- 0:14Not only am I joined by my beautiful and remarkable and
- 0:18delightful Co host say that I did another week, but I'm also
- 0:21joined by our dear brother, our producer and the man behind the
- 0:28the magic said most about Hosseini and say all the other
- 0:31ways you're not Shake hands.
- 0:46Yeah, you guys, bro. In your hands in this episode.
- 0:49Ahmed doesn't get that. I'll, I'll give you a nice face,
- 0:51quick. Yeah.
- 0:53What's going on, boys? How are we?
- 0:55How are we, honestly? Hamdullah.
- 0:59Well, I'm really tired. Why you always?
- 1:01Why? Why?
- 1:03Well, I came back from how long was my shoot 8:00 AM till I
- 1:08finished at 8:00 PM. Twelve hour shoot.
- 1:10And I started it. It's fine.
- 1:11Then I have to come here and then there's no episode ready
- 1:14for tomorrow. Now that much about.
- 1:16Come on. Yeah, we said that.
- 1:18Yeah, that's correct. We forced you on the couch.
- 1:20What time is it right now? Yeah, it's after. 1:00 AM and my
- 1:25shoot starts again at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning.
- 1:27But. We've gone from now, love.
- 1:28Bless you we've. Gone from after Mahreb too,
- 1:30after midnight. You see that I.
- 1:33Got to drop that. It's like.
- 1:35All right, guys, today we're we're going to have a bit more
- 1:37of a laid out podcast. If you were tuning in last week,
- 1:40you'll know that we talked about the World Cup coming up during
- 1:44the Muharram season. We had Iraq's number 9, Ali Al
- 1:47Hamadi, who was on the podcast, and we spoke a lot about what it
- 1:51means to be a Shiite on this day and age.
- 1:53And then obviously in the coming weeks, we have a lot happening.
- 1:55We've got a Haj season, we have Ida Khadir, we have Wafat and
- 1:59Shahadat of Ayam Ayam Salaam. And then of course, as we get
- 2:03closer to the Khadir Mubahala period, then we enter Muharram.
- 2:06So I think now is like our last opportunity really to have just
- 2:10a chill, a chill. So today's going to be a.
- 2:13Chill all the posts about Hamadi getting his visa denied.
- 2:16Yeah, I spoke to him today. That's not true.
- 2:18Yeah, that's what he said. It's clear the rumours.
- 2:20He told me fake news and. Yeah, I think you said a few
- 2:23other things. Big for you to bring this up
- 2:25because Iraqis are going crazy. About there's interviews that
- 2:28have come out from, I don't know who, like some official Iraqi
- 2:31officials. The guy's getting angry at the
- 2:34journalist. What did I tell you?
- 2:35Bro. He's got the visa.
- 2:37That's hilarious. Like what's?
- 2:39Up so. So they've all got the visa.
- 2:41He goes, bro, can't you hear what I'm saying?
- 2:43I'm like Iraqis are are cartoons.
- 2:47Yeah, man. All right, Sid, I know you
- 2:49wanted to to go through some questions.
- 2:51I did. Have you got any planned or
- 2:53shall I? I have Sid Hamdullah.
- 2:56We've we've had an amazing few years together here after
- 3:02Magleb. You know, it's been almost four
- 3:04years. June comes four years, right?
- 3:06That's why. This is our anniversary.
- 3:08So I've I've pretty much no new offset onset while I drive home
- 3:14on the phone call whoever is Hamdulillah, there's always
- 3:16communication between myself and you.
- 3:18But I don't want me I. I grew up with you.
- 3:21Say it. But we started.
- 3:22Sounds like a break up with me bro.
- 3:24It sounds. Like right now we're focused on
- 3:27just the project, but I don't know Ahmed much before the
- 3:30project. Not, yeah, not to.
- 3:34Not to a great depth. Yeah, correct.
- 3:36Yeah, and that's what I want to know.
- 3:37Yeah. I don't know much about your
- 3:39childhood. How are you as a child?
- 3:41Oh, my God. I didn't know we're doing this.
- 3:43They were doing this. How was I?
- 3:44Yeah. What do you want to know?
- 3:47Yeah. He was a road man in Kingsbury.
- 3:50There's the winter going to that phasal.
- 3:52No, no, like your earliest memories, your childhood.
- 3:58Well. To be very honest with you, I
- 4:01compartmentalise a lot as a person.
- 4:03So for example, when I think about different elements of my
- 4:05childhood, I have different memories.
- 4:07You know me, I could write it, I could speak for an hour on on
- 4:10each memory. So without going into too much
- 4:12depth, I think I had a pretty privileged childhood.
- 4:15Hamdallah. I had siblings which I was close
- 4:21in age to my older brother. I had two younger sisters.
- 4:24I had two loving parents and a loving grandmother and we all
- 4:26lived together having the loves were raised in in a good
- 4:29community. Obviously my my mosque and all
- 4:32of that involvement. My parents went through a lot
- 4:35and put put their, their own preferences 2nd and and their
- 4:40children and of course, looking after my grandmother as a
- 4:43priority. So I think that instilled for me
- 4:46at a young age the need to look after your immediate circle and
- 4:50prioritize them. Community service is 1, but
- 4:53charity begins at home. So I think for me, Al Hamdallah,
- 4:56that was like a nice just to summarize, obviously I was, I
- 4:59was a disruptive child. To be very honest, I think
- 5:02you're probably not surprised the juice was coming up.
- 5:04Nah, no juice, no juice. I was disruptive.
- 5:06I was, I, I, I wouldn't say I was like a bad kid, but I was, I
- 5:10was, yeah, man, I, I, I changed school a lot.
- 5:15I went to many schools. I, I got in trouble.
- 5:20No different reasons, different reasons really, to be honest.
- 5:23But mainly I was, yeah, I was a good kid, but I had, I struggled
- 5:28with my attention, but I was always like doing well in school
- 5:33but slacking with my work ethic. But Hamdullah, I worked on that
- 5:36and I'm still obviously working on that.
- 5:38Yeah, but what about you, my ask?
- 5:41Can I ask in verse? You can ask me.
- 5:43You can ask Mustaba. Mustaba, at what age did you
- 5:46realize that you were the the the H?
- 5:48DMIK. The, you know, say Mustaba
- 5:52wasn't born with an umbilical cord, he was born with an HDMI.
- 5:56Cable. At those years it was VGA
- 5:57cables. At what age did you realize that
- 6:02you wanted to pursue a life in Hidma?
- 6:08Hedma or media? Hedma through media are.
- 6:11They separate you. I don't know, I think we like we
- 6:17were all raised in a culture of Hedma.
- 6:19The Mike's here, bro. No, yeah, we were like as as a
- 6:25Karbala a culture. You're raised through Hedma
- 6:27regardless, like you. It's just if you're not going to
- 6:31the same year you're doing at home, if you're not doing at
- 6:33home, you're doing at your grandparents house or whatever.
- 6:37It's just a matter of finding what what what you do to serve
- 6:40your community, your religion, your family, whatever it is.
- 6:45For me it was media. I think when I went to uni
- 6:51initially I I joined uni with doing maths and IT with the
- 6:56intention of IT being that sort of maybe going into a
- 7:00professional in media. But funnily enough, I dropped
- 7:03out of IT and done maths and then I thought I'd left the
- 7:08whole media scene behind after that until after uni I just
- 7:13managed to land a job in media. And since then it's just been
- 7:18growing like exponentially. Like you're doing jobs after
- 7:21jobs and then like sometimes you're doing jobs.
- 7:24You're like, how did I even get here?
- 7:25Like you're working with the biggest directors in the Middle
- 7:27East or you're working with the like you're doing a a show for
- 7:31Bass and Kabbalahi or you're doing whatever.
- 7:35And then, yeah, just you. Just you know, there's a Hadid
- 7:38of minimal manin Alayhi Salaam where he says the worth of a
- 7:42person is according to what he excels in Nacho Balaka.
- 7:46So when you look at like your field or even for you say it in
- 7:50your field, like your headma and your your, your specialization
- 7:55in the field of what you do in the eyes of the Imam is worth a
- 7:59lot because you're excelling in a certain field.
- 8:01And that's not just professionalism and reaching
- 8:04like a level of excellence in a certain field.
- 8:07Also, you're doing that for the sake of God.
- 8:09Do you know what I mean? So like, that's the best thing I
- 8:12think we can do. I remember when, when when we
- 8:15were young serving, we used to read forums or Facebook
- 8:19comments, whatever. And there was one comment that
- 8:21sticks with me like till today. It's like don't try and get into
- 8:24everything or don't try and do the most work.
- 8:27Just try and be the best at your position in your role.
- 8:30So if you're, if you're the accountant or if you're the
- 8:32lawyer, if you're the media guy, or if you're, I don't know,
- 8:36cleaning up the mosque, just be the best at that.
- 8:38You don't need to force yourself into the tea room.
- 8:41You don't need to get into cooking or lecturing.
- 8:44Just find what what you're needed for and what you're good
- 8:46at and be the best in your community in that.
- 8:49I sent, I sent. So, Ali, can I ask you a
- 8:52question? Please.
- 8:54I want to ask you, I'm not going to ask you, like, deep
- 8:57psychoanalytical questions. Yeah, I'm just going to ask you,
- 9:00like, random questions if there is a person alive today and I'd
- 9:05like, of course we know Mum and Mahdi, OK.
- 9:07But I'm talking about, for example, like normal humans.
- 9:10Yeah. OK.
- 9:10Who would you want to have dinner most with?
- 9:14And Buffy? Who would I want to have dinner
- 9:19with? Yeah, after me much excluding
- 9:25us. It's not difficult, but maybe
- 9:34breakfast. Do you understand the question?
- 9:38You said dinner. No, wait, no.
- 9:40Who's one person that is your dream to sit and have dinner
- 9:44with them? Yeah.
- 9:45So instead of dinner, breakfast. Yeah, but.
- 9:48Who imagine now? Who you having a meal with he?
- 9:50He can't imagine having a team of any other than what we need.
- 9:52He wants to have avocado and toast with him.
- 9:57Poached eggs? What's that thing called Eggs
- 10:00Benedict? That's probably St.
- 10:01Ali's egg Benedict. Fancy a restaurant?
- 10:03Or. Something no, in all
- 10:06seriousness, I think if there was 11 human being I can have a
- 10:14good conversation with all for dinner, I think it will be said
- 10:17that Mohammed Roger Shirazi. Interesting, that was a very.
- 10:20Man, God bless us all, But I mean today, yeah.
- 10:25Is he not Shahid? No, he's alive to me.
- 10:28OK, Masha'allah, How about someone who's accessible to you?
- 10:31I mean accessible like someone who you'd potentially run into.
- 10:34I mean, someone who'd likely meet, but there's a chance you'd
- 10:37meet, say, Ali. Favour just say most of Raswini
- 10:40just. Say most of our Kaswini 100% say
- 10:43most of our he. He can live with him for weeks.
- 10:45That's true. I think non-stop talking.
- 10:47Yeah, that's true. You know, so most of our
- 10:49kaswini, we go way back. I mean, for those who worked or
- 10:55no of a little bit TV many, many years ago, that's where I sort
- 10:58of got into a huge relationship and handled until today with the
- 11:02say it and the and and what was beautiful about I would say the
- 11:06friendship like I would say it say it.
- 11:09Most of it is that he became like a father figure for me
- 11:11after the passing of my father. There was always communication
- 11:15between us two. There was always advice that
- 11:17he'd give me and a lot of things I've done now in my life when I
- 11:21go back and think, how did I come here?
- 11:23I was thinking about, oh, there was some advice linked back to
- 11:28say Mustafa and I mentioned this to him a couple of weeks back
- 11:31when we had an episode. We went downstairs and I was
- 11:33like, the conversations we used to have is what makes me me
- 11:37today. Honestly.
- 11:38There was a lot of germs and advice that he gave and half the
- 11:41advice. I was shocked.
- 11:42I was like I said, most of a really advising me on these
- 11:45things. But yeah, the like when you have
- 11:48the right counsel, I can say when you have the right
- 11:50conversations with the right people, they can really shape
- 11:53and mold 100 percent, 100% they'll protect him and bless.
- 11:56Him. I mean shallow.
- 11:58Shallow. Not just dinner, what they say,
- 11:59but breakfast and lunch as well. Oh.
- 12:01Yeah, sad. What?
- 12:03Can I ask you another question one will ask you to happen
- 12:06because I already know. Go ahead.
- 12:08When did you first find out you were Shia?
- 12:11As in when did I discover? Identify yourself as a Shia.
- 12:16Like do you remember it? That's the most said only
- 12:18question. I think there's there's two
- 12:20types of that. There's one is when did I know
- 12:22on paper and you know, my label is a Shia, probably young, 3-4
- 12:26years old. If I think of my kids now at
- 12:29that age, 3-4 years old, they know their Shia.
- 12:32Like my daughter's two, she's about to be 3.
- 12:34She knows Shia. She's I'm Shia, but she doesn't
- 12:37know what it means. She understands God and Imams
- 12:39and the Holy Prophet and all that put on, but she doesn't
- 12:42understand it. When I understood it as and when
- 12:45I connected and really accepted, embraced it, I would say I was
- 12:50probably 1616 as and when I embraced it and said yeah, this
- 12:55is for me and I know it. But I think The thing is for all
- 12:58of us. Yesterday where the guy who
- 13:01posted it was like I always thought everyone was Shia until
- 13:05other others non Shia has started attacking me for being
- 13:07Shia. You know what it is?
- 13:08Yeah. The thing is we, we fall in love
- 13:11with the storytelling of our religion and we as we should
- 13:17because the stories are there and they're perfect, right?
- 13:20So for example, the stories, the Favai, the Mossahib, the Ahlad
- 13:23bit, like we're born and bred into Mossiba majalis, Favaiad
- 13:28and vicar of the Ahlad bit. And of course the connection
- 13:31with Quran. And like we understand that
- 13:35culture before we start to understand labels and Navaheb
- 13:38and sects and all of these things.
- 13:40Do you know what I mean? But you then eventually get
- 13:43exposed when you're a bit older where you start to understand.
- 13:46Well, I pray with the turtle bar, but this guy doesn't.
- 13:48For example, I remember in our prayer rooms, we had our turtle
- 13:51bars thrown away and then there was a period where we were under
- 13:55pressure in school and university for being Shia.
- 13:58I remember I got a fight in a fight, like a punch up with a
- 14:01guy. And I've maybe I've spoken about
- 14:03on the podcast when I was, I told you I was disruptive in
- 14:06school. So I remember I was like 16-1
- 14:08day. It was probably the 8th, 9th day
- 14:10of Mahalvan and I was in sixth form common room and I had a
- 14:15free lessons. I was doing my homework or
- 14:16whatever. I was doing my revision, had my
- 14:19headphones in and it was Muharram and there was a guy
- 14:23there. He started beating his chest
- 14:25like a gorilla, mocking me because I was listening to luck
- 14:28me out and all of that. So me trying to be a gangster
- 14:32squared up to him and we got in a fist fight and basically, you
- 14:36know, I, I got in trouble because he got more hurt than I,
- 14:39I think. Yeah, Anyway, that's a different
- 14:41story. But is that you smoke in the
- 14:42bridge? Yeah, whatever.
- 14:44Point being is, is that I then realized, well, this is how am I
- 14:48trying to defend Shias in, but I'm not enacting it.
- 14:50Do you know what I mean? So we we all go in these
- 14:52transformations, man. You know, you know, it's, it's
- 14:55given, it's given me a memory of when I was in school and I had
- 14:59like an altercation if someone found out I was Shia.
- 15:03Oh, really? Yeah, I don't think I've shared
- 15:05this on the podcast before. Actually, that is worth saying
- 15:09it now. I was in year 9 and there was
- 15:14Friday jumar praise inside my school.
- 15:17Nice. So in my secondary school, every
- 15:19Friday they still have jumar praise and a preacher will come
- 15:22and also give give a the hot pot of jumar.
- 15:26Yeah. So I went a few times just to
- 15:29see like, you know. I boycotted them up.
- 15:32Conversations about Maruchino, all these things.
- 15:36And then at that time I had one friend who I've been friends
- 15:38with since year seven-year 8 and year 9 used to see me come to
- 15:43the Friday prayers. Then I just missed one week.
- 15:46I just didn't go. I didn't, I, I never, by the
- 15:48way, just say just, I'll stay up proudly.
- 15:51I did not pray behind them. I just stood there listening to
- 15:54the hot 1. I left.
- 15:54I was never there for the Salah because to me there was a lot of
- 15:58things. Whether possible was radicalised
- 16:00or they just. No, they were normal.
- 16:02They were normal. But every time the preacher was
- 16:05talking, I'm like, no, that's in my head.
- 16:07I was like, that's incorrect. You can spot the.
- 16:08Inconsistent. That's inconsistent.
- 16:10No, that must played a big role in who you are today.
- 16:12Yeah, maybe being in those positions.
- 16:14And and so I just missed one Friday sermon in the school and
- 16:19we had all plus after lunch so. Oh no, I know.
- 16:23It's just going. So I saw this friend who was no
- 16:28longer my friend in the art class.
- 16:30He was like, oh, you didn't come to the Friday prayers?
- 16:33I'm like, yeah, because I don't like, like what's being said.
- 16:37I'm not comfortable. Yeah.
- 16:38And he's not. He was like, what do you mean?
- 16:40I was like, I told them basically I'm Shia.
- 16:43And this is like, the things being said is not right.
- 16:45It's inaccurate. Half the things are wrong.
- 16:47And I feel like it's only catering to Sunni Muslims and
- 16:50not Shia Muslims. So I didn't find no benefit in
- 16:53them. Right.
- 16:54So he took offence of that. An hour later in the class, he
- 16:59came to me. He said you're a Kaffer in the
- 17:02class. And I was like, what do you
- 17:04mean? He goes, yeah, you're a Shia.
- 17:05I'm like, yeah, I am Shia. So you're a Kaffer.
- 17:08I'm like, I'm Muslim. He said, no, you're not.
- 17:11He took out a compass and stabbed.
- 17:12I was about to say I'm surprised he didn't Shank you in Westland.
- 17:14A compass. And he stabbed me in my in my
- 17:18hand. Here I was confused because
- 17:20we're friends. Like I thought he was joking
- 17:22with me knowing sometimes people say we are kafar.
- 17:25I'm just trying to be normal but he actually stabbed me do.
- 17:28You have a scar. I I don't have a scar.
- 17:30I mean the compass is like. Yeah, it comes to one point.
- 17:33But you know, this was really common in both they had this.
- 17:35Big no way. I got stabbed in my hand.
- 17:38I I don't know if we've shared this but Nori Saldar got being
- 17:40up his own school and they went to the same school but Nori's
- 17:44mentioned this multiple. Times.
- 17:46We need that for a separate conversation.
- 17:49All you have is Nori on the podcast and.
- 17:52But then no, he watches the OK hang on.
- 17:59No, he watches the podcast. He's going to find this episode,
- 18:04No? Some things are better not said,
- 18:08but I'll continue. Yeah, no, stabbed in the stabbed
- 18:12in the hand. And then I left it.
- 18:14And then we got into like a proper argument.
- 18:16Yeah, argument. And I'm like, what are you
- 18:18doing? And he was very adamant the
- 18:19ongoing Hellfire. And it's it's it attacking me is
- 18:24reward for him. That's what I'm paraphrasing.
- 18:28But that was literally what he was saying.
- 18:30So I was like, OK, no problem. After school, we go into a
- 18:32fight. Yeah, we go into a physical
- 18:34fight. I mostly defended myself.
- 18:37But then sometimes you have to also do what you need to do.
- 18:40And then like by the school got involved and everything, but
- 18:43then we. How old are you here I.
- 18:45Was yeah 9. How old am I?
- 18:46I. Don't know. 131314.
- 18:49Can I ask? Yeah.
- 18:50Did he not know your Shia? When you're going Friday prayer,
- 18:53you're praying like a Shia. I told you I wasn't praying.
- 18:55I would just go for a lecture, OK?
- 18:58Yeah, I used to tell him you come pray at a break sign.
- 19:00Bear in mind in that area. Just one second, sorry, just to
- 19:03mention because he's he used to tell me come Friday prayer and I
- 19:06used to joke with him tell him come pray can ask what his first
- 19:09thing was if I say the name it meant and yeah, fair enough.
- 19:13I don't want to say to say the. Name yeah in that area because I
- 19:15I used to talk for a little guys in that area and the more
- 19:17concurrence are big they put pray with their hands down yeah
- 19:23so it's very normal like for you to mix with people praying in
- 19:26different. Cells, but in that school we had
- 19:27a lot of debates. That's crazy, man.
- 19:30All the way until. Six, you know this, this culture
- 19:31is continuing till now like if anything.
- 19:34No, I think it's changed, you know, you know, today I was at
- 19:37work here and I was with this guy.
- 19:38We were was doing this crazy shoot.
- 19:40It's like with one of the biggest channels in the world
- 19:43and the guy who's project managing it was sat down with me
- 19:46and he's like, it's crazy how people are attacking Iran.
- 19:48He goes, these are a culture of people who their whole life
- 19:52Mentorini Mehdi. And he was like literally their,
- 19:55their, their people built on patience.
- 19:57The Shias are like unbreakable. And we're here talking rubbish
- 20:01about them, trying to break them.
- 20:02You can't break these people. Yeah, this is coming from a guy
- 20:05coming from a mainstream Sunni. Channel background yeah, yeah,
- 20:10no, as in like that the the resilience of the show has
- 20:14always been like, you know, whether it's been defending
- 20:16myself in school when we're getting mocked, you defending
- 20:19yourself in school, you're speaking to the guy from the
- 20:22channel. But as in there's a common theme
- 20:25of like we're all proud of our identity consistently in
- 20:29Hamdullah and we'll go to the point where we'll put our our
- 20:32bodies on the line to defend it and obviously we're not on the
- 20:35front lines like the the people who've given their lives, given
- 20:38their children, given their family for the cause of
- 20:41defending Islam and all of that like we win in the West.
- 20:45We're nothing compared to that. However, saying that the the
- 20:50love, the Muhabba, the Muwadda is still there so that won't be
- 20:54defeated. But I mean to say is when I say
- 20:56that culture exists is as in the toxicity of that like of that
- 21:03intolerant mentality towards Shia still exists.
- 21:06If anything is probably worse because when we were in school
- 21:08you didn't have YouTube culture let alone TikTok and this and
- 21:11that to the same degree. I disagree.
- 21:13Now it's a lot easier than it was before.
- 21:15Maybe now because of access of information?
- 21:17Yeah, kids open say they're shit.
- 21:19We used to be scared. But my, my best friend at
- 21:22school, I was, I was in school with him from Year 5, which is
- 21:24what, 10 years old up until college.
- 21:28And then in college when he found out I was Shia.
- 21:29I remember we had, it was me, this Algerian guy.
- 21:31And there was a Nigerian guy in college.
- 21:34He used to walk around me, say, yeah, your blood's halal.
- 21:35And the Nigerian guy used to go crazy.
- 21:37Guys, you guys have been friends for 15 years and like out of
- 21:40nowhere, suddenly you want to kill him.
- 21:42You don't. You don't see that anymore.
- 21:43Nowadays I don't. Think he's no, probably not,
- 21:45Yeah, no. But as obviously we're not in
- 21:47that. It still exists, I agree.
- 21:48Still exists like you. You still get people who cough
- 21:51for you for no reason, but it's easier to say you're.
- 21:55But what I'm saying is like you have this agenda now targeting
- 21:59young Muslims in the West to radicalize them or to, to, to
- 22:03train them on like an ideology which is like non tolerant, non
- 22:08cohesive, no form of unity, let alone no form of tolerance, let
- 22:12alone unity. Do you know what I mean?
- 22:14So for example, now like there are pages committed to it,
- 22:17there's like cuss words and slang words against Shia.
- 22:21Do you know what I mean? Like TikTok culture against Shia
- 22:24is very common. These debaters on TikTok live.
- 22:26Stuff will always exist. It will always exist, maybe in
- 22:28different forms, but it's so easily accessible now.
- 22:31So who is it? I was speaking to last week,
- 22:33someone told me he is like, I can't remember who was.
- 22:35He's like when I became Shia. The first thing, even with
- 22:38Sheikh Mateen, when he was here, he mentioned he goes when I
- 22:41became Shia, when I became Muslim, they asked me how you
- 22:43soon know Shia. Stay away from the Shias.
- 22:45Like that stuff has existed and will continue to exist.
- 22:48But that's why we do what we do, to try and normalise Shiism and
- 22:53normalise the culture of being proud of Shiism.
- 22:56From the line Shala, we always remain proud yeah, Shala,
- 22:59there's generations that come and will be even prouder and
- 23:02more open with their identity because you know, it's easy to
- 23:06say, you know, surely I'm proud and things.
- 23:08Like Kula Slova with our hands held high.
- 23:13But but in all honesty, it's not easy for some across the world.
- 23:18Of course, there are people who live in certain countries,
- 23:23predominantly majority of Muslim countries, who like right now we
- 23:27speak about today, some of them are facing imprisonment, some of
- 23:31them have been tortured, many of them have had their citizenships
- 23:36revolved. Correct.
- 23:37Yeah. So what does it even mean to be?
- 23:39She asked scholars in some of these Gulf countries.
- 23:43She asked over 120 scholars not. Just citizenship like actual
- 23:48nationalities being removed. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:51Taking their passport. Deportation, imprisonment,
- 23:54Torture. They they put you on a state
- 23:56where you're now stateless. Yeah.
- 23:59So yeah, but for example. Actually, to do that, by the
- 24:02way, is a very, very. Example, you, your, your parents
- 24:06are Bahrani that we can use as an example here.
- 24:09You are Bahrani, your kids are born Bahrani.
- 24:13And then one day they'll find out you're Shia and they see you
- 24:15as a threat. And that's the thing they see, I
- 24:17think, this identity as a threat to the system or to the
- 24:20government or whatever it is. And then they just strip that
- 24:24away from you, and not just you, from your parents.
- 24:28Those around you generate children.
- 24:30It's, it's also an example because they're telling them,
- 24:32look, we could do it to this one guy, Everyone else kind of keep
- 24:36your voices down, stop causing a secure risk to our country.
- 24:39Otherwise, you're going to follow suit.
- 24:40Oh I'll see. The thing is before they used to
- 24:41do it on the dealer, now they are bragging about it.
- 24:44But right now I opened up in the last 48 hours go to the X
- 24:51account of, for example, the state of Bahrain MOD wherever it
- 24:54is, half the things is about all the tweets is about Shiah shiah,
- 24:58shiah, shiah shiah shiah shiah this Shihad that we revolved
- 25:01citizenship of the Shiah next. Yeah, proudly, yeah.
- 25:04And we've seen a lot of our friends who live there and
- 25:08around there or in Kuwait or in other places who have struggled
- 25:12with being able to practice freely and in the UAE, for
- 25:16example. And they've clamped down all of
- 25:18this. Obviously, like there's
- 25:19different reasons for this. Obviously this is all off the
- 25:21back of the war with Iran and. No, no.
- 25:24You know what's been going on before the war, before it's
- 25:26accelerated. No, no, no.
- 25:28Even even Yani on the out. Yani before the war.
- 25:31Last Muharram, you've got the biggest measurist in Saudi
- 25:34Arabia met him and never. Yeah, third.
- 25:36Now in Muharram, they close it down.
- 25:38It's the attendance of about 10,000 people.
- 25:39They've never. These guys are the oldest family
- 25:41in in Saudi Arabia that they've closed down.
- 25:44Saudi Arabia has been dead quiet, the Shia community since
- 25:47then, because now that everyone's scared to move.
- 25:49And then six months ago or four months ago, senior got closed
- 25:54down in Kuwait. Ever since that, the whole
- 25:57Kuwaiti community has been quiet.
- 25:59And now the Bahraini stuff, the Bahraini community is quite
- 26:02yeah. And if you if you pay attention
- 26:03to Shia social media in the Gulf now it's gone quiet.
- 26:06It's gone from 100% Shia activity to like 10%, now 5%.
- 26:12And it's so and it burns you because that's where so much of
- 26:16what we our pride comes from our content that we consume that
- 26:19atmiyat the the podcast, everything we we were watching
- 26:23was coming from there. And The thing is, it's like they
- 26:25can't even point and and identify something which is
- 26:28wrong, you know what I mean? So there's nothing in there
- 26:30which is not as. Well, just a threat to them.
- 26:33Being Shiite is a threat. Yeah, because from a theological
- 26:37point of view, there's nothing wrong that they can say.
- 26:39So they can't say on any if as long as you're talking about
- 26:44mainstream share our community, there's nothing which they can
- 26:46say this is shirk or this is imagery or symbolism of shirk or
- 26:50anything like it's not there, like it doesn't exist in our
- 26:53books or in these centers, right, Obviously.
- 26:55So then the issue's not then theology, the issue is then
- 27:00mentality. The mentality is a mentality of
- 27:03resistance, of standing up to injustice, which is embodied
- 27:08through majalis, embodied through the hot buzz that we
- 27:11have and all of that stuff. So by suffocating and removing
- 27:16the oxygen for gatherings, you then minimize the risk of people
- 27:21being able to mobilize. So that's the goal, right?
- 27:24It's to stop potential mobilisation through emotion and
- 27:26stimulation that they get from their majalis.
- 27:28But that's where they get it wrong and you go go back many
- 27:3110s of years ago during the regime of Saddam.
- 27:33Yeah, Melaka. The the the the Baathi regime of
- 27:36Saddam like people. Although he stopped Majalis
- 27:41taken publicly, Ziara wasn't performed the way it's performed
- 27:44today. Like so so many restrictions.
- 27:47But you know as if you show from that it amplified even more.
- 27:50This is my point. It's like the more you try to
- 27:52silence them, the more osland the the love for the little bit
- 27:57Ali Huma Salaam only grew and grew more inside.
- 27:59It became Osland a personal thing if it was just like on a
- 28:02communal level, no now it became every home tenant it.
- 28:05Doesn't make, you know, like. And you look at our artists
- 28:07around the world, by the way, where did this whole idea?
- 28:09You know so much. About Majalis at home, there's
- 28:11so much about you came from that.
- 28:14That Saddam's like all these this was like productions that
- 28:21came from that period because because everyone had to do their
- 28:24majalis at home, they now found creative and more powerful ways
- 28:28to. When you, when you try and
- 28:30separate a lover from his beloved, his desire to be
- 28:34reunited with him even grows stronger.
- 28:37So in the same way, if you try and end Majalis or you deport
- 28:41scholars or you revoke citizenships of Shia in the Gulf
- 28:44or in South Asia or wherever it is, On the contrary, they will
- 28:49not stop doing what they're doing.
- 28:51They will have the desire to increase and amplify it further
- 28:55and like a word of solidarity to them because we as Shias in the
- 28:59West, our community stand with them and not just those who are,
- 29:03who are being, you know, suppressed by so-called
- 29:07governments and regimes, but even those, for example, who are
- 29:11being like spinelessly targeted. So for example, we saw the
- 29:15tragic news in the last week. Sheikh Mansour who was the Imam
- 29:19of the Zainab shrine and Damascus, who was Shahid, he
- 29:25became Shahid. He gave his life and lost his
- 29:27life in the cause of love of a middle Mamanin Ali Salam.
- 29:32And another example of someone who stayed in Syria after the
- 29:40so-called government and whatever came in.
- 29:42And of course, the establishment of the Jolani government and in
- 29:46a time in a place where you have under half a million Shia and
- 29:49Sham, which a lot of people don't seem to realize, not a lot
- 29:53of people. And you still have a scholar who
- 29:56there who there who's proud to be a Shia scholar with a public
- 29:59reputation and a public image and he's targeted for his faith.
- 30:04And like Pakistan, like, how often do we see Pakistan?
- 30:09It seems like one in every five weeks on Jomah, we see an attack
- 30:14in Pakistan, bomb blast in this city, bomb blast in that city.
- 30:19You know, 10 lives lost this week, 30 lives lost that week.
- 30:22And these are people like, you know, unfortunately, sometimes,
- 30:27not always, sometimes our communities tend to have.
- 30:30And please don't take me the wrong way.
- 30:32And ethnos supremacy or an Arab superiority complex with certain
- 30:39things. So for example, with lost lives,
- 30:43a lost, if you had God forbid, lost lives in certain countries,
- 30:49Arab countries, it may be seen as more important, for example,
- 30:54than lost lives in Afghanistan or in Pakistan.
- 30:58And unfortunately now we're normalizing that culture in
- 31:01Iran, in Lebanon and you know it, we're continuing to see this
- 31:05as well. So and also bro like not even
- 31:08beginning to mention like Yemen, bro, Yemen is like the saddest
- 31:12story man. And then even non Shia countries
- 31:15but are still being oppressed. Look at Sudan.
- 31:18There's so many other examples, Somalia as well.
- 31:21Like there's a lot of innocent lives in and like blood, that
- 31:24being is being spilt unnecessarily.
- 31:26No, I I, I don't disagree. I think even last time when we
- 31:28had brother Zain Hawan on an episode where we spoke about
- 31:32Shia genocide, correct to this when when, for example, people
- 31:37are saying why not? Why is people not, you know,
- 31:40giving voice to the genocide that's taken place in Pakistan,
- 31:43for example? And I said that broadly.
- 31:46I was like, no one tells us about it.
- 31:49We don't really know about it. The whole world knows when an
- 31:53when there's like a genocide on Arabs, but it's not Arabs.
- 31:56We don't know about it. Let me tell you something here.
- 31:58We're not educated. Do you remember 2016 when the
- 32:00Karada bomb blast happened on Eid in Baghdad?
- 32:03The outrage, rightfully so. The outrage which happened from
- 32:07the Shia community was it was, it was, it was.
- 32:12I don't want to, I want to use the right word.
- 32:14It was hopeful or get inspired. Some hope to see the
- 32:17mobilisation of the Shia in the West, the outrage from the Shia
- 32:20in the West. That energy is not then given to
- 32:24Shia in other countries. And you know, like we have to
- 32:29obviously be flag bearers in this.
- 32:30Anyone who's got a public page or but I want to say something,
- 32:33please. Just really quickly, a little
- 32:35rant. Yeah, Shia influences
- 32:37specifically online. There are certain people who
- 32:39talk about religion online, who talk like us, for example, but
- 32:44who act On the contrary to how they talk when they talk about
- 32:48Shiaism in other spaces. And then like anti Shia.
- 32:52What I mean by that is like they, they speak badly, they
- 32:55post music, they post illicit scenes or explicit scenes.
- 32:58Rather they will like say like really anti Shia staff, they'll
- 33:02cuss out other Shia influences. That it's a side note.
- 33:06But what I'm trying to say is that Shia influences generally
- 33:09have like a really high responsibility right now or
- 33:12anyone who's got some form of a platform, youth, youth groups,
- 33:14AB socks organizations, so to speak out about the right things
- 33:19and not even. Should they speak out?
- 33:21About everything we talked about last five minutes, 10 minutes.
- 33:23About anything. Everything.
- 33:25Waving the flag You. Know what?
- 33:27Palestinian flag. Who laminia Mal?
- 33:31Oh laminia Mal? Nah bro I'm saying like just
- 33:34don't waste time bro. Like you have certain influences
- 33:37who are posting stories, like I don't want to name names.
- 33:41Yeah, I saw an influencer who proudly posts about shitism and
- 33:46to get clicks on his video, his cover photo for The Real was
- 33:51Kendrick Lamar versus Drake SO2 rappers.
- 33:55You click the video and it's something completely different.
- 33:59That guy preaches about shitism on his page, but you go on his
- 34:03page and the cover photo to for clickbait is about a rap battle
- 34:08between two rappers. Yeah, yeah bro come on man, it's
- 34:11not OK. Like you can't then like play
- 34:14moral high ground about being a Shia influencer.
- 34:15You know, speaking about Shia influences today I came, look,
- 34:19what was today during work, I had like a small break and I
- 34:22remember opening up my phone and it was the first thing that came
- 34:25to my feet. And it's a Muslim influencer.
- 34:29They were a Shia. It was a Muslim influencer.
- 34:31And they were like, I know this is Haram, but thank you God for
- 34:37letting me be in this in this moment.
- 34:41They were in a concert with their favorite singer.
- 34:43That's mess. In the States, yeah.
- 34:46That is. So they they're basically
- 34:49telling their entire Muslim audience I'm obviously sinning.
- 34:51I know this is Haram but thank you Allah for giving me the
- 34:55opportunity. To be publicly sin, yeah, that
- 34:58is mess. That's like Inception level
- 35:01rubber. I don't want to go into this
- 35:03like. I know much, you know.
- 35:05Muslims in Go and Coachella and stuff like that is bro.
- 35:09But it's it's a rubber if we start this conversation.
- 35:12Wait. Wait, what's the culture?
- 35:13It's a, it's a, it's a. What do you call it?
- 35:14It's a music festival. It's a music festival.
- 35:17And and like Muslims, are proudly posting videos
- 35:19themselves there. Or worse than that, Muslim
- 35:22countries like in Syria or Saudi Arabia, they're hosting the
- 35:25concerts. Yeah.
- 35:26Like in Syria, they had flipping, they had like the
- 35:29opening of Giuliani, Giuliani and the opening of football
- 35:32stadium and they had like a gold.
- 35:33But then finally he got stitched up with that, like they brought
- 35:36him in last minute and he had no idea what he was going into and
- 35:39he just sat him down. I think that's just well for
- 35:41him. It's like all it is is, is like,
- 35:43obviously these things are normalized in the West, Yeah.
- 35:45Music and so on. Yeah.
- 35:47But if you're going to then, like, preach, whether you're
- 35:50online or you're running a government, practice what you
- 35:53preach. So I'm saying it's simple as
- 35:55man, people posting a Hadith and talking about religion and
- 36:00publicly talking about religion, you've got to carry that, bro.
- 36:03Same with you and me saying like, we're not influencers,
- 36:07we're not scholars, but for example, people know we address
- 36:10religious issues on a weekly basis.
- 36:12If then you and I go to a concert and we're posting on our
- 36:15stories and saying God, thank you for allowing me to be at
- 36:18this concert, come on bro, like. I didn't stop posting topless
- 36:22workout videos. They were AI.
- 36:27No, no, I'm joking. That's not true.
- 36:31Send me that I was don't. Prove where it is.
- 36:35To find that the. Other day someone asked me I'm
- 36:38going to go personal on this year.
- 36:40Someone asked me. He was like, say, why are you
- 36:41always quiet online? Because it was boring.
- 36:45Now that's true, there's no way to.
- 36:47So he goes He. Goes.
- 36:48Only he knew that. He said, why are you quiet
- 36:51online, like in like in the social media presence?
- 36:55And I was like, and if I don't have anything to share, I'm not
- 36:57going to share. It was like, yeah, but we like,
- 37:00you know, you're telling me you can't post what food you eat.
- 37:03Well, like you can't post what food you eat, where you go up to
- 37:06where you go. Do people still care about like?
- 37:09Like to who? I think as an in general.
- 37:12Say do an influence. I'm not an influence, no.
- 37:14People love to see what people are getting up to, right?
- 37:16So they feel like if, if, if they're following you, they want
- 37:19to know more about you. You understand.
- 37:21So they feel like. They want inside scoop and.
- 37:25And the more I think about it is why do you want to know?
- 37:28I think about. It honestly, why do you want?
- 37:31To know, let's say this, it's it's like I said, it's inside
- 37:34scoop thing. Like for example, why do you
- 37:36why, why celebrities and like influencers are huge on
- 37:40Snapchat. It's because they'll show like
- 37:43the BTS stuff in their life. Like for example, as an example,
- 37:47yeah, we record a podcast every week.
- 37:50Yeah, people who watch the podcast for years know
- 37:53everything like the structure, the start, the finish, the end,
- 37:55whatever. However, if we start posting on
- 37:58Snapchat only exclusive behind the scenes footage, the
- 38:00preparation and the cameras and speaking to the guests before
- 38:03and after, not on us. But all I'm saying is like the
- 38:06fan culture generally, whether it's with podcasts or music or
- 38:10film or anything, Youtubers, they all want to know what
- 38:14happens behind the scenes. Do you know what I mean?
- 38:16Like I remember back in the day, there was a few Youtubers I used
- 38:18to watch and then when I saw them on Snapchat, like, you
- 38:22know, football or whatever that you see, like how they engage
- 38:25with their friends. It's funny because you're seeing
- 38:28more content by the people that you look up to or the content,
- 38:31the creators that you like. So people enjoy that.
- 38:35But like you said, if there's no need, why say anything?
- 38:37Well, there is no need so Ali. What pieces did you just have?
- 38:41Al Hamdullah, we had fire away from Ealing.
- 38:43Shah Mustafa Joda. Amazing guy.
- 38:47I think I've had this piece of 3-4 times.
- 38:50Episode, by the way. Last three weeks.
- 38:52That's true. That's true.
- 38:53God bless. But.
- 38:53Talking about Snapchat, I do use Snapchat sometimes between
- 38:56family. Yeah, I yeah, I get you.
- 38:58Do you know? I need that rumour.
- 38:59Who's talking away? Yeah.
- 39:01You get my snap the other day I got.
- 39:03I. Got the only person who's.
- 39:04Yeah, I know, I know. Do you know what?
- 39:06Can I be rude with you? Yeah, I'm so I used to do
- 39:09Snapchat so much. Yeah, he doesn't.
- 39:10Open them. He opens them a week later.
- 39:12Yeah. No, I do, yeah.
- 39:13You know I had my Snapchat notifications on for time just.
- 39:17About saying. Eric came.
- 39:18Too much, you know? Nah.
- 39:20So for me, I got to a point where no one I know snaps me
- 39:23anymore. Yeah.
- 39:24And I don't snap anyone, so the only notifications I was getting
- 39:28is from Snapchat. Like, you know who's your
- 39:30friend? Tube Snapchat.
- 39:31Your contacts. Yeah, yeah, Tube Snapchat, Yeah.
- 39:34So I was like, you know, allow it, man.
- 39:36I turned off my notifications. And then once, once every 3-4,
- 39:40yeah, it's great. Once every three or four weeks,
- 39:43once every three or four weeks, I open Snapchat.
- 39:45Top of my thing, said Ali. It's like a Blue Square.
- 39:48Red Blue Square. Yeah, I'm, I, I open the video.
- 39:53It's like St. Ali breaking his fast on Amaban.
- 39:55It's like 4 months after Amaban. Like you know St.
- 40:00Ali yet? Mashallah when he starts his
- 40:02day, he wakes up. What's the first thing said?
- 40:05Ali says he gets out of bed. Huh.
- 40:08Why is she out? No.
- 40:14No. No.
- 40:15No Mashallah, let's. Take the conversation back to a
- 40:19serious note. I turned up all my
- 40:22notifications. Generally social media
- 40:25notifications. That's why he's not WhatsApp.
- 40:27No, WhatsApp, not the WhatsApp groups.
- 40:29But are there? What was the conversation?
- 40:31Wait, wait. Just.
- 40:34To clarify. Yeah, at 9:00 PM.
- 40:38Well, I said I leave. The meeting has been changed to
- 40:409:15 PM. He joins at 9:10 PM.
- 40:43It was that guy. Why is no one in the meeting?
- 40:45No, no, no. It's more than that.
- 40:47It's more than that. We told him at 9:00.
- 40:48It's at 9:15. At 9:00 he's like guys, I'll be
- 40:52ready in 2 minutes. We said bro, don't worry, it's
- 40:54at 9:15. So it.
- 40:56Doesn't he? Didn't say anything.
- 40:57So then at 904 he's like guys, I can't connect.
- 41:01We're like Bubba read the message, you scroll up.
- 41:03He's like why not replying to me?
- 41:05Someone told me and it broke probably 2 minutes before.
- 41:08You're like ours at 9:15. Feels so bad for you.
- 41:11I had to find a screenshot every time if I search, said Ali.
- 41:15Why don't you read our messages? I have, you know have that 1000
- 41:19times. Just to give context.
- 41:19The busy man. Just to give context, Yeah,
- 41:21yeah, I'd wake up every day. There's about 300 messages from
- 41:25one group that has the both of you mess group.
- 41:28Nah, not anymore. It used to be a lot worse.
- 41:29But I told them off. It used to be used if I wake.
- 41:32Up and Ahmed's talking. I'm like, Ahmed, stop messaging.
- 41:34Yeah, both. Sometimes I'll wake up, yeah.
- 41:37And I'll be like, we have a hadith that says to be a Shia
- 41:40and a time of the labour is nearly as great as being with
- 41:44the imam physically. How does that make sense?
- 41:46And that thought will come to my mind 9:00 AM on a Tuesday.
- 41:49So I'll ask that question and Muhammad Ali shout out more Ali,
- 41:52more Ali will be like, well, in this book we have this I.
- 41:55Mean Ali gets exciting. Yeah, he loves it.
- 41:57He loves. That awake at 855 wakes up like.
- 42:00Stirring his coffee. He's stirring his coffee.
- 42:02And he's, like, typing with one hand.
- 42:04Yeah, katab and this. And you know, this says jokes,
- 42:09man, these jokes. Ahmed.
- 42:12Ha habibi last question that we forgot.
- 42:15I think give the viewers an inspirational quote that will
- 42:18change their lives or think about it and we'll come back.
- 42:23To you, I saw one today I which I sent to you guys.
- 42:26Give me one second. Inspirational music in the
- 42:28background. Yeah, Nah, I saw one today.
- 42:32Knowledge is the best gift of God.
- 42:34Alib Nabia Talib Ali Salaam. That's the first one I had on my
- 42:37phone. Knowledge is the best gift from
- 42:40God. What?
- 42:41What does that tell you? Break it down for us.
- 42:48For voila do not run knowledge is the best thing for world
- 42:52guys. Go online ChatGPT.
- 42:56There's a ChatGPT Houser edition which is really good by the way,
- 43:00does. It make.
- 43:01Fantastic. No bro solid proper hadith
- 43:04preferences called anikaya made by students of the Houser.
- 43:08Someone's going to comment saying where can I get this?
- 43:11I don't know, I'm sorry. So so.
- 43:15The word product placement is. Sorry, so someone sent me a
- 43:18link. I'll try and find it, DM off the
- 43:20market. I'll I'll figure it out.
- 43:22I've got it on my phone. It's incredible.
- 43:24It's incredible. All right, guys.
- 43:26Did you did you get that picture?
- 43:27We're up to the picture. What picture?
- 43:28Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Guys, I just want to give a
- 43:32shout out to wait, let me just set this up properly.
- 43:36I want to give a shout out to HEMA Art, the art division of
- 43:40Haim Al Abbas of course. Youth group in East London doing
- 43:43incredible work, Majalis exhibitions, Moai Lead and
- 43:49weekly bonfires with scholars, which we need to go to and check
- 43:51out because martial art is incredible.
- 43:53And I picked up this piece of art from an exhibition a couple
- 43:59of days ago and I thought it would be a nice addition to the
- 44:00set. So I want to just show the
- 44:03camera. Hopefully you guys can see this.
- 44:05This is Said Ali. What is it?
- 44:07Can you describe what you can say to us?
- 44:08This is the door entrance of the shrine of Abu al Fallal Abbas
- 44:12Ali as Salaam, where you can see hanging down from the chandelier
- 44:18towards the door, the karbel of Abu al Abbas, which represents
- 44:23the water carrier. The water carrier on the.
- 44:25Real hand drawing. This is a real hand drawing.
- 44:28This is by, said Yasir Shah, who is the father of our dear
- 44:32friend, Said Hassan, who is obviously one of the core team
- 44:36members of Haim Al Abbas. Incredible like work, beautiful
- 44:40detail. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:41Like, And I, I actually showed, I showed someone who's an
- 44:45artist. I showed them this picture.
- 44:46You know, I saw their store and he had so much pictures.
- 44:49I was like, this is crazy. How can you draw the I didn't
- 44:52even I thought he. Was saying.
- 44:53He said no, no, no, no. He's an architect and an artist.
- 44:56I showed an artist, I showed an artist this picture.
- 45:00They said if only you knew the number of hours that went into
- 45:03the detail. And the artist looked at this
- 45:05and said, I know how hard this artist has worked on it.
- 45:08So shout out to say the Arthur, the Arthur Uncle Mehallah, bless
- 45:12you, always give you Motofiak, Haim, Al Abbas, the whole team.
- 45:16Thank you so much, guys. Check out Haima Art on
- 45:19Instagram. They are, yeah, distributing,
- 45:23sharing incredible artwork. Let alone the work they do, just
- 45:26them as a team. Yeah, they carry themselves very
- 45:29well. They're extremely dignified.
- 45:30Yeah, Mashallah Mehallah, bless them and I think this will be a
- 45:34nice addition to our set. What do you think?
- 45:36Are you going to remove the YouTube black?
- 45:38No, because for. We'll move something, we'll move
- 45:41the event. Pictures rising door, Yeah.
- 45:45I forgot about Rising Door by the way, it's like 3 months ago.
- 45:47Well, I raised it from my memory.
- 45:49It's deep. That was the most stressful.
- 45:51Time. Yeah, It was so stressful.
- 45:53Pressure. What pressure?
- 45:56Yeah, do you remember the marketing memes?
- 45:58Yeah, marketing. You know, I had, I had five
- 46:03questions I wanted to ask Ahmed, but we've run out of time.
- 46:06Give him, give him one, give me one.
- 46:07I'll give you that one line answer.
- 46:08Well, the quote he gave us was dry.
- 46:10Sorry. It was just.
- 46:13Not because minimum mini, no. As I you did a quote that was
- 46:16going to come from you. You're saying that's your?
- 46:18Grandfather, you gave me some hadith that you just memorized.
- 46:20A minimum mini. No, I'm saying that your
- 46:23grandfather I expect to suffer from you.
- 46:25You're you guys are the grandsons of Salah.
- 46:28You're asking me do. You mean like advice from him
- 46:30and not a quote? Yeah.
- 46:32Oh, a quote from me. When it's saying that was going
- 46:33to change my life, man, I'm going to wake up, come back on
- 46:36like. I I post my heartfelt things on
- 46:38the stories. No, I'm not one of the market
- 46:40stories. I'm not messaging you tomorrow.
- 46:41Sorry bro. Yellow, were you going to ask
- 46:44them? Yeah, it's follow.
- 46:45What is one thing you'll change on the set?
- 46:47The picture. I would add this next.
- 46:50What do you think? No, I would get rid of the
- 46:52Tespire and the sword. Not because I don't like them,
- 46:55but because we've had them for four years.
- 46:57So I'm, I'm yeah. Needs a change.
- 46:59What do you think I've said much about Hosseini?
- 47:05He's we. Are blood.
- 47:07We are just mere human beings. His family.
- 47:09Passing time in this universe. His family, who I've had the
- 47:15least eye contacted in my life because he's so shy of people,
- 47:18he doesn't keep eye contact to them.
- 47:20OK, he's the one guy. When you meet him for the first
- 47:22time, he's like, so. I have a few more, but we're
- 47:25going to keep it to us. Just one, OK, I know it's one I
- 47:28really want to ask. I really want to know for the
- 47:30viewers to listen to as well. So OK with you.
- 47:35Go on. How would you feel if I stepped
- 47:41back from Aftermath? And he's been planning.
- 47:44He's been planning this. He's being played.
- 47:47No. Yeah.
- 47:47I. I by the way, you know in his
- 47:49head he's got a date. Yeah, I know.
- 47:51Yeah, I wouldn't be happy. And I don't think, I don't think
- 47:55that would be something we can discuss on camera.
- 47:59Basically, how would I feel, bro?
- 48:02I'd be finished bro, but I tried that before and you didn't Let
- 48:05me. If you remember I was trying.
- 48:08To imagine we spent five years building business.
- 48:10Now obviously there's messages. Obviously there's got to be a
- 48:12game plan, succession plan. We know that, right?
- 48:14We can't be in our 40s talking to 17 now.
- 48:19We can't be in our 40s talking about problems that 17 year olds
- 48:22are having in school. Obviously we don't know, right.
- 48:24So there has to be a game plan of we after Mahadabi's long term
- 48:29project, we want it to continue Charlotte 1020 years at least.
- 48:33So there has to be a a plan of action and Charlotte, we'll see
- 48:36new faces, more people being a part of the project, more
- 48:41productions, Hamdullah, the three of us and obviously the
- 48:44wider team like. You know, I think the the the
- 48:48people who watched the episodes week in week out should leave a
- 48:51comment down below on how they would feel.
- 48:54Yeah, I think how? How would they imagine after
- 48:57market of changing like what's what's the exit plan?
- 48:59We'll lose 10K subscribers, said Ali Lives.
- 49:06Shout out to those weekly commentators, I'm still here.
- 49:09Yeah, man, that's it. You're still, you've been
- 49:12planning this, haven't you? It's a dramatic effect.
- 49:14Did you see the pause before he asked the question?
- 49:16He's been playing, playing out on this.
- 49:18Head, how do I ask this? Well, wait, LA, he's.
- 49:20Not making it seem like it's happening.
- 49:22Yeah. He's already bought his flights,
- 49:24by the way. He's leaving.
- 49:25Yeah, he's got the time. He's the guy.
- 49:27He's that guy. He's that kind of guy who's
- 49:30already packed his bags to move to Oman.
- 49:33Well, he's. Been in Madrid for the past
- 49:35three weeks. Yeah, yeah.
- 49:37And he's already packed his house up.
- 49:39He's been in Sicily and he's he wouldn't tell us.
- 49:42And then the day before his fight, he Black Shabab
- 49:45announcement. Time has come.
- 49:47You don't want to win Sicily. When did you find?
- 49:49Out. You know how he's going to
- 49:49announce him, by the way? He's going to send you a.
- 49:53Snap. Yeah, Yeah.
- 49:54True. I'll find out three weeks now by
- 49:56saying we're filming tonight. I turned up.
- 49:58Where is he? He.
- 49:59Opened like. Snap.
- 50:01Yeah. The the the other day you asked
- 50:03me a question. I was like check my story.
- 50:05Yeah, yeah. What did I say?
- 50:07I was like, Oh yeah, who wants to go out?
- 50:08You're like, what time should we form today?
- 50:10No, no, no, I said. I said.
- 50:11I said who's come? Like who's on chilling?
- 50:14We'll go out for a child or something.
- 50:15I used to check my story or you'll check my Snap.
- 50:18I checked my Snapchat and this guy's on the plane.
- 50:23Sometimes things happen last minute.
- 50:25I feel like I need to ask you one last question because you've
- 50:28been asking a lot so let me because I bro you planned this
- 50:32and you told me not to plan so. I said I planned a lot of
- 50:35questions. The dynamics changed in the
- 50:37conversation a little. Can I make a Said Ali joke?
- 50:41We plan and they plan. A lot's the best of plans.
- 50:44It's not a joke though. Well.
- 50:46Said Ali BA. I'm so tired.
- 50:54Hurry up. Bro give me a second what's the
- 50:59best compliment you've ever received in?
- 51:01What sense? What's the best compliment
- 51:03you've ever received? Did.
- 51:04You just ask ChatGPT like. Like from.
- 51:08Anyone Family? Anyone podcast related you know?
- 51:11Podcast related. When you were eating your pizza
- 51:13necessity. Podcast related, Yeah, say that.
- 51:18OK, that wasn't really a compliment.
- 51:20No, there'll suffice. That's an answer I was trying.
- 51:24To say the story you. Can what happened?
- 51:28I went to an island in Italy called Sicily, OK, and I went to
- 51:35a place I hope I'm pronouncing correct, Palomero.
- 51:40Palomo. Palomo, there we go.
- 51:42You know I'm geography and we stayed in the area called Santa
- 51:52Flap something. Anyhow, I drove an hour to the
- 51:56city centre of Palermo, Palomo, and we found the nice pizza
- 52:02joint. We went in chilling, ordered,
- 52:06got my lemonade, got my pizza with some weird vegetables.
- 52:13First time, but it was delicious.
- 52:14I was enjoying it. And then someone went past.
- 52:18And this is on an island in Italy.
- 52:19It's not like down the road or in Wembley, Sudbury and these
- 52:23places. Yeah.
- 52:24And they went past, they looked, and then they went back.
- 52:27Then they came back like 30 seconds later with their family
- 52:30members. And they came this as Salaam.
- 52:34But I was a bit confused. They hit my head and then they
- 52:38were like, are you the guy from After Maghrib?
- 52:41Literally what for what? And I was like, yeah, I host on
- 52:45After Maghrib if that's what they were referring to.
- 52:48But my brain wasn't putting 1 + 1 because I'm in the most random
- 52:51place on earth. It's the Mediterranean,
- 52:55literally, and he thinks he's in like north London.
- 52:57Yeah, and then they said we just want to thank the team for all
- 53:01that you do. Thank you to Aftermath.
- 53:03Keep up the great work and thanks a lot.
- 53:05And we're talking about Italians, guys.
- 53:07Aftermath, donate, donate. You can't tell.
- 53:10Like they're like one of us. They're Italian, Italian.
- 53:14They're not reverse as in they're not like like Arabs,
- 53:17Asians in Italy. I wouldn't have been able to say
- 53:22yes to that, because you can't. Guys, if it was you that said
- 53:25Salaam to him. Yeah, man.
- 53:26Oh yeah. So.
- 53:27Yeah, leave a comment. Please say Salaam and inshallah
- 53:30we can say Salaam and I felt bad.
- 53:31Did you ask them if they subscribed?
- 53:32I didn't because they didn't want to disturb us.
- 53:36You can. You'd assume they've subscribed
- 53:37from the way they approached them.
- 53:39I do want to apologize. One thing I wanted to get up and
- 53:42say Salaam properly but. Someone sat behind him.
- 53:45I tried to go back a bit and I was sitting in someone else's
- 53:47chair and I was awkward. I've always said Salaam from
- 53:50afar, Mar Salaam are from afar, but Marshall Lyon, it's.
- 53:53Beautiful. Now we, when we have those
- 53:54stories, those, you know, because of that.
- 53:56Meaning I'm going to title the podcast now she has insistedly.
- 54:00It happens, by the way. Yeah.
- 54:01Marshall Lyon, she has in Sicily.
- 54:04That's nice. Click fake now.
- 54:05It happens, bro. I random places, random things.
- 54:09It's beautiful when you go to different parts of the world.
- 54:12I remember you had that friend in Panama.
- 54:16Oh, Ricky Haider, who's now COM studying his Allah.
- 54:20He's a chef. He's been a COM for many.
- 54:22Years. The first viral.
- 54:23He you know whose class he is in the chef, Monsieur Jaffer's
- 54:26class. Yeah, yeah, he's in the same
- 54:28class. He's crazy.
- 54:29Some guy you ran. Multiverse, Multiverse, some guy
- 54:33emailed, the story said no. This guy emailed me once from
- 54:38Panama. Panama Papers.
- 54:43The Panama, the country said yeah, he emailed saying I watch
- 54:47a little bit tvi watch your shows and it.
- 54:50Wasn't just I watch. He's like, you guys made me
- 54:52shout. Yeah, basically I became.
- 54:54You guys are basically my I. Changed my name to Haidel, this
- 54:57stuff and I stayed. I basically was like, because we
- 55:01got on and obviously he saw some of the stuff I did and we became
- 55:05friends and we stayed in touch and we followed each other and
- 55:07everything. I never met him, Subhanallah,
- 55:09till this day I met him. I don't know how, and we stayed
- 55:12in touch and he used to send me videos and all of that.
- 55:16Yeah, He's a Marshall. He's a Hausener, He's a, he's a
- 55:19teacher as in to to the likes of us, you know, he's a shark
- 55:22Marshall scholar. So it just goes to show man.
- 55:26But yeah bro, Subhanallah. That was the time you were
- 55:29presenting the shows and. Yeah, that was the.
- 55:32Muslim narrative, documentary and.
- 55:34Yeah, yeah. Well, yeah.
- 55:37Those are the days, man. I don't get compliments to
- 55:39answer your question. That's it.
- 55:42Say that. Earlier one last one last
- 55:43question. Last question, What's your dream
- 55:46Tesco meal deal combination? What's What's the American
- 55:53equivalent of Tesco? For the drink.

- 56:08Peach ice tea. No, no, no.
- 56:10Peach ice tea. No, it's not Lipton.
- 56:12It's a different. One, you need to get the Polish
- 56:14ones by the way they were. Peach ice tea for the crisp.
- 56:18I'd enjoy the prawn cocktail. I used to, but I've had too much
- 56:22of that. I now have the.
- 56:23Sensations. No, no, no.
- 56:25The Monster Munch. The pickled onion.
- 56:29I don't know why. That's the most Snapchat crisp.
- 56:31I don't know why, but that's my reason to go to crisp.
- 56:35If I grab that as a snack and as the main sandwich, I don't get
- 56:40sandwiches anymore, I get the fruit.
- 56:43Fruit mango mains. Either mango mains or the mixed
- 56:47berries and grapes. OK, but where?

- 57:08Yeah. In my Tesco there's halal
- 57:10chicken ticker sandwiches. Really.
- 57:11Yeah, bro, it's only much. You know, but you know their
- 57:14chicken looks. Is is Butters?
- 57:16Yeah, I I've had it. I'm not going to lie.
- 57:18It doesn't taste good, man. It's halal halala.
- 57:20I did my research. Everything.
- 57:21It doesn't look good. But it, yeah, it does the job.
- 57:24Yeah. And you're starving.
- 57:25Nothing else in it. Usually it's the pasta.
- 57:28It's got to be pasta, pasta salad, cheese and tomato.
- 57:31Although. You've had your.
- 57:32Breath. I used to have that in meal
- 57:33deal. I used to have that.
- 57:35The pasta, your breath will stink sometimes.
- 57:37Or the prawn salad solid. Yeah, it does the job.
- 57:41Then there's only two crisps. I really like blue Doritos.
- 57:46I really like blue. I go through phases.
- 57:48Yeah, I mean, Doritos or sensations.
- 57:53Yeah, I know. I used to be on like the red and
- 57:56then I had the orange base. Now I'm back on blue.
- 57:58No, it's not. No, blue is.
- 58:01Blue is original. Yeah.
- 58:04And then in terms of a drink? You're the most generic Hoja in
- 58:07the. World how bro?
- 58:08Who has blue crisps? No, Solid, OK.
- 58:12Carry on, drinks. And then drink.
- 58:16I will. I would like to get a coffee but
- 58:21a lot of coffee things I boycott now to go and see can't really
- 58:24do anything. Do you know what I mean?
- 58:25Starbucks, Costa, all of the Tesco brands, even the double
- 58:29shot espresso boycott, you know what I'm saying?
- 58:32So. The problem is no other company
- 58:34does a double shirt. I know, I know, I know.
- 58:36Except. Starbucks.
- 58:37Yeah, and it's nice as well. It's.
- 58:38Nice to get. That's actually tastes like
- 58:40coffee, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I used to get a few
- 58:42years ago and then stopped, in all honesty.
- 58:44Is overpriced as well. Yeah I know, but if I need
- 58:48caffeine bro, I'll have to get like a Lucozade or something, do
- 58:50you know what I mean? My mildew drink is a Red Bull.
- 58:53Yeah, Red Bull. Still drink Red Bull?
- 58:56I drink for a ball as. Well, when you get a meal deal,
- 58:57you have to like utilize as much money.
- 58:59Yeah, exactly. So you're spending like 6 lbs
- 59:02and you get it for 3:20 or whatever.
- 59:03So you make your meal based on how much money you can save.
- 59:06Yeah, as if I could get a red ball, I'll get a red.
- 59:08Ball, the big one as well, I saw.
- 59:10The other day, the huge red ball part of the meal deal.
- 59:12No, that's too much a. Huge.
- 59:14Yeah, the huge Red Bull's part of the mild deal.
- 59:15I don't get the. And by itself is like almost £4.
- 59:18That's mad. The the it's like the 500 law.
- 59:21Would used to get boost, boost, boost.
- 59:24Yeah, you know, I remember used to.
- 59:26Drink of your class. I used.
- 59:29To always have a box of boost in that.
