- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, this is incredibly sad news.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Allie was just uh sharing this with me that we've had a loss in the uh entertainment world, and uh No, Travis hasn't bailed out on the wedding.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: That's not the loss we're talking tacking about.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Jackity B.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: No, it's uh Well, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 0:17SPEAKER_02: Dick Van Dyke we know is up there.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's under Brooks.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: Well, Brooks just turned 100 too.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, this guy uh it's uh party in the sky.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: I'd like to welcome everyone to stand another feed of my rally, please.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Young man, I am done Young Ben.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: I dance little arms.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: Keep going uh happy uh 250th in here somewhere.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, so what are the village people passed?
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Ellie just told me, and I I of course I'm like, I look at her and I go, Well, which one?
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: The Indian, the uh the cop, the mailman?
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: The construction worker, the construction worker, was there a mailman?
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: No, there wasn't.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: It was the cop.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, he was correct me if I'm wrong, he was a uh Victor Willis is his name.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Victor Willis.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Was he the black guy with the really cool 70s mustache?
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: Uh did he have a mustache?
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Uh he had a well, it was a mustache and he had I mean it went all the way down to his chin and everything.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, he had a a goat?
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: But it was almost like almost Fu Manchu looking.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: Into like it was a very long situation.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: So we've lost one of the village people.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: I know, what a sad day, right?
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe they can finally get around to getting that mailman.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: 74, which if I think about it, my parents are 69 years old.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: 68, 69, somewhere around there.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: Like that's not that oh my gosh, that's not that old.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Ironically, the same year that they had a hit.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: All right, so at any rate, lost.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: I think were you here when I mentioned that I saw the Earth, Wind, and Fire documentary?
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: No.
- 2:05unknown: Yeah.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: It's really good.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: I think it's I think you should watch it.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: Quest Love did it, and I think he did a fantastic job of it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Because they uh that's also one of those iconic songs.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: Like um, whenever you hear September, this is very similar to we were talking about the FIFA song, the uh Country Roads by John Denver.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: When it comes to September, this is another one that it doesn't matter the age, the race, the religion, anything.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: It crosses boundaries.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: Yes, everyone sings it.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: And they showed that.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: They showed so much footage of just different events where people were just sitting there singing it because it came on.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: Baseball games, soccer games.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: And that's the way it works.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: You're just sitting there and all of a sudden the first like four beats.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: You know, not that we want to confuse anyone.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: As far as we know, no one died from Earth Wind and Fire today.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: No, but I didn't know that the lead singer died from Parkinson's.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: I learned that at the while ago, yeah.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: I didn't keep up with that.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Two more seconds, and then I gotta tell you something funny.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Do you remember Holy Christmas, September?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: I I don't know what it is.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: There are just certain songs that, you know.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: That span span the ages.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: All right, well, anyway, moving on from that.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: So I want to revisit something that we talked about last week that you were almost on board for, and then I magically switched you very quickly through the conversation, and you joined my side, the right side.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: What not the right side like that?
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: You mean the correct side?
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: The correct side, yes.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: So do you remember the entitled bitches that were getting on uh the whole uh video thing about Arby's and uh how they were supposedly uh put off by the fact that someone that works in a distributing field was going to bring the the ladies of this spot.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Wait, let's back it up.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Let's back it up.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: The what this is is it's a trend on TikTok.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Yes, it is.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: But it's all sounds so literal.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: But it sounds so entitled.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: No, I know.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm so and then all of a sudden you and I started looking up the menu of RV's.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And we're like, wait a second.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Like, did you Okay, did you pass?
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: No, I you didn't pass RV's today, I passed RV's today.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: I know what I did yesterday.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: That's where I'm going.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Well, I love, and I I mentioned this yesterday on the show when you weren't here.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: I love the chicken salad.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: I don't know what it is.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, really?
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, so it in the videos on TikTok, it comes across in kind of a way, and they're trying to play it off as though they're like, Arby's.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Who goes to Arby's?
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Well, because what the the thing is, when you work in the and I know uh Tiffany knows this very well, when you work in the health industry, a lot of times there'll be like pharmaceutical reps and salespeople that come in and they're trying to schmooze you a little bit.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: So they'll come in and bring you lunch.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: And usually there'll be something like uh Ella's Acres or Panera.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Like they're salad go with the OG, the Olive Garden, the big salad in the soup, you know, that way, right.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: It's usually like a nice salad, it's a nice bread, a coutrement thing.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: So when you hear like Brief and Cheddar, I know it really throws you off.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So, and that's what you think, right?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: And and we agreed on this last week, I think it was last week, somewhere in there, that it is the fast food place that unfortunately gets passed by for like McDonald's BK Wendy's far more often than it should.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: So, anyway, uh, and and it it is funny because as we went through that last week, you were looking at the venue going, God, this actually looks pretty good.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but every time I go uh maybe I shouldn't say this because does Arby's advertise.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, no, I mean nationally, but but hold on, I'm coming to that part of it too.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Because everybody gets a little piece of this.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: You know, everybody from the entitled vibe of the TikTok videos to the Arby's.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: So yesterday we're driving back from Rochester, starving, right?
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, we've been to the genetics place, we've been to Costco, and we're like, we gotta eat.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: And you didn't you didn't fill up on those samples?
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Uh not a lot of samples on a uh random Wednesday at the Costco.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: So uh at any rate, we're coming up to Dansville.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Well, I go.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: Did you stop and see Zach's mom?
- 6:08SPEAKER_02: No.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Uh wave to her as I was driving by the TA.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Hi, Rhea.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Rhea, I'm right down here at the TA gas station.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: So uh what are the landmarks?
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: So I go, there's an Arby's.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: You want to go there?
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: She also likes the Arby's.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: And so we're like, yes, let's go to the Arby's.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: So I first have to tell you, I ended up getting a euro yesterday.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Top notch.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, I uh you have to uh it was excellent because I was like, ooh, they have a Ruben.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, but I'm like, shouldn't get the Ruben if we're driving because that becomes a drippy sandwich.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: And even the girl behind the counter was like, yeah, that that can be a drippy sandwich.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: So we're all in agreement on that one, right?
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Sounds disgusting.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, I think I'm gonna go with the Euro.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: You know, it it was excellent.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Bang for the buck and all that.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Now I will tell you, at 2 30 in the afternoon, sitting at the Arby's in Dansville.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Um, it is very much the start of the senior citizen club there.
- 7:04unknown: Oh yeah.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: There was a table that literally was there before we got there.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: Martha, you ready for your dinner?
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Still talking after we left.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: You know, there was like three of them.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: You know how the uh the old the old hens get together.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: The old biddies.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Then I see another older and much older couple couple come in, and the woman's still the boss.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Just want to let you know, you're gonna hold the title for a long time to come.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Because here's this poor, frail, old, hunched over man carrying a tray.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: And you hear his wife go, go all the way down, meaning the line of booths.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: But I have to tell you, this is where the poor Arby's, they get the they get undercut.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: And Tiffany got that that chicken salad that you were talking about.
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: That's so good.
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: When I was in Watkins, God's so good.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: I ate it a ton in Watkins.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Now, as for the decor of the Dansville uh Arby's, I have not been in in a long time.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: If you'd like to pop into a time machine that takes you right back to 1988, that's the place to go.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, it the everything about it was straight out of 1988.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: So it's not- I love that.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna tell you why.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: For me, it was cool because I remember working fast food in that era.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna tell you why I love that, because all these fast food places are getting a little too modern for me.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Do you remember?
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, there is no order by yourself kiosk at this Arby's.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Let's oh, really?
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Oh no, you go up to the girl where you can smell the grease coming out of that back kitchen like it was just making fries in '91.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: But think about like what McDonald's looks like right now.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: I would love to bring it back where there was the do you remember the little chairs that were hamburgers that you sat on as a kid?
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: So they were kind of like uh almost like a bar stool.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Can we go back?
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: Can we go back to the nostalgic look?
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: Arby's in Dansville kind of got something going on.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: They have the brown booths, you know, the brown plastic booths and all that.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: So that's or Wendy's.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: Remember Wendy's used to have the tables that looked like newspapers?
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Bring them back! That's what I'm saying.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: You guys are getting way too modern.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: If you want to keep a kiosk, fine.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: I'm okay with that.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: But bring back the decor.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Well, I guess that I'll never sit in.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: I haven't sat inside of a Wendy's McDonald's or an Arby's.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: We were actually gonna get it to go, but then I'll tell you in a minute where we ended up going and uh why we ended up saying, Oh, let's just eat here before we start driving.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: The only time I go inside a McDonald's is once a year when Scott and I go to Wellsboro.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: Yes! Yes, and we always end up going, I gotta pee and I need a diet code.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: That's exactly right.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: Let's go inside McDonald's.
