- 0:18Speaker 1: around the league everywhere right now?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Really, I don't know.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I've read a couple of things I'm saying, pay attention,
- 0:24Speaker 1: So you don't pay attention to anything. No, I feel
- 0:27Speaker 1: like that's a load of bullshit. Really absolutely, so you
- 0:30Speaker 1: don't see any of the stuff people are saying. Things
- 0:32Speaker 1: going on. It's not a healthy thing. But at the
- 0:34Speaker 1: same time, it's like one of those deals, swear ye
- 0:37Speaker 1: kind of forced to watch them.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Well, that's why it's cool when it gets brought up
- 0:40Speaker 3: in person. Then they're like, exactly like you just did. Yeah, actually, no,

- 1:06Speaker 1: If you guys didn't know this, at the Rebel Ranch right, yep,
- 1:10Speaker 1: we went. We were boozing together one day. Not a
- 1:12Speaker 1: whole lot of boozing, but there were a couple of
- 1:14Speaker 1: drinks passed around. Did you like the place?
- 1:15Speaker 2: It was great? Yeah, live music all the.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Brad Burberry right, yeah, he came up and how do
- 1:20Speaker 1: you guys know each other? Same class here, Brad. Yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 1: it's all the same thing to me.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, he's a he's a great dude. We just
- 1:27Speaker 3: connected through really our agency really just people that we
- 1:30Speaker 3: know and then actually alignment that's on our team Pad
- 1:34Speaker 3: offline is boys with him. Yeah, through like training and stuff.
- 1:37Speaker 3: So uh but yeah, they're all great.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Dudes, you know.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Right, Hey, the Salt of the Earth Cats And so
- 1:45Speaker 1: you guys came up to Kve Creek. What brought you
- 1:47Speaker 1: guys up there?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Where were we that bar? Buffalo Chip?
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yeah, outstanding there.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So we had a night out in Buffalo Chip and
- 1:54Speaker 2: it was great.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Do you guys watch the bull riding and everything. Yeah,
- 1:57Speaker 1: it's awesome. Give me one seconds. I'm already leaking. Boys,
- 2:00Speaker 1: Holy shit, don't look at that. Don't look at it. Hey,
- 2:04Speaker 1: what did JP watch yourself? Now?
- 2:07Speaker 2: I know?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Hey, sometimes you're sitting down in that chair a little
- 2:09Speaker 1: bit and it's like, oh, the tarfs comes off a
- 2:12Speaker 1: little bit. You guys, was the Buffalo Chip you saw
- 2:14Speaker 1: bull writing, bull riding, the whole thing.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Little line dancing is well, you know how to line dance?
- 2:18Speaker 3: Don't know, but I tried. I tried really hard, and
- 2:20Speaker 3: that's all that matters is the effort. Effort, Yeah, no doubt.
- 2:23Speaker 1: What So did you learn? You learn how two? Step two?
- 2:27Speaker 2: I've learned in the past.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Just when I when we started line dancing and it
- 2:31Speaker 3: wasn't going my way, Yeah, I just kind of stepped
- 2:33Speaker 3: to the side, no doubt, just started, you know, doing
- 2:37Speaker 3: my thing back and forth.
- 2:39Speaker 1: That middle school thing. We kind of peer back and
- 2:41Speaker 1: forth or staring at the other girls and we're waiting
- 2:44Speaker 1: who's gonna make a move first type of deal.
- 2:45Speaker 3: And then at Buffalo Chip, I feel like there were
- 2:47Speaker 3: a lot of pros yeah out that night. Yeah, then
- 2:49Speaker 3: you get down out there, dude. I give you a
- 2:50Speaker 3: little hint online dancing. And this might just be my opinion,
- 2:53Speaker 3: but I feel like you leave line dancing for the ladies, right.
- 2:55Speaker 3: They go out there, they get in their lines, they
- 2:57Speaker 3: enjoy themselves and do all that two step in where
- 3:00Speaker 3: it's at.
- 3:01Speaker 1: It was out Uh, I was. I was actually in
- 3:02Speaker 1: Arizona this weekend, and I have a buddy out there.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Bo Campbell guy can absolutely two step with the best.
- 3:08Speaker 1: When he's stolen women around. There's no gravity when it
- 3:10Speaker 1: comes to that man dancing. It's it's outstandless. Got way
- 3:13Speaker 1: too drunk. I had no idea. It was one of
- 3:15Speaker 1: those little Sipper deals and it would just it turned
- 3:18Speaker 1: on me real fast. It's not about me, this is
- 3:20Speaker 1: about you.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Now. Let's keep going.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Now, let's just talk about it. Let's keep the trade. Mell.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Let's go to high school. I went to Chaparral High School.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I went to Michigan. But you went to high school
- 3:30Speaker 1: and you didn't just play football basketball player too.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yep.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Was there ever a point in your life where you're like,
- 3:35Speaker 1: I want to do basketball instead of football?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Oh yeah, early on, I say, uh, I would say
- 3:41Speaker 3: basketball is probably my first love Kobe growing up. The
- 3:44Speaker 3: man my dad is a huge Lakers fan, obviously turned
- 3:47Speaker 3: me into a Lakers fan as well. You know, even
- 3:50Speaker 3: when the Lakers weren't winning a ton, he was so
- 3:53Speaker 3: fun to watch. I mean just you know, it would
- 3:57Speaker 3: it could be middle of season, regular season game and
- 4:02Speaker 3: he'd be going all out, like they could be losing
- 4:04Speaker 3: by twenty and he'd be playing in the.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Last few minutes of the fourth quarter.
- 4:08Speaker 3: It was just like, you know, and I didn't even
- 4:10Speaker 3: really recognize that as a young kid.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but i mean, get older, you appreciate a way more.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Huerca hundred percent.
- 4:16Speaker 3: So it was just, yeah, didn't even didn't even realize
- 4:20Speaker 3: that at the time, but he was such an inspiration
- 4:22Speaker 3: for me and you know, I'm sure a lot of
- 4:24Speaker 3: other kids. But it was fun to watch grow up
- 4:27Speaker 3: and watch that, and so that's kind of how I
- 4:29Speaker 3: fell in love with basketball, and then uh yeah, just
- 4:33Speaker 3: ended up loving it and then starting to get into
- 4:35Speaker 3: football a little bit later on, like third grade, and
- 4:38Speaker 3: uh just played I played basketball, football, and baseball. Those
- 4:42Speaker 3: are like the three that I just rotated around. Yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 3: throughout my childhood growing up and really throughout until freshman year.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Of high school and then uh, I played basketball up
- 4:52Speaker 3: until my senior year of high school and that was
- 4:55Speaker 3: the last year I played basketball.
- 4:58Speaker 1: So you didn't do any pickups at USC or any
- 5:00Speaker 1: thing like that.
- 5:00Speaker 2: We did.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but another rest or whatever, dunk on some
- 5:03Speaker 1: little nerds.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Nothing'll work out in yeah, off season grind yeah, no
- 5:07Speaker 3: question boys.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I was, I cannot play basketball all but all
- 5:10Speaker 1: the boys would go out there, hang out and play
- 5:12Speaker 1: basketball there though. Yeah, I'll get no easy buckets. Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 1: no easy buckets. Yeah, absolutely, past it back and forth,
- 5:18Speaker 1: over and over again. Invent the alley oop. Yeah, it's
- 5:21Speaker 1: a beautiful thing.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yeah, you would, you would throw it though you're not
- 5:24Speaker 3: dunking though, No.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I can I get. I used to be able to.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I don't know if I can dunk anymore. The boy
- 5:28Speaker 1: had a thirty and a half. Okay, you know that
- 5:30Speaker 1: little vert was kind of nice, yeah, or in mind
- 5:33Speaker 1: it was just like twenty five twenty six bad. Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I was looking at on the Wikipedia pan.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I'm on one one one foot jumper.
- 5:39Speaker 1: We were in the same forty as well, did we? Yes?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Go ahead? Yeah, well, well you know it's in the
- 5:44Speaker 2: beginning of this whole thing. Well, you know what was
- 5:47Speaker 2: what was the ten? What was the split? One?
- 5:50Speaker 1: Matter one six four?
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah, probably fastened me too, but you don't.
- 5:55Speaker 1: You don't got to run that fast. You kind of
- 5:57Speaker 1: got wheels, so you did. Like Pat Mahomes, You guys
- 5:59Speaker 1: can get around a little bit. Yeah yeah, game speed,
- 6:01Speaker 1: yeah yeah. And so when you went to USC, you
- 6:04Speaker 1: were going there to play linebacker? No, you they wanted
- 6:07Speaker 1: you to play linebacker at first.
- 6:09Speaker 3: So I got recruited. So there was some old lineman.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I don't know if you know the name Kyle Murphy
- 6:13Speaker 3: or Josh Garnett.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know those names.
- 6:15Speaker 3: No, So they went to Stanford played lineman. He was
- 6:17Speaker 3: a left tackle at Stanford, but they went to my
- 6:21Speaker 3: high school or sorry, Cayl. Murphy went to my high school,
- 6:23Speaker 3: not Josh, but uh. And then Sean Harlowe. Do you
- 6:27Speaker 3: know that name at all? Place for the Falcons Oregon State?
- 6:31Speaker 1: Do we know the name back there? Boys? If it's
- 6:33Speaker 1: not forty nine ers plus?
- 6:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he was.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I mean, both really good prospects out of same high school.
- 6:39Speaker 3: So we had some you know, packed twelve schools that
- 6:42Speaker 3: would come around, and they recruited me and but at
- 6:46Speaker 3: the time, I was playing linebacker and receiver my sophomore year,
- 6:49Speaker 3: and and uh I remember Oseron.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Oseron had like one of the little film cameras.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yeah, uh and he was like filming me doing linebacker drills.
- 6:56Speaker 3: And I was like, I thought this guy was was
- 6:58Speaker 3: here for you know, the scene yours who are getting
- 7:00Speaker 3: recruited to play to play at see And he was
- 7:03Speaker 3: just like, no, like I want to film this dude, Darnald,
- 7:06Speaker 3: Like he looks like he's he's got some athletic ability.
- 7:08Speaker 3: And I was like a buck, you know, buck ninety
- 7:10Speaker 3: at the time, same same height. I was tall early on,
- 7:14Speaker 3: but uh yeah, I was a skinny, skinny little linebacker
- 7:16Speaker 3: who just get tossed around.
- 7:17Speaker 2: By left tackles in our league.
- 7:19Speaker 3: But I was playing like three four, uh like Sam
- 7:24Speaker 3: or no Will at the time. So I was like
- 7:25Speaker 3: kind of on the line of scrimmage trying to fight
- 7:27Speaker 3: off tight ends and tackles when they were trying to
- 7:31Speaker 3: run block.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So that was fun at one.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah, and there were kids that there were like tackles
- 7:37Speaker 3: and guards that were bushing three hundred in our league.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Really, yeah, for sure. Yeah, California's got a good ball
- 7:41Speaker 1: out there. A lot of people like to shoot on California.
- 7:43Speaker 1: But it's a fad of the deal.
- 7:44Speaker 2: People do like to show on California.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of people in this bus actually, Oh
- 7:48Speaker 3: really in California?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:49Speaker 1: Is that? Who is that? We want to point fingers?
- 7:52Speaker 2: No, we're not pointing fingers, but in this general areas
- 7:55Speaker 2: or in this general area. No, it's in this general area.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Tea. We'll leave it. Yeah, fair enough to you with
- 8:01Speaker 1: three letters. Shit on California ball, it's like a top five,
- 8:05Speaker 1: top five state. You gotta he just talks a lot
- 8:08Speaker 1: about SEC and where you're from. Team it means a
- 8:11Speaker 1: little bit more. Oh you're from here, you're a balls guy.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Gotta respect the balls. Their fan base is out of control.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Their fan base is insane. Michigan. Michigan beat the Balls
- 8:21Speaker 1: in basketball to go to the Sweet sixteen. And I
- 8:24Speaker 1: put out one tweet of Juwan Howard slapping the tea
- 8:29Speaker 1: and holy shit. Now, obviously most of my followers are
- 8:32Speaker 1: Tennessee fans living in Tennessee. But it was a bloodbath.
- 8:36Speaker 1: They remind me of the Buffalo Bills, that Bill's mafia.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You got that tea mafia out there. But but California.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Do is they written now California, Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, Florida?
- 8:46Speaker 1: Is that the top five? Or Pennsylvania too? That's another one.
- 8:49Speaker 1: He can't sleep on that team. Yeah, Louisiana is like that.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I don't even know that that's recent though, that's pretty recent.
- 8:56Speaker 1: So when ozeron cam had this little cam corder on you,
- 8:59Speaker 1: filming you up when you're a buck ninety, did you
- 9:01Speaker 1: think to yourself, Oh, I'm going to the league now.
- 9:03Speaker 2: No, No, I had no idea, dude.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Actually, I didn't really know what a scholarship offer was
- 9:07Speaker 3: until I got offered my first one.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Who was your first offer?
- 9:10Speaker 2: A University of Utah?
- 9:12Speaker 1: Oh? Hell yeah, you dude, absolutely yeah.
- 9:14Speaker 2: So they offered me after my sophomore year.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I played like two games at the end of the
- 9:18Speaker 3: season at quarterback because the starter got hurt, and they
- 9:24Speaker 3: offered me based on some tape that they saw those
- 9:26Speaker 3: two games. And then I've liked some drills that I
- 9:29Speaker 3: did for him during the spring. Crazy yeah, And so
- 9:33Speaker 3: he offered me the scholarship. He was like, hey, man, like,
- 9:35Speaker 3: we want to offer you a scholarship to play football
- 9:37Speaker 3: at the University of Utah and I was like, okay
- 9:39Speaker 3: at quarterback after two games.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and I was like okay, cool.
- 9:44Speaker 3: You know, I didn't really know like what it entailed
- 9:46Speaker 3: or like he was like you pretty excited about it
- 9:49Speaker 3: or you just I was just very like kind of monotone, like, yeah,
- 9:52Speaker 3: I'm very excited, thank you, coach, Like can't wait to
- 9:55Speaker 3: you know, continue talking to you whatever. And he goes
- 9:58Speaker 3: and tells my parents, Like right after that, I just
- 10:00Speaker 3: see my mom melt.
- 10:01Speaker 2: She's just crying, yeah, everywhere.
- 10:03Speaker 3: And I'm just like, I think this is a little
- 10:05Speaker 3: bit bigger deal than I than I thought, right, And
- 10:08Speaker 3: so they're like yeah, Like my dad kind of explained
- 10:11Speaker 3: it to me in the in the head coach. He
- 10:13Speaker 3: was just like, dude, you're like, you're going to get
- 10:17Speaker 3: offered like full tuition to go to the school just
- 10:19Speaker 3: to play ball and like potentially have a chance.
- 10:21Speaker 2: At going to the league.
- 10:23Speaker 1: That's incredible.
- 10:24Speaker 3: And so I don't know, I think it was kind
- 10:26Speaker 3: of cool to, you know, live my entire kind of
- 10:29Speaker 3: childhood and my high school life not really knowing what
- 10:32Speaker 3: you know, I was necessarily going for, you know, I
- 10:35Speaker 3: wasn't ever trying to get an offer, you know, but
- 10:37Speaker 3: it just it just happened.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And so when you were growing up playing ball, you
- 10:39Speaker 1: never thought I'm going to be an NFL football player.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Someday I'm gonna be NBA basketball player or MLB.
- 10:44Speaker 3: You always I always dreamed of playing in professional sports,
- 10:46Speaker 3: yeah and something, but I didn't know necessarily kind of
- 10:50Speaker 3: the steps to get there. I was just like, oh,
- 10:52Speaker 3: I want to play I want to play professional ball.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Do something. And uh so I.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Was just like, dang, like, you know, I guess the
- 10:58Speaker 3: next step would be called yeah.
- 11:00Speaker 1: High school, right right? Yeah, that's so. Usually football is
- 11:03Speaker 1: just a segular line trajectory of where you're gonna go.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 11:07Speaker 3: So uh yeah, So I got offered and I was yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 3: after they kind of you know, told me what it
- 11:15Speaker 3: was and what was going on. Then, uh they told
- 11:17Speaker 3: me they're just like I was just you know, so happy,
- 11:21Speaker 3: so happy about you know, the situation. And it's funny
- 11:24Speaker 3: like once you get that first offer, I mean you
- 11:26Speaker 3: know how it is, it just starts rolling in.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and you got on your sophomore year. That's kind
- 11:31Speaker 1: of is that a normal? One guy that dude from
- 11:33Speaker 1: Michigan he got won in eighth grade, which is kind
- 11:36Speaker 1: of while, did you have an kids at your school
- 11:37Speaker 1: that were getting offers like that?
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean oh not my no, no, no, not
- 11:41Speaker 3: in my high school. But obviously, you know, you got guys.
- 11:44Speaker 3: He got guys, and you know, like David Sills, who
- 11:47Speaker 3: now plays receiver I think for the Giants. He played
- 11:50Speaker 3: at West Virginia, I believe, and uh he was like
- 11:54Speaker 3: one of the top recruited kids in California to play
- 11:57Speaker 3: quarterback and ended up getting offered in seventh grade I believe,
- 12:01Speaker 3: by like Lane Kiffin at SC Yeah, and uh it
- 12:06Speaker 3: was insane.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It is zero puba care on his body, and he's
- 12:09Speaker 1: just they're just gonna all of a sudden give him an.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Hey that's you know, he might have he might have.
- 12:13Speaker 1: You know some seventh graders did. Yeah. You know Luke
- 12:15Speaker 1: Stedman when I was in middle school, okay, was a hosts.
- 12:18Speaker 1: He had a receding hairline at twelve years old. It
- 12:21Speaker 1: was unbelievable. So you get you get the utes, and
- 12:24Speaker 1: so you're kind of like, hey, I guess I'm just
- 12:25Speaker 1: going to college now this is gonna happen. What happened
- 12:27Speaker 1: after that? Who who are the next ones to fall
- 12:29Speaker 1: in line?
- 12:30Speaker 2: Shoot? It was kind of other packed twelve.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Schools and you didn't start playing quarterback till your junior year.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Yeah, like full time. Uh so yeah, kind of that
- 12:39Speaker 3: off season. Yeah, we're going into the junior year, I
- 12:41Speaker 3: started playing more quarterback, but uh yeah, man, it was
- 12:44Speaker 3: just packed twelve schools A couple.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I think it was just Tennessee.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Honestly, you offered me, uh and then and then yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 3: and then it was like Big ten like Penn State
- 12:56Speaker 3: some other ones.
- 12:56Speaker 1: But do you get Michigan?
- 12:58Speaker 3: I didn't. You know, It's funny. Uh, Right, when Harbaugh
- 13:01Speaker 3: got the Michigan job, he called me really mm hmm yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 3: and uh he was kind of pitching and I was
- 13:07Speaker 3: just like, hey, like, I've committed to U s C.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Like this is after like right when I was about
- 13:12Speaker 3: to start my senior year, and uh I was like listen,
- 13:15Speaker 3: like I made a commitment to go to SC.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Like I appreciate you reaching out.
- 13:19Speaker 3: But so yeah, he did reach out, and you know
- 13:23Speaker 3: assume that he would have probably offered me, but I
- 13:25Speaker 3: didn't even let him get that far.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I was just like, I'm I'm going to SC.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Loyal cat. Huh yeah, I mean, dude, I grew up
- 13:30Speaker 1: an SC fan. Yeah, I mean you grew up with
- 13:32Speaker 1: Matt Lioner, Reggie Bush, those dudes.
- 13:34Speaker 3: That was primetime SC ball and I was you know,
- 13:37Speaker 3: that was my childhood, you know what I mean.
- 13:40Speaker 1: So, and Pete Carroll was the dude too, man.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah, he played SC perfectly, did all the stuff he
- 13:46Speaker 2: needed to do, get the stations.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yes, will Ferrell coming in doing practice? Do you guys
- 13:53Speaker 1: anything like that? S it right?
- 13:54Speaker 2: We never did, dude, But we were coaches at I
- 13:56Speaker 2: was with so Sark.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I was with Sark for about a year and a
- 14:00Speaker 3: half and then Clay took over as the interim and
- 14:03Speaker 3: then ended up getting the job after that that first
- 14:06Speaker 3: year where we uh we had a pretty good year.
- 14:09Speaker 1: That's awesome here. Yeah. So when you when you were
- 14:12Speaker 1: coming out, as soon as you offered by the youths,
- 14:13Speaker 1: You're like, I want to go to s C. The
- 14:14Speaker 1: whole time, I want to go to SC.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I always wanted to go to s C. Yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 1: So when they offered, it was done deal.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it was because they offered late too, Like I
- 14:22Speaker 3: was actually went on a some official visits. I went
- 14:27Speaker 3: to Duke Northwestern, uh, and then I went to Oregon.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Why'd you to Duke, what'd you in Northwestern?
- 14:33Speaker 2: I wanted to write, I, H no, I'm not.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Actually, well, Duke's a good school, right I thought I was,
- 14:41Speaker 3: But uh no, Duke's a grade school Northwestern too. But
- 14:45Speaker 3: I I really liked fits who's the coach at Northwestern.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I like Cutcliffe a lot, just knowing his background with
- 14:51Speaker 3: the Mannings and stuff. I was like, you know, I
- 14:53Speaker 3: want to get to know this guy and potentially play
- 14:55Speaker 3: for him.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I think it'd be sick. Yeah, and uh so that
- 14:57Speaker 2: was kind of my.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Mindset with that, and then went to Oregon after that.
- 15:02Speaker 3: So I went Duke Northwestern Oregon, and then I came
- 15:05Speaker 3: back down to do a camp like last minute at
- 15:08Speaker 3: SC they had like a middle school camp going on.
- 15:11Speaker 2: And then I was throwing.
- 15:12Speaker 3: I was like thrown in the mix because Sark wanted
- 15:15Speaker 3: to see me throw in person.
- 15:17Speaker 2: You'd never seen me throw in person. So I threw
- 15:22Speaker 2: for him.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I probably like fifty balls, just kind of warming up,
- 15:24Speaker 3: and then on the run, just really like low key workout.
- 15:28Speaker 3: And then he took me in his office and offered
- 15:30Speaker 3: me on the spot there and I thought about it.
- 15:33Speaker 3: You know, I made the whole list pros and cons
- 15:35Speaker 3: where I wanted to go top three schools and and
- 15:38Speaker 3: uh you know that was once I made the pros
- 15:41Speaker 3: and cons list, I was like pros for sc yeah,
- 15:44Speaker 3: and then there were no cons.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it was it was over for you.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, this is pretty easy.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Can see me play great education, great ball. Grew up
- 15:55Speaker 3: a fan like grew up in.
- 15:56Speaker 1: San Clementy, right, yeah, outstanding town. If you ever been
- 15:59Speaker 1: to San Clementy would have been I have been. I
- 16:01Speaker 1: was like fifteen sixteen. I had a girlfriend who was
- 16:03Speaker 1: pretty rich, so they go out there in the summertime.
- 16:06Speaker 1: It was a nice thing. Oh yeah, oh yeah, smart,
- 16:08Speaker 1: big family Italian girl.
- 16:10Speaker 2: There you go.
- 16:10Speaker 1: He was awesome. Shout out Laura Shockley. But we would
- 16:13Speaker 1: go to San Clementy all the time. Yeah, we got
- 16:16Speaker 1: San Clementty. Was it was awesome. Yeah, she hates my
- 16:18Speaker 1: guts probably now. Shout out hey, Laura, good to say.
- 16:21Speaker 1: You mean out here, motherfucking me. How do you feel
- 16:24Speaker 1: about that? What side do you want with Chris Rock
- 16:27Speaker 1: and Will Smith?
- 16:28Speaker 2: What a weird pivot? Yeah yeah, uh no, I mean
- 16:33Speaker 2: you can't you can't hit anyone.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're on the Chris Rock.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Sideyeah, and it's it was a joke, but you know,
- 16:40Speaker 3: whether whether the joke was bad taste or not, you know,
- 16:44Speaker 3: it's you can't just you can't go up and smack someone.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Yeah like that. Yeah, I've we talked about on the
- 16:50Speaker 1: podcast last week and it kind of seemed like it's alopecia. Right.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I don't want to get that wrong because I feel
- 16:54Speaker 1: like it's insecure if I what to call it last
- 16:55Speaker 1: week propecia propicia, which is like to save the hair thing,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and I just think that I don't know, it depends
- 17:01Speaker 1: like there's a lot of women Jada included, who look
- 17:04Speaker 1: beautiful right with the shade head, I had no issue
- 17:06Speaker 1: with it, and I think anything's fair with comedy when
- 17:09Speaker 1: it comes to you know what I'm saying, less you're white,
- 17:13Speaker 1: saying the N word, that's probably a big no no,
- 17:15Speaker 1: right Yeah, Yeah, probably shouldn't go down that road.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Other than that, Yeah, I think you're pretty fair game
- 17:20Speaker 3: and that there might be another couple.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah, but anything off the top of your head you're
- 17:24Speaker 1: thinking of you question, No, No, not at all.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but uh no, that was yeah, I mean I
- 17:31Speaker 3: don't know, I don't even know if if he knew
- 17:34Speaker 3: that she had it or I don't even know if
- 17:36Speaker 3: it was his joke. That's the other thing is like
- 17:39Speaker 3: did he write it himself? He didn't, right, I mean,
- 17:44Speaker 3: even even then, he's got to take responsibility because he
- 17:46Speaker 3: said it. Yeah, so, I mean, but at the end
- 17:49Speaker 3: of the day, it's it's a joke and Chris Rock's
- 17:52Speaker 3: there to And you gotta know if if you're at
- 17:54Speaker 3: the Oscars and you're sitting in front row.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You're gonna get roasted a little bit.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, And I thing too when they showed Will
- 18:00Speaker 2: Smith sitting there, he was like smiling, having a good time.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Have you seen the whole clip?
- 18:04Speaker 2: And then he looks over, Yeah, how to go defend
- 18:06Speaker 2: her honor? Yeah?
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought his reaction was perfect though, the way
- 18:11Speaker 3: Chris Rock handled it, He's like, wow, what a what
- 18:14Speaker 3: a fucking pro dude?
- 18:15Speaker 1: What a pro though, Oh, there's no question he start
- 18:18Speaker 1: saying documentary instead of Oscar, Like had a whole bunch
- 18:21Speaker 1: of stuff going on. But I think all of us
- 18:22Speaker 1: in here if he slapped me, We've talked about this.
- 18:25Speaker 1: You get slapped for what other man? You like to
- 18:28Speaker 1: think level of heads will prevail, But like, I mean,
- 18:31Speaker 1: do you getting poked in the chest in general, someone
- 18:33Speaker 1: doesn't like just goes right up to your chest toppokes you.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You kind of want to kill that person immediately, right,
- 18:38Speaker 1: So imagine getting open hands slapped.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Imagine if that just broke out in the huge fight.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I think Chris Rock would get his ass be he would,
- 18:45Speaker 1: you would absolutely get his ass.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Be well, yeah, he's probably gotten I mean, listen, he's
- 18:49Speaker 3: a he's a stand up comedian who has done a
- 18:51Speaker 3: million shows.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Right, that's probably happened to him and the stand up committy.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I don't think there a bunch of tough guys in there,
- 18:56Speaker 1: like too off the top of the head, Shob and Rogan,
- 18:58Speaker 1: the two d's that are probably gonna be mask other
- 19:00Speaker 1: than that, Like you don't think, I mean, Chris Rock's
- 19:03Speaker 1: tiny's five to seven, yeah, fifty four years old or whatever.
- 19:06Speaker 1: He is absolute legend, legend. But he starts swinging. It
- 19:10Speaker 1: would have made it, I mean, it would have been
- 19:12Speaker 1: outstanding TV. Would be talking for an hour longer.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Got it right when right when he landed the shot
- 19:17Speaker 3: and when he got back up to the mic, he
- 19:18Speaker 3: was like, this is the greatest night in television.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it is such a great job. Yeah, such a
- 19:23Speaker 1: great job.
- 19:23Speaker 2: It was well, he handled it perfectly.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think it would have been better if
- 19:29Speaker 1: he just said keep my wife's name afterr fucking mouth
- 19:31Speaker 1: and then it just was that was it. But then
- 19:33Speaker 1: he just kept going, Yeah, it was a bad deal.
- 19:35Speaker 1: And then he goes up and does that two and
- 19:37Speaker 1: a half minute speech. Did you know were you watching
- 19:39Speaker 1: it live?
- 19:39Speaker 2: I didn't watch it live.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I wasn't either. Yeah. I see the Twitter and it's thriving,
- 19:43Speaker 1: it's going off on there, and you immediately go to
- 19:45Speaker 1: try to zoom in find it, shout out Japan. Japan
- 19:48Speaker 1: had the whole thing for us.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:49Speaker 3: No, I don't know how how fast it was after
- 19:52Speaker 3: he slapped Chris Rock But how fast? What How quick
- 19:56Speaker 3: was the turnaround with him winning the award and going up.
- 19:58Speaker 1: And give him the speech. It was like twenty minutes, right,
- 20:01Speaker 1: that's crazy. Yeah, and so he's got to go up.
- 20:03Speaker 1: He's talking about being a protector and stuff like that.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:05Speaker 1: And it was his first Oscar as well. God hey,
- 20:10Speaker 1: and then he he just resigned from the Academy. He
- 20:12Speaker 1: just came out the other day and said I'm going
- 20:13Speaker 1: to resign, which I don't know what that means. Is
- 20:15Speaker 1: that mean he's done acting or he's just no longer
- 20:17Speaker 1: affiliated with the PA or whatever they are. He can't
- 20:20Speaker 1: go to the oscars. I tell you he's got the information.
- 20:23Speaker 1: He just can't go to the award ships anymore. But
- 20:25Speaker 1: he can still win stuff.
- 20:26Speaker 2: He's still good.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he's will Smith that he's not going anywhere. If anything,
- 20:30Speaker 1: he probably just got another action movie work on that.
- 20:33Speaker 1: That the hit movement. That would be a hell of
- 20:36Speaker 1: a golfer. Yeah, hell of a golfer.
- 20:38Speaker 2: A quarterback.
- 20:39Speaker 1: So we go to sc How do we do it? SCE?
- 20:41Speaker 1: We read shirted our first year.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Yep, yeah, I read shirt the first year, which I
- 20:45Speaker 3: knew I was gonna do. So, you know how a
- 20:47Speaker 3: lot of quarterbacks go early cool, So I didn't do that.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I just went in the summer because I knew.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, do it all.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I played basketball, went to prom, did all the cool
- 20:58Speaker 3: senior stuff to do. You know, as if if I
- 21:01Speaker 3: wouldn't have done that and then sat for a year,
- 21:05Speaker 3: it's like what am.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I doing now? Exactly? Yeah?
- 21:09Speaker 3: So yeah, red shirted, red shirted s S sat behind
- 21:14Speaker 3: Cody Kessler and then we're back. Competition started that next
- 21:17Speaker 3: year with Max Brown, it was another you know, five
- 21:21Speaker 3: star kid coming out. I had to sit for a
- 21:23Speaker 3: few years to wait a shot, wait for a shot,
- 21:26Speaker 3: and then uh yeah, and then he ended up winning
- 21:29Speaker 3: the competition, ended up playing for three games, I believe,
- 21:34Speaker 3: and then I started the fourth one. We lost that one,
- 21:38Speaker 3: so we started one and three and then we didn't
- 21:40Speaker 3: lose a game after that.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Well, it was going through your mind when he won
- 21:44Speaker 1: the competition. He's obviously, you guys are going back and
- 21:46Speaker 1: forth all campus when they tell you that, hey, you're
- 21:48Speaker 1: not gonna be the starter week one.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Basically what uh what coach said was just.
- 21:56Speaker 3: We got to make the best decision for the team.
- 22:01Speaker 3: And that was basically it, you know how it is.
- 22:02Speaker 3: It was like, very we got to do what's best
- 22:04Speaker 3: for the team, and what's best for the team is
- 22:09Speaker 3: that Max starts for us, really and so that was
- 22:12Speaker 3: it was very, very simple, which I respected because I
- 22:17Speaker 3: was like, how am I going to argue with that?
- 22:18Speaker 3: You know, the coach thinks that he's better than me
- 22:21Speaker 3: and that he gives us the best chance to win,
- 22:23Speaker 3: Like do I disagree? Yes, obviously, But that wasn't you know,
- 22:30Speaker 3: that wasn't for me to say. I was just yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 3: I just kind of took it and uh handled it
- 22:35Speaker 3: how I handled it, And that was really it.
- 22:38Speaker 1: And so you weren't pissed off at all by that.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I will, so I'll go back a little bit.
- 22:44Speaker 3: He he did mention me getting a package for like
- 22:48Speaker 3: red zone stuff and some stuff for me to like
- 22:50Speaker 3: run the ball in the red zone on third and short,
- 22:53Speaker 3: third and fourth and short, and so that that kind
- 22:56Speaker 3: of got me a little uh irritated. But I mean
- 23:01Speaker 3: everything that he said was spot on. I Mean, he
- 23:03Speaker 3: was like, he gives us the best best chance to win,
- 23:06Speaker 3: but at the same time, we envision you having like
- 23:07Speaker 3: a red zone package and a third and fourth and
- 23:10Speaker 3: one package. And so I was just like, yes, coach,
- 23:15Speaker 3: because I'm like a you know, nineteen eighteen, nineteen year old.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Uh, I was just like, all right, sounds good.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Yeah I was. I was much more mouthy than that,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I'm sure. Yeah, my rush for freshman yar. They told
- 23:25Speaker 1: me I wasn't starting. I told the coach to go
- 23:26Speaker 1: fuck himself. Yeah, but hey, that's that's how it works sometimes,
- 23:29Speaker 1: you know. I definitely said that in my head. Yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 1: there you go. Yeah, sometimes I gotta let him know.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, things are going your way.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You gotta say fuck you on the way the deal
- 23:38Speaker 1: works sometimes. So the first three games go on, Yeah,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and then what happens this guy he gets hurt, right, No,
- 23:46Speaker 1: he just got benched, just shitty throwing an iron. T's
- 23:49Speaker 1: left and right.
- 23:50Speaker 2: So he just I mean, I'm still friends with es
- 23:53Speaker 2: this day.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Here's a great guy. To shoot on him. Yeah, I'm
- 23:55Speaker 1: sure he's a great guy. He's awesome.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah I had to say that, but no, he is,
- 24:00Speaker 3: he really is. But uh yeah, that was probably the
- 24:04Speaker 3: weirdest part, to be honest, because we're we're boys my
- 24:07Speaker 3: freshman year because he was kind of showing me the
- 24:08Speaker 3: ropes and you know, when I was going out at SC,
- 24:13Speaker 3: we were kind of hanging out and you know, he
- 24:15Speaker 3: was taking me to parties, doing all that stuff, big
- 24:17Speaker 3: brother stuff, and then all of a sudden, we're in
- 24:19Speaker 3: a competition together and it was like, right, I guess
- 24:22Speaker 3: that's over, you know.
- 24:23Speaker 2: What I mean?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, doing any.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Of that stuff anymore, partying together anymore, and nothing like that.
- 24:28Speaker 3: So so that was kind of the weird part because
- 24:30Speaker 3: I was, you know, we had the same friend group,
- 24:32Speaker 3: you know, boys with you know, everyone on the team
- 24:35Speaker 3: and then some of the kids outside of outside of
- 24:37Speaker 3: football as well.
- 24:38Speaker 2: But you know, it's just part of the deal.
- 24:41Speaker 3: And uh yeah, So I thought the way that he
- 24:45Speaker 3: handled it was insane though, just perfect, the way that
- 24:49Speaker 3: he was just he never even said anything in the
- 24:52Speaker 3: media about me or anything.
- 24:53Speaker 2: He just you handled it like a bro supported you. Yeah.
- 24:57Speaker 1: That's awesome, dude. I love that when so you play
- 25:01Speaker 1: those games and then you go on, then you play
- 25:04Speaker 1: the next year. You guys win the PAC twelve championship, correct, Yes,
- 25:07Speaker 1: win the PAC twelve championship, and then we get to
- 25:09Speaker 1: the twenty eighteen draft and there's kind of the three
- 25:13Speaker 1: guys that everyone's talking about, Baker Mayfield, you and Josh Rosen. Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 1: and now you and Baker. Well, Baker's pretty outspoken to
- 25:19Speaker 1: but you seem like a guy kind of like keep
- 25:21Speaker 1: to himself, don't stay a whole lot, don't read a
- 25:23Speaker 1: lot of stuff. What are you thinking when you see
- 25:25Speaker 1: Josh Rosen staying some mountland as shit, going to UCLA?
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's just it's hard. It makes it
- 25:32Speaker 3: just it makes life harder.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, why why does it make it harder on you.
- 25:36Speaker 2: What do you mean you said it makes life harder
- 25:39Speaker 2: for him? Oh, yes, that's why.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I don't, you know, I choose not to and like honestly,
- 25:44Speaker 3: like I would, I wouldn't.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I don't know. It's just not in me to like
- 25:47Speaker 2: do stuff like that.
- 25:48Speaker 3: And now I do have you know, I have great
- 25:50Speaker 3: friends in a great circle, you know, great family that
- 25:54Speaker 3: you know, if there's some shit that I got to
- 25:55Speaker 3: get off my chest, like yeah, everyone has it, you
- 25:58Speaker 3: know what I mean, But going through the media and
- 26:02Speaker 3: making a scene about it, that's you know, it's just
- 26:05Speaker 3: harder to live life that way.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean. I mean, it makes
- 26:08Speaker 2: it a little bit more fun sometimes you can.
- 26:10Speaker 1: It's fun if you do well right, right, But if
- 26:12Speaker 1: you're the tenth overall pick getting traded the next year
- 26:14Speaker 1: and then it doesn't have happened the way it's happened
- 26:16Speaker 1: to him, yeah, it's not it's not a good deal.
- 26:18Speaker 1: And saying for Baker too, he seems like he's in
- 26:20Speaker 1: a bit of a deal right now. So if all
- 26:22Speaker 1: three of those quarterbacks you're doing the best, Yeah, you're
- 26:24Speaker 1: doing well, argue Yeah, Oh, absolutely so, Baker. I mean
- 26:28Speaker 1: Baker's got to find himself a new home. How do
- 26:30Speaker 1: you what did you think about him when he came
- 26:32Speaker 1: out with like a see a later letter to the Browns,
- 26:36Speaker 1: even before they got Deshaun Watson.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's a tough deal, right because.
- 26:41Speaker 3: You got you got, you know, people that you think
- 26:45Speaker 3: are loyal to you in terms of you know, whatever
- 26:49Speaker 3: it is in his circle at the Browns, coaches owner, GM,
- 26:52Speaker 3: whatever it is for him saying that they're you know,
- 26:56Speaker 3: he's their guy, all this stuff, all the promises that
- 26:58Speaker 3: they make, and then all of a sudden, there's rumors
- 27:00Speaker 3: going out, not necessarily rumors, but you know, factual you know,
- 27:04Speaker 3: information out that you know, they're looking to potentially get
- 27:08Speaker 3: to Sean Watson, and you know that might hit a
- 27:11Speaker 3: you know, that might hit to the core a little
- 27:14Speaker 3: bit for him. Yeah, And so that's again, it's not
- 27:18Speaker 3: not for me to really comment a ton on because
- 27:20Speaker 3: I don't you know, I don't I'm not gonna choose.
- 27:23Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on in Cleveland.
- 27:24Speaker 3: But yeah, it's a it's a tough deal, man, Yeah,
- 27:27Speaker 3: because you know, it's hot throughout business.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, not to get corny, but it is, yeah,
- 27:34Speaker 1: and you go third, you go a third overall to
- 27:36Speaker 1: the Jets. And was Adam Gase to coach then? Or
- 27:38Speaker 1: was the that was that the year after? No, he
- 27:39Speaker 1: was so Todd Bowles. Todd Bowles the coach.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Bulls was our head coach in twenty eighteen twenty nineteen season,
- 27:45Speaker 3: and then uh yeah, I love Todd and mccagnum was
- 27:49Speaker 3: our GM and they were the ones who drafted me,
- 27:52Speaker 3: took me in. And then that next year Bulls gets fired,
- 27:54Speaker 3: they bring in Adam Gase and mccagne is still the GM,
- 27:58Speaker 3: and then the next year they bring in Joe Douglas
- 28:00Speaker 3: GM with Adam Gase as the head coach, and.
- 28:03Speaker 2: So like, hey, you hear all that stuff. Adam Gaze
- 28:06Speaker 2: is the dude that does like the weird eye thing
- 28:07Speaker 2: right when he's getting what he's interviewed.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Yeah, like was he just a crazy person or what
- 28:12Speaker 1: was the deal?
- 28:13Speaker 2: Adams? Great?
- 28:13Speaker 1: He's a good you loved him?
- 28:14Speaker 2: Great? Dude? Yeah, I love Adam.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Because I was watching I was watching some stuff and
- 28:18Speaker 1: I was watching the YouTube video of like the Patriots
- 28:21Speaker 1: game obviously a tough one out there, and then I
- 28:24Speaker 1: was watching stuff after they're like Adam Gase didn't do
- 28:26Speaker 1: anything to help you. They didn't do slide predictions, no,
- 28:29Speaker 1: like seven man pros, you know, checkdowns, none of that stuff.
- 28:32Speaker 1: What was going on during that game where he like
- 28:35Speaker 1: did he come and say anything to you or anything
- 28:37Speaker 1: like that?
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean we just watched the tape.
- 28:40Speaker 3: We you know, we talked about some stuff, and you know,
- 28:43Speaker 3: there were there were definitely some things where I could
- 28:45Speaker 3: have done a lot more with the protection that helped
- 28:47Speaker 3: me out. But it was just, for lack of a
- 28:52Speaker 3: better term, it was a cluster, uh, you know, out
- 28:55Speaker 3: on the field and trying to you know, because Bill
- 28:59Speaker 3: and that that whole tree Flores, Patricia all those guys.
- 29:02Speaker 3: If you can't figure out there's zero pressure and you
- 29:05Speaker 3: don't have an answer, we're going to keep bringing it.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Yeah, when they bring seven up, you think they're bringing zero. Yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 1: so you think if you get the ball out real fast,
- 29:12Speaker 1: then all of a sudden they drop and then only
- 29:13Speaker 1: rushing three or four.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Well yeah, and then the next time they bring them
- 29:17Speaker 3: all the one guy that rushes is the guy that
- 29:20Speaker 3: you slide away from.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 29:22Speaker 3: So it's like there's just there's there's a lot of
- 29:25Speaker 3: there's good ways to handle it and there's bad ways
- 29:27Speaker 3: to handle it, and you know, we didn't.
- 29:29Speaker 2: We didn't handle it the best that you could have.
- 29:31Speaker 1: When you say that was stuffy you could have done
- 29:32Speaker 1: for protection? Yeah, was it like a development thing for
- 29:35Speaker 1: you when you didn't know protection very well?
- 29:38Speaker 2: I think it was just.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Kind of getting things lined up to start and then understanding, Okay,
- 29:45Speaker 3: I have five seconds on the play clock, like one
- 29:49Speaker 3: of those like damn, Like you know, I was trying
- 29:51Speaker 3: to figure stuff out with the receivers, like trying to
- 29:53Speaker 3: give them signals, and I think it was more just
- 29:56Speaker 3: trying to We should have been more in and out
- 29:59Speaker 3: of the huddle, and we were that game.
- 30:01Speaker 2: I think that was really the biggest issue.
- 30:03Speaker 3: And then we started going on the ball and it
- 30:05Speaker 3: helped a little bit, but I mean, yeah, we didn't.
- 30:08Speaker 2: We didn't have great answers for it.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Is there anything you said to the guys like, hey,
- 30:12Speaker 1: we got to get to the line faster so I
- 30:13Speaker 1: can kind of dissect this.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Thing for sure? I mean that was that was one
- 30:16Speaker 2: of the first things I said.
- 30:17Speaker 3: And then we started going no huddle, which I did
- 30:19Speaker 3: quite a bit of with Adam, which you know, he
- 30:23Speaker 3: did a lot of with Peyton in Denver, and so
- 30:27Speaker 3: that was kind of that was kind of the go
- 30:29Speaker 3: to if we were kind of struggling or in a rut,
- 30:32Speaker 3: we would go to the no huddle stuff and try
- 30:34Speaker 3: to get on the ball and create some tempo for us.
- 30:36Speaker 3: But then again, like you start to go tempo and
- 30:38Speaker 3: you go three and out, it's the defense in a
- 30:40Speaker 3: shitty position, real bad position.
- 30:42Speaker 1: And another thing about tempo too, is when you go
- 30:44Speaker 1: tempo or a two minute type of situation, usually vanilla's
- 30:47Speaker 1: down the defense quite a bit because they have to
- 30:48Speaker 1: get ready to they have to get a line up.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I don't have time to make those.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so they were just bringing zero the whole time. Yeah,
- 30:54Speaker 3: that was really putting the pressure on you. Was Yeah,
- 30:56Speaker 3: that was when we started going no huddle. They were like,
- 30:59Speaker 3: all right, we'll just keep calling it. Yeah, and uh yeah,
- 31:02Speaker 3: it was just a tough day and.
- 31:04Speaker 1: You had the unanimous staying saying you got you were
- 31:06Speaker 1: seeing ghosts out there, right. Yeah, Well like, hey, that's
- 31:09Speaker 1: a tough meme.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah it is.
- 31:11Speaker 3: No, it's a it's a tough thing to uh to handle,
- 31:14Speaker 3: you know, to this day.
- 31:15Speaker 1: But uh so when all that, when all that stuff cycling,
- 31:17Speaker 1: what do you what are you thinking about that?
- 31:19Speaker 3: It's it's interesting because like in our room, in a
- 31:23Speaker 3: quarterback room, we would we would see guys kind of
- 31:27Speaker 3: like in the pocket, you know, you have some quarterbacks
- 31:30Speaker 3: flinch a little bit.
- 31:31Speaker 2: We would say, oh, they're seeing ghost out there.
- 31:33Speaker 3: And so like I just like said that to my
- 31:37Speaker 3: coach at the time, you know, when we were down
- 31:38Speaker 3: forty to nothing. Yea, I was just pissed and I
- 31:41Speaker 3: didn't know what to say, to be honest, and it
- 31:44Speaker 3: just it happened.
- 31:46Speaker 2: And they they got it on live TV. So you
- 31:49Speaker 2: think that were you miked up? Oh you fucked up. Yeah,
- 31:53Speaker 2: that's on you.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I was hoping it'd be like a coach or something
- 31:55Speaker 1: like that, but you you sold yourself out.
- 31:57Speaker 3: No, it's for sure on me. I'll take that one
- 31:59Speaker 3: of the grave. I'll take that one to the grave.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Shout doubt.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Dude. That's gotta be a tough deal. But hey, listen,
- 32:04Speaker 1: everyone has bad games. It's tough, yeeah.
- 32:07Speaker 3: And listen, that was that was the worst game by
- 32:10Speaker 3: far that I've ever played in my life. And I
- 32:14Speaker 3: own up to it.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I got to own up to it. But that
- 32:18Speaker 1: week after, like you play Sunday and then Monday you're
- 32:20Speaker 1: just like.
- 32:22Speaker 2: No, it was Monday night, so Tuesday morning, Tuesday morning.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Thank god. It's a short week though, Yeah, one less
- 32:28Speaker 1: way to move on you want to, Yeah, because that stuff, man,
- 32:31Speaker 1: when you when you have one of those games, like
- 32:32Speaker 1: I have my we talk about all the time of
- 32:34Speaker 1: week one. You kind of sit there and we played
- 32:36Speaker 1: at noon on Sunday, so I had the full week
- 32:39Speaker 1: to think about I'm just a piece of shit, now,
- 32:41Speaker 1: aren't I. I'm just I'm garbage out here.
- 32:42Speaker 2: And then pay attention to the media and oh hey listen,
- 32:45Speaker 2: start saying, ah, you know you suck, dude. Yeah, try
- 32:48Speaker 2: to go find a different profession.
- 32:49Speaker 1: It's it's bad too. Are just wild? Yeah? Should I
- 32:54Speaker 1: do something different?
- 32:55Speaker 2: Maybe they're right, Yeah, it's dude.
- 32:57Speaker 1: It's it's just crazy how people want to manipulate things
- 33:00Speaker 1: and if you go one bad game or something happens,
- 33:03Speaker 1: especially being at quarterback, I feel like it's part of
- 33:05Speaker 1: the deal. But at quarterback, you you live and die
- 33:08Speaker 1: with the franchise. Like if things are going well, it's like, wow,
- 33:11Speaker 1: this dude's just stud But look how great the defense is.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Look how good wide receivers are. But when things aren't good,
- 33:15Speaker 1: they're like, it's Sam, it's his fault, it's the quarterback's fault.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Does that seem fair to you to have all that
- 33:21Speaker 1: kind of pressure all the time for quarterbacks, not just
- 33:24Speaker 1: for you.
- 33:24Speaker 3: I think it is for sure. Why is that the money?
- 33:28Speaker 3: I mean the money that's you know, there's.
- 33:29Speaker 1: A thirty million dollar deal of twenty years what time
- 33:31Speaker 1: twenty million signing about us?
- 33:33Speaker 2: It was something like that.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you know exactly.
- 33:35Speaker 2: What it was.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Don't do that. I don't do that, dude.
- 33:39Speaker 3: But uh no, but it's again, like I'm half joking
- 33:43Speaker 3: about the money thing. You get ready all week and
- 33:48Speaker 3: you know there's a reason that the franchise lives and
- 33:51Speaker 3: dies with the quarterback. Yeah, because you're the one out there.
- 33:54Speaker 3: You got the ball in your hand every single play.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Like and it really has become more and more as
- 34:00Speaker 3: as the game keeps progressing, it's becoming more and more
- 34:02Speaker 3: of a quarterback league, and you know, it's it's great.
- 34:06Speaker 3: You know, I think it's great for the game. You know,
- 34:08Speaker 3: like when numbers are going up, you know, passing statistics
- 34:12Speaker 3: are going up, I think it's great.
- 34:13Speaker 2: TV.
- 34:14Speaker 3: You know, for people to watch and all that. But yeah,
- 34:18Speaker 3: it's kind of my take on it. But I really
- 34:19Speaker 3: do think it. You know, some of it's not warranted,
- 34:22Speaker 3: don't get me wrong. There's some stuff that people say
- 34:24Speaker 3: that you know, yeah, people put a keyboard coach and
- 34:27Speaker 3: they know exactly what's going on. They really have no idea.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 34:32Speaker 3: That that part's tough. And then you know there's sometimes
- 34:34Speaker 3: where like some guy gets it.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Like spot on.
- 34:36Speaker 3: You know, he's like the keyboard coast and he's like
- 34:38Speaker 3: he's like, dude, should have seen this, like to the left.
- 34:41Speaker 3: You should have slid it to the left and got
- 34:42Speaker 3: the back out. You're like, dang, dude, He's right, yeah.
- 34:45Speaker 1: I should have. I should have done that. That's so funny, dude.
- 34:48Speaker 3: But but no, it's it really happens. But uh yeah, man,
- 34:52Speaker 3: it's it's part of the deal.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Do you do a lot of mental work at all
- 34:55Speaker 1: during the off season anything like that.
- 34:58Speaker 3: I I started to a little bit a couple of
- 35:00Speaker 3: years ago, just working with someone who not even for football.
- 35:06Speaker 3: It was just to kind of clear my mind. And
- 35:08Speaker 3: then there's some you know, just some low key like
- 35:11Speaker 3: meditation that I would do, like just by myself, like
- 35:13Speaker 3: in the morning or at night before I go to bed,
- 35:15Speaker 3: and uh, just clear clear in my head.
- 35:17Speaker 1: But do you use an app? Do you like do
- 35:18Speaker 1: you like the call map or something with that headspace?
- 35:20Speaker 2: It's a little bit.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I just mess with a little bit if I
- 35:23Speaker 3: feel like I need it or if I feel like
- 35:25Speaker 3: i'm you know, why am I feeling a certain way?
- 35:27Speaker 3: Like you know what I mean? So sometimes I feel
- 35:30Speaker 3: like I need it more more days than others. But
- 35:33Speaker 3: I think all that stuff's great though. Yeah, I think
- 35:35Speaker 3: there's I don't think you can talk enough about mental health,
- 35:39Speaker 3: and especially in the NFL.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Why do you think it's become such a thing lately
- 35:42Speaker 1: and in the last three four years, it's really the
- 35:44Speaker 1: mental health has people have talked about so much more
- 35:47Speaker 1: than they have in the past.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 3: I just think there's so much more attention around things
- 35:52Speaker 3: that wouldn't otherwise get attention because of social media. You know,
- 35:55Speaker 3: you have such a you have such more of a
- 36:00Speaker 3: you're just kind of a fly on the wall in
- 36:02Speaker 3: anyone's life now, you know, if you follow whoever it
- 36:05Speaker 3: is like Dak Prescott, you know, talking about mental health
- 36:07Speaker 3: I think is great, you know, because you look on
- 36:11Speaker 3: Sundays and you look on the field and he's rushing
- 36:13Speaker 3: it and you're like, dude, this guy makes you know,
- 36:17Speaker 3: you know.
- 36:17Speaker 2: He's just killing life in general.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Like he's throwing touchdowns, he's playing for the Dallas Cowboys,
- 36:22Speaker 3: like you almost feel like he's invincible. And then all
- 36:25Speaker 3: of a sudden he comes out with you know, all
- 36:28Speaker 3: these mental struggles that he's been dealing with, and you know,
- 36:32Speaker 3: you don't realize it, but a lot of a lot
- 36:34Speaker 3: of people deal with the same stuff, you know, huge actors,
- 36:38Speaker 3: a bunch of different people.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Do you think that like the mental side of things
- 36:43Speaker 1: has kind of been brought up more because, like you said,
- 36:46Speaker 1: so many people have more access and like a lot
- 36:48Speaker 1: of these guys and like the old school dudes played
- 36:50Speaker 1: ten twenty thirty years ago, like this is so soft now,
- 36:53Speaker 1: but they don't realize that it used to be a
- 36:56Speaker 1: newspaper clipping and that would be your news and what
- 36:58Speaker 1: happened in the game before, and you wouldn't see what
- 37:00Speaker 1: everybody else is saying. But now to click up a button,
- 37:02Speaker 1: you can learn what everybody's thinking about you always great point.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great point. I think it is different.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I think everything's just different.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think to now there are there are some
- 37:12Speaker 3: times where I'm like, okay that, you know, that's pretty soft.
- 37:14Speaker 3: You know some of the things that would happen in
- 37:16Speaker 3: terms of you know, guys, you know, missing practice for
- 37:20Speaker 3: one thing or the other.
- 37:22Speaker 2: You know, I think.
- 37:23Speaker 3: There's there's a lot of like the basketball talk I
- 37:26Speaker 3: think is very interesting, like when you hear when you
- 37:28Speaker 3: hear guys like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird criticizing guys for
- 37:31Speaker 3: like missing games during the middle of the season, and
- 37:34Speaker 3: you know, I get some of that, but now, you know,
- 37:38Speaker 3: you look at guys like Lebron who like to do that,
- 37:41Speaker 3: and Lebron's and what his nineteenth eighteenth, nineteenth years as
- 37:46Speaker 3: he's a freaking machine.
- 37:49Speaker 2: And so when that when a.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Guy like that sits out a game and gets a
- 37:53Speaker 3: bunch of flag for it, I'm like, dude, you can't.
- 37:55Speaker 3: You can't really give him ship for missing a game. Yeah,
- 37:59Speaker 3: you know, look at what he's with his career. Look
- 38:00Speaker 3: how he literally brought Cleveland up from nothing.
- 38:05Speaker 1: He brought Cleveland for nothing. And then also, like Michael Jordan,
- 38:08Speaker 1: you everybody watched the documentary The Last Dance, and he
- 38:11Speaker 1: would you know, have a couple of beers before a game,
- 38:13Speaker 1: eat a pizza, and.
- 38:14Speaker 2: That's around of golf.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll play around the golf and before playing around
- 38:18Speaker 1: a golf the day, imagine playing around a golf in
- 38:20Speaker 1: general in my life. Yeah, that's a hard ass sport.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Play eighteen holes. I mean, I can't do it. I know,
- 38:24Speaker 1: those a couple of guys in the back. I'm out there,
- 38:27Speaker 1: I play three holes and I sit in the cart
- 38:28Speaker 1: and run. I can't do this. A whistle pig and
- 38:31Speaker 1: I just move on. But gotta gotta plug it a
- 38:35Speaker 1: little bit too. Idn't even talk about the Chevy Silverado,
- 38:37Speaker 1: the most durable vehicle, But with with Michael Dude, it
- 38:41Speaker 1: just seemed like as things have advanced more in science
- 38:46Speaker 1: and how the body works and all the things you
- 38:48Speaker 1: can do for your body, now it's I think in basketball,
- 38:51Speaker 1: you play so many games for Lebron, especially at his
- 38:54Speaker 1: age too, to take a couple of games sit and
- 38:57Speaker 1: not play, I mean, I think that's that's the move. Now.
- 39:00Speaker 1: You would argue that people paid good money, they work
- 39:02Speaker 1: super hard to come and see Lebron, come and see Kobe,
- 39:05Speaker 1: come and see those dudes. Rest in peace, Kobe, but
- 39:08Speaker 1: come and see these guys. But at the same time, like,
- 39:10Speaker 1: the whole goal when you play a sport is to
- 39:12Speaker 1: win whatever it is at the end, whether it's a
- 39:14Speaker 1: super Bowl, the NBA Finals, all that stuff, and so
- 39:17Speaker 1: I think that's a smart move by him to be
- 39:18Speaker 1: able to do that.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you see that thing with Eric Church going
- 39:22Speaker 2: to the UNC game?
- 39:22Speaker 1: Yes, dude, Oh my god, what do you think about that?
- 39:25Speaker 1: He just did in the squad?
- 39:27Speaker 2: He did? He did, But at the same time, was
- 39:29Speaker 2: it not for the boys move A huge er Church
- 39:31Speaker 2: fan too. He refunded the tickets though.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Of everyone that went, now, they were complaining about flights
- 39:35Speaker 3: and hotels and stuff like that, which I get. But
- 39:38Speaker 3: it's also one of it's his dream, you know, to
- 39:41Speaker 3: go see a UNC duke Final four.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Yeah, no is what's his name's last game too, right,
- 39:46Speaker 1: coach k Yeah, But uh.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I don't know, I'm I'm kind of I don't know.
- 39:52Speaker 3: I don't know if I want to take a side,
- 39:54Speaker 3: but I lean towards Eric Church just because, like it
- 39:58Speaker 3: might be part of your dream to go see Eric
- 40:01Speaker 3: Church in concert, but it's literally his childhood dream to
- 40:04Speaker 3: go watch you and.
- 40:04Speaker 2: See duke playing the Final four.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so like where does where do you draw the
- 40:07Speaker 3: line of like whose fault is it?
- 40:09Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 40:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's I mean just to play Devil's advocate. You
- 40:12Speaker 1: if you make a commitment to go do something and
- 40:15Speaker 1: there's nothing restricting you other than a want, Like he
- 40:17Speaker 1: signed up for it. You signed up to be a
- 40:19Speaker 1: quarterback in the NFL, So regardless of how you feel
- 40:22Speaker 1: on Sunday, you're gonna go out there and play. I
- 40:23Speaker 1: signed up to be a left people, you know if
- 40:25Speaker 1: I would if I just dipped. We're about to play
- 40:27Speaker 1: the Ravens one day and I'm like, hey, I love it,
- 40:30Speaker 1: but this team's playing this team. I really want to
- 40:31Speaker 1: go see it. Hey, it's my brother's birthday. It actually
- 40:34Speaker 1: doesn't happen, you know what I'm saying. A big Michigan
- 40:36Speaker 1: Ohio State game this weekend. Guys, I'm not gonna be
- 40:38Speaker 1: able to go. Third week in November, I just can't.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I can't play hopefully the bie weeks. Then it's like
- 40:43Speaker 1: this doesn't just doesn't work that way, you know. Yeah? Sure,
- 40:46Speaker 1: But I mean Eric Church, especially in the country music world,
- 40:49Speaker 1: he's a He's a legend like that. I love his music.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I think he has three or four albums that just
- 40:54Speaker 1: absolutely slay. But uh, I don't know if that's like
- 40:58Speaker 1: the I mean, I don't think it's the best move
- 40:59Speaker 1: to go and do that. Now he can do whatever
- 41:01Speaker 1: he wants with his life. He's still going to go
- 41:03Speaker 1: play that same venue probably a year later and sell
- 41:06Speaker 1: it out and it's gonna be just fine. He's just
- 41:09Speaker 1: gonna catch a little flak right now and move on. Yeah,
- 41:12Speaker 1: it's tough, dude. Yeah, Erek Church, thing is wild.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you think like the best way to
- 41:16Speaker 3: handle stuff like that is in terms of maybe not
- 41:20Speaker 3: the Will Smith, but like Eric Church and like other
- 41:22Speaker 3: things that come out about people like do you think
- 41:26Speaker 3: it's best to like post right away or do you
- 41:28Speaker 3: think it's you just kind of eat it and then
- 41:30Speaker 3: kind of let time.
- 41:31Speaker 1: So if you if you're Eric Church, you like, well
- 41:33Speaker 1: what I say. If I was Eric Church, I would
- 41:35Speaker 1: get out in front of it like he did. And
- 41:37Speaker 1: I think I'm a big get out in front of things. Guy.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I like to if I fuck up something, if I
- 41:42Speaker 1: do something wrong, I feel like I have to tell
- 41:44Speaker 1: everybody around me because there's a part of me that
- 41:46Speaker 1: has like this anxiety about if I know I did
- 41:49Speaker 1: something wrong and everybody else here knows it did something wrong,
- 41:52Speaker 1: there's like this barrier that like they're thinking it and
- 41:55Speaker 1: I know it, so like and we're not talking about it.
- 41:58Speaker 1: For me, I'm like, I just got to talk about
- 41:59Speaker 1: it to make sure, like this is what I was thinking,
- 42:02Speaker 1: this is what happened, and then that's that's just how
- 42:04Speaker 1: I am. I think you can go a lot of
- 42:06Speaker 1: ways about it, but yeah, I I mean there's a
- 42:09Speaker 1: lot of stuff I see where I'm like, why wouldn't
- 42:11Speaker 1: someone just say it something like this right away, Like
- 42:13Speaker 1: if you know you're agents speaking for you in a
- 42:15Speaker 1: contract negotiation. I like when I was doing my contract
- 42:18Speaker 1: with John Robinson, I just went and spoke to him
- 42:21Speaker 1: and they're like, hey, you shouldn't go do that, you
- 42:23Speaker 1: shouldn't go do xcell. I'm like, yeah, I gotta get
- 42:25Speaker 1: up there and just see him face to face and
- 42:27Speaker 1: be like this is how I feel. Where what are
- 42:29Speaker 1: you thinking? And then it takes the business out of it,
- 42:31Speaker 1: and now you're having a personal conversation. Yeah, I mean,
- 42:34Speaker 1: I I think so I'm still here, you know, so
- 42:36Speaker 1: things are going all right, but what would you do
- 42:38Speaker 1: would you let everybody else handle it? Yeah? You like
- 42:41Speaker 1: that too? Yeah, I think that's definitely the move. Dude.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Should we do that Tier talk now? Because I know
- 42:47Speaker 1: we have to do too. So we have two segments.
- 42:49Speaker 1: There's a locker room talk and the tier talk, which
- 42:53Speaker 1: is kind of redundant.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Uh huh Okay, I've stadium's played in top five wide receivers,
- 43:01Speaker 3: he's ever played with?
- 43:02Speaker 1: God, that's tough. Well, I guess I'll give you that.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Which what do you want to do?
- 43:07Speaker 2: Definitely need some top five qbs to ever play it,
- 43:10Speaker 2: you'll do. I'll do that.
- 43:11Speaker 1: We'll do that, Okay, so I could do. I mean
- 43:13Speaker 1: the way the way Bust Want the Boys work is
- 43:16Speaker 1: we have tears so tier ones, the die hard cats
- 43:18Speaker 1: on our podcast, the ones that get tattoos. You guys
- 43:20Speaker 1: see the guy who got a tattoo on his stye,
- 43:23Speaker 1: but he had to be with the with the horns
- 43:25Speaker 1: and everything. I love to if we can put up
- 43:27Speaker 1: his little name in that picture in this video.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Does this guy have a lot of tats?
- 43:31Speaker 1: It looked it was a bare leg. It looked like
- 43:33Speaker 1: a bare leg. Outstanding tattoo. I hit a great tattoo artists.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It's different if you're like tatted up, you know what
- 43:38Speaker 2: I mean.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're done, you can kind of just do whatever.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Yeah, whatever you want. Yeah, no one's going to see anything.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Right, So when so he would be qualified as a
- 43:46Speaker 1: Tier one guy. Tier twos like you follow, you comment,
- 43:49Speaker 1: you subscribe, you rate five stars, those types of things,
- 43:52Speaker 1: and then Tier three of the people that kind of
- 43:53Speaker 1: sit in the background and then you see like a
- 43:55Speaker 1: friend or something, then like hey, I heard you're doing
- 43:56Speaker 1: pretty good. I had the podcast is doing all right?
- 43:58Speaker 1: That type of thing. That's a Tier three guy, got it?
- 44:01Speaker 1: So on these tier talk options, if you give me
- 44:04Speaker 1: your top five quarterbacks. So I guess we're doing five
- 44:05Speaker 1: tiers today, boys, in order in order of who you
- 44:09Speaker 1: want hit the hit the names. You can talk about
- 44:12Speaker 1: him if you want. You don't have to talk, you
- 44:13Speaker 1: can just hit us right away. But I need your
- 44:15Speaker 1: tier one, two, three, four, and five of these names
- 44:18Speaker 1: on the board.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Yep, can the audience see who's on the board.
- 44:23Speaker 1: We'll put it up from that's fine. Yeah, loss is
- 44:25Speaker 1: a whiz back there.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Yeah mm hmm.
- 44:31Speaker 1: See a couple of names coming out right now. I'd
- 44:33Speaker 1: go Carson one, Carson one, Okay, yeah, Carson Palmer. Why
- 44:38Speaker 1: Carson Palmer, I think just I mean, he won a
- 44:44Speaker 1: heisman at SC, won a national championship, and for a
- 44:51Speaker 1: lot of people that don't know, he actually had a
- 44:53Speaker 1: great career, had some injuries that he's dealt with, and
- 44:57Speaker 1: you know, kind of handled it I think very perfect.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I could have thrown some people under the bus too
- 45:04Speaker 1: in terms of what happened in his career in terms
- 45:06Speaker 1: of some some different things with some certain teams. But
- 45:12Speaker 1: I think he handled it like a pro and I
- 45:14Speaker 1: just respect him.
- 45:15Speaker 3: A ton and he's a baller. Go Liner Yeah.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Line is just stunning man him. We said before
- 45:25Speaker 1: him and Reggie Bush, that little duo they had it.
- 45:29Speaker 2: The sikest thing to grow up and watch them playful
- 45:35Speaker 2: about that name above, Matt Liner And what do you
- 45:36Speaker 2: think about that one? No, I don't recognize it.
- 45:39Speaker 1: No, no, no either.
- 45:45Speaker 3: So I know this is this is tough because I
- 45:47Speaker 3: know Mark and Matt Sanchez and Barkley.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Yeah, so I hope they're listening right here and we
- 45:53Speaker 2: can haven't.
- 45:54Speaker 1: I mean, Mark's much more handsome than Matt. Yeah that's
- 45:58Speaker 1: debatable as well, you think, so it.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Just depends, you know, if you're into you know, you know, yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 3: exactly the whole thing that Mark has going on.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Maddie.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Big NFT guy, Matt the.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Ft bitcoin guy. Shoot, uh, I'm gonna go Mark. I'm
- 46:21Speaker 2: gonna go Mark.
- 46:24Speaker 1: How does Matt feel about that he follows the pod?
- 46:26Speaker 3: I know, I'm just gonna go Mark just because, I mean,
- 46:30Speaker 3: i mean, Matt did some great things that s see.
- 46:31Speaker 3: But you know, I think he would have won a
- 46:34Speaker 3: Natty with that team that wasn't allowed to win a
- 46:36Speaker 3: Natty is the sanctions shout up, Carol.
- 46:40Speaker 2: But yeah, Mark won the Rose Bowl and stuff. So
- 46:43Speaker 2: Mark had a great career too. So Mark and then Matt,
- 46:46Speaker 2: and then I'd go, Rodney Pete, you're not gonna put
- 46:48Speaker 2: yourself in.
- 46:49Speaker 1: That list myself, yourself, yourself, And I said myself, but yourself,
- 46:55Speaker 1: sorry yourself?
- 46:57Speaker 2: No you Uh no, I mean I'm not gonna do that.
- 47:00Speaker 1: I don't even know who Rodney Pete is.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Rodney Pete. Look at his highlights?
- 47:04Speaker 1: When do you play.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Sick Layer?
- 47:07Speaker 3: I don't even know, but uh, I've seen some of
- 47:09Speaker 3: his highlights just being around sc You're just.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Being too humble on this podcast right now. No, dude,
- 47:17Speaker 1: we put in the eighties. Yeah, get the fuck out
- 47:19Speaker 1: of here, dude, pull a different game. Leather helmets and
- 47:22Speaker 1: ship back then or whatever it is.
- 47:24Speaker 2: He had a solid NFL career too.
- 47:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 47:29Speaker 2: It's tough, dude, because you didn't grow up with it
- 47:31Speaker 2: and you don't know.
- 47:32Speaker 1: And doing these tiers too, are difficult because you've got
- 47:35Speaker 1: to take away the NFL part because you just gotta
- 47:37Speaker 1: talk about college. Because Mark Sanchez, you have the butt fumble, right,
- 47:42Speaker 1: you can probably put the thing. I don't know, that's
- 47:44Speaker 1: all I remember. That's all I know. Yeah, that thing
- 47:47Speaker 1: lived in the not top ten forever, right, yeah, months years.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I think it was retired. Look did you can't even
- 47:55Speaker 1: see the film on this thing? It's so grainy? This
- 47:58Speaker 1: is like NFL Blitz two thousd.
- 48:00Speaker 3: That's Rodney Pete quarterback, right, Yeah, okay, I thought so
- 48:03Speaker 3: looks like him.
- 48:05Speaker 1: There's a dime. I mean you should have threw him
- 48:07Speaker 1: in stride, am I right? I mean it was a dime, dude,
- 48:12Speaker 1: So you put you put Rodney some did they play
- 48:13Speaker 1: in the eighties? No offense to Rodney. I'm sure I'm
- 48:16Speaker 1: positive he doesn't watch this podcast. It doesn't matter what
- 48:18Speaker 1: I say, but you you never know, you never know exactly,
- 48:22Speaker 1: but you're gonna put him over you. You're the third
- 48:24Speaker 1: overall pick in twenty eighteen, Rodney Pizza Baller.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Look at him.
- 48:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 48:30Speaker 3: We're also watching NFL highlights. If you go back to
- 48:32Speaker 3: SC highlights, the way we're judging, I guess the tier.
- 48:36Speaker 1: I want to go to USC so bad.
- 48:38Speaker 2: They were telling me before you got here.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, USC, Texas or any SEC school besides Vanderbilt
- 48:45Speaker 1: or Kentucky.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Does Michigan feel about that when you say stuff.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Like that, Well, I well, I say, when I was
- 48:49Speaker 1: in high school and then I had like an up
- 48:52Speaker 1: and down deal with Michigan towards the end of my
- 48:54Speaker 1: career there.
- 48:55Speaker 2: In terms of one of the boosters, No, I never
- 48:57Speaker 2: got paid.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Never got paid. I'm sure you did a Hollywood stuf.
- 49:00Speaker 1: There's so much. You never got money. You never got
- 49:03Speaker 1: a free meal, you never went out to eat. And
- 49:04Speaker 1: they're like, hey, go ahead, you're lying like a rug dude.
- 49:08Speaker 1: It's okay, we're out. You can't get in trouble anymore.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Actually, never got paid.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Do you know guys in your team that didn't? For sure,
- 49:14Speaker 1: We'll go ahead. What you got oh I got use
- 49:17Speaker 1: name social Security numbers. Let me hear the whole thing.
- 49:19Speaker 3: Yeah, social security numbers. I won't name any names, but
- 49:21Speaker 3: I'll give social Security numbers.
- 49:23Speaker 1: There you go. Yeah, that's uh. I mean there's lots
- 49:26Speaker 1: of dudes that people get paid all the time. I
- 49:28Speaker 1: mean sec you know what I'm talking about over their tea? Yeah, hey,
- 49:31Speaker 1: it means more allegedly. Do you think Tennessee's paying dudes
- 49:35Speaker 1: out there? Yeah? You know what I mean, dude, Yeah,
- 49:41Speaker 1: that's right. The nil thing. We'll do locker room talking
- 49:45Speaker 1: a little bit, because I said, they want us to
- 49:47Speaker 1: do this is all get cuts up too, So sound
- 49:48Speaker 1: way better. We'll do locker room talking a second. So
- 49:53Speaker 1: you get you get drafted to the Jets. What is
- 49:57Speaker 1: that fan base like before you got traded.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Before I got so so when I got drafted?
- 50:05Speaker 1: Yeah when he got drafted a couple of years there. Yeah, great,
- 50:07Speaker 1: they're they're their love like that. I mean, they'll let
- 50:10Speaker 1: you know when you fuck up, there's no question. But
- 50:12Speaker 1: they they seem like they're like on par with the Eagles.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:16Speaker 3: No, it's it's a very I mean they're devotional fans
- 50:20Speaker 3: man like they're there would be. There would be games where,
- 50:23Speaker 3: you know, where season's not going great, and they would
- 50:27Speaker 3: The stadium was I mean pretty pretty solid. It was
- 50:30Speaker 3: fun to play in loud dude. It was a great
- 50:34Speaker 3: fan base, loyal.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Loved them.
- 50:38Speaker 3: But yeah, you know, thinks things don't go well and
- 50:41Speaker 3: they'll let you know about it.
- 50:42Speaker 2: I respect honestly. Yeah, your face though, you're playing a.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Little vanilla on me right now, and I know there's
- 50:48Speaker 1: a little something behind that. They probably passed you off,
- 50:50Speaker 1: those Jets fans.
- 50:51Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, you know, there's there's a lot that
- 50:55Speaker 3: you know, people would say stuff, and you know, but again,
- 50:59Speaker 3: like I said, like when you when you're in the
- 51:01Speaker 3: social media world and people are talking so much shit online,
- 51:05Speaker 3: you respect it so much more when people say it
- 51:07Speaker 3: to your face.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I uh, There's only been a handful of time
- 51:10Speaker 1: someone says, um too my face, right, But Jets fans
- 51:12Speaker 1: really do it like that all the time. Yeah, tough.
- 51:15Speaker 1: You're going to it. You're going to a little deli
- 51:16Speaker 1: out there grabbing a sandwich.
- 51:19Speaker 3: There was a place so I love so I love
- 51:21Speaker 3: this place in New Jersey. I'm not going to say
- 51:24Speaker 3: the name.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Okay, you have no free shoutouts.
- 51:26Speaker 3: I love that, yeah, and I don't live there anymore,
- 51:31Speaker 3: so but uh no, great people, but there would be
- 51:35Speaker 3: people that would All the people that go there are
- 51:38Speaker 3: Jets fans, like they have like the old school like
- 51:41Speaker 3: eighties letterman jacket, like you know, I'm like did you
- 51:44Speaker 3: play for the Jets or like nah, I'm just a
- 51:45Speaker 3: big fan. And uh so they're extra hard hats, like
- 51:49Speaker 3: they're all the Fireman ad guys. So no, but like
- 51:54Speaker 3: great fans, but they they would definitely be like, hey,
- 51:56Speaker 3: what the fuck are we doing? Like can we can
- 51:58Speaker 3: we get the ball to a Can we put Damarius
- 52:01Speaker 3: Thomas out there more often? Like when he catches the ball,
- 52:03Speaker 3: he does something with it every time, and it's like, hey,
- 52:06Speaker 3: you're not wrong, like I hear you. He's he's dealing
- 52:10Speaker 3: with some some hamstring issues right right, But they don't
- 52:13Speaker 3: care about that all about you know what I mean. Uh,
- 52:17Speaker 3: And so it's just stuff like that. But honestly, it
- 52:19Speaker 3: was It's fun to have those conversations, you know what
- 52:21Speaker 3: I mean, because they're like critiquing, like what we should
- 52:24Speaker 3: do and strategy and stuff like that. The part that
- 52:28Speaker 3: pisses me off is when people judge like my game,
- 52:31Speaker 3: like how I'm playing. Then I'm like, hey, Bud, like
- 52:35Speaker 3: go strap it up, like yeah, you know what I mean.
- 52:37Speaker 3: Like I was like, you're a fan, and I respect
- 52:40Speaker 3: you being a fan, and you can talk all the
- 52:42Speaker 3: shit you want and I'm not going to do anything
- 52:44Speaker 3: about it at the end.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Of the day.
- 52:46Speaker 3: But like take it easy, Like like what if I
- 52:50Speaker 3: was like, hey, like the house you just worked on,
- 52:54Speaker 3: piece of shit, Like you're you're so bad at tiling,
- 53:00Speaker 3: Like really, go get another job, really think about your profession. Yeah,
- 53:04Speaker 3: you know, it's like sometimes you just want to say
- 53:05Speaker 3: stuff like that, but you can't.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Well why not?
- 53:08Speaker 2: I mean, yeah I could, Yeah you're going.
- 53:10Speaker 1: To No, I'm with you. I wouldn't say that either.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:12Speaker 1: Yeah. It always sounds so good to think about because
- 53:15Speaker 1: you're on that on that Twitter, you see somebody say something.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Like yeah, like even now I feel like a coward,
- 53:19Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Yeah, damn, Like now.
- 53:21Speaker 3: I feel like a coward like that guy, that guy
- 53:23Speaker 3: that's sitting here listening to that podcast like that the
- 53:25Speaker 3: Jets fans, Like, now I actually know what he wanted
- 53:28Speaker 3: to say to me, but he didn't.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Oh, there's an actual Tyler out there.
- 53:31Speaker 2: No, I don't know, I don't know. It probably was
- 53:33Speaker 2: Carpenter and like, yeah.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, that is a fucking tough deal when people
- 53:37Speaker 1: talk shit like that because you think they think they
- 53:39Speaker 1: can do it. You go out to a bar and
- 53:41Speaker 1: people say something to you and they're like, hey, what whatever,
- 53:43Speaker 1: you guys do this? Instead it's like, well, why aren't
- 53:45Speaker 1: you the coach? Why are you doing this whole thing?
- 53:48Speaker 1: Because they can't love the fans. I don't want to
- 53:51Speaker 1: feel like I'm being harder than he is. You're being
- 53:53Speaker 1: You're being so nice. I feel like I'm being a
- 53:55Speaker 1: little too much of an asshole right now.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Yeah. It's like when we were talking about Max earlier. Yeah, yeah,
- 53:59Speaker 2: I feel bad about that to ioham a written apology,
- 54:01Speaker 2: just kind of shipping on him right away.
- 54:03Speaker 1: He's a great guy. I'm like, yeah, but he is
- 54:05Speaker 1: just playing both sides of the fence on you. So
- 54:07Speaker 1: when when the when you started hearing trade rumors about everything,
- 54:11Speaker 1: how did that process go for you? Like, did like
- 54:14Speaker 1: did they tell you, hey, we're thinking about trading you.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Did you hear it from the media first? What was
- 54:17Speaker 1: that whole process?
- 54:18Speaker 3: Like there they were, they were just like, hey, we
- 54:25Speaker 3: got to figure some stuff out when I was leaving.
- 54:27Speaker 2: This is exit interview, like raving season. So they don't
- 54:29Speaker 2: know anything.
- 54:31Speaker 3: They might know what they want to do, but they
- 54:33Speaker 3: don't know exactly how they're going to do it. So
- 54:35Speaker 3: they just tell me, hey, we're gonna we're gonna look
- 54:37Speaker 3: at you know, people in the draft and uh free
- 54:40Speaker 3: agents and like, you know, we'll be in touch. And
- 54:42Speaker 3: so right right when they said that, I was like, okay,
- 54:44Speaker 3: like it's it's a wrap.
- 54:46Speaker 1: So how did that make you feel when you heard
- 54:47Speaker 1: all that? I was just like, you know, I think
- 54:49Speaker 1: you guys are making a mistake.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Obviously told him that, Yeah, for sure, nice work, but
- 54:55Speaker 3: like you know, at the end of the day, it's
- 54:57Speaker 3: it's not you know, that's not my call. So if
- 55:01Speaker 3: you know they don't think I'm the guy for them,
- 55:03Speaker 3: then you know it is what it is. But so
- 55:07Speaker 3: I just kind of reached out to my agent. I
- 55:08Speaker 3: was just like, hey, like I'm not going to pay attention.
- 55:10Speaker 3: I'm I'm gonna like not pay attention to social media
- 55:13Speaker 3: at all, just like let me know if what happens.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Like I was like, if you want to, like tell
- 55:18Speaker 3: me rumors like, I'm fine with that, like rumors that are.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Real, not just like yeah bullshit.
- 55:25Speaker 3: So yeah, so I was just like, let me know
- 55:27Speaker 3: if anything changes, and then got a call. I don't
- 55:31Speaker 3: even know when, but I think it was a little
- 55:34Speaker 3: bit before the draft and they're like, yeah, we're gonna
- 55:38Speaker 3: all right. It was from my agent first of all.
- 55:40Speaker 3: Literally it was it was crazy. So my agent calls me.
- 55:42Speaker 3: He was like, hey, like, the Panthers are trading for you.
- 55:45Speaker 3: It's gonna come out here in a second. And like,
- 55:47Speaker 3: right as he's saying that, my phone rings had a
- 55:49Speaker 3: call from Joe Douglas, the GM with the Jets. I
- 55:52Speaker 3: was like, hey, like the GMS call me. I got
- 55:55Speaker 3: to pick this up real quick. And so Joe called
- 55:58Speaker 3: me and very respect just pull me straight up what
- 56:01Speaker 3: the deal was. And uh I was like all right,
- 56:05Speaker 3: you know, sounds good.
- 56:07Speaker 1: No, no, thank you nothing, you'res like all right, see ya.
- 56:10Speaker 2: No.
- 56:11Speaker 3: He was like, hey, we appreciate everything you've done for
- 56:14Speaker 3: the organization ever since you've gotten here, but we're gonna,
- 56:17Speaker 3: you know, move in a different direction.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and uh yeah, so was it when we were
- 56:23Speaker 1: talking about how like we like to get in front
- 56:25Speaker 1: of things like when somebody knows something you don't, or
- 56:28Speaker 1: you know that somebody knows something. When you're going through
- 56:31Speaker 1: that process when you talk to the team and they say, hey,
- 56:34Speaker 1: we'll let you know how everything goes. And then between
- 56:36Speaker 1: that and before the draft you get traded, how you like,
- 56:39Speaker 1: how are you processing those emotions of like wondering because
- 56:42Speaker 1: you know you're not looking at social media, but at
- 56:44Speaker 1: the same time, you know there's stuff out there saying X,
- 56:47Speaker 1: Y and Z, because I mean it's a huge media
- 56:49Speaker 1: market with the Jets. People talk about them all the time.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's it's tough, dude, because like, you
- 56:56Speaker 3: what are we doing.
- 56:57Speaker 1: I know, I'm getting fucking clown horn going off. I'm
- 57:01Speaker 1: a very popular guy.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Uh. I was joking by the way, I know you were,
- 57:06Speaker 2: or Taylor's like, I'm gonna kill this guy.
- 57:09Speaker 1: Guys, I fucked this dude, Man, get him out of here.
- 57:13Speaker 3: No, but uh, it was it was weird because, like,
- 57:16Speaker 3: you know, I have that conversation the exit interview, and
- 57:18Speaker 3: then I just go about, you know, my business as usual,
- 57:21Speaker 3: and I'm like, because we the uh they hired Robert Sala,
- 57:25Speaker 3: the new coach of the Jets, and uh, I'm talking
- 57:28Speaker 3: to the OC like Michael Floor and Matt's.
- 57:31Speaker 2: Brother and then uh, great, nap, you know, rest his soul.
- 57:37Speaker 3: But I mean we were in conversation for you know,
- 57:40Speaker 3: up until I got traded, basically about the offense, what
- 57:43Speaker 3: we're gonna do.
- 57:44Speaker 2: And so when you're.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so when they're calling, you're talking about what they're
- 57:46Speaker 1: gonna do. Were you like, oh, I'm safe.
- 57:51Speaker 3: No, I mean because I knew, you know, like I
- 57:53Speaker 3: said in the exit interview, I was like, Okay, I
- 57:55Speaker 3: feel like these guys are leaning, you know, in a
- 57:58Speaker 3: different direction.
- 57:59Speaker 2: So I always knew that deep down.
- 58:00Speaker 3: But you know, like anything I do, I was just like,
- 58:04Speaker 3: I'm just gonna you know, put everything I got and
- 58:06Speaker 3: to learn this new offense and if it works out,
- 58:08Speaker 3: it doesn't, you know, if it works out, it does,
- 58:10Speaker 3: it doesn't, it doesn't. Yeah, And uh that was just
- 58:13Speaker 3: kind of my mindset going into it. I was like,
- 58:16Speaker 3: I might as well, like keep myself busy, learn the offense,
- 58:19Speaker 3: and work out and do all the normal things that
- 58:21Speaker 3: I do. And you know, because the worst thing is
- 58:23Speaker 3: like sitting on something, you know, just just sitting you know,
- 58:26Speaker 3: waiting to see what happens. It's like, just keep yourself busy.
- 58:29Speaker 3: That's that's how I kind of deal with stuff like that. Honestly.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a plow through right in the middle guy.
- 58:34Speaker 1: I gotta worry about and figure it out. I gotta
- 58:36Speaker 1: I gotta know what the hell is going on in
- 58:37Speaker 1: my life. But I respect that though. I respect what
- 58:40Speaker 1: you're talking about. Look at us back on the same page,
- 58:43Speaker 1: insulting my phone and me, and now look at us,
- 58:45Speaker 1: we're back to being best friends again.
- 58:46Speaker 2: Just so popular.
- 58:47Speaker 1: I love it so popular. I have three text messages.
- 58:49Speaker 1: I think they're all for my wife. So you get
- 58:52Speaker 1: trade to the Panthers, the GM calls you and he says, hey,
- 58:54Speaker 1: appreciate everything you've done. Blah blah blah. What's the next part.
- 58:57Speaker 1: What is it like when you're getting traded? Like, what
- 58:58Speaker 1: is that? Has that work? Do you go immediately to
- 59:01Speaker 1: Carolina ye to figure it all out?
- 59:03Speaker 2: Yep?
- 59:04Speaker 3: So obviously talked to the GM, talked to Coach Rule,
- 59:09Speaker 3: went to Carolina, met everyone met. There are probably like
- 59:13Speaker 3: four or five players that were actually their training So
- 59:16Speaker 3: met some of the guys, talked some of the guys
- 59:18Speaker 3: on social media through text, had a dinner with some
- 59:23Speaker 3: of the guys as well, with like GM owner, head coach,
- 59:28Speaker 3: a few other players that were there that were in
- 59:30Speaker 3: town during the off season. And I was just there
- 59:33Speaker 3: for a couple of days, you know, did the whole
- 59:35Speaker 3: media thing, you know, sitting in front of the locker,
- 59:38Speaker 3: putting the jersey on. And yeah, and I flew back
- 59:42Speaker 3: home and started learning the offense.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Nice. And so you live in California in the off season.
- 59:47Speaker 1: It's a beautiful time, greattful time being there.
- 59:50Speaker 3: Great boyt a place four years ago, redid it through
- 59:54Speaker 3: my first season while I was in New York and
- 59:56Speaker 3: then came back and been loving it for the last
- 59:59Speaker 3: three years.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: That's awesome. So this year you start off, you start
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: three and oh, things are going great. You get injured
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: week nine. Correct, Yeah, that's what it said. Remember that's
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: what it said. Yeah, we do have notes up here.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Cam Newton comes in and takes a spot or whatever,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Like what was that process like with Cam coming back
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: and he scores a touchdown on I'm back doing all
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: that shit is obnoxious as.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: He seems Cam is the best.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I take it back. I think he's as awesome as
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: he seems best.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Dude, No, honestly, I'm being dead.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: It's so hard on us back in the day, dude,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: when he was at the when he was originally with
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: the Panthers. God, I think they won the Super Bowl
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: or I went to the Super Bowl that year. That
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: was the year I was on Wesley Woodard and Avery Williams.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: He was doing the dance and then Avery came up
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: and got in his face and he did it to
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: him again. God, Avery's a great dude. But ever since then,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: I was like, man, fuck that dude. Cam Man just
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: flexing on everybody. Guys got charisma like no one's personality
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: like you've never seen in your life. So when you
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: get injured and they bring cam and what your what's
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: your thought?
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: You know, I was just like, okay, like see what
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: the deal is like, this is like middle of the season.
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: I'm just trying to get healthy, honestly, honestly, and I
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: was just like all right, like you know, and yeah,
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: he was a great dude, great guy to have in
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: the QB room, great guy to just have a round
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: in general because his.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Energy is unmatched.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: And then yeah, and then I come back and play
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: and he's a great guy, like I said, just a
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: great guy to have a practice, great gout to have
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: in your team.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: I literally have nothing bad to say about Cam.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Is he like is he the way he seems on
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: media always? No, he's not always that high up, high energy.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: No. I mean there's you know, just like anyone else.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: He's like he's just gonna be quiet and like do
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: his work and sit in the QB room watch tape,
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: take notes. He's gonna like be in the training room
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: with his headphones on and the hot tub headphones on,
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: like just chilling with a tower round, isn't it.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: You know, It's like he's a normal dude.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: But you know when he gets out to practice, when
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: he getting ready for games, and there's times, you know,
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: in the locker room and stuff where he gets he
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: gets very charismatic and very high energy.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: And it's awesome. But yeah, he's just he's just a
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: natural born leader.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: Yeah, he's just he got he has that energy and
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: uh yeah, all I mean just the things that I've
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: learned from him in terms of.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: Because he's dealt with a ton.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Of stuff, a lot of a lot of stuff, a
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: lot of ups and downs in his career and the
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: way that he's handled it and the way that he
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: talks about how he's handled it. Uh, just so much respect,
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: and yeah, it's a great dude.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: He was MVP one year and then a couple of
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: years later it's like it's not going the way he
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: wants it to. And he had trouble finding a job
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: for a little bit, so to go through that kind
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: of adversity, and and he just seems like every time
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: he gets on a team or does something, he's the
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: same dude over You got to respect that, Oh yeah,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: gotta respect that. So this year, I know you don't
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: you don't read a lot of stuff, but there's a
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: lot of people are talking about whether the Panther's draft
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: of guy, whether they were in the Deshaun Watson talk
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: for a little bit of trading for the quarterback. Like
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: what is you Obviously like you say you don't look
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: at the social media stuff, which I'm not sure one
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: hundred percent believe yet.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: But I see some stuff. Yeah, then, but I really
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: try not to pay attention to it. Yeah, I don't
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: even know if.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: I try not to. It's just that I don't.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, because it was so it was you know,
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: New York was on another level, So it was like,
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: you know, I kind of figured out how to handle
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: it there, and it was like kind of going back
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: and forth, you know, between my rookie my first year
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: and my third year. It was like I figured out
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: how to best handle it for myself. Yeah, it was
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: just not really paying attention to it. So that's why
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: I've handled it. And I've kind of done the same
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: thing this offseason, where like I'm just trying to learn
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: coach mcadew's soon and that's where I'm at, you know
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Yeah, So, do you get nervous when the draft's coming
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: up or anything like that with possibilities of them drafting
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: a quarterback at six.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Or it's just it's it's literally like there's a.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Lot harder questions than I usually ask on this thing.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: I apologize this is good because no one, to be honest,
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: no one ever asked me these questions because they're you know,
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: whether they're afraid or they don't they don't want to
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: bring it up, you know, just in normal everyday conversation. Yeah,
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: so no, this is truly like the first time I've
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: ever answered questions like this. But dude, it's like, honestly,
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: whatever happens, I'm prepared for it, and you know, at
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: the end of the day, someone's got to answer for it.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: Whether it's you know, whoever it is, so the GM coach, whatever.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: If something happens like that, then it's like, all right,
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: I'm going to see what they have to say and
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: that's about it.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean I hear what you're saying, but
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: it's for me, it'd be like a tough that'd be
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: a tough thing to kind of to feel and knowing
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: when you're when you're quarterback, because you know, like, well.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: It's the Baker thing.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: It's yeah, it's the Baker thing, and it's it's understanding
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: you're like trying to understand your thought process of like
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: how you're not looking at you're not paying attention that
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: you're just focused on what you're trying to do, which
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: is be a great quarterback. The only issue is like
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: if they so that they do draft a guy at six,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: you got you know how the you know how the
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: politics of the NFL work. You know that guy from Liberty,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: whatever his name is, if they, let's say they draft him,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: you got to sit there and know that if you
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: guys play well in camp, you might start the beginning,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: but at some point in time the owner the GM
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: is gonna start telling the hew coach, we got to
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: get our first round pick to play, you know. And
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: so that's gotta that's got to ruffle some feathers on
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: the inside a little bit. It's got to be tough
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: to think that, Like, I'll give you, I'll give you
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: an example.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: So well, shot to the ego.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it is a shot to the ego. In twenty sixteen,
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: we had the number one overall pick and John Robinson
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: was the new GM and everybody that, all the analysts,
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: the experts saying that we need to draft a guy
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: number one overall off it's a tackle and move me
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: to right tackle. And so at that point, well, I
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: won't play right tackle. It's nothing against right tackles. It's
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: just I'm a left tackle and that's what I'm gonna play.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: And if they say have to play right tackle, I'm
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: out of here.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: That's just how I work. And so I meet with
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: John a couple of weeks. It's like the middle of
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: April or something like that. He's asked me, like how
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: I feel about all this whole thing, and I kind
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: of just tell him. I was like, you know, the
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: first overall picks a lot of money to pay for
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: a right tackle because I'm a left tackle. We go
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: through a couple of weeks of OTAs and they end
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: up trading the pickaway, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: like that for me, that's like when I had, like
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: I've said, anything that comes to me, I want to
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: barrel through it. So people know how I fear. I
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: don't leave anything up to I wonder what he was
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: thinking that you know exactly how I'm feeling and stuff
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: like that. So just when the draft is coming, it's
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: got to be a hard feeling or wondering what is
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: the possibility. It's nothing you can't control, truly, but the
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: thought of it coming coming up, it's got to be
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: a difficult thing at times for sure.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it truly is.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: And this is this is kind of where you're not
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: gonna believe what I say, but just bear with me.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: It truly is, like whatever happens happens, because that's at
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: the end of the day, like it's out of my control. Yeah,
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: And I know that, And so I have enough security
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: in myself to where I can be like, I know,
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: I'm a good quarterback.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: No, I can be a good quarterback in this league.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: I've proved it, and I know there's a team if
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: you know, something happens that would want me.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Yeah. So well, I feel like the emotional maturity to
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: handle like that is impressive. Like I think I go
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: about I'm not saying the way I do things is
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: a mature way, because I don't. I think it's like
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: it can be a little reckless sometimes and for you
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: to have the head on your shoulders you do as
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: a quarterback that you would want.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think it's it's all about who
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: you surround yourself with too. That's how I've always thought,
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: Like my parents, my family, my friends that I have
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: back home, Like all my high school buddies are all
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: my best friends. So you know, obviously there's guys in
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: college that I you know, I'm boys with doo, but.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: Like I'm best friend.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: I have like six or seven best friends in high
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: school that were kind of with me before all this
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: shit started happening. So I just kind of roll with them,
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: and you know, if I start getting a big head
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: and they let me know about it, that's impressive.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: So you know, yeah, that's pretty much it having boys
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: like that around you is really special to have. Yeah,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: definitely people that I'll keep in your place for sure.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: The locker room talk segment is the last thing I promise. Okay,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: So the whole point of the locker room segment, it's
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: a new thing. We started last week. We started with
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Fred Taylor, and it's basically like something like, you're sitting
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: with the boys in the locker room a story you
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: whether it's off the field, on the field that you
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: don't usually talk about with the mainstream media. We're definitely
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: not the mainstream media. But with with media types in there,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: we're not trying to be mainstream. We're definitely not trying
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: to be mainstream. Buttoned up is not our forte. Yeah,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: but as far as locker room talk.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: No one's gonna listen to this.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: No, we have millions of viewers, millions or its not
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: on main stream, you know what I'm saying. We're not
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: the ESPN's Okay.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: I feel like, yeah, I don't know if I can even.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Have a weird way to segue like a segment too,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: like just to ask, hey, tell us a cool story, right,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: you know, it's kind of tough.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: No, it's kind of funny is ESPN even I don't know,
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: like is TV mainstream media now?
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Like is that? I mean? But yeah, like podcasts and
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: YouTube are starting to become a little more.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: It's definitely transitioning quite a bit.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Because I know, like I'll sit on YouTube for hours,
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: you know, and not watch a look at TV.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: So maybe I'm just different.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Yeah, ESPN they let off like a hundred laid off
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: like one hundred people a couple of years ago, and
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: it's I mean, it's tough. Shout out all the grinders
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: out there in the mainstream media, though, dude, shout to
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: shout out you guys. But the podcast, like you see
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Pat McAfee's doing. I think he's the most watched dude
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: of all the places, right, guys making I would say
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: close to undred million dollars to hear right now. Yeah,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Rogan's out there too, but he's not I mean, he's
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: not sports. But yeah, he crushed the CNN and NBC.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: We had a Brandon shab on here and they were saying,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: like all those mainstream news media's takes like a week
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: two weeks to just gain one of his episodes, and
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: he's putting out three of those a week. Thirteen million views.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Hawking just talking. He's dude. He's incredible at having conversations
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: with people too. Yeah, incredible. Did you have a four
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: hour conversation? Yeah? I think I could could. Yeah, well,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: it's it's usually the conversation usually goes off of who
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: you're talking to, right, Like, if, for sure, if Joe's
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: on here, he's a he's an excellent speaker. Yeah, things
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: lowing and he loves talking, so I don't think that'd
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: be an issue at all for sure to be on
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: with him. But locker room segment, sorry, locker room talk.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: What kind of story do you got for us that's
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: going to bless the bus?
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: I mean besides all the dudes running around naked in
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: the locker room.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, we can talk about it if you peek at
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: meat too in a second. Okay, big part of our thing.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: Two riffs riffs only.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: No, I'm a locker guys with the kind of Yeah,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: I think I've just moved on to not caring anymore.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: Hey, you gotta you got kids, right?
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I got kids. Okay, I don't know what that
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: has to do with anything. Oh, yes, you know what
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: I mean. Yeah, it's like it's the best cover up
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: I've ever had in my entire life.
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: It's outstanding. Yeah, oh man, Uh locker room story.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: I don't know if it's not like a locker room story,
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: but it's happened.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: Uh after the Rose Bowl game.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: We were in the Rose Bowl and school's on winter
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: break and so so no one's at school, and so
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: we're like, what do we do? Like literally, I'm like,
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: didn't have a planned out, like nothing, just won the
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: Rose Bull. Don't know what the Rose Bull? Like, what
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: do we do? You know, Uh, can't go out? You know,
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: got my d's taken away? If that's not allowed to
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: be on this we can take that out, I'm sure.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: But yeah we won't. But all right, I'm just kidding.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: Got my got my d's taken away? Uh.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: And so I was like nineteen, I think at the time,
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: and so I literally was like, what do we do?
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: So we go back an hour south down to my
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: hometown and I literally all those guys I mentioned, Uh,
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: we just had a time. We had a time at
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: uh at my buddy's house, who had a bunch of
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: people over. He had a sick backyard, jacuzie all that stuff.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: So all this stuff you enjoy when you're nineteen years old.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: So we had a few drinks and I ended up
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: we ended up thinking it was a good idea to
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: DM Snoop Dogg okay because he wasn't you know, he
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: wasn't involved with USC anymore. And I was like, dude,
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: he'd for sure respond. All my buddies were like hyping
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: me up, like, dude, you just want the rose bull,
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: like you should be able to talk to him. And uh,
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: to this day, like seven years however long it is
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: years later, no response.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Snoop said a word. Nothing, He's that is a cut
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: to the core. I really thought that was going to
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: go to like he and he hit us up, went
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: to his house.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: We went to his house.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Yeah nah yeah. Did he read it?
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: So sorry for everyone listening because that was, you know,
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: tough story, but the story with stup Dog is good.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: Did anything of Snoop? Yeah, but uh nothing, dude.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Not didn't read it or anything.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: He was probably like, who are these fucking kids like
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: just recording videos like send them whatever.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: Yeah, just like dumb stuff, but uh, dumb ass crackers.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Yeah that's probably what he said.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: Uh, but yeah, it was just like send him a
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: video and he just never responded, and I was pretty devastated.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's got to be tough when you put yourself
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: out there, especially when you tell the boys, yeah he
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: probably responded, and they're like, oh, you for sure would.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: It wasn't even my idea. It was like one of
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: my boys idea, Yeah, and I.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Was just like a couple hours go by and it's like, oh,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: it's not looking good for saying yeah right.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: That was that was kind of like where where it
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: came from was like we wanted something to go do. Uh,
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: you know, an uber up to l A probably wouldn't
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: be super cheap, but we're gonna do it. If you
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: like was like yeah, like come out with the boys,
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: you know it'd be a good time and just never respond.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Parting with Snoop Dog would be all the time. You
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: would be so high, Yeah, regardless of whether you wanted
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: to or not. Right, Yeah, second hand, just second hand,
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: just a stone out of your mind. You think it'd
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: be harder to smoke with Snoop Dog or Willie Nelson?
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Willie Nelson, you think it'd be harder? Well, elaborate, why.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Do you think I think there was a story that
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: came out of Willian Nelson's smoking. Uh.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: It was like Snoop and Whizz kal Walifa under the bus,
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: no ship, yeah, under the bus.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: There you go. Yeah.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: I think Toby Keith wrote a song about He'll never smoke.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: We with Willie Nelson again. Yeah, he was like that.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: I don't know that's what I heard. I think I
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: heard that.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: Maybe it was maybe it was flipped, but I'm pretty
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: sure it was Willie Nelson.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: And those two Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg. They are like,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: that's those thing guys, that's the weird guys. Yeah, those
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: are the weird guys.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: And Seth Rogan. Yeah, yeah, no doubt. Seth Rogan does
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: get after it, doesn't you. Listen, dude, I had an
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: outstanding time.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: I think you. I hope you had a great time.
