- 0:51Speaker 1: of this come together.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Hit buttons, the buttons. Yeah, that's my fault, buddy, that's
- 1:01Speaker 2: why it's early, right right.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yeah, So just to today, Dan's got some stuff going on.
- 1:09Speaker 3: So yeah, I've been I've been great, busy, just you know,
- 1:15Speaker 3: working and uh kind of kind of getting ready for
- 1:17Speaker 3: the for the snow to fly and yeah, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 3: just getting things buttoned up around the.
- 1:22Speaker 2: House and all that winter is coming for sure.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Winter is coming.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yes, Like a friend.
- 1:30Speaker 1: From West Roast like to say.
- 1:33Speaker 2: It's busy over here we are. I'm currently dogs sitting three.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Dogs, my first dog. Yeah, what kind of dogs.
- 1:44Speaker 2: They're all a little MutS, but you know, loving no
- 1:47Speaker 2: bigger than like twenty pounds at the most.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Okay, awesome, We're we're we're dog people. So yeah, yeah, same,
- 1:55Speaker 1: I feel like a little dog and I turned into
- 1:58Speaker 1: like a little twelve year old girl like oh yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 2: The only problem is one of them is a super
- 2:05Speaker 2: skittish dog. Well you get near him so that he's
- 2:13Speaker 2: that's that's fun though, that's fun. Yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So yeah, what uh what are we doing here?
- 2:22Speaker 2: So we're gonna we're gonna do a show, We're gonna
- 2:27Speaker 2: do a podcast main topic. H So, there was a
- 2:31Speaker 2: new announcement this week. The Nassell Company is going to
- 2:34Speaker 2: be doing Star Trek action figures. So for our main topic,
- 2:39Speaker 2: one of the big things they're asking for is they
- 2:42Speaker 2: want to do figures that have not been in the
- 2:44Speaker 2: line before, so it's never got to So we're gonna
- 2:48Speaker 2: try to come up with a list of figures we'd
- 2:50Speaker 2: like to see.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yeah, so we'll have more about that. It's also going
- 2:55Speaker 2: to be in the news. We'll talk a little bit
- 2:57Speaker 2: about what this means and all that.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Okay, and I also have a book review.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Oh that's right, yes, yes, yes, I'm.
- 3:06Speaker 1: In Time by uh Andrew Robinson. So very exciting, very excited.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, we'll definitely get to all that, but
- 3:15Speaker 2: I guess we should start with the news.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Okay, let's do it star Trek News. All right, where
- 3:23Speaker 1: did that sound come from? Star Trek News.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I think I made it using some sort of a
- 3:29Speaker 2: I prompt. Oh okay, yeah, pretty easy. Yeah. But so
- 3:37Speaker 2: here's our first news story. Comes to us from star
- 3:39Speaker 2: trek dot com. A new action figure line is coming
- 3:42Speaker 2: from Nascel. They are a toy company, and this is
- 3:46Speaker 2: a big announcement about it. So it was just announced
- 3:50Speaker 2: the figures will be on the one twelve scale, so
- 3:56Speaker 2: that's about the six inch.
- 3:59Speaker 1: So this the same size as the ones that we're
- 4:02Speaker 1: kind of familiar with, the.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Old school, the Playmates ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the Playmates
- 4:07Speaker 2: ones were four and a half inches large, slightly larger, yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 2: because the sixth inch has been the most popular figure
- 4:18Speaker 2: size right now. It's like sizes like the Marvel Legends
- 4:22Speaker 2: and stuff like that.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Gotcha, gotcha.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, So it's a little bit bigger, not much, but
- 4:29Speaker 2: a little bit. So that will be kind of interesting
- 4:33Speaker 2: because these new figures really won't work with all your
- 4:38Speaker 2: past stuff.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It's gon say, you know, like dig out my old
- 4:42Speaker 1: bridge that they're gonna look like giants.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Right, right, yeah, So it's not gonna scale to those things,
- 4:48Speaker 2: so that's gonna be tough for some collectors because you know,
- 4:51Speaker 2: you want to have your whole crew together and there's
- 4:53Speaker 2: one giant compared to everyone else that had not been
- 4:56Speaker 2: released yet, so right right, yeah, that that's gonna be
- 4:59Speaker 2: a little bit rough.
- 5:01Speaker 1: You know.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I'm sure Naseell is hoping that, like eventually we'll have
- 5:04Speaker 2: them all so you can.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Just write and then they can build you all like
- 5:08Speaker 1: you know, suttle craft and transporter rooms and engineering and bridges.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Right, I'm sure that's the goal, but it's gonna be
- 5:15Speaker 2: awkward at first. So yes, but yeah, so these are coming.
- 5:20Speaker 2: We don't have a release status to win. It was
- 5:23Speaker 2: just announced that they're doing this, and to make action
- 5:26Speaker 2: figures really takes long time because you've got to make
- 5:29Speaker 2: the the mock ups, then you make the molds. You
- 5:32Speaker 2: got to get the premie.
- 5:34Speaker 1: You gotta get you gotta get Riker's ass.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Just right, just right, yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, what
- 5:40Speaker 2: do they say, Captain America. That's America's ass, so.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Exactly, that's Star Treks ass.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That's Star Trek's ass. So yeah, it's it's going to
- 5:50Speaker 2: be a while before we see these things. I'm actually
- 5:54Speaker 2: surprised they announced it this early in the process, but yeah, fine, yeah.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Now they want to generate some buzz and you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: you're you're talking about like the size difference being kind
- 6:06Speaker 1: of awkward. I'm thinking about cool pairings from old figures
- 6:09Speaker 1: to do figures like have like a giant, like a
- 6:11Speaker 1: six foot Dianna Troy next to a four and a
- 6:14Speaker 1: half inch wharf, right right, that'd be great.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, So we'll see. I mean, I don't know
- 6:24Speaker 2: you guys listening if you're interested in these new figures,
- 6:27Speaker 2: but we'll definitely be talking about them.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yeah, has to come out. We can, you know, fatique
- 6:31Speaker 1: each of the individual ones and.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, and then our next new story. I
- 6:38Speaker 2: know that we try not to get political, but I
- 6:41Speaker 2: just wanted to mention this just so people knew it
- 6:44Speaker 2: was happening. A bunch of Starture cast members are going
- 6:47Speaker 2: to be doing an online fundraiser for Kamala Harris. The
- 6:51Speaker 2: fundraiser will take place October second. It's live in LA,
- 6:56Speaker 2: so if you live in LA you can go. Tickets
- 6:59Speaker 2: in person are one hundred and fifty dollars because it's
- 7:02Speaker 2: a fundraiser.
- 7:03Speaker 1: But Harris, she's the former Attorney general.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Right of California. That's right, the former Attorney Joernal of California,
- 7:12Speaker 2: current vice president.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's right.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah. And tickets online so you can watch the live
- 7:18Speaker 2: stream or ten dollars. They will have all sorts of
- 7:22Speaker 2: Star Trek actors there, Jonathan Fraakes, Gates McFadden, Will Wheaton,
- 7:28Speaker 2: Jonathan del Arco, Jerry Ryan, Tany Newsome to name a few.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Even Lower Decks creator Mike Mahon will be there as well.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So cool, cool. I wonder what Star Trek actors are
- 7:42Speaker 1: going to be at the Trump rally.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Right, yeah, maybe Chacote, I think, right, yeah, yeah, so
- 7:50Speaker 2: he'll be there, He'll say, Kuchi Moya.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, anybody who's ever played a backy.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, basically basically, so, yeah, so that's happened.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It's gonna be It's gonna be him and uh oh
- 8:03Speaker 1: who is Cisco's arch nemesis?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, that'd be great.
- 8:14Speaker 2: And Kelse Grammar Yeah yeah, yeah, so there you go. Yes, No,
- 8:22Speaker 2: Goldcott will not be at a political party for anyone else.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It'll be yep, just himself. He's gonna run third party.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Attention American voters.
- 8:37Speaker 2: The choice is clear. You got yes, I did nothing
- 8:42Speaker 2: wrong and I'll do nothing wrong for you.
- 8:44Speaker 1: That's right. The occupation was a good.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Idea, that's right. That's right.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Oh boy.
- 8:53Speaker 2: And then our last news story comes to us from
- 8:55Speaker 2: Red Shirts Always Die, and they are saying Star Trek
- 8:59Speaker 2: friends should brace themselves for big October. So why are
- 9:03Speaker 2: they saying this? Okay, So at the end of October,
- 9:07Speaker 2: October twenty fourth, we get the final season of Lower Decks, right,
- 9:12Speaker 2: But what has happened before is last October we had
- 9:17Speaker 2: that big partnership announcement with Kid Cuddy, right, And so
- 9:21Speaker 2: what they're saying is historic could forget it, You're right
- 9:24Speaker 2: right who that came and went? Things happen in October
- 9:29Speaker 2: for Star Trek, is what they're saying. Also, last October
- 9:33Speaker 2: there was a New York City comic con type event
- 9:36Speaker 2: and Star Trek was pretty prominent there. And so this
- 9:41Speaker 2: October there's another New York City Comic Con event at
- 9:44Speaker 2: the Javit Center. So they're saying, you know, Paramount's already
- 9:47Speaker 2: saying that they're going to be there, and Paramount's already saying, hey,
- 9:50Speaker 2: there's gonna be surprises, which they always say, so who knows.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I don't know what we'll get this October, Okay, I
- 10:03Speaker 2: don't think anything major. Maybe another section thirty one trailer
- 10:07Speaker 2: at the most. Oh yeah, that's right, that's uh, or
- 10:11Speaker 2: a release date for it. Yeah, that's still a thing
- 10:15Speaker 2: they're threatening us with it. That is happening, right, yeah, yeah, allegedly.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I mean that's not like that's that's not in pre production.
- 10:22Speaker 1: That's in production or production.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I kind of wonder too, not thinking about it, you know,
- 10:29Speaker 2: and like when when Picard ended, they did have a
- 10:34Speaker 2: one night you could go to the theaters and watch
- 10:36Speaker 2: it on the big screen, remember like they did something
- 10:40Speaker 2: like that. It was only in a handful of cities.
- 10:42Speaker 1: But you would they do a limited theater release of
- 10:47Speaker 1: a made for TV movie or made for streaming.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I mean they've done it before with with TV shows.
- 10:54Speaker 1: TV shows, But is there a precedent? Is there a
- 10:57Speaker 1: precedent for you know, we're gonna like row House the
- 11:00Speaker 1: New Roadhouse? Would they they have Is there a world
- 11:03Speaker 1: where they would do a limited theatrical release for a
- 11:07Speaker 1: made that you know, just for streaming the movie?
- 11:13Speaker 2: Stuff like that? There's a Netflix movie a few years
- 11:16Speaker 2: back that that won a couple of Oscars, and it
- 11:19Speaker 2: was in a similar situation where they only theaters to
- 11:24Speaker 2: qualify for the Oscars. Right, I'm not saying Section thirty
- 11:27Speaker 2: one is going to qualify for Oscars, but but I
- 11:31Speaker 2: could see them releasing it like La New York one weekend,
- 11:37Speaker 2: you know, one one evening. We'll watch it on the
- 11:40Speaker 2: big screen, you know. Okay, I could see that.
- 11:43Speaker 1: But we'll have to see what they announced next month.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, the big October surprise. But yeah, so that's
- 11:52Speaker 2: that is the news stories.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Sounds dirty, Yeah, cover surprise. Don't look that up. Don't
- 11:59Speaker 1: don't google Big October Surprise, kids.
- 12:02Speaker 2: No, don't, don't, don't at all. Darrel says. Also Kaiwin
- 12:07Speaker 2: would have her own political thing.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, yeah.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Totally totally. All right, Well, should we get to or
- 12:17Speaker 2: do you want to do your book review? Or do
- 12:18Speaker 2: you want to get to the main topic?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah, we can do my book review? Yeah all right. So,
- 12:25Speaker 1: uh so, you know, for some reason, I was half
- 12:27Speaker 1: expecting an intro.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Oh, let's do it, let's book So you're right.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I fine, will now come out.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Okay, right, so I uh I didn't read A Stitch
- 12:46Speaker 1: in Time. I uh listened to the audio book, and
- 12:49Speaker 1: one of the reasons why I didn't read A Stitch
- 12:52Speaker 1: in Time is because it had only one printing and
- 12:58Speaker 1: it is it was it came Mountain. It was published
- 13:01Speaker 1: June fifth, two thousand h If you try to find
- 13:04Speaker 1: this book on eBay or Amazon or a bookstore website,
- 13:08Speaker 1: you're gonna pay well over one hundred dollars for a.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Paperback cop Yeah, so limited it is.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's limited printing. And apparently it just it got
- 13:18Speaker 1: really really popular, really really quick, and uh, it's it's
- 13:23Speaker 1: very very difficult to find. So I listened to the
- 13:26Speaker 1: audiobook and it was. It's it's by uh Andrew Robinson,
- 13:31Speaker 1: who plays Garrick, and the story centers around Elan Garrick.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And it's told, uh sort of as a first person
- 13:39Speaker 1: point of view. It's actually done as it he's the
- 13:43Speaker 1: story is as penned as a letter to doctor Basher
- 13:48Speaker 1: after the Dominion War, and it's uh, it started out
- 13:54Speaker 1: as a Andrew Garfield or Hander Garfield. Andrew Robinson started
- 14:00Speaker 1: it as a biography for Elan Garrick. A lot of
- 14:04Speaker 1: times actors will when they're when they're doing a brand
- 14:08Speaker 1: new role, they'll sort of write a backstory for that.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And that's what Andrew Robinson did. He sort of started
- 14:13Speaker 1: doing a diary of Elon Garrick and he started doing
- 14:18Speaker 1: that after he got the role on Deep Phase nine
- 14:23Speaker 1: and I'm just reading from some of my notes here
- 14:26Speaker 1: when he when it was heard by a novelist named
- 14:29Speaker 1: David George the Third, he suggested he should submit it
- 14:32Speaker 1: for publishing, which is what he did, uh, and it
- 14:36Speaker 1: was very well received. They were going to do a
- 14:39Speaker 1: sequel to it, and it was going to be co
- 14:40Speaker 1: written by Alexander Sadig who was doctor Basheer. It just
- 14:45Speaker 1: never materialized. But there is a short story called The Calling,
- 14:49Speaker 1: which was published as part of a of the Prophecy
- 14:52Speaker 1: and Changed anthology in two thousand and three, if you
- 14:55Speaker 1: want to look that up. So it basically takes place
- 14:59Speaker 1: in three different time periods. The first one, which is
- 15:02Speaker 1: the longest time period. He's talking. He's telling the story
- 15:07Speaker 1: to the doctor via a letter to the doctor, and
- 15:10Speaker 1: it takes place from the time he's a small boy
- 15:13Speaker 1: living at the home of an Auburntaine all the way
- 15:18Speaker 1: up to just before Tarak Noor is turned over to
- 15:22Speaker 1: the Federation, and so it talks about basically his entire
- 15:26Speaker 1: life from joining this elite academy for like it's kind
- 15:32Speaker 1: of like the Selic Academy for spies, and he goes
- 15:38Speaker 1: to an institute called the Banar Banaran Institute for State Intelligence.
- 15:43Speaker 1: It's where basically all good Cardassians go to get educated.
- 15:47Speaker 1: And it goes through his time there, his first missions,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and his fall from grace being sent to Tarak nor Scott.
- 15:58Speaker 2: They have an audio sample right here on Amazon.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely, let's play.
- 16:04Speaker 5: That Homecoming Doctor and finding nothing but Toland's tools and
- 16:10Speaker 5: shed and irony. I think you will fully appreciate when
- 16:13Speaker 5: you finish reading this recollection. Yes, I'm afraid you weren't
- 16:18Speaker 5: expecting this response to your kind inquiry. It goes a
- 16:22Speaker 5: bit further than greetings from Krdassia, wish you were here.
- 16:28Speaker 5: It seems I'm arrogant enough to believe this collection of
- 16:31Speaker 5: reminiscences is something that may actually interest you.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Okay, I just thought it's a five minute clips.
- 16:40Speaker 1: No, yeah, right right, So, and that brings up another
- 16:42Speaker 1: interesting thing. The audiobook was narrated by Andrew Robinson by
- 16:48Speaker 1: Garrett yourzelf. So that was fantastic. So, uh. The second
- 16:53Speaker 1: timeline is, which is a very short part of the story,
- 16:57Speaker 1: is just before the mission that Garret joins Nuris on
- 17:02Speaker 1: to liberate Kardassia, just before at the last couple episodes
- 17:06Speaker 1: of d Space nine, and it basically just talks about
- 17:11Speaker 1: his mindset going into that mission. And then present day
- 17:15Speaker 1: for the novel is after the war. Garrick's on Kardassia,
- 17:20Speaker 1: and it's about his role in helping to rebuild it,
- 17:23Speaker 1: not just the planet, but also the political because you know,
- 17:28Speaker 1: after the war, it becomes apparent to all Kardassians, most
- 17:32Speaker 1: Cardassians anyways, that part of the problem of over the
- 17:35Speaker 1: last fifty sixty years was the fact that the military
- 17:38Speaker 1: was in charge of the government instead of the civilians.
- 17:41Speaker 1: So it basically it takes place on mostly Kardassia in past,
- 17:48Speaker 1: present and sort of future from the series. Also, this
- 17:54Speaker 1: academy that he goes to, it also jumps to a
- 17:57Speaker 1: few different planets based on the mission ZiT he's on
- 18:01Speaker 1: talks about. When he it talks about like remember in
- 18:03Speaker 1: the series, he's talking about when he was a gardener
- 18:06Speaker 1: for a Romulan senator.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it goes.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Into that, into that mission. That mission was talked about
- 18:15Speaker 1: when Odo was sick and Garrick was sort of tasked
- 18:18Speaker 1: to keep him occupied right during the long I right right,
- 18:24Speaker 1: and so it delves into that, and then it talks about,
- 18:29Speaker 1: you know, his time spent on Tarak Nor before it
- 18:32Speaker 1: became Deep Space nine as a tailor, why he became that,
- 18:35Speaker 1: why tailoring became a thing for him. So it was
- 18:39Speaker 1: an excellent, excellent audiobooks, about twelve hours long. It was
- 18:44Speaker 1: really really good. I highly recommend anybody who's into audiobooks
- 18:46Speaker 1: get it if you got a spare one hundred and
- 18:48Speaker 1: ten and twenty bucks. I would love to get my
- 18:52Speaker 1: hands on a copy of it. It's probably not gonna happen,
- 18:56Speaker 1: but I'd love to because next not next month, in November,
- 19:01Speaker 1: on the sixteenth and seventeenth, I'll be going to the
- 19:03Speaker 1: Grand Rapids Comic Con and Andrew Robinson. Andrew Robinson will
- 19:08Speaker 1: be there as well. As they just had somebody cancel.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I think it was Jeffrey Combs canceled. Uh, Walter Koenig's
- 19:19Speaker 1: going to be there, okay, but the person they got
- 19:22Speaker 1: to replace Jeffrey Combs is drum roll, Denise Crosby is
- 19:29Speaker 1: going to be there.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Oh that's cool.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So Tashi herself is going to be at
- 19:35Speaker 1: the Grand Rapis Comic Con. So I'm gonna be there, My
- 19:37Speaker 1: wife's gonna be there. We're gonna be covering covering the
- 19:41Speaker 1: comic con. So that's very cool. That's gonna be exciting. Nice.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Nice. Well yeah, yeah, hopefully we can get you a
- 19:47Speaker 2: copy of the book. Somebody knows how to get a
- 19:50Speaker 2: hands and cheaper one.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Let us know, right exactly, yeah, yeah, signal yep, right, absolutely, yeah.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I have audible and I have a few free credits,
- 20:01Speaker 2: so I might I might have sat up.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I got an audible count just so I could get
- 20:06Speaker 1: a free copy of it. Nice. Nice, So I I
- 20:10Speaker 1: got because it was a start. They had a they
- 20:12Speaker 1: were running a special on getting that particular audiobook or
- 20:16Speaker 1: going through that link that I got a second credit.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And for the second credit, I got an audiobook that's
- 20:25Speaker 1: based on Picard.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Okay, I'm the series or or just.
- 20:31Speaker 1: The series, and it is called Dark Veil, and it
- 20:40Speaker 1: primarily takes place on the Titan, so it takes place
- 20:43Speaker 1: about It takes place seven seven years after the events
- 20:48Speaker 1: of Nemesis and a year after the Synth, May went
- 20:55Speaker 1: nuts on Mars. Okay, yeah, yeah, so very cool and
- 20:59Speaker 1: yeah and so I you know, and it does something
- 21:02Speaker 1: that I appreciate. It doesn't jump around and really develop
- 21:08Speaker 1: characters that you're not familiar with right off the bat,
- 21:11Speaker 1: because sometimes that'll take me away from a Star Trek
- 21:13Speaker 1: novel if they spend the first four chapters talking about
- 21:16Speaker 1: trying to develop a brand new character that I know
- 21:19Speaker 1: nothing or care nothing about. You know this one, Dell's right.
- 21:22Speaker 1: They're talking about Riker, they're talking about Troy, they're talking
- 21:24Speaker 1: about you know, all the things that we're sort of
- 21:26Speaker 1: already familiar with.
- 21:27Speaker 2: So yeah, that's a good book as well.
- 21:30Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean it's the very first chapter. It
- 21:33Speaker 1: starts out Rikers in a Romulan prison.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Oh wow, oh hello? So all right, well y, yeah,
- 21:46Speaker 2: all right, So with our main topic we were going
- 21:49Speaker 2: to kind of figure out. So the Nassell Company has
- 21:54Speaker 2: announced that they do want ideas from fans for figures
- 22:00Speaker 2: that we'd like to see. Right, So, Red Shirts Always
- 22:03Speaker 2: Died did this big write up about the new figure
- 22:07Speaker 2: line that's coming. They they did point out some potential
- 22:12Speaker 2: problems to think about one being that you know, Playmates
- 22:20Speaker 2: recently did figures not too long ago in the four
- 22:24Speaker 2: point five inch, and they really didn't sell after the
- 22:27Speaker 2: first wave. We never even really got the second wave.
- 22:31Speaker 2: So do Star Trek fans even want action figures right now?
- 22:37Speaker 1: Right? And and I don't know, do we? You know?
- 22:42Speaker 2: The other thing they point out to in this article
- 22:45Speaker 2: is the Playmates figures were selling for I think like
- 22:49Speaker 2: ten bucks, right, mm hmm, but these like six inch,
- 22:54Speaker 2: highly articulated. So let me let me kind of point
- 22:58Speaker 2: out what we see on Nassell's actual website because they
- 23:02Speaker 2: have other other figures they're currently selling, right they have, Yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 2: they have like the biker mice from Mars license Bill
- 23:11Speaker 2: and Ted, and their figures run around like thirty to
- 23:15Speaker 2: forty dollars.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Right, You can't collect the whole crew like that.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I mean, I mean some people do, but yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I know, but yeah, I have I have a mortgage,
- 23:26Speaker 1: right so.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Do I yeah? Yeah? And I mean these are highly
- 23:29Speaker 2: articulated and tons of cool accessories. But yeah, so they're
- 23:34Speaker 2: designed for the collector like you and me. Right, But
- 23:38Speaker 2: you know, at forty bucks a pop, a crew of seven,
- 23:42Speaker 2: you know, it adds up quick, right, you know, much
- 23:47Speaker 2: less getting.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Vehicles and don't think that because their collectibles means that
- 23:52Speaker 1: they're gonna be worth a lot in the future. Because
- 23:54Speaker 1: the last comic con I went to, I was seeing
- 23:57Speaker 1: the old like the playmate's figures from the early nineties.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I was seeing some not so common ones going for
- 24:05Speaker 1: like ten bucks.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Right right, Yeah, they don't really retain their value, no,
- 24:11Speaker 2: So so that's one of the things that article was
- 24:14Speaker 2: pointing out is like, are people going to buy these things?
- 24:17Speaker 6: Right?
- 24:18Speaker 2: They? They recently announced the biker mice from Mars, So like,
- 24:22Speaker 2: if you're looking at this one, here is biker mice
- 24:27Speaker 2: from Mars Throttle and Martian Monster Bike Bundle. That's yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 2: I'm making three bucks for that.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Right right? And I'm a huge biker mice from Mars fan.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Aren't we all?
- 24:40Speaker 1: Aren't we all? I? That's is the first I've ever
- 24:44Speaker 1: heard of them, right, But yeah? So have you heard
- 24:48Speaker 1: of biker mice from Mars?
- 24:49Speaker 2: I vaguely remember them as a kid, vaguely.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Oh it's old.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's old.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Does anybody else in the audience remember biker mice from Mars?
- 25:01Speaker 2: The instagram is just lighting up. People are like, oh, yeah,
- 25:05Speaker 2: I love our bikeer mice. Yeah, I bet yeah, Yeah, Okay.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Well here's the You know, I feel a little bit
- 25:12Speaker 1: better because I don't have a single trying to think
- 25:17Speaker 1: maybe I have one or two that were gifts later on,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I don't. I don't really have any of my old
- 25:22Speaker 1: because I've got two or three dozen of the old
- 25:25Speaker 1: Playmate's action figures Star Trek action figures, yeah, in a
- 25:29Speaker 1: box down in my basement that I plan on displaying
- 25:31Speaker 1: once I finished my basement. Not a single one of
- 25:34Speaker 1: them is still in the package.
- 25:36Speaker 2: See Jerrold's drill copy. There was a ninety nineteen nineties cartoon.
- 25:42Speaker 2: But see look, Scott, you can get the whole bundle,
- 25:43Speaker 2: all three biker mice from ours for just one hundred
- 25:46Speaker 2: and eight bucks.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Oh well, screw the the the paperback, ready to get
- 25:53Speaker 1: that instead.
- 25:54Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. You can take their heads off
- 25:57Speaker 2: and switch off their heads and yeah, you get a
- 26:00Speaker 2: magnet for one hundred and eight bucks. You get a
- 26:02Speaker 2: magnet and we're gonna.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Have to sack lunch it for a couple of weeks.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yeah, just like the street charts. Yeah yeah. Right after
- 26:10Speaker 2: Ninja Turtles, there was a whole wave of animals and
- 26:14Speaker 2: stuff like the Cowboys and Mu Mesa and all that stuff. Yeah, so,
- 26:20Speaker 2: I mean that's what these guys are doing. So three
- 26:22Speaker 2: figures one hundred and eight dollars. I could see them
- 26:24Speaker 2: doing bundles like this, you know, like get up a
- 26:27Speaker 2: card and Riker get a I'm sure there'll be a
- 26:30Speaker 2: bones Kirk.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Yeah. And that brings up another thing about collecting figures.
- 26:36Speaker 1: From when I was a kid, like before I got
- 26:38Speaker 1: into Star Trek, I remember, you know, watching teenage m
- 26:42Speaker 1: Ninja Turtles for example, and being like, oh, they have
- 26:44Speaker 1: figures on this, And I remember saving the money and
- 26:46Speaker 1: I remember at the time they were like six bucks
- 26:49Speaker 1: apiece or ten bucks apiece, whatever they were, and I thought,
- 26:51Speaker 1: oh cool, I've saved up enough money. I'm gonna get
- 26:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna get Donna Tello and Michaelangel, Raphael and Leonardo,
- 26:59Speaker 1: and I'm gonna get those first. And I remember going
- 27:01Speaker 1: to the store.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It's like.
- 27:03Speaker 1: They they've got like one b Bop and like a
- 27:07Speaker 1: hundred Raphael's and that's it. They didn't have like it
- 27:11Speaker 1: seemed like whenever I went to Toys r Us or
- 27:13Speaker 1: a toy store, they didn't You couldn't get all four
- 27:15Speaker 1: of them. Yeah, you couldn't get all the main characters
- 27:18Speaker 1: and Splinter and Shredder. And I'm like, at the time,
- 27:22Speaker 1: I couldn't understand why can't I just go to the
- 27:24Speaker 1: store and buy exactly what I want to buy to
- 27:27Speaker 1: complete my set? And I feel like this it seems
- 27:31Speaker 1: like a recurring problem. Even in you know, with the
- 27:34Speaker 1: Star Trek figurines, it was difficult to collect, at least
- 27:36Speaker 1: from the stores, all the Star Trek you know figures
- 27:40Speaker 1: I wanted, right, So, yeah, I wonder, I wonder if
- 27:43Speaker 1: they're gonna make, you know, how they're going to release them,
- 27:46Speaker 1: as far as like they're gonna make you know, one
- 27:48Speaker 1: hundred thousand cards and Wrikers and you know a hundred
- 27:54Speaker 1: of you know Sila, you know, and are they going
- 27:58Speaker 1: to try to on purpose make some of them super rare.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure that's part of their business model,
- 28:03Speaker 1: but it's gonna be frustrating for collectors.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I'm sure I put in the in the chat, you know,
- 28:08Speaker 2: would you pay thirty to forty dollars for a Star
- 28:10Speaker 2: Trek action figure? Chasmis says, depends on how they look.
- 28:15Speaker 2: And yeah, he also says, g I Joe was hard
- 28:19Speaker 2: to collect as a kid.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Oh sure, yeah, I bet yeah, yeah.
- 28:24Speaker 2: That's true. Gerald to say that they did bring out
- 28:26Speaker 2: some Star Trek Ninja Turtle crossover figures, which I have
- 28:28Speaker 2: one back on my shelf. Oh nice, Yeah, they did
- 28:32Speaker 2: make those. But yeah, like I don't know, man, thirty
- 28:37Speaker 2: to forty bucks for a figure. I don't spend that
- 28:40Speaker 2: now because I don't buy the new.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Stuff, right, yeah, I don't either. Yeah, yeah, it's been
- 28:46Speaker 1: a while since I bought a new Star Trek like
- 28:51Speaker 1: toy or you know, right right, something like that.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I hope this line takes off, right,
- 29:02Speaker 2: Like we wanted to succeed, right, because that means more
- 29:05Speaker 2: more popular stuff for track.
- 29:08Speaker 1: But oh absolutely, yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just the last line did not do well
- 29:13Speaker 2: and and you can make all sorts of reasons why
- 29:16Speaker 2: that was, and it did fit perfectly in scale with
- 29:21Speaker 2: everything else that you had, So I don't I don't know, man.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Right right, that's that's yeah, that's a big thing. Keep
- 29:27Speaker 1: everything the same, yeah, because you know, otherwise when you
- 29:33Speaker 1: change it up, it's like, you know, going from you know,
- 29:35Speaker 1: vinyl to tape. You got to buy the white album
- 29:37Speaker 1: again and.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Right, well, and I remember Dan, like we we had
- 29:41Speaker 2: kind of talked about this before, and Dan had mentioned
- 29:44Speaker 2: how he thought one of the reasons why the line
- 29:47Speaker 2: didn't succeed is they were releasing figures that were already out.
- 29:51Speaker 2: They released another Kirk, another card, another data, you know,
- 29:56Speaker 2: right when people already had those, and like, and he
- 29:59Speaker 2: had mentioned that we they should have released stuff that
- 30:02Speaker 2: they didn't have, like a like a two vix and
- 30:04Speaker 2: and he named a couple of other characters that that
- 30:08Speaker 2: were not made right that should have been so yeah,
- 30:13Speaker 2: like like Chicote boxing.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Hey there you go. Yeah, some alternate versions of some
- 30:19Speaker 1: of these character.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Yea, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. So yeah. Oh, Darryl says,
- 30:27Speaker 2: I get Eagle Mass ships not figures. Yeah, those have
- 30:33Speaker 2: always been popular too, And that that's the other thing,
- 30:35Speaker 2: is like people want the ships, not not necessarily the figures.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I don't I don't know, man.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah, oh I just thought of another one. Maybe I should.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Are we going to make a list.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Let's make a list. Let's make a list. What's the
- 30:46Speaker 2: first one you thought of?
- 30:48Speaker 1: Uh, sexually ravaged Neelix? Oh, well, when he's in uh
- 30:56Speaker 1: two box quarters with the uh with the cling.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so yeah, yeah, I want that box art
- 31:06Speaker 2: that's sexually rabbits rabbits Nelix.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Yes, so, and then you have like the bonus cleaning
- 31:14Speaker 1: on woman in the package. M oh they can they
- 31:20Speaker 1: can even do a two boxes or yeah, two box quarters.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. If they don't sell that two pac for
- 31:31Speaker 2: sixty nine dollars, oh.
- 31:33Speaker 1: They they're gonna make a fortune. Yes, And then you
- 31:37Speaker 1: can buy like the expansion pack of characters. You can
- 31:39Speaker 1: have like a bewildered looking Tubac.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Going yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's quite the diorama people
- 31:48Speaker 2: want to put on their on their shelf.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yes, we should do it.
- 31:52Speaker 6: Oh yeah, all right, I'll ride down.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you got Jesus is it'll be at
- 32:00Speaker 2: all these.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 32:06Speaker 2: Maybe. Well, if we're gonna go Nelix, I think we
- 32:10Speaker 2: need uh barefoot Nelix at the beach party.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah yeah.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Oh oh Darryl saying Hologram Quirk's head on Kira's body.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Oh that'd be great.
- 32:30Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good one too.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Oh with the bone with the bonus alien that wanted
- 32:37Speaker 1: it played by Jeffrey Combs. Yeah yeah, I like it
- 32:43Speaker 1: that the dioramo for it could be the holo sweep program.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I think we need the mirror Universe from uh from
- 32:51Speaker 2: DS nine, the Attendant and I like it.
- 32:55Speaker 6: I like it.
- 32:58Speaker 1: One of them that I thought of was the members
- 33:00Speaker 1: of Nova Squadron, like Wesley and oh yeah Cite and yeah,
- 33:09Speaker 1: nick Lecardo and yeah the bait has said, we never
- 33:13Speaker 1: remember the name.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Of Yeah, yeah, yeah, that could be good. Yeah, I
- 33:17Speaker 2: know squad the one president they had in d S nine,
- 33:24Speaker 2: the one who refused to Yeah, yep, I forget his name,
- 33:31Speaker 2: but that.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Guy, yeah, I remember him.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Oh, oh no, Look who's here? Go on there he is?
- 33:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I used to work here.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yeah, what's up going on? He's got the he's got
- 33:51Speaker 2: the hood on. He's looking a little worse for wear.
- 33:53Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 33:54Speaker 1: He's undercover?
- 33:56Speaker 8: It is It is the Sday morning, like in a
- 34:01Speaker 8: long time. Oh yeah, it's been a rough couple of weeks.
- 34:06Speaker 8: I uh, I was waiting all week and then uh Friday,
- 34:10Speaker 8: I had to leave training early and drive home and
- 34:13Speaker 8: then drive an hour to Buddy's house and then drive
- 34:16Speaker 8: three and a half hours to that UH remembrance party.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 34:21Speaker 1: That way.
- 34:23Speaker 6: There was a lot of remembering, and there was a
- 34:25Speaker 6: lot of.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that usually happened. Yeah, yeah, it's good
- 34:32Speaker 1: to see it.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you.
- 34:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I got home yesterday afternoon and I'm I'm just
- 34:37Speaker 8: I'm still exhausted.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Yeah, you look pretty pretty rough, dude.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, So what are you guys talking about? What's
- 34:43Speaker 6: what's the topic?
- 34:44Speaker 1: Actually we're talking we're talking about you were talking about
- 34:47Speaker 1: space for us and yeah, Action figure.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. A new company, Nassau Company, has announced they're
- 34:58Speaker 2: gonna take over the Star Trek Action your lines. They're
- 35:01Speaker 2: going to be releasing new figures and they want to
- 35:04Speaker 2: do an emphasis Huh what scale?
- 35:07Speaker 6: Do we know what? Scale?
- 35:08Speaker 2: Six inch? All right, okay, yeah, so that's.
- 35:12Speaker 1: A little bit bigger than the Playmates ones that we're
- 35:15Speaker 1: used to.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Ye, and they want to do figures that had not
- 35:18Speaker 2: been in the line before. So they are taking suggestions
- 35:22Speaker 2: from fans and so we're making a list so we
- 35:25Speaker 2: can email over to them.
- 35:26Speaker 6: Two mix yep, yeah, two X exactly.
- 35:29Speaker 1: But I meant I came up with the sexually ravaged
- 35:33Speaker 1: Neelix from that episode where he has sex with that
- 35:35Speaker 1: Klingon woman, and.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Then we want the Klingon woman as a two pac
- 35:40Speaker 2: for sixty nine dollars.
- 35:45Speaker 1: And then as a bonus, you can like you can
- 35:47Speaker 1: buy different you can buy different characters, different action figures,
- 35:51Speaker 1: and they each come with a small piece of two
- 35:54Speaker 1: box room after they got done having their escapades.
- 35:58Speaker 2: That's right.
- 36:00Speaker 8: Well, something that's that that's popular over the last couple
- 36:03Speaker 8: of decades is the is the build a figure concept. Yeah,
- 36:06Speaker 8: you buy a figure, you get a piece of another one,
- 36:08Speaker 8: and you know, by all six in the set, you
- 36:11Speaker 8: get to build the exclusive figure. So you know, maybe
- 36:16Speaker 8: two Vix could be like everybody gets a piece of
- 36:17Speaker 8: two Vix this way if you you know, if you
- 36:20Speaker 8: don't get the whole set, you don't have all of
- 36:22Speaker 8: tuo vis.
- 36:23Speaker 6: You just throw the pieces out the.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Air locks like JA, or you could do data or
- 36:30Speaker 1: like uh who was in the drawer in it was
- 36:35Speaker 1: before you could do a B four and you could
- 36:37Speaker 1: do the pieces just like he was in the drawer.
- 36:39Speaker 6: Yes, I want to fully I want a fully functional
- 36:43Speaker 6: naked data.
- 36:44Speaker 1: That's yes, that's what we all want. That's what we
- 36:47Speaker 1: all want. Dad.
- 36:50Speaker 6: Oh, you you get, you get Riker.
- 36:52Speaker 8: But the beard, the beard is its sections, so it's removed,
- 36:57Speaker 8: you're removed just besides.
- 36:58Speaker 6: It becomes Thomas Briker.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great.
- 37:03Speaker 6: Person.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Did they make an attendant figure? Yes, yep, oh they
- 37:09Speaker 2: did do that. Okay, well there there goes that.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Well they could still do I'm pretty sure they didn't
- 37:16Speaker 1: do Smiley or ben Cisco.
- 37:19Speaker 6: Nope, no j is all.
- 37:21Speaker 2: These is gonna have a lot of toys to sell, true,
- 37:24Speaker 2: absolutely right, because nobody's good.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Well, and then the the company that sell sells their
- 37:32Speaker 2: figures at like between thirty to forty dollars. What and
- 37:36Speaker 2: we're yeah, because the collector of grade ones and so
- 37:40Speaker 2: if they weren't buying the playmates at ten dollars or
- 37:43Speaker 2: people who were really going to buy these at thirty
- 37:44Speaker 2: and forty, yeah, I'm out already, he's out.
- 37:52Speaker 8: I'm definitely not gonna I'm definitely not gonna collect them all. Yeah,
- 37:57Speaker 8: Like if they came out with a two X figure,
- 37:59Speaker 8: I would, because you know, yeah, the one there's never
- 38:03Speaker 8: there's never been one. But the idea that I'm going
- 38:06Speaker 8: to uh redo my entire Star Trek collection and this
- 38:10Speaker 8: scale at thirty bucks a pop is just not realistic.
- 38:13Speaker 2: It's not gonna happen. It's not happening.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you need to get promoted in space for us. Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: you need to get you need to make colonel, Yeah exactly.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Maybe they'll do a three D printer that you can
- 38:28Speaker 2: print your other figures anytime you want.
- 38:30Speaker 1: There.
- 38:31Speaker 8: I tell you what, man, there are people out there that, yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 8: groups on Facebook of people just three D print thrown
- 38:38Speaker 8: action figures and yeah, share files or they charge people
- 38:42Speaker 8: for I am a bargain shopper.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Chasmis says, the Dan's a bargain shopper.
- 38:51Speaker 9: You know what.
- 38:53Speaker 6: Stroll through Ali's at least two or three times a
- 38:55Speaker 6: month just to see, just.
- 38:57Speaker 2: To see on who's the Jedi that join the stream?
- 39:04Speaker 6: You know, you know when I'm down here in the workshop,
- 39:08Speaker 6: everyone uh you know what I pop in his show
- 39:11Speaker 6: like this is always stuff hanging around.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the way.
- 39:17Speaker 6: There's always there's always stuffed nearby.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, there we go.
- 39:24Speaker 1: That's great. You know, I still think we need to
- 39:26Speaker 1: have a show and tell show sometimes we have all
- 39:30Speaker 1: the have all the Facebook fans come out and post
- 39:33Speaker 1: pictures and stuff and then do a show where we
- 39:35Speaker 1: talk about some of the swag that we've got.
- 39:36Speaker 2: We should do that. Yeah, put it on the list,
- 39:39Speaker 2: put it on the list.
- 39:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I saw that in the chat. We're supposed to
- 39:44Speaker 6: bring a pen.
- 39:45Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, no, Scott's got it. He's been writing
- 39:50Speaker 2: down the list. Well, any other figures you think, let's see,
- 39:55Speaker 2: let's you know the line better than me. I wanted
- 40:01Speaker 2: the dog from Lower Decks.
- 40:03Speaker 6: The dog, the dog, what dog?
- 40:06Speaker 2: The uh what's her name's dog that she genetically engineered it?
- 40:11Speaker 2: A dog?
- 40:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, and I want to remember the name.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Of course, Kindy made the dog. And then what the
- 40:21Speaker 1: exo comp Oh yeah, peanut Hamper, Peanut Hamper, Peanut Hamper,
- 40:27Speaker 1: Badgie and whoever Jeffrey Comb's voice should all be like
- 40:33Speaker 1: one pack.
- 40:35Speaker 6: Yeah, that's gonna be like a four thousand.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly, all the Jeffrey Comb characters.
- 40:43Speaker 6: All that collection.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Yes, yep. Oh I just thought of another one for
- 40:49Speaker 1: a collection. Uh, the Serena and Patrick and the genetically
- 40:54Speaker 1: enhanced folks from dCas nine.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, you know it doesn't be good. I
- 41:01Speaker 2: was just thinking for the Jeffrey cos pack, you could
- 41:03Speaker 2: have Jeffrey Combes as a build a figure. You have
- 41:06Speaker 2: to buy all of them to build the Jeffrey Cohes figure.
- 41:09Speaker 6: There you go, there you go.
- 41:11Speaker 1: I like it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I want to see
- 41:16Speaker 1: Serena because I'm a big I like faith Sale. She's
- 41:19Speaker 1: the one that played Serena on that.
- 41:21Speaker 8: Yeah, they could have they could have like the Faces
- 41:26Speaker 8: of Evil ten pack, and they're all they're all admirals.
- 41:33Speaker 2: With buen Amigo. Who was the bad Amigo?
- 41:37Speaker 1: Yeah, all the bad admirals.
- 41:42Speaker 2: RoboCop being evil twice.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Yep, that's right.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that's Enterprise and Enterprise movies.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:52Speaker 6: The best RoboCop quote was, uh, the guy died and
- 41:57Speaker 6: they still made him come to work.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Yes, did you see Amazon announced they're going to make
- 42:04Speaker 2: a RoboCop show.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I did see that. Yeah. Yeah, so are they gonna
- 42:11Speaker 1: do it? No live action? Now there's three there's three
- 42:17Speaker 1: options for this. They could make it visually like they
- 42:20Speaker 1: made the two thousand and sixteen movie. Yea. They could
- 42:24Speaker 1: make it like the Peter Weller visually, or they could
- 42:27Speaker 1: do their own. If they're smart and they want the nostalgia,
- 42:30Speaker 1: they want people my age to really watch it, They'll
- 42:34Speaker 1: make the suit look just like the one from nineteen
- 42:36Speaker 1: eighty whatever.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 42:42Speaker 8: Well, they said there was supposed really a movie in
- 42:48Speaker 8: production a couple of years ago that was going to
- 42:51Speaker 8: be another to the first movie they were going to ignore.
- 42:57Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know whatever, Oh you can.
- 42:58Speaker 1: You can't ignore RoboCop to.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Where he fights to Ninja.
- 43:07Speaker 1: No, that was a heart that that didn't happen. Yeah,
- 43:11Speaker 1: Peter Weller wrote roll Cops or Nothing.
- 43:12Speaker 8: Robo Cops three I watched. I watched Robo Cops three
- 43:17Speaker 8: exactly once. There, I watched it once thirty years Yeah.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Well, here here's the thing. You're not unique because nobody's
- 43:25Speaker 1: ever seen it twice.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Fair point.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Yeah, who was the actor that played him in roller
- 43:33Speaker 1: Cup three?
- 43:36Speaker 2: Where they could find.
- 43:39Speaker 6: But he looked enough like Peter Weller that most people
- 43:42Speaker 6: are like, is it?
- 43:44Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 43:45Speaker 1: From here down? Yeah?
- 43:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all that matters.
- 43:50Speaker 1: I could I could pretend to be Dan from here. Yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I gotta find out now.
- 43:59Speaker 2: All right, Is there any other figures we should throw
- 44:01Speaker 2: on our list? Or is that the list?
- 44:03Speaker 6: My god, I don't know. There's just so many.
- 44:08Speaker 8: Yeah, there's I think they need some Klingon army builders.
- 44:13Speaker 8: They need some borg army builders, but not all that
- 44:17Speaker 8: look the same, like different, you know, if they make
- 44:20Speaker 8: a Klingon, but they but they do a couple different
- 44:23Speaker 8: molds of the face, and they do a couple of
- 44:24Speaker 8: different molds of the of the arms and and the legs,
- 44:28Speaker 8: and then you can mix and mash.
- 44:29Speaker 6: Them like an entire army. Guys. Yeah, learned to that,
- 44:33Speaker 6: but then I'm not at thirty bucks a pop.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Right right, I don't know. Yeah, And I mean you
- 44:42Speaker 2: could do since they do the biker mice from Mars figures,
- 44:45Speaker 2: They've got a lot of like weapons accessories, so you
- 44:49Speaker 2: could do an action saru. It just is like, punish
- 44:54Speaker 2: your armory.
- 44:56Speaker 1: I like it. Biker mice from Mars action fig yours?
- 45:00Speaker 6: What do you?
- 45:01Speaker 1: Where's your collection at Dan biker mice?
- 45:06Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, many?
- 45:09Speaker 8: I got h lower decks. I would like show lower
- 45:14Speaker 8: decks the original episode Lower decks. I would like, Oh yeah, characters, Yeah,
- 45:20Speaker 8: there are so many. There are so many ancillary characters
- 45:24Speaker 8: in Star Trek that only appeared in one or maybe
- 45:26Speaker 8: two episodes, and Playmates did make a lot of those.
- 45:32Speaker 8: But there's so many of those characters that there are
- 45:35Speaker 8: just so many more that they no Moogie, They never
- 45:39Speaker 8: did the female change thing. There's no wayum, there's no DeMar.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Some of them are really obscure, like the one
- 45:47Speaker 1: where Card goes to Riza and at the very end,
- 45:52Speaker 1: the time cops show up. They made it. I forgot
- 45:56Speaker 1: what they were called, but uh, they made an action
- 46:00Speaker 1: figure of them.
- 46:01Speaker 6: Yes. Yeah, so when Tom Parris uh breaks the warped
- 46:04Speaker 6: ten barrier and later becomes a lizard person, right, that's
- 46:09Speaker 6: the mean point where he just looked like, uh no,
- 46:13Speaker 6: when you look like a lizard person, not when he
- 46:15Speaker 6: looks like the tadpole at the end, the lizard version
- 46:19Speaker 6: of him.
- 46:21Speaker 7: Uh.
- 46:22Speaker 6: They made that and it sat on the shelf for years. Yeah,
- 46:26Speaker 6: I remember there was there was the Kmart house. There
- 46:30Speaker 6: was one of those figures on the shelf for like
- 46:33Speaker 6: six years.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Wow.
- 46:35Speaker 6: The card was all bent up the corners around.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, so they made that.
- 46:42Speaker 6: They made that, but there's no general marktalk that see,
- 46:48Speaker 6: you're right shameful. They need a mark talk so that
- 46:52Speaker 6: you can switch switch. He's gotta have three heads. He's
- 46:55Speaker 6: gonna have one with two eyes, one with an eye patch,
- 46:59Speaker 6: and one with the scar o.
- 47:01Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah yeah. Oh, speaking to Klingons, they should
- 47:04Speaker 1: do the the three Klingons that were in the original
- 47:07Speaker 1: series and on d Space nine.
- 47:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Yeah they did. Ah, they did an Alexander, but they
- 47:15Speaker 2: should do a better one they did.
- 47:17Speaker 6: Alexander was not he was not a figure. He was
- 47:21Speaker 6: a figurine that came with wharf.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, so just like in the series, he was
- 47:27Speaker 1: an afterthought.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they did that too, was like a little.
- 47:33Speaker 6: Yeah yeah yeah, but Jake got his own figure.
- 47:39Speaker 1: So like, were these Nog the Nog and the Alexander?
- 47:42Speaker 1: Were they just like molded ones that weren't articulable? Yeah yeah, okay, a.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Little like the Little Green Army Men basically Okay, it
- 47:51Speaker 2: was Yeah, it was an excestory. We need a spot and.
- 47:59Speaker 6: Yep movie and liquidate or brunt. Yeah, and you know
- 48:06Speaker 6: what I Want I Want? Do you remember? Yeah?
- 48:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Would love am I Want I Want? When when d
- 48:18Speaker 2: S nine did there where he's Benny Johnson writing the story.
- 48:22Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it's real.
- 48:27Speaker 1: That's another good one.
- 48:28Speaker 6: Yeah, we're getting into the weeds. Yeah, you know, these
- 48:33Speaker 6: are these boys, you're supposed to.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Be playing with them, right, Yeah?
- 48:38Speaker 6: How do you how do you do? How would a
- 48:40Speaker 6: kid play.
- 48:42Speaker 1: With that? Uh?
- 48:44Speaker 6: That's like I know I've talked about this before. There's
- 48:46Speaker 6: an old FNL commercial out there of when they they
- 48:51Speaker 6: made a fake commercial for the movie Philadelphia where Tom
- 48:56Speaker 6: has has AIDS and gets fired from the law firm.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh yeah, that rom Com.
- 49:01Speaker 6: Yeah, they made action figures for that. So there's a
- 49:04Speaker 6: scene where the you know, the kids are on the
- 49:06Speaker 6: floor and they're like, you know, you can't work here,
- 49:09Speaker 6: you've got AIDS. And then they fire whistle across the room.
- 49:14Speaker 6: Go look it up.
- 49:15Speaker 2: I know I have to find that. I know they
- 49:18Speaker 2: did something similar with uh when the Star Trek figures
- 49:21Speaker 2: or Star Wars figures started coming back out and they're like,
- 49:23Speaker 2: or you could just buy them and leave them on
- 49:24Speaker 2: the shelf. Yeah, because the kids want.
- 49:28Speaker 1: I'm la AIDS, you can't work here. That rebind's where
- 49:33Speaker 1: that Family Guy sketch where they do the musical You've
- 49:36Speaker 1: got AIDS, not HIV but full bloateds. Oh my god,
- 49:42Speaker 1: it's a family guy skit. Don't send me email people.
- 49:46Speaker 6: Oh no, no, no, I'm cutting that up. I'm making
- 49:49Speaker 6: that great.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Another another figures that I thought of. We we talked
- 49:57Speaker 1: about this episode not that long ago. Uh, Gabriel Bell
- 50:01Speaker 1: and Company. Yeah yeah, so like the guy that wanted
- 50:06Speaker 1: to go to Tasmania and Gabriel Bell, you know, Cisco
- 50:09Speaker 1: dressed up as Bell and Yeah.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Oh I want I want pimp rios.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Yeah with with French picard. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that'd
- 50:25Speaker 1: be great. A little feather.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Just put that on my show. Yeah, it's my Star
- 50:34Speaker 2: Trek figure. Why does he look like a pip?
- 50:39Speaker 1: Yeah? If you're listening to this, definitely in the Facebook group,
- 50:42Speaker 1: put down what your recommendations are for for figures.
- 50:47Speaker 8: All right, I want to I want some suggestions. I'm
- 50:50Speaker 8: gonna jet, guys, I'll be back. I'll be back next time.
- 50:55Speaker 2: All right, good seeing you, danebody.
- 50:58Speaker 6: Keep it keep it real and I still work here.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Don't forget it, okay, and keep the worm for you
- 51:04Speaker 1: all right?
- 51:05Speaker 2: Bye bye?
- 51:07Speaker 1: All right, that was great. Yeah yeah, uh.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so okay, somebody just ass on Instagram? How long
- 51:18Speaker 2: have you guys been going live for a while. We've
- 51:21Speaker 2: been doing this a while. Oh, Jasmin says Spock's brain
- 51:28Speaker 2: for a figure? Yeah yeah, or was that that the
- 51:35Speaker 2: horn on it?
- 51:36Speaker 1: Instead?
- 51:36Speaker 2: It's an alien?
- 51:37Speaker 7: Oh?
- 51:38Speaker 1: That perfect? Perfect. They could do the pets of Star
- 51:40Speaker 1: Trek and just have like a little collection like you
- 51:43Speaker 1: know when they do. Uh, I've got some micro machines
- 51:45Speaker 1: here with all the ships. They could do something similar
- 51:47Speaker 1: with the pets.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, get a porthos in a spot and uh yeah,
- 51:53Speaker 2: what was his name?
- 51:53Speaker 1: Grudged in the cat doing the show live? Is that
- 51:56Speaker 1: something that you guys started or did David and Darren
- 51:59Speaker 1: do that?
- 52:01Speaker 2: I don't remember if they ever went live.
- 52:05Speaker 1: I just saw a memory come up on my Facebook
- 52:08Speaker 1: feed that this is the one Well, this week is
- 52:11Speaker 1: the one year anniversary that I started doing the show,
- 52:15Speaker 1: So congratulations.
- 52:17Speaker 2: To me, that's right, congratulations. All right, Well let's uh,
- 52:22Speaker 2: I think that's a good place to stop, and then
- 52:25Speaker 2: we should get into listener feedback.
- 52:27Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, listener feedback, all right, so let's see.
- 52:40Speaker 2: The alien dogs Sulu held. Yeah, that's the that's what
- 52:43Speaker 2: I was talking about.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, let me check. I don't think I've got
- 52:47Speaker 1: any emails.
- 52:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't either, and I we weren't sure if
- 52:53Speaker 2: we were going to do a show until much later.
- 52:55Speaker 2: There's just been a lot going on, so don't forget.
- 52:58Speaker 1: You can send your emails into trek Cast TNG at
- 53:01Speaker 1: gmail dot com, or you can send one to me
- 53:04Speaker 1: at strong Beard one seven oh one at gmail dot com.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Uh so, and you can leave us a voicemail at
- 53:14Speaker 2: five seven zero six six one zero zero zero one.
- 53:19Speaker 2: That's five seven zero six six one zero zero zero one.
- 53:25Speaker 1: That's uh, let's put that up on the Facebook and
- 53:28Speaker 1: Instagram things too.
- 53:31Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, and we do have all the social
- 53:34Speaker 2: media's were on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram.
- 53:41Speaker 1: All of them, and please go to those and interact,
- 53:43Speaker 1: do the like, do the share, do the subscribe, all
- 53:45Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. Yeah, that helps us spread it
- 53:48Speaker 1: and spread the word and all that.
- 53:51Speaker 2: So oh, all the hundred says they should make a
- 53:54Speaker 2: Badgie figure from lower decks. Yeah, that would be a
- 53:56Speaker 2: great one. So yep, all right, Chas was just xed up,
- 54:02Speaker 2: so he'll be coming on in a second.
- 54:04Speaker 1: They should do like an AI uh like value pack
- 54:08Speaker 1: for for lower decks, you know, Badgie and like like
- 54:11Speaker 1: I said before, and the Jeffrey Combs computer and and
- 54:17Speaker 1: and uh Peanut Hamper.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Yeah, they could do that guy control from U Disco.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah, hey you know what I just thought of.
- 54:28Speaker 1: I bet an Exo comp would make a pretty cool
- 54:31Speaker 1: I don't know if you'd want to do a full
- 54:33Speaker 1: scale one, but maybe a three quarter or half scale yeah,
- 54:37Speaker 1: maybe something that opened up that you know at like
- 54:39Speaker 1: a play set or something.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that'd be kind of neat.
- 54:43Speaker 1: It'd be obscure enough to be cool, but not so
- 54:46Speaker 1: obscure that Star Trek fans wouldn't recognize it, right right, I.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Would want an Exo comp piggy bank.
- 54:53Speaker 9: Since there you go.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, look you come with different accessories. You
- 54:59Speaker 1: could put like little thing like on the nose of it.
- 55:01Speaker 2: You can have like different tools, right right, Yeah, well
- 55:05Speaker 2: here we go, chestiness. There there is.
- 55:09Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm driving.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Hey, all right, all right, yeah, all right?
- 55:16Speaker 9: What's going on the airport?
- 55:18Speaker 6: So?
- 55:19Speaker 2: Oh no? Yeah, well maybe you should focus on day.
- 55:26Speaker 1: He's a professional.
- 55:27Speaker 9: I'll make her hold the phone.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Okay, what's going on?
- 55:36Speaker 9: Not much? Yeah, I'm just.
- 55:39Speaker 10: Driving to the airport. Okay, So all right, she's going
- 55:43Speaker 10: to Italy. So oh wow, So I'm home alone for
- 55:48Speaker 10: two weeks.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Oh man, oh you're gonna get in trouble.
- 55:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 55:53Speaker 10: So I'm gonna have to set the house up like
- 55:55Speaker 10: Kevin McAllister and have like little like figurines and stuff
- 55:58Speaker 10: like new b Yeah.
- 56:02Speaker 1: So did you have any suggestions for figures that they
- 56:04Speaker 1: could make? Oh?
- 56:05Speaker 2: Man, this.
- 56:08Speaker 9: Well you could do. Did they ever make the Mirror
- 56:10Speaker 9: Universe a Kia?
- 56:13Speaker 1: Yeah? I think the intended the tendant.
- 56:16Speaker 10: I'm trying to think because that there's a bunch of
- 56:18Speaker 10: mirror universes you could do, you could do, you know, wow,
- 56:23Speaker 10: so many figurines, but some of them are are like
- 56:26Speaker 10: you said, they're in the bargain band, right. And I
- 56:31Speaker 10: purchased one that was signed by Andrew Robertson that was
- 56:36Speaker 10: the care and I got it for thirty dollars.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 56:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 56:41Speaker 10: And then I got another one that was signed by
- 56:44Speaker 10: John Delancey for like twenty dollars. Oh okay, okay, And
- 56:49Speaker 10: I I saw those and I was like, I'm buying
- 56:52Speaker 10: those because there's in their.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Cheek awaiting game scause. He'd buy seroo figure that shoots
- 57:01Speaker 2: out the little spinners that he had.
- 57:04Speaker 1: If it could go super seru Yeah.
- 57:08Speaker 10: Yeah, super yeah, shoot those little spiky things out the
- 57:12Speaker 10: side of his head.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Well, didn't the company say that's making these figures, say
- 57:16Speaker 1: that they were taking email suggestions?
- 57:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's why we're making the list so we
- 57:22Speaker 2: can email.
- 57:23Speaker 9: Are they making a Blippy Year what was his name?
- 57:26Speaker 10: Last heard? The little thing that ate everything last year?
- 57:31Speaker 10: Oh yeah, on lower decks, lower decks. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 57:38Speaker 10: you know, I'm.
- 57:38Speaker 9: Talking about slippy or something like that.
- 57:41Speaker 1: No, the mops moopsie.
- 57:44Speaker 9: Yes, they made a moopsie.
- 57:46Speaker 6: Yeah, that's right.
- 57:48Speaker 9: Yeah, and they need a dog that turns into.
- 57:51Speaker 2: Like a crazy Yeah that's what I was saying.
- 57:54Speaker 1: The dog.
- 57:54Speaker 9: Yeah, the dog, it's all crazy.
- 57:57Speaker 1: If they take email suggestions, maybe we could all band
- 58:00Speaker 1: together and have them do like the podcasters of Trek Collection.
- 58:04Speaker 2: And have right have a Trek cast.
- 58:07Speaker 9: Oh, you should do an series, set up a calendar
- 58:12Speaker 9: this year. You guys got to do.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Wait, they should do a what Daniel.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Awkward Fans series?
- 58:19Speaker 1: Just like.
- 58:21Speaker 2: You know, they have all they could come up with
- 58:24Speaker 2: an awkward fan from Star Trek.
- 58:25Speaker 6: So absolutely.
- 58:29Speaker 1: All they got to do is watch the documentary Trekkies.
- 58:32Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, basically those people.
- 58:36Speaker 9: Yeah, and they all look like Chris Farley.
