He was interviewing people about the painful experiences of magical trauma, loss, regret, disfigurement. Now he's on a mission to cultivate 10,000 emotional spiritual warriors. Who rise above their inner battles to uplift their family, community, and the world. Please welcome in the founder of Swimming Arrow Therap Hypnotherapy, the one the only Johnny Olson. Johnny, how you doing today, man? Johnny Olson, CHt: I am terrific. It's cool right now. It's gonna heat up really, really soon. So I'm fantastic at this moment. Thank you for asking me. Pete: Hey, setting up great right now. It's little hot in here. So, Johnny, why don't you what do you let me ask you this, man, okay? Like I already told you we're gonna jump into this thing. I wanna jump into the the the years of television, man. Like, Johnny Olson, CHt: Err. Pete: like after 20 years of that, man, what was your mental health like at that point? It it had to be hard though, because think about it. You're on TV interviewing people, so you can't like get all the too emotional because then people, you know, like you know what I mean? Like you have to play a certain quote unquote role. What you know what I'm saying? Johnny Olson, CHt: Well, sure, in a way, yes, you gotta play a kind of a role, you gotta kind of be aloof, but there were times when I was on the other side of the camera asking the questions and I was blubbering like a baby just because of the things that they were sharing with me, the hardships, Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: the trials and tribulations that they've had to live through and they found their other, their way to the other side of. I mean, it's, sometimes when you're hearing stories of of abuse and mockery and disfigurement and just, you know, of a life that was snatched from you. When you're hearing those kinds of stories, it hits you. It really does. Pete: yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: So, and again, that was, I think that when, you know, usually I would use that as a superpower. would help me, you know, build rapport with these beautiful people and it would help them open up even more so to Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: me, which would actually, you know, make the whole exercise that much more easy. for everyone on the other side. So when you nail it hard, when you get everything you need, when you are firing in all cylinders, it just makes it easier for everyone on the other side, on the post side, to cut this beautiful thing together. But it was hard. My mental health at certain times... Luckily, the things that I worked on weren't really of this mindset of like the real housewives of Beverly Hills or any of this or any of that kind of manufacturer, Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: butting heads kind of drama. was luckily for a majority of my career, was simply follow doc, you stop, ask questions, follow up on what we just saw and then just kind of, you know, stay a little separate. So you never really had to You never really had to, you know, plant little seeds, little demon seeds in the ears of, know, you know, was talking to you, you know, you should really, you know, you should really, you know, let her have it or something like that. Luckily it Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: wasn't like that. But at the same time, when you are asking people to relive their most horrific experiences or asking them to go into great detail about, you know, abuses. that they've survived. It does take a toll on you. It really, really does. Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: So right around when COVID hit in 2020, I was actively looking for some way, something to get me kind of, I was looking for my escape hatch. was looking to Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: pull that rip forward and find something that would not only allow me to sleep better, but would also be of use to my community as well as society on a whole. Because again, we all need entertainment, but Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: it's not what the world needs the most. So that's Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: kind why I am able to beautifully, ideally kind of transition out of entertainment. and find my way into hypnotherapy. Pete: Yeah, yeah. So to mention, by the way, the the real housewives aspect, I had a TV show ty psychologist come on here and he was explaining the archetypes and how they actually build those shows for those kind of things. For you know, everybody listening home has not heard that episode yet. but Johnny was doing the opposite. He was the talking to the real people, you know, the people actually dealt with these things. And you know, I could only imagine it was rough, but you know, let's get into the why why did you get into psych the hypnotherapy? Was it something you you stumbled upon while you were searching, 'cause I know you said you were looking for something to get out. Johnny Olson, CHt: . Pete: And I know you, you know, with all that stuff it's really hard, you know, and things like that too. So how did how did you come across hypnotherapy though? Johnny Olson, CHt: I... Cue the ace of base. I saw a sign. No, Pete: I love it. Johnny Olson, CHt: no, okay. So here in Southern California, in San Fernando Valley, if you're driving on the 101, now again, we're gonna go cliche and go the Californians talking about the 101 to the 405. So I was coming back from set, you Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: know, one evening it was... geez. was, again, it was probably 11, 1130. I was coming back from said it was a nice, another nice long 12 hour day, which again, I love them. They're the best. But I was really just, was, you know, these ideas of, know, what can I do to get out of this? You know, it's, Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: it's great. It's fun. It's lucrative. It's not speaking to me in the way that it wants. I, you know, I, feels very manipulative. just, I'm looking for some way to get out. And as I was traveling Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: back on the 101, I literally saw a sign that I might have, I passed hundreds, if not, know, borderline thousands of times up until that point. And it was a sign for HMI School of Hypnotherapy, next right. So it's just a sign that was just right off the freeway. And it's one of those funny things, it's with the reticular activating system, you don't see things. You know, it filters everything out until you're meant to see it. I Pete: Exactly. Johnny Olson, CHt: felt so I was meant to see that sign seemingly for the first time at that time. So I, I get home. I, you know, I go right to the computer. I look it up. I see what it's all about. I am. and as I'm looking at, as I'm seeing, and as I'm watching some videos, know, introductory videos, things like that kind of breaking into the idea of chemotherapy. I'm falling in love with it because this is right up my, this is right in my wheelhouse because on my own, I've been, you know, I've been always fascinated with the power of the human mind, the power of the placebo, Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: the, you know, just, you know, how we are connected, just the dream space has always fascinated me. It just, so all these things with the power of the mind and then how hypnosis is kind of the best of all worlds. And again, I just, You you mentioned psychology. That's not what this is. And I feel as though therapy Pete: yeah, definitely. Johnny Olson, CHt: is better because with psychology and talk therapy, you're staying in the conscious part of the mind. You're not Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: going into the subconscious, which is the heart, the hard wiring, the root of the individual that we are. I mean, that's something that we develop from a very, very young age, which is exactly why, you know, the things that we experienced from a young age, we kind of carry with us into our adulthood because that is when we're hardwiring ourselves for the future. So the fact that hypnosis and hypnotherapy gets into the hardwiring and it allows us to turn positives into negatives, turn negatives into positives, turn the unknowns into knowns, which makes them no longer things that we fear, which allows us to embrace them, embrace the things that we've been kind of shying away from. And so when I was discovering this stuff, you know, and just... know, reading and writing and watching these preliminary videos and these introductory videos, these prerequisite videos that you need to do before you even get into the school, before you're accepted. I just was falling deeper and deeper into this beautiful idea of hypnosis. Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: I, you know, know, did a lot of soul searching, you know, talked to my wife and, we decided that it was best for us. It was... It was, was, it was a decent enough time to make that transition. And, and so, you know, was doing some, you know, still working, going to school at night, coming to the therapist and then, became a, was able to start seeing clients after six months, which was fantastic. And then just from there, the, the love even deepened even more so, because when you can see people work through and get past, traumas that they've been carrying with them. Sometimes for, you know, not half a century, just watching them physically work through them and then accept the suggestions that are based on their own metaphor that they can become the person that they're meant to be. Pete: accept these suggestions that are based on their own medical that they can become the person that they're meant to be. It's Johnny Olson, CHt: It's. It's a gift to be with them through that process, so it's so this transition from entertainment to to hypnotherapy. Pete: So it's so this transition from entertainment to to hypnotherapy has has been an incredible and and I feel as though even though I you know even though I was working on T V and you're working on detail here and so you're you're creating you're creating journeys that can be that can trans that can transform people. you know. Johnny Olson, CHt: has been incredible. And I feel as though, even though I was working in TV and working on a few films here and there, you're creating journeys that can transform people en masse. But what I'm doing right now, I'm creating individual journeys that are the... Pete: on a mass but what I'm doing right now is I'm creating individual things that where the where the client is the one in the shoes that they've never been able to walk into for and accepting it and accepting themselves and becoming person that they have always known they can be they just know how they can go about doing it. So that's it has been that analyst for them to create the person they already Johnny Olson, CHt: where the client is walking in the shoes that they've never been able to walk into before and accepting it and accepting themselves and becoming the person that they've always known they can be. They just didn't really know how they could go about doing it. So hypnotherapy has been that catalyst for them to create the person that they always knew they could be. Pete: get. Yeah. Yeah. Hypnotherapy is very interesting. we've had several conversations this show with different hypnotherapists. In fact, one woman, she she didn't even know she was sexually assaulted until she went to hypnotherapy and then found out that in deep seated inside that her brain had cut off the memory, but she her body remembered it. So that's what the fascination though is. But you're right though. Once you get in that subconscious, man, it's it's endless what you can do in there. You can help people. Johnny Olson, CHt: So, Pete: Realize things, help them get them through things, you know, stuff they'd never imagined they could ever do, you know? And and hypnotherapy seems to be coming up a lot more now versus traditional therapy. Like, don't get me wrong, traditional therapy has its place, but hypnotherapy, man, you're going deep in the mind. And you know, individuals like yourself that are getting in there, the things you see is just endless, you know. It's really fascinating, you know, how Johnny Olson, CHt: thank Okay. Pete: much really you can do for somebody when you get deep inside, because once you hit that forefront. you're only getting to so much. But once you get down into the thing, man, you're really just digging in. And, you know, you're helping them and you're having them do the work too. And then a lot of times the therapy, that's the biggest problem is that they'll they'll get all excited. yeah, I'm going to do this thing. And then they leave and then don't do anything about it. You know what I'm saying? Hypnotherapy is a little bit different approach to that. Johnny Olson, CHt: Well, it is because the interesting thing about the brain is that there are three parts. you know, of course you've got the conscious. So the way that I describe it is that, you know, people always say that they're, you know, they've always heard that we only use about 10 % of our brain, which is correct. That's our conscious mind. That is the mind that has thousands upon thousands upon thousands of different thoughts that go on every single day. But that is only a fraction of what the mind actually does. So you've got the 10%, which is conscious mind, which, you know, it's just all these different. all these different thoughts, a lot of them on repeat, know, a lot of them are negative, which is something that we address with hypnotherapy. But again, that's only a small fraction of the whole thing. You've got 90 % that is the subconscious that runs the show, not only runs all the things that were implanted when you were at a young age, but it also runs the entire body, which again, which is which I've loved, you know, being able to work with some clients that have been dealing with chronic pain and or, Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: or, know, I've helped some clients with hypnobirthing, is, which is fascinating stuff. You know, pre and post-operative, you know, making sure that their body is healing and not allowing blood to go in certain places. And, and even when they're, know, even during operation, you know, giving them the suggestion that, you know, blood will, will naturally stay away from this area so that it is a little bit easier for the operator to, see what their what they're trying to do. And then, you know, once they're all stitched up, you know, you bring, you give suggestion of, you know, bring all of the healthy people to that area to heal it as quickly as possible. It's just, it's fascinating stuff. But, you know, you're absolutely right when you said that, you know, we, you get out of regular talk therapy and you have all this, all this dim and vigor about doing something, but you're not able Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: to do something about it. And that is because that's that leads to the third part. of the brain, is the critical mind. There is a barrier between conscious and subconscious mind, which is necessary to be there because we have thousands of different thoughts that happen every single day. If we didn't have that barrier, we would be implanting every single whim into our subconscious and basically overriding ourselves, creating a new individual every single hour of every single day, around every 90 minutes. You would be rewriting yourself as a person. Be like, it would be almost as though you were Guy Pierce from the movie Memento, you'd have no surety in memory. You would be just this new thing every hour of every day. Because we have that critical mind, we have that barrier. That is a necessary thing, which is also part of the problem because up here in the conscious, that's where our logic and reasoning and will power and things like that live. But because we have that barrier, the things that we know we should be doing for ourselves don't ever get done because we're not able to implant that or plant that into the... Pete: done because we're not able to implant that or plant that into the supply, which is you know, where I have no therapist comes Johnny Olson, CHt: which is where a hypnotherapist comes, we're able to create a divide, we're able to create a hole in that critical mind, in that barrier, so that we can take those logical ideas that we want to implant in our subconscious, we can plant them nice and deep and we can see the fruits Pete: in that in that in that line, in that in that barrier. So that we can take those logical ideas that we want to implant the other consciousness. We can plant them as indeed and we can see that Johnny Olson, CHt: of them very, very quickly. mean, that's the glorious thing about hypnosis is this is not a long-term therapy. Pete: I mean, that's the the glorious thing about hypnosis is this is not a long term Johnny Olson, CHt: You it's a Pete: therapy. Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: business model. sucks for me because, know, every month and a half, I've, you Friday, you know, we, got to make sure that we have the calendar filled. because I don't, if you're coming to see a therapist and if they're worth their salt, you should not be with them for years upon years on end. Like you, someone you sometimes hear with, you know, people talking to their psychiatrists where, you know, I, you know, they're going once a week for decades sometimes, which Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: You're just you're not getting the heart. You're not being the root. They're not getting any kind of mental change. You're just you know, you're just re aggravating that that injury is picking that stab off every single week. Whereas with hypnosis, we're able to supplant that that critical mind take those things that we want, put them into the subconscious, which is the heart of our heart. And we're able to create lasting change in a very short amount of time. I the things that I've seen happen once are revoluted. Pete: that that I've seen after once are Johnny Olson, CHt: For instance, there was one client who was just deathly afraid Pete: So the one line I cannot prove you know with just definitely Johnny Olson, CHt: of a flood. And unfortunately, she had to do a lot for work. she would just be going through these panic attacks. She would go online ahead Pete: kind of pass. You would go online. Johnny Olson, CHt: of time. And because apparently there's a there's a way you can track turbulence throughout Pete: Apparently there's there's a way that you can track turbulence. Johnny Olson, CHt: the country. So she would go online, track the turbulence and then just white knuckle it until they got to the time when she would be approaching that turbulent and then it would get bad. Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: So she was doing this and then she's got to travel every other week for work. So what we were able to do is. We were able to walk her through a scenario where she was feeling calm the entire time, giving her breathing techniques as well. Returning to the breath is key for lot Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: of But giving her breathing techniques, giving her an imagery journey where she was, through going through all this stuff, whilst remaining calm. And after just that first section, she was 90 % better. And then of course we had a couple of follow ups just to make sure that she was fine. But I keep getting notes from her just night and day, where she's telling me that day from where she started to where she is now and how she no longer, and how her resting heart rate, her overall health and vitality has gotten better because when she's flying, her blood pressure would be just through the roof. So now her overall outlook has just improved vastly, improved vastly just through that first session. Then of course, a couple follow-ups. And she's been, but, and again, that's the way it should be Pete: Yeah, that's the way it should be. Johnny Olson, CHt: with hypnotherapy. It should be, you you get in, you get the work done, you attack it hard, and then you give them the means to, to cope with these situations when they find themselves triggered by these things. And, and you just, you let them go on their way so that they can live a happy, healthy, life without, you know, using a, type of Pete: You know, you get in, you get the work done, you you you you attack it hard, then you give them the means to to cope with these situations when they find themselves triggered by these things. And then you just you let them go on their way so they can move a happy, healthy, meaningful life without saying a this type of therapist has a crutch. So that's the the biggest difference that I've found. Johnny Olson, CHt: therapist as a crutch. that's the biggest difference that I've found with traditional therapy. And that's why I feel Pete: Okay, that's why. Johnny Olson, CHt: it's, again, I'm biased by thinking that it's far superior than just simple talk therapy because we get deeper. Pete: Yeah, I'm fine, it's five more superior than just simple contact. Well yeah, because you've been there, you've been doing the work, you see what it does and how effective and how fast it is. I almost think it's therapy is you're just paying somebody to be your friend to listen to what you have to say, basically. You know what I'm saying? Like that's Johnny Olson, CHt: Yeah. Pete: what it felt like when I was doing therapy. It was like they were just listening me talk about things and they're like, Okay, you know, and we'd have a com it's like you're paying your friend to come talk to you. I'm like, I can tell my friends a lot of things, but they're They they have their place just because for like some of those really like deeper thoughts that the people can't handle. I could see that that fit in there for them, you know, if that's what you want. You want to talk to somebody, okay. Well, you can pay to talk this person, they'll listen to you. They have a little more thoughts about what how your brain's wired, but you guys are Johnny Olson, CHt: . Pete: in there fixing it. You're like, You want to fix or do you want a friend? You know, it's basically what you're gonna start asking people. It's like because you're paying this person to listen to you. You guys are going in and like, all right, well, we're this is our plan. This is how fast we're playing and get this done. We're not here. This isn't a marriage. This is a wham bam, you're on your way kind of thing, you know? And then we'll follow up with you to make sure that everything sticks where it should be and help you on your way, which is, you know, I I love, Johnny Olson, CHt: Thank you. Pete: I think it's a great idea. Like I I don't therapy was great when it was there. Now that I've discovered all these different modalities and things, it's like I don't need it anymore. Breath work is helps me really great when I if I get my anxiety starts getting up or I start getting kind of going. Johnny Olson, CHt: So, thank you. Pete: You know, helps me calm me down, you know, things like that too. I use ro I do I use different things, like a journal and these other things. I have the show I I do on here and with everybody else, you know, stuff like that. It's just great to me. It's like therapy worked where it had its place and now it's now it's getting kind of left in the in left behind because a lot of these guys are leaving therapy to go do these different areas. Johnny Olson, CHt: So, I'm to So, Pete: Like they're going to s hypnotherapy with you guys and then everything else, and then they start just Branching off. And as you're seeing, you know, a lot of them are leaving that field and moving to more other things to do because they're realizing that these things are more effective. You know, they're somatic and all these other stuff that just keeps popping up. That's really cool. So Johnny Olson, CHt: thank So. Pete: take you. So let's ask I want to ask you about swimming aerotherapy. Okay. So when you what was that moment you decided you wanted to literally just work for yourself? Was it you just got in, you're like, okay, I like this. Now I kind of want to do my own thing and branch off because I know. that you're on a mission, you know, emotional and spiritual. Now, spiritual a lot of times gets tossed to the side because, you know, the way the way f the, you know, spiritual stuff is presented to people sometimes comes a little too like like they push it on you kind of thing. To me, I think spiritual is fantastic. It's really great. You opens up a lot of other things too. Johnny Olson, CHt: You're right. mean, again, I loved the time I had when I was working in television. was amazing because just the camaraderie Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: teamwork that you would find because you've got a crew full of people that are all working for a common goal. It's very team mentality. Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: And then of course, being blessed enough to actually be the leader on onset of that entire team is incredible. And then, you know, once you take the things that you wrote, the things that you shot, the things that you envisioned, the things that you asked, and you're seeing them actually make their way to television or online or whatever, or even Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: to the big screen and seeing that stuff, that is an amazing high that I feel as though that has been, you know, surpassed by this. And I knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life almost after my first session with a client. because of just, you know, so you get a man, know, so with the first session, it's usually a little longer. It's a 90 minute thing. And the reason why we have it a Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: little longer is because, you know, we're not really sure how long it will take to get the client under for the first time. Even though everyone goes in and out of hypnosis several times a day, which is one of the things Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: that we talk about in the first session is, some people they come and say, I can't be hypnotized. And I say, well, I make a difference because we each and every one us go in and out of hypnosis several times a day when we are coming out of sleep and going back in to sleep. We're passing through the theta brain wave. Which is where we want to be, which is where we want to have our mind whilst we're in the hypnotic state where we're very, very, very, very relaxed. Our mind is still hyper focused. So we all do that. if we're driving and we don't remember how we got from our parking spot, from a driveway to our parking spot, that is that kind of daydreamy kind of feeling that is homeophthethinosis as well. But when I discovered that just going to films, film is also another means of hypnosis that really hit me hard because again, I got into entertainment because of my love of film and Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: certain films that I watched growing up that were very instrumental in shaping me as an individual. And to learn that, that, know, had a hand to play in that. was revelatory and I loved starting that and I still love film. I've got children now so every film I watch I turn into a main series because I can only handle, can only afford like 15 minutes at a time. again, I still love it. yeah, after that where I had the conversation with someone, we get them in, we do the thing. We give them the suggestions based on their own metaphors. again, listening a lot, making sure that we're writing things down so that we can give the client their words back to them so that the subconscious doesn't reject the suggestion or the likelihood that they will. It's after that first conversation, after that first session with how they felt, Pete: Without his mouth. Johnny Olson, CHt: because everyone feels different when they're in state. Pete: feels different when it's been when it's like the case. And when the AP felt as though they were floating and and they felt as if they were up amongst the public and that the suggestions were a my a higher power. That was something that they were doing with so the fact that they were able to give themselves entirely to the process and to to allow that to that foot. Johnny Olson, CHt: And when they felt as though they were floating and they felt as though they were amongst the clouds and that the suggestions were from a higher power, that was something that they were dealing with. So the fact that they were able to give themselves entirely to the process and to allow that to set foot or take root that quickly for them. I was hooked. I truly was. Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: And so, know, the transition from, you know, so, know, I started in fewer gigs, I started, started taking more clients and was to Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: transition from one to the other. We get to the point where we are today. And there's no looking back. no going back. There's just, and again, because, you know, you set a goal for yourself. And this is really important, especially with my clients. It's all about setting a goal, making sure you stay to it, even though you might not live up to your own standards. You're still moving in that direction. The goal of affecting 10,000 people during this entire process for the rest of this lifetime that I have, it's a beautiful, worthy goal. Because to be just that one individual, get past that that has been kind of haunting them for years upon years and have them balloon into the person that they were meant to be. Pete: That they were meant to be. Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: It's not affecting that one person. That's affecting everyone around them, which then affects Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: everyone around them. if again, it's not quite the butterfly effect, but it's the ripple. It's the ripple across the lake that that is. incredible for me. then of course, you know, with, with hypnosis, hypnotherapy, becoming more, I don't like the term invoked, because, you know, whenever I think of invoked, I think of a fantastic group that helped me through my teenage years. But, but that's not as you're. But no, it's, it's becoming more, becoming more embraced, I guess. And it's not as it's not as stigmatized as it once was. And people are And the great thing about hypnosis is everyone knows something about it and they all have questions about it. So to, you know, it's always a gift when I have a few minutes, you know, just, you know, meeting someone at Target or meeting someone at the store or, or just like this last weekend when I was hanging out with my, my wife's childhood friends, you know, talking to their husbands about this and how powerful it is and, you know, how it's been around and, you know, different athletes that have been utilizing Pete: you know, different athletes that have been utilizing Gnosis to make themselves the greatest in their field like Tiger Lord. Johnny Olson, CHt: hypnosis to make themselves the greatest in their field like Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan. Or Mike Tyson, mean good board. His trainer custom model was a hypnosis. Pete: Model. Johnny Olson, CHt: It was a hypnotist himself, so you know everything that Mike was able to do at such young age is part and parcel to at his disposal, telling me it's the greatest that he's indestructible, telling him Pete: So, you know, everything that Mike was able to do at this given age is part and parcel to at his disposal telling the secret stuff that he's in the structure. Johnny Olson, CHt: that he's faster than anyone else in the ring. So you know you. Pete: So, you know, you you give them stories like that, people you know, people goes away or and and then when you tell them that it's it's perfectly natural, we do it every single day, and you give them examples of, you know, that they can relate to, it just opens the door and it which is which is perfect because like I said, this is such a powerful modality, such a powerful tool that Johnny Olson, CHt: you give them stories like that, people, know, the stigma goes away or, know, and then when you tell them that it's, it's perfectly natural, we do it every single day and you give them examples of, you know, that they can relate to, it just opens the door and it, which is, which is perfect because like I said, this is such a powerful modality, a helpful tool that, that I am so blessed to be able to wield. But not only that, I, Pete: that I am so blessed to be able to wield. But not only that, I I share self hypnosis with each and every one of my clients before I know before our time the other that they can hold on and they can do it themselves. And I close share, you know, I I've got a PDF, you know, this is a time to break down, you know, we want to go through it. I shall share this with everyone you know. Exactly, yes. Johnny Olson, CHt: I share self-hypnosis with each and every one of my clients before our time together is done so that they can hold on and they can do it themselves. And I implore with them, share, know, I've got a PDF, you know, this is kind of a breakdown, you know, we walk through go through it, I tell them, share this with everyone you know, walk them through it, because this is such a powerful thing to know more about our mind work and to be able to utilize it to a level and to be able to fine tune it towards a goal that they never been able to do before. It's just something that everyone needs to have in their utility belt. It's Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: why it's, I keep rambling, but it's just something we're talking about because this is Pete: you're not rambling. You're just making you're making all statements that are true, though. I mean, you're trying to help other people, and then you're telling them to go out and tell the people like listen, you got to tell them about this experience because it gives it that credibility for people that know a little bit about hypnosis or like, I've always kind of thought about it. Or they're tearing on the fence. You never know one friend come. Hey, listen, man, I had a great experience. I did this, this is what I was doing. I went and did some hypnotherapy. You know, it's it's always believable because it's the word of mouth though from coming from someone else. Like you could sit here all day and tell people about, but that other person reassuring it too, though, is what really brings a lot of people in because we're like, okay, somebody's actually done it. Because you know, that's usually what it is. A lot of people have that mob mentality thing. They're like, Well, I don't know about this. And then somebody comes out and says, Hey, listen, I was there. This is what it was like. He was really good. You laid everything out, you know, and they were laying it all out for you, doing all the work for you. And then they come and see you. hey, so and so told me about it. It's a great feeling because now you know they're out there sharing with everybody about everything you're doing and how how it helped them so much. And then little by little, you know, you're moving towards that 10,000, you know, that you've already set for yourself and then exceeding it beyond that point too. Because, you know, we all have access to the internet, you know, it's a great thing, but a lot of times we don't use it, you know? and especially with social media though, with a lot of the misinformation that goes on about things, you know. I know with a lot of people when they start sharing certain things, people are just like, that's ridiculous, or whatever. You know, everybody has some reason they want to say something. And it's like everybody has to have a word for something when they post anything online. So, you know, it it's always interesting when you hear people that come in here and they say, Well, I've been posting my s my story online, and people are being negative. Yeah, but you can't worry about what everybody there's gonna be negative people regardless of where you go, you know. Positivity seems to have left the building for people for some reason. It's like just because they're miserable doesn't mean you have to be miserable too, though. But I love it though. I I can tell that you're passionate about it, Johnny. You can see it, man. The way you're talking about the body language, the energy you're giving off, things like that too, man. It it's really cool, man. That's that's your mission, though, because you're not only just talking about individuals, you're talking about family, communities, and then the world. Johnny Olson, CHt: Mm hmm. Mm-hmm. Pete: And you're you're doing it the right way. You're sending them out there, spreading the seed, letting them letting other people talk for that it speak for itself. Hey, listen, I did this. You know, and little by little it's just gonna keep going because, like I said, hypnotherapy has come up a lot more than traditional therapy. All these guys are leaving therapy to go to these other modalities, like what you guys are doing, but it's because it's effective. The things you can do once you get in the subconscious to help people is just amazing. I met a woman though that was on the show, she she was actually helping people reprogram their brain a little bit to the sense of like what they wanted to achieve, basically, you know, and she was using the subconscious and she was explaining the whole process about how. You have to be very careful in there, she was, you know, things like that and and everything else. But it was always it's just fascinating that now that we're people more people are discovering, you know, what it can do, the things that you guys are doing and the endless amounts and and the way things are shifting, you know, you who knows what it's gonna be like in the future, but it's it's gonna be exciting to see though. Johnny Olson, CHt: Yes, it certainly will. mean, yeah. People are fascinated with the human mind as they should be. of course with everything that's going on with now with technology just exploding and I mean, Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: my God, mean, Neuralink is interesting and would be, I look forward to seeing where we're at in 10 years to see how hypnosis, hypnotherapy can work with these types of technologies. And then of course with virtual reality, Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: things like that. Even though, you know, I've had conversations with developers about virtual reality, maybe working together. And I don't really know if that would work as well as what the human mind is willing, is able to do at this point. I mean, the theater of the mind is so incredibly powerful. it can, and what you don't really want to do is, you know, especially with hypnosis, you want to give, the client, want to give the individual kind of room to create on their own. It's not as though I'm giving you a journey that you will follow to the T. And this is where my work as a working in television, things like that, has been just invaluable. individual bespoke individual, imagery journeys for each client, but at the same time, leaving things open for interpretation so that they can fill in the blanks, which is a means of allowing them to go even deeper into the state itself. Because the more that you engage each and every sense, Pete: same time leaving things open for interpretation so that they can fill in the blanks, which is a means of allowing them to go even deeper into the state itself because the more that you engage each and every sentence Johnny Olson, CHt: the deeper they can go into the hypnotic state and more it is immersive. The more that your subconscious is. Pete: the deeper they can go into an hypnotic state, and more it is immersive the more that your subconscious Johnny Olson, CHt: going to accept the suggestions and the lessons that it is being presented with. you know, I, know, with the reality, we have there, I think there could be, there could be a fantastic one. I just, I just don't, I don't see it yet. I could just be, you know, a little closed Pete: is going to accept the suggestions and the lessons that it is being presented with. So, you know, I you know with before yeah there I there could be. There could be if that passable, I just I just don't I don't see it yet. I'm just being held Johnny Olson, CHt: off on that right now. But with everything else, just people are just, there's there's a, there's a want for understanding of the self. There's a want for understanding of the human mind and how we are all interconnected and what we may have forgotten from our youth or from a bygone era, how we can maybe rediscover that and things like that. mean, the past life regressions with clients have Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: been incredible. Just to have them immerse themselves in those times. and to bring back the lessons that they needed from, bring back lessons from then that helped them today. Or confront death from previous self and to feel more invigorated in things like that. What is possible with regard to what the conscious can achieve, Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: I don't think there is a limit to it. I think it is limitless. And I think that the more that we get into hypnosis, the more that it's destigmatized, the more that people learn about it, and the more that we may be able to do clinical studies about certain things under scientific guidelines, it's what we're going to be able to achieve and rediscover. is going to be incredible. And I'm just so very excited about where this is going to go over the next five and 15, 20 years. Pete: Yeah, definitely. Johnny Olson, CHt: And just with health and longevity and things like that, it's incredible. I'm excited to be part of Pete: It is. I'm excited Johnny Olson, CHt: it. Pete: to be part of it. No, right. I agree, man. I'm excited to see where it goes. So, Johnny, though, we're at that part of the interview where I'm gonna ask you two questions. Now, these two questions I have are one of them's a little bit of a fun one, the other one's just the whole purpose of the show. So the first one to you, I actually stole from somebody. It's if your mental health had a song, what would you say that song would be? This is always a fun answer to this question too. So far, the top answer was Rama got ran over by a reindeer by the gentleman that was six years old. He was used to work for the military as a machine gunist. And he said that I damn near fell on the floor laughing. I'm like, dude, that is the greatest answer of all time, right there. Johnny Olson, CHt: If my, so the question again is if my mental health had a song, what would the song be? Pete: Yeah. Johnny Olson, CHt: I automatically went to Monty Python. Pete: yeah, here we go. I love it. Johnny Olson, CHt: Always look on the bright side of life. Pete: Okay. All right. Johnny just took number two on that list. I'm telling you, that that's great, man. That's awesome. Johnny Olson, CHt: It's, there's just something, again, there's just something great about that. it's just a simple, brilliant, comedic, philosophical statement. Always look on the bright side of life. Pete: Right. Johnny Olson, CHt: We all come from nothing. We all go back to nothing. What have we lost? Nothing. Done. It's. Pete: I love it. That's great. All right, Johnny. So here's the final question. And the reason I start this podcast is if you could break the stigma about mental health. Now, what I'm asking you is something you want people to just stop believing that you hear them say, what would you say that one thing would be? Johnny Olson, CHt: Okay, so it would be stop believing the negative things they say about themselves. this is, and again, this has nothing to with, you know, any other, you know, like a psychiatry moda, you know, anything like it. It's just stop believing the I ams that are negative. Reframing Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: that stuff almost as immediately as you say it or think it. You need to reframe that because of that, you know, what you're saying about yourself that is negative, that should not be there. And that is the big thing. And that's the lot of things that I deal with with my clients is showing them how to catch that stuff, making sure that they're aware of it, making sure that they're not going into hypnotic state and then believing that I am useless, I'm worthless, I cannot handle Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: that thing. I'm not good at this, I'm not a public speaker, whatever it is. Don't allow yourself to believe the negatives that you say. The I am should always be positive. In fact, goes, you know, that kind of goes into, so that goes into one of the things I've been working a lot with my clients is, you know, I mentioned the reticulate activating system earlier on. Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: It's, you know, it's that siphoning, it's that filtering system within your brain. So it sees only the things that you are asking it to see, or it allows you to focus in on certain things. What I've been having my clients do recently is I've been having them ask presumptive questions where they've already achieved their goals. For Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: instance, why is it so easy for me to stay in a positive frame of mind? And that's it. And then the brain will go forth and give you examples as to why it's so easy for you to stay in a positive frame of mind. But it all comes back to never buy into the negatives that you say about themselves, the I ams that are negative. catch those. have, you the idea is to catch those as soon as possible and then to reframe them immediately into something positive or to or to just acknowledge that that thought came in and then to allow it to drift off like a like a cloud like a friend they no longer want to hang out with. So that's that would probably be it. Just don't buy into the negatives. Pete: I love it. I love it, Johnny. All right. Well, with that being said, Johnny, we're gonna wrap up this episode with Pete Ferzani. I just wanted to thank you so much for coming, man. It was so great talking to you. We I just loved everything you were saying, man. I'm like, I could just sit here and let you talk for hours and be like, yeah, whatever you say, man. I don't care what it is, John. Just keep explaining things to me. But man, you were great, man. I loved it. It was great. So where can everybody find you? Where websites, social media, anything you want to plug them that they can come find you at, man. Johnny Olson, CHt: Well, the practice is called swimming arrow hypnotherapy. It's a mouthful, of course, but it is a beautiful metaphor. I don't know if there's any archers out there, but when you lose the arrow, it doesn't come off the bow clean. It doesn't go straight. There is what they call a trout tailing. Pete: Mm-hmm. Johnny Olson, CHt: it almost looks as though it is swimming through the air, and it's one of most gorgeous things I've ever seen. It is a beautiful metaphor. for one's mental health and to achieve one's goals. It's not a straight shot, but it is a beautiful journey. So swimming arrow hypnotherapy, you can find that, swimmingarrowhypnotherapy.com, swimming arrow hypnotherapy on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. All that stuff, Pete: Awesome. Johnny Olson, CHt: swimming arrow hypnotherapy. Because I feel like the next time we see each other, you're gonna be like, Well, I'm already past that 10,000. I decided to go for 50 this time or something like that. You know, sky's the limits, man. And with that being said, guys, we're going to wrap up this episode of Pete for Anxiety. Guys, don't find me on Pete First Anxiety on X all the way down to TikTok.
