- 0:00But Upper bound Bound Banger management Fantasy hockey
- 0:03podcast. Woo woo.
- 0:06No woo for Josh to day very sad, but the two best Bangor
- 0:13management hosts. It's funny that you said because
- 0:16I was thinking the exact same thing.
- 0:18What are the odds? At least the two best ones are
- 0:21still here. That's it, that's it.
- 0:24Josh wishes he could be here today, but he is unfortunately
- 0:30heartsick from the lack of exciting trades this week.
- 0:33He was, I know this man probably like ruined the muscles in his
- 0:38finger clicking refreshed whole day on Friday and now he's sick.
- 0:42So what are the coincidences? I don't know.
- 0:45That's it. That's it.
- 0:47OK. Speaking of trades, today is our
- 0:50Week 20 News and Updates episode.
- 0:52Of course, we got our famous Would You rathers in there as
- 0:54well. We're going to focus a lot on
- 0:57the trays from the past week. Some are decently fantasy
- 1:00relevant. A lot of them are not to be
- 1:02expected, but we'll give those an honorary mention anyways.
- 1:06It was it was it was crazy because I mean, I was at work
- 1:09and I had so many meetings during the day and I remember
- 1:11being in a Discord like me. I remember Shepard commander was
- 1:14like sending all the links, everything, every time stuff was
- 1:16happening and we didn't get so many blockbuster trades like no,
- 1:20no troll track move, no Robert Thomas moving the end.
- 1:24We thought that was like a certainty at some point.
- 1:27So I was kind of disappointed overall, but I still think we
- 1:30got some we got some surprises. We'll talk about them, but well,
- 1:33how would how would you rate this trade deadline?
- 1:37Um, so for, I mean, there have been some great trades this
- 1:42year, but the deadline day slash, I think it's a deadline
- 1:45week at this point. Realistically, it was pretty
- 1:47underwhelming. Although I feel like in recent
- 1:49years it's sort of been the same thing.
- 1:50A lot of big moves throughout the year and then at the
- 1:55deadline it's just kind of like OK, I would say this is like a
- 2:00like A7 on ten. It wasn't bad.
- 2:02Like we definitely have some some names questionable
- 2:05destinations as well, but. I was gonna give a six or a 6
- 2:091/2. Fair enough.
- 2:11We we did get some surprises like the, I mean, we got Kadri
- 2:15after the deadline. That was a surprise.
- 2:17Like deadline was over. And then 15 minutes later they
- 2:20were like, oh, yeah, by the way, this happened.
- 2:22Yeah, I know in the middle of the night that John Carlson,
- 2:24we'll talk about that too. But no check kind of
- 2:27disappointed me, although I will say.
- 2:28And then we can get into everything for all your children
- 2:32owners out there. I know you guys were
- 2:33sympathizing with me, the discord, but this was probably
- 2:35the best case scenario for him. Like doesn't move away from the
- 2:39Rangers, keeps the Rangers playoff schedule.
- 2:41He's now arguably the one see on the team.
- 2:46I mean, I think they're just gonna run the main line through
- 2:48check. That's what I'm saying.
- 2:49But line one, power play 1. I think honestly this was like a
- 2:55trade in itself, the fact that he didn't get moved so pretty
- 2:58happy. Yes, yes, OK, before we dive in,
- 3:01follow us on Spotify, Apple podcast, wherever you get your
- 3:04podcast, we are there rate US five stars if you like what you
- 3:08hear we're almost at 105 star ratings on Spotify.
- 3:13We have one non five star it's. You know who you are, actually
- 3:17don't know who you are, but please let us know so we can
- 3:21find out why. Yeah, subscribe on YouTube this
- 3:26video a like if you enjoyed all the socials are in the podcast
- 3:28subscription and be sure to join the discord community.
- 3:32I know we kind of give this intro listing the socials and
- 3:36the discord and everything before and I will say 11 great
- 3:40thing I'm realizing is now that we're really down to the wire in
- 3:42our fantasy season and it's not looking super great for me, even
- 3:46though I our standings are neck and neck.
- 3:48It's super tight all around. But I will say the fact that we
- 3:52have such a great community of followers and listeners and
- 3:55people who we interact with on the Discord, it's really made
- 3:59the whole, I don't know if I'm gonna make the playoff situation
- 4:03a lot better. And I think I will because, and
- 4:07it's just like you will tremendously tight.
- 4:10That's it. We're all gonna make it.
- 4:11But it's like from the top team to the 8th place team in the
- 4:15playoffs, this is the tightest it's ever been in our league
- 4:17because it got super competitive so.
- 4:19Our week, week 20, is the last fantasy week for us before the
- 4:23playoffs start. So Week 21 is the first round of
- 4:26the playoffs. And currently there's only one
- 4:28team that's secured a playoff spot.
- 4:31Like our league of record is 14 teams, 8 of them make the
- 4:34playoffs. And I think there's like 10
- 4:37teams right now that are actually in the mix that could
- 4:39all make the playoffs. And then I wouldn't be shocked
- 4:41if any of them win the title this year, which is nuts because
- 4:43usually it's just like me, Jake and Josh were like, you know,
- 4:47three of the top four teams and then the final is one of the two
- 4:50of us or two out of the three of us usually.
- 4:54So the fact that this year is like so much more competitive, I
- 4:57don't know, maybe people are listening to anger management.
- 4:59That's. It that's it.
- 5:01We've gotten a more competitive league, which is what we wanted
- 5:04all along. But it's like that Warrior mean
- 5:06I've won, but at what? Cost.
- 5:07Yeah, literally, that's. It, that's it.
- 5:10I'm just still sad about that Celebrity Holloway trade.
- 5:12But not to dive too much into. That let's not bring it up.
- 5:15I'm gonna rent. Yeah, seriously, let's dive into
- 5:20the content. So we're gonna list, as
- 5:22mentioned, the top trades and then we're going to mention, you
- 5:25know, all the all the relevant ones, dive into them.
- 5:28Yeah, exactly. And maybe a few tidbits here and
- 5:30there for them. So let's start with the big
- 5:33ones. We have Nazem Cadre traded to
- 5:37Colorado from Calgary, the full trade here.
- 5:40I guess I'll list the full trade for the top ones.
- 5:43Colorado gets Nazem Kadri in a fourth round pick.
- 5:45Calgary gets a first second Victor Olson and Max Curran.
- 5:51My instant reaction to this was this was it felt inevitable when
- 5:57they made the Brett collect trade earlier this, you know,
- 5:59few weeks ago or week at this point.
- 6:01I'm so bad with time, um, like the, the money added up just
- 6:05enough for them to get Kadri and we thought it was going to
- 6:09happen even though we were like, OK, I don't know what they're
- 6:12going to give up and where he's going to slot in the lineup
- 6:14necessarily because machines line 1, Brock Nelson's line 2.
- 6:17Those are two great centres. Are they really true Page to put
- 6:21on line 3 or is Brock Nelson going to get bumped to line 3?
- 6:25And I think, I mean, Jake and I were talking about this.
- 6:29I think probably Cadre's going to play on the wing and it's
- 6:33gonna be like a line 2 winger situation.
- 6:36They'll have to jumble up the lines a little bit.
- 6:39Victor Allison going the other way to Calgary.
- 6:43I think he could have some fantasy relevance, but I see him
- 6:47kind of just like a matte Coronado esque a little bit,
- 6:49maybe slightly worse, just like lower shot volume.
- 6:52I don't know what his deployments going to be, but I
- 6:54don't think it's going to be super fancy relevant unless
- 6:56you're in a really deep deeply, but Kadri.
- 6:58Even then, I don't know if he thought on a power play 1, even
- 7:02though it's the worst power play in the league.
- 7:04I don't know how much you know value to attribute there, but
- 7:07people are like, oh, this card you must pick up, must pick up.
- 7:09I'm like, I would brisk walk to pick up Audrey on the waivers.
- 7:13I feel like I'm not the I'm not dropping a big boy name to the
- 7:16potential of Nazem Kadri in Colorado because I just don't
- 7:19think there's enough room for him there to have sustained
- 7:23level of production. Like we were worried about
- 7:25Landeskog not having to deployment all the time.
- 7:27But what he has is it's great, right?
- 7:29I don't see cache being better than line 2 power play 1.
- 7:32And I don't know if that's enough to like have him be at a
- 7:35certain level of value. Yeah, if he does actually have
- 7:39that, I mean, it's pretty good, but at the same time.
- 7:42Easily be linked to Power Play 2, and I think if that's the
- 7:45case I'm probably not interested.
- 7:47He could, I mean, so so this is one of those that it's a it's a
- 7:52weird one because he won the Stanley Cup with them as they're
- 7:55lying to centre. But because Nelson's just been
- 7:57so good all season, I think they're they're no, there's no
- 8:01way that Kaja is going to take the line to see.
- 8:03I'd be very surprised. The other thing that they may do
- 8:09is they may just kind of spread the wealth a little bit more and
- 8:13make a quote UN quote loaded line 3, meaning they keep line 2
- 8:16as Colton Nelson chicken and then when likening comes back,
- 8:19they'll have Nick Wah, Kadri and Lehkonen.
- 8:24But are you would be like line in the league?
- 8:26Yeah, it would be amazing. I mean, they're centre depth is
- 8:28ridiculous right now. That's the truth.
- 8:30But you're right, I don't think, I don't think it makes sense to
- 8:33have traded what they did for Nikola in order to put them as
- 8:37line for centre. And at that point I think that
- 8:41it's likely that Kadri will end up or second line.
- 8:46Now he could get 1st instead of Landeskog.
- 8:48That's not impossible. It's been stable and that would
- 8:50be pretty cool. Yeah, like the power play is
- 8:53because they're power play is still not surprisingly that
- 8:57good. You would think that it would be
- 8:59huge to have them on power play one, which I agree it's a
- 9:01question mark. But if he gets line one, that's
- 9:04where the where I'm most excited over all the way.
- 9:06I agree it's not crazy and I don't think it's impossible for
- 9:08him to play on the wing. Best case scenario, like you
- 9:10said, is he bumps Landeskog offline one power play one on
- 9:14power play one. It's it's McKinnon, it's
- 9:15McCarthy nature. That's the trio.
- 9:17Brock Nelson has been like one of the only other rotating parts
- 9:21there that has actually stuck around because he's been
- 9:22actually pretty good. That's four names.
- 9:24The first one is Landeskog. You know, it was Landeskog,
- 9:27Trushkin, Lickin that was kind of like the rotation there, but
- 9:29Landeskog got stuck. If code is replacing Lansing on
- 9:31line one power play one, I'm interested.
- 9:34I just don't think that's going to happen.
- 9:35And if it does happen, I think it's a small likelihood because
- 9:38one of the talk has actually been finding his groove and he's
- 9:40been successful there. So I just don't think going to
- 9:42mix things up too much. So yeah, but if you have Large
- 9:45on your team, I think I'd be excited just at the potential
- 9:48because he was not really doing much on Calgary before.
- 9:51Yeah, I'd say, I'd say my prediction line 2, Power play 2.
- 9:54That's that's my prediction as well.
- 9:57Yeah, alright, cool. Let's move on to the next one.
- 10:00The Anaheim Ducks acquired John Carlson in exchange for a first
- 10:04round pick and a third round pick.
- 10:06I like this one. Actually, I think that this is
- 10:08pretty interesting one. This might be the best fantasy
- 10:12trade that happened because first of all, I don't think
- 10:17anybody was on this. There was no rumors of John
- 10:19Carlson getting traded. We also did it in no like where
- 10:23he could be treated if he was and this broke.
- 10:26I think I like 11:00 PM at night or close to midnight.
- 10:28Eastern Time caught everybody by surprise.
- 10:33The I mean, the main question here is who do you think keeps
- 10:36power play 1 Is it John Carlson? Is it Jackson Lacombe?
- 10:39I know last last night they played and it was the first game
- 10:43Anaheim played. It was trade deadline day, and I
- 10:47mean, Jackson Lacombe had a great game.
- 10:49I don't know if you saw his game log, but he had like 2 points.
- 10:53He actually performed really well.
- 10:54But John Carlson wasn't playing yet.
- 10:56So what's what's, how is it going to be when he's healthy
- 11:01and ready to suit up? First of all, I think 55, this
- 11:04is great. I think for the goalie, it's
- 11:05great. I think for the team, it's
- 11:07great. Anaheim is a playoff team for
- 11:08the first time in a long time, and they're making moves to, you
- 11:12know, be better. Love it for them.
- 11:14Love it for the team. It brings a good veteran
- 11:16presence with leadership. But that power play one, if
- 11:20it's, I'm way more interested in Carlton.
- 11:21If he is a line one power play 1.
- 11:24For sure. Well, the line 1 is a that's
- 11:27whatever, but the power play one, well, I just feel like.
- 11:30It could be the Coleman Carlson and I mean that's I mean that's
- 11:34a lot of minutes. And then the power play 1 is the
- 11:37the real killer become hasn't necessarily been exceptional
- 11:40there, right. Like it's kind of been
- 11:41underwhelming. More writing on name value than
- 11:44actual production. Funny enough, last night, he
- 11:46actually does really well. But it could be or maybe Carlson
- 11:52is line 2 power play one. But if he's power play 1, I
- 11:55think he still has it in him. Like people are gonna say, oh,
- 11:57look at Washington. He got bumped off.
- 12:00He's not even that good. He couldn't keep it on his old
- 12:01team. But like Chicken is an elite
- 12:03defenseman. He's also way younger.
- 12:05So I understand it. But I would not hold it against
- 12:08John Carlson to get bumped off by Chicken.
- 12:10And even when Chicken was there, John Carlson was on it too.
- 12:13At certain points. They were running both guys.
- 12:15I think he could be very successful.
- 12:17And also, I just want to say we tried to tell you to sell John
- 12:20Carlson the whole season, like he was like a must sell at
- 12:23certain points just because of the point wasn't there, but the
- 12:25production was. If you weren't able to make that
- 12:28happen and you were caught holding the bag, this basically
- 12:30saves your bag. It brings them back to fancy
- 12:33relevance in my opinion. So if that happened to you, you
- 12:36should be happy. So, so the way I see this look
- 12:40home is actually been on an absolute terror.
- 12:42It's not just last game. It's it's like really since the
- 12:44Olympic break, he's been yeah, yeah, since the Olympic break,
- 12:48he's gotten one game without a point and then one of them, he
- 12:51had two. So mathematically he's a point
- 12:52per game. Since the Olympic break.
- 12:54This is all sorts, of course it. Was a little bit lower than you
- 12:57would expect. Actually, it's it's not been bad
- 13:00to tell you the. Truth better recently for sure.
- 13:02Yeah, like. So six games, he's got three
- 13:05power upload points. It's .5 over the last week and a
- 13:09half, two weeks since the Olympics.
- 13:10And at the end of the day, I think that that's gonna bode
- 13:13well for the chances of him keeping it.
- 13:14What I like about this is 1 the real life implication.
- 13:18You said that's great. The implication for Anaheim, for
- 13:22Anaheim, it's fantastic. And I also think that look I
- 13:25mean even without power play 1 he can still be one of those non
- 13:30power play one decent defensemen to own.
- 13:33If he doesn't get power, that I'm not interested.
- 13:35I'm just I'm not necessarily think he's gonna have enough
- 13:37points to do it and that he's not a banger guy either.
- 13:40So. Well, look, he's 91% owned in
- 13:43Yahoo right now. It's in the day.
- 13:45Like this to me makes him makes him like, I guess a bit more
- 13:50attractive than he was on Washington for a large part of
- 13:54the season when he was not getting the power play one.
- 13:56Like I think that this trade is good.
- 13:58I don't know. It's one of those that it's kind
- 14:00of up in the air and I don't think Lacoma has a lock on
- 14:03there, but he has been super good recently.
- 14:05So it's a question mark. It's not one of those though,
- 14:07like Minnesota trading for Quinn Hughes.
- 14:09They're doing it to make him a certain power other one
- 14:12quarterback. That's far from the case.
- 14:14It's still up in the air, but there is a chance that he could
- 14:16see power play 1 And I think that Washington, I think that
- 14:19Anaheim is a good place for. That the also Washington get out
- 14:23that yeah, both him and Lacombe could be on power play one like
- 14:26Anaheim has kind of possibility won't split units.
- 14:29Like they just have their talent pretty spread out.
- 14:31Would I be shocked if they run both guys on one unit?
- 14:34I would be shocked. I think it's unwise because they
- 14:36have Jacob Trouba quarterbacking in one of the units and that's
- 14:39just not that guy for that. So I think they're going to
- 14:42have, you know, in the lead, probably quarterback had both
- 14:44like, you know, Lacombe and Carlson both having their own
- 14:45units. But would I be shocked if
- 14:47they're like, let's just try this out and see how it goes.
- 14:49Just putting it out there. I I think that he has the
- 14:52pedigree of having like been a really good player in his
- 14:55career. So they're gonna give him the
- 14:56chance to succeed offensively. You know, I'm actually looking
- 14:59at like his game log and he has been dealing with some injuries,
- 15:03but overall on the season he has been good.
- 15:06So maybe slight correction. I don't know if he'll
- 15:08necessarily be as good as he has been on the season.
- 15:10But as we've mentioned on the podcast several times, it's come
- 15:13in waves. So the average is maybe a little
- 15:15bit deceiving. I think that it could be if he
- 15:17gets the chance to be on the power play 1.
- 15:19Pretty consistent and a good player on for the rest of the
- 15:22year. Yep.
- 15:23If you still hold John Carlson, I'd be happy.
- 15:27I think that's a good. Thing I'm not dropping him.
- 15:29It's the same as Kadri. It's like it doesn't make it.
- 15:31It doesn't make it glaringly worse.
- 15:34This trade, if he ends up being lined to power play 2, I just
- 15:37don't think he's gonna have enough value to be a mainstay on
- 15:41your roster. And at that point, we'll
- 15:43probably suggest cut it. But for a moment, I'm excited.
- 15:46Yeah, me too. OK, Next one, the New York
- 15:50Islanders trade for Brayden Schenn.
- 15:52St. Louis in return gets a first
- 15:54round pick, a third round pick, Jonathan Druitt and Marcus
- 15:58Gidlow off. I think that this can maybe go
- 16:00in the history books as the drew and trade.
- 16:02That's a joke. This was a surprising one, to be
- 16:08honest. Like it was we were following
- 16:09the Blues for so long because we were like, OK, like it's Robert
- 16:12Thomas. It's Bennington is a two big
- 16:14names out there. Ice cream Bennington early
- 16:16because I was like, I need to get ahead of it.
- 16:17If he gets traded, I need a goalie.
- 16:19I'm desperate. Millington doesn't get traded.
- 16:22Robert Thomas doesn't get traded.
- 16:23Like he's going to Buffalo guys, it's over.
- 16:25And then it's like actually Buffalo is not willing to pay.
- 16:28Oh, we're trading Colton Preco. Actually, he's not moving as a
- 16:30no, he's not moving his no move clause.
- 16:33So a lot of shenanigans happening with close, but this
- 16:35whole lot of pieces they sold and they sold their captain and
- 16:39now we have to talk about it. But the line 2 probably going to
- 16:43be power play 2 and I just I still view Brayden Schenn the
- 16:49same way. If you didn't leave on Saint
- 16:50Louis, he's kind of just like a banger middle 6 forward that is
- 16:55going to be better for bangers leagues because he has the
- 16:57category of coverage and the points are just not an element
- 17:00that I'm necessarily streaming him for.
- 17:03Like, I think they can be there. I think on an island in that,
- 17:06you know, more prolific. He could be exposed to more
- 17:08points, but it's not something that I'm expecting out of this
- 17:12game. So, yeah, I mean, this team,
- 17:16this team is like one of those, if you look at the roster, it's
- 17:19like why have they been so solid all season?
- 17:22It doesn't really make sense. There's not any certainty at all
- 17:27that he'll get a look on power play one.
- 17:29It's just not his game. Like you said, he's an enforcer
- 17:31and the line. What I do like about this for
- 17:36his fantasy outlook as compared to what he's had, you know,
- 17:39coming into this, this trade deadline, is that now he has the
- 17:42opportunity to get more minutes and his minutes have been there.
- 17:47They've been kind of a little all over the place, sometimes
- 17:4915, sometimes 18. So I think that's like a solid
- 17:52difference. You know, at the end of the day,
- 17:54if he does play a lot, which I think that they're they're
- 17:58they're traded for him. So he could be the line to
- 18:00centre. So I think it could bode well
- 18:04for his his banger categories. And yeah, it's it's it's not
- 18:07bad. I mean, it's not that exciting,
- 18:10but I think it's one of those similar theme to the Kadri and
- 18:15John Carlson one. If you own him, you're kind of
- 18:19you're not unhappy with this at all.
- 18:20I will say two more small tidbits and then I'll let you
- 18:24try them in here. You know, when a player gets
- 18:28traded to another team during the season, it's just like
- 18:30ambiguous. Padre has played on the
- 18:32Avalanche, so I think that that could be good.
- 18:33Yeah. Carlson, if he gets the
- 18:34opportunity, could be fun. Brayden Schenn is a banger guy.
- 18:38He's not, he's not a points guy. So I think that, you know, that
- 18:41can translate well. And if he has the minutes, it
- 18:43could be good here. And not exactly relevant to this
- 18:47trade, but kind of the last three Stanley Cup winners all
- 18:51had the captain from the previous team get traded to that
- 18:54new team. So you're saying the Islanders
- 18:57are gonna win the Stanley? Cup, I'm saying the Islanders
- 19:00which were betting podcast now or the Wild or the Wild because
- 19:04they got Quinn Hughes and Nick Felino.
- 19:06True, the whole interesting. I mean, I think Josh and I on
- 19:10the last meal back episode, we it was one of the ones that you
- 19:14ended up missing Jackie, But we had a question that people ask,
- 19:16like who's your standing up like prediction right now?
- 19:19And we both said the wild. Wow, So it was the wild from the
- 19:23West, and I think I said Tampa from the east for you, who Josh
- 19:27said. I think Josh also would be a
- 19:28Tampa, But I can see that the Wilder they made so many depth
- 19:33moves this trade deadline to kind of just like show up their
- 19:36bottom 6 and just make themselves more well-rounded and
- 19:39they have a lot of top ten top end talent.
- 19:41But but last thing on Britain, Chen, would I be shocked if you
- 19:44got power play 1 exposure? No, the island is kind of like
- 19:46really split their units just talent wise.
- 19:49You know, the unit would Shaffer is going to be the first unit.
- 19:51That's basically a given. So there's the Horvat, Barzel,
- 19:55Schaefer trio that's there. And then the two other pieces
- 19:58always kind of like rotate. You would think it be some of
- 20:00their better players, but right now it's like Holmstrom and
- 20:02Callum Ritchie. So would I be shocked if Shen
- 20:05gets a look at one of those spots?
- 20:07Maybe he plays some net front. I would not be shocked.
- 20:09So if that's if that actually happens, he could be way more
- 20:12valuable even in bangers leagues.
- 20:14But he's going to get you shots, hits face off, wins some blocks,
- 20:18and that's like elite category coverage, therefore.
- 20:21That's what you want from SO. Yep.
- 20:25OK, let's move on to the next one.
- 20:28Detroit Red Wings trade for Justin Faulk.
- 20:31In return, Saint Louis gets a first, a third, and Justin Hull.
- 20:35Justin for Justin. Yes.
- 20:38All right. I'm curious about what you think
- 20:40about this one. This is an interesting one in
- 20:42my. Mind, there's a lot of ways of
- 20:44this could go. Obviously, Saint Louis loses
- 20:47their power play quarterback. We talked about this before as a
- 20:49possibility earlier on the podcast a few weeks ago when we
- 20:52started hearing Justin Fox name out there.
- 20:54So first of all, I'm monitoring who's going to be the power play
- 20:56one quarterback for Saint Louis because I think they get a bump
- 20:58in value. Maybe Parreco might be 10,
- 21:00Fowler again might be Broberg. We'll see how it goes now to
- 21:06Detroit. Do I think Justin Faulk will be
- 21:08power play one on Detroit? Is he going to, you know, take
- 21:12over from more cider? It's in the range of outcomes.
- 21:15I will say right now leading unlikely.
- 21:17I think Falk ends up being the power play 2 quarterback.
- 21:20I'm more interested also because that's the first Domino's like
- 21:24power play one. Do we think yes or no?
- 21:26If he if he is the power .1 quarterback, he gets a
- 21:29significant boost in value guys. So if you if Justin Faulk is on
- 21:32your waivers, I would try to go pick him up.
- 21:35I'd be proactive about it. If by the time listening to this
- 21:37he's still available, I'd probably cut your worst defence.
- 21:39But to take A chance on Justin Falk, if he's available, might
- 21:42it might just be he's like line 2 power play 2 or whatever and
- 21:46he doesn't end up being valuable.
- 21:47You cut him at that point, but the chance that he could be
- 21:49powerful, one of those Detroit power play I'm taking the chance
- 21:53would hurt Siders value. Now the next thing that I need
- 21:57to mention is I'm an owner of Edmondson and Sharat on my
- 22:01league of record team. I got 2 bangers D from this
- 22:03team. I'm basically thinking, OK,
- 22:06where does Faulk slot into the lineup?
- 22:08How does how does that affect the minutes of these other
- 22:10players? So they play less minutes.
- 22:12They're bangers get worse, less valuable as a whole and just
- 22:16become a stream. So those are the things that I'm
- 22:18monitoring. But I really like this for
- 22:20Detroit. I think they made an excellent
- 22:22trade. I would have hoped they gotta
- 22:23like they were in for Robert Thomas.
- 22:25They were in for the show checks, doves moves could have
- 22:27made them like title contenders. I think the teams around them
- 22:30got better and they kind of stayed stagnant or a little bit
- 22:32better. So if I'm some of Detroit player
- 22:35like Dylan Larkin, I'm a little bit upset.
- 22:37My GM at the trade deadline being like, I thought this was
- 22:40the year we're actually making a push.
- 22:41Nothing happened. What, what, what gives, you
- 22:44know? So what do you think?
- 22:46So for the for the Saint Louis Blues, I think that it's it's
- 22:51one of those that it's, it's we said this coming into the trade
- 22:55deadline that basically if you know, the the veterans gets
- 22:58traded, that what's going to happen is that the young guys
- 23:00are just going to have the opportunity to kind of play and
- 23:05make mistakes and learn and stuff like that.
- 23:07So I think that for whoever gets the power play one there, it's a
- 23:11decent opportunity on an exciting team.
- 23:15And by exciting, I don't mean they're gonna be good.
- 23:17I just mean that they could have some like, good fantasy assets
- 23:20that are kind of flying under the radar.
- 23:22I wouldn't be surprised. And I'm a little biased saying
- 23:24this because I picked them up. Maybe Logan my you gets a look
- 23:26on power play. One he might, he might.
- 23:28It's not impossible, and that would be pretty fun.
- 23:31My odds on favorite are I think it's Fowler just because we've
- 23:34seen him be there before. But you know, saying this is not
- 23:37a team is trying to win right now.
- 23:38Do they give my you a look there?
- 23:40Absolutely could. Yeah, and he should be like
- 23:43they're, you know #1 defenseman moving forward they were hoping
- 23:47for. Exactly.
- 23:48So that's what I think about Saint Louis now.
- 23:51I think there's just a few parallels between Detroit
- 23:53acquiring Folk and the Ducks acquiring Carlson, except I
- 23:58think that Detroit has better offensive defensemen that Folk
- 24:04would have to beat out in order to get power play one there.
- 24:07So Cider is the obvious choice is there right now, and then
- 24:13Edmondson and maybe even Sand and Pelica.
- 24:16That's scarier to me than Carlson trying to beat out
- 24:21Lacombe and make like what? Michkov is their second best.
- 24:26No, he's never run that unit. So that's kind of the way I see
- 24:30it, is that for Carlson to actually get that it's a little
- 24:33bit more likely, and for folk to get power play one, it's less
- 24:37promising. So from a fantasy perspective, I
- 24:41don't love this really. I think that this makes focused
- 24:44value drop decently and I do like it for Detroit.
- 24:48Though overall I guess I'll kind of take the other side of the
- 24:50coin here is that now they have a pretty solid decor and could
- 24:54maybe make a decent push. My expectation is I think the
- 24:58line one on the decor would side and Edmonton says the same and
- 25:01then I think it's line 2 is going to be Sharad and Faulk.
- 25:04And then Bernard Docker would get bumped down whether he stays
- 25:07in the lineup or not or if it's, you know, Johansson or standing
- 25:10pulling that gets bumped off. I think that's probably the most
- 25:13likely case. And I mean, I think we'll have
- 25:17to wait and see other practice lines shake out who are folk
- 25:20ends up. I think Fall goes to power play
- 25:222, but if he gets the power play 1 he might be one of the guys
- 25:26that may have the best fantasy value after this trade deadline.
- 25:30Talk about that, she gets traded.
- 25:32Absolutely I mean cider cider is the most likely one to to keep
- 25:38it only because he he literally never misses a game, which is
- 25:42absolutely insane. I think he's played every game
- 25:44in his career so far, which is extremely impressive.
- 25:48And also, like I was going to say, you know, this could be a
- 25:51good move, let's say, for for injury insurance or whatever
- 25:54similar. If, you know, Lane Hudson gets
- 25:57hurt, then you got Dobson. He was able to play there, but
- 25:59but Cider doesn't like, he's just indestructible.
- 26:04So yeah, I don't know. I think that this is a good move
- 26:08for Detroit as a team. I don't love it for fantasy for
- 26:12folk. OK, this is this one.
- 26:16I do like though. This one's really fun.
- 26:19Utah, the Utah, the Utah the Utah mammoth of choir.
- 26:24Mackenzie Weeger in exchange for 1/3 a second Ali Mata and
- 26:30Jonathan Kastania. Not related to lasagna.
- 26:35That was a bad Yeah, that's that's an important preface
- 26:39before we dive into the before we dive into this.
- 26:42So as much as I, as much as I think that, well, I mean, look,
- 26:47Sergachev actually hurt now. So there's there's that he he's
- 26:51day-to-day. We're gonna we're gonna dive
- 26:52into that a little bit later on in the episode.
- 26:55Sean Dorsey is the power play one there.
- 26:56In the meantime, I think that if this is a long term thing for
- 27:00Sergachev, hopefully it's not because I own him, but whatever.
- 27:04I I think that that weaker would slot on the power play one with
- 27:08Sergachev back. I really don't know, but I don't
- 27:10think it's impossible. And I just think that that
- 27:13wiggers proved to be a tremendous fantasy asset in his
- 27:16career in a bangers league. I I liked him.
- 27:19I liked him every year except for this year pretty much since
- 27:22he started becoming good on Florida.
- 27:24So this could be one of those where it's a good opportunity
- 27:26for him to kind of be Wigger of old in a sense and get back to
- 27:31maybe like if he has power play 1.5 with trials, two hits, two
- 27:35blocks, and that'd be great .5 points to clarify.
- 27:38I mean, that's the thing with bigger, right?
- 27:39Like he was arguably the worst, no top five defensemen pick in
- 27:45Bangor league drafts this year, right, because he did not live
- 27:48up to the value at all. He was a guy that, you know, you
- 27:51drafted to be a banger stud with, you know, power play one
- 27:55on a team that is like probably below average, but not the worst
- 27:57team in the league. They were arguably one of the
- 27:59worst team in the league this season.
- 28:01You know, he didn't even hold the power play one spot for a
- 28:03long time. The bankers weren't always
- 28:05consistent. So I think Wigger had like his
- 28:08worst fantasy season. He he held name value way more
- 28:11than like actual production for way longer than he was supposed
- 28:13to. What was going down?
- 28:16I think Bolt goes back up after this, but I think you have to
- 28:19temper your expectations or temporary expectations.
- 28:21Whichever 1 you should do is that's the one that you have to
- 28:24do. I don't think he gets power play
- 28:261. I think Sergachev is the guy.
- 28:28I think Jersey is the guy ahead of him.
- 28:30I think he would be 30 pecking order, absolutely OK.
- 28:33He couldn't even hold it on Calgary and Calgary has an
- 28:35abysmal power play. So I think, I mean, Utah's power
- 28:40play is second worst to Colorado.
- 28:44I don't think this is the partly move they were trying to make.
- 28:47Yeah, I'm just happy. I'm just happy that I think it's
- 28:51a good ice time. I think his bangers could be
- 28:54better. Like, there's a world where that
- 28:55happens, but I just think you're gonna get kind of like Mackenzie
- 28:59Weeger of old. It just helps Utah a lot for,
- 29:01like, their, you know, playoff push and their success.
- 29:04It really helps their defensive core.
- 29:06I think the question here is more so are you interested in
- 29:10the next guy up in Calgary And everybody was like rushing to
- 29:13pick up Zane, correct? And I was like, whoa, whoa,
- 29:15whoa, whoa, whoa, hold your horses here.
- 29:17Like I get it. You know, we're always
- 29:19interested in the new power play, one quarterback on the
- 29:21block. So you have to first of all, you
- 29:22have to know what is lock on evaluate.
- 29:26Now I'm like, OK, Parekh is a rookie.
- 29:28So first of all, we don't know how high his ceiling is, what
- 29:30his potential is. We saw with Schaefer, we could
- 29:31be like, you know, Islanders are are a dollar sign, dollar sign.
- 29:34But then Shaver comes in and everything is different.
- 29:36It's perfect. The same type of player thing
- 29:38has a lot of potential. Don't think the shape or type of
- 29:40guy. He doesn't have the category
- 29:42coverage. Exactly.
- 29:43He's not. He's another category coverage.
- 29:45Calgary is not a good power play.
- 29:46There's a lot of talent around him.
- 29:48I think he's the type of guy that you could pick up being
- 29:49like, OK, I have the power of the quarterback for Calgary and
- 29:52he's never gonna live up to what you want him to give you this
- 29:55season. I would.
- 29:56I would not. I don't say I wouldn't waste my
- 29:58time picking him up. If you have the luxury of taking
- 30:00the chance on him, I would, but I don't think he's going to be
- 30:03the guide us to help you on your fantasy team for this playoff
- 30:05push. That's my take.
- 30:07Maybe I'm wrong, I'm putting it out there.
- 30:09Maybe he is the God. It elevates everybody around him
- 30:12and makes it successful. It's a possibility.
- 30:15I just think that it's so low that I'm not risking, you know,
- 30:17my valuable waiver wire moves at this point in the season on him.
- 30:21Yeah. So parachute is not is going to
- 30:27be that good this year. I'm confident in saying that.
- 30:30He's had 17 games so far this season.
- 30:32He has point. Shafer, on the other hand, is an
- 30:35absolute generational defenseman who I think.
- 30:37Is gonna. Be like, yeah, it's like, so I
- 30:41know that there's kind of a trend in that defenseman who are
- 30:4621 years old, which is young for a defenseman, can actually be
- 30:51good in the NHL. This is not something that was
- 30:53always the case, but it's kind of become a reality.
- 30:56But halfway through the season on an already horrible team,
- 31:00yes, he had an incredible world juniors, there's no doubt about
- 31:03it. But I really don't think that
- 31:05like I think they're going to keep him on power play one,
- 31:07which is good, but I don't expect it to be anything crazy
- 31:12just because Calgary isn't a bad spot as far as the weaker side
- 31:16of it. The silver lining of this trade,
- 31:20I would say it's not even really a silver lining.
- 31:21It's just more like I like his floor here because on Florida
- 31:26and yes, this is like, you know, four years ago or whatever and
- 31:29the game has changed and stuff and we're now power play
- 31:31defensemen are even more valuable than they've ever been.
- 31:35But he was not always power play 1 and he was still really good.
- 31:40So I think he's the type of guy that can be a very decent player
- 31:44on your fantasy team without power play 1.
- 31:46You know, you said you don't want draw Carlson unless he's
- 31:48not power play 1. I get it, but weaker even if
- 31:51he's if he's not there, I think he could be really solid first
- 31:55autism blogs and a points league, way less interested, but
- 31:58a bangers league. I think that this is this is an
- 32:00opportunity for him to get back to classic, but weaker than
- 32:03that. You're like.
- 32:04I agree with you. I think we're saying the same
- 32:06thing because I think he's already good at shots and blocks
- 32:09like he was. He averages over over two shots,
- 32:12over two hits, over 2 blocks. It's exceptional.
- 32:14But Darnell Nurse, that too. There's other guys that you
- 32:17know, get close to doing that. The reason we are gets drafted
- 32:19so high is because he's also on power play 1 and has that
- 32:23exposure, right? He'll get you like .25 power
- 32:25play points, slightly over .5 points between .5 and .6.
- 32:28And that gives him the edge over all these other guys that are
- 32:31just doing the bangers. But this season he wasn't doing
- 32:33that. He was he wasn't even hitting
- 32:35point .1 power play points and the points were just not even
- 32:38there. And that's why everybody was
- 32:40disappointed because the reason that he was better than a
- 32:42Darnell Nurse was the power play exposure.
- 32:44I don't think he's getting the power play exposure on Utah
- 32:46either. So I think it's just going to be
- 32:48the same. You know, Mackenzie Weegar that
- 32:50we love that gets two shots, two hits, two blocks, and he has a
- 32:53high ceiling in all those. Like he can hit juice seven hits
- 32:56or seven blocks in any given game.
- 32:58I just don't think the power play exposure is there.
- 33:00And I think that's why I think it's kind of like a lateral move
- 33:02for his fantasy value, but better for Utah and their
- 33:05aspirations and stuff, so. Yeah, that's fair.
- 33:08I, I, I guess, I guess I see where you're coming from.
- 33:11It could be that the points are just not gonna be what they what
- 33:14they were last season. And the power, I mean, the power
- 33:17play points for a defenseman were tremendous actually.
- 33:19Yeah, that's why you so exceptional.
- 33:22Exactly. But I do think so.
- 33:25You think overall though, is this like a sign of better
- 33:27things to come for him? Or I think he's playing on a
- 33:30better team. Yeah.
- 33:32So so I expect, you know, he might be able to do better
- 33:36bangers, but it's the time of ice.
- 33:38The question like if he might be line 1, he could be a line 2 and
- 33:42be power play 2 or line 2 and not even on the power play
- 33:45because they have circuitry running the 1st and Thursday
- 33:47running the second. Like it's it's just about the
- 33:49time of ice. That's the question to me.
- 33:51But if you're trading for Mackenzie, bigger thing has a
- 33:52lot of pedigree and I think they might play in the important
- 33:54minute. So you might be like a, you
- 33:56know, integral PK guy and maybe 5 on five.
- 34:00Maybe they do put in line and he's playing the big minutes, so
- 34:04I'd be curious to see where his banger levels shakes out.
- 34:07Yeah, but I think it's probably going to be more of the same.
- 34:12OK, yeah, fair enough. All right.
- 34:14And I'd say this is one of the last big ones over here for
- 34:18trades. The Seattle cracking acquire
- 34:21Bobby McMahon in exchange for a second and a fourth round pick.
- 34:25OK, Toronto does not get the 1st that they wanted.
- 34:27We always heard, you know, give us a first for Bobby McMahon.
- 34:31And people are like, no. Yeah.
- 34:35So first, first thing I will say here for the Seattle cracking
- 34:40commentators, I'm sorry that I have to distinguish between
- 34:42McCann and McMahon. That's going to be confusing.
- 34:48I yeah, I really think that that's gonna be a a bit of a a
- 34:52bit of a difficult one for them, especially like, I mean, Mcmath.
- 34:55Wait, I don't remember exactly. Yeah.
- 34:58Do you know what number he was? McMahon?
- 35:01I can't think of it off the top of my head on Toronto.
- 35:04I cannot think of it on top of my head.
- 35:06Either anyway, I've just I think anyway, whatever it was 3rd
- 35:11Jared McCann is 19. So if he goes like 29 or
- 35:14something like that, that's gonna be an absolute an absolute
- 35:18disaster. But all this to say that the
- 35:21more the more relevant for your fantasy leagues. 74 Does that
- 35:26make sense? 74 OK, yes, it is.
- 35:29That's what it was. OK.
- 35:30So that's a far cry from 19. So hopefully they're gonna be
- 35:32OK. He's just to say, hey, we
- 35:36sympathize with the Seattle cracking commentators because
- 35:39it's that's close. McCann Hickman definitely.
- 35:42OK, now on to the trade part of it.
- 35:45I guess we'll I'm gonna just take a look at Toronto here
- 35:47first. I think that I think that
- 35:49McMahon was actually having a very solid season.
- 35:53He wasn't really power play one at any point or you know, but so
- 35:58I think that as far as that goes, you know, the traditional
- 36:01way of looking at this, that's OK for the Toronto assets.
- 36:04Now, does this make them actually worse because he was a
- 36:07decent player for them? I don't think so, but I
- 36:10definitely don't think it makes them better.
- 36:12I guess the one beneficiary here is that hopefully Easton Cowan,
- 36:17they actually give him some opportunity to stay in the
- 36:19lineup and to to play on the online too.
- 36:24And I think that that could be good.
- 36:26I think the main, the main thing from this is on Seattle, where
- 36:31do you think is going to line up?
- 36:32Because we know, we know that big man can be a double, double
- 36:36guy. He's a guy that's gonna get you
- 36:37some shots from his exposure and forgot it's very low raw sort in
- 36:40fantasy leagues. He's actually pretty good at
- 36:42that. But this, this is, I don't want
- 36:45to say not exciting to me, but Seattle's already a team full of
- 36:49middle 6 wingers and they just traded for another one.
- 36:52They wanted, you know, they were in the Panarin sweepstakes and
- 36:54they didn't happen. That would have been like a
- 36:55really big, you know, give us that superstar winger that we
- 36:59can build our team around. They just have another Eberly,
- 37:01another Tolvanen Schwartz, Like he's just throw another name in
- 37:04the bucket and by McMahon. So yeah, I think he's going to
- 37:08end up being line 2 power play 2 is my guess.
- 37:13He could be line 3, power play 2.
- 37:16He could be line 3 power play one.
- 37:18Like that's kind of like the range.
- 37:19I just don't think he's a slot on line 1.
- 37:23So I think it's just gonna, it's gonna be similar value to what
- 37:25he was on Toronto, maybe slightly more minutes that makes
- 37:27slightly more valuable. I think it's fun for, you know,
- 37:31bangers that need that double, double coverage.
- 37:34But besides that, he's he doesn't become a game breaker
- 37:36now. He's just something you're
- 37:37interested in and maybe gets slightly more minutes and that
- 37:40helps. Yeah, I think, I think the only
- 37:42thing is that it was it was shots, hits that made him a good
- 37:46player to own in Toronto. And he's gonna keep up the shots
- 37:49and hits as far as where he's gonna go, like I really have no
- 37:53idea with looking at this. I mean like unless maybe he
- 37:58could play centre and nobody knows about it, then maybe
- 38:00there's room online too. But otherwise, like I've been
- 38:03told and said, really good, good production this year.
- 38:07Maybe he can buck bump Berkeley Caton off.
- 38:10But I mean, I think that Katie's so like a good up and coming
- 38:12player and they're gonna wanna make sure that, you know, he has
- 38:16he has the opportunity. But with Seattle fighting for a
- 38:18playoff spot, I guess the the most likely scenario is that
- 38:22Kaden just kind of in and out of the lineup and McMahon's gonna
- 38:25go line 3. That's what it is.
- 38:28Not exciting. Yeah, definitely not that
- 38:30exciting. But to be able to have a shots
- 38:34hits guy on your team is nice, but it's not the destination you
- 38:40were hoping for to actually bring out some more offensive
- 38:42potential. All right, let's blow through
- 38:45some of these next ones. If they're not super fantasy
- 38:47relevant, we'll just like say the trade and we'll move on.
- 38:49If it is fantasy relevant, we'll give a little tidbit.
- 38:52But those are those are the big guys that were like most of the
- 38:55players are fantasy relevant. Yeah, and unless it's like a
- 38:58first round pick, I'm not really gonna say all the picks in
- 39:01exchange because it's going to be a lot, a lot of words.
- 39:03OK. Buffalo Sabres acquire Luke Shen
- 39:07and Logan Stanley. Winnipeg gets a second plus in
- 39:12return. Yep, I think this is the earlier
- 39:15the only the only thing is they're they're decor is now
- 39:19like average height is like 6-5. I don't know if you saw, but
- 39:22it's like, yeah, everybody's like they got some 6 sevens.
- 39:24They got some 6167. Yeah, but I think Logan Stanley
- 39:29will be in the lineup. I think Shen will be the guide
- 39:30us like in and out of the lineup.
- 39:31So if you were streaming him for some hits and blocks like I was
- 39:34in another league, probably not relevant anymore for Buffalo.
- 39:38They wanted Perico. I don't know.
- 39:39They said they got the big swing.
- 39:41He didn't he didn't move to go there.
- 39:43So disappointing, but Buffalo is are you one of the best teams in
- 39:47the league right now? So they.
- 39:48Yeah. They're gonna be a fun team to
- 39:50watch the playoffs. Yeah, I mean, I, I don't know if
- 39:54if anyone heard our predictions in the offseason, but we
- 39:57absolutely chose Buffalo to beat out Florida considerably in the
- 40:01Atlantic. Totally like everybody else,
- 40:04right? Now this is.
- 40:06This is so surprising, but I will say the only thing to add
- 40:11here is that this is just like, so like offline offence wins
- 40:15games but defence wins championships.
- 40:17Yeah, this is exactly what they're trying to do is.
- 40:19They're decors loaded and they put so much stock into it.
- 40:24Yeah, alright, next Colorado gets Nick Lot in exchange for a
- 40:28first round pick. Plus, interesting here because I
- 40:32mean, we spoke about this, we don't have to dive into it, but
- 40:34the fact that he got it first, that's what makes it seem to us
- 40:37that he's going to be a staple on that line 3 setup.
- 40:39So I'm gonna put him on line 4 if they gave him.
- 40:41First, he's just a good bottom 6 centre to have like arguably I
- 40:45would say one of the more talented line three seasons you
- 40:47can have. He's got some potential to him.
- 40:49Like if he was put in a better role, like in the top six role,
- 40:51I think he could thrive. He's done it in the past, but
- 40:53this is just go watch list guy and maybe he he's becomes an
- 40:56injury replacement somewhere in the lineup if they they do get
- 40:58banged up more often. But yeah, I like the quality
- 41:01player, but this trade just makes Colorado an even stronger
- 41:04championship contender. Yep, next Edmonton acquires
- 41:08Jason Dickinson and Colton Dock. They gave a first and Manjani
- 41:12for. This are actually the worst
- 41:13trade the trade deadline. Yeah, I mean, I think Manjani
- 41:17could at least stay in the lineup on Chicago.
- 41:19She couldn't stand the lineup on Edmonton, you guys.
- 41:21Cook, that's what I'm saying. Like Chicago's less good.
- 41:24So it's yeah, OK, but Colton Dock hits and I think that's the
- 41:29other like, I don't know, He he I don't think he's gonna even
- 41:32play really like. She hits.
- 41:34They were saying Jason Dickinson is like one of the best, like
- 41:36shutdown centres in the entire NHL.
- 41:39So basically Edmonton traded like a first round pick to, you
- 41:43know, get a guy that's going to be able to play like top PK
- 41:46units for PK minutes for them and really shore up their, you
- 41:49know, penalty kill. I think that's also why they
- 41:51traded for Connor Murphy potentially.
- 41:54But yeah, fantasy wise, this is not relevant.
- 41:57I think Edmonton could have done way better with the assets they
- 42:00did give up this this trade cycle.
- 42:02The whole Tristan Jarry thing was a whole debacle.
- 42:04We're not gonna get into it again.
- 42:05But I was right and and moment was wrong.
- 42:08So I don't know how long he lost.
- 42:10I think he's getting fired after this year.
- 42:12But if they knew what they was good for them, they would do it.
- 42:15But alas, they might not and they have more assets to give
- 42:18for anything anymore. So yeah, good job then, yes.
- 42:24Next next one, Vegas acquires Nick Dowd and in exchange for a
- 42:29second round pick Plus, really not much to say.
- 42:32Here, the most fantasy relevant thing that you can see here is
- 42:34that Nick Dowd played his last game for Washington against my
- 42:37fantasy team and he dropped ten hits against me.
- 42:40So yeah, that's all from Mcdowd like.
- 42:46One another, Olivier, is it you? Let's not get into all of you.
- 42:50Thank God Josh is not here because the Olivia curse is
- 42:54real. We have to make like T-shirts
- 42:55about that or something. Yeah, OK.
- 42:58Columbus acquires Connor Garland in exchange for a second round
- 43:02pick. Plus, this is kind of
- 43:04interesting, actually. Yeah, you said you wanted to
- 43:06dive into this a bit. I mean, it was just on Marchman
- 43:08get hurt. They did imaging on Marchman and
- 43:10they were like, OK, like it's not as bad as we thought.
- 43:12He's day-to-day for now. Connor Garland I think has been
- 43:14a guy like on Vancouver has been the most, I would say like
- 43:20effort giver, if that's even a terminology I could use.
- 43:23Effort giver. But he's a good player.
- 43:26He's a good player, He tries orange gives a lot.
- 43:28I think on Columbus is really going to succeed on their bonus.
- 43:31So I'm monitoring this. This is like watchlist for me.
- 43:33He could end up in a really good role given the injuries that
- 43:36they currently have. But I think he's going to be a
- 43:38top six guy with potential power play 1 exposure, most likely
- 43:43power play 2. But I think he could have
- 43:45fantasy value even in like 12 leagues that are deep.
- 43:48He could be a fantasy relevant guy.
- 43:49So keeping my eye on it. Yeah, I I agree there.
- 43:53I guess one quick follow up here.
- 43:55If Marshman is to miss time, do you think it's going to be
- 43:58Garland Monaghan who gets the power play?
- 43:59One I think it'll be Garland gets getting line one power play
- 44:021. Thing OK, yeah, I think that's
- 44:06possible. And if that might be wrong
- 44:07either way, yes, if that does happen, this is maybe the best
- 44:11fantasy trade of the NHL trade deadline.
- 44:15Like this is maybe the most fantasy relevant one if that
- 44:18happens, like that would be tremendous.
- 44:19So OK, next, Dallas acquires Tyler Myers in exchange for a
- 44:24second round pick and a fourth round pick.
- 44:26Not financially relevant. Yeah he's tall.
- 44:29Maybe you still stream for blocks here and there if they
- 44:32have a good run of games for your for your specific theme,
- 44:34but that's. Yeah, OK, Tampa Bay is
- 44:38officially losing in the sound like up file finals because they
- 44:41acquired Corey Perry for a second round pick.
- 44:46I don't know. Yeah, it was it was a surprise
- 44:49actually. I.
- 44:50Mean we had Sarah Village like alright, officially Corey Perry
- 44:53is off the market. He is going to resign in LA and
- 44:56then like he gets moved like I think a day later or a few
- 44:59hours. Later.
- 45:00Yeah. Crazy.
- 45:00Yeah, this just makes him worse because there's no way he cracks
- 45:04PowerPoint 1. I will say there's a chance
- 45:08Corey Perry takes the Bjorkstrand spot on Power Play
- 45:111. I know Hagel's been the guy
- 45:13there, but but Perry is the guy that knows what to do in front
- 45:15of the net. I would not be surprised if they
- 45:17actually try that. That would be pretty cool.
- 45:20That's the only way I see him having any fantasy value because
- 45:22the rest is just gonna be like a bottom six guy that's playing
- 45:25like probably power play 2 and that's it.
- 45:28Like same kind of thing like Horsey was on LA cause at least
- 45:30LA was getting power play 1 exposure for sure so.
- 45:33Yeah, we'll see. I mean I don't know if he gets
- 45:36that power Play 1 even for a few games like that is.
- 45:38Fun. That would be fun.
- 45:40Yeah, that's that's a but I I wouldn't count on that being
- 45:44like a mainstay. Like it's like if Conor Garland
- 45:46gets power play 1 tremendous. If Corey Perry gets it, it's
- 45:49like, OK, like, you know, maybe he'll stay on for a game or two,
- 45:52but like, I doubt he's gonna be rest of the season.
- 45:54Power play one. We'll have to see how it shakes
- 45:56out. Alright, Ottawa acquires Warren
- 45:59Fogel for a second. He's just like another
- 46:02Zetterlund, not not much to write home about here.
- 46:05Tremendous, super good looking and very cool.
- 46:07OK, anyway, Vegas acquires Cole Smith for 1/3 plus.
- 46:14He has some banger to him, but not nothing moving the needle
- 46:17here. Yeah, Buffalo acquires some
- 46:19Carrick for 1/3. Plus, same story.
- 46:23We have kind of angered. Yeah.
- 46:25You know, the Kings got depth moves.
- 46:27Yeah. LA Kings acquire Scott Lawton
- 46:30for 1/3. Anything there?
- 46:32I mean, Scott. Law Scotland's been like a a
- 46:34faceoff wins league darling because he's like when you're
- 46:37eligible and good in the power on the penalty kill.
- 46:40So he could have some exposure there.
- 46:43I think he'll be a bottom six guy that, you know, gets you
- 46:47penalty kill exposure. Maybe he'll get you some
- 46:48shorties if you have that, but I'm not picking him up just for
- 46:50that. Yeah, yeah, I agree.
- 46:53OK, Next we have Elmer Soderblom to Pittsburgh for 1/3.
- 47:00Nothing fun. It's relevant here.
- 47:02Michael Bunting to Dallas for 1/3.
- 47:05It could. Be I know you like Bunting, but
- 47:06I think his best days are behind him.
- 47:08Yeah, I guess with how loaded and deep Dallas's lineup is
- 47:12already, there's pretty much no way that he's gonna be fantasy
- 47:15relevant next. This one actually could be huge
- 47:18IRL, but for this year I think it's fantasy irrelevant.
- 47:21Or sorry, let me rephrase. Relevant for fantasy, Minnesota
- 47:26acquires Bobby Brink in exchange for David Yurachek.
- 47:30The fall of David Yurachek needs to be studied.
- 47:32What happened there? First of?
- 47:33All I don't even know. I don't even know.
- 47:35He had so much hype and it just has not been able to succeed
- 47:38anywhere. So I mean, I think that I think
- 47:42that Bobby Brink is actually a pretty good player.
- 47:45He actually is a good player. Yeah, and you know what, I don't
- 47:48even know if it's necessarily fantasy irrelevant to 100%
- 47:51because right now they got him slotted in on that second line
- 47:55with Boldy and Eric's neck. That could be pretty good,
- 47:57actually. Is he available in our league?
- 48:01People in our league, I just think the minutes were not going
- 48:03to be there because I don't expect him to get much special
- 48:05teams time. So even with the line 2 that I
- 48:08don't even know if it's going to stick, I think it's going to
- 48:10average around 1314 minutes and I don't think that's enough to
- 48:14be fantasy relevant. In the past he's had some shots,
- 48:17his combo to him that made him kind of stream worthy, but I
- 48:20just don't know if that's going to be sustainable on Minnesota.
- 48:23So I think it's more of like a better NHL move than a fantasy
- 48:26move, but you never know with how things shake out.
- 48:30Yeah. And then David, your check I, I
- 48:32mean, I don't know if. He's gonna no, no.
- 48:34Like a spot in the lineup. There, I don't even wanna talk
- 48:36right because he's so bad. Yes, yeah.
- 48:39OK. Next, David Perron to Detroit.
- 48:45He did play there before. Yeah.
- 48:47Maybe he'll be OK. Timothy Lilligren to Washington,
- 48:51then we have Blankenberg to Colorado, David Kampf to
- 48:55Washington. And these are all for like 4th,
- 48:575th and 6th round. Yeah.
- 48:58By the way, Lucas Reichel to Boston.
- 49:01Maybe there could be something there.
- 49:02One. Day, but put them on your watch
- 49:04list. That's pretty much it, yeah.
- 49:06Exactly. Tanner Pearson to Buffalo, Nick
- 49:09Delorie to Carolina. Like, the most Carolina move you
- 49:13can make feels like, yeah, I mean, this course they traded
- 49:18for Nickelodeon. Nick Delorier will have more
- 49:20success in Carolina than Mikko Rantanen.
- 49:24But there's your headline. Alright, minutes, Minnesota
- 49:31acquires Geoff Petrie. Nah, I think it's the best.
- 49:35Days are behind. Him, yeah, you cannot define
- 49:38trade them for Panarin Dison. Yeah.
- 49:41Ryan Strong. Yes, Yeah.
- 49:43There you go. Sorry, all those focus on the
- 49:46next one already, but yeah, that was still can't believe that
- 49:50that actually happened. OK Ryan Strome to Calgary, Nick
- 49:53Felino to Minnesota. Gotta cool brotherly reunion
- 49:56over there. That's interesting.
- 49:57That one I will say like on Chicago, he's had some points of
- 50:00time where he's been like a good like shots face off wins, hits
- 50:03blocks type of player with some Pimms and depending on the
- 50:06exposure he gets you some power play points on Minnesota's role
- 50:09is gonna be like third line kind of enforcer.
- 50:11See he's gonna play like a shutdown role.
- 50:13That third line is going to be Nick Felino, Michael McCarron
- 50:16and and Marcus Foligno. And that's just going to be a
- 50:20line that you do not want to play against in the real NHL
- 50:23because that's going to be brutal for your bodies.
- 50:27So I I see him as like kind of like a, a Braden Channel light
- 50:31where he can hit all those categories.
- 50:32But it won't be like for as high levels.
- 50:35So just you're trying to deep like 14 team league that has
- 50:38like all the categories like our league of record.
- 50:41He might have some value, yeah. Might as well a lot of things.
- 50:46I really think Minnesota is going to be such a wagon.
- 50:48Going they're they're strong team, it'll be an upset if they
- 50:51got like bounced in the first round.
- 50:53Yeah, OK. Next we have Vinny Hinestroza to
- 50:58Florida. By the way, Felino and and
- 51:01Hinestroza, that's for future considerations is not even for
- 51:03a. Pick man the guys getting
- 51:04treated everywhere future. Consideration.
- 51:06Yeah, exactly. His parents.
- 51:08Must be so proud. Alright, alright, San Jose
- 51:16acquires Jet Woo. Woo Vancouver, an Exchange
- 51:19podcast staple Baby we we mentioned every episode.
- 51:22Yeah, exactly. We're talking about him all the
- 51:24time. And exchange for Jack Johnson to
- 51:28Vancouver, It was really good. All right, you're on a roll.
- 51:33And then last but not least, Chicago acquires Derek Polio 2
- 51:38for and they send Aiden Thompson to New York Rangers.
- 51:42Those are all the trades. Like we said, the top ones were
- 51:46kind of fantasy relevant, but we didn't get the blockbusters.
- 51:48No trail track, no Robert Thomas, no Jordan Kyrou, no
- 51:51Bennington, no Bobrowski. Disappointing, but I guess maybe
- 51:54we'll see some moves in the offseason.
- 51:56Yeah, OK. Now we got some big signings
- 52:00from this past week. We could also go through these a
- 52:03little quicker and of course, you know, dive into, I think the
- 52:06top 2 are kind of relevant to actually key for Sherwood 5 *
- 52:105.75. So five years for 5.7 million.
- 52:13I think you wanted 6,000,000. So yeah, this is like, I guess a
- 52:16compromise. Yeah, he could.
- 52:18He could be very good on the Sharks.
- 52:21He was how it shakes out. Yeah, he was exciting because we
- 52:25saw him get lined, one power play, one for a little bit, then
- 52:28he lost that deployment right away.
- 52:30And then they were like, OK, we're shopping this guy because
- 52:32we can't sign him long term and then he ends up signing
- 52:34long-term. So happy to have him on the
- 52:35Sharks. I think it helps celebrity and
- 52:37the team. I mean, they're gonna make a
- 52:39playoff push for this year as well.
- 52:40So that's that's fun for them. Yeah.
- 52:43And I mean I think sure what you can expect the same old same
- 52:46old. Since you are healthy, so
- 52:49February 4th from February 4th to March 6, OK, these are his
- 52:52hits 482958 what does? And his shots have been
- 52:57tremendous as well. His shots have been the guy that
- 53:00gets you some Pimms too, so if you plan a Pimsleur, he's
- 53:02hitting that too. Yeah, and like any points or
- 53:05just the cherry on top, so good to know that it's shots, hits
- 53:07have stayed very much alive in San Jose.
- 53:12Next we got Jordan. Really.
- 53:13Two years, 5.5 million. That's my captain.
- 53:18This. Yeah, that's a lot of money for
- 53:21a guy of his age, I think. But it's only two years, so it's
- 53:25fine. Yeah.
- 53:26I think this is just the prototypical middle 6 winger at
- 53:29this point. So yeah, he's the one in
- 53:32Seattle. I wouldn't say, OK, tremendous
- 53:35year compared to what he's done like previously, he's been very
- 53:38decent. For what you're expectations
- 53:39are, he's overperforming. Yeah, they're, they're that's a
- 53:43better way to put it. But yeah, he's done, he's done
- 53:45well. So I actually think he kind of
- 53:47deserves this. Like, I don't know if it's
- 53:48necessarily an overpay, but for fantasy, like he will continue
- 53:52playing on Seattle and I would expect the same, more of the
- 53:55same rest of season. JG Pago 3 years, 4.85 million.
- 54:00Category Darling. Yeah.
- 54:02And I don't think that this like signing necessarily means in any
- 54:05way, shape or form that he'll be lined to centre over Shen.
- 54:08I still think. It's gonna be on line too.
- 54:09Yeah. I think it's just signing him
- 54:11long term. They love him as a line 3 and
- 54:12he's an excellent line 3 CD penalty killer.
- 54:15Yeah, then we got Alex Nedeljkovic, 2 years, 3 million.
- 54:20When this happened, I was like, alright, are they moving?
- 54:22Ask around somewhere? But no, I think it's just
- 54:24showing off their backup position.
- 54:25They've what they've seen from the Elvish this season and they
- 54:28just yeah, they're happy with him being the backup for the
- 54:31next few years. Yeah, OK.
- 54:33And then Ryan Paling, 4 years, 3.75 million.
- 54:37This one was kind of interesting.
- 54:38I was surprised. Yeah, I was surprised too, but I
- 54:41guess depth, depth, you know, piece for the Ducks and they're
- 54:46happy with. Yeah, yeah, I think there was
- 54:49one point in time where Ryan Paling had the most points per
- 54:52game of any player to have ever played in the NHL.
- 54:54Cause he played one game with the hubs and got like 4 points
- 54:57and then it has never been the same.
- 54:59Yeah, I thought he was gonna be the next dressed, didn't you?
- 55:03Just do a lot of who said paling, OK?
- 55:10Is Nederland. Alright, moving on here are the
- 55:16injuries currently going on a lot of day to days, but some
- 55:20ambiguous situations. So Ryan O'Reilly is currently
- 55:23day-to-day. Eric Holla likely to replace him
- 55:26on power. Play one in the meantime.
- 55:28Did you see what happened to him?
- 55:29Like they took a face off and he kind of like face planted.
- 55:32I don't know how exactly that happened, but he got like
- 55:34something to his face, but it was like more minor than you
- 55:37anticipated. So I think he's just might miss
- 55:39a game or two and that's pretty much it.
- 55:41I think it was well timed with a deadline.
- 55:43They like we can hold them out and maybe we get a deal.
- 55:45But he's still on Nashville. Yeah, Yeah.
- 55:48So he, he's really good this season.
- 55:51So I mean, if he misses anytime, that's a big blow to your
- 55:53fantasy team. Otherwise, like not much to add
- 55:56there. There's no, it's not necessarily
- 55:58that necessarily that he's gonna be out for a while.
- 56:00But Marchment, who is currently day-to-day that we spoke about
- 56:04already, Sean Monahan or Connor Garland, we both think Conor
- 56:07Garland. I'm curious.
- 56:08I'd be curious to know what Josh thinks about this actually.
- 56:10But yeah, if he misses, like there is a chance he misses
- 56:14time. You were saying, right?
- 56:15Yeah, Marshman was ambiguous. Did some imaging on him and it
- 56:19came back negative, which was good news.
- 56:21We just don't know how severe the injury is either way.
- 56:25So it's like a day-to-day thing, but it might end up being one of
- 56:27those day to days that ends up being week to week, especially
- 56:30for them leading into the playoffs.
- 56:32I think this really helps Connor Garland, like they just traded
- 56:34for him. He can be like the same type of
- 56:36player as marchment. So it would be like a straight
- 56:38swap in my in my eyes. But for all those guys that
- 56:41were, you know, holding marchment, I think I would be
- 56:45easily cutting and just replacing with the next guy up
- 56:48so. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:51And I guess they have two spots on Power play 1 potentially open
- 56:55right now because Charlie Coyle is also being held out of the
- 56:58lineup on. Saturday, I think Jimmy was
- 57:00like, really just he might miss one game, so by the time you're
- 57:03listening to this, he might already be back.
- 57:05Yeah, he's been so good. He's in sacred ridiculous.
- 57:09Like actually like what you want for fantasy, Like like this is
- 57:13like, I hope, I hope to get this out of Austin.
- 57:16Matthews season. Actually not.
- 57:21To pick up Charlie Coyle, so hopefully you guys are because
- 57:24he is bringing a lot of fantasy success right now.
- 57:27Yeah, if you're in a bangers league with face offs like
- 57:29there, there's no way he should be like on for free agency
- 57:33anymore. It's not he has to be or who.
- 57:35Could have expected this culture change to to make the line 3
- 57:38centre like insane no? Yeah, No, no, this is yeah, this
- 57:43is a must, must pick up anyway. But he is currently hurt.
- 57:46So if it's short term, of course.
- 57:49Yeah, I think, I think the main idea here is that if any of them
- 57:53missed time, I think Garland's the one with the opportunity of
- 57:56both missed time. It'll be come on out in Garland
- 57:58as the replacement. But I think Garland is the more
- 58:01relevant 1. Roope Hintz day-to-day.
- 58:03Jamie Benn to take his spot on power play 1.
- 58:06I still think Maverick Bork is an awesome dude, but I don't
- 58:09think he's gonna. I don't think he's going to get
- 58:11it there. Sucks for Rupee because he had
- 58:13not played since the Olympics. He was like quote UN quote
- 58:16illness for like 4 games and then the one game he comes back
- 58:20he gets hurt in it. So we'll have to see.
- 58:22We do not have any information right now on how severe the
- 58:24injury is or what it looks like, so we'll have to see.
- 58:27But root rope. Hence Caracara corrected us.
- 58:32Yes, saying it's it's a rope hints.
- 58:33I have the bad habit of saying rope, so I'm really sorry.
- 58:36So rope, rope hints he's known to be a little squishy.
- 58:40So I will say would I be surprised if Dallas is just
- 58:45like, alright, we do not want to risk our no playoff integrity.
- 58:48Let's just kind of like be careful with this guy and they
- 58:50shut him down. That would be even better for
- 58:52Matthew Shane. It would be even better for
- 58:53Jamie Benn, who played an elevated role, can deliver so
- 58:57and monitor this closely. Yeah, yes.
- 59:00Well said then. Shane Gostisbehere day-to-day.
- 59:03Nikisha's likely to be the replacement over there.
- 59:06This sucks. I have Gauss despair.
- 59:08I'm mad, yeah, it says. I mean, talk about Squishy.
- 59:13He's always potentially, Yeah, there's always a chance Like
- 59:15bosses, bears heard. Which is sad, but I've just been
- 59:18so good this year when healthy. She's been insane.
- 59:20Like that was actually one of your best fantasy trades this
- 59:23year. Like earlier this year was
- 59:25really, really good for you, I think.
- 59:27But Nikishin, I mean, he kind of fell off the face of the Earth.
- 59:30Like he was a big name earlier in the season you talked about a
- 59:33lot that kind of fell off. Now we'll see if he gets becomes
- 59:38relevant again. They could play anybody else in
- 59:40that power play. One of causes personality.
- 59:41We've seen 100 Miller there before, so we'll have to monitor
- 59:45how that goes. But gossip spare like you IR
- 59:48plus and hopefully I'm not dropping until we have a clear
- 59:51picture on his timeline. Yeah, same.
- 59:55Sad. OK, yeah, next.
- 59:58Michael Sergachev also on my team day-to-day, Dursey or
- 1:00:03weaker, I think. I know you said Jersey, I think
- 1:00:06I'm saying Uyghur, but OK, I guess Jerseys already played on
- 1:00:10this power play 1. He kind of knows the ropes and
- 1:00:12we'll see. But I mean, they just acquired
- 1:00:14weaker. They gave up a decent return to
- 1:00:16get him SO. I think we couldn't even hold
- 1:00:18down the Calgary power play 1 the whole season like he's gonna
- 1:00:21hold down a quote UN quote more important unit.
- 1:00:24I just don't see it, but it's not impossible.
- 1:00:26They traded from maybe give him a look.
- 1:00:28I don't think it's long term. Like they didn't give us too
- 1:00:31much information either. It was kind of like a surprise
- 1:00:33that it was missing time. It was like, oh, he'll be a game
- 1:00:35time decision that he's not going to play.
- 1:00:36So my assumption is that it's gonna be day-to-day.
- 1:00:39So maybe he only misses 1-2 or three games and then he's back.
- 1:00:43Yeah, OK. Detroit, Dylan Larkin is
- 1:00:46day-to-day to take his spot on power play one probably JVR on
- 1:00:53line 1, though I actually think that maybe Casper can get a
- 1:00:56look. So that can be an interesting
- 1:00:57game or two to be a Casper owner if Florida does miss any time.
- 1:01:01They might put Casper, they could put calm for like one of
- 1:01:04those guys, one of the furs. No, it's not Casper.
- 1:01:10What? What?
- 1:01:11What are the ears? Yeah, there we go.
- 1:01:13That's pretty much it. But I don't think the lark is
- 1:01:16going to miss anytime. Yeah, that's my yeah.
- 1:01:19OK, yes. Yeah, And if Kenny Malkin
- 1:01:23suspended for five games, will Ben Kindle actually have an
- 1:01:27opportunity here? I don't think so.
- 1:01:30And I think Kendall is actually a really good player.
- 1:01:34But if you know so I think that the idea here is that maybe
- 1:01:39Kindle will get the spot on Power Play 1.
- 1:01:41I think it's more likely to be China Akov personally.
- 1:01:44Whoever it is will be valuable and we will talk about it.
- 1:01:48So yeah, still join the Discord if you haven't already, because
- 1:01:52that's why we're gonna break the news first, like who we're
- 1:01:53seeing on the practice reports, getting the power play one spot
- 1:01:56and we'll tell you to actively pick them up ASAP.
- 1:01:59But the yeah JS chemicals maybe a little biased.
- 1:02:03No, I, I I actually like, I like Kendall as a player too.
- 1:02:06I just think that that I think that is just more likely to be
- 1:02:10junior cop man. Pittsburgh isn't a tough.
- 1:02:12Situation. They lost Crosby, now they're
- 1:02:14losing Mulkin. It's yeah, they're really a
- 1:02:17little bit. The Metropolitan is super close.
- 1:02:21So this is this is a tough one, tough time to be a Stuart
- 1:02:25Skinner owner, let me tell you. Alright, let's get into the
- 1:02:30would you rathers. So the best segment in all of
- 1:02:34fantasy hockey. Do you would you rather than I'm
- 1:02:36so glad you made it until this part of the episode.
- 1:02:39If it's your first time here, welcome.
- 1:02:42I prepare 5 would you rathers one of each position left wing,
- 1:02:45right wing, centre defenseman, goalie and I usually try to
- 1:02:48split the difference between MY2 Co hosts Jake and Josh who is
- 1:02:50currently not present. But Josh gave me his answers
- 1:02:53over text, so I know where he is going and I'll ask you, Jakey,
- 1:02:59what you think. And ideally I split the
- 1:03:01difference is really good. So usually find trade value and
- 1:03:03also just like rest of season value for these guys, the would
- 1:03:06you rather usually are, let's say quote go bigger names.
- 1:03:09But now that the trade deadline is passed in almost every
- 1:03:11league, we're hovering over more like waiver wire guys or guys
- 1:03:14that are like 60% or less type of player or just guys that are
- 1:03:18more relevant. So let's get started with the
- 1:03:22first Would you rather this to me?
- 1:03:25We're talking centres. Who do you think is more
- 1:03:29valuable? Who would you rather have rest
- 1:03:32of season? Nazim Kadri, the new Colorado
- 1:03:36Avalanche potentially second line winger, or Charlie Coyle,
- 1:03:41the GOAT line 3C. Ah yeah, I OK, I'm thinking like
- 1:03:51I think without face offs. Yeah, but this is always full
- 1:03:55bars category league, so hit blocks, shots, Pimms just no
- 1:04:00face off wins because mostly do not play with face off wins
- 1:04:03hours does because we're crazy. Yeah.
- 1:04:06Well, no, the the reason I'm saying without face offs is, is
- 1:04:09just because like Kadri and and coil are basically neck and neck
- 1:04:13with that. And now country may not be
- 1:04:15taking face offs. If he's taking face offs then
- 1:04:19he's lined 3. And in that case I'd way rather
- 1:04:23coil. So I'm kind of having to think,
- 1:04:26which is nuts because coils also line 3, but it is so good.
- 1:04:32So I think that the way I'm looking at this is that you
- 1:04:35already have such tremendous, you know, production out of Coil
- 1:04:40that I, it has to slow down because it's just been so
- 1:04:44ridiculous. And I think Audrey's gonna be
- 1:04:46better moving forward cuz how can he not be?
- 1:04:48It's been just horrible in Calgary this season.
- 1:04:52So overall, I guess cadres got a higher ceiling moving forward,
- 1:04:58but I do think that Coil is the choice here because I think that
- 1:05:02the ceiling is not much higher considering if this is coil
- 1:05:05ceiling, then I don't know if he could be as good as this.
- 1:05:08And even with that, like how much how much worse is he
- 1:05:12actually gonna get? Like he's had this sustained
- 1:05:14production for for a while now. And yeah, I think I think my
- 1:05:18choice here is coil, which is crazy because coming into the
- 1:05:21season it wouldn't even have been.
- 1:05:23Conversation not gonna. Draft, I think about having
- 1:05:25Yeah. So coil not going coil.
- 1:05:27How about you? I'm also going Coil, and I mean,
- 1:05:30this is an exciting one because, you know, colleges got moved to
- 1:05:33Colorado. Everybody's hyped about it.
- 1:05:34You know, they were hoping for this.
- 1:05:36But Charlie Coyle, man, this guy is he, we need to put some
- 1:05:39respect on his name because I feel like nobody's giving him
- 1:05:41credit. It's just like, oh, do I stream
- 1:05:42Coil for now or whatever? Like this guy is a pickup and a
- 1:05:45mainstay now. Like he's, yeah, he's producing
- 1:05:48a basically a point per game pace.
- 1:05:50He's shooting above three shots a game is hitting, he's winning
- 1:05:54faceoffs, he's blocking, he's on the power play 1 like this guy
- 1:05:57is. He's a Jack of all trades at
- 1:05:59this point. And I don't think I see this
- 1:06:01changing rest of the season. Like the coach loves him.
- 1:06:03He's putting him in this opportunity.
- 1:06:04He's flourishing. So why would why would things
- 1:06:06change? I think Koji has a lot of what
- 1:06:08ifs at the moment. Maybe if we're talking in a week
- 1:06:10or two and he's, you know, line one power play 1 is a different
- 1:06:13question. But for the moment, I think
- 1:06:14there's no way in hell. Oh, that's believe.
- 1:06:17There's no way in bleep. There you go, sleep.
- 1:06:20I don't know if I don't know if it's actually believe or not,
- 1:06:22but I did not mean to say it. I said it.
- 1:06:25I I don't think it's a bleep. You gotta let us know it's a
- 1:06:28bleep or not. That's the one you catch
- 1:06:30yourself on? That's hilarious.
- 1:06:33But for me it's Coil and I think it's, it's pretty clear, but I
- 1:06:37thought it was definitely worth the question because everybody's
- 1:06:39talking about cage right now. I spoke to Josh, Josh told me
- 1:06:41also it's coil for him. Like I just alright, did not put
- 1:06:45the difference here, but still fun.
- 1:06:47No, no, I, I, yeah. I think we're thinking about
- 1:06:49this the right way, honestly. Yeah, he's yeah.
- 1:06:52OK, Alright, into the next one. Talking about right wingers,
- 1:06:56would you rather the most famous player on our waiver shows
- 1:07:00weekly, Matt Zuccarello, the plural of Matt Mats, or Beckett
- 1:07:06Seneca of the Anaheim Ducks, potentially the highest scoring
- 1:07:12rookie forward this season? This one's really, really good
- 1:07:19because first of all, let me say one thing.
- 1:07:25That's like leaning. Yeah, OK, I'm going to give my
- 1:07:28answer and then it'll let me know what you think.
- 1:07:31And I think the the difference will be split.
- 1:07:35I'm going Seneca. Hmm, yeah, I'm going Seneca.
- 1:07:40And the reason I'm going Seneca is because one, his shots hits
- 1:07:45have actually been really good especially.
- 1:07:47As of late. And this is just yeah, Juggalo
- 1:07:50does not really have .8 hits is actually not bad over the last
- 1:07:5330 days, but it's really not something that you can expect
- 1:07:56from him consistently. So that's it's so close to start
- 1:08:00that I think that that's what gives the edge to Seneca and
- 1:08:03additionally effective shots to be better and the points to be
- 1:08:08similar. Zuka just between the whole
- 1:08:11season, like, you know, you're getting, it's like you don't
- 1:08:12really get the fluctuations. You get the consistency of, you
- 1:08:16know, usually just under a point per game, the shots, the power
- 1:08:19play, like it's always there. Do you know the deployment is
- 1:08:22safe? Seneca has just been blowing up
- 1:08:24recently and we're like, alright, where, where does it
- 1:08:26stop? Where does it end?
- 1:08:27Where does it, you know, settle out the boat, the boat, the boat
- 1:08:31was low, the boat went up it's begin rocket ship and now rocket
- 1:08:34ship is tired, so be it might become boat, but where was boats
- 1:08:37out? That's there you go.
- 1:08:41Well said. But I think I think with this,
- 1:08:45you know, Anaheim is actually it's obviously been a roller
- 1:08:48coaster for them. Part of the reason that that
- 1:08:51Seneca kind of, you know, didn't perform that well is because
- 1:08:55one, he's a rookie. You can expect inconsistent
- 1:08:58inconsistency in 2. Leo Carlson was heard for
- 1:09:00awhile. They had some injuries that they
- 1:09:02were dealing with and now they're not they're healthy.
- 1:09:06So I think that with this rookie player, rookies get better as
- 1:09:11the season goes on. I expect Seneca to get better,
- 1:09:14not to get better, but to like maintain, you know, .8 to a
- 1:09:18point per game, which may be a little bit worse.
- 1:09:20But with the shots hits, I think that it makes up for the, let's
- 1:09:24say, point discrepancy that Zuccarello may have in his
- 1:09:26favor. I don't know if this is
- 1:09:28shocking, but I'm also going Seneca and.
- 1:09:31Actually, I'm surprised. Really, yeah, I think it would
- 1:09:35be in my nature to go zuccarello and just kind of take the bird
- 1:09:37in the hand and know that the consistency over the long term
- 1:09:39is good. But from what I've seen from
- 1:09:41this kid in the eye test like he is, he is nuts.
- 1:09:44I think if it was any other year, he probably wins the
- 1:09:48Calder. I don't think anybody was
- 1:09:50talking about it when coming into the year when, you know,
- 1:09:52Schafer, when you was gonna be any L, he was gonna be a top
- 1:09:55candidate. We knew Demi Debbie felt like it
- 1:09:56was his to lose going into the season where there's no way just
- 1:09:59doesn't win the caller, right? Seneca could have won it.
- 1:10:02He could win it still. I think I think she's gonna win.
- 1:10:06But like, you know, if Schafer wasn't Schaefer, Seneca would
- 1:10:09win it. But it's nuts.
- 1:10:11And this Anaheim team is starting to find its groove.
- 1:10:14They're getting healthier. I think it just means that, you
- 1:10:16know, the lineup becomes stronger.
- 1:10:18They're going to be a playoff team and a lot of it is because
- 1:10:21Seneca's scoring his shots, his combo really I think gives him
- 1:10:24the edge of Zuccarello. And I think the playoff schedule
- 1:10:27is also better right now for Anaheim in the playoffs.
- 1:10:31That's why those those two factors are what I'm projecting
- 1:10:34to be the difference maker here and why I want Seneca over Zuke
- 1:10:37because I think Sue is going to probably average the same amount
- 1:10:40of points in Seneca rest of season or maybe slightly above.
- 1:10:43I can see this being like a point 9.95 and Seneca being like
- 1:10:46a .85 point 9 type of player, which is still amazing for where
- 1:10:49you got him for. But the extra like hits on a 1.5
- 1:10:53hits or two hits plus the playoff schedule give me Seneca
- 1:10:56plus the potential of him just being you don't know where the
- 1:10:59ceiling is because he's so young and talented.
- 1:11:01Yeah. And that's it.
- 1:11:02Like that's, I mean, it's one game literally.
- 1:11:05But you know, the four games in week 25 versus the 3-4 because,
- 1:11:10because yeah, I don't have has a 334 and we have 21 to 23 and
- 1:11:15yeah. And who do you think Josh would
- 1:11:17pick? Zuccarello.
- 1:11:20He texted me he was going Seneca.
- 1:11:24Wow, you're really fucking right.
- 1:11:26I wish she was. Here, though, actually, so
- 1:11:27surprised. Yeah.
- 1:11:29Wow. OK.
- 1:11:30I can't believe that, actually. I know because that was a real
- 1:11:34struggle. It was like the coil wanted to
- 1:11:37me. I'm like, super confident.
- 1:11:39This one's a lot harder. So yeah.
- 1:11:41All right, let's go on to the next.
- 1:11:43One Alright, talking left wingers, would you rather Pierre
- 1:11:46Luc Dubois PLD to be mixed with BLT or Dylan Holloway of the
- 1:11:55Saint Louis Blues? Lettuce, tomatoes, or or asking
- 1:12:03the hard hitting questions over here.
- 1:12:05How? OK, it's so pretty hungry
- 1:12:08actually. Alright, so First things first,
- 1:12:13we have the same exact playoff schedule discrepancy as we had
- 1:12:17for the previous one, meaning Washington has a 334.
- 1:12:22Minnesota, this is week 21 to 23 has a 333.
- 1:12:26So better playoff schedule, buy one game but.
- 1:12:30You said Minnesota, did you mean St.
- 1:12:32Louis, Minnesota. Sorry, yes, Saint Louis also has
- 1:12:36a yes. Oh, St.
- 1:12:37Louis is a 234. Yes, my bad.
- 1:12:39Yeah, and Washington is a 334. So same story, one game, except
- 1:12:45here it's one game in week 2321, week 21.
- 1:12:48OK. Now that I kind of sort of
- 1:12:51landed that. Plane.
- 1:12:56That's true. I can't.
- 1:12:57I gotta stick with. I gotta stick with boats.
- 1:12:59No planes. OK, So what I think over here is
- 1:13:04that it is that PLD's gonna have like a really solid finish to
- 1:13:09the season, but I think that shots hits combo for Holloways a
- 1:13:12lot safer. So that's kind of my initial,
- 1:13:14initial thoughts. Overall, I think PLD will score
- 1:13:18more points and it is nice to have that slightly better
- 1:13:22playoff schedule. And I say that even though
- 1:13:24Holloway has been an absolute terror.
- 1:13:25You just think that it's come in bunches.
- 1:13:28Yeah, it has. I mean, on the season he like
- 1:13:31obviously he had that huge injury, but before the hand,
- 1:13:33like it was really inconsistent. Honestly, I think I'm going to
- 1:13:39go haul away here. I think that now that he's got
- 1:13:42like a bit more ice time, let's say, to to play with the
- 1:13:45Thomas's back. So we'll be playing with with
- 1:13:47better players. I think that I really do like
- 1:13:51PLD rest of season. But overall, Holloway can have a
- 1:13:56really, really strong finish. And yeah, I mean, I guess, I
- 1:14:02guess the big the big trade for them was folk.
- 1:14:06So they're they're yeah, true, true.
- 1:14:10I don't know if that necessarily affects his ice time Holloway,
- 1:14:13but there's a good chance that he's gonna play with Thomas rest
- 1:14:18of season. And I think that that could be
- 1:14:19really good for him. So yeah, I'm going to go.
- 1:14:21And they're on a three-game win streak.
- 1:14:22So you're saying maybe they will end up second in the Central?
- 1:14:26Probably not. Yeah, I'm gonna go all the way
- 1:14:28here. That's also a really close one
- 1:14:30for me. Though, yeah, I think PLD has
- 1:14:32kind of like really been exciting for people since he
- 1:14:34came back from injury. You know, he started off with
- 1:14:36that first came back and he was hot, and then it kind of like we
- 1:14:39were like, OK, you power play one, but ended up not being that
- 1:14:42I'm going to haul away. And I think what you're going to
- 1:14:45get from Holloway right now until the end of the season is
- 1:14:47what you drafted Dylan Holloway to be.
- 1:14:49This is why he was Josh's signature pick going into the
- 1:14:52season. I think everything you held them
- 1:14:54for, you picked them up for. It's going to pay dividends
- 1:14:56right now because his deployment is finally settled.
- 1:14:59I think he's going to play with Robert Thomas the rest of the
- 1:15:02season and I think that could be trick for his value.
- 1:15:04We know he's a guy that shoots a lot and that hits.
- 1:15:07He'll hit you. He'll hit about like two hits a
- 1:15:09game. But the shots like from, since
- 1:15:12coming back from injury, he's played five games.
- 1:15:16He's had five hits, A5 shots and two of them six shots and one of
- 1:15:20them like that's just incredible value.
- 1:15:23The points have come in bunches, but I can see a stabilizing.
- 1:15:27It's really interesting to see how the power play shakes up.
- 1:15:29But I just think that he's going to be a banger category stud
- 1:15:31with a high shot volume, some hits, playing with a top end
- 1:15:35centre who's finally healthy. You know, it's a little too late
- 1:15:38for the Saint Louis, I think in the regular season, but it
- 1:15:39doesn't mean not gonna try to finish the season strong.
- 1:15:41They already know this hold off. Their best players are not
- 1:15:43they're playing with house money at this point.
- 1:15:46Just going to go out there, play, have fun and I think he
- 1:15:48can be really valuable. PLD could be also valuable, but
- 1:15:51just think hallways could be better.
- 1:15:54Yeah, I, yeah, no, I it's, it's super tight.
- 1:15:58I think, I guess I think PLD gets more points.
- 1:16:02Maybe it's close enough but with the shots combo I think Holloway
- 1:16:06is the choice here and Josh is going Holloway for.
- 1:16:08Sure. Yeah, Josh is going Holloway.
- 1:16:10Yeah, yeah. I knew it.
- 1:16:13All right, let's see this next one.
- 1:16:15Talking about defensemen here, just want to be a little bit
- 1:16:18surprising, but would you rather Philip Veronik with the
- 1:16:21Vancouver Canucks, the last man standing, or John Carlson, newly
- 1:16:25acquired Anaheim Duck? Hmm.
- 1:16:30I mean, just like caliber of players slash past fantasy
- 1:16:33relevance. Obviously that the initial
- 1:16:36instinct is for sure for sure Carlson.
- 1:16:38But if you look a bit more into it, Ronix actually been really
- 1:16:41decent as of. Late has been decent and you
- 1:16:44know he's going to be the power of the one quarterback they got,
- 1:16:46nobody else. Yeah, I guess the the boolean
- 1:16:49experiment is not is not coming to fruition this year so far.
- 1:16:53So yeah, I mean, do you think there is a chance that they they
- 1:16:58play? Buyer No, I think it's just from
- 1:17:00because yeah, I think it's just chronic.
- 1:17:02I see. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:05I mean, I mean, the obvious, like the crux of this question
- 1:17:08is that John Carlson's ambiguous for Power Play 1, where Sonic is
- 1:17:12is a mainstay. Nevertheless, I think that
- 1:17:15Anaheim's gonna score a lot more, and even without the Power
- 1:17:18Play 1, he could be valuable John Carlson.
- 1:17:21Plus I expect you know better shots, hits, etc from him.
- 1:17:25Chronic hits a. Lot more than sorry, not his
- 1:17:28Carlson I meant I meant shots because even the blogs are kind
- 1:17:31of in the same. Chronic shoots more than John
- 1:17:33Carlson too, I believe. Lana season.
- 1:17:36No, but it's been like kind of like an up and down situation
- 1:17:39for Carlson. So look, he's got that looming
- 1:17:42injury too. But even with that, like I just
- 1:17:45think that Vancouver is gonna not be scoring many goals rest
- 1:17:47of season. I'm gonna go Carlson here
- 1:17:49because I think that the ceiling is higher and that's why I would
- 1:17:51like I wanna go for the ceiling instead of the floor if I had
- 1:17:55the opportunity to pick up both of them, which obviously is not
- 1:17:58the case. 91% owned for Carlson. But yeah, just who would I
- 1:18:01rather have on my team? Like I think I'm happier with
- 1:18:03Carlson in this case, floral or ceiling higher, but I think like
- 1:18:07the median outcome or or such would be in Carlson's.
- 1:18:11Favor, I'm going Carlson to Josh is also going Carlson.
- 1:18:14I think the wow, the crook of the question here was more the
- 1:18:19ambiguity of John Carlson where he's going to line up shoots
- 1:18:23more, but it's it's very up and down.
- 1:18:25I think running you're getting like a a very stagnant level of
- 1:18:29production. It's just not an exciting
- 1:18:31because you know he's not surrounded by a lot of talent.
- 1:18:34I think John Carlton has a lot of higher upside even though the
- 1:18:36floor might be lower. I think it was more like, would
- 1:18:39you rather Veronica on power play one or John Carlson on
- 1:18:41power play 2? I think that's a tight question,
- 1:18:45but to be honest, give me the the swing of John Carlson and
- 1:18:49what that represents for your fantasy chances.
- 1:18:52Like you win fantasy by taking risks like this.
- 1:18:54This might not even seem like a risk because Chronic just does
- 1:18:56not have much name value. But at the end that you're
- 1:18:59looking at deployment that has a lot of pull.
- 1:19:00But I think John Carlson is just the guy you got to go with.
- 1:19:03I feel the exact same. Yeah, OK.
- 1:19:06No different split. Yet no, it's crazy.
- 1:19:08I mean, it's hard with these waiver guys or lower.
- 1:19:11Levels close, though, like, yeah, like, especially the
- 1:19:13Seneca one, like that's like, really.
- 1:19:15That really ate me up inside. Yeah, honestly, like they've all
- 1:19:19been. Good fun.
- 1:19:20Whoa, OK, alright, next one next door.
- 1:19:24Talking about goalies, would you rather the GOAT, the man that
- 1:19:29should have been traded, Jordan Bennington, or the demise of the
- 1:19:34Edmonton Oilers, Tristan Jarry? Rest of season?
- 1:19:37That's brutal. Yeah, I'm going Bennington here.
- 1:19:42Well, no one this one at all. Yeah, No, this one to me is not
- 1:19:46even that close. I mean, like, I just, I actually
- 1:19:49think Bennington is a better goalie.
- 1:19:52And Jerry, Jerry sucks. Like Jerry's not good.
- 1:19:56He's. Salads out here, I don't know
- 1:19:59what to say. Like I I don't like I I actually
- 1:20:03think that like you could have aimed lower on the other side,
- 1:20:06real honest, like you were being kind of generous and all that.
- 1:20:09Bennington is tremendous and I actually think he will lose
- 1:20:11starts to Hoover, but at least he's like, OK, like, you know,
- 1:20:16he's good. He's a good goalie.
- 1:20:17It's just, yeah, I think there's.
- 1:20:19More to issue Jerry, I think he just sucks.
- 1:20:23No, and as much as I totally agree there.
- 1:20:25Like it almost doesn't even matter is like he'll find a way
- 1:20:29to lose Jerry since. Since January, Jerry has only
- 1:20:32posted two games. Over 901 of them was a 902 and
- 1:20:36the other one was a shout out against Vancouver.
- 1:20:38Every other game is like an 850 or below.
- 1:20:41Yeah, it's just exactly. He's been horrendous guys.
- 1:20:44His roster percentage is at 34%, but he's still, you know,
- 1:20:49probably in like a a split as the starter on an Edmonton team
- 1:20:52that should be winning games. Bennington is a split starter on
- 1:20:56the Blues who should not be winning as many games.
- 1:20:59But I think the quality difference here is definitely
- 1:21:01something that needs to be, you know, considered.
- 1:21:04So for you, it's like a no brainer.
- 1:21:06It's a Bennington no brainer. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:09OK. Can I ask a question and then
- 1:21:11we'll see what Josh said on this.
- 1:21:13Would your other Walstead or Jerry?
- 1:21:16Jerry doesn't think the gate amount of games are starting.
- 1:21:19There OK, fine, but it is but that's kind of like Walstead,
- 1:21:24but that's like more in the realm of I'm like oooh, you know
- 1:21:27what I mean like so so I actually think that look, I
- 1:21:30don't expect Saint Louis to have a strong.
- 1:21:32Finish and to be fair, we just, we just poo pooed on on Jerry's
- 1:21:35stats. But like Billington stats have
- 1:21:37not been amazing either. Like he's posted along below 900
- 1:21:39games. Like, he's not an incredible
- 1:21:42fantasy goalie this year by any means.
- 1:21:44No, no, no, he he's been bad. But like I I just jar has been
- 1:21:48worse. Like I I can't.
- 1:21:50I don't think Jerry. But the question is, do you want
- 1:21:52moving forward? Yeah.
- 1:21:54Yeah, Bennington like it's yeah, I think you're going Bennington
- 1:21:59too, if I had to. Guess I mean, I'm not just doing
- 1:22:01that. He's on my team.
- 1:22:02He probably won't be on my team for long.
- 1:22:04I, I streamed them hoping that he got traded and that didn't
- 1:22:06happen. But I, I just don't want any.
- 1:22:09It's just crazy. We're talking about the starter
- 1:22:11for the Edmonton Oilers who should be winning games, but
- 1:22:15they're not really winning as many games as you would expect
- 1:22:17right now and the quality is just not there.
- 1:22:20And I feel like he could lose the job at any moment.
- 1:22:22They're begging for somebody to just win a game.
- 1:22:24Hinton, I think he has some quality in him.
- 1:22:26Do I expect you to come out a lot on this same Blues, Saint
- 1:22:29Louis Blues team that is, you know, that's sold at deadline?
- 1:22:33No. But I think he has some good
- 1:22:34games in him. I'm going Bennington as well.
- 1:22:38Josh is going Tristan Jarry, what I know that this is the one
- 1:22:43that's split the yes. This is the one with the
- 1:22:45difference. I think Josh keep my reasoning
- 1:22:48for what Josh thinks and he can maybe explain it on the next
- 1:22:51episode, but I think he would be like it's just a starter on
- 1:22:54Edmunds team is gonna win more games.
- 1:22:56They both suck so might as well give me one on the better team.
- 1:22:58I think that's me. I'm worried.
- 1:23:00About him, I'm like, this is actually concerning.
- 1:23:02No, no, come on, I get it. He is very.
- 1:23:05Sick. So maybe that's coming into
- 1:23:06play. Yeah, obviously the logic is
- 1:23:09there. He'll be fine, by the way, for
- 1:23:11anyone concerned. Yeah, well, he's down at the
- 1:23:13devil. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:23:15But that's funny. No, I'm surprised.
- 1:23:18I really think that that Bennington's like the obvious
- 1:23:22choice here. Like, not that this is like a
- 1:23:25normal, normal way that we do this, but I think that of the
- 1:23:28ones that we do, Seneca was the hardest one for me to choose and
- 1:23:32Jared and Bennington was the easiest one.
- 1:23:35Yeah, I saw your hesitation levels and there were nowhere to
- 1:23:38be found on the Bennington one, which I'm not shocked by, but
- 1:23:42nonetheless, I'm happy with the difference, at least one of
- 1:23:44them. The thing is, it's a worthwhile
- 1:23:47question. I just don't.
- 1:23:48First of all, I don't know if I'd rather been excited over
- 1:23:50Hofer, and second of all, I don't know if I'd rather Jerry
- 1:23:54over Ingram. So.
- 1:23:57There's also like a whole other thing, you know what I mean?
- 1:24:00Like, that's like another element to this equation.
- 1:24:02But no, I think, I mean, yeah, it's a, it's a thinker.
- 1:24:09But no, Bennington is the choice here for me.

- 1:26:08Trying to imitate Josh, like I'm trying to like channel the way
- 1:26:11Josh sings it. So I'm like banking on like the
- 1:26:14ability to imitate as opposed to like channeling any inner
- 1:26:18musicality to to sing. This is why they call them the
- 1:26:21best voice of this generation. Nobody, Bird.
- 1:26:24Yeah, whatever that is.
