- 0:10Speaker 2: All right back here and Patriot's Unfiltered live from Radio
- 0:13Speaker 2: Road Super Bowl sixty, San Francisco, the Moscow Convention Center.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It's Duce, it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Alex.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I mean, uh, Anthony Matt Behind the scenes. That was
- 0:27Speaker 2: doctor Chow. Like Paul said, great follow He just reports
- 0:31Speaker 2: it as he sees it, and you know, like you
- 0:33Speaker 2: don't want to hear it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: As a patriot, sometimes you don't want to hear it. Yeah,
- 0:37Speaker 3: I did not want to hear I gotta be okay.
- 0:41Speaker 3: But him saying it doesn't make him any better or worse.
- 0:44Speaker 4: So, you know, No, he's a nice guy, and I
- 0:46Speaker 4: mean he's just trying to provide some you know, insight
- 0:48Speaker 4: from his experience. And I think it's good when you
- 0:51Speaker 4: can get someone like him on an interview like this
- 0:53Speaker 4: and you can see the person behind the tweet, yeah,
- 0:56Speaker 4: and get to understand his motivation.
- 0:58Speaker 5: That play, actually, Landry actual happened at the very beginning
- 1:01Speaker 5: of the game. It was the first quarter, eight fifty five. Yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 5: I was looking I was looking forward to the play by player,
- 1:06Speaker 5: one of the first players of the game, and he
- 1:08Speaker 5: got rolled up on and I remember all of us
- 1:10Speaker 5: to get it at the time, Fred and in the
- 1:12Speaker 5: press box like that might be season ending injury, and
- 1:15Speaker 5: all of a sudden he was back on the field
- 1:16Speaker 5: and I was playing.
- 1:17Speaker 6: It was crazy.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I remember that we all thought the worst. But yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 2: he's fought through it, but there's something going on.
- 1:23Speaker 6: Yeah, well he hasn't.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Played, you know, recently, and yeah, I can hear you
- 1:27Speaker 5: can hear it in Rabel's voice, just how gutt it
- 1:30Speaker 5: he is that he couldn't, you know, continue to play.
- 1:33Speaker 7: And he seems like that.
- 1:35Speaker 4: And I like doctor Chow talking about you've got to
- 1:37Speaker 4: figure out who's active on Super Bowl game day. But
- 1:39Speaker 4: the relationship between Harold Landry and Mike Rabel just makes
- 1:42Speaker 4: me think that if there's any possibility that Harold Landry
- 1:46Speaker 4: can give them something and they don't really really really
- 1:48Speaker 4: need the roster spot that he's going to play in this.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Game, that's the point.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And you know, doctor chowb brought it up too, is
- 1:54Speaker 2: you have to weigh that roster spot. Yeah, is you know, uh,
- 1:59Speaker 2: Robert Spilly at seventy worth keeping that spot rather than
- 2:04Speaker 2: putting somebody else out there who you know can contribute
- 2:08Speaker 2: valuably on special teams or whatever.
- 2:11Speaker 8: So especially with how some of their replacements have played.
- 2:14Speaker 9: And I think that's also what kind of separates him. Well,
- 2:16Speaker 9: you know, I'm not listen. Doctor Child's a big, big man.
- 2:19Speaker 9: He can promote himself. But another reason why I like
- 2:22Speaker 9: his perspective is because he was that he was a
- 2:25Speaker 9: former NFL head physician. So he's not just giving you
- 2:29Speaker 9: the medical. He's not looking and saying, oh, that looks
- 2:31Speaker 9: like a B and C.
- 2:32Speaker 6: He's thinking about football.
- 2:34Speaker 9: He's telling you what goes into the roster decisions because
- 2:37Speaker 9: he was part of it. Like he's dealing with the
- 2:40Speaker 9: head coaches and saying, Okay, this guy is seventy five percent,
- 2:44Speaker 9: do you need an eighth offensive lineman? Do you need
- 2:46Speaker 9: a sixth linebacker? Like these are the decisions that the
- 2:48Speaker 9: coaches are making, and he's helping make that based on
- 2:52Speaker 9: the medical. So it's not just a doctor who might
- 2:55Speaker 9: just be able to diagnose the medical.
- 2:57Speaker 6: He's diagnosing the football to a little bit.
- 2:59Speaker 8: Yeah, always affect.
- 3:00Speaker 5: That's always fascinating to me, And I obviously write up
- 3:02Speaker 5: the inactives every week before the game, and like you
- 3:05Speaker 5: can tell exactly most of the time what the thinking
- 3:08Speaker 5: is here. You know, they they do want that extra
- 3:10Speaker 5: offensive lineman, which is a free game day roster spot.
- 3:13Speaker 5: By the way, you can carry forty seven on the
- 3:15Speaker 5: game day roster if you have eight offensive linemen eligible.
- 3:17Speaker 5: So you know, you can do things like that to
- 3:20Speaker 5: manipulate the roster. And oftentimes it does come down to
- 3:23Speaker 5: things like, you know, the little things that we don't
- 3:25Speaker 5: really think about too much.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yep, all right, eight five five past five hundred is
- 3:29Speaker 2: the hotline. Let's go back to the phones. Let's go
- 3:32Speaker 2: to Shae in Nova Scotia. Hey, Shae, Shaye, Hey, how's.
- 3:39Speaker 10: The go good?
- 3:40Speaker 7: What's up?
- 3:42Speaker 11: Not too much?
- 3:44Speaker 2: Man?
- 3:44Speaker 11: Well, I'm so excited to call in. I just want
- 3:47Speaker 11: to thank you guys for the show. It's been super
- 3:49Speaker 11: entertaining over the past few weeks. I'm a new listener
- 3:51Speaker 11: here from from Hellifax. I just want to thank you guys.
- 3:54Speaker 3: All right, Oh, thank you for alco Aboard. Yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 11: Yeah, I've been a patriot. Span is about six seven
- 4:01Speaker 11: years old, so I've been able to bear witness the
- 4:03Speaker 11: five Super Bowls. Actually from Halifax. Here's the same high
- 4:06Speaker 11: school as brad Mark John. Oh, I know that I
- 4:10Speaker 11: was the old name where you guys are from.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Yeah, certainly is special.
- 4:14Speaker 3: So do you have a question or you're just saying, hey,
- 4:16Speaker 3: nice Starbuck.
- 4:18Speaker 11: Hey guys, like guys, you guys, great job on the show,
- 4:21Speaker 11: and just want to thank you guys a lot for that.
- 4:23Speaker 5: I appreciate the thanks, appreciateing new callers, new calls, super
- 4:27Speaker 5: Bowl people finding us.
- 4:29Speaker 9: They're like young Fred kershis, they just find the teams
- 4:31Speaker 9: that are successful.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Well, speaking of new callers, here's one that is certainly
- 4:35Speaker 2: not a new caller. Eldred's in North Carolina. What's up Eldred? Aldred?
- 4:42Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no, not big eieh. All right, well
- 4:47Speaker 2: saw that's so big. How about Joby in California? What's up, Joby?
- 4:53Speaker 12: Josh Joe?
- 4:54Speaker 13: Hey, dear Phyllis, how's it going today?
- 4:55Speaker 3: We're good good.
- 4:57Speaker 13: Let's startling up, Dandy, another beautiful day.
- 4:59Speaker 14: Up.
- 5:00Speaker 13: You're in lovely northern California. Yeah, I wrote you guys.
- 5:05Speaker 13: The offer still open if you guys want to come
- 5:06Speaker 13: up to the North Bay A, Sonoma and NAPA and
- 5:09Speaker 13: go do a little white tasting trying to reach out.
- 5:12Speaker 13: All right, was really glad to hear about that that
- 5:16Speaker 13: interview with the doctor. I have the exact same injury. Actually,
- 5:19Speaker 13: I have a grade three AC separation.
- 5:22Speaker 3: And when I.
- 5:23Speaker 13: First saw Drake go down, I was like, oh, that's
- 5:25Speaker 13: easily a grade one so it doesn't mess with my
- 5:30Speaker 13: throwing at all. So I think he's going to be fine.
- 5:32Speaker 13: But you know, at the end of the day, whatever
- 5:34Speaker 13: the doctor say, go. But you know, I was not,
- 5:37Speaker 13: as I guess, worried about it last week as a
- 5:40Speaker 13: lot of people were making it out speat just because
- 5:41Speaker 13: I've had I've gone through it myself and didn't have surgery.
- 5:45Speaker 3: So what does it mess with? You said, It doesn't
- 5:48Speaker 3: mess with you.
- 5:48Speaker 13: So it's basically it's the tendon that connects your collar
- 5:52Speaker 13: bone to your shoulder, so you just you end up
- 5:55Speaker 13: feeling like a clicking or moving around and it will
- 6:00Speaker 13: stick out a little bit, and you know, like my
- 6:01Speaker 13: shoulder has got about sixteen millimeters of extra gap in
- 6:05Speaker 13: it because it's the tendant completely tore. And the doc said, look,
- 6:09Speaker 13: you know it. You can either go twelve weeks with
- 6:12Speaker 13: not using it with surgery, or realistically it's not going
- 6:16Speaker 13: to interfere with your quality of life, and that's the
- 6:19Speaker 13: option I went with. So if it's only a grade one,
- 6:21Speaker 13: it should probably heal pretty well.
- 6:23Speaker 2: All right, Well, Joby, I appreciate the call a little
- 6:26Speaker 2: insight on shoulder injuries.
- 6:28Speaker 7: I've had it as well. Mine was a grade too.
- 6:30Speaker 7: I did not have surgery. Really, I broke it. Bro Yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 7: yeah it was. It was. Uh, it's annoying.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I mean I still have a bump like where my
- 6:38Speaker 4: collarbone sticks up. But yeah, it's not fun sleeping for
- 6:42Speaker 4: a couple of weeks. But you need surgery. They go
- 6:45Speaker 4: in and just put a pin and basically pin it
- 6:46Speaker 4: back down.
- 6:47Speaker 3: You never had the surgery.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I didn't have the surgery. It was the same thing
- 6:50Speaker 4: as what Joby said. They were like, you can, but
- 6:53Speaker 4: you know, probably don't need it. You've got a couple
- 6:54Speaker 4: more ligaments in there still kind of holding it together.
- 6:56Speaker 4: But now that I'm getting old, it's like this was
- 6:59Speaker 4: a senior or a high school injury. It's like the
- 7:01Speaker 4: weather changes, or I sleep on it wrong, you know,
- 7:04Speaker 4: feels a little bit achy.
- 7:06Speaker 6: Yeah, so you're soft.
- 7:07Speaker 7: Yeah I looks soft.
- 7:08Speaker 6: You know that you're gonna be all right.
- 7:10Speaker 3: We already knew that we've.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Only had like three injuries. I'm very proud of all
- 7:13Speaker 7: of them.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Okay, all right, let's see. Oh Claire rights in just
- 7:18Speaker 3: a shout out, where's Claire Band?
- 7:20Speaker 15: Hello?
- 7:20Speaker 3: Everyone?
- 7:21Speaker 8: Hello, e Marine Hello.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Just a quick shout out, She says, hope you're having
- 7:26Speaker 2: a fab time.
- 7:28Speaker 7: We are. We definitely are.
- 7:31Speaker 4: It's interesting as it's it's kind of like the combine
- 7:34Speaker 4: on steroids.
- 7:35Speaker 7: I would say that's the closest thing at.
- 7:36Speaker 9: Least for being at media rows in here today, like
- 7:39Speaker 9: just more so than yesterday of convention centers.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Yeah, Like I do usually contribute.
- 7:44Speaker 4: To that, That's true, Mitch and Saratoga Rights and curious
- 7:49Speaker 4: if you guys have any opinions on this being.
- 7:51Speaker 2: The first Super Bowl since Super Bowl fifty to be
- 7:54Speaker 2: played outside during the daytime. It gives it a much
- 7:57Speaker 2: different look on TV outside in the sun point.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it does.
- 8:01Speaker 4: We especially like it for just the timing of the
- 8:03Speaker 4: day where you're not going to get out of the
- 8:06Speaker 4: game at eleven o'clock at night and then there'll be
- 8:08Speaker 4: some kind of party and then you got to get
- 8:09Speaker 4: on a plane.
- 8:09Speaker 7: Like it just makes a shorter night. It's nice, longer night.
- 8:13Speaker 9: You know, you know, you have to get out of
- 8:14Speaker 9: the game, you know, go to a party, party, and
- 8:16Speaker 9: then get on a plane.
- 8:18Speaker 7: Oh god, sorry, hashtag problems. It is interesting.
- 8:22Speaker 5: It is interesting that it's outside though, And I know
- 8:24Speaker 5: this is a warm weather climate outside and usually very
- 8:27Speaker 5: nice weather in northern California.
- 8:30Speaker 8: But there was some rain potentially forecasted.
- 8:33Speaker 6: Still a slight chance of rain.
- 8:35Speaker 7: Yeah, and you know.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I would prefer Super Bowls to be played inside, but
- 8:40Speaker 5: beggars can't be choosers.
- 8:41Speaker 8: So here we are.
- 8:43Speaker 3: There's a lot of commotion going on.
- 8:45Speaker 7: Yeah, don't you read some of it?
- 8:47Speaker 6: Why don't you read some of those emails?
- 8:49Speaker 4: Who's that woman with the blonde and the any agar?
- 8:53Speaker 4: So that's why she does she does the NFL team meetings.
- 8:56Speaker 7: That is funny.
- 8:56Speaker 3: It's just funny.
- 8:57Speaker 6: Yeah, she's got jokes. She's actually a very Those videos are.
- 9:01Speaker 7: Very fust job.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Let's see Andrew from Coronado, California.
- 9:06Speaker 7: You know Coronado, Yes, Celtic sound in San Diego.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Okay, team podcasts are gonna be the difference maker in
- 9:12Speaker 2: the Super Bowl. Offense, defense and special teams won't really
- 9:15Speaker 2: play a factor.
- 9:16Speaker 3: But our podcast is number one in the league.
- 9:18Speaker 2: By every metric, whether it be d v O, a
- 9:21Speaker 2: snark feel for the league, ball knowing us, or muttered
- 9:24Speaker 2: sarcastic comments and will dominate whatever trash Seattle puts out there.
- 9:28Speaker 6: I lead the league in two categories.
- 9:30Speaker 2: We have the best and longest tenured podcast coordinator and Fred.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And if the fourth quarter comes down a last to
- 9:36Speaker 2: a last minute gotta have it moment where someone needs
- 9:39Speaker 2: to find pictures on the Internet of some players unit
- 9:41Speaker 2: that got leaked. Fred comes through every time. I'll take
- 9:45Speaker 2: your comments off.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Here, Andrew, Andrew, you could have really gone on with
- 9:49Speaker 4: that one with you know, Evan's a tight pantsky.
- 9:51Speaker 3: We got the schemea, et cetera.
- 9:54Speaker 9: But but snark and you know, stark, sarcastic under the
- 9:59Speaker 9: breath comments.
- 9:59Speaker 7: I lead the league in two cabins.
- 10:02Speaker 4: They don't hit quite as much. Now that we have
- 10:03Speaker 4: the headphones back on, I feel like the headphones.
- 10:05Speaker 6: Have really sarcastic comments because it gets picked.
- 10:07Speaker 7: Everyone knows.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Let's go back to a line of North Carolina and
- 10:13Speaker 2: Francisco was, of course from North Carolina.
- 10:16Speaker 3: What's going on? Francisco?
- 10:19Speaker 16: Hey, what's going on?
- 10:20Speaker 12: Guy?
- 10:23Speaker 16: So I'm gonna start off by uh, so I don't know.
- 10:26Speaker 16: I think we might be losing a lot of calls
- 10:28Speaker 16: because like we can't like while we're on hold, we
- 10:30Speaker 16: can't hear the show like we usually came when you're
- 10:32Speaker 16: in studio.
- 10:33Speaker 7: Oh is that right?
- 10:34Speaker 10: But uh yeah?
- 10:35Speaker 16: But so would I be correcting? I was watching the
- 10:39Speaker 16: Pro Bowl during the instruction. Would I be correcting saying
- 10:41Speaker 16: that we played every Pro Bowl starter like on the defense?
- 10:47Speaker 7: Paul, what do you think?
- 10:49Speaker 6: I don't know what that means.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Have we played every Pro Bowl starter?
- 10:52Speaker 5: I believe I believe that is. I didn't play North Sanders,
- 10:56Speaker 5: no Pro Bowl starter. I just thought we were talking
- 10:59Speaker 5: about Pro Bowl just now Pro Bowl starters on defense.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I believe that I saw somewhere that that was accurate. Okay,
- 11:06Speaker 5: but a lot of them, of course, are like consolidated
- 11:09Speaker 5: to a handful of teams.
- 11:10Speaker 8: So if you played those teams.
- 11:11Speaker 6: And the people that will go, how many people don't go?
- 11:15Speaker 6: I'm just saying, right, Pro.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Bowl has become as much a joke as Pro Football.
- 11:19Speaker 7: Hall of Fame voters did see.
- 11:21Speaker 9: There was a huge comeback, right the NFC was down
- 11:23Speaker 9: big and came back last night.
- 11:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I got to be honest, that may or may
- 11:26Speaker 6: not be true. I have no idea.
- 11:28Speaker 8: I honestly didn't even know it was on.
- 11:29Speaker 7: No, I didn't either.
- 11:32Speaker 4: I think it's a little too bad because I did
- 11:33Speaker 4: enjoy like the week after the Super Bowl, and you
- 11:36Speaker 4: kind of have like that Pro Bowl in hawaii'd be
- 11:38Speaker 4: a little unwined session. You'd see, you know, your favorite
- 11:41Speaker 4: players kind of haveing fun. You'd hear from them, Like
- 11:43Speaker 4: I just like the how it capped the season.
- 11:45Speaker 5: I just don't never watched it's Teddy Bruski. I don't
- 11:48Speaker 5: think that there's any fixing it because he.
- 11:53Speaker 9: Said no Teddy, I was just yelling randomly out.
- 12:01Speaker 5: NBA is having the same issue with their All Star Game,
- 12:03Speaker 5: Like the players don't care anymore, they don't play any defense.
- 12:06Speaker 5: The players clearly don't want to play in a tackle
- 12:08Speaker 5: football game in the NFL anymore either. Like it's just
- 12:11Speaker 5: it's an outdated thing. It just run its course, and
- 12:14Speaker 5: I don't know why we're trying to force it and
- 12:16Speaker 5: come up with these new ideas of how to make
- 12:18Speaker 5: it a more compelling product. Like I think it's just
- 12:22Speaker 5: kind of the bad is just kind of run out.
- 12:23Speaker 7: And kind of run out of options too.
- 12:25Speaker 4: I mean I appreciate that they're maybe trying stuff to
- 12:27Speaker 4: try and everything, you know, and I guess on paper,
- 12:30Speaker 4: when I first heard they might give it a try
- 12:31Speaker 4: with flag football, it's like, oh, that might be kind
- 12:33Speaker 4: of fun, but it just doesn't really translate.
- 12:35Speaker 8: Well, it is flagfubl.
- 12:36Speaker 4: I mean, that's what I mean. It's just it's not compelling.
- 12:39Speaker 4: It's not a compelling game.
- 12:41Speaker 8: No, it's not.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Let's see. Patrick writes, and he wants to know.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Are the Patriots the only team in the NFL where
- 12:47Speaker 2: all three quarterbacks have a nickname? You got Drake Drake
- 12:49Speaker 2: May May the pastronaut, and Tommy Cutlets.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I don't know. I have to do a deep dive
- 12:57Speaker 3: into the depth charts that one.
- 12:58Speaker 8: That seems like a deuce.
- 12:59Speaker 6: I'm gonna oh, yes, yes, with that one.
- 13:01Speaker 7: They're the only ones, the only ones.
- 13:04Speaker 3: So Dobbs is called the pastornat correct. I didn't know that?
- 13:07Speaker 7: Yeah? Remember when he who he sent somebody to outer space.
- 13:10Speaker 17: To this year?
- 13:15Speaker 7: That's no longer the league negative? Which one was it? Though?
- 13:22Speaker 7: You guys know what I'm talking about, right?
- 13:23Speaker 4: It was like, I think the preseason got somebody lit
- 13:26Speaker 4: up like the pastor not just hent someone joined me
- 13:31Speaker 4: gravity free.
- 13:32Speaker 9: Was that a practice or or preseason you know, I
- 13:35Speaker 9: think it was preseason game.
- 13:36Speaker 7: I think it's a preseason game. He got he hit
- 13:38Speaker 7: somebody like on a slant late and they got you.
- 13:40Speaker 7: I didn't pop you.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Are mean, Let's see, Jeremiah writes in Hearing that Man talk,
- 13:47Speaker 2: and the man he's talking about is Howard balls are
- 13:50Speaker 2: affirmed my opinion that all the Hall of Fame voters
- 13:53Speaker 2: have to go. If this is how they overthink the
- 13:55Speaker 2: process of blame the system for making it hard on them,
- 13:58Speaker 2: then they need new blood that can handle the process.
- 14:01Speaker 2: It should be as simple as are they the elites
- 14:04Speaker 2: of the game and not this guy got.
- 14:06Speaker 9: Just so maybe this guy so you didn't listen to
- 14:08Speaker 9: anything he said because he just told you that it's
- 14:10Speaker 9: not that simple, because it's not allowed to be that simple.
- 14:14Speaker 7: He just explained to you, right and.
- 14:16Speaker 9: Actually painstaking detail of why it's not that simple. The
- 14:21Speaker 9: whole process needs to be overhauled again, and they keep
- 14:24Speaker 9: overhauling it seemingly every few years.
- 14:26Speaker 6: Because I think it's a problem.
- 14:28Speaker 5: It's hard for people to sort of do the math
- 14:30Speaker 5: in their head while they're listening. But the way he
- 14:32Speaker 5: broke it down where if one person gets forty votes,
- 14:35Speaker 5: there's only seventy other votes that are now available for
- 14:38Speaker 5: the other four candidates to get it.
- 14:40Speaker 8: And it's just the numbers game. Yeah, right, Yeah.
- 14:43Speaker 6: And that's what he's trying. It's not that they can't
- 14:45Speaker 6: figure it out.
- 14:46Speaker 9: It's he just said, point blank the stuff that our
- 14:49Speaker 9: listeners have been saying for two weeks. It should just
- 14:52Speaker 9: be yes or no. Yeah, And they're right, the listeners
- 14:56Speaker 9: have been right. I was kind of wrong because I
- 14:57Speaker 9: think I originally didn't really understand what they were saying
- 14:59Speaker 9: at the time, but now I get what they're saying,
- 15:03Speaker 9: and they're right.
- 15:04Speaker 6: And Howard just.
- 15:05Speaker 9: Explained it like there's nobody in that room. He didn't
- 15:08Speaker 9: think that would say no on Bill Belichick or Robert Kraft,
- 15:13Speaker 9: but they're not allowed to say yes.
- 15:15Speaker 3: For all of them, which is that's the flaw.
- 15:18Speaker 9: It's not because he's too old to understand it.
- 15:21Speaker 6: It's it's just a it's a bad system's.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Cats that they put on it.
- 15:25Speaker 7: It's a flawed process.
- 15:26Speaker 3: It's not good. It's it's not good. Let's see.
- 15:31Speaker 2: David writes in question for Evan, could you ease my
- 15:34Speaker 2: mind a little bit by explaining how we can have
- 15:36Speaker 2: a chance against the Seattle defense. I believe we can
- 15:39Speaker 2: have a good, if not great game outside of us
- 15:42Speaker 2: gassing our offense while they will just pull and replace
- 15:45Speaker 2: their players.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I don't know what that means.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Lpnie pas Hey, Okay, he's gonna be on later.
- 15:51Speaker 6: I believe he's coming by it later.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:54Speaker 6: See, players used to know who I was.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Did you have some time at the pool with him
- 15:58Speaker 3: in San Diego?
- 15:59Speaker 8: We don't like to talk. Excuse me, due I forgot.
- 16:02Speaker 6: Rodney Harrison body shames Meade. I mean that's probably.
- 16:09Speaker 3: So.
- 16:11Speaker 2: If you if we go back to the Patriots playing
- 16:13Speaker 2: their best offense, yep, can they have success against the
- 16:17Speaker 2: Seattle defense?
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 16:18Speaker 5: And I I think the two maybe three biggest things.
- 16:21Speaker 5: And I'm sure we'll get into more of the nerd
- 16:23Speaker 5: stuff on catch twenty two, but I think the biggest
- 16:26Speaker 5: things that you see, they've played really four really good
- 16:31Speaker 5: defenses so far. This is actually, by the numbers, the
- 16:35Speaker 5: worst deep ball defense that they've played. Now, the Seahawks
- 16:39Speaker 5: are still twelfth in completion rate against deep balls, which
- 16:42Speaker 5: is still very good.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Uh.
- 16:43Speaker 5: But the Broncos, the Texans and the Chargers were all
- 16:46Speaker 5: top five in that statistics. So there are certain guys,
- 16:50Speaker 5: I would say, especially Josh Job their third corner. Even
- 16:54Speaker 5: Devin Witherspoon's had some issues, you know, defending deep passes
- 16:58Speaker 5: this season, So I think that that's one thing that
- 17:01Speaker 5: maybe they could get going against Seattle. I mentioned the
- 17:04Speaker 5: out of structure play making from May. I think that's
- 17:07Speaker 5: maybe the biggest thing, especially because they do play so
- 17:10Speaker 5: much zone coverage that's really difficult to kind of break
- 17:14Speaker 5: down in structure. If he can get out of the pocket,
- 17:18Speaker 5: if he can extend plays, if he can move around
- 17:21Speaker 5: and make those guys on the back end cover for
- 17:23Speaker 5: four or five seconds, maybe guys can pop open that way.
- 17:27Speaker 5: And everybody has tried this, everybody has failed. But in
- 17:32Speaker 5: a Super Bowl, you never know. They are a two
- 17:35Speaker 5: high safety defense. They're gonna play with lighter boxes. They're
- 17:38Speaker 5: gonna play one short in the box. So can the
- 17:41Speaker 5: Patriots find a way to I think Paul said it
- 17:44Speaker 5: earlier in the show, you know, can they break a
- 17:47Speaker 5: run and maybe it's not. Maybe all the other runs
- 17:50Speaker 5: go for two yards or less, but maybe that one
- 17:54Speaker 5: run is for fifty and that is enough to kind
- 17:57Speaker 5: of tilt the game a little bit. So I think
- 17:59Speaker 5: that those are the three areas. You know, they have
- 18:01Speaker 5: the number one run defense in football by pretty much
- 18:03Speaker 5: every metric, despite the fact that they play so much
- 18:06Speaker 5: zone in so much too high safety shell which is backwards.
- 18:09Speaker 8: Right, it makes a sore remarking yeah right, yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 5: And you know Byron Murphy I think is really him
- 18:14Speaker 5: and Leonard Williams are the two guys that are just
- 18:16Speaker 5: impossible to move on the inside. So can the Patriots
- 18:20Speaker 5: be one of the few teams that have been able
- 18:22Speaker 5: to run on them a little bit?
- 18:23Speaker 7: Yep?
- 18:24Speaker 2: All right, good time for a break. It's twelve thirty three,
- 18:27Speaker 2: so that's our mark. Uh so we're gonna take a break.
- 18:32Speaker 2: We'll be right back with more from Radio Row at

- 28:13Speaker 3: It's gonna be standing room only around us.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Have you guys noticed like random people just like taking
- 28:18Speaker 4: videos of us and like seen a couple like cameras.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm used to that.
- 28:23Speaker 6: I'm used to be.
- 28:25Speaker 8: I'm not, and I don't really care for it.

- 29:10Speaker 7: It seems like he's got people working.
- 29:11Speaker 5: It's a combination of now x pays you for impressions.
- 29:15Speaker 5: Then you also, like most of these places nowadays, it's
- 29:18Speaker 5: like they're selling ads, you know, for their podcasts and
- 29:21Speaker 5: their YouTube channels and their everything sponsored and you just
- 29:26Speaker 5: that's how you know, that's how Clinis does it. It

- 29:43Speaker 5: You know, we have the dinner tonight, so you know,
- 29:45Speaker 5: it's a little tight tonight, but I think tomorrow or Friday.
- 29:47Speaker 4: I'm sure they keep updating us on every move that
- 29:50Speaker 4: they make during the super Bowl, and I can't wait.
- 29:52Speaker 5: To Yeah, if I need to know where any of
- 29:53Speaker 5: them are, just check their their Twitter feed and they'll
- 29:56Speaker 5: tell me.
- 29:56Speaker 6: You know, they are having the tie the chronicling.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Well, I just saw I saw, I saw Catholic walk by,
- 30:04Speaker 4: and I'm guaranteeing that there's probably like a pin tweet
- 30:08Speaker 4: with like a pin like and it's just says like
- 30:09Speaker 4: media row and like then there's a picture of it
- 30:11Speaker 4: that's probably I'm guessing where is he?
- 30:14Speaker 7: I want to make fun of him.
- 30:14Speaker 6: I did see Kadolic in the We were in the
- 30:17Speaker 6: middle of one of our interviews.
- 30:18Speaker 2: We walked back, like you know sunrise and San Francisco
- 30:21Speaker 2: check it, like we.
- 30:23Speaker 36: Know sunset in California, midnight in California.
- 30:28Speaker 6: That's my second scene, Cetter setter dump scene cland.
- 30:41Speaker 3: See how I get this to go off track?
- 30:43Speaker 6: You do?
- 30:44Speaker 37: You do?
- 30:44Speaker 7: Fred? All right?
- 30:45Speaker 2: Eldred is trying to get back on track from North Carolina.
- 30:48Speaker 3: What's up Eldreids?
- 30:51Speaker 7: Come on?
- 30:52Speaker 3: What's up? Aldroid?
- 30:53Speaker 6: Eldred was like, I don't know. They haven't a hard
- 30:57Speaker 6: time I think.
- 30:57Speaker 2: With the yeah, so they can't hear the show, so
- 30:59Speaker 2: that the delay. I don't know when technology it's.
- 31:01Speaker 7: Got to take a leap of faith.
- 31:02Speaker 4: If you got something to say, you're gonna have to
- 31:04Speaker 4: not listen to the show for a few minutes.
- 31:06Speaker 3: About David in Virginia, what's up David? David? No, okay,
- 31:14Speaker 3: So I don't want to talk to you either.
- 31:18Speaker 5: Right when that happened, I was like everybody kept on
- 31:22Speaker 5: saying the mom from Home alone.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Died and I was like, the shits creak died.
- 31:26Speaker 8: Like what do you mean?
- 31:28Speaker 7: She is a true gem?
- 31:30Speaker 2: Sad Let's see Scott writes in scotcasts at Patriots dot Com.
- 31:36Speaker 3: He's in San Diego.
- 31:37Speaker 2: After the success of Good Jewels Hunting, I propose a
- 31:41Speaker 2: sequel that explains the complicated formula of how the Pro
- 31:44Speaker 2: Football Hall of Fame selects inductees. Open with Evan rolling
- 31:49Speaker 2: a bucket and mop through the hallways of Gillette Stadium.
- 31:52Speaker 2: He comes upon an empty whiteboard. He pulls out a
- 31:55Speaker 2: marker and dashes off a formula. Then he turns to
- 31:57Speaker 2: the camera to explain DVO divided by the EPA plus
- 32:02Speaker 2: C POE composite times the cube root of the waist
- 32:05Speaker 2: side of Vince wild Fork in twenty eleven. Cut to
- 32:09Speaker 2: close up of Paul because Duson Alex pummeling Evan with tomatoes.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Thanks for the great show.
- 32:14Speaker 6: Okay, an algorithm wouldn't work. I think Evan's algorithm would
- 32:18Speaker 6: just be like this.
- 32:20Speaker 5: Yes, no, no, no, yeah, seventeenth the Pittsburgh Steeler.
- 32:25Speaker 2: No right, Barton Poland fun fact, he says, although it's
- 32:31Speaker 2: the Patriots twelfth Super Bowl appearance, it's the first time
- 32:34Speaker 2: they will be playing in the Pacific time zone. Until
- 32:38Speaker 2: this year, the farthest they went west was Arizona. They
- 32:41Speaker 2: have played super Bowls and three other time zones and
- 32:44Speaker 2: one at least one in all three of them.
- 32:46Speaker 8: That's a fact.
- 32:47Speaker 7: That's a good that's a fun fact.
- 32:49Speaker 8: It's like a pack toid fact.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a little fact. Yeah, all right, it's good outdoors.
- 32:54Speaker 4: I mean, they're out of their element. But hey, when
- 32:56Speaker 4: you make twelve super Bowls, you're covering all your bases.
- 32:58Speaker 7: You're playing daytime, West Coast, East coast.
- 33:00Speaker 2: A couple of New Orleans, a couple of areas see
- 33:02Speaker 2: the day when the super Bowl is played outside of
- 33:05Speaker 2: the continental United States.
- 33:06Speaker 7: I hope, I bet you do.
- 33:08Speaker 6: Yep, I would say yes, I hopefully will not be
- 33:11Speaker 6: part of that.
- 33:13Speaker 36: Well, there's been a bunch of announcements, right, They're gonna
- 33:15Speaker 36: play a game in Paris next year, nine International Games
- 33:18Speaker 36: nine and Evan and the Patriots are going to Seattle,
- 33:22Speaker 36: They're going to la.
- 33:23Speaker 6: They're going to Detroit on Thanksgiving.
- 33:26Speaker 3: There might be go playing a game in Siberia.
- 33:29Speaker 7: I don't know is that on the list.
- 33:30Speaker 3: They probably international try to expand it.
- 33:33Speaker 6: Six primetime games.
- 33:34Speaker 7: It's gonna be a lot next year.
- 33:36Speaker 4: It's gonna be back to that twenty nineteen schedule where
- 33:38Speaker 4: it felt like they were on primetime. Or I've got
- 33:41Speaker 4: a lot of travel, a lot of good games though
- 33:44Speaker 4: that is true, four one pm games next year.
- 33:46Speaker 2: You think, oh wow, all right, let's try a good
- 33:49Speaker 2: fast try the phones again.
- 33:50Speaker 3: We'll go to Spi and Fresno. What's up, speed.
- 33:54Speaker 14: Yo, We're in the super Bowl again.
- 33:55Speaker 13: I can't believe that.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, babe, Kylevid, come on, this is nuts.
- 34:05Speaker 38: I'm trying to muster optimism and I believe that we
- 34:08Speaker 38: can do it.
- 34:08Speaker 6: But I think that I think that.
- 34:11Speaker 39: Drake's got to play like above average.
- 34:13Speaker 38: I'm I'm worried that. I mean, I kind I liked
- 34:16Speaker 38: the Bark conversation yesterday, kind of above and beyond the
- 34:19Speaker 38: excellent prostitutions office.
- 34:23Speaker 30: Well, you know, he got into the whole.
- 34:25Speaker 39: He started making allusions.
- 34:27Speaker 38: I think that the net neutral thing, just talking.
- 34:29Speaker 37: About how to pass you through.
- 34:30Speaker 13: The bowls have featured like the strong.
- 34:31Speaker 38: Coach quarterback tandems with okay rosters versus the stooped up
- 34:35Speaker 38: rosters with the okay coach quarterback standems.
- 34:38Speaker 13: It was it was interesting.
- 34:39Speaker 38: And do you I wondered, particularly, haven't about all you guys.
- 34:43Speaker 19: Do you see.
- 34:44Speaker 38: Darnold at that kind of net neutral quarterback, and do
- 34:48Speaker 38: you think that this year is a is a potentially
- 34:51Speaker 38: good litmus test of that hypothesis with you know, Drake
- 34:54Speaker 38: may being presumably like an.
- 34:56Speaker 39: Above average to to even.
- 34:57Speaker 38: Better possibly great quarterback or is it like too soon
- 35:01Speaker 38: for Drake to be like that kind of figure in
- 35:04Speaker 38: this kind of situation.
- 35:06Speaker 5: I think that there's a lot of truth to that
- 35:09Speaker 5: about Donald in a similar way that I would say
- 35:11Speaker 5: to like Jalen Hurts, Like, there's obviously a lot of
- 35:14Speaker 5: things that Donald does that helps this offense go, but
- 35:17Speaker 5: when the conditions aren't great, his play does drop. And
- 35:20Speaker 5: I think Jalen Hurts has some limitations that are similar.
- 35:23Speaker 5: So in some ways I would see that. But I
- 35:25Speaker 5: think Donald's been really good for two years now and
- 35:29Speaker 5: maybe a little bit better than that. That's not really
- 35:31Speaker 5: probably fair to Sam Darnald to call him a true
- 35:35Speaker 5: net neutral quarterback because he's done it back to back
- 35:37Speaker 5: years in two different places at this point. But I
- 35:41Speaker 5: can hear some of the things about you know, when
- 35:45Speaker 5: the play actions rolling and the run games rolling and
- 35:48Speaker 5: he's protected, he's dynamite, and then when those sort of
- 35:51Speaker 5: easy buttons get stripped away from him, it does tend
- 35:54Speaker 5: to get a little bit more dicey.
- 35:55Speaker 9: Yeah, I would just say to back up off its
- 35:58Speaker 9: point here, like I can't see Seattle.
- 36:02Speaker 6: Like winning if he's a net neutral quarterback.
- 36:04Speaker 7: He's not.
- 36:05Speaker 6: He's got to be better than that in the game.
- 36:07Speaker 9: Just like Jalen Hurts, I would say, probably isn't much
- 36:10Speaker 9: more than a net neutral quarterback on the balance of
- 36:14Speaker 9: a regular season year after year after year. But in
- 36:18Speaker 9: the two years that they made Super Bowl runs, he
- 36:20Speaker 9: was much better than that, and especially in both Super Bowls,
- 36:23Speaker 9: he was vastly better.
- 36:24Speaker 6: Than that in the two actual games.
- 36:27Speaker 9: So it's easy to say, oh, yeah, all you need
- 36:30Speaker 9: is a net neutral quarterback when you have that roster.
- 36:32Speaker 9: But Joe Flacco had to play great when he got
- 36:35Speaker 9: to the postseason for the Ravens to finally win a
- 36:37Speaker 9: Super Bowl. So you need to be better than net
- 36:40Speaker 9: neutral in my view, just my opinion, when you actually
- 36:43Speaker 9: get that.
- 36:43Speaker 6: I don't think there's Seattle rosters as good as Phillies.
- 36:46Speaker 6: It's not a stacked roster compared to a quarterback. Coach Combo,
- 36:51Speaker 6: what do.
- 36:51Speaker 2: You think the chances in this game of being a
- 36:53Speaker 2: defensive slugfest, a really low scoring game.
- 36:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's possible for sure, because I think
- 37:02Speaker 5: both these quarterbacks could come into this game and be
- 37:05Speaker 5: a little bit overwhelmed by the defenses that they're facing.
- 37:07Speaker 5: And you know, I just was talking about Darnold's dip
- 37:10Speaker 5: in production when he's under pressure.
- 37:12Speaker 8: You know, he's got one of.
- 37:13Speaker 5: The biggest splits between kept cleaning under pressure in the NFL.
- 37:17Speaker 5: What the Patriots defense been doing for three straight games
- 37:20Speaker 5: is just getting after opposing quarterbacks. So if that continues
- 37:23Speaker 5: with the way Drake may has looked, that's why you know,
- 37:26Speaker 5: I've kind of come around to you know, Paul and
- 37:28Speaker 5: I were talking about, you know, would you rather play
- 37:31Speaker 5: the Rams or the Seahawks. You know, for coming into
- 37:33Speaker 5: this game, This game with the Seahawks does have a
- 37:37Speaker 5: chance to kind of be the same game they've been playing,
- 37:39Speaker 5: where it's a little bit of a struggle for both offenses,
- 37:42Speaker 5: and it's going to be you know, three or four
- 37:44Speaker 5: plays that tilt it one way or the other. And
- 37:46Speaker 5: so far the Patriots have been able to make those
- 37:48Speaker 5: big plays. But I could I could see that come
- 37:51Speaker 5: into fruition.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Okay, I hope not. I don't want to see it.
- 37:55Speaker 2: I want to see Drake May have a game you want.
- 37:58Speaker 7: To see Drake Drake May May feels dude May.
- 38:02Speaker 5: And I would say that it's not just Drake, it's
- 38:03Speaker 5: also Josh McDaniels, you know, like I feel like Josh
- 38:06Speaker 5: McDaniels because Drake May hasn't played very well in these games. Well,
- 38:11Speaker 5: they also haven't really popped open a lot of receivers
- 38:14Speaker 5: either in these games.
- 38:15Speaker 6: So does he have a you know, a great game
- 38:17Speaker 6: plan up his sleeve.
- 38:19Speaker 5: It seems like out of four playoff games, you would
- 38:21Speaker 5: think at some point Josh McDaniels would get the better
- 38:24Speaker 5: of a of a defensive play caller just with his acumen.
- 38:28Speaker 2: All right, back to the phones we go. Boston Cream
- 38:31Speaker 2: is on the line. What's up, Boston Cream? Hey, Boston Cream?
- 38:39Speaker 11: Eighty one second?
- 38:43Speaker 40: Sorry, guys, I have a here.
- 38:47Speaker 3: What you got to talk into the phone?
- 38:50Speaker 37: Uh?
- 38:51Speaker 40: You can play the video on the Patriots app while
- 38:54Speaker 40: unfold and you don't have to miss the show.
- 38:56Speaker 3: There you go.
- 38:57Speaker 4: Okay, double dipping, just perform multiple screens, just performing a
- 39:02Speaker 4: service for the fans.
- 39:04Speaker 40: Unfortunately it leads into an entrance like I just had,
- 39:07Speaker 40: but it doesn't work. Okay, Anyways, I'd like to take
- 39:11Speaker 40: this platform to say I'll be coming to Boston to
- 39:13Speaker 40: see a Patriots game next year, and I hope to
- 39:16Speaker 40: avoid all.
- 39:17Speaker 41: Of you guys.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Okay, okay, well we're talking companies.
- 39:23Speaker 40: In twenty eighteen, Uh, the people's MVP was clearly James Devlin.
- 39:29Speaker 40: If you guys were to pick a people's MVP this
- 39:32Speaker 40: year for the Super Bowl if we win, who would
- 39:36Speaker 40: you pick.
- 39:36Speaker 3: The people's MVP?
- 39:38Speaker 7: Say it, Fred, say it? You know you want it.
- 39:41Speaker 3: There's three of them the act the third though, thanks
- 39:48Speaker 3: Busting Cream.
- 39:49Speaker 9: That would be a record first ever in MVP from
- 39:53Speaker 9: an inactive player.
- 39:55Speaker 3: I was thinking a different one, but yeah, I'm only kidding.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Who do you think the people's VP?
- 40:00Speaker 5: I was gonna say Chius Toga, Like what if Toga
- 40:03Speaker 5: just has one of those run stuff in games.
- 40:05Speaker 6: Maybe he plays a little bit on offense.
- 40:07Speaker 5: And gets some you know, blocking in on short yardage
- 40:10Speaker 5: and helps him punch in a touchdown or something like that.
- 40:13Speaker 5: I just feel like he's been one of the fan
- 40:15Speaker 5: favorites all year long and and maybe he gets you
- 40:17Speaker 5: know a little bit more of that.
- 40:18Speaker 3: See.
- 40:19Speaker 2: I think it's a It's an interesting team in that
- 40:22Speaker 2: there are no superstars. You know, Drake may Is is
- 40:26Speaker 2: the star, but like a guy like Marcus Jones, why
- 40:29Speaker 2: can't he be a people's MVP. I know he was
- 40:32Speaker 2: a pro bowler and all that, but like, you know,
- 40:35Speaker 2: he's not that big star yet.
- 40:38Speaker 7: I like that, Paul.
- 40:40Speaker 9: Some people like to pick their run song heroes from,
- 40:42Speaker 9: you know, among the all pros, right, like Mike.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Like Mike, I said the same thing on the TV
- 40:47Speaker 4: show Fred. We were asked about on song hero and
- 40:49Speaker 4: I and I, you know, and Paul, that was a
- 40:50Speaker 4: great line. And credit to Paul is he's he's got
- 40:53Speaker 4: his sharp wit. But there is something about Marcus Jones
- 40:56Speaker 4: just his all around game, and he earned his recognition.
- 40:58Speaker 7: He deserves it.
- 40:58Speaker 4: But in some I think this is a compliment that
- 41:01Speaker 4: it's hard to think of this because you just think
- 41:03Speaker 4: everybody contributes and there's nobody really standing out that like
- 41:06Speaker 4: isn't getting noticed. Like everybody's been kind of an unsung
- 41:09Speaker 4: hero and made some plays at times, and right, you know,
- 41:12Speaker 4: it's not, oh, we have all these superstars, but this
- 41:14Speaker 4: one guy has really stepped up this year. I mean,
- 41:16Speaker 4: you know, Jack Gibbons has stepped up and yeah, you know,
- 41:20Speaker 4: Corey Durdin has stepped up, and Craig Woodson has stepped
- 41:23Speaker 4: up lately, and you know, Jalen Hawkins had you know,
- 41:25Speaker 4: led the team in interceptions. Those those are all guys
- 41:27Speaker 4: that have stepped up and made plays at key times
- 41:29Speaker 4: this season.
- 41:30Speaker 5: I like that Marcus Jones is starting to get some
- 41:32Speaker 5: national love now that the Patriots are back in the
- 41:34Speaker 5: Super Bowl, about what he's done on defense this year,
- 41:37Speaker 5: not just special teams, which is he's always been, you know,
- 41:40Speaker 5: highly thought of as a returner, but to see here
- 41:43Speaker 5: a lot of people nationally start talking about him as
- 41:45Speaker 5: as their slot and you know how he plays that
- 41:48Speaker 5: role and how he's been so great at it.
- 41:50Speaker 8: You know, it's cool to have him get some res.
- 41:52Speaker 4: I mean, how far away is Marcus Jones from being
- 41:55Speaker 4: in the I know he's not the guy now, but
- 41:57Speaker 4: being the greatest punt returner in nfls chyah. I mean
- 41:59Speaker 4: what does that look like for him to get there?
- 42:00Speaker 4: I mean he's had a great start. Yeah, he's certainly dynamic.
- 42:03Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean, I mean he's going to be in
- 42:04Speaker 6: that cover.
- 42:05Speaker 3: I mean he's in the what the return yardage numbers wise?
- 42:07Speaker 5: I believe he's got the highest return NFL as for
- 42:11Speaker 5: qualified returners. I think it's always going to be hard,
- 42:14Speaker 5: especially for my generation, uh to top Devin Hester.
- 42:17Speaker 8: Yeah, like like, I don't.
- 42:18Speaker 5: Know if anybody's ever gonna top Devin Hester. But that
- 42:22Speaker 5: might more be a nostalgia, you know, remembering the highlights
- 42:26Speaker 5: kind of thing, because Marcus Jones has him beat right
- 42:28Speaker 5: now in terms of just consistency and average.
- 42:31Speaker 7: Could be a real X factor of this game. I mean,
- 42:33Speaker 7: you know, and she he too.
- 42:34Speaker 4: On the other side, it's yep, I mean there's no
- 42:36Speaker 4: plays off on either side of the ball.
- 42:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Uh L from Wisconsin writes in I was nervous about
- 42:42Speaker 2: these shows when you said they're gonna be full of guests.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Maybe I'm just used the player interviews because I wasn't
- 42:47Speaker 2: looking forward to that. These shows have been fantastic so far.
- 42:51Speaker 6: Hell, he just became my favorite emailer of all time.
- 42:54Speaker 2: And pretty much every guest has been interesting. Couldn't be
- 42:56Speaker 2: happier to be wrong?
- 42:58Speaker 9: Yeah, So yep, I love that email. Yeah, we've had
- 43:03Speaker 9: it just happened as strongly you agree with it. A
- 43:05Speaker 9: good variety of guests talking about different things.
- 43:07Speaker 3: So that's good.
- 43:09Speaker 2: That's good. How about Chris and Tampa Bay you want
- 43:12Speaker 2: to give it a try? What's up, Chris, Chris, Chris
- 43:18Speaker 2: and Tampa Bay not following Boston Cream's advice.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Ye, what's going on? Chris?
- 43:25Speaker 14: Hey?
- 43:25Speaker 41: Sorry about that, fellas. I waited, Uh, I waited until
- 43:29Speaker 41: Super Bowl week to give you guys a callback. Can't
- 43:31Speaker 41: believe we're back? Huh? How about that?
- 43:32Speaker 3: How about it? That's got it better than us?
- 43:38Speaker 41: Yeah, nobody does. I got a little extras and those
- 43:41Speaker 41: question So I've heard you guys talk about it already.
- 43:44Speaker 41: So I'm thinking that the weather, you know, our offense
- 43:48Speaker 41: hasn't been able to you know, show much in the weather.
- 43:51Speaker 41: I think that might help us out. With the genius
- 43:53Speaker 41: that Josh has shown himself to be over the years. Obviously,
- 43:56Speaker 41: I'm expecting some trick plays, But do you guys share
- 43:59Speaker 41: that opinion that may the offense is going it got
- 44:02Speaker 41: you know, lucked out to be able to not show
- 44:03Speaker 41: a lot on film and then be able to come
- 44:06Speaker 41: out and really really take advantage of something Seattle may
- 44:09Speaker 41: not have seen that we've installed throughout the playoffs.
- 44:12Speaker 5: I guess I just my only like counter to that
- 44:16Speaker 5: line of thinking is maybe at the end of the
- 44:20Speaker 5: Denver game in the fourth quarter when it was a
- 44:22Speaker 5: blizzard and it was pretty clear that Denver couldn't move
- 44:24Speaker 5: the ball and the only way you were going to
- 44:26Speaker 5: lose the game is turning the ball over on your
- 44:27Speaker 5: one yard line and giving them a touchdown. They got
- 44:30Speaker 5: conservative or they you know, played a different style of football,
- 44:34Speaker 5: but I highly doubt that they went into like the
- 44:36Speaker 5: Texans game and called a completely different offense than what
- 44:39Speaker 5: they were anticipating, you know, Like I don't necessarily think
- 44:43Speaker 5: that that's how it went down, where like we're not
- 44:46Speaker 5: going to open up the playbook today because cj S
- 44:48Speaker 5: droves a turnover machine. Like I think they tried to
- 44:51Speaker 5: move the ball on Houston and they they had some success,
- 44:54Speaker 5: and they also had some bad plays, you know, And
- 44:56Speaker 5: I think that that's I don't know if maybe it's
- 44:59Speaker 5: like like what's close to the vest, Like I think
- 45:02Speaker 5: you can say that the weather impacted the Patriots offense
- 45:05Speaker 5: in all three games, and I think there'll be some
- 45:07Speaker 5: validity to that.
- 45:08Speaker 9: I would certainly agree with it, But I think people
- 45:11Speaker 9: are extrapolating from that that because of the weather, the
- 45:14Speaker 9: Patriots had to play a certain style and couldn't use
- 45:16Speaker 9: their whole offense. That's not the case, certainly not in
- 45:19Speaker 9: the first two games, and not in the first three
- 45:22Speaker 9: quarters of the Denver game. Like there was some possessions
- 45:25Speaker 9: that Evan just explains that they basically said, we're gonna
- 45:28Speaker 9: punt in this possession and we're okay with that. In Denver,
- 45:31Speaker 9: they did not play the whole game like that, and
- 45:33Speaker 9: they didn't play any of the first two games like that.
- 45:35Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 45:36Speaker 7: None.
- 45:37Speaker 6: You know, there's been trick plays.
- 45:39Speaker 9: There have been passes downfield, there have been passes in
- 45:42Speaker 9: the short intermediate zones. There's been plenty of running the ball.
- 45:46Speaker 9: You can't say they've abandoned the run. They've run their offense.
- 45:50Speaker 9: So I think they can be better in this game
- 45:52Speaker 9: because I think the weather will be better and I
- 45:53Speaker 9: think it'd be more conducive to offensive football. But not
- 45:57Speaker 9: because I expect Josh McDaniels to break out fifteen plays
- 45:59Speaker 9: that they've never run before that they've been holding back.
- 46:02Speaker 4: No, it's it's execution to me, and that's you know,
- 46:04Speaker 4: the plays that Evan talked about where he's hitting guys
- 46:06Speaker 4: in the feet that are usually air tight pit point completion.
- 46:10Speaker 7: They should execute.
- 46:11Speaker 4: Get back to those that kind of execution. I'm not
- 46:13Speaker 4: really you know. Oh, now we're running these plays and
- 46:16Speaker 4: like it's it's not that I.
- 46:17Speaker 6: Don't eliminate a wrinkle.
- 46:19Speaker 9: Like you guys were talking about that that that anecdote
- 46:22Speaker 9: from Brady about the red zone and stuff like that.
- 46:25Speaker 9: Josh is a great offensive coordinator. They'll probably have something
- 46:28Speaker 9: in these two weeks that that's a little bit different.
- 46:30Speaker 6: But I'm just talking about I don't.
- 46:32Speaker 9: Think they were holding things back in the previous playoff
- 46:35Speaker 9: games because of the wedding.
- 46:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I just wonder if maybe you know they have
- 46:40Speaker 5: they haven't really well, wait, we gotta guess Fred.
- 46:45Speaker 6: Yeah, we got another guess Fred.
- 46:46Speaker 7: Wake up?
- 46:47Speaker 3: Okay, all right, okay.
- 46:54Speaker 5: Maybe all right in a minute, get ready, folks. He's
- 47:00Speaker 5: got some hard I was gonna tee it up. He's
- 47:02Speaker 5: got some He's got some jewelry.
- 47:04Speaker 9: And so we have an answer to one of the
- 47:06Speaker 9: tribute questions. Fro him yesterday. Oh right, right, remember the
- 47:09Speaker 9: guy who stumped the grow up two and.
- 47:10Speaker 7: A half sacks. Looks like we're gonna have two rings.
- 47:14Speaker 8: I loved watching play.
- 47:16Speaker 5: I love that he And I'm not just saying this
- 47:18Speaker 5: because he's standing over there. I love that he would
- 47:20Speaker 5: play the zero, he'd screw right up over the center
- 47:23Speaker 5: and he would rush inside on third down, and I'm
- 47:25Speaker 5: gonna ask him about he was like the only guy
- 47:27Speaker 5: that had his hand in the dirt. They would have
- 47:28Speaker 5: everybody else like, you know, like jumping up and down.
- 47:31Speaker 5: They called it like the Amiba defense or something. Everybody
- 47:34Speaker 5: else was like running around up top, and then he
- 47:36Speaker 5: would just be this one guy.
- 47:39Speaker 3: What's up? All right? Trey Flowers here at radio row?
- 47:47Speaker 3: What's up.
- 47:50Speaker 6: Jewelry there?
- 47:51Speaker 7: Yeah? Friend, those two.
- 47:54Speaker 42: Just not those ones, No, I have those, don't really
- 48:00Speaker 42: bring them out too often, but it's a place to
- 48:02Speaker 42: do it.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Yeah. So how you been.
- 48:06Speaker 42: I've been good, been good. Yeah, I've been, you know,
- 48:09Speaker 42: enjoying retired life. I've been retired a couple of years now,
- 48:12Speaker 42: joint family, having you know, more children, spending more time
- 48:16Speaker 42: with family, and just uh now going into public speaking.
- 48:21Speaker 12: Yeah. So trying to do the motivation while you're here, Yeah,
- 48:25Speaker 12: I guess yeah you can say so.
- 48:27Speaker 42: Yeah, yeah, doing a few engagements, you know, motivating lead
- 48:30Speaker 42: people along with my voice.
- 48:31Speaker 12: Now, so I wasn't much of a talker when I
- 48:34Speaker 12: was playing.
- 48:34Speaker 3: So what's your what's your main message that.
- 48:37Speaker 42: Yeah, yeah, my main message is actually got a show
- 48:42Speaker 42: that I that I'm starting is it's called you Will
- 48:45Speaker 42: is His Will. So you know, the Lord's will for
- 48:47Speaker 42: your life is for you to get through any challenges
- 48:50Speaker 42: that you may have going on. So uh and and
- 48:53Speaker 42: that comes through persevering through hard times, through the struggles.
- 48:57Speaker 42: So you know it's a it's it's faith based, it's
- 49:01Speaker 42: you know, scripture based.
- 49:02Speaker 12: So just let the Lord leave me and uh, you know,
- 49:05Speaker 12: put all the glory on him.
- 49:06Speaker 3: So and what inspired you to do this?
- 49:09Speaker 42: So for me, you know, I've never, like I said,
- 49:13Speaker 42: I've never been a talker much. But after ironically enough,
- 49:19Speaker 42: after I got released from New England well twenty three,
- 49:23Speaker 42: after my injury and things, so and through that process,
- 49:29Speaker 42: God revealed some things through to me and through me,
- 49:32Speaker 42: and it was something that I just had to share.
- 49:34Speaker 42: It was on my spirit to share and just through
- 49:37Speaker 42: sharing his words, sharing the revelation and seeking him throughout
- 49:42Speaker 42: their journey because it was a hard time, right. You know,
- 49:45Speaker 42: it was a game that you love, he kind of
- 49:48Speaker 42: you know, hope to play as much as you can.
- 49:50Speaker 12: But you know, it in abruptly pretty early for me.
- 49:54Speaker 42: So you know, I had to seek him through the process,
- 49:58Speaker 42: and in seeking him it things were getting revealed to me. So,
- 50:02Speaker 42: you know, spreading that words, spreading their revelation, encouraging others
- 50:06Speaker 42: and just seeing the interaction and stuff. So I'm like,
- 50:09Speaker 42: you know, I think this is my calling. So yeah,
- 50:12Speaker 42: that's great for you there, Yeah, yeah.
- 50:14Speaker 7: All right.
- 50:15Speaker 2: So do you know that you're the answer to a
- 50:16Speaker 2: trivia question, and the question is what patriot who holds
- 50:20Speaker 2: the record for most sacks in the Super Bowl as
- 50:22Speaker 2: a Patriot?
- 50:23Speaker 3: And you're the You're the answer two and a half.
- 50:25Speaker 12: Oh yeah, okay.
- 50:27Speaker 8: One of those rings is from the Super Bowl.
- 50:30Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, definitely is yeah right here.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean one of those sacks was huge there
- 50:34Speaker 4: at the end. You guys were holding your ground. I
- 50:36Speaker 4: mean they were knocking on the door coming back and that.
- 50:39Speaker 7: Was I mean a huge moment for your defense.
- 50:41Speaker 12: Yeah, that was that was the time. You know, you know,
- 50:45Speaker 12: we go back. I go back to that often.
- 50:47Speaker 42: A lot of people ask me about this Super Bowl
- 50:49Speaker 42: and you know, I just say, Atlanta really just had
- 50:52Speaker 42: to make one play. We had to make every play,
- 50:55Speaker 42: and uh man, we made a lot of plays. It
- 50:57Speaker 42: was a great plays made. That was probably the that's
- 51:00Speaker 42: the pinnacle. That's that's I don't think no super Bowl,
- 51:04Speaker 42: no game has top that.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Was that your second year?
- 51:06Speaker 12: Trade?
- 51:06Speaker 4: I mean, what was it like? I mean, you're still
- 51:08Speaker 4: a real young player. Was it like playing the first
- 51:10Speaker 4: Super Bowl as a young guy? We got a lot
- 51:11Speaker 4: of young guys on the Patriots this year.
- 51:13Speaker 42: Oh yeah, yeah, So that was my second year. Started
- 51:16Speaker 42: off the year playing like third down nose guard, kind
- 51:20Speaker 42: of out of my role, but had to you know.
- 51:22Speaker 5: Just about that you keep going.
- 51:28Speaker 42: Yeah, so it's uh, man, So that year was, you
- 51:31Speaker 42: know for me, just kind of you know, like I said,
- 51:34Speaker 42: starting off, coming off my rookie year, not playing at all,
- 51:37Speaker 42: just really kind of like, man, I don't care where
- 51:40Speaker 42: y'all put me at as long as I'm on the field, uh,
- 51:43Speaker 42: and just continue to work hard, work through it, and
- 51:46Speaker 42: make a way, and then obviously getting the being able
- 51:49Speaker 42: to start, uh and then being productive you know in
- 51:52Speaker 42: the biggest game. That was, man, I would say, just
- 51:56Speaker 42: a testament to you know, for for the coaches, the
- 51:59Speaker 42: coaches depending on me, putting me in that position, and
- 52:02Speaker 42: then obviously just the preparation that went into that knowing
- 52:06Speaker 42: that you know, I didn't know that that play would
- 52:10Speaker 42: have had to be made, but thank God that I
- 52:14Speaker 42: was prepared for it.
- 52:14Speaker 2: So being in that game, like I remember watching it
- 52:17Speaker 2: and I couldn't believe what I'm seeing, Like I just couldn't.
- 52:20Speaker 12: You know.
- 52:21Speaker 3: You guys were dead to rights and then you rose
- 52:24Speaker 3: from the dead there. What was it like being.
- 52:26Speaker 2: A player in that game and all these like you said,
- 52:30Speaker 2: Atlanta only had to make one place, We had to
- 52:32Speaker 2: make a whole bunch of players. As you you started
- 52:35Speaker 2: rattling off all those plays, what was the feeling like?
- 52:38Speaker 42: So I would say to me from my viewpoint, obviously
- 52:42Speaker 42: going into the halftime, you know, everything was calm. It
- 52:45Speaker 42: was cool, you know that everybody just all right. We
- 52:47Speaker 42: guy just got to make some plays. Got to get
- 52:49Speaker 42: back into it, tourist.
- 52:53Speaker 7: Leave it.
- 52:53Speaker 42: Like the third quarter when we came when we came
- 52:56Speaker 42: down like sixteen, and a few defensive guys at each
- 53:00Speaker 42: other like, oh, we just got to make two stops too,
- 53:03Speaker 42: touchdown to two point now that sounds like yeah, so
- 53:09Speaker 42: uh you know at that point it's like, okay, we
- 53:12Speaker 42: really got a.
- 53:13Speaker 12: Shot right here, and so uh yeah.
- 53:16Speaker 42: That was that was before the Hot Tower got the
- 53:18Speaker 42: Sacks strip series and went down there and sure enough
- 53:22Speaker 42: touchdown two point version and we're.
- 53:24Speaker 12: Like, oh, yeah, this is it.
- 53:26Speaker 42: So after that, but even that drive, like that defensive
- 53:31Speaker 42: drive where my sack came from, Man it was I
- 53:36Speaker 42: would say that the emotional strength of being able.
- 53:41Speaker 12: Because they had a big play to get down there.
- 53:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:45Speaker 12: Yeah, so a big player to get down there.
- 53:48Speaker 42: And you know you see a lot of times some
- 53:52Speaker 42: in that situation teams going to the tank like oh man,
- 53:54Speaker 42: that's big play is over. But man, I just attested
- 53:59Speaker 42: to the defensive leaders on that team, Like I said,
- 54:01Speaker 42: I was young, but you had hot Tower mccordy. You know,
- 54:05Speaker 42: those guys are kind of like, man, no, we got
- 54:07Speaker 42: to make a stand right here, and sure enough, you know,
- 54:11Speaker 42: plays were made.
- 54:11Speaker 3: So then you get it done. Games over.
- 54:14Speaker 2: How long did it take for the sinking like we
- 54:17Speaker 2: just did Yeah, we just did this.
- 54:19Speaker 7: Man.
- 54:21Speaker 12: I could tell you.
- 54:24Speaker 42: I probably was stealing shot clean through the spring, you know,
- 54:29Speaker 42: probably not until getting back, you know, getting back into
- 54:32Speaker 42: April offseason camp. You know, just kind of stealing shock,
- 54:35Speaker 42: still riding away. I don't think I slept the first
- 54:40Speaker 42: first four days after it.
- 54:42Speaker 2: You know, it's just so now taking your football career
- 54:45Speaker 2: and that success that you had and coming back for adversity.
- 54:49Speaker 3: How much of that do you bring into what you're
- 54:51Speaker 3: doing now?
- 54:52Speaker 42: Oh yeah, yeah, it's man, it's big time. Like you said,
- 54:55Speaker 42: your journey, the journey that you live, you know, it
- 54:59Speaker 42: could push you towards your purpose, right and the pain
- 55:02Speaker 42: that you endure, you know it pushed you towards the purpose.
- 55:05Speaker 42: So I definitely believe that because I went through because
- 55:10Speaker 42: we went through that situation and then many situations after
- 55:13Speaker 42: being injured, you know, being released, like you know, my
- 55:17Speaker 42: life journey, that uh, that is what makes a lot
- 55:21Speaker 42: of the things that I say, you know, really resonate
- 55:23Speaker 42: with a lot of people.
- 55:24Speaker 2: So yeah, So do you have a website or something
- 55:27Speaker 2: where people can like, you know, find out more.
- 55:29Speaker 42: Yeah so, well my website is tradeflowers dot com.
- 55:33Speaker 12: And now I have a YouTube.
- 55:35Speaker 42: Now all of this stuff is kind of on the ground,
- 55:37Speaker 42: but it's is a building it up. A YouTube is
- 55:40Speaker 42: uh I believe d trade flowers at three Uh so yeah,
- 55:45Speaker 42: so okay flowers.
- 55:47Speaker 12: Dot trade flowers dot com.
- 55:48Speaker 3: All right, yeah, all right, well listen, it's great.
- 55:54Speaker 8: I gotta ask you this question.
- 55:55Speaker 5: So I remember you mentioned playing nose guard and stuff
- 55:59Speaker 5: like that. You know, you were sometimes the only guy
- 56:01Speaker 5: with his hand in the dirt and he got all
- 56:03Speaker 5: you guys jumping up and down around you. Why did
- 56:06Speaker 5: you like playing inside like that? And at your body type?
- 56:09Speaker 5: Like how did you hold up in there?
- 56:10Speaker 12: Yeah?
- 56:11Speaker 42: So for me, like I said, that was the only
- 56:13Speaker 42: way I got on the field early part of my
- 56:15Speaker 42: second year. So it really was just me creating almost
- 56:20Speaker 42: creating a position right this where they told me to play.
- 56:24Speaker 12: It's the only opportunity.
- 56:25Speaker 42: And early on, like I said, I had maybe ten
- 56:27Speaker 42: snaps a game only on third down. So and I'm like, man,
- 56:32Speaker 42: I gotta I gotta make a way. I can't say
- 56:35Speaker 42: I can't sit back, complain or I'm not in my
- 56:37Speaker 42: right position.
- 56:38Speaker 12: I'm not getting you know, enough reps.
- 56:40Speaker 42: I just gotta whatever I got, whatever the reps I
- 56:43Speaker 42: got on the field, I gotta make the best of it.
- 56:45Speaker 42: And so through just sharpening up that skill, I mean
- 56:50Speaker 42: you see it, I gotta go against double teams every snap,
- 56:54Speaker 42: so being able to prepare for that just actually just
- 56:59Speaker 42: obviously like the overtime work, working after practice, and you
- 57:03Speaker 42: know how my body held up.
- 57:05Speaker 12: Man, To be honest, I don't.
- 57:06Speaker 42: Know you know, because you know, I'm not the typical
- 57:10Speaker 42: third down you know, nose go, our hand in the
- 57:13Speaker 42: dirt type.
- 57:13Speaker 6: Of quickness that you had, like that gave the center.
- 57:18Speaker 42: Yeah, yeah, and I knew that I was able to
- 57:21Speaker 42: now manipulate that, like, okay, I probably don't have a
- 57:24Speaker 42: way advantage, but the quickness and then you know, the
- 57:28Speaker 42: deceiving in with you know obviously the long arms and
- 57:32Speaker 42: you know, thinking I'm going this way, pushing them that way.
- 57:34Speaker 43: So yeah, it's fun to watch. Yeah, it's cool. All right,
- 57:37Speaker 43: evn't got his football question. Yeah, all right, good luck
- 57:42Speaker 43: with what you're doing. Thank you, like it's really worth.
- 57:45Speaker 42: Yeah, yeah, all right, all right, all right, all right, okay, all.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Right, time for a break, Matt. We'll take this break will.

- 1:03:13Speaker 6: He's going to do a show.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: Treating us the way he treated Andy Hart. You know,
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: got screwed.
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: He did.
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: But I don't know if you needed to put that
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: on the air.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: I mean, he just blew right by us.
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: I don't think he was necessarily being rude.
- 1:03:30Speaker 8: He didn't hear us.

- 1:03:32Speaker 19: Now?
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: It's pretty loud in here.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: He was there's a fullback coming through the a gap
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: and he was head to meet him.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, he's filling that gap, filled the gap, okay anyway, Yeah,
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Ted Johnson just walked by.
- 1:03:44Speaker 9: He's almost Wiggy over there. Wiggie's got an I love
- 1:03:46Speaker 9: Drake may T shirt on cracking me up?

- 1:03:54Speaker 4: Of it's his odysty though it doesn't say no, it's

- 1:04:16Speaker 2: at pages dot com. Is the email address. Let's go
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: to Kevin in Dublin. What's up, Kevin?
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Get ahead?
- 1:04:24Speaker 39: Hey guys, Hey, hey, hey, yeah, it's my first call.
- 1:04:29Speaker 39: There's a long time uster An emailer. And you know,
- 1:04:31Speaker 39: I really enjoyed Fred's nunciation of subling my email to
- 1:04:35Speaker 39: get help.
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: Kevin Dublin, Dublin.
- 1:04:41Speaker 39: I can't believe we're back here. Heavens, the evil Empire
- 1:04:44Speaker 39: has returned. My friends are already sick to be fawning
- 1:04:46Speaker 39: over Drake May. And you know, the NFL is still
- 1:04:49Speaker 39: grown over here in Ireland, so not a lot.
- 1:04:51Speaker 38: Of people know who he is.
- 1:04:52Speaker 39: We had the first game this year, unfortunately the remnants
- 1:04:56Speaker 39: of Aaron Rodgers and the pedestrian Vikings team. But it
- 1:04:59Speaker 39: can only get better for you in terms of games
- 1:05:01Speaker 39: in Irelands. But I'm way more excited about this game.
- 1:05:03Speaker 13: And of course, and.
- 1:05:04Speaker 39: Apologies you already covered this, but I'm intrigued by the
- 1:05:07Speaker 39: first quarter game fun. I know the Patriots history in
- 1:05:10Speaker 39: terms of first quarter points, and maybe it is more
- 1:05:12Speaker 39: of a randomness, but hom which is that creature of
- 1:05:15Speaker 39: trying to figure out the opponent and keeping the powder
- 1:05:17Speaker 39: dry versus conservatives, play calling or other factors. And I'm
- 1:05:22Speaker 39: wondering whether that's more of a kind of an AFC
- 1:05:24Speaker 39: versus NFC thing, so having you know, getting a clear
- 1:05:27Speaker 39: idea of opposing defenses as the game goes on. So yeah,
- 1:05:31Speaker 39: be interested to see your your thoughts and that, and
- 1:05:33Speaker 39: I'll pick it off one.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Okay, all right, thanks, Thanks Kevin.
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: I think it's a great question. I know that you
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: can't be behind.
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: The sample size is so big that I feel like
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: it's so random. Like one game it was probably the
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: little of the defense. The next game it was Jitters,
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: the next game it was the you know. And I
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: don't know if there's like a common thread of why
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: they always struggled to score in the first quarter. I mean,
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: you had Tom Brady and you couldn't score in the
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: first quarter. So I don't know, but I do think
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: there is some element maybe of you know, these two
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: teams are not very familiar.
- 1:06:03Speaker 6: With one another, like they they haven't played.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: The Seahawks you know since uh last year, but that
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: was with Gino Smith and it was a different team
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: different obviously, the Patriots coaching staff was entirely different. Drake
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: May wasn't even playing in the game, so like, you know,
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: there's gonna be a feeling out process, I'm sure for
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: both coaching staffs of you know what exactly everybody wants
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: to do.
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: The one thing I'm holding out.
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: A little bit of hope with in that respect is,
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: you know, they did just play Jesse Minter not too
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: long ago and with the Chargers, and it's the same
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: defensive system that McDonald's running with Seattle, So maybe there's
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: a little bit of systemic familiarity, you know, but player wise,
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: like you know, you haven't faced a lot of these guys.
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: I just my point was just I don't you can't
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: fall behind the Seahawks team by like ten points, like
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: they are just built to protect the lead. And one
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: other thing I have to, like, you know, not going
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: back to like are the Seahawks overrated? But I just
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: think so many of their key games this year were
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: against division opponents.
- 1:06:59Speaker 7: Both playoff games were against division opponents.
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: Those are and we know those games are always a
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: little weird, and these are you know each other so well,
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: and I just I wonder about and it's for the
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: Patriots too, they don't know the Seahawks, and what does
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: that how does that manifest itself with two teams that
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: aren't familiar with each other. We know the Seahawks when
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: they know the other team that they can blast them.
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: But does that maybe, you know, the unpredictability of what
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: the Patriots are gonna do, does that give any kind
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: of ques Yeah?
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: And you know, look, it's it's easy to have a
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: plan until you get punched in the mouth, right. But
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: I think the one thing that you look at is
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: always when in games like this, is you do go
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: into those division opponents because the division opponents know the
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: team the best. So like what did the Rams do
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: against Seattle where they did find a little bit of
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: success in both games on I mean the overtime game
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: and the game in the NFC Championship game, they had success,
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: So you know what what was buttons was their levers?
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: Was Sean McVay pulling in those games because they know
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: the Seahawks much much better.
- 1:07:56Speaker 9: And I will go back to the first game that
- 1:07:59Speaker 9: the Rams and Seahawks played, and then because the Seahawks
- 1:08:02Speaker 9: shut them down in the first game, they lost the game,
- 1:08:04Speaker 9: but it was because Darnold made some mistakes and I
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: would look to see with the differences that McVeigh did
- 1:08:10Speaker 9: from that game to the next one, because I believe
- 1:08:12Speaker 9: that they had I think they were like plus four
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: and turnovers or plus three and turnovers and still only
- 1:08:17Speaker 9: scored twenty points. Yeah, and then the next game they
- 1:08:20Speaker 9: scored thirty seven and lost overtime. So what changed for
- 1:08:24Speaker 9: Sean McVay from one game to the next. The whole
- 1:08:26Speaker 9: first quarter thing in the Super Bowls, to me, is
- 1:08:30Speaker 9: one of those rabel things.
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: It's really interesting.
- 1:08:33Speaker 7: I do.
- 1:08:34Speaker 9: I find it really interesting. I'm not sure how important
- 1:08:36Speaker 9: it is. I think it's just kind of circumstantial. And
- 1:08:39Speaker 9: Evan's right, like there's so many different things that happened,
- 1:08:42Speaker 9: you know, Like Seattle game. The last time they played Seattle,
- 1:08:45Speaker 9: they had a great drive and Tom threw a pick
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: at the goal line, you know, so that keeps points
- 1:08:51Speaker 9: on the board. The Giants game, the Giants opened the
- 1:08:55Speaker 9: game with an eleven minute drive. Ye, the pig had
- 1:08:57Speaker 9: scored a touchdown in their first drive. It just didn't
- 1:08:59Speaker 9: happen until the second quarter. Yeah, because the first drive
- 1:09:03Speaker 9: for the Giants took you so much time. I think
- 1:09:04Speaker 9: it was like ten fifty three or something like that,
- 1:09:07Speaker 9: that field goal drive. So they've moved the ball early
- 1:09:11Speaker 9: in some of these games, and then in other it's
- 1:09:14Speaker 9: like sometimes you're just playing a good defense, yeah, and
- 1:09:16Speaker 9: it takes a while to sort of figure out how
- 1:09:19Speaker 9: to attack this defense.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: It is interesting hearing you say that, though, Paul, because
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: it makes me realize that a lot of times, this
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: is how the game declares itself with these you know,
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: like that's a great example of that Giants drive. It
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: was like, it's gonna be a grind today and maybe
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: that changes course and like again go back to thirty
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: eight to change your defensive struggle and then it's a shootout.
- 1:09:38Speaker 7: But I do think that those.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: That first quarter is very important and kind of declares
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: what kind of game.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we talked about our at least super
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Bowls have their own feeling to it. They have their
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: own you know, it doesn't it feels different than your
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: regular game. And you might have those that long drive
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: to start the game and it just it just ruise
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: everything else up after that. You know.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: That's what's so funny though, is I mean, you guys
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: have watched so many Super Bowls. I mean, look, I've
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: watched them as a fan, but you guys have written
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: and had to analyze them and you know, do the
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: work around the game. So nobody here in this whole
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: building has watched as many Super Bowls and covered them
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: from you know.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: Them.
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: But he's just watching that. I mean, I'm saying watching
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: from a Patriots perspective to twenty eleven.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Right, they're playing the Giants in that Super Bowl and
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: you know, Brady right right off the get go throws
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: that ball down the middle to no One and they
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: flag them for intentional grounding, and like from that point on,
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: you just never had this feeling them any flow for
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: the Patriots. Yet here we are at the end of
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: the game and it takes an Eli Manning passed down
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: a chimney to Manningham whatever his name is. Man you know,
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: you know, to really give the game to the to
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: the Giants. But like it was just a weird game
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: up to that.
- 1:10:59Speaker 44: Weird.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: I think a lot of them are like that, right,
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: They're weird games. It's not you don't normally get like
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: what you expect obviously, and I think this is a
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: big declare game because the Patriots sometimes are a little
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: bit slower to start, especially on defense, you know this year.
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: But I would say on both sides of the balls.
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: It's usually like the middle quarters where they start to
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: really you know, run away with these games where they've
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: they have had you know, easy fourth quarters. And I
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: this Seattle team. To douce his point. You know, it's
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: a tough team to come back from ten nothing on.
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: You know, that's not a way you want to live
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: in a game like this.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: Yep, let's go to Rudy in Santa Cruz. What's up, Rudy. Hello, Rudy, Rudy.
- 1:11:45Speaker 7: Rudy, Rudey.
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: No, No, we were all thinking it. I mean it
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: was right there.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Yeah, that's okay.
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: I thought he's gonna run out of the tunnel with
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: his golden helmet.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: We don't want to talk to him.
- 1:11:55Speaker 5: That didn't actually happen there, that's just part of the movie.
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: Oh there was a a kindly old janitor that helped
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: him out along the way.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: I don't know what this means, Nick says.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: I just want to say I have the same reaction
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: as Paul did anytime Zola comes.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: On the screen. I don't know what that means.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: My question is game on the fourth on the line,
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: fourth quarter, last minute drive. This is the only time
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: in Patriot history that I would not feel comfortable with
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: the game winning field goal. The rookie is good, and
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: I hope he works out for the long term. He's
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: not a rookie, but he's obviously, oh the kicker, but
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: he's obviously not Adam or Steven. Scale of one to ten,
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: how confident would you be in that situation? I'm at
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: a four. I know range matters, so let's just say
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: forty plus.
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: I'm surprised and said that you're that, Like, what has
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: he done that to prove that he wouldn't be up
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: for it?
- 1:12:43Speaker 8: And like Keskowski wasn't very good in.
- 1:12:44Speaker 9: Super Bowls, I was just gonna ask what did Gzowski
- 1:12:47Speaker 9: then put him on Adam's level?
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: I mean, like miss multiple kicks in Super Bowls, like famelessly.
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Didn't even miss let it kick some of them? Yeah,
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: I mean remember it, remember the bill on the fourth
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: forty two?
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: They didn't, they didn't attempt it. I mean, but what
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: did did he miss? What did he miss?
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: I didn't say that, no, he guess Guski missed multiple
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: kicks in the Super Bowl, like over the course of
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: his career.
- 1:13:10Speaker 9: I'm not remembering those which once I'm being serious, I'm
- 1:13:14Speaker 9: having a brain.
- 1:13:15Speaker 8: Fart, I would have to.
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: I don't remember the individual plays off the top of
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: my head, but I I would all he certainly didn't
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: have the.
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: Track record that Adam out with the game on the line.
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: I just remember in fifty three too, that like they
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: were thinking of going for that fort down and I
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: remember Brady being like.
- 1:13:32Speaker 8: Bill just kicked the field goal over?
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: Yeah, what are you doing? And I think that, as usual,
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: Belichick was you know, led by Brady. I think there
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: was maybe a little bit of hesitation there. Honestly, I
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: I do no, there was absolutely and it wasn't like
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: a SA Brady. Brady had to be the adult of
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: the roopman said no, yeah, I kicked the field.
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: Goal and the game's over.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: Yeah it was short forties.
- 1:13:53Speaker 8: Right, yeah, I want to say forty something.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Yeah, so Mark and fall River.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: I want to preface this by saying, I don't want
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: to take any credit away from Zach Korr. The question
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: is specifically for you guys in the credit you've given him.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: How come when Bill Belichick was the coach, it was
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: Bill's defense and this year all the credit is going
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: to Korr instead of Rabel. Is it not Vrabel's defense?
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: I would think with the issues of Kora having to
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: step into the role unexpectedly, Vrabel would be even more involved. Well,
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: I mean, i think we've given both their flowers, right,
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: But I think Core during the game is making the calls.
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: Yeah, he's calling the plays, but I just think that
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: the praise for Corr is more like he was not
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: supposed to be in this position, right. Yeah, it's week
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: two of the season. Terrell Williams obviously has his situation happened.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: And Zach Korr, who's never called plays in an NFL
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: game before and had no lead up, no preseason preparation,
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: no training camp preparation, nothing, gets thrown into the fire
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: into the position, and I think he's actually starting to
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: really thrive in the role and excel with it. I mean,
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: he got the better as Sean Payton a couple of times,
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: and Sean Payton's one of the most respected play callers
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: in the game.
- 1:15:01Speaker 9: And Sean Payton came out and said it on the
- 1:15:04Speaker 9: key fourth boutans he said, they fooled me. Yeah yeah,
- 1:15:08Speaker 9: And guys like that don't generally admit that that stuff readily.
- 1:15:11Speaker 6: It's absolutely Rabel's system, and.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: I'm sure that Rabel has a huge hand in the
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: game planning a week to week on defense, and it's
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: his defense in terms of the system and the language
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: and all that stuff.
- 1:15:23Speaker 7: But the guy calling the plays is is core.
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: And you know a lot of the players have talked
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: also about you know him presenting, you know, in front
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: of the team and presenting game plans, and he said
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: some things to us, you know, and assistant coach availability
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: where he's he thinks of things that like you can
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: tell just how smart he is and like how stude
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: he is, Like talking about Justin Herbert's hand size and
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: how Justin Herbert has big hands and so that allows
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: him to hold the ball with one hand so that
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: he can use the other hand to run and create
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: and like get you know, up to a faster speed
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: because he doesn't have to put two hands on the football.
- 1:16:00Speaker 8: Talking to me the other day about.
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: Kenneth Walker and like his like history going all the
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: way back to him playing football at Wake Forest, which
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: is before he transferred to Michigan State. You know, like
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: that's how far back he like goes in terms of
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: thinking about these players. So it's pretty impressive, like hearing
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: him talking like he'll just pull out these little things
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: where it's like, well, he started at Wake Forest and
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: that coach there did it this way, and it taught
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: him how to do it that way, and it's he's
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: a really smart guy.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: I like the fact that our head coach as a
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: player has been in a lot of Super Bowls and
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: had success and made big plays in Super Bowls, whether
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: it's strip sacks or scoring touchdowns.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: And hopefully he can kind of translate to players and.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: Kind of motivate them because he's done it himself and
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: knows what it's like to be in these big games
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: and perform at the highest level. And you know, we're
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: talking about the defense. I hope that he can like tell,
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: you know, guys like Blaine and people who have never
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: been in Super Bowls like this is what this is
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: how you need to be thinking, This is what you
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: need to be looking for, you know. But so I
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: think I think we have a slight advantage there with
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: having a coach like that in this game.
- 1:17:14Speaker 7: Yeah, really set himself up.
- 1:17:16Speaker 17: Well.
- 1:17:16Speaker 7: I mean he's you know, I don't know Ioskowski.
- 1:17:19Speaker 9: He missed one against the Rams, and he missed one
- 1:17:22Speaker 9: against Philly, and he missed an extra point against Philly
- 1:17:24Speaker 9: in that game too.
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: Yeah, I knew he had missed a couple I have
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: not like you. I don't have the steel trapped to remember,
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: but I wanted.
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: To because I was bugging me like I couldn't remember.
- 1:17:34Speaker 9: The big thing for me for Gostowski wasn't really his fault.
- 1:17:37Speaker 9: It was Bill going for fourth and thirteen in field
- 1:17:41Speaker 9: goal range in Super Bowl whatever forty two.
- 1:17:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Uh, Jay Glazer just walked by, Oh scoopage. Yeah he's
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: he's all jacked up.
- 1:17:54Speaker 7: He's got a tight black T shirt on it.
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: Yeah, of course he does.
- 1:17:56Speaker 7: How he does.
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: He had a transformation right because he wasn't always like that.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: When he first.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: I heard a sorry about him straight Hand, I guess
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: he was straight Hand's guy. That's how he broke in.
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: Straight Hand loved him and said this is the guy
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: to talk to. And straight Hand really helped launch his career.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Okay, let's see Seana Petaluma in Sonoma County, about an
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: hour north of here.
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: I guess sneaky good.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: Point by Deuce just now that I haven't heard anyone
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: say yet. The Seahawks have only played division opponents in
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: these playoffs. Division games and a team's familiarity changes the
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: dynamic quite a bit. Playing the Patriots will be a
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: whole different animal than what Seattle has faced so far,
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: plus therapy.
- 1:18:39Speaker 10: I know.
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: I just have a question about that, and it is
- 1:18:41Speaker 6: an interesting point. Is it a good one or a
- 1:18:44Speaker 6: bad one for the Patriots?
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: I think it would be shouldn't make it easier for
- 1:18:46Speaker 9: Seattle to play someone different that doesn't know them inside
- 1:18:49Speaker 9: and out?
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: So my I was thinking that you were saying they
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: played the Rams and the forty nine ers, or two
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: of the best teams in the league.
- 1:18:56Speaker 9: Well, yeah, right, that's first and foremost. But I'm talking
- 1:18:59Speaker 9: about the whole division thing. I agree with Duce's point
- 1:19:01Speaker 9: about division games. They're often kind of atypical because of
- 1:19:05Speaker 9: the knowledge that the that the teams have of each other. Yeah,
- 1:19:09Speaker 9: and it's sometimes you end up with a tough game,
- 1:19:12Speaker 9: you know, It's like Baltimore and against Cleveland it ends
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: up being thirteen to ten, Yeah, even though Cleveland stinks
- 1:19:18Speaker 9: and bolt uses Town, just because it's a division game
- 1:19:21Speaker 9: and funny things happen sometimes. Yeah, Yeah, because they know
- 1:19:23Speaker 9: each other so well, I would think it's probably a
- 1:19:26Speaker 9: welcome site for Seattle to see somebody different after seeing
- 1:19:30Speaker 9: two division opponents to Evan's point two division opponents, there
- 1:19:33Speaker 9: was probably top five.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: In the league.
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I was thinking it more than that respect of like,
- 1:19:38Speaker 5: I mean, the Rams might be one of the best
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: two or three teams in football that just doesn't didn't
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: get over Seattle and and had to play.
- 1:19:47Speaker 7: On the road.
- 1:19:47Speaker 37: You know's face it, they thought offside call that changed
- 1:19:52Speaker 37: the whole game on that Thursday night game with that
- 1:19:54Speaker 37: for cocta two point conversion that they gave Seattle, Otherwise
- 1:19:57Speaker 37: that game probably would have been in LA.
- 1:19:59Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:19:59Speaker 9: Now, Seattle probably still would have had a home field
- 1:20:02Speaker 9: advantage in LA because there would have been more Seahawks
- 1:20:04Speaker 9: fans than Rams, right, but maybe they loose.
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: Yeah, the overtime game in the regular season was a
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: little bit different than this, But the NFC Championship game.
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: The level of difficulty of some of the plays the
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: Rams made in that game, Stafford throws and Puka just
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: you know, Moss and guys and things like it was
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: incredible to watch, you know how uh, just terrific that
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: offense played in that game. Now, the regular season one
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: that went to overtime, there was a lot of open
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: receivers in that game. The Seahawks had trouble covering in
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: that game. But uh, you know, I was hoping to
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: watch the NFC Championship game and be like, oh, like
- 1:20:36Speaker 5: Patriots could recreate that, and it's like Puka just making
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: like one handed catches on the sideline.
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: It's like, right, cool, all right.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: Anthony and Virginia. Why is everyone acting like the Seahawks
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: offense is the Rams. Darnold had twenty turnovers, which was
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: highest in the NFL.
- 1:20:52Speaker 6: We are the best Seahawks offenses like the Rams. I
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: think they're kind of like the Rams in twenty eighteen.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: We are the best. We are the best defense. He's
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: facing the playoffs. People seem to have a three game memory.
- 1:21:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:21:04Speaker 9: I don't think anybody thinks a whole lot of the
- 1:21:06Speaker 9: Seattle offense. To be honest with you, I haven't heard
- 1:21:09Speaker 9: one person gush about said Seattle's defense is getting all
- 1:21:12Speaker 9: the attention, not the offense.
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: I mean, Jaysen deserves all the praise that he gets.
- 1:21:16Speaker 6: Ian Kenneth Walker both really good players.
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: I think the one question that you wonder from from
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: the Patriots point of view, like Darnald was unbelievable under
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: pressure in the NFC Championship game.
- 1:21:26Speaker 8: Which is a typical can he do that again?
- 1:21:29Speaker 17: Right?
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: So, if he's under pressure like that again, is he
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: going to make all he threw I think three touchdown
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: passes under pressure in the NFC title.
- 1:21:36Speaker 8: Game, Like, is he going to be able to recreate
- 1:21:39Speaker 8: that again?
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: Because the stats would tell you over the course of
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: the season he's one of the lowest graded quarterbacks while
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: under pressure, but in the playoffs he's been really really
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: good under pressure, just you know, anecdotally in two games.
- 1:21:50Speaker 9: Yeah, I would give the edge to the Patriots defense
- 1:21:53Speaker 9: in that matchup. If you just like generically not breaking
- 1:21:56Speaker 9: down individual matchups, but just say Patriots defense against the
- 1:21:59Speaker 9: Seahawk offense. I think nine people would say I'll give
- 1:22:02Speaker 9: the edge to the Patriots defense.
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: The matchup I keep coming back to is that interior
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: three against Barmore and Williams. I think that's probably the
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: biggest mismatch in the Patriots favor in the entire game.
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: Is you know that the Seattle interior offensive line against
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: dirt and Barmore and Williams.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: I started off the show by giving our betting fans
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: out there a little tip. You did, You're gonna get
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: good odds on. Milton Williams as MVP. Take the take
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: that bet. You don't have to bet the house. Just
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: take the odds, make the bet, and then thank me later.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: Give me a little taste, all right, little taste, little taste.
- 1:22:38Speaker 7: All right.
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: We're gonna take another break, another break, and then we'll

- 1:29:40Speaker 2: you're not just a Patriot legend or an NFL at Europe.
- 1:29:44Speaker 17: I'm just old as dirt.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: No, you're a You're a pro football legend.
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: And in New England you're just a football legend because
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: of what you did at BC.
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: So like you did it everywhere and the dropkick or
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: like international.
- 1:29:57Speaker 17: I I'll tell you once what we did at I
- 1:30:00Speaker 17: thought it was going to be the pinnacle of my career.
- 1:30:02Speaker 14: You know it was gonna be I'm a five to ten,
- 1:30:04Speaker 14: one hundred and seventy five pound kid, and to play
- 1:30:08Speaker 14: as long as I didn't do something. CFL put the
- 1:30:10Speaker 14: fun back in the game. I got back to the
- 1:30:13Speaker 14: NFL and played.
- 1:30:14Speaker 17: In the Pro Bowl. It just I wouldn't change the thing.
- 1:30:18Speaker 17: It was just so much fun.
- 1:30:19Speaker 14: Ended it with the dropkick, got these bookend moments, so
- 1:30:22Speaker 14: it was a blend.
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: He got screwed at the end there with the Bills.
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: They you should have played in that game.
- 1:30:28Speaker 17: Thanks for noticing he got screwed. Yeah here, Yeah, I know,
- 1:30:33Speaker 17: it was one of those things.
- 1:30:35Speaker 14: I go back to Buffalo and the people, I'll tell you,
- 1:30:37Speaker 14: the people in Buffalo are amazing. I spent I had
- 1:30:41Speaker 14: my best NFL years in Buffalo, but it only spent
- 1:30:44Speaker 14: three years there. Yeah, And I go back up there
- 1:30:46Speaker 14: and they treating like I'm Jim Kelly for crying out loud.
- 1:30:49Speaker 17: They're they're amazing, and.
- 1:30:50Speaker 7: You were good to them.
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: They'll be good to you up there.
- 1:30:52Speaker 17: They really are.
- 1:30:52Speaker 14: And they don't care if you were a starting quarterback
- 1:30:55Speaker 14: or role player or a special teams guy.
- 1:30:58Speaker 17: If you played hard, they love you for life.
- 1:31:00Speaker 7: They still love the Flutie flakes too, right.
- 1:31:02Speaker 17: Yeah, they just don't eat him anymore.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: I don't know if you know this story, but when
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: you were with the Patriots, there was a game you
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: were playing at Chollette and we're in there and Bill
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: Pollian was in the press box and you were running
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: around and Poleon slams the table and says, break his legs,
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: like I've never seen like somebody on another team like
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: do that in a press box.
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: You know, it was a guy I really should goad.
- 1:31:30Speaker 17: But the Patriots came to Buffalo.
- 1:31:33Speaker 14: Rob Johnson was starting, and I was the backup at
- 1:31:36Speaker 14: the moment, and Rob went out in the first quarter.
- 1:31:39Speaker 17: It's a snowy, cold day, and he went out. I
- 1:31:42Speaker 17: went in. I played extremely well. I think the game
- 1:31:45Speaker 17: might have even gone over overtime. I don't know.
- 1:31:47Speaker 14: But after the game, I'm walking up the ramp and
- 1:31:49Speaker 14: Belichick sees me and Bill comes over.
- 1:31:51Speaker 17: I'm playing for Buffalo. Now comes over. He says, I
- 1:31:54Speaker 17: told him not to touch that guy. We leave him
- 1:31:56Speaker 17: in the game. We didn't want you in the game.
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 1:32:02Speaker 9: So I have a game that you played against the
- 1:32:04Speaker 9: Patriots earlier in your career with San Diego, and it
- 1:32:07Speaker 9: was I think Tom Brady's first big comeback.
- 1:32:10Speaker 17: Yes, right, yes, Tom's first start. I believe, Yeah, it was.
- 1:32:14Speaker 17: I think it was.
- 1:32:15Speaker 9: Maybe it was a couple of weeks in, but they
- 1:32:17Speaker 9: just they had just gotten killed in Miami, and it
- 1:32:20Speaker 9: was like he played a game they won, then they
- 1:32:22Speaker 9: got killed in Miami.
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: Was like, oh okay, reality check. Then you guys got
- 1:32:26Speaker 6: him up ten late in the fourth quarter.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: We're up.
- 1:32:29Speaker 14: We've got the ball up three or seven, seven, I believe,
- 1:32:35Speaker 14: and we're got a chance to run a clock out.
- 1:32:37Speaker 14: We get nine yards on first down at second and
- 1:32:39Speaker 14: one under two minutes. I come to the sideline, go.
- 1:32:42Speaker 17: Let's go play action. I'll hit the full back in
- 1:32:44Speaker 17: the flat. Game is over.
- 1:32:45Speaker 14: No, no, no, we got to run the ball. We
- 1:32:47Speaker 14: gotta keep the clock. I go, they're gonna stack it.
- 1:32:49Speaker 14: I just do the little play action fullback in it's safe.
- 1:32:52Speaker 14: I ran it up the middle twice. Stuff stuff.
- 1:32:55Speaker 17: Had to punt it back to Tommy.
- 1:32:57Speaker 14: They hit two miraculous plays and end up stick and
- 1:33:00Speaker 14: in the end zone and beat us in overtime.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: You gotta listen to your quarterback.
- 1:33:04Speaker 17: I was pissed when we didn't get that first down.
- 1:33:07Speaker 14: No, lie, we didn't get and I just saw Woody,
- 1:33:08Speaker 14: our equipment guy up in Buffalo not long ago.
- 1:33:12Speaker 17: I come over to the bench. I knew the game
- 1:33:14Speaker 17: was over. I knew it.
- 1:33:15Speaker 14: I turned and I threw my helmet at the gatorade.
- 1:33:18Speaker 14: Woody walks right across.
- 1:33:20Speaker 17: As I threw the helmet and I hit him in
- 1:33:21Speaker 17: the stomach with and.
- 1:33:23Speaker 14: Yeah, I never felt so bad in my life. But yeah,
- 1:33:26Speaker 14: you knew that was coming. You could see it all
- 1:33:29Speaker 14: lining up.
- 1:33:30Speaker 8: Doug.
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: I got another game for it, not quite a game,
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: but I used to play public hockey in Natick, Oh
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: my gosh, okay, and I remember a couple of times
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: this guy comes out in some marrow flex Reggie Lemelin pads,
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: who were like, is that Doug Flutie And he's picking
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: out the best kids, which I have to say, I
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: was one of them. You wanted us to come down
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: on you and take shots and everything, and it was
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: one of the coolest things.
- 1:33:50Speaker 7: I tell people all the time. I used to play
- 1:33:51Speaker 7: public hockey with Doug Flutie and.
- 1:33:53Speaker 17: Native still up until this year.
- 1:33:55Speaker 14: I kind of have a little hit flexers strain, so
- 1:33:57Speaker 14: I stopped for the last six months. But I've been
- 1:33:59Speaker 14: playing in men's legs down in Florida.
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 1:34:02Speaker 14: I gave away all my all my hockey equipment right
- 1:34:05Speaker 14: when I moved to Florida. There's a rink a half
- 1:34:07Speaker 14: hour away. Guys reeled me back in and that's great.
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: It's the best.
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: What was I gonna say? Oh?
- 1:34:14Speaker 6: No, one really knows.
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: So no, no, is there a particular reason why you're here.
- 1:34:18Speaker 14: Yes, Light Helmets. This is a company that is owned
- 1:34:21Speaker 14: by players, run by players. Extremely light helmet obviously for agility, fatigue.
- 1:34:26Speaker 17: And all that.
- 1:34:27Speaker 14: It's it's an advantage to be light, but it's also
- 1:34:32Speaker 14: different liners for different positions as well, you know with
- 1:34:35Speaker 14: their online D line, quarterback whatnot and all the all
- 1:34:38Speaker 14: the guys that have worn them this year in the
- 1:34:40Speaker 14: NC Double A, in the NFL, no record of a concussion.
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: May I yeah, yeah, and.
- 1:34:49Speaker 14: Okay, it's basically you know, space age technology and military
- 1:34:54Speaker 14: technology into that.
- 1:34:55Speaker 17: Yeah, it's light, extremely light helmet.
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: Then.
- 1:34:57Speaker 14: The company's been going since twenty eighteen. The mission basically
- 1:35:02Speaker 14: is to preserve the sports we love and the players
- 1:35:05Speaker 14: that play.
- 1:35:05Speaker 33: It.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: So interesting that they have different for different positions.
- 1:35:11Speaker 14: I don't understand why, you you know, yeah, I know
- 1:35:13Speaker 14: from a quarterback standpoint, you weren't extra padding in the
- 1:35:15Speaker 14: back because you're getting that whiplast thing face faden back.
- 1:35:19Speaker 14: You know, maybe a full back more up in the front.
- 1:35:21Speaker 14: I don't know, but the bottom line is it's it's
- 1:35:24Speaker 14: to the position.
- 1:35:25Speaker 17: It's the lightweight. And I, you know, picked this thing
- 1:35:28Speaker 17: up today.
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: And I'm thinking of the high schools.
- 1:35:30Speaker 14: Yes, yes, also high school because I run a high
- 1:35:32Speaker 14: school coaches school, and it's a high school brand. It's
- 1:35:35Speaker 14: Apatchee Lightning for the youth and Apatchee Pro.
- 1:35:40Speaker 17: There's well, I mean double check one.
- 1:35:43Speaker 7: Yeah, just a.
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: And it's called light Helmets, Light.
- 1:35:47Speaker 14: Helmets l I G H T and uh, it's exciting.
- 1:35:51Speaker 14: It's the new it's voted the best of the new
- 1:35:53Speaker 14: helmets coming out.
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: Okay, and I hope the Pro football.
- 1:35:58Speaker 17: All I know is that the bike that I wore
- 1:36:01Speaker 17: was about four times as heavy.
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: As I was gonna say. It was voted best time.
- 1:36:07Speaker 14: Voters didn't vote, because then then we have to get
- 1:36:10Speaker 14: rid of the results, right, absolutely.
- 1:36:12Speaker 9: Trust, So let's get the real question and go go
- 1:36:15Speaker 9: back to your dropkick. Right that game drop kick is
- 1:36:17Speaker 9: also remembered for another you know, two point conversion in
- 1:36:20Speaker 9: that game. You know, what are your recollections on the sideline.
- 1:36:24Speaker 9: So what Bill may or may not have told Matt Castle?
- 1:36:26Speaker 9: Very good, very good.
- 1:36:31Speaker 17: Not a word has ever been spoken, nobody has said.
- 1:36:35Speaker 14: But I looked over and I'm like, that was an
- 1:36:39Speaker 14: easy throw and it And the difference is you want
- 1:36:43Speaker 14: to play Pittsburgh, you want to play Jacksonville. Correct the
- 1:36:47Speaker 14: only thing and you're gonna have to go to Castle
- 1:36:49Speaker 14: because Castle would be the only guy who insists.
- 1:36:51Speaker 7: That he just messed up the throw.
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: You won't.
- 1:36:57Speaker 7: All I know is I just gagged an easy throw.
- 1:37:00Speaker 17: We missed the same throw on Friday.
- 1:37:05Speaker 8: That's a that's an insider knowledge.
- 1:37:07Speaker 7: That's all I know.
- 1:37:09Speaker 14: And I didn't think anything of it, you know, on Friday,
- 1:37:13Speaker 14: and after the game it kind of I didn't think
- 1:37:17Speaker 14: of it in the moment, and then as I was walking,
- 1:37:20Speaker 14: you know, after the game, I'm thinking, yeah, same thing
- 1:37:24Speaker 14: happened on Friday.
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: I tell you that's why Bill should be in the
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: holiday Every.
- 1:37:30Speaker 17: Scenario, Hey, you gotta take it in.
- 1:37:32Speaker 14: And it's so hard to do as as a play,
- 1:37:35Speaker 14: not not that situation like that, but even in a
- 1:37:38Speaker 14: preseason game, to not play to sit when I was
- 1:37:42Speaker 14: up up in Calgary. Edmonton was our rival. I was
- 1:37:46Speaker 14: supposed to play the first quarter of the preseason game
- 1:37:48Speaker 14: against Edmonton.
- 1:37:49Speaker 17: We were trailing.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: I stayed in.
- 1:37:51Speaker 14: It was a tight game at half. I stayed I
- 1:37:53Speaker 14: played the whole game and we wanted an overtime just
- 1:37:56Speaker 14: and it was a meaningless preseason game. So it's just
- 1:37:59Speaker 14: hard as a competitor to do anything like that. The
- 1:38:03Speaker 14: coaches have to if they want to do stuff, They
- 1:38:05Speaker 14: got to poll players and sit their butts down and
- 1:38:08Speaker 14: let the number twos and threes play and and they're
- 1:38:11Speaker 14: still going to go play their heart.
- 1:38:12Speaker 19: Out, all right?
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: Can I ask you about BC and coach O'Brien is
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: obviously pretty close with coach Rabel as well, and just
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: you know, it wasn't the best season last year, But
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: what did you see from coach O'Brien right now?
- 1:38:25Speaker 17: Yeah, the first I thought it looked really encouraging.
- 1:38:28Speaker 14: I was all excited and like, we're going to be competitive,
- 1:38:32Speaker 14: and then we lose our quarterback. You know, Tommy Caslanos
- 1:38:38Speaker 14: gets he was a little banged up, but he was
- 1:38:39Speaker 14: turning the ball over, so he benches him the next day.
- 1:38:42Speaker 14: The kids in a portal. He makes more money yeah,
- 1:38:44Speaker 14: you know, I hate college football for that.
- 1:38:46Speaker 7: I hate it.
- 1:38:49Speaker 14: So anyway, they they looked encouraging, got better as the
- 1:38:52Speaker 14: year went, but you know what was it? Two wins
- 1:38:55Speaker 14: this season very frustrating and I you know, you look
- 1:39:00Speaker 14: at the nil We're just not gonna be able to compete.
- 1:39:02Speaker 14: I mean, let me put it this way. It's not
- 1:39:05Speaker 14: important to me to give millions of dollars to Boston
- 1:39:07Speaker 14: College so they become a seven and four football team, right,
- 1:39:12Speaker 14: it doesn't change my life. I love watching Boston College football.
- 1:39:15Speaker 14: I love watching college basketball BC. To the Texas guy,
- 1:39:20Speaker 14: it is important for him to win a national championship.
- 1:39:22Speaker 14: Or the Oklahoma guy or the Alabama guy or the
- 1:39:25Speaker 14: LSG they you know, even if it's millions of dollars
- 1:39:28Speaker 14: out of their pocket, they don't care if they have
- 1:39:30Speaker 14: a chance to win a national championship. In Boston, we
- 1:39:33Speaker 14: really don't care if Boston College is going to win
- 1:39:35Speaker 14: a national championship. And that's just the way it is.
- 1:39:38Speaker 14: It's like, I want to enjoy watching football. It's a brotherhood.
- 1:39:41Speaker 17: I love the guys. We all keep in touch. It's
- 1:39:44Speaker 17: a tight knit group. But you know, if Boston College
- 1:39:47Speaker 17: goes seven and four rather than four and seven.
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a fun yame. We've never been to college.
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: It's never his town.
- 1:39:54Speaker 14: And that's what was so crazy about my years is
- 1:39:57Speaker 14: it was a pro sports down that that one college
- 1:40:00Speaker 14: crazy for a couple of years.
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: Absolutely, that was great. Well, listen, it's great to see you. Yes,
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: thanks for taking the time.
- 1:40:06Speaker 17: I appreciate it.
- 1:40:09Speaker 7: Thanks.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: Dog, all right, Dog, Doug Flutie, everybody, all right, let's
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: take one more break and then we'll wrap it up.
- 1:40:19Speaker 18: Come on, switch, come on, come on, switch.
- 1:40:45Speaker 19: Switch.
- 1:40:49Speaker 35: Let there be ideas too big to stay, ideas and
- 1:40:53Speaker 35: the software to make them sore.
- 1:40:57Speaker 20: Let there be anything.
- 1:41:00Speaker 22: Autodesk The future with AI will twist unturned. Cisco is
- 1:41:07Speaker 22: the critical infrastructure for the AI era, clearing your path
- 1:41:12Speaker 22: to wide open possibility.
- 1:41:15Speaker 31: Cisco.
- 1:41:17Speaker 32: Duncan's five dollar meal deal.
- 1:41:20Speaker 23: A yummy wake up wrap, a media lize you hot coffee,
- 1:41:26Speaker 23: and six crispy Golden hash Browns.
- 1:41:29Speaker 32: Duncan's five dollar meal deal a deal for everyone.
- 1:41:32Speaker 25: It ain't my dad's razor, Dad, Hey watch it. It's
- 1:41:34Speaker 25: from j let lapse.
- 1:41:35Speaker 26: This green bar releases trapped hairs for my face game
- 1:41:38Speaker 26: change well afflex this contours to it so the five
- 1:41:40Speaker 26: blades can get virtually every hair in one stroke.
- 1:41:43Speaker 25: For the ultimate to let shaving experience.
- 1:41:45Speaker 10: The best to make you get is to Let labs.
- 1:41:47Speaker 24: We had a crime stop or tip come in.
- 1:41:49Speaker 19: We walked into a real one tonight.
- 1:41:51Speaker 27: How much you sit on over twenty mil?
- 1:41:54Speaker 28: Any ideas we might want this money? Got the cartel,
- 1:41:58Speaker 28: dirty cops.
- 1:41:59Speaker 15: Where do you want to storo?
- 1:42:09Speaker 29: It can't be so much easier. We just stole this money.
- 1:42:11Speaker 18: I swear to God.
- 1:42:23Speaker 27: A secon.
- 1:42:34Speaker 18: Come on, switch, come on, come on, come on, switch switch.
- 1:43:08Speaker 6: This is Patriots.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: Toyota dot Com.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: All right back here on Radio Row.
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: We're on our final segment, and we are privileged to
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: have the most accurate long snapper in the history of football.
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: I don't mean NFL history of football. Lonnie Paxton here,
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: what's not.
- 1:43:35Speaker 7: Snow?
- 1:43:37Speaker 45: You know that's before Instagram and YouTube. So it was
- 1:43:40Speaker 45: just from the heart, just a Cali kid playing in
- 1:43:42Speaker 45: the snow and up.
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: There you go. But I mean, your accuracy was legendary.
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: It really was.
- 1:43:49Speaker 7: Well. I always felt like I was getting cut the
- 1:43:50Speaker 7: knight of the practice.
- 1:43:52Speaker 45: So you know, Bill had us on our toes and
- 1:43:54Speaker 45: you know, for me, it's eight yards fifteen yards every time,
- 1:43:57Speaker 45: but you're dealing with the elements. But I really had
- 1:43:59Speaker 45: that mojo with Kenny Walters and Josh Miller and some
- 1:44:02Speaker 45: of the great holders of the NFL. It never get credit,
- 1:44:04Speaker 45: but guys are able to get the ball down for
- 1:44:06Speaker 45: Adam or Steve to put it through and obviously the
- 1:44:08Speaker 45: big punts.
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and your accuracy was never more on display than
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: in that safety game in Denver.
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: Now were you aiming for the post or not?
- 1:44:17Speaker 45: Well, you know, when when Bill pulls us off the field,
- 1:44:21Speaker 45: he's like, you know, we practiced fast safeties and slow safeties.
- 1:44:24Speaker 45: Slow as you run around and wait to step out
- 1:44:26Speaker 45: the back. Fast is get it done so you don't
- 1:44:27Speaker 45: lose any time.
- 1:44:28Speaker 7: So he pulls me over.
- 1:44:29Speaker 46: He's like, Lonnie, snap it out of the back of
- 1:44:31Speaker 46: the freaking in So.
- 1:44:34Speaker 17: So I was like, I'll put it in the thirtieth
- 1:44:35Speaker 17: row Bill, you want me to.
- 1:44:37Speaker 45: So I just chucked it and because of the accuracy,
- 1:44:40Speaker 45: the goal post were on a hash that was right
- 1:44:41Speaker 45: behind me, it hit it.
- 1:44:42Speaker 7: Everyone thought it was live ball.
- 1:44:44Speaker 45: Funny part is is when I what when we won,
- 1:44:47Speaker 45: and we get back to practice on Monday. We gotta
- 1:44:48Speaker 45: run our legs out and media stuff. He's like, Packston,
- 1:44:51Speaker 45: get over here, do it again, and we are running.
- 1:44:57Speaker 45: Everyone's like, God, what are you up to? I got
- 1:45:01Speaker 45: a you know, I got four kids, a couple going
- 1:45:04Speaker 45: into high school and a couple of young They all
- 1:45:05Speaker 45: play football, flag football, tackle football, and just I you
- 1:45:10Speaker 45: know when I got when I transitioned out of the league,
- 1:45:12Speaker 45: I worked at GoPro for eight years, so travel the world.
- 1:45:14Speaker 45: Build's a nice nucleus of athletes and brand partners around
- 1:45:19Speaker 45: the world, and you know, Covid kind of took that away.
- 1:45:22Speaker 45: And so I've been independently consulting, advising, sitting on boards,
- 1:45:25Speaker 45: one being Light Helmets, a couple other products, Flag fifty
- 1:45:30Speaker 45: we do live scoring for flag.
- 1:45:32Speaker 46: Football, and just trying to stay involved in sports technology.
- 1:45:34Speaker 45: And that's why I really helped Light out about their
- 1:45:37Speaker 45: their cars bad locally based to me, and I'm passionate
- 1:45:40Speaker 45: about you know, just how light the helmets are, the
- 1:45:42Speaker 45: safety aspect.
- 1:45:44Speaker 46: I want my kids to wear the best stuff. And
- 1:45:46Speaker 46: you know, now it's taken off a bit.
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: Yeah, Doug was talking about it as well. Doug flutie.
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: What about it that you know, is it that you
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: like the most?
- 1:45:54Speaker 46: Well, obviously, I mean the name says it for itself,
- 1:45:57Speaker 46: right light.
- 1:45:57Speaker 45: You know, we were always instructed that these big, bulky,
- 1:46:00Speaker 45: heavy helmets are the safest.
- 1:46:02Speaker 44: Remember that water helmets, Yeah, water shell bike helmets, Yeah,
- 1:46:07Speaker 44: I think I think like Grogan and those guys were
- 1:46:10Speaker 44: probably wearing the ones with just the net didn't right,
- 1:46:14Speaker 44: But it's uh, you know, I like the fact that
- 1:46:16Speaker 44: it is lighter, and the safety studies are proven that
- 1:46:20Speaker 44: a lighter helmet less of a whiplash.
- 1:46:22Speaker 45: It's obviously safe on impact, but the whiplash gets a
- 1:46:24Speaker 45: lot of people when they hit the ground. You saw
- 1:46:26Speaker 45: in the playoffs a few times I was just hitting
- 1:46:28Speaker 45: her head on the ground. And if you can reduce
- 1:46:30Speaker 45: that then it reduces a lot of head injuries.
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: I always, I always say that guys need to strengthen
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: their necks more too, because you see guys they go
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: down and their their heads like you know, on on
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: a on a spring. But like I was always taught,
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: you bull your neck, you know, you do your your
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: your bridges and build up that neck strength and that
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: you know, that helps you from hitting the ground like
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: like they do.
- 1:46:54Speaker 45: Yeah, well, I would say that the the the old
- 1:46:57Speaker 45: school guys did a lot of neck because they had
- 1:46:58Speaker 45: a heavy ass helmet.
- 1:47:00Speaker 7: They need to support it.
- 1:47:01Speaker 45: That's why all football players you're like, look at the
- 1:47:02Speaker 45: neck on that guy. But it's primarily you know, the lineman,
- 1:47:06Speaker 45: d line, linebackers. You don't see as many whiplash injuries
- 1:47:09Speaker 45: because those guys actually concentrate on the smaller guys dbs,
- 1:47:13Speaker 45: you know, receivers, they take a lot of whiplashes and
- 1:47:15Speaker 45: you know they have a strong necks. But you know,
- 1:47:18Speaker 45: the technology is there and it's it's it's evolved. I mean,
- 1:47:21Speaker 45: the the old school, the Rye Dells and shuts, you
- 1:47:23Speaker 45: know those are kind of grandfathered in where you got
- 1:47:25Speaker 45: this kind of new kid on the block that's really
- 1:47:27Speaker 45: making a great product and saving a lot of head injuries.
- 1:47:30Speaker 6: How much do you still watch the game?
- 1:47:31Speaker 17: He's still and we're.
- 1:47:33Speaker 7: Yelling at the TV every weekend.
- 1:47:34Speaker 45: I married a Boston girl Patriot cheerleader and uh and
- 1:47:38Speaker 45: so we're all fans. So I got Boston roots with
- 1:47:41Speaker 45: the Patriots as well as married into it, so you
- 1:47:43Speaker 45: know we're watching it.
- 1:47:44Speaker 7: I'm watching I like watching AFC. You know, the NFC.
- 1:47:47Speaker 45: That doesn't really appeal to me quite quite a bit
- 1:47:49Speaker 45: unless Tommy's you know, announcing, sometimes he drops my name,
- 1:47:53Speaker 45: so I get a little lucky there. And but yeah,
- 1:47:57Speaker 45: we pay attention quite a bit. And still, you know,
- 1:47:59Speaker 45: feel like me sitting back in California with my kids.
- 1:48:02Speaker 45: I could never even I can't like put into words
- 1:48:06Speaker 45: how it feels to be sitting on this side and
- 1:48:08Speaker 45: telling stories to my kids. This is when I was
- 1:48:10Speaker 45: playing and didn't think I'd be sitting there.
- 1:48:12Speaker 9: I was curious if you had any interaction with Marty Marpool,
- 1:48:15Speaker 9: you know, Sacramento State guy.
- 1:48:17Speaker 6: Right, not much, I've said, obviously, it is a huge difference.
- 1:48:20Speaker 7: And yeah, but I said high on the sidelines a
- 1:48:22Speaker 7: few times.
- 1:48:24Speaker 45: Actually his uncle is one of our Pop Warner coaches,
- 1:48:26Speaker 45: so there's a little tie in in Carlsbad. But you know,
- 1:48:30Speaker 45: the Hornets, the sax State they're they're locally based here too.
- 1:48:33Speaker 45: And the new coach, new GM, my former roommate John
- 1:48:36Speaker 45: Ostro Howt. And you know, so anytime I see a
- 1:48:38Speaker 45: Hornet succeeding, you know, you step up and.
- 1:48:40Speaker 7: Say, okay, go ahead, go ahead.
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: I was just gonna ask you about you know, Julian Ashby,
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: we had a rookie long snapper this year pretty flawless,
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: I mean, not not many mistakes.
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: What's it.
- 1:48:49Speaker 7: What's the challenge coming in first year long snapping in
- 1:48:51Speaker 7: the league.
- 1:48:52Speaker 45: Well, the biggest challenge is the team knows that that
- 1:48:55Speaker 45: you're playing against us, right, so they're gonna pick on
- 1:48:57Speaker 45: the rookie.
- 1:48:58Speaker 46: You know, that's when it gets really hard. Now the
- 1:49:00Speaker 46: rules have change.
- 1:49:01Speaker 45: They can't line up on you right when they were
- 1:49:02Speaker 45: lining up on me and I was a rookie or
- 1:49:04Speaker 45: first year guy. They just try to blow you up,
- 1:49:06Speaker 45: make you think about that versus the snap, which you
- 1:49:09Speaker 45: should really just get the snap there and then figure
- 1:49:10Speaker 45: that out.
- 1:49:12Speaker 46: And so it's we practice that way.
- 1:49:14Speaker 45: So now guys won't practice for that initial hit because
- 1:49:17Speaker 45: they don't have to deal with it. And then obviously
- 1:49:19Speaker 45: the situation, the weather, the the moment in the game,
- 1:49:23Speaker 45: the you know what's riding on it, what's on the line,
- 1:49:26Speaker 45: and knowing that you only have one job to do,
- 1:49:28Speaker 45: so you got to do it right.
- 1:49:29Speaker 7: So there's a lot of pressure there.
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: All right, we know you got to fly. But before
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: we go, you got a prediction.
- 1:49:35Speaker 45: Well, I got on a podcast last week, and I
- 1:49:37Speaker 45: said it's gonna come down to a special team's play.
- 1:49:40Speaker 45: And in these big games, I said, ninety percent of
- 1:49:43Speaker 45: our Super Bowls have come down to some sort of
- 1:49:45Speaker 45: special teams play, whether it's with a couple of minutes
- 1:49:47Speaker 45: left or at the very end. I'm calling that again.
- 1:49:49Speaker 45: Patriots win by three or two something to put us above.
- 1:49:53Speaker 45: But we're gonna walk off into history.
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: Love it, okay, all right, Lannie.
- 1:49:57Speaker 7: Yeah, boys, good you see you guys.
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: All right, all right, all right, and that's gonna be
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered Live from Radio Row.
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: We will be back tomorrow at one o'clock. We'll have
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: more guests, more talk, evidably back at some.
- 1:50:12Speaker 8: Point, right, yeah, same, what about the same time.
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: I know, mita, times are gonna be here.
- 1:50:16Speaker 8: I'm not gonna rush.
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: Do we give you a reason to come back?
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: Hope forget to give him?
- 1:50:22Speaker 7: Coming up tonight?
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: That's coming up tonight.
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: What time seven to nine Eastern, four to six specifics? Okay,
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: all right, so I'll look forward to that. We're gonna
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: say goodbye. We'll see you tomorrow.
- 1:50:36Speaker 24: Hey, this is Alex.
- 1:50:37Speaker 6: Thanks for tuning.
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: Help us, make sure you like us.
- 1:50:40Speaker 45: On Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
- 1:50:44Speaker 36: Also make sure you follow us on the New England
- 1:50:46Speaker 36: Patriots YouTube channel to see this show and everything else
- 1:50:49Speaker 36: we do here at the Patriots.
- 1:50:50Speaker 10: That's a lot
