- 0:00Hello and welcome back to the episode about it.
- 0:02Lorenzi, how are you all doing if you're doing great?
- 0:04For today's episode, I want to talk about Ilebai, former Big
- 0:08Brother, Nigerian winner Ilebai Odinia.
- 0:12Now we're just intermoding our business.
- 0:15When Ilebai went on live, she had a swollen face.
- 0:19She was crying, saying that she's tired, people should help
- 0:22her, she wants to live. Now people started wondering
- 0:27what is going on, who must have done this to Illy by now.
- 0:33According to reports and according to sources, it was her
- 0:36father that did this to her. According to what they had said,
- 0:43today's her birthday. So she went to her father's
- 0:46house. Now, her father and mother had
- 0:48been divorced since 2024. And according to the story, the
- 0:52mother ran out of the house because of the way the father
- 0:56was battering the mother. And he was, she was able to just
- 1:00go with Ellie Baye while the two boys remained with the father.
- 1:05Now, Ellie Baye, from pictures that we've seen online, she has
- 1:09a good relationship with dad or we thought because we've seen
- 1:13pictures of, you know, her and the dad smiling.
- 1:16So today's her birthday. And according to resource
- 1:19sources, she went to her father's house to celebrate her
- 1:23birthday with her brothers. Now, for whatever reason,
- 1:28something went wrong and the dad pounced on her, locked the door,
- 1:37did not want to let her leave. So the mother, according to the
- 1:40story, advised her to go live so that people can know people can
- 1:44help or rescue her out of the house because the mother
- 1:48couldn't go to the house because she knew or she she.
- 1:51According to the story, if she had gone to the house, she would
- 1:54receive even more beating than Ilibae.
- 1:59The video went viral, people started reporting to the police
- 2:04and according to the story, the police actually went to Ilibae's
- 2:07house. But according to the story, the
- 2:10father is a very known politician in Abuja, so the
- 2:15police couldn't break in. You know, if if it was a poor
- 2:18man house, they could have broken in, they could have done
- 2:21everything, they would have thrown tear gas, you know, you
- 2:24know how Nigerian police operate.
- 2:27But because he's a politician, they couldn't do any of those
- 2:29things. So they just sat and waited
- 2:33outside. According to the story,
- 2:36eventually Elie Baye had been released.
- 2:39She's in the hospital receiving treatment.
- 2:42The police eventually arrested the father.
- 2:44According to Linda KG, the father was arrested at the
- 2:48police station. The mother couldn't go to the
- 2:50police station because she feared for her life.
- 2:53And then according to the story, he has also been released and
- 2:58the two boys had come back with him.
- 3:02And according to the story, the reason why Elie Baye went to the
- 3:05house was because she heard that her two brothers were being
- 3:09maltreated by the father, who had also been who had also
- 3:12remarried, by the way. So she got stories or she heard
- 3:18stories that her brothers are not being treated well.
- 3:20So she went there to kind of maybe see things for herself.
- 3:25Or this was happening around 22 AM.
- 3:31So we don't know, maybe she sneaked into the house and the
- 3:35father found out. We don't know the situation, but
- 3:39she was, she was beaten. Now it is shocking because we,
- 3:48we've heard about domestic violence, but most times it's,
- 3:54it comes from the, the, the female part of, you know, I've
- 3:59had uncles, I've had dads, you know, my father never laid his
- 4:03hands on me. My uncles never laid their hands
- 4:05on me. So for me it's foreign.
- 4:08You know, my mom and the aunties on the other hands, you know,
- 4:11that's a different story. So it's kind of strange for a
- 4:16father to, to, to beat his daughter to that level.
- 4:21Now the what people are failing to understand, because people
- 4:24are portioning blames, you know, blaming the father, they're
- 4:27blaming the mother, they're blaming her.
- 4:30Why did she go to the house and all those kind of things.
- 4:33How do you protect a child who you yourself had put in that
- 4:39situation? If let's say he, Levi gets
- 4:42married to somebody else and that person is beating her, what
- 4:47would you as a father do when you've done the same thing to
- 4:51your child? I think this is where the
- 4:53psychological damage comes in. You know, your mother can beat a
- 4:57child. You know, it's it doesn't
- 5:00really. Yes, there's that trauma, but
- 5:03it's not as traumatic as the fact that your father laid your
- 5:07his hands on you. It's a different story.
- 5:11That is where you hear daddy issues.
- 5:13You know there are ladies who in relationship will say if he
- 5:19doesn't beat you, he doesn't love you, where does that come
- 5:22from? You know, you start asking all
- 5:24these questions, you start peeling all the layers and you
- 5:27see that this is deep rooted in families.
- 5:33They learnt it from somewhere. I hope you lay by your heels
- 5:39now. Every family have their own
- 5:41family drama because Tacha came out, she was blaming the father.
- 5:46How could the father put his hands on, you know, his daughter
- 5:50and Fina unusual Fina, who is also a winner of the Big Brother
- 5:54house, She's also had her own issues with her family.
- 5:57She had his own. She also had issues with her
- 6:01dad, to be honest with you. In fact, she disowned her dad.
- 6:05She she disowned her family. On her page, she said she's an
- 6:08orphan. So Fina has had her own fair
- 6:11share with family drama and she's coming out to say, listen,
- 6:18people should not blame the father, you know, for putting
- 6:21his hands on her, which I found strange because I mean, Fina,
- 6:24you've had your own issues. In fact, you every day you're
- 6:27coming out online to drag your family.
- 6:30So saying that they should settle it as a family issue to
- 6:34me is kind of, you know, I, I don't even get it because if
- 6:40it's, if it was a family issue, you would have settled your
- 6:43family issue offline without bringing it online.
- 6:46You wouldn't be dragging your father wouldn't be dragging your
- 6:48siblings. OK.
- 6:50It would have been family issues where you settle online.
- 6:53So I, I, she, she tried, according to the story, she
- 6:56actually tried. She was the first person that
- 6:59called the police to help Ilebai, which we appreciate.
- 7:04But saying that this is a family matter is these, these are the,
- 7:08these are the problems. If things get swept under the
- 7:13carpet, swept under the rug, deal with it as a family.
- 7:17Nobody should talk about it. You know, bully people into
- 7:21silence. That is where the problem
- 7:23starts. That is where the problem
- 7:26starts. And yes, every family have their
- 7:32drama. Every family might not be
- 7:34domestic violence. It might not be beating
- 7:36children. It might not be Listen, there
- 7:39are so many that Peter, Peter, Peter B Square has changed his
- 7:44birthday. Peter B Square is twins to Paul
- 7:48Okoye, rude boy. He has literally changed his
- 7:53birthday. He said he's no longer
- 7:54celebrating his birthday with his twin brother.
- 7:56Just to show you the level of detachment that these two twins
- 8:01have. Paul is not saying anything.
- 8:04Peter is the one, you know, screaming online, which
- 8:08sometimes the the person talking would look like the dramatic
- 8:13one. But maybe he's the one being
- 8:16bullied and all he the way he knows how to fight is to come
- 8:21out and say something. So I think regardless of
- 8:25whatever family drama anybody's called going through, anybody
- 8:29that brings their own online, we as the online potatoes, we'd
- 8:34have microphone and ring lights. We have to we have to talk,
- 8:39which is I've said that listen, Fina, it's not about families
- 8:46settling privately. This is now a public matter.
- 8:51According to the story, Eli by his mom told her to go on live
- 8:57to show what is going on with her, to show how her dad had
- 9:01battered her just for people so that people can even rescue her.
- 9:05Because the mother knew she couldn't go to the house that
- 9:08level, even by one Big Brother. We never heard anything.
- 9:14She was not posted, she just went blank.
- 9:19And according to the story, it was the father's influence
- 9:24because he's a politician. According to the the story, he
- 9:27doesn't want her to disgrace him online.
- 9:30And she did everything she was not.
- 9:33She was, she was so private. So if you go to her page, she
- 9:36had about just three pictures. She's not even up to me.
- 9:40This is a Big Brother winner. She doesn't have up to 1,000,000
- 9:44followers because she's trying to protect whatever.
- 9:49We don't know. And we're just getting a peek
- 9:52into what is actually going on behind closed doors.
- 9:56This is sad. Now, men, our fathers, our
- 10:01brothers, our uncles, our sons. Domestic violence is not the
- 10:12solution. It is not.
- 10:15It actually make things worse. We read every day.
- 10:21Where married men beat their wives even to the point of no
- 10:29return. And we talk about these things
- 10:32online, but these are people's fathers.
- 10:35These are people's sons. These are people's brothers.
- 10:43Violence is not, it's not, it's not the solution.
- 10:46People can sit down and have conversation.
- 10:48And for me, honestly, the, the way I handle things is if I'm
- 10:51trying to have a conversation with you and you know, it feels
- 10:54like I'm banging my head on, on a concrete wall, blocking walks.
- 11:02Block, block everybody before it gets to that extent, before it
- 11:07gets to that level. Use your block.
- 11:09We have not seen the 90s where you cannot block your phone
- 11:13line. You cannot block people.
- 11:15Listen, the world has evolved and the fact that this is her
- 11:22father, people have been calling for justice for for illy by
- 11:29justice, which is why I understand what finna is saying
- 11:32that this is a family matter. On the other hand, she she kind
- 11:36of makes sense because what do you want to do to the dad?
- 11:41If you lock him up, there's a possibility that Ellie BAE will
- 11:46still be the one to come and bail him out because he is her
- 11:48father. So what do you think?
- 11:54Do you think that probably the way his marriage ended with the
- 12:02mother, he is taking out that aggression on Ellie BAE and
- 12:06because he was used to beating the mum, whatever Ilibae does
- 12:17maybe triggers him and he remembers whatever happened
- 12:21between the the wives and or the himself and her mother that
- 12:29triggers him and he is lashing out on her.
- 12:34Regardless of what is going on, don't bring it on the children
- 12:38don't. It doesn't end well.
- 12:40It does not end well because one day you're going to need that
- 12:43person. One day you're going to listen.
- 12:47Family, you cannot run away from them.
- 12:51At the end of the day, at some point, at some point, you guys
- 12:55are still going to come come together.
- 13:00Let me know what you think. Do you think that people crying
- 13:05for justice for anybody are right?
- 13:07Or do you think that according to FINA, this is a family matter
- 13:11and should be settled within the family?
- 13:14Regardless of, you know, how sad everybody is or how people are
- 13:20just traumatised and triggered by this whole thing?
- 13:24Do you think that the family should settle whatever went
- 13:28wrong or is going on in their family?
- 13:31Or do you think that people should still cry for justice for
- 13:34Libya? Let me know what you think.
