- 0:44Speaker 1: I'm like, uh, what's that when you get like workout innebriated,
- 0:47Speaker 1: when you feel like you're in kneebriated, Because it's called
- 0:50Speaker 1: endorphin high. Yeah, I am endorphed. Good, good shirt feels good.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I did it too today. I can't stay these people
- 1:02Speaker 1: even aren't you aren't even our sponsors. But I gotta
- 1:05Speaker 1: tell you, like, I am loving this fucking bike. I'm
- 1:08Speaker 1: sweating my ass off. I go way harder than I
- 1:12Speaker 1: ever do on my own because they're cheering me on.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I really, I really, I really love it. Yeah, man,
- 1:17Speaker 1: it's uh, it's great. I feel wet right now though. Man,
- 1:21Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like, do you have a whop?
- 1:24Speaker 1: I probably have WOB. You probably have wob wet ass balls? Yeah,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I got, Yeah, I got, I got a sob sweaty
- 1:31Speaker 1: ass balls. I got a sub you have probably what
- 1:38Speaker 1: you have? Ah, that's a sash you have watch wet
- 1:42Speaker 1: ass cheeks. I missed you, missed you. We have so
- 1:51Speaker 1: much to talk about. I mean, I don't even know
- 1:53Speaker 1: where to begin. When we when we do this once
- 1:54Speaker 1: a week, I accumulate all the things I want to
- 1:57Speaker 1: talk to you guys about. There are so many things.
- 2:00Speaker 1: There's so much to talk about. I wanted to talk
- 2:02Speaker 1: about Joelle, your birthday present. She got an Oculus two
- 2:08Speaker 1: from Donald and I. Have you been in the Oculus
- 2:10Speaker 1: two worlds yet? How's that going, Joel? I could tell
- 2:12Speaker 1: it's great. I could tell she's been in the world.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I could tell she smoked a lot of wind, put
- 2:16Speaker 1: the speak and jumps on, the mask on and it's
- 2:19Speaker 1: just been walking around blasting that stormtroopless and flying starships
- 2:23Speaker 1: and ship. How's the Star Wars game Joel? Okay, So
- 2:27Speaker 1: the flight simulator is beautiful, but I suck at flying.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I cannot do it on any game, and in this one,
- 2:35Speaker 1: at one point I was like, I think I'm upside
- 2:37Speaker 1: down and I'm gonna hurl. It's so realistic. You can
- 2:40Speaker 1: look down in your hands or like touching the controls
- 2:42Speaker 1: inside the It's crazy good. Um. The Darth Vader game
- 2:46Speaker 1: is awesome because, like Rogue one, it was the first
- 2:48Speaker 1: thing that like really made Darth Vader scary to me.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Rogue one Darth Vader hallway scene horrifying, and this thing
- 2:54Speaker 1: Darth Vader comes out of the shadows and looks right
- 2:57Speaker 1: up to your face and you're like, you're tall and
- 2:59Speaker 1: very frightening, and it amazing. Beat Saber also great, good
- 3:04Speaker 1: arm workout if you're about that life on the hard setting.
- 3:07Speaker 1: But my favorite far there's the meditation. Yeah really mecause
- 3:14Speaker 1: the free meditation app that comes with it. You can
- 3:17Speaker 1: buy additional like experiences inside. I've only tried the one
- 3:21Speaker 1: it comes with, but it is so freaking trippy. It
- 3:24Speaker 1: asks you to like breathe with it, and like you
- 3:27Speaker 1: breathe in like white sparkles and you breathe out. Oh whoa,
- 3:33Speaker 1: it was great. Somebody told me there's an aftermarket app.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, I mean that there's an app
- 3:40Speaker 1: you get with it and that you can buy and
- 3:42Speaker 1: you can put on you and you're in a big
- 3:44Speaker 1: screen movie theater. You can invite your friends in and
- 3:49Speaker 1: watch a movie together. That's dope. Yeah, we got to
- 3:53Speaker 1: do that. Yeah. I think that's a great idea. I
- 3:55Speaker 1: think that's a great idea. I have a question to ask, now,
- 3:57Speaker 1: go ahead. So the Oculus, it just comes with the
- 4:00Speaker 1: joystick and the goggles. That's hit. That's it, and your headphones.
- 4:04Speaker 1: You it has a spot where you can attach headphones,
- 4:07Speaker 1: but it has directional hearing, so it can just you know,
- 4:10Speaker 1: you can use it without headphones. So how do you
- 4:11Speaker 1: download things? Like? How? Where does there's an a in
- 4:15Speaker 1: the goggles? So you can use it in the goggles
- 4:17Speaker 1: if you like, I have a limited time, I can
- 4:19Speaker 1: keep the goggles on and keep playing. It's about an
- 4:21Speaker 1: hour and a half, few hours probably the longest I
- 4:24Speaker 1: could be playing video games anyway. But you can use
- 4:27Speaker 1: your phone to purchase your apps, and then once you're
- 4:30Speaker 1: inside the goggles, you can like upload it to your things.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I pay for them on my phone, your phone, But
- 4:37Speaker 1: your phone isn't your screen is it? No? No, no, no, no,
- 4:40Speaker 1: come on, buddy, everything how much money in your phone?
- 4:43Speaker 1: In your screen on the Okay, calm down, first of all,
- 4:47Speaker 1: Calm down. By the way, Joel's unboxing video was made
- 4:50Speaker 1: my day. I watched it a few times. So funny
- 4:53Speaker 1: when you're unwrapping it. You're so funny. Oh my gosh,
- 4:56Speaker 1: thank you. It was fun to unwrap. You guys got
- 4:59Speaker 1: a lot of comprom on your choice in wrapping paper.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I don't want to be sexist, but did did one
- 5:04Speaker 1: of the partners? No, that's me that I want you
- 5:10Speaker 1: to know. That wasn't even like my assistant, Joel. That's
- 5:12Speaker 1: so much love I put into this. My mom taught
- 5:15Speaker 1: me how to rap when I was a kid. That
- 5:18Speaker 1: she did real good teaching. I I really and because
- 5:22Speaker 1: it was you and I was putting so much love
- 5:23Speaker 1: into it, I didn't phone that shit in, Joel. Like
- 5:26Speaker 1: when I folded down the ends and it was like
- 5:28Speaker 1: a little long, I took them scissors back out and trimmed.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Joel trimmed, I'm gonna I'm gonna tell you guys something
- 5:34Speaker 1: right now, when it comes to detail, when it comes
- 5:37Speaker 1: to decoration, when it comes to stylizing a space thing
- 5:42Speaker 1: or something like that. Of that matter, Zach Braff works
- 5:48Speaker 1: really hard to please the eye. You know what I mean.
- 5:52Speaker 1: You walk into you walk into a room. If Zach
- 5:55Speaker 1: is the owner of the room or renting or renting
- 5:59Speaker 1: set space in room, it was renting space in said room.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Let me tell you something right now, it usually has
- 6:07Speaker 1: a theme and it is usually fire. I also got
- 6:13Speaker 1: to say, I get so much joy out of matching
- 6:16Speaker 1: the right gift with the right person. And I really
- 6:20Speaker 1: love that. I I mean, and of course when someone's
- 6:23Speaker 1: appreciative as you where your video was amazing, it made me.
- 6:26Speaker 1: It made me laugh so hard. But I I just
- 6:28Speaker 1: loved like And we had a little help from Daniel
- 6:30Speaker 1: because I was brainstorming and Daniel was like, stop brainstorming,
- 6:33Speaker 1: this is what it should be. But I but I
- 6:36Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, I don't know. I was
- 6:38Speaker 1: just really looking forward to it. I love I love
- 6:40Speaker 1: I love that. I love sharing with you. Should we
- 6:42Speaker 1: let Shay and I'm feeling bad? We got a fancy
- 6:43Speaker 1: guest in the him in the other room. Let him in.
- 6:46Speaker 1: You know, if there's another guest, we might say hold
- 6:48Speaker 1: him off, but Shay, you know, ladies and gentlemen, welcome
- 6:52Speaker 1: to the showy thunderous. It is really good everyone. Sorry,
- 7:00Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Donald was thirteen minutes late, So I'm sorry. Sha.
- 7:04Speaker 1: You know what I started, You know what I started doing.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I started. I started working out today, day one, day one,
- 7:12Speaker 1: day one, the peloton bike. I'm already sore. Yeah, it's awful.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I try to one. It is a killer. I'm cutting
- 7:23Speaker 1: weight though, Sha, I'm getting skinny. He's trying to get
- 7:26Speaker 1: down to his fight weight. I'm getting down to a
- 7:28Speaker 1: fight club weight. Do you Donald, do you have the
- 7:31Speaker 1: shoes that go with it? The fancy shoes you got?
- 7:33Speaker 1: You need the shoes. You gotta have the shoes. Shy.
- 7:36Speaker 1: They kind of monopolize the situation though. Man. You get
- 7:39Speaker 1: the shoes from them, and you get the You don't
- 7:41Speaker 1: have to buy their brand. You can buy a different
- 7:43Speaker 1: brand if you're worried about a monopoly A word A word, Yeah, shoes,
- 7:48Speaker 1: they're just cycling shoes. You can you probably get dope
- 7:51Speaker 1: Nike ones if you want. I was on the I
- 7:53Speaker 1: was under the assumption and as you always do when
- 7:56Speaker 1: you make it, when you assume, you make an ass
- 7:58Speaker 1: out of you and me. I thought that those only
- 8:02Speaker 1: fit the same pegs, that the only peg you know,
- 8:05Speaker 1: the Peloton pegs were the only pegs that they think.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I would be fucked up because imagine there's people who
- 8:09Speaker 1: are real cyclists who get on and to train and
- 8:11Speaker 1: then just clip out and clip into their real bike. Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I hope so I haven't tested that there yet. I
- 8:17Speaker 1: hope this is true. Shay. I'm always excited when you're
- 8:21Speaker 1: on for obvious reasons, because you're the best guest, but
- 8:23Speaker 1: also even before I've watched the episode, I'm walking around.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I was making my smoothie this morning, going oh cool,
- 8:29Speaker 1: we have Shay on, and then I said, oh, I
- 8:31Speaker 1: know it's a good episode of the show, because I
- 8:33Speaker 1: always say to Shay first off, when we start a
- 8:36Speaker 1: new season, what do you which your episode you want
- 8:39Speaker 1: to come on for? Right, And when he chooses this one,
- 8:43Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, well, I know it's gonna be
- 8:44Speaker 1: a good one, right yeah. Yeah, yeah. So anytime that
- 8:49Speaker 1: you all are nice enough to let me come on
- 8:51Speaker 1: the show, one of the things that I definitely try
- 8:53Speaker 1: to do, and this is something that Donald picked up
- 8:55Speaker 1: on the last time I was here. One of the
- 8:57Speaker 1: things that I definitely try to do is pick an
- 8:59Speaker 1: episod so that will allow the opportunity to talk about
- 9:03Speaker 1: a the brilliance of the show as it was displayed
- 9:06Speaker 1: in that particular episode, but also be some larger part
- 9:10Speaker 1: of this show's legacy. So that's why when I got
- 9:12Speaker 1: your message about being on season three, I said, well, absolutely,
- 9:15Speaker 1: because here's the thing, Okay, a very common thing happening
- 9:20Speaker 1: right now, because we had that giant Last Dance documentary
- 9:23Speaker 1: earlier this year and then the Lakers won the title
- 9:25Speaker 1: of a week ago, is there's this whole Lebron versus
- 9:28Speaker 1: Jordan debate is like start up again, Who's the greatest
- 9:32Speaker 1: of all time? Right? And and that's fun. That's a
- 9:36Speaker 1: fun thing to think about and to participate in. But
- 9:39Speaker 1: if we move at a level past that, if you
- 9:41Speaker 1: change the parameters of the debate just a little bit,
- 9:44Speaker 1: it can become I think more interesting, because inevitably, talking
- 9:48Speaker 1: about Lebron versus Jordan becomes a thing where you're trying
- 9:51Speaker 1: to solve too many problems at once. You're trying to
- 9:53Speaker 1: account for the different eras the different salary caps at
- 9:56Speaker 1: different ways in which basketball importance is measured. It's like
- 9:59Speaker 1: trying to solve X at the same time that you're
- 10:01Speaker 1: trying to solve for why, you know what I'm saying. Yes,
- 10:04Speaker 1: So if you change it a bit, rather than making
- 10:05Speaker 1: it Jordan versus Lebron, you make it Jordan versus Jordan.
- 10:09Speaker 1: When was Jordan at his absolute greatest? What season did
- 10:13Speaker 1: we get the best ever version of Jordan? That to
- 10:15Speaker 1: me is a little more interesting. And if we tie
- 10:18Speaker 1: that back to Scrubs into this podcast, that's why I
- 10:21Speaker 1: was pumped up to be on here. Scrubs is one
- 10:23Speaker 1: of the greatest TV shows of all time. We're all
- 10:25Speaker 1: very clear on that's smart, it's funny, it's tender, it's
- 10:27Speaker 1: well written, well acted, what directed will scored. It hits
- 10:30Speaker 1: all the spots that you need a TV show to
- 10:33Speaker 1: hit for it to get into that conversation. But here's
- 10:35Speaker 1: a question that I have spent a fair amount of
- 10:37Speaker 1: time thinking about and a fair amount of time arguing about,
- 10:40Speaker 1: even more so than where does Scrubs belong on the
- 10:43Speaker 1: list of all time great TV shows? What season was
- 10:46Speaker 1: Scrubs at its absolute greatest? What season did we get
- 10:49Speaker 1: the best single stretch of episodes, the best storylines, the
- 10:51Speaker 1: best character weaving, the most impactful acting, all of it.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And season three is one of two seasons of Scrubs
- 10:59Speaker 1: that has a rightful claim to that throne. It's season three,
- 11:02Speaker 1: and it's season five. And season five we have the
- 11:05Speaker 1: we have the Miss Wilkes episode. We have the two
- 11:08Speaker 1: episode arc where doctor Cox falls into the depression. We
- 11:11Speaker 1: have the Wizard of Oz episode, which was great because
- 11:13Speaker 1: of how ingenious it was, but also because that's the
- 11:15Speaker 1: episode where Ted has this single most beautiful musical performance.
- 11:19Speaker 1: We have the sitcom parody episode. We have Turk finds
- 11:22Speaker 1: out that Carlo's pregnant before she does episode there. There's
- 11:25Speaker 1: a bunch of them too. It's a really really special
- 11:26Speaker 1: stretch of the show. Season three gave us the Ben episode.
- 11:31Speaker 1: It gave us the Michael J. Fox arc, the two
- 11:35Speaker 1: episode arc there, which is beautiful. It gave us Turk
- 11:37Speaker 1: and Carla getting married, which was wonderful. We get to
- 11:39Speaker 1: take Me Serious episode from Elliott, which is great, The
- 11:42Speaker 1: Butterfly episode, which is another example of the show's ability
- 11:45Speaker 1: to get you leaning in one direction and then fucking
- 11:48Speaker 1: shove you in the opposite direction at the end of
- 11:50Speaker 1: the show. And then we have this episode here my
- 11:54Speaker 1: brother were Arthur, where Jad's brother shows up again, and
- 11:57Speaker 1: I'm fucking super pumped to talk about it because it's
- 12:00Speaker 1: so great that that confrontation, in particular all of the
- 12:04Speaker 1: rest of the episode. Two. Oh my god, I just
- 12:06Speaker 1: want just want to plant one thing further. Wore we
- 12:12Speaker 1: go on any further? That was fake Doctor's real friends.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Thank you guys for listening. I was gonna make a
- 12:20Speaker 1: similar comment and that I want the audience to know
- 12:23Speaker 1: Chase not reading off of notes. That fucking amazing monologue
- 12:28Speaker 1: he just did was off his off the cuff and impromptu,
- 12:32Speaker 1: and I got goose bumps three times. And you are
- 12:36Speaker 1: just you are just so fucking well spoken. It makes
- 12:38Speaker 1: me think like I should quit this podcast and get
- 12:40Speaker 1: in the fetal position. But this is thank you. This
- 12:43Speaker 1: is only because I spent all of that time working
- 12:45Speaker 1: on the Scrubs book. Oh I know, but you are also, dude, dude, dude,
- 12:50Speaker 1: you are you are. I know you are not gonna
- 12:54Speaker 1: like you shouldn't waste your talents running for public office,
- 12:56Speaker 1: but you're such an amazing public speaker. You just can
- 12:59Speaker 1: like riff so fact, you're not like, there's no ums,
- 13:01Speaker 1: there's no and you know likes, you're just like like
- 13:05Speaker 1: you're reading a fucking teleprompter. That was amazing. And on
- 13:09Speaker 1: that note, for all y'allum death five six, seven, eight
- 13:12Speaker 1: stories about Shure, we made about a bunch of dots
- 13:18Speaker 1: and nurses said, he's the stories. So yeat around here,
- 13:28Speaker 1: are yeadoo around here? Are welcome to the program everyone,
- 13:37Speaker 1: it's officially started. Sorry that it's uh, you know, we're
- 13:40Speaker 1: running behind because Donald was thirteen minutes late because he
- 13:43Speaker 1: decided to get in shape for the first time today,
- 13:45Speaker 1: Thank you, Donald, but the first time pretty much for this.
- 13:48Speaker 1: You know, I tried to get in shape in the
- 13:50Speaker 1: beginning of quarantine, right, and now it's like we're going
- 13:53Speaker 1: into our third trimester. I guess of quarantine. We're about
- 13:56Speaker 1: to get birth skin rough. It's about it's about to
- 13:59Speaker 1: be a full on baby. It's getting rough. It's getting bad.
- 14:01Speaker 1: It's getting bad. People. We got a big election coming up. Donald,
- 14:04Speaker 1: voting is sexy. I'm wearing my Voting is Sexy t
- 14:06Speaker 1: shirt for you guys. Yeah, we're not going to get
- 14:08Speaker 1: political today on any of that. Sh I'm not trying
- 14:10Speaker 1: to go down. I'm als. I know you're not. I
- 14:13Speaker 1: know you're not. But I'm going to say one thing
- 14:14Speaker 1: to all of our all of our listeners. The one
- 14:17Speaker 1: thing that you have to do, if you are in
- 14:19Speaker 1: the United States of America, the thing you have to
- 14:23Speaker 1: do this year, this November third is vote. It is
- 14:29Speaker 1: the most important thing you will do this year. You
- 14:33Speaker 1: didn't do shit. You all locked inside anyway because of
- 14:36Speaker 1: the pandemic. This is the time to get out. And
- 14:38Speaker 1: I'm not being political. This is not a policy thing.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I don't apologize. I'm not pretty much on the line.
- 14:44Speaker 1: One hundred million people didn't vote last time. Do you
- 14:46Speaker 1: know hundred million eligible people didn't vote. That is ridiculous.
- 14:50Speaker 1: That is ridiculous, coming down my face. So I don't
- 14:54Speaker 1: care who you vote for. I can't care. I can't
- 14:57Speaker 1: do like Donald likes, be an extra a political vote.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I care, Okay, they care who you vote for. I
- 15:05Speaker 1: don't care who you vote for. If you vote for
- 15:07Speaker 1: who you vote for and you don't like me, that's fine.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Vote who you vote for. And I've already gone Shaye
- 15:12Speaker 1: knows because he follows me on Twitter. I've already gone
- 15:14Speaker 1: all in like the people who fucking the people who
- 15:17Speaker 1: hate me are gonna hate me already because I just
- 15:19Speaker 1: I'm all in. I'm like, fuck it. It's like poker.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm all in. I can't take it anymore. I hear
- 15:23Speaker 1: that anyway. So just I want to ask. I want
- 15:26Speaker 1: to ask. Yeah, definitely, please vote. Look into what's going
- 15:29Speaker 1: on in your state because on the day of there's
- 15:33Speaker 1: likely to be extraordinary long lines. So if you're in Pennsylvania,
- 15:37Speaker 1: for example, as I understand it, you can vote in
- 15:39Speaker 1: person the whole week before, so don't get caught in
- 15:42Speaker 1: some craziness. Obviously, plenty of states have early voting that
- 15:46Speaker 1: starts now, Um, Texas, what up? Yeah, I think that.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Just just do us a favor. You can go to
- 15:52Speaker 1: I will vote dot com, or you can go to
- 15:54Speaker 1: the thing that Donald and I supported, which is headcount
- 15:56Speaker 1: dot org. Slash Zack and Donald. Baby fell Stain has
- 16:01Speaker 1: a platform that she's doing also, and I don't want
- 16:03Speaker 1: to get it wrong, and so we'll bring it up
- 16:04Speaker 1: later on in the program when I have my notes
- 16:08Speaker 1: in front of me. Okay, you planning to get your
- 16:10Speaker 1: notes at all? I just want to know when that's
- 16:12Speaker 1: going to start. Sano today I have I have the
- 16:17Speaker 1: show notes. I don't have the notes for her voting site.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Can I spend third I want? We're not gonna get
- 16:24Speaker 1: on political wormhole, So if don't worry, if I'm gonna
- 16:27Speaker 1: ask one question because I have three donald aside, I
- 16:30Speaker 1: have three very intelligent people here who are shit. No,
- 16:35Speaker 1: you're smart, but you're not as politically savvy as I know.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Daniel and Joel are, and I imagine Shay is just
- 16:42Speaker 1: from following him on Twitter. So I'm gonna ask your face.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask one question. We're not gonna get on
- 16:46Speaker 1: a huge wormhole, and I'm gonna be stop, shut up.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna be impartial and just ask a question. Daniel, Joel,
- 16:52Speaker 1: and Shay, if you're interested, can you explain to me
- 16:57Speaker 1: the movement of people that are very liberal and very
- 17:01Speaker 1: to the left and want and Bernie or Elizabeth Warren
- 17:05Speaker 1: or or anybody else and are passionately not getting behind Biden? Now,
- 17:12Speaker 1: can you just explain to me, in as pretend I
- 17:15Speaker 1: know nothing, which I almost do, what the ideology is
- 17:18Speaker 1: behind voting third party or someone else when that clearly
- 17:23Speaker 1: helps Trump go. There rise of people who believe that
- 17:27Speaker 1: neither side is supporting or passing laws or doing the
- 17:31Speaker 1: things they actively need to be doing to help the
- 17:34Speaker 1: people that they represent, and that it's across all spectrums, black,
- 17:38Speaker 1: Latin X, queer, differently abled, all of it, and they
- 17:42Speaker 1: just feel like their vote is sacred and therefore they
- 17:46Speaker 1: should cast it for who they believe is, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 1: the best person in their mind, damn the rest of
- 17:53Speaker 1: the results, and that is their feeling, and they are
- 17:56Speaker 1: will be hard pressed to find a lot of those
- 17:58Speaker 1: people to be moved one direction or the other because
- 18:01Speaker 1: they just feel so failed by the system as a whole. Yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 1: that sounds exactly right. Yeah, I have nothing else to add. Well,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I don't. They can vote for whoever they want to.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I just want them to vote. It's still speaking your voice,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you know what. I know. I just, I just, I
- 18:15Speaker 1: just and I know I don't I know. Don't at
- 18:17Speaker 1: me because I'm asking it as innocently as possible. Even
- 18:20Speaker 1: if that doesn't go to the greater good of getting
- 18:22Speaker 1: the bad man out. They're like, fuck it, you didn't
- 18:25Speaker 1: go for Bernie kind of vibes. There's definitely a group
- 18:28Speaker 1: of people like Vala. Dan'll take that one, because that's oh,
- 18:31Speaker 1: I mean, all I was going to say is that, like,
- 18:33Speaker 1: you know, what has been universally accepted as the greater
- 18:35Speaker 1: good has not been the greater good for so many
- 18:37Speaker 1: people who have been disenfranchised, who haven't had their voice
- 18:40Speaker 1: heard for generations and generations. And despite how many times
- 18:43Speaker 1: that we have said in the past, like you know,
- 18:46Speaker 1: really this, you know you're going to do this when
- 18:48Speaker 1: you should be voting for this, neither party has ever
- 18:51Speaker 1: represented those people. And it's like, it's a part problem
- 18:53Speaker 1: with the two party system and it's a problem with
- 18:55Speaker 1: how we view politics in this country in general. But
- 18:58Speaker 1: I do not necessary early blame people for feeling like
- 19:02Speaker 1: they are not represented, because the fact is a lot
- 19:07Speaker 1: of people haven't been and still aren't. So yeah, I'm not,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm honestly, you're not blaming anymore. I just
- 19:13Speaker 1: didn't fully understand the ideology behind like and what you're
- 19:17Speaker 1: saying is like, yeah, they hear that every fucking four
- 19:19Speaker 1: years and they're tired of it. And I get that.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I just as someone who's so passionate about this, and
- 19:24Speaker 1: I know so or so is a good percentage of
- 19:27Speaker 1: the population. I just I want I kind of want to.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I want maybe I'm the guy who's the idiot being like, oh,
- 19:32Speaker 1: come on, guys, just one more time, and they're like,
- 19:34Speaker 1: fuck off. I get it. I respect it. I just
- 19:36Speaker 1: didn't fully understand it. So thank you for articulating it.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Let's get off this now. Thank you. Should we talk
- 19:41Speaker 1: about the television show Scrubs guys that, as you know,
- 19:45Speaker 1: we have a forty seven second summary from Donald Phazon
- 19:49Speaker 1: these days, I hope when shaise on Donald you put
- 19:54Speaker 1: a the lecture effort into it, because the man writes
- 19:56Speaker 1: are as very articulately about the show. You know, this
- 20:00Speaker 1: is starting to turn into a funk with Donald situation.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Am I ruining your endorphin high from the spin bike?
- 20:08Speaker 1: You know I was. I was feeling good when we
- 20:10Speaker 1: got on the podcast today, and now I'm starting to
- 20:14Speaker 1: feel like, uh, you know, uh, like my best friend
- 20:19Speaker 1: is being a bit of a deckhead. I love you.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I apologize and I would take your ball sweat and
- 20:26Speaker 1: just squeeze it all over my hand. Not again, too much,
- 20:29Speaker 1: too much? Too well, all right, I'm sorry trying to
- 20:32Speaker 1: win him back, say no more, You've done your job.
- 20:38Speaker 1: It's like you had me at Hello, you had me
- 20:41Speaker 1: all right, you're ready and are you ready? And j
- 20:45Speaker 1: D's brother Dan is back and he can't believe the
- 20:48Speaker 1: way JD is evolving as a doctor. The rest of
- 20:51Speaker 1: the cast is trying to make ends meet, moonlighting behind
- 20:54Speaker 1: the hospitals. Back now, we all do what we can
- 20:57Speaker 1: to get over the proverbial hump, and it's easy to
- 21:00Speaker 1: get lost chasing our destiny. Doesn't take much to get
- 21:04Speaker 1: back on track. If someone is looking out for you,
- 21:06Speaker 1: You're lucky if you have that Okay, Donald phase that
- 21:11Speaker 1: was that was shorter than usual and well said? A family, right,
- 21:15Speaker 1: I mean, family is a central tenant of this How
- 21:18Speaker 1: do you navigate these relationships of people you love who
- 21:24Speaker 1: drive you fucking nuts? Right? Yeah, but it's more. It's
- 21:27Speaker 1: more than that though this episode, man, it's it's yo.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Your brother fights for your soul at the end of
- 21:33Speaker 1: this episode. Yeah, you know what I mean, He fights
- 21:36Speaker 1: for your soul and he goes by the way I
- 21:40Speaker 1: love the Jade never knows. Yeah, yeah, but Cox knows.
- 21:43Speaker 1: And in the beginning, you know what, I'm sure I'm
- 21:45Speaker 1: getting chills thinking about this shit. Cox doesn't give a fuck.
- 21:48Speaker 1: The job's getting done. He doesn't care what this kid's
- 21:50Speaker 1: turning into. Life is moving on in the hospital, and
- 21:53Speaker 1: it takes somebody to show up out of nowhere, somebody
- 21:55Speaker 1: who cares for this, one person who cox cares for
- 21:58Speaker 1: two to show up and be like, dude, all right,
- 22:00Speaker 1: I get it. This is a hospital and people die,
- 22:03Speaker 1: and you got to go through all of these tragic
- 22:05Speaker 1: moments and the only way to cope is this way.
- 22:07Speaker 1: But Yo, this is my brother man, and I love
- 22:09Speaker 1: this man. I love him so much. Please don't let
- 22:12Speaker 1: him fall into the same category that you're falling into.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Don't let him fall down the same path that you've
- 22:16Speaker 1: you've gone down, you know what I mean. Don't let
- 22:18Speaker 1: him turn to the dark side, because there's so much
- 22:20Speaker 1: light in him, you know what I mean. And he
- 22:22Speaker 1: sees that I could be something better than I am.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And even when I don't see it in myself, my
- 22:27Speaker 1: brother has this positive energy about him. Please don't take
- 22:29Speaker 1: that away from him. And he's begging at the end
- 22:32Speaker 1: of the show. He's begging even though he might get
- 22:35Speaker 1: his ass kick. He even throws a threat at the
- 22:37Speaker 1: end of it, like I will fuck you up if
- 22:40Speaker 1: you ruin my brother. He pretty much tells him that yeah,
- 22:43Speaker 1: Cox gets it and walks away. You know, spoiler alert.
- 22:45Speaker 1: He gets it and walks away and gives Jad to
- 22:47Speaker 1: pep talk at the end, but no, Dan makes Dan
- 22:50Speaker 1: makes a big difference. He says, Look, I'm not anything.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be a doctor who saves lives. I
- 22:57Speaker 1: my life, I still live with my mom. I don't
- 22:59Speaker 1: have anything going on. But this kid, he wanted to
- 23:02Speaker 1: become a doctor, born anything. And I'm watching you and
- 23:04Speaker 1: you're you're slowly making him cynical and pessimistic and making
- 23:09Speaker 1: jokes about death and and how dare you like you
- 23:13Speaker 1: need to You're the one he'll do anything you say.
- 23:15Speaker 1: You need to keep that light in a light inside
- 23:18Speaker 1: of him. And and then the fact that JD never
- 23:20Speaker 1: knows and then and then Cox gives him a pep
- 23:23Speaker 1: talk at the end, I thought was really moving. What
- 23:25Speaker 1: do you think one more thing before you go? Like,
- 23:28Speaker 1: I didn't think this was the funniest episode of the season.
- 23:30Speaker 1: I didn't think this is the funniest episode we've seen
- 23:32Speaker 1: so far. But as far as as far as a
- 23:35Speaker 1: point being made, yes, this was it, dude. And when
- 23:39Speaker 1: I found out Shade was going to be on the show.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I was like, of course he's going to be on
- 23:42Speaker 1: this show. I mean, this is the one. This is
- 23:46Speaker 1: the one that I greatly enjoy a watch. To your point, Zach,
- 23:52Speaker 1: the thing about him about JD never finding out about
- 23:55Speaker 1: the speech, I think that opens up like a really
- 23:57Speaker 1: interesting conversation get into because earlier in the episode, JD
- 24:03Speaker 1: sort of chastises Dan about having never been there for him.
- 24:06Speaker 1: You never showed you, never showed up when I needed
- 24:08Speaker 1: you too, And then we see this other thing happen,
- 24:11Speaker 1: and so the viewer is left to wonder one of
- 24:12Speaker 1: two things. Number one, was Dan secretly always in the
- 24:16Speaker 1: background standing up for JD, helping him get to where
- 24:19Speaker 1: he needed to go or wanted to go, or was
- 24:23Speaker 1: this really the first time? And JD is like spurred
- 24:25Speaker 1: on this great big change and his brother. Every time
- 24:28Speaker 1: his brother showed up, JD would say something to do
- 24:29Speaker 1: something that would inch him in the direction he needed
- 24:32Speaker 1: to be to be heading. It's one of I think
- 24:35Speaker 1: like it's one of three or four things that happens
- 24:37Speaker 1: in this particular confrontation between Dan and doctor Cox that
- 24:42Speaker 1: is so interesting to think about because the guy it
- 24:45Speaker 1: was it, Tom Kavanaugh, is just outstanding here. Yeah, he
- 24:49Speaker 1: steps into this role and and just nails it. And
- 24:52Speaker 1: it speaks to a larger thing that Scrubs is really
- 24:54Speaker 1: good at. One of the things that always comes up
- 24:56Speaker 1: when people talk about the show is how it was
- 24:58Speaker 1: probably the best ever at navigating those turns when an
- 25:01Speaker 1: episode would go from something being totally incompletely silly to
- 25:05Speaker 1: being something totally incompletely serious, Like, and that's what we
- 25:07Speaker 1: see here here he is giving this this really touching,
- 25:10Speaker 1: really heartfelt monologue. And just a few minutes earlier, there
- 25:14Speaker 1: was a scene where him and Turk and JD are
- 25:17Speaker 1: a traveling fart show and it's so bad, and like
- 25:21Speaker 1: that happens in the span of a few minutes, and
- 25:23Speaker 1: it does, and it somehow doesn't detract away from the
- 25:26Speaker 1: emotion of the situation. It's amazing that he's able to
- 25:29Speaker 1: summon during that confrontation. If anything, it enhances it, So
- 25:32Speaker 1: I think amazing. It's almost like the miss might be
- 25:36Speaker 1: a stupid analogy, but like swimming with weights on in
- 25:38Speaker 1: that you you go so extreme one direction that you're
- 25:42Speaker 1: able to swing the other direction. Yeah, do you know
- 25:44Speaker 1: what I mean? You make a between the stupidest fart joke.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Probably in nine years we're like, we're literally on tour
- 25:50Speaker 1: as a fart band. I mean like, I'm embarrassed that
- 25:53Speaker 1: we did that. But then then that that you go
- 25:56Speaker 1: so far the silly direction that you can almost spring
- 26:00Speaker 1: back and be and be stronger in the emotional direction.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Maybe yeah. And what's fun to do is if you're
- 26:05Speaker 1: rewatching the show with like that in mind, you figure
- 26:08Speaker 1: out that every single time a big moment like that happened,
- 26:11Speaker 1: it was preceded by something really really outrageous and goofy.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Later on, you guys would do the Ben episode, and
- 26:17Speaker 1: when you rewatch that, the scene immediately before that is
- 26:20Speaker 1: just outrageous in comparison to those two. So there's that
- 26:23Speaker 1: part of it. There's John C. McGinley, who fucking what
- 26:26Speaker 1: a master this guy is. Once Dan gets going into
- 26:30Speaker 1: his monologue, the meat of it, the important part. Doctor
- 26:32Speaker 1: Cox doesn't have a single word to say in it,
- 26:35Speaker 1: not when he just stands there and absorbs everything and
- 26:38Speaker 1: and in probably anybody else's hands, in a less skilled
- 26:40Speaker 1: actor's hands, it's just empty space right there. But with McGinley,
- 26:45Speaker 1: he feels it up if it's fat with emotion and
- 26:48Speaker 1: a realization He has a really quick part in there
- 26:50Speaker 1: where he takes a big breath as Dan is talking.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Dan has given it to doctor Cox, and doctor Cox
- 26:55Speaker 1: is just like like he just that's the that's the
- 26:59Speaker 1: breath of somebody who knows that they're being read like
- 27:01Speaker 1: a fucking book right now. And he and he just
- 27:04Speaker 1: doesn't say anything back. He never argues with Dan about
- 27:07Speaker 1: JD being special, which is like his way of being like,
- 27:09Speaker 1: you're right, he is, that's my bat It's it's great.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I really like that. And then the last one. And
- 27:14Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm just like reading too far
- 27:16Speaker 1: into it at this situation. But the way that they
- 27:19Speaker 1: shoot that scene, they're outside on the walkway outside of
- 27:21Speaker 1: the hospital, and because of the way that the stage
- 27:24Speaker 1: is the scene of stage, Dan is closer to the door,
- 27:26Speaker 1: Doctor Cox is closer to the ramps to exit, and
- 27:29Speaker 1: doctor Cox, who is otherwise a full inch taller than Dan,
- 27:31Speaker 1: because of the way that they are and the scene,
- 27:34Speaker 1: has to look up at him. And it's one of
- 27:36Speaker 1: the few times in the show that we see doctor
- 27:38Speaker 1: Cox in that position. Usually he lords over everybody over
- 27:41Speaker 1: every situation. Not here, though he has his chin up,
- 27:43Speaker 1: he's exposed be even it's like the same thing. Yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 1: with with Brendan Fraser's character with Ben, like he's so
- 27:51Speaker 1: much taller than him, he's always sort of chin out
- 27:54Speaker 1: ready to get hit in it. Subconsciously, you're watching the
- 27:56Speaker 1: scene and you don't really register that it's happening, but
- 27:59Speaker 1: you can something weird here is happening. You can feel it.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Doctor Cox is open to this criticism that Dan, a
- 28:05Speaker 1: person who he does not like one single persent, is
- 28:08Speaker 1: offering him and they're like, oh, that's it's I don't
- 28:10Speaker 1: know they get it on purpose, but well I would
- 28:12Speaker 1: have been so I wouldn't be surprised, as Mark Bucklin,
- 28:14Speaker 1: who was one of our best directors on the whole
- 28:16Speaker 1: run of the show, and episodes are always extra special
- 28:19Speaker 1: when Mark Bucklin was the director, and um, I wouldn't
- 28:22Speaker 1: be surprised if that was a choice because uh, and
- 28:26Speaker 1: it's little subtle things like that that make a huge difference.
- 28:29Speaker 1: There's a there's a really big there's a moment in
- 28:32Speaker 1: there that I that I feel like we're missing. Also,
- 28:35Speaker 1: I feel like doctor Cox is also proud of Dan, like,
- 28:38Speaker 1: oh shit, I didn't see this in the Yeah, He's
- 28:45Speaker 1: like he's like holy okay, and then he says, all
- 28:48Speaker 1: the best, that best Okay, Dan, all the best to you, buddy.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Good for you for doing that right on. You know
- 28:56Speaker 1: what I mean, And it's not condescending I'm making I'm
- 28:58Speaker 1: making it sound condescending right now, but it really is
- 29:00Speaker 1: one of those moments where he's like, holy shit, this dude,
- 29:04Speaker 1: it's a testament to the power of love. Also, this
- 29:07Speaker 1: dude is willing to step to me right here on
- 29:10Speaker 1: my turb right now and fight for his brother. Okay, well,
- 29:16Speaker 1: I have the speech. You want me to read it
- 29:18Speaker 1: real quick? Yeah. I won't try and perform it like
- 29:21Speaker 1: Tom Cavanaugh because he crushed it, but just because every
- 29:25Speaker 1: we're talking about it so much and it happens to
- 29:27Speaker 1: be on the web, I thought i'd just quickly read
- 29:30Speaker 1: it for everybody who hasn't just watched the episode, and
- 29:32Speaker 1: here it is. He says, Hey, listen, doctor Cox, no offense.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of the tough guy act. But
- 29:38Speaker 1: let me tell you what I really think. I think
- 29:40Speaker 1: you love the fact that these kids idolize you. Johnny does.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Johnny was always the one in the family we knew
- 29:45Speaker 1: was going someplace. Sweet kid, smart kid, becoming a doctor.
- 29:49Speaker 1: That's all he ever wanted. And yet somehow you found
- 29:53Speaker 1: a way to beat that out of him. Haven't you
- 29:55Speaker 1: turned him into some kind of cynical guy who seems
- 29:57Speaker 1: to despise what he does, Doctor Cox. Johnny's never going
- 30:01Speaker 1: to look up to me, ever, but he hangs on
- 30:04Speaker 1: every word you say. So I'm asking, no, I'm telling
- 30:08Speaker 1: you take that responsibility seriously. Stop being such a hard ass.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Otherwise you're gonna have to answer to me. You did
- 30:18Speaker 1: a really good job right there. I started, I started
- 30:23Speaker 1: not trying to act, and then I got a sorry,
- 30:26Speaker 1: but Tom did it better. But anyway, the point is
- 30:28Speaker 1: it's a great it's great. It's great writing, and it's
- 30:30Speaker 1: and well awesomely performed, and you're and share you're right,
- 30:33Speaker 1: Johnny sees you know, if you're an actor who thinks
- 30:36Speaker 1: that they don't have a lot of lines. It's the
- 30:37Speaker 1: ultimate example of in a scene watched, watch how good
- 30:40Speaker 1: Johnny Ce is with almost no words and um and
- 30:44Speaker 1: how he listens acts so much about listening, and just
- 30:47Speaker 1: watch how he genuinely listens. And this is an episode
- 30:51Speaker 1: where he has to talk throughout most of the episode,
- 30:54Speaker 1: and his strongest moment in the episode is when he
- 30:57Speaker 1: says nothing that's a really good that it's a good
- 31:00Speaker 1: good actor right there. You know, I played golf with
- 31:03Speaker 1: Johnny yesterday. Oh how did that go? Burying the lead?
- 31:07Speaker 1: That's what they call that. It went fabulous. We had
- 31:11Speaker 1: a wonderful time. Man. Let Johnny talk about it when
- 31:17Speaker 1: he comes on the show. Okay, but uh, he is
- 31:24Speaker 1: one first of all, I had I knew that he
- 31:27Speaker 1: liked to play golf. I didn't know he loved golf.
- 31:30Speaker 1: And it was a lot of fun to watch. You know,
- 31:34Speaker 1: there's there you know, we've known it. We've all known
- 31:37Speaker 1: each other for so long. There's very little that we
- 31:39Speaker 1: don't know it about each other. And this was one
- 31:41Speaker 1: of those things. Like I've never had to compete against
- 31:45Speaker 1: a compete with Johnny, you know what, right, I would
- 31:47Speaker 1: be terrified of that because as I love him to
- 31:50Speaker 1: death and he's a sweetheart, but there's a there is
- 31:52Speaker 1: a little bit of JD and Cox in us, and
- 31:54Speaker 1: I wouldn't want to compete against Johnny. I feel like
- 31:56Speaker 1: he would get all two two into it for me.
- 31:58Speaker 1: He plays tennis too. There's there's oh, we need to
- 32:01Speaker 1: we need to sincere it like, Look, we've spent enough
- 32:04Speaker 1: time like just it'd being you and me. We need
- 32:07Speaker 1: to we need to pull Johnny into the fold. We
- 32:10Speaker 1: need to pull Johnny into the fold. What you're saying
- 32:12Speaker 1: is we should pull and maybe bring him into our
- 32:14Speaker 1: our what do you call it our pod? Because you
- 32:16Speaker 1: and I are pod buddies. Yeah, it would be It
- 32:19Speaker 1: would behoove us to do that, because then we could
- 32:21Speaker 1: go to his house, we could go and hang out
- 32:23Speaker 1: on the land. Yeah, Johnny has a baseball field. Johnny
- 32:26Speaker 1: has field. A dream shay, he has a He lives
- 32:29Speaker 1: in Malibu and bought a piece of property next to
- 32:31Speaker 1: him that's big enough that he built a baseball field.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I'll feel the dreams. That's incredible. He heard, he heard
- 32:37Speaker 1: if you built it? Yeah, he built it. He built
- 32:42Speaker 1: That's that syndication money. Yeah, that syndication money. He put
- 32:47Speaker 1: that all into a baseball field. I don't know about
- 32:49Speaker 1: Donald put into forty seven kids. Yeah, I don't know.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I'm about to staff with dead Donald. If you only
- 32:55Speaker 1: had two kids, you could probably have a baseball field, right.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I put I put it all into my sperm and
- 33:00Speaker 1: shot away. Those are expensive sperm. You shot bro all right,
- 33:04Speaker 1: So how did it go? How did it go? There's
- 33:06Speaker 1: a lot of fun. We had so much fun. And
- 33:08Speaker 1: we played at Sherwood Lake, which is a cute little
- 33:11Speaker 1: part three eighteen hole but it's made by Jack Nicholas
- 33:15Speaker 1: and so it's it's it's it's a very well designed course.
- 33:20Speaker 1: And you know, he invited me out there and we
- 33:22Speaker 1: we played. And is that a club thing or can
- 33:25Speaker 1: anybody go there? It's a club thing, But we're gonna
- 33:27Speaker 1: try and make it a Thursday thing for Johnny. And
- 33:29Speaker 1: I would love that for you, man, because listen, I
- 33:32Speaker 1: know how much you love golf, and I know that
- 33:36Speaker 1: it would be great for you as your friend, as
- 33:38Speaker 1: your best friend. I would love for you to have
- 33:40Speaker 1: like a regular day you played, especially with someone as
- 33:43Speaker 1: cool as Johnny. I know that you. I would want to.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I would want to play with Johnny because he's like
- 33:46Speaker 1: my fucking brother, dude. I've known him pretty much half
- 33:50Speaker 1: of my life. You know what I mean? When you
- 33:52Speaker 1: look at it now, and you guys, you guys, you
- 33:54Speaker 1: know have to tell me who won, although I'm assuming
- 33:56Speaker 1: it's you. Did you did you feel evenly matched in
- 33:58Speaker 1: terms of like you weren't waiting on each other. You
- 34:00Speaker 1: can play. No, I'm not gonna say I won. I
- 34:02Speaker 1: would say Johnny beat me if anything, But it was
- 34:04Speaker 1: my first time playing the chorus, and I never you
- 34:07Speaker 1: know what I mean? There were interesting there were Maybe
- 34:11Speaker 1: if you had a golf simulator you could have won.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I'm interested in the uncertainty here because they keep score.
- 34:16Speaker 1: You just look at the number at the end. You know,
- 34:19Speaker 1: why are you being who the fuck won? Well? We
- 34:22Speaker 1: you know, there's different when you play among there's no
- 34:25Speaker 1: money involved. There are different rules, you know what I mean.
- 34:28Speaker 1: So you get mcgillas. What are they called mcgilla, You
- 34:33Speaker 1: get mcgilla gorillas. You give mcgillas mcgillas. What's much? That
- 34:40Speaker 1: monkey in the window, that's a mcgilla gorilla, right, mcguffin,
- 34:45Speaker 1: that's isn't that a mission that you go on. A
- 34:47Speaker 1: mcguffin is like in a movie, like the random bit
- 34:50Speaker 1: of bullshit you have to make up just to make
- 34:53Speaker 1: the plot work. You're like, well yeah, You're like, I
- 34:55Speaker 1: don't know. And then there'll be some mcguffin like I
- 34:57Speaker 1: don't know because yes, like you know, like a dagger
- 35:01Speaker 1: showing up out of nowhere to show you where the
- 35:03Speaker 1: crash Death Star has the wavefinder that leads to Exegal
- 35:10Speaker 1: even though it blew up exactly like that, yeah, exactly.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Don't know, but it's like it's like you come up
- 35:15Speaker 1: with some weird plots of ice to make the plot works.
- 35:17Speaker 1: You're like, that's something like the Emperor coming back to
- 35:19Speaker 1: life even though he was dead. Okay, let's try and
- 35:22Speaker 1: stay away from that area. You have Shay here. You
- 35:26Speaker 1: can talk about your basketball, the Lakers winning, the Lakers
- 35:30Speaker 1: did it. Yeah, okay, I was gonna stay this shake.
- 35:32Speaker 1: You were saying, you don't want to compare Lebron and
- 35:35Speaker 1: Jordan and all of that stuff, but I'll say this.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Lebron went two more rings. He's been to the finals
- 35:41Speaker 1: more than Jordan, and he's got those six rings too.
- 35:44Speaker 1: That's that becomes a really like I don't know how
- 35:46Speaker 1: you argue against that. You can't. You can't. You can't
- 35:49Speaker 1: deny it. If he wins two more, dude, I don't
- 35:51Speaker 1: know how. Yeah, I don't know longer. It doesn't mean
- 35:55Speaker 1: he's better. Jordan left. He could have done two or
- 35:58Speaker 1: three more, but he was done with the game. He
- 35:59Speaker 1: was like we saw it, We saw him in Washington
- 36:02Speaker 1: and he was he was, he was, he was done
- 36:05Speaker 1: seventy years out of the game though it wasn't you
- 36:07Speaker 1: know from my perspective. From my perspective, Jordan Sneakers or
- 36:11Speaker 1: way nicer bird Song didn't play. I agree with that.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I'm not bringing up out his bird song or Mike Jiminski.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Bro Okay, all right, I will say this, with the
- 36:20Speaker 1: stats and then having won six rings, there's no way
- 36:24Speaker 1: that you will be able to deny Lebron being the
- 36:27Speaker 1: goat people. People will still deny it, see Joel, It
- 36:31Speaker 1: will still deny it. But yeah, I think I think
- 36:34Speaker 1: he just is leading in too many things now to
- 36:37Speaker 1: be like well, to be like well, I don't know, right,
- 36:39Speaker 1: you can't you can't do you can't disregard all of
- 36:41Speaker 1: the numbers, right anymore? Does does Lebron excuse me for
- 36:45Speaker 1: not knowing? Does he do that fucking epic hang time
- 36:48Speaker 1: with the tongue out chip? He does not? I like that.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I used to have a poster of that on my
- 36:52Speaker 1: wall next to my Fantom of the Opera beach towel
- 36:56Speaker 1: that was hung like a tapestry. You'll be happy to
- 36:58Speaker 1: know I did have. Michael and like this, Donking with
- 37:02Speaker 1: his tongue out because I thought that was cool and
- 37:04Speaker 1: I wanted to fit in with other kids. All right,
- 37:06Speaker 1: let's talk about the show Scrubs. Guys. Uh, GOMER is
- 37:09Speaker 1: a real term. UM. It stands for get out of
- 37:12Speaker 1: my emergency room. And apparently it was something that the
- 37:15Speaker 1: doctors used to call old people because they were like, oh,
- 37:18Speaker 1: get this gomer out of here, because um, there was
- 37:21Speaker 1: they were just taking up a bed. That's kind of
- 37:23Speaker 1: like calling an ATM and ATM machine. So you're saying,
- 37:26Speaker 1: get this gomer out of here, but you're saying GOMER,
- 37:30Speaker 1: which stands for get out of my emergency room. So
- 37:35Speaker 1: get this guy out of my emergency room out of here, okay, well, okay,
- 37:42Speaker 1: well then pick a different sentence. I got a got it, Okay. Well,
- 37:47Speaker 1: I'm just say I'm just saying that's because it pisses
- 37:51Speaker 1: me to fuck off with Somebody's like, I gotta make
- 37:52Speaker 1: it to the ATM machine and you're like, you just
- 37:55Speaker 1: said machine machine, motherfucker. All right, I gotta make it
- 37:59Speaker 1: to the ATM machine. Machine. It's way more takes right now,
- 38:04Speaker 1: way more like letter takes than I was anticipating. Um.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I laughed when um when Johnny goes off for a
- 38:15Speaker 1: hug and I go in for the huged. My arms
- 38:17Speaker 1: kind of go up and I'm like, I'm gonna get huged.
- 38:18Speaker 1: That made me laugh. I laughed at pickles, pickles, mister
- 38:22Speaker 1: Bober and his pickles. That senior citizen actor was in
- 38:25Speaker 1: another episode. I forgot where, but this was his second
- 38:29Speaker 1: time being impatient on the show. And when we did
- 38:32Speaker 1: and when we did, undateable was the character mister Bober
- 38:37Speaker 1: that was touching all of the old people. Was that
- 38:40Speaker 1: or was it missus Bober that was doing it? I
- 38:42Speaker 1: don't recall. I don't remember, you don't remember. So, yeah,
- 38:46Speaker 1: this guy he was Frank Bober here. Yeah, but I
- 38:50Speaker 1: just saw in Scrubs Wiki that he had appeared. We
- 38:53Speaker 1: should mention this was written by Mike Schwartz, who's incredible,
- 38:57Speaker 1: one of our favorite UH Scrubs writers. Hilario you guy
- 39:00Speaker 1: and good human being. Um I h how many dog
- 39:05Speaker 1: piles have you been under in life? But I haven't
- 39:08Speaker 1: been in a dogpile probably since like college, like drunkenly right,
- 39:12Speaker 1: I remember being in dog piles. And you like being
- 39:15Speaker 1: under like twenty, feeling like you're under twenty people you're
- 39:17Speaker 1: gonna die. You're gonna die, and then you phobic you
- 39:22Speaker 1: can And I've never been in a dog pile. Do
- 39:27Speaker 1: do gentlemen always lead with their elbows? Is that a thing?
- 39:30Speaker 1: Is it is he intend to hurt? Or is this
- 39:31Speaker 1: a secret way guys get to clud? It is it's
- 39:35Speaker 1: the latter, Are you kill? It is definitely let me
- 39:38Speaker 1: tell you something, Joel, that you need. It is intended
- 39:41Speaker 1: to hurt too. That Donald doesn't want to talk about.
- 39:43Speaker 1: There is a lot There is a lot of mail
- 39:46Speaker 1: on Maile wrestling to make up for like, yeah, sexual
- 39:53Speaker 1: ten tension. And I don't mean, and I don't mean
- 39:55Speaker 1: to imply that the guys necessarily want to fuck. I
- 39:57Speaker 1: just mean that they have the testosterone and and they
- 40:00Speaker 1: just want to It is like fucking male cuddling. It's
- 40:03Speaker 1: like wrestling. And I remember being in high school being
- 40:06Speaker 1: like the dude was like pinning me and like we're like,
- 40:08Speaker 1: I don't know. It felt in hindsight a little like
- 40:11Speaker 1: sexual Okay, I don't mean to say that we were
- 40:15Speaker 1: gonna dock. I just mean that like there was there
- 40:17Speaker 1: was testosteroney tension. Have you Okay, here's a great here's
- 40:21Speaker 1: a great question have you wrestled as a grown man? Though?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Is the question a man? Have you wrestled as a
- 40:27Speaker 1: grown man, not wrestled as a kid. I know, I
- 40:30Speaker 1: wrestled my girlfriends. Sometimes I don't wrestle another man. It's
- 40:33Speaker 1: a grown man, dude, I want dude, We've got to
- 40:37Speaker 1: do this. I once got drunk. I once got drunk
- 40:43Speaker 1: with Jacob Vargas and Sullivan Stapleton. Jacob Vargas, that's my guy. Yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 1: I love Jacob Vargas and and Sullivan Stapletonton who was
- 40:52Speaker 1: on Blind Spot. We were doing a pilot together and
- 40:56Speaker 1: we were living in New Mexico and we were drunk
- 40:59Speaker 1: out of my mind in either Jacob's room or Sully's
- 41:03Speaker 1: room or my room. I don't remember where it was.
- 41:07Speaker 1: But we started wrestling. And let me tell you something
- 41:11Speaker 1: right now, ain't n like being drunk and grown and
- 41:15Speaker 1: wrestling with another motherfucker? I will fuck you with you,
- 41:19Speaker 1: know what I mean? And you're strong, man, Donald, Donald?
- 41:22Speaker 1: Could they keep up with you? Because you're really fucking strong? Yeah,
- 41:25Speaker 1: fucking Sully's way bigger than I am, dude, And he's
- 41:28Speaker 1: way stronger than I am. So he's throwing me around
- 41:30Speaker 1: like a rag doll, and I'm trying to be like
- 41:32Speaker 1: I'm trying to grab him and be like, I will
- 41:34Speaker 1: fuck you. You know, you're trying to get apostous. I
- 41:36Speaker 1: will fuck you up, your motherfucker and you start, you know,
- 41:39Speaker 1: and you're trying to get into it and you're trying.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Always gets more serious than actually drunk. If you just
- 41:45Speaker 1: take that up off, I will fuck you, and you're
- 41:46Speaker 1: you're proving my point. I will fuck you. There's a
- 41:50Speaker 1: there's a there's a thing inside of all Mexicans. Jacob
- 41:54Speaker 1: Jacob Vargas is Mexican American. So if you told me
- 41:57Speaker 1: I got drunk with Jacob Vargas, in my head, I'm like, oh,
- 41:59Speaker 1: that means probably wrestled with Jacob. Dude. We fucking love it.
- 42:06Speaker 1: We love it. They're so Donald Donald. Donald just scared me.
- 42:12Speaker 1: But listen, there's any times over the years when we
- 42:14Speaker 1: get a little bit serious and like I'm trying my best,
- 42:17Speaker 1: when you just fucking crush me. Listen, I'm telling you
- 42:19Speaker 1: something right now. I didn't think I would like it
- 42:21Speaker 1: as a grown man to be rolling around like that,
- 42:24Speaker 1: but that ship's fun. Dude. I was your guy. I
- 42:27Speaker 1: came so hard. It was one. It was one, it
- 42:32Speaker 1: was one. It was one of these. Ah, so um,
- 42:39Speaker 1: we kind of skid by this. But Carla has phone
- 42:42Speaker 1: sex with turks eleven year old nephew. M yes, she says.
- 42:48Speaker 1: She says he was so worldly, and then later on
- 42:54Speaker 1: they call it back and uh, son was my My
- 42:57Speaker 1: nephew was asking what you're wearing? How sweet is that? Yeah?
- 43:04Speaker 1: When she says worldly was she like, oh, and I'm
- 43:06Speaker 1: gonna do this And he's like, oh, yeah, tell me
- 43:08Speaker 1: what you're gonna do with that when you get it
- 43:11Speaker 1: to Elliott's attempt. Elliott's attempt at phone sex in the
- 43:14Speaker 1: woods is hilarious. Now, correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't
- 43:18Speaker 1: we talk about Elliot's uh obsession with nipples? Did we
- 43:22Speaker 1: talk about that? Like she licks somebody's nipple, licks s
- 43:27Speaker 1: she licked nipples in another sex scene. You know, there's
- 43:29Speaker 1: not a lot you can do in a in a
- 43:30Speaker 1: broadcast TV sex scene, So I think that like you're
- 43:34Speaker 1: running out of ideas quickly. So it's like, well, nipples
- 43:36Speaker 1: were allowed to like nipples, all right, We'll lick nipples,
- 43:38Speaker 1: mail nipples and lick mail nipples, Elliott says, something about
- 43:42Speaker 1: licking Sean's nipples. Yeah, and only he almost did, and
- 43:45Speaker 1: he almost and he almost gets it. He says I'm closed,
- 43:48Speaker 1: and she says, I don't care if you're close. No,
- 43:50Speaker 1: she says, she's trying to do some phone sex in
- 43:53Speaker 1: the woods for those of you who haven't watched it,
- 43:55Speaker 1: or I'm just needing to be reminded. She goes nipples Sean,
- 43:58Speaker 1: because they're having bad connection, I'm trying trying to lick
- 44:00Speaker 1: your nipples. And then and then a troop of boy
- 44:04Speaker 1: scouts stumbles upon her in the woods and she says,
- 44:08Speaker 1: I don't care that you're close. I'll call you later,
- 44:10Speaker 1: meaning that that almost drove him to completion the thought
- 44:18Speaker 1: of being told I'm licking your nipples. Your nipples, Sean.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Scott Foley was like, hullo, the first time we've ever
- 44:27Speaker 1: done a short title sequence like this. I believe I'm
- 44:30Speaker 1: no superman. Yeah, you know, we were locked into the time.
- 44:34Speaker 1: So eventually, if Bill couldn't get into a place where
- 44:37Speaker 1: he's like, I can't you know, if he needed a
- 44:39Speaker 1: few more seconds, he's like, this is gonna hurt the show.
- 44:42Speaker 1: If I Bill was a master and is a master
- 44:45Speaker 1: of cutting things down. We would get things both with
- 44:48Speaker 1: my films, I've showed him like, what the hell am
- 44:50Speaker 1: I gonna cut to get this time down? He's so
- 44:53Speaker 1: good at that. But sometimes he'd be I guess I'm
- 44:55Speaker 1: assuming this is the first time he was like, you
- 44:58Speaker 1: know what, I'm gonna take the credit sequence out because
- 45:00Speaker 1: I need that. I need that for the show. So
- 45:02Speaker 1: this is the first one I remember. That's like, I
- 45:03Speaker 1: knows you were meant think. Do you remember any of
- 45:07Speaker 1: the things that Bill cut that you were like, so
- 45:09Speaker 1: hell been on having on the show and then it
- 45:12Speaker 1: was gone, and you were like, fuck, I really wish
- 45:14Speaker 1: that would No. I wasn't really aware because when you're
- 45:16Speaker 1: just when I was just an actor, I wasn't really
- 45:17Speaker 1: micromanaging it like that. When I had directed one, I
- 45:20Speaker 1: would be so invested and they would always be long.
- 45:22Speaker 1: They'd be like thirty five minutes, and you need they
- 45:24Speaker 1: need to be twenty two. So you're always like, I
- 45:27Speaker 1: don't know how to love here, here, here, dad, I
- 45:29Speaker 1: don't know how you're what you're gonna do? But fix it?
- 45:31Speaker 1: And then and then of course when he delivered his
- 45:33Speaker 1: twenty two minute cut, there'd be a lot of like pain,
- 45:36Speaker 1: because you'd be like, oh no, how did you get
- 45:37Speaker 1: rid of that moment? Oh no, why do you? But
- 45:39Speaker 1: you know you had to do it. It's it's there's
- 45:41Speaker 1: no choice. You have to cut it down. Um, all right,
- 45:43Speaker 1: we're gonna go to break and when we come back,
- 45:45Speaker 1: we are going to have a fan call. Is that right, Choell? Yes? Please,
- 45:48Speaker 1: we'll be right back after these fine works. And we're
- 45:59Speaker 1: bad Ron and I'm Donald fase On and we just
- 46:10Speaker 1: connected to Kate. Hi Kate, Oh boy, here we go.
- 46:21Speaker 1: She's she's pulling a Sarah Chalk. You're you're muted now,
- 46:24Speaker 1: this is very Sarah Chalk esque. Now you're one step
- 46:28Speaker 1: away from dropping your iPad in the tub. No, no, no,
- 46:32Speaker 1: can't hit the microphone on the bottom left. The microphone
- 46:34Speaker 1: on the bottom left. Hey, you see that red might
- 46:36Speaker 1: change your Yeah, Choell, I warned you in my email
- 46:42Speaker 1: that I'm kind of like a real life Elliott, and
- 46:44Speaker 1: I just knew this would happen. I knew this would happen.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna say something, Kate. It looked like you gave
- 46:51Speaker 1: up even before we said I'm gonna do fake doctors anymore.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I don't even want to do fake doctors. I don't
- 47:01Speaker 1: want to be on the show anyway. It's very hard
- 47:03Speaker 1: to get on this show. I don't think you give
- 47:04Speaker 1: up if your MIC's on mute just for a second.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I think you really right, Joel, you you you should focus. Yeah,
- 47:10Speaker 1: you sift through a lot of people that want to
- 47:13Speaker 1: be on this program. I am. I am so prepared.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I mean, I have like a hair band, a mask,
- 47:20Speaker 1: a martini, a water bottle. This isn't, this is this isn't.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Let's make a deal. You're not going to need those things.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I mean, I'm I'm currently hiding from my family like
- 47:30Speaker 1: you Donald, and like I have been sitting here like
- 47:33Speaker 1: you're not gonna fuck this up. Listen now, listen in
- 47:39Speaker 1: all seriousness, Kate. There's no wrong answer, all right, if
- 47:42Speaker 1: you say anything horrible, it'll be amazing. People love it.
- 47:47Speaker 1: I think, I think. Okay, so you like to go
- 47:49Speaker 1: buy Zelinsky. Oh well, sometimes when I'm mad at myself,
- 47:53Speaker 1: I call myself by my maiden name, which is Riley. Okay, Um,
- 47:57Speaker 1: so that's why I stuttered, because I usually when I'm
- 47:59Speaker 1: like Riley. You know, that's like very elliot esque. You're
- 48:04Speaker 1: very moving to be very Elliot esque. That was that
- 48:06Speaker 1: was a lot like Elliot Seriously, Yeah, it's it's it's real.
- 48:11Speaker 1: It's it's not a great way to go through life. Guys, Well,
- 48:15Speaker 1: welcome to the program. It's called fake Doctor's Real friends.
- 48:18Speaker 1: We have the legendary writer and uh and personality. What
- 48:23Speaker 1: are you besides a writer, Shay? You're a philanthropist. You're
- 48:26Speaker 1: a writer. You're a philanthropist. You're a Twitter superstar. Uh yeah, writer, philanthropist, writer, philanthropist.
- 48:38Speaker 1: First then Twitter superstar has only fans if you're interested, like,
- 48:42Speaker 1: oh you Shay's only fans? All right? Donald, have you
- 48:46Speaker 1: ever been on an only fans? I don't think we're
- 48:47Speaker 1: allowed on Oh no, I'm not allowed on an only
- 48:49Speaker 1: fans with him. I don't think our women are don't
- 48:50Speaker 1: think our women would support us. Well, you're paying money.
- 48:54Speaker 1: I wonder. I wonder, I really do wonder what only
- 48:58Speaker 1: fans is like, because it can't just be somebody on
- 49:01Speaker 1: only fans just sitting there naked like this is what
- 49:04Speaker 1: I do. Well, isn't it just like I don't know,
- 49:06Speaker 1: Joel's you know what it is? Isn't it just like
- 49:08Speaker 1: a strip club but someone's house? You gotta go to
- 49:10Speaker 1: Joel because you can't come to me. I've lived with
- 49:12Speaker 1: a lot of sex workers over the year, camboys, girls
- 49:15Speaker 1: and such. Let's talk about that. Sorry wait, sorry, Kate,
- 49:23Speaker 1: you can mute your mic again. Not too well, you
- 49:25Speaker 1: live with sex yeah, Joel, y'all know nothing about Wow,
- 49:31Speaker 1: that sounds like a good podcast. Uh yeah, one day
- 49:34Speaker 1: I'll talk about my college days. But yeah, the kids,
- 49:38Speaker 1: you know, they enjoy it. They love they love the
- 49:41Speaker 1: only fans and yeah, it's just it's just amateur porn essentially.
- 49:44Speaker 1: But the cool thing about only fans you're paying the
- 49:47Speaker 1: sex worker directly as opposed to a large company or
- 49:50Speaker 1: getting it for free. You know. So the cam sorry
- 49:54Speaker 1: interrupt with the cam things, they take a giant cut,
- 49:56Speaker 1: whereas this goes directly to the person and they can
- 49:59Speaker 1: control how much it charges and all of that stuff.
- 50:02Speaker 1: So there's some issues with the app that I'm not,
- 50:04Speaker 1: you know, knowledgeable enough to talk about it. But do
- 50:06Speaker 1: you think that Thorn make like two for like twenty
- 50:10Speaker 1: four millions? Very controversially twenty four million, not twenty four million?
- 50:15Speaker 1: How much did she make something like twenty something millions
- 50:20Speaker 1: because she's two millions? Then she said she wasn't gonna
- 50:23Speaker 1: do anything new, and everyone was like, well then when
- 50:25Speaker 1: we all pay for and then she was like, hey, right,
- 50:28Speaker 1: pretty much pretty much. Hi, Kate, I should tell them
- 50:34Speaker 1: why I picked she Sorry, Kate, go ahead, we digress, Jell.
- 50:38Speaker 1: I don't know if you picked me because of my
- 50:40Speaker 1: signs or because of my situation or we can do
- 50:44Speaker 1: situations and then sign because I really wanted to Yeah, okay, well, um, Zach,
- 50:50Speaker 1: I am so touched at how protective you are of
- 50:54Speaker 1: we nursing mothers who are fans of the show. Yes,
- 50:59Speaker 1: because you know, people will tell you even in like
- 51:02Speaker 1: like you know, way to go La League and everything,
- 51:05Speaker 1: but they'll tell you, you know, breastfeeding is the thing
- 51:09Speaker 1: in the world, and it's like, Nope, it's hard. It's
- 51:11Speaker 1: really hard for a lot of us. Not everyone can
- 51:13Speaker 1: do it, and we just have to feed our babies.
- 51:15Speaker 1: And the latch thing is real, the open wound nipples
- 51:19Speaker 1: thing is real, and it's you're sobbing at five in
- 51:23Speaker 1: the morning trying to give your child nourishment. And so
- 51:25Speaker 1: I don't listen to your podcast while nursing because of Donald's.
- 51:32Speaker 1: But I just wanted to ask Joel. I mean I
- 51:35Speaker 1: listened every week. I'm an enormous fan of the podcast.
- 51:37Speaker 1: In the show, You're done, but no, no, no, because
- 51:43Speaker 1: I want I want the Oprah voice, Donald, I do.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I just don't want to have her cake and eat
- 51:47Speaker 1: it too, Donald. She wants the Oprah voice, she just
- 51:51Speaker 1: doesn't want it while she's dealing with a latch. Here's
- 51:54Speaker 1: what you do, Here's what you don't know. Kate. Zach
- 51:58Speaker 1: was being facetious when he made talked about the lac
- 52:01Speaker 1: and everything like that. He doesn't care about your nipples.
- 52:04Speaker 1: He doesn't care. I care about Kate Terriolas. And let
- 52:07Speaker 1: me tell you something. I had so many people tell
- 52:09Speaker 1: me that that they listened while breastbeeding, and I thought
- 52:12Speaker 1: it was very charming. And of course if I was breastbeeding,
- 52:16Speaker 1: I would get lost in a good podcast too. It's perfect,
- 52:19Speaker 1: so you can't. And it's also COVID, so it's not
- 52:22Speaker 1: like I get an escape by like being like I'm
- 52:24Speaker 1: going to go to a movie, you know, in sleep
- 52:26Speaker 1: in a movie theater. There's nothing to do. I'm stuck
- 52:28Speaker 1: at home. I'm on the couch, I'm nursing, I'm pumping,
- 52:31Speaker 1: I'm holding my mama's boy, baby boy, and so there's
- 52:35Speaker 1: not a lot to do. But I listened to the
- 52:36Speaker 1: podcast in my car because I still do my family's
- 52:39Speaker 1: grocery shopping. And I listen in my car, and I
- 52:42Speaker 1: sit in the grocery store parking lot with a drive
- 52:45Speaker 1: through coffee for like ten or fifteen extra minutes. And
- 52:48Speaker 1: then I get home and I'm like, the lines were
- 52:50Speaker 1: so long because I'm just hiding from my So you
- 52:54Speaker 1: guys are my escape. And that's what I told you. Well, yeah,
- 52:57Speaker 1: thank you. Hey, you have a decision to make things
- 52:59Speaker 1: because I will make a promise to you right now
- 53:01Speaker 1: that I won't yell anymore so you can listen while
- 53:04Speaker 1: you're breastfeeding. No, don't do that, Kate, Why you would
- 53:07Speaker 1: I would never. I cannot take I would give you that,
- 53:10Speaker 1: or I will give you the parking lot, which one wants.
- 53:15Speaker 1: You know why? Because if I took away the Oprah
- 53:17Speaker 1: introductions from all future guests, I would I would hate myself. Yes,
- 53:21Speaker 1: I would want to be a lot of people only
- 53:23Speaker 1: listen to the showing to hear Donald's Oprah voice. Kate Zelinsky,
- 53:27Speaker 1: fuck them. It's all about you, Kate, and you are
- 53:32Speaker 1: you kidding? This is the first thing that's been about
- 53:35Speaker 1: only me since Mike Toddler's school shut down and my
- 53:39Speaker 1: job ended within March. Like, this is the thing that is,
- 53:42Speaker 1: this is the only thing that's been only me. Kate,
- 53:45Speaker 1: you sound like my wife. Hold on, I'm gonna go
- 53:47Speaker 1: get her. No, don't go get your wife. Why are
- 53:49Speaker 1: you getting her? Oh? Jesus is Oh, because I know why.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Because she's fixing the rants about Donald not helping enough.
- 53:59Speaker 1: And I'll bet he think this is going to be
- 54:00Speaker 1: some couples counseling if you let some brands on the show.
- 54:04Speaker 1: These people didn't tune in for fucking Donald's couples counseling,
- 54:08Speaker 1: tuned in for a Scrubs podcast. Um, Kate, where do
- 54:11Speaker 1: you live? I live in Richmond, Virginia. Okay, Um, but
- 54:15Speaker 1: I'm currently the reason I have like this time to
- 54:18Speaker 1: do it. We're currently visiting my parents at their um
- 54:22Speaker 1: lake house in North Carolina. So that's gotta be beautiful
- 54:25Speaker 1: a lake house. It's wonderful. It's an insane, beautiful welcoming
- 54:30Speaker 1: house on a beautiful lake. It's so nice to get away. So, Kate,
- 54:34Speaker 1: we're gonna jump ahead to fix your life real quick.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Here's my wife. Uh, this is case This is Casey Cobb.
- 54:44Speaker 1: This is Kate Zelenski. Okay, Casey, your hair looks beautiful today. Thanks,
- 54:50Speaker 1: I got it colored. Yeah, very nice. Kay. Kate was
- 54:54Speaker 1: just sharing how hard it is to be a mom
- 54:57Speaker 1: and to have every single one of your minutes of
- 55:00Speaker 1: your day go to taking care of your children and
- 55:02Speaker 1: your family. And Donald said, let me go get my wife.
- 55:06Speaker 1: So maybe you can speak to to how you're coping
- 55:09Speaker 1: and how you're how you're making that work, because I
- 55:12Speaker 1: know for a fact Donald isn't necessarily pulling his weight. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Um, well,
- 55:21Speaker 1: I have to be honest, Kate. Today I left and
- 55:23Speaker 1: I went and got my hair done for you, because
- 55:26Speaker 1: good for you. You know what. I had grays all
- 55:28Speaker 1: the way down to my ears, and you know what,
- 55:31Speaker 1: I knew that this was the only thing I could
- 55:33Speaker 1: do for myself. Granted, I came home and there was
- 55:37Speaker 1: shit everywhere, and the kids ate donuts on their lunch
- 55:42Speaker 1: break and you know, complete shit show, I'm sure, but
- 55:48Speaker 1: look at my night. My husband told me yesterday I
- 55:50Speaker 1: have white trash roots because that my hair hasn't been
- 55:53Speaker 1: colored since February. White trash roots. And I said, honey,
- 55:55Speaker 1: that's so lovely of you to tell your nursing wife,
- 55:59Speaker 1: mother of to full time everything. Oh my god, you're nursing.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Oh my god, Casey, you told me once that you
- 56:06Speaker 1: were like, because Kate just told a story about how
- 56:08Speaker 1: sometimes she listened to the podcast and stays extra long
- 56:11Speaker 1: in the supermarket parking lot. And you told me a
- 56:13Speaker 1: story once where you were like, I wanted to go
- 56:15Speaker 1: with Chick fil A, but I chose a Chick fil A,
- 56:17Speaker 1: like forty five minutes away because I need to bring no.
- 56:21Speaker 1: It was it was literally the day that they announced
- 56:24Speaker 1: that schools were closing, and we are not that schools
- 56:27Speaker 1: were closing. They closed, you know, in the spring of
- 56:29Speaker 1: last year, but then when we weren't going back in
- 56:32Speaker 1: the fall, and they they told us, and I literally
- 56:36Speaker 1: just said, I'm going to go pick up Chick fil
- 56:37Speaker 1: A for everyone. I got in the car and I
- 56:40Speaker 1: drove forty five minutes to Chick Fila and cried out
- 56:43Speaker 1: the fire away there. It's so hard because you know what,
- 56:49Speaker 1: and I'm sure your husband thinks he's helping, but he's
- 56:51Speaker 1: not about the breastfeeding story. We all know he's not.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I mean, in fact, in fact, we are going on
- 56:58Speaker 1: our first date, said October thirty, first, twenty nineteen. Tonight, Um,
- 57:03Speaker 1: we're at my parents lake house. They're going to watch
- 57:05Speaker 1: the kids, and we're celebrating our anniversary, which was a
- 57:07Speaker 1: last week. It's our first date out. So I put
- 57:10Speaker 1: on makeup for the first time yead knows how long.
- 57:12Speaker 1: And my husband looked at me and he was like,
- 57:14Speaker 1: are you in a play tonight? And I'm like, you know,
- 57:17Speaker 1: you just you just you just haven't seen me in makeup,
- 57:20Speaker 1: And but that you have to like this husband, because
- 57:24Speaker 1: my husband is an er physician who actually has a
- 57:27Speaker 1: Now I like him, but I wish he wasn't a
- 57:29Speaker 1: making fun of your makeup and be making fun of
- 57:31Speaker 1: your roots. Those two things I don't want and see
- 57:34Speaker 1: and see. I bet he still made you have sex
- 57:36Speaker 1: when you came home. Wow that casey okay, this is
- 57:41Speaker 1: a guest And I apologize, Kate. I'm sorry. Sometimes it's
- 57:48Speaker 1: literally just let me have three hours on the couch
- 57:51Speaker 1: after the kids go to bed, to not talk to me,
- 57:54Speaker 1: not doing anything, Just let me watch my crappy TV
- 57:57Speaker 1: and you load the dishwasher and don't even talk to
- 58:00Speaker 1: me till to the next one dreaming and that sexual,
- 58:03Speaker 1: and then Casey and I text about the true crime
- 58:05Speaker 1: shows we're watching. Donald. Donald doesn't watch him, So Casey
- 58:08Speaker 1: and I are like two women like drinking our white
- 58:11Speaker 1: wine being like, did you see this one? It's hard?
- 58:15Speaker 1: I mean it is. It's true. It's so hard, and
- 58:17Speaker 1: I don't I wish I knew how to fix it.
- 58:19Speaker 1: But no, you can't imagine how happy my husband is
- 58:22Speaker 1: for me in this moment. He like he has my
- 58:25Speaker 1: daughter fishing on the dock, my mom has my ten
- 58:27Speaker 1: week old son. Like he was like, get your shower, like,
- 58:30Speaker 1: get you ready? Like he you know, like he had
- 58:33Speaker 1: me go shopping for a dress for our date tonight.
- 58:35Speaker 1: You like sent me to an outdoor mall with my mask.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Like he is actually Zach Like he is the most supportive,
- 58:40Speaker 1: incredible guy. I'm liking him a little more. You had
- 58:43Speaker 1: me at ar doctor. Okay, he is an ear doctor
- 58:45Speaker 1: with a second specialty in hospice and palliative care. And
- 58:51Speaker 1: I've been through it. I know, I've been through it
- 58:53Speaker 1: with my dad and my sisters, so I know who
- 58:55Speaker 1: they are and I and actually, yeah, so yeah, okay,
- 58:58Speaker 1: I like him again. Just tell him not to me, funny,
- 59:00Speaker 1: your fucking root. No, you know what, it's just kind
- 59:02Speaker 1: of like casey, you understand, like Donald says all the time,
- 59:05Speaker 1: like you know, it's kind of fun to shit talk
- 59:06Speaker 1: your husband. You love them more than life itself, but
- 59:08Speaker 1: it's just so fun to every once in a while
- 59:10Speaker 1: and be like, I hate it. I do it more
- 59:14Speaker 1: than I probably should. But tell them about the time
- 59:18Speaker 1: you're thirsty, and okay, I will, but hold let me
- 59:21Speaker 1: tell you one thing though, A lot of the times,
- 59:23Speaker 1: even though we blame the husbands, a lot of it
- 59:25Speaker 1: is the kids, because you know what, we do everything
- 59:28Speaker 1: without even thinking that. There have been times that Donald
- 59:32Speaker 1: is standing right next to me and they're like, Mom,
- 59:35Speaker 1: I need this, and the other kid is mom, but
- 59:37Speaker 1: you didn't do this, and Donald's just sitting there, zoned
- 59:40Speaker 1: out watching TV, and it's and I had I just
- 59:42Speaker 1: recently asked Donald, I just recently started saying, guys, you
- 59:45Speaker 1: have another parent right here. Now. You have to redirect
- 59:48Speaker 1: because you end up doing it all yourself because you
- 59:51Speaker 1: do it faster, better and it gets done. You know,
- 59:54Speaker 1: my daughter at like nine in the morning, because she
- 59:56Speaker 1: knows how to blame me now during COVID will come
- 59:59Speaker 1: into my bathroom room and open the shower curtain for
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: like my once a week shower. I get and be like,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: can I have chocolate milk? And I'm like, what's your
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: dad doing? And she's like watching the news exactly exactly,
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: and I'm like, it's nine am, No you can't. She's
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: like why and I was like, fine, it's just like
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: nine yeah, I don't care, I give up, but I'll
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: bet during COVID A lot of you moms are probably
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: have to and Shay, I know you feel free to
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: weigh in and chase got kids. I know a lot
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: of you parents must be like a lot do you
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: go quicker to fuck it? Yes, have chocolate milk and
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: nine today I feel I feel no shame about it. Zizi.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: My daughter's Zazi usually after her nap watches one twenty
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: two minute like Winnie the Pooh episode, and every day
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: she's like, can I have two? And I'm like, you
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: know what, Like you've already watched your show. She's like why,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: and I'm like, fine, three, have four? Your dad's in
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: the e R till midnight tonight. Have four. I'm nursing.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: It's true, you have you have to find something that
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: you like to do or something for you that nobody
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: else likes to do, and then you get to do
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: it alone and you're on your own. So now here's
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: the problem. Now here's a problem. Now I've been saying
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: that forever. Maybe you just gotta find a hobby. You
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: gotta find something that you like to do by yourself.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: You gotta do you gotta find what it is that
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: you want to do. When I say that, shit, I'm
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: an asshole, and I don't know what the fuck I'm
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: talking about. But now she just fit that game to
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: all her hobby. What if her hobby is you fucking
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: do the shit for a fucking couple hours while I
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: go upstairs and watch fucking True crime. That that's my hobby.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: I'm too tired to do anything else. I don't. I don't.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: I regret bringing my wife up to the conversation. It's
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: your dad's all. You're the one who earn got her.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: My hobby happens to be kind of beneficial to the
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: whole family. I love to cook. I love to everything's
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: about cooking. In fact, when I am nursing Zach, because
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: I can't listen to this podcast because while I'm nursing
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: because Donald so loud. I watch I say that too.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: I tell her I watch episodes of The Barefoot Contessa
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: because she's soothing. Joel, do you love her? I love her? Goals, goals, goals.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: But have you guys seen sorry this is a total
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: non sequitor, but have you guys seen My Octopus Teacher? No? No, never?
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Oh my god, you guys, Shay, I know you love
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: good fucking shit. Write this down good My Octopus Teacher.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: It's on Netflix. Okay, I'll watch that. If you're listening
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: to this, don't turn off the podcast, but jot down
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: in your brain My Octopus Teacher. It's on Netflix. Everybody
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: has Netflix, and it is an amazing documentary about a
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: man who of friends an octopus. I love you. I
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: love your constant fear that when you recommend something people
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: are going to be like fuck yeah and like turn
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: off the podcast immediately watch it. Because I think I'm
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: a really good I think I think I'm very good.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: I think I'm very good at rolling people and rolling people.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: I can be like, listen, I can convince you have
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: to watch this show. It's so amazing. I think I'm
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: pretty decent at getting people riled up to try something,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: but I don't want to roll them too far. But
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: they're like, fuck this podcast, I'm going to watch the
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Octopus Teacher. Now, all right, we gotta move on, Casey.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: We love you look lovely gold colorist. Oh my gosh,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: she's so pretty. Yeah, she's very pretty. Donables and how
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: good he has it? No? Yeah, what are you talking about? Yeah?
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Well that was kind of Fix your Life? So Dan,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: let's do it. Let's do a a posthumous posthumius. How
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: do you say that word? Sure? Yeah, a postumis playing
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: of the Fix your Life music right here. Kate. You're welcome,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: You're welcome, You're welcome, Kate. Do you have a question
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: for any of us? I know you have to go
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: because you have date night, but do you ever know?
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: But actually, are are the other couple that's driving forty
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: five minutes from Ashville just told me they're running late,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: so that can be. I won't take up your time,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: but you can take up mine. Now, go ahead. What's
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: your question? Yes, I'm actually really glad that shas here
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: because my first question is about cast and crew. Zach.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: It's it's for you, mainly. I've always wondered how when
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: an actor is a star of a piece kind of
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: like Kevin Costner does all the time, and they also
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: direct you directed episodes of Scrubs and you know other
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: projects that you've been the start of, who directs you
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: when you're in the scene. And I don't mean like
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: here's your mark, here's your siteline. I mean like you
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: finish a take with Donald and there and you know,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: I'm sure you're not like Donald, you know, a little
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: bit less and uh you know Judy, Uh you know
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: that what seemed a little whiny and mean no note,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: you know, like who's behind It's a very good question.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: It's a very good question. Um. So I'll just use
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: the Scrubs example. There'd be the writer of the episode.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: In this case it's Mike Schwartz, and he would be
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: sitting behind the monitor. Bill of course, would come to
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: the very first rehearsal of every scene and he would
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: watch it. He'd watch my blocking. He he didn't care
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: too much about where the where the camera was for
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: the specific director and especially when he trusted them, but
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: he but he was basically blocking them. And most importantly,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: as the showrunner writer, are the jokes playing and when
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: the jokes weren't playing, he'd tweaked them or rewrite them,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: and so he would see and he'd go, oh, so
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: he could give me a note and he'd be like,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: you know, when you do that line with Donald, you
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: gotta have more energy because of X, Y and C,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: and I go, got it, got it, And then he'd
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: go off to go write with the writers. The writer
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: of that particular episode would stay on set at the monitors,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: So very often I would when the camera's on me
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: and I'm directing, I would then obviously you can tell
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: if the crew's laughing, if I'm if I'm in a
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: scene when Donald and I'm making him laugh, I'm feeling
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: good about it. On my weeks, we would have playback.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: We wouldn't always have playback because so time suck, but
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: when I'm directing, I would have the ability to go
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: back and play back the take and go, Okay, that
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: was good, let's move on. So I do need to
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: be able to play back the video and then I
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: would just check in with who whatever writer it was.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: But you know, one thing I got good at was
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: was kind of sensing when I did Garden. When I
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Garden set, wish I was here being on camera and
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: directing myself. You kind of just start to get a
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: sense of like, I know when I'm good, I know
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: when I suck, I know when I felt weird, I
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: didn't like I mean, do you just get to the
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: point where you can be really honest with yourself and
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: know when you're not in your rhythm? But you maybe
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: need that writer or that a d or someone to
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: be for you to be like was that too big
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: and for them to be like, yeah, that was too big.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: You definitely need a producer type who you trust, who's fun,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: who's a good writer, I think end or a first
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: ads director or sometimes the cinematographer. I've had a great
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: relationship with who's who whispering your ear something that really
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: that really helps because I've had times where I went
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: where I did Like on Alex Sink I remember doing
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: like a really funny take and I'm directing. I think
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: it's good, but I'm a little secure about it, and
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: I go to the I'm excited. I think sort of
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: like walking back to the monitors and no one's there
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: and I'm like this, I don't like this feels like
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: tight rob walking without without a net because I don't know.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: I need fucking help, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: So I think that that I much prefer it when
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: I have people I trust that I think that's good. Yeah.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: The great thing about my favorite thing about acting directing
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: is that I can steer the scene from within. So
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: if I if in my opinion, I want Donald to
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: be anged turk Donald to be angrier in this moment,
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna fucking come Adam harder. I'm gonna be more
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: aggressive with my lines because I'm trying to steer him
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: from within the scene to get more riled up just
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: or or or like when you want funnier lines or
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: something like that. The great thing about you know, you
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: would do it as an actor too, but Bill would
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: have a certain set of jokes and then you would
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: have like five more and you'd be like, just run
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: them off, and it would be great because you would
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: get performances out of us where it was like we
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: would give we trusted you enough because we thought you
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: were funny enough. Also, your scope and your visual was what.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: We trusted that enough also that we were like, yeah, man,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: whatever you want us to say, we're gonna say that shit.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: So we'd get to the end of scenes or we
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: get to punchlines and stuff like that, and Zach would
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: throw new punch lines in and you trust it and
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: go with it because of the fact you know that
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: you you've seen what he's done. And also he was
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: just so confident in doing it so okay when you
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: say you know, he's like, He's like, uh, this is
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: a noe for you. This is the noe for you
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: and none for me. Even if a director does even
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: if the director is acting and he does do that,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: the confidence that he's showing in the situation makes you
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: more trustworthy. Now it's not my place because I'm not
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: directing to say to the director or to another actor,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I think you should do it this way. I think
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: you're doing it wrong. But because he directed so many episodes,
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: we got used to it. Man. I think the first
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: episode I felt a little weird, but then after that
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: it was like, dude, whatever you want, Zach. So I
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: think that's kind of an a testament if I may
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: like to compliment, like the kind of examples that you
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: have been for positive male relationships and mature, you know,
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: open men together, but also like there's a lot of egos.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: I don't imagine that that's always the case when suddenly
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: your co star and in your real life best friend
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: are coming out and they're suddenly kind of in this
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: status change, you know, for you to just like take
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: a note and not just swallow it, but like appreciate
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: it and trust with that. Well. And also I would
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: say that he was rooting for me. I mean, he's
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: my best friend and he was stoked for me. He
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: was the opposite of an ego because he was like,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: this is so cool you're directing, you know. That was
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: the fun. And Johnny c too, I should say, And
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: I mean at the whole cast, never everyone. I've been
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: asked this before and I think I've answered it, but
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: I'll say again, when I started directing the show, there
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: wasn't a single bit they were all all rooting for me.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: They were all excited for me. Bill of course was
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: a competitive motherfucker. But the rap because he was a
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: little like, Okay, here's the hardest episode we've ever made,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: but which I won't fucking mention the zip line episode.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: You did you already? Did you already know? I didn't
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: mention it. I didn't mention it now on my fucking
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Twitter feed, no matter why I write people like, oh,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: is this the episode about the zip line? Right? Fuck
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: you guys, But no, everyone was rooting for me and
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: everyone was supportive, and uh, I loved it. I loved
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: it so much because, um, you know, Donald and I
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: can make each other laugh so so quickly and easily.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: So when he's doing his when he if he's got
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: a big joke and I'm cracking up, and then we're
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: in the zone together and like, oh, do another taken
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: and say this, and then he's willing to try it.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: You know, it's it's it's so much fun. It's it
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: was amazing. It Also it also feels like, uh, Scorsese
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: and de Niro or Scorsese and Puccino, you know what
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I mean. It's like not that we're on that level
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: or we are. Donald say will tell us that tell
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: us that we are. But it's like, you know, Scorsese
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: puts his friends in the movie. He's not putting them
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: in the movie to make them fall flat on their face,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And so when Zach is
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: giving you direction and everything when we're shooting, he's not
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: doing it because he wants to get through the day.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: He wants you to shine just like everyone else. He
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: wants everything to be perfect, you know. And so yeah,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: where there are people that come into a situation like
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: this and they're just like, let's just get the lines
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: right and everybody and we can move on. I just
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: want to tell my story and that's it, whereas zach
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Is wants to tell his story, but he's also open
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: to you expressing yourself in the piece. Yeah, great question, Kate,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: you have another one since we like you so much. Oh,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: you're You're so nice. Actually, I would like to tell
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: you just why I actually reached out to Joel if
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: I could, because I just think it's crazy because I
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: don't believe out in signs unless they work out for me.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: But I right, but there's not enough time in the day.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: I was doing one of my hiding from my family errands,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: listening to the latest episode and errand I happened to
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: be doing was I was returning some scrubs to a
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: store that my husband had ordered online that were comically
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: large on him because you know, we're all trying to
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: order online and it sucks we have no idea, like
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: you know. And so I was listening to your podcast
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: returning scrubs and when I walked into the uniform city
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: store that sells the scrubs the song Everywhere by Michelle
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Branch O your anthem, and it was like, listen, we
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: were gonna. I thought I had her on the hook.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: We were we were twitter dmy I said, would you
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: come on the show? She goes sure, and I go,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: would you play Everywhere live on acoustic? And she's like
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: the dots came up and then they went away. And
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I was like, that's like when you're off fishing and
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: read dog, I haven't cast again. I feel like I
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: read YO left you on Red? Isn't it left you
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: on Red? Same shit? Red spelled the same way Dog?
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Where at least I can at least I can brag
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: them Michelle branch left me on Red. That's true, that's true.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: And now I let people that and it was like
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: right like Zach, it was right at the like yeah,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: you know the key change, like the huge key change,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: and I was like, oh god, this is a sign.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: So I like asked Joel if it was a sign,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: and she got back to me. I was like, I
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: guess so, because I never do things like this, I'm like,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: I never win a raffle. I never win in anything.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: No one picks me like and as I can't believe
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: I'm actually you're gonna win, Joel. Can we give her
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: some free ship? No? No, I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean no, are you so anti
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: free s No? Because she blamed me for the unlatching
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: of her kid episode I purposely never I heard you
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: say that shit you said, and I know breastfeed while
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: listening motherfucking loud. You even said, because Donald's too motherfucking loud.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I heard you. You said it to my wife. You
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: ever said to my wife. You even said it to
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: my wife. Can I use that golden produce? Got bold?
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: And you said it to my wife. You ain't getting ship, dlinskisk,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: you get jack Ship. You're getting too loud now said
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: good day. You're getting too loud now. Ariolas all over
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: the world are publishing on the You're actually making me
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: like you're making my milk let. I'm gonna strip like work,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Oh my god, work, because I'm so sweaty and upset now,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Oh my god, I don't know if you're allowed to
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: say that the jack you guys told people to wipe
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: their balloon knots with your yes. Yes, rebably Donald's not mine.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: Say whatever I want about my own breast milk. Ya
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: see did you see Cardi Bees? Yes, Cardi beans nipples?
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: What you mean in the video? No, Cardi Bee just
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: had a nipple slip. Did you guys see this on Instagram?
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: I don't heard about it, but I did not do it.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: I did appreciate in the WAP video the fountains with
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: us spring and in our house a big thing that
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: we sing to our ten month old or ten ten
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: week old excuse me song? No, honestly, Zac, I feel
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: like a horrible human being. But instead of the hook
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: the way it is in the song, we sing, there's
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: some babies in this house. Now my daughter has started,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: she'll be like doing plato and she'll be like, there's
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: some mamas in this house there. Oh my, hey, do
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: you take ye? Would you like? I do? I love? Okay,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: let's send her some g I love it and I
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: love I love the like the plainest most like you know,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: like the ginger that you know I love. I love
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: I've been drinking this um this one right here, Peter,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: you got this one done? Oh yeah, that's my jam. Yeah,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Will I finished my martini. Okay, we will send you
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: some GTS kombucha, and we will send you some GTS
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Aqua Keefer. Yes, for being such a wonderful guest. We
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: gotta go, though, I think right, we gotta go because
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: we have Chase Serrano who's not getting nearly enough attention
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: on this fucking episode. No, this is great for me.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: I got it, I got my stuff off. She has
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: been replaced by Ariola talk. I don't like that. Boy.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: You've been a great guest, Kate. We're gonna send you
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: a whole bunch of GTS kombucha and um and and
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: and have a good date night. For God's sakes, have
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: a good date night. Thank you, thank you. Sing. There's
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: some babies in this house. There's some babies in There's
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: some babies in this south. Give it up for Kate.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: K this house, in this house, there's some babies in
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: this house. Okay, okay, by Kate Zelinski. He's a great
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: guest for a lot. She was very articulate and smart
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: and quick witted. I liked her. Well, guys, let's talk
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: more about the show Scrubs. That's why we have a
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: fancy Chase Rono gift. I'm sorry, sorry, go to break
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: first and then come back, Joe, Well, I don't like
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: to go to breaks. Okay, sorry, audience members were going
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: along today, so we'll be taking a break and we'll
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: be right back. Dorians loved them a fart joke, man.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: I say this every time one of the Dorian family
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: members is on the show. But you yeah, I don't.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: I only like good fart jokes. I don't like these
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: fart jokes. I didn't think these were impressive fart jokes
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: in this show. They were trying to harmonize their farts.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: What's not funny about that? What's not funny about that? Dude?
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: They took the show on the road. They cut to
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: the audience and all the audience have their T shirts
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: up above their noses. So embarrassing. Um. Scott Rabbidou who
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: was my stand in, and Kati Ortiz, who was Judy's
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: stand in, both have a line. Finally, in this episode,
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: if around five thirty eight, when Kelsea comes in to
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: tell everyone not to moonlight. Uh, they're the two they're
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: the nurse and the doctor I believe who who have
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: a line saying what they do to moonlight? Um? At
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: the hospital. So there you go. And how funny was
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Sam Lloyd trying on the wig? Yeah you didn't see that.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: Now let's talk about my black by Popular Demand shirt
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: loaned by Turk. I'm also going to do RAG. I
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: don't know if I do that in twenty twenty. Thank
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: you for letting me where this man. The sisters are
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: loving it. Should you say Charmaine even called me a cracker? No,
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: I said it innocently like Charmaine even called me a cracker. No,
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: you said it with some platitude. You said the whole
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: thing with some attitude. It's like, thanks for letting me bow.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna this is what I This is how I
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: heard you say it. Thanks for letting me bow the
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: shirt play it. This is loving it. Charmin even call
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: me a cracker. I definitely didn't do that. I would
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: also like to say that I would not wear a
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: do rag and a black Bipopular Demand T shirt now,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: But for the story point for those of you, it
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: was T shirt on loan to me. I wish you
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: still had that shirt. Donald, you would rock that. I
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: would wear that shirt right now with it without hesitation.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: And then you go. You end the scene by saying,
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: now check the ball cracker, Now check the ball cracker. Yeah.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: That was the first monologue I ever had on the
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: show like that. And I remember I think her name
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: was Sharon Liggins. It's Sharon Liggins. She was our NBRC rep, yeah,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: pr NBC person maybe yeah. And she was on the
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: set that day and she was like, you know, she
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: gave me a little pep talk before it, like you know,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: we you know, I want to see a shine on
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: this show, so you know, I that we could cut
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: this out because I don't know. No, I don't want
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: to cut it out. I like where it's going go.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: She was, She said, she said something to the network
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: like we need to give Donald more stuff to say
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: as an African American and she was an African American
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: woman and she was an African American woman and uh.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: And she was like, and this is why you have
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: this monologue. And I was like, holy shit. And I've
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: never asked around her, asked and You're like, I had
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: to go memorize this ship, dude, I and I you're
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: absolutely right. I did say that shit. In my head.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: I was like, oh shit, I better memorize this shit.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: And I remember when we were doing it. I remember
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: feeling like, oh, I didn't nail it. I didn't quite
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: nail it. But then when I watched it back today,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: it's you know, I'm not saying that I'm great in it,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: but I definitely you definitely understand what the fuck I'm
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: talking about, you know what I mean. And that's and
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: that's a that's a big deal for me. Like sometimes
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: I watch my stuff. It's rare that I watched myself,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: but when I do, the one problem I have is
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: am I delivering the lines in the way that people
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: can understand where I'm coming from and what I'm saying.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: And this was one of those moments where it I
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: felt like I was and it just so happened to
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: be one of those moments where an African American woman
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: in the NBC arena stepped up for me and was said,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: you know, I think Donald needs more monologues on this show.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: That's cool. Shout out to Sharon's Yeah, David Vanney's studio
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: array now, which is okay, Yes, Sharon Lincolns, shout out, yeah,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: Sharon Lincolns. I mean making a difference. You can see
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: behind the scenes making a difference, and uh, and that's
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: a great story. I never knew Donald's. You just taught
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: me Donald Phazon scrubs anecdote even I didn't know. Well,
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: those are one of those things that you you don't
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: really talk, you don't brag about, you know, stuff like that. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: you just do it. And she did a great story
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: about It's a great story about her and and her
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: her and her character and what she was trying to
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: do with the network. Well she's fired, man, She's like
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: she's she was always she always looked out from the
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: gate um. Now. The dog that's Ken's dog was Ken's
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: real dog, Australian shepherd. It's name was Pal, his name
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: was pal and Um and it was the smartest dog.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: I mean, Ken had this dog so well trained. Australian
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: Shepherds are known for being super intelligent, but this was
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: like the best trained dog. I mean Ken could be
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: like Pal, go get the blue toy in the other room,
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: and the dog would go and like, choose from ten
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: toys the blue toy. I mean it was amazing. Not
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: only that he's calling the dog Baxter, and the dog
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: is responding to Baxter so well. He probably he probably
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: the night before was like hey man, tomorrow, I'm gonna
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: call you Baxter and the dogs like O. But this
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: this all scene it made me sad because maybe miss
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: Sam Lloyd. But this whole scene where Sam the lawyer
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: is competing with the dog boxter is so funny. It's
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: really funny. That's the funniest part of this episode. Yes,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: I agree, I agree. Um, Baxter won't so so he
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: goes up so um. Someone says to him, Ted, you
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: don't have to do this competition with the dog, and
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: he's shut up. I can win this. Uh. And then
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: and then later as he comes running in, he goes
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: Baxter won't get out of my chair. Who knew Elliott
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: was scared of domesticated animals, dude, cats, No, just any
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: domestic gun. When she walks in, there's a pig and
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: she's like, but, I mean, doesn't some bullshit. I don't
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: think any doctors are moonlighting his vets. It's not the
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: same it's not the same thing. I don't think it's
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: as hard as a heart. I don't think it's I
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: don't think it's the same thing. How about how the
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: janitor doesn't know where the emergency room is. Yeah, that
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: jumps out. They really didn't. They really didn't give Neil
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: a lot to do in this episode, he has he
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: has one moment where where Tom Cavanaugh hurts him, and
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: then he asked where the emergency room is? Um, how
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: about Kelso revealing he's got a side hustle side, he
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: got a little side piece. He's got a little side.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: I have a real question here because and and I'm
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: sorry if it's gone over my head. And we've and
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: we've talked about it over and over again, and I
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: get the Dan to screw up in everything, But why
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: is JD so hard on Dan? Like he's so hard
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: on this. Dan's been horrible to JD. Jan Dan has
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: stolen girlfriends from him. I mean, doesn't he's gonna go
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: on to steal doesn't he date Elliott? That happened already,
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: That didn't it didn't happen yet. No, Okay, Dan's a
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: horrible brother. I mean He's done some really horrible shit.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: I think Jad's embarrassed because Dan's doesn't do anything. He
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: lives at home and complains about his mom. And I mean, Shay,
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: you might you might have more to say on this.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: I think he's I think he's embarrassed and his brother
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: is constantly screwing him over. Yeah, that all that all
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: feels exactly right. That's the same read I got on it.
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: He was just when you're I think, when you're the
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: younger sibling, if you feel like you have leap from
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: over the older one part of you is excited about that,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: and also part of you is like kind of mad
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: about it. Why why do I have to be the
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: one who's doing all of this? Why can't you you
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: do some shit too? Why does it always have to
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: be me? And then you know, he hints at that
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: the thing about him being mad from their childhood when
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Dan wasn't there for him, Like that's just all sort
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: of coming out all at once in this episode feels
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: like right. But then it makes it makes it, It
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: makes your point even better at the end. Was Dan
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: really there for him this old time? But only in
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: behind the scenes, you know what I mean? You know,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: that's a great point. I like that you said that, Shay.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: And in the spirit of Kai Zalinski's question about when
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: I'm um, how I judge my own acting, I'm going
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: to say that I think that the actor Zach was
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: good in that scene where I confronted Dan I was,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: I would have said, good job. I think that was good. Oh,
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: right on, I'll agree with that. No, I think it
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: was a good scene between the don't I don't think that.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Watching it twenty years later, sometimes I go, what the
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: fuck you doing? Well, there's some moments, right, that was
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: a good scene between us. I liked it. Well, it's
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: a great scene because when he does what it makes
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: what he does for you so much more powerful. So
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: absolutely that message has to be there. You said something
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: earlier that I thought was really amazing and that you know,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Bill would when Kate was on that Bill would come
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: up and he would tell you why you have to
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: have more energy on jokes and everything like that. And
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: it's something that we talk about always, how you know
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: these storyline how storylines connect through the shows and everything.
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: It's really you know, Bill is really good at setting
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: up moments like that, moments like Dan and Cox at
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: the end. Everything, every this whole show is built for
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: that one moment at the end, you know what I mean?
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: And um, that's that's something to be that, that's something
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: to be said because that means that this was this
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: wasn't written And then he was like and then at
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: the end. It feels just me personally, and I could
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: be wrong about this, and maybe this is a nice
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: Bill situation, but it feels like this episode was originally
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: this is the episode where we learn Dan is a
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: whole lot more than what we think he is. Now,
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: let's write that story, you know what I mean. That's
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: what it feels like, because that moment at the end
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: of this show is so important for everything that happens
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: after this. You know, it's not like what she was
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: saying like it makes it makes us question for the
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: first time how much how much Dan is doing some
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: you know, odds behind the curtain work that could have
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: gotten JD exactly where he is. Yeah, I like the
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: thing that happens where every so often they will like
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: poke a hole in doctor Cox, because this episode starts
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: with them with with JD doing the pickles thing, messing
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: with the patients, mister Bober, and then doctor Cox scares him,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: well did I catch you mocking this patient? And JD
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: scared and he's like, oh, like you know, I've never
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: been more proud of you, and they kind of share
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: a moment there and divide into the show. We realize like, okay,
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: doctor Cox has misread this situation here because doctor Cox
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: is a is a prick for a lot of the
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: time with a lot of the patients, but he's always
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: doing it in a way that lets you know he
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: cares a great, great deal. And j D still is
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: his third year or the third season anyway, he's not
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: quite ready to operate at that level yet. He can't
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: do that. But you can't do those two things at
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: the same time. He can't, right, He's trying it on,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: he's trying it, and doctor Cox is like, oh cool,
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: you can do it. And Dan is like, he's not
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: ready yet, and that's like and also like you can
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: be a cynical bastard, but this this, this is a
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: kid still relatively and he's wide eyed and he's you know,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: don't make him. You don't rush him to it. If
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: he becomes you in in twenty years, then so be it,
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: but don't rush him to that, you know. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: it's a it's a similar thing, like a bigger stakes
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: thing than like I have a with three three sons,
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: the youngest one to seven, and every once in a
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: while he'll say like a cuss word, and I think
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: it's the funniest thing in the world, and Laramie is like,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: he can cuss when he's older. I get that, you
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: think it's funny, but it's like, don't rush him into that.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: He'll get there when he needs to get there. And
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: then I always feel like a jerk afterward, and I'm like, yeah,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: you're right here, exactly right. I can't believe dude, I
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: think it's the funniest shit. Can you tell him what
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: your daughter said? We can cut it out if you
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: don't want to use Yeah, no, we can use it.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: So when so because she said it to Florence, I
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: think no, she gets when she gets hurt or if
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: something hurts. Dude. I'm talking about when she came over
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: my house and Florence said, how is the car ride
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: or something? And do you remember this story? No? What
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: did she say? I don't know. She's gonna say he's
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: driving like a stupid ass motherfucker. Yeah, And Florence was like,
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: She's like, how was the car ride over? My dad
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: was doing driving crazy? Oh well, what did you tell
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: him you were upset? Yeah? I said he was a
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: stupid ass motherfucker. She used it the right way, She
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: used it the right way. Yeah, here's here's one that's
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: really funny. So I have an eighteen year old nineteen
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: year old son, right, and so he said, he's really
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: into the office right now and stuff. So he says,
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: dumb shit around the boy who's seven, Like, that's what
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: she said. Yeah, And so my son doesn't know necessarily
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: how that's what she said works. So Casey was like,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: dang man, somebody used to wash these dishes. And Rock
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: will be like, that's what she said. Who right, whose
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: water is this? That's what she said, little dumb stupid
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: ass motherfucker. We're we're all most done, I think, right, guys,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: I wanted to uh, I wanted to play you one
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: video real quick that's on the internet and it's a
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: it's a very funny woman who's inspiring you all to
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: vote and to make sure you stay in line. Did
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: you see this on My My Stories Donald the woman
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: I didn't. I did with the one that's sitting down
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: in the chair and how she's Yeah, I'm gonna play
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: it for you. It's a woman. It's a very funny woman,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: and she's uh getting ready to get in line to vote,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: and she's encouraging. She's she's been online, she's been waiting.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I don't know what her situation is, but halfway through
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: the video she when she starts cutting to it, she
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: cuts to her chair and her cooler, and I just
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: want to play you this woman because I think she's
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: an inspiration and you should listen to what she says.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: All right, hold on here she is. Hold on, Okay, guys,
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: I know I'm holding here, And get my jush. I
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: got my close hair on, I got my savage clothes on.

- 1:32:13Speaker 1: there for fifteen hours. I got him, they can stand
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: out there for twenty four hours. I got my snacks painting.

- 1:32:28Speaker 1: So there you go. I don't know what judge means,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: but it means fucking go vote probably, no matter what
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: you gotta do, right guys, Yeah, yeah, man, support um

- 1:33:04Speaker 1: honest with you, Zach. I don't like how you beginning
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: a puffy chest with me, like you want to do something?
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: Do you want to wrestle? Do you want to come

- 1:33:31Speaker 1: according to Shay, there's many Mexicans who would love that offen. Yeah,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: if you want to smoke weed and wrestle with me?
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: At me? Donald underscore aison on Instagram. All right, Shaye
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: and tell us about your podcast that you have going

- 1:33:48Speaker 1: it's wherever you get podcast. It's a movie podcast. Basically,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: all we do is we take one central theme and
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: then me and the co host Jason Concepts you on
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: each pick a movie that touches on that theme. So
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: it could be like, Okay, this week's theme is find
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: a movie where somebody's having relationship troubles, and we're like, okay, cool,
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: Clueless and Garden State Boom's. Now we're going to talk
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: about those two movies through this lens. Right on. We
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: talked about La La Land earlier. Is that one of
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: the movies that you've ever did you guys ever do
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: that one? Oh? We haven't done that one yet, but
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: that's really really good. Donald only wants to tune in
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: Shay when you do La La Land. Listen Nobody. Shay,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: as you know from listening you guys say, can talk
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: about movies and TV in such an amazing, interesting, articulate way.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: So check out his podcast, although don't listen to it
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: before you listen to ours. Another thing I want to
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: mention that I think is cool if you're a creative person.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Adobe Max is a big creativity conference is happening the
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: twentieth to the twenty second. I only know about this
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: because I'm one of the speakers, and I'm telling you
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: because it's free. Normally this is a paid thing, but
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: this year, because of life being what it is, the
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: good folks of Adobe have made it free. So it's
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: all sorts of presentations and speeches and cool things you'd
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: get at a creativity conference, but free. So go to
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Adobe max dot com to define that. Because and also
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: you can watch my video because I I give out
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: some little pearls of wisdom. I think you're teaching about film, Zach,
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: what are we learning? I'm auditioning to be a film professor. No,
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: I speak about the creative process a bit, and I
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I don't know, I hopefully inspire a bit. I videotaped
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: it already, it's already. It's um. Lastly, I just want
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: to talk about merch. We you know, Donald and I
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: got made fun of for having shitty merch, so we
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: went all out. Now we've got all sorts of ship
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: there's hoodies, there's t shirts and different colors. There's a dish,
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: there's a washcloth that was meant for you to take
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: in the shower. But I posted on on Instagram a
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: young woman used it at her as her dish towel.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: It's it's hanging over the handle of her stove, so
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: you can also use it as your dish towel. We
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: got a lot of good shit coming, sho I'd tell
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: me we got coming down. Let's get let's get into it.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: We got for the holiday season. We've got wrapping paper
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: or a coming that's smart, that's a smart one. We
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: got ornaments, we got we got pop sockets boom, we
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: got pop sockets coming, you're aware. And my favorite item
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: that I don't think we ordered enough of, definitely, but
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: we'll find out. We have. We have Zach and Donald's
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: onesiest way, those are flying out of here. Yeah, well
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: we had to. We had to decide how many to order,
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: and Donald and I were like, I don't know how
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: many we should or I mean like, I don't know
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: how many people buy this, And then I don't think
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: we ordered enough because I think they'll be popular because
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: everyone in my family wants them. But anyway, that's our merch.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: So don't think we don't have good merch now, and
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: don't make fun of us for having shitty merch because
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: we got into it. Oh and you find the merch
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: sorry by going to cotton Bureau dot com and searching
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: for fake doctors real friends. Um, I thought we could
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: end the show with Josh Raiden because we've never done that.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: Donald all this time, we've never played a Josh Raiden song.
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: We were waiting Josh Raiden was gonna be on the
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: show to play a song. That's silly. We're gonna ask
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: Josh Raiden to play a song live when he's on
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: maybe maybe if we're if we were good podcast producers,
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: we would have him play Winter. We would have him
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: play Winter on My screw Up at the end of
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: My screw Up. That's what we should do, right, So
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: which song should we have Josh Raiden played? Well, you
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: and I I think have the I think you and
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: I have the same favorite Josh Raiden song. I have
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: a couple of favorite Josh Raiden songs, but I think
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: you and I have the same most favorite. Which one
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: is that paperweight? Fucke? Dude? You know me? All right?
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: Listen next week Tara Reid on the show, guys read Sharknado.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: We're gonna get some good stories from Tara Reid. She
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: plays a scientist and Sharknado. Tara Reid will be on
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: the show next Yes and Tara Reid. Tara Reid's got
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: a lot of always always when we were shooting, had
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: a lot of funny anecdotes, so she'll bring him and
