- 0:10Speaker 1: Wait, true, true, I'm a check. I'm hey, everybody, Welcome
- 0:31Speaker 1: to Conspiracy the Show. I'm Adam Todd Brown. Who are you?
- 0:35Speaker 2: Oh man, it's Connor Maspadden back in the trap, baby.
- 0:38Speaker 1: In the cut. How's it going, man?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Oh man? Never better, dude, I'm so happy to be
- 0:45Speaker 2: back on the program. I've been I was telling Adam
- 0:47Speaker 2: off Mike before the show. I've been inundated with lovely
- 0:50Speaker 2: messages from Conspiracy to the show fans. I truly forget
- 0:53Speaker 2: that this show is popular and people listen to it.
- 0:55Speaker 2: But yeah, I've gotten a lot of folks like I'm
- 0:58Speaker 2: driving cost Country. I've been listening to you talk about
- 1:00Speaker 2: fucking pedophiles all day.
- 1:03Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Oh my god, You're the only fucking conspiracy show that
- 1:06Speaker 2: I can listen to that doesn't sound like some guy
- 1:08Speaker 2: trying to sell me fucking survival ration supplies, you know.
- 1:13Speaker 2: So the feedback has been great, and I'm stoked to
- 1:15Speaker 2: talk about this one because this is something I had
- 1:17Speaker 2: never heard about, and I probably wouldn't have found out
- 1:18Speaker 2: about my own.
- 1:20Speaker 1: We do need to get into selling survival supplies, though
- 1:22Speaker 1: I don't like that we're just leaving money on the table.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I want to get into owning survival supplies, Adam. Have
- 1:28Speaker 2: you have you checked the temperature out there?
- 1:31Speaker 1: There was an earthquake here yesterday and I got a
- 1:33Speaker 1: Google alert that was like, put your shoes.
- 1:36Speaker 2: On what now, dude? I? Well, I fucking I scored
- 1:40Speaker 2: this clutch corner apartment in an old building and it's
- 1:43Speaker 2: got exposed brick on the wall, and it's on the
- 1:45Speaker 2: fifth floor, and I got a great view of the
- 1:47Speaker 2: whole city, and I'm like, man, I'm a boss. And
- 1:49Speaker 2: when you're sitting up there and you feel the whole
- 1:51Speaker 2: building shake, You're like, I'm gonna die, all right. I
- 1:54Speaker 2: have a shitload of fucking plate weights and dumbbells just
- 1:57Speaker 2: sitting in my living room and the floor is gonna
- 2:00Speaker 2: those are gonna crash onto a baby's head in the
- 2:02Speaker 2: unit below me, And uh, I'm gonna get a fucking
- 2:05Speaker 2: rafter through my guts and bleed out and try to
- 2:07Speaker 2: text my mom something before I pass out. You know,
- 2:10Speaker 2: I'm fucking ske I was so freaked out, man, I
- 2:13Speaker 2: think about the big one all the time.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that one carried on for a while. I was like,
- 2:17Speaker 1: is this it? Is it gonna get? Is this gonna
- 2:19Speaker 1: be the one.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Me and my girl are watching He's Bounding Down, or
- 2:22Speaker 2: we're both looking at each other. I'm like, are we
- 2:24Speaker 2: gonna die looking at Danny McBride's nuts? Is this how
- 2:27Speaker 2: it ends?
- 2:29Speaker 1: That would be a bad way to go.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I could think of worse. He's Bounding Down is a
- 2:33Speaker 2: great program, and I you know, I've got a lot
- 2:35Speaker 2: of respect for the team there, But yeah, I would
- 2:37Speaker 2: I would have preferred a more paroetic death. You know,
- 2:40Speaker 2: at least I could if I could die in some
- 2:42Speaker 2: kind of Andrew Jackson duel or some sort of deal
- 2:45Speaker 2: gone awry in some back room Hollywood shit. But if
- 2:48Speaker 2: I fall through the floor of the fucking Liedo apartments,
- 2:51Speaker 2: you know whatever.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Well, speaking of cool ways to die, that's kind of
- 2:56Speaker 1: what we're talking about today. This is a thing I
- 2:58Speaker 1: had no knowledge of whatsoever. And we recorded. We have
- 3:04Speaker 1: a call in chat show that we do as a
- 3:07Speaker 1: bonus thing on on Pops called sixty nine Minutes and
- 3:12Speaker 1: oh yeah, me and chat Wilde just basically do a
- 3:15Speaker 1: zoom call with another on Pops host and a bunch
- 3:19Speaker 1: of fans every month.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Oh dude, yeah, you got to get me on there.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I've always wanted to do like a love line style
- 3:25Speaker 2: radio show that kicks ass.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll definitely have you on. It's a lot of fun.
- 3:28Speaker 1: We just did the first one and a listener named
- 3:32Speaker 1: Mikey C called in and he asked me if I
- 3:37Speaker 1: had heard anything about this theory that the world was
- 3:41Speaker 1: going to end on September fifth.
- 3:43Speaker 2: There's always a new world's gonna end date. There's always one,
- 3:47Speaker 2: like on the books, like, well, guys, it's coming up
- 3:49Speaker 2: November fourteenth, you know, if you believe the Branch Davidians
- 3:53Speaker 2: they got you know, that's what they're saying.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It feels like it always involves a five too, Like
- 3:58Speaker 1: this one's September fifth. Last one was May something.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I've been fucking getting you know. It's I've
- 4:06Speaker 2: been like I read Rizz's book a long time ago.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It's called the Tao of Wu, and he breaks down
- 4:10Speaker 2: the nation of Islam and divine mathematics and shit like
- 4:13Speaker 2: that into to a certain degree in the book, and
- 4:16Speaker 2: fuck man, if some of that shit don't make sense,
- 4:18Speaker 2: Like I'm like, I buy into this religion way more
- 4:21Speaker 2: than Christianity, And if they would take white five percenters,
- 4:24Speaker 2: I'd probably go to the meetings. You know what I mean?
- 4:26Speaker 1: H MC search from Third Base was a five percenter.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Is he is he of the Caucasian persuasion.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Not only that he's Jewish.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yo. Respect. That's fucking good for you five percenters in.
- 4:40Speaker 1: The Nation of Islam.
- 4:41Speaker 2: That is dam dude.
- 4:43Speaker 1: That's a success story right there.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Your street card has unlimited metro points, man, that's fucking legit.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So I started looking into this, and it turns out
- 4:54Speaker 1: there were a whole lot of people who spent a
- 4:56Speaker 1: good part of twenty twenty and probably even longer than that,
- 5:00Speaker 1: worried that the world was gonna end on September fifth,
- 5:04Speaker 1: twenty twenty YEA.
- 5:06Speaker 2: And it's like, if what's this date shit to me?
- 5:09Speaker 2: I'm just like, I'm gonna every time I hear a
- 5:11Speaker 2: loud boom outside, I go, well, I'm going to look outside.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It's gonna be bright as daylight at nine pm and
- 5:16Speaker 2: then I'm gonna feel the fucking shockwave come and kill me.
- 5:19Speaker 2: You know, I'm more of a nuclear bomb fear. But
- 5:22Speaker 2: the date shit is interesting. You know that the people
- 5:24Speaker 2: would put so much credence in that, well everything is
- 5:28Speaker 2: falling apart.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and it especially if you're like, looking at it
- 5:33Speaker 1: from a Bible perspective, it makes no sense because like,
- 5:37Speaker 1: if you're basing this on Bible stuff, like it says
- 5:40Speaker 1: in the Bible, you're not gonna know when the end
- 5:42Speaker 1: of the world comes. It's just which is what I
- 5:44Speaker 1: want obviously? Oh, Like, for sure, I want to get
- 5:48Speaker 1: hit by the meteor if nothing else.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I don't want to fucking stay inside for three days
- 5:54Speaker 2: and then goes scavenge for supplies in the fallout like
- 5:57Speaker 2: I'm good man.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not a marauder. I don't have it in me.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I I can't buy a gun for five years for
- 6:05Speaker 2: a reason that I think you'll be able to deduce.
- 6:07Speaker 2: But I fucking if I had like a pistol and
- 6:11Speaker 2: that shit happened, I'm like, I'd probably like I'd go
- 6:14Speaker 2: outside and I'd take the temperature and see how much
- 6:16Speaker 2: of the common good was still floating around in the air.
- 6:19Speaker 2: But if it was even a little bit fucked up,
- 6:21Speaker 2: I'd probably just go, let's call it a life bang,
- 6:25Speaker 2: you know.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, definitely.
- 6:27Speaker 2: That was what the guy who made Walking Dead said
- 6:29Speaker 2: when everyone's like, what's your zombie survival plan, dude, and
- 6:31Speaker 2: he's like, well, first of all, that's fucking fiction. And
- 6:33Speaker 2: second of all, I would kill myself and my young
- 6:35Speaker 2: son so I wouldn't have to eat trash with him
- 6:37Speaker 2: in the wasteland. And I was like, yeah, dude, I'm
- 6:40Speaker 2: with Horse.
- 6:42Speaker 1: So the caller on this episode he mentioned, weirdly enough,
- 6:46Speaker 1: payphones and that this was all somehow tied to payphones.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So I promised to look into it. And now here
- 6:55Speaker 1: we are, and I did some googling around, and this
- 7:01Speaker 1: whole thing starts in twenty fifteen in Portland, Oregon, where
- 7:07Speaker 1: everything that might be a high level government social experiment starts.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that's where you find people, you know what.
- 7:15Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting about this MK ultra shit. They
- 7:17Speaker 2: always operate in kind of liberal hives, like San Francisco
- 7:21Speaker 2: with the fucking the brothels and the LSD. It's they
- 7:25Speaker 2: go for a place where the people are open minded
- 7:28Speaker 2: and ideologically flexible, and they go, we've got some wet
- 7:31Speaker 2: clay here in society. What can we mold this into?
- 7:34Speaker 2: You know?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of MK ultra happened at colleges and universities,
- 7:40Speaker 1: which would be the same thing. And yeah, in Portland,
- 7:45Speaker 1: these flyers started appearing that we're advertising something called the
- 7:50Speaker 1: Willamette Valley Dream Survey.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Which great name for a band from Portland.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be an amazing band name.
- 7:59Speaker 2: They've got three men players and if you listen to
- 8:01Speaker 2: the records, they need all of them. They're all playing
- 8:03Speaker 2: their part.
- 8:05Speaker 1: And I know for a fact it's pronounced will Lammett
- 8:08Speaker 1: and not Willamette because I was in Oregon once and
- 8:11Speaker 1: I got corrected by a fucking local.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, don't you hate that? I had that when
- 8:16Speaker 2: I went to Miami, Oregon. They were like, it ain't Miami.
- 8:20Speaker 2: You gotta say it more racistly.
- 8:22Speaker 1: It's Miama.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You gotta put some slur in your heart when you
- 8:27Speaker 2: pronounced Miama. That's an Oregon Yeah, man. I did a
- 8:31Speaker 2: gig there. They had a casino gig called the Looney Saloon,
- 8:34Speaker 2: and you got a fucking buffet card. I went back
- 8:37Speaker 2: to the hotel and actually hot tubbed with like a
- 8:39Speaker 2: four hundred pound Mexican skinhead gangster who was reformed, and
- 8:43Speaker 2: we fucking had a great time meet him and Keith Carey.
- 8:46Speaker 1: That does sound like a good time.
- 8:48Speaker 2: This was after I met a homeless man named Moon
- 8:51Speaker 2: breaking into his own Volkswagen van in the parking lot
- 8:54Speaker 2: and he was like, Oh, don't worry about it, this
- 8:56Speaker 2: is my van. And I was like, some reason, man,
- 8:58Speaker 2: I fucking believe you. And yeah, came back later and
- 9:00Speaker 2: he was in there with some other homeless chick and
- 9:02Speaker 2: he told us a dirty Christmas poem, you know all
- 9:05Speaker 2: that shit. But it's will Lammittt. I know this from
- 9:07Speaker 2: the Dead Rising games. If there's any old Xbox heads, Yeah,
- 9:12Speaker 2: it's kind of like a mid size, semi suburban sort
- 9:15Speaker 2: of place in Oregon, right.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's I think there's a river that runs through Oregon,
- 9:22Speaker 1: also called the Willamette. And these flyers that started going up,
- 9:27Speaker 1: this is what they said, have you been having strange dreams?
- 9:32Speaker 1: The Willamette Valley Dream Survey is investigating a recent spike
- 9:36Speaker 1: and bizarre, unexplainable dreams. If you have been experiencing any
- 9:42Speaker 1: unusual dream activity, you can help by reporting a summary.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Please call nine seven one, two five eight fourteen sixty
- 9:49Speaker 1: five with a description of your dream.
- 9:53Speaker 2: That's a very tantalizing prompt And.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Of course a lot of people at that time we're like,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you know what, I am having weird dreams. So they
- 10:05Speaker 1: started calling this number and people also started searching the
- 10:10Speaker 1: internet to try and find the source of this number.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Of course, even a local news channel in Oregon tried
- 10:19Speaker 1: to track down the source of this and they traced
- 10:22Speaker 1: it to a German language immersion school program. But when
- 10:27Speaker 1: they contacted that school, they they were like, yeah, we're
- 10:29Speaker 1: not using the number anymore. Uh.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Interesting. Yeah, the fucking the trail of breadcrumbs feels almost
- 10:35Speaker 2: deliberately misleading, Like some guy was just cold calling different
- 10:40Speaker 2: weird and he had like a deli meat producer in
- 10:43Speaker 2: Arkansas and the fucking preschool in Maine. And as soon
- 10:47Speaker 2: as somebody was just like, yeah, we'll take the fucking
- 10:49Speaker 2: cash under the table to route the phone number through here,
- 10:51Speaker 2: he was just like perfect, nobody will ever be able
- 10:54Speaker 2: to find out, and they'll project all their own meaning
- 10:56Speaker 2: onto this strange fucking German language school, you know, and
- 11:00Speaker 2: then you wonder like, oh, maybe he fucking worked there,
- 11:02Speaker 2: Maybe it's fucking maybe they're up, you know, maybe the
- 11:05Speaker 2: Germans are doing this to fuck with people. You know,
- 11:08Speaker 2: it raises so many interesting questions.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I would be weirded out a little bit if I
- 11:13Speaker 1: saw this.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's one of these uh you know, you
- 11:16Speaker 2: see so much bullshit promotional advertising on the street, but
- 11:19Speaker 2: every once in a while there's something that is a
- 11:21Speaker 2: little sincere and a little bit out there and it
- 11:24Speaker 2: just grabs you. And like this guy did a very
- 11:26Speaker 2: good job of creating this campaign. Whoever made this uh
- 11:31Speaker 2: and making it you know, like I said, tantalizing, you
- 11:34Speaker 2: know something that you want to engage with. I have,
- 11:36Speaker 2: you know what my girl I have? But my girlfriend
- 11:38Speaker 2: has let me take a picture of this and I'll
- 11:40Speaker 2: text it to her.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 11:41Speaker 2: It's just it's a good call to action.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and when people would call, this is the automated
- 11:48Speaker 1: female voice that they would hear. Thank you for calling
- 11:51Speaker 1: the willam Atte Valley Dream Survey. Please leave a detailed
- 11:55Speaker 1: the talent of your dream after the tone transcripts or
- 12:00Speaker 1: from your report.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Maybe complicated in other media. This chick sounds like she smokes.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Yeah, she's got she's got a pretty rocking voice.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah. No, they had a there's a way. There's some
- 12:12Speaker 2: videos that I'm sure will be in the show notes.
- 12:13Speaker 2: And yeah, they got a nice just official sounding like
- 12:16Speaker 2: just like the the like a lady that worked at
- 12:18Speaker 2: like a small town pharmacy. Like if we are unable
- 12:21Speaker 2: to process your prescription at this time. Please call back
- 12:24Speaker 2: at this number and leave us a detailed message. It
- 12:26Speaker 2: was so nondescript, you know.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's definitely a real person.
- 12:31Speaker 2: It's not a robo voice.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And you would think with that being the case, you
- 12:36Speaker 1: could maybe track down the person who recorded that, like
- 12:39Speaker 1: assuming they like went on fiver oh.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Yeah, or some like a fiver gig. You know, there
- 12:44Speaker 2: might be some chick would be like, Hey, I just
- 12:46Speaker 2: did this for two hundred bucks via PayPal. I didn't
- 12:48Speaker 2: know this was gonna be such a fucking thing.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Speaking of that, or along those same lines, one of
- 12:54Speaker 1: the people pushing this idea is a YouTuber named Nick Crowley,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and he's got all of these videos about all sorts
- 13:03Speaker 1: of things. Go check him out if you want. What
- 13:05Speaker 1: the fuck do I care? But I bring that up
- 13:07Speaker 1: for two reasons. One to give credit.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Todd Brown endorses anti Semitic YouTuber.
- 13:14Speaker 1: One. I want to give him credit, obviously, but also
- 13:18Speaker 1: I would like to log an objection to something he
- 13:21Speaker 1: says about all of this, which is he points out
- 13:23Speaker 1: the fact that this is a working phone number that
- 13:26Speaker 1: leads to a voicemail inbox as proof that people took
- 13:30Speaker 1: a lot of time and effort to do this. Yeah,
- 13:32Speaker 1: it's like, no that you can set up a voicemail
- 13:34Speaker 1: inbox online in minutes.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Dude. I ran a podcast that had a voicemail inbox
- 13:40Speaker 2: and it was all free on Google Voice, and I
- 13:41Speaker 2: figured out how to set it up in forty five
- 13:43Speaker 2: minutes and I never had to change it. I never
- 13:45Speaker 2: fucked with that. It was it ran itself after that.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Yeah, are the Unpop's voicemail line still has I think
- 13:51Speaker 1: Brett Raider reads the welcome message because we had changed
- 13:55Speaker 1: it since twenty thirteen.
- 13:57Speaker 2: No, I still every once in while I still get
- 13:58Speaker 2: a little ding on that meme his voicemail line.
- 14:01Speaker 1: You know, Yeah, I have been too. I've been getting calls.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I wonder if it's the fucking Willammette Valley Dream survey.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Maybe people are just looking for you know, maybe that's
- 14:10Speaker 2: the last like an anonymous voicemail services. The closest modern
- 14:14Speaker 2: society has to like a secular Catholic confession booth. You know.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we should set that up.
- 14:20Speaker 2: That would be fucking priceless. And the problem would be
- 14:23Speaker 2: is that we'd have all the phone numbers right if
- 14:24Speaker 2: we did it on Google Voice, it gives you the
- 14:26Speaker 2: other guy's number, and then we'd be like, okay, well
- 14:29Speaker 2: this man killed somebody and he said he wants to
- 14:31Speaker 2: do it again, and we really meant this as kind
- 14:34Speaker 2: of an artistic goof, but now I feel obligated to
- 14:36Speaker 2: talk to the cops, and that's not something that we
- 14:39Speaker 2: had conspiracy of the show. Are ever really happy to do?
- 14:42Speaker 2: You know?
- 14:43Speaker 1: No, no, last option is always to talk to the
- 14:45Speaker 1: cops around these.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Very last option, correct option. Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So this story really started to take off online when
- 14:57Speaker 1: it made its way to a Reddit thread where you
- 15:00Speaker 1: is her name? Marcus Yallow posted one of the signs,
- 15:03Speaker 1: and at that point a bunch of Reddit users jumped
- 15:06Speaker 1: in the comments to say, oh, yeah, I have had
- 15:08Speaker 1: strange dreams recently, which, of course like that's that's just
- 15:13Speaker 1: gonna happen.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's like the more exposure of this thing has,
- 15:17Speaker 2: the more people that happened to have been having weird dreams.
- 15:19Speaker 2: We'll see it and call the number. You know, it's
- 15:21Speaker 2: a self perpetuating prophecy or I don't I don't quite
- 15:25Speaker 2: know the word there, but like it's it insists upon
- 15:27Speaker 2: itself the larger an audience that it generates with its
- 15:30Speaker 2: titillating prompts and nondescriptive voice. You know, it's a well
- 15:35Speaker 2: put together thing, you know, and it's and it and
- 15:38Speaker 2: it spread like it was a many things that are
- 15:40Speaker 2: designed to be viral or designed to go viral or
- 15:44Speaker 2: to get exposure and to generate feedback just fall fucking
- 15:47Speaker 2: flat because people go, this is fucking a hoax, this
- 15:51Speaker 2: is for somebody's fucking Instagram. But something about this, the
- 15:55Speaker 2: sincerity of it, just kept on going. And then the
- 15:58Speaker 2: Reddit thing it picks up and you can often follow,
- 16:01Speaker 2: like you know, if you're a no, you're meme guy
- 16:03Speaker 2: or whatever, like the different like exposure points that proliferated it,
- 16:07Speaker 2: and you can we can trace a few major ones
- 16:10Speaker 2: back in this case, and that Reddit post seems to
- 16:12Speaker 2: be definitely kind of the water on the gas fire
- 16:15Speaker 2: that really popped this off.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really similar to something we're talking about on
- 16:21Speaker 1: the Pretty Scary podcast this week, which do you remember
- 16:25Speaker 1: the have you Seen this Man phenomenon? No, it was
- 16:30Speaker 1: this thing where all these people reported seeing the same
- 16:34Speaker 1: man in their dreams. Oh and he would like show
- 16:37Speaker 1: up and give advice or sometimes he was.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Scary but they all pretty scary.
- 16:42Speaker 1: They all reported seeing the same person, and it turned
- 16:45Speaker 1: out it was a huge hoax. It was this marketer
- 16:49Speaker 1: was doing it for reasons still unknown, but once people
- 16:53Speaker 1: saw it, and like the the face was just weird
- 16:57Speaker 1: enough that people would see it and go, oh, yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I recognize that, but also so common, like he had
- 17:04Speaker 1: big eyebrows and his eyes were wide apart, but other
- 17:07Speaker 1: than that, he looked like a whole lot of different people.
- 17:10Speaker 1: And so people saw that flyer and we're like, yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I've seen him.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you can project onto something. And again, if
- 17:18Speaker 2: it's a well crafted prompt, it will it will make
- 17:22Speaker 2: you think that, oh yeah, I'm one of these people.
- 17:25Speaker 2: And this is a bit of a tangent. But I've
- 17:27Speaker 2: heard that you cannot dream about a face that you've
- 17:29Speaker 2: never seen. You ever hear that old chestnut, you know
- 17:32Speaker 2: that's interesting. I have not, And Dave Chappelle has a
- 17:34Speaker 2: nice piece on that where I think it is grammy
- 17:37Speaker 2: thing where he's like, you know, I've seen so many hot,
- 17:39Speaker 2: happy audiences. I've got so many happy faces in my dreams.
- 17:42Speaker 2: You know, the world's a lot nicer in there. And
- 17:43Speaker 2: I don't know if that's true, or if that's a
- 17:45Speaker 2: matter of general scientific you know, or dream studying kind
- 17:48Speaker 2: of truth that's accepted. But yeah, that goes kind of
- 17:52Speaker 2: back to just this this will Ammet number and how
- 17:56Speaker 2: you can project your own sort of I don't knows
- 18:00Speaker 2: and fantasies and your need to be interesting or a
- 18:04Speaker 2: part of a phenomenon or your desire to you know,
- 18:07Speaker 2: see some group meaning in the world that's a little
- 18:09Speaker 2: paranormal and unexplainable, and then it can just insist upon itself,
- 18:14Speaker 2: and then so many people see that face and think
- 18:16Speaker 2: about it all day that yeah, they probably ended up
- 18:17Speaker 2: dreaming about that. No, I like white eyebrow, you know,
- 18:20Speaker 2: weird eyed. Fuck.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Yeah. And this Willamette Dream survey or Willamette Valley dream
- 18:26Speaker 1: survey thing starts happening a couple years after the Mandela
- 18:31Speaker 1: effect starts becoming a thing, which seems so very similar.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Where Mandela effects creeped me the fuck out. I got
- 18:39Speaker 2: I got got by that one. As a man in
- 18:41Speaker 2: my early twenties, I was like, I remember the barren
- 18:44Speaker 2: steam Bears. What the fuck is going on?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Man?
- 18:48Speaker 2: The aliens are running the show. I like, was at
- 18:51Speaker 2: a comedy show and I found out about it, and
- 18:53Speaker 2: I drove home early and I was like, in the carlor.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Yeah, we just we did a pretty scary ep about
- 19:00Speaker 1: that recently too, because it's all tied to this theory
- 19:03Speaker 1: that the world ended in twenty twelve and we were
- 19:06Speaker 1: all shifted, our consciousness, all shifted to a parallel but
- 19:11Speaker 1: slightly different universe, and that's why shit's been weird ever since.
- 19:16Speaker 1: But it's also that's the kind of I feel like,
- 19:19Speaker 1: sort of a similar thing where even though for the
- 19:22Speaker 1: most part, if you look into those examples of Mandela
- 19:25Speaker 1: effect stuff, they all have explanations.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yes, there's there is always a pretty like solid like
- 19:33Speaker 2: fucking oh okay, yeah that makes sense, you know, And
- 19:38Speaker 2: it's all and it comes down to human error, which
- 19:40Speaker 2: people don't like admitting to.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Hap right, people don't like admitting human error, and people
- 19:45Speaker 1: love being part of a group. Yep.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Ain't that always? Ain't that the Crusades brother?
- 19:50Speaker 1: So when you go online and you find out Hannibal
- 19:54Speaker 1: Lecter never said well, hello, Clarice in Silence of the Lambs,
- 19:59Speaker 1: you just that information and go, oh okay, yeah, we're
- 20:02Speaker 1: in a different parallel universe and all these other people
- 20:05Speaker 1: agree with me. So I have friends now, but also
- 20:09Speaker 1: if you just look into it a little bit further,
- 20:11Speaker 1: he does say that, but he says it in the sequel.
- 20:13Speaker 1: He doesn't say it in silence of lambs.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Indiana Jones doesn't grab his hat from underneath that thing.
- 20:21Speaker 2: That was just something that got parodied in in SNL sketches.
- 20:26Speaker 2: He grabs a whip in the movie. But everybody thinks
- 20:29Speaker 2: everyone references I did for many years myself as a
- 20:31Speaker 2: guy who fucking does nothing, but Hackey references in his
- 20:34Speaker 2: comedy that I thought it was a fucking hat. You know,
- 20:36Speaker 2: it's just something that happens somewhat naturally. You know, it's
- 20:39Speaker 2: a natural memory error. That's you know, you know people have.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It's like you don't want to admit that you're that
- 20:46Speaker 2: similar to somebody that you have the same reaction and
- 20:48Speaker 2: the same flawed reaction. Like in my own life. I
- 20:51Speaker 2: was once robbed in San Francisco, and I feel, this
- 20:54Speaker 2: is a this is a very it's not gonna make
- 20:56Speaker 2: me look very good or woke aus a white dude,
- 20:58Speaker 2: but it was a It was literally a heavy interracial
- 21:01Speaker 2: duo of like a black guy and like a brown
- 21:03Speaker 2: skinned Hispanic or Arab guy. We couldn't make it out.
- 21:05Speaker 2: They were stealing our suitcases and we were chasing them
- 21:08Speaker 2: up this hill and one of them said, hey, motherfuckers,
- 21:11Speaker 2: just you know, shoot him, shoot them, and they were
- 21:14Speaker 2: clearly bluffing, and me and the guy were just like
- 21:16Speaker 2: looked at each other and we go, these guys are
- 21:17Speaker 2: full of shit, but I'm not risking it for whatever
- 21:19Speaker 2: in that suitcase. And we just backed up and then
- 21:21Speaker 2: the cops came and it was a very stressful night
- 21:23Speaker 2: and night to fly back the next day. And the
- 21:25Speaker 2: cop was like, who took the bags? And I just
- 21:27Speaker 2: jumped up and I was like it was two African
- 21:28Speaker 2: American guys, and the cop and my buddy that I
- 21:31Speaker 2: was with, Max was like, no, it was an African
- 21:33Speaker 2: American guy and a brownskin guy. And I was like, fuck,
- 21:35Speaker 2: you're right, I am a racist piece of shit. You
- 21:38Speaker 2: know what happened? That shit like it just memory, you know,
- 21:41Speaker 2: you perceive things and you have air cognitive air. It's
- 21:44Speaker 2: all come down to fucking cortizone adrenaline stress.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, So fast forward to April thirtieth, twenty twenty, because
- 21:52Speaker 1: this the Willamette Valley Dream Survey. It was just kind
- 21:56Speaker 1: of that it was a Reddit post, and then people
- 21:59Speaker 1: thought it was weird, and no one ever really found
- 22:01Speaker 1: anything out about it, so we just sort of moved.
- 22:04Speaker 1: On April thirtieth, twenty twenty, a post goes up on
- 22:07Speaker 1: Reddit about a strange flyer posted on a telephone poll
- 22:11Speaker 1: in Utah. And here's what it said. Have you been
- 22:14Speaker 1: having strange dreams? The Happy Valley Dream Survey is investigating
- 22:19Speaker 1: a recent spike in bizarre, unexplainable dreams. If you have
- 22:23Speaker 1: been experiencing any unusual dream activity, you can help by
- 22:27Speaker 1: reporting a summary. Please contact either Happy Valley Dream Survey
- 22:31Speaker 1: at mail dot com or seven two five three three
- 22:36Speaker 1: three nine oh six seven and leave a description of
- 22:39Speaker 1: your dream. So here we go again, Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Same same shit, different place.
- 22:44Speaker 1: It wouldn't surprise me if this is something government related.
- 22:49Speaker 2: That's the thing. It's like, who needs this data? Is
- 22:52Speaker 2: it somebody putting together a ex post facto documentary about
- 22:57Speaker 2: this reaction to this art project, to this spiritual prompt
- 23:01Speaker 2: in the wild. Is it about to decay of modern
- 23:05Speaker 2: fucking paranormal thinking and dream analysis in this increasingly technocratic society,
- 23:12Speaker 2: Or is someone you know at the CIA going Are
- 23:16Speaker 2: there patterns to this DMT scape that we seem to
- 23:19Speaker 2: enter when we take this drug? Or is there a
- 23:22Speaker 2: landscape to the world of dreams? Are there common threads
- 23:25Speaker 2: that permeate throughout society and affect the world in unconscious ways?
- 23:30Speaker 2: Like the ancient Egyptians thought that the pharaoh went to
- 23:33Speaker 2: sleep and then his soul left his body and fucking
- 23:37Speaker 2: pushed the society forward. He made the rains come and
- 23:41Speaker 2: the fucking tides drop and the soil get fertilized. Are
- 23:44Speaker 2: they on some shit like that? I mean, they've got
- 23:46Speaker 2: too much money and nothing but fucking time and weird
- 23:49Speaker 2: ideas like they'll throw a shot at anything, you know.
- 23:52Speaker 1: That's that's the thing. Like I think people underestimate how
- 23:57Speaker 1: much time and resources the very Like we have sixteen
- 24:01Speaker 1: intelligence agencies in the United States and.
- 24:04Speaker 2: There's not even that much intelligence in his country at them.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Right and are Like, if you're worried about police budgets
- 24:10Speaker 1: in your area, wait till you hear what our black
- 24:13Speaker 1: ops budget is every year in the United States. We
- 24:16Speaker 1: spend so much money.
- 24:18Speaker 2: It's like the United States got divorced to a woman
- 24:20Speaker 2: named Darpa and we owe her in a bigger child
- 24:23Speaker 2: support payment every year pretty much. And they're not just
- 24:26Speaker 2: making cool SR seventy one blackbirds that you're gonna be
- 24:29Speaker 2: able to look at in an Air Force museum someday,
- 24:31Speaker 2: like they are doing some shit.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, I know, we all love to think MK
- 24:36Speaker 1: Ultra ended after we found out about it in the seventies,
- 24:40Speaker 1: but there's no fucking way that's true.
- 24:43Speaker 2: And I like to point out the only reason we
- 24:45Speaker 2: found out about it is because a fucking copy clerk
- 24:47Speaker 2: filed some documents wrong and a very I don't know
- 24:50Speaker 2: by the books little bureaucrats said hey, I found all
- 24:53Speaker 2: these documents, they're in the wrong place, and then Freedom
- 24:55Speaker 2: of Information Act blah blah blah blah blah, and now
- 24:57Speaker 2: we know about it. And that's just one thing we
- 25:00Speaker 2: know about. That's just one of these things they fucking did.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Like even like you go back to the shit that's
- 25:06Speaker 2: now declassified from World War Two. We were trying to
- 25:09Speaker 2: teach bats how to fly across the sea with bombs
- 25:11Speaker 2: on their bellies and roost in the eaves of these
- 25:15Speaker 2: fucking traditional Shintoist buildings with paper walls inflammable bamboo, so
- 25:19Speaker 2: that they could cause mass fucking program and genocide via bats.
- 25:24Speaker 2: You know, they fucking go ape shit on every idea.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and like, I can't imagine anyone listening to this
- 25:32Speaker 1: hasn't looked into mk ultra. But if you haven't, like
- 25:35Speaker 1: just go listen to our episode about it, or just
- 25:38Speaker 1: go read up on it. Like mm hmm. They were
- 25:40Speaker 1: doing crazy things.
- 25:43Speaker 2: It's a it's a significant precedent in the world of
- 25:46Speaker 2: conspiratorial thinking.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah, because it proves that not only were we into
- 25:52Speaker 1: exactly this kind of thing, like like thought control or
- 25:56Speaker 1: like just being able to find out as much about
- 26:00Speaker 1: how the human mind works and what it's capable of.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Of course the government's looking into that. Oh yeah, I
- 26:06Speaker 1: don't think mk ultra would have carried on for I
- 26:09Speaker 1: think it was like two decades, twenty five years something
- 26:12Speaker 1: like that if they never found anything.
- 26:15Speaker 2: We make this point quite often it's like they have
- 26:18Speaker 2: all this disposable money, they have all this fucking time
- 26:21Speaker 2: they waste your taxpayer dollars, but at the end of
- 26:23Speaker 2: the day, results or results or results, and if you're
- 26:27Speaker 2: not bringing home the bake and they're gonna give it
- 26:29Speaker 2: to some other guy who tries to you know, teach
- 26:31Speaker 2: fucking twins how to do telepathy, you know what I mean.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Yeah, And with something like this, like I, I don't know,
- 26:38Speaker 1: I could only speculate on what they would be doing,
- 26:41Speaker 1: but you don't know what the government's up to now.
- 26:44Speaker 1: They could have a way to control our dreams.
- 26:47Speaker 2: And honestly, Adam, I've looked into in our time apart,
- 26:50Speaker 2: I haven't spoken to you in some time. I'm very
- 26:51Speaker 2: remiss about that fact. But I've been learning about some
- 26:55Speaker 2: of these crackpot theories about consciousness. Most interesting to me
- 26:58Speaker 2: is a spiral dynas amis a theory for mister Don Beck,
- 27:03Speaker 2: and integral theory from a guy named Ken Weber. And
- 27:06Speaker 2: these guys, like many people that have correct ideas, like
- 27:09Speaker 2: we were treating ulcers wrong for fucking decades because I
- 27:12Speaker 2: don't know, the pharmacceutical industry had that shit locked up
- 27:15Speaker 2: tight and they wouldn't listen to any new ideas, and
- 27:17Speaker 2: finally they figured out how it fucking worked. And they're
- 27:20Speaker 2: pretty compelling, they're pretty they make intuitive sense to you,
- 27:23Speaker 2: even if they might not be backable by like scientific fact.
- 27:27Speaker 2: And there's a good chance that a lot of shit
- 27:30Speaker 2: like that, a lot of shit that we get thrown
- 27:31Speaker 2: into the crackpot, you know, piled by the great media machine,
- 27:35Speaker 2: the Military Industrial Congressional Complex, the whole fucking propaganda MSNBC, Twitter,
- 27:41Speaker 2: Sphear fucking misinformation machine that runs itself at this point
- 27:45Speaker 2: like a fucking red box. There's a chance that maybe
- 27:48Speaker 2: there's guys in a white coat somewhere in a fucking
- 27:50Speaker 2: DARPA building going Now. Look, we all know that we're
- 27:54Speaker 2: operating on the turquoise tier of spiral dynamic consciousness, and
- 27:57Speaker 2: the rest of these fucking sheep cannot find out because
- 28:00Speaker 2: they're gonna start wanting free healthcare. They're gonna start wanting fucking,
- 28:03Speaker 2: you know, a living wage and a union, and there's
- 28:06Speaker 2: no fucking way. We got to make this shit seem
- 28:09Speaker 2: like it's ape shit, and we use all this fucking
- 28:11Speaker 2: advantage to ourselves. You know, you never fucking know with
- 28:15Speaker 2: these people.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's talk about what happened next. Basically, a
- 28:21Speaker 1: Happy Valley, for one thing, is the nickname of the
- 28:24Speaker 1: area in Utah where the flyer was posted. And the
- 28:27Speaker 1: day this went up, a YouTuber named one Regate called
- 28:30Speaker 1: the number and posted the entire recording to YouTube. And
- 28:34Speaker 1: it's just a British voice saying please leave a description
- 28:37Speaker 1: of your dream after the tone, and people who called
- 28:40Speaker 1: it claimed they immediately received a text afterwards thanking them
- 28:45Speaker 1: for participating.
- 28:46Speaker 2: That'll send a childen on your spine.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Huh oh, yeah, for sure. They also claimed the number
- 28:52Speaker 1: called them back, but somehow no one ever managed to
- 28:55Speaker 1: answer one of those calls. Some kind of skeptical about
- 28:58Speaker 1: that part that.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Could obviously bes that could be people who there's just
- 29:03Speaker 2: there's also and there's another thing. Why, it's you can
- 29:05Speaker 2: never know anything in this fucking horrible day and age
- 29:08Speaker 2: people that just like to fuck with groups. They like
- 29:11Speaker 2: to fuck with group think, they like to manipulate thought
- 29:15Speaker 2: patterns around commonly agreed upon phenomena, and they've got nothing
- 29:19Speaker 2: but burner accounts and time in their mom's basement, so
- 29:21Speaker 2: they just go around spreading miss info.
- 29:24Speaker 1: There was some speculation that this could be scientists of
- 29:27Speaker 1: some sort doing this, which if that's the case, this
- 29:30Speaker 1: is a government thing. Like, yeah, science in and of
- 29:34Speaker 1: itself doesn't have the time for this kind of shit.
- 29:36Speaker 2: And you know what, we don't fund anymore science. Yeah exactly,
- 29:40Speaker 2: you know who's the like studies are never fucking double
- 29:45Speaker 2: peer reviewed. They're never confirmed. They just give you a
- 29:48Speaker 2: headline and they've got whatever shoddy data that they put
- 29:51Speaker 2: together to grab that headline, and everyone just goes, there's
- 29:54Speaker 2: no money in confirming this shit. You gott to fucking
- 29:56Speaker 2: make a new headline. We got to say the University
- 29:59Speaker 2: of Pennsylvania said that couples in coronavirus are more likely
- 30:02Speaker 2: to break up next week, you know, or whatever the
- 30:04Speaker 2: fuck you're doing. There's just no fucking public money or
- 30:07Speaker 2: resource or grassroots campaign to fund science because we've got
- 30:10Speaker 2: so many other fucking pressing problems in YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 30:13Speaker 2: So if someone's got a lot of money to put
- 30:15Speaker 2: behind a project, it's not outside the realm of possibility
- 30:18Speaker 2: that it's the CIA, the FBI, one of these sixteen
- 30:20Speaker 2: intelligence agencies that get weirder and weirder and more arcane
- 30:24Speaker 2: in the name and fucking you know, research department every
- 30:27Speaker 2: time they're fucking found and funded and persisted upon.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I think there's a misconception that scientists always equates
- 30:34Speaker 1: to good person or person that's on the side of
- 30:39Speaker 1: the truth. Like the woman behind plandemic is a scientist,
- 30:42Speaker 1: and right, she also has a serious bone to pick
- 30:46Speaker 1: with Anthony Fauci, which is very clear, and she's participating
- 30:50Speaker 1: in a thing that doesn't actually hold up to scientific scrutiny.
- 30:54Speaker 1: But she's also technically a scientist.
- 30:57Speaker 2: You can pay these people off to win court cases.
- 30:59Speaker 2: You can high vira scientist to lie for you in
- 31:01Speaker 2: front of a judge and fuck with the jury and
- 31:04Speaker 2: make a point for you, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 2: it's not hard. There's guys that make the whole living
- 31:09Speaker 2: doing that, going oh yeah, this audio that they got
- 31:12Speaker 2: on wire from a guy's a double agent. I'm a
- 31:15Speaker 2: sound expert, and let me show you why this shit
- 31:17Speaker 2: is inadmissible. This is bullshit. It might be crystal clear,
- 31:20Speaker 2: you know, it's just fucking It's a gig. Somebody's gonna
- 31:23Speaker 2: do it. I drove Postmtes. There's a fucking guy that'll
- 31:26Speaker 2: fucking suck whatever devil's dick for however much cash, because
- 31:29Speaker 2: he needs it. It's a mean old world.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah. If you watch the documentary about Michael Peterson, who
- 31:35Speaker 1: is a guy who's accused of murdering his wife but
- 31:38Speaker 1: he's out of prison now, and look at the forensic
- 31:42Speaker 1: analysts that they hire in that case. That dude like
- 31:46Speaker 1: what you're supposed to do when you're investigating a murder
- 31:49Speaker 1: is you recreate the murder and then you see what
- 31:52Speaker 1: kind of science unfolds around it. And what this guy
- 31:56Speaker 1: in this case was doing was trying to conduct it
- 32:00Speaker 1: experiments that would give them the results they wanted that
- 32:03Speaker 1: matched what happened in the house, which.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Is the exacty you're supposed to do science.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the exact opposite of science. But because he's
- 32:10Speaker 1: a scientist and when he was in court, people are like, oh, well, yeah,
- 32:13Speaker 1: this guy gets it.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Obviously, a fucking certificate framed on the wall gives you
- 32:18Speaker 2: a lot of cachet because people go, I don't want
- 32:20Speaker 2: to learn that shit. And the thing is, it's like,
- 32:23Speaker 2: you can learn enough about a lot of these things,
- 32:25Speaker 2: and you can use your fucking horse sense and your
- 32:27Speaker 2: intuition and your natural predilection towards logic and reason, and
- 32:30Speaker 2: you can kind of it's not too hard sometimes, even
- 32:33Speaker 2: as a dumb dumb to be able to on a know,
- 32:36Speaker 2: make a fucking reasonable disagreement with this. I mean, you
- 32:39Speaker 2: and I aren't classically trained in any department. People fucking
- 32:42Speaker 2: find us compelling, you know.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Yeah. The video also claims that one of the users
- 32:49Speaker 1: who uploaded this video, because there were two Reddit users
- 32:52Speaker 1: who were most active in terms of looking into this
- 32:55Speaker 1: one regate and aliens did nine to eleven, which waw
- 32:59Speaker 1: to that us.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Be a suspicious though. These two guys, Yeah, they end
- 33:04Speaker 2: up they'd be the Nigerian brothers that the Jessie Smile
- 33:07Speaker 2: of this whole thing, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 33:09Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, they end a Reddit account baby.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Doing all of this posting about it, but then delete
- 33:16Speaker 1: their their accounts like and just sort of disappear in
- 33:19Speaker 1: the video claims that one of the users had expressed
- 33:22Speaker 1: concerns that they'd gotten into something dangerous, which again I'd
- 33:28Speaker 1: love to see screenshots of that, because a lot of
- 33:31Speaker 1: this like this is just as easily a thing a
- 33:34Speaker 1: person could go out and orchestrate on the internet. Oh yeah,
- 33:38Speaker 1: like it would be easy to set up to fake
- 33:40Speaker 1: Reddit accounts or even you have friends who help you
- 33:43Speaker 1: with it, and then they you plan at some point that, oh,
- 33:47Speaker 1: we're going to disappear and make it really mysterious. Like
- 33:50Speaker 1: the people making these videos about this could be the
- 33:53Speaker 1: people behind this. Also, because there's good money in conspiracy
- 33:58Speaker 1: videos on YouTube, provided they don't get banned by the government.
- 34:04Speaker 2: And this is so innocuous and it doesn't make any
- 34:06Speaker 2: big claims about a big lawsuit happy institution that it
- 34:10Speaker 2: can exist and be relatively unmolested in terms of the
- 34:13Speaker 2: content moderation department. It's not like a guy like Porcelain,
- 34:17Speaker 2: who you know, guys that are more controversial that go
- 34:20Speaker 2: out there and they get pulled and they get flagged
- 34:23Speaker 2: and they have to have mirror uploads from different accounts
- 34:25Speaker 2: that go away every three months and shit like that.
- 34:27Speaker 2: It's like you're talking about a phone number, bro, I
- 34:31Speaker 2: got guys on here saying that coronavirus was made by
- 34:34Speaker 2: a Chinese magician, Like I gotta handle bigger shit fish
- 34:38Speaker 2: to fry.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Yeah, So stuff like this is just going to kind
- 34:42Speaker 1: of fly under the radar. It's not an offensive conspiracy theory,
- 34:48Speaker 1: but it's definitely one that because of that group aspect
- 34:52Speaker 1: to it and the weird dreams thing, because there have
- 34:55Speaker 1: been people reporting having weird dreams during coronavirus.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's a great New York Times article about
- 35:02Speaker 2: that you shared with me.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Yeah, And so this is the perfect time to roll
- 35:05Speaker 1: something like this back out.
- 35:07Speaker 2: And also This is the first time that a big
- 35:10Speaker 2: societal event has almost forced introspection upon the public, you know,
- 35:17Speaker 2: like nine to eleven that forced a lot of judgment
- 35:20Speaker 2: onto the Arab world, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 35:22Speaker 2: this has forced you to sit in your house with
- 35:25Speaker 2: your wife, your boyfriend, your partner and just chew the
- 35:29Speaker 2: meaningless minutia of your day and what happens then, I
- 35:33Speaker 2: don't know, you probably have a fucking weird dream or two. Man,
- 35:36Speaker 2: sounds like you're a bottling a lot of shit up.
- 35:38Speaker 2: You can't call her a bit, you already did that
- 35:40Speaker 2: on Thursday, you know what I mean. Like, you gotta
- 35:42Speaker 2: fucking pace yourself. We're in a pandemic. It's fucking locked down.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Yeah, And so obviously people were gonna respond to this
- 35:50Speaker 1: seeing it again because I think that story about the
- 35:53Speaker 1: weird dreams came out before this, So like that could
- 35:58Speaker 1: have just as easily been the inspiration for bringing this back.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that could be what popped it back up in society.
- 36:04Speaker 2: You know, you never know, it's like all these you know,
- 36:07Speaker 2: you can I say this not as in a dismissive way,
- 36:10Speaker 2: but rather it's just a general way of thinking of it.
- 36:12Speaker 2: But you know, the ideas are like intellectual pathogens. They spread,
- 36:15Speaker 2: they fucking take roost in your mind. You know, they
- 36:19Speaker 2: may find more fertile soil in different readers than others.
- 36:22Speaker 2: But you know, everything fucking reminds you of something. You know,
- 36:27Speaker 2: sometimes like just because someone makes a big tweet, a
- 36:30Speaker 2: song goes to number one on iTunes that hasn't been
- 36:32Speaker 2: listened to in years, you know, it just shit happens.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Yeah, And what makes me suspicious of this the guy
- 36:39Speaker 1: who made the video again, his name's Nick Crowley. He
- 36:43Speaker 1: is kind of the main source for all of this,
- 36:47Speaker 1: like his like he says, the reddit users disappeared, and
- 36:51Speaker 1: he seems to be the only one who got a
- 36:54Speaker 1: text message back and was able to strike up an
- 36:57Speaker 1: actual conversation with this group. And at one point he
- 37:01Speaker 1: gets a He he asks them a bunch of questions
- 37:06Speaker 1: and they say, you have to ask the right question,
- 37:08Speaker 1: and they finally tell him he does, and he gets
- 37:10Speaker 1: a response that says nine go five G which is
- 37:13Speaker 1: some foreign language that I don't know, but it roughly
- 37:18Speaker 1: translates to September fifth and somehow. And this is a
- 37:22Speaker 1: quote from the video that was all I needed to know,
- 37:25Speaker 1: And like really like someone texts you September fifth, and
- 37:29Speaker 1: you're like, oh, I got it figured out. And what
- 37:30Speaker 1: I tied it to is there's this group called five
- 37:33Speaker 1: September twenty twenty and they've been pushing this idea that
- 37:37Speaker 1: an apocalyptic event is happening on that day since back
- 37:41Speaker 1: in November twenty nineteen, and that day has since come
- 37:45Speaker 1: and gone.
- 37:46Speaker 2: With little fanfare. I suppose is there anything that could
- 37:49Speaker 2: you know? Did you find any significant like tide change
- 37:54Speaker 2: or like a big court decision or social action, Like
- 37:59Speaker 2: seems like there was nothing remarkable that took place on
- 38:01Speaker 2: the fifth of September this year, clear as I can remember.
- 38:04Speaker 2: It was only what twelve days ago?
- 38:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it was. It was a pretty normal day. And
- 38:08Speaker 1: I did check some of these Reddit threads on that
- 38:11Speaker 1: day and people immediately were because it was kind of
- 38:14Speaker 1: like I almost said, nine to eleven. Nope, the Y
- 38:17Speaker 1: two K bug. Yeah, all you had to do was
- 38:21Speaker 1: turn on the TV where and see that in a
- 38:24Speaker 1: place like Australia where it was already midnight, everything was fine.
- 38:28Speaker 1: So you just immediately got to spend the rest of
- 38:31Speaker 1: the day like oh, yeah, this was bullshit. Although the
- 38:33Speaker 1: Y two K Bug wasn't bullshit.
- 38:35Speaker 2: No, some things happened. And to be fair at him,
- 38:38Speaker 2: I think there's only four or five computers in Australia
- 38:40Speaker 2: at that time in nineteen ninety nine, so.
- 38:42Speaker 1: That's a good point.
- 38:44Speaker 2: It's not a great sample size. I think they were
- 38:46Speaker 2: mostly using like light brights, director sets, that kind of
- 38:50Speaker 2: a thing.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Yeah, great fireworks display.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Though, Yeah, I'm sure.
- 38:54Speaker 1: So. Yeah, the we didn't die, there was no no
- 38:58Speaker 1: cataclysmic And apparently dreams are really integral to this group.
- 39:05Speaker 1: So obviously, according to this video, they're the ones who
- 39:08Speaker 1: set this up because the dream surveys and maybe they
- 39:12Speaker 1: killed those two redditors because they found the same information
- 39:15Speaker 1: Nick Crowley found. He actually says that. Yeah, he says,
- 39:18Speaker 1: do you think these redditors were murdered because they found
- 39:22Speaker 1: the same information I found? Well, I don't know. Have
- 39:24Speaker 1: you been murdered?
- 39:26Speaker 2: Yeah? And look, I mean I don't know. I've been
- 39:29Speaker 2: to a psych word once in my life. And you
- 39:31Speaker 2: talk to a lot of people that are out there,
- 39:33Speaker 2: you know, and you'll notice common threads. You'll notice that
- 39:37Speaker 2: they like the two guys will just wont not shut
- 39:40Speaker 2: up about Russell Westbrook being like a soldier for the devil,
- 39:43Speaker 2: and they both got to that idea on their own,
- 39:46Speaker 2: you know. And there's just like I said, those intellectual pathogens.
- 39:49Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, there's got to be common delusion. There's
- 39:51Speaker 2: got to be common uh, unconventional conclusions that people that
- 39:56Speaker 2: live in altered states of mind more often than the
- 39:59Speaker 2: common man come to and agree upon and in some
- 40:03Speaker 2: way or another. With the proliferation of information being so
- 40:06Speaker 2: fucking readily available at our fingertips in this age of information,
- 40:09Speaker 2: those things start to develop patterns and groups and subcommunities
- 40:14Speaker 2: and subreddits and message boards and email change and dark
- 40:18Speaker 2: web fucking communication networks, and it all grooves and jails together,
- 40:24Speaker 2: and it makes it impossible to know anything. As you
- 40:27Speaker 2: said earlier in the program.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Hey everybody, this is Adam, host of this podcast. Did

- 41:27Speaker 1: Either way, thanks for listening and thanks for the support.
- 41:30Speaker 1: We love you. Let's get back to the show. So
- 41:36Speaker 1: this takes another turn, which this part is very weird
- 41:41Speaker 1: to me, but just because this is a very weird company.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Another YouTuber whose channel is called Tales from the Dark
- 41:48Speaker 1: picked up where Nick Crawley left off, and he added
- 41:52Speaker 1: another wrinkle to this story. In his video posted August second,
- 41:57Speaker 1: twenty twenty, he brings up this company called foot Tell,
- 42:01Speaker 1: and I'll admit this is a weird goddamn company.
- 42:03Speaker 2: This shit is fascinating to me. This is very interesting.
- 42:07Speaker 2: This footel a component of this.
- 42:10Speaker 1: They have been putting up payphones all around the country,
- 42:14Speaker 1: except they're free, which makes calling them payphones kind of
- 42:17Speaker 1: weird and incorrect. Yeah, but you can use them to
- 42:20Speaker 1: make calls for free, which I don't know who's doing that.
- 42:25Speaker 1: I guess if you're homeless, it would be a benefit.
- 42:29Speaker 1: If you're a drug dealer and you're using that payphone,
- 42:31Speaker 1: you're a fucking idiot. That's what I was about to say, Like,
- 42:36Speaker 1: if that's popping up in your neighborhood for free, don't.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I used to do a punk rock podcast called Mean
- 42:41Speaker 2: Boys and Adam went over to the shitty house we
- 42:43Speaker 2: lived in Echo Park, and I'll tell you there's still
- 42:45Speaker 2: active payphones in that neighborhood. And active payphones in this
- 42:49Speaker 2: day and age are active. Yeah, there's activity going on there.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Yeah, tell you a bad sign. If you see a payphone,
- 42:56Speaker 1: you're somewhere you probably don't want to be.
- 42:58Speaker 2: If you see someone talking in a payphone, turn around. Yeah,
- 43:03Speaker 2: respect your life.
- 43:05Speaker 1: And so you can use them to make free calls.
- 43:08Speaker 1: But you can also use these payphones to connect to
- 43:11Speaker 1: all sorts of weird things. There's an apology hotline that
- 43:16Speaker 1: was apparently set up in the seventies, very crazy.
- 43:18Speaker 2: You can just call and that doesn't that doesn't sound
- 43:21Speaker 2: like the government. Okay, well, hey, let's fucking fire that
- 43:24Speaker 2: back up that thing when we were trying to fish
- 43:25Speaker 2: for pedophiles. Let's fucking get that on board. You know.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Yeah, uh, there's the Druid of Sisyphis.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Oh that guy, he's great.
- 43:33Speaker 1: He has a blog on the company website.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Very strange, tight, yeah, yeah, mystical shit and also astrology.
- 43:40Speaker 2: You know.
- 43:41Speaker 1: One of the things you can connect to is the
- 43:44Speaker 1: Happy Valley Dream Survey and mm hmm. So that's where
- 43:50Speaker 1: Foutel and this dream survey thing become connected. And again
- 43:57Speaker 1: I'm not gonna deny for one second. This is a
- 43:59Speaker 1: weird goddam company. Oh yeah, no question about it. And
- 44:03Speaker 1: these phones they're in super random locations.
- 44:06Speaker 2: There's not many of them. The article I read was
- 44:08Speaker 2: from a few years back, but it was like there's
- 44:09Speaker 2: ten phones scattered across the country.
- 44:11Speaker 1: You know, yeah, there's not a lot of them. And
- 44:14Speaker 1: when you read about it, it has to be in
- 44:17Speaker 1: an area that has a free internet connection.
- 44:20Speaker 2: It may be routed through Wi Fi somehow, which you know,
- 44:23Speaker 2: again makes the idea of doing a drug deal on
- 44:25Speaker 2: there very conspicuous to me. You know, could be a honeypot.
- 44:29Speaker 1: So this guy in the Tales from the Dark video,
- 44:33Speaker 1: he drives one hundred and fifty three miles to Detroit
- 44:36Speaker 1: to use one of these phones, talk about a veteran
- 44:40Speaker 1: of the conspiracy theory wars there.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Most people only do that for promotional Rick and Morty sauces,
- 44:46Speaker 2: you know.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I mean he also gets there and decides the phone
- 44:50Speaker 1: is in too much of a high crime area and
- 44:52Speaker 1: that it's not safe to film a video there, so
- 44:55Speaker 1: he leaves, and then all the audio we hear is
- 44:57Speaker 1: from someone else's investigation. Which what were you expecting driving
- 45:02Speaker 1: to a place with an active payphone in Detroit?
- 45:05Speaker 2: Right, Like you can't even break out a video camera,
- 45:07Speaker 2: Like I don't know. Yeah, that pisses me off, just
- 45:11Speaker 2: because of all the wasted energy driving one hundred and
- 45:13Speaker 2: fifty miles.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I fuck with Detroit style pizza. So
- 45:18Speaker 1: if he was, oh, in town for that, but otherwise.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Little C's baby, that's Detroit style it is.
- 45:27Speaker 1: So he does include a recording of one of these videos,
- 45:32Speaker 1: and there they are a bunch of really weird options.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Like there's there's no denying that, but you have to
- 45:40Speaker 1: take into account that there's all those other weird options too.
- 45:43Speaker 2: They're all there, all through the same they're rotted through
- 45:46Speaker 2: the same mysterious, free, conspicuous odd internet payphone art service,
- 45:52Speaker 2: right like what the fuck do you make of that?
- 45:54Speaker 2: Like this network of asen nine ideas.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Yeah, the the thing about it that none of the
- 46:02Speaker 1: videos bring up, and I hate when conspiracy videos and
- 46:06Speaker 1: podcasts do this. There is more information out there about
- 46:10Speaker 1: these phones. There's an interview with the founder of this
- 46:13Speaker 1: company that was posted on the Metro Times, which is
- 46:17Speaker 1: a local Detroit news outlet, and they did an interview
- 46:21Speaker 1: with him in November twenty nineteen. The owner's named Carl Anderson.
- 46:26Speaker 1: And honestly, this sounds like an art thing, Like, Yeah,
- 46:30Speaker 1: it sounds.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Like that interview is very illuminating and it brings up
- 46:34Speaker 2: some a little bit more direct and compelling questions.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a quote from Carl Anderson. In the beginning,
- 46:41Speaker 1: I just wanted to put up a payphone because they
- 46:44Speaker 1: were disappearing. The payphone is such an interesting and important
- 46:47Speaker 1: part of urban history and hacker history, so I just
- 46:51Speaker 1: wanted to kind of play around with that and make
- 46:54Speaker 1: an art project around it to see who would use
- 46:56Speaker 1: it just for the phone itself. And I found that
- 46:59Speaker 1: a lot of people were using it, much more than
- 47:02Speaker 1: I expected. So that does seem like a pretty innocuous explanation.
- 47:07Speaker 2: And I'm dating a fine artist right now, and I've
- 47:09Speaker 2: learned a lot more about art than I ever knew.
- 47:11Speaker 2: And this is the kind of shit that people in
- 47:13Speaker 2: the modern art world do. Like, It's just it totally
- 47:17Speaker 2: sounds like something that would happen. You read his explanation,
- 47:22Speaker 2: you know, and you fucking kind of look at this
- 47:24Speaker 2: thing and all these different services and you go, this
- 47:27Speaker 2: could very well just be a guy doing this for
- 47:29Speaker 2: his own amusement, just to enjoy the different reactions to
- 47:32Speaker 2: this service that he's kind of created with, you know,
- 47:36Speaker 2: his little grassroots efforts.
- 47:38Speaker 1: And there's another part in the interview that makes it
- 47:42Speaker 1: really seem to me like it wouldn't be a government
- 47:46Speaker 1: thing because something else all these videos leave out is
- 47:49Speaker 1: one of the options on these phones is you could
- 47:51Speaker 1: call a random ice detention facility. And this was his
- 47:57Speaker 1: quote about that this is a historical moment. I like
- 48:00Speaker 1: to ask them if they're aware of what happens to
- 48:02Speaker 1: prison guards when human rights tribunals happen, and if they
- 48:06Speaker 1: have a plan for that when that day comes around.
- 48:08Speaker 1: So this guy clearly isn't supporting the government, no, And.
- 48:12Speaker 2: That's I don't even know quite what he's getting at
- 48:15Speaker 2: when he says that, But it certainly sounds very anti capitalist,
- 48:19Speaker 2: very anti government, and very sort of sincere, which could
- 48:24Speaker 2: be a smoke screen, you know, because all those ideas.
- 48:27Speaker 2: I mean, the only guy peddling him is fucking Slavo Jijak,
- 48:30Speaker 2: and they don't even let him write for The New
- 48:32Speaker 2: York Times anymore. So it's it goes back into that
- 48:35Speaker 2: crackpot bin where if you start having a serious conversation
- 48:38Speaker 2: about this as we're doing now, people go, oh my god,
- 48:41Speaker 2: who cares? Yeah, are you saying there's people dying, There's
- 48:46Speaker 2: people starving to death, getting sick and losing their lives.
- 48:50Speaker 2: You're talking about a payphone? What are you doing?
- 48:54Speaker 1: Yeah? My thing. I feel like if this was some
- 48:58Speaker 1: sort of government data collection thing or something, there'd be
- 49:02Speaker 1: more phones. Like, wait, ten phones isn't a lot. I
- 49:06Speaker 1: think what he was getting at with the Ice thing
- 49:08Speaker 1: is kind of how like we look back on the Nazis, like, yeah,
- 49:12Speaker 1: I get that some of you were just doing your job,
- 49:14Speaker 1: but you were still Nazis. You could have quit that job. Yeah,
- 49:18Speaker 1: And I think that's what he's getting at with that
- 49:20Speaker 1: quote about Ice is, Hey, you know you're just working
- 49:23Speaker 1: there doing your job. But when this becomes a human
- 49:25Speaker 1: rights thing, you're gonna be one of the people that
- 49:28Speaker 1: was murdering detainees in the eyes of history if nothing else.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Which I mean, hey, that's there's a salient point I
- 49:34Speaker 2: agree with. You know, you're a cog in one fucking
- 49:37Speaker 2: wretched machine, ain't you. I mean, I know you've got
- 49:39Speaker 2: a family to feed, But good god, bro, food stamps
- 49:42Speaker 2: are fine, and yeah, you can fucking get something. Go
- 49:47Speaker 2: you learn how to fucking go through your sales workshop
- 49:50Speaker 2: and fucking sling used cars. Like I try not to
- 49:53Speaker 2: judge anybody for how they make a living as much
- 49:56Speaker 2: as I can, but because I see, like I said,
- 49:58Speaker 2: it's a mean old world. But yeah, you know, fucking
- 50:00Speaker 2: that's a real point and the kind of thing that, yeah,
- 50:02Speaker 2: that's the kind of thing i'd fucking invest ten grand
- 50:04Speaker 2: in my money to make an art project for if
- 50:06Speaker 2: I was that kind of guy, Like sure, And people
- 50:09Speaker 2: need to talk about that. People really need to fucking
- 50:11Speaker 2: talk about that, you know, more than it's happening on
- 50:13Speaker 2: fucking the mainstream media. And as much as I hate
- 50:16Speaker 2: using that quote because it just sends your right into
- 50:18Speaker 2: Alex James Jones's cul a sac.
- 50:20Speaker 1: But yeah, and as far as the September fifth thing,
- 50:24Speaker 1: there aren't really any ties between this payphone and the
- 50:28Speaker 1: idea that the world was gonna end. There's just ties
- 50:31Speaker 1: between the payphone and the Happy Valley dream survey. But
- 50:35Speaker 1: there's like I mean again, you have to take it
- 50:37Speaker 1: in context with all the other options. It's clearly someone
- 50:41Speaker 1: trying to make the experience of getting on this phone
- 50:44Speaker 1: as weird as possible.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, something like an artist would curate, right, you know,
- 50:49Speaker 2: something that that's done very intentionally, something that is that
- 50:53Speaker 2: prompts you to engage in introspection and then you know,
- 50:57Speaker 2: physical communication with the real life, dimensional world.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Yeah, if it was some kind of surveillance thing, it
- 51:04Speaker 1: just it seems like too cumbersome of a way to go.
- 51:06Speaker 2: About it, right, And but then who knows how fucking
- 51:10Speaker 2: they're doing this shit. Maybe maybe like in the same
- 51:13Speaker 2: way they infiltrated the music community, they're infiltrating the street
- 51:17Speaker 2: art fucking grassroots sort of like conversation sparking art movement
- 51:24Speaker 2: that you know happens now with a leftist artist and
- 51:27Speaker 2: mem artists and fucking video collage people and murals and
- 51:32Speaker 2: fucking statues and performance pieces. And sure that's another fucking
- 51:37Speaker 2: honeypot for you to go. So dis information in government.
- 51:41Speaker 2: I mean, they'd almost be stupid not to. So it
- 51:44Speaker 2: brings you back to this ever fucking self eating or
- 51:47Speaker 2: aboris of insane questions.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I assume every group, movement, community, whatever in the United
- 51:55Speaker 1: States has a federal agent embedded within it.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they've I'm sure they've talked to you, Bud.
- 52:02Speaker 2: They might have reached me. I'm a smaller fish, but
- 52:03Speaker 2: I'm sure somebody for the fucking FEDS has kicked your
- 52:08Speaker 2: tires about something. I mean, you've had too many weird
- 52:10Speaker 2: interactions on the Internet. I hear them about him off Mike,
- 52:13Speaker 2: you know.
- 52:13Speaker 1: What I mean. Yeah, And with them embedding people in
- 52:18Speaker 1: groups like that, like there's not really a group small
- 52:21Speaker 1: enough that the government won't go out and like try
- 52:26Speaker 1: to you know, just like you said, kick the tires,
- 52:28Speaker 1: see what's going on. I always wonder who is the sad, sorry,
- 52:34Speaker 1: federal agent who got tasked with keeping an eye on
- 52:37Speaker 1: the like La Bar Show community to make sure, yeah,
- 52:41Speaker 1: make sure none of them get two leftists like that.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Poor guy, the guy who's at the Liquid Zoo going well, Actually,
- 52:47Speaker 2: if you listen to Adam Carolla, he makes a pretty
- 52:50Speaker 2: good point.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's got to be out there.
- 52:53Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a guy I will say if I
- 52:55Speaker 2: have to make an upper down call in this, saying
- 52:56Speaker 2: like if you put a gun to my head, sort
- 52:58Speaker 2: of a decision. I do towards this being an art project, same,
- 53:02Speaker 2: you know. Yeah, as unsatisfying as that is, as much
- 53:05Speaker 2: as I want to believe that there's an MK ultra
- 53:07Speaker 2: team who's trying to map the DMT scape or whatever
- 53:10Speaker 2: I fucking brought up earlier, with this uh web of information,
- 53:15Speaker 2: seems more just like some shit a guy that you
- 53:17Speaker 2: know had an English degree and a couple ex girlfriends
- 53:21Speaker 2: and a lot of his mom's inheritance would put together
- 53:23Speaker 2: just so he doesn't fucking go another day without eating
- 53:26Speaker 2: a gun. Right.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I assume the government is way beyond shit like
- 53:30Speaker 1: this by now.
- 53:31Speaker 2: At this point. I mean, I feel like they've got
- 53:33Speaker 2: a better system.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, they're probably just listening to our zoom
- 53:36Speaker 1: calls and yeah, being reassured that we're not we're not
- 53:41Speaker 1: picking up the trail of whatever this is. Who knows,
- 53:43Speaker 1: But it does.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Seem like an art thing to me, Yep, well, I
- 53:46Speaker 2: suppose there's our MythBusters up and down confirmed. Are there
- 53:49Speaker 2: we have any other loose ends in this tail? Adam TB.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Not really. I think we I think we got it.
- 53:56Speaker 1: I think we we got a sewed.
- 53:58Speaker 2: We got a sewd. Man. Well, it was a very
- 54:00Speaker 2: interesting deep dive. I enjoyed reading all of it. And
- 54:04Speaker 2: this is one of those conspiracies where it doesn't so
- 54:07Speaker 2: much make you worry about the world, but it does
- 54:09Speaker 2: demand some compelling introspection and critical thought, and I enjoyed.
- 54:14Speaker 2: I enjoyed playing around in that whole jungle gym trying
- 54:16Speaker 2: to see what this thing was about.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Yeah, like I wish it. I wish there was more
- 54:21Speaker 1: to it. I wish I looked into this and it
- 54:23Speaker 1: was a little more nefarious. But also there's so much
- 54:27Speaker 1: evil in the world right now, Like.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Sometimes you just got to talk about how Elvis is
- 54:31Speaker 2: still alive.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Baby someday this whole podcast is just every episode is
- 54:36Speaker 1: going to be about compelling proof that Elvis didn't die
- 54:40Speaker 1: in the seventies.
- 54:41Speaker 2: I almost like that as it. And I don't know
- 54:43Speaker 2: if we've ever officially named the fan base, but I
- 54:45Speaker 2: would like to just say like Elvis Truther has such
- 54:47Speaker 2: a great ring to it when you coin that phrase.
- 54:50Speaker 2: I've never stopped thinking about it that it always makes
- 54:52Speaker 2: me laugh and I fucking by the end of that episode,
- 54:55Speaker 2: I was a fucking Elvis truth truth to myself.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I stand by it. I don't think he died
- 55:00Speaker 1: on the toilet. So yeah, that's our episode. What do
- 55:03Speaker 1: we have to plug before we get out of here?
