- Lucas: Hey everyone, welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 77 already — can you believe it? Lucas: I know, time flies. So last time we were at the post office, sending letters. Luna: Right, 我想寄信. That was useful. But today, I want something to drink. Lucas: Oh, perfect timing. Today we're learning how to order coffee in Cantonese. Luna: Coffee! Yes. I need that every morning. Lucas: Okay, so the basic phrase is: 我想要咖啡. Luna: 我想要咖啡. Lucas: That means 'I want coffee'. Let's break it down. 我 means 'I', 想 means 'want', 要 is also 'want', together 想要 is 'want', and 咖啡 is coffee. Luna: So 我想要咖啡. Got it. But what if I want iced coffee? Lucas: Great question. Iced coffee is 凍咖啡. 凍 means 'cold' or 'iced'. Luna: 凍咖啡. So 我想要凍咖啡. Lucas: Exactly. And hot coffee is 熱咖啡. 熱 means 'hot'. Luna: 熱咖啡. So I can say 我想要熱咖啡 too. Lucas: Yep. And after you order, you'll want to ask the price. That's 幾多錢. Luna: 幾多錢. That's 'how much'. Lucas: Right. And don't forget 唔該 for 'please' or 'thank you'. Luna: 唔該. So I could say 唔該，我想要凍咖啡. 幾多錢? Lucas: Perfect! That's a full order. Let's practice that together. Luna: Okay. 唔該，我想要凍咖啡. 幾多錢? Lucas: Beautiful. Now let's imagine a little scene. You walk into a cafe, and the staff says 你好. Luna: 你好. I say 唔該，我想要熱咖啡. Lucas: They say 好，十五蚊. That's 'okay, fifteen dollars'. Luna: 十五蚊. So I give them the money and say 唔該 again. Lucas: Yes. And they might say 唔該你. That's 'thank you'. Luna: Okay, I think I can do this next time I'm at a cha chaan teng. Lucas: For sure.
