- 1:53Speaker 2: I've worked here for three and a half years.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Black History Month matters to me, and it matters to
- 2:00Speaker 3: the work at the Anisonce Project because black history has
- 2:04Speaker 3: made up a significant and painful part of our criminal
- 2:10Speaker 3: justice system, and given the history of lynchings and unfair
- 2:16Speaker 3: treatment of black people over the last three centuries, we
- 2:23Speaker 3: have a special need and a special connection to injustice
- 2:27Speaker 3: when it comes to race in the United States. I
- 2:31Speaker 3: particularly kind of moved and pained, even now.
- 2:37Speaker 2: One hundred years after the.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Fact, by the case of a man named Claude Neil,
- 2:41Speaker 3: who was the last what they call the spectacle lynching
- 2:45Speaker 3: in Florida. And when people talk about respective lynchings, it
- 2:51Speaker 3: is the killing of a black person who is usually
- 2:54Speaker 3: wrongfully accused or not even given the chance to have
- 2:58Speaker 3: due process the law by a mob of white people,
- 3:02Speaker 3: and in that killing.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Basic Black after Dark an all new podcast show with
- 3:12Speaker 1: your host Black Diamond.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Hello, Hello, Hello, and thank you for tuning in to
- 4:05Speaker 2: Basic Black After Dog, a subsidiary of the Crewe podcast Network.
- 4:11Speaker 2: And you are listening to and tuned into my show.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I am the host of the show. I am Black Diamond.
- 4:18Speaker 2: This is the show that meets people with they are
- 4:21Speaker 2: and giving them what they ask for. But tonight I
- 4:24Speaker 2: am going to be a little selfish. I am giving
- 4:27Speaker 2: myself what I've asked for for twenty seven years. I
- 4:33Speaker 2: have the opportunity to sit here and talk to one
- 4:36Speaker 2: of my big brothers who have been away from me
- 4:39Speaker 2: much too long. Yes, he has been incarcerated, and he's
- 4:43Speaker 2: been incarcerated for twenty seven years, but he served the
- 4:47Speaker 2: time that they gave him and now he is home
- 4:50Speaker 2: with me. So I just ask you, guys up front,
- 4:54Speaker 2: thank you so much. Jeanette. I'm so happy for you
- 4:57Speaker 2: and your family. Thank you. I am just so overs.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I don't think that this is as much as I've
- 5:02Speaker 2: smiled since I've been on the air, and you might
- 5:06Speaker 2: see some tears tonight, but forgive me. I'm gonna tell
- 5:08Speaker 2: you if you don't understand some of the words, it's
- 5:10Speaker 2: because I just don't know what else to say. So
- 5:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna introduce my brother. People say we look alike, Hey,
- 5:18Speaker 2: we're twins and boy or boy. If you guys have
- 5:20Speaker 2: known us years ago, we used to get into trouble.
- 5:27Speaker 2: This is the guy that I told everybody about and
- 5:30Speaker 2: I speak to him. We spoke for every every day
- 5:34Speaker 2: for the past twenty seven years, and it just doesn't
- 5:38Speaker 2: seem like a drill. He came through the door and
- 5:41Speaker 2: I just looked at him, and at that moment, I
- 5:43Speaker 2: didn't have tears because I said to myself, we speak
- 5:46Speaker 2: every day. It's like he was coming from the state
- 5:49Speaker 2: that we were born and raised in New York and
- 5:51Speaker 2: here we are here and he's in the state, in
- 5:53Speaker 2: the DMV area, and he's just coming for a visit.
- 5:58Speaker 2: But then at first hid it's all kids. I'm trying
- 6:02Speaker 2: to hold it in, but I couldn't. I couldn't. And
- 6:05Speaker 2: you you have to have a brother like this to understand,
- 6:09Speaker 2: and brothers like I have in order to understand the
- 6:12Speaker 2: relationship and what he means to me. I know for
- 6:17Speaker 2: his children it means so much. But we do have
- 6:20Speaker 2: a call in number that you can call in and
- 6:22Speaker 2: speak to him and for those who know him and
- 6:25Speaker 2: for those who just want to say congratulations and the
- 6:27Speaker 2: happy force which I've been getting so far from my
- 6:31Speaker 2: podcast sisters, and I thank you Gods so much. Here
- 6:36Speaker 2: here is my brother Kim. They know him. Also, Hey
- 6:39Speaker 2: what about me, that's my brother Troy. You know twenty
- 6:43Speaker 2: seven years. But we've been doing life together and I
- 6:46Speaker 2: love all of you, and I first and foremost want
- 6:49Speaker 2: to apologize to one of my brothers because I was
- 6:51Speaker 2: a little mean to him when he came to visit
- 6:53Speaker 2: me one day and I said something that I should
- 6:56Speaker 2: not have said. And I do want to tell him
- 6:59Speaker 2: and my brother that I do love you. I do.
- 7:03Speaker 2: It's just that I was going through something and we
- 7:05Speaker 2: all have those days that we go through something. When
- 7:07Speaker 2: I'm going to see him again in person and apologize
- 7:10Speaker 2: for the way that I behaved. He was in my
- 7:12Speaker 2: home and I didn't show gracious to that and that's
- 7:17Speaker 2: not what I should have done, and I apologize. That's
- 7:20Speaker 2: not the way that you should behave when you have
- 7:22Speaker 2: guests in your home, and that's not the way I
- 7:24Speaker 2: should behave to him. They are all my older brothers
- 7:28Speaker 2: and I should have known better. So I do have
- 7:31Speaker 2: an apology coming to him, and you too, Troy. I
- 7:35Speaker 2: apologize because you were there and you were one of
- 7:37Speaker 2: the ones that I was talking to as well. So
- 7:39Speaker 2: I do apologize, and I hope that you guys can
- 7:43Speaker 2: accept that. And this right here is one of the
- 7:49Speaker 2: jokesters in the family who to know him. You really
- 7:54Speaker 2: have to love him, you really do. You spent so
- 7:57Speaker 2: many years away and I don't even know where to
- 8:01Speaker 2: begin to say how much I missed you and that
- 8:05Speaker 2: you were just the rock for me. He was dead
- 8:09Speaker 2: when I gave birth to all of my children and
- 8:14Speaker 2: just was so supportive when I went back to school
- 8:16Speaker 2: by watching them and keeping them while I study. And
- 8:20Speaker 2: it was just everything from me sitting up late at
- 8:24Speaker 2: night to you fixing them breakfast in the morning, to
- 8:28Speaker 2: me going to get them and you keeping them for
- 8:31Speaker 2: me while I just went through everything, even when I
- 8:33Speaker 2: was in labor and I was having one child and
- 8:35Speaker 2: you was dead at home with the other. But one
- 8:37Speaker 2: of the days I won't forget is my first child
- 8:40Speaker 2: that I had, I had a C section and he
- 8:43Speaker 2: comes up to the hospital and he starts cracking jokes,
- 8:46Speaker 2: and when you are all stinks up your belly don't
- 8:50Speaker 2: want to move to last. So we had to ask
- 8:52Speaker 2: security to get them out of it. Me and the
- 8:54Speaker 2: other women that was in it that went through the
- 8:55Speaker 2: same thing, And that was to me, I could just
- 8:58Speaker 2: look at that as it was yesterday. But those days
- 9:02Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say, are going. They're still etched in
- 9:05Speaker 2: right here. I don't forget any of the time that
- 9:09Speaker 2: we shared together. My producers saying that she can't wait
- 9:13Speaker 2: to meet you, and I can't wait for you guys
- 9:15Speaker 2: to meet I wait to meet you too. And she's
- 9:18Speaker 2: my other daughter, my bonus daughter. I don't even like
- 9:21Speaker 2: saying bonus. She's my daughter as well. It's just that
- 9:25Speaker 2: so much has changed, and some of the course I
- 9:28Speaker 2: know that that I know I've changed a lot. My
- 9:35Speaker 2: children are not babies anymore. His children are not babies anymore.
- 9:40Speaker 2: And it's just what does it seeing and feel like
- 9:45Speaker 2: just seeing them now that.
- 9:46Speaker 6: When you went away there was still packaging and now
- 9:49Speaker 6: they're not. They're just still strange. I'm still trying to
- 9:51Speaker 6: feel it my way through. It's gonna be a minute.
- 9:55Speaker 6: You don't take me a longer and long, Jerney to
- 9:57Speaker 6: go to my family feel real good right now when
- 10:02Speaker 6: we're here to make sure that you get through. We
- 10:04Speaker 6: know things have changed.
- 10:07Speaker 2: One of the biggest things that I couldn't wait to
- 10:09Speaker 2: see was you coming through the door and seeing our mother. Yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 2: you guys know my mother, she's been on here again.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I'm going to brag about it. She's going to be
- 10:21Speaker 2: one hundred next year. And he is home to celebrate
- 10:24Speaker 2: her birthday, and they're saying, take your time, we got you.
- 10:29Speaker 2: It's just I appreciate that it has been such a transition.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I feel like I transitioned as well. I've said several
- 10:38Speaker 2: times when you were inside, you were doing twenty seven years,
- 10:41Speaker 2: and then I was doing twenty seven years out here.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Because it's rough out here. It's rough.
- 10:45Speaker 7: I'm gonna take it one day at a time.
- 10:48Speaker 2: So what is one of the things that you was
- 10:51Speaker 2: looking forward to besides your family, besides us, you know, coming.
- 10:55Speaker 8: Home, cooking dinner for my mother did this morning after
- 11:00Speaker 8: this morning this morning, scrambled eggs, sausages, biscuits, panky, I'll
- 11:05Speaker 8: get easy to pack it.
- 11:06Speaker 7: But I forgot a panty rits. Yeah, I'm cooking. The
- 11:11Speaker 7: stove messed me up. Mine. I'm back.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Now. There's a pot that we had that my grandmother
- 11:17Speaker 2: had that he always said that he wanted to stay
- 11:21Speaker 2: with him. I uh, I have that pot. He's not
- 11:26Speaker 2: getting anything anything. So you must remember, Betwese, I said,
- 11:33Speaker 2: this is the brother hot dog.
- 11:34Speaker 7: Change my food, you'll love it. They might love to cook.
- 11:37Speaker 2: You can. He can cook.
- 11:39Speaker 7: I give what you remember the cooking in twice seven years.
- 11:41Speaker 2: You can cook now. I dabble in the kitchen. But
- 11:44Speaker 2: I don't cook, not like he doing, not like other
- 11:47Speaker 2: members of my family. I just I didn't have to cook.
- 11:50Speaker 2: They cooked, you know, so yes you can. Well I cooked.
- 11:56Speaker 2: The meal was like Thanksgiving and stuff like that. But
- 11:58Speaker 2: after that, I'm done. I just don't you know things
- 12:01Speaker 2: have changed that I noticed I lost one of the
- 12:06Speaker 2: things that I work, a cell phone. Well that's one
- 12:09Speaker 2: of the things. I was gonna say what he had.
- 12:13Speaker 2: He had somebody calling in. Now I'm gonna take this car.
- 12:15Speaker 7: I'm still beeper.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Hi Catt see black after dark. Hello, we got a
- 12:26Speaker 2: Misscorb with the just please call back, please call back.
- 12:29Speaker 2: We I was saying that we he had these phones
- 12:32Speaker 2: at the time that he went in, and one of
- 12:35Speaker 2: those big, big cell phones that we used to carry
- 12:38Speaker 2: around like they had with what Eddie Murphy and them
- 12:42Speaker 2: they had had. So this is what we had back
- 12:44Speaker 2: then when he can remember. But now he's sitting there
- 12:47Speaker 2: rocking with two cell phones and I only have one.
- 12:50Speaker 2: He has one. But she said, what is the biggest
- 12:52Speaker 2: change to you?
- 12:54Speaker 7: That's a good one. Uh, it's not no longer my family, right,
- 13:04Speaker 7: m you're still trying to try and fill my family.
- 13:08Speaker 7: I don't they all seem they changed to me.
- 13:12Speaker 2: One thing I can say is that he does seem
- 13:14Speaker 2: to be the same.
- 13:15Speaker 7: I'm the same, But everybody James changed. They's still fairy.
- 13:21Speaker 7: I just started doing the same as like before. Who
- 13:25Speaker 7: I left.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Well, one of the things that I hope that has
- 13:28Speaker 2: changed with him is his driving. This brother, I'm gonna
- 13:33Speaker 2: tell you, and I'm gonna save in front of him.
- 13:35Speaker 2: We were on our way to the Bronx to go
- 13:38Speaker 2: visit my aunt and I told him that I would drive,
- 13:40Speaker 2: and he said, no, I'm gonna drive. I've been driving
- 13:44Speaker 2: before we were born. Now, mind you, he's only forty
- 13:46Speaker 2: years older than me. Right, I'll get back to that.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Still mean basically black dark caller? Hi, how are you
- 14:01Speaker 2: all right? Give us your name? Bedly Lewis is on
- 14:07Speaker 2: the phone.
- 14:08Speaker 7: Okay, how you doing, Carol? I'm doing pretty good right now.
- 14:25Speaker 7: It's good to hear your boys too. Hope to see
- 14:27Speaker 7: you soon. How did you feel when you finally walked
- 14:32Speaker 7: out of those gates. I felt wonderful. This is felt
- 14:40Speaker 7: I felt wonderful shiting Johnson.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I feel well, Carol. We're reading some of the.
- 14:44Speaker 7: It was a long time, and it was a long
- 14:46Speaker 7: time in there. I just made it through. It's just
- 14:49Speaker 7: it was really rough, but I made it through, and
- 14:51Speaker 7: I feel great.
- 14:52Speaker 2: We're reading some of the questions that's coming across the screen,
- 14:55Speaker 2: so you can just hold on for a minute. Channette
- 14:57Speaker 2: Johnson is a power house when it comes to our
- 15:01Speaker 2: brothers and our sisters that are incarcerated. She has been
- 15:05Speaker 2: reaching out to them and talking to them about their
- 15:08Speaker 2: cases and trying to make some things move. And she's
- 15:11Speaker 2: been moving and shaking, and she wanted to speak with you,
- 15:14Speaker 2: but I said, this is my brother, so I'm going
- 15:16Speaker 2: to do the first interview with him. And at the
- 15:19Speaker 2: time being that he was still incarcerat and I knew
- 15:20Speaker 2: he was on his way out. I knew she would
- 15:23Speaker 2: have took care of you, but you know the system,
- 15:25Speaker 2: one little slip up with any word the way to
- 15:28Speaker 2: keep you in there. So I wanted to wait and
- 15:29Speaker 2: make this day special again. I said, I'm going to
- 15:31Speaker 2: spoil myself and be selfish I wanted to make that
- 15:34Speaker 2: day special for me to have that first interview with him. Carol.
- 15:38Speaker 2: He's still here and he's still talking to you. Thanks Shane,
- 15:41Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Carol.
- 15:48Speaker 7: What you got on your mind? Yes it is.
- 16:02Speaker 9: This is Kyle's been saying that you're truly missed from
- 16:04Speaker 9: the family, y'all. Always y'all, I was thought about you
- 16:08Speaker 9: every day. Every day I thought about everybody. Yeah, I see,
- 16:12Speaker 9: I called you constantly, Carol.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Hold on for a minute. We have somebody to ask, well,
- 16:18Speaker 2: the producer ask what would you give to the younger generation.
- 16:21Speaker 7: Advice would be, stay out of trouble where I was at,
- 16:25Speaker 7: don't just do the right thing in life. Family is
- 16:29Speaker 7: always important. Stay with your family, now are you most
- 16:33Speaker 7: of your siblings you know that's my advice. Keep a
- 16:40Speaker 7: positive attitude. We alls what you're going through. One of
- 16:46Speaker 7: them believing God. One of the things I want to
- 16:48Speaker 7: know is is just let go and let God. That's
- 16:50Speaker 7: what That's what my advice is.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I want to thank you so much Carol for calling in.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I appreciate it. We got other people that are are
- 16:58Speaker 2: also trying to call, but you guys that they have
- 17:00Speaker 2: each other's numbers. So I know they're going to stay connected.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And we're friends on Facebook, so we'll stay connected. Like
- 17:05Speaker 2: you said, we are, we are there, so we're gonna
- 17:08Speaker 2: definitely stay connected.
- 17:10Speaker 7: He call, and I'll get your call a little later.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Though. One of the things that I commend you for
- 17:19Speaker 2: is you've been in there for twenty seven years and
- 17:23Speaker 2: never caught a charge, never got into trouble, never had
- 17:28Speaker 2: a right down. And some people will say, nah, that's
- 17:32Speaker 2: not true. He had to have gotten into trouble. He
- 17:35Speaker 2: had to have this, he had to have that.
- 17:39Speaker 7: Jumping out of trouble. I read my Bible every day
- 17:42Speaker 7: until he worked twenty four hours a day, all day long,
- 17:44Speaker 7: every day. I was really never locked in. I was
- 17:47Speaker 7: out from six in the morning to ten at night.
- 17:50Speaker 7: Was never locked in the sell like everybody else. And
- 17:53Speaker 7: I worked like twenty five twenty six years straight.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Rod.
- 17:57Speaker 7: You catch a charge of it, which to hold and
- 17:59Speaker 7: then when to add? Never need to fights, broke up
- 18:03Speaker 7: a lot of fights with everybody. Make sure everybody was positive,
- 18:06Speaker 7: and that's said everybody, just Tim. I really ran. The
- 18:11Speaker 7: two prisons I was in Ward were two worse prisons
- 18:13Speaker 7: than there was in Jersey, where I was at One.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Of the things that I want to add to that
- 18:19Speaker 2: is that when you are a family member and you
- 18:22Speaker 2: have to and you're visiting a person incarcerated, sometimes you're
- 18:29Speaker 2: treated as if you were incarcerated as well. And I
- 18:35Speaker 2: think they need to change that up, because we're going
- 18:37Speaker 2: to visit our loved ones and no matter what the
- 18:40Speaker 2: state may say, we're human beings too, and they treat
- 18:43Speaker 2: us on the outside when we're trying to get in
- 18:45Speaker 2: on the inside to see you how bad it is?
- 18:48Speaker 2: So how was it? Because I worked with a lot
- 18:50Speaker 2: of incarcerated black males in Texas and right now they
- 18:53Speaker 2: are going they're going through hell. Inmates are dying left
- 18:56Speaker 2: and right from drug overdose.
- 18:58Speaker 7: Yes, they was dying drug the doing all kinds of
- 19:01Speaker 7: drugs where I was at and the ones that was
- 19:04Speaker 7: around me that was that was almost dying. I saved
- 19:07Speaker 7: the couple people from overdose in getting cprs. Got no
- 19:11Speaker 7: CPR and for my for my mop on them, but
- 19:15Speaker 7: I know, I know how CPR is. I taught the
- 19:17Speaker 7: people that was around me CPR. We brought to throw
- 19:20Speaker 7: the people back. They left to go home. Two three
- 19:23Speaker 7: much later, they died the street when they got out.
- 19:27Speaker 2: So do you think it was like I'm in the
- 19:30Speaker 2: reference where people that's been in there for such a
- 19:35Speaker 2: long time when they come out, they can't deal with.
- 19:38Speaker 7: The thing is they stopped the drug programs and a
- 19:40Speaker 7: lot of drug programs and some of the prisons where
- 19:42Speaker 7: I was at. If they continued going doing the drug programs,
- 19:45Speaker 7: there are a lot of people will change. They just
- 19:47Speaker 7: stopped a lot of drug programs and people just start
- 19:49Speaker 7: getting high in the prisons.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Wow.
- 19:52Speaker 7: So I've seen a lot of people die from overdose.
- 19:57Speaker 7: I've seen a lot of people hung. I've seen a
- 19:59Speaker 7: lot of will beat up when the police got killed
- 20:01Speaker 7: from the police. I see a lot of people take
- 20:04Speaker 7: their own lives by jumping off the balconies. I see
- 20:07Speaker 7: so much excuse my language, so much rape, people, men
- 20:11Speaker 7: hollering for their mothers and fathers. And it's just it
- 20:15Speaker 7: was just really well or people that just had to
- 20:18Speaker 7: deal with it. Me and myself, I have to worry
- 20:23Speaker 7: about none of that, and it involved myself for none
- 20:27Speaker 7: of it. Stay to myself while irate my Bible, Like
- 20:31Speaker 7: I said, every day I read the River from Genesis,
- 20:34Speaker 7: the Revelations, I know every prayer in each book. I
- 20:38Speaker 7: was doing that when I was home. Anybody know you,
- 20:42Speaker 7: anybody knows me, can tell you how I am, how
- 20:44Speaker 7: I was in there.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Wow, that's that's a lot to take in for anybody
- 20:56Speaker 2: that's in prison. For those of you who are listening
- 20:58Speaker 2: and you have relatives that's in there, my hearts go
- 21:02Speaker 2: out to each and every one of you. I couldn't
- 21:07Speaker 2: even begin to think what it was like being in
- 21:10Speaker 2: the inside and knowing that you had to face that
- 21:13Speaker 2: every day, day in and day out, and knowing that
- 21:17Speaker 2: it could even be your loved one, that this could
- 21:19Speaker 2: be happening to or that's in there, and something. Most
- 21:21Speaker 2: of them, you know, are in there because of systems
- 21:26Speaker 2: that have failed them, and then they got systems inside
- 21:30Speaker 2: the prisons that are still feeling them. So what could
- 21:36Speaker 2: be done two help those that are incarcerated, And I
- 21:42Speaker 2: would say is that to get out and vote. To
- 21:45Speaker 2: get out and vote so things can change. I'm not
- 21:49Speaker 2: going to sit in and tell anybody who to vote for,
- 21:51Speaker 2: but your vote do count, and that each and every
- 21:54Speaker 2: one of you that can vote, both of those that
- 21:57Speaker 2: are still in prison, vote, both of those who are
- 21:59Speaker 2: coming out of prison, both of those family members that
- 22:02Speaker 2: have those relatives that's in prison. It's I can say
- 22:08Speaker 2: it over and over again that it's it's been rough.
- 22:13Speaker 2: We've lost so many family members that he wasn't able
- 22:17Speaker 2: to be there for. You know, I have my dad
- 22:22Speaker 2: who we lost, my sister who we lost, and I
- 22:27Speaker 2: have two nieces and nephew and my husband as well
- 22:31Speaker 2: who we lost, and he could not be there for that.
- 22:35Speaker 2: To mourn the loss with the family. That's got to
- 22:40Speaker 2: be hard, especially when you hear the news. I believe
- 22:44Speaker 2: they take you and separate you from population.
- 22:49Speaker 7: They locked me in the cell for a whole week
- 22:51Speaker 7: or two because everybody was scared to be around me.
- 22:55Speaker 7: Locked me in every time somebody passed away in the family,
- 22:57Speaker 7: it locked in the cell for two or three weeks.
- 23:00Speaker 2: That do they just see them? Now? Do they do
- 23:03Speaker 2: that to all the inmates when they lose.
- 23:05Speaker 7: A fantom just the ones that looked that they pissed
- 23:07Speaker 7: off as I was.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Wow. So you see some of the conditions. What is
- 23:16Speaker 2: one of the things that you think that they should
- 23:19Speaker 2: immediately besides the drug program that they need to bring
- 23:22Speaker 2: into the prisons or what types of changes you think
- 23:25Speaker 2: they should make.
- 23:26Speaker 7: But they're doing that. They're doing that now as big
- 23:29Speaker 7: the churches and the job, the Muslim service that help
- 23:32Speaker 7: a lot of men in women in prisons. They calm
- 23:36Speaker 7: a lot of stuff down. But it's not it's not
- 23:39Speaker 7: about the churches stuff. It's the people that's in prison
- 23:41Speaker 7: be messing it up for themselves, the things they do
- 23:44Speaker 7: in church and everything that they get it stopped when
- 23:48Speaker 7: they stopped the Muslim service or anything they do and
- 23:49Speaker 7: any kind of career service, any kind of meeting that
- 23:52Speaker 7: they want to have, they do so stupid and they
- 23:54Speaker 7: shut it down.
- 23:56Speaker 2: What was it like? We we dealt with COVID on side,
- 24:00Speaker 2: But what was it like inside being locked in in
- 24:05Speaker 2: COVID where we were told to stay in here?
- 24:08Speaker 7: What was there COVID inside? There was everybody walking around
- 24:11Speaker 7: masks on. Can't be too close to nobody else who
- 24:16Speaker 7: died and nothing might bodies over the place, dead bodies
- 24:21Speaker 7: and as I was, worthy, bodies are worthy storing the
- 24:26Speaker 7: bodies of the bodies being moved out with with forre
- 24:29Speaker 7: the nights over device. A lot of people don't say
- 24:33Speaker 7: loves of COVID in there. I had four shots, four
- 24:37Speaker 7: COVID shots. I never had the COVID in at all
- 24:41Speaker 7: or anything I caught since I've been alive is a flu.
- 24:45Speaker 7: Never been sick in my life, no other kind of know,
- 24:47Speaker 7: the guns, sickness or anything. Thank God.
- 24:52Speaker 2: When you when you were in incarcerated, there was compositions
- 24:57Speaker 2: that you've had with your son's my children breaks God, yes,
- 25:04Speaker 2: thank you. And one of the things that I know
- 25:08Speaker 2: they was playing little games with you, telling you that
- 25:11Speaker 2: they're not kids anymore and stuff like that, that you
- 25:15Speaker 2: can't tell them what to do, they're grown now and whatnot.
- 25:17Speaker 2: What were you thinking when they were telling you things
- 25:19Speaker 2: like that, especially your signs telling you that you know
- 25:22Speaker 2: they can't wait for you to come out, and they
- 25:23Speaker 2: got they got something for.
- 25:24Speaker 5: You and stuff talking all all my sons, my nephews,
- 25:31Speaker 5: the players are.
- 25:32Speaker 7: Tell them that I got to beat down list. When
- 25:34Speaker 7: I get out, they're on my beatdown list, and work
- 25:37Speaker 7: them over, let them know I'm back. I am coming
- 25:40Speaker 7: back and I'm back. But to give my sister a
- 25:42Speaker 7: hard time or my mother? Whybody, family? You got to
- 25:47Speaker 7: see me? It's all in fun though, it's all games,
- 25:51Speaker 7: just playing. Yeah, I ain't gonna be more too bad.
- 25:54Speaker 2: I have grandchildren that heard me talk about their uncle
- 25:59Speaker 2: Smokey uncle smoky, uncle smoking, and I spoke about him
- 26:02Speaker 2: so much. And the countdown where I'm talking about when
- 26:05Speaker 2: we say counting, we were counting down up until the
- 26:08Speaker 2: minute that he walked through the door. I'm sitting in
- 26:11Speaker 2: the window working and just kept looking. I'm talk about
- 26:14Speaker 2: call it went past. I'm looking and I said, I
- 26:16Speaker 2: gotta stop, I gotta stop. He's gonna call me and
- 26:18Speaker 2: whatnot when he gets closer. But that the next part
- 26:21Speaker 2: it went past. I kept looking, and the look in
- 26:28Speaker 2: one of my children's eyes. I saw them looking at
- 26:31Speaker 2: me while I was looking at you, and the look
- 26:35Speaker 2: on their face was I did it now. I did
- 26:38Speaker 2: it now as far as who you say he was
- 26:41Speaker 2: and what he meant to you and what he means
- 26:43Speaker 2: to you, and they know that that's just that kind
- 26:50Speaker 2: of lump that's there and that it just never I don't.
- 26:54Speaker 2: I think it did change. I think that it grew
- 26:57Speaker 2: stronger than it was before for but I know that
- 27:02Speaker 2: I have to let go because I feel like I
- 27:04Speaker 2: have to protect you. And I know you would say
- 27:08Speaker 2: where you protected me from. It's it's rough out here,
- 27:11Speaker 2: and I know that you can handle it. But I'm
- 27:13Speaker 2: still saying that stuff like watch this, watch that, watch
- 27:19Speaker 2: this type of person, watch that, and that's just that's
- 27:21Speaker 2: just I guess how I'm built with that. But I
- 27:24Speaker 2: know that your sons are going to take care of you.
- 27:28Speaker 2: I know you're just an airplane because I'm not getting
- 27:30Speaker 2: on the bus. You're just an airplane away, and you'll
- 27:33Speaker 2: be coming back and forth. And I'm so happy that
- 27:36Speaker 2: you daughter enough to come by here first to see
- 27:39Speaker 2: us before you go. We got another quote. Hello, oh yes,
- 27:51Speaker 2: basic black at the dark Ya hey here, I'm fine.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's old, it's old. Yeah. This is my
- 28:05Speaker 2: nephew and this is his son, and he's letting him
- 28:08Speaker 2: know and reminding him.
- 28:12Speaker 7: You never wanted to beat that list anywhere. I know
- 28:13Speaker 7: what you're talking about.
- 28:21Speaker 10: Happy, huh oh you got jokes, Yes, you got another
- 28:30Speaker 10: star that your name.
- 28:32Speaker 7: I'll be down in Georgia soon.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:38Speaker 7: Holdly, look that you take pants. You get you a good.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he's he's one on the list.
- 28:48Speaker 5: But later, oh oh, sounds like somebody talking to somebody
- 28:58Speaker 5: about to get a beat down.
- 28:59Speaker 2: And I'm not sure's giddy, but yeah, I just want
- 29:05Speaker 2: y'all to send me pictures, Send me pictures of the headlights.
- 29:11Speaker 2: The knuckles, all of that. Send me pictures because I
- 29:13Speaker 2: have something I wanted to say. I know I'm he said,
- 29:19Speaker 2: he's ready for that little man. So I've seen him.
- 29:24Speaker 7: I've seen when I get that.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I've seen him standing next to your brother. Yeah. So
- 29:36Speaker 2: you somebody when you are you talling at him? Oh?
- 29:44Speaker 2: Oh okay, So this is gonna be a good beatdown
- 29:46Speaker 2: for somebody. Somebody's in for something he's not. He's trying
- 29:51Speaker 2: to tell you he's not an inkui bitter any I'm
- 29:54Speaker 2: gonna working over.
- 29:56Speaker 7: Canna be. I gonna work you over the Thank god,
- 30:02Speaker 7: real funny guy.
- 30:05Speaker 2: You know that you can't wait. He's He's leaving tomorrow morning.
- 30:10Speaker 2: So that's gonna definitely be bittersweet. But the best part
- 30:12Speaker 2: is that I know I know what I'm saying, and
- 30:16Speaker 2: I know that when when I need them, I can
- 30:18Speaker 2: call them, I can get to him, he can get here.
- 30:20Speaker 2: It's not like there's going to be a need, but
- 30:22Speaker 2: it's just knowing that he's home and that it starts
- 30:26Speaker 2: to put pieces back together for me, part of me
- 30:31Speaker 2: that I won't say it was broken, but well I
- 30:35Speaker 2: have some cracks in it. So you filled in some
- 30:38Speaker 2: of those cracks for me, and I know how your
- 30:42Speaker 2: kids must feel. You know those are your children. How
- 30:45Speaker 2: I'm feeling as your sister. Yeah, I spent more years
- 30:48Speaker 2: in your life than they did, but there's still your children.
- 30:51Speaker 2: And one of them that's here. He just the day
- 30:56Speaker 2: that he came in here saying, wait to go get
- 30:59Speaker 2: you and you guys, the three of you to be together.
- 31:03Speaker 2: That just makes me smile knowing that y'all are gonna
- 31:06Speaker 2: be together. Please take pictures and send them to me
- 31:09Speaker 2: so I can see the.
- 31:10Speaker 7: Three of you. Don't forget you.
- 31:11Speaker 2: I'm not forgetting your doors at all. I'm definitely forgetting that.
- 31:15Speaker 2: If she's watching them, sweet, I'm not forgetting you. I'm
- 31:17Speaker 2: just saying being and somebody that grew up with mostly brothers.
- 31:20Speaker 2: To watch these three men and they look so much alike,
- 31:25Speaker 2: it's going to be phenomenal. I can't wait to be
- 31:28Speaker 2: in their presence together to actually watch like me. So
- 31:35Speaker 2: in other words, they're lucky. It looked like me too.
- 31:38Speaker 2: But see now, now see I'm wanting the side to
- 31:48Speaker 2: a degree, but you are on you on natural Lincoln
- 31:52Speaker 2: threats and you can't do that, So it's just gonna be.
- 32:00Speaker 2: It's like I said, it's gonna be a bittersweet, but
- 32:03Speaker 2: it's all good. And but then they know it or not.
- 32:08Speaker 2: I cried last night, like it's not real, it's not real,
- 32:12Speaker 2: it's this is just not happening. This day actually came
- 32:16Speaker 2: tapping it down, from the years to the months, to
- 32:20Speaker 2: the days to the minutes.
- 32:22Speaker 7: You quiet, and you used to be no more have
- 32:28Speaker 7: to wait.
- 32:29Speaker 2: You believe me, You're gonna definitely know the difference between
- 32:32Speaker 2: this hard floor and a soret firm mattress and whatnot.
- 32:37Speaker 2: You start the master these two cell phones that you
- 32:41Speaker 2: have nerves. I am not gonna say nothing about the women. Yes,
- 32:46Speaker 2: I know how you were and you probably still will be.
- 32:51Speaker 2: With the women. I'm gonna step aside and not be
- 32:54Speaker 2: over protective. You leave it alone and let you do you.
- 33:00Speaker 2: But I'm gonna keep my eye on some of y'all.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I know how to get down there, but I can
- 33:09Speaker 2: never say and know how happy I am that your
- 33:14Speaker 2: your home and then we get to share this this
- 33:19Speaker 2: moment with you, that mommy can get to share this
- 33:23Speaker 2: time with you and nieces and great nieces. And I'm
- 33:28Speaker 2: understanding that you are going to be not You're not
- 33:31Speaker 2: just a grandfather. You're going to be a great grandfather
- 33:35Speaker 2: as well. So congratulations, you beat me to the punch.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Shut I love you. Yeah, he's beat me to that punch.
- 33:48Speaker 2: And and for many reasons why I'm glad that he's
- 33:50Speaker 2: beat me to the punch, because I'm not ready to
- 33:51Speaker 2: be a great grandmother, barely dealing with the grandkids that
- 33:55Speaker 2: I got their handful. But once you get to see
- 33:59Speaker 2: your grand children, I want you to tell me how
- 34:02Speaker 2: that feels when you're around them. It's it's a much
- 34:06Speaker 2: different feeling than it is when you see your own
- 34:09Speaker 2: children grow up, because you get it's.
- 34:11Speaker 7: I could get a do over right there, I can
- 34:13Speaker 7: tell you, I can honestly tell you right now, be
- 34:16Speaker 7: nervous about my grandkids.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Right Why do you think you'll be nervous?
- 34:20Speaker 7: Because I haven't seen them and I haven't groom going
- 34:23Speaker 7: up with me can be a little nervous, So I'll
- 34:26Speaker 7: be all right, though, just give me a little nervous.
- 34:28Speaker 2: I think that they've heard probably stories about.
- 34:31Speaker 7: You, like I know I have. But I'm still gonna
- 34:33Speaker 7: a little nervous. I may speak tomorrow the time in
- 34:34Speaker 7: the form and all that, but seeing them and have
- 34:37Speaker 7: them standing in front of me. Yeah, I'll be all right,
- 34:40Speaker 7: though there's nothing so one point I can't get over.
- 34:43Speaker 7: What was it like when you saw mommy?
- 34:45Speaker 2: No, that worried.
- 34:48Speaker 7: I can't even make up yet. I can't even find
- 34:49Speaker 7: a way for that one yet. And it's just all
- 34:53Speaker 7: it's all about none but.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Beautiful it was. It was.
- 34:59Speaker 7: Just more an amazing to just look at her face
- 35:02Speaker 7: and knowing that she's around, to be still around for
- 35:05Speaker 7: me to see her. I was talking and talking, Oh no,
- 35:09Speaker 7: everything is beautiful.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Yeah. So she's just upstairs along with many many family
- 35:16Speaker 2: members upstairs.
- 35:17Speaker 7: They came to take our dancing even though she's nine
- 35:19Speaker 7: nine years old.
- 35:21Speaker 2: When will the talk with Sebastian Roy's be you know,
- 35:26Speaker 2: Sebastian Royce. When will the talk with Sebastian Roy's b
- 35:33Speaker 2: u h, When will you talk with Sebastian Royce? That's
- 35:38Speaker 2: by I have no idea who.
- 35:41Speaker 7: Who is Sebastian Royce. I don't know who Sebastian ways is.
- 35:45Speaker 2: And un that's it was typed wrong, but she Knet
- 35:48Speaker 2: Johnson saying that's a blessing. I guess she's that's mine.
- 35:54Speaker 7: Sebastian Royce, who Sebastian Royce.
- 35:57Speaker 2: She might have been somebody that was inside. She may
- 35:59Speaker 2: have known m that may have been incarcerated at the times.
- 36:08Speaker 2: No guess one of one of her guests. So she's saying,
- 36:13Speaker 2: what would it be like for Sebastian wu was I
- 36:15Speaker 2: guess to be like when he comes home? I guess
- 36:17Speaker 2: you may be repersenting that or maybe you being a
- 36:21Speaker 2: guest on her shows or something. Because of course she's
- 36:24Speaker 2: gonna have different questions than I have. But your mind
- 36:26Speaker 2: is just all love and just saying, I just gotta
- 36:28Speaker 2: how long how long has he been?
- 36:31Speaker 7: Is he outsy home?
- 36:34Speaker 2: Sebastian words, I guess I think I know Sebastian Wards
- 36:37Speaker 2: is now that that's I believe her partner and maybe
- 36:41Speaker 2: one of her guests that that comes on. They were
- 36:44Speaker 2: asking about a guest that's coming on Chanette's show. What
- 36:49Speaker 2: was the question about the guests about coming on chette show?
- 36:53Speaker 2: Or asked about him being a guest on on Chett's
- 36:56Speaker 2: show or a guest that's gonna be coming on her show?
- 36:59Speaker 2: Because I'm not clear, but the question is that you're accing.
- 37:04Speaker 2: But Sheette has a show, she does it. She's the
- 37:07Speaker 2: one that I was telling you about that, does it
- 37:09Speaker 2: with incarcerated? With incarcerated? So that person is asking, no,
- 37:17Speaker 2: it's still it's just I can't hear, but they can.
- 37:26Speaker 2: So No, he's not home. He's going to be He's
- 37:31Speaker 2: going to be on the show. Okay. So yeah, so
- 37:34Speaker 2: that's somebody's saying, what was it? The question was what
- 37:36Speaker 2: was it going to be like for him? He's not home,
- 37:38Speaker 2: it's going to be a guest on his show.
- 37:40Speaker 3: So what what?
- 37:41Speaker 7: I guess what would depends on the situation. Depends on
- 37:44Speaker 7: what situation he went through since he been there, was
- 37:48Speaker 7: it was?
- 37:49Speaker 2: It?
- 37:49Speaker 7: Was it hard for him?
- 37:50Speaker 2: Was it rough for him? It was hard for me.
- 37:53Speaker 7: He went through a lot of trouble and trauma and
- 37:54Speaker 7: everything with the officers, correction officers. He's not allow, you're
- 37:59Speaker 7: not on the vacation, and he wasn't in the whole accent.
- 38:04Speaker 7: See I never experienced being in the whole a lot
- 38:06Speaker 7: of ben accent or fighting anybody. But he should be
- 38:09Speaker 7: all right, He's coming home, he's alive, Thank god, He's
- 38:13Speaker 7: gonna be okay, he's gonna call you later. So yeah,
- 38:22Speaker 7: I can't I can honestly say he's gonna be okay,
- 38:25Speaker 7: he's gonna be in the show.
- 38:26Speaker 2: He's gonna be okay, and she has just so much infamy.
- 38:31Speaker 2: All like to meet him the basting Ards. You would
- 38:34Speaker 2: like to do, well, I'm gonna definitely give you an
- 38:36Speaker 2: information for your next show so you can actually see it.
- 38:39Speaker 2: So he's gonna be on the show, so you could
- 38:42Speaker 2: see her talking to him, But it's gonna be a
- 38:45Speaker 2: different set up than what we're doing. He's probably not
- 38:48Speaker 2: gonna be sitting next to her and like you're sitting
- 38:49Speaker 2: next to me. He's gonna be on the screen and
- 38:52Speaker 2: they'll be talking to each other or either you may
- 38:54Speaker 2: hear him with a conversation because I'm not sure how
- 38:57Speaker 2: they'll set it up for when he made so he
- 39:01Speaker 2: may just be calling in and you made just he
- 39:02Speaker 2: had voice and you know, like they're coming. They were
- 39:05Speaker 2: asking about a guest that's coming on Chinette show. Yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 2: we got that that I guess that's coming on Chanette show,
- 39:13Speaker 2: how Ward Shabastian. That person is a friend of Sebastian
- 39:17Speaker 2: Roy who was coming on chaneche who I don't know
- 39:19Speaker 2: who Sebastian Roy is, but he's a friend of Sebastian Roy.
- 39:24Speaker 2: He's coming on Chette show. So so yeah, So I
- 39:32Speaker 2: guess it's different for everybody. And I'm just speaking from
- 39:36Speaker 2: just observing and watching Channette show. She she, like I said,
- 39:40Speaker 2: she's a powerhouse with it, with with her questions, with
- 39:44Speaker 2: talking to these gentlemen and how she's making them feel.
- 39:47Speaker 2: And they seem he is going to be on Chanez.
- 39:50Speaker 2: So they thought his show was tonight. Oh okay, yeah,
- 39:53Speaker 2: they thought the show was tonight. Okay, we got it,
- 39:56Speaker 2: thank you. Okay, he's gonna be he should be. Okay,
- 40:03Speaker 2: they thought his show was tonight. But she I see
- 40:10Speaker 2: when she's doing her conversation with her guests that near
- 40:15Speaker 2: in you. You hear them with such gratitude and saying
- 40:19Speaker 2: thank you, and it's just being humble with them saying
- 40:22Speaker 2: thing because she's giving them a platform to be able
- 40:25Speaker 2: to speak, so they do have a voice on her show.
- 40:28Speaker 2: And that's something I commend you Chette for doing. It's
- 40:32Speaker 2: not something that everybody can do, and in the way
- 40:35Speaker 2: that she does it, in the way she carries it out,
- 40:37Speaker 2: I again commend her for doing it and for wanting
- 40:40Speaker 2: to do it. So in anybody, that's if you have
- 40:45Speaker 2: family that's incarcerated, get in touch with the Crew Network
- 40:50Speaker 2: podcast network and ask for Seanette or get in touch
- 40:53Speaker 2: with Chette on her show so you can have them
- 40:55Speaker 2: on the show because they're they're breaking down walls and
- 40:58Speaker 2: barriers with those that are incarcerated, and it is really
- 41:02Speaker 2: really needed. It wasn't something that I myself could have
- 41:07Speaker 2: could have done, because I know my brother was in
- 41:09Speaker 2: there and I would have been probably saying things that
- 41:13Speaker 2: have probably got me incarcerated along with him. So it
- 41:16Speaker 2: was something that I just couldn't do, and my opinions
- 41:20Speaker 2: would have been probably the wrong opinion to have. But
- 41:24Speaker 2: she's able to do it in such a graceful way
- 41:27Speaker 2: that I'm intrigued when I watch her show, you know,
- 41:30Speaker 2: with the way that she handles the callers and the responses,
- 41:35Speaker 2: and even some of them they say is they may
- 41:38Speaker 2: come on saying it one way and being a little
- 41:41Speaker 2: maybe inappropriate, but by the time they finish hearing her
- 41:44Speaker 2: and hearing the guests, you hit a difference and what
- 41:48Speaker 2: they may have thought at first. So I appreciate you
- 41:53Speaker 2: for doing what you do. But again, it's about this
- 41:57Speaker 2: guy right here, and it has been about him for
- 42:00Speaker 2: such a long time that I spoken to people that
- 42:05Speaker 2: don't even know him that I've met about this brother
- 42:10Speaker 2: here and his time and there, and it was just
- 42:12Speaker 2: always positive conversations with them not knowing them and bailing
- 42:18Speaker 2: on me because that's just the way I felt like
- 42:20Speaker 2: I just needed to talk to someone to get it
- 42:23Speaker 2: out and just to let people know that this is
- 42:27Speaker 2: what a person feels like when they have someone incarcerated.
- 42:30Speaker 2: And I remember one time I went to visit you
- 42:34Speaker 2: and the way the officers on the outside was treating
- 42:39Speaker 2: people and the elderly that was coming in to see
- 42:42Speaker 2: their loved ones. You know, I was sitting there saying
- 42:44Speaker 2: that it should be a better way for them to
- 42:48Speaker 2: allow people. They're treating us like with the inmates. You know.
- 42:55Speaker 2: One of the things that I saw when I did
- 42:57Speaker 2: go through and they saw me sitting down with you,
- 42:59Speaker 2: they was like, like, that's your family. Oh I didn't know.
- 43:02Speaker 2: So does that make a difference because now that you
- 43:04Speaker 2: know who I'm with, meaning that this is my brother,
- 43:07Speaker 2: that you would have treated me different. You know, I
- 43:09Speaker 2: appreciate that you and and the office has got along,
- 43:14Speaker 2: but what about everybody else that was standing in that
- 43:16Speaker 2: along with me, that was being treated in a way.
- 43:20Speaker 2: And I won't say it was what you call an
- 43:21Speaker 2: appropriate like touch or anything like that. It was just
- 43:23Speaker 2: the attitude.
- 43:24Speaker 7: This attitude, you know, how each individual treats the officers,
- 43:29Speaker 7: and how the officers treated each each individual. They go
- 43:33Speaker 7: back arguing with each each other, and then they know
- 43:34Speaker 7: they're gonna get a visit, and then when the visit comes,
- 43:37Speaker 7: they're also gonna give the visitor all the time. Yeah,
- 43:40Speaker 7: that's how that's how things working there. You know, every
- 43:43Speaker 7: option they respected me, I respect them. They didn't getting
- 43:47Speaker 7: my way and getting their everybody that loved me, and
- 43:52Speaker 7: that's what I saw, you know, my time to come out.
- 43:55Speaker 7: Once they saw who I was, I was visiting and whatnot,
- 43:59Speaker 7: they were you know, not like that and whatnot. And
- 44:01Speaker 7: you know, I was just not back because I'm like,
- 44:03Speaker 7: I really know what.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Was going on. But after doing it for such a
- 44:07Speaker 2: long time and coming in visitings and you start to
- 44:10Speaker 2: catch on to the way they did things, from the
- 44:13Speaker 2: clothes you could wear there for visits, to the clothes
- 44:16Speaker 2: you can't wear, to the way you gotta just almost
- 44:19Speaker 2: about wear your hair, no jewelry, no rings. Make sure
- 44:23Speaker 2: if you're going in wear a T shirt with nothing
- 44:25Speaker 2: on it written on it, with a pair of jeans
- 44:27Speaker 2: and pair of shoes or sneakers that you can slide
- 44:30Speaker 2: on and slide off easy, so you won't have to
- 44:32Speaker 2: have no problem, so your visit won't be denied, because
- 44:36Speaker 2: that's a hard thing to travel a distance to go
- 44:38Speaker 2: see a loved one and then you get there and
- 44:41Speaker 2: you can't go into visit, and especially when they know
- 44:45Speaker 2: that you are coming to visit, you know, it could
- 44:49Speaker 2: be very hard on both parties. And it's even harder
- 44:52Speaker 2: on the children that's coming to visit their mother or father,
- 44:57Speaker 2: whether it's incarcerated or grandfather, whoever it is, it's very
- 45:00Speaker 2: hard on them, you know, coming in when I was
- 45:03Speaker 2: visiting you, sometimes I would see children in there and
- 45:06Speaker 2: you would hear some people saying, how did you bring
- 45:09Speaker 2: children up here? Or why would you bring your child
- 45:11Speaker 2: up there? I can't answer for that as far as
- 45:15Speaker 2: why a person would or why a person would not
- 45:17Speaker 2: decide to bring their children. But for the inmates that
- 45:22Speaker 2: did have their children coming to see them, how hard
- 45:25Speaker 2: was it for both for the children who were leaving,
- 45:29Speaker 2: and then.
- 45:29Speaker 7: That it's probably hard for a person leaving were you're leaving.
- 45:33Speaker 7: Kids don't leave sometimes, and people that's coming with the
- 45:35Speaker 7: kids don't't leave. Nobody won't leave their loved ones in there.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I know the first time that I visited, I
- 45:42Speaker 2: wanted to say, cool, and we're going.
- 45:44Speaker 7: My daughter didn't want to leave when she came to
- 45:45Speaker 7: see me.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I heard about that, about the whole thing that occurred.
- 45:50Speaker 2: I was even wondering whether they was gonna let anybody
- 45:52Speaker 2: else come to visit because she didn't want her father
- 45:55Speaker 2: to stay there and be there without her.
- 45:57Speaker 3: You know.
- 45:58Speaker 2: But there's plenty of times, and I know, or I
- 46:00Speaker 2: was grown, you know, just remember we have to move
- 46:03Speaker 2: forward and continue to strive. We all have gifts and talents.
- 46:07Speaker 2: So what define us in life is what we do
- 46:09Speaker 2: with our gifts and talents. Keep your striving forward. And
- 46:12Speaker 2: that one's from my brother, see the intelligence and this family.
- 46:15Speaker 2: See how well written that once my sentiments exactly. Yeah,
- 46:20Speaker 2: it's it can be rough. It can be rough on families. Brother,
- 46:29Speaker 2: so feel so good to hear somebody else be called
- 46:31Speaker 2: little a little brother or something. But it's it could
- 46:36Speaker 2: be very hard on the family. You see the kids,
- 46:40Speaker 2: you know, playing on the other side, and it's almost
- 46:42Speaker 2: like they're in prison. And I'm not saying again whether
- 46:45Speaker 2: it's right or wrong to bring them there. That's the
- 46:48Speaker 2: family's choice. But you watch them and they watch babies
- 46:51Speaker 2: are coming in there, and sometimes you see prevent women
- 46:54Speaker 2: that's coming in there and whatnot, and and it's just
- 46:58Speaker 2: that I'm not saying that they should be acting like
- 47:01Speaker 2: or setting it up like they're on vacation, or they
- 47:05Speaker 2: should set up the visit areas and whatnot. But it's
- 47:09Speaker 2: from the moment that you come from that gate and
- 47:12Speaker 2: you're standing out in that cold waiting for them to
- 47:16Speaker 2: allow you to go to the next part, and then
- 47:18Speaker 2: you checked and then your your belts coming off. So
- 47:21Speaker 2: try to wear what you can. You ain't got to
- 47:23Speaker 2: do that. Janette says she cries every time she leaves
- 47:26Speaker 2: her husband. Well, it wasn't my husband, but I know
- 47:29Speaker 2: that I kind of know the feelings that leaving there
- 47:33Speaker 2: and knowing that you're coming on without them, that that
- 47:36Speaker 2: was the first time that I went. That's time crying
- 47:39Speaker 2: and whatnot. All the way back. I had an attitude
- 47:42Speaker 2: I would have probably got arrested for cope stopped.
- 47:44Speaker 7: You mean you you cried when you leave your husband.
- 47:47Speaker 7: But your husband. He probably cried too. When you go
- 47:49Speaker 7: back to yourself a where he's going to a lot
- 47:52Speaker 7: of men still still listen to the prisons can vicious
- 47:55Speaker 7: from everybody when they.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Go back aside.
- 47:59Speaker 7: Teach come out of their eyes too. To me quite
- 48:02Speaker 7: a few times now, she didn't admit that, and that
- 48:06Speaker 7: that's they should be crying.
- 48:10Speaker 2: They couldn't.
- 48:11Speaker 7: They couldn't give me a home and everything. Tell me
- 48:13Speaker 7: you're gonna be all right. I'll be home soon. I
- 48:15Speaker 7: know I'm gonna go home soon. Not admitted them and
- 48:18Speaker 7: be home so like your husband and your husband will
- 48:20Speaker 7: come home soon.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Yeah, why, I know that I got a family upstairs.
- 48:27Speaker 2: That's saying you're taking them all my time. You're having
- 48:31Speaker 2: them to yourself one hour. If I can keep him here,
- 48:35Speaker 2: I would. I would love to keep my brother here
- 48:37Speaker 2: with me. But life have to move on for him.
- 48:40Speaker 2: And I'm just so proud and so happy that he
- 48:46Speaker 2: is home and that he's gonna spend the rest of
- 48:50Speaker 2: his life with his family on the outside. I want
- 48:54Speaker 2: you guys to tune in to Basic Black after doc
- 48:58Speaker 2: in two weeks. My guess this will be author Onix Rice.
