- 0:40Ordinary Women Extraordinary Faith When God calls, we say yes.
- 0:49Hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.
- 0:53I'm your host, Tamara K.
- 0:55Anderson.
- 0:55Today I'm so excited to be with you as we talk all about how to do teach spiritual warfare to our family.
- 1:02You don't have to be a teacher to know how to do this.
- 1:06Just do your best and ask God to be with you and help you as you do so.
- 1:10To help you confidently pass down these spiritual truths to the next generation, we're breaking down today's episode into three critical teaching modules.
- 1:19First, the tinfoil Dart shield, how to turn the Armor of God into an interactive kinesthetic game that even young toddlers can physically see and feel.
- 1:29Second, the Teenage Brain Battle, how to teach adolescents to audit their inner dialogue and reject the enemy's post mistake shame loops.
- 1:39And third, the Unyielding alliance, three non negotiable spiritual realities Every child should memorize.
- 1:47All right, let's kick it off by looking at our mandate that comes from the lord in Proverbs 22:6 where it says train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not
- 2:00depart from it.
- 2:01Training means giving them practical muscle memory before they ever step out onto the front lines.
- 2:07Let's look at how we introduce this to our littlest warriors.
- 2:11When my kids were little, I knew I couldn't just read intense theological sermons on how to cast out the devil.
- 2:18Their brains just simply weren't wired for it.
- 2:21They needed something they could touch, color or play with.
- 2:24So.
- 2:25So I drew a simple play doll and we had our Armor of Light lesson.
- 2:30You can find examples of something like this all over online.
- 2:33Then you have little pieces of armor and you put it on them like the helmet of salvation.
- 2:38And this keeps your thoughts and your mind safe and reminds you that you're a child of God.
- 2:44Or perhaps if you have a breastplate you can cover, you can say this is the breastplate of righteousness and it protects your heart from being sad or left out.
- 2:54If you want to take it a step further and build absolute muscle memory, put on some kid sized plastic armor and play an interactive game.
- 3:03You can sit your little ones in the living room with a shield or a sword, then crumple up little pieces of aluminum foil which is light and really isn't going to hurt, and say these are the fiery darts
- 3:15of the adversary.
- 3:17Slight confusion or grumpiness that the devil tries to throw at us in our house, and then you can practice throwing them at them and they can swat it away or protect themselves with a shield while shouting get the
- 3:30hence.
- 3:32It sounds like a simple game and it is, but it teaches a young child a lifelong lesson that a bad feeling is an outside object trying to get in and they have the full authority to knock it away.
- 3:47They learn to separate the attack from their own identity of who they are as children of God.
- 3:53Now, as your children morph into teenagers and becoming young adults, you have to transfer from using tinfoil, although you could still use that listen with teens and I think they would enjoy it quite a lot into real reality
- 4:08training.
- 4:08You can look them in the eye and teach them that the biggest, bloodiest battles they will ever face are within their own minds.
- 4:17Teach your teens that the adversary operates like a silent sniper and their inner dialogue in their mind.
- 4:25He waits until they're exhausted, stressed out about a math test, feeling rejected by friends, and then he drops a dark, looming, intrusive thought in their mind.
- 4:36You could easily do this with the tinfoil game again.
- 4:39Talking about fiery darts only have different situations printed on a little slip of paper and you can read each situation to your teen and then have them counter it with a truth that they know from the word of
- 4:54God.
- 4:54We'll give some examples in the show notes today because this is what it looks like in real life every day.
- 5:00Then you also need to teach them the trap of the slip up because we all make mistakes and your teenager is going to stumble and mess up and yield to temptation at some point.
- 5:13Teach them that when they slip up, the adversary immediately changes his uniform from tempter to a prosecutor and he pushes the shame button, saying, you ruined your testimony, you can't pray now, you're dirty.
- 5:28You need to isolate yourself from God and from your parents.
- 5:31Teach your teens that that voice is a counterfeit and a lie.
- 5:35Give them 2 Corinthians, chapter 10, verse 5 as their tactical standard, casting down imagination and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
- 5:49Show them that a slip up doesn't mean that their armor is permanently broken.
- 5:54It just means that they need a little Jesus in their lives and to stand with him and by him as they fight those battles.
- 6:03Because they are truly never alone.
- 6:06All right now let's wrap it up with no matter what the age of your children.
- 6:11There are four non negotiable spiritual realities you must anchor deep into their souls so that they know they are never fighting alone.
- 6:21First is the power of angels.
- 6:24Teach them Psalm 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways.
- 6:33Teach your children that when they feel completely outnumbered, I peer pressure pressure or anxiety at school there are literal heavenly reinforcements standing guard around them as soon as they ask and invite them.
- 6:50Key number two is the defense of fasting and prayer.
- 6:53Show them that regular everyday prayers are awesome and great to connect us with God.
- 7:00But sometimes heavy situation require us to upscale our prayers.
- 7:05Read them Jesus words and Matthew chapter 17, verse 21 that says howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
- 7:16Sometimes it's important to ask for the faith and prayers of others.
- 7:22When we hit significant challenges in our lives or when the attacks of the adversary seem particularly fierce.
- 7:30The power of prayer is mighty.
- 7:32In Ecclesiastes chapter 4, verse 12, we read and if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
- 7:45Isolation is the enemy's playground.
- 7:49Family unity is a fortress.
- 7:52And when you pair family or a congregation praying and fasting for someone, miracles do indeed happen.
- 8:01Now the final key is where our focus always needs to be and that is on Jesus.
- 8:08This is the crowning jewel of your teaching.
- 8:11Spiritual warfare is not won by studying the details of the dark.
- 8:16It is amping up our light, the light of the Savior in our lives.
- 8:21Teach them Philippians chapter 4, verse 13.
- 8:25I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
- 8:29When you teach your children to connect with Jesus every day, call on Jesus in the heat of the battle and come to Jesus for healing or after a slip up, you hand them an unyielding shield that the gates
- 8:45of hell cannot prevail against.
- 8:48Oh my friend, my dear sister warrior in Christ.
- 8:51You do not have to be a perfect parent or a theological scholar scholar to raise spiritually resilient children.
- 9:00The moment you take these abstract concepts and put them into simple lessons that they can learn in your home, you are hardwiring your defense perimeter for generations to come.
- 9:15You are a guardian of your home and God has fully equipped you to teach your little army of light.
- 9:24Ask him to be with you and help you.
- 9:26Now to help you systematically build your own Scripture Power Statements and learn the exact language to teach your children, we want to give you a Mother's Spiritual Defense Guide 6 Empowering Steps to Fortify Home and Family and it's
