- 0:00Speaker 1: DearS are on the clock at number one. There was
- 0:02Speaker 1: a debate on who this pick would be. It sounds
- 0:05Speaker 1: like it will be BYU's first number one overall pick
- 0:09Speaker 1: in school history.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Carter, is this the right pick? I think so.
- 0:12Speaker 3: I think you don't pass up on the star potential
- 0:14Speaker 3: that you have an age of Debonci. You don't see
- 0:15Speaker 3: a guy with that size and that scoring package at
- 0:18Speaker 3: this young of an age. You combine that with the athleticism,
- 0:21Speaker 3: and also when you're picking number one, you got to
- 0:22Speaker 3: get a little bit of a superstar at that point,
- 0:24Speaker 3: and he's got that superstar kind.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Of aura to him as the kids like to stay.
- 0:28Speaker 3: I think he's going to be a star, and I
- 0:29Speaker 3: think that's the kind of punch that the Wizards needed.
- 0:31Speaker 2: But U, is this who you would have taken number
- 0:32Speaker 2: one for Washington? Absolutely would have took him.
- 0:34Speaker 4: I think that makes sense, especially with the extension of
- 0:37Speaker 4: Trey Young. You think about Trey Young and his intangls.
- 0:40Speaker 4: He's a smaller guard, kind of a negative on the
- 0:43Speaker 4: defensive end. So you think about the pieces that the
- 0:46Speaker 4: Wizards are adding. Anthony Davis, you got star behind him,
- 0:50Speaker 4: and you add a sixty nine, sixty ten wing as well,
- 0:54Speaker 4: building an incredible defensive wall to go with Trey Young.
- 0:57Speaker 4: But for him individually, he's mature, he's got it. He's
- 1:00Speaker 4: got the size, he's got the athleticism, he has the
- 1:02Speaker 4: score and ability, everything you're looking for in the athletic wing.
- 1:06Speaker 4: So to me, this pick just totally makes sense for
- 1:08Speaker 4: the Wizards.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Wats I can't help but notice this was not the
- 1:11Speaker 1: number one name on your big board coming into the draft.
- 1:14Speaker 2: But what grade do you have for the Wizards? It wasn't.
- 1:17Speaker 5: This is listen. Aj is very good case, is the
- 1:20Speaker 5: best prospect in the draft. Obviously fits nicely on the
- 1:24Speaker 5: wing they could use one. He has the star power,
- 1:27Speaker 5: the positional size. He hasn't shown up here, so let's
- 1:31Speaker 5: click him. Let's find him right here, and we're gonna
- 1:33Speaker 5: give him yet. I mean, this is this is an
- 1:35Speaker 5: a no question in my mind, very safe pick. High ceiling,
- 1:40Speaker 5: high floor, and you know, we look to see like
- 1:45Speaker 5: his style of play, right he is a very very
- 1:47Speaker 5: skilled one on one player and again with that positional height,
- 1:51Speaker 5: he's got the ability to create his own shot from
- 1:53Speaker 5: different spots on the floor. You can see here, he's
- 1:55Speaker 5: got the recognition to see that space. The double comes,
- 1:58Speaker 5: he turns over that left shoulder, and he has incredible
- 2:01Speaker 5: shot making ability from three levels, a very very advanced
- 2:05Speaker 5: shot creator and shot maker. He reminds me of a
- 2:08Speaker 5: couple different guys, Carmelo, but also Jalen Brown, who's obviously
- 2:13Speaker 5: in the news as well. This is a guy who
- 2:14Speaker 5: has number one overall, number one option type of potential.
- 2:18Speaker 5: Again with the three level stuff. Let's see how he
- 2:21Speaker 5: fits with the Washington Wizards. Here. We're going to plug
- 2:24Speaker 5: him in right away for by Lal Kolabali. And look
- 2:30Speaker 5: at that lineup. Now you have star power all over
- 2:33Speaker 5: the place on the wing with Trey and Anthony Davis,
- 2:36Speaker 5: asar Dan Low so easy fit. A very safe pick
- 2:40Speaker 5: in terms of the physical ability, the skill level, the production.
- 2:43Speaker 5: Led the country in scoring as a freshman. He really
- 2:46Speaker 5: matched the hype coming in.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I think as you watched this season progressive by u
- 2:50Speaker 1: car it was undeniable to see how it could translate
- 2:53Speaker 1: to the NBA level. One thing you alluded to is
- 2:56Speaker 1: the fact that he carries himself like a true alpha,
- 2:58Speaker 1: a true franchise player superstar, from the personality to what
- 3:02Speaker 1: he brings out of the court as well Booge, I'm
- 3:04Speaker 1: curious to ask you this because Trey Jung is a superstar,
- 3:08Speaker 1: Anthony Davis is a superstar. They're adding a third, big name,
- 3:13Speaker 1: big personality to that. Certainly, the veteran talents are going
- 3:16Speaker 1: to have to sort of be welcoming for this to work.
- 3:18Speaker 2: How do you see that going out?
- 3:20Speaker 4: I think that's ideal. I think it's a great situation
- 3:23Speaker 4: for a young Slooper start to walk into. You need
- 3:26Speaker 4: current stars to groom the new star, you know what
- 3:29Speaker 4: I mean. So having a veteran like Anthony Davis, having
- 3:32Speaker 4: a veteran like Trey young A two guys that can
- 3:35Speaker 4: kind of show you the ropes make that transition a
- 3:37Speaker 4: little easier for you. I think it's a perfect situation.
- 3:40Speaker 4: So two great guys to learn from. You got a
- 3:42Speaker 4: champion Anthony Davis who's done it at the elite. He's
- 3:45Speaker 4: done it, He's been elite at every level he's played at.
- 3:48Speaker 4: So for AJ to come in and that shit veteran,
- 3:50Speaker 4: that's the guy you get to work with every day,
- 3:52Speaker 4: learn from every day, it's only a plus for AJ
- 3:55Speaker 4: moving forward.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Kur, How good are the Wizards right now? I think
- 3:58Speaker 3: they could be really good? Honestly, Adday is healthy. Trey
- 4:01Speaker 3: Young is one of the more underappreciated point guards. I
- 4:03Speaker 3: think in the NBA he gets slighted a little bit
- 4:05Speaker 3: because of his size and maybe some defensive stuff. But
- 4:07Speaker 3: I mean, when you just look at that big three
- 4:09Speaker 3: right there, I'm go ahead and throw the big three
- 4:10Speaker 3: word out there. Trey Young, AJ Debontsa and Anthony Davis
- 4:13Speaker 3: is going to be a.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Truugh, tough trio to stop. Are we going big three
- 4:17Speaker 2: for that boogie? That's a big term, big three of
- 4:19Speaker 2: the NBA.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Alright, Man, I like, I like to, you know, respect
- 4:22Speaker 4: the rookies, but I also want the rookies to respect
- 4:24Speaker 4: the veterans. It's a real it's a real transition into
- 4:27Speaker 4: the pro level. So I don't like to put too
- 4:30Speaker 4: big of expectations on these young guys. I wanted to
- 4:32Speaker 4: come in, you know, learn the ropes. You know, obviously
- 4:35Speaker 4: you become a part of a team as a rookie,
- 4:37Speaker 4: and then if that star is really a star, then
- 4:40Speaker 4: the team becomes here. So it's a process for him
- 4:42Speaker 4: right now, and I just wanted to go through this process.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Well, one thing that's undeniable and ready is the scoring
- 4:48Speaker 1: because I have not seen many scorers in my twenty
- 4:50Speaker 1: five years of watching college basketball that as NBA ready.
- 4:54Speaker 1: As AJ debonsa car, how do you think that's going
- 4:56Speaker 1: to look at an NBA uniform from day one?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Look.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I think that's one of the great about AJ is
- 5:00Speaker 3: that when you watch him score at a college level,
- 5:03Speaker 3: it can translate to the NBA. He has the isolation scoring,
- 5:05Speaker 3: he has the mid range game, he has the athleticism.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I actually think he shot the three ball better than
- 5:10Speaker 2: he got credit for.
- 5:11Speaker 3: If he brings that along a little bit in the
- 5:12Speaker 3: next coming years, I think kind of about.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Year of three, he'll be a leading scorer in the NBA. Eventually,
