- 0:20Speaker 1: It is time to leave your warriors outside and laugh
- 0:24Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley along with
- 0:28Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Today is RAD.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Day, August twenty nine, twenty twenty five.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Earlier this week, I told you.
- 0:44Speaker 1: About a headline that I thought was going to be
- 0:48Speaker 1: the headline of the week. That was the story about
- 0:53Speaker 1: the the rail line assessing one hundred and sixteen dollars
- 0:57Speaker 1: fines to passengers caught.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Barbe and that that seems hard to beat.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It does seem, I mean, you can. You can pound it,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and you can pound it as much as you can,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and we did. But we may have spoken too soon,
- 1:22Speaker 1: because I have another contender for headline of the week.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Burning Man's orgy Dome was blown away by high winds
- 1:41Speaker 1: just as the event began.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I'd like to I'd like.
- 1:48Speaker 1: To point out burning Man in this case is not
- 1:53Speaker 1: a man who is burning. It's the concert event in Nevada,
- 1:59Speaker 1: not because it reads just a totally different headline. If
- 2:01Speaker 1: you say burning Man's orgy Dome and you don't know
- 2:05Speaker 1: that that's a music festival, you just think it's just
- 2:07Speaker 1: some guy with an STD which if he has an
- 2:11Speaker 1: orgy dome. You wouldn't be all that surprised by it. Anyway,
- 2:16Speaker 1: we're talking about the music festival Burning Man. Burning Man's
- 2:19Speaker 1: orgy dome was blown away by high winds just as
- 2:24Speaker 1: the event began.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I I know what Burning Man is. I have followed it.
- 2:34Speaker 3: It's always interesting to see the people and the clips
- 2:36Speaker 3: that come out of that. However, this is the first
- 2:39Speaker 3: time I knew there was an orgy dome same.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I had no idea.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I didn't follow Burning Man this closely. Now I'm glad
- 2:48Speaker 1: that I don't. But apparently it is. It is a thing,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and it is something that has happened, and I'm worried
- 2:58Speaker 1: for us all. I'm worried. So if you're planning on
- 3:00Speaker 1: going to Burning Man, just keep that in mind.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That it's got some challenges this year. I guess bring
- 3:10Speaker 2: a tent, not a bad idea.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, And by the way, if you're wondering, yes, the
- 3:18Speaker 1: orgy dome is exactly what you think it is, while
- 3:21Speaker 1: Burning Man does have a reputation for drug use and nudity.
- 3:26Speaker 1: If you're wondering, is orgy dome a euphemism for something, No,
- 3:32Speaker 1: that's exactly what it is. The orgy dome is a
- 3:40Speaker 1: private space where couples can explore their sexuality with strangers
- 3:44Speaker 1: while that Burning Man. It's going to be a little
- 3:47Speaker 1: more challenging though, because the winds blew it over. According
- 3:55Speaker 1: to the Burning Man officials, they said, the wind wrecked
- 4:01Speaker 1: our structure. We hope to be able to offer some
- 4:04Speaker 1: workshops if possible, but what remains of the orgy.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Dome is beyond repair. That's so very sad.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I mean, that is I'm sure very disappointing to the
- 4:18Speaker 3: people that we are going to Burning Man.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I'm sure it's a big, big let down.
- 4:24Speaker 3: And all I can see is just some structure that
- 4:30Speaker 3: looks like a giant boob.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That's what it looked like before the winds got to it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Now it just now.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Don't you hate it when your orgy dome just as
- 4:41Speaker 2: you show up and it's.
- 4:42Speaker 1: All limp, saggy. Yeah, No one likes a flaccid orgy dome.
- 4:50Speaker 1: For those that don't know, mainly me, Burning Man is
- 4:53Speaker 1: an annual event in the desert in which an estimated
- 4:57Speaker 1: seventy thousand people build an entire city from scratch over
- 5:01Speaker 1: the course of the week ending on Labor Day. Known
- 5:04Speaker 1: for attendees who wear colorful outfits or not at all.
- 5:07Speaker 1: The event draws people interested in exploring art, music, and
- 5:11Speaker 1: free expression in a largely unregulated environment, hence the orgy dome.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But that got blown away by the high winds. Yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 1: Attendance is generally limited to couples and solo men are
- 5:25Speaker 1: generally not permitted. No wonder you follow with Trey out
- 5:28Speaker 1: of curiosity and desired. It's like, oh, man, the one
- 5:31Speaker 1: event that I wouldn't mind going, and I'm not allowed.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I would not.
- 5:37Speaker 2: You don't want to be a burning Man at burning Man.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Because you know, between STDs and children, there is no
- 5:46Speaker 3: telling what is spawned out of the orgy dome.
- 5:51Speaker 2: It's a good point.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I will point out that in the subheading of this
- 5:55Speaker 1: story from USA Today. Despite everything that Burning Man is
- 5:59Speaker 1: known for, which is the free expression, drug use and
- 6:01Speaker 1: all these things, it's actually quite popular with children as well.
- 6:08Speaker 3: With the family affair.

- 7:19Speaker 1: for our second meeting of Cowboys Anonymous Trey. You have
- 7:23Speaker 1: done the Lord's work in putting together a twelve I
- 7:27Speaker 1: mean thirteen step program for curing us of our addiction
- 7:32Speaker 1: to our Dallas Cowboys. What were the first two steps
- 7:36Speaker 1: that you shared with us yesterday.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Step one, we admitted we were powerless over the Cowboys,
- 7:43Speaker 3: Our team and it's salarycap have become unmanageable. Step two
- 7:49Speaker 3: came to believe that only a power greater than ourselves,
- 7:52Speaker 3: namely an owner GM and head coach, could restore us
- 7:56Speaker 3: to sanity.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Right, what is step three in your Cowboys Anonymous program?
- 8:04Speaker 3: Step three made a decision to turn our fandom and
- 8:07Speaker 3: our falls over to the care of a god as
- 8:10Speaker 3: we understand him, mainly someone who knows, actually knows football
- 8:15Speaker 3: and talent evaluation.
- 8:20Speaker 1: God slash GM. For me, it's going to be Will
- 8:24Speaker 1: McLay m.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Or the guy, I hate to say it with the
- 8:30Speaker 3: guy from Philly yeh, seems to know how to do it,
- 8:35Speaker 3: like Howie Roseman, I think, or something like that.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Oh, the general manager of the Eagles.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yep.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard to argue with that success that they've had,
- 8:41Speaker 1: as nauseous as it makes us as Cowboys fans, right,
- 8:46Speaker 1: I don't bemoan the success of the Eagles. I just
- 8:49Speaker 1: can't stand like most humans Eagles.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Fans, Yeah, that's I mean, they're insufferable.
- 8:59Speaker 1: So as the cow Boys limp into the regular season,
- 9:03Speaker 1: the first game against the Super Bowl champion Eagles, that
- 9:10Speaker 1: first game is just under a week away, Oh my god, Thursday,
- 9:17Speaker 1: September fourth. So keep these first few steps, these first
- 9:24Speaker 1: handful of steps in mind when it comes to your
- 9:28Speaker 1: addiction to the Dallas Cowboys. So thank you, Trey, thank
- 9:32Speaker 1: you for keeping us, keeping us on the path.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Oh you'd have one more?
- 9:37Speaker 3: Okay?
- 9:37Speaker 8: Good?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:38Speaker 1: What is the fourth step to freeing us from our
- 9:42Speaker 1: addiction to the Dallas Cowboys?
- 9:45Speaker 3: Made a searching and fearless inventory of our roster and
- 9:49Speaker 3: the time we've devoted to deluding ourselves about it, oh.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Man, including what to do with anything with Micah Parsons.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I feel comfortable in saying that not all of us.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I don't think all of us have a addiction problem
- 10:09Speaker 1: with the Dallas Cowboys, Trey and I do. Jerry, I
- 10:12Speaker 1: don't think you suffer from that particular addiction, do you.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I do not consider yourself lucky.
- 10:20Speaker 2: As it is. Over the next.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Week, Trey's going to be sharing with us his twelve
- 10:25Speaker 1: step program on curing all of us of our Cowboys addiction.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Not you, because you're better than that, also because you
- 10:32Speaker 1: have other problems.
- 10:35Speaker 3: But you can take take it and help other people with.
- 10:41Speaker 3: It's called c a Cowboys Anonymous.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Cowboys Anonymous. It's sort of like religion. We're asking you
- 10:48Speaker 1: to not necessarily go door to door, but when you
- 10:51Speaker 1: see a Cowboys fan in need, it's important that you
- 10:54Speaker 1: testify to them that there is help out there.
- 11:00Speaker 8: That would be my family, your whole family. The Yeah
- 11:08Speaker 8: Henderson's are hit deep in it, shall we say they
- 11:14Speaker 8: find Yeah?
- 11:17Speaker 1: They do say that addiction runs in families, So it's
- 11:21Speaker 1: very impressive that you've been able to sidestep that particular one.
- 11:27Speaker 1: But it's very difficult seeing those you love suffer.
- 11:33Speaker 2: All around you. Okay, So today's two steps were again Trey.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Step three made a decision to turn our fandom and
- 11:44Speaker 3: our falls over to the care of God as we
- 11:46Speaker 3: understood him, someone who actually knows about football and talent evaluation. Yeah,
- 11:53Speaker 3: and step four the searching and fearless inventory of our
- 11:57Speaker 3: roster and the time we've devoted to eluding ourselves about it.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Look, I'll give I'll give step number three a shot.
- 12:04Speaker 1: But as a Cowboys fan, I've been praying for like
- 12:07Speaker 1: three decades and he ain't been answered my prayers. So
- 12:11Speaker 1: maybe I'm just praying to the wrong one.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Yeah, or maybe you've deluded yourselves about certain things.
- 12:21Speaker 2: All right, you bring up a solid point.
- 12:23Speaker 1: It also makes sense as to the reason why the
- 12:27Speaker 1: roof at at and T Stadium, you know, Cowboys at
- 12:30Speaker 1: Jerry World in Arlington. I always liked how the old
- 12:33Speaker 1: stadium had the hole in the roof, right, and the
- 12:36Speaker 1: whole the story behind it was so God could see
- 12:38Speaker 1: his favorite team play. Now it makes sense that Jerry
- 12:41Speaker 1: keeps it closed most of the time. Or maybe it's
- 12:44Speaker 1: Jerry opens it, and God goes, no, no, no, no, no,
- 12:47Speaker 1: He's he just closes that bad boy right on up.
- 12:51Speaker 3: No, even God didn't want to hear the prayers of
- 12:54Speaker 3: Cowboys fans.
- 12:55Speaker 2: He's sick of us, but.
- 12:57Speaker 1: He has sent you instead. Just is message down from
- 13:01Speaker 1: the mount with your twelve I mean thirteen steps to
- 13:05Speaker 1: curing our cowboys addiction.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yeah, God's like, have you not seen enough to know?
- 13:12Speaker 3: I am not with this team?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Leave me alone.
- 13:24Speaker 4: You're listening to the tree House.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Visit us online at treehouseonair dot com.
- 13:39Speaker 6: You're in the Treehouse.

- 13:46Speaker 1: It is time to advertise right here inside the Treehouse.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Sponsorship opportunities are available if you're interested. To shoot us
- 13:54Speaker 1: an email Treehouse on Air at gmail dot com. That's
- 13:57Speaker 1: Treehouse on Air at gmail dot com. To advertise right
- 14:01Speaker 1: here inside the Treehouse. Last week I told you guys
- 14:05Speaker 1: about the men's Cuddling group based out of Pennsylvania. Twice
- 14:09Speaker 1: a month, these men meet and their objective. Their goal
- 14:14Speaker 1: is to redefine masculinity and help one another cure trauma.
- 14:19Speaker 1: We promptly made fun of that, and using that story
- 14:25Speaker 1: as inspiration, I've decided to turn.
- 14:28Speaker 2: It into a would you rather?
- 14:34Speaker 1: And well, I don't know if you're going to like
- 14:38Speaker 1: what you get if I'm being honest with you, So
- 14:42Speaker 1: here we go.
- 14:44Speaker 2: It is time for would you rather?
- 14:46Speaker 6: Here?
- 14:46Speaker 1: Inside the treehouse? And sometimes we call it zommando, but
- 14:50Speaker 1: at the end of the day, it's would you rather?
- 14:52Speaker 2: So here we go? Would you rather.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Join a naked fight club or a clothed men's cuddle group?
- 15:07Speaker 1: Would you rather join and participate in a naked fight
- 15:10Speaker 1: club or join and participate in a clothed men's cuddle club.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Let's go with Jerry first. Would you rather.
- 15:24Speaker 8: Which one men's cuddle club?
- 15:27Speaker 1: They're gonna go with the clothes men's cuddle club?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Why?
- 15:33Speaker 8: As many times as I've said that the best way
- 15:36Speaker 8: to get an advantage in a fight is to just
- 15:39Speaker 8: get naked before you do it if the other person
- 15:43Speaker 8: is willing, you know, there's there's stuff out there that
- 15:47Speaker 8: is just in danger. It's just it's just a safer thing. Plus,
- 15:50Speaker 8: you know I could I could use the extra love.
- 15:54Speaker 8: You know I got you. You could use a hug.
- 15:57Speaker 8: It's what you're saying, Yeah, I understand a.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Right, Trey? What about you?
- 16:01Speaker 1: Would you rather join and participate in a naked fight
- 16:04Speaker 1: club or a men's cuddle club. Clothed A clothed men's
- 16:11Speaker 1: cuddle club.
- 16:14Speaker 3: A tough one, I know, uh so hard. I'm gonna
- 16:24Speaker 3: have to lean towards a men's cuddle club knowing that
- 16:29Speaker 3: you know, Dan, you could be my cuddle buddy.
- 16:35Speaker 1: It could be me, though, it could be both of us.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I mean, it's good to be a pile of.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Us because I don't know naked fighting, just that there's
- 16:51Speaker 3: so many things that could go awry.
- 16:53Speaker 2: M I'm with you.
- 16:54Speaker 1: So I realized I wanted this to be a tough
- 16:58Speaker 1: question when I thought of it, and then I I
- 17:00Speaker 1: thought about it for about ten seconds. On the surface,
- 17:04Speaker 1: I was like naked fight club then, but then after
- 17:06Speaker 1: about ten seconds of truly thinking about it, I'm gonna
- 17:10Speaker 1: go with clothes cuddle club because look, you know, doing
- 17:16Speaker 1: a good old fight club thing like the movie sounds.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Intriguing, sounds manly.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I don't look like Brad Pitt, so I'm a little
- 17:25Speaker 1: hesitant to just completely strip in general. But when it
- 17:29Speaker 1: comes to a fight, if you're both naked, you don't know.
- 17:36Speaker 2: How that fight's going to go.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Because I mean the fight can start out standing up,
- 17:45Speaker 1: throwing a few punches, but if that fight turns into
- 17:48Speaker 1: a BJJ situation, then if.
- 17:51Speaker 2: You're both naked, you could drop a j real fast.
- 17:56Speaker 3: I mean, what if the guy on the other side
- 17:59Speaker 3: is more of an m M A.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Fighter, That's what I mean.
- 18:02Speaker 8: Yeah, it takes to ground.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, grounded pound and if you put you in
- 18:11Speaker 3: a scissor lot.
- 18:15Speaker 2: You will never get out.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yeah. Or if he's a wrestler, I mean then yeah.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I mean, look, if a rear naked choke is already
- 18:26Speaker 1: a terrible hold inside the octagon, now imagine a rear
- 18:30Speaker 1: naked choke by a naked man.
- 18:35Speaker 8: And naked. Yeah, that's double naked. That's not good.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I think I'm I think I'd rather cuddle than sword fight,
- 18:46Speaker 1: is what I'm getting at.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, if you're in an arm bar and
- 18:54Speaker 3: you've got a man's crank, you know that's now.
- 18:58Speaker 1: If you're at an arm bar and you're not sure
- 19:00Speaker 1: if it's an arm Yeah, you're.
- 19:08Speaker 6: In the tree house.

- 19:56Speaker 1: all your friends and family know that you listen and
- 19:59Speaker 1: laugh to the tree House Show together.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Let's grow.
- 20:05Speaker 6: All right.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Uh, this isn't necessarily another contender for a headline of
- 20:10Speaker 1: the week, but it definitely caught my eye, to say
- 20:14Speaker 1: the least. A boat captain was arrested on suspicion of
- 20:19Speaker 1: operating a container ship while drunk.
- 20:27Speaker 3: How drunk was he.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Six times the legal limit? Yeah, Now, keeping in mind
- 20:39Speaker 1: that for vessel operators, there's a difference between commercial vessel
- 20:46Speaker 1: operators legal limit for blood alcohol and recreational boating people.
- 20:51Speaker 1: For recreational boating people, it's usually likeero point h eight,
- 20:55Speaker 1: the same way it is if you're driving a car.
- 20:57Speaker 1: For a vessel captain, it's lower, it's point oh four.
- 21:04Speaker 1: So keeping in mind six times that is still point
- 21:07Speaker 1: two four is nothing to bat an eye at. That's
- 21:09Speaker 1: pretty drunk. It's certainly not the highest we've ever heard.
- 21:14Speaker 2: But that's certainly.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Higher than you want someone who is shipping around tons
- 21:18Speaker 1: and tons of goods on the planet.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Yay, maritime loth.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Things really are stricter out there.
- 21:27Speaker 3: You know, Yeah, because that's I mean, you're the captain
- 21:32Speaker 3: of a container ship. Those are pretty.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Big, Uh, they really are.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Under federal law, a person operating a vessel other than
- 21:40Speaker 1: a recreational vessel with blood alcohol concentration of point oh
- 21:43Speaker 1: four or more is considered to be under the influence
- 21:48Speaker 1: the uh. The captain of the MSc Jubilee nine, a
- 21:53Speaker 1: three hundred and thirty three meters container ship operating under
- 21:55Speaker 1: the Liberian flag, was arrested on Wednesday in Seattle. That's
- 21:59Speaker 1: according to a news release from the Coast Guard. A
- 22:02Speaker 1: Puget Sound pilot aboard the ship had reported to the
- 22:05Speaker 1: Coast Guard watchstandards that the captain was exhibiting signs of intoxication.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I'm on the boat.
- 22:13Speaker 1: The pilot and first mate operated the vessel from near Everett, Washington,
- 22:17Speaker 1: to the port of Seattle without incident. After the ship
- 22:20Speaker 1: moored at Terminal five, a Coast Guard team and Coast
- 22:22Speaker 1: Guard Investigative Service agents boarded the vessel.
- 22:26Speaker 2: The captain completed.
- 22:28Speaker 1: A field sobriety and breathalyzer test, which they said found
- 22:31Speaker 1: he was impaired at more than six times the legal
- 22:33Speaker 1: limit for commercial mariners. Whoops, he was arrested. He was
- 22:37Speaker 1: arrested and transported to King County Jail without incident. The
- 22:41Speaker 1: good news is, I imagine he was so drunk he
- 22:43Speaker 1: didn't have the energy to be incidental.
- 22:47Speaker 3: You said three hundred and thirty three meters. Yeah, that's
- 22:52Speaker 3: almost four football fields.
- 22:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 8: Yeah, that's a big boat.
- 23:01Speaker 2: So so.
- 23:03Speaker 8: Six times the maritime limit yep. So that means two
- 23:07Speaker 8: and a half percent of his blood was alcohol.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Zero point two four percent? Oh point two four percent? Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 23:19Speaker 1: mouth all right.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you did sixty times.
- 23:26Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure that.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure if he was sixty times I legal limit,
- 23:30Speaker 1: then that that boat would still be going.
- 23:34Speaker 2: But it would be really funny looking.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You can imagine if if captains had to do a
- 23:42Speaker 1: road like a like we have to do roadside sobriety tests,
- 23:45Speaker 1: you know, walk a straight line like imagine a captain
- 23:47Speaker 1: has to do it, but with a ship. M HM
- 23:50Speaker 1: can't even fathom. And I'm trying to find the story
- 23:56Speaker 1: back here again. Uh, the vessel was given a relief captain.
- 23:59Speaker 2: It has since been.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Clear you're to resume operations. Just imagine being what do
- 24:03Speaker 1: you do for a living?
- 24:04Speaker 2: I'm a d D really.
- 24:08Speaker 1: For shipping container captain, because they just need me on call.
- 24:17Speaker 3: That's gonna be a pretty good gig. Actually, relief captain.
- 24:22Speaker 8: They just pay you to be on call, just in case,
- 24:26Speaker 8: Just in case.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it'd suck if you had picked that week to
- 24:34Speaker 3: go on a bender yourself.
- 24:37Speaker 1: The good news is, I feel like we finally have
- 24:39Speaker 1: an angle for Captain Phillips too.

- 25:36Speaker 1: is on YouTube. Speaking of today, today is day August
- 25:45Speaker 1: twenty nine, twenty twenty five. Birthdays Today from One Direction,
- 25:50Speaker 1: Liam Payne is thirty two. Wait a minute, is he
- 25:55Speaker 1: the one that died?
- 26:01Speaker 3: M that's out of my realm of boy band knowledge.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I think he's the one that died. Like he was
- 26:07Speaker 1: at some resort in Costa Rica and someone gave him
- 26:10Speaker 1: someone from the hotel staff gave him some drugs, and
- 26:13Speaker 1: I think he was drunk as well, and I think
- 26:15Speaker 1: he threw himself off the balcony of his.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Room or something.
- 26:18Speaker 8: Yeah, that was Liam Payne.
- 26:20Speaker 2: All right.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I should send a note to the prep Service to
- 26:22Speaker 1: update their birthday list because I don't think he's going
- 26:25Speaker 1: to be celebrating today.
- 26:27Speaker 8: That was October sixteenth of last year. He was obviously
- 26:30Speaker 8: thirty one.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Then it was a big swing and a miss there.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Prep Service a good thing. I recognized it as as
- 26:39Speaker 1: a dead guy. Anyway, So rip to Liam Payne. Happy
- 26:44Speaker 1: birthday to him if you're celebrating somewhere, Liam, anyway, other
- 26:51Speaker 1: birthdays today, maybe for on a happier note. Liam Michelle
- 26:54Speaker 1: from Glee is thirty nine today. Beth Dover, who plays
- 26:59Speaker 1: a lin to Ferguson on Orange Is the New Black
- 27:01Speaker 1: is forty seven. Rufio, Oh God me, God.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Me in the hole.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Rufeo is fifty today. Oh God, that stings like it's
- 27:29Speaker 1: bad enough when you turned fifty, Tray, that made me
- 27:32Speaker 1: feel old, even though you were the one turning fifty.
- 27:35Speaker 1: But for some reason, hearing that Rufio is fifty.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Oh, if you don't know who Rufeo is, then you
- 27:44Speaker 2: need to go do some learning that.
- 27:47Speaker 1: The actor's name is Dante.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Basco.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Dante Basco turns fifty. He is the leader of the
- 27:55Speaker 1: Lost Boys. In the movie Book.
- 27:59Speaker 8: That Does hurt.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Oh great, Robin Williams.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Robin Williams playing Peter Pan.
- 28:10Speaker 8: Nobody else could have done that.
- 28:12Speaker 2: No, not even not.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Even close, And it really did like it. It shook
- 28:17Speaker 1: me when Hook killed Rufio. I think it shook everyone
- 28:21Speaker 1: because everyone thought, oh, it's a family film, it's fun
- 28:23Speaker 1: and blah blah blah blah blah.
- 28:25Speaker 2: And next thing you.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Know, he's got a he's got a saber in his chest.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Is like, oh my god, actually just killed him. That
- 28:34Speaker 1: was That was one of those jarring deaths as a child.
- 28:37Speaker 1: It's not quite up there with Old Yeller, but it was.
- 28:40Speaker 1: It was a shocking twist in that movie. Why are
- 28:42Speaker 1: you making that face?
- 28:42Speaker 6: Trey.
- 28:45Speaker 3: I don't know I would say it was that shocking.
- 28:47Speaker 1: It was pretty shocking. Maybe it's because you're a handful
- 28:50Speaker 1: of years older than me, so it wasn't It didn't
- 28:54Speaker 1: have the same effect on you as it did me.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I mean, you know, it was sad, but it was
- 29:00Speaker 3: not Old Yeller.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I said, it's not at the level of Old Yeller.
- 29:08Speaker 1: But as far as shocking movie deaths in family film,
- 29:15Speaker 1: slash kids and movies, that was a surprising one because
- 29:18Speaker 1: I grew up watching the Disney stuff, you know, with
- 29:20Speaker 1: Peter Pan, and it was, you know, Peter Pan fighting,
- 29:23Speaker 1: you know, Captain Hook. Captain Hook gets eaten by the alligator,
- 29:25Speaker 1: but he's not actually dead. Peter Pan never got stabbed
- 29:29Speaker 1: by Hook or ever got hooked by him. He never
- 29:30Speaker 1: saw any of the Lost boys in the cartoon die
- 29:34Speaker 1: at the hand of Captain Hook. But one live action
- 29:39Speaker 1: movie and man, they just ran Rufio right through.
- 29:43Speaker 3: I mean, maybe this is the age difference, but Peter
- 29:46Speaker 3: Pan turning down the Julia Roberts taker Bell, that was shocking. There.
- 29:53Speaker 2: It lies the difference at the ages of when you
- 29:55Speaker 2: saw itself. Yeah, you're right, that is more shocking.
- 30:03Speaker 4: You're listening to the Treehouse.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Visit us online at Treehouse on Air dot com.
- 30:22Speaker 6: You're in the Treehouse.

- 30:39Speaker 1: contact info, and more when you visit the website Treehouse
- 30:43Speaker 1: on air dot com. I'm a little ashamed to admit it,
- 31:12Speaker 1: but I had actually forgotten about Julia Roberts as tinker
- 31:16Speaker 1: Bell in Hook and Trey. I want to say thank
- 31:19Speaker 1: you for reminding my dull brain of that, because I
- 31:23Speaker 1: got so focused on the fact that they killed Rufio
- 31:26Speaker 1: in that film, I forgot about the other really hot
- 31:28Speaker 1: part of it, which was Julia Roberts as tinker Bell.
- 31:35Speaker 3: That's definitely the age difference.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because what year did Hook come out?
- 31:44Speaker 3: Ninety ninety one? I feel like.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I think you're right. I want to say ninety ninety one,
- 31:48Speaker 1: which would have had me at ten or eleven, so I.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Wasn't quite there at that age.
- 31:55Speaker 1: I do remember seeing Julia Roberts as tinker Bell in
- 31:58Speaker 1: that film and thinking, oh, hi, nineteen ninety one, okay,
- 32:04Speaker 1: So I would have been eleven when that came out,
- 32:06Speaker 1: which would have made you Trey.
- 32:08Speaker 2: What about fifteen, sixteen years.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Old, No, anyone. I was seventeen.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Okay, so you when you saw Julia Roberts as tinker Bell,
- 32:16Speaker 1: you were like hey, Now. Meanwhile I was like, oh hi,
- 32:22Speaker 1: So yeah, you're right that age difference was the big
- 32:26Speaker 1: factor in there, about the big impression that Hook left
- 32:30Speaker 1: on us as children.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Because yeah, you probably didn't really appreciate Julia Roberts a
- 32:34Speaker 3: pretty woman.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Then it took a couple more years, but I got there.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Now that being said, I have long I have long felt,
- 32:47Speaker 1: no pun intended. I have long felt that Julia Roberts
- 32:50Speaker 1: is a very stunning woman, but not necessarily one that
- 32:58Speaker 1: I find myself.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Like, oh my gosh, she's hot.
- 33:01Speaker 1: It's more like, I can appreciate the fact that she's
- 33:03Speaker 1: a beautiful woman, but I don't necessarily see her in
- 33:06Speaker 1: that same light that I might, you know, somebody else.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Julia Roberts the one kind of a redhead and most
- 33:16Speaker 3: a lot of that stuff that gets me every time
- 33:19Speaker 3: red curly hair. I'm done.
- 33:21Speaker 2: That is true for you.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Now, maybe it's because she didn't do a whole lot
- 33:28Speaker 1: of sexy roles or whatever.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I don't know if that had something to do with it.
- 33:32Speaker 1: But I just didn't see her as like like like
- 33:34Speaker 1: a not like Marilyn Monroe, like a sex you know,
- 33:37Speaker 1: pot icon kind of a thing, just a you know,
- 33:40Speaker 1: beautiful and good actress and everything. But all that being said,
- 33:45Speaker 1: when you mentioned Julia Roberts as tinker Bell in Hook,
- 33:50Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, I do remember that, and
- 33:52Speaker 1: I do remember feeling and thinking that something was kind
- 33:56Speaker 1: of stirring in my ten eleven year old self. So
- 34:00Speaker 1: I pulled up the photo just to remind myself. So
- 34:03Speaker 1: here is Julia Roberts as tinker Bell and Hook with
- 34:08Speaker 1: the little the short haircut, the pointy ears, the little
- 34:12Speaker 1: drab outfit. And that's before she tried to shoot her
- 34:19Speaker 1: shot with Peter Pan slash Robin Williams. Because when she
- 34:25Speaker 1: did the shooting of her shot, she had a bit
- 34:28Speaker 1: of a makeover and she looked a little bit different
- 34:31Speaker 1: when she got human sized, because that's when she got
- 34:35Speaker 1: that curly red hair that traced all about and yeah.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Look at that that.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I'm a forty five year old man looking at Julia
- 34:48Speaker 1: Roberts as tinker Bell full size. There's something about pointy
- 34:54Speaker 1: ears that I'm feeling weird about, like like like in
- 34:59Speaker 1: a good way.
- 35:02Speaker 3: If I'm Peter Pan, I'm crowing all over.
- 35:09Speaker 2: And I ain't stopping.
- 35:11Speaker 9: Banger ring baby, Oh not long, last boys.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Get out, seventeen year old me.
- 35:28Speaker 3: That's an all.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Nighter, oh man.
