- Luna: Hey Lucas, I'm back! Ready for more Spanish? Lucas: Always, Luna! Thanks for joining us on Fexingo. Episode 25 — can you believe it? Luna: I know, we're a quarter of the way to 100! What are we learning today? Lucas: Today, let's get some fruit! We'll learn three fruit names and how to ask for one. Luna: Ooh, I love fruit. Okay, hit me. Lucas: First up: apple. In Spanish, apple is 'manzana'. Say it with me: manzana. Luna: Manzana. That's pretty! Manzana. Lucas: Perfect! Next: banana. That's 'plátano'. Plátano. Luna: Plátano. Plátano. Sounds like the fruit is dancing. Lucas: It does! And finally: orange — 'naranja'. Naranja. Luna: Naranja. Naranja. I love that word. Naranja. Lucas: Great job! Now let's use them. To say 'I want an apple, please', you say 'Quiero una manzana, por favor.' Let's break it down: Quiero — I want. Una — a. Manzana — apple. Por favor — please. Luna: Quiero una manzana, por favor. Quiero una manzana, por favor. Lucas: Excellent! And if you want a banana: 'Quiero un plátano, por favor.' Notice 'un' because plátano is masculine. Luna: Right, un plátano. Quiero un plátano, por favor. Lucas: And an orange: 'Quiero una naranja, por favor.' Una naranja. Luna: Quiero una naranja, por favor. Una naranja. Lucas: Now, to ask the price, you can say '¿Cuánto cuesta?' — how much does it cost? We learned that in the coffee episode. Luna: Oh yeah! ¿Cuánto cuesta? So I can say 'Quiero una manzana, por favor. ¿Cuánto cuesta?' Lucas: Exactly! Let's practice a little dialogue. Imagine you're at a market. I'll be the vendor. You come up and say... Luna: Hola. Quiero una manzana, por favor. Lucas: Claro. ¿Algo más? Luna: Sí, un plátano también. ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: Dos euros todo. That's two euros total. Lucas: De nada. See how natural that felt? You used 'Quiero... por favor' and '¿Cuánto cuesta?' Luna: Yeah! And I remembered 'también' from earlier. That means 'also', right? Lucas: Right! You're picking up so much. Let's review the fruits one more time. Manzana, plátano, naranja. Luna: Manzana, plátano, naranja. Lucas: And the phrase: Quiero una manzana, por favor. Luna: Quiero una manzana, por favor. Lucas: And question: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: You've got this! Now, a little challenge: Can you say 'I want an orange, please. How much is it?' in Spanish? Luna: Umm... Quiero una naranja, por favor. ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: Yes! That's perfect. You're a natural. Luna: Aww, thanks. I love learning with you. And hey, maybe next time we can learn vegetables? Lucas: That's a great idea! But for now, practice these words: manzana, plátano, naranja. And the phrases: Quiero una... por favor, and ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: Will do. Thanks for another fun episode, Lucas! Lucas: Thank you, Luna. And thank you, listeners, for being part of the Fexingo community. Keep practicing, and see you next time! Luna: ¡Hasta luego!
