- 0:50Guys, what's going on? Welcome back.
- 0:51If you're new around here, I have a free autism Wi-Fi PDF
- 0:54book you can download now from autismhives.net completely free.
- 0:57The link is down below. So sensory processing disorder,
- 1:01what is it? So sensory processing disorder,
- 1:03sometimes called SPD is a form of different types of sensory
- 1:08hyper or hyposensitivities to sensory environments.
- 1:12And this is third party stimuli. So this could be that you are
- 1:16told to different lights. You could be in a, an amusement
- 1:18arcade, a light too bright or flickering and it's really
- 1:21causing you harm. Or there is a, an event going on
- 1:24and the noise is too loud. Even could be walking through a
- 1:26mole and the noise is too loud and and you're making you cover
- 1:29your ears. Now sensory processing disorder
- 1:31comes comorbidly with autism and autism is a neurological
- 1:35developmental condition which actually has a bunch of
- 1:37different things Co occurring. It could be like ADHD, it could
- 1:40be OCD, all kinds of stuff. Now I have sensory processing
- 1:43disorder myself and it is very interesting that mine is like
- 1:47texture and smell based and sound based.
- 1:50But sometimes you can be also hyposensitive.
- 1:52So a person could be less sensitive or more sensitive to
- 1:57something. It's really quite interesting.
- 1:58And sometimes you can have a combination of both.
- 2:01So someone could be like hypersensitive to sound, but
- 2:03hyposensitive to taste. So they could like have to block
- 2:06out loads of sound, even if it's like the, the, the lowest sound
- 2:10ever, like, you know, a mouse sticking of fat in the next room
- 2:13and he could be like really sensitive to that sound.
- 2:14However you can sit and eat like spicy food until the cows come
- 2:17home because it it just effects people on the odds inspection
- 2:21differently. Now up to date I've not really
- 2:23come across many people who have just a sensory processing
- 2:25disorder diagnosis. It's usually Co caring with like
- 2:27autism or ADHD. Now, sensory processing disorder
- 2:31can be very debilitating. And I know for me when I was
- 2:34doing my degree in chemistry, you have to do a bunch of other
- 2:36stuff 1st. And we were analyzing onion skin
- 2:39under a microscope and I remember being in the room with
- 2:43cut onions and I couldn't be there because I'm really
- 2:45sensitive to the smell of onions.
- 2:47I'm really sensitive to the smell of garlic as well.
- 2:50So I can't be in the room with those things, which makes it
- 2:51very difficult for me to cook because how can I cook when
- 2:55they're the basis of pretty much every meal, right?
- 2:57So it's really difficult and it can be very challenging.
- 3:00But that being said, there are so many things to help overcome.
- 3:03I mean, even though life hacked a book that I've linked down
- 3:05below for free, I have some sensory processing hacks in
- 3:08there that will help people who are sent hypersensitive to
- 3:11certain things like, you know, tags on the back of the back of
- 3:14the shirt or even seams, the socks.
- 3:15All those things are substitute processing issues.
- 3:17I'd love to know your opinions and your input on it.
- 3:20Pop in the comment down below. Give this video a share if you
- 3:22think it can help somebody and I'll see you in the next one
