- Chuck Atkinson: Welcome back everybody to play under review. This is your host Chuck Atkinson and Jeremy Spencer. ready for another great episode. I hope you guys are joining us once again for our fourth. we're looking to talk about what this week, Jared football, baseball coming to an end. Jeremy Spencer: we got a little bit of football on the Yeah, some the Jays coming to an end and the start of the NHL hockey season. Go habs. Chuck Atkinson: That's right. Yeah, Jar's favorite time of year. Bigger than Christmas season. And so yeah. Jeremy Spencer: Love it. it's just great. Chuck Atkinson: So yeah, we'll touch on some basketball as well and see how the Raptors are gonna start the season off. Kawhi's got his big deal, and so we'll touch on a little bit of everything this week. But as always, folks, we're gonna start out with NFL week three. Jar, first of all, never mind about the right real deal. How are the flea bastards doing after week three so far? Jeremy Spencer: Well could be better. We didn't have a very good week. We had some injury situations and just just a poor week. We well it it also depends on what league we're talking about. Flea Bastards version one or two. In the in the Halifax League, Chuck Atkinson: Well, you you know which one we're talking about. The one all of our fans the one all of our fans have been hearing about, waiting to hear about the weekly updates, 'cause this is the year of the fleas. We want the Riverview Fantasy Football League. We want the one where you're chasing Jeremy Spencer: A hundred percent. So so Chuck Atkinson: El Grande Americano here. Jeremy Spencer: So I'll lay I'll lay out the situation that I'm in at the moment. I've currently got sixty four points. It's Monday night. Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: Jalen Hurts is on the mound. So Chuck Atkinson: Okay. And you're chasing are I I'm assuming I'm just assuming you're chasing both games. Jeremy Spencer: I need a I need twenty six points to tie the Irving Oilers who are all in four at the moment. I'm currently three and one though. I mean yeah. Chuck Atkinson: All right. Tw so twenty six and a half. Twenty six and a half. He needs a reception. Jeremy Spencer: The I need a twenty six and a half burger. Chuck Atkinson: All right. Jeremy Spencer: So but that's what's happening. I am also losing my other game to the DAC attack ninety six to sixty-four, but he's also got Dontavian Wicks going tonight, so there's not, you know, unless Hertz goes off for forty points, it's looking like I could lose two games, Chuck Atkinson: And Wix doesn't show up yet. Jeremy Spencer: but I I I it's still salvageable. Hertz has a good game tonight. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: I'm one and one again, and my record overall would be four and two. Current I'm three and one, man. Chuck Atkinson: Ever ever ever the o Jeremy Spencer: How can you be upset at the year of the flea so far? Chuck Atkinson: Ever the Optimus, if there ever was one. Jerry, yeah, absolutely. A 40 burger Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, man. No. Chuck Atkinson: from Jalen Hurts with Don Tavian Wicks not doing anything to support those 40 points on behalf of the receiving end. Well, that's a lot of tush pushes into the end zone. Jeremy Spencer: Well that would mean yeah. That would mean all those points Hertz would have to give to somebody else. Don't be Well, he could run a few in himself, you know? Chuck Atkinson: Well, got yeah, he's got Devontae Smith. Goddard you had him, right? He's out. He's out, isn't he? He's hurt. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, I have him. He's out. I had to play craft Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: this week who had four points. So that's part of my struggles. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Jeremy Spencer: you know, Jadarian Price has been a complete disappointment to start the season. Had one and a half points this week. You can't have that Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: out of a starting running back and I was hoping that but that's my fault pulling a bob, hoping a rookie would carry the weight of a number two running back. Chuck Atkinson: Well you didn't Jeremy Spencer: But he might get. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, it's still early in the season. We're only game three. It's a long haul. It it's a marathon. You know. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, luck luckily Walker has been ripping it up in Kansas City, and that's another thing we'll talk about after is the Chiefs, but la how how are the X Factor Fair and Chuck Atkinson: thus far, we we have one lockdown. so I believe I I've beaten the throbbing pythons, which is always a fantastic name. Can't not say that name Jeremy Spencer: He's Chuck Atkinson: and not laugh. Brian, Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: you're the guy, you're the man. give them an old super Dave thumbs up. But no, so one and thus far, we're facing off against the Finns tonight, the only Finns. And he has who is it going? yeah, Loveland and Barkley. I'm up by I believe n ten points. Nine and a half ten points. Jeremy Spencer: You're up actually a hundred and eight to a hundred points even right now. And he's got Barclay Chuck Atkinson: All right. Jeremy Spencer: and Loveland going. Yeah. So that's gonna be a tough one. Chuck Atkinson: That's a tough one. So I'm just hoping that Loveland's trend of not showing up and not getting any fantasy production thus far carries on even further this week. And Barkley just, you Jeremy Spencer: And Barclay runs backwards. Chuck Atkinson: know, I hope that the Bears are the Bears of eighty five tonight, you know, the the best defense in the world for one night only. So Jeremy Spencer: Mm-hmm. Well, they're gonna have to be because they got quarterback problems themselves. So if they're gonna win a game, it's gonna have to be. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, do they ever? Do they ever? yeah, the back to real football talk a little bit here for you. yes, the axe factor might go two and guaranteed one and one. Definitely tied for first place in their division after week three with the Sea Dogs, who I predicted to be number one in the long haul rankings here. So they're off to a great start as well. Kudos to the Sea Dogs. but yeah, no. where were we going there with that one? Loveland, right? Jeremy Spencer: I don't know. Chuck Atkinson: No. The Bears. Maybe. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, love one. Chuck Atkinson: No, they're Jeremy Spencer: Well yeah, no, we were talking about we were just talking about your team. So essentially you're you're well y you want to go to the Chargers. Chargers. Chuck Atkinson: the Chargers. Let's let's talk about the Chargers. my goodness. The Chargers. Yeah, O and three. Who could have predicted that? Jeremy Spencer: The charges. Chuck Atkinson: Who could have predicted that? This guy. This guy. Yeah, Mike McDaniel. And it's Mike McDaniel, Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, it's true. You were saying the whole time Chuck Atkinson: right? Yeah. Mike McDaniel missed to roll up his pants and playing the sand. Drawing plays in the sand. Jeremy Spencer: I have no idea. I don't pay attention to the chargers. Chuck Atkinson: I don't know what the hell is going on in Los Angeles. Well, listen, I don't think their fans in Los Angeles are really paying attention to the Chargers either right now. They got the Rams in town. You have other things to do right now if you're a Los Angeles sports fan. So the Chargers are gonna be on the last thing of anybody's mind. I mean, you got the Dodgers, they're going to the playoffs. You got the Padres down the road, they're going to the playoffs. You got the Rams. What did they do last year? yeah, they like what the second best team of football. They should have won to the Super Bowl, but they lost to the Seahawks, who smoked who's that? the the the Chargers? Jeremy Spencer: Also, they're looking still pretty good. I know you didn't like the Rams a lot this year, but the no the Rams. This year. Chuck Atkinson: No, I I told you before, remember? That that was my er that was my no, they were gonna flop this year and thus far, I mean, not that they're gonna flop all the way through, but I just predicted they're not gonna make the playoffs. They're not who they thought they were or people were selling them as. But Charger Land, no, it's a Suckville. It is a big giant Suckville. Yeah, no, they they have they have no idea what's going Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, well it's not much Chuck Atkinson: on. They have no idea what's going on. I mean Let's be real. It's a clown car. It Jeremy Spencer: The frozen tundra doesn't look much better, buddy. Chuck Atkinson: Right. You as a Packer fan right now, I mean shit, excuse the language. You know, we're we're both Jeremy Spencer: Things are not looking good here. Chuck Atkinson: No, we're both in Suckville. The Packers, who who'd you guys lose to this week? Jeremy Spencer: I mean Well we well you lost to Atlanta this week and I think yeah it was yeah in Lambo we barely friggin' beat Chuck Atkinson: right. In Lambeau Field, that's right. It was it it was a murder scene. Jeremy Spencer: the Jets barely beat the Jets and then the Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: and the week and loss in week one it's unfortunately having no running Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. You got murdered in your backyard. Jeremy Spencer: game at all we we got no running game without Jacobs and like Chuck Atkinson: This is what I'm coming to learn about the Packers. And hey, I I know I know I Jeremy Spencer: They just and they d they never Chuck Atkinson: know pain. I know pain. It's a lot of hype. It's a lot of hype for these guys. The Jordan Loves right now. The Justin Herberts. It's a lot of hype. You know, great throwers of the ball. But I mean, come on. It's it's Suckville for both of us. Losing to the Falcons. Jeremy Spencer: Y yeah and like Chuck Atkinson: Losing to the Falcons, what, 35 14 was it? Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. something like that. It it it's hard Chuck Atkinson: Something like that. In Green in Green Bay. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, thirty five fourteen is exactly what it was in Green Bay. So Chuck Atkinson: in Green Bay against a quarterback who's just coming off an ACL Jeremy Spencer: I don't I haven't seen anything yet. Chuck Atkinson: injury. Jeremy Spencer: I haven't seen anything yet from Jordan Love that like being a Packers fan, we've had like w we could sit back in the recliner knowing each week that our quarterback was gonna be the w one of the best players in the football game every single week for decades Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: with Rogers as much as Rogers was a putz off the field, the guy could play football. Chuck Atkinson: he's he's still a pot. But yeah, I get your point, yeah. Jeremy Spencer: Brett Farr before that, like the Packers have had Great quarterbacks and it looked like Love was gonna be that guy too. And I'm not saying he's not good and but he just doesn't seem to have the same he doesn't have the the the the Max Scherzer gene. He doesn't he's not Chuck Atkinson: Doesn't have the makeup. Doesn't have the makeup, yeah. It yeah, you don't ha he doesn't have that you know, that it quality. Jeremy Spencer: winning games like at you know, he's not bringing I don't know. He just doesn't you can dump he doesn't he doesn't feel the same watching it. That's just my guts. Chuck Atkinson: look he here's my take on the here's my take on the Packers quarterback situation and how they've rubbed off on each other in a ra a bad way. So you have Brett Ferve, okay. Great players. These are gonna be great players. Brett Fav, awesome career. What do you do for the last three, four years of his career in Green Bay? Waffled every year. Am I retiring? Am I not retiring? It's a me show, it's not a me show, it's a team show, it's a me show. And then they draft Aaron Love or Aaron Rogers, sorry. And then what does he do? He gotta sit back and watch Brett Fryer for four years, going, maybe, maybe not. I run the team, it's all about me. Then he leaves. Finally, finally. So, what does that happen for four years though? Aaron Rodgers learns hey, I can be a dick too, but and they'll love me. So he goes on, has a nice career, wins a Super Bowl. And then they draft Jordan Love. What happens to him? Sits behind Aaron Rodgers for a couple of years. And he starts to model his game and his playing style after Aaron Rodgers. Do you ever notice this? Just the way he throws the ball carelessly. You know, he gives that little flick. You you know what I mean. You know, he gives that little Rogers flick. He's not Aaron Rodgers. Be Jordan Love. Jeremy Spencer: Yep. Yeah, but the difference is the difference is Rogers could do it. Chuck Atkinson: Well, Roger did it he did it one year Jeremy Spencer: If you're gonna be like that, you eat a lot of the time. Chuck Atkinson: and got him a Super Bowl the rest of the time and that was way back in two thousand and twelve when he did it and we're two thousand and seventeen. No, no, two thousand and twenty six, that's right. And he hasn't won anything. Jeremy Spencer: He's thrown for seven hundred yards this year in four touchdowns already. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Jeremy Spencer: Ha ha. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. And tell me this year's not about him. Jeremy Spencer: I I'm sure it is. I'm not saying he's changed. I'm just saying I'm just saying I'm just saying Yeah, but the difference is the numbers are there. Chuck Atkinson: It's it's his retirement tour. It's all about him. It's always about him. And just like for the last three years, am I, am I not, will I, will I not? They're all prima donnas, these guys. They're prima donna. Jeremy Spencer: I agree. But they put numbers up and Jordan Love hasn't done that yet. So at least hi he's not you know They would act like that and then still, you know, throw you three or four touchdowns in a game and put up three hundred and twenty yards and Chuck Atkinson: I just think he has this I I this is when we're gonna wrap him this up on the Packers there because we're beating a dead Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: horse now, you know. you know, I just I just feel a little bit you know, the the the logo, the history of Green Bay, that sense of entitlement with that whole quarterback history. Prove me wrong, Jordan Love. Go win yourself a division. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah what Chuck Atkinson: You know, never mind you don't have a running back situation, okay? There lot of teams didn't have running back situations. Tom Brady didn't have running back situations for a long time. His leading rusher was Kevin Fault. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: And look what he did. Jeremy Spencer: But they also have a receiver situation too, so Chuck Atkinson: Well, you know. Jeremy Spencer: There's not a lot happening Green Unfortunately th things are not Chuck Atkinson: Well Troy Brown. Troy Brown. What do you want me to tell you? you know, Brady won with scraps. You know what I mean? It it it's it's it Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. No, it's true. Chuck Atkinson: it's it's the system, it's it's you as a quarterback, you as a player, you do you have the Max Scherzer in ya to go and get that championship? He doesn't right now, I don't think. He could. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Nope. Chuck Atkinson: He could. So yeah, so Jeremy Spencer: But moving on from those two socky football teams. Chuck Atkinson: Right, yeah, we've given that given that enough air of our life. Jeremy Spencer: Ha ha. Chuck Atkinson: so yeah, back in the what, the rest of the NFL world, Pat Mahomes back to normal. jeez. Jeremy Spencer: the chiefs the the the chefs look great. So Chuck Atkinson: Lay your lay your money down now. Jeremy Spencer: The chefs look great. Walker Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: is ripping up the friggin' place. It's just they've and Mahomes looks like his old self. So look out. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Man, Kelsey looks like he's thirty five instead of thirty six. You know, they're yeah, they're they're they're off to a fantastic start. Jeremy Spencer: if they can do it all year. But they are off to a good start and they just look really pretty dominant when they're on the field, so Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Three and yeah. Absolutely. Any anything else going on around football this this week? what else were we gonna touch on there? yeah, Bijan having that wild game against the Packers going for two hundred, you know, helping with that beatdown, unfortunately. Sorry. Jeremy Spencer: I th I think that's gonna be our our our thing this year. Running backs are probably gonna run wild on the Packers. We got that's another thing. De Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, I mean Jeremy Spencer: our defense we got injuries too. That's but so does everybody. Micah Parsons kinda hurts. And we don't have the draft pick for next Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, Micah Parsons. That's right. He's still out. yeah. Don't know when he's coming back. Jeremy Spencer: year, so that's gonna kill us. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, a couple should be a couple more weeks before Micah gets back and hopefully sooner than later for you guys. And I mean that division is still wide open. Nobody's running away with it just yet. I know Minnesota, I believe, off to a three-no start, but they've allowed more points against, I believe, than they scored. No, that's not true. They've allowed more yards total, Jeremy Spencer: Who's that? Chuck Atkinson: I believe. Minnesota. Undefeated team, I believe, in first place. They've allowed more total yards than they've actually achieved. So that's the first time that's happened in a long time, if Jeremy Spencer: Doesn't say it on the sh. Chuck Atkinson: I'm not mistaken. Which is a weird stat. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, they've scored seventy one points and given up forty one though. As opposed to the Packers have given up ninety two Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, no, hey, that yeah, absolutely. Jeremy Spencer: points at this point. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. But they they've Jeremy Spencer: Ninety one. Chuck Atkinson: so let's say though, I think maybe I'm just throwing a ballpark here, you know. Let's say they've gotten a thousand yards total as a team. They've given up like thirteen hundred yards total against their defense. So the numbers and the math is just not adding up, so it's gonna flatten out eventually here for the Vikings if they don't actually Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: stop and then score more on offense. and Justin Jefferson Jefferson, I believe, is hurt this week. may not play. High ankle sprain. I think it's a high ankle sprain. Ankle sprain of sores, I believe. but yeah, another thing though I wanted to hit on is the Patriots. The Patriots. What is going on? Mayday. It's it's not Drake, Drake, May, May. It's Mayday. They're yelling Mayday now. This guy is turning into a a skid. He is. What Jeremy Spencer: Wow. Well it it was such a great year for them last year kinda out of nowhere. And maybe that was Chuck Atkinson: Well, I mean Jeremy Spencer: just a an an anomaly. Maybe they're gonna go back Chuck Atkinson: Well, the start of the year. Jeremy Spencer: to being like they were for the last few years before that. Chuck Atkinson: Offensively, the first three quarters of the season, he was great. the last quarter of the season leading and going into the playoffs, he was absolutely horrible. I mean it's not like this was unforeseen in a way. If the trend was to continue, then yeah, how he's starting this year is not really unexpected. But you know, he started what, seven turnovers, I think so far, three games. I think he had Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, it. Chuck Atkinson: Si I know he had six interceptions last year, all year, and I think he has five or six right now. but yeah, I mean they're not scoring on offense. They can't stop anybody on defense. but then again, last year they had the softest schedule of anybody who made the playoffs. And yeah, that they're they're a little offensively challenged right now. So it's if there's a team that needs a running game, it it's the Patriots. But hey, listen, the kids still young. Can't throw these quarterbacks under the bus too too too quick. need a little more patience for these guys. Can't throw all these expectations. You know, if you don't win it in your second year or your third year, you know, you're not gonna you're not gonna have you shouldn't you Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, yeah. It takes sometimes Chuck Atkinson: shouldn't have a long term career. You're not you're you know, you're not a a QB, a franchise QB. now listen, if you're injury prone, then yeah, that might cause some people concern to say, Hey, Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: pump the brakes on this guy, but you know, if Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, yeah, but only one team wins every year, man. Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: If you rack up the losses, right. I mean if you rack up losses, look at Peyton Manning's first year. What, one in fifteen? How'd that career go? Most interceptions in one season in NFL history, how'd that career go? Imagine if the Colts have bailed on him after year two, year three. Wow. You know. but yeah, no, it's it it's a what can you do for me, league? We'll see. We'll see. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, Rogers, not Rogers, but my big takeaway though from NFL is that the Raiders are three and and the Chargers are and three. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: Just just think about that. Just think about that. The Raiders are three and and the Chargers are on three. Now, I expected the Chargers to be, you know, one and two. and three? Sure. Why not? I'm a Chargers fan. You don't get your high your hopes too high. But the Raiders will be three and Kudos to Kirk Cousins. Absolutely. Keep the Mendoza on the bench. Let him watch Jeremy Spencer: Yep, they're doing it up. They're doing it up. Chuck Atkinson: let him watch for the season. So but speaking of seasons, i isn't it yeah, is Jar's favorite time of year. Hockey season. The NHL. And folks, what can I say? I I I my level of knowledge of hockey is not on the same level as my colleague here. He is a wizard and yeah hopefully Jeremy Spencer: Well, I I don't know if a wizard is the the term for it, but but yeah. No, I I you used to follow hockey a lot back in the day. You coached hockey for freak's sakes. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. No, that's right. Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: Y so yeah. But more recently I think I've paid attention a little more. Chuck Atkinson: So Jared, with hockey season starting tomorrow night, I I know you're super excited. I got my big game of the night. Who's your big game of the night tomorrow night? Jeremy Spencer: Well Chuck Atkinson: Anybody in particular that you may or may not like? Jeremy Spencer: It's the Habs Leafs. It's the Habs it's the Habs Leafs. I know you're all wondering. But Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: the Habs Leafs, I've been waiting for this. Every year I wait for this. It's like it's like Christmas right now. I can't wait for this. Chuck Atkinson: It's like sending his kids off to school every year. He gets an empty house. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, Ang is like, I'll see ya in March. And hopefully this year it's June. But no, I I'm stoked. I can't wait. I can't wait for the game. So Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: just speaking of that, the leafs are gonna look a little different coming into Monday night. They just made a trade and they they traded Chuck Atkinson: That's right. Matthew Nyes, right? Jeremy Spencer: Matthew Nyes. Basically Matthew Nyes for Karel Martinko, but they got a little added Elvis. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Jeremy Spencer: yeah, so they got Elvis Merzleakin's. Apparently Columbus has eaten some of that salary, so now they've got themselves 38-year-old Bobrowski. I love saying that name too. Bobrowski. Yeah, but anyway. Bobrowski. Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: Babrowski. Well, you gotta give it a little on right. Little nod to Jay Onre. A little Babrovski. Jeremy Spencer: Anyway, but so it turns out he's now almost thirty nine years old. So Chuck Atkinson: All right. Jeremy Spencer: they've got They've got Bob, they've got Stolars, and now they've got a little Alvis Merzlikens. so they got confusion, this is what they got. Chuck Atkinson: Sounds like a game of musical chairs up on the on on their way. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, so probably anyway, I think you'll you'll see a few of those. I don't know what they're gonna do with Elvis now they got But basically there was a Matthew Nyes for Marchenko trade. And Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Okay. Jeremy Spencer: you basically got yourselves three years older. Like Marchenko's great hockey player. he's probably on still getting better. Matthew Nyes, Chuck Atkinson: Young kids still, right? Young Jeremy Spencer: yeah, he's twenty six, so he's he's moving into his his prime. But Nice is twenty three. The you know, I don't know how he just fell out of sorts with the Leafs in the last half a year, 'cause there was rumors that he was going to the Habs at the end of the year. And actually apparently there was a deal done, sent, and the dumbass that was in charge of Toronto at the time didn't get the trade to the league in time. That and that was reported by Elliot Friedman. So apparently Matthew Nides was essentially a hab at the deadline, but the Leafs GM Wasn't able to get to the phone or send the fax, whatever. I think they sent faxes, Chuck Atkinson: Well, he he's he's probably his AO his AOL account probably got cancelled. Jeremy Spencer: Anyway, he they th that deal didn't go through, so we didn't get any Matthew Nice at the trade deadline. But I don't know what happened and why they wanted to get rid of him. But probably since the point that he knew he was about to be traded and pretty much was traded, just a technicality stopped it from happening. Probably soured his time with the Leafs, my guessin', so then they just probably kept looking to make a deal. But the the deal that we had they didn't want to do anymore 'cause I I don't think we offered enough and their other GM who's now fired, you know, tray living, Chuck Atkinson: Right. the when the Wendy's burger guy. Jeremy Spencer: yeah. So once the new GM got there, he's like, No, no, we're not making that deal. So unfortunately the Habs screwed. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. So do you is there is there did is there Jeremy Spencer: But and the leaves kept kept nice. Chuck Atkinson: any was there any wind of who would have been going back to Toronto in that deal? Jeremy Spencer: i in this deal, yeah, it was where'd it go? I had it right here. Yeah, the it was Matthew Nice had it in the prospects Lorenz and Andre in a second round pick went to Columbus in return for Kirill Marchenko, Miles Wood, and Elvis Merzlikens. So essentially Chuck Atkinson: No, I mean no no as far as the the the trade last year that was supposedly ready to go down but didn't go down because of a bad fax machine. Does do you know like was there any wind of who Montreal was willing to send back for Matthew Nice? Jeremy Spencer: I forget who was in in the deal, but it was it was a couple picks, I think. And Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Nobody off the active roster though. Jeremy Spencer: It was a couple picks. It was somebody off the active roster, but it was I don't remember. Or maybe it wasn't. It might have been another no, it was a couple of picks in a a prospect that we have. So it wasn't Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Jeremy Spencer: like one of our big prospects like Hage or Zorofsky, but it was it was somebody. I f I forget who it is now, but but yeah, that actually it supposedly Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, I mean Jeremy Spencer: really went down. Chuck Atkinson: Wow, that close. And yeah, Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: with Nice, I mean y Nice is what, he's gotta be a couple of years younger, a year or two younger, twenty three, okay. So he's three years younger than Martin. Okay. Jeremy Spencer: Twenty-three. Twenty-three, Marchenko's twenty-six. And and Nice last year had sixty-six points. Marchenko had sixty Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: seven. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. And so when the Leafs just traded for him, they signed him to the extension. Marchenko did, yeah. Jeremy Spencer: I think they got to extension, yeah. Or they're working on it. I think so. Chuck Atkinson: yeah, so they signed him to the extension twelve five for six years. my first thought of that was okay, I don't know who Marchenko is. No offense to this guy. He's been playing in Columbus for one. So I mean, a lot gets lost in Columbus as far as talent goes. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, yeah. I know he's he's he's good. Chuck Atkinson: so you can have to you have to escape some act you have to escape some markets to really get known. Yeah, he's getting yeah, he's getting paid twelve five. Jeremy Spencer: Is that the number though, really? D I'm just digesting that. The twelve you d it said twelve five? Chuck Atkinson: He's twelve five. Okay. So his salary right now, yeah, so I this is why I looked up here earlier. His salary is the twelfth highest in the NHL. Think about that. The twelfth highest player in the NHL of thirty-two teams, or is there forty now? I can't count anymore. Jeremy Spencer: Yep, leave it to the leaves. Chuck Atkinson: Is there forty? I can't count how many teams are in the NHL. Jeremy Spencer: He's not definitely not the twelfth best player. Chuck Atkinson: He's a twelfth highest paid player. And do you know who he's tied with? Just to put it in context of how good of a deal this is gonna sound. Jeremy Spencer: Who's he tied? Who's he tied with? Chuck Atkinson: Connor McDavid. Jeremy Spencer: yeah. But Connor's no longer the highest paid player. Chuck Atkinson: Connor McDavid is making the same no. But this is just unfathomable. But some guy who's making 60, you know, 12.5 million dollars for 65 to 70 points. And listen, with all due Jeremy Spencer: Do you realize that Montreal has Chuck Atkinson: respect to him and congratulations to this man's agent. Kudos to you, buddy. hey, call Jer and I. We'd love to have you. Yeah, play under review. A pod, any channel you can follow us, get us a nice big fat contract. A la Marchenko, please. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: I don't know much about Marchenko, but I know his money now and I like his agent. Jeremy Spencer: Well well, do you realize do do you know that Montreal has I mean, we've got a hundred point Nick Suzuki and Selkie winner wrapped up Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: for eight million. We got a fifty goal scorer in Cole Caulfield wrapped Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: up eight million. We've Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: got Lane Hudson rookie of the year and in the top ten Chuck Atkinson: Top three. Jeremy Spencer: He's he's way Chuck Atkinson: Top three defensemen. Jeremy Spencer: in the top ten defensemen right now. we've like it's it's Chuck Atkinson: listen, I'm not a Habs fan, folks. I'm gonna cut you off there, Jerry. Jeremy Spencer: wild what we've been able to do with our salary cap and all the guys they were just talking about I was hearing them interview. They're happy. They're they they're this is what they want to do. Demidoff, this agent was half mad at him this summer because he just signed another deal around eight million. No, actually he's nine something. He's getting paid more 'cause of the but he took the deal and specifically so that Other players can sign and they can have a Chuck Atkinson: Right. Jeremy Spencer: a competitive hockey team going forward. And they're happy about it. They're not upset. Chuck Atkinson: Hudson, by the way. Jeremy Spencer: They're not looking for more money. They're not holding out. And and I give the Chuck Atkinson: Your defenseman, your defenseman, by the way, he's a top three defenseman in the N chel, not top ten. He's a top three defenseman. He's that he I'm listen, I'm not a Habs fan. I'm not Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, I was being nice. I didn't want to be a homer. But Lane Hudson is the shit, man. It's like Kale McCarr, Quinn Hughes, Lane Hudson. Those are the guys. Chuck Atkinson: Not a Habs fan. you know this, but I recognize talent and they have got it going on in Montreal. So that's yeah. What can I say? Jeremy Spencer: And we got room to make more moves coming up. And if the right piece was Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. I'm jealous as a Wings fan. Jeremy Spencer: to fall in I mean, we have the salary cap we're gonna have by trade deadline I was seeing is somewhere between eight and nine million at the deadline this year. So Chuck Atkinson: I would ask if you have I would ask if you have any draft picks or or or prospects that are brewing in your in your system that you'd like to trade to us and and come to Detroit and we can give you Dylan Larkin. but I'm afraid that as Jeremy Spencer: Hmm. None. Chuck Atkinson: soon as I put on the Red Wing jersey, they're just gonna turn to shit. And it it's you know what can I that's why we're talking all habs right now, because there's just nothing to talk about in Motortown, in Motor City. It is hot garbage. Hot garbage. You have a part-time general manager. He's not even a full-time GM. He is a part-time GM. He's somebody that found a they found him at La Jeremy Spencer: He's not. He's got a part time GM. Chuck Atkinson: Blaz and said, Hey, do you want to be a GM? They said yes. All right, you can be the Red Wings GM. Jeremy Spencer: How's How's this all gonna get straightened out? Chuck Atkinson: I don't know. We're gonna find players at Safemart. I don't know. No. No. Get Jeremy Spencer: Can't straighten there with a part time GM. Anyway. But yeah, Habs leaves Tuesday night, man, to start the season off is gonna be a doozy. I am yeah. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Absolutely. any so with the with the Habs leaf and a anything that you're anticipating from that game, what kind of what kind of final score do you call here? Jeremy Spencer: Final score? Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I want a final score for the game tomorrow night. I wanna see. Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: It's always it doesn't matter w the leafs and the halves for whatever reason are always pretty good games, no matter where each one of them's in the standings. They play each other pretty good all the time. But I I'm gonna have to say that the game one is a four two Habs win. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Four or two high and it's where? In Toronto, right? Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Four two. It's not in Toronto. Chuck Atkinson: In Toronto. Jeremy Spencer: It's not gonna be an overtime game. It's gonna be it's gonna be a four two game. We'll see what Yeah, they're gonna they're gonna Chuck Atkinson: All right, our listeners are really gonna love that. Our listeners are really gonna love that for two. Jeremy Spencer: I'm gonna Yeah. But Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: anyway, I'm expecting I'm expecting a good game. And then the habs are off for like a we don't play again till like Saturday. So it's kinda like Woo, season starts and then it's like but Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, yeah, big high. Then alright, now we gotta wait to play for a week. Well, not exactly, but yeah, that's five days, four days, that's a little long of a layoff after your first game. Jeremy Spencer: And and and with us, we've got like we just made some hard calls too. We just sent down you know, one of our best defensive prospects and David Rheinbacker. He didn't make the cut. we just Jacob Fowler, we're all wondering Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: what was gonna happen there. Jacob Fowler is going back to the AHL because he's got a two way contract. Montabeau came back to camp and looked like his old self. He had a horrible year last year, but he he looks like he can be a backup and he he he was great. So we'll see what happens. But Dobush is gonna get the Chuck Atkinson: And and and that's right. Jeremy Spencer: yeah, Dobish is gonna get the the nod for I think the starter to start the year and Montembeau's going to back him up and we're gonna let Fowler brew in the AHL for a little bit longer until I suspect that they're gonna try and trade Monty at some point. And but if he gets off to a good start and plays some good games for us, you know, a few months Fowler plays in the AHL, gets his starts and gets lots of games under him. Move Monty in some parts y for that second line center the Habs have been dreaming about. So Chuck Atkinson: There you go. There's a there's a hey the wings need a goaltender. We need it we pick up a goaltender every year. So we'll take them on. You Jeremy Spencer: We don't want Dylan Larkin. No. Chuck Atkinson: have have the larkin, man. You need the larkin. Jeremy Spencer: We don't want Larkin. You can get you can keep Larkin. You can keep him. He already told us he don't want us. We're we're not Chuck Atkinson: We don't want the larkin. We don't want the larkin. Jeremy Spencer: on his list. That's a you you demand a trade and put three teams on the list you go to. Like really that's not gonna get yourself very far very fast. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, and I think we touched on this before in in past in past talk there is that they wanna what get the the band back together down in Florida for the Panthers. You know, Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, that's right. Chuck Atkinson: the Beatles, whatever they wanna call themselves. yeah, what a clown car that is. Jeremy Spencer: But watch what's gonna happen with Talibuck, he's not gonna play. Well, the Jets I think Chuck Atkinson: Well, that's Jeremy Spencer: suspended him, so they're they're just they're gonna they're trying to move Chuck Atkinson: But they're in their right. Jeremy Spencer: him, but they're not gonna they're not gonna move and try and and destroy Chuck Atkinson: Sell low. Jeremy Spencer: the franchise for years. They're just gonna tell him to Chuck Atkinson: No, you're not gonna sell low on him. No. Jeremy Spencer: No, he'll just you that's if that's what you feel, none of the players want him back in the dress room, so he can't really play. So that's I don't think that's the situation. And I think that's sort of the situation with Larkin, but he's playing. Like how awkward is that? Like get this guy traded out of town. Like he's in the he's playing. Chuck Atkinson: Well, I think that was more of a situ I I believe and I feel that this would be more of a situation where I think he had an issue with the general manager, Steve Iserman, than the than then so more than the franchise Jeremy Spencer: There's something there that he's not able to tell us or doesn't want to tell us. Chuck Atkinson: itself and the team and the players. he doesn't have Jeremy Spencer: No, I I do take that back. Hellbuck's situation and Larkin's are are different but the same. But Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. They're the their goal's the same. Their goal is the same in the end. They both want to play in Florida. Let's get it real. Let's get it real. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, but they're diff I think they're different. Hallibucks two years into an eight year deal just being a a baby trying to walk away from a contract he signed. Chuck Atkinson: Well, Larkin is Larkin is three years into a deal. A long term deal. So we're Jeremy Spencer: Yep. But something happened. I don't think anything specific happened in Winnipeg. Hellebuck just decided that he wanted to go after committing to the team. Chuck Atkinson: Well, I think with with Larkin, I think it's just a matter of, you know, I'm tired of losing. maybe there's some miscommunication going on with Stevie Iserman, promises of this, that, and other. we're gonna get players X, Y, and Z to help out the franchise. We're gonna make some moves, perhaps. but just as every year though, the Red Wings slow roll it and they pay for it in the last week of the season. They come up this close. For ten years, they've come up this close. Just to make in the playoffs. Never mind the finals or anything. Grandeur of that. Haven't done any good with it. Right. Yeah, that's exactly Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, and then just and haven't got any good haven't got any good draft picks and yeah. Chuck Atkinson: the most important thing. You you've you guys have Jeremy Spencer: Well Chuck Atkinson: just done things the perfect way in Montreal as far as general manager ownership, GM, down to the players. Jeremy Spencer: We we lived like that for a long time as Habs fans, man. In mediocrity. Just Yeah, man, after we won Chuck Atkinson: No you didn't. You didn't. You did not. Jeremy Spencer: in ninety three, we went to shit for a bunch of years, and then after that we've had pretty good teams where we're just we're good enough to make the playoffs, but not good enough to win. Just we had some good ups and downs. Like we Chuck Atkinson: Well, wouldn't you rather be in that situ wouldn't you rather be in that situation than not be in the situation at all or in the dance at all? Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, yeah. We were always in the situation. We were always there. But like Chuck Atkinson: That's what I mean. Jeremy Spencer: think about Price. Like Price played on a on some really good teams, but not any great teams. Like e if Price was on a team like we had right now, they'd have won three cups. He's never had he Chuck Atkinson: absolutely. Jeremy Spencer: never had that. They had good teams. You know. They got on some runs. It was exciting. It's not like there was it was a horrible time when Price was there. I mean we we had winning records. We were they were good hockey teams. But Chuck Atkinson: not by any stretch. But you know, the the offensive skill, the game has changed as well, how it's evolved and and and and what's been going on in actual game play over the last fifteen, twenty years from when he started, ended his career, even over the last ten years. Really, when was the last time Kerry Price played hockey? Ten years ago? Jeremy Spencer: No no. He went to the cup Chuck Atkinson: It's been a while. Jeremy Spencer: finals and went to the cup finals in twenty one with him and Weber. They Chuck Atkinson: Twenty one. In twenty well, it must have been twenty twenty one, not twenty Jeremy Spencer: Five years ago. Chuck Atkinson: one, twenty two. Jeremy Spencer: I don't remember whatever Chuck Atkinson: Right. Jeremy Spencer: year whatever year the the they were coming out of the bubble and we they were just allowed a little bit of fans into the arena and as the playoffs went on Chuck Atkinson: So it must have been twenty twenty one, yeah. Yeah, twenty twenty one. So that's over half a dec half a decade ago, yeah. So it's been a minute since both the both of those guys Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. And stuff like that, so five years ago. He hasn't played since then. Chuck Atkinson: both of those it's been so long that both of those guys have since retired, been traded their contracts to other organizations to pump up their bottom line floor to Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: to meet the the cap floor. And same thing with that too. Jeremy Spencer: Price both Price and Weber's contracts are done now. Yeah. Weber's Price's Chuck Atkinson: yeah, Jeremy Spencer: contract ended last year. He's done. He's officially retired. Yep. Chuck Atkinson: Officially retired now, okay. Jeremy Spencer: Yep. So Chuck Atkinson: So we can now get the the NHL pension officially. All right. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, and come work for the Habs. Chuck Atkinson: Hey, listen, it when it comes to goalie situations, I've never seen a team come up with, you know, smelling roses more than the Habs have over the last thirty years. Whether it's Patrick Waugh, Carrie Price. Jeremy Spencer: Man, we get some good ones. We get some good ones. Chuck Atkinson: I mean, if this hot piece of garbage right now that you have turns out to be a superstar, so be it. this dope. Jeremy Spencer: We got two possible superstars on our hands when it comes to goalies, with both Dobish and Fowler. I think Fowler is more of a sure shot than Dobish and and Dobish is really good. So Chuck Atkinson: What the the good thing is you have the known in Dobish because he's already shown and produced. So that's a plus. As a hab as a as a r as a Wings fan, Jeremy Spencer: Fowler's one everywhere he goes. He's highly, highly Chuck Atkinson: as a Wings fan, we've drafted a goalie in the few in the first round over the last few years. And that you know, they've that's the one position out of all hockey, I think, where it's the the most difficult to Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: gain traction and become what you're supposed to be, a a true number one goaltender. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: it it's just a herd Jeremy Spencer: Well, the Habs Chuck Atkinson: her position to master. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. And if if you re recall, the Habs basically have kind of found themselves in a very similar situation they found themselves into with Carrie Price. And at that time it was Yaroslav Halak. Remember Halak Mania? They took him to the conference final Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. That's right. Jeremy Spencer: the year and then everybody's like, We want to keep Halak and it was a whole split scene on the Habs fans between who they wanted to keep. They kept the right guy. and but Halak went on Chuck Atkinson: yeah. I mean Jeremy Spencer: to have a really good career. He was a good goalie. Chuck Atkinson: Absolutely. He had a fantastic Jeremy Spencer: But he wasn't Carrie Price. Chuck Atkinson: well, yeah, fan no, Halak was he played awesome with Carolina for a number of years there as well. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, and he played good with St. Louis. Halak is a solid goal. You played in the NHL for like fourteen years too. I he just recently tired in the last couple of years. So but they had that problem and the Habs Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, and and to me, that's those are guys. Jeremy Spencer: the Habs are gonna have that problem, it looks like again with Dobish and Fowler. However, the league's different. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: They don't play sixty games and twenty two games. You know, like it's you if you could Chuck Atkinson: And that's it's Jeremy Spencer: have a Dobish and a Fowler on your team the same time and they both play one plays fifty and the other guy plays thirty five or four thirty f you know it's that's an advantage. So I don't know how long I I think that's I think that's our plan. We don't and then there's these rumors going around saying the Halbeck would play for the halves. It's like please like we need another friggin' ten plus million dollar goalie on our team. That we just went through that. Price was awesome but that's a big contract to have to swallow and and and Dobish in one year has done more than Halibuck has ever done in his whole career in the playoffs. Hellebuck hasn't gotten out of a first round in the playoffs. Chuck Atkinson: Well I don't know. I don't know about that. I don't know about that. Winnipeg says. Jeremy Spencer: Well he has. It's just facts. Dobish is in the conference final. Hellibucks like won one round. So Chuck Atkinson: zr they've only gone one round with Winnipeg. I thought they've gone to at least second or third round. No? Jeremy Spencer: Go look how many No. No. Hello Black. How many play rounds of ha Chuck Atkinson: I thought there was a year or two where they went to the third round, to the conference finals, no? I I I'm not like I said, I'm not this numbers guy, stats guy with the Hawkeye. I know they've made the playoffs pretty consistently over the last fifteen, twenty years. but Yeah, no, it's we'll see though. It's Jeremy Spencer: It's Chuck Atkinson: you know, hockey season's coming right around the corner, so Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. No, that's getting exciting. You what do you what are your predictions? y if I give you like what do you who who's gonna come Chuck Atkinson: c well yeah I g Jeremy Spencer: out of the Atlantic Division? Well let's actually let's leave the Atlantic division for last since that's that's a good division. Let's go over let's go over in the Western Conference. Chuck Atkinson: That's both of our Okay. Let's start. Yep. Jeremy Spencer: Okay. And Okay, I apologize. Chuck Atkinson: So yeah, let's do a yeah, let's do a little rapid fire, sure. Jeremy Spencer: Con just before w just before I move on, I'm gonna I'm I'm gonna apologize for one thing. Hallebuck has won four playoff rounds. Sorry. but not all in n Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Three of them are probably in one year. Jeremy Spencer: but but not all no, not not at all. He in twenty five he beat St. Louis. In twenty one they beat Edmonton. And in twenty eighteen they did go to the conference f to the division final, beat Minnesota and Nashville. So Chuck Atkinson: Still, you know, it's team team sport. you're not always guaranteed to go to the finals. You're Jeremy Spencer: A hundred percent. Chuck Atkinson: not always guaranteed to win the Super Bowl. look at Dan Marino. Jeremy Spencer: That's what I said about Price when people say that he has never won a Stanley Cup. He's won everything but and he just wasn't in the right place at the right time to win the cup. It was very, very close a couple of times. Chuck Atkinson: Dan Marino, one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. Went Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: to one Super Bowl in his what, rookie year, second year, another seventeen years thereafter. Still doing great things. Never sniffed it again. So yeah, he it's Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. But Chuck Atkinson: it's it's luck. Jeremy Spencer: but Price won the Calder trophy in the AHL. They won the championship there. He won Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: gold for Team Canada in both world juniors and in the men's. You know. They won everything else. Chuck Atkinson: Yep. hey, d dep definitely successful career. Absolutely. Absolutely. Jeremy Spencer: So s so let's let's go. Let's let's just take a quick little run through some predictions for the year for Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, sure. Jeremy Spencer: NHL standings. Let's start out in the West Coast in the central division. So Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Okay. Jeremy Spencer: between here I'll I'll run down what they finished last year. So standings in the cent Chuck Atkinson: Not even, not even. You know what? Last year don't matter. Just give me the teams and I'll give you my answers. Jeremy Spencer: Okay, in no particular order in the central division you've got Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: the Blackhawks, Jets, Predators, Blues, Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Okay. Okay. Jeremy Spencer: Mammoth, Wild Stars and Avalanche. Chuck Atkinson: Avalanche. It'll Jeremy Spencer: So Chuck Atkinson: be close. The mammoth are gonna be second. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. So you've got Chuck Atkinson: What do you think? Jeremy Spencer: da you've got Colorado one, Mammoth two. Wanna give me a third? Chuck Atkinson: No. Jeremy Spencer: We got Dallas, Minnesota. Preds, Winnipeg, and Blackhawks. Chuck Atkinson: No, I'm Jeremy Spencer: You gonna stick with two? Okay, so Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, this is the yes, go top two. Jeremy Spencer: Alright. Well my predictions for that division is Mammoth One. Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: Dallas two. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Jeremy Spencer: And Colorado three. Chuck Atkinson: Ooh. Okay. Jeremy Spencer: That's that's my that's my prediction. Whether it I don't know why. Well, I do know why. The the Utah Mammoth, I'm telling ya, that team is gonna be that team's just a a a good up and coming team. They're a team similar to the Habs. They're young. They've been getting good. They were getting they were getting better when they were in in Arizona at the end. They just had to play in a little tiny arena and everything sucked. Now they have a place to play. Dylan Gunther, Clayton Keller. There's a there's a good group of guys there. I think it's Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, good core. Jeremy Spencer: Varlamoffs or goalie. What's that? Yeah. So anyway, I think they got a young group of guys and they've got a good shot. So I I've got them number one. And Dallas and and Colorado are gonna fight it out for two and three. Also the Minnesota Wild are in there. They're a very good team. And last year they've it's their last year with Quinn Hughes. So if they're gonna do anything. This is the year they gotta do it 'cause I think Quinn's on the way out. 'Cause that's another reunion that's trying to happen somewhere, is all the Hughes brothers wanna play together. So Quinn Hughes not signed another contract 'cause Jack Hughes is still under contract for three more years. So that's another saga that's taking place. I hate that stuff. I just it's like guys, just play where these people are paying you the money and the fans are coming out to see ya. Chuck Atkinson: No, I agree. You signed the contract. Jeremy Spencer: Anyway, so that's so so that's that's our Western Conference predictions for the for the Central Division, the Paci Pacific Division, you you've got the Golden Knights, the Oilers, the Ducks, the Kings, the Sharks, Kraken, Flames and Canucks. What what are your thoughts there? Chuck Atkinson: I'll give you the division winner, the cr Vegas Knights. Jeremy Spencer: Vegas Knights. That that would be yeah, the a repeat from last year. Vegas Te Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: Mitch Murner leading mm Mitch Murner leading the way. Full year of Mitch Murner. Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: Who's number two? Chuck Atkinson: Don't matter. Mitch Murner. How about Jeremy Spencer: Don't it don't matter. Chuck Atkinson: that, Lee fans? Mitch Murner. How do you like him now? Successful hockey player. Successful hockey player. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Well Chuck Atkinson: You leave the you leave the T dot and you get good. What can you say? Maybe Vladdy should leave Toronto. Jeremy Spencer: That's hilarious. Yeah. And the leaves what happened to the leaves? What happened to the leaves? They sucked. Anyway, there's an opinion they may have traded the Chuck Atkinson: No, they sucked. They sucked, what can you say? Who do you got for who Jeremy Spencer: wrong fella. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Who do you get for a division winner? Jeremy Spencer: In that division, this division's kind of fun 'cause there's a couple teams in this division that I really I really like and they're fun to fun to pay attention to and watch. And it the the Sharks and and the Ducks are both real they're they're they're like Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Very Jeremy Spencer: another there there's like a few teams in NHL that that are rolling like the Habs right now and are just putting together these teams with young talented doggy players that Chuck Atkinson: Sharks. Jeremy Spencer: are on the verge of changing things around. The landscape of the NHL is gonna look a little different over here because I think right now Vegas is probably the best team. The Oilers w under Mike Babcock, totally different story. That team, I I don't even think they're making the playoffs. But that's that's my that's my look at that. Chuck Atkinson: You don't think they're making the playoffs? Jeremy Spencer: they're not making the playoffs. That team's gonna be in turmoil by like February. Chuck Atkinson: You think it's gonna take that long? Jeremy Spencer: It's gonna be a mess. But it it's just look Chuck Atkinson: You know what? Let's get Johan Franzen. Let's get Johan Franzen on the line. Ask him what he thinks about Mike Babcock. Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, well ask Aaron Ward. I was listening to Aaron Ward talk about him the other day too and the whole the yeah. Chuck Atkinson: Or Mitch Murner. Jeremy Spencer: Babcock tried to have Aaron Ward fired from TSN once when he became an analyst. Didn't like what he was saying in Toronto. But but the the Babcock is the thing is the the big guys in the dressing room in Edmonton, they wanted this. Like Hyman and McDavid and and dry side all they all wanted accountability and they wanted a coach that was gonna do that. But Chuck Atkinson: gl I'm glad you brought that up because you know what at the end of the day it's not gonna fall back on Mike Babcock if when not if but when this all goes so sour and sideways. It's Jeremy Spencer: It's gonna implode. Chuck Atkinson: it's gonna fall back on McDavid and drive settle because for some idiotic reason for some Jeremy Spencer: Yep. And guess w but not but it but in a but it Chuck Atkinson: they they the GM Stan Bowman empowered both of these players to interview him to see if he was the right fit for the team. Okay, to see if he was the right fit for what they needed. No players, no players should be in charge of or making decisions on what coaches get hired on to be the coach of an organization. That there becomes an issue because when that goes sour, and it will, when they go on a slump or they don't win five in a row, or when they lose ten in a row, or they miss the playoffs, like you're predicting, who you think it's gonna fall back on? Not Mike Babcock anymore. It wasn't him though it wasn't him that said, Hey, gimme Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. But the funny thing is it's not gonna it's not gonna matter. Chuck Atkinson: the frickin' job. He wasn't the one screaming to the mountaintops, gimme the job Nebenton. Jeremy Spencer: But but the risk wasn't Connor's. The risk wasn't Connor McDavid's. The risk was Edmonton's. Chuck Atkinson: Well, it is. Jeremy Spencer: Because what's gonna happen is is it's gonna go south. Connor McDavid's gonna bail, and they'll have Chuck Atkinson: And he's gonna go south. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, because Connor's got the cards. He's gonna got a year left in this deal, I think, and and he he wants to win. So I understand why they brought him there. But what the thing is is and a lot of the other players, there's a lot of players on a hockey team. Chuck Atkinson: Noblock. Noblock should be the coach. Jeremy Spencer: There's there but there. There's a lot of players on the hockey team Chuck Atkinson: You want to blame the same issues every year. You want to talk about Toronto being Suckville and running into the same wall over and over again with the same players over and over again and not doing anything majorly different. Look what Edmonton's doing. They're doing the exact same thing, it's just on the West Coast. We're just not talking about it as much because they're on later at night. It's the same core of players every year Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: the Hyman's, the Dry Sidles, the McDavid's. the nurses, and what do they trot out? A a high scoring team that scores six goals, but when it comes down to Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, with no goaltending. Chuck Atkinson: it, they allow seven goals. They're fun to watch. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. But what I was trying to say what I was trying to say, not just take the the all nice stuff off of it Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: away from it when i like those big hockey those players wanted this. So the other guys on the there's a lot of players on the hockey team, so the other guys aren't gonna openly go, No, I don't really want this I don't really want Babcock to coach us. 'Cause they're they're the nameless guys on the team. The the the the stars want this to happen, so they're gonna go along with it until it starts to Fucking go south and then you're gonna have a rift in the in the and then you're gonna have two sides in the dressing room. You're gonna have the babcock Chuck Atkinson: Well Jeremy Spencer: side and you're gonna have the not babcock side. And then that's that's just that's a problem. Chuck Atkinson: And then you throw and then you throw into it this player now. I don't even know this kid's name. let's call him Mr. Irrelevant because that's exactly what he is. Mr. Irrelevant. This player that they brought in. that was part of this the the Hockey Canada scandal from a couple of years ago, with the young woman in the hotel room and them taking pictures and you know, all that nonsense that these guys were up to. And so so now Jeremy Spencer: That was Vegas Vegas brought him in. Chuck Atkinson: they bring in this guy. who they go to, I think Bouchard, his buddy, and say, Can we bring him in? Do you think he's a good guy for the group? Why are you going to players to help make your decisions? You're you're the you're the coach, you're the GM, you're the owner. Look out for what's best for your Jeremy Spencer: While good organizations do. Chuck Atkinson: not only for your team, but your fan base, and not only that, the the morality of your organization. It starts, you know, it started with Babcock. Jeremy Spencer: That's true, but good or Chuck Atkinson: All right, let's work past it. And then Let's hire this, let's bring in this other kid who's just gonna bring in noise. Such noise where I think what there's I don't know if I'm right or not on this one here. Correct me. I'm probably off by a zero. It's either fifty thousand or five hundred thousand petitions, signed petitions to have this guy removed from the team. Fans don't want him. Great way to start the year. Coach people don't want a player you don't want on the team. Let's have a great year, Oilers. I'm with you though. Hot take, Oilers aren't making the playoffs. You bring bad, bad mojo, Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, they're not making the playoffs. Chuck Atkinson: you bring bad mojo and you're gonna get it drawn on you. Jeremy Spencer: That that's what I figure's gonna happen with Edmonton. So anyway, so the end of the day, I like I like the Ducks to win the division. It's a surprise Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: division winner. with the Knights and the Sharks a close second and third. That's that's how I'm feeling about that. I think Los Angeles probably gonna take a little step back. I don't know. They're they they they lost Copatar. Not you can't be the same after you lose a guy like Copatar. So Chuck Atkinson: No, no. Well, I mean they do have Panera, right? Jeremy Spencer: Right. so I I think they'll take a step back too. now back to the Eastern Conference. So in the Metropolitan Division, we've got Carolina, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington, Columbus, New York, Islanders, the Devils, and the Rangers. Who do you like over there? Chuck Atkinson: I'm I'm a Carolina guy. I like them. I like what they do. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. They had a really good team. They really they really slowed the habs down in the playoffs. they're not exciting. They're but Chuck Atkinson: No, no, but they remind me of the devils from back in the day though. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Well exactly. They're the devils. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: But and they're gonna they're gonna be raiding it again for sure. So if you like if you like Carolina last year the the Penguins finished second somehow and I can't see them doing that. I'm actually hoping the Penguins aren't gonna finish that well and then the Habs can make a little play for Crosby at the end of the year. Help our Stanley Cup playoff run that. Chuck Atkinson: Always wishful thinking on the Havs Fan. Jeremy Spencer: yes. But the halves are poised for a big move. Something like that's gonna something like that's coming. I don't know if it's Crosby, but But I think in Chuck Atkinson: All right. So what do you think of that division? Jeremy Spencer: that division I I'm I'm I'm basically going with Carolina as well. And and and the the capitals. always back They brought in some guys to to try and keep that going a little bit longer to keep OV back for one more year. Logan Thompson's a great goalie. So that that's gonna be a a good team over in Washington. So I d the Devils should be better. they've got Jack Hughes, they've got a good hockey team over there, but they just d never seem to get better. So I don't have them being that high. I I figure probably fourth. So it's Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Jeremy Spencer: a crapshoot the rest of them. I mean the Rangers, the Islanders, Blue Jackets, maybe they'll be good, maybe they won't. Like that division's weird. N none of them are really that good. That other than Carolina. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, it's yeah, you're right. I mean a anything below that could happen. Jeremy Spencer: They're all aging teams that are could be good. But except for the Rangers, the Rangers couldn't they're not gonna be good. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: And then and then you've got the Atlantic division, which is of course my favorite division in hockey. But what the heck is happening? Did you hear any of that? Chuck Atkinson: No, not at all. Jeremy Spencer: Music started playing in my headphone. It was weird. Anyway, Atlantic Division. Chuck Atkinson: So this is this is where this is w this is where Jerry's gonna go off the board with his pick now for his for this division, right? Jeremy Spencer: Nobody's gonna expect what's gonna happen in this. nobody'll expect my who who's gonna win be in first. But I'm gonna give you the whole division, the way that's gonna finish. And and we all know, Chuck Atkinson: Okay. All right, from last to first. I want to hear it. Jeremy Spencer: like, so we we're we'll just bring it Florida won two Stanley Cups in a row prior to last year, right? And then they stunk last year. They they they they they dipped them in the least for the two bottom teams. Everybody says, Chuck Atkinson: Surprisingly somehow. Jeremy Spencer: they got Brady Kachuk now. they're gonna be they're gonna be first place again 'cause they're healthy and and stuff. Anyway, I I they're just a bunch of goons really. And Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, that's true. Jeremy Spencer: I'm not sure I'm not sure that they're as great as I mean they were great, don't get me wrong. They won they won back to back cups. They're but I think with the Kachuk's a lot of things is up in their head. Like they they they've won things now. They're they're they've turned to complete idiots. They're they're gonna drag the rest of the team down. Marshawn is tame compared Chuck Atkinson: Well, I mean they they were always complete idiots. They just started winning. Jeremy Spencer: to these morons. So Chuck Atkinson: All right. So who do you think's gonna win the division then? Jeremy Spencer: So yep, so we got let's let's go. Habs winning the division. Surprised. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Surprise. Jeremy Spencer: But that's a legit spot. I'm putting the Habs. Chuck Atkinson: No, I I I like that. Yeah, it's in a good pick. Jeremy Spencer: Okay, so we've got the Habs. up next you've got Tampa Bay Lightning. Always there. Seem to be always a great team. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Consistent. Consistent, yep. Jeremy Spencer: last year the Sabres won the division. The Sabres are were a much improved team. I don't know that they're division winner quality year after year. So I'm going Habs, Lightning, Sabres. Okay. Then I'm gonna go with the Florida Panthers in five. 'Cause Chuck Atkinson: Okay. Jeremy Spencer: I think they're probably gonna make the playoffs as a wild card. And then that's where they could do damage in the is in the playoffs. But I don't I really don't think that that's I don't think that's what they're gonna do this year. I everybody's like, they're back to number one. Well it's gonna be tough for them. They're gonna get in. But there's a lot of really skilled and Chuck Atkinson: Well, they're Jeremy Spencer: really fast teams in this division that can take them to task. Chuck Atkinson: Absolutely. Absolutely. They're they're a year aged as well, but they've also had Jeremy Spencer: The Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: a year off from the playoffs, so that might have done some benefits. Jeremy Spencer: They're they're rough and nasty, but Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, yeah. Jeremy Spencer: the Buffalo Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning. They're just and and even the Leafs to the a little like to me they're nah, not the Leafs. But the other teams Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: are pretty fast and skilled. and then so so you're gonna have like you're gonna have the Habs, the Lightning, the Sabres. and then probably in there we're gonna throw either the the Panthers at four or the Sens at four. They're gonna fight it out. I'm not convinced in the Sens either. Like this is where it starts to get blurry for me. the Sens are supposed to move, take steps forward. The Red Wings are the Red Wings, and they're supposed to always Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: be a little better every year, but we're not convinced that nobody's convinced here that the Red Wings are gonna be much different than they were last year. They finished Sixth in the division. But Chuck Atkinson: You y you ever hear the expression you are who you are and show me otherwise then I'll believe it? Well, the Red Wings aren't who they are and show me until and then I'll believe it. Jeremy Spencer: Well, I don't and you guys really did nothing to change at all this year. I don't r there's there I don't think there were Chuck Atkinson: No, we have a part time general manager. Jeremy Spencer: any real major moves done. So you're you're basically putting back the same team that you left with last year with a disgruntled captain. So we'll we'll see where that goes. Chuck Atkinson: X X hey hey X Captain thank you very much. Jeremy Spencer: Disgruntled ex captain, that's right. And the Leafs, I mean, everybody thinks the Leafs are back, but I I don't think the Leaf I I think hot take, Chuck Atkinson: We'll see it. Jeremy Spencer: Leafs are second last again. Last. They were last last Chuck Atkinson: Ooh. Ooh. Jeremy Spencer: year. Maybe they move up to second last. Chuck Atkinson: Ooh. do you think the GM or yeah, you think the GM's gonna Jeremy Spencer: I don't think this combination of things works. Chuck Atkinson: Do you think the GM's gonna last all year or is he gonna go to Burger King this time? Jeremy Spencer: I don't know, but like Chuck Atkinson: you know Wendy you know, you you left Wendy's, you can't come back to Wendy's. Now you got you have to go to Burger King or McDonald's. Sorry, can't have you back. You messed up you messed up my my cheeseburgers. Jeremy Spencer: I mean they signed They signed Darren Radish, for example, okay? Career Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: he had a career year last year. Chuck Atkinson: At what age? Jeremy Spencer: A a cr a career year at the age of thirty. Okay. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. So he's Jeremy Spencer: He's never done really much, but last year the guy put up twenty-two goals and had forty-two assists for 70 points, which was a great year for a defenseman. Okay. Chuck Atkinson: We're at. We're at. Jeremy Spencer: What's that? Radish? Radish was in Tampa Bay. So he was playing in a fantastic Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, where'd he play? Tampa Bay, wasn't it? Well then you're asking a lot from you're asking a lot in Toronto then. Jeremy Spencer: system. You're he's playing in a fantastic system with a fantastic coach, probably John Cooper, love him or hate him. Chuck Atkinson: Mm-hmm. Jeremy Spencer: Gotta be one of the best coaches in NHL history, the way that things have gone in the last ten years with him. He just wins. And Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: so to me And and this is where I I Chuck Atkinson: Twenty point reduction. Jeremy Spencer: got into this with Tyler, like w w ca 'cause Tyler's like super pumped about this. He thinks he got Nick Lidstrom. And I'm like, man, you gotta settle your expectations. Chuck Atkinson: Well, we'll see. We'll see. Jeremy Spencer: No, but it's true. They think that he's gonna change the the trajectory of the Toronto Maple Leafs and d and do you know what they paid him? Well, let's just say he gets paid more than Lane Hudson, Nick Suzuki, Ivan Demodoff, Noah Dobson. they paid this guy eight and a half million dollars a year. And before him having this seventy point season, take me a minute to bring it up, but I I believe when I looked at it, he had like thirty point seasons. Like It this this was like a in a not like not like a few points higher than his highest year. It was his best ever year. So, and he did play well, but again, on on Chuck Atkinson: A good team. Jeremy Spencer: on a really good team. Like, here's his stats. Yeah. So with Tampa Bay, 82 games, six goals, 27 assists for 33 points. Steady guy. He was plu minus three that year, actually, sorry. on the Lightning. the next year he had Seventy-three games played, six goals, thirty-one assists, thirty-seven points on the year. And last year he jumped to twenty-two goals, forty-eight assists, and seventy points. And he's thirty years old. He's not twenty-three or four. Just like he's So they're getting a good hockey player. I'm not saying he's not a good hockey player, but he's not it's just more of the same in Toronto. You know, like he just added a guy that Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. No yeah. Jeremy Spencer: could play hockey. I don't know. Like Chuck Atkinson: Expense expensive guy for thirty points less than Toronto. Jeremy Spencer: Right. Twelve and a half dollar Creole Marchenko. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: Marchenko's good. Twelve and a half like they're Chuck Atkinson: I like these agents. Jeremy Spencer: so Toronto's just not they're not rebuilding and they're not doing they're just kind of stuck in limbo land, just trying to s keep even. And where they really went off the rails was when they traded Mitch when they just let Mitch Mar they just let Mitch Myrna go. They didn't get nothing for Mitch Mart. They just let Mitch Myrna walk. So Chuck Atkinson: That's right. Yeah, he didn't yeah, he played there the whole year last year, didn't he? Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: no, did they make a little deal? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He was there the whole year. Chuck Atkinson: that's right. Jeremy Spencer: there was no deal at the deadline. He stayed, lost with them in the first round of the Chuck Atkinson: That's right. Jeremy Spencer: playoffs and went to Las Vegas. Toronto got something for him for Chuck Atkinson: That's free. I miss I misspoke. I misspoke. Jeremy Spencer: early rights to speak to him. Toronto got like a Chuck Atkinson: That's as well. Jeremy Spencer: sixth round draft pick for letting them talk to Vegas two days early. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, that's what that that's why I'd confuse Area. I knew there was some sort of transaction. I just misspoke there about the trade. Yeah. Yeah. So who Jeremy Spencer: There was something involved, it wasn't very much, but but yeah, so I think that's where everything went wrong. And the leafs are gonna have a hard time. Chuck Atkinson: So so now who do you think's gonna win the who's gonna be in the finals for each conference? Jeremy Spencer: In the finals for each conference? Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, who's gonna be eating the cup? Jeremy Spencer: So in in the in the Western Conference, how do you like how do you how do you like this? Utah, Anaheim, conference final. Chuck Atkinson: Okay. I like it. Jeremy Spencer: Wow, that that would be off the charts. I don't think anybody would see Chuck Atkinson: Okay, you know. Jeremy Spencer: that coming. Chuck Atkinson: So of those two, who are you picking? Jeremy Spencer: of those two, I'm gonna go with Utah. I like the I like the Ducks. Chuck Atkinson: All right. Yeah, Utah. Jeremy Spencer: But Utah's a little more a little more seasoned, a little more they're coming right into their they're a year or two maybe ahead of, say, the Anaheim team, but Anaheim's really good. Although what I I Chuck Atkinson: All right. Jeremy Spencer: what I don't like about Anaheim is their s seventeen million dollar Leo Carlson situation they've got themselves into. But right now they've got they've got a lot of skill on that team. Chuck Atkinson: All right, so you got Utah coming out of the west. Who you got in the in the east then? Jeremy Spencer: S so in the east, I'm going to Habs hurricanes again in the in the conference final. Yeah, this Chuck Atkinson: Absurricanes. All right. Jeremy Spencer: time this time the Habs are gonna overcome the hurricanes and find themselves in the Stanley Cup final against the Utah Mammoth. Chuck Atkinson: Against the mammoth. And for our our listeners out there, who's gonna take it home? Jeremy Spencer: the halves. Chuck Atkinson: You heard it here first. Not only is this the year of the fleas, it's the year of the hats. breaking news, breaking news. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah, that's why we're rockin' the Hives jersey. Chuck Atkinson: Somebody get Wolf Blitzer. Jeremy Spencer: Well you know, part of the fun is believing. And I I've you know me Chuck, how long I've been a Habs fan Chuck Atkinson: Ha ha. Jeremy Spencer: forever and ever and ever, dude. And it's just it's been a long time since any Canadian Chuck Atkinson: If you're not yeah, if you're not cheering hard enough your team. Jeremy Spencer: teams won since we've since we've won. I I wanna see us I wanna see us win and I feel like we're close. I feel like it's coming right on soon and I feel like the Habs are like one deal. Which we set ourselves up to be able to make this year at the deadline. We've got prospects, we've got picks, we've got roster players, we've got three goalies. and we're gonna have cap room at the deadline. So I don't know what that means, but Chuck Atkinson: Button good. Jeremy Spencer: there's gonna be teams that have found themselves in a bad spot and out of the playoffs that have superstars. And Chuck Atkinson: yeah. Every year. Jeremy Spencer: I'd really like to see Pittsburgh be one of those teams. Crosby has not Chuck Atkinson: No. Jeremy Spencer: re upped for next year. He's not a guy that would walk away on a contract. So I know that he's a honorable dude. And if he was signed for three more years with Pittsburgh, he'd be there for three more years with Pittsburgh. But his contract Chuck Atkinson: yeah. He's retiring, Pittsburgh. Jeremy Spencer: is up this year. And he doesn't look like he's gonna retire anytime soon. The guy's still putting up ninety points, hundred points a year. you know, how Chuck Atkinson: No, he's he's definitely gonna retire pizza. Jeremy Spencer: I mean, it just I know I'm crazy 'cause I'm a Habs fan, but honestly, like what would like Crosby by his own admission was grew up a Habs fan. Like what kind of legacy would that lead? He's already l built himself a gold statue in Pittsburgh. That's coming. Chuck Atkinson: yeah. Jeremy Spencer: We all like right. He's going right there with Mario. Like if he went to the Habs for two years, that's not gonna change his legacy in Pittsburgh to me. But what it would do though is there's records to be still broken and he's breaking records for the last couple of years of his career as a hab. Winning a cup as a hab possibly. I mean, man, that would just be pandemonium. It w it it is. It is, but you gotta have Christmas wish Chuck Atkinson: Wishful thinking, folks. This is what Christ this is what Christmas season does to people. It makes them crazy. Jeremy Spencer: lists. And that, my friend, is is is what is on the top of my wish list. So Sydney You know, we're not asking you to turn your back on your penguins, but If a bad season is happening, we know you've got a couple of good ones left and we got some good hockey players for you to play with. Chuck Atkinson: Save the good stuff for Montreal he saying. Save the good stuff for Montreal he saying. Jeremy Spencer: Yep, we've got some good hockey players. I mean, Crosby with Demi Doff and man. Just think about it. I'm dreaming right now. Chuck Atkinson: All right. He's he's folks, he's drinking he's Jeremy's yeah he's drinking already. He's he's drinking already. Jeremy Spencer: So anyway, we're excited for Chuck Atkinson: Let's get Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: the NHL hockey season to start. We better wrap this up. We've been going and going and going. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah. This is what hockey and football and sports talk does to you, folks. yeah. Jeremy Spencer: We didn't even w and and it's already long. We gotta talk about another one thing. The the just the last game of the Jays and how w what did you think of that? And how did what did you think of George Chuck Atkinson: Well Jeremy Spencer: Springer's exit? What do you think of Max Scherzer, my favorite dude on the Jays? And it was so disappointing and disheartening the last week. That game really it made it made me feel a little better. Not about how Vlad he played, but it made me feel better. Those two guys I got the utmost respect for, man, Springer and and Scherzer have been awesome Jays. So it was good. Chuck Atkinson: Yeah, no, it was it's a happy ending to a sad season. Happy ending to a sad season. seeing them go out the right way, their way. Unfortunately not the playoff way, but you don't always get what you want. especially in sports. It's it's all but the experience, the teamwork, the camaraderie. but those guys are absolute pros. wasn't a fan of George, but when we signed him, became a b fan of his throughout his career though in in Toronto. And Max Max is Jeremy Spencer: No, and he just he he just won the fans over. Chuck Atkinson: yep, just did things the right way. You know, great teammate. Showed up, played hurt. And having Max for a couple of years, listen, if if there's a a blueprint for a ball player, yeah it's Max Scherzer. That's that's the guy right there. So a lot more a lot more Jeremy Spencer: Huh. Yeah. Man, man. And it Chuck Atkinson: players should take after him and watch how he did things and does things. Jeremy Spencer: Just an extremely Chuck Atkinson: That's that's Jeremy Spencer: likable guy that is so fiery and such a and he just loved Toronto. To me, that's really cool. A lot of people don't have the time a day to come and don't want nothing to do with coming to play baseball in Canada. Chuck Atkinson: With the city they're in, yeah. Yeah. Jeremy Spencer: And and and Scherzer didn't have to say any of the stuff he said. Like he the last two years he's said he's loved it and he means it. You can tell. Like It's it's cool. Chuck Atkinson: yeah, absolutely. Just watching him man. You know, just watching him pla play ball, watching him pitch the emotion he shows, the the the emotion and the the reaction the crowd gives him and he gives back. yeah, he's absolutely spectacular. And hey, listen, he hasn't said he's gonna retire. Fingers crossed he doesn't and he comes back for one more year. I Jeremy Spencer: No. I'd bring back again. Chuck Atkinson: I I I want him back for two more years, three more years. but let's see how the off season unfolds and hopefully Jeremy Spencer: I'd bring him back. He doesn't ha Chuck Atkinson: Hopefully there's no strike, so we'll see about what happens though. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. You're not bringing them back as your n you know, your top four guys or nothing. You're bringing him back as the player coach almost. Chuck Atkinson: no no no you want him as a you want his him as as a five, as a five or a six. A five or a six on your rotation and and that's great. Yep. Jeremy Spencer: Hell hell, you know what? It's really off the board, off the wall, but I would be comfortable getting rid of Snyder and putting Mad Max right in the same chair. Chuck Atkinson: No. anyways, anyways. Jerry's too wound up for hockey season. He's drinking now. He's talking crazy shop. So so on. Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Well, come on, you weren't liking Snyder the other day either. Snyd's is d I don't know that Snyder's got the stuff to get Vladdy back in in Chuck Atkinson: Okay, all right. Let's let's let's wrap that one there. Yeah, I'm not gonna bury Schneid's on Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: I'm not putting anything on on Vladdy on Schneid's shoulders about what Vladdy did this year. So we're gonna cut it right there. Jeremy Spencer: I I love and I like I like John Snyder. Let's before we end it I I'm a big I like I do like John Snyder, but I don't know that he's the next step. Anyway Chuck Atkinson: Absolutely. Hey, listen, Vlad, it's when when when you've been paid for what you did and what not you're gonna what you're not gonna do or what you're supposed Jeremy Spencer: Yeah. Chuck Atkinson: to do in the future, yeah, that's a hot take for another day. So yeah, what do you think, Jared? Well let's wrap it up and you know we'll see our fans again next week and you know more football hockey season will be in full swing. basketball is right around the corner as well. We didn't get a chance to touch on that, but we will next time. And yeah, we'll see what's new in the world of sports. So with that everybody, don't forget to make some comments. We wanna hear some feedback from you all. share, like and subscribe as always. So Jared, with that, you wanna take us out? Jeremy Spencer: yeah, just share, like and subscribe and until next week I will see you then. Go habs go. Chuck Atkinson: All right. Crazy talk. Later. Jeremy Spencer: Mm-hmm.
