- 1:03SPEAKER_02: We're um doing well with Orange Road, top of the league.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, nothing really uh not a lot going on to be honest, Philip.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: I'm sure, I'm sure we will get it.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: It took you two seconds to tell us that we're top of the league.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: James, how are you?
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you asked me how how I'm doing.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: What the fuck do you want me to tell?
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's no one uh no one cares about how my personal life is going, so I'll tell about hockey.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: It's a hockey podcast, right?
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: James, how are you?
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: I'm great, thanks.
- 1:38SPEAKER_04: I'm really well.
- 1:39SPEAKER_04: Thanks for having me back.
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: Um my personal life is fantastic.
- 1:44SPEAKER_04: Uh my hockey life is is is less fantastic at the moment.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: No, I'm joking, it's all it's all good.
- 1:53SPEAKER_04: Um lovely to be here.
- 1:55SPEAKER_04: You I must say congrats on your uh your prediction from the last time I was on.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: The great son.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: Like many times before, I was completely right, and I predicted the the rise of Struan Walker.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: Uh wasn't surprised by it at all.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: Guy's an absolute weapon.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Uh I think he he I I don't wanna don't wanna like uh uh uh like put you guys on the spot or anything.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: He could have gotten you further in any tournament in the last couple years internationally, but you guys just decide to not to not bring him.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: And uh we had O Rairo put some faith in him, and the guy's an absolute weapon.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Like weapon kind of means something weapon weapon means something different here, but he's he's he's he's playing incredibly well.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Like he's uh absolutely banging goals.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: He scored the for anyone who didn't know uh stream walk has joined OR.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: He played for he's played for Scotland and GB.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: He was at Serbiton last year.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: He's got he's uh he's a goal scorer.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: He was the first man to go to Blumenthal in the away team and score a hat-trick for for many many years.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Is that right, Yup?
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, since 2009 or something, uh it said.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Uh and I think he provided us with multiple stats, uh Ramon Min.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: It's been a while since someone made a hat-trick, and Struan scored a hat trick away at Blumenthal.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: It was also the first time since the start of OR that we won at Blumenau.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: Something you guys uh also um know how that feels.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: Um so yeah?
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: No, Struen is doing really well, but I think all our team is doing really well.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: We have a couple really good Spanish players.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Uh like um, we kind of made a joke, Eintov is the city of expats, like people come in.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: We have seven nationalities in the team right now, so we're like owning uh the the like the like uh the the melting pot we have at Orany Road.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Um and Struan is at uh quite on the top of it uh from uh fucking Scotland, but uh yeah, he's doing well.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean that was gonna that was gonna cement his uh you know statue outside of uh Orangy Road.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: Um but yeah, he he before we go deep diving, I guess I was gonna say we're backed by popular demand.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: I don't know if we are.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: I think we just we just decided to come back on a whim and see how season nine fares for us.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: We are like I said, brought to you by Y1.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: And um the the shameless plug that is, it's it's Black Friday coming.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: Um and as anyone knows who is a Y1 fan, there is as normal, they've produced four prototype sticks that there's gonna go for limited edition.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Um very I've been heavily involved in in some of this and really proud of what they've what they've put out.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: So please watch this space for the end of November coming.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: And actually, how did we go from Struan Walker and Orange Hot to uh to a Y1 plug?
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Uh, because we're brought to you by Y1Youpe.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Um we're all Y1 athletes.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: I think you should get on board with uh what we do here.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: I was actually also going to give Orbs, I don't know if we did this last time, Orbs.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Orbs is also a uh small business owner, Portland Co.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Did you wanna did you want to shout anything out, Orbs?
- 5:21SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, we've just got some new hats in actually.
- 5:24SPEAKER_04: Uh slightly different style, uh some new colours, uh an off-white one, a maroon one.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: They'll be coming very soon, actually.
- 5:32SPEAKER_04: Um so that's exciting.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: And how how would I go about buying a hat from you from you?
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: Oh head to head to our Instagram.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: Uh Shopify link is in the bio.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: And uh you can do if if you know if you want to buy a nice hat, you can look as good as uh our models, you demol, Phil Roper.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: I'm a proud ambassador to be honest.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: I wear I wear very very um uh a lot.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: No, no, the correct word, but I I'm I'm a proud ambassador.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: I have the black one, the blue one, and the white one.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I mean Orbs looked a bit shocked then when I was giving him a uh uh you know a shout out.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: So that is Portland Co.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: Check him out, Instagram.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, have a look.
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: Have a look.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: I guess yeah, we've we've been away a long time.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I didn't just want to dive straight into to OR.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: Sorry, Yup.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Um we missed we missed the Euros.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Um there's been a recent Euro hockey trip, which we'll get a little bit into Euro Hockey League.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Um but yeah, Orbs, I guess I'll come to you first.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: You know, how has your last couple of months of hockey been post-Europeans?
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: We had a disappointing uh sixth place finish at the Europeans and getting back into the season, uh, was that a welcome welcome start to get going on something?
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: How how are you doing?
- 6:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, it's been um yeah, nice to get going, to be honest with you.
- 7:03SPEAKER_04: I I had an interesting well, we had an interesting Euros.
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: I had an even maybe more interesting Euros myself.
- 7:10SPEAKER_04: Um I got need in the head in about game two.
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: Three game two even.
- 7:18SPEAKER_04: So I didn't I didn't I didn't last very long.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, about a game and a half, I played so had to have a bit of time off afterwards.
- 7:29SPEAKER_04: Uh but uh yeah, it was nice nice to be back.
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: Nice to be back with the club boys as well.
- 7:36SPEAKER_04: Um I think uh you know the last few years we've had some new guys come in and uh yeah, we've we always enjoy each other's company if we're not getting the reason even if we're not getting the results we want at the moment.
- 7:46SPEAKER_04: So um yeah, no, it's uh it's been a good start to the season in terms of uh we started really well and then we had the classic EHL hangover.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: Um a few not so good results, but I think I think we found our way the last couple of weeks, um, which has been good.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: So uh yeah, hopefully we can we can keep going on from here.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, I do you you you did decide to get kneed in the head in game two versus Germany in the Europeans.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: I've never seen a man more concussed, more obviously concussed than Orbs back in the hotel that evening, not knowing what was going on.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: It's kind of quite concerning.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: He is normally a bit of a space cadet, but you were a super space cadet.
- 8:29SPEAKER_04: Um and yeah, it was what it was worrying the next day.
- 8:33SPEAKER_04: I woke up and uh the lads were talking about dinner from the night before, and I had no real recollection of being at dinner.
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: But but the lads were kept talking about the burger that I had, and I was like, yeah, not really sure what happened there.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, it wasn't the best time to be honest with you.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: Um but yeah, no, stuff happens.
- 8:57SPEAKER_04: Um but yeah, no, it was uh yeah, it wasn't wasn't my finest tournament, I must admit.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: And you I mean, for people who don't know, you you obviously got a let's just do a very, very quick review.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: You you got a silver medal with with the Netherlands at the Europeans, obviously for someone who's been used to winning a lot recently.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: Um how did you how did you and the team view that one?
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: This seems like interview by base, but it's you know not the worst thing.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: How did you view that as a uh success or a failure or just uh a learning?
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: What a what a deep dive question, Philip.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: Didn't expect that.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: Um it was uh it was not a failure, uh, but we were disappointed.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: So that makes sense.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: Like uh I think we played a better final than we did in the Olympic final uh against the same team.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: We were way better in this final.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: Actually played really, really well.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: Uh, I think had the better spell, the better uh uh like the better uh um how do you say it?
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: We played a better game and we had more chances, but uh it came to shootouts.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: Um and then yeah, it's for this fucking Germany, yeah.
- 10:03SPEAKER_02: Then they they kind of pulled it out.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, we all said it felt shit, but on the other hand, I'd rather win the one a year before than this one, so they can have this one.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's fair enough.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: How on how honourable of you.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's I'm I'm an honourable guy.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm I'm all about growing the game, having more people.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's who I am.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: And you already touched on this, I guess, like the the Euro Hockey League, something to probably cover seeing.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: So me and Orbs are sat here.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Um I I did really annoy you.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Um we went over to the Euro Hockey League, it was in Barcelona.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: I think um I'll put myself on the spot here and say the four teams who qualified through that uh that that tournament were Campo, old Georgians, Campong, and Hamburger Polo, Hamburger Polo and they will go into the quarterfinals with Serbiton, Gantois, Crayfeld and Amsterdam.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: Thank you guys.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Um we were probably the the big upset of the weekend.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we managed to beat Blumadal on a shootout.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: I straight away after the game text you, actually next to Orbs, saying um the Dutch league is a farmers league and we'd win the Hoofklasse, and I spelled Hoofklasse wrong, and instantly he got very annoyed about that, even though clearly I was just happy and having a joke with him, he still decided to have several nibbles even days afterwards, about uh because we have one win.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, you do want to comment on that?
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: No.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: No, I don't not gonna nibble.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: Okay, fair enough.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: Well no, you just you sent you sent a bunch of farmers that got me really uh on the on the closet, and you said uh you'd win the league.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: Um and then I nibbled that you guys said no right winning the game, and blah blah blah blah blah.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: And I nibbled.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: I did to be honest, I did I did not watch a single minute of it, and then I I acted like I did watch it, and I said that you guys had no right winning and whatever, whatever, whatever based on on only speaking to Whatlew.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, it's well done by you, Philip.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: You got me extremely quick on the closet on the closet.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: Not that that's a big accomplishment because it happens all the time, but still well done.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: And Orbs, if we if you to give a lowdown about that game for people who watched it or didn't watch it, how would you how would you describe it?
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: By the way, Orbs um was was uh him and him and Mazzarello were on a on a league above in that game and Orbs uh had the cherry on the icing on the cake by scoring the most audacious shootout where he slap chipped uh Vissa over his shoulder, which was just absolutely beautiful.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: But before we get it wasn't really, really not a shootout though.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: Like I think you were a surpr you surprised yourself even a little bit, eh?
- 13:21SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, no.
- 13:22SPEAKER_04: I've been practicing that one.
- 13:23SPEAKER_04: I've been practicing that one, so it wasn't uh it wasn't a surprise, but it was made slightly easier by the fact that Croft had smashed Visser in the arm about 30 seconds earlier, so he couldn't really move his left arm, so it was a bit of a cheap shot, I guess.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, anyone, anyone, anyone who wants a tactical playbook of how to win a shootout, send your guy who's got the hardest hit to come in on shootout one and absolutely melt the ball at the keeper mid-rift, really hurt him for the rest of the four shootouts.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: It's a solid play.
- 14:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he was just stood as Maz was taking the next shootout, just shaking his arm, trying to get some feeling back in it.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: Um which you never want to see, you know, a guy get hurt, but it did make my shootout slightly easier.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: So um but no, the game, um it was a bit jury.
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: The the tactic of both uh like of all Georgie and Seb, Phil also hit the Jorit Croni in the balls.
- 14:31SPEAKER_04: That was one of the worst bits of hockey I've watched in a long time.
- 14:35SPEAKER_04: Um, but Phil, I think you should uh you should let the viewers know what Jorit said to you after you hit him in the balls because that was priceless.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, again, yeah, I decided to to go against my usual principles of of dribble or or pass it down a left foot, and I thought I'll see the uh see the guy furthest away.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: I'm on the probably on the 25 Euroz in front of me.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: I just decide to absolutely melt the ball as hard as I can, thinking I'm gonna obviously try and hit the guy on the back post.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: He decides to stick his left hand on the ground stupidly, and I somehow nail it so hard into his balls.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: He's on the floor.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: I've got three or four Blumenthal guys going at me.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: I'm literally like, guys, guys, there is no chance in the world that I've meant to cream this guy in the nuts so hard.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm like on over him being like, mate, I'm sorry, you okay?
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Somehow he gets up, he's like trying to be angry, I'm trying to say sorry, and then he's just like his passing comment to me as we run back to the halfway line is good job, I've got a small wiener.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: So I was like fair play that you can still see humour in this moment.
- 15:52SPEAKER_04: I really enjoyed that.
- 15:53SPEAKER_04: I really enjoyed that.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:56SPEAKER_04: Um but yeah, no, the game was poor.
- 16:00SPEAKER_04: It was I thought it was a good game.
- 16:03SPEAKER_04: Um I mean we did quite a lot of defending, but we created a couple of good chances.
- 16:12SPEAKER_04: Um and and Alan took them really well.
- 16:15SPEAKER_04: And then uh we played some some good defense.
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: Um but I think you know, watching it they probably they probably had a bit more control in the game.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: It definitely felt like at times we were just sort of trying to keep them, push them back as much as we could.
- 16:31SPEAKER_04: Um and then you know, once we once we go to shootout, we we thought we had a pretty good chance with Mazzarella in the net.
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: And uh he did his stuff, we managed to score a few.
- 16:44SPEAKER_04: So um yeah, I th I thought it was a good game.
- 16:46SPEAKER_04: I thought we took our chances really well and yeah, but we were set.
- 16:50SPEAKER_04: I thought we were set up well.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I agree.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: I think what was interesting about the game was like maybe the stuff that you can't see if you're watching from the TV, and it's like how to how to grind your way to a win, but also maybe some some uh how would you say like some dark arts of you know like a team trying to upset the groove of these of the Dutch giant and um I would say succeeding on the most part of you know yeah for sure.
- 17:22SPEAKER_04: I think as well that you know they've got some if you look at like their threats, obviously like the the guys in midfield uh all dangerous and then the carrot farmer at right back and managed to keep him quiet and uh that that you know if you nullify those threats then you've got a chance, which you know ultimately we did pretty well at.
- 17:44SPEAKER_04: But um yeah I really enjoyed it.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: It was a it was a good game you've staying quiet, just grinning around.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: Um well I also sometimes want to give you guys the platform to to to celebrate your small wins you get like I I would take our small win I would take it and I'll shove it in my pocket and take it to the next round.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: Like I've not played EHL in years so I can't talk with you guys like it's been so long I don't even know how you spell it like I guess uh well this this is the year, this is the year This is the year where you guys can make it win it.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: No, how much how much are you how much are you saying you're gonna uh you're gonna make EHL next year?
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: You got are you gonna get money where your mouth is?
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: Did you guys ever win EHL though?
- 18:48SPEAKER_04: No, no, no.
- 18:48SPEAKER_04: We come third.
- 18:49SPEAKER_04: That's our best.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: I've I've won it.
- 18:56SPEAKER_04: When was that?
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: 2000 2008, 2009?
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, I was so I was played amazing.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: I was like on the right side of the bench almost the entire game.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: I I I averaged around uh three uh come on boys and six uh towel tosses and shit.
- 19:12SPEAKER_02: Gave uh Robert van Horst his water bottle a couple times really well and like crucial moments, so and played a solid five minutes or six, seven minutes uh each game.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: But I was really good in those minutes.
- 19:24SPEAKER_02: Uh I'll put my money where my mouth is.
- 19:27SPEAKER_02: I think we're gonna you're never 100% sure, but I'm gonna be 99% sure we're gonna play EHL next year.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: For people who don't know, that means coming top three in the Dutch league.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: So there's there's currently like eight teams in the Dutch league who are good, so it's uh it's a fair ask, but currently OR is sitting sitting pretty on top.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Um in two weeks' time we can also be sixth.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: It's like the the difference between number one and the number six is is five points.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: It's uh it's pretty hectic up top.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it will be interesting to watch this space.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: And like we say, we are we are back.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: We're gonna do a few episodes.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: So obviously Yup is gonna give his monologue um at the start of each episode about how OR are doing.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: But I guess that's a little little uh little news segment, I guess, of uh of Let's Stick Together.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: We're gonna be back for in the second part just in one second.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's such a it's such a short, uh, short first part because Phil was terribly late.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: We already started the zoom, and we haven't started late because I think we're sorry for the short first part.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Right, we're back for part two.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: I guess for for we're gonna make a slightly slightly change this season.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Little changes, we're going to do a few segments, choose from which segment we want each week.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: Um, we've got stuff like Orbs's very own cool wall.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: We've got hot take of the week, we've got some badger breakdown, we've got shit'll hit still.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: We might do a bit of stuff from social media, so do chirp check from the social media takes.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: We might have a phone in.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: We're gonna we're gonna play around with it a bit this season.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: We're gonna start off with a bit of a badger breakdown question, which is you and Orbs.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: I would like you to think, as we're getting towards the end of 2025, who is going to be voted for the best player in the world?
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: Now, we talk about this pretty much every year, and we have to take them into account the FIH uh and how they nominate their players.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: But if it were you, who would you be voting for?
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Who would be your top five, top six?
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: So not what we think the FIH will nominate or do you think she deserves it?
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: I think we can do a bit of both.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Well, who who do you do which one do you want to start with?
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: As in men or women, or like we we only do men.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: That's what she said.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: We'll do men because we know that better.
- 22:09SPEAKER_04: You can't set yourself up.
- 22:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's what she said.
- 22:13SPEAKER_04: That's not how it works.
- 22:16SPEAKER_04: But I enjoyed it.
- 22:17SPEAKER_04: Or he said.
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: Do the men.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: Um maybe go with who you think should be nominated first.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: I'll do the men.
- 22:29SPEAKER_03: Okay, sorry.
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: Just leave it out.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: Leave it out there.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: Um, I think, but uh for the listeners, because we're very open here at uh at uh let's stick together.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: We don't hold secrets for you guys.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Me and Phil tried to record an episode last week, but Phil had this stupid idea of doing it on a shitty platform, so we lost all the footage.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: So we actually did speak about it already.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: Uh I won't steal your your pick, um Philip.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: Uh I think Tom Bone is going to be nominated, and I think deserves uh like at least a nomination.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: Had a really good year, scored a shitload of goals.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: Um and yeah, they ended, I don't know how, like second in the Pro League or something, so I think that counts for something.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: Um but he had a really good year.
- 23:15SPEAKER_02: Um we we we were talking about like a German guy because they became European champions.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: And we ended up like I think like a T-Sprince might get it, like not win it, but like might get a nomination.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: Because he's been pretty vital to that German squad.
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: Um who else did you like a Dutch guy has to be honest, has to be nominated again at second at the Euros first in the polygon yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, before I jump jump in, I think it'd be good to hear from what Orbes thinks if he has any hot takes about you know one or two guys that would be that would be on the top of his list.
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: Um I actually had when you asked, I had uh Tom Bowen in my head.
- 23:57SPEAKER_04: I don't I don't think you can score that many goals and not be um not be thought about.
- 24:05SPEAKER_04: And like a lot and lots of different goals as well.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: Like obviously he scored a few corners, but like playing against him this year, he you know he just felt like he could score from anywhere, so uh he would probably be but it's difficult because uh I think you as Yup says like often it's gotta be if your team does well then I think you have a a better chance.
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: Um it's a weird one as well because how do you feel about the drag flickers being being given a chance?
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: They should know how to play hooky if they want to get nominated.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I personally it's not a most valuable player, it's best player.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: So like the if there was a category for most valuable, you'd most likely be putting in goalies and and uh and and drag flickers.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: So I I would go for we should have more, you know, there should be more ways of winning.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: It shouldn't just be best player, there should be like a a clutch player, a most valuable player, you know, like a most improved.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: Be cool to actually you know do the awards properly if you're listening FIH.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: But I um yeah, I was I was going along the lines of if if the Dutch I agree with you Orbes like and and what you said, if if you're gonna do it, it's normally down to success of the team.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: So then you've got like to look at Holland who won the Pro League and second in Europeans, you've got to look at Germany who won the Europeans, you've got to look at I mean Argentina won their their Pan America games, India won their Asia games, Australia obviously beat New Zealand, so you're probably looking at teams within that.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Um I think that I I'd love to see like a Derek Devilder get nominated.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: I think he's he's uh he's an incredible player, and and I think he constantly like plays really really amazing hockey for people who fully understand hockey, and you watch him play, you watch his movement, you watch how he gives the ball the right time, you watch how he like uh leads, I think he's he's got a bit of a full package over the last couple of years, but he he's not a highlight reel, he doesn't often whack the ball in the top corner, yeah.
- 26:22SPEAKER_04: And I think as well, like that's where the people that we think might get nominated are different to who we might nominate.
- 26:30SPEAKER_04: Because if you look at like a highlight reel player, not saying I think he's a very good player and unbelievably skillful, but like Middendorp is everywhere on social media at the moment, and rightfully so, because some of his skills are unbelievable.
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: But you know, Devilde, as you say, is more probably likely to hurt you in a game sense rather than in moments.
- 26:55SPEAKER_04: Um but I actually think Middendorp might get might get a nomination.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um I think so too.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: I think he's gonna get nominated also because he did have his last left pro Euros he what he and he did to be fair in thinking pro league, especially in Euros a little less, but he was not only highlights, but it also lead uh led led to something.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: Is that correct, English?
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: So I also think like can you nominate, but I don't know how much because club hockey doesn't interfere with anything, but like Domaina, I was also at Argentina, who kind of rose up a little bit again.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: I think they ended fourth or third or something, and that they did quite well.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: So if he might be nominated, and Hog, we cannot forget there must be an Indian guy nominated, which is like a like golden rule at the FIH uh awards.
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: So we actually said me and um me and Phil actually spoke about we check.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: You might get the nomination.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: He was the player.
- 28:03SPEAKER_04: We had this argument, didn't we, Phil?
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, we did have this argument.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Me and me and Orbs had a really, really random argument a few a couple of months ago about who's better Sukjeet or Abishek from the Indian national team.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: I had my all of my money on Abishek and Orbs had all of his money on on Sukji, and we went around people in our team, and I think I came out fairly on top.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you did.
- 28:26SPEAKER_04: Because all of our teams are clueless.
- 28:31SPEAKER_02: I'm team Sukjeet because Sukje is more a man of the people, and he's more my type.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: He's like uh he's actually like the guy who's sitting who's sitting next to me on the on the bed, Time Ring.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: It's it's he what he does is either incredibly impressive and like the coolest thing you ever see, or it's incredibly shit.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: And there's no real way between.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: Do you do you agree?
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: I agree.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: And that was a guest appearance by Time Ryan.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: No one else can.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they can do shit no one else can do.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: So I'm not you spend it until you spend it.
- 29:13SPEAKER_04: I'm glad you agree with the subject.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, mine and you's last week went to Abershek.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: And um so so you're probably gonna get overruled here, Orbs, but you know, I think your your your point is is is excellent, Yupe.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: We also did say about we'd like Tom Craig's had an incredible year and he's still utterly like crazy to watch and terrifying to play against because of the pace and the some of his even his his assists this year, his uh his finishing this year has been unbelievable.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: Um but can he get a nomination post cocaine gate?
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 29:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, of course he can.
- 29:53SPEAKER_04: Well doesn't matter how you get there.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: The boy is flying.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: We're also so fucking uh uh sport votes, so fucking uptight.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: Who is let the men have some fun after a shitty Olympics?
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're all fine.
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: We've all we've all given him our blessing here at Let's Tick Together.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: But yeah, but I'm saying FIH might not give him their blessing.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: FIH needs to stop being a bitch and just just give it to whoever deserves it.
- 30:35SPEAKER_02: Give the man some credit.
- 30:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and if you were he doesn't love a comeback story.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: So we've kind of we've kind of come down to how many we got Tom Boone, uh Tom Craig, Tom Craig, Flores Middendorp, I don't know, Abishek, Abishek, Domine.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: My my take was Derek DeVilde, but he's not going to get nominated.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: Uh any more that you think should or shouldn't sports T Sprints, yeah.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: Maybe uh Theo Hendricks, I think he's also in the mix there, if we're talking about a German guy.
- 31:13SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 31:14SPEAKER_04: I think he's a very good player.
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: I'm not sure he's been I'm not sure he's had the year that he maybe has had in the past.
- 31:22SPEAKER_04: I'm just making a making a uh a take on what the FIH will do, not necessarily what yeah, although actually, you know what they should do is just throw it all out the window, match Granbush, won the Europeans, and then he retired and just give it to him, let him finish off a great yeah.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, how do you feel about that?
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: You agree.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: Okay, nice.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Well I agree because I like the guy, he's always very nice.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's let's just give it to him.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Matt, if you're listening, I'm sure you are.
- 32:07SPEAKER_03: We know you're a big fan, no works.
- 32:09SPEAKER_04: We'll give it to you.
- 32:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and we'll send you out a uh a Y1 Black Friday stick.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Oh great shout, yeah.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, now you've retired, you don't have to worry about any sponsor.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: We'll send you a Black Friday stick.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: I made a I made a mold.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Um we'll talk about it more in a couple of weeks.
- 32:27SPEAKER_04: But hang on, actually, we could send him a you the mold stick.
- 32:31SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, with blood with blood in it.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: I reckon he can.
- 32:33SPEAKER_04: I think there's there's there's a few of those still kicking around, apparently, still for sale.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: So well them limited them limited.
- 32:42SPEAKER_02: Only five were sold, and uh they were all five were bought by my mum, so like there was only life I've left.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: So maybe one to orbs.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: Orbs orbs was asking me at one point if you got a Yup Demol stick, and I was like, you don't want one, mate.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Leave it.
- 32:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I wanted one.
- 33:01SPEAKER_04: I actually wanted one.
- 33:06SPEAKER_04: I wanted one until they they they they showed me, and it's it goes the wrong way, mate.
- 33:11SPEAKER_04: It's it doesn't bend the normal way, it bends backwards, it's so straight.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: Like me.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Well, to comprehensively finish our uh badger breakdown, they are who we think is gonna get nominated for the men's world player of the year.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: If we're right, it'd be unbelievable and we we deserve a big pat on the back, but I'm guessing we're gonna be terribly wrong.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: So, you know, it was good fun as we as we went through it anyway.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: Um, Orbs, I'm gonna pass you over because we haven't been in the coop in ages.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: I don't think I don't know if the coop's still alive, but we're gonna do the cool wall.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: Um youp, maybe you can do some homework for next week, bring the coop back, but we'll see.
- 33:57SPEAKER_01: The cool wall's coming.
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: You you assume I don't have a coop, uh Philip.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: Why why why why don't I have a cooper?
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: Because you're fucking useless.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: But we are not gonna get into that.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: We'll just get on to into the cool wall.
- 34:14SPEAKER_04: Fair enough.
- 34:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I brought um I brought a few new things uh to the cool wall.
- 34:24SPEAKER_04: The first one, um, which you're gonna have to look at on Instagram.
- 34:30SPEAKER_04: Sorry for those of you that don't have Instagram, but you pine know you do, and Phil.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: Um and it's a kit.
- 34:38SPEAKER_02: If you don't have Instagram by now, you're a fucking retard.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: Uh it's a kit of a national team.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: Uh so a friend of mine recently made his debut.
- 34:52SPEAKER_04: Uh shout out Mackie for the Bermuda national hockey team.
- 34:57SPEAKER_04: And their Instagram is Pink Sticks441.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: And if you go on their Instagram handle, you can see their home and away kits.
- 35:09SPEAKER_04: Uh the home kit, I think, is the pink one with the blue accents, and then the away one is the the the raw the sort of the navy blue with the pink accents.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: And when he recently made his debut, sent sent me photos of the kit.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's the one.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: That's the one.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: I think I pressed I ended up at the wrong thing, Sticks.
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: There gave some graphic content my way.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: But I'm I'm there now.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, that's that's that's that's cool.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: Like if you're playing for the Bermuda hockey team and you've got sick pink added ass kit, um I'm all in.
- 35:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm all in as well.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: Um, but I wanted to highlight let's let's also I want to play the devil's advocate here.
- 36:03SPEAKER_03: Um if you live in Bermuda and you're you're in Bermuda.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: Well I have to go play hockey.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: There's so much cooler and better things than playing hockey.
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: Like I like Burger, I love the jersey.
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: Well, why hockey?
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: You had so many cool things to choose from, and you choose hockey.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: I think I think they play hockey in their spare time and they spend the most of their time on the golf courses.
- 36:27SPEAKER_04: From what I believe.
- 36:32SPEAKER_04: But yeah, but as a side hobby, I think fair play and very cool kit.
- 36:37SPEAKER_04: So I wanted to highlight that.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: Um very cool.
- 36:41SPEAKER_04: Very, very cool, and hope hopefully they they get a few more wins.
- 36:45SPEAKER_04: They had a qualifying tournament, they did quite well.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, great kit.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: That is also like a that's like a collector's item as well.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: There's not many hockey players out there that wouldn't love a Bermuda hockey kit.
- 36:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:01SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 37:02SPEAKER_04: That is true.
- 37:03SPEAKER_04: And my friend now is really happy because he's now on the uh you know like the data hub.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: The data hub, not the FIH data hub.
- 37:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:12SPEAKER_04: He now he now features on the FIH data hub with some caps.
- 37:16SPEAKER_04: So he's delighted.
- 37:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, great kit.
- 37:19SPEAKER_04: Great kit.
- 37:20SPEAKER_04: Shout out to them.
- 37:22SPEAKER_04: Uh next on the um on the call, I don't this is a bit of a a niche one, but uh for pretty much every team in the world, or for a lot of teams in the world, international teams, they wear their team kit around the hotel whilst they're away.
- 37:43SPEAKER_04: And I want to know is if that is cool or uncool or seriously uncool or very cool.
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: Let me know your thoughts.
- 37:56SPEAKER_02: I have an opinion about it, and uh, and I'm we are we are one of those teams guilty of it, to be honest.
- 38:02SPEAKER_02: I think it's seriously, seriously uncool.
- 38:06SPEAKER_02: We we we came to the point of of everyone having to wear just a white top, that didn't matter like what, but just wear a white top.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: So it it's I I I hate that we have to wear sometimes the the training shit in in the hotel.
- 38:20SPEAKER_02: Just like it's not cheap, it's a very synthetic uh fiber, just a shit wear.
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: Not that you're in a hot country or like a very uh um your humidity is very high.
- 38:32SPEAKER_02: So it's it's uh it's uncool and both uncool and completely dog shit.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like it's like team culture gone mad.
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: It's like you should wear your kit when you go training, you should wear your kit when you need to wear your kit, but you don't need to wear your kit around the hotel.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: No one is looking at you, and no one wants to look at you.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: Like it's uh it's uncool and yeah, ridiculous.
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: Like people who think that that's like some kind of culture piece where like wearing your kit means something around a hotel, it's it's nuts, and yeah, so I'm I'm all out on it as well.
- 39:09SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 39:10SPEAKER_04: I agree.
- 39:12SPEAKER_04: But there's still a lot of teams out there that are doing that, so I just wanted to uh bring that to everyone's attention.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, stop do that's basically you saying stop doing it.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: Come on.
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: No, it's not me saying that, it's not me saying that.
- 39:27SPEAKER_02: It's um it's me wishing that.
- 39:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:31SPEAKER_04: I'm just trying to have my say.
- 39:34SPEAKER_04: Um this was one, you might uh you might get to hopefully witness this in the next couple of years.
- 39:44SPEAKER_04: Hopefully this might be your year.
- 39:46SPEAKER_04: Before games at the EHL at the Euro Hockey League, the two teams walk out, stand either side of the umpires like you normally would before you shake hands, and then they play the EHL anthem.
- 40:03SPEAKER_04: Normally in the international games, we play the we play each other's national anthems.
- 40:07SPEAKER_04: You sing your national anthem.
- 40:09SPEAKER_04: Obviously, no club has their own national anthem.
- 40:11SPEAKER_04: You get out there and you just stand and listen to the EHL anthem.
- 40:17SPEAKER_04: Is that cool or not?
- 40:22SPEAKER_02: I think what's what's um uh under cool, like downwards of cool.
- 40:28SPEAKER_04: I think we had in the bin.
- 40:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's very very, very, very, very uncool.
- 40:35SPEAKER_01: Because that's also yeah, and to add to that is that like the EHL old anthem, you know, like the first one they did was actually like it was like it was like it meant something.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: You heard that anthem and you were like, Oh, we're at the EHL.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: Now they've changed it and they do this new anthem, and the new anthem's also shit.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: So even if you know that was it was mildly acceptable back then because it was actually a decent anthem.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: Now they've tried to you know renew it, it's terrible, and no one knows why they're stood there.
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I'm uh you know, we're all just agreeing.
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: It'd be better if we had an argument about it, but you're bringing up relevant ones that aren't uncool.
- 41:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't I wouldn't I want the jury to be a bit more out, but I I have to agree with you on that one.
- 41:22SPEAKER_04: But it annoys me because when they do it for the Champions League in football, I actually think that's cool.
- 41:30SPEAKER_04: So it's just the song that we don't like.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe improve the songs.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's improve the song.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: Okay, I I have uh I have two more.
- 41:42SPEAKER_04: Um although one of them I'm really hoping I didn't bring up last time, but I don't think I did.
- 41:48SPEAKER_04: I think it is a new one.
- 41:50SPEAKER_04: Uh captains who wear the armband around their shin pad.
- 41:59SPEAKER_04: As opposed to their arm.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: Now you pass to do this just because his arm isn't big enough.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: So we let him off because he wears it round his leg, but that's just because he struggles, you know, with the beam poleness.
- 42:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he'd have to tap he'd have to tape it to his arm otherwise.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: So if you only if you choose to put it on your leg, I think we should just change that because you know.
- 42:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, slight caveat.
- 42:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: Did you set this up together to like discuss this right?
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: It sounds like we did, but that was purely natural.
- 42:37SPEAKER_02: Well done to the both of you.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: Good, good.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: I'm not I'm not gonna nibble.
- 42:43SPEAKER_02: Although I really want to nibble.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: I don't actually know though.
- 42:47SPEAKER_01: Where do you where do you wear yours, you put yours on your arm or your leg?
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: I actually don't know.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: Because you're the captain at OR, aren't you?
- 42:59SPEAKER_03: Phil, you do know this.
- 43:00SPEAKER_02: I I have I have a I have uh junior style uh arm as I can spend uh for 12 year olds and I put it around my arm.
- 43:14SPEAKER_03: So where is it?
- 43:14SPEAKER_03: Where are you putting it around?
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: I mean Diamond next to me is completely losing his shit because he thinks this is too funny.
- 43:20SPEAKER_03: Like fuck both of you.
- 43:25SPEAKER_04: Oh glad we could be of service.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: We've got we've got one new fan today, and it's a big one.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: Anyway, sorry, you go on, chime in on what you think.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: I think it's uh I think it's uh Yeah, why do I go from here, right?
- 43:51SPEAKER_02: Like what what what what should I say?
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: I have no clue.
- 43:54SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's cool.
- 43:55SPEAKER_02: Don't think it's cool.
- 43:55SPEAKER_02: I think the Aussies sometimes do it.
- 43:58SPEAKER_02: Uh put it around their Do you know what I have decent sized arms?
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: They're not big, but they're not small.
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: Like, come on.
- 44:08SPEAKER_03: I think.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: If me and Phil were we're having a fight, who do you think would win?
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Sorry, just as a sidebar, do you know what just made me think?
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: You know why you know what?
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: You know why you love Struan Walker so much?
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: Is because he hit you and him are like the same.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: It's like you I can imagine you now in the OR change room, you go around, you flex your muscles, and it's just all like he honestly almost like religiously in the gym, he's like pulling his top up, he's saying, Oh, I've got a bit, I've got a bigger chest now.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: I'm in the I'm in the gym.
- 44:44SPEAKER_01: I absolutely love him for it, but you are the exact same.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Am I right or wrong?
- 44:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's true.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: That's completely true.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: But I do I I do grow a lot right last couple months.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: I've gone massive.
- 45:06SPEAKER_02: I'll send you I'll send you some pictures in your DM, Philip.
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: I'll show you show you my muscles and my clock while I'm at it.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: It's still so unbelievably enjoyable when you just have to say one little thing and he's gone.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: You wanna do the last one and then we can decide who'd win a fight between me and you.
- 45:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:27SPEAKER_04: Although I'd like to know where you actually think it is.
- 45:32SPEAKER_04: We didn't really get to where it is on the scale, the armband on the on the on the shin pad.
- 45:37SPEAKER_02: The armband on the shin pad is gotta be honest, it's with with some Aussies, it looks kinda decent.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: You see, I disagree completely.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: I think they're all trying to do it just because they're like Aussies just love to try and do the opposite of what everyone else does, and I think they're just trying too hard.
- 45:59SPEAKER_02: That's because you you just hate Aussies a lot, Philip, because they're um I don't know why, it's just a very like almost racist kind of thing.
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: Everything the Aussies do you don't like.
- 46:10SPEAKER_00: No, that's not true.
- 46:11SPEAKER_02: I don't like it anymore.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: I like Jeremy for my Aussie Mike down under I like Jeremy Haywood now.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: He was my friend for six weeks.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: Hopefully we're still friends.
- 46:27SPEAKER_04: Anyway.
- 46:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm sure he'll reach out after listening to this episode.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: I hope so.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 46:32SPEAKER_04: Fine.
- 46:33SPEAKER_04: Last one.
- 46:34SPEAKER_04: Again.
- 46:35SPEAKER_04: Just to be clear on this.
- 46:37SPEAKER_04: It's not whether they're useful or not.
- 46:40SPEAKER_04: Whether they are cool.
- 46:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's cool.
- 46:44SPEAKER_04: Foot protectors.
- 46:50SPEAKER_04: They're like just uh you know, just the ones that go over your feet stop the the corner runners wear them.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: We we know we all know what the we all know what the answer is here, don't we?
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: Like it's like it's like it's like if we're saying about the coolness, it's like they they need to go in the bin.
- 47:11SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 47:12SPEAKER_04: I think there are a lot of a lot of kids that out there that think they're really cool and want them themselves.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Because that's a worrying thing for hockey worrying thing for hockey when people want to be number one runners.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: Like that's that's that's not what you envisage when you're like when you're growing up like dribbling past six people and screwing it in the roof.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: It's not like running down a running down a great line.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: It's terrible, terribly worrying.
- 47:40SPEAKER_02: Just the way of the world.
- 47:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I think they they don't look if we're looking at purely cool, we're not looking at useful, at practical, at like whether they're whether you have to wear them or not.
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: Purely cool.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's cool.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: Um, but it's it's yeah, it is necessary.
- 47:58SPEAKER_02: But I think it would go not like they're not like super uncool, but they're uncool.
- 48:02SPEAKER_02: They're like you do think oh, he's a bit of a wanker with his shit on his foot.
- 48:07SPEAKER_02: And I'm I'm one of those wankers with shit on my foot.
- 48:12SPEAKER_02: And as I said, if kids actually want to wear that shit, kids are fucking idiots.
- 48:16SPEAKER_02: They don't they they don't know anything, so that we don't shouldn't base whether something is cool or not on what kids think.
- 48:22SPEAKER_03: They're clueless.
- 48:25SPEAKER_02: Okay, so we're just gonna put them in meh.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: Just put them in the bin.
- 48:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's no, not the bin.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: Not the bin.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: They're like they're no the yeah, meh, fine.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: Is that in between cool and uncool?
- 48:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: I'd like you to send a send a scale up with yeah, I'm gonna build I think I'm gonna build a board.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and we can post it and then we can actually use that as a reference point.
- 48:52SPEAKER_04: I really want I really want the listeners to start emailing in with their cool or uncool things, and then we can decide where they go.
- 49:03SPEAKER_04: But just initially I'll just put them to you.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, don't email in because you've given 72,000 fake email addresses over the past nine seasons.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: So DM us.
- 49:13SPEAKER_04: Sorry, just DM DMs.
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: Because imagine how many are in the in the you can send you can send Phil a text.
- 49:21SPEAKER_02: I'll send I'll give wait.
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: It's plus forty-four seven nine one five.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, you just you just you just got muted.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: Sorry, oop.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: No worries, I'll do it again.
- 49:39SPEAKER_03: Plus forty.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: I just sort of weird thing happens when you try and give my number out to everyone.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: This is this is a pretty this is a pretty good pretty good uh stopping point as episode one of Let's Tick Together.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: Um we thank you, James, for for joining us.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: Um hoping this will be a regular thing.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: Brendan did message out of the blue to me randomly and said, if I can make an episode, can I?
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: And I I obviously said no straight away.
- 50:15SPEAKER_02: So no, you decided to jump ship.
- 50:20SPEAKER_02: We we burn every bridge behind us.
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: Orbs, just so you know, that's coming for you as well.
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: If you jump ship, we're done with you.
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: Let me just jump to that other well-known hockey podcast from the UK.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: But uh oh, we did get shouted out by uh by uh by the by the top of the D, or what's it called?
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: No, it's yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:45SPEAKER_02: Top of the D shootout from all the way from Australia from sa from uh Orchard.
- 50:52SPEAKER_02: He did call us out.
- 50:53SPEAKER_02: He said that uh six-seven episodes is not a season, and that uh we're not a real hockey podcast.
- 50:59SPEAKER_02: Um I um I oh let's let's just say uh he's the only Aussie welcome on the pod, because Phil hates Aussies, but you're more than welcome to join the podcast uh and talk to our face.
- 51:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, fuck you up if you have not.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's start a rivalry.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: But I mean, if if if his only problem with us is that our our seasons are too short, I think we're doing something right.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: But anyway, yeah, we're a big fan, so thank you for calling us out.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: The top of the D did also shout us out.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: You got that wrong, but there is also a platform called Top of the D, Rossbone.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: He's uh he's a he's a fan of the pod.
