council willing to fight for it?
- 50:52[SPEAKER_10]: They basically do as they're told.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_10]: And I hate to say it.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_10]: I mean, that's, I'm not saying that.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_10]: not here to get to an argument on forms of government or anything like that, but the last few years that it's definitely do as you're told and you know if anything there were times I was guilty of that too so basically it's unfortunate we lost our phone it's probably somewhere somebody's backyard i doubt anyone melted it down
- 51:27[SPEAKER_10]: They probably put it up somewhere and it's probably looking nice and somebody's back here.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_10]: Out in the hinterland somewhere.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, well, there you go.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_10]: There you go.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, let's see.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_10]: Wow, a lot of snow and a sweet go.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_10]: That's good to see all those network weather people in a sweet go.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_10]: you know you sometimes we get a lot of lake impacts no but not this time and I think that's great yeah well the city's fighting them but those New York screw this headline New York's legal pop shop more than doubled in 2025 salesperson surpassing $2.5 billion wow yeah
- 52:27[SPEAKER_10]: As we bask in the warmth of collectivism here in New York State, right?
- 52:33[SPEAKER_10]: Good afternoon, Your Honor, I'm here.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_13]: Good afternoon, Jeff.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_13]: I agree with your first caller there about living in the cities, absolutely, right?
- 52:43[SPEAKER_13]: And you make decisions to affect a tax payer.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_13]: You should have some somethings us to them, you know, it's easy to make a lot of decisions when you're living outside this, you know, the city limits.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_13]: A lot of the taxpayers agree with him 100% on that, and as far as hiring a lawyer from outside the area, I find it very hard to believe that there's not a lawyer on water challenge.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_13]: It's not available for that job.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_13]: Something who lives in the city, somebody who pays taxes, okay?
- 53:19[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_10]: I mean, we don't even know what's spent now.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_13]: Well, it's like I said to you, everything in the city,
- 53:27[SPEAKER_13]: through departments is on a need to know basis, needing to serve floor lunch to counsel and know what they need to know and what they don't need to know.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_13]: They'll be left in the dark and it's all the departments, it's just not just one department, it's there's a lack of communication that always answers, but as fire is selling that, I thought all items in the city have to go up for auction, maybe somebody maybe a city resident want to bid on something.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_10]: I bet you could have got more than $400 for it.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_13]: Well, I mean, just like the Arsenal Street cemetery that brought iron fence that used to be around there.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_13]: They sent down a DPW garage for years until they scrapped it.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_13]: Maybe somebody would have bought it if you put it up on an auction and it advertised in the paper.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_13]: Who makes these decisions?
- 54:17[SPEAKER_13]: The council must know what's going on.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_13]: The city manager can't be making all these decisions without council knowing.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_10]: You know, I'm of the opinion that no matter how imperial the office of city managers is viewed in some circles, it's a good courtesy to just run things by.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_10]: of the elected body, you know, just to see if they've got a perspective that you might not see.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_10]: And I think that's what's missing when people talk about the city manager form of government or the city planner form of government, I guess we have, it excludes the idea of the people who are closest to the people, those are the elected officials, they live here, they got elected here, they went door to door here.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_10]: And now we've said, you don't even have to live here to be making these decisions.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know how they got around that well, like I said before, again, which fault does that really?
- 55:10[SPEAKER_24]: All of us, yeah.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_13]: It's the tax fairs and water challenge from that go on, and in the same thing will happen around, I'm already geared up for June, or they're in budget time.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_13]: Is that something's going to change budget time?
- 55:23[SPEAKER_10]: No.
- 55:23[UNKNOWN]: No.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_13]: So, like I almost said, the only difference between a problem in a solution is the people understand the solution.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_13]: What's the problem?
- 55:34[SPEAKER_13]: How can we get around?
- 55:35[SPEAKER_13]: How can we do the problem?
- 55:37[SPEAKER_13]: As far as lowering taxes, trimming the budget, they know what to do, but they just don't want to do it.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_13]: And the city residents will go up there and voice their disapproval.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_13]: Don't just, well, that's the way it is, that's the way, well, that's the way I guess that's the way it's going to be in 2026, somebody doesn't speak up, okay?
- 55:59[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, so what?
- 56:02[SPEAKER_10]: What about the lingering effects of the last year's fight again?
- 56:05[SPEAKER_10]: Old May filed ethics complaints?
- 56:08[SPEAKER_10]: Should those be just thrown out into the trash or do they have to be dealt with?
- 56:13[SPEAKER_13]: Well, the thing is, it was brought up and they, they're pursued it, right to the bitter end and there was nothing, there was, no, I mean, these are the ones that Old May brought up.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_13]: Oh, I'm not on top of those, do you know where's he just brought up?
- 56:28[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, and then the thing about Miss Wajero,
- 56:32[SPEAKER_10]: says she submitted illegal bills to the city saying you know you forced me into doing this and uh... you city legal resources to do it and uh... she wants to be reimbursed i don't really blame her i don't think she needs it you know but if you found innocent i don't know it's just i'm not and i think the prep would have been solved is there they're already
- 56:56[SPEAKER_13]: They're already going out at the end of December.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_13]: Why did we just continue there?
- 57:01[SPEAKER_13]: Okay, why didn't we just send it right there?
- 57:03[SPEAKER_13]: Okay, let's start off fresh, okay, they got voted out.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_13]: And move on, why didn't we keep pursuing stuff straight to the bitter end?
- 57:11[SPEAKER_13]: You know what I mean?
- 57:14[SPEAKER_13]: I didn't make any sense of me.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_13]: You know, I'm against spending tax for everybody anyway.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_13]: I legal fees, what is it?
- 57:20[SPEAKER_13]: 375, 400 bucks an hour, just keep racking it up, racking it up.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_13]: And then their philosophy is no big deal, just raise the taxes, they don't pay for it.
- 57:31[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, they don't care.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_10]: Well, I'll let you go.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_10]: All right, thank you so much.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_10]: I miss him.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, we're still doing the hotline here.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_10]: We've got a minute left.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_10]: And let's see.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_10]: What are we going to talk about anything else?
- 57:51[SPEAKER_10]: We could talk about our North Country weather forecast, which has been kind of spotty lately, although next week, I understand it's supposed to get, well, it's only 19 now.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_10]: We expect chilly temperatures right on into next week with cloudy conditions.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_10]: Maybe a chance of snow here and there, but I think we're going to stay away from most of that in that next week, but midweek, actually.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_10]: We're expecting higher temperatures, maybe up in the 30s, perhaps even the low 40s.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_10]: So, there you go, there you go, 755, 1240, the phone number.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_10]: If you'd like to be on the air today and kind of go from there, if you will.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_10]: All right, we just got a minute left.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_10]: So if you want to get that in, we've had a lot of stories to talk about.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_10]: And when we come back on Monday, we'll talk more about that whole thing with the Sheriff Carponelli.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_10]: That's interesting.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_10]: I'd love to get him on the air Monday.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_10]: Maybe we can, we can try to line him up and see if we can't interview him, at least by phone, because that sounded like a real, real scary thing over there, and you know, I don't know.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_10]: I don't know.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_10]: Who would have thought?
- 59:05[SPEAKER_10]: I mean, they got to arrest somebody in all of that.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_10]: You know, because they were roughing up the officer, that's bad enough, but I don't know, that's kind of weird.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_10]: That's kind of weird.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_10]: Okay.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, all right.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_10]: Well, that is our show for today.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_10]: I'll be back Monday.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_10]: You know, it's been a great year going by, but also we're kind of looking forward to the year ahead, and you know, we got to touch on the tough issues and we got to, you know, but we really hope things get better.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_10]: And especially down there at City Hall, a lot of raw, raw feelings with people resentments, regrets
- 59:51[SPEAKER_10]: I mean, you can still see it seeping into this year with some things, and it's not good.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_10]: Anyway, that's about our show on the Hotline 9A, I'm 1240, WATN, what
