- 0:00Speaker 1: Tough day today, but boy, this team can mash. This
- 0:02Speaker 1: is a good hitting team. You saw it today and
- 0:04Speaker 1: they got all three things today, hitting, pitching, and their
- 0:07Speaker 1: defense was really good today that we don't talk about
- 0:10Speaker 1: enough for a lot of teams, but their defense, and
- 0:11Speaker 1: they made some good plays today.
- 0:13Speaker 2: They made excellent plays. They I'll played us, I'll coach
- 0:16Speaker 2: us in every way, two days in a row. They're
- 0:19Speaker 2: a really good ball club. I think they're the best
- 0:20Speaker 2: team that we've played since Boston College and uh BC's
- 0:23Speaker 2: having a hell of a year. But they they've got
- 0:25Speaker 2: they've got to going. Their shortstop plays with tremendous confidence
- 0:29Speaker 2: and ability. Yeah, they got a catcher, I know a
- 0:32Speaker 2: couple of them got by him. I think he's a
- 0:34Speaker 2: freshman catcher with zero pass balls on the year. That's
- 0:36Speaker 2: that's I'm envious they've got. And they have a kid.
- 0:41Speaker 2: You know, their first baseman can flat out rake Paul
- 0:44Speaker 2: Meci's unbelievable. You can't get the Connecticut kid out takes
- 0:48Speaker 2: his singles and doesn't try to do too much, make
- 0:50Speaker 2: some great plays in the in the outfield they bring in,
- 0:53Speaker 2: you know, guy doesn't play every day in little and
- 0:55Speaker 2: makes a great play on Maddox's on Delana's ball in
- 0:58Speaker 2: left field. Every ball that we didn't hit a ton
- 1:00Speaker 2: of balls hard, certainly not nearly enough. But the ones
- 1:03Speaker 2: that we did hit, uh, they made play they made
- 1:06Speaker 2: plays on. So you got to tip your cap to
- 1:08Speaker 2: East Tennessee State. They're the better ball club right now,
- 1:10Speaker 2: and we got an opportunity. We haven't been swept in
- 1:13Speaker 2: this ballpark yet. I don't plan on starting tomorrow, and
- 1:16Speaker 2: I know the guys don't either. We got to bounce
- 1:18Speaker 2: back at an early start and got to find a
- 1:20Speaker 2: way to salvage it tomorrow against a really good ball club.
- 1:23Speaker 1: What did Tat and Bell do well against your team today?
- 1:25Speaker 1: From what you saw on the hill.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I just you know, he he mixed. He mixed really well.
- 1:30Speaker 2: He's tougher on righty's than he is on lefties. That's
- 1:33Speaker 2: why he saw an extra lefty or two in the lineup.
- 1:35Speaker 2: We didn't want to go with Toronto two days in
- 1:38Speaker 2: a row, but I thought he did a you know,
- 1:41Speaker 2: I thought he did a really good job of just
- 1:43Speaker 2: keeping us off balance. We were just in between all day,
- 1:46Speaker 2: you know, just kind of either just out in front
- 1:49Speaker 2: or just behind, and he did a super job of
- 1:51Speaker 2: mixing his pitches. He came, he pitched inside. I thought
- 1:55Speaker 2: he did that really well too. Just really, we were
- 1:58Speaker 2: not comfortable at the plate obviously, you know, the entire day,
- 2:01Speaker 2: and when we did have opportunities, they they didn't have
- 2:05Speaker 2: a ton of opportunities, but when they had them, they
- 2:07Speaker 2: made the most of them. And when we had the
- 2:10Speaker 2: few opportunities that we had, you know, we didn't drive
- 2:12Speaker 2: in a run today, you know, the only run scores
- 2:15Speaker 2: as a result of a ball getting to the backstop
- 2:16Speaker 2: for us, and you know, it's it's fun, you know,
- 2:21Speaker 2: offensive fleeting. We had a great offensive weekend last weekend
- 2:25Speaker 2: at Georgetown and and you know, especially in the first
- 2:28Speaker 2: two games, and since then it's been a little bit
- 2:30Speaker 2: of a scuffle. The last the final game at Georgetown.
- 2:34Speaker 2: At Rutgers, we didn't exactly tear the cover off the ball,
- 2:37Speaker 2: but we were fortunate to get a win. And these
- 2:39Speaker 2: two the last two days here, they've they've been really,
- 2:42Speaker 2: really good.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Kaitan Suki thought pitched pretty well today. I mean,
- 2:46Speaker 1: scattered three runs on seven it's over seven innings, struck
- 2:48Speaker 1: out seven. I mean, you can't ask much more from
- 2:50Speaker 1: your starting pitcher.
- 2:51Speaker 2: He fights. We just don't have enough fight in our lineup.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You know, we don't fight back when we get hit
- 2:57Speaker 2: in the mouth. We don't come back on teams. It's
- 3:00Speaker 2: it's been a common theme, uh since the get go,
- 3:02Speaker 2: you know, since the beginning of the year. We can
- 3:04Speaker 2: bully you. If we we get ahead, we're gonna we
- 3:07Speaker 2: can tack on. But if we get a little bit behind,
- 3:09Speaker 2: it's boy, we squeeze the bats and we do not
- 3:11Speaker 2: fight back. It's uh, it's discouraging to see. I mean,
- 3:15Speaker 2: there's no other word for it. It's been very, very frustrating,
- 3:17Speaker 2: uh to see all year, you know, just offensively, how
- 3:20Speaker 2: how the bats just seem to get worse. We pressed more,
- 3:24Speaker 2: and especially at home. We've played some terrible baseball at
- 3:27Speaker 2: home in front of a great crowd today. And I
- 3:29Speaker 2: thank all the people for coming out. If there's any
- 3:32Speaker 2: silver lining, we get him a happy hour and that
- 3:35Speaker 2: it was a tidy, quick Well it wasn't tidy, but
- 3:37Speaker 2: it was.
- 3:37Speaker 1: A quick game as opposed to yesterday.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I can get out of here early. Yeah, yesterday it
- 3:41Speaker 2: was torturous.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, we'll leave you be from there. I
- 3:45Speaker 1: know you got your lefty the professor going tomorrow. I imagine
- 3:49Speaker 1: you feel like he's in a good he's pitched well,
- 3:51Speaker 1: and he's battled like like the Dickens. From your chat
- 3:53Speaker 1: with Jonesy after the Georgetown game last Sunday, it sounds
- 3:56Speaker 1: like he really battled through those middle innings to get
- 3:58Speaker 1: to the sixth and seventh.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Then, yeah, he did. He's a competitor and he may
- 4:02Speaker 2: look like an accountant out there, but he pitches like
- 4:05Speaker 2: a warrior. And and you know, we trust him. He's
- 4:09Speaker 2: a he's a husky through and through and in the
- 4:12Speaker 2: best sense of the word. And our you know, our
- 4:14Speaker 2: starting pitching has been sensational. But and you're seeing, you know,
- 4:17Speaker 2: Paxston's getting knocked around a little bit. We've been relying
- 4:20Speaker 2: on the same three guys. We keep looking for other
- 4:22Speaker 2: guys to emerge, and you're kind of seeing the byproduct
- 4:24Speaker 2: of us leaning heavily on the same, you know, three
- 4:27Speaker 2: guys out of the bullpen, and they can't be there
- 4:29Speaker 2: every day for you. And you know, I thought his
- 4:32Speaker 2: stuff looked okay, but obviously they were seeing him just fine.
- 4:34Speaker 2: And he's given up some barrels the last two times out.
- 4:37Speaker 2: So we got to get him back, but been very
- 4:39Speaker 2: pleased with the starting pitching. Just very disappointed in our
- 4:42Speaker 2: offense overall, and and our ability. Our comeback ability is
- 4:46Speaker 2: almost non existent, and that's something that our teams have
- 4:49Speaker 2: always been known to do, especially at Elliott Ballpark. And
- 4:53Speaker 2: you know, there's just a whole, a whole lot of
- 4:55Speaker 2: I have this card in front of me, and this
- 4:57Speaker 2: is the most there's nothing positive, nothing really, you know,
- 5:00Speaker 2: nothing glaringly negative other than the bats. But I don't
- 5:04Speaker 2: think I've had a card that has fewer notes on it.
- 5:07Speaker 2: So in my tenure here, it was just Suki did
- 5:10Speaker 2: his part and that was about it, all right. So
- 5:13Speaker 2: we got to bounce back tomorrow, and you got to
- 5:15Speaker 2: wash it off quickly and uh and get to work
- 5:17Speaker 2: and find a way to salvage. And we did that
- 5:19Speaker 2: against Saint John's. We had two really tough games with
- 5:21Speaker 2: them and then found a way to come back out
- 5:23Speaker 2: and went on Sunday. And that's that's a plan tomorrow,
- 5:25Speaker 2: all
- 5:26Speaker 1: Right, Get a good night's sleep, all right, Thanks tomorrow,
- 5:28Speaker 1: Thanks Jim,
