Speaker 5: Our good friend Marjorie Cook from Advantage Valleys here. How
• 2:17
Speaker 5: you doing, Marjorie, I'm doing great, Thanks for having show.
• 2:20
Speaker 5: How are you I'm doing? Foine, Welcome to the new DIGS.
• 2:22
Speaker 3: You've not been in the nstio been in here since March,
• 2:25
Speaker 3: and we kind of like it.
• 2:27
Speaker 5: We kind of like it looks fantastic. All right.
• 2:30
Speaker 3: So before we get in and you were here to
• 2:32
Speaker 3: talk about something specific with the Dvantage Valley, we're going
• 2:34
Speaker 3: to get to that here momentarily talk about your work
• 2:36
Speaker 3: with Advantage Valley overall, then we'll get to this specific thing.
• 2:39
  Speaker 5: Sure well.
• 2:40
Speaker 6: Advantage Valley. For those who may not know, we are
• 2:42
Speaker 6: a regional economic development nonprofit and my role within the
• 2:47
Speaker 6: organization is to be the marketer and communicator, so I
• 2:52
Speaker 6: tell the story of what we are doing. But we
• 2:55
Speaker 6: are in the business of business attraction to the region,
• 3:00
Speaker 6: business retention, working with existing businesses, and also we have
• 3:04
Speaker 6: a thriving entrepreneurship program. So some of my marketing is global,
• 3:09
Speaker 6: some of my marketing is here local talking about local
• 3:13
Speaker 6: food producers, which is what I'm going to talk about today.
• 3:17
Speaker 6: And so generally we have a small staff and we
• 3:19
Speaker 6: partner with so many organizations, but first and foremost the
• 3:23
Speaker 6: local economic development authorities in a nine county region including Boone, Cabal, Clay, Jackson, Canal, Lincoln, Mason, Putnam,
• 3:32
  Speaker 6: and Wayne.
• 3:33
Speaker 3: I like that because sometimes we think about advantage Valley
• 3:35
Speaker 3: and I have you know, Cheryl Ellison, have had you
• 3:37
Speaker 3: folks on and other people with the organization, and when
• 3:40
Speaker 3: you say the valley, everybody just thinks, Wow, it's it's
• 3:43
Speaker 3: stuff in Charleston, which it is, and it's stuff in
• 3:45
Speaker 3: Putnam County for example, which it is.
• 3:46
Speaker 5: But nine counties in this thing.
• 3:48
Speaker 6: Right, we stretch. We consider it the two metro regions
• 3:52
Speaker 6: including Huntington and Charleston, the two largest you know, cities
• 3:55
Speaker 6: in the state and the largest GDP and the largest population.
• 4:00
Speaker 3: So what's been keeping you We'll get to this, But
• 4:02
Speaker 3: other than the taste of apple accha, which is what
• 4:04
Speaker 3: we're going to get to here moment, you other what's
• 4:05
Speaker 3: been keeping you busy here lately?
• 4:07
Speaker 6: Well, our entrepreneurship program is booming. We have multiple events upcoming.
• 4:13
Speaker 6: So I'm promoting a couple business certification workshops, one upcoming
• 4:18
Speaker 6: in Maine in Mason County and one in Putnam County.
• 4:22
Speaker 6: And we this week, in fact, it's tonight, we have
• 4:25
Speaker 6: a Claim Your Listing virtual event and Sasha Strader is
• 4:31
Speaker 6: one of our business coaches and she will help folks
• 4:34
Speaker 6: use a free marketing tool how to get out there
• 4:36
Speaker 6: on Google, Yelp and Google Maps to make sure your
• 4:39
Speaker 6: business is seen and heard and you've got accurate information.
• 4:43
Speaker 5: So log in tonight, yes, about how do people? How
• 4:47
Speaker 5: do people log into this tonight?
• 4:49
Speaker 6: Tonight? You can hit our website and which is Advantage
• 4:53
Speaker 6: Valley dot com and head to the Faster West Virginia
• 4:56
Speaker 6: page and the details are there.
• 4:58
Speaker 3: All right, So you're here to talk what about Tastes
• 5:00
Speaker 3: of Appalachia? You had me at taste so, uh so
• 5:04
Speaker 3: what does this state talk about?
• 5:06
  Speaker 6: It?
• 5:06
  Speaker 2: It is?
• 5:07
Speaker 6: This is a new initiative. It's the first time we've
• 5:09
Speaker 6: ever done this, and it is a program designed to
• 5:12
Speaker 6: support growth and market expansion of local food producers this
• 5:17
Speaker 6: holiday season. Breaking that down that means we have curated
• 5:22
Speaker 6: carefully eight holiday gift boxes that are available for sale.
• 5:29
Speaker 6: You can pick them up, you can have them shipped,
• 5:31
Speaker 6: and they showcase some of the best of our Advantage
• 5:36
Speaker 6: Valley region we do have. They're all West Virginia producers.
• 5:40
Speaker 6: We have seventeen food vendors from nine different counties. Some
• 5:44
Speaker 6: stretch a little bit outside of Advantage Valley, but we
• 5:48
Speaker 6: have put together themed gift boxes for folks to give
• 5:52
Speaker 6: this holiday. The key is Dave that the We only
• 5:56
Speaker 6: have eight days left.
• 5:57
Speaker 5: Okay, okay, our orders are.
• 5:59
Speaker 6: Open and hill October seventeenth. But we have an incredible
• 6:04
Speaker 6: lineup of featured vendors and we are working with the
• 6:09
Speaker 6: partner with the Department of Agriculture. They're helping us pack
• 6:12
Speaker 6: some of the boxes. But we are thrilled. You know
• 6:16
Speaker 6: how at the holiday season there's always a push to
• 6:19
Speaker 6: buy local. This is the option to buy local. But
• 6:23
Speaker 6: we will help with your holiday gift giving. In fact,
• 6:27
Speaker 6: I ordered mine or I were one of my five
• 6:30
Speaker 6: this morning because I didn't feel like I could come
• 6:32
Speaker 6: on the show if I hadn't put for sure put
• 6:34
Speaker 6: my money where my mouth is. So I'd love to
• 6:37
Speaker 6: share if you'd let me these vendors.
• 6:39
Speaker 3: Now, look, if I start chewing on this new microphone here,
• 6:42
Speaker 3: then that's on you because you know this stuff's not
• 6:45
Speaker 3: paid for yet, so a lot of you get all
• 6:47
Speaker 3: droolie here because I'm looking at the flyer that you
• 6:49
Speaker 3: brought in and everything from breakfast to snacks to cocktails,
• 6:53
  Speaker 3: sweet and salty.
• 6:54
Speaker 5: So yeah, let's go over there.
• 6:55
Speaker 6: Yes, yes, well we have of the eight boxes, we
• 6:59
Speaker 6: have something called the West Virginia Favorites, and that includes
• 7:03
Speaker 6: I'll just give some details here, JQ. Dickinson Salt. We
• 7:07
Speaker 6: all love that Coal River Coffee, Dark Hollow Foods, Artisans sauce.
• 7:13
Speaker 6: Apparently this has a cult following Tipsy ruse plastered peach,
• 7:17
Speaker 6: barbecue sauce, fantastic sugar, Bottom farms with a raw wildflower
• 7:22
Speaker 6: honey they're out of Clay County, and Legacy Foods, apple cider,
• 7:27
Speaker 6: vinaigrette dressing, fantastic products.
• 7:30
Speaker 5: So that that's just one. But that's just the West
• 7:32
Speaker 5: Virginia Favorite, just the West.
• 7:33
Speaker 6: Virginia Favorite box, and that costs fifty five dollars. Our
• 7:37
Speaker 6: boxes range from twenty nine dollars up to fifty five.
• 7:41
Speaker 6: And in addition to those vendors, we have let's see,
• 7:45
Speaker 6: who did I not mention? Rock Family Farm from Lincoln County,
• 7:49
Speaker 6: Heinerman Hill Farm, Ordinary, Evelyn's. You've probably heard of some
• 7:53
Speaker 6: of these sassy gals, Blue Smoke Salsa, Jumpin' Johnny's, Dark
• 7:58
Speaker 6: Hollow Foods. I mentioned them, Copperhead, Bloody Mary Mix, jar
• 8:01
Speaker 6: Head Farms with a Peach cocktail, mocktail syrup, Harvest Trails, Freeze,
• 8:07
Speaker 6: dried Oranges, Tasty Blend, and Deskin Candy out of Mason
• 8:12
Speaker 6: Candy and Mason County County.
• 8:14
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's good stuff.
• 8:15
Speaker 3: And I'll tell you you know, this would be good
• 8:18
Speaker 3: for so many different people. I'm thinking like a you know,
• 8:22
Speaker 3: a business that wants to buy several of these to
• 8:25
Speaker 3: give to their their customers, their vendors or whatever, and
• 8:29
Speaker 3: to really show off West Virginia here because you talk
• 8:31
Speaker 3: about those products. I mean, those products are products that
• 8:34
Speaker 3: yeah they're West Virginia, but they got a nationwide in
• 8:38
Speaker 3: many cases a worldwide following. I mean West Virginia Snack Attack.
• 8:44
Speaker 3: That's that's got the coach. You've got to have, mister
• 8:46
Speaker 3: B's in there. The veteran made I love that. Yeah,
• 8:49
Speaker 3: you one that's all veteran made.
• 8:51
Speaker 6: You got veteran made producers. And we want to highlight
• 8:54
Speaker 6: these producers. Our ultimate goal is to promote and support
• 8:58
Speaker 6: local businesses, creating more visibility for their products and providing
• 9:03
Speaker 6: a platform for market expansion and scaling. Because some of
• 9:07
Speaker 6: these folks, you know, we are first order Dave if
• 9:10
Speaker 6: you can believe, it was for seven hundred boxes nice
• 9:14
Speaker 6: and we are up to nine hundred and sixty eight
• 9:17
Speaker 6: as of this morning. But this means the world to them,
• 9:21
Speaker 6: sure for the worth order to have an order of
• 9:24
Speaker 6: seven hundred of their best product or one of their
• 9:27
Speaker 6: unique products. So we help entrepreneurs in our in our
• 9:32
Speaker 6: programming right, So we have you know, three business coaches
• 9:36
Speaker 6: we you know, bring new people into the program. We
• 9:39
Speaker 6: often work with startups, but we've got some food producers
• 9:43
Speaker 6: that are doing some amazing things and we are really
• 9:45
Speaker 6: trying to help them scale.
• 9:47
Speaker 5: Looking at some of the other ones here the Sweet
• 9:48
Speaker 5: and Salty that's got the JQ.
• 9:52
Speaker 3: Dickinson airloom salve, but it's also got burnt caramel sauce.
• 9:55
Speaker 6: Yes, well, we all love JAQU Dickinson and they hosted
• 9:59
Speaker 6: a special kickoff event for us in September, and we
• 10:02
Speaker 6: wanted a box dedicated to them because they do such
• 10:06
Speaker 6: phenomenal work. So they have a model that a lot
• 10:09
Speaker 6: of these other smaller producers can look to and grow.
• 10:12
Speaker 6: But that is our sweet and Salty box. And I
• 10:16
Speaker 6: had some of that burnt caramel sauce last night.
• 10:18
Speaker 5: I'm gonna admit, oh really, and you're in The verdict.
• 10:21
Speaker 6: Was oh over ice cream, it's the best, absolutely.
• 10:25
Speaker 3: And you know an apple acchia. We love breakfast at
• 10:27
Speaker 3: any time, breakfast for dinner or whatever. We get this
• 10:29
Speaker 3: breakfast essential. It comes with Tade's Valley Biscuit Mix, Legacy Foods, Apple,
• 10:34
Speaker 3: butter Rock Family Maple syrup, the Coal River Coffee's Wild
• 10:38
Speaker 3: and Wonderful Roast, the Hinerman Hills Family Sour Dough pancake mix,
• 10:42
Speaker 3: and also their granola. And as we said, there's just
• 10:46
Speaker 3: so many of these different things available. How do you
• 10:48
Speaker 3: go about getting the West Virginia companies to take part
• 10:53
  Speaker 3: in this?
• 10:53
Speaker 6: Well, we have done our human's effort to try to
• 10:58
Speaker 6: alert corporations that this would be perfect gift to give
• 11:01
Speaker 6: to your best clients and have in the break room.
• 11:05
Speaker 6: You can reach an order through our website if you're
• 11:10
Speaker 6: placing a smaller order, which the website is Taste of
• 11:14
Speaker 6: Appalachia dot com. Pretty simple. We hope there's going to
• 11:18
Speaker 6: be a crash on the website now with all these
• 11:20
Speaker 6: people signing in. We hope and if there, if a
• 11:24
Speaker 6: corporation is listening and they like would like to make
• 11:26
Speaker 6: an order of ten or more, we encourage you to
• 11:30
Speaker 6: contact Rachel Kaufman and she is at three oh four
• 11:35
Speaker 6: five four nine eight nine nine to one, or call
• 11:39
Speaker 6: the Advantage Valley offices and we will take a bulk.
• 11:42
  Speaker 5: Order for you.
• 11:43
Speaker 3: And I'm looking at you know, at your flyer that
• 11:45
Speaker 3: you provided me with here. And there's so many other
• 11:47
Speaker 3: companies that have helped out with this, you know that
• 11:49
Speaker 3: are part of Marshall University, Westbanco, Western You Manufacturers Association,
• 11:54
Speaker 3: Bowls Rise, Charles Neir Alliance, Western Executive Magazine, Putnam County
• 11:59
Speaker 3: UH Chamber of Commerce. I'm just mentioning a couple of
• 12:01
Speaker 3: those there there, because can't do this stuff if you
• 12:03
Speaker 3: don't have these other partners in.
• 12:04
Speaker 6: They exactly thank you for mentioning that, Dave. We did
• 12:07
Speaker 6: with our kickoff event, we had a full day eleven
• 12:11
Speaker 6: to four showcasing of the products, and so these vendors
• 12:15
Speaker 6: were out there giving samples. We wanted folks to taste,
• 12:18
Speaker 6: you know, before buying. But like you said, some of
• 12:21
Speaker 6: these are our already favorites. But we also had a
• 12:24
Speaker 6: cocktail event and the whole day we did have a
• 12:28
Speaker 6: wonderful array of corporate sponsors helping us out. So thank
• 12:33
Speaker 6: you for mentioning those.
• 12:34
Speaker 3: And we want to make sure that people know that
• 12:35
Speaker 3: if you are going to order these things, they are
• 12:37
Speaker 3: due October the seventeenth.
• 12:40
Speaker 6: Yes, so it's order now. And these boxes are to
• 12:44
Speaker 6: be shipped the week after Thanksgiving, so we're talking early
• 12:48
Speaker 6: holiday gifts. And but you have to do it now
• 12:51
Speaker 6: so I can. This is a great time to buy
• 12:54
Speaker 6: and be done with some of those you know.
• 12:56
Speaker 3: You ever thought about doing, like the QVC thing, because
• 12:59
Speaker 3: I thank you my be good at it.
• 13:01
Speaker 5: Yeah, but wait, there's more.
• 13:03
Speaker 6: I'll just say when we have shared this idea with folks,
• 13:07
Speaker 6: the concept of uplifting our local producers and all of
• 13:12
Speaker 6: us can participate in economic development if we buy this way,
• 13:16
Speaker 6: we support our people. And once people get that, they
• 13:20
Speaker 6: kind of get the chills and they say, I want
• 13:22
Speaker 6: to be a part of that.
• 13:23
Speaker 5: At this give us the website, social media, whatever else
• 13:26
  Speaker 5: you get.
• 13:26
Speaker 6: There are eight more days to shop, so I encourage
• 13:28
Speaker 6: you to go to Taste of Appalachia dot com. And again,
• 13:33
Speaker 6: if you have a larger order, give us a call
• 13:35
Speaker 6: and we will put you in touch with one of
• 13:37
Speaker 6: two people who can help you literally upload a spreadsheet
• 13:41
Speaker 6: of addresses where you need to have those boxes shipped.
• 13:44
Speaker 6: Or we also have a pickup option if you want
• 13:47
Speaker 6: to give these gifts and pass them out to your
• 13:50
Speaker 6: client's hand delivered, which is a nice touch. I will say,
• 13:55
Speaker 6: but I just love this program, and I love these vendors,
• 13:59
Speaker 6: and I'm just thrilled to be able to support them.
• 14:01
Speaker 6: And I'll tell you we had one vendor who all
• 14:04
Speaker 6: of a sudden we gave them an order of seven
• 14:06
Speaker 6: hundred and fifty of their product and they were beside them.
• 14:09
Speaker 5: Sure, yeah, wouldn't you be Yeah?
• 14:12
Speaker 6: He also said, now how many how many weeks time?
• 14:15
Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, It's like, you know, okay, somebody's got to
• 14:18
Speaker 3: pull this thing off. But I'm sure that they'll do
• 14:20
Speaker 3: just fine with it. Marjorie, it is a pleasure as
• 14:22
Speaker 3: always to have you on the show and the great
• 14:25
Speaker 3: work that the Vantage Value folks are doing, and this
• 14:28
Speaker 3: is a great program helping out West Virginia companies.
• 14:30
Speaker 5: It's great stuff. I appreciate you being.
• 14:32
Speaker 6: Well, thank you so much, Dave for having us, and
• 14:33
Speaker 6: I forgot to bring you a box.
• 14:35
Speaker 5: But I'm going to.
• 14:35
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, that's going to that's not required, but
• 14:38
Speaker 3: I'm just I'm allowed to do that. Well, yeah, of
• 14:40
Speaker 3: course you again, it's not like Payola the nineteen fifties.
• 14:42
Speaker 3: You know, I'm not playing records for you in here.
• 14:44
Speaker 3: Whatever I can, I can sample it and may maybe
• 14:47
Speaker 3: share it, maybe exactly the couple of these boxes, I'm
• 14:49
Speaker 3: gona tell you what they ain't getting shared. If I

Speaker 7: of course, depends on your injuries, liability and the damages

Speaker 7: to you financially, and it also very much depends on

Speaker 5: Ain't nobody. I'm well about you, Dave. I am doing fine.

Speaker 5: Thanks for being here.
• 17:39
Speaker 3: We're not gonna talk sports, you and I because if

  Speaker 3: I couldn't resist. Got a light in the mood a

• 17:54
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, No, it's it's it is what it is.
• 17:57
Speaker 5: That's all we can say. Yeah, all right, So what's
• 18:00
Speaker 5: on your mind today? You've got something you want to
• 18:02
  Speaker 5: tell us?
• 18:03
Speaker 10: Yeah, Dave, So, I again appreciate being here, and you
• 18:06
Speaker 10: were talking about homecoming. It's not what I want to
• 18:08
Speaker 10: talk about. But never forget that. Saint Aums's homecoming game
• 18:11
Speaker 10: is tomorrow evening and we've got a homecoming parade this
• 18:14
Speaker 10: afternoon at six o'clock, so folks, don't forget about that.
• 18:18
Speaker 10: But I'd like to be the tell you and your
• 18:22
Speaker 10: listeners first that I will be a candidate for the
• 18:26
Speaker 10: Kenall County Commission in the Republican primary in the twenty
• 18:32
Speaker 10: twenty sixth election this upcoming May. I come here as
• 18:38
Speaker 10: a lifelong Connall County and born and raised here in
• 18:41
Speaker 10: Saint Albans, son of a law enforcement officer, Marine Corps veteran,
• 18:46
Speaker 10: and love this county as I always have loved my hometown.
• 18:53
Speaker 10: And when Commissioner Lance Wheeler, who has decided to run
• 18:57
Speaker 10: for the States Senate and District eight, and we wish
• 18:59
Speaker 10: him the best luck, I had several people reach out
• 19:03
Speaker 10: and say, you know, you've done some positive things in
• 19:05
Speaker 10: the city of Saint Albans, would you be interested and
• 19:07
Speaker 10: maybe looking at the County Commission and to doing some
• 19:12
Speaker 10: research and thoughts and prayers and speaking to friends and
• 19:15
Speaker 10: family it is something that I'm going to do. You know,
• 19:19
Speaker 10: I want to focus our county. I want to focus
• 19:24
Speaker 10: on having positive public safety messaging and working with Sheriff
• 19:29
Speaker 10: Joey Crawford and Prosecutor deb Russneck.
• 19:32
Speaker 5: You know, we have.
• 19:32
Speaker 10: Issues in the county with with drugs on and off
• 19:36
Speaker 10: the streets. We're going to continue to look at that,
• 19:38
Speaker 10: and both Joey and Dev have done great things with that.
• 19:42
Speaker 10: I also want to work with both of them on
• 19:44
Speaker 10: school safety. Our children is our most important asset that
• 19:48
Speaker 10: we have in our county, and we have to make
• 19:50
Speaker 10: sure that they're protected at all costs. Also want to
• 19:53
Speaker 10: look at economic development. We want to make sure that
• 19:56
Speaker 10: we have jobs, new jobs, great jobs for people to
• 20:01
Speaker 10: move here. We want people to come from not only
• 20:04
Speaker 10: other parts of West Virginia out of state to Kanall County.
• 20:08
Speaker 10: Make sure they have places to do and continue to
• 20:10
Speaker 10: promote sports tourism. That's huge for me. Look at what's
• 20:14
Speaker 10: happened with the trails and Meadowood Park and what's happened
• 20:19
Speaker 10: to Shawnee. You know, the Knall County Commission took what
• 20:22
Speaker 10: was a failing golf course. And I say that bias
• 20:24
Speaker 10: because obviously I love to play golf, play a lot
• 20:27
Speaker 10: of golf of Shawnee, but everywhere on the Struggle Bus
• 20:29
Speaker 10: and turn that into a great recreation center. One I
• 20:33
Speaker 10: used very frequently to play pickleball, just to go walk
• 20:36
Speaker 10: and it's a great thing. I want to continue what
• 20:38
Speaker 10: the good work that President Selango Commission Wheeler Commission Attendant
• 20:42
Speaker 10: has done on bringing sports tourism to Kanall County and
• 20:47
Speaker 10: also just to improve and work on the quality of
• 20:50
Speaker 10: life here. As I said earlier, we want people to
• 20:52
Speaker 10: move here, we want people to enjoy their time in
• 20:55
Speaker 10: Kanall County, and you do that. I want to double
• 20:59
Speaker 10: the efforts of what the Kennall County Commission. I'll be
• 21:01
Speaker 10: the first say they do a great job and dealing
• 21:05
Speaker 10: with dilapidata structures, tearing those play those dilapidata structures down.
• 21:09
Speaker 5: That also, you know that that's.
• 21:11
Speaker 10: Kind of a issue where you have a crime take
• 21:15
Speaker 10: place at those dilapidata structures. If we can take some
• 21:18
Speaker 10: more of those down promote economic growth in those areas,
• 21:23
Speaker 10: I think that we're going to continue to succeed as
• 21:26
Speaker 10: a county. And I would like to bring that experience
• 21:29
Speaker 10: that i've I have as a municipal government as well
• 21:33
Speaker 10: as working in state government to the County Commission, and
• 21:37
Speaker 10: I think we can we can do great things for
• 21:39
  Speaker 10: the county.
• 21:39
Speaker 3: Talking to Jared Page again who announced he is going
• 21:41
Speaker 3: to be running for County Commission next year, what do
• 21:45
Speaker 3: you bring to the table as far as your background,
• 21:47
Speaker 3: give us a little bit of your bio.
• 21:49
Speaker 10: Yes, sir, so, I have currently your Saint Alban's vice
• 21:53
Speaker 10: mayor as you said earlier, and also councilmen at large
• 21:57
Speaker 10: and past life I was also are the Saints municipal judge. Yeah,
• 22:02
Speaker 10: I have undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of
• 22:04
Speaker 10: Charleston and and multiple things. And so I've been able
• 22:10
Speaker 10: to work in the city of Saint Albans in all
• 22:14
Speaker 10: of these areas, you know, talking about public safety as
• 22:17
Speaker 10: a municipal judge, willing actually working directly with Prosecutor Rusnak
• 22:23
Speaker 10: as well as Prosecutor Miller and and and and trying
• 22:27
Speaker 10: to clean up our streets of Saint Albans uh as
• 22:30
Speaker 10: lot as well as our school resource officer and obviously,
• 22:35
  Speaker 10: like I said, our sheriff's kind of a Saint Aubin's
• 22:38
Speaker 10: staple as well. And so bring that experience UH economic development.
• 22:44
Speaker 10: One of my key pieces of legislation that I've been
• 22:47
Speaker 10: able to pass on as a councilman is an economic
• 22:51
Speaker 10: development driven UH item for our for our Main Street area.
• 22:57
Speaker 10: I've had multiple individuals on Main Street come up to
• 23:00
Speaker 10: me and say, we've made more money this way because
• 23:03
Speaker 10: of this bill that we were able to or this
• 23:05
Speaker 10: ordinance that we were able to pass. So I want
• 23:07
Speaker 10: to continue to drive that and give our citizens more
• 23:09
Speaker 10: opportunities to uh to to to to shop, to enjoy things.
• 23:16
Speaker 10: And UH I really am going to UH work on
• 23:20
Speaker 10: the dilapidata structure. That's something that as a council person,
• 23:24
Speaker 10: I was able to uh to to sponsor and pass
• 23:27
Speaker 10: a land reuse ordinance so that way we can create
• 23:31
Speaker 10: our own land reuse agency. And I have experienced in
• 23:34
Speaker 10: all three of those fields. I've done it on a
• 23:36
Speaker 10: municipal level. I've worked with individuals. I have great relationships
• 23:41
Speaker 10: with our our state representatives as well as our federal
• 23:45
Speaker 10: representatives too, and we've I've been able to work on
• 23:50
Speaker 10: dilapidata structure properties in the city to promote growth. And
• 23:53
Speaker 10: I want to bring all that experience and relationships from
• 23:56
Speaker 10: top to bottom to our County commission.
• 23:59
Speaker 3: DOCI Page again, who has announced he will be running
• 24:02
Speaker 3: for County Commission here in Kanaw County. The Dave Island
• 24:06
Speaker 3: Show on five of d Line Brown Too, a part
• 24:07
Speaker 3: by Morgan and Morgan with more than twenty billion dollars recovered.
• 24:10
Speaker 3: They believe that when you're injured, you deserve more. Morgan
• 24:12
Speaker 3: and Morgan America's largest injury law firm. So what's the
• 24:15
  Speaker 3: plan for the campaign? I mean, I mean it's a
• 24:17
Speaker 3: little early to announcement.
• 24:18
  Speaker 5: That's okay.
• 24:19
Speaker 3: People just do it earlier and earlier, and I guess
• 24:20
Speaker 3: that's something you have to do these days. But what's
• 24:23
Speaker 3: your attack plan for the campaign?
• 24:25
Speaker 10: Well, it may be a little early, but I feel
• 24:27
Speaker 10: at this point, like I said, it's a little actually
• 24:29
  Speaker 10: a little late.
• 24:31
  Speaker 5: You know.
• 24:32
Speaker 10: The plan today is will be filing official paperwork today
• 24:35
Speaker 10: at four pm at the County Courthouse, County Clerk's office,
• 24:40
Speaker 10: and I will be accompanied by Commissioner Lance Wheeler, Sheriff
• 24:44
Speaker 10: Joe Crawford, and Prosecutor Deb Russnack to show their strong
• 24:48
Speaker 10: support and endorsement of my candidacy. And we're just going
• 24:52
Speaker 10: to hit the ground running. We're going to start a
• 24:54
Speaker 10: county wide listing tour, going around meeting individuals from across
• 24:58
Speaker 10: the county, listen to what their concerns are. You know,
• 25:03
Speaker 10: not all areas in Kanall County have the same the
• 25:06
Speaker 10: concerns are same issues, and I really want to be
• 25:10
Speaker 10: someone who is accessible from everywhere, from Saint Albans to
• 25:13
Speaker 10: Elkview to Campbell's Creek. I throw Campbell's Creek in being
• 25:17
Speaker 10: a father's side of the families from Campbell's Creek. Spent
• 25:20
Speaker 10: a lot of time there, so I'm a kind of
• 25:22
Speaker 10: a half Creaker, but all across the county, be visible,
• 25:26
Speaker 10: be able to talk to people and learn what really
• 25:29
Speaker 10: the issues are. I've spent a lot of time across
• 25:31
Speaker 10: the county over the years, and I think I've got
• 25:35
Speaker 10: a decent understanding. But it's important to me to listen
• 25:39
Speaker 10: to others and to act on their needs and wants.
• 25:43
Speaker 3: And you know, the thing about Kanawa County is Canada
• 25:45
Speaker 3: County's the largest county in the state and it's a
• 25:47
  Speaker 3: very diverse county.
• 25:48
Speaker 5: And all of the county commissioners, I think, as you
• 25:50
Speaker 5: said they do it. They do a great job. The
• 25:52
Speaker 5: citting county commissioners and these ones in the past.
• 25:54
Speaker 3: Have you know, there's a lot of commonality I guess
• 25:58
Speaker 3: on certain issues, but you know, some of the issues
• 26:01
Speaker 3: that maybe Downtown Charleston faces may not be the same
• 26:04
Speaker 3: as Campbell's Creek faces. So there's there's some similarities. But
• 26:07
Speaker 3: you got to do a good job of being out
• 26:09
Speaker 3: there and figuring out well, Okay, well we tried. We
• 26:12
Speaker 3: got this issue in a tornado, but it's not necessarily
• 26:16
Speaker 3: the same as an issue we've got in South Charleston.
• 26:18
Speaker 3: So you've got to kind of put all these things together.
• 26:20
  Speaker 10: Yes, you do, and I think that's why I'm a
• 26:25
Speaker 10: kind of a unique candidate in this in this race,
• 26:28
Speaker 10: and will as the campaign goes on, We'll be dropping
• 26:31
Speaker 10: endorsements and supports later from across the county. But I've
• 26:34
Speaker 10: gathered support early on from individuals from literally every area
• 26:40
Speaker 10: of Kenall County, and it's it's been beneficial to learn
• 26:44
Speaker 10: about those concerns, because, like you say, an issue in
• 26:46
Speaker 10: Nitro may not be the same as one in Marmette
• 26:51
Speaker 10: or Bell or Sissonville. But you know, there are some
• 26:56
Speaker 10: things that are consistent. And one of the things I
• 26:58
Speaker 10: want to look at is, you know, Raleigh County just passed.
• 27:03
Speaker 10: The Rowley County Commission just passed as a county wide
• 27:06
Speaker 10: panhandling ordinance. This is something I would like to look
• 27:09
Speaker 10: at the can offer as as a potential commissioner to
• 27:14
Speaker 10: for Kennall County. You know, you look at Cross Lanes
• 27:17
Speaker 10: for example, that's a very busy area.
• 27:20
  Speaker 5: Of Cross Vegas.
• 27:21
Speaker 10: Yes, Cross Vegas, Cross Vegas, and it's a very busy
• 27:25
Speaker 10: area of our county. And it's been a pleasure of
• 27:27
Speaker 10: mine to work with Delegate Shamblain and discuss with him
• 27:30
Speaker 10: the issues going on with with the road construction and
• 27:33
Speaker 10: all that and Cross Lane. But look, you know, cross
• 27:36
Speaker 10: Lane's unincorporated area. You have people uh there that are
• 27:41
Speaker 10: you know, constantly on the streets and it's a safety hazard.
• 27:45
Speaker 10: It's a safety hazard not only for them, but as
• 27:47
Speaker 10: a safety hazard for those in traffic. And when you're
• 27:50
Speaker 10: already having a nuisance traffic issue that causing delays consistently,
• 27:56
Speaker 10: you don't need to have more. And so this is
• 28:00
Speaker 10: that's just one of the few things that you know,
• 28:01
Speaker 10: sure that's one specific area, but that could be beneficial
• 28:04
Speaker 10: across the county. Obviously, city ordinances, you know that they
• 28:08
Speaker 10: have their own if it within city unincorporated area, but
• 28:12
Speaker 10: for those that are an unincorporated area, I think this
• 28:15
Speaker 10: is something important to look at for the safety of all.
• 28:18
Speaker 3: So what's as I said that you were going to
• 28:22
Speaker 3: you know, hit the campaign trail running, You're going to
• 28:24
Speaker 3: go door to door, You're going to do meet the
• 28:26
Speaker 3: candidate's things, a little bit of everything.
• 28:28
Speaker 10: I will be doing a little bit of everything.
• 28:30
  Speaker 11: You know.
• 28:31
Speaker 10: I've already I went to Nitro this past Friday to
• 28:35
Speaker 10: their homecoming football game. I met a lot of people,
• 28:39
Speaker 10: I saw a lot of old friends, and you know,
• 28:43
Speaker 10: I'm want to be hitting the trail that this Friday,
• 28:45
Speaker 10: be at our our Saint Amans homecoming football game against
• 28:49
Speaker 10: South Charleston. Hopefully Sat AM's get that first big win
• 28:54
  Speaker 10: this this uh Friday. I think there's a there's hopefully
• 28:58
Speaker 10: a chance, you know. But you know, I'll be hitting
• 29:01
Speaker 10: door to door, be going next week. I'll be at
• 29:04
Speaker 10: Cistonville a few nights, but I'm going to be across
• 29:07
Speaker 10: the county. I'm want to be very visible when campaigning
• 29:10
Speaker 10: before for city council, I was at every event, not
• 29:15
Speaker 10: just all here. I am waving and all that, but
• 29:17
Speaker 10: I like to talk to people and you know me.
• 29:19
  Speaker 5: Others know me.
• 29:20
Speaker 10: I try to be approachable. I want and I welcome disagreement.
• 29:24
Speaker 10: I'm welcome someone talking to me that that may not
• 29:28
Speaker 10: necessarily be a supporter of mine or may be unsure.
• 29:31
Speaker 5: I'll welcome that because.
• 29:32
Speaker 10: It makes us better, and it makes us us better
• 29:35
Speaker 10: not only as candidates, but as human beings. And I
• 29:40
Speaker 10: want to be everywhere. I'm going to be hitting the doors,
• 29:42
Speaker 10: hitting the praide, hitting all that. I'll definitely be going
• 29:45
Speaker 10: to every city council meeting. I will be meeting with
• 29:48
Speaker 10: all municipal mayors, you know someone. I'm a a board
• 29:52
Speaker 10: member of the West Virginia Municipal League. I think it's
• 29:54
Speaker 10: important as a potential county commissioner for county commissions to
• 29:59
Speaker 10: meet with our municipal lead leaders as well as our
• 30:01
Speaker 10: state representatives. As I said earlier, I've worked at the
• 30:05
Speaker 10: state level for for many years now, and I have
• 30:07
Speaker 10: tremendous relationships with our constitutional officers and our members of
• 30:13
Speaker 10: our West Virginia Senate and West Virginia House of Delegates.
• 30:16
Speaker 10: And I'll be meeting with them, see what their concerns are, uh,
• 30:21
Speaker 10: and just build relationships. That's what I think is most
• 30:24
Speaker 10: important when it comes to public services, building relationship, building trust,
• 30:29
Speaker 10: and that way you can work together and do what's

Speaker 10: best for Kennwall County.
• 30:34
Speaker 5: Well, Jared, we wish you the best of luck.
• 30:36
Speaker 3: We'll have you on again, but I did have Can
• 30:40
Speaker 3: you take one text about Saint Albans because it was
• 30:43
Speaker 3: just a question, why does Saint Albins have their homecoming
• 30:46
Speaker 3: parade the day before the game? Is in the two
• 30:47
Speaker 3: hours before the kickoff?
• 30:49
Speaker 10: That has been a tradition when I was in homecoming court.
• 30:52
Speaker 10: Believe it or not, I was popular back in the
• 30:54
Speaker 10: day I was. I was homecoming court all through throughout school.
• 30:57
Speaker 10: It's always done before the before what sat And essentially
• 31:03
Speaker 10: it's different than other communities because our football field is
• 31:07
Speaker 10: not locally, is not downtown or near the school, and
• 31:11
Speaker 10: so it's kind of hard to do the parade route
• 31:13
Speaker 10: to the football stadium. But there will be a tailgate
• 31:17
Speaker 10: before at Crawford Field. I believe it's a five point
• 31:19
Speaker 10: thirty but that that's why it's the day before. And
• 31:23
Speaker 10: you know, that's a good question, but it's always been
• 31:26
Speaker 10: the day before since I was in high school, many
• 31:28
Speaker 10: many moons ago. And I would like to say one
• 31:31
Speaker 10: last thing. And if that's okay, not about Saint Aubums,
• 31:35
Speaker 10: but about somebody who cannot be here, that meant a
• 31:39
Speaker 10: lot to me and Mentelta canall county and I would
• 31:41
Speaker 10: be remiss if I didn't say something about it.
• 31:44
Speaker 5: And that's just as Tim Armstead.
• 31:48
Speaker 10: Justice Armstead was a friend of mine, first person I
• 31:51
Speaker 10: ever campaigned for. When he was Speaker of the House.
• 31:54
Speaker 10: I was a little freshman at the University of Charleston,
• 31:57
Speaker 10: and of course Tim was a proud alumnus of University
• 32:00
Speaker 10: of Charleston, and I met him there and I thought, boy,
• 32:03
Speaker 10: you know, this is a.
• 32:04
Speaker 5: Speaker of the House.
• 32:04
Speaker 10: I've got to be, you know, top notch, and really
• 32:10
Speaker 10: I'm always professional, but he's the speaker, you know, and
• 32:13
  Speaker 10: I'm a freshman in college.
• 32:14
  Speaker 5: I don't know anything.
• 32:15
Speaker 10: He was the most humble human being. This is the
• 32:18
Speaker 10: nicest person. And I say that in the world of
• 32:21
Speaker 10: politics and on all levels, you have people who do
• 32:25
Speaker 10: it for the right reasons. You have people who do
• 32:26
Speaker 10: it for the wrong reasons, and that's just the nature
• 32:28
Speaker 10: of the beast. Tim was one of the good guys,
• 32:32
Speaker 10: and he always told me that no matter what, if
• 32:36
Speaker 10: you do the right thing, it's going to work out,
• 32:38
Speaker 10: and if elected the Knall County Commission, I'm going to
• 32:41
Speaker 10: continue that mentality and that work ethic that Tim always
• 32:46
Speaker 10: shared with me and kept as Speaker and as Justice
• 32:50
Speaker 10: as the Supreme Court. And it's going to be said.
• 32:52
Speaker 10: I always told Tim when I was first born in
• 32:55
Speaker 10: this municipal judge he was who swore me in.
• 32:58
Speaker 5: Came to Saint Om's do it during.
• 33:00
Speaker 10: COVID and I said, you know, Justice, I hope we
• 33:04
Speaker 10: get to do this again someday and he said, he said,
• 33:08
Speaker 10: you know, well, you've got a great future ahead and
• 33:10
Speaker 10: I look forward to doing this. And when I was
• 33:13
Speaker 10: sworn in as council and Vice Mayor, he was receiving treatment.
• 33:16
Speaker 10: And it's just sad that we've got this opportunity and
• 33:19
Speaker 10: he's not here for it. But I just want to
• 33:21
Speaker 10: say for the listeners and those in Kannall County or
• 33:25
Speaker 10: New Justice Armstead that well he may not be here,
• 33:29
Speaker 10: his legacy will never be forgotten with my with me
• 33:32
Speaker 10: or with Kannall County Commission if elected, and I planned
• 33:35
Speaker 10: to keep the principles that he practiced and keep his
• 33:40
Speaker 10: honor alive as a Kennall County Commissioner.
• 33:43
Speaker 3: All right, she had, wishing the best of luck. Thanks
• 33:45
Speaker 3: a lot, Thank you very much. I got to say
• 33:46
Speaker 3: a fly Eagles flying.
• 33:47
Speaker 5: Oh, here we go. He had to do it.
• 33:50
Speaker 3: He's a big Eagles fan and they play Thursday night football,

• 37:00
Speaker 3: it's not just about the football game. There's a lot
• 37:02
Speaker 3: of other activities that go along with Melanie Pelario and
• 37:05
Speaker 3: Walker Tator we're here to talk about it's welcome to
• 37:07
Speaker 3: the show, guys, Hello, thanks for having us. I got
• 37:10
Speaker 3: to ask you, how did your event go last week?
• 37:11
Speaker 3: Because this was a Melanie, this was a Canau Valley
• 37:13
Speaker 3: chapter of the Marshall Alumni.
• 37:15
Speaker 5: You had a big kick off at the Roughner last week.
• 37:17
  Speaker 5: Had to go.
• 37:17
Speaker 17: It was a fabulous turnout, So thank you.
• 37:19
Speaker 5: How many people proximately say over fifty over fifty? Cool success,
• 37:24
  Speaker 5: big success.
• 37:24
Speaker 3: All right, So it's homecoming next week from Marshall University
• 37:28
Speaker 3: Thundering Herd. Of course they have a home game this week,
• 37:30
Speaker 3: but homecoming is next week, and we think about homecoming,
• 37:33
Speaker 3: we think about the game, which is obviously what it's
• 37:35
  Speaker 3: all centered around.
• 37:36
Speaker 5: But it's an entire week's worth of.
• 37:37
Speaker 17: Activities, absolutely, and Walker's going to fill us in. We
• 37:40
Speaker 17: have some things starting from Monday, something planned every day,
• 37:43
Speaker 17: and so I want to get the word out and
• 37:46
Speaker 17: hopefully folks from all over the area will come down
• 37:49
Speaker 17: and hang with us.
• 37:51
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 37:51
Speaker 18: Absolutely, So, I mean, you know, homecoming is a special
• 37:54
Speaker 18: time on campus that's an opportunity for alums and family
• 37:57
Speaker 18: and friends to come back and enjoy all of the
• 38:00
Speaker 18: festivities we have. As Melanie mentioned, you know, we start
• 38:02
Speaker 18: on Monday, and in the evening of Monday, we have
• 38:05
Speaker 18: the Unity Walk, which is something that's planned for the
• 38:08
Speaker 18: university where we all kind of come together as a
• 38:10
Speaker 18: community and we walk the perimeter of campus and our
• 38:14
Speaker 18: Athletic Director, Jerald Harris will actually be giving a keynote address,
• 38:18
Speaker 18: so that'll be a fun opportunity.
• 38:20
  Speaker 2: You know.
• 38:21
Speaker 18: One of the privileges of our jobs is we get
• 38:23
Speaker 18: to coordinate the homecoming Grand Marshall and this year we
• 38:27
Speaker 18: have an out of this world Grand Marshal. His name
• 38:29
Speaker 18: is Jim Thornton. He's the voice of Wheel of Fortune
• 38:32
Speaker 18: and he's coming back to serve as our Grand Marshal
• 38:34
Speaker 18: and he'll be there the entire week for all of
• 38:36
  Speaker 18: these events.
• 38:37
Speaker 2: So even on Wednesday.
• 38:38
Speaker 18: Jim loves Jim Spaghetti, so we're going to be having
• 38:41
Speaker 18: a meet Jim at Jim's and that's for the community
• 38:44
Speaker 18: to come out and be able to get an autograph
• 38:46
Speaker 18: and take it care.
• 38:47
Speaker 3: Of a lot of people aren't aware of that. Jim Thornton,
• 38:50
Speaker 3: the Voice of Wheel of Fortune, is a Marshall guy.
• 38:52
Speaker 18: He is He is so he's a Marshall LAMMI he
• 38:54
Speaker 18: grew up here in Huntington, and you know, he's been
• 38:56
Speaker 18: on the West Coast and he's had a very successful career,
• 38:59
Speaker 18: but Marshall's always been his school. And I actually went
• 39:01
Speaker 18: to LA a couple of weeks ago and we got
• 39:03
Speaker 18: to go on the set of a Whale of Fortune
• 39:05
Speaker 18: and get to see him in his element and just
• 39:08
Speaker 18: the way that he he leads and he you know,
• 39:10
Speaker 18: lets people know he's from this area and represents this community.
• 39:14
Speaker 18: It's just out of this world.
• 39:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean so, so just take us through the
• 39:19
Speaker 5: rest of the week.
• 39:19
Speaker 18: Yes, So there's also of course student events going on
• 39:23
Speaker 18: throughout that week, you know, mentioning the unity to walk
• 39:26
Speaker 18: on Monday. The latter part of the week is always
• 39:28
Speaker 18: the busiest of course, So with our office and alumni,
• 39:32
Speaker 18: we actually get to do office decorating with offices on
• 39:34
Speaker 18: campus and you know, our theme this year is will
• 39:37
Speaker 18: of Thunder to kind of you know, pay a nod
• 39:39
Speaker 18: to Jim in his career. So we'll be doing office
• 39:42
Speaker 18: decorating all day and the judging of that on Thursday,
• 39:46
Speaker 18: and then that leads us into one of the largest
• 39:48
Speaker 18: athletic events during homecoming, which is hoops and Huntington, So
• 39:51
Speaker 18: they set up the basketball court downtown and it's an
• 39:54
Speaker 18: opportunity for the community to meet the coaches and meet
• 39:56
Speaker 18: some of the players and have a fun time downtown.
• 39:59
Speaker 17: And that's a very exciting environment. If are around, need
• 40:03
Speaker 17: to come in and watch your you're sitting right there
• 40:07
Speaker 17: on Third Avenue and they have the court there and you're.
• 40:09
Speaker 5: Right in front side.
• 40:10
Speaker 17: It's a great, great event, absolutely.
• 40:13
Speaker 18: And then Friday we have the the homecoming parade, which
• 40:17
Speaker 18: starts downtown on Fourth Avenue, you know, comes through Huntington
• 40:21
Speaker 18: and then ends up in Harlest Dining Hall's filled right
• 40:26
Speaker 18: there between Harlest Dining Hall, which is where we have
• 40:28
Speaker 18: our homecoming bonfire, and that's usually always a fun time.
• 40:31
Speaker 18: We have a lot of vendors and a lot of
• 40:33
Speaker 18: people in the parade, but for the bonfire specifically, that's
• 40:36
Speaker 18: where we get to kind of have some fun with
• 40:38
Speaker 18: the students and they have parade float winners, we have
• 40:41
Speaker 18: office decorating winners announced, and just some really good food
• 40:45
Speaker 18: and some you know, tunes from the band, and we
• 40:48
Speaker 18: have some chance from the cheer team and it's a
• 40:51
Speaker 18: lot of fun for everyone to be able to get
• 40:53
Speaker 18: together at the bonfire and spend some time together.
• 40:56
Speaker 3: But they've dold Chewing five Vidieline brought to you in
• 40:58

• 41:07
Speaker 5: There's really nothing like homecoming in Huntington.
• 41:11
Speaker 3: I mean, and now now that it looks like fall
• 41:13
Speaker 3: is here, you know, if it starts to feel like
• 41:15
Speaker 3: fall a little bit, there's just something about it.
• 41:17
Speaker 5: I have said this before as a son of Marshall.
• 41:22
Speaker 3: There is nothing like fall on campus at Marshall University,
• 41:26
Speaker 3: when the leaves start to fall and everything and you
• 41:28
Speaker 3: see old Maine in the background and just everything. There's
• 41:30
Speaker 3: just nothing like it.
• 41:31
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 41:32
Speaker 18: Absolutely, And you know on Saturday before the big game,
• 41:35
Speaker 18: we have the Alumni Telgate, which is something that our
• 41:37
Speaker 18: office hosts, and all of these events. I know, sometimes
• 41:40

• 41:45

• 42:02
Speaker 3: week's worth of activities. And I always like to because
• 42:04
Speaker 3: you know, Marshall is a institution that's so steeped in
• 42:07
Speaker 3: tradition and build around you know, everything revolves around the
• 42:11
Speaker 3: around the seventy five, uh, And that's.
• 42:13
Speaker 5: Always a big part of it too. And it's a
• 42:17
  Speaker 5: special place.
• 42:18
Speaker 17: Is it's an exciting time to be in Huntington on campus. Yeah,

• 47:53
Speaker 3: This was discussed within the ACNAW County Commission and actually

Speaker 3: heard a little clip from Commissioner Lance Wheeler and Commissioner
• 48:00
Speaker 3: Selango when I was driving in this morning on the
• 48:02
Speaker 3: Morning News. Commissioner Wheeler is going to join us on
• 48:05
Speaker 3: the show to talk about that today, because again it's
• 48:07
Speaker 3: not this is not an issue with Shawnee necessarily, this
• 48:10
Speaker 3: is a nationwide issue where you know, people don't know
• 48:14
Speaker 3: how to behave at kids sporting events and Kennan County
• 48:17

Speaker 3: we'll get into that with the Commissioner Wheeler on the

Speaker 3: Greg Thomas from Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse will also stop
• 49:29
Speaker 3: by on the show tomorrow as well. Tex says, Dave
• 49:33
Speaker 3: everyone in the state needs to read Hobbies commentary. He
• 49:35
Speaker 3: hit the nail on the head so true about where
• 49:39
Speaker 3: we are headed as a country since a texture, Tex says,
• 49:47
Speaker 3: can you believe how hard this administration is going after Antiva?
• 49:51
Speaker 3: They say they're closing in on the leaders of a
• 49:52
Speaker 3: group that has no leadership also why goes so hard
• 49:55
Speaker 3: after an anti fascist group? Only fascists would go after
• 49:58
Speaker 3: an anti fascist group.
• 50:00
Speaker 5: It says a texture.
• 50:01
Speaker 3: Looks like work is finally getting underway in the Fort
• 50:04
Speaker 3: Hill Bridge. The deck repair will get underway next Monday
• 50:08
Speaker 3: evening and it's going to be done primarily between six
• 50:12
Speaker 3: pm and six am, and they're going to work around
• 50:15
Speaker 3: the clock on the weekends. So plan accordingly starting Friday
• 50:19
Speaker 3: evening if you're coming in and out of the city
• 50:21
Speaker 3: of Charleston and you're taking the bridge. But I mean, look,
• 50:26
  Speaker 3: it's got to be done. I mean we've we've put
• 50:29
Speaker 3: band aids on, and band aids on, and band aids on.
• 50:31
Speaker 3: An I am no bridge expert or structural engineer, but
• 50:34
Speaker 3: I know what I drive over every day coming into
• 50:37
Speaker 3: the city and coming out, and it's got to be done.
• 50:39
Speaker 3: So the work is going to start Monday evening, so
• 50:41
Speaker 3: your commutes will be greatly impacted six pm to six am.
• 50:46
Speaker 3: But then on the weekends, because I know a lot
• 50:48
Speaker 3: of people coming to Charleston for the different activities going
• 50:50
Speaker 3: on on the weekends, there are a lot of folks
• 50:55
Speaker 3: that traveled at just be just know that on the
• 50:58
Speaker 3: weekends it's pretty much going to be a twenty four
• 51:00
Speaker 3: hour thing, and then that's that's the best way to
• 51:03
Speaker 3: do it, to be honest with you. And again, hats
• 51:05
Speaker 3: off to hopefully, hopefully getting this thing taken care of

• 51:17
Speaker 3: speaking of wheel of Fortune, I can't believe the news
• 51:20
Speaker 3: cut into the show last night to bring the news
• 51:22
Speaker 3: of a possible deal between Israel and Hamas. Sure, they'll
• 51:26
Speaker 3: maybe have peace for a few years, but what thousands
• 51:28
Speaker 3: of years of hate between Muslims.
• 51:29
Speaker 5: And Jews will refurface? Resurface rather in some form or another.
• 51:35
Speaker 3: Tex says, while how despicable by a previous text or
• 51:40
Speaker 3: not giving the credit to the president on the peace deal.
• 51:43
Speaker 3: This has been praised by people on both sides. Democrat
• 51:47
Speaker 3: love those two words. Get that Nobel Peace Prize paperwork.
• 51:51
Speaker 3: In Andrea Mitchell Andreya Mitchell of NBC News, who said
• 51:55
Speaker 3: last week on I Think I Think it was a
• 51:58
Speaker 3: Meet the Press in one of the news show, she
• 52:01
Speaker 3: said that if President Trump gets this deal done, he
• 52:04
Speaker 3: will be in line for a Nobel Peace Prize. And again,
• 52:08
Speaker 3: and I'll go back to what the previous texture said,
• 52:10
Speaker 3: There's been thousands of years of conflict and so on
• 52:13
Speaker 3: and so forth. But yeah, if if this deal gets
• 52:16
Speaker 3: done and it turns out the way that people hope
• 52:20
Speaker 3: for it too, he'll be in line.
• 52:21
Speaker 5: For a Nobel Peace Prize, make no mistake about it.
• 52:25
Speaker 5: I did want to close with this real quickly, and
• 52:26
Speaker 5: we're going to get into this a little bit later
• 52:28
Speaker 5: on a metric Who's Midday today, But again I mentioned
• 52:31
Speaker 5: it earlier. The behavior of some parents, grandparents, and adults
• 52:37
Speaker 5: at kids sporting events. I mean, we've all seen the stories,
• 52:41
Speaker 5: We've seen the videos online. While the kids are just
• 52:44
Speaker 5: trying to play a game, you know, do better well,
• 52:47
Speaker 5: they're doing something at Shawnee, they've got a pretty pretty
• 52:50
Speaker 5: strict list of things about what you're allowed to do
• 52:53
Speaker 5: and about your taunting and things of that nature of
• 52:57
Speaker 5: kids we're talking about.
• 52:58
Speaker 3: So we'll get into that coming up on the show
• 53:00
Speaker 3: again on the show tomorrow. And Gilla Wanner from the
