- 0:06Let me your ear. I got something you need to hear.
- 0:09Turn the volume up so it's loud and clear. A podcast where we talk about politics and culture.
- 0:15A stupid marimis like a 504 soldier. We're not pretenders. Ain't no agendas.
- 0:19Our only plan is to keep it 100 and do it for the fam. Yeah.
- 0:26What up, what up, what up? What's going on? I'm Six Mill, keeping it true. It's your boy, KG.
- 0:33Welcome to episode 24 of For The Fam Podcast.
- 0:39Kobe episode. Kobe episode. What's been good, brother? How you feeling?
- 0:45Good, man. Just over this rain,
- 0:48as we was talking about before we came on air, just tired of it, man.
- 0:53Yeah, I hear you. I hear you. You deal with it way more than I do.
- 0:59I'm used to it. As crazy as that may sound, it doesn't bother me like it used to.
- 1:04So, as I said, as long as I'm dressed for it, I feel like I'm prepared.
- 1:09I just go with the flow, man. I mean, control what you can control.
- 1:13I can't control the weather. So, I don't even spend my time worrying about it no more. Not like that.
- 1:19Well, it depends, man. You know some people out there, man, that think that,
- 1:22you know, the government controlling the weather.
- 1:25You know them chemtrails, boy.
- 1:30You know what you know what it's funny you say that
- 1:33bro maybe for an episode we can have some fun and just talk about conspiracy
- 1:38theories we have to okay all right all right cool well anyway what are we going
- 1:43to get into and get into today because we're not going to get into conspiracy
- 1:47theories so we have a i guess a what if episode,
- 1:53Part of a what-if episode. A good hypothetical. Yeah, yeah. So rewriting history. Yep.
- 1:59And we're going to talk also about the economical impact, the economic impact
- 2:04of what we're seeing happen in the Middle East right now and the global impact. There you go.
- 2:10There you go. There you go. All right. All right. Cool.
- 2:13So the hypothetical that we are going to discuss here to begin the episode is
- 2:21sort of a question. Mm-hmm.
- 2:23What would the world be like if the Native Americans, the indigenous people,
- 2:32rejected the first settlers?
- 2:34I know that's probably something people have never contemplated. Lord have mercy.
- 2:44But it's a really interesting thought experiment.
- 2:49It is. It really is. I mean, because the world would be an absolutely different
- 2:55place if just one small action had taken place and they just went, hey,
- 3:04get back on the boat or die. Your choice.
- 3:08Or if they would have sunk the boats 200 yards offshore.
- 3:16Who are they? I don't know. Well, they got to go.
- 3:20Yeah, that's somebody invading us instead of the curiosity that the indigenous
- 3:26people probably, I mean, we don't know if they did or not, but just the overall
- 3:30curiosity that they probably had when people showed up.
- 3:33Yeah. You know, they're thinking, we're cool. Yeah, you can come on over.
- 3:39Yeah. And of course, look what happened.
- 3:41Yeah. So let's start with the obvious impact.
- 3:47The genocide, the slaughter, the indigenous community would be much larger than it is right now.
- 3:55I mean, that's just the most obvious.
- 3:58So with the access that Europeans had to the indigenous people in this country,
- 4:06eventually with the diseases they brought, Jesus,
- 4:10the diseases that were brought with them right now an estimated 90%.
- 4:17I want everybody to understand that. That is not a typo. 90% of the population in the Americas.
- 4:26Interesting. That is wild. It really is. And yeah, if the disease didn't get
- 4:33them, then it was just the slaughter that got them.
- 4:37And and I need to do more follow up research on this, but and this is going
- 4:44to lead into our next most obvious or glaring difference.
- 4:50I think I read somewhere that they originally tried to enslave the NATOs,
- 4:57but they couldn't do the work properly,
- 5:00which is why they started to come to Africa to get us, which leads us to the
- 5:06next glaring difference is we may not even be here, bro.
- 5:11I mean, we may not be here recording this podcast right now.
- 5:15We may be in Africa right now, bro. I'm just saying.
- 5:19Which also, I mean, obviously, there's a lot of black folk in Africa.
- 5:24Africa may look a little bit different as well. For sure.
- 5:28But think of this. When they first landed here, the Aztec Empire was already
- 5:33larger than London or Paris at the time in the 1500s. Mmh.
- 5:41So you showed up on shore. Now, granted, obviously, I understand.
- 5:46I'm referencing the Americas in general. So Latin America.
- 5:50Yeah, for sure. Already set up what is now Mexico City in the 1500s.
- 5:56And they were bigger than two of the largest cities in the world.
- 5:59Well, I mean, we know it wasn't just North America that got colonized. Right.
- 6:05It was also South America, Central America. And I don't think a lot of people
- 6:10realize that the majority of slavery actually happened on the South American continent.
- 6:18Brazil. Yeah. More. Yeah. More slavery happened there than it actually did in North America.
- 6:24I think most people don't recognize that, but still, it was European colonizers.
- 6:31So, you know, just just a different location, but same problem.
- 6:37Yep. Same atrocity.
- 6:40Yeah. So, so, so yeah, South America may not have as many.
- 6:45Well, well, well, wait, before I say that, because, you know,
- 6:48they talk about that current that flows from Africa to South America.
- 6:54So it's very possible that Africans would have eventually tracked across and
- 7:00made it into, yeah, South America.
- 7:03But it's can you imagine the aztec and inca empires and what they would have become,
- 7:10with just a few more years let's just say because what those
- 7:14expeditions when they were coming from europe it's not like they were coming
- 7:17like every six months i mean they were some of those expeditions were taking
- 7:21up to nine years for new boats to show up can you imagine had they turned away
- 7:26the first boat nobody in europe knows that that boat made it or didn't make
- 7:31it correct and then another nine or 10 years go by,
- 7:34you imagine what the populations would have been in the Americas.
- 7:38And then, of course, you had people in the winter.
- 7:41Migrating up near Alaska and coming down from Asia, it would have just continued to grow.
- 7:48The entire demographic would be different. The entire population would just be different.
- 7:55And as we were discussing before we started to record.
- 7:59Europe would not be the dominant power that they are today, not financially,
- 8:07not militarily, because America basically was the cash cow.
- 8:12So I made sure I highlighted this. The rise of Europe as a dominant global power
- 8:17was heavily funded by the wealth extracted from the Americas,
- 8:21specifically silver, gold, and cash crops like sugar and tobacco. For sure.
- 8:27Absolutely. And there is no disputing that they got rich off of America to basically
- 8:33say they got rich off slave labor. Yeah.
- 8:37And the thing is, too, is that may have drastically altered when the Industrial
- 8:42Revolution started. Mm-hmm.
- 8:43And it may have started somewhere else. Mm-hmm. Like China or India. Mm-hmm.
- 8:49Yeah. And I mean, like, we were
- 8:52talking about... Which they were already powerhouses at the time as well.
- 8:56But we were just saying, like, perhaps...
- 9:00Slavery wouldn't have taken place in America. So is it logical to think that
- 9:08colonization wouldn't have happened in Africa either?
- 9:11I mean, because once we removed all or once they removed all of those people,
- 9:17it weakened a lot of those countries. Mm hmm.
- 9:20So with a different population, we are here to fight.
- 9:24Y'all can't come here either. So perhaps the colonization wouldn't have happened either.
- 9:28I mean, just the world would be so different.
- 9:33Like we were saying, had that one action just taking place, just just know,
- 9:38get your asses back on that boat and go home.
- 9:42Well, and we know trade would have eventually happened. Of course.
- 9:45But it would have been done on different terms, different terms. Correct.
- 9:50Because these empires would have continued to grow in the Americas.
- 9:55So yes, eventually people from Europe or people from the Americas would have
- 9:58headed east and started trading. It would have been a little bit different.
- 10:04Sure. Japan may be a superpower.
- 10:07Yeah. India may be a superpower. Yeah, because they were. Yeah.
- 10:11They were big. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:13Yeah, without a doubt. Some African countries may be a superpower,
- 10:17you know, and perhaps Britain,
- 10:22France, Spain, wouldn't be the powers that they once were. Right.
- 10:28Yeah, it's an interesting thing to contemplate.
- 10:33Like, think about this. Potatoes and corn were introduced into European society,
- 10:38which helped them grow. All that stuff was stolen.
- 10:42But had they been turned away, it would have given them and it would have given
- 10:46the people of the Americas the opportunity to make sure that they were properly paid.
- 10:52For the growth and selling of potatoes and corn.
- 10:57Well, fur wasn't that also one of the major commodities that they traded.
- 11:03So the natives had the fur to trade back to Europe.
- 11:09I mean, just it's so many things that would just be different.
- 11:13And I think we take for granted one how.
- 11:19Don't i don't i forget
- 11:23it how the europeans screwed up the world basically
- 11:27and i i mean like i know some of
- 11:29y'all probably like yeah you hate white people no not really
- 11:32it is it's just a thing right i
- 11:35mean i i i i can't i i i
- 11:39can't recount history without acknowledging what
- 11:42happened fact yeah yeah I mean yeah the fact is
- 11:45is that if if we come across a subject
- 11:49that we want to talk about that involves black folk
- 11:52that did some ignorant shit we will call
- 11:55it out yeah period I mean we will call it out this isn't a one-sided argument
- 12:00this is these are and keep in mind people listening these are hypotheticals
- 12:05hypothetical what could have happened what could have what would have right
- 12:08right right maybe perhaps right I mean no one can say for sure but As I was saying,
- 12:15had they not screwed up the world, I mean, just.
- 12:19Imagine if if if Africa was for Africans, India was for Indians, Asia was for Asians.
- 12:28You know what I'm saying? Just just imagine what the world would be,
- 12:31perhaps or no, perhaps World War One would not have happened had Europeans not
- 12:41been allowed to get off that boat.
- 12:43World War Two might not have World War Two. Had that, uh, was it Australian
- 12:48soldier or the British soldier would have just shot Hitler in that open field?
- 12:52Well, he'd have been dead at 20 whatever he was. I mean, like what?
- 13:02And don't don't get me wrong. People always find something to fight about.
- 13:07I mean, that's that's just the nature of human beings. So, so,
- 13:11so I'm not sitting here trying to claim that the world would be a utopia and
- 13:17there would be just everlasting peace.
- 13:19I'm not trying to make that claim at all. But.
- 13:23I'm just saying maybe he would have never even rose to power had they not come to America.
- 13:30I mean, they all say he learned how to mistreat people from America. Yeah.
- 13:38Yeah. So so so I'm just saying, you know, perhaps there would be no Holocaust.
- 13:44Had the Native Americans just said, get back on the boat and and obviously no Holocaust.
- 13:52Also drastically changes the landscape, the population of that part of the world.
- 14:03So it's just crazy how one or two things can drastically alter one or two events.
- 14:12Three to four hundred years. Yes.
- 14:14And we're still feeling those effects today.
- 14:18It's very interesting and very crazy at the same time. Which is wild when people
- 14:23don't acknowledge that we're still feeling the effects of certain things.
- 14:27Like when you talk about when people talk about generational trauma. Oh, for sure.
- 14:33Generational wealth. Yeah, generational wealth as well. Because,
- 14:35look, I could sit here as a mature adult and a more mature father.
- 14:43There are plenty of things. When the twins were first born, I didn't know what
- 14:47the hell I was doing. I thought I did.
- 14:50Learning on the fly. But you're learning on the fly. Like we're all young,
- 14:53young learners on the fly.
- 14:54So that way, and it's funny because the twins often tell the two younger ones,
- 14:58well, we grew up with a different dad.
- 15:00And obviously I didn't beat my kids and nothing like that.
- 15:03But I was angry a lot. I raised my voice a lot, which I didn't really do to
- 15:10the two younger ones that often. Mm-hmm.
- 15:15It didn't come from my mother and father, but it came from other things that I saw around my family.
- 15:21There was a lot of yellow. It just was. It is what it is.
- 15:25And the majority of black families, that's what it was. So my family that's
- 15:29listening, y'all know damn well y'all mamas and daddies yell.
- 15:34Man, I don't even need to go into that conversation, bro.
- 15:41Yeah, that's crazy. So, yeah, y'all, we just wanted to throw that hypothetical
- 15:46out there, give everyone something to think about, you know,
- 15:50and if you guys have some other hypotheticals that you'd like us to discuss, leave a comment,
- 15:56you know, and we'll look it over, mull it over.
- 16:00And if you heard something that you didn't agree with, or maybe I messed something
- 16:05up on a statistic, or you messed something up on a statistic.
- 16:08Disput it. Yeah. Like, look...
- 16:12You leave a comment. We're not going to be the type of people to get in there
- 16:16and troll you and talk trash and be mad.
- 16:19Now it's, you know, the comment section for us is strictly for talking.
- 16:24And, you know, because we don't argue with knuckleheads.
- 16:28We but we excuse me, we we enjoy spirited debate. Yeah.
- 16:36And we enjoy having different ideas and things that challenge our ways of thinking.
- 16:43And if there's a different viewpoint, a different perspective,
- 16:47we're open to it. We love it.
- 16:50We love it. That's the type of guys we are. We like to learn.
- 16:54We like to be challenged.
- 16:55We like to look at things from all angles and look at things from a macro instead of a micro.
- 17:02Now, on the flip side of that coin, if you're wrong, we will flat out tell you
- 17:06that you're wrong. Oh, without a doubt. Ain't nobody about to debate no damn facts.
- 17:09Yeah, yeah, yeah. Facts are facts.
- 17:12And you cannot have facts based on feelings. What did she say?
- 17:16No, he had a feeling based on facts.
- 17:20No, I was going all the way back to 2007. Oh, alternative facts.
- 17:26Yeah, alternative facts. Yeah. both are equally
- 17:30stupid by the way alternative facts is
- 17:33how you write movies yeah alternative facts and
- 17:36a feeling based on a fact what what anyway
- 17:40we're we're gonna roll right into that's a great segue to our next topic which
- 17:46is the iran war where where i mean there's so much to talk about bro where you
- 17:53want to start you want to start on the economic impact it's going to have not just on America,
- 17:58but on the world, or you want to get into some of the, like.
- 18:05Okay, let me start here. Before we even get into this, I have to say this,
- 18:12and I feel like I shouldn't have to, but I know I have to.
- 18:15Talking about the Iran war the way that we're about to does not make us unpatriotic. Nope.
- 18:24You're supposed to dispute your government.
- 18:27We can support America.
- 18:32We can support the troops all day, all while acknowledging that we don't need
- 18:39to see little children being killed.
- 18:43All right. That that's that's that's our view.
- 18:46We can we can we can we can be supportive of the action and also acknowledge
- 18:52that sometimes wars just don't need to happen.
- 18:57And I know for me, you know, obviously I have relatives who are active members
- 19:02in the military and I also have the twins friend. Right.
- 19:06Who is thank God he's in Europe right now and not involved in that.
- 19:11He's obviously active member of the military so obviously i don't want to see
- 19:16him go to war i don't want him to see to see those atrocities in any way shape
- 19:20come back a change man he's a good kid so i would hate for anything like that
- 19:24to happen when he has to see any of those atrocities,
- 19:28yeah so so with that being said we're gonna we're gonna dive into this and.
- 19:33Just this week alone in the last what two three days,
- 19:37gas has already increased what like
- 19:4030 cent a gallon 30 to 40 cent a
- 19:43gallon shoot some places it shot up higher than that
- 19:46and to i mean the the longer this continues the more expensive your gas price
- 19:54is going to become but i need people to recognize how this is going to impact
- 20:01not just gas that goes into your vehicle.
- 20:05This is going to impact shipping costs because the same way that our gas is
- 20:12going to increase, their gas also increases to move those vessels.
- 20:18They turn around and they add that to the cost.
- 20:24That cost gets transferred to the customer. So any good that's being imported
- 20:31on a vessel, which most are, is probably going to increase in costs.
- 20:37So for those who don't know, jet fuel is mostly made from crude oil.
- 20:4220% of the world's oil supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz.
- 20:47Now, I'll be honest with you. I'm not sure what's going on right now as we speak with the Strait.
- 20:52I know that we said we were going to start escorting tankers through,
- 20:56but I don't know what happened with that.
- 20:58So for people that travel a lot, if you think for a second that Southwest,
- 21:03United, Delta, Spirit, so on and so forth, because jet fuel has already went up crazy.
- 21:09If you think that that round trip ticket that used to cost $400 is not going
- 21:13to go to $600, you're out of your mind. Absolutely.
- 21:18Absolutely. Like I would just say, anything.
- 21:21And the issue I have, too, with people who support this nonsense that have money,
- 21:26you're okay with spending an extra $200 on a ticket.
- 21:30What if it's you, your significant other, and two or three of your children?
- 21:34Now, you spend an extra $800 to $1,000 to fly somewhere that you used to spend way less to do.
- 21:41But you got to stand behind your president because you're not supporting the troops.
- 21:47Most of these dumbasses talking on TV are supporting the president.
- 21:52You're not supporting the troops. You're supporting the president.
- 21:56Patriots, I like to call them. They're not patriots. They're fake-triots. It's mind-blowing.
- 22:02It is. It really is.
- 22:05But I do want to get into some statistics, some numbers here,
- 22:11just some stark realities, harsh realities that I think we need to grapple with.
- 22:17I think we all have seen the six service members who've been killed. God bless them.
- 22:25Excuse me. Lord knows they didn't deserve to be killed. But. Yeah.
- 22:32The numbers being reported, last time I checked, between 1,000 and 1,300 Iranians
- 22:41have been killed in a week compared to six.
- 22:46That's crazy.
- 22:48160 to 180 children were killed in one strike.
- 22:55In that girl's school, in one strike. The first day. Those are children.
- 23:04Girls, where's your humanity? And for those who like to get their news from
- 23:09only American sources, flip over to Al Jazeera English.
- 23:14Now, I didn't like what I saw, but they showed the kids in body bags.
- 23:18Oh, wow. Now, they didn't show faces.
- 23:22But as they were tending to the body bags, you could tell.
- 23:26It's like, wait, is that a kid? And then you realize you're staring at rolls
- 23:32and rolls of little girls.
- 23:34So when you hear girls school, the first thing you think is,
- 23:39now obviously it's wrong, it's wrong.
- 23:41And it's like some 13 year olds, 15. These were, some of these were toddlers, itty bitty babies.
- 23:50Crazy, crazy. and and
- 23:53like guys i started off saying it doesn't
- 23:56make us unpatriotic to acknowledge that
- 24:00that's a tragedy it's wrong it's a
- 24:04tragedy that could have been avoided by the way and and as much as i dislike
- 24:08this dude even for that like even if you're the president and you're running
- 24:13the show if that doesn't bother you then you're an evil human being correct
- 24:18now i understand he You can't get on TV and show it.
- 24:23If that doesn't bother you, then there's something wrong with you in here.
- 24:27Correct. Not in your brain, in your heart. Correct. Something's wrong with you. Correct.
- 24:31Correct. Correct. And for those who lack empathy, those who lack sympathy.
- 24:42It's really simple. Imagine if that happened here in America, man.
- 24:48Imagine if if if some of those girls were your daughters or nieces or granddaughters.
- 24:56For those that might be too young or might be listening from around the world,
- 25:02I still remember. I remember where I was, what I was doing when Oklahoma City happened.
- 25:11I was working at a grocery store and the dude came to work at noon.
- 25:15He was like, man, y'all been in the break room? Y'all see what's going on in Oklahoma?
- 25:21And I'm like, nah, they was like, nah, man, somebody blew up one of the federal
- 25:24buildings. I remember all of us in the back were like, damn.
- 25:27And within a few hours, I remember our manager was gone for a little while. He came back.
- 25:32He was hot because he found out that there was a daycare center.
- 25:35Oh, wow. At the bottom of the building. Right. For those that don't know,
- 25:40Timothy McVeigh was about to, like, everybody was gunning for him.
- 25:45His own, hell, his own right-wing patriots were like, oh, nah,
- 25:49bro, you got to go. Because you killed all those children.
- 25:53We don't support that nonsense that happened in Iran at that girl's school.
- 25:58And it's okay to say that. Absolutely. Yeah, it's OK.
- 26:02That like that doesn't make us unpatriotic to acknowledge the fact that those
- 26:08girls did not have to die.
- 26:10Now, on the flip side of that, if if if we're supposed to be the bringers of
- 26:18peace, how in hell does this promote peace?
- 26:24You you've just made a bunch of enemies. Peace through strength is what Caroline
- 26:30Levitt said the other day, I believe.
- 26:32Just pure ignorance. Pure ignorance.
- 26:36All of these children, all of their parents, surviving parents,
- 26:41they all hate America now. Yeah.
- 26:43Even more than they may have before. Yeah.
- 26:47Which puts us at danger. Yeah. In danger more and more.
- 26:53I'm just going to run down a list. This is how many countries that we've attacked
- 26:59during this first year of the second administration.
- 27:04Iran, of course. Syria.
- 27:08Yemen, Nigeria on Christmas Day, Somalia, Iraq.
- 27:15I guess we just wanted to drop in and say hello with O'Neill.
- 27:20Ain't talked to y'all in a while. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, take this bomb with you.
- 27:25And I ran again. I mean, because just last summer, we obliterated their abilities
- 27:34to make nuclear weapons.
- 27:35But wait a minute. There's more. are we going to obliterate it again? Right, right.
- 27:40You reduced it to rubble, but somehow this rubble has magically turned into
- 27:45nuclear capabilities in less than a year.
- 27:48So let's go make more rubble. Now, I'm not sure if you're done.
- 27:52Oh, I did not mention the Caribbean boats.
- 27:56Venezuela. Don't forget about Ecuador. Whoa. So I don't. I don't know if. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 28:04You're right. I don't know if, well, I mean, were we just helping out in that capacity?
- 28:11We attacked again today. There was another barrage today.
- 28:14Now, we are in cooperation with the military.
- 28:19Correct, correct, correct, which does make it a little different.
- 28:21But we're also in cooperation with Israel.
- 28:25I don't separate the two. I hear you.
- 28:29Because, I mean, we attacked Iran along with Israel. Right. Now we're attacking
- 28:33Ecuador with Ecuador. Yeah.
- 28:35Now, granted, Ecuador is attacking people in their own country.
- 28:39Correct. And saying, you know, narco, narco terrorists.
- 28:42But one thing that and guys, we apologize. We're getting a little off topic.
- 28:46We'll get back on in a second. But one thing that's crazy to me.
- 28:49What cartel do you know doesn't fight back? Right.
- 28:54You're killing narco-terrorists. Okay, cool. There's another 35 people waiting to take its place.
- 29:00That's going to still continue to shoot it out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:08You just can't claim that you're the non-war president when all you're doing is starting wars.
- 29:15You cannot make the... One, I thought we were supposed to be America first.
- 29:23Being the police of the world does not make us America first.
- 29:27Well, we will be America first in a couple of things. We'll be one of the first
- 29:31countries where the corporations will jack prices up and have us paying $12
- 29:35for a box of God dang on Frosted Flakes.
- 29:37You absolutely correct on that. And we will be probably one of the most hated
- 29:42countries in the world also.
- 29:46And I'm only mentioning this because I had a coupon a couple of days ago and
- 29:52I was in the cereal aisle.
- 29:54The big giant size of Frosted Flakes. They used to be $4.99.
- 29:58I'd be like, this is ridiculous. It's $8.
- 30:01Yeah, I believe it. $8. And what changed? Nothing.
- 30:05Once you get six bowls, well, at my house, you get about, depending on who home,
- 30:09you might get about five bowls depending on how they're eating.
- 30:13But you're not getting more in the package. Nope.
- 30:17Yeah. You're getting less. Yep. As you and I used to work for. For sure.
- 30:21A chip company. For sure. For sure. We saw it firsthand. Firsthand.
- 30:27Firsthand. Yeah. So I feel like this, bro.
- 30:32Since all of these Warhawks and are so.
- 30:37We need to do this because they were going to attack us first,
- 30:40which there is no evidence to support that.
- 30:42I mean, it's just pure spin at this point. Mm hmm.
- 30:46I think Barron should have to go off the top, go enlist, get you a weapon.
- 30:53Yeah, this was about 500 years ago. He'd be in armor with a sword.
- 30:57Yeah, yeah. Get up there. Yeah, Barron should have to go.
- 31:00When Pete Hexf kids get old enough, they should have to go.
- 31:05Do we really want to send any offspring of somebody like Pete Hexf anywhere?
- 31:10Yes, yes. If Marco Rubio got kids old enough to go, they should go.
- 31:17Well, I know Lindsey Graham doesn't have kids. If Sean Hannity has kids, of course.
- 31:24If Sean Hannity got kids, they should go.
- 31:31There was a gesture made, y'all. But anyway, Laura Ingram. All of the Warhawks, basically.
- 31:38Their kids should have to go pick up weapons and fight. Because if it's that
- 31:45much of a big deal. Exactly.
- 31:47To protect us. If you think that this is such a righteous mission,
- 31:52then send your kids to go fight.
- 31:54But they're not going to, of course, because they don't have to.
- 31:58But they're perfectly fine with sending the rest of our kids to go fight in
- 32:04a war that did not need to take place.
- 32:07It's it's it's I think it would make them less anxious to start wars.
- 32:16So speaking of that, I'm going to bring a statistic and it's not about us. It's about Israel.
- 32:22The Israeli finance ministry is
- 32:24estimating that this war is costing Israel three billion dollars a week.
- 32:30Where aren't aren't aren't we at like a billion a day? Yeah.
- 32:34But three billion dollars a week.
- 32:37Businesses that have restrictions, there's a labor shortage,
- 32:41and they're mobilizing reservists because in Israel, everyone has to serve at
- 32:46least two years in the military.
- 32:48So now, obviously, I'm not sure what happens when they declare war on someone.
- 32:55We're not at war. Yeah, we're not at war, though. According to everybody else,
- 32:59but Trump said the day we were at war, which I thought was hilarious.
- 33:01The first time I've laughed at anything he's said in my whole life, but it was hilarious.
- 33:06But yeah, $3 billion a week. For what? Mm-hmm. Okay.
- 33:11The Iranian drones cost between $20,000 and $30,000 to make.
- 33:18And we're spending millions of dollars to shoot them down? We're spending $4
- 33:21million every time to shoot one down. Mm-mm-mm.
- 33:25They're spending 20 Gs, and they've got hundreds of thousands of these cheap
- 33:30drones. And we're spending 4 million. Cheap drones.
- 33:34Like some shit that you and I can go out here in the garage and build in a day. That's not true.
- 33:41We could do that. Then we definitely don't need to be podcasting.
- 33:47But I get your point. Yeah. But it's just like, I don't know, man.
- 33:52I just, I don't think people understand. Like, even if you are gung ho and a
- 33:57patriot and a veteran and you're supporting the military no matter what.
- 34:01I understand that, I guess.
- 34:03But there are ripple effects. Of course.
- 34:06Financially. Of course. And it's okay to acknowledge like, yo, this isn't good for us.
- 34:12We know we strong. Right. Why we got to prove it?
- 34:16You know that you can knock somebody out. Why are you going out fighting everybody? Right. Right.
- 34:22You've heard me say it. I've said it to one of my kids recently.
- 34:26Nobody is that crazy. Right.
- 34:29What happened the last time something happened on the soil from a foreign entity?
- 34:33Mm-hmm. What did we do? We damn near obliterated a whole damn country. Mm-hmm.
- 34:38Well, it's funny because our allies don't even support us in this endeavor.
- 34:45Nah. That's so... And for the first time in our lifetime.
- 34:50Yeah, that is such a telltale sign that our own allies are like.
- 34:55Y'all kind of on y'all own, man.
- 34:57And just to contrast that with how those governments behaved when it came to
- 35:06getting their citizens out of harm's way versus how we behave when it came to
- 35:13getting our citizens out of harm's way.
- 35:15Basically told people, good luck, find a way home.
- 35:18And everybody else is like, no, we got to go get our people.
- 35:21So the dude on Al Jazeera, he called that number that Marco Rubio was talking about on speaker.
- 35:29And the first message says, do not depend on the United States to get you out
- 35:36of where you are. That's nuts.
- 35:38It basically said, you know, seek shelter, et cetera, et cetera.
- 35:43This was how many days ago? I guess about five, six days ago.
- 35:46So they probably updated him by now. Yeah.
- 35:49But this was... I think he was in Israel at the time. I think he may have been in Tel Aviv.
- 35:54But I've seen videos of the basketball team from here.
- 35:59Well, a couple of American girls were over in Israel. Oh, wow.
- 36:02You know, and she was just like, I need to get the hell out of here. Right.
- 36:07It's crazy. And...
- 36:11Imminent threat came from your own government. That's like the wildest part to me.
- 36:19Had we not bombed, everyone would have been okay.
- 36:24Of course, there's always travel risk. Yeah.
- 36:28But for the most part, everyone would have did what they had to do and came on back home.
- 36:35But because we decided to bomb just out of nowhere, and like He didn't even
- 36:41give him a week like he did last time. Right.
- 36:44Because the strikes in last June or whenever it was last summer,
- 36:48it was like, we're going to give you a week. But then he like bombed him like the next day.
- 36:52He didn't even give a warning this time. He just like bombed.
- 36:55Well, did you see the video where Harvey Levin was doing a split screen interview
- 36:59with the I want to say the guy worked for Wall Street Journal?
- 37:02But he said live on air two days before it happened that he said,
- 37:06yeah, he was like, I got to tell you what I just overheard on the other table. when he was in D.C.
- 37:11And Harvey Levin, it's out there. It was on TMZ. Harvey Levin said,
- 37:14what? He said, I think we're about to bomb Iran. He said that two days before the bomb.
- 37:19Harvey Levin was like, what? He said, who was it? He was like,
- 37:22well, obviously, I'm not going to tell you. He said, but yeah.
- 37:26And in the comments section, there were people, there was a lady that said she
- 37:31used to be a server at a restaurant in D.C.
- 37:33And she said she would go home and talk to her husband and go,
- 37:36yeah, I think we're about to do X, Y, and Z.
- 37:38And then it'd show up on the news two or three days because she
- 37:41could just hear conversations taking place wow republican
- 37:45democratic don't matter just running your damn mouth in
- 37:48the middle of a damn restaurant yeah yeah
- 37:52i mean again we're we're we're saying a lot here but we just really want to
- 37:57say that while we support the troops we acknowledge that this war did not have
- 38:03to happen yeah we don't support this war yeah we don't we don't support this war is It's going to be.
- 38:10Much more detrimental than it will be a benefit for the American people.
- 38:17And if you don't believe me, I mean, just really be honest and sit back and
- 38:22ask yourself, how does bombing Iran help you in your day-to-day life?
- 38:30Chances are the only changes to your life are going to be detriments and not
- 38:36benefits because everything is going to be more expensive.
- 38:41Traveling outside of the United States will most likely become more of a challenge for Americans.
- 38:50Again, we're making enemies.
- 38:53So if we look at history, we'll go back to the Gulf War, 1990.
- 38:59The economy with the Wall Street in this country tends to react pretty quick to oil issues.
- 39:06So in 1990 when Iraq invaded Kuwait, oil prices doubled.
- 39:13Because $15 in the mid-1990s to nearly in mid-1990s to nearly $40 by October.
- 39:24That's nuts. Keep in mind what I said. When Iraq invaded Kuwait,
- 39:29not when we went to war, But just the fact that Iraq invaded Kuwait, it doubled.
- 39:36What do you think that's going to do nowadays? Because I think already crude
- 39:40has gone up, what, from 70 to, yeah, it went from 70 to $83 a barrel in a few days.
- 39:49You had LNG suspend production,
- 39:55cutter energy suspended production, and then it said that gas prices across
- 40:01Europe and Asia will probably spike 40 to 50 percent in some markets.
- 40:07Let's talk some more about this global impact that this war is going to have
- 40:12negatively and positively if there is a positive.
- 40:16Yeah, I was about to say, I don't think there's a positive.
- 40:19I think just the, it's not just going to hit us. I mean, everything that we
- 40:23discuss is going to happen to us. It's going to happen everywhere else. For sure.
- 40:27And it's similar to how we talked about tariffs a couple of weeks ago. For sure.
- 40:31That people need to understand that these corporations are not your friends.
- 40:36There's nobody in these corporations sitting at the top saying,
- 40:39well, hey, we can't raise a canned good from $0.89 to $2.
- 40:45Nobody's saying that. They're saying, let's take it from $0.89 to $3.50 to alter.
- 40:51I mean, and I saw it. How much did it cost us to send in these goods?
- 40:55Oh, okay. Yeah. We're just going to take that 50% and add that on to the cost.
- 41:00Yeah. You saw it. You've mentioned in the past. You worked in- Oh, for sure. For decades.
- 41:06For sure. My previous job was involved with delivery trucks.
- 41:10You know, I watched the price of ice cream go up over five years and a little
- 41:16bit of the food that we deliver to.
- 41:18And it's just like you walk into these stores and you go, OK,
- 41:22so this pint of Ben and Jerry's when I got hired was four dollars.
- 41:27When I left that company, a part of Ben & Jerry's was $7.
- 41:31So, so to, to, to, to, to make this plain, right?
- 41:39After the Supreme Court smacked down his tariffs, he initiated a 15% global tariff on the world.
- 41:48So, so, so, so basically...
- 41:52How am I? I'm trying to I'm trying to word this correctly.
- 41:57When you when you when you do the math, take this 15 percent tariff, global tariff,
- 42:07add that to the additional cost for all of your everyday goods from this war.
- 42:12And again, just realize that this guy does not care about working class,
- 42:22average American people. He'll be okay.
- 42:27Kids will be okay. You know, all of those guys with their cabinet positions,
- 42:32they'll be okay. They won't be affected.
- 42:34They won't have the same financial woes that the rest of us are about to face.
- 42:41So this is another reason why it's okay to criticize the war because it's going
- 42:48to have a negative impact financially on the majority of Americans and the world,
- 42:55like you were saying, because shipping costs don't just affect America.
- 42:59No, yeah. Shipping costs are going to affect everyone across the world who imports.
- 43:06Everyone's goods are going to go up simultaneously.
- 43:10So I don't know who said this, but I saw it in an article somewhere and I made sure to take a note of it.
- 43:16It said the system is built so that corporations privatize their profits during
- 43:21peacetime, but socialize their financial pain during a crisis.
- 43:26I just sat there and thought about that. I'm like, that's true. Chaos is profitable.
- 43:32Oh, we ain't taking a hit on this. That stock price needs to continue to rise.
- 43:37Because even if a stock price goes from $40 to $38, it may not seem like a lot to you and I.
- 43:44People's heads are rolling at companies when that happens. So what they're doing
- 43:48is they're trying to raise that price and keep that profit. I'm just sitting here thinking.
- 43:55The Dow is up 50,000 well
- 43:59it's down now what do you got to say now it's it's way down now the fact that
- 44:06that was even said yeah and somebody up there should have been like what is
- 44:11you talking about they absolutely should have asked her that what does it have
- 44:15to do with anything? Nothing. Nothing.
- 44:18I'm sorry. I got us off. I just had to say that because it was on my mind.
- 44:25Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So so so to get back on topic, to get back on point.
- 44:31I think we all just need to get out of our indoctrination about we have to support
- 44:41the president and we have to support wars and actually realize how this is going
- 44:46to just hurt so many people.
- 44:48Not just the innocent people that are going to get killed, not just the innocent
- 44:53people in Iran, but Iran, they're striking any and everywhere that the U.S. has a base.
- 45:01So all of the innocent people who are going to get killed in Bahrain and all
- 45:07of those places across the Middle East.
- 45:09So many people are going to get hurt from a war that just did not have to take
- 45:16place. This has nothing to do with Iran being an evil empire.
- 45:21Okay. No one's saying that they're the good guys.
- 45:25Right. Yeah. No one is saying that at all.
- 45:29We're just saying that we did not need to make this attack.
- 45:35There was no imminent danger.
- 45:38They did not attack us first. Mr. G.I. joke.
- 45:42They didn't attack us first. Okay. we started this.
- 45:47So all of your tough guy, we're going to kill everything that moves.
- 45:53Again, that's why his kids need to be over there. You know what makes me mad
- 45:57about him? Obviously, I didn't serve in the military. My father was in the military.
- 46:00Uncles, cousins, etc.
- 46:04Him wear that pocket square like he's some type of war hero it
- 46:07infuriates me like it does i'm
- 46:10just sitting there like is this dude even like
- 46:14i don't know what he did i mean i know he served during war
- 46:18time so i'm not saying he wasn't serving but i'm not saying is there any proof
- 46:23that he ever saw any type of combat well my whole thing is is is what you were
- 46:29saying earlier you have to be some kind of evil so they're enjoying this yeah to to to actually.
- 46:38Like treat this like like like like you were saying
- 46:41like excuse me like it's a video game like you're trying to just amass points
- 46:48for for every person you kill it is it's just weird to So they posted another
- 46:54video of NFL hits, and every time there was a hit,
- 46:59they would show a bomb blowing something up in Iran.
- 47:02I saw that before I came over here today, and I'm just like,
- 47:06because it was on Don Lemon's page. I'm like, man, come on, man. No, seriously.
- 47:11Just stop. From the official White House page. People are dying.
- 47:16Every bomb that hits a target, someone dies. Or something is just altered.
- 47:23Somebody's life is just altered. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:27And and and I think that's kind of the only way to look at it is you you have to.
- 47:32And of course, we get it. There are no rules. Well, take it back.
- 47:36There are rules of engagement, which is another thing that G.I.
- 47:41Joke was talking about is we're not going to follow rules of engagement.
- 47:45Well, those rules of engagement are there to keep you from committing war crimes,
- 47:53which you've already kind of done.
- 47:56So good luck in the future, my guy. So that boat that we sang with a submarine
- 48:01shot hit it with a torpedo.
- 48:04Crew was headed back to Iran. They were coming from, God forgive me.
- 48:10It may have been Sri Lanka that
- 48:12they were coming back from. That boat was mostly filled with musicians.
- 48:17Oh, wow. Army musicians. Oh, wow. For Iran.
- 48:20So the problem that I have with it, I mean, war is war. I get it.
- 48:27The issue I have is it states in the Navy's creed somewhere,
- 48:33and it might not be their creed, but it states in rules of engagement somewhere
- 48:37that if you sink a boat, you have to offer help.
- 48:40You have to try to rescue. Right, right, right. You just can't sit there and let people drown.
- 48:44So now the Iranian vessel did send a mayday back to Sri Lanka.
- 48:50And in Sri Lanka, they came, but it took an hour.
- 48:53We offered no help. our submarine left the scene. The problem I have with that
- 48:58now, I don't know how many people passed, but they were able to rescue most of the people.
- 49:03In the future if one of our boats go down and you're let's say you're in the
- 49:07south china sea right man y'all be all right yeah y'all can just wait for one
- 49:12of your allies over there yeah
- 49:14to come and scoop you up which is why you have rules of engagement yes,
- 49:21because if you don't we're all they're all savages right exactly exactly and
- 49:27anything else you want to hit on, bro?
- 49:30Nah, because we can talk about that until midnight. Yeah, and I'm trying not
- 49:35to get my blood pressure up.
- 49:36Alright, as you guys probably noticed for the second week in a row,
- 49:40we're just going to skip current events and our work and we're going to move
- 49:45right into our five on the Black Hand Side movie review.
- 49:51And the movie we chose this week is New Jack City.
- 49:56Take it away, my brother. All right. So New Jack City was actually,
- 50:01it premiered first in January of 1991 at the Sundance Film Festival.
- 50:08Okay. It was not actually released nationwide until March 8th, 1991.
- 50:14As you mentioned before we started, $8 million budget, ended up grossing $47.6 million domestically.
- 50:21And during 91, it actually held the title as the highest grossing independent film.
- 50:28They call that an independent film? Well, it was. Interesting. Mm-hmm.
- 50:32The director, Mario Van Peeples, his first feature film that he directed.
- 50:38The writers were Thomas Lee Wright and Barry Michael Cooper did the,
- 50:43well, they both did the screenplay.
- 50:45The cast, Wesley Snipes as Nino Brown.
- 50:48For sure. Ice-T as Scotty Appleton, Detective Scotty Appleton.
- 50:53Alan Payne as G-Money. Yep. which G-Money was supposed to be played by a musician.
- 51:03Rapper or a singer? No, famous. He, I think it's in my, I think it's in. Okay. Okay.
- 51:10But it, when I saw it, I was like, what? Chris Rock is Pookie.
- 51:15Legendary role. Yeah. Judd Nelson. Yeah. Nick Peretti. Yeah.
- 51:20Mario Van Peoples as Stone. He was the leader of the police operation.
- 51:24Yeah. Michael Michelle as Selena Thomas, Nino's girlfriend.
- 51:28What's funny is they, When you look up the description of her in the movie,
- 51:32they have her listed as Nino's jealous girlfriend. I was like, what? Wow.
- 51:38Vanessa A. Williams as Keisha, who had some iconic lines. Oh, yeah.
- 51:47But, gosh, she did a horrible job in a couple of them scenes. Rock the bye, baby.
- 51:53When she say, back off, Gigantor.
- 51:57Or something like that. Not exactly what she said. bro. And Bill Nye.
- 52:01The Detterman. Yeah, the Detterman.
- 52:04Bitch is just hilarious. Yeah.
- 52:07Making fun of his speech impediment basically.
- 52:13I'm thinking when they were sitting around that table. He was like,
- 52:16no, what do you think? Detterman? Yeah.
- 52:20Williams. Christopher Williams. His first big acting role. Never liked you anyway. Yeah.
- 52:27Yeah. The fake Al B. Shore.
- 52:30Wait. I knew I knew him. Yo, he's 5'0".
- 52:34Legendary Bill Cobb was in this from the old Blaxploitation movies back in the day.
- 52:41A lot of cameos. Yes. And let's not forget, back when movie soundtracks meant something.
- 52:50But bro, think about it. We were coming up. When movies came out,
- 52:54we went to tours looking for that soundtrack. Oh, for sure.
- 52:57Because the soundtrack meant so much.
- 52:59Because back then a soundtrack was better than someone's CD.
- 53:03Oh, man. You know, you get a CD and you might get two, three good hits off of
- 53:08it, where a soundtrack, no skips. It just banged out.
- 53:12Yeah. Soundtrack, Color Me Bad, I Want to Sex You Up. Yep. Christopher Williams,
- 53:17I'm Dreamin'. Yep. Ice-T, New Jack Hustler. Yep.
- 53:20Troop, Levert, Koura Latifah, For the Love of Money, Living for the City,
- 53:26and then of course Guy, New Jack City.
- 53:28And then the missing track. You got Keith Sweat at the wedding.
- 53:34His song, excuse me y'all. But the missing track that I didn't realize,
- 53:39I guess I forgot that it was missing, but it couldn't get clear it didn't get
- 53:42cleared, was Welcome to the Terror Dome.
- 53:46Remember when Ice-T was chasing?
- 53:48Oh, that's right. welcome to the pterodome didn't get cleared so they weren't
- 53:53able to use it on the soundtrack interesting but you can use it in the damn
- 53:57movie right right it does not make sense um so so let's let's go with some of
- 54:01these cameos bro we got let's see it keeps sweat mm-hmm ashford and simpson oh yeah.
- 54:09Was actually singing on the corner around that can around that can Flava Flav had a cameo in it,
- 54:18Fab Five Freddy had a cameo did Guy perform at the club also at the New Year's
- 54:24party I think Guy performed didn't he?
- 54:28Yeah yeah yeah so Guy Kelly uh Kelly my goodness Teddy Riley and Guy yeah they
- 54:34did they did New Jack Swing yeah yeah yeah yeah so it was full of um Full of cameos as well.
- 54:42Eager Mouse. Yeah. The Jamaican reggae dance hall. Yeah.
- 54:48Yeah, Fab Five Freddy. Fab Five Freddy being everything.
- 54:52Yeah, that's true. You couldn't do a New York joint without having that.
- 54:55When he popped up in American Gangsters, like, they don't Fab Five Freddy doing that. Yeah.
- 55:01So that's just some of the cast. Let's get into the plot of this movie, bro.
- 55:06So the plot I got it broken down So the rise of an empire basically So in the
- 55:1380s New York Obviously the height crack epidemic It follows Nino Brown An ambitious,
- 55:20ruthless And highly intelligent street thug Realizing the massive financial
- 55:24potential Of this drug This new highly addictive drug Nino and his gang Cash
- 55:29Money Brothers Violently take over an entire apartment complex In Harlem called
- 55:33the Carter The Carter They evict the tenants,
- 55:36barricade the building, and turn it into a 24-7 highly organized crack manufacturing
- 55:40and distribution fortress.
- 55:43And, of course, Nino quickly becomes a multimillionaire, ruling the streets, so on and so forth.
- 55:50Then, of course, they put together an undercover operation with Ice-T,
- 55:54Judd, Nelson, Mario Van Peoples, so on and so forth.
- 55:58So he was sent in to infiltrate.
- 56:00They used Pookie to infiltrate. Oh, man.
- 56:04Course he just keep calling him yeah keep calling me man keep calling me i gotta work to it.
- 56:16Scotty help me i'm gonna die send that
- 56:20fool into a crack house with a
- 56:23with a camera on his belt yeah yeah and
- 56:26then he gonna be all right oh all that temptation around
- 56:30yeah yeah and then
- 56:33of course you just got little things
- 56:37happening here and there you know the the dispute with
- 56:39him and his girl and and g money's girl
- 56:42air quotes so it
- 56:47it it wasn't
- 56:50just the infiltration of the carter that brought them down because i i honestly
- 56:57think that they could have recovered from the infiltration of the carter it
- 57:03was actually g money that brought them down g money and his jealousy.
- 57:10Ruined the entire operation but they did but they they said something like they
- 57:15were making like a million dollars a week which is nuts for back then 90s the
- 57:20early 90s you're making a million a week that's crazy but a million dollars
- 57:25a week operation that G money,
- 57:29destroyed one because he wanted to be Nino and
- 57:33two because of that chick and the fact that he trying to do all these deals
- 57:39because remember when he was marching iced tea yeah off the basketball court
- 57:43yeah basically telling him like hey man I'm gonna be the man so yeah chill out
- 57:47that was that was that was his jealousy though because Nino took his chick yeah it's like bro,
- 57:52You can get another chick. Like, what are you doing?
- 57:56What are you doing? So, yeah.
- 58:00Empire dies from within. It always does.
- 58:03It's hard to break down an empire from the outside because they're just too strong.
- 58:09But if you can get the dam to start to crack from the inside,
- 58:14that's how you topple an empire.
- 58:17And G money was to crack G money and was smoking crack.
- 58:22But G money was the one who caused the empire to fall.
- 58:27It was all G money's fault. bro remember when that
- 58:31movie came out so when this movie came out what were
- 58:34we 16 about yeah because
- 58:37we were like fresh maybe yeah yeah no more we
- 58:40were older older than fresh we graduated yeah 17
- 58:43we graduated yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah so shit
- 58:46we were juniors yeah so we were juniors remember
- 58:49when that scene happened when we found out that g money was
- 58:52smoking them rods hey it was nuts right straight
- 58:55off the cosby show right lance you
- 59:00lost me for like half a second i was like what yeah
- 59:03he was lance on the cosby show straight off the cosby show
- 59:06in the bng money because at that time like
- 59:10that that rock was running rampant to where we grew oh for sure so to see that
- 59:15in the movie it was just like yo for sure this is wild really and i mean like
- 59:21it It was this this movie has such a cultural impact, right,
- 59:26that I know people who were saying silly.
- 59:30Silly, silly shit like let's go take over an apartment complex.
- 59:34And it's just like, get out of the movies, bro.
- 59:37Like, do you know how fast you'll be in jail?
- 59:42Let's go take over an apartment complex. I'm like, no, bro. So.
- 59:47Most people who have seen the movie may not have dug deep into it.
- 59:51This movie, Nino and G-Money are based on the Chamber Brothers from Detroit.
- 59:57BML? No, no, no. The Chamber Brothers. Oh, boy, them dudes were...
- 1:00:04Their property that they took over in Detroit was called the Broadmoor.
- 1:00:08And it was just like the Carter. So it was based on it. Okay.
- 1:00:11So the guy that helped write the screenplay, he wrote an article for the Village Voice. Okay.
- 1:00:17In Detroit on the Chamber Brothers. I'm going to have to do some research on
- 1:00:21this. So the movie was written based on the Chamber Brothers. Okay.
- 1:00:26And those are the dudes who, there's like a video that was circling on the internet
- 1:00:31a couple years ago from like the late 80s where they had waste baskets and laundry
- 1:00:36baskets full of $1 bills.
- 1:00:40And those are the ones that they would take and give to the community and go to strip clubs.
- 1:00:47They would famously not spend dollar bills. Oh, wow. Because it was beneath them. Oh, wow.
- 1:00:55Yeah. That much bread. Yeah. But they ran the Brawlmore.
- 1:00:59And that article that he wrote was called Kids Killing Kids.
- 1:01:02And then it was called New Jack City.
- 1:01:04Okay. And that's how he ended up coming up with the concept.
- 1:01:08Okay. For the movie. That's interesting. I'm going to definitely have to look that up.
- 1:01:12And then, of course, Nino's character. The story was based on the Chamber Brothers.
- 1:01:16But Nino's character was based on Nicky Barnes. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay.
- 1:01:21All right. Yeah, his character was based on Nicky Barnes. Yeah.
- 1:01:26Now, this is another, like, unknown fact, if you will, if you'll indulge. Mm-hmm.
- 1:01:35When you think of the warehouse scene.
- 1:01:38All of the stuff Nino was doing in that warehouse, how many cops he killed. Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:44All of that fantastical stuff he was doing.
- 1:01:48You know, he was also trying to get Black Panther made around that same time.
- 1:01:54And studios kept telling him no. He totally wanted to be T'Challa. Yeah.
- 1:02:00Back then in the 90s. And when you see some of the stuff he's doing in that
- 1:02:04warehouse, you can totally see him being T'Challa.
- 1:02:07Just like I'm like when I when I watch this as a grown up I'm just like man Nino was a bad boy.
- 1:02:15So and of course I think we talked about this on
- 1:02:18the pod he was supposed to be Ice-T's character Ice-T was supposed to be Nino
- 1:02:25Brown oh really and Martin was Pookie I knew that Martin was supposed to be
- 1:02:31Pookie I didn't know that Ice-T and Nino and Wesley Snipes was supposed to switch though,
- 1:02:37So what made him do it the other way?
- 1:02:40I think it was with Ice-T not wanting to play that type of character.
- 1:02:47Really? Because he was already, like, the way he was perceived.
- 1:02:50Associated with the gangster rap and everything. He didn't want.
- 1:02:53Oh, wow. But then, of course, Nino was advised, like, nah, man,
- 1:02:57this character's great for you.
- 1:02:59Based on the way he auditioned, they were like, nah, this character's great for you.
- 1:03:03I mean, this would kind of, like, shot Wesley Snipes into the stratosphere. It was.
- 1:03:08Yeah. I mean, Major League came out probably, what, a year before or the same
- 1:03:13year or something like that.
- 1:03:14But yeah, being Nino was just like, pew!
- 1:03:18His career took off after that. For the next six years, he was everywhere.
- 1:03:23Yeah, he was the man.
- 1:03:27Passenger 57 to Jungle Fever. Right.
- 1:03:30Man, just... All of those action movies he started getting.
- 1:03:34Yeah, yeah, yeah. He was Jason Statham before Jason Statham.
- 1:03:37And Nino is responsible for the MCU and Marvel, even though Blade wasn't an MCU movie.
- 1:03:48Blade kicked off the MCU. Blade made them realize that, excuse me,
- 1:03:55that superhero movies could be profitable and not just for comic book geeks.
- 1:04:00They were made the right way.
- 1:04:01If they were made the right way. One hundred percent.
- 1:04:05Yeah. As much as we loved Batman.
- 1:04:08Yeah, but it was kind of campy. It was corny. Yeah, it truly was.
- 1:04:12You wasted prime Michael Keaton and prime Jack Nicholson. Correct.
- 1:04:16Now, if it came on right now, I'd be like, oh, shoot, Batman.
- 1:04:19I'd watch it. Oh, for sure.
- 1:04:21But when I look at it now and I compare it to how dark Batman Begins was at
- 1:04:25the beginning of the Prince of Anola trilogy, it could have been made.
- 1:04:30You could have done that back then. There were darker movies back then.
- 1:04:33You could have done the same thing. Yeah, 100%. Thank you.
- 1:04:37100%. I know you're like, we're supposed to be talking about New Jack City,
- 1:04:42but it was relevant, guys. It was relevant.
- 1:04:46Oh, yeah. All that was relevant. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was completely relevant.
- 1:04:49So like I was saying before I went on that tangent, G-Money is the reason that the empire crumbled.
- 1:05:00But in between them blowing up and the empire crumbling, there are some very memorable scenes.
- 1:05:09Nino on the back of the motorcycle when they did the drive by on the Italians.
- 1:05:15Which was a real life story. The famous picture of the Mafia Don laying back there. Yes.
- 1:05:22With the cigarettes still in his mouth. Yeah. Forget his name.
- 1:05:27The scene when he brought the
- 1:05:30black jockey in with the rope around his neck to antagonize Nino is that your
- 1:05:38gigantor scene right there when Nino took the jockey and broke it over his head
- 1:05:43yeah and pulled out that butterfly knife and cut that ponytail he was working that butterfly knife,
- 1:05:49I'm not going to say it you spent jelly eating,
- 1:05:54I'm not going to say it that's just 2026 just go watch that scene if you want to know what Nino called.
- 1:06:04Oh man yeah yeah,
- 1:06:08We must talk about the scene with the dog, man. When they all had on black. When they got raided.
- 1:06:17Christopher Williams got stabbed in the hand. Never liked you anyway.
- 1:06:21Never liked you anyway. Yeah.
- 1:06:23Yeah. That's the famous sit your five dollar ass down before I make change.
- 1:06:27Correct. Correct. How nervous they all were.
- 1:06:31Man. Man, bro. It's just, man.
- 1:06:34That scene was memorable. and I'm wondering what year did Untouchables come out?
- 1:06:4189, I want to say. 88 or 89. So I wonder if that might have been inspired by
- 1:06:47that scene with the baseball bat.
- 1:06:49De Niro bust the old boy head with that baseball bat. That's interesting.
- 1:06:53And I never thought about it until just now.
- 1:06:55Probably. I mean, I know how much you like Kevin Costner, so I wanted to bring that up.
- 1:06:59Oh, man. You know I hate Kevin Costner, but I do love Untouchables, though.
- 1:07:04I know, yeah. That, that, that's such a good movie, but man,
- 1:07:07Hey, see now you're about to make me angry, bro.
- 1:07:12But you know what? I always think of to go on another tangent.
- 1:07:16And I, again, I, this movie was so cultural.
- 1:07:20It was the Martin scene when they stole his, uh, this player or whatever. Bro, man.
- 1:07:27And he had, he had the fake dog.
- 1:07:30Like Nino had, they all had on black.
- 1:07:35When that fool said, come on now, and the dog had fell over and he was dragging it by the chain.
- 1:07:41You ever hear Cole talk about that?
- 1:07:45He talked about that when he was on with Math Alpha, where he said that the original...
- 1:07:52Was calling for a German Shepherd. But they couldn't get some type of insurance
- 1:07:56clearance or something.
- 1:07:58And they wanted to scrap the whole scene and Martin was like,
- 1:08:01oh no, to hell with that. And then Martin went out and bought that damn dog.
- 1:08:04Yeah, and he told it to sit and it fell over and he was like, lay.
- 1:08:09Tommy was over there fighting for his life. All of them.
- 1:08:12All of them, bro. None of them could stay in character.
- 1:08:16They all had smirks on their faces. They were all trying so hard not to laugh during that scene.
- 1:08:22Oh man, I'm trying to think What else are some memorable scenes The wedding scene,
- 1:08:27The shootout at the wedding And uh That little baby And used her as a shield
- 1:08:35Yeah, Nino was ruthless,
- 1:08:37heartless Yeah In the end Spoiler alert Nino actually kills G-Money Yes But Nino We all we got.
- 1:08:53Yeah, nah, you got to go, bro. You got to go. See you, B.
- 1:08:58See you, B. We always got. Little known fact.
- 1:09:04Script called Fanino to live. Oh, interesting. And he said no.
- 1:09:09He said, you have to kill me.
- 1:09:11Interesting. Because he didn't want to make a sequel. It was supposed to be a sequel.
- 1:09:14He didn't want to live. He was like, no. You have to kill me.
- 1:09:18You can't let that character live.
- 1:09:20Hey, he was so cold in court. He was like, I'm taking down everybody.
- 1:09:25Oh, he was so cold. Man. What was funny, though, was after he did that,
- 1:09:30how smooth he sat back down and called his lawyer up. Yeah.
- 1:09:34And then told Ice-T, don't worry. When this is all over, you can come work for me.
- 1:09:43When he shot him, he fell. Nelson would smile, put the glasses on,
- 1:09:49and start walking. Yeah.
- 1:09:51Great movie. Great movie. Great movie. So we just gave it away.
- 1:09:56We don't even need to rate this thing, right? I mean, it's just great.
- 1:10:01It's a great movie. Classic. And it's one that, yeah, you're going to have some
- 1:10:06dialogue in there that might not be up to par in 2026.
- 1:10:10But, I mean, for the most part, not really.
- 1:10:14Listen, when you think great gangster movies. Yeah, it's up there.
- 1:10:20You think The Godfather.
- 1:10:22Oh, yeah. You think Scarface. You think Goodfellas.
- 1:10:26New Jack City is in there. It belongs in there with the great gangster movies.
- 1:10:33This is a classic y'all don't sleep on the fact that it has a majority black cast.
- 1:10:40New Jack city is a classic.
- 1:10:43Go watch it. Check it out. And although Mario van peoples reminds me a lot of.
- 1:10:49Does it like to throw themselves in movies? Oh, for sure. Which he does.
- 1:10:52I thought that he did a great job directing this movie. Oh, he did.
- 1:10:57This actually put him on another level. Oh, yeah. As far as directing also.
- 1:11:01Well, it got him out of that. His father's campy. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:05Controversial. Yeah. Crazy ass movies from the Senate. Yeah.
- 1:11:09Yeah, yeah, yeah. This also. Because you said that this was his first directorial.
- 1:11:15Yeah, it was his feature film directorial. directorial but but he had done like
- 1:11:18some comedy skits and stuff right just kind of like some kind of goofy yeah
- 1:11:23type stuff so yeah so this this put him on a i'm here i'm here to stay take me serious,
- 1:11:32as a director i mean he was everywhere in the
- 1:11:3490s too oh for sure for sure but this this led for what
- 1:11:37posse posse yep about uh black
- 1:11:40cowboys for him and all of that and again he said
- 1:11:43he got to put himself in his movies but i get
- 1:11:46it i i i'd probably do the
- 1:11:49same thing in that movie oh yes
- 1:11:52i am the league i know why you're saying that but we ain't gonna go into that
- 1:11:56but maybe that's one we can get into on a future episode we haven't we haven't
- 1:12:03we haven't discussed that yet correct that's the same reason like when uh why
- 1:12:08tarantino get criticized so much for from dust to on.
- 1:12:12Oh, I got you. You just had to throw yourself in that scene.
- 1:12:15I feel you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:12:18All right, y'all. So, like we were just saying, we consider this movie great.
- 1:12:22It is a classic. So, yeah, we don't even need to go into how many high fives.
- 1:12:29So, we're just going to push right on through to our closing monologue.
- 1:12:33My brother, the floor is yours. Take it away.
- 1:12:37Appreciate it. So, I want to talk about something that's been kind of sitting heavy on me.
- 1:12:41You and I talk about community a lot, but part of being in a community is having
- 1:12:47enough self-respect to stand up for it.
- 1:12:50Man. You're a black man. I'm not of Spanish descent. You're not of Spanish descent.
- 1:12:55And I don't speak the language.
- 1:12:57But I know what it looks like when a culture is being insulted.
- 1:13:01And I know a pattern when I see one.
- 1:13:04You see, at this summit in Miami, Donald Trump stands up in front of a room
- 1:13:08full of our neighbors and says, I quote, I'm not learning your damn language. I don't have time.
- 1:13:15And then his secretary of defense, Pete Hexeth, follows it up with a joke about
- 1:13:20how he only speaks American.
- 1:13:22And what does Marco Rubio do? A son of Cuban immigrants.
- 1:13:26He just stands there, bows his head, accepts the insult like it's part of the job.
- 1:13:32That's what gets me. It's one thing to have a different political view.
- 1:13:35It's another to let someone spit on your history to your face while you just take it.
- 1:13:40And it isn't just the Latin leaders. I'm looking at the black men in this administration too.
- 1:13:46Where's the pride? Where's the backbone.
- 1:13:49You have to stop aligning yourselves to be the punchline of someone else's joke.
- 1:13:54If you have to strip away who you are just to fit in with people who clearly
- 1:13:58don't respect you and you aren't leading, you're just following.
- 1:14:02My co-host and I, we stand in total solidarity with everyone being targeted
- 1:14:07by this ignorance today.
- 1:14:08We owe it to the next generation to never let ourselves be someone else's doormat.
- 1:14:14If you're in, if you're going to be in the room, stand up straight.
- 1:14:18Otherwise, that chair is not worth sitting in.
- 1:14:22Excellent. Byron Donalds? Tim Scott?
- 1:14:27Just saying. You can be Republican. I cannot understand it.
- 1:14:34Understand. You and I can go back to when we were teenagers.
- 1:14:38Why are you allowing your dignity to be disrespected so much?
- 1:14:42Just to fit in. Colin Powell never sacrificed his blackness.
- 1:14:47But they never put him in situations.
- 1:14:51Exactly. But if they did, he probably would have knocked one of their asses out.
- 1:14:55That's the difference too. You're not about to talk crazy to him. Correct.
