- 0:00Midrash Rubber Parashat Shamat share #3 This Midrash is
- 0:05phenomenal, and I love the thought that goes into this
- 0:07Midrash. So again, looking at the
- 0:09beginning of this week's Parashatva ilah Shamat beneath
- 0:11Israel, and then the Midrash wants to know, why are we
- 0:14enumerating the names of the tribes?
- 0:16We know them so well from the previous weeks.
- 0:18It seems rather unnecessary. Now look, look what?
- 0:23Look what the Medrash does. It's fascinating.
- 0:26Our shame. Gulachi Israel.
- 0:28Niskurukan. It's amazing.
- 0:30In a verse that describes the descent of the Jewish people to
- 0:35Egypt, which is the opening stages of slavery and all that
- 0:40follows, the measure says the children of Israel are mentioned
- 0:43in this pasuk by their name, because encoded into their name
- 0:49is a is an illusion, is a hint at gula of redemption.
- 0:54So a verse that speaks of slavery actually contains the
- 0:58very hint of our exit and our salvation, which is fun, which
- 1:05is fascinating. Ruvan, Why did you call him
- 1:08Ruvan? Because we can think of this
- 1:11pasuk raiti at Oni AMI, as it says in the pasuk Hashem said.
- 1:17I have indeed seen like Ruvan, to see the affliction of my
- 1:21people, that is in Egypt. And then the Midrash goes
- 1:26through the different names. So just to go through a few of
- 1:30the names, we don't need to go through all of them Shim on
- 1:32because the verse says Vaishma again to hear Hashem heard na
- 1:37khatam they're groaning Levi al shame shinit khabeh kadosh
- 1:41barhool at Sarah Tam Levi means to accompany because on the
- 1:45count that Hashem joined the people of Israel in their
- 1:48distress. How?
- 1:51By appearing to Moshe Arbeno from the burning Bush and it's
- 1:55and the pasuka and Tahilim Imar Anahi.
- 1:57But Sarah, I'm with him in distress.
- 2:01We jump to the end of this particular midrashic comment.
- 2:05We get to to naftali our shame Tarahum mitzvot on account of
- 2:11the Tarahum mitzvot the Hashem was going to give the the Jewish
- 2:13people after their redemption from Egypt.
- 2:16As it says in relation to Tarahum mitzvot, Umat tukim
- 2:19mitwash for nafet sufim. They are sweeter than honey and
- 2:22drippings from the honeycomb. So what's naftali?
- 2:27It's Noffet Lee drippings from me, the sweetness of the Torah.
- 2:32And we get down to yourself because in the IT, it does the
- 2:35Midrash al shame Shah al Tida Kadoshbar, who in the future
- 2:38Hashem will once again loss if League olit she's from in Malkot
- 2:43Harasha. Hashem will redeem the Jewish
- 2:45people again from the wicked Kingdom of Asaf this time, just
- 2:49as he redeemed them from Egypt as it says in the pasuk Vaya by
- 2:54Omahu will be on that day. Joseph Hashem Shinich Yadah that
- 2:58the Lord will once again Joseph will show his hand and the
- 3:01entire matter that's written in the chapter there in the book of
- 3:06Isaiah. It's worth looking up Chapter
- 3:0911. What's really going on here.
- 3:12There's an incredible insight from Rob Gadaliyaru Sharon in
- 3:15the OR Gadaliyaru says as follows.
- 3:17The Egyptian exile was designed to condition and purify the
- 3:20Jewish people. It was to prepare them for for
- 3:23our mission in the world. In order to achieve that
- 3:26purpose, the trials of the exile would have to be intense, and
- 3:29tragically, dreadfully so. The Jews in Egypt would be
- 3:32severely stricken, and if they were to survive, they would need
- 3:35to be fortified with an array of spiritual strengths.
- 3:39In a sense, the situation would like a seed that goes into the
- 3:42ground and falls apart, only to then grow something beautiful.
- 3:48And whilst it's true that we were badly broken in body and
- 3:51soul, but we were never totally at a loss.
- 3:55And that spark, the name that emerged from them, would emerge
- 3:59and be the secret of our survival.
- 4:02So we contain a tremendous amount of inner strength and and
- 4:06we can deal with adversity by remember remembering our names.
- 4:10Our names are powerful symbols of who we are because it and the
- 4:14point being that if you go down for what looks like it's
- 4:16slavery, it's actually to refine you and to improve you, which
- 4:21might help us understand another midriff from another place.
- 4:24That by not changing their names, it meant that they
- 4:27allowed that power, that potential encoded in their names
- 4:30to accompany them and ultimately brought about that redemption.
- 4:35Have a wonderful day.
