- 0:10Speaker 1: God bless football, Mikey a god blessed football, Taylor god
- 0:17Speaker 1: blessed football?
- 0:18Speaker 2: Sot you got wow? A little pep in his step.
- 0:20Speaker 1: The Knicks must be up to Oh you know how,
- 0:23Speaker 1: don't do it? Yes, brunts and has changed his life.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We have Bob Chesney, the head coach of u c
- 0:30Speaker 1: l A. He's coming up here. It is interesting how
- 0:33Speaker 1: quickly Taylor said yes to Bob Chesney. I believe he
- 0:36Speaker 1: wants us to become U c l A Brewin fans.
- 0:39Speaker 3: You were?
- 0:39Speaker 2: You were?
- 0:40Speaker 1: It was weird, right, Mikey, because sometimes he waffles on guests.
- 0:42Speaker 1: We have guest bookers and Chesney's name came out and
- 0:46Speaker 1: Taylor replied, all with capital Y, capital E, capital S.
- 0:50Speaker 2: How about that.
- 0:52Speaker 3: It's funny because usually when these guest recommendations or pitches
- 0:56Speaker 3: come at us, it's usually like, hey, is this what
- 0:59Speaker 3: we want? A? How about? I didn't even get to
- 1:01Speaker 3: ask Taylor. I didn't even get to google who Bob
- 1:04Speaker 3: Chesney was. Right, Yeah, Taylor was already like, yes, this
- 1:07Speaker 3: is this is a must. I thought it was Kenny Chesney.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 1: But it's why he's crucial because he still cares about
- 1:13Speaker 1: sports and he knows who Bob Chesney is the same
- 1:15Speaker 1: way way back when I would have known who Terry
- 1:17Speaker 1: Donahue is the head coach at UCLA. I mean, you know,
- 1:21Speaker 1: I mean that's why Taylor is vital to the operation.
- 1:24Speaker 4: And you kind of see me and Stu Gotts clash
- 1:26Speaker 4: sometimes when it comes to guests booking, where they send
- 1:29Speaker 4: the list of people and they're like, let us know
- 1:32Speaker 4: if you're interested in these people. I'll reply who I'm
- 1:35Speaker 4: interested in. Stu will reply who he's interested in, and
- 1:38Speaker 4: the two lists almost never ended match.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yes, well, what Taylor's trying to say is his as
- 1:43Speaker 1: young and mine as old.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Stu Gotts is Rodger McDowell, Which credit is Stu Gotts.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Rodger McDowell was probably one of my favorite guests of
- 1:51Speaker 4: the year.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Oh, he was great. Yes, we need to get him
- 1:53Speaker 1: back on fire the Mets manager with him. He's been
- 1:56Speaker 1: texting me non stop, not that he wants to fire
- 1:58Speaker 1: the Mets manager, that he wants to come back on.
- 2:00Speaker 2: The radio show. I should do that to poor Roger.
- 2:03Speaker 4: I put a yes to John Cena, and Stu Gotts
- 2:05Speaker 4: responded to the email and said no to John Cena.
- 2:09Speaker 3: I did, did I really, there's no way I did that.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I put I put a yes next to Sena and
- 2:17Speaker 4: then you responded to the email I think, not seeing
- 2:20Speaker 4: that I had put a yes to John Cena and
- 2:22Speaker 4: you had taken out John Cena from the yes list.
- 2:25Speaker 1: All right, so reply all to the guest booker saying
- 2:27Speaker 1: we just talked it out and Stegott's does indeed want
- 2:30Speaker 1: John Cena?
- 2:31Speaker 2: Okay, Taylor, true of false?
- 2:33Speaker 3: He goes, who the hell is John Kana, John Cena
- 2:39Speaker 3: or John.
- 2:40Speaker 1: C Yeah, but Jimmy mouth of the South heart. I
- 2:44Speaker 1: said yes to him so quickly, we'll make your head spit.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I mean.
- 2:51Speaker 3: And he was great too, Tella loved him.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I mean, listen, it's a give and take. Okay.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'll do some of the interviews like Bob Chesney that
- 3:01Speaker 1: you want to do because you find them to be
- 3:02Speaker 1: important because you're young and you're following sports, and Chesney
- 3:05Speaker 1: could take over college football for all we know.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Right, So Chesney was at James Madison before he took
- 3:12Speaker 4: the UCLA job. The coach the coach before Chesney, Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 4: at JMU was Kirk Signetti. So what are the chances
- 3:20Speaker 4: that Chesney going to UCLA is the equivalent of Signetti
- 3:25Speaker 4: going to Indiana. So we might be getting the next Signetti.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Right, I can't believe we're saying this the next Signetti,
- 3:32Speaker 1: not the next Nick Saban where we might get the
- 3:34Speaker 1: next Kurt Signetti.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Put it on the pole.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Have we arrived at a place where you say, hey,
- 3:41Speaker 1: maybe we'll get the next Kurt Signetti. That's an unfair bar.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Signetti is set. But I understand what you're saying. If
- 3:49Speaker 1: you could do it in Indiana, you could certainly do
- 3:50Speaker 1: it at a place like UCLA. And you think this
- 3:53Speaker 1: guy has a chance, Bob Chesney, to be the next Signetti?
- 3:59Speaker 2: Is that what you're saying here?
- 4:00Speaker 1: He has a chance, and so you want to get
- 4:01Speaker 1: ahead of this early is what you want to do?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Right?
- 4:03Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:03Speaker 4: I think when you see a coach on the sideline
- 4:06Speaker 4: right away, they either do or don't pass the eye test. Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 4: Bob Chesney, he passes the eye test.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Okay, well listen.
- 4:14Speaker 1: The first time, yes, the first time I'm going to
- 4:17Speaker 1: see him is when he sits down in the zoom
- 4:20Speaker 1: here and he does the show with us. I have
- 4:21Speaker 1: no idea what he looks like. And so if you're
- 4:23Speaker 1: saying he looks like a coach, then I'm with you.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I have no idea. You've seen him.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I have it.
- 4:28Speaker 3: He's a handsome man.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Wait do you agree with that?
- 4:32Speaker 1: Like you could tell first sight, Mikey, Is there a
- 4:35Speaker 1: coach where you could.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Tell just by seeing him on the sidelines.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It's kind of like the sniff test with quarterbacks that
- 4:41Speaker 1: I do, where you know the coach is going to
- 4:43Speaker 1: be a great head coach or the other way, you
- 4:46Speaker 1: know he's going to be a bad head coach. Because
- 4:49Speaker 1: I felt that way with Rich Kotite, I knew he
- 4:50Speaker 1: was going to be bad right away.
- 4:52Speaker 2: He's just no, not happy.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I think, yes, But I don't think it's how handsome
- 4:57Speaker 3: they are, because I mean there's some handsome coaches that
- 5:00Speaker 3: aren't very good coaches. There's a there's a there's a
- 5:03Speaker 3: there's an aura to them and if you can look
- 5:05Speaker 3: at if you can look at him, and you can,
- 5:06Speaker 3: sometimes you just can't tell either way, but sometimes you
- 5:09Speaker 3: can go, oh no, that guy sucks.
- 5:10Speaker 1: The guy who got me, I thought he was going
- 5:12Speaker 1: to be great just based on physical appearance, and he
- 5:14Speaker 1: turned out being a disaster.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Was Jack del Real.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I mean, Aaron Glenn.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Still might work out for Aeron.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Now, like when I see Todd Mounkin with the Browns,
- 5:29Speaker 4: I look at Todd Munkin and I say that coach
- 5:32Speaker 4: is twelve and twenty two and two seasons enough.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Put it on the pole.
- 5:37Speaker 1: When you look at Todd Monkey, do you see twelve
- 5:40Speaker 1: and twenty two and fired after two seasons?
- 5:43Speaker 2: I think I would say.
- 5:44Speaker 3: This if I can't picture you, like if you're if
- 5:47Speaker 3: you're a blank face, like I have no like you're
- 5:50Speaker 3: you're done? Like what does Mike LeFleur look like? I
- 5:53Speaker 3: have no idea he's done? He's out. Really, I have
- 5:57Speaker 3: no idea what he looks like.
- 5:58Speaker 1: But based on physical appearance, so Matt Lafleur is a
- 6:02Speaker 1: good one. I don't know if Matt Lafleur is a
- 6:04Speaker 1: good coach. I remember him. I remember seeing him on
- 6:07Speaker 1: the sidelines for the first time as a head coach,
- 6:09Speaker 1: thinking to myself, Wow, that guy's going to be a
- 6:12Speaker 1: great head coach. He's a decent head coach. He hasn't
- 6:15Speaker 1: been a great head coach. And I'll tell you the
- 6:17Speaker 1: other way. I never thought a guy who looked like
- 6:20Speaker 1: Dan Campbell could be a great head coach.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Is he? I don't know I mean a couple of
- 6:28Speaker 3: years he had Ben Johnson and that offense was whoa.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And then last year they didn't have Ben Johnson and
- 6:34Speaker 3: they missed the playoffs. Listen, I hope, I hope Dan
- 6:36Speaker 3: Campbell is a good coach.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Put it on the ball, Taylor, Yes, Dan Campbell great coach.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I mean he asked that a year ago. Everyone's saying, yes,
- 6:44Speaker 1: he asked exactly right. And a lot has changed. Man,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I'm trying to this is a great game. Looks like
- 6:53Speaker 1: a coach who.
- 6:55Speaker 2: DEMIKEA.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Rians looks like a coach. He looks like a linebacker.
- 6:57Speaker 1: He looks like a guy who could still play football
- 6:59Speaker 1: right now. I was, I know, but it looks like
- 7:02Speaker 1: he still could be a linebacker. The guy who's in
- 7:05Speaker 1: aged a bit, Rex Ryan, to me was a guy
- 7:08Speaker 1: that looked physically like I thought, Hey, Rex, this is perfect.
- 7:11Speaker 1: He's gonna be a great coach. Yes, yes, Why is
- 7:14Speaker 1: he not? He hasn't gotten another job, I mean, and
- 7:17Speaker 1: he wants one.
- 7:18Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 7:19Speaker 3: How about Joe Brady m hm, he doesn't could, couldn't
- 7:25Speaker 3: even tell you what he looks like.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Well, how about Ben Johnson? Does he pass? Ben Johnson
- 7:30Speaker 1: passes well, he passes because he had a good year.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I mean yeah, but like even when you saw him
- 7:35Speaker 3: on the sidelines, you're like, look at that, you know,
- 7:37Speaker 3: look at that cheesecake factory menu. He's got he knows
- 7:40Speaker 3: what he's doing.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of the Dolphins head coach that
- 7:44Speaker 1: uh got the guy that came over from Green Bay.
- 7:46Speaker 2: He was such a detest.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, no, the first guy that came
- 7:50Speaker 1: over from Green Bay hanging around Aaron Rodgers.
- 7:53Speaker 2: He looked like a pilgrim. He was the hard knocks.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It was Dolphins, turn your thumbs this way for Ted
- 8:03Speaker 1: gin Jr. That guy, I can't remember his dame. Oh
- 8:05Speaker 1: my god, it's gonna drive me crazy. Look up, Dolphin
- 8:08Speaker 1: head coach.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Like seven coaches ago.
- 8:12Speaker 1: We made fun of him forever. I think he was
- 8:14Speaker 1: the coach when they went one in fifteen.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Cam Cameron, Jam Cameron, that's the guy. Yes, yes, yeah, no,
- 8:20Speaker 2: it's Cam Cameron.
- 8:21Speaker 1: No it is yes, Yes, he selected Ted ginn He
- 8:25Speaker 1: looked like a pilgrim.
- 8:28Speaker 2: He did not look like a leader of men.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And I thought to myself, Oh, this is going to
- 8:32Speaker 1: end quickly for Cam Cameron in Miami.
- 8:35Speaker 2: He was the guy. Thank you, Taylor. Why are you
- 8:37Speaker 2: still doubting whether or not it was Cam Cameron.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Because that's not the guy from Hard Knocks.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Okay, but he is the guy that I'm talking about.
- 8:46Speaker 1: He's the guy from Green Bay. Who is the guy
- 8:48Speaker 1: from Hard Knocks? It was Tony'spirana.
- 8:50Speaker 3: No, man, It's the problem is they did the whole
- 8:55Speaker 3: in season one, so I can't even find it.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Joe Philbin, Oh, Joe Philbin. You know what, Maybe it
- 9:01Speaker 2: is Joe Philbin now that I'm thinking about it. Who
- 9:03Speaker 2: looked like a pilgrim?
- 9:07Speaker 3: What was the name of the first guy?
- 9:08Speaker 2: This is great. I love this, Cam Cameron, Cam Cameron. Now, man,
- 9:14Speaker 2: I'm getting them confused. Holy shit, I'm getting old. That's happened, guys?
- 9:17Speaker 2: Here we are? Uh, Joe Philbin looked like a pilgrim? Joe?
- 9:21Speaker 1: Now was it Joe Philbin or Cam Cameron who told
- 9:24Speaker 1: the fans to get behind Ted Gin and his family.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Was so long ago.
- 9:31Speaker 1: We didn't just draft Ted Guiney said, we drafted the
- 9:34Speaker 1: entire Gin family.
- 9:36Speaker 2: That was seven. Then that would have been Cam Cameron. Okay,
- 9:39Speaker 2: all right, so I got that right.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Okay, we're right, Camray and Philbin Tomato, Tomato.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I mean, by the way, there's somebody in their car
- 9:47Speaker 3: listening to this right now who's been screaming Joe Philbin.
- 9:50Speaker 3: You're talking about Joe Philbin.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Yes, I put it on the pole to Joe Philbin
- 9:54Speaker 1: and Cam Cameron looked like two guys who were on
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Mayflower.
- 10:02Speaker 2: They Taylor, please put that.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Mikeie.
- 10:06Speaker 4: There's also somebody listening in the car and being like,
- 10:09Speaker 4: are they talking about coaches passing a look test?
- 10:12Speaker 2: Yes, yes they are.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I made a career out of this, Taylor, A long
- 10:20Speaker 1: story career. What are we going to play today? Before
- 10:23Speaker 1: we get to the u c L A head coach,
- 10:26Speaker 1: I thought.
- 10:26Speaker 3: We'd take a break from keep three, cut five and
- 10:29Speaker 3: blind rankings because we just had the NFL Draft, and
- 10:33Speaker 3: after a draft we get a lot of people talking
- 10:36Speaker 3: without putting their name on it. So I've got a
- 10:39Speaker 3: little anonymous sources. So I have quotes from anonymous executives
- 10:44Speaker 3: and scouts and gms and whatnot about another team. And
- 10:48Speaker 3: I'm gonna read you the quote and you're gonna tell
- 10:50Speaker 3: me what team they're talking about.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Okay, great, this is fun. I like this, all right?
- 10:56Speaker 1: Tell you ready for this? Yeah, you're really thinking. You
- 10:59Speaker 1: got your thinking cap on.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Let's wait, is this gonna be about their draft night
- 11:04Speaker 4: or about the team in general?
- 11:07Speaker 3: It's it's based on the draft, so it'll be what
- 11:10Speaker 3: they did in the draft and how it affects their team.
- 11:13Speaker 4: That deep thought you saw stew was me trying to
- 11:15Speaker 4: go back and remember who went where?
- 11:17Speaker 2: And wait, no, I understand, Yeah, I understand. Yeah, I'll
- 11:22Speaker 2: give you guys.
- 11:22Speaker 3: I'll give you guys a couple of lifelines. You can
- 11:25Speaker 3: ask me AFC or NFC, or you can ask me,
- 11:28Speaker 3: uh the direction all right? West north south?
- 11:31Speaker 2: Okay?
- 11:32Speaker 1: So so really just a couple of filler like, just
- 11:34Speaker 1: a couple and get used.
- 11:35Speaker 2: To the game questions here, right? Sure, okay, I'll start.
- 11:38Speaker 3: With an easy one. I'll start with an easy one,
- 11:40Speaker 3: all right, okay. Quote, this is like the NBA when
- 11:45Speaker 3: you were trying to acquire guys to keep your star
- 11:47Speaker 3: who is going to leave happy? Is it expensive?
- 11:50Speaker 2: Sure?
- 11:51Speaker 3: But there is no price on keeping your star happy.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Drafting a Reuben Bain does not make him happy.
- 12:00Speaker 2: This one's easy. So so what are we supposed to
- 12:02Speaker 2: guess here? Who said it?
- 12:03Speaker 3: Which team are they talking about?
- 12:07Speaker 2: We don't know who they are, and they remain anonymous.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I want to guess who's edit.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Yeah, because you know all the NFL scouts.
- 12:15Speaker 1: All right, let me hear the quote again. This should
- 12:17Speaker 1: be an easy one, though. You're right, I just forget
- 12:19Speaker 1: what Bain went. Go ahead, Well, it's it might I
- 12:23Speaker 1: got it. Go just read it again.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Quote. This is like the NBA when you're trying to
- 12:28Speaker 3: acquire guys to keep your star who is going to
- 12:30Speaker 3: leave happy? Is it expensive? Sure, but there is no
- 12:34Speaker 3: price on keeping your star happy. Drafting a Reuben Bain
- 12:37Speaker 3: does not make him happy?
- 12:40Speaker 2: All right? So tell so how do we do this?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Who goes first? Me or Taylor?
- 12:43Speaker 1: I think I know that Taylor I think has the answer. Well,
- 12:45Speaker 1: I think I have the answer about that, all right.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I think the answer is Cincinnati, right, Stew's up one?
- 12:58Speaker 2: Nothing?
- 12:59Speaker 3: Right?
- 12:59Speaker 2: Oh, let me go all right, Taylor will go second?
- 13:02Speaker 3: Okay, I like this one's a half step harder. Quote.
- 13:07Speaker 3: They're not one piece away. I get why people push
- 13:10Speaker 3: back on their pick. But at the same time, ownership
- 13:13Speaker 3: is trying to sell tickets and they don't have a
- 13:16Speaker 3: face of the franchise, and this guy can fit the bill.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Uh uh? Who doesn't have a face of the franchise.
- 13:23Speaker 4: I had it from the first half and then the
- 13:26Speaker 4: second half of the quote.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Real, Oh, I know it, I know it. I know it,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I know it.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Taylor gets.
- 13:33Speaker 1: If I get it wrong, Well, no, the point of
- 13:35Speaker 1: the steal is to steal before you answer.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I mean one more time, can I gets quote?
- 13:43Speaker 3: They're not one piece away. I get why people push
- 13:46Speaker 3: back on their pick, but at the same time, ownership
- 13:49Speaker 3: is trying to sell tickets. They don't have a face
- 13:51Speaker 3: of the franchise, and this guy can fit that bill.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Okay, I got it. Yep, it's Jeremiah Love going three
- 13:59Speaker 4: of the car.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Very well done.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Yes, that is correct, tied at one.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Yes, Really, it took you two times to hear it. Uh, yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 2: it took you two times to hear it too.
- 14:08Speaker 4: If I didn't hear that second part, I was guessing
- 14:11Speaker 4: it with ty Simpson rams talk.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but I asked for a second time because I'm
- 14:15Speaker 1: the guy that asked for Jimmy Mouth the South Heart.
- 14:17Speaker 1: You're the guy that gets Bob Chesney on. Okay, you're young,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I'm old. You should only get one listen. Okay, go ahead, Mikey.
- 14:25Speaker 1: My next one.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Okay, here's your next one. Quote they picked a bunch
- 14:29Speaker 3: of good players we wanted to pick, but you were
- 14:32Speaker 3: not replacing a star. They lost with a one, a three,
- 14:35Speaker 3: and a four in this draft.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Story they lost one three in this draft.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Oh wow, you have two lifelines.
- 14:50Speaker 2: What are the lifelines against the conference or direction? Conference
- 14:54Speaker 2: or direction? What is direction?
- 14:58Speaker 3: So in other words, I can give you east, north, south.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Out or west right a compass. He'd put you in
- 15:05Speaker 2: the area, you know east.
- 15:07Speaker 3: It could be the AFC east or the NFC east.
- 15:10Speaker 1: So this team lost face to the franchise and had
- 15:13Speaker 1: a one, three and four in this year's draft, which
- 15:16Speaker 1: isn't enough because this draft wasn't good enough.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I'm talking it out, guys.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I think you're I think you're going down the wrong path. Really,
- 15:24Speaker 3: they had more than a one to three and a four.
- 15:26Speaker 2: They're just but they lost the face of a franchise,
- 15:28Speaker 2: didn't they.
- 15:29Speaker 3: It doesn't say that, it says star.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Well, let me hear it again then.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Quote they picked a bunch of good players we wanted
- 15:39Speaker 3: to pick, but you were not replacing hyphen a star.
- 15:44Speaker 3: They lost because they actually named the person with a one,
- 15:48Speaker 3: a three, and a four in this draft.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Westbury.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Now, I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say the.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Mm this is so hard. It really is? All right,
- 16:08Speaker 2: Lifeline direction East. I knew it really well. I'm in
- 16:13Speaker 2: the ballpark at least. Uh the East Buffalo Bills.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Incorrect, Taylor Steel, that was a that was a bluff
- 16:26Speaker 4: to try to get stuts to make a guest saying I.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Knew it well I did, and it worked. Yeah, I'm
- 16:33Speaker 2: gonna say the Giants. Giants had multiple picks trying to
- 16:37Speaker 2: replace Dexter Lawrence. I'll say the Eagles.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Still haven't heard the right answer.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Really, all right? Who is it?
- 16:48Speaker 3: Being closer to home Boys?
- 16:53Speaker 2: Dolphins? The Dolphins? All right? All right, I guess that
- 16:57Speaker 2: that's tough. I never viewed too as.
- 16:59Speaker 3: The It wasn't too what they were talking about.
- 17:03Speaker 2: It was Wattle, yeah, Wattle, Yeah. Where is waddle? Now? Wow? Yeah?
- 17:12Speaker 3: All right, Taylor, you ready this one? This one's not easy.
- 17:17Speaker 3: This one's not easy, Taylor quote. They don't care about anything.
- 17:21Speaker 3: If you look at even at their extensions, they don't
- 17:25Speaker 3: just set the market. They set the market. They're not
- 17:28Speaker 3: really taking their time or being patient.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Mm hmm. So they're going for it right now. Who's
- 17:35Speaker 2: giving out crazy extensions? Mhm uh, both lifelines. Let me
- 17:44Speaker 2: get let me get conference a f C, a f
- 17:49Speaker 2: C with extensions.
- 17:52Speaker 1: We know it's not Cincinnati, You're it's Cinnati.
- 17:57Speaker 3: You know it's not the Jets. Right after that, you
- 18:01Speaker 3: know it's not the Dolphins.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Yeah. One more time to quote.
- 18:07Speaker 3: They don't care about anything. If you look even at
- 18:09Speaker 3: their extensions, they don't just set the market. They set
- 18:13Speaker 3: the market. They are not really taking their time or
- 18:16Speaker 3: being patient.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna guess the Houston Texans correct. Wow, good job.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Taylor Hunter's extension made me.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Think of it. Yeah, and who is the dB that
- 18:30Speaker 3: they Yeah, all right, Stu, you ready.
- 18:35Speaker 2: He's pumping his fist looking at him. I'm telling you.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I mean the Yankees haven't lost it a month of
- 18:39Speaker 1: The Knicks are up to well with jalb Brunch at
- 18:42Speaker 1: his life.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Whatever they lost yesterday, Yeah, started new Win Street today.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I mean, the best team in baseball that you hate,
- 18:49Speaker 1: Go ahead, Mikey all right.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Quote. I feel like they are drafting for what they
- 18:55Speaker 3: want their team to look like. They are trying to
- 18:57Speaker 3: win on both sides of the line of scrimmage. They
- 18:59Speaker 3: want to run the ball. They want to give their
- 19:02Speaker 3: quarterbacks some big receivers so he can management. You can
- 19:05Speaker 3: see what they are trying to do. New York Giants
- 19:10Speaker 3: Taylor for the steel Oh man, Wow, I thought for
- 19:13Speaker 3: sure that was the Giants.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yes, they're drafting man. Who's drafting for the offensive line?
- 19:21Speaker 2: U Marbot took it offensive lineman? Well, yeah, it doesn't matter.
- 19:25Speaker 2: They weren't talking about him.
- 19:27Speaker 3: So I feel like they are drafting for what they
- 19:30Speaker 3: want their team to look like. They are trying to
- 19:33Speaker 3: win on both sides of the line of scrimmage. They
- 19:36Speaker 3: want to run the ball. They want to give the
- 19:38Speaker 3: quarterback some big receivers so he can manage it. What
- 19:43Speaker 3: they are trying.
- 19:44Speaker 2: To do, I'm gonna guess.
- 19:48Speaker 4: I don't I don't have this one. I'm gonna guess
- 19:51Speaker 4: the Titans drafting Carneal.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Tape incorrect, Baltimore incorrect, Taylor at Moore shot. I'll give
- 20:03Speaker 3: you guys another lifeline you could throw out playoff for
- 20:06Speaker 3: non playoff.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Oh so it's Taylor's who.
- 20:12Speaker 4: The hell is drafting in either an either big wide
- 20:15Speaker 4: receiver or along the offensive and defensive line. I'm gonna
- 20:20Speaker 4: guess I think I could have thirty picks in this
- 20:25Speaker 4: and I still won't get the team. Yeah, I almost
- 20:31Speaker 4: guess the Giants.
- 20:35Speaker 2: It's a hard game, man, I don't like this game.
- 20:37Speaker 2: I mean, you're making me think too much. Jesus.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Uh the Panthers.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Wow, did you just look up big wide receivers who
- 20:47Speaker 1: were drafted?
- 20:48Speaker 2: No, I looked up.
- 20:49Speaker 4: I was looking at who got drafted in the first round,
- 20:51Speaker 4: and I remember Monroe Freeling being a massive tackle out.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Of Georgiakay McMillan, Yeah, last year.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I have no idea what tackle is. Yeah, go ahead.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Quote the draft I really liked. And this is kind
- 21:07Speaker 3: of crazy. Is theirs just looking at their roster and
- 21:10Speaker 3: what they have done. They are a competent quarterback play
- 21:14Speaker 3: and good play calling away from having a really good offense.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Oh shit, the Jets correct.
- 21:20Speaker 4: The way Mikey read that question, gave it away, grooved
- 21:23Speaker 4: it in for me.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt about it. Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Sometimes you gotta know where your bread is buttery.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And I think that was my question too.
- 21:30Speaker 1: It was a baseball coming into me at forty two miles.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Per hour with the Jets logo on it painted green.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Oh god, that's great, all right, Renny Taylor?
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah, born. Ready, This one's hard. This one's really hard.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I hope you have the draft up in front of you.
- 21:52Speaker 3: You ready, yeah? Quote. The takeaway from their draft is
- 21:56Speaker 3: that their defensive coordinator has a lot of say in that.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I know this, spags Kansas City incorrect.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Next? Wow? Wow? All right, so I gotta look for.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Two defensive players in the first round. I do think
- 22:13Speaker 4: Bags has a lot.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Of say in that though, yes, yes, so does my
- 22:17Speaker 1: homes though. All right, give me the uh what lifelines
- 22:23Speaker 1: do I have left here?
- 22:24Speaker 3: You have conference in playoff non playoff?
- 22:27Speaker 2: All right, give me conference NFC, NFC. Give me the
- 22:32Speaker 2: quote again if you don't mind quote.
- 22:35Speaker 3: The takeaway from their draft is that their defensive coordinator
- 22:39Speaker 3: has a lot of say in that building.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Wow, decoordinator?
- 22:44Speaker 1: Who has a lot of say lions?
- 22:52Speaker 2: Who is their decordinator? No idea exactly?
- 22:55Speaker 3: Next?
- 23:00Speaker 2: All right, wait, can I guess again? No, I have
- 23:02Speaker 2: a guess, damn it. I know.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Wow.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Really I'm gonna guess, Taylor.
- 23:08Speaker 3: If you want to hit, I'm giving you one right now.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Nope, I don't want to hint because I think I
- 23:12Speaker 4: know it. That's how confident I am. Minnesota Vikings, I
- 23:15Speaker 4: was being.
- 23:16Speaker 3: The quarterback whisperer.
- 23:17Speaker 1: You are correct, Yeah, but he whispers something productive in
- 23:21Speaker 1: their ears.
- 23:22Speaker 4: They got they got the d Tackle Banks in the
- 23:24Speaker 4: first round. They got Jake Goldey in the second.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you know the Lions defensive coordinator Taylor?
- 23:32Speaker 3: No?
- 23:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I assume it's just Dan Campbell. It should still
- 23:35Speaker 2: be Aaron Glen.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Only if they want to give up fifty a game
- 23:40Speaker 3: and have.
- 23:40Speaker 2: No picks, it's Calvin Shephard. Shep Yeah, good old Sheep's
- 23:47Speaker 2: sheep messing. What's the score here? Great head of hair?
- 23:50Speaker 2: What's the score?
- 23:52Speaker 3: Taylor's beating you three to two?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Okay, what's the game?
- 23:54Speaker 3: I just last one is the last one. Whoever gets
- 23:58Speaker 3: this gets double points because this is super hard.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Okay, so wait, hold on, this is the last question.
- 24:03Speaker 1: The question is up for both of us, and we
- 24:05Speaker 1: just whoever says yes first.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Whoever says whoever says the name first. If you guys
- 24:10Speaker 3: want to start yelling all thirty two teams, as soon
- 24:12Speaker 3: as I'm done, I'll give it to whoever gets it first.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Okay, not the best audio, but yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 3: No, but it's none of This podcast is going to
- 24:21Speaker 3: be the best audio people have heard.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I have never looked so forward to Bob Chesney in
- 24:25Speaker 1: my life.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Bob, get over here, go ahead.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Quote. I did not like what they did at all.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Their picks reflect numbers, workouts, pro days, that kind of stuff.
- 24:36Speaker 3: More than the film. We're going to be smarter than
- 24:38Speaker 3: everybody else. It was a traits draft for them.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Wait wait, incorrect, Let me hear one more time before
- 24:49Speaker 1: we start yelling teams at one more time.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I did not like what they did at all. Their
- 24:54Speaker 3: picks reflect numbers, workouts, pro days, that kind of stuff,
- 24:57Speaker 3: more than the film. We're going to be smart than
- 25:00Speaker 3: everybody else. It was a trades draft for them.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, I'm going to say the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Incorrect.
- 25:11Speaker 2: You want to just start yelling out teams, Taylor Stude,
- 25:13Speaker 2: That's where I was going to go with my second guest.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Great mind, it's a playoff team Jacksonville?
- 25:21Speaker 3: Correct?
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yes, who did Jacksonville draft? Just like and I just
- 25:30Speaker 2: guessed the playoff team. I mean, I don't know if
- 25:36Speaker 2: I like that game.
- 25:37Speaker 3: No, we played it, we tried it. Chesney, yeah no.
- 25:42Speaker 2: But it's too difficult.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Like I mean, that's why I gave you lifelines.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You guys do this is the least amount of attention
- 25:50Speaker 1: I paid the football of my entire life right now
- 25:52Speaker 1: this month only because Jalen Bruns didn't like Taylor changed
- 25:56Speaker 1: my life.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you got to get back on the horse
- 25:59Speaker 3: man because we are days away from the NFL schedule release. Yeah,
- 26:04Speaker 3: and then we have to play win loss.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Oh like, well, that's when I get re engaged.
- 26:10Speaker 4: So I'm looking at the Jaguars draft right now. Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 4: their first they didn't have a first round pick. Their
- 26:16Speaker 4: first pick was a tight end out of Texas A
- 26:19Speaker 4: and M in the second round who had less than
- 26:22Speaker 4: two hundred receiving yards last season traits.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Yes, that's why the guy said what he said. I mean,
- 26:30Speaker 2: Bob Jesney. You didn't know that.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Bob Jesney, the head coach of the UCLA Bruins, is
- 26:43Speaker 1: going to join us next when he sits down, it

- 28:55Speaker 1: is walking back and forth in zoom and Taylor felt
- 28:58Speaker 1: the need, rightfully so to tell.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Us that's not Bob Chesney. I mean, I knew that.
- 29:02Speaker 2: I'm scared. I thought Stu was going to introduce him,
- 29:04Speaker 2: and I was like, that's not him.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Hey, Bob, how far would we.
- 29:10Speaker 7: Have gotten to go with that interview without you recognizing
- 29:12Speaker 7: that was at the head coach.
- 29:15Speaker 1: That guy could sit down and for eight minutes I
- 29:18Speaker 1: would interview him as if he was Bob Jesney.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Yes, listen, I will never forget Bob Chesney. Because in
- 29:24Speaker 4: twenty twenty four when he was at James Madison, he
- 29:27Speaker 4: opened up an absolute can of you know what on
- 29:30Speaker 4: North Carolina. Yeah, the Dukes went to Chapel Hill and
- 29:35Speaker 4: beat UNC seventy to fifty.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Wow. Wow, that was a beltchick game.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Yeah, No, that was a mac Brown. That was the
- 29:41Speaker 4: beginning of the end for mac Brown Stu. They beat
- 29:44Speaker 4: them so bad in that game. Mac Brown got in
- 29:46Speaker 4: the locker room reportedly allegedly and told the team, Hey, guys,
- 29:50Speaker 4: I quit.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Everyone has that moment. Yeah that was Then he.
- 29:54Speaker 4: Showed up the next day and goes, hey, guys, remember
- 29:56Speaker 4: when I said I quit. Yeah, I was kind of
- 29:58Speaker 4: kidding about that, And everyone's like, those cans are already out,
- 30:02Speaker 4: those worms are already out.
- 30:04Speaker 7: I trust Taylor sources on this.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I also think the coach pushing for an expanded playoff
- 30:10Speaker 1: it's not Lincoln Riley, although he's one of them.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It's Bill Belichick. I man, I'd have to be quite
- 30:16Speaker 2: the experience.
- 30:16Speaker 4: We're we're going to expand it to all one hundred
- 30:19Speaker 4: and thirty one.
- 30:20Speaker 2: FBS teams getting in the playoffs. That's how North Carolina
- 30:23Speaker 2: gets it, That's how Downy is on his program. It's amazing.
- 30:26Speaker 7: You'd have a hard time getting into the NCAA College
- 30:28Speaker 7: Tournament right now.
- 30:29Speaker 2: That's seventy four.
- 30:30Speaker 4: There's one hundred and twenty six teams in the playoffs.
- 30:32Speaker 4: Let's go to the bubble. The first team out, it's
- 30:34Speaker 4: Bill Belichick in North Carolina of the ACC.
- 30:38Speaker 1: The field of seventy four. So we're awaiting Bob Chesney.
- 30:44Speaker 1: We'll let you know when we have them. He's the
- 30:45Speaker 1: head coach at UCLA. I want to give him my
- 30:47Speaker 1: Matt Rushmore of UCLA football players.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Because I'm certain he's interested in that.
- 30:52Speaker 7: Does Colin a I have his mount Rushmore of UCLA
- 30:55Speaker 7: football players?
- 30:56Speaker 2: I think we just set that up. Yeah, it's something
- 30:58Speaker 2: you got to ask before the segment starts.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Well, Jessea hasn't sat down yet, we don't think, and
- 31:04Speaker 1: so maybe you want to try to ask Ai Colin
- 31:06Speaker 1: right now on the Fox Sports app, what do you
- 31:09Speaker 1: make of the expanded playoff?
- 31:10Speaker 2: Here is he? Because to me, it's ridiculous.
- 31:12Speaker 1: You know, four was enough wherever we're at now, that's
- 31:15Speaker 1: certainly more than enough.
- 31:16Speaker 2: We don't need expansion. It's absurd.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I don't care who the twenty fourth best college football
- 31:22Speaker 1: team is in America?
- 31:23Speaker 2: Well, where are we with that? Is it official? Is
- 31:26Speaker 2: it going to happen? Is that the coachers are pushing
- 31:28Speaker 2: for it. The coaches are pushing for it, which means
- 31:30Speaker 2: it will happen.
- 31:31Speaker 7: So well, I am not a huge fan of it.
- 31:34Speaker 7: I don't think it's necessary. I think twelve is just fine.
- 31:37Speaker 1: That is Bob Chesney and he is getting ready to
- 31:40Speaker 1: sit down with us. He's the head coach at UCLA.
- 31:42Speaker 1: He just put a piece of gum in his mouth.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Why because he's a coach.
- 31:45Speaker 2: I mean, he's laughing at me. Bob. How you doing?
- 31:50Speaker 3: Man?
- 31:52Speaker 2: Oh, we can't hear him. This is why you should
- 31:57Speaker 2: have asked for Ricardo to leaf.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and this is why I shouldn't have asked you
- 32:01Speaker 1: to ask Ai Colin of hers Mount Rushmore of UCLA
- 32:04Speaker 1: football players.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Coach.
- 32:05Speaker 1: If you can hear us, just stay right there and
- 32:07Speaker 1: we'll we'll get you connected to just a second, go ahead?
- 32:09Speaker 2: Is he? I'm just laughing at this.
- 32:11Speaker 7: But if you're asking me about the expanded playoff, I
- 32:15Speaker 7: mean it was at twelve. I felt like it was
- 32:17Speaker 7: just unnecessary.
- 32:18Speaker 2: It was just adding more teams.
- 32:19Speaker 7: We don't have twenty four teams capable of winning a
- 32:21Speaker 7: national championship.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Yep, Taylor got me here, and I don't mind this
- 32:25Speaker 1: being uncomfortable on live radio in two hundred and fifty
- 32:29Speaker 1: plus markets, because this is why I came back to radio,
- 32:33Speaker 1: to feel this uncomfortable, to be sweating.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I mean, that's what I'm deey. Taylor's plugging something in
- 32:39Speaker 2: right now.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Bob Chesney is looking at us like he's crazy, and
- 32:42Speaker 1: he has every right to way.
- 32:43Speaker 2: I can't believe you asked Ricardo to leave the room.
- 32:45Speaker 2: I'm looking in the hallway for Ricardo. I did ask
- 32:47Speaker 2: him to leave the room.
- 32:48Speaker 1: I mean tell him to take the vap pen out
- 32:50Speaker 1: of his mouth and get back in here.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I mean, let's go. I feel like we.
- 32:53Speaker 7: Can just ask Bob a bunch of yes or no
- 32:55Speaker 7: questions and decide and tell nobody whether he nodded so,
- 32:58Speaker 7: whether he said no.
- 33:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you if you don't mind while we
- 33:02Speaker 1: get you connected here, I'm gonna give you my mount
- 33:04Speaker 1: rushmore of u c l A football players. So Bob
- 33:07Speaker 1: can hear us. He just can't. He can't talk back
- 33:10Speaker 1: to us. And you shake your head as to whether
- 33:13Speaker 1: or not you agree or disagree.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 33:16Speaker 1: First name is an obvious one, Troy Aikman. He nodded, yes, okay.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Second one, Kenny Easily.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Oh that's another now okay, all right. Third one Jonathan Ogden.
- 33:35Speaker 2: I thought about it a little bit, thought about it,
- 33:37Speaker 2: all right, Bob, you can speak now by the way
- 33:39Speaker 2: I think. Go ahead.
- 33:40Speaker 1: All right, it's for it's four, So it's for so
- 33:47Speaker 1: hold on. My fourth is gonna be Terry Donnie.
- 33:49Speaker 8: Oh, this is gonna be trouble. Yeah, this is gonna
- 33:51Speaker 8: be trouble here. All right, we're gonna run out.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Of room, all right, Donahue, he's on there, right, Terry Donahue.
- 33:57Speaker 8: Yeah, he's on there.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 33:58Speaker 1: So the one guy that you were hesitant about was
- 34:00Speaker 1: Kenny Easily. So if you took Easily off, who would
- 34:02Speaker 1: you replace Easily with? Mjda Or what do you think?
- 34:08Speaker 8: I mean, how's Gary Beeban not on that as my
- 34:10Speaker 8: only Heisman Trophy winner from the history of UCLA, Like,
- 34:14Speaker 8: he's got to fit somewhere on there. You're gonna have
- 34:16Speaker 8: to make a little more room. You're gonna have to
- 34:17Speaker 8: make a little more room because I don't think we
- 34:19Speaker 8: should take him money off. But I think we got
- 34:21Speaker 8: to get him on.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I have to be honest. Taylor wanted you on.
- 34:23Speaker 1: He wants to convert us all to UCLA football fans,
- 34:26Speaker 1: and you had me at sit down.
- 34:27Speaker 2: You are a good looking man, sir.
- 34:30Speaker 8: I mean, I'm supposed to say that he was a
- 34:32Speaker 8: smart man. Here's a smart man.
- 34:34Speaker 4: Yeah, So, coach, I played football at the University of
- 34:37Speaker 4: North Carolina. I graduated in twenty sixteen. The image of
- 34:41Speaker 4: JMU beating Carolina seventy to fifty will be etched through
- 34:45Speaker 4: my mind forever. And Coach, that day you converted me
- 34:49Speaker 4: to the Bob mob.
- 34:52Speaker 8: Well, that was a pretty special day. I mean, that
- 34:54Speaker 8: was a special day. There's a lot of things that
- 34:56Speaker 8: happened in that football game that I don't know fielder
- 34:59Speaker 8: see happened in a in the same football game, from
- 35:01Speaker 8: alongside kicks to block punts for touchdowns, that pick sixes
- 35:05Speaker 8: to you know, muddle huddle two point play. There's a
- 35:08Speaker 8: lot of football that happened in that day. I remember
- 35:10Speaker 8: we got to the end of the first quarter and
- 35:12Speaker 8: they're like, you're gonna do your interview at the end
- 35:14Speaker 8: of the first quarter. It was like twenty something whatever
- 35:16Speaker 8: it was at the end of the first and the
- 35:18Speaker 8: lady came over. I'm like, wait a minute, It's only
- 35:20Speaker 8: the first quarter right now. I felt like we had
- 35:22Speaker 8: played so much football I thought it was the third
- 35:24Speaker 8: quarter by that point in time.
- 35:26Speaker 2: So it was.
- 35:26Speaker 8: It was a wild day for.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Sure, Bob. I'm curious.
- 35:29Speaker 7: I've been I mean, do you see the campus is
- 35:30Speaker 7: one of the most beautiful campuses I've ever seen. But
- 35:33Speaker 7: I'm wondering what's been going so well for you and recruiting.
- 35:36Speaker 7: I'm reading everywhere a top five recruiting class and obviously
- 35:39Speaker 7: just getting there's what's the message that's working for you
- 35:42Speaker 7: get so far well?
- 35:43Speaker 8: I just you know, this is like the third time
- 35:46Speaker 8: I'm saying it today, I feel like the million of
- 35:48Speaker 8: time I've said it since I've been here. I just
- 35:51Speaker 8: am very proud to be here. I think this is
- 35:52Speaker 8: a place that is steeped in history. Not recent history,
- 35:55Speaker 8: but you go back and look at the history this place,
- 35:57Speaker 8: it is phenomenal. I think you added the fact that
- 36:00Speaker 8: or the number one public school in the country, and
- 36:01Speaker 8: then you add in the fact that we had six
- 36:04Speaker 8: girls drafted in the first round in the WNBA. You know,
- 36:08Speaker 8: draft our baseball team. You know hopefully ends this season
- 36:11Speaker 8: with another national championship. They have the first pick of
- 36:14Speaker 8: the draft and probably the third pick of the draft.
- 36:16Speaker 8: You go to gymnastics, you got Jordan Chiles over there.
- 36:19Speaker 8: You go to beach volleyball, both of those girls will
- 36:21Speaker 8: be on the US Olympics team. You go to water polo,
- 36:23Speaker 8: nine of our players will be on the Olympics team.
- 36:25Speaker 8: You're walking around this athletic department with first round draft
- 36:28Speaker 8: picks and Olympic gold medal winners. Is really what you're
- 36:31Speaker 8: doing here?
- 36:32Speaker 2: Like that is elite?
- 36:34Speaker 8: And then we're not even talking yet about the future
- 36:37Speaker 8: CEOs and the doctors and the lawyers and the engineers
- 36:40Speaker 8: and the you know whatever it might be out there
- 36:42Speaker 8: that are also walking on this campus. You know this
- 36:45Speaker 8: is a now And then you go, okay, well it's
- 36:48Speaker 8: in LA like could be a You're in the greatest,
- 36:51Speaker 8: most sought after area of Los Angeles that exists, and
- 36:55Speaker 8: I just look at Then you go to the history
- 36:57Speaker 8: and the alumni and they're willing to be part of
- 37:00Speaker 8: this and their mentorship to help our young men become
- 37:03Speaker 8: something bigger than just football players in their time here.
- 37:06Speaker 8: And then long after that, I mean, why not right?
- 37:09Speaker 8: Why not? And I think that's the thing for me
- 37:11Speaker 8: is like you, you're checking boxes everywhere you go. I
- 37:14Speaker 8: don't have any idea why not us?
- 37:17Speaker 1: And I believe that right there's working for you selling
- 37:21Speaker 1: a great city, a great school with great history and
- 37:24Speaker 1: great athletics. I mean, it's and what took them so long?
- 37:27Speaker 1: I mean, how come they haven't gotten back sooner because
- 37:30Speaker 1: of you?
- 37:30Speaker 2: You're not there?
- 37:31Speaker 8: Right? I don't know. I think that for me, it's
- 37:35Speaker 8: about you said selling, but it's not they said on
- 37:38Speaker 8: the I was on rich Eisend earlier today, and it's like,
- 37:40Speaker 8: we're not selling anything. We're presenting. And in the end,
- 37:44Speaker 8: what you're doing in this college football process, I think
- 37:47Speaker 8: is you're trying to make a match, right, That's what
- 37:49Speaker 8: you're trying to do. And you're trying to make a
- 37:50Speaker 8: match for more than just financial reasons. You're trying to
- 37:53Speaker 8: find people that believe in your program, believe in your vision,
- 37:55Speaker 8: believe in what you're doing. And then when that match
- 37:58Speaker 8: gets made, it's great. But you have to present everything
- 38:00Speaker 8: to them. They have to see it all very very clearly,
- 38:02Speaker 8: the good and the bad of it, so they can
- 38:04Speaker 8: make a long lasting decision and not some impulsive, quick
- 38:07Speaker 8: decision just because there's a couple of dollars attached to it.
- 38:09Speaker 1: What do you make of coaches here pushing for an
- 38:11Speaker 1: expanded playoff, Bob.
- 38:14Speaker 8: Well, I heard you guys talking a lot about it,
- 38:16Speaker 8: and it didn't sound like many people were in support
- 38:19Speaker 8: of it, but it Yeah, I think, you know, the
- 38:25Speaker 8: question is how many teams could really win the national championship.
- 38:27Speaker 2: That's a fair question.
- 38:28Speaker 8: I do think at the same point, it's it's it
- 38:30Speaker 8: feels like it's never enough. You know, when you had four,
- 38:32Speaker 8: it wasn't enough. You go up, it's not enough. You
- 38:34Speaker 8: keep you know, you work your way through that, as
- 38:36Speaker 8: long as you could shrink the season a little bit,
- 38:39Speaker 8: back some things up and get into those playoffs. I
- 38:41Speaker 8: was part of the thirty sixteen playoffs, you know, in
- 38:43Speaker 8: Division two and Division three, and I thought it was
- 38:45Speaker 8: pretty awesome. You know, we had moments where nobody believed
- 38:48Speaker 8: we could do things and and you know, made it
- 38:50Speaker 8: to the Elite eight. I think we made it to
- 38:51Speaker 8: the final four one year. You know, those are those
- 38:54Speaker 8: are things that you know, our memories that will last
- 38:56Speaker 8: absolutely forever. And I think, you know, why not do
- 38:59Speaker 8: it if you, if people are willing to do it,
- 39:01Speaker 8: and you have the timeframe to do it in, why not.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:04Speaker 7: Look, I believe twelve is like it's probably too many,
- 39:07Speaker 7: but the games are entertaining, so okay, make it twenty four.
- 39:09Speaker 2: That's fine. At least it'll be entertaining games that part. Yeah,
- 39:12Speaker 2: I'm okay. And the stakes are higher, so that's a
- 39:14Speaker 2: good thing. Yes, got ahead.
- 39:15Speaker 4: Tell you, coach, you've arrived at UCLA, amazing resources, the
- 39:20Speaker 4: bright lights of Hollywood there. What's the furthest you felt
- 39:24Speaker 4: away from this when you were coming up in coaching?
- 39:26Speaker 3: Wister?
- 39:27Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I went to school there. I tell
- 39:31Speaker 1: me a single thing. I went to school at Clark University.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Give me a single thing you miss about Wister anyway?
- 39:38Speaker 8: The people? The people, man, I missed the people. I
- 39:42Speaker 8: missed the people at a high level. We spent eleven
- 39:44Speaker 8: years there and they're just some of the toughest, most
- 39:46Speaker 8: blue collar, great people. That's why I messed truly. But
- 39:50Speaker 8: I think probably when I became a head coach at
- 39:54Speaker 8: Salve Regina University, which you've probably I mean from Clark
- 39:58Speaker 8: you've heard of, but probably nobody else on here has
- 40:00Speaker 8: that's a Division III school in Newport, Rhode Island. Our
- 40:04Speaker 8: stadium was three miles off campus. We played at a
- 40:07Speaker 8: middle school football field all right where our kids had
- 40:11Speaker 8: to drive their cars every single day to practice with
- 40:15Speaker 8: their pads on because there was no locker room up there.
- 40:17Speaker 8: We had to practice at six am. We had to
- 40:19Speaker 8: be done by eight because at eight oh one that
- 40:22Speaker 8: the elementary school had a free period where the kids
- 40:25Speaker 8: were able to walk around the track and you couldn't
- 40:27Speaker 8: be on the track anymore if they were out there.
- 40:29Speaker 8: I also did softball game management, where I was responsible for,
- 40:33Speaker 8: you know, raking the field and throwing down the quick
- 40:35Speaker 8: dry and figure out if we could if we could
- 40:37Speaker 8: actually play that day. That was my call as the
- 40:40Speaker 8: head coach. I was also in charge of work study
- 40:42Speaker 8: at that place, where everybody that did any work study
- 40:44Speaker 8: in athletics I had to submit their cards or they
- 40:46Speaker 8: want to get paid. And it was a two week cycle,
- 40:49Speaker 8: so that would probably be I was doing the equipment inventory.
- 40:52Speaker 8: I was doing laundry at one point. That would probably
- 40:56Speaker 8: be the furthest way that I felt for it.
- 40:58Speaker 2: And now you have someone doing the long for you.
- 41:00Speaker 8: Yes, that's amazing, Yes, Yes, that is, that's the that's
- 41:03Speaker 8: the bonus here.
- 41:04Speaker 7: Yeah, Bob, have you been able to give the proper
- 41:07Speaker 7: assessment to in and out Burger, because I believe it's
- 41:10Speaker 7: gotten a bad rap. I every time I've had it,
- 41:12Speaker 7: I've enjoyed it, loved much, Yes, love it.
- 41:14Speaker 8: I think it's phenomenal. I think it's phenomenal. I think
- 41:17Speaker 8: that they do such a good job the cheese to
- 41:20Speaker 8: meet ratios. Phenomenal. They've melted cheese perfectly. It's a I mean,
- 41:24Speaker 8: there's nothing better.
- 41:25Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about. That's proper.
- 41:28Speaker 7: Does it bother you at all that you get compared
- 41:30Speaker 7: to a lot to usc legend to Pete Carroll, No
- 41:35Speaker 7: I have.
- 41:35Speaker 8: I mean I admire the heck out of him. I
- 41:38Speaker 8: think that, you know, I've followed his career for a
- 41:40Speaker 8: long time. There were you know, many years where I,
- 41:44Speaker 8: you know, from a distance, just admired the heck out
- 41:46Speaker 8: of the juice he brought to it every single day,
- 41:49Speaker 8: the connection he had with his players, the fun and
- 41:51Speaker 8: joy he had playing this game, you know, and did
- 41:53Speaker 8: it at a high level. I think, you know, he's phenomenal,
- 41:56Speaker 8: and you know, I haven't met him yet, but I
- 41:58Speaker 8: look forward to having an opportunity to do that in
- 42:00Speaker 8: their future.
- 42:00Speaker 1: It's an amazing place, Bob, we've arrived at in college football.
- 42:04Speaker 1: If I told you a decade ago that Indiana was
- 42:07Speaker 1: going to be the number one program in America, you
- 42:09Speaker 1: would have told me once.
- 42:12Speaker 8: I said, who's the coach? Is what I would have said,
- 42:15Speaker 8: That's what I would have said. But no, it's wild.
- 42:18Speaker 8: It is wild, and I think that it's just one
- 42:21Speaker 8: of those things that gives everybody a lot of hope.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 42:23Speaker 8: It's the same thing when you're talking about the playoff thing,
- 42:26Speaker 8: if you're saying it's only however many teams, you know,
- 42:29Speaker 8: would you at the beginning of the season put in
- 42:30Speaker 8: Indiana in there, you know, two years ago? Probably not?
- 42:33Speaker 8: And here they are doing what they do, so, you know,
- 42:36Speaker 8: I think they're they're a first class organization, and coach
- 42:39Speaker 8: Signey does such a great job, and they kept their
- 42:41Speaker 8: staff intact when he made that move from JMU, and
- 42:44Speaker 8: there's just a lot of things that that culture already
- 42:46Speaker 8: was moving by the time they hit the ground running
- 42:49Speaker 8: in Indiana. So I just think there's a lot of
- 42:52Speaker 8: a lot of positives from that program, for sure, you know,
- 42:54Speaker 8: and I you know, just really cool to watch it.
- 42:56Speaker 4: From the outside and coach, I feel like from the
- 42:58Speaker 4: outside looking in, you followed a bit to Signette's playbook,
- 43:01Speaker 4: bringing some of your guys to JMU to kind of
- 43:04Speaker 4: help ease that transition. I just want to circle back
- 43:06Speaker 4: for a second. I never really got an answer to
- 43:08Speaker 4: if you like the nickname the Bob Mob.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Like all great coaches, he dodged the question, he avoided it.
- 43:16Speaker 8: I really liked your question. You're set up to your question.
- 43:18Speaker 8: I was ready for a real.
- 43:19Speaker 2: One in there and the old change up.
- 43:23Speaker 3: I don't mind.
- 43:23Speaker 8: I don't mind it. I don't mind any Any support
- 43:25Speaker 8: is good support.
- 43:26Speaker 2: All right, Bob, we are u c l A Brewin
- 43:29Speaker 2: fans for life.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Now, Okay, if we come out to a game, I
- 43:32Speaker 1: expect sideline passes.
- 43:34Speaker 2: I want access, unlimited access. All right, We're coming out.
- 43:36Speaker 8: To a deal. Done done, deal, done deal. You spend
- 43:39Speaker 8: time on Clark at Clark University, deserve it.
- 43:41Speaker 1: All right there, it's the prize you got after spending
- 43:44Speaker 1: five years at wis there. Yeah, thank you, all right, Bob,
- 43:48Speaker 1: good luck to you the rest of the way here.
- 43:49Speaker 2: We'll let you know when we're coming out and that's
- 43:51Speaker 2: thanks you for your time today. We appreciate it, all right.
- 43:53Speaker 8: Thank you guys so much. We'll see again soon.
- 43:55Speaker 2: All right, thanks Bus, Yes go Burwins.
- 43:57Speaker 1: That's our team and
